Situation analysis
St Vincent de Paul is a non profit organisation that aims at achieving awareness and improving the
lives of those who face social injustice in Australia. These issues include, homelessness, poverty and
asylum seekers (St Vincent de Paul, 2016). This non profit organises many fundraising events

This simple message is very powerful in the way that it can teach people that one simple act of

Each target public will have a different key message aimed at them because no target public is or

This key message demonstrates to the children that even the simplest of acts, such as a small
donation, is still important in raising awareness of social injustices. It allows these young children
and teenagers to realise that it is important to do whatever they can to others as it can make a
different no matter how big or small the gesture is.
2.Employees and CEOs of Major Corporations and Organisations в†’ Walk 4 Others
This key message will symbolise the importance of not thinking of themselves and doing acts that
solely benefit themselves. They should learn to participate in events that can benefit those who are
less fortunate.

The Importance Of Festivals And Holidays On Pre Colonial...
Another area of Nigerian life that is practically unequalled by any other country s is in the way
festivals are celebrated (Obi 136). Festivals and holidays have made a perpetual impact on Pre
colonial and Post colonial Igbo culture. As time has passed over the years, additional holidays of
the Igbo cultureare celebrated and traditional aspects of festival celebration have been modernized.
Furthermore, some holidayand festival celebrations have altered based on its secular and
religious aspects. During Pre colonial Igbo culture, the foundations of festival and holiday
celebration were established with one very special festival called the New Yam Festival being
the most important celebrations in Igboland. According to Zaccheus Onumba Dibiaezue
Memorial Libraries , the New Yam festival is celebrated between August and October in order of
thanking the gods for a good harvest and provides opportunity for a social gathering of tribes
(Heritage and Culture). Religion is exceedingly important to the Igbo s and the yam crop also
known as the king crop measured wealth in ancient Igbo society which is why the festival is highly
significant. Based on the book Things Fall Apartthe most important god which tied to the festival
was Ani, the earth goddess and the source of all fertility (Achebe 36). If honor was not given to
Ani, destruction from weather would kill the crops which affected overall affected status of wealth.

The Characters of Shrek and Lord Farquaad Essay
The Characters of Shrek and Lord Farquaad
In this essay I am going to analyse the characters of Shrek and Lord Farquaad. I will also explore
the different presentational devices used by the film creators of Shrek to craft an unusual fairytale.
This film cost $6 million to produce. It is based on a traditional fairytale type story but subverted.
The film was produced by Dreamworks Steven Spielberg s production company. Dreamworks
make animated films. It has a rival animation company in the form of Disney. It was Disney who
first brought out a long animated film which was Snow White in the 1950 s.
The first computer generated animation was also brought out by Disney called Toy Story in... Show

We are astonished as the viewers as we were expecting a conventional fairytale. There is a good
use of toilet humour and it is aimed at children or teenagers. We know right from the start that Shrek
is a nice character as he has a comical impact on the film. The sort of humour makes it different
from normal, conventional fairytales and also the big, ugly ogre would normally be a nasty
creature but we know straight away that this is not the case and he proves to be quite the contrary
as the story unfolds.
At the beginning of the film Shrek tries to threaten the characters that he meets, but Donkey, the
mice, the storybook characters and Princess Fiona are not intimidated by him or his appearance. He
tries to make them frightened by reminding them that he s a scary, horrible monster. Although
Shrek is an ogre he is really nice deep down.
When the storybook characters arrive Shrek threatens to throw them all out of his swamp and back
where they came from. There is a close up shot of his mouth, this implicates that Shrek is going to
eat them or kill them and enhances the threat.
Shrek tries to frighten them by threatening them, by shouting at them and the close up shot of his
mouth develops the idea that Shrek is trying to be scary. The storybook characters applaud Shrek.

Dailah Quotes
The speaker mocks Charles Darwin the scientist and the man as well. She doubts the theory of
evolution which says that apes are the origin of human species reducing it into mere likeliness to a
chimpanzee: Mrs Darwin thus fittingly originates in a zoo, with a wife s contemptuous casual
remark written down in a diary entry, mocking the Great Victorian figure but also recalling and
mimicking the attention paid by gender criticism to diaries as a private female space allowing
intimate counter discourse. ( Barring Skills )
Darwin the man is humiliatingly being satirized since he is likened to an ugly face that denies him
any handsomeness. The rhyming words zoo and you stress the animalistic similarity the speaker
wants to inculcate in her husband s and the reader s minds.

Analysis Of A Gentleman s Life
Tristam Shandy, A Gentleman s Life
Tristam Shandy is the narrator of his own life story. The narrative is similar to an autobiographic
account of his life, but the narrative goes farther than that. It examines his philosophy, provides a
glimpse into the standards and ideals of the early 1700s. The work provides an interesting
perspective on the life of a noble man of his time, At times the narration is humorous. Shandy
cannot explain anything simply, but must embellish the tale with long explanations that wander in
and out of the original topic, eventually arriving at the destination. Shandy uses the piece to
rationalize the misfortunes of his life and to try to find meaning in his personal tragedies. This
essay will explore Shandy s explanations of conception, birth, christening, accidental circumcision,
and other circumstances about his own birth. It supports the thesis that Shandy presents his story
because he feels he must rationalize how the philosophy of his father shaped his own opinions. At
the time of Shandy s conception, it was believed that a traumatic experience or energy out of
alignment could affect the mental and physical traits of a child, and that this imbalance would be
present throughout their entire life. When Shandy was conceived, at the very moment of his
conception, his mother asked his father an off topic question that annoyed and distracted his father,
throwing the act out of balance and setting Shandy up for a life of mishaps and maladies. One

Social Status
The Shining Status There are people that are poor, some are rich and those who are just fine.
We all have differences but we are all human and all need to live, although sometimes the
importance of where we stand can come in the way. In the story The Shining Houses we
experience lots of judgment and differences between people that relate to their popularity and
social status. The more the world grows, the more we see the priority of having a high social
status in our societies. Alice Munro describes to us a particular situation that can be related to
our day to day lives. Marx s social hierarchy is brought back, the perspectives of the young vs. the

. Mrs. Fullerton resists these common bourgeoisie values. To her there is no need for change,
her social status in the neighborhood. Mrs. Fullerton is a kind of person that does what she
wants and doesn t listen to what others have to say and does not pay attention to the way things
are done differently at times. These statements are completely opposite for the more young and
rich group of people that take part of those of a high social status. In our society and the society
in the story the perspective shown is that it s what s on the outside that matters most. The looks
and the money are number one and one simple person who does not follow that may be seen
with lots of judgement. Things need to be new and not run down like Mrs. Fullerton s house
and yard. These different perspectives are not only thoughts that go on in people s minds but
they lead to actions that can mess with those of a lower social status. Thirdly, when you live in a
neighborhood like Mrs. Fullerton and see new people moving in and have lived for so long and
deal with the world changing it is not easy. Mrs. Fullerton is always filled with hatred against the
economically well off upper class. Her way of supporting herself, which was through selling eggs
and chickens, is being threatened by the development of low cost stores. Her home is also in
danger, which becomes the central plot line of the story. The suburban families, in

