LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like
Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems

Changes in vegetation cover refer to variations in the distribution, composition, and overall
structure of plant communities across different temporal and spatial scales. These changes can
occur natural.

Jhon Fanque
Date performed January 18, 2015
Introduction/ Abstract:
Simple harmonic motion is the study of oscillation. An object undergoes oscillation when it
experiences a restoring force which restores this object to equilibrium positon. The Simple
harmonic oscillation occurs when the net force on an object along the direction of motion is
proportional to the object s displacement and in the opposite direction by this equation F = kx. In
addition, an object whose position time graph makes a sine or cosine function is in simple
harmonic motion. This type of relation is called Hooke s law. The purpose of this experiment is to
prove Hooke s law and study Simple harmonic motion and to show that this equation T = 2 is valid
during Simple harmonic motion.
Theory:
The relevant theoretical concepts and equations used in this experiment are:

Myth 1: Wheelchairs Summary: According to the article 6 Stereotypes of Disability from Disabled
We Stand, one of the misconceptions was, if you re in a wheelchair, that can mean either that you
re deaf, dumb and stupid, or that you re a goddess on wheels. People approach you when they
usually wouldn t approach anyone else. Furthermore, others are drawn to people in wheelchairs
because they automatically feel pity and interest in the difference in lifestyles. Rather than letting a
wheelchairdefine someone s character, personality, or life, perhaps getting to know the individual
would be a more accurate representation of who they are as a person. Example(s) Dispelling or

The fact that she was able to create easily accessible clothing for individuals with disabilities was
astounding and I was, frankly, blown away by her accomplishments. She was able to travel to
New York City to participate in fashion shows and had a little bit of difficulty when operating the
ramps, but as she said, she figured it out. She relied on an interpreter to explain to us what she was
saying, but as the interpreter said, she learned how to understand Delaina by repetition, as Delaina
would make certain shapes with her mouth when she would talk and the interpreter figured out how
to understand her over time. Delaina is the perfect example of an individual with a disability who
does not need help. She comes up with her own sketches, operates her own wheelchair, and can
type into her computer to let us know what she is thinking. Her brilliance was apparent when she
talked about how dedicated she was to her sketches and how she was honored to attend the
University of Florida. Instead of seeing Delaina as an individual who needs help opening the
door, or crossing the street, I saw her as a peer with much more amazing capabilities than myself.
She put into perspective fact that people who have disabilities are perfectly capable of managing

5. Ans Nervous System Essay
The Structure function of the
Autonomic Nervous System
Introduction:
The organs of our body are controlled by many systems in order to function correctly and
efficiently in order to survive within the environment we live in. These include the heart, stomach
and intestines and other vital organs and body systems. All of the systems in our body are
regulated by a part of the nervous system called the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The ANS is
part of the peripheral nervous system and it controls many organs and muscles within the body.
Rather bizarrely we are unable to determine or feel its presence in our bodies as it is working
involuntary, as a reflexive manner. A common example of this involuntary action is best understood
when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The preganglionic fibre from the medulla or spinal cord projects to ganglia very close to the target
organ and makes a synapse. This synapse uses the neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. From this
ganglion, the postganglionic neuron projects to the target organ and uses acetylcholine again at its
terminal.
Figure. 1: Autonomic nervous system
Para sympathetic and sympathetic differences:
The sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system generally have opposing effects on organs
they supply, and this enables the body to make rapid and precise adjustments of involuntary
activities in order to maintain a steady state. An example is an increase in heart rate due to the
release of noradrenalin by sympathetic neurones, this is then compensated for by, the release of
acetylcholine by parasympathetic neurones. This prevents heart rate from increasing beyond its
working capabilities and allows it to reduce and settle back to its resting state.
The effects of sympathetic and parasympathetic stimulation are tabulated below in figure. 2. Notice
that the effects are generally in opposition to each other, in relation to each organ affected by a
particular reflex.

