Alphas In Brave New World
Lovepreet Singh
Brave New World Multiparagraph Essay Choice 3
The book, Brave New World, written by Aldous Huxley, was published in 1932. The book is about
Huxley s vision of the future. The story is about a place where babies were born in factories. It is a
world where people can have sex but no babies produced or STD by having sex. The life in Brave
New World is more pleasurable than just being happy. The life there is hedonistic. It has five castes,
Alphas, Betas, Gammas, Deltas, and Epsilons. Alphas are tall, intelligent, and muscular; Epsilons are
dumb, and ugly. Today s world is moving closer to living in Huxley s Brave New World.
In today s world, the rich are dominant just like in Brave New World, the Alphas/Betas are dominant.

The Importance Of Multicultural Communication
With the increased proliferation of organizational settings across many industries, businesses and the
staff members need a more complex understanding of intercultural communication. With that in mind,
it is also important that businesses and their employees engage in an intercultural communication
evaluation and make serious adjustments to address the needs of both the consumers and the
producers. As a result, businesses can elaboratively work toward a future of multicultural connection
and free from stereotypes and discrimination. To support this collaboration, three prestige industries
around the world have been chosen. The three industries Iberdrola, Energia De Portugal, and AES
Corporation will help to make a beneficial impact on different cultural populations with an addition of
explaining their functionalities among those cultures. The first industry is Iberdrola, an electrical
utility company in Spain. The Iberdrola company works with other energy companies around the
globe to provide the best service for a better future. According to the Iberdrola website, Iberdrola
company has been awarded Best Corporate Governance (Spain) by prestigious publication World
Finance (Corporativa, 2017). The World Finance has recognized Iberdrola as a great company for its
transparent financial information and good governance practices, as well as for commitment to social

Accidental Asian Chapter Summaries
Today, I started reading the first chapter of the memoir called The Accidental Asian by Eric Liu.
Reading the first chapter is not just for pleasure or information, but for sympathy and relation. As an
international student, I find the story of the author s dad directly connecting to my life as transiting
from Vietnam to the US. His dad boats across the Pacific with the hope for creating the prosper Liu
family. Although he wants to maintain Chinese manner, Chao hua Liu, the author s father naturally
assimilates into American culture. As he attends University of Illinois, he soon becomes an elegant
man in a Western suit in his own wedding, enjoys his vacation in luxurious American way. And more
important, he communicates by English fluently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As an international student, for me, I find his story can be part of mine in the future. Having lived in
the US for six months, not long enough to completely get rid of my Vietnamese origin, I sometimes
find it difficult to preserve my cultural traditions while living in American environment, which
requires me to be completely assimilated into it. Going to school, I no longer have to wear in
traditional dress, no longer have to bend my body for 90 degree to greet an adult, and no longer have
to wait for adults on dinner table to eat first before I start to eat. Flashing back to what I used to
traditionally do in Vietnam, I feel regretful, ashamed, and especially confused whether these changes
are assimilation, or just simply accommodation. Yet, I can assert certainly that what I have
experienced in past six months is categorized as assimilation. Due to Eric Liu s narration about his
father s life, I am again clear about my experience as well as the definition of assimilation: I take
American information, trends and experience and then incorporate with my existing culture. And
unfortunately, I find a way to get rid of my traditions and replace with American

Dr. Caligare
People often take for granted the importance of the first impression, the few pivotal seconds where the
eye decides what someone is like before they ve spoken a single word. In The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari,
Weine uses costume design and German expressionist makeup to visually assign roles of sanity and
insanity to the characters that are immediately identifiable. In doing so, Weine insinuates the people
are all too willing to accept these visual cues without question, when in reality the line between the
sane and insane may not be so clear cut. In order to achieve this effect, Weine first establishes a sense
of normalcy by appealing to society s picture of the common man. At the beginning of the film, the
audience is not privy to any madness, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, a closer look at the characters appearance following the big twist challenges this simplicity.
The first clue that something is off is the nature of the people that inhabit the asylum, especially
Cesare. A close up on Cesare reveals that his appearance has been skewed by Francis madness. His
messy hair has been combed into place, reminiscent of Alan s normal locks. Most notable, the dark
circles under his eyes have disappeared, implying that Cesare is not, and was never, a somnambulist.
Thus, the truth behind Francis story begins to crumble. The discovery of Francis insanity is realized
by his courtyard companion, whose visible shock and horror is paralleled in the audience. In this
moment, it is revealed that everything has been told from the perspective of a madman, destroying the
credibility of the entire story. The ambiguity increases as Queen Jane receives another close up: her
makeup looks the same softened, even. Jane s appearance barely changed, and the fact that her
makeup was even darker in the flashback where she was normal blurs the line between Francis
delusions and reality. Afterwards, Caligari comes down in a way similar to the beginning, emerging
out of the shadows. However, the makeup, hair, and costuming has gone, revealing a completely
normal looking person. Such a drastic

Biography of Michael Jordan
There s Michael, then there is the rest of us, Magic Johnson famously quoted. Even the brilliant stars
of his era praise Michael s greatness. This shows how great he really is on the court. Michael has the
unique combination of grace, power, speed, quickness, and an unquenchable competitive desire. But,
who knew that Michael was cut from the varsity team when he was a sophomore at Laney High
School? Are you out of your mind! I know that if I were the coach, I would definitely keep a guy of
Michael s caliber. During this time, Michael was just a slim guy with average skills. His failure to
make the varsity team motivated him to strive to be the best by practicing as often as the sun rises. He
attended North Carolina in college and in his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my opinion, Michael Jordan is the greatest player to ever play the game. Meanwhile, Michael
disagrees with that. There is no such thing as a perfect basketball player, and I don t believe there is
only one greatest player either. Everyone plays in different eras. I built my talents on the shoulders of
someone else s talent. I believe greatness is an evolutionary process that changes and evolves era to
era. Without Julius Erving, David Thompson, Walter Davis, and Elgin Baylor there would never have
been a Michael Jordan. I evolved from them, he argued.
The book was awesome in terms of the detailed description of Michael s life. What I liked the most
was the tips he supplied to his readers. He was considerate enough to share how he reached the top.
Listen, be aware of your success, and never stop trying to get better. As a reader, I would inscribe that
in my brain because the greatest player ever is giving me tips on how to be successful. I would
recommend this book to all of those people who are also fascinated with Michael Jordan s career.
Basketball players will definitely love this book because we can somewhat relate to his experiences.
Of course, his experiences are far from ordinary compared to our experiences. This book demonstrates
how a failure can be turned into a good thing by using it as a motivation. Follow your dreams and
have a motivation to achieve them.