Essay about Inherit the Wind
Inherit the Wind is about a 24 year old teacher named Bertram T. Cates, who is arrested for
teaching Darwin s Theory of Evolution to his junior high class. Some high profile Hillsboro town
s people press charges and have Cates arrested for teaching evolutionism in a stringent Christian
town. A famous lawyer named Henry Drummond defends him; while a fundamentalist politician
Matthew Harrison Brady prosecutes. The story takes place in Hillsboro, which is a small town in
Tennessee. Cates is merely trying to teach to his class that there is more to life than just what the
Bible teaches. He is not trying to be nonreligious; rather he is just teaching his class to think outside
the box. The town s people think that Cates is trying to push... Show more content on

Having the label of colonel applied to his name only increases his perceived appearance of
power and knowledge. The locals feel inferior to Brady s intellectual persona radiating from his
ego. This is identical to cults where the members feel inferior as common folk, compared to the
omnipresent director. Like many cultic leaders, Brady eventually falls victim to realism and
practicality. Brady is no expert on the Bible and that is made abundantly clear during the trial. He
is wise enough to recall major key elements, and has also committed many Biblical passages to
memory. However, he is naГЇve and poorly versed on the literal translation of some controversial
facets of the Bible, which in turn destroy his credibility during cross examination by Drummond
when he takes the stand. Bertram Cates is not a typical criminal. He is quiet and reserved and
doesn t to want to cause trouble or conflict. He is merely standing up for what he believes in and
is doing his best to teach his students that there is more to the world than what the Bible states. He
is viewed as unchristian and toxic by the locals. Both Drummond and Cates experience a struggle
against mainstream society. Cates doesn t try to stand up for himself too much, he actually is quite
dependant on Drummond for support and direction. In the end, Cates is ironically more forgiving
than his Christian counterparts. Cates role in the film is quite small in

There Will be Blood was released in 2007. The director and the screenwriter was by Paul Thomas
Anderson. Some of the tremendous actors in this movie are, Daniel Day Lewis, Paul Dano, and
Dillon Freasier. I would say this movie really set the tone for the American dream, even though
it wasn t really thought of during the movie s time period. It really shows hard work, greed, lust,

Characteristics Of Organized Crime
In the early 20th century, millions of Italians came to the United States as poor immigrants. Many
of these immigrants found their new home in New York City, New York. Thus began the
formation of the renowned New York Mafia. Defining characteristics of the New York Mafia give
insight into the formation, intention, and conservation thereof. A couple of sociological theories
can be used to describe the propagation of one of America s most renowned organized crime
syndicates.
With many organized crime syndicates, it can be difficult to discern one from another. The New
York Mafia has characteristics reflective of organized crime in general, as well as characteristics
that distinguish it from other syndicates. As far as characteristics ... Show more content on

Richard Scott describes this structure as Natural System , where members share a common
interest in the survival of the system but are not necessarily guided by the organization s goals.
The organized crime unit is more than an instrument for attaining defined goals; it is
fundamentally a social group attempting to adapt and survive in a dangerous environment
(Abadinsky 2016:46). Each member of the Mafia, called a Made Guy , is independent in that he
does not receive a salary from the group. Basically, each member is a franchise manager, who
engages in criminal activity with the support and protection of the Mafia.
When the Italians came to the United States in the late 1900 s, the economy was molded by the
likes of the Rockefellers, the Astors, and the Vanderbilts. This economical formation created
limited opportunities for the middle and, especially, the lower classes. The socioeconomic
disadvantage established upon the Italian immigrants leads many to seek success via illegal
means. This criminal behavior was exacerbated by the [reproduction of] the kind of illegal
groups they had belonged to in the old country (Abadinsky 2016:43). The New York Mafia s
formation was likely twofold: illegal behavior was vital to any semblance of financial success for
the Italian immigrants, and the immigrants were replicating the same kind of criminal groups that
they were familiar with back in Italy. The former can be tied to the Strain Theory. There is

The Painting Essay
The Painting
A picture can paint a thousand words. I found the one picture in my mind that does paint a
thousand words and more. It was a couple of weeks ago when I saw this picture in the writing
center; the writing center is part of State College. The beautiful colors caught my eye. I was so
enchanted by the painting, I lost the group I was with. When I heard about the observation essay,
where we have to write about a person or thing in the city that catches your eye. I knew right away
that I wanted to write about the painting. I don t know why, but I felt that the painting was

The grass was spread out through the whole painting. If you looked hard enough you can see
flowers of pink and red growing within the grass. There were spots of yellow in the grass
making the grass look as though it was dying. Then the painting had a patch of grass that had a
very vibrant shade of green, that made the grass look so alive. The grass had a willowy quality
that may have suggested that there may have been a breeze.
The river also suggested a breeze, there were ripples that flowed southeast. There were many
different shades of blue in the lake and river. The lake had a darker shade of light blue surrounded
by a dark blue then lined with black. The lake appeared to have a light shining either on top or
the bottom of it, which allowed you to see the grass growing under it. The river had a lighter
shade of light blue with white lines to show the ripples but it was surrounded with the same colors
as the lake. You did not see any grass growing under the river because there was no light shining on
the river.
When I saw the painting for the first time it grabbed my attention. At first I thought it was the
beautiful colors that attracted me to the painting, but it was more. In the picture the shadowy men
look scared. They looked as though they were trying to run away from something and this lake
that forms into this river that is surrounded by tall grass is the way out, or at least a place to hide
until the coast is clear. During that time in my life I felt

What Are The Advantages Of Safety Culture
Advantages of Developing a Safety Aware Atmosphere within the Place of work
Safety within the place of work is going through change: changing from an optional extra to some
compliance necessity, firms are actually progressively realizing the numerous advantages of
developing, and carrying out to, a powerful safety culture. These vary from elevated staff morale
and elevated productivity, to reduced injuries related costs, competitive insurance rates and
enhanced turnover profits and status.
However, encouraging a culture of safety involves greater than mere lip service. Safety orientated

Any actions, however small, which decision makers or managers decide to try encourage,
promote or support safety within the place of work may have an optimistic knock on impact on
all personnel. (Like a corollary, positive verbal communication may have little impact if it s not
supported by similarly positive actions.) The very best actions which senior staff people may take
are individuals which overtly reward safety oriented behavior in other people. This, above all else,
will be sending a note of the significance of safety towards the organisation.
Altogether, a firm s safety culture is a mix of its values, communications and, most importantly, its
actions.
Working on your Firm s Safety Culture
All firms possess a safety culture however, not every have an optimistic one. Before you do

The recommendation that AirThread Connections value to debt ratio would not be exceeding
50.0% was an important factor so it was logical to use an industry average for value to debt ratio
which is 30.3% given in the Exhibit 7 of the case. The next assumption we made was that our risk
free rate would be equal to the current 30 years which is 3.10 %. Competitors Unlevered Asset Beta
The Cost of Equity is not given so to calculate it, we needed to use the Capital Asset Pricing
Model (CAPM) but we were lacking the average industry beta. Meaning we had to obtain it by
calculating each competitor s unlevered beta and averaging them to obtain the overall beta.
Unlevered Asset Beta | Equity Beta| (Industry Average)| (Used for CAPM)| 0.8| 1.15|
Weighted Average Cost of Capital
Assuming that the AirThread Connection s ratios for the upcoming years will be similar to that of
its competitors we used the industry average.
Debt| Cost of Equity| Debt| Cost of Debt| WACC| Equity| | Value| | | 46.80%| 8.83%| 30.30%|
5.50%| 5.13%|
WACC = [(46.8 x 8.83) + (30.30 x 5.50 x ( 1 .40)) = 5.13%

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Herbal Medicine
Introduction:
Along ago, Plants were used as a source of vegetables and fruits only ,but with time it s leaves,
flowers, seed, stems ,bark roots, rhizomes were found to have extracts that can be used for
treatments as medicines known as herbal medicine or herbalism .
It was found that herbal medicines were majorly used by patients suffering from chronic diseases
like:
пѓ Cancer
пѓ Diabetes
пѓ Asthma
пѓ Chronic renal disease
Advantages over conventional ones:
пѓ They are cheaper.
пѓ Less side effects
Ex: St. John s wort herb which is used for its anti depressant effect has less side effects than most
prescriptive anti depressants.
пѓ One herb can treat more than one condition.

