We used organizational chart to illustrates the organizational structure in showing the different
levels of management.
The 3 core dimensions of an organization structure are Complexity, Centralization and
Formalization.
Complexity
Gareth R (2010) define Organizational complexity, the number of different function and divisions
possessed by an organization, determining the level of differentiation,. in this organizational
structure, differentiation is high. Basically there are 2 types of differentiation Vertical and
Horizontal also known as Tall Flat Structure.
Vertical differentiation, the way an organization designs its hierarchy of authority and creates
reporting relationships to connect organizational roles and subunits. Lower levels report to higher
levels. In Ghee Hoe, Mechanic is to report to workshop foreman and foreman is to report to
Manager and Manager is to report to Chief Director (the man who has the most power and
authority).
Horizontal differentiation, the way an organization groups organizational tasks into roles, and roles
into subunits, establishing the division of labor. In Ghee Hoe, the spare part and workshop

The Effect Of Morale On Employee s Job Attitudes And...
Title: The effect of morale on employee s job attitudes and emotions.
Thesis: Does the morale of employees in the company influence their job attitudes and emotions? If
the employee morale is high, they would have a positive attitude and productivity would increase
or be stable. However, if the employees morale is diminished or nonexistent, their attitude and
emotion towards work would be negative. By having a pessimistic attitude would signify that the
employee morale is low. Furthermore, this could potentially prohibit the productivity of the
employee and damage their job attitude if no actions are taken.
I.Introduction
1.Describe what morale is and the significance of it.
2.Morale is the psychological state of an individual as expressed in self confidence, enthusiasm,
and loyalty to a cause or company. (Merriam Webster dictionary) The significance of morale in the
work center is crucial; because it ties into the employee s attitude and emotions
i.Morale is defined in multiple ways, but in the work environment morale is defined as the degree
to which an employee feels good about his/her work and work environment . (Chungsup, Lee 2014)
II.Background
1.Newman Harrison (2006) states that job attitudes defined as desired contribution made to one s
work role.
2.Morale intertwines with job attitudes and individual emotions, because morale is based on the
workers emotions. If a worker is happy it will most likely be that their morale would be high.

The Golden Goblet By Eloise Jarvis Mcgraw
The Golden Goblet by Eloise Jarvis McGraw illustrates an excellent story about a young boy
named Ranofer who lives in ancient Egypt. Ranofer must bear through tough times and jobs that
no one would think a boy of his age could handle. Ranofer is an amazing person who could
inspire lots of people to do what s right even though it may be hard. This novel is a very thrilling
story, educational, and entertaining. The most important event in The Golden Goblet was when
Ranofer found the golden goblet because it made Ranofer think that it was more than just
stealing gold, it scares Ranofer a lot, and he too nervous to tell anyone. When Ranofer finds the
golden goblet he realizes for the first time that this about more than just stealing. The goblet he
finds is not the work of any ordinary goldsmith and it looks strange and special in a way. On page

The Effects Of Urbanization On The Belizean Society Essay
Negative Effects of Urbanization to the Belizean Society
Many small town dwellers and villagers had left their hometown for the cities in search of higher
standard of living. This movement from rural areas to big cities is called urbanization (Boundless,
2015). As a result, urbanization is the process by which there is an increase in the number and the
percentage of people living in the urban settlements and the amount of industrialization of the
settlement. In Belize statistics shows that 45% of the population lives in urban areas (Population
Reference Bureau, 2014). It also refers to the increase in the size of land area occupied by urban
settlements such as towns and cities. Although urbanization has brought about numerous positive
impacts, it also has its share of disadvantages as well. The negative impacts of urbanization shall be
discussed by means of the economic, environmental and social aspect.
The main negative economic impact of urbanization in Belize is unemployment which ties into
social conflict theory. According to Guardian Newspaper the Statistical Institute of Belize
released its preliminary results for the April 2014 labor force survey on Wednesday, June 25, and
it shows that the unemployment rate has decreased from 14.2 percent in September of 2013 to
11.1 percent in April of 2014 (Williams, 2014, P.18). With massive migration from rural areas, jobs
in the urban area may not be created fast enough to meet the needs. Therefore, the first problem

Examples Of Tribal Sovereignty
National sovereignty means that a nation is independent, it is governed by the people, and the
nation can control itself. America is an example of a sovereign nation. Tribal sovereignty is a
Native American tribe s right to govern themselves, watch over their property, regulate their
trade and businesses, make and enforce laws, and to tax,. With tribal sovereignty however, they
can not declare war, engage in foreign relations, or print and issue currency. Currently there are
about 565 sovereign tribal nations. Two hundred twenty five of these nations are in Alaska, and
the other 340 tribes are located the 48 lower states (SFI 1, downsizinggovernment.org) A tribe can
only be federally recognized as sovereign three ways, there can be an act passed in congress, they
can go through the procedures as stated in Federal Acknowledgement Process (FAP), or their can
be a decision in the United Statescourt. It is important to note that even if a tribe is sovereign, the
people of the tribe are American citizens. They can vote, hold office, pay taxes, follow laws, and
are allowed to serve in the armed forces.
Native American tribes are allowed to have casinos on their land thanks to the Supreme Courts
decision in the Cabazon vs. California case in 1987. This case came about when California
officials threatened to shut down a bingo parlor owned by the Native American tribe Cabazon on
their reservation. The supreme court said because California, and many other states at the time, did

Char Ali Biography Essay
In 1959, Ali went on to win Amateur Athletic Union National Title of the Heavyweight Division
as well as the Golden Glove championship. These first 3 awards Ali won was just the start of
many to come, even awards that had nothing to do with his talents in the ring. 1960, Ali beat
Zbigniew Pietrekowski, from Poland, to win the Olympic Gold Medal. Ali was known for his
footwork and possessing a powerful jab. To this day he is known as one of the greatest fighters in
boxinghistory. After this he was heralded as an American Hero, he boasted about his skills before
fights and often said float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. In 1964 Ali knocked out Sonny Liston
for the Heavyweight Championship of the World!
Ali s Second Life I like to say that this is Ali s second life but really it is his life outside of
boxing. Ali did spiritual searching and joined the Nation of Islam in 1964. Here Ali first called
himself Cassius X. Two years later he began a different type of fight and refused to acknowledge
the military after being drafted, Ali said he was practicing to be a Muslim Minister and that his
religious beliefs prevented him from fighting in the Vietnam War. In 1967 the U.S. Department of
Justice pursued a legal case against him for denying claim for refusing to be in the military. Soon