6. My Experience At Uztea And British Council s Project
Working abroad was yet another eye opening and challenging experience which shaped me both as
a teacher and a person overall.
For example, I had to adapt myself to more effective ways to get my message across when
interacting with teachers and students since almost all of them were from different countries and
they had absolutely different motivation to work and study. Life abroad was different from life I
got use to in Uzbekistan.
However, thanks to my previous work experience at UzTEA and British Council s project I
managed to rule out many situations with positive outcomes. Furthermore, the language center was
small and I was in an excellent time period where I had to work with the language center owner and
the director shoulder to shoulder and built the future of the language center almost from the scratch.
Under their guidance I lived through many difficult days and learned how to cope with emotional
and physical fatigue while at the same time improving my English, enriching my worldview and
learning new skills that helped me a lot when I joined Westminster International University in
Tashkent (WIUT), Uzbekistan.
Living far away from my motherland I had grown up to be more patriotic towards my country and
my people. I missed my family and country a lot. Thus I returned to Uzbekistan and started teaching
English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and general English at Westminster International University

The passage explains the thought process throughout an interrogation of the person that is
suspected of in the situation; then it goes on to explain the entire act of interrogation as a whole
with the interrogator and suspect. Throughout the passage the author uses multiple extended
metaphors to express the thought process of suspect in an interrogationroom. In the passage it
states, More to the point, they like to imagine their suspects imagining a small, open window at the
top of the long wall. The open window is the escape hatch, the Out. The author uses the window to
symbolize a suspect trying to find an escape route that tends to be filled with lies to get out of any
type of punishment of the crime. This is directed to those that lack knowledge on the subject of
things in relation to interrogations; although, the audience can be generally anyone because the
passage is made to widely understood by most people.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In reality, both the interrogator and the suspect are looking for illogical answers because the
suspect is only focusing on looking for his own personal escape rather than taking in the situation
in as a whole which is selfish and irrational because if the suspect put even a small amount of
thought into maybe trying to help the situation it could possibly be easier for both sides, but since
it is basically engraved into everyone s mind to think for themselves it always takes much more

8. A Study On Preparing Titanium Metal Matrix Composites With...
I. INTRODUCTION Many engineering applications in the field of aerospace engineering,
automobiles, electronic equipment etc. require very light material with good mechanical
properties. Titanium based metal matrix composites with carbon nanotube reinforcement can be
a solution for such applications. It can satisfy the requirement of light weight with very good
strength. This study focuses on preparing titanium metal matrix composites with CNT
reinforcements for various compositions for its mechanical properties. Ti alloys have been
widely used as structural materials in aeronautical industries due to their attractive
comprehensive properties, such as low density, high strength, ductility, toughness and resistance
to fatigue. Observations on the MA behaviour of CNT Ti powder mixtures in this study showed
that addition of CNTs alters the grinding behaviour of Ti powders, which typically agglomerates
in ball milling, and that the MA process itself is also affected by the type of CNTs incorporated.
While all types of the CNTs, namely SWCNTs, DWCNTs, and MWCNTs, functioned as grinding
aid preventing agglomeration of Ti particles, only the MWCNTs seem to have uniformly
embedded into the Ti particles whereas SWCNTs and DWCNTs were supposedly not dispersed
fully within the matrix. These variations in MA behavior, dependent on the types of CNTs, are
ascribed to the morphological characteristics of each CNT type such as overall shape, number of
carbon walls, and diameter, and specific

9. Irish Fiddle Essay
I very much enjoyed Irish Folk Celtic Fiddle. The song is upbeat and exciting. When it first
began, I immediately thought of Irish step dancing and the tapping of shoes on the floor. It
easily makes one want to get up and dance. The reason it is perfect for dancing is because of the
enthusiastic rhythm and speed. It is played at a very fast tempo. When a tempo is quick, there is
more energy and it is thrilling compared to a slow song that is relaxing and meaningful. The
majority of the notes are very quick while a few are a bit longer. One part that interested me the
most was at 0:43 in the video and it caught my attention because the sound was unique. Just from
hearing it, I can imagine how difficult it must be to move a bow that quickly