Nail Polish Manicure Research Paper
Opallac Gel Polish Manicure Tutorial I absolutely LOVE having a beautiful manicure, I need my
nails to be perfect ALL THE TIME. If my nails are chipped, not buffed or shaped correctly, I
literally cannot deal. Seriously, I can t function if my manicure is not perfect. Does anyone else
have a chipped nail polish phobia? Regular nail polish takes way to long to dry, and as soon as I
think it is dry I bump a nail and it s ruined. Visiting the nail salon on a fortnightly basis for shellac
is OTT and is over my budget. Thank goodness for my Opallac gel polish manicure kit! I can DIY
my gel manicure from home. It s great because there is no dry time and no chips for up to 14

I like my nails quite short and like to keep the shape rounded with a slightly straighter top. Wash
your hands Buff your nail surface lightly. Make sure they your nails are kept clean from the step
onwards, if needed, wash and buff again. Keeping your nails clean will ensure your polish sticks
to your nail and lasts. Opallac Application I do one hand at a time, this ensures I complete all
steps on one hand before changing to the other, it can get a little tricky so I recommend this for
beginners. Apply a thin layer of Opallac base coat to your nails. I mean THIN babes, if it runs
onto your skin the polish will lift. This applies for all coats. Cure for 90 seconds under the LED

The Geography of Dominican Republic
Explored and claimed by Columbus on his first voyage in 1492, the island of Hispaniola became a
spring board for Spanish conquest of the Caribbean and the American mainland. In 1697, Spain

remainder of the island, by then known as Santo Domingo, sought to gain its own independence in
1821, but it was conquered and ruled by the Haitians for 22 years. It finally attained independence

Essay on Music in the Sixties
Music in the Sixties
My topic is Music in the Sixties. In my essay I would like to determine that events that occurred
during the 1960 s had a significant effect on some of the music that was produced. I believe that
certain music and musical events derived from peoples feelings and views on things that occurred
during the 60 s. Some of these events include the Vietnam War, the Civil Rights Movement
, politics,
and society as a whole. There were many different stereotypes and prejudices. There was war going
on, and there were many people who were trying to focus on peace. My main goal is to show how
these events may have influenced people s music, and also to emphasize how music was used to
unify people despite all of the negativity that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Woodstock was a huge music and art fair that lasted 3 days in the summer of 1969. The site tells
who sponsored Woodstock, what different people s opinions were on the purpose of the festival,
and what occurred over the course of the planning and duration of the concert. The promoters
wanted to link the theme of the concert to the anti war sentiment. Many people who were
involved were stereotyped as drug users or left wing politicians because of their appearances.
These events, although intended to send a message of peace, also caused a great deal of conflict.
In addition to this information we are given the names of the performers who participated in the
concert. This site also has information of other events that took place during the 60 s, such as
The Monterey International Pop Festival, which took place in order to show that pop music

The last time a global survey for homelessness was attempted by the United Nations in 2005, an
estimated 100 million people were homeless worldwide. As many as 1.6 billion people lacked
adequate housing. [1] In the United States, on a single night in January 2015, 564,708 people
were experiencing homelessness meaning they were sleeping outside or in an emergency shelter
or transitional housing program. [2] In 2013, the Slum population in India went up from 52
million to 65 million and it has been predicted to rise to 104 million. [3] Looking at the statistics,
the main cause for homelessness could be contributed to the cost of affordable housing. Another
example that could be considered could be of people living in disaster prone areas where people
lose their houses overnight. In such scenarios, 3D printing could be a viable solution where houses
could be printed in a couple of days as compared to traditional construction methods where people
need to seek out emergency shelters till their houses are built. Also, 3D printing a house gives
Architects ability to design and build structures which are complex

The Legality Of Planned Parenthood
Abortion is a controversial topic in the United States, causing a split debate on the morality of
allowing women to continue aborting babies up until 22 weeks of gestation and the argument that
abortion should not be allowed on any circumstances excluding rape, incest or the health of the
mother. These situations are complex and many women have strong opinions and they use the
terms Prolife or Prochoice to explain their position on the matter. Planned Parenthood is the primary
location where women can carry out the termination of their pregnancy. Abortionis always a
political issue during election time so the legality of Planned Parenthood is constantly being
inspected.
Margaret Sanger started the birth control movement in the early 1910 s and advocated for the
right of contraception during sex. After her founding of Parenthood in 1916, It led to major
modifications in the laws governing birth control and sex education in the United States. Planned
Parenthood originally went by the name Birth Control Clinical Research Bureau but later formed
with the American Birth Control League (ABCL) which eventually evolved itself to become a
center advocating for women s health with a primary focus on providing abortions for women (
History of Planned Parenthood ). Previously, this right was illegal for women, so they were forced
to bear children for their husband, whom had a strong control over the woman. Sanger became
passionate on this subject because she herself was a part of an

Technology And Information Warfare During World War II
Warfare Will Be Determined By Electronic Means In A Few Decades, Either On The Ground Or In
Cyber Space. Since the end of World War II, the instruments of war have been completely upgraded
during the war; from motorization to mechanization. The powerful attack capability of mechanized
troops was fully demonstrated during World War
II. Thus, the degree of mechanization in the army
became an important indicator to measure a country s defense capabilities. This standard has
become a popular standard in the world, in the subsequent several decades. Until 1991, the result of
the first Gulf War once again shocked the world. People first time realized the importance of
battlefield information. The United Statesand its allies with a strong communication capabilities and
reconnaissance capabilities won an overwhelming victory in the war. Information technology and
information warfare thus become the new trend of militarydevelopment. Therefore, information
battlefield will undoubtedly become the mainstream in the next few decades; information
supremacy will be the most important determining factor in the future. This essay will briefly
review the previous researches; it attempts to provide a common definition of information warfare.
Then, it will describe the characteristics of information warfare; the essay will look at the actual

As a society, we often find ourselves entangled up in the midst of what our often clouded minds
perceive to be a chaotic and unforgiving world, but as one can only view the outside world as
they perceive themselves, equally, it can be pondered that the decay of humanity resides within
one s secondary reality (the outside world), to be only a product of the primary reality of which
resides within one s own mind? As what many people commonly perceive as a broken society and
where every fault is placed upon the system and upon one s own neighbors; upon closer inspection,
one truly has to ponder where the root of such brokenness, in reality, truly finds its beginning and