My Life And Building Leadership Qualities
I grew up in a family of Indian railway employees. Along with a railway job my father used to serve in
the Territorial Army. I learned from my father about the discipline, leadership, and commitment
needed to serve the country. At the age of 12, I joined the Bharat Scouts and Guides to achieve
physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential as an individual. From being a boy scout, I grew up
in the ranks over the years to scout leader. During my last year of high school, I became the school
captain, planning and leading the school day to day student activities. During the same time, as a
captain, I lead my school team to a district level cricket championship. I enjoyed my entire school
journey learning and building leadership qualities. My urge for community service led me to look for
opportunities in and outside of my undergrad college. During my search, I met then Commanding
Officer of NCC 2(A) Compo Tech Regiment, a wing of Indian army in Visakhapatnam. After my brief
interaction with him, I felt that joining National Cadet Crops (NCC) would further strengthen my
leadership skills and give me an opportunity to serve the community. During my stint at NCC, I
organized camps for water conservation, blood donation, and tree plantation. The unique training
activities that the NCC provided me with in terms of teamwork and leadership have molded me into a
disciplined and selfless leader.

Cinderell Disney Vs. Grimm
Cinderella: Disney Vs. Grimm A beautiful young girl, leaves her two step sisters and her stepmother
whom treated her poorly, marries a young prince, and she lives happily ever after. The fairytale of
Cinderella has been one of the most told bedtime stories of all time. Most people can say they
associate the story of Cinderella with the 1950 version of Walt Disney. Many people are oblivious of
the many versions of this fantasy tale. The original fairytale of Cinderella, by the Brother s Grimm,
was written in 1812 which had many differences from the Walt Disney version. Like most of Walt
Disney s films, they are produced to capture the attention of a certain type of audience, the young.
Since Disney films are targeted to the young, they conclude with a romance and happy ending.
Unfortunately, because of such endings, the original story is being manipulated taking away from its
original content. One of the scenes that have been changed from its original version are the different
rolls of Cinderella s parents, Cinderella s godmother, Cinderella s character and the stepsisters
punishment for being cruel to Cinderella. I believe that Walt Disney changed some of the original
parts of the Brother s Grimm version of the story due to some the graphic scenes, which did not stay
faithful to the original version of Cinderella. Walt Disney wanted to make the story as kid friendly as
possible to attract more audience. As we grow up we are told by our parents that being kind and

The Pros And Cons Of Car Insurance

according to Consumer Reports, a two year investigation, researchers found that Progressive has the
second most expensive car insurance in the nation. During an analysis of the five national auto
insurance providers, they discovered that Progressive rated at $600 higher than USAA. Consumer
Reports found that, overall, Geico, Allstate and Progressive had higher rates. State Farm, Amica and
USAA offered customers lower rates the study revealed.
Because legislature regulates car insurance at the state level, pricing will often have little rhyme or
reason. Nevertheless, Consumer Reports reveals some subtle truths about car insurance. First,

Persuasive Essay On Family Vacation
Approximately 33% or a third of all families in the United States will go on a family vacation this
year. Family vacations when you break it down is entirely for the parents. Parents and their children
are stressed during the school year, whether it s providing for the family or homework. Family
vacations may be stress reducing or enhancing depending on where you go, who you re going with,
and why you re going. Where you go can influence how your trip will be. If you go to an amusement
park, such as Disneyland, you should expect to have some enhancement of stress due to lines, prices,
or poor weather. However, if you are one of the individuals that get all sun and no lines, then you
might enjoy yourselves. If you are traveling to a relative s house or town, you may feel more relaxed if
you like said relatives. However, if you have too many relatives or don t like said relatives, you may
become even more stressed than before you left. If you travel to another state or outside the country
you are more likely to be relaxed if you go to your native language speaking country or region. My
family has traveled outside of our home multiple times before, and we have even lived in a whole
other continent, with different cultures and scenes, in Singapore. From Singapore, you have a wider
range of places to go for cheaper than in the United States. My favorite places to travel have been
New Zealand and the Philippines so far. When my family travels for fun, most of the time we end up
enjoying ourselves if it s planned well. The major problem with traveling outside of the country, and
even states, is the time difference. Jetlag, or time difference, is when your body is accustomed to your
home s time zone and when you travel and there is a time difference your body does not adjust for
what experts say one day for every hour difference. Compared to Texas the Philippines has a fourteen
hour time difference, and New Zealand has a nineteen hour time difference. Jetlag can also affect your
overall enjoyment of a family vacation because you have to be awake and not irritable in order to have
fun. On the other hand, vacationing is not about where you go, but who you go with. People who
vacation have a multitude of reasons to do

tracker: Price The most expensive activity trackers can provide you with a heart rate monitor, GPS
tracker, smartphone notifications, sedentary alerts, smart tracking, super bright display and a lot more
cool features. Such high end devices favor seasoned trainers with complex workout schedules. If you
are cash strapped, try to go for lower end devices with adequate features to get you started. Otherwise,

The Design Of The Antipsychiatry Coalition
The second website chosen for review under chapter four is titled The Antipsychiatry Coalition . The
latter is actually a movement whose members created this website to help them deal with the stigma
and stereotyping that is faced by people who have received psychiatric treatment (Antipsychiatry,
2015). The Antipsychiatry Coalition website mainly assists people who feel that harm and pain has
been inflicted on them as a result of them suffering from a psychiatric condition. In most cases, people
usually associate mental illnesses such as psychosis with complete lack of knowledge of one s
autonomous being (Hochwälder, 2013). Consequently, mentally ill patients as well as those placed in
psychiatric facilities are often branded as zombies (Hochwälder, 2013). Therefore, the recovery
process of such people is often difficult because they face humiliation verbally or physically from
others. As such, this website is very useful to people who are trying to liberate themselves from the
stigma that comes with being a psychiatric patient. The design of the Antipsychiatry Coalition website
is such that it makes use of links to provide information on various issues that revolve around mental
illness and psychiatry (Antipsychiatry, 2015). For instance, the link on myth of psychiatric diagnosis
enables the reader to read and learn about the things that people believe about psychiatry yet they are
false. There are also additional links such as psychiatric drugs, suicide,

America Doesn t Need Gun Control at Gun Shows Essay
America Doesn t Need Gun Control at Gun Shows
Gun control has been a highly debated issue for several years. In the past this debate has led to the
passage of gun control legislation, the most prominent bill being the Brady Bill. However, the national
legislation concerning gun control only applies to licensed gun dealers. This has left a huge gun
control loophole at the national level, because unlicensed dealers and private collectors are not
required to conduct background checks on potential customers before selling them a weapon.
Recently, this loophole has become the center of the gun control debate. Those who support gun
control at gun shows (generally liberals) are saying that it is necessary to restrict the sale of ... Show