10. Statistics in Research
Definition of statistics:
Statistics is the science of learning from data, and of measuring, controlling, and communicating
uncertainty; and it thereby provides the navigation essential for controlling the course of scientific
and societal advances (Davidian, M. and Louis, T. A., 10.1126/science.1218685).
Statisticians apply statistical thinking and methods to a wide variety of scientific, social, and
business endeavors in such areas as astronomy, biology, education, economics, engineering,
genetics, marketing, medicine, psychology, public health, sports, among many. Many economic,
social, political, and military decisions cannot be made without statistical techniques, such as the

Statisticians recommend that experiments compare (at least) one new treatment with a standard
treatment or control, to allow an unbiased estimate of the difference in treatment effects. 2. Design
of experiments, using blocking to reduce the influence of confounding variables, and randomized
assignment of treatments to subjects to allow unbiased estimates of treatment effects and
experimental error. At this stage, the experimenters and statisticians write the experimental protocol
that shall guide the performance of the experiment and that specifies the primary analysis of the
experimental data. 3. Performing the experiment following the experimental protocol and analyzing
the data following the experimental protocol. 4. Further examining the data set in secondary
analyses, to suggest new hypotheses for future study. 5. Documenting and presenting the results of
the study. In contrast, an observational study does not involve experimental manipulation. This
type of study typically uses a survey to collect observations about the area of interest and then
performs statistical analysis.
Statistics is applied in the following ways in research: 1. In science
A very important component of the Scientific Method is the statistical analysis of your collected
data or observations. How you analyze the data, whether done correctly or incorrectly, will
ultimately determine the conclusions from your research.

11. The Roaring 20 s
The 1920 s better known as the Roaring 20 s were a tumultuous time in which new ideas and
inventions were being spread, while the gap between the older and younger generation continued
to grow, and new types of music and lifestyles were embraced. Ideas such as Darwin s theory
were becoming more well known and considered while inventions such as the washing machine
became more widely spread and continue to this day to make chores easier. Women were done
with putting up with society s expectations and began doing things that traditionally only men did.

During those years the Klu Klux Klan was on the rise and gained a large number of followers
and committed several lynchings, mainly of people of colour, though they also targeted Jews.
A poster advertising for the Klu Klux Klan states, Stands for.. White supremacy.. Separation of
church and state, Bible in every classroom.. implying both racism and hypocrisy as they want the
church and state to be separate but also want a bible in every classroom. These posters were
prominent in the 1920 s as well as rampant discrimination of people of colour. Even people hailed
as heroes, like Susan B. Anthony who helped women get the right to vote, actively argued
against people of colour gaining the right to vote. People of colour were denied jobs, homes,
basic rights that every white citizen had. Poet Langston Hughes deftly and sadly illustrates this
point in his poem I, Too, Sing America, stating, I am the darker brother. They send me to eat in
the kitchen when company comes. Showing that people of colour were treated as second class
citizens due to the deep seated prejudices of white people. Through all of it immigrants and those
deemed foreigners were blamed for the rising of crime and various other things they most likely
had nothing to do with them, it was simply based on the fact that they were from another country.

13. Creation, Rebellion, And Fall
The Bible contains sixty six books, written by approximately forty authors, over the course of
two thousand years. God created and loves humans despite their rebellious attitude towards Him,
and God wants to reunite humans to Himself (Poythress, 2008). The Bible is a record of the
sinful rebellion of humans and it still declares God s love for humanity through the sacrifice of
His Son, Jesus Christ. This foundation prepares the way for Jesus Christ to fulfill God s entire
promised covenants. Creation, Rebellion, and Fall (4004 2234 BC) In six days God created the
universe, the earth, and every living thing on it. This includes human beings, who were made in
Gods own image. God created Adam and Eve to have an unobstructed relationship with him, He
placed them in a paradise called the Garden of Eden and gave them freedom to live in friendship
and trust with him. God saw that everything he created was good and He rested on the seventh
day (Genesis 2:2). God left Adam and Eve in the garden with specific instructions: they are NOT
to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. However, they rebel and sin enters the world
after a serpent tricks Eve into questioning God s love and motives. In her gullible innocence, she
ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 3). Eve shared the fruit with Adam and
they spiritually and physically die. This was catastrophic to Gods Order and led to the
condemnation of all human beings (Roman 5:18). Immediately, they