The Sweet Hereafter Film Analysis
The Sweet Hereafter, directed by Atom Egoyan, is a film about the devastation caused by a bus
crash in a small Canadian community that killed many of the town s children. Like many of
Egoyan s works, this film indicates his directorial style by using film techniques that place the
audience in the characters shoes. Egoyan uses nonlinear timelines, motifs and music, along with
his great use of camera work, mise en scene, and voice over, to present the plot in a way that
engages the audience and leaves an impression long after the filmhas finished. A scene in the film
that shows these techniques is the Deposition Hearing Scene. This scene is critical to the rest of
the film because it helps the viewers understand Nicole s character and how she feels towards her
father. By having Nicole lie about the bus crash, Nicole is released from the abusive power of her
father, Sam. In this scene, at first, Nicole seems vulnerable, but as the scene continues, the audience
and character s views of her change.
During the deposition hearing, film techniques help in revealing that Nicole is lying about what
happened during the bus crash. The camera pans slowly to show the interview. This makes the
atmosphere seem tense and as there is also no background noise in this part of the scene, it seems
like a very serious moment of the film. As the scene progresses the smooth panning camera shots
changes to quick, choppy cuts between Nicole, Sam, and Mitchell. This indicates to the audience
that

Living in such a consumer driven economy means that we deal with subliminal and up front

The success of these advertisements must be measured. Marketers often conduct surveys and
questionnaires to pull information about their products from the marketplace. Information gathered
like this for a specific purpose is known as primary research. Marketers can draw a lot of valuable
knowledge from primary research. Such as images and ideas consumers associate with certain
brands, a concept known as brand image. Primary research also evaluates levels consumer
satisfaction. Following a product purchase, the buyer experience either satisfaction with their
decision or cognitive dissonance, when one regrets their recent purchase. This regret often
corresponds with the amount of involvement and thought put into a purchase. As a consumer, you
most likely think less about buying a bag of Cheetos versus buying a new IPod. When it comes to
Cheetos you know what you re getting, not much variation involved. However, an iPod offers
multiple opportunities for customization and upgrades that the consumer must carefully consider
relative to the price they are willing to pay. In this sense, buying Cheetos requires far less consumer
purchase involvement then the purchase of a new iPod. All of these factors contribute to the
overall satisfaction associated with a product. The results of conducted primary research help
marketers decipher elements of their advertising strategy that need tweaking. Essentially, the

Symbolism In A Clean Well-Lighted Place

A Clean, Well Lighted Place The short story A Clean, Well Lighted Place by Ernest Hemingway
is about an old man who is sitting alone at night in a cafГ©. He is deaf and there are two waiters
who are watching him carefully because if he gets too drunk they know he will not pay. While
the old man is having his drink the whole story mainly revolves around the conversation of the
older waiter with the younger waiter. None of the characters are referred by their names they are
known as The Old Man, The Older Waiter, and The Younger Waiter to the readers. The author
conveys the idea of light and darkness symbolized in the characters and the cafГ©.
While in the cafГ© when the waiters were speaking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cafГ© is seen as a place where people with despair and problem can go to and forget about it.
It represents the opposite of nothingness it s clean and good lighted whereas nothingness is
confusing and dark. When the older waiter describes the nothingness that he is getting into, he
says, It was only that and light was all it needed and a certain cleanness and order (383). The
author doesn t really explain what he means by it but we can assume it is referring to life
meaning that life and man are nothing but light, cleanness and order can be counted as
something. If the cafГ© is clean and well lighted hence in the title, despair can be kept away.
Another point the older waiter makes about the cafГ© why it needs these specific elements is
because he needs the cafГ© to be clean and pleasant. You do not want music. Certainly you do
not want music. (382) The most important thing he needed was light in the cafГ©. Light is
very important in the cafГ© because light removes the darkness. It is like when people are scared
of darkness and all they are looking for is light. When the older waiter has locked up and was
walking off he describes the awful nothingness of life nada y pues nada y nada y pues nada

The idea of dreams telling the future is still hard to accept for some, but to others it is completely
undeniable. Recent surveys have shown that dГ©jГ vu is encountered more often than any of the
other so called mystical or paranormal experiences that have been studied (Funkhouser).
Happenings such as these have only been talked about recently not because they haven t been

exist. In a review of precognition in 1997, Barbara Brennan came to the conclusion that it appears
that there are really far more instances of precognition than is commonly realized. So many, in fact,
that the phenomenon may be almost universal. The reason we are largely unaware of this is that
most precognition occurs in dreams (Funkhouser). It is not something that just happens to a select
few, it is something that has occurred within all age groups, races and genders for centuries. There
have been plenty of almost eerie accounts of dreams suggesting the future. One instance

make payments when they make a deal or transaction through the CLS. By safeguarding the
credit of institutions applying to be members of the group the CLS are lowering the percentages
and allowance for risk knowing that at the time of admittance the pursuing member was in good
credit and showed no signs of not being able to pay their transactions. The second risk
management of short position limits helps to ensure that institutions will not run into liquidity
problems. Each member of the group is allowed an identical limit per currency. By creating these
limits the CLS are trying to lower the risk and keep a fair and stable market. If one currency takes a
major dive it will not have such a large effect on a members liquidity as

Satire In George Orwell s Animal Farm
If animals could talk, think, and feel like humans, what would happen? The answer: revolution.
Animal Farm, by George Orwell, is a political satire in which animals exhibit behaviors and ideas
that mimics communist Russia. In Animal Farm, the character Boxer and his experiences relate to
this theme: In society, individuals are not treated equally; this relationship demonstrates flaws in
the practices of the ideals of communism. Boxer never received credit for his efforts. An example
of this can be found from the excerpt, taken from pages 61 62. But it was a slow, laborious
process. Frequently it took a whole day of exhausting effort to drag a single boulder to the top of
the quarry, and sometimes when it was pushed over the edge it failed... Show more content on

He is a valuable hard worker, yet he is still considered the same as everyone else. He doesn t
receive special treatment, unlike the pigs, which shows a certain unfairness in this practice.
Boxer works hard, yet he is treated unfairly. The pigs do next to nothing, yet they receive much
more credit. An example of which can be found on page 93. Napoleon was now never spoken of
simply as Napoleon. He was always referred to in the formal style as our Leader, Comrade
Napoleon, and the pigs like to invent for him such titles as Father of All Animals, Terror of
Mankind, Protector of the Sheep fold, Ducklings Friend, and the like. There is absolutely no truth
to these titles and such, yet Napoleon and the pigs give themselves credit which they do not
deserve. Boxer has clearly demonstrated, time and time again, his efforts. The pigs do nothing but
sit around and plan things, and they are the ones to receive credit and titles and such. This is the
issue with communism: The hardest workers go unfairly noticed and unrewarded.Napoleon is
always receiving awards for things that he never did, yet Boxer has worked harder than anyone,
and he still is treated as poorly as the