Facts
Mr. Spencer, who lived with his sister, connected to the Internet through an account registered in his
sister s name. He used LimeWire, a free peer to peer file sharing program, on his computer to
download child pornography from the Internet. Det. Sgt. Darren Parisien of the Saskatoon Police
Service, using publicly accessible software, searched for anyone sharing child pornography. He
could access whatever another user of the software had in his or her shared folder. He could also
obtain two numbers related to a given user: the IP address that matches to the specific Internet
connection through which a computer accesses the Internet and the globally unique identifier
(GUID) number assigned to each computer using particular software. The IP address of the
computer is displayed as part of the file sharing process. Det. Sgt. Parisien created a list of IP
addresses for computers that had shared what he believed to be child pornography. He then ran
that list of IP addresses against a database which matches IP addresses with approximate
locations. He found that one of the IP addresses was suspected to be in Saskatoon, with Shaw as
the ISP. Det. Sgt. Parisien then determined that Mr. Spencer s computer was online and connected
to LimeWire. He was able to look through the shared folder. He saw an extensive amount of what
he believed to be child pornography. What he

Reality Tv Social Aspects

Media and Society
Paper 1
Social Aspect of Television
Socialization is a fundamental aspect in the life of relatively every human. In the absence of having
the ability or strength to interact socially, we tend to steer away from social norms and isolate
ourselves. One may consider that watching television correlates with the effects of anti
socialization although, one may argue that is not the case. Television is a form of socialization
that provides common ground for people to bond over, allows those lacking a social life to create
their own social word, and provides an environment for conversation.
Taking a look at our society today, television is a dominant way in which humans bond and
interact with one another. According to Susan J. Douglas, Reality TV came to replace, in
particular, the lineup of TV news magazines that had dominated various network schedules in the
1990s. (p. 632). Having a wider array of reality television gives viewers an immense relationship or
connection with the characters. Douglas then states, ...The structure of the show invites us to
empathize with them, judge them, or both. (p. 633). In this specific quote Douglas is referring to
them as the characters in the reality television shows. Considering we empathize or judge these
characters, it gives us a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A countless amount of individuals in today s society lack social skills and socialization in their
lives. Television allows these individuals a chance at creating their own social worlds. Many
individuals become emotionally attached to characters in specific television shows or series and
start to produce their own friendships and relationships with the characters. As individuals create
imaginary interconnections with characters, they imagine that they obtain legitimate relationships
in their lives. Thus making them feel as if they have a real social

John Butler s Definition Of Personal Identity
Physical features do not define personnel. Characteristics such as facial features, height and skin
color help us describe people yet, it does not define people. Jane, may have loss her physical
body, however, she has not lost her true self, or identity. John Butler, a religious philosophers
definition of identify helps support why Jane is still Jane. Jane is not dead, after her physical
body is destroyed, the new body of Veatrice is still Jane, because Jane is whomever or however,
she identifies herself as, this is explained using Butler s definition of personal identity while also
viewing John Locke s potential counterfeit argument.

Locke believed that due to a change of body, Jane would not be considered the same person. In
fact, Locke would argue that the moment that Jane s body was separated from her brain, that
Jane s personal identity was gone. We can infer this because, Locke believed, that a single person
is two different people when they sleep compared to when they are awake. So, if Locke would
have to conclude if Jane was dead, he would most likely say that Jane is dead, or at least say that
Jane became a different person the moment her brain was taking out of her body.
John Butler and John Locke, were both prestigious philosophers of their time. However, they
tended to have much different views on the notion of personal identity. If Butler and Locke were
asked if Jane was dead Butler most likely, would say that Jane is not, and Locke would say that
Jane is indeed dead. I personally, would say that Jane is still Jane, because the mind is what makes
up people, not the physical body. The body is used to describe characteristics while personality
traits are used to describe the identity of people. In fact, I would even say that if the brain of
Jane went into the new body, known as Veatrice, that we would still identify Veatrice as Jane. One
s personality traits are what defines people, not their physical appearance. A prime example, of
why Jane is not dead, and still Jane, is if Jane

Introduction In this case study, Vancity s CEO, Vrooman, is faced with making the tough decision
of deciding if her organization is in a position to reprice its line of credit offerings, in order to stay
afloat and competitive, and at the same time, not loose the trust of its customers, who also happens
to be the owners. Furthermore, the study showcases how Vancity s innovative value to adapt to the
changing needs in their community gives them a competitive advantage amongst other financial

organizations as a whole, are often faced with making, in order to stay competitive and profitable.
It also discusses the financial impacts of the recession in the late 2000s on the Canadian economy,
particularly the financial industry. This paper will begin with an introduction to this case,

Promoting Equality. Equality is about making our society somewhere that everyone has the
opportunity and the chance to reach their maximum potential throughout their life. Part of
equality is knowing everyone has a different level of ability and understanding, for example for
one person in society being able to walk to a supermarket independently and buy themselves a
packet of crisps then walk home again could be a huge achievement for them, giving them a strong
sense of self believe as well as a boost in their selfВconcept. To other people this is part of daily life
and they wouldn t see it as an achievement. Giving people the opportunity to do things that are
possible for them to do with their level of ability and making them feel empowered by it is
equality amongst our society. Another example could be in a care home for the elderly, for one
service user walking to the toilet and back could a real achievement for the, making them feel
independent and selfВsufficient whereas a different service user could have a real sense of
achievement by simply standing up unaided for 10 seconds. Recognising peoples different
potentially is a key part in creating equality amongst service users. People can be led to believe
that equality is treating people in the exact same way but approaching one person in a specific
way could be really positive for that person but to someone else could have a very