Pate integrates this logos, ethos, and pathos into the body of his article which moves from criticism of
his opponents, to the denial of the existence of any problem, and finally to the accusation that his
opponents have misinterpreted the facts.
This article begins with pathos in the form of argument by humor in which Pate sarcastically
summarizes the argument of those who advocate gun control at gun shows saying gun shows have
suddenly become an irresistible magnet for foreign terrorists (par. 1). He also incorporates a large
amount of pathos through his word choice for the beginning paragraphs of the article. Pate refers to
the argument being made by gun control advocates as hogwash being sold to the American people in a
slick ad campaign (par. 2). By using the words hogwash and slick ad campaign , Pate is able to turn
the reader against gun control advocacy because he makes it seem as if gun control advocates are
trying to sell the American public on an idea that is worthless. Pate also personally attacks Andrew
McKelvey who is funding this ad campaign by saying McKelvey is in a personal crusade to restrict
Second Amendment rights (par. 3). Despite the fact that this is an ad hominem fallacy, this attack
instantly turns Pate s audience against Andrew McKelvey and any issue that he may support because

The Political Culture Of Politics
The term politics itself has changed over many years. To ask if the evolution of political culture
changes how people participate in politics is simple. The answer is yes. To begin with, let s define
political culture; Authors define the term political culture as the particular distribution of patterns of
orientation towards political objects among the members of a nation (Almond and Verba 1963: 13
cited in Welzel and Inglehart, 2014 p.285). Now let s define culture; the term culture covers a broad
set of phenomena. It includes traditions, habits, and patterns of behaviour shaped by a society s
prevailing beliefs, norms and values (Nolan and Lenski, 1999 cited in Welzel and Inglehart, 2014
p.285). Taking this into account, examples of culture could be how to play hopscotch in a playground
or following the rules to a game of tennis or badminton. To address the question, this essay will firstly
assess how any capable individual is able to participate in politics and secondly if the growth of
political culture has increased or decreased participation.
A question that is frequently asked is how can one be involved in politics? There are many options.
One option can be by joining a political party which interests them and that has a good manifesto with
policies that they would like to see take place and therefore taking part in elections and voting. A
second option can be by being part of a pressure group for example, one that represents those against
smoking called

Role Of Social Media Within The Online Community
CHAPTER 2 Literature Review The domain of sentiment analysis has witnessed a growth of
substantial research. Even though there were some attempts to study sentiment analysis previously, the
growing interest in the research area came up as a result of the eruption of user generated data in
online discussion forums and reviews and most especially social media. According to Pang and Lee
(2008), the research of sentiment analysis can be broadly classified into two main areas: research
investigating the polarity of subjective text and research evaluating the objectivity of subjectivity of
textual entities. The following section provides a literature review on the role of social media within
the online community. Next, an overview of sentiment analysis is discussed, twitter sentiment
analysis, the application of sentiment analysis in political discussions, sentiment analysis techniques,
the features of sentiment analysis and finally the challenges attached to sentiment analysis. The Role
of Social Media within the Online Community In the recent times, the massive growth of social media
platforms particularly Twitter has resulted in the generation of interest from various researchers from
different academic and professional field with the discourse of BIG DATA. One domain of research

Symbolism In Young Goodman Brown And The Birthmark
Hawthorne Prompt Throughout the short stories Young Goodman Brown and The Birthmark both
written by Nathaniel Hawthorne follow the formalistic approach. The Birthmark focuses on the flaws
of human beings as Georgiana who is married to Aylmer has a birthmark on her cheek. Aylmer
becomes obsessed with perfection and sees this birthmark as a major flaw with his wife. She does then
get the birth mark removed but dies soon after. There s a lot of symbolism between the two stories. In
the Young Goodman Brown , Brown s wife Faith wears a pink ribbon in her hair. The symbolism here
is the fact that Faith s ribbon is pink which is an in between color. Red is a symbol of evil or being
provocative and white is a symbol of purity and innocence.

Ancient Greek Theatre Analysis
Theatre History Ancient Greece In ancient Greece the Theatres were split in 3 major parts. The
Orchestra, The Skene or stage, and then the main theatre segment which was called the Koilon. The
Orchestra was placed in the middle of the theatre in a circular pattern. They had a Thymeli placed in
the middle of the Orchestra, the Thymeli was used as an altar and later was were the chorus stood. The
side of the Skene faced the audience serving as a background. The Skene had as many as three
entrances for actors. Ib between the Skene and the seats, there are two entrances, one on the right and
left which was called the Parodoi. The roof of these ancient greek theatres was flat and it was called
the Theologian. The auditorium of the theatre was shaped in a semi circle which was divided in two
Diazoma, upper and lower. The indoor theatres were called Odeia. The Athenian Theatre plays were
focused on the god Dionysus the god of wine, fertility, and agriculture. The Greek theatre had loud
music, bright colors, and extensive dancing. These plays showed violence and daily life, social and
ethical plays, war, murder, lust, and betrayal. Many playwrights were Sophocles who was born in
Athens the year of 496 B.C. and he wrote over hundred plays for Athenian theatre and only seven
have survived to this day. Another man who wrote plays was a man named Aeschylus, he was born in

According to Willoughby (2014), the community media and publishing media are two of the most
important types of the social media nowadays. The community media focusses upon the interaction
between users. The community media is such as Facebook. By contrast, publish media, such as
Youtube and Instagram, emphasizes the sharing of different media format, like video and picture. The
social features come second to the content sharing. As the marketing campaign of share a Coke is in
interest, it is essential for the brand of Coca Cola to choose the right categories of social media. From
the argument by Evans (2012). Indeed, as the campaign of share a Coke aims to creates conversation

Use Of Illusion And Hide Reality Plays A Heavy Role On...
The use of illusion to hide reality plays a heavy role in William Shakespeare s Othello . Illusion is
used frequently throughout the play in relation to love, friendship and character personalities. Some
characters, especially Othello, cannot see through the illusion and assume what they see as reality.
Iago, however, uses this to his advantage by creating multiple illusions to manipulate the other
characters for power and revenge.
Iago is seen by most of the characters as an honest and trustworthy man who is always willing to listen
and give advice. Cassio, one of the characters who is fooled by the illusionary personality Iago has
created, says I never knew/ a Florentine more kind and honest (III.i.38 39). The audience however
knows that this is not the case, since at the beginning he says I am not what I am (I.i.62), meaning that
he has created an illusion of himself to fool others into believing he is trustworthy. Iago states I follow