Eighteenth Century Religious Change in Uncle Tom s Cabin...
Eighteenth Century Religious Change in Uncle Tom s Cabin and Moby Dick
The central religious themes of Uncle Tom s Cabin and Moby Dick reflect the turbulent and
changing religious climate of their time. In their use of themes from both traditional Calvinism and
modern reform, the syncretic efforts of both of these texts offers a response to the uncertainty and
change of the period. However, their uses of these themes are different; while Stowe used a precise
focus on a Christian polemic against slavery, Melville intentionally de centralized his text in a way
that asks the reader to look beyond the medium of expression to the truth which lays behind it, but
cannot be contained in it.
In this paper, I will investigate the shift in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Neither one of them can be precisely placed in any of the religious categories of the period;
Calvinism (both orthodox and reformed), Unitarianism, Transcendentalism, and liberal
Christocentric humanism all exerted definite influences on both works, but both works similarly
resist direct placement not only because of the syncretic nature of their programs, but the fluidity of
these very traditions. Therefore, while some hesitancy is a necessary hazard of such a
investigation, it nevertheless preserves a respect for the complexity of the religious history involved.
With this much said precautionarily, it is nevertheless possible to place both of these works in the
climate of questioning, re definition, and uncertainty which occurred in the American political and
social scenes as part of this religious shift. The first important factor in this shift was the Second
Great Awakening; while William McLoughlin dates its conclusion at 1830, it had an important
influence on both of these works which were composed between 1850 and 1852. This movement
established a break from the Calvinism of Jonathan Edwards through both in popular form of
revivals and its connection to the more elite movement of Unitarianism, and thus set a precedent for
later religious reform.
The concept of American nationhood was challenged in the early eighteenth century on

Staff Training Research Paper
Personnel Shortages
The need for highly trained intelligence personnel has never been more important. A personnel
shortage at the Intelligence Training Branch has a negative impact on the Coast Guard. The effects
of this shortage are resulting in signs of burn out within the staff, the graduates are not receiving the
highest quality of training, and the instructor billets are becoming harder to fill. From a chief s
perspective staff burn out is a high priority issue. With the exception of the School Chiefs and
Deputy School Chief all instructions for both A and C School come from the same central pool.
IS A School is the only school on site designed this way. We are billeted for six petty officers.
However, we currently only have two. That leaves two chiefs and two petty officers to complete
81 training weeks per year. Some of these trainings are road shows and require two people to
travel. In addition to the regular work schedule, the chief s must be duty IS and OOD qualified. The
petty officers must be duty IS qualified. This is currently putting us in a one and four rotation for

The Portrayal Analysis Of Know Your Rights By The Clash
Know Your Rights by The Clash is a song that criticizes the oppression that poor and working
class people face. This song takes a sarcastic tone and goes over the three basic rights that
everyone has. It becomes very clear that the rights The Clash references are bogus and part of a
rigged system. The Clashreleased Know Your Rights in 1982. The 1980 s, in England where this
band was based, was a time of major social and political revolution. The Clash s music reflected
this, primarily producing music about revolution and the working class. The Clash s defining
elements were their punk rock, passionate, and enthused sound. They are now known as one of
the founding punk rock legends. Know Your Rights sound and message went a long way in terms
of empowering the audience; young adults, poor and working class people, revolutionaries. One of
the most important steps in advocacy is telling a story that will resonate with the desired audience.
Telling a story can be used across all the media realms, providing your audience with content that is
packed with utility, seeded with inspiration, and that is honestly empathetic, is what draws an
audience then, but also incites them to action (Hadley Chapman 9). Know Your Rights tells the
story of how people of traditionally view lesser socioeconomic classes rights are riddled with
injustice and oppressive stipulations. A few months before The Clash released Know Your Rights,

Examples Of Transcendentalism In Walden
In the three texts that I have read they wanted to be isolated from society, yet they had differences
to why. Henry David Thoreau was a Transcendentalist man whom many looked up to. Meanwhile
Emily Dickinson is a person who sadly has a passion for death also known as Dark Romanticism.
Ultimately in Waldenhe demonstrates why he got away from society. He states I went to the woods
because i wished to live deliberately... (Thoreau 12). Emphasizing that he desires to live life in
nature and seeking the beauty of life. While Emily Dickinson would rather live individual than be

that i had not lived (Thoreau 12). Explaining that he did not wish to be on his deathbed,
regretting every moment that he wasted instead of living deliberately and seeking the beauty of
life. Meanwhile Dickinson also got away from negative vibe. For example she states Because i
could not stop for Death /He kindly stopped for me (Dickinson 69). Saying this she is using
personification saying that ...he kindly stopped... death cannot stop that is just how she feels
deep down inside but it does not affect her in a bad way she sees it as a positive adventure. Poe
on the other hand desired to remove himself from society and just worry about himself, because
in society he would get into a lot of trouble. He states I vowed revenge (Poe 59). He is trying to
tell us that he was going to do anything to get back at that person not caring how he feels because
society is something that is not a positive thing. Overall, Thoreau, Dickinson, and Poe rather by

This quote from the book shows how miserable his life was, especially in the workhouse.
Crimson with fury, Oliver started up; overthrew the chair and table; seized Noah by the throat;
shook him, in the violence of his rage, till his teeth chattered in his head; and collecting his whole
force into one heavy blow, felled him to the ground.
This quote describes how Oliver acted with rage when Noah abused his mother.
The remarks in the beginning of chapter 6 are highly ironic as he describes how mourners
present at the funeral of a wealthy elderly relative are able to prevail over their misery, when

the loss of a beloved relative of a poor family to a loved one of a wealthy family. Charles uses this
to give members of a richer family a better understanding of the fast growing gap between the poor
and rich. When Twist departs from the undertaker s place heading towards London, he goes up to

The Paradox Of Change In Ray Bradbury s Dandelion Wine
The Paradox of Change
Change is a force which is ever present in the universe, and an individual is never free from its
effects; change will continuously mold the individual by challenging its perception of its
surroundings and itself. In many ways, change causes development and maturity, yet it also
causes decline and decay. Change is constant. However, the paradox of change is often difficult to
accept, and people will fight with its reality throughout their lifetimes: friends will come and go,
epiphanies and advances will arrive, and things will never quite be like they used to be. The
struggle between change and the individual is a recurring part of Ray Bradbury s Dandelion Wine.
This relationship shows not only through the main character, Doug Spaulding, but also through
those around him. Doug and the rest of Green Town show how people contend with changes in that
which they know, those whom they know, and even themselves.
Many of Doug s favorite parts of Green Town become altered in some way during the summer of
1928. No more trolley. Bus starts to run tomorrow. Going to retire me with a pension, they are
(Bradbury 98). After Mr. Tridden tells them that the trolley is shutting down, Doug protests by
pointing out that a bus doesn t have the charm of the trolley. Later on, a woman thwarts an
attempted murder by the town s serial killer, The Lonely One . As Doug, Tom, and Charlie reflect
upon seeing the paramedics take Lonely One in on a stretcher, they lament the fact that there will
be no more killings to create excitement around town. Charlie rants to Tom, This town used to have
some good stuff in it up until about twelve o clock last night. From here on, we re vanilla junket
(Bradbury 178). They even try to convince themselves that the man on the stretcher wasn t the
Lonely One. Regardless of how unpleasant or cumbersome certain aspects of the town were, the
kids still disliked their altercation, and they struggled with everything beginning and ending around
them.
The people of Green Town repeatedly grappled with very personal changes to those whom they
were familiar with. This contention is very prevalent within Doug when he hears that his friend,
John Huff, is moving away. To delay the

General Positivism And The Interpretive Paradigm
Part 1: Purpose
a)Social Science Research Paradigm
The social science paradigm also known as Post positivism consists of testing hypothesis and
research questions that are developed through reasoning. This is done through measurements and
observation. Social scientists aspire to science and they seek to study human behaviour, interaction
and thought in an organized way; which we can then measure, generalize and replicate. Like any
research, post positivism needs to be backed up by evidence. When a social science research sets
out a research project, it is their goal to find evidence that can either agree or disagree with the
hypothesis or theories. Post positivism, compared to positivism allows more interaction with the
participants of the research project and seeks to highlight the relationship between universal
properties between the variables. The best way to understand post positivism is by comparing it to
positivism and the interpretive paradigm. Compared to positivism, post positivism is more tolerant
for value based information, however is not focused on qualitative information like the interpretive
paradigm, instead the research is mainly focused on quantitative data.