Capitalism In Brave New World
Evolution is a natural process of the world. Dinosaurs are no longer in existence, and the giant
pandas are not too far behind. Yet when it comes to humans, people have trouble acknowledging
that the human race, too, will have to come to an end; or as Kurzweil predicts, will have to adapt
into something better in terms of evolution. However, the current state of society, in which
everyone is strung on a hierarchy until the day he dies, the singularity will produce a less that
favorable result. Though inevitable and imminent, the singularity will make people increasingly
unhappy by enhancing the socially constructed hierarchies that separate us from free will
(Singularity). Capitalism prevents us from valuing ourselves, which is why we aren t happy. In
Brave New World, it is obvious that capitalistic ideals drive the society, in which their sole
purpose is to consume, as they believe that [one] can t consume much if [one sits] still and [reads]
books (Brave New World 50). The desire to produce, consume, and earn money at the end of it all
makes us stray from the activities that bring people the most pleasure. We are so caught up in
making money and getting ourselves higher on the never ending hierarchy that the idea of leisure
and happinessis forgotten. Though the technology that supports capitalism is thought to be highly
developed and is a result of our most intellectual advances, the reality is that we are becoming
reliant on technology in order to make us happy;

The Importance Of The Apn Professional Development Plan
The purpose of the APN professional development plan is to apply skills and knowledge attained
for individual and professional growth. The professional development plan is a strategy to ensure
the promotion of excellence in APN practice as well as a continuation to strengthen advanced
nursing practice throughout the career. Creation of a development plan will help you advance in a
particular goal, objective, or position. There is an ever increasing need for APNs to keep learning
and keep up with the rapid changes regarding legislation affecting health care policy, quality of and
access to care, and issues surrounding advanced practice nursing. Therefore, it is critical to be
proactive and take personal responsibility to develop skills for your own growth and development.
New skills and knowledge augment motivation in supporting activities including communication,
education, research, recognition, and advocacy. The educational requirement for advanced nursing
practice is a master s level education in a program or track leading to APN licensure, including
graduate degree granting and post graduate certificate programs with established educational
standards and attainment of the APN core, role core and population core competencies (National
Council of State Boards, 2012). APN s acquire increased knowledge in the sciences of anatomy,

OVERVIEW
In 1998, more than 13 million children (19 percent of all children) under age eighteen lived in
families with incomes below the official poverty threshold. Although children age eighteen and
under represent 26 percent of the United States population, they comprise nearly 40 percent of the
poverty population. Despite a steady decrease from 1993 (23%) to 1999 (17%) in the rate of
children in poverty, the United States still ranks highest in childhood poverty among all
industrialized nations.
In the United States, income poverty is defined by the poverty threshold, developed in 1959 and
based on expected food expenditures (thrifty food basket) for families of varying sizes. Each year
the threshold is adjusted for the Consumer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, longitudinal designs allow for an assessment of how the timing (early vs. late) and
duration (transient vs. persistent) of poverty may differentially affect children s outcomes. When
possible, this discussion presents finding from studies that used standardized tests of school
readiness, achievement, and cognitive ability, and controlled for key family and child
characteristics, in its review of the impact of poverty on children s educational outcomes.
Early childhood. During the 1990s, the nation was inundated with reports on the importance of
the early years on children s brain development and later cognitive achievement. While some of
the reports may have overstated the issue and understated the importance of a child s later years
on development, evidence suggests that the early years may be a critical period of development
in which family poverty has particularly strong effects on young children. As seen in Table 1,
poverty occurring early in a child s life (age two to four) is associated with large effects on indices
of child school readiness and cognitive outcomes.
Judith Smith and colleagues (1997), using data from two national datasets, showed that family
poverty was significantly associated with lower scores on several measures of child cognitive and
school readiness outcomes for children age three to four years, even after controlling for the effect
of mother s education,

Environmental Waste And Its Effects On Carbon Emissions
To get around the issue of these powerful companies being upset from the negative financial impact
from the move to zero carbon, a shift must be made in governmental policy. Perhaps the solution
may not be punishing companies for producing too much pollution, but rewarding companies for
producing much less. In this way, the market for carbon emissions will eventually disappear and
naturally profit seeking companies will aim to pursue activities, hunt for new strategies, and invest
in infrastructure and equipment that result in lower carbon emissions. Beyond the simple reward
proposition, however, greener policies often result in higher long term profitability for companies
nonetheless. Environmental waste is often the best proxy for identifying and eliminating economic
waste, meaning that many companies are currently increasing their profitability while
simultaneously following a strategy in pursuance of zero carbon emissions. In fact, notoriously
profit focused companies like Tesco and WalMart have announced their intentions to pursue
environmental action not out of moral motivation, but in clear quests for greater profitability. The
reason for their actions is the simple recognition that environmental and economic interests are
often closely aligned. Nearly 50 separate studies from the Economist Intelligence Unit, Goldman
Sachs, AT Kearney, Deloitte, MIT Sloan, Harvard and others show that companies that commit to
environmentally responsible goals, particularly

How Is Adversity Shown In The Great Gatsby
Napoleon Hill once stated, Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed
of an equal or greater benefit. From George Washington to Nelson Mandela, greatness is
cultivated from adversity during turbulent times. Horace s assertion is correct in view of the fact
that adversity causes people to act, reveals vulnerabilities, and forces people to adapt. Notably,
people are disinclined to fix what is not broken, only when faced with an obstacle do they act.
For example, in the novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Gatsby s desire for the love of
Daisy Buchanan was the impetus for his quest to live an affluent life through any means possible.
He would not have taken advantage of his resources if not faced with the complication of how to
procure Daisy s attention. In brief, without a challenge people will be unable to find a way to