Canadian History Has Profoundly Shaped By Numerous Events
Canadian history has been profoundly shaped by numerous events. The fifteenth Prime Minister,
Pierre Elliot Trudeau remains one of the greatest citizens to define the nation s identity. During his
fifteen years in the position, he makes multiple decisions and contributions of great importance
towards the growth and prosperity of Canadian society. As a result of his ambitions and efforts,
widespread popularity known as Trudeaumania begins as a phenomenon that had existed like no other
before his time (Gwyn 14). He touched the dreams of an entire generation of Canadians and his fame
will continue for future Canadian generations, as his accomplishments positively affected the country,
leaving an enduring legacy that propels a still flourishing Canadian ideal of peace and perseverance
(Gzowski Peter and more 50). Further to his overall popularity amongst Canadian citizens, Pierre
Trudeau is a defining figure in Canada s rich history, as he unites Quebec with the rest of Canada, he
is responsible for the passing of both the Constitution Act in 1982 and the Multicultural Act in 1971.
One of the defining accomplishments of Trudeau s leadership is his strategic influence in the
unification of Quebec with the rest of Canada. Expressing his opinion towards Quebec, Trudeau once
said, I am trying to put Quebec in its place, and the place of Quebec is in Canada (Gzowski and more

The Benefits And Disadvantages Of An Apartment House
Every newly married couple should dream of a happy and comfortable life. Most of them have made
plans for the future of the family. Among the things that should be in their planning is the selection of
a place of residence. Residence is the place where a person lives most of the time. A residence may be
eligible for certain tax breaks. For example, one may be able to write off the interest on a mortgage on
a primary residence. Various rules exist to determine what constitutes one s residence for tax purposes.
(Farlex, 2012). Having a comfortable home is a dream for every newly married couple. Even
university students are also indirectly involved with finding homes to stay despite not completing their

Apartment house is also called apartment block or block of flats, building that contain more than
single dwelling unit. It is designed for separate housekeeping tenements and offer other amenities such
as delivery services, laundry services and gardens. An apartment is a best accommodation option for
those who have just started their career or moved to a new place. It is important to take into
considerations all the advantages and disadvantages in choosing the type of accommodation. First of
all, apartment is located in a desirable city location, whereas the single homeowner houses are more
expensive. It can be beneficial for workers to walk for work and gain a great city s nightlife view.
Other than that, the great things about apartment is their amenities such as gymnasium, swimming
pool and tennis court. Not all the resident would be afford to pay the fee if they go to other outside

think about the security when moving into a new property. The huge advantage of living in apartment
is there are several layers of added security that have a very complex procedure. There is a code that
prepared for the resident and a lot of CCTV cameras around the places. The security in a flat is much
less than apartment which they only have security guards to guard the buildings. Lastly, there usually
less cost when living in a flat. The owner of the complex is responsible in managing the maintenance

Reasons Why The US Should Convert To The Metric System
So much hard work and money has been lost just because America has refused to use the metric
system; why do we continue to make life so hard for ourselves and foreigners? Only three countries in
the world don t use the metric system: Burma, Liberia, and the United States. Since the Metric Act
was passed by the Senate in 1866, the U.S. has started using the metric system on things like food
labels and in the military. Yet, we continue to use the imperial system (or USCS) for body weight
scales, food recipes, and road signs, which makes it difficult for any foreigner traveling to the U.S., or
any American traveling anywhere else. Therefore, for the ease of Americans, for better interaction
with people from other countries, and for science, medicine, and international commerce, the United
States should convert to the metric system.
First of all, the metric system is much easier to use than the U.S. imperial system. The metric system
is much more organized because it is based on the number 10 and adds prefixes like kilo, milli, and
centi. The system America uses seems almost random and is much more difficult to use. We shouldn t

should convert is because it would make traveling to and from the U.S. a lot easier. Going to a
different country coming from America (and the other way around) can be very confusing if you do
anything that requires measuring food, knowing your weight or height, or knowing the distance to a
place. It shouldn t have to be this way. This difference in measurement systems can even be
dangerous. For example: foreigners traveling to America or Americans traveling somewhere else
would have a lot of difficulty figuring out the speed limit because the road signs would be using miles
per hour when that person thinks in kilometers per hour or vice versa. Why is the United States still

Cancerous Brain Tumors
Tumors are an area of swelling in a part of the both that does not always create inflammation. These
tumors are usually created by an irregular growth of the tissue. There are two individual kinds of
tumors, one called malignant, which is cancerous and the other benign, which is noncancerous. There
aren t any environmental factors that can usually cause either one of these tumors. Genetic disease
although, can cause certain tumors that can overpower the genes that stop the formation of tumors. A
genetic disease such as neurofibromatosis type 2 can be a prominent cause of a cancerous brain tumor.
Malignant tumors are harmful to the body and need immediate action. They have an absence of a
border and metastasize by growing in different parts of the body once they have traveled throughout
the vascular system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, even benign tumors have a risk of causing damage to the brain through either compression
or infiltration.
A tumor in the brain is dangerous if it starts to compress parts of the brain causing neurological
symptoms. This action can destroy the brain tissue it surrounds or it can block fluid in the brain from
flowing. Although it is not cancerous it can also compress parts of the spinal cord depending where it
is in the brain and can also stop the flow of blood in veins surrounding it.
Some symptoms of brain tumors can be someone experiencing a seizure for the first, usually occurring
in older patients. Because the all areas of the brain are what control the functions of the body, certain
areas where the brain tumor is located may cause gradual speech impairments, or physical
impairments such as difficulty walking. A lesser symptom of brain tumors would be headaches that
can be caused by compression of the tissue which can occur in any age of a patient with this type of

Far From Heaven
Cathy Whitaker as well as her friend s and their friendship definitely represent the roles a female wore
back in the 1950 s. Cathy and her friend s all represented the perfect housewife, cooking, cleaning,
raising the children and catering to their men. Their main focus wa their family, their gatherings, their
dinner parties and trying to keep up their social status within their own inner circle and within their
own community. Also, the women wore dresses and skirts, had their hair and makeup perfectly done
as if they were ready for a night out, not for a day spent at home doing housework. The men, in the