Garage Door Troubleshooting Techniques
Having a stuck garage door can be so infuriating; it almost makes you feel like driving through it.
Several people find themselves in this situation, especially during winter. Instead of getting

Sometimes the manufacturer s safety features may prevent the door from opening. If that doesn t

God Is Necessary For Human Existence
Manu Patil
Mr. Kadar
Honors English III, Period 3
2 November 2015
Since early times, humans have attempted addressing issues such as, our instinct to survive,
curiosity to know beyond themselves, fear of the unknown, pursuit of happiness, etc. Early
Mesopotamian societies attempted to answer questions such as Who are we?, Where are we?, How
did we get here? Many of those questions were driven by their instinct to survive, interaction with
the nature around, fear of the known and unknown threatening their existence and found solace in
God. God is necessary for human existence.
What is God? God is not some mystical being that is only accessible through religion, but rather a
concept essential for existence. According to Merriam Webster dictionary the God is a spirit or
being that has great power, strength, knowledge, etc., and that can affect nature and the lives of
people. Similar concept is echoed in various religions. Christianity, a monotheistic religion,
defines God as the creator and ruler of the universe and source of all moral authority; the
supreme being. whereas, Hinduism, a polytheistic religion, defines God as both the known and
unknown, the being as well as non being, reality as well as unreality and he is one, but also many.
They believe god manifests in innumerable forms and shapes. Yet, moral authority and all these
contradictions can all be found beyond religion in our daily lives. God, therefore, exists beyond
the realms religion as a higher being or power,

The Quest For Effective Leadership
Introduction
In the quest for effective leadership; having a shared vision and practicing strong communication
skills among staff, administrators and faculty are critical components to a successful
organization. Effective leadership begins with a vision, action and buy in from all levels of the
college. Leaders have struggled with what their vision of success is and can be for all involved. A
convincing vision has the power to inspire, clarify and focus on the work of an entire organization.
Often in a rush to get things done, we expect our colleagues to support our efforts without giving
them a good reason why. Effective leadership also means communicating regularly and being a
good listener who shares information with their organization and encourages open dialogue. (Use a

Context and culture
The culture in an organization depends greatly on how successful a leader is capable of becoming
an active person who sees the future in others. Leadership skills should match the values of the
culture which in return should drive the initiatives of the college. For employees to function and
succeed, it is essential they understand and believe in the culture. (Use a citation here) Leaders
need to create a culture that is beneficial to an organization, by hiring potential employees that have
the desired attitudes, behaviors, ethics and shared values of the institution. This process begins at
the top of the organization. Leader/institutional values

The History And Political Causes Of The Cold War
The Cold War refers to an era of U.S. history from roughly 1945 to 1990. Although the U.S.S.R.
and the U.S. fought ideological proxy wars in Vietnam, Korea, and Afghanistan, this era is referred
to as the Cold War because the United States and Soviet Union never actually engaged in war
themselves. The origins of the Cold Warcan be traced back to the finale of World War II. Beginning
with the Yalta Conference, the Allied powers of the Soviet Union, United States, and Great Britain
started a discussion concerning post war foreign policies. Specifically, the political system of
Poland became an important question for the Big Three . Should Poland be allowed to form a
democratically elected government, or should Russia be allowed to occupy Poland and further
expand their communist influence? Essentially, this question and many like it characterized the
motivation for the Cold War. The United States sought to contain communism while the Soviet
Union pushed for both land expansion and political influence across the globe. (CITE) Harry
Truman took the office of President just a few months before the end of World War II. Truman
inherited a plethora of dilemmas heading into the post War World II era, and he decided to take his
stance on international affairs in 1947 with the Truman Doctrine. Essentially, the Truman Doctrine
promised that America would personally intervene in order to insure that democracy would remain
secure in foreign governments. This was a stark contrast from the popular isolationist paradigm of
the 20s and 30s. Furthermore, the Truman Doctrine prompted an unusual act of international
involvement when Congress agreed to aid Greek and Turkish militaries in an effort to counter
communist influence in these regions. Additionally, Truman s handling of the Korean War is
another example of his firm stance of containment. Truman made no qualms about aiding the
indigenous troops of South Korea with weapons and troops, but he did openly reject the notion of
meeting either China or the Soviet Union in an open land battle. Furthermore, Truman fired
General Douglas MacArthur based on the general s strong notion to invade China and reluctance to
respect the President s authority. Truman s decisions

Immanuel Kant begins with discussing the idea that feeling happy or sad does not come from the
nature of external things but more of what a person s ability to let things make them feel pleasure
of pain. He stresses that all people are different. Something that may make someone feel upset can
make another happy. Kant then continues to talk about the feeling of the sublime and beautiful. He
uses examples to display his opinions. First he begins to talk about the sight of mountains along
with raging storms in which beautiful things enjoyment can be seen as well as horror. On the other
hand we can look at grazing flocks and Homers portrayal of the girdle of Venus. Kant sees those
through as a pleasant sensation with joy and smiling. You can see that the difference is that certain
beautiful situations can be seen as horror. Kant says that sublime must always be great. It must be
simple but the beautiful can be adorned and ornamented. From the reading I can conclude that Kant
strived to get his