The Securitization Market and the Credit Crisis
Securitization
Traditionally banks funded their loans from deposits. But the us government found that they could
not keep pace with the demand for residential mortgages with this type of funding. Portfolios of
mortgages were created and cash flows (principal amount and interest payments) were packaged as
securities and sold to investors. Securitization allowed the banks to increase their lending faster
than their deposits were growing. The US government created Government National Mortgage
Association which protected the mortgage backed securities investors against defaults by
borrowers. As the securitization market developed investors became comfortable with the situations
where there was no guarantee against defaults by borrowers.
Asset backed securities (ABS)
It is a portfolio of income producing assets such as loans, lease or receivables and the cash flows
from these assets are then allocated to the tranches which is further divided i.e. the senior tranche,
the mezzanine tranche and the equity tranche. The senior tranche is for those investors who want
to play safe because they have first priority on the collateral in the event of default and that is why
they are highly rated, the mezzanine tranche contains moderate risk and the equity tranche is very
risky.
Collateralized Debt Obligations (CDO)

obligations that serve as collateral in the event of default.

Critique Appraisal of Research Paper
This paper is a research critique of the article titled, Effect of distraction on children s pain during
intravenous catheter . Sadeghi, Mohammadi, Shamshiri, Bagherzadeh Hossinkhani (2013)
conducted the study using a soft ball for the children to press during intravenous catheter insertion.
This paper will critique the design, sample and setting, ethical considerations, data collection and
analysis, and the results with recommendations of the researchers.
Research Design The authors conducted a quasi experimental design to conduct the research, which
is a type of quantitative research. A quasi experimental design uses comparisons to determine the

The researchers used a coin to select the sample for the two groups of the study, a demographic
questionnaire to collect data, a Wong Baker FACES PainRating Scale to assess the children pain
level before and after the procedure, and an elastic soft ball. The study clearly described the tools,
provided a detailed explanation of the Wong Baker FACES and how it was used during the
procedures, which proved the validity and reliability of the instruments used in the study. Validity is
defined as a determination of how well the instrument reflects the concept being examined, and
reliability is demonstrated when consistent results are produced using the same instruments (Grove
et al., 2015). Lastly, to evaluate the data of the results the authors used SPSS program which
evaluate the frequency, mean, percent and standard deviation, they used the chi square test to
evaluate the homogeneity of the two groups, the kolmogorov smirnov test to assess the normality
of the data, and the independent t test to compare children s pain in the intervention and control

Major Argument Essay
Argument essay (Rough Draft)
Thousands of students graduate from high school each year in the United States. As they enter
college a new world of decisions opens up to them. The main one being; how should one choose
a major, based on potential financial gain or based on enjoyment? For the purposes of this paper
when speaking of potential financial gain I am referring to majors that will have some type of base
salary of at least 40k and enjoyment as majors that are in the fine arts. With so many different
options at so many different schools this is undoubtedly one of the most difficult decisions to make
due to the fact that a person s entire future will essentially be on the line. Nonetheless, when
choosing a major, the most rational thing for someone to do is to choose a major with potential
financial gain
Now yes there are many people who have found work in their fields when it comes to majors
such involving music, art, and fashion. However, the odds of receiving and opportunity to enter a
career in those fields is very limited and exclusive almost. For instance, in a study conducted by the
bureau of labor statistics it is shown that in 2014 the number of jobs in music industry involving
both musicians and singers was only about 173,300 give or take 6,000 nationwide. With such a
limited number ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another major which someone might consider out of enjoyment is that of fashion. Now
according to sonaku.com the average salary for a fashion designer is 64k a year and according to
lawyer. Edu the average salary for a criminal lawyer is 78.5k a year. Again, another prime
example why choosing a major based on the financial aspect is superior to choosing a major based
on enjoyment

George Herbert Mead s Theory Of Id, Ego, And Superego
George Herbert Mead was a philosopher known for his ideas on how children understand roles
and themselves in those role. Through his work he found that the self comes from society
interactions when we are young. Though Mead s work seems almost like a rewording or
rethinking of Jean Piaget s theory of the four stage of cognitive development or Sigmund Freud s
theory of Id, Ego, and Superego; Mead s work is original and the similarities can be dismissed by
what was going on at that time period. Mead s work was the foundation of the symbolic
interactionismtheory, his three main concepts of that approach are preparatory, play, and game
stage, and his theory can be seen in actions by gender roles. Sense George Herbert Mead s work

The second part of developing the self is the play stage. At the play stage children develop skills
in communicating through symbols and role taking occurs (Marshall, 2013). They start to process
the perspective of another person and then respond in such a way that person might or would
respond from that imaginary viewpoint. Through this process children learn how to circumnavigate
their social environments that they live in and interact with every day. The third part of
developing the self is the game stage. At this stage, children understand society as a whole, that
people preform in a way that they believe but as a social norm or what society expects from them,
and that people take on several roles in society. Children start to understand that others have
perceptive about them and must react to what they do or say and then react to these notices.
Mead then breaks down the self into two parts, the I and me. The I is the inner impulsive affinity
of the individual which is similar to Freud s Id. The me is society influence on the I, the
generalized other, the organized set of definitions, the understandings and expectations with in the
group the individual belongs, similar to Freud s superego. Therefore, mead s self would be the
Freudian ego which is the part of the I which has been modified by the direct influence of the
generalized other. While I can that Mead was taking a sociological view