Supply And Demand Of Gasoline
Gasoline is produced by a distillation process where crude oil is heated and fumes are captured and
converted into many products such as kerosene, jet fuel, and gasoline to name a few. Therefore the
price of crude oil, which is extracted from oil wells beneath the earths surface, is a major factor in gas
prices. The five leading oil producing countries and their approximate shares of the world supply of
oil are: Soviet Union 21%, Saudi Arabia 17%, The United States 15%, Venezuela 4%, and Mexico
4%. These five countries made up 61 % of the worlds oil production back in 1980 and an organization
called O.P.E.C. controls approximately four fifths of the worlds oil reserves in the non communist
world.
Factors effect to oil price
Price is depended on supply and demand. There are two different laws: The Law of Demand and the
Law of Supply. The Law of Demand is a relationship, which involves price and quantity. It states that
as the price of a product goes up (oil goes up), the quantity of the product (oil) will go down;
therefore, this is a strong relationship between price and quantity. The Law of Supply, however, is the
direct relationship between price and the quantity in which the seller produces. So as price goes up,
the quantity the seller will produce will go up because the price allows for the seller to produce more
output. Demand shifts are caused by economic growths. Economic growth is an increase in the
capacity of an economy to produce goods and services, from a certain

registry is for both elective and urgent cases. Recently, we had a patient that came in through the

we encountered. We stayed focused and we worked through the problem as a team and we were able
to save someone s life. The heart team was paged. We furiously ran down the hallway to talk to the
patient. The only problem was we couldn t understand him. He was Hindu. We frantically asked for a

telling him that we needed to take him to the Catherization Lab and an emergency angioplasty. The

THEME of Miss Brill In the story Miss Brill, an old, lonely lady spends her Sunday observing people

really an integral part of the scene and would be missed if she weren t there. Her illusion is shattered
by a chance remark at the end of the story, and she returns home, clearly devastated by her new
understanding of her place in life. What this story is trying to illustrate is that sometimes people can be

No doubt somebody would have noticed if she hadn t been there; she was part of the performance
after all Miss Brill nearly laughed out loud (100). This realization eventually moves Miss Brill to
tears. Being a part of something as full of life as the park scene gives her a sense of belonging.
However, by this point in the story, the reader is aware that Miss Brill has deluded herself. Actually,
no one at the park is even aware she s around, and the truth is that if she weren t there, no one would
miss her at all. Happiness built on an illusion can only last so long. In the story, Miss Brill s happiness
is shattered by a single chance remark when the young couple who she has cast as the hero and
herione in her play casually insult her. Why does she come here at all who wants her? Why doesn t she
keep her silly old mug at home? (138). The story does not tell us Miss Brill s personal reactions to this
remark; instead, the point of view shifts so that we observe her actions as she goes home. However,
these actions are enough to illustrate that her self view has been destroyed. The first example of her
change in perspective is when she fails to go into the bakery, the usual climax to the Sunday park visit.
But today she passed the baker s by, climbed the stairs, went into the little dark room her room like a

Rhodopsin And All-Trans Retinol
nents, opsin and all trans retinal. When this happens, retinal gets reduced to retinol and transported to
the pigment epithelium. There the retinol gets converted back into 11 cis retinal for the cycle to begin
again.
The phototransduction cascade converts light into electrical signals in the rod and cone cells, and in
the photosensitive ganglion cells of the retina of the eye. This biological cycle converts photons into
electrical signals in the retina. Rod photoreceptors in vertebrates are responsible for initiating vision
by allowing light to isomerize 11 cis retinal chromophore of rhodopsin. This results in the rhodopsin
to be excited and activates transducin to stimulate cCMP hydrolysis by the PDE, leading to less cGMP
in the outer segment of photoreceptors. The decrease in cGMP closes channels, which haults the entry
of sodium and calcium. This will lead to a hyperpolarized cell, as well as reducing the synaptic release

Character Comparison: Macbeth Throne of Blood
In the tragic play by Shakespeare, The Tragedy of Macbeth Macbeth, and the Japanese film, Throne of
Blood, many characters are direct parallels of each other. There are many similarities and yet, key
differences within each of the characters. Macbeth and Washizu share many of the same character
traits, as do their wives, Lady Macbeth and Asaji, respectively. We can also see these similarities
between Banquo and Miki and the three witches and the Forest Spirit. Macbeth and Washizu are

They both have the will to manipulate and command the actions of their husbands and show

Macbeth and Asaji. Lady Macbeth s mental health takes longer to decline into almost complete

about keeping the throne secure and is not as happy as she thought she might be. It takes a while but
eventually she cracks and has somewhat of a mental breakdown. Asaji on the other hand keeps her
composure throughout most of the film. She is obviously concerned about succeeding in her
endeavors but she was able to keep her focus unlike Lady Macbeth. It is only very suddenly that she
suffers the same fate as Lady Macbeth. Both women are found washing nonexistent blood from their
hands while sleepwalking. One other crucial difference between the two women is their role as women
within their respective societies. Lady Macbeth does not wish to be treated like a woman at all. At one
point in the play she even says, Come, you spirits that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, and fill
me from the crown to the toe topful of direst cruelty! (Shakespeare 1.5:40 44) Asaji takes a vastly

Essay on David Hume’s Treatment of Mind
This paper critically examines Hume s argument against the knowledge/existence of substantival
mind. This denial is rooted in his epistemology which includes a theory of how complex ideas which
lack corresponding impressions are manufactured by the imagination, in conjunction with the
memory, on the basis of three relations among impressions: resemblance, continuity and constant
conjunction. The crux of my critique consists in pointing out that these relations are such that only an
enduring, unified agent could interact with them in the way Hume describes. I note that Hume
attempts to provide such an agent by invoking the activities of imagination and memory, but that it is
unclear where these belong in his system. After discussing the ... Show more content on

To demonstrate this, I will give first a brief rehearsal of Hume s epistemology in general, then as it is
applied specifically to the mind.
Hume s Epistemology
The great project of Empiricism, in its incipience, was to discover, in Locke s words, ...the original,
certainty, and extent of human knowledge... (1) In his Treatise of Human Nature, Hume is intent upon
developing a science of Man (2) which would acquaint us with the extent and force of human
understanding, and [which] could explain the nature of the ideas we employ, and of the operations we
perform in our reasonings. (3) Hume hoped that this Science of Man would serve as a solid foundation
for all other sciences, both natural and philosophical, and that it would ultimately eradicate conflicting
theories in all fields by defining the limits of human knowledge.
For Hume, all knowledge originates with experience, and all experience is of one s own perceptions.
We have direct knowledge only of perceptions, not of what the perceptions are of (if, indeed, they may
be counted as of anything); for the perception stands between the perceiving mind and its supposed
real world object. Hume says,
... tis impossible for us so much as to conceive or form an idea of any thing specifically different from
[our perceptions]. Let us fix our attention out of ourselves as much as possible: Let us chase our
imaginations to the heavens, or

Analysis of a Poem “We wear the mask” Essay
Amber Davis Professor Quirk Literature 101 February 28, 2013 We Wear the Mask The lyric poem
We wear the mask by Paul Laurence Dunbar is a poem about the African American race, and how they
had to conceal their unhappiness and anger from whites. This poem was written in 1895, which is
around the era when slavery was abolished. Dunbar, living in this time period, was able to experience
the gruesome effects of racism, hatred and prejudice against blacks at its worst. Using literary
techniques such as: alliteration, metaphor, persona, cacophony, apostrophe and paradox, Paul Dunbar s
poem suggests blacks of his time wore masks of smiling faces to hide their true feelings. ... Show