  • 3. The Importance Of Festivals And Holidays On Pre Colonial... Another area of Nigerian life that is practically unequalled by any other country s is in the way festivals are celebrated (Obi 136). Festivals and holidays have made a perpetual impact on Pre colonial and Post colonial Igbo culture. As time has passed over the years, additional holidays of the Igbo cultureare celebrated and traditional aspects of festival celebration have been modernized. Furthermore, some holidayand festival celebrations have altered based on its secular and religious aspects. During Pre colonial Igbo culture, the foundations of festival and holiday celebration were established with one very special festival called the New Yam Festival being the most important celebrations in Igboland. According to Zaccheus Onumba Dibiaezue Memorial Libraries , the New Yam festival is celebrated between August and October in order of thanking the gods for a good harvest and provides opportunity for a social gathering of tribes (Heritage and Culture). Religion is exceedingly important to the Igbo s and the yam crop also known as the king crop measured wealth in ancient Igbo society which is why the festival is highly significant. Based on the book Things Fall Apartthe most important god which tied to the festival was Ani, the earth goddess and the source of all fertility (Achebe 36). We are astonished as the viewers as we were expecting a conventional fairytale. There is a good use of toilet humour and it is aimed at children or teenagers. We know right from the start that Shrek is a nice character as he has a comical impact on the film. The sort of humour makes it different from normal, conventional fairytales and also the big, ugly ogre would normally be a nasty creature but we know straight away that this is not the case and he proves to be quite the contrary as the story unfolds. At the beginning of the film Shrek tries to threaten the characters that he meets, but Donkey, the mice, the storybook characters and Princess Fiona are not intimidated by him or his appearance. He tries to make them frightened by reminding them that he s a scary, horrible monster. Although Shrek is an ogre he is really nice deep down. When the storybook characters arrive Shrek threatens to throw them all out of his swamp and back where they came from. There is a close up shot of his mouth, this implicates that Shrek is going to eat them or kill them and enhances the threat. Shrek tries to frighten them by threatening them, by shouting at them and the close up shot of his mouth develops the idea that Shrek is trying to be scary. The storybook characters applaud Shrek. She doubts the theory of evolution which says that apes are the origin of human species reducing it into mere likeliness to a chimpanzee: Mrs Darwin thus fittingly originates in a zoo, with a wife s contemptuous casual remark written down in a diary entry, mocking the Great Victorian figure but also recalling and mimicking the attention paid by gender criticism to diaries as a private female space allowing intimate counter discourse. ( Barring Skills ) Darwin the man is humiliatingly being satirized since he is likened to an ugly face that denies him any handsomeness. • 6. Analysis Of A Gentleman s Life Tristam Shandy, A Gentleman s Life Tristam Shandy is the narrator of his own life story. The narrative is similar to an autobiographic account of his life, but the narrative goes farther than that. It examines his philosophy, provides a glimpse into the standards and ideals of the early 1700s. The work provides an interesting perspective on the life of a noble man of his time, At times the narration is humorous. Shandy cannot explain anything simply, but must embellish the tale with long explanations that wander in and out of the original topic, eventually arriving at the destination. Shandy uses the piece to rationalize the misfortunes of his life and to try to find meaning in his personal tragedies. This essay will explore Shandy s explanations of conception, birth, christening, accidental circumcision, and other circumstances about his own birth. It supports the thesis that Shandy presents his story because he feels he must rationalize how the philosophy of his father shaped his own opinions. At the time of Shandy s conception, it was believed that a traumatic experience or energy out of alignment could affect the mental and physical traits of a child, and that this imbalance would be present throughout their entire life. When Shandy was conceived, at the very moment of his conception, his mother asked his father an off topic question that annoyed and distracted his father, throwing the act out of balance and setting Shandy up for a life of mishaps and maladies. We all have differences but we are all human and all need to live, although sometimes the importance of where we stand can come in the way. In the story The Shining Houses we experience lots of judgment and differences between people that relate to their popularity and social status. The more the world grows, the more we see the priority of having a high social status in our societies. Alice Munro describes to us a particular situation that can be related to our day to day lives. Mrs. Fullerton is a kind of person that does what she wants and doesn t listen to what others have to say and does not pay attention to the way things are done differently at times. These statements are completely opposite for the more young and rich group of people that take part of those of a high social status. Some high profile Hillsboro town s people press charges and have Cates arrested for teaching evolutionism in a stringent Christian town. A famous lawyer named Henry Drummond defends him; while a fundamentalist politician Matthew Harrison Brady prosecutes. The story takes place in Hillsboro, which is a small town in Tennessee. Cates is merely trying to teach to his class that there is more to life than just what the Bible teaches. He is not trying to be nonreligious; rather he is just teaching his class to think outside the box. The town s people think that Cates is trying to push... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Having the label of colonel applied to his name only increases his perceived appearance of power and knowledge. The locals feel inferior to Brady s intellectual persona radiating from his ego. This is identical to cults where the members feel inferior as common folk, compared to the omnipresent director. Like many cultic leaders, Brady eventually falls victim to realism and practicality. Brady is no expert on the Bible and that is made abundantly clear during the trial. He is wise enough to recall major key elements, and has also committed many Biblical passages to memory. However, he is naГЇve and poorly versed on the literal translation of some controversial facets of the Bible, which in turn destroy his credibility during cross examination by Drummond when he takes the stand. Bertram Cates is not a typical criminal. He is quiet and reserved and doesn t to want to cause trouble or conflict. He is merely standing up for what he believes in and is doing his best to teach his students that there is more to the world than what the Bible states. He is viewed as unchristian and toxic by the locals. Both Drummond and Cates experience a struggle against mainstream society. Cates doesn t try to stand up for himself too much, he actually is quite dependant on Drummond for support and direction. In the end, Cates is ironically more forgiving than his Christian counterparts. Cates role in the film is quite small in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many of these immigrants found their new home in New York City, New York. Thus began the formation of the renowned New York Mafia. A couple of sociological theories can be used to describe the propagation of one of America s most renowned organized crime syndicates. Richard Scott describes this structure as Natural System , where members share a common interest in the survival of the system but are not necessarily guided by the organization s goals. The organized crime unit is more than an instrument for attaining defined goals; it is fundamentally a social group attempting to adapt and survive in a dangerous environment (Abadinsky 2016:46). Each member of the Mafia, called a Made Guy , is independent in that he does not receive a salary from the group. Basically, each member is a franchise manager, who engages in criminal activity with the support and protection of the Mafia. When the Italians came to the United States in the late 1900 s, the economy was molded by the likes of the Rockefellers, the Astors, and the Vanderbilts. This economical formation created limited opportunities for the middle and, especially, the lower classes. The socioeconomic disadvantage established upon the Italian immigrants leads many to seek success via illegal means. This criminal behavior was exacerbated by the [reproduction of] the kind of illegal groups they had belonged to in the old country (Abadinsky 2016:43). The New York Mafia s formation was likely twofold: illegal behavior was vital to any semblance of financial success for the Italian immigrants, and the immigrants were replicating the same kind of criminal groups that they were familiar with back in Italy. This, above all else, will be sending a note of the significance of safety towards the organisation. Altogether, a firm s safety culture is a mix of its values, communications and, most importantly, its actions. As what many people commonly perceive as a broken society and where every fault is placed upon the system and upon one s own neighbors; upon closer inspection, one truly has to ponder where the root of such brokenness, in reality, truly finds its beginning and what fuels this intensity of which, only adds to such perceivably chaotic events?... • 35. The Sweet Hereafter Film Analysis The Sweet Hereafter, directed by Atom Egoyan, is a film about the devastation caused by a bus crash in a small Canadian community that killed many of the town s children. Like many of Egoyan s works, this film indicates his directorial style by using film techniques that place the audience in the characters shoes. Egoyan uses nonlinear timelines, motifs and music, along with his great use of camera work, mise en scene, and voice over, to present the plot in a way that engages the audience and leaves an impression long after the filmhas finished. A scene in the film that shows these techniques is the Deposition Hearing Scene. This scene is critical to the rest of the film because it helps the viewers understand Nicole s character and how she feels towards her father. By having Nicole lie about the bus crash, Nicole is released from the abusive power of her father, Sam. In this scene, at first, Nicole seems vulnerable, but as the scene continues, the audience and character s views of her change. During the deposition hearing, film