Music Reflection Paper
The second concert I attended was a performance by the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra at
TAMU s Rudder Theater. The performers were wearing black suits with a white button up shirt for
males and black, full sleeve button up shirts for females. The audience was dominantly senior adults
with a miniscule amount of students. The four pieces that caught my interest are the four
movements from Beethoven s SymphonyNo. 3, OP. 55, Eb Major which is also called Sinfonia
Eroica. The first movement is called Allegro con brio, the second is Marcia funebre: Adagio
assai, the third is Scherzo: Allegro vivace, and the fourth is Finale: Allegro molto. This
symphony is is the first piece that Beethoven creates in his Heroic period when he begins to
write in his own style to express one ideal of heroism taken after Napoleon. The 1st movement,
Allegro con brio, is a fast paced, high dynamic movement in a high pitched major of Eb that is a
perfect theme for a hero. Beethoven s use of this stormy, radical opening was already a new style
of music compared the classical period style of Mozart. Opening his symphony with loud dynamics
at a fast tempois something new that that was not played in the classical period. The two elements
meld together to provide an overwhelming force in the audience, which is exactly what Beethoven
tried to accomplish to show his idea for his hero Napoleon. Beethoven provided the awe in this first
movement from Europeans reaction of awe and terror to the

Movie Review-Erin Brockovich Essay
Erin Brockovich, a 2000 Jersy Film Production, staring Julia Roberts is based on a true story that
involved Pacific Gas and Electric Company using hexavalent chromium or chromium six as a rust
inhibitor to prevent corrosion of pistons used in engines. According to the movie, for fourteen
years, the Pacific Gas and Electric Company had been dumping water containing chromium six into
ponds and covering them over. The ponds were not lined and the chromium based water leaked
into the local water supply exposing residents of Hinkley, Californiato chromium six. Repeated

would legally be in the clear forever. The citizens of Hinkley were awarded $333 million. The
Jensen s receiving $5 million of it. A total of six hundred thirty four cases, which was the largest
direct action law suit in the United States history. Wealth was not the only source of power used in
this movie. There was corporate power, intimidation, desperation, persuasion, compassion and
finally the power to do what is morally right. Desperation is the first source of power that comes

Family saving DNA screening
With the advancement in technology, prenatal screening has become a very controversial topic,
especially prenatal DNA screening. Opposition arises from religious saying that early diagnosis of
hereditary diseases leads to the increased prevalence of abortion which is definitely against God s

bills. She was incarcerated as soon as the movie started because she got into a bad car accident
that was not her fault and needed to pay medical bills. She had a neck brace on which made it
hard for her to move and do normal tasks like eat, take care of her kids and work. This was her

commissioned by the wealthy patron Thomas Gold Appleton. It was never collected by Appleton,

the French State in 1909. It then was placed in the Louve until 1986 when it was transferred to the

received multiple commissions for series of works, one which would include 90 pieces. In 1868 he
was recognized by being named Chevalier de la Legion d Honneur, or Knight of The Legion of
Honor. This is a very prestigious award given by the French State. Only two years later he and his
family fled Barbizon due to the Franco Prussian War and did not return until the following year.
Four years after returning, he and his wife, Catherine, held a religious wedding ceremony; they
originally had a civil union. Seventeen days after the ceremony Millet died. Millet lacked
recognition until the later years of his life, but after his death he became a source of inspiration
for some of the world s most famous artists. Vincent Van Gough was largely influenced, during
his earlier works, by Millet. Van Gough would write his brother and mention Millet very often.
Millet also influenced other artists such as Claude Monet and Georges Seurat. Mark Twain also
was inspired by Millet, causing Twain to make Millet the main character in his play Is He Dead?

Essay about Ralph Waldo Emerson s Nature
In the woods, we return to reason and faith. There I feel that nothing can befall me in life, no

Man appreciates the beauty and pays homage to the one who created it. Emerson then says
There I feel that nothing can befall me in life, no disgrace, no calamity (leaving me my eyes),
which nature cannot repair. He seems to feel at one with nature. Emerson sees the serenity and
peace and realizes how insignificant all of his life s problems are. He believes that there is no
problem nature is incapable of remedying. As the saying goes, Time heals all wounds. Emerson s
words seem to echo that. He seems almost completely careless about all his former petty
concerns. His next remark, Standing on the bare ground, my head bathed by the blithe air and
uplifted into infinite space, all mean egotism vanishes. He feels free of the bars society has
constructed, he is free of all concerns and worries. the infinite space he describes indicates a place
with no restrictions, where he can be as he ought to, to see the glory and majesty of nature.
Emerson also notes that selfishness dissolves as the figurative big picture is made visible. Again,
being in this situation enables a man to realize his insignificance as a single being. I become a
transparent eyeball. I am nothing. I see all. This metaphor embodies the basis of Emerson s entire
philosophy. In this sentence, he fully indicates his unique outlook this transparent eyeball means

changes to how we operate as an organization to become more effective in daily operations would
be TACON. The flight chief is the best example of TACON as they run the flight who is

what order they conduct their briefings or what type of information needs to be briefed every day.
They also assign who gets posted at each location for the day. OPCON would be the post priority

TACON is used when the flight chief decided who will work the most important post and who will

Esters Lab Report
Part 1: Esters aromas are very distinct and often pleasant, they are often used in food aroma and

water molecule and an ester.
In this part of experiment, alcohol(2ml) and CH3COOH(1ml) will react to produce an ester, the

Therefore, the experimental yield is larger than theoretical yield. This indicates an error in how
the result was produced, this could have been caused by a number of different factors. The first
possible reason for this error could be a result of the drying process of the amino group. The
product was left out for several minutes, however despite this the product was still wet after the
drying process over should have been complete, thus increasing the mass of our product and
therefor increasing the percent yield. Another possible factor in this over calculation is an excess
of 4 aminophenol, which was 1.008g instead of 1 gram. Additionally, a number of errors could
have been the result of time management, which in the future will need to improve. In the process
of cooling reactants (4 aminophenol and acetic acid) in ice water, time could have been used more
effectively in other parts of the experiment. This could have been a major factor in why 3 hours
were used to complete the lab. Despite these potential errors we found that both acetaminophen and
4 aminophenol were alcohols as they produced a color change in the Cerium Test. This means that
both these compounds have a hydroxyl group which coincides with the resulting chemical structure
record on our green sheet. Using the Universal Indicator Test the pH of 4 aminophenol was found
to be slightly basic whereas the acetaminophen was acidic. These

personifications. An example of a foreshadowing would be of how Mr. Scrooge is an old
grumpy and gloomy man, and while I was watching this I thought they were implying that
something sad has happened in his life to make Mr. Scrooge to be so dark and dreary. In the
Christmas Carol scrooge has an employee Mr. Cratchet who is happy and joyful. Scrooge has a
nephew who does the same thing every Christmas Day invites his uncle to go dine with him, but