16. Persuasive Essay About Vegas Hockey
Las Vegas is spending tons of money to build an arena. The plan is for the venue to host

is a complete joke. Vegas is and always will be sin city. Local fans won t support hockey and the
team will struggle. Here are three more reasons why you shouldn t care; about Vegas hockey. 3.The
ownership cares more about real estate and entertainment. The maloofs and *name of owner* can

Due to the close relationship between the absorption of triglycerides and fat soluble vitamins,
disorders of fat absorption are invariably always associated with a disorder of the absorption of
fat soluble vitamins. Esters of fat soluble vitamins, dissolved in nutritional fat, are hydrolyzed in
the intestinal lumen by pancreatic carboxylic ester hydrolases (Ballard et al., 2007, Reboul and
Borel, 2011). The underlying mechanisms of water soluble vitamins being absorbed are more
complex and less uniform than those of the fat soluble vitamins. Some water soluble vitamins, such

The glucomannan konjac mannan has a lowering effect on vitamin E absorption in healthy
volunteers and in diabetic patients (Jenkins et al., 20001). This could be demonstrated with the
vitamin E tolerance test when the glucomannan was added to the test meal. It is uncertain whether
there are relations between vitamin K metabolism and ingestion of dietary fiber. Investigations on
the influence of dietary fiber on vitamin K absorption and serum vitamin K concentration are not
available. The prothrombin and thromboplastin times of diabetics who were treated with a high
fiber diet (25 to 35 g dietary fiber per 1000 kcal) for an average of 21 months remained
unchanged. This indicates that the high fiber diet does not impair vitamin K absorption (Alonso
Sande et al., 2009, Scholfield et al., 1990). The underlying mechanisms of water soluble vitamins
being absorbed are more complex and less uniform than those of the fat soluble vitamins. Some
water soluble vitamins, such as folic acid, must be transformed in the intestinal lumen prior to
absorption. The influence of high and low fiber diets on urinary riboflavin excretion was
examined in healthy subjects. Compared to a control group receiving a low fiber diet, coarse and
fine bran, cellulose, and cabbage increased urinary excretion for 8 h when 15 mg riboflavin 5
phosphate were administered orally with breakfast. The authors concluded that dietary fiber

18. Pros And Cons Of Gambling Addiction
Gambling addiction can be a serious a problem, for some more than others. Some have the self
control to know when enough is enough, and then some don t. After reading the article it is safe
to say that Mr. Watanabe had some serious issues. Not only did he have a serious gambling
problem, he also had a drinking and drug problem. These two together is not a good combination.
This was not your normal gamblingissue, this was the biggest loss in Vegas history of 127 million
dollars! Seeing this from an outsider s perspective, there are two different ways you can look at
the situation. You can either feel sorry for him and feel that he was treated wrongly and unlawfully,
or one can feel no remorse for him and that he brought it all upon himself. After much thought, I
have a firm stance that what was going on in those casinos was one, illegal and two, outright just
wrong. Mr. Watanabe was absolutely taken advantage of.
As a young boy Mr. Watanabe had a wealthy family was a very successful business man and was a
chief executor of his father s business by the age of 20. After years of owning this business he sold
it for millions and decided he wanted to have fun for a while and be stress free. Gambling is fun,
right? He began gambling at a Harrah s casino in Iowa back in 2003. He was one of the casinos
biggest gamblers at the casino and everyone knew him very well there. He had also traveled to
Vegas to gamble and that s where his serious gambling, drug and alcohol abuse began.