techniques help in revealing that Nicole is lying about what happened during the bus crash. The camera pans slowly to show the interview. This makes the atmosphere seem tense and as there is also no background noise in this part of the scene, it seems like a very serious moment of the film. As the scene progresses the smooth panning camera shots changes to quick, choppy cuts between Nicole, Sam, and Mitchell. This indicates to the audience that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Primary research also evaluates levels consumer satisfaction. Following a product purchase, the buyer experience either satisfaction with their decision or cognitive dissonance, when one regrets their recent purchase. This regret often corresponds with the amount of involvement and thought put into a purchase. As a consumer, you most likely think less about buying a bag of Cheetos versus buying a new IPod. When it comes to Cheetos you know what you re getting, not much variation involved. However, an iPod offers multiple opportunities for customization and upgrades that the consumer must carefully consider relative to the price they are willing to pay. To coincide with the best practice procedures the CLS have set up a number of risk management procedures for its members and the procedures to become a member. Every instruction must go through various tests before it is accepted by the CLS. (Swiss National Bank p. 8) This series of test includes that the institutions must have a positive overall account balance of the participant s sub accounts with the CLS, a short position limit in any one currency, and aggregate shore positions. (Swiss National Bank p. 8) The first factor of the test of an overall positive account balance is the most important quota to meet for the CLS. By having a positive balance the institution is showing the CLS that they have outstanding credit and will be able to make payments when they make a deal or transaction through the CLS. By safeguarding the credit of institutions applying to be members of the group the CLS are lowering the percentages and allowance for risk knowing that at the time of admittance the pursuing member was in good credit and showed no signs of not being able to pay their transactions. The second risk management of short position limits helps to ensure that institutions will not run into liquidity problems. Each member of the group is allowed an identical limit per currency. By creating these limits the CLS are trying to lower the risk and keep a fair and stable market. If one currency takes a major dive it will not have such a large effect on a members liquidity as ... However, their uses of these themes are different; while Stowe used a precise focus on a Christian polemic against slavery, Melville intentionally de centralized his text in a way that asks the reader to look beyond the medium of expression to the truth which lays behind it, but cannot be contained in it. Neither one of them can be precisely placed in any of the religious categories of the period; Calvinism (both orthodox and reformed), Unitarianism, Transcendentalism, and liberal Christocentric humanism all exerted definite influences on both works, but both works similarly resist direct placement not only because of the syncretic nature of their programs, but the fluidity of these very traditions. Therefore, while some hesitancy is a necessary hazard of such a investigation, it nevertheless preserves a respect for the complexity of the religious history involved. With this much said precautionarily, it is nevertheless possible to place both of these works in the climate of questioning, re definition, and uncertainty which occurred in the American political and social scenes as part of this religious shift. The first important factor in this shift was the Second Great Awakening; while William McLoughlin dates its conclusion at 1830, it had an important influence on both of these works which were composed between 1850 and 1852. The Paradox Of Change In Ray Bradbury s Dandelion Wine The Paradox of Change Change is a force which is ever present in the universe, and an individual is never free from its effects; change will continuously mold the individual by challenging its perception of its surroundings and itself. In many ways, change causes development and maturity, yet it also causes decline and decay. Change is constant. However, the paradox of change is often difficult to accept, and people will fight with its reality throughout their lifetimes: friends will come and go, epiphanies and advances will arrive, and things will never quite be like they used to be. The struggle between change and the individual is a recurring part of Ray Bradbury s Dandelion Wine. This relationship shows not only through the main character, Doug Spaulding, but also through those around him. Doug and the rest of Green Town show how people contend with changes in that which they know, those whom they know, and even themselves. Many of Doug s favorite parts of Green Town become altered in some way during the summer of 1928. No more trolley. Bus starts to run tomorrow. General Positivism And The Interpretive Paradigm Part 1: Purpose a)Social Science Research Paradigm The social science paradigm also known as Post positivism consists of testing hypothesis and research questions that are developed through reasoning. This is done through measurements and observation. Social scientists aspire to science and they seek to study human behaviour, interaction and thought in an organized way; which we can then measure, generalize and replicate. Like any research, post positivism needs to be backed up by evidence. When a social science research sets out a research project, it is their goal to find evidence that can either agree or disagree with the hypothesis or theories. Post positivism, compared to positivism allows more interaction with the participants of the research project and seeks to highlight the relationship between universal properties between the variables. The best way to understand post positivism is by comparing it to positivism and the interpretive paradigm. • 51. God Is Necessary For Human Existence Manu Patil Mr. Kadar Honors English III, Period 3 2 November 2015 Since early times, humans have attempted addressing issues such as, our instinct to survive, curiosity to know beyond themselves, fear of the unknown, pursuit of happiness, etc. Early Mesopotamian societies attempted to answer questions such as Who are we?, Where are we?, How did we get here? Many of those questions were driven by their instinct to survive, interaction with the nature around, fear of the known and unknown threatening their existence and found solace in God. God is necessary for human existence. What is God? God is not some mystical being that is only accessible through religion, but rather a concept essential for existence. According to Merriam Webster dictionary the God is a spirit or being that has great power, strength, knowledge, etc., and that can affect nature and the lives of people. Similar concept is echoed in various religions. Christianity, a monotheistic religion, defines God as the creator and ruler of the universe and source of all moral authority; the supreme being. whereas, Hinduism, a polytheistic religion, defines God as both the known and unknown, the being as well as non being, reality as well as unreality and he is one, but also many. • 53. The History And Political Causes Of The Cold War The Cold War refers to an era of U.S. history from roughly 1945 to 1990. Although the U.S.S.R. and the U.S. fought ideological proxy wars in Vietnam, Korea, and Afghanistan, this era is referred to as the Cold War because the United States and Soviet Union never actually engaged in war themselves. The origins of the Cold Warcan be traced back to the finale of World War II. Beginning with the Yalta Conference, the Allied powers of the Soviet Union, United States, and Great Britain started a discussion concerning post war foreign policies. Specifically, the political system of Poland became an important question for the Big Three . Should Poland be allowed to form a democratically elected government, or should Russia be allowed to occupy Poland and further expand their communist influence? Essentially, this question and many like it characterized the motivation for the Cold War. The United States sought to contain communism while the Soviet Union pushed for both land expansion and political influence across the globe. (CITE) Harry Truman took the office of President just a few months before the end of World War II. Truman inherited a plethora of dilemmas heading into the post War World II era, and he decided to take his stance on international affairs in 1947 with the Truman Doctrine. Essentially, the Truman Doctrine promised that America would personally intervene in order to insure that democracy would remain secure in foreign governments. This was a stark contrast from the popular isolationist paradigm of the 20s and 30s. Furthermore, the Truman Doctrine prompted an unusual act of international involvement when Congress agreed to aid Greek and Turkish militaries in an effort to counter communist influence in these regions. Additionally, Truman s handling of the Korean War is another example of his firm stance of containment. Truman made no qualms about aiding the indigenous troops of South Korea with weapons and troops, but he did openly reject the notion of meeting either China or the Soviet Union in an open land battle. Furthermore, Truman fired General Douglas MacArthur based on the general s strong notion to invade China and reluctance to respect the President s authority. Truman s decisions ... You see no ideas are necessarily right or wrong ultimately like in life people do not always agree In Observations on the Feeling of the Beautiful and Sublime section one by Immanuel Kant. Immanuel Kant begins with discussing the idea that feeling happy or sad does not come from the nature of external things but more of what a person s ability to let things make them feel pleasure of pain. He stresses that all people are different. Something that may make someone feel upset can make another happy. Kant then continues to talk about the feeling of the sublime and beautiful. He uses examples to display his opinions. First he begins to talk about the sight of mountains along with raging storms in which beautiful things enjoyment can be seen as well as horror. On the other hand we can look at grazing flocks and Homers portrayal of the girdle of Venus. Kant sees those through as a pleasant sensation with joy and smiling. You can see that the difference is that certain beautiful situations can be seen as horror. Kant says that sublime must always be great. It must be simple but the beautiful can be adorned and ornamented. From the reading I can conclude that Kant strived to get his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