The Ethical Issues Of Darby s Whistle Blowing Decision
Question 4 1.The ethical issues outlined in this case are whether Spc. Darby s whistle blowing
decision was correct and if Spc. Sivits s claims of obedience and rule following are sufficient for
his decision to not blow the whistle. 2.The fear of repercussions of disobeying military orders
should not be an allowable excuse for not whistle blowing. From the utilitarian perspective
actions are right insofar as they promote happiness and wrong as they bring the reverse of
happiness: pain (Mill, 1910.) The repercussions of disobeying orders would be wrong because it
would bring produce the reverse of happiness via pain and privation of pleasure. However, one
also assess the situation from the view of Kant that maxims should only be acted on when they
can become a universal law (Kant, 1898.) Should everyone not act for of disobeying orders, we
can presume that other heinous crimes would go unreported. Returning to Mill we can see how
this situation would lead to more pain and privation of pleasure for all of humanity as opposed to
a single officer. Therefore, both the utilitarian and deontological perspectives prevent the fear of
repercussions from being an allowable excuse for not whistle blowing. 3.Whistleblowing should

the action to blow the whistle or not there is some reverse happiness or pain produced. In the case

Roman Church, including origins, place of birth, and the length of their services (Davis).
The informations which was given to us in Liber Pontificalis had been misinterpreted by many
authors over the years. The Liber Pontificalis told us that three of the Roman Popes were African
national without giving us any further details from which part of Africa they originated ... Show

One of the legacies he left behind was to set the date in which Easter was celebrated to Sunday
on the calendar to commemorate the resurrection of Christ, in order to unifield the Christians all
over the World for one common purpose. In so doing, he made Christ the reason for the season as
Christ resurrected on Sunday morning. Easter was previously observed on the fourteenth day of
the moon, which was the celebration of the Jewish passover feast Nisan or Quartodecimans

Tokugawa Regime Research Paper
The Tokugawa regime controlled Japan by means of strict power and influence for an extended
period of time. Following the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600, Ieyasu is named shogun which marks
the official start of Tokugawa rule. The Tokugawa regime would last until 1868 and exercised its
control in both an authoritative and idealogical manner. The regime was strict and orderly relying
heavily on Shi no ko sho (social hierarchy). At the top of the social order were the lords and samurai
s, which would be followed by peasants, artisans, and merchants (SPAM). It was expected of those
in the lower class s to obey and follow the people of higher status and respect the current structure
of the Tokugawa regime. The Bakufu, was also put in place under the... Show more content on

The leaders of the Tokugawa regime were able to implement a variety of idealogical apparatuses
for controlling their people. First, is shi no ko sho which is the hierarchal system with the lords
and samurai s at the top and merchants and lower class civilians at the bottom. The idea of
SPAM created a disconnect between classes along with not allowing much of any social
mobility at this time. The five relationships governing the ruler and the subject, father and son,
husband and wife, older brother and younger brother, and friend and friend have been in
existence from olden days to the present time. Second, is Sankin Kotai, this was an alternate
attendance system of the Tokugawa period that aimed at strengthening central power over the
damyo (dominal lords). The Sankin Kotai also benefited the Tokugawa government and made it
difficult for uprisings and rebellions to occur from dominal lords over the pre existing
government. And last, is the five house hold system. This system essentially relied on neighbors
and people of the community to make sure everyone was following the code of Bakufu. These
three ideologies display the manipulation and control that the Tokugawa regime were able to
implement over its people. The lower class feared the authority of samurai s and lords and simply
were obeying law because of their social positioning. These ideologies

Gene Expression Of Soybeans ( Glycine Max )
Gene Expression of Soybeans (Glycine max) in Response to Bacterial Inoculants, Rhizoboost,
Defensor and Rhizobium under abiotic Stress (heat condition) in Glycine max
Proposal by Noor Sairafi and Dr. Sue Hum Musser
Western Illinois University, Department of Biology
Abstract Several microorganisms have the ability to promote plant growth and produce compounds
which are known to stimulate plant defenses by inducing systemic resistance (ISR) in attacked
plants (1). Bacillus species are commonly used in formulating microbial fertilizers due to their rapid
beneficial effects in colonizing plant root and establishing Rhizobia bacteria mutualism inside their
root structure. In this paper research, I will observe this unique interaction by examining the gene
expression of soybeans (Glycine max) and their response to bio inoculants under a heat stress. I will
use four different treatments: control, Defensor, Rhizoboost, Defensor and Rhizobium, and
Rhizoboost and Rhizobium. Once the infected seeds germinate, I will incubate soybean seeds at 25
oC and 37 oC for approximately 16 hours followed by grinding seeds for RNA purification. Gene
expression data will be then obtained and collected via qPCR analysis followed by microarray
analysis for more data confirmation. Additionally, a two way ANOVA and a Tukey s multiple
comparison test will be used to determine the significance of the data. This study will give us a
good idea on the effect of bacterial fertilizers (Defensor,

The Doctrine Of Freedom Of Contract
The particular focus of this essay is on how terms are implied. This is central because the courts
intervene and impose implied terms when they believe that in addition to the terms the parties
have expressly agreed on, other terms must be implied into the contract. Gillies argued that the
courts have become more interventionist in protecting the rights of contracting parties thereby
encroaching upon the notion of freedom of contract. The doctrine of freedom of contract is a
prevailing philosophy which upholds the idea that parties to a contract should be at liberty to
agree on their own terms without the interference of the courts or legislature. Implied terms can
be viewed as a technique of construction or interpretation of contracts. It has been argued that the
courts are interfering too much in their approach to determine and interpret the terms of a
contract. The aim of this essay is to explore this argument further and in doing so consider
whether freedom of contract is lost due to courts imposing implied terms. The essay will outline
how the common law implies terms. The final part of the essay will examine whether Parliament,
by means of a statute, or terms implied by custom restrict freedom in a contract. An overall
conclusion on the issue will be reached. On the one hand it is evident that terms implied at
common law can be implied in law or implied in fact . Terms implied as a matter of fact are said to
give effect to unexpressed intentions of the