1. a. Soil is one abiotic variable that would explain why the millipedes are found more frequently
under logs. The soil could contain essential nutrients to the millipedes. Another abiotic factor
could be the darkness provided under the logs. Millipedes can take shelter under the logs and
avoid light. Predation is a biotic factor that also explains why millipedes are plentiful under logs.
The logs millipedes hide under provide a place for millipedes to take cover from possible
predators. b. Millipedes take shelter under logs to escape light and heat. In order to prove this
we need to conduct an experiment. Place two different groups of millipedes each into their own
container. Put some soil and a log into each container. Take the first container and place a bright
heat lamp over the millipedes. Leave the second container alone. Record how many millipedes
are under the log for each group. If the hypothesis is true and millipedes take shelter to avoid light

Introduction
The way the young, old, and infants look at things has been the subject of a number of studies for
many years. These tendencies are referred to as visual preferences and in infants this study can be
referred to as early visual perception. Though interest in the study of visual preferences has
declined, significant progress has been made in this field. This study however has been very
instrumental in helping scholars understand early childhood development issues. Among these
issues is how visual preferences can help infants process the stimuli they come across. The issue of
whether or not infants possess visual preference abilities after birth has also shown great interest
among scholars. This paper seeks to cut through the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Adults have the ability to focus on objects from a range of distances. This is mainly because the
adults lens and its curvature can accommodate this. Previously it was thought that babies were very
shortsighted only being able to see clearly, objects within nine inches. Present research conducted
has however refuted this. Since they have partially developed retinas, infants normally experience
difficulties when encoding images. After an image is formed in the retina, the process is transferred
into the higher neutrons of the brain (Ratliff, 1965, p. 34). In infants, this might be hampered by the
brain s inability to process these functions. When this process occurs in infants, the images formed
always have less resolution because the visual cortex is still not well formed.
Visual system is one of the sensory organs contributing to the functionality of humans. Its
functionality at birth however is the least mature of all the sensory organs. When being born,
infants abilities to make sounds are more developed than their visual abilities. At this point, infants
can only be able to see clearly, objects within a very close range. They also cannot adjust their focus.
Relevance
Most of the research conducted on the subject of visual preference has led to better understanding
of infants as well as their abilities. Through behavioral studies, one can be able to understand how
infants are able to understand and interpret

The language used by the police when interviewing witnesses and barristers during a trial may
influence answers given by witnesses, this language may affect initial perception and subsequent

My experiment into this field showed the leading question with the `verb` contained the information
about what the answer should be, thus language can have a distorting effect on EWT, which can
lead to inaccurate accounts of the witnessed account. This was most certainly true in the study

There are times when you wonder if your love ones have been robbed of their personality identities.
They are no longer acting like they used to, is things everyone around you are saying. Scientists
Nina Strohminger and Shaun Nichols also wondered how does personality identity in individuals
with Neurodegenerative diseases affect the change in their personality identity. The underlying
question is what is the impact of someone with these diseases and their relationships with others.
Are you affected when your love one s identity change?
Psychologists Strohminger and Nichols took a few more steps farther to finding out the answers to

In viewing 12 Angry Men, we see face to face exactly what man really is capable of being. We

He summed up human nature as existence precedes essence . In his book, Existentialism and
Human Emotions, he explained what he meant by this. It means that, first of all, man exists, turns
up, appears on the scene, and, only afterwards, defines himself. If man, as the existentialist
conceives him, is indefinable, it is because at first he is nothing. Only afterward will be
something, and he himself will have made what he will be 4 . After watching 12 Angry Men, the
prominent view on human nature that is best portrayed in the movie is that people are free to be
whatever they want because as Sartre said, people create themselves every moment of everyday
according to the choices they make 5 .
Firstly, perhaps the most egoistic man seen in the film would be Juror 3. He is characterized in

The study draws economic analogies for Heisenberg s Uncertainty principle and concentrates on the
17 largest Investment Banks and the 10 largest Mutual Funds. It tries to quantify the uncertainty
and lists the economic mass of every institution from among the two groups and the average
economic masses of each group as well. The study was restricted to publically listed Investment
Banks and Mutual Funds and the model was not applicable to privately held and boutique banks
and also wasn t applicable to hedge funds and other private funds which did not report their Net
Asset Value Returns. According to the findings, the economic mass was highest for Goldman Sachs
while Toronto Domino Bank shows the least economic mass. When it comes to Mutual Funds,
Pimco the world s largest mutual fund had the lowest economic mass; the exposure to the crisis
could be the reason behind this. The American Funds Growth Fund of America has the highest
economic mass. This study has been able to show that the Heisenberg s Uncertainty Principle has
implications for financial institutions. For future research, one could look into applying the model
for privately held Financial Institutions and those funds which do not report their returns like Hedge
Funds.