Essentially, the person of this poem is asking why should the world get the right to know why they are
truly upset, and potentially use it against them; instead, have pride, hold your head up high, and put on
your mask. In doing so, the literary term paradox comes into play. This poem is about the true feelings
of blacks being hidden behind masks, when also the poem itself hides the fundamental issue of racism
from even being mentioned that alone is a paradox because the poem has a mask on as well. This
poem can also be seen as a paradox because this so called we is supposed to be wearing a mask when
in fact they are expressing their feelings and becoming vulnerable, aka no more mask. Although each
stanza has a bit of alliteration, the second stanza is the most dominant. Dunbar writes, Why should the
world be over wise,/ In counting all our tears and sighs?/ Nay, let them only see us, while/ We wear
our masks (6 9). The alliteration in this stanza is used heavily with the letter w. With the use of this
alliteration, it creates a sense of flow that helps the speaker get his point across more smoothly.
Although the poem is more cacophonic, and harsh, rather than euphonic, and harmonious, the use of
alliteration helps highlight the importance of this stanza s sayings. The alliteration aspect of this stanza

This paper will focus on the cons that occur from the widely populated ships visiting ports in the
Bahamas. More so, the problem being that these cruise ships are bringing thousands of visitors
weekly, yet are failing to support port destinations economically which leaves the port locals and
entrepreneurs suffering. Specifically this paper will look into the cause of the issue, which is mostly
the cruise ships and management teams of the cruise companies. Further, this paper will explore the
solution to how these cruise companies can better support the port communities and aiding to the local
environment. More so, having the ships promote and advertise local recreational activities could be a
possible solution. As well, what the local entrepreneurs could be doing to appeal more directly to the

Comparing The Characters In Ray Bradbury s The Paterson...
In Ray Bradbury s fictional novel about the horrifying future, he discusses topics that, politically and
socially, can relate to Judith Ortiz Cofer s short story; The Paterson Public Library. These two pertain
to each other because both Bradbury s and Cofer s characters are afraid of situations that involve
books. Though they do compare in many ways, there are also differences between the stories.
Cofer says that every trip to the library would be a dangerous one because of the black girl Lorraine. It
took me through enemy territory, says Cofer. Bradbury s character Montag was afraid of being seen
with books because they were illegal and he was afraid that he would be burned for having them. In a
similar manner, Cofer was afraid of being in a situation on her way to get her books. She was afraid
that the older bully would hurt her.
Montag is more hostile when he takes action in Bradbury s novel. Cofer does not take action, she is a
tutor for her bully and she cannot get through to the bully. Bradbury s bully, it turns out, is one of
Montag s friends. Beatty is a friend of Montag in the beginning of Bradbury s novel, later in the story,

Cofer preserves her intelligence and gains intelligence through the use of books. This could show
students that books are a great way to acquire knowledge instead of just school. Bradbury hints at the
way we used books in our society and abuse them today. We do not appreciate the way that they are
mistreated and basically left to rot in the unused libraries. Since we treat books very wrong and don t
use them to gain knowledge and explore the depths of our imagination, Clarisse asks a very simple,
yet deep question; Are you

Gerardo s Argumentative Essay
During many years I have observed a Terran name Gerardo, an Innovator. His first experience with
technology was the original Nintendo which was introduced to him through the television advertising.
It was an 8 bit system that according to Gerardo incorporated phenomenal programming techniques to
create experiences that will go down in history. Gerardo s first true computing experience was in 1992
while a freshman in high school with an Acer running Windows 3.1. He was introduced to this new
technology just after the emergence of the term surfing the Internet . He used to connect to the internet
using AOL Discs with primitive usage of internet on 56k modems. Seeking for new experiences with
technology and willing to develop new ideas,

Part B Integrated Summary- Surgical Safety
PART B INTEGRATED SUMMARY SURGICAL SAFETY
The World Health Organisation (WHO) implemented the surgical safety checklist, to minimise the
discrepancies that occur as a result of improper identification of the patient (appendix O post 3).
Improper identification leads to wrong procedure, hence complication and possibly death (Position
Statement Surgical Safety 2015). The WHO checklist helps to improve surgical safety through
confirming safety practices are upheld and developing better communication within the
multidisciplinary team (Position Statement Surgical Safety 2015), thus providing optimum patient
care (ACORN Competency standard 5). Surgery related complication and mortality was reduce by
33%, through a study of eight hospitals from 2007 to 2008 (Position Statement Surgical Safety 2015).
Therefore proving that compliance with safety measure were increased as a result of endorsing the
SSC, and obliges to competency standard 3.3. Through briefing and debriefing, standard of care is
improved, as the whole multidisciplinary team is made aware of the procedure, and allows for optimal
performance, which decrease surgery time, thus improve surgical safety (ACORN Competency
Standard 9). Furthermore it is important that each hospital adapt their own policy in regards to the
type of facility, such as in the occurrence of near miss episode (appendix 1,), institutions must refine
their policy to provide the best care for the patients (Position Statement Surgical Safety 2015).

Catholic Religious Beliefs
The Catholic Church s current pope, Pope Francis once said, A good Catholic meddles in politics,
offering the best of himself, so that those who govern can govern. But what is the best that we can
offer to those who govern? Prayer! Catholics are approximately half of the number of Christians,
reaching more than one billion members. This number makes it one of the largest religions in the
world. In 2003, the Catholic population in the United States was 63.4 million (Roman Catholic
Church, 2017). The Catholic Church s basic beliefs influence their demographics, party affiliation,
stances on different political issues, and involvement in American politics.
I attended a service at The Cathedral of Saint Joseph in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. At this service,
politics were not directly mentioned, but Father Darin Schmidt said a few interesting words. In a
message to the congregation he said, love unconditionally, without limits. Additionally, he also said,
peace, liberty, and justice for all. I think these quotes are helpful in understanding the Catholic Church
s ideologies. During prayer, they mentioned a few current issues including support for the military, the
Las Vegas shooting, refugees, and victims of natural disasters. Besides these few observations, the
cathedral did express any straightforward political statements.
One of the best ways to understand a religion s political views is to understand their basic beliefs and
what they feel to be good and moral. The