Vertical differentiation, the way an organization designs its hierarchy of authority and creates reporting relationships to connect organizational roles and subunits. Lower levels report to higher levels. In Ghee Hoe, Mechanic is to report to workshop foreman and foreman is to report to Manager and Manager is to report to Chief Director (the man who has the most power and authority). Horizontal differentiation, the way an organization groups organizational tasks into roles, and roles into subunits, establishing the division of labor. • 4. The Effect Of Morale On Employee s Job Attitudes And... Title: The effect of morale on employee s job attitudes and emotions. Thesis: Does the morale of employees in the company influence their job attitudes and emotions? If the employee morale is high, they would have a positive attitude and productivity would increase or be stable. However, if the employees morale is diminished or nonexistent, their attitude and emotion towards work would be negative. By having a pessimistic attitude would signify that the employee morale is low. Furthermore, this could potentially prohibit the productivity of the employee and damage their job attitude if no actions are taken. I.Introduction 1.Describe what morale is and the significance of it. 2.Morale is the psychological state of an individual as expressed in self confidence, enthusiasm, and loyalty to a cause or company. (Merriam Webster dictionary) The significance of morale in the work center is crucial; because it ties into the employee s attitude and emotions i.Morale is defined in multiple ways, but in the work environment morale is defined as the degree to which an employee feels good about his/her work and work environment . (Chungsup, Lee 2014) II.Background 1.Newman Harrison (2006) states that job attitudes defined as desired contribution made to one s work role. 2.Morale intertwines with job attitudes and individual emotions, because morale is based on the workers emotions. • 6. The Effects Of Urbanization On The Belizean Society Essay Negative Effects of Urbanization to the Belizean Society Many small town dwellers and villagers had left their hometown for the cities in search of higher standard of living. This movement from rural areas to big cities is called urbanization (Boundless, 2015). As a result, urbanization is the process by which there is an increase in the number and the percentage of people living in the urban settlements and the amount of industrialization of the settlement. In Belize statistics shows that 45% of the population lives in urban areas (Population Reference Bureau, 2014). It also refers to the increase in the size of land area occupied by urban settlements such as towns and cities. Although urbanization has brought about numerous positive impacts, it also has its share of disadvantages as well. The negative impacts of urbanization shall be discussed by means of the economic, environmental and social aspect. The main negative economic impact of urbanization in Belize is unemployment which ties into social conflict theory. According to Guardian Newspaper the Statistical Institute of Belize released its preliminary results for the April 2014 labor force survey on Wednesday, June 25, and it shows that the unemployment rate has decreased from 14.2 percent in September of 2013 to 11.1 percent in April of 2014 (Williams, 2014, P.18). With massive migration from rural areas, jobs in the urban area may not be created fast enough to meet the needs. Therefore, the first problem faced ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

America is an example of a sovereign nation. Tribal sovereignty is a Native American tribe s right to govern themselves, watch over their property, regulate their trade and businesses, make and enforce laws, and to tax,. With tribal sovereignty however, they can not declare war, engage in foreign relations, or print and issue currency. Currently there are about 565 sovereign tribal nations. Two hundred twenty five of these nations are in Alaska, and the other 340 tribes are located the 48 lower states (SFI 1, downsizinggovernment.org) A tribe can only be federally recognized as sovereign three ways, there can be an act passed in congress, they can go through the procedures as stated in Federal Acknowledgement Process (FAP), or their can be a decision in the United Statescourt. It is important to note that even if a tribe is sovereign, the people of the tribe are American citizens. They can vote, hold office, pay taxes, follow laws, and are allowed to serve in the armed forces. Native American tribes are allowed to have casinos on their land thanks to the Supreme Courts decision in the Cabazon vs. California case in 1987. He used LimeWire, a free peer to peer file sharing program, on his computer to download child pornography from the Internet. Det. Sgt. Darren Parisien of the Saskatoon Police Service, using publicly accessible software, searched for anyone sharing child pornography. He could access whatever another user of the software had in his or her shared folder. He could also obtain two numbers related to a given user: the IP address that matches to the specific Internet connection through which a computer accesses the Internet and the globally unique identifier (GUID) number assigned to each computer using particular software. The IP address of the computer is displayed as part of the file sharing process. Det. Sgt. Parisien created a list of IP addresses for computers that had shared what he believed to be child pornography. He then ran that list of IP addresses against a database which matches IP addresses with approximate locations. He found that one of the IP addresses was suspected to be in Saskatoon, with Shaw as the ISP. Det. Sgt. Parisien then determined that Mr. Spencer s computer was online and connected to LimeWire. In the absence of having the ability or strength to interact socially, we tend to steer away from social norms and isolate ourselves. One may consider that watching television correlates with the effects of anti socialization although, one may argue that is not the case. Television is a form of socialization that provides common ground for people to bond over, allows those lacking a social life to create their own social word, and provides an environment for conversation. Taking a look at our society today, television is a dominant way in which humans bond and interact with one another. According to Susan J. Douglas, Reality TV came to replace, in particular, the lineup of TV news magazines that had dominated various network schedules in the 1990s. (p. 632). Having a wider array of reality television gives viewers an immense relationship or connection with the characters. Douglas then states, ...The structure of the show invites us to empathize with them, judge them, or both. (p. 633). Locke believed that due to a change of body, Jane would not be considered the same person. In fact, Locke would argue that the moment that Jane s body was separated from her brain, that Jane s personal identity was gone. We can infer this because, Locke believed, that a single person is two different people when they sleep compared to when they are awake. So, if Locke would have to conclude if Jane was dead, he would most likely say that Jane is dead, or at least say that Jane became a different person the moment her brain was taking out of her body. John Butler and John Locke, were both prestigious philosophers of their time. However, they tended to have much different views on the notion of personal identity. Yet when it comes to humans, people have trouble acknowledging that the human race, too, will have to come to an end; or as Kurzweil predicts, will have to adapt into something better in terms of evolution. However, the current state of society, in which everyone is strung on a hierarchy until the day he dies, the singularity will produce a less that favorable result. Though inevitable and imminent, the singularity will make people increasingly unhappy by enhancing the socially constructed hierarchies that separate us from free will (Singularity). Capitalism prevents us from valuing ourselves, which is why we aren t happy. In Brave New World, it is obvious that capitalistic ideals drive the society, in which their sole purpose is to consume, as they believe that [one] can t consume much if [one sits] still and [reads] books (Brave New World 50). The desire to produce, consume, and earn money at the end of it all makes us stray from the activities that bring people the most pleasure. We are so caught up in making money and getting ourselves higher on the never ending hierarchy that the idea of leisure and happinessis forgotten. Environmental Waste And Its Effects On Carbon Emissions To get around the issue of these powerful companies being upset from the negative financial impact from the move to zero carbon, a shift must be made in governmental policy. Perhaps the solution may not be punishing companies for producing too much pollution, but rewarding companies for producing much less. In this way, the market for carbon emissions will eventually disappear and naturally profit seeking companies will aim to pursue activities, hunt for new strategies, and invest in infrastructure and equipment that result in lower carbon emissions. Beyond the simple reward proposition, however, greener policies often result in higher long term profitability for companies nonetheless. Environmental waste is often the best proxy for identifying and eliminating economic waste, meaning that many companies are currently increasing their profitability while simultaneously following a strategy in pursuance of zero carbon emissions. • 25. George Herbert Mead s Theory Of Id, Ego, And Superego George Herbert Mead was a philosopher known for his ideas on how children understand roles and themselves in those role. Through his work he found that the self comes from society interactions when we are young. Though Mead s work seems almost like a rewording or rethinking of Jean Piaget s theory of the four stage of cognitive development or Sigmund Freud s theory of Id, Ego, and Superego; Mead s work is original and the similarities can be dismissed by what was going on at that time period. Mead s work was the foundation of the symbolic interactionismtheory, his three main concepts of that approach are preparatory, play, and game stage, and his theory can be seen in actions by gender roles. At the play stage children develop skills in communicating through symbols and role taking occurs (Marshall, 2013). They start to process the perspective of another person and then respond in such a way that person might or would respond from that imaginary viewpoint. Through this process children learn how to circumnavigate their social environments that they live in and interact with every day. The third part of developing the self is the game stage. At this stage, children understand society as a whole, that people preform in a way that they believe but as a social norm or what society expects from them, and that people take on several roles in society. Children start to understand that others have perceptive about them and must react to what they do or say and then react to these notices. Mead then breaks down the self into two parts, the I and me. The I is the inner impulsive affinity of the individual which is similar to Freud s Id. The me is society influence on the I, the generalized other, the organized set of definitions, the understandings and expectations with in the group the individual belongs, similar to Freud s superego. Therefore, mead s self would be the Freudian ego which is the part of the I which has been modified by the direct influence of the generalized other. • 26. Music Reflection Paper The second concert I attended was a performance by the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra at TAMU s Rudder Theater. The performers were wearing black suits with a white button up shirt for males and black, full sleeve button up shirts for females. The audience was dominantly senior adults with a miniscule amount of students. The four pieces that caught my interest are the four movements from Beethoven s SymphonyNo. 3, OP. 55, Eb Major which is also called Sinfonia Eroica. The first movement is called Allegro con brio, the second is Marcia funebre: Adagio assai, the third is Scherzo: Allegro vivace, and the fourth is Finale: Allegro molto. This symphony is is the first piece that Beethoven creates in his Heroic period when he begins to write in his own style to express one ideal of heroism taken after Napoleon. The 1st movement, Allegro con brio, is a fast paced, high dynamic movement in a high pitched major of Eb that is a perfect theme for a hero. Beethoven s use of this stormy, radical opening was already a new style of music compared the classical period style of Mozart. Opening his symphony with loud dynamics at a fast tempois something new that that was not played in the classical period. The two elements meld together to provide an overwhelming force in the audience, which is exactly what Beethoven tried to accomplish to show his idea for his hero Napoleon. Beethoven provided the awe in this first movement from Europeans reaction of awe and terror to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The product was left out for several minutes, however despite this the product was still wet after the drying process over should have been complete, thus increasing the mass of our product and therefor increasing the percent yield. Another possible factor in this over calculation is an excess of 4 aminophenol, which was 1.008g instead of 1 gram. Additionally, a number of errors could have been the result of time management, which in the future will need to improve. In the process of cooling reactants (4 aminophenol and acetic acid) in ice water, time could have been used more effectively in other parts of the experiment. This could have been a major factor in why 3 hours were used to complete the lab. Sivits s claims of obedience and rule following are sufficient for his decision to not blow the whistle. 2.The fear of repercussions of disobeying military orders should not be an allowable excuse for not whistle blowing. From the utilitarian perspective actions are right insofar as they promote happiness and wrong as they bring the reverse of happiness: pain (Mill, 1910.) The repercussions of disobeying orders would be wrong because it would bring produce the reverse of happiness via pain and privation of pleasure. However, one also assess the situation from the view of Kant that maxims should only be acted on when they can become a universal law (Kant, 1898.) Should everyone not act for of disobeying orders, we can presume that other heinous crimes would go unreported. Returning to Mill we can see how this situation would lead to more pain and privation of pleasure for all of humanity as opposed to a single officer. Therefore, both the utilitarian and deontological perspectives prevent the fear of repercussions from being an allowable excuse for not whistle blowing. 3.Whistleblowing should be praised.