T. Coraghessan Boyle s Greasy Lake
Greasy Lake Essay In a short story of Greasy Lake by T. Coraghessan Boyle points out the characters
from going Good to be Bad where everything happened in Greasy Lake. It all started with the main
characters, The Narrator, Digby, and Jeff, being bad characters and drinking underage. One night they
all went up to Greasy Lake, and they did any terrible act that was possible. Later that night, they were
driving and Digby spotted Tony Lovett s car. The story gets worse when the narrator loses his keys,
and realized it was not Tony s car. Digby and Jeff were involved to fight off the bad character and the
narrator had no choice but to use a tire iron he kept under the driver s seat and smash the bad character
head. Another car shows up to scene and everyone ran away, once the narrator ended up in the lake
and found the dead body floating. Right where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the characters named Digby, goes to Cornell University, and has his father pay his tuition. The
second character Jeff, was thinking of quitting school to become a painter/musician/head shop. The
third character is the narrator, who always wears a torn up leather jacket and was also setting bad
example to his friends and anyone around. The narrator started his badness by sniffed glue, or
somebody claimed it was cocaine and drank gin and grape juice, (Boyle 687). Together the teenagers
were being rebellious looking for trouble in the summer evening. Throughout the story the characters
ran into some trouble, but what caught the narrator to change his appearance was when he saw the
dead body in the lake. When the group reunited by the next morning, they appear to be disappointed
of the action they had taken. The end of story changed the character s actions from being bad to
rebellious free. Boyle uses characters to provide a lesson for readers to understand that there are
consequence for your

Reading the first chapter is not just for pleasure or information, but for sympathy and relation. As an international student, I find the story of the author s dad directly connecting to my life as transiting from Vietnam to the US. His dad boats across the Pacific with the hope for creating the prosper Liu family. Although he wants to maintain Chinese manner, Chao hua Liu, the author s father naturally assimilates into American culture. Having lived in the US for six months, not long enough to completely get rid of my Vietnamese origin, I sometimes find it difficult to preserve my cultural traditions while living in American environment, which requires me to be completely assimilated into it. Going to school, I no longer have to wear in traditional dress, no longer have to bend my body for 90 degree to greet an adult, and no longer have to wait for adults on dinner table to eat first before I start to eat. Flashing back to what I used to traditionally do in Vietnam, I feel regretful, ashamed, and especially confused whether these changes are assimilation, or just simply accommodation. Yet, I can assert certainly that what I have experienced in past six months is categorized as assimilation. Due to Eric Liu s narration about his father s life, I am again clear about my experience as well as the definition of assimilation: I take American information, trends and experience and then incorporate with my existing culture. And unfortunately, I find a way to get rid of my traditions and replace with American ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Dr. Caligare People often take for granted the importance of the first impression, the few pivotal seconds where the eye decides what someone is like before they ve spoken a single word. In The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Weine uses costume design and German expressionist makeup to visually assign roles of sanity and insanity to the characters that are immediately identifiable. In doing so, Weine insinuates the people are all too willing to accept these visual cues without question, when in reality the line between the sane and insane may not be so clear cut. In order to achieve this effect, Weine first establishes a sense of normalcy by appealing to society s picture of the common man. At the beginning of the film, the audience is not privy to any madness, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, a closer look at the characters appearance following the big twist challenges this simplicity. The first clue that something is off is the nature of the people that inhabit the asylum, especially Cesare. A close up on Cesare reveals that his appearance has been skewed by Francis madness. His messy hair has been combed into place, reminiscent of Alan s normal locks. Most notable, the dark circles under his eyes have disappeared, implying that Cesare is not, and was never, a somnambulist. Thus, the truth behind Francis story begins to crumble. The discovery of Francis insanity is realized by his courtyard companion, whose visible shock and horror is paralleled in the audience. In this moment, it is revealed that everything has been told from the perspective of a madman, destroying the credibility of the entire story. The ambiguity increases as Queen Jane receives another close up: her makeup looks the same softened, even. Jane s appearance barely changed, and the fact that her makeup was even darker in the flashback where she was normal blurs the line between Francis delusions and reality. Afterwards, Caligari comes down in a way similar to the beginning, emerging out of the shadows. However, the makeup, hair, and costuming has gone, revealing a completely normal looking person. Without Julius Erving, David Thompson, Walter Davis, and Elgin Baylor there would never have been a Michael Jordan. I evolved from them, he argued. The book was awesome in terms of the detailed description of Michael s life. What I liked the most was the tips he supplied to his readers. He was considerate enough to share how he reached the top. The fairytale of Cinderella has been one of the most told bedtime stories of all time. Most people can say they associate the story of Cinderella with the 1950 version of Walt Disney. Many people are oblivious of the many versions of this fantasy tale. The original fairytale of Cinderella, by the Brother s Grimm, was written in 1812 which had many differences from the Walt Disney version. Like most of Walt Disney s films, they are produced to capture the attention of a certain type of audience, the young. Since Disney films are targeted to the young, they conclude with a romance and happy ending. Unfortunately, because of such endings, the original story is being manipulated taking away from its original content. One of the scenes that have been changed from its original version are the different rolls of Cinderella s parents, Cinderella s godmother, Cinderella s character and the stepsisters punishment for being cruel to Cinderella. I believe that Walt Disney changed some of the original parts of the Brother s Grimm version of the story due to some the graphic scenes, which did not stay faithful to the original version of Cinderella. The latter is actually a movement whose members created this website to help them deal with the stigma and stereotyping that is faced by people who have received psychiatric treatment (Antipsychiatry, 2015). The Antipsychiatry Coalition website mainly assists people who feel that harm and pain has been inflicted on them as a result of them suffering from a psychiatric condition. In most cases, people usually associate mental illnesses such as psychosis with complete lack of knowledge of one s autonomous being (Hochwälder, 2013). Consequently, mentally ill patients as well as those placed in psychiatric facilities are often branded as zombies (Hochwälder, 2013). Therefore, the recovery process of such people is often difficult because they face humiliation verbally or physically from others. As such, this website is very useful to people who are trying to liberate themselves from the stigma that comes with being a psychiatric patient. The design of the Antipsychiatry Coalition website is such that it makes use of links to provide information on various issues that revolve around mental illness and psychiatry (Antipsychiatry, 2015). This has left a huge gun control loophole at the national level, because unlicensed dealers and private collectors are not required to conduct background checks on potential customers before selling them a weapon. He also incorporates a large amount of pathos through his word choice for the beginning paragraphs of the article. Pate refers to the argument being made by gun control advocates as hogwash being sold to the American people in a slick ad campaign (par. 2). By using the words hogwash and slick ad campaign , Pate is able to turn the reader against gun control advocacy because he makes it seem as if gun control advocates are trying to sell the American public on an idea that is worthless. Pate also personally attacks Andrew McKelvey who is funding this ad campaign by saying McKelvey is in a personal crusade to restrict Second Amendment rights (par. 3). • 16. The Political Culture Of Politics The term politics itself has changed over many years. To ask if the evolution of political culture changes how people participate in politics is simple. The answer is yes. To begin with, let s define political culture; Authors define the term political culture as the particular distribution of patterns of orientation towards political objects among the members of a nation (Almond and Verba 1963: 13 cited in Welzel and Inglehart, 2014 p.285). Now let s define culture; the term culture covers a broad set of phenomena. It includes traditions, habits, and patterns of behaviour shaped by a society s prevailing beliefs, norms and values (Nolan and Lenski, 1999 cited in Welzel and Inglehart, 2014 p.285). Taking this into account, examples of culture could be how to play hopscotch in a playground or following the rules to a game of tennis or badminton. To address the question, this essay will firstly assess how any capable individual is able to participate in politics and secondly if the growth of political culture has increased or decreased participation. A question that is frequently asked is how can one be involved in politics? There are many options. One option can be by joining a political party which interests them and that has a good manifesto with policies that they would like to see take place and therefore taking part in elections and voting. Illusion is used frequently throughout the play in relation to love, friendship and character personalities. Some characters, especially Othello, cannot see through the illusion and assume what they see as reality. Iago, however, uses this to his advantage by creating multiple illusions to manipulate the other characters for power and revenge. Iago is seen by most of the characters as an honest and trustworthy man who is always willing to listen and give advice. Cassio, one of the characters who is fooled by the illusionary personality Iago has created, says I never knew/ a Florentine more kind and honest (III.i.38 39). The audience however knows that this is not the case, since at the beginning he says I am not what I am (I.i.62), meaning that he has created an illusion of himself to fool others into believing he is trustworthy. Iago states I follow him to serve my turn upon him (I.i.39), meaning that he only pretends to be loyal to Othello, acting as a good servant so that when the opportunity arises, Othello will not suspect him of sabotaging his marriage. Throughout the entire play, he pretends to be Othello s friend, feigning reluctance in voicing his suspicions about an affair between Desdemona and Cassio. Yet, we continue to use the imperial system (or USCS) for body weight scales, food recipes, and road signs, which makes it difficult for any foreigner traveling to the U.S., or any American traveling anywhere else. Therefore, for the ease of Americans, for better interaction with people from other countries, and for science, medicine, and international commerce, the United States should convert to the metric system. First of all, the metric system is much easier to use than the U.S. imperial system. The metric system is much more organized because it is based on the number 10 and adds prefixes like kilo, milli, and centi. The system America uses seems almost random and is much more difficult to use. We shouldn t have to teach students two different measurement systems just because we ... There aren t any environmental factors that can usually cause either one of these tumors. Genetic disease although, can cause certain tumors that can overpower the genes that stop the formation of tumors. A genetic disease such as neurofibromatosis type 2 can be a prominent cause of a cancerous brain tumor. Malignant tumors are harmful to the body and need immediate action. Although it is not cancerous it can also compress parts of the spinal cord depending where it is in the brain and can also stop the flow of blood in veins surrounding it. Some symptoms of brain tumors can be someone experiencing a seizure for the first, usually occurring in older patients. Supply And Demand Of Gasoline Gasoline is produced by a distillation process where crude oil is heated and fumes are captured and converted into many products such as kerosene, jet fuel, and gasoline to name a few. Therefore the price of crude oil, which is extracted from oil wells beneath the earths surface, is a major factor in gas prices. The five leading oil producing countries and their approximate shares of the world supply of oil are: Soviet Union 21%, Saudi Arabia 17%, The United States 15%, Venezuela 4%, and Mexico 4%. These five countries made up 61 % of the worlds oil production back in 1980 and an organization called O.P.E.C. controls approximately four fifths of the worlds oil reserves in the non communist world. Factors effect to oil price Price is depended on supply and demand. There are two different laws: The Law of Demand and the Law of Supply. The Law of Demand is a relationship, which involves price and quantity. It states that as the price of a product goes up (oil goes up), the quantity of the product (oil) will go down; therefore, this is a strong relationship between price and quantity. The Law of Supply, however, is the direct relationship between price and the quantity in which the seller produces. So as price goes up, the quantity the seller will produce will go up because the price allows for the seller to produce more output. Demand shifts are caused by economic growths. There the retinol gets converted back into 11 cis retinal for the cycle to begin again. The phototransduction cascade converts light into electrical signals in the rod and cone cells, and in the photosensitive ganglion cells of the retina of the eye. This biological cycle converts photons into electrical signals in the retina. Rod photoreceptors in vertebrates are responsible for initiating vision by allowing light to isomerize 11 cis retinal chromophore of rhodopsin. This results in the rhodopsin to be excited and activates transducin to stimulate cCMP hydrolysis by the PDE, leading to less cGMP in the outer segment of photoreceptors. The decrease in cGMP closes channels, which haults the entry of sodium and calcium. This will lead to a hyperpolarized cell, as well as reducing the synaptic release of neurotransmitter glutamate. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This denial is rooted in his epistemology which includes a theory of how complex ideas which lack corresponding impressions are manufactured by the imagination, in conjunction with the memory, on the basis of three relations among impressions: resemblance, continuity and constant conjunction. The crux of my critique consists in pointing out that these relations are such that only an enduring, unified agent could interact with them in the way Hume describes. Hume s Epistemology The great project of Empiricism, in its incipience, was to discover, in Locke s words, ...the original, certainty, and extent of human knowledge... (1) In his Treatise of Human Nature, Hume is intent upon developing a science of Man (2) which would acquaint us with the extent and force of human understanding, and [which] could explain the nature of the ideas we employ, and of the operations we perform in our reasonings. (3) Hume hoped that this Science of Man would serve as a solid foundation for all other sciences, both natural and philosophical, and that it would ultimately eradicate conflicting theories in all fields by defining the limits of human knowledge. For Hume, all knowledge originates with experience, and all experience is of one s own perceptions. We have direct knowledge only of perceptions, not of what the perceptions are of (if, indeed, they may be counted as of anything); for the perception stands between the perceiving mind and its supposed real world object. Dunbar, living in this time period, was able to experience the gruesome effects of racism, hatred and prejudice against blacks at its worst. This poem is about the true feelings of blacks being hidden behind masks, when also the poem itself hides the fundamental issue of racism from even being mentioned that alone is a paradox because the poem has a mask on as well. This poem can also be seen as a paradox because this so called we is supposed to be wearing a mask when in fact they are expressing their feelings and becoming vulnerable, aka no more mask. Dunbar writes, Why should the world be over wise,/ In counting all our tears and sighs?/ Nay, let them only see us, while/ We wear our masks (6 9).