The natural disasters such as landslide, earthquake, volcano eruption, wildfire, tsunami are disasters
that happens in earth s system which is hydrosphere, atmosphere, lithosphere and biosphere (Van
Wesper, C.J., 2000). As Malaysia lies outside the Pacific Ring of Fire it is excluded from volcano
eruption and earthquakes. The most dominant disaster in Malaysia is the landslide occurs during
rainy seasons.
This disaster can disrupt the stable ecological system and cause destruction of properties and also
kill lives. This growing economic impact has drawn worldwide attention to study about the
landslide. Nowadays the developments are taking place in high altitude areas at a fast pace. As it

35. Why Canada Is A Social Policy Perspective
1. Canada is known to be one of the most developed countries in the world, with a wide range of
social programs that contribute to a high standard of living. As with many mixed economies,
Canada could be described as a welfare society , meaning that the government plays a major role
in ensuring the well being of its citizens. This comes in the form of free healthcare, access to
education, employment insurance and various other social programs. Despite Canada s record of
being a fiscally balanced and responsible nation, there are still several pressing issues facing the
economy and country as a whole, specifically from a social policy perspective. Four key issues
include:

As a senior policy analyst, I would purpose that the Government of Canada take steps to educate
citizens about the importance of individual household fiscal responsibility, and having a personal
retirement fund. I would also suggest creating an incentive that gives major employers a tax break,
in exchange for providing their employees with private sector retirement and pension plans.
II. Low income Assistance
The Canadian Welfare system provides financial support to citizens in need and attempts to ensure
that individuals and families are not at risk of living in poverty.
While this policy works in theory, there are many flaws to the system, which hurt the average
citizen, as opposed to protecting them. For example, it is nearly impossible for someone to apply
for low income assistance, if they have any type of savings in the bank.
In essence, this means for an individual in need, they must first drain their entire savings, retirement
and education accounts, before becoming eligible for provincial benefits. This makes it incredibly
difficult for someone to escape the welfare system and cycle of poverty, essentially forcing them to
become destitute. (Mosebraalen, 2010)
The guidelines surrounding a Welfare recipient s right to work also complicate the process.
Working part time or even temporary jobs will disqualify an individual from receiving benefits.
Often times, this will discourage people from even trying to find employment.

37. The High Renaissance In Italy
Beginning in Italy, the Renaissance was a time in history that rediscovered the culture of very old
Greece and Rome. It was also a time of recovery from the fourteenth century. In comparison with
the Renaissance had a more and believing that people should be themselves without trying to be
like others, but might best been seen as related to things slowly changing for the better over time in
its city based and commercial constant quality from the High Middle Ages. In the North Sea, the
Hanseatic League competed with people who sell things from the Mediterranean, where the
Venetians had a commercial empire. In Florence, the money made from the woolen industry were
invested in banking. The rich and powerful group of people remained the ruling... Show more

The printing press was perfected, multiplying the availability of books. In art, the aim was to
pretend to be nature by the use of realistic perspective. Masaccio , Donatello and Michelangelo
made Florence a locus of the arts. The High Renaissance of Michelangelo, Leonardo DA Vinci
and Raphael combined natural interest in what s lifelike and real with no sex expecting that
everything will work out perfectly. The worker might become a great artist, and so change his
social and money based status. In France, Louis XI, the Spider, established a central government.
England s Henry VII limited the private armies of the aristocracy, raised taxes, and left a more

38. Feminism and Insanity in Virginia Woolf s Work Essay...
Feminism and Insanity in Virginia Woolf s Work
The critical discussion revolving around the presence of mystical elements in Virginia Woolf s
work is sparse. Yet it seems to revolve rather neatly around two poles. The first being a
preoccupation with the notion of madness and insanity in Woolf s work and the second focuses on
the political ramifications of mystical encounters. More specifically, Woolf s mysticism reflects on
her feminist ideals and notions.
Even though she ultimately associates Woolf s brand of mysticism with the 19th century
Theosophists, she continually refers to the specific encounters in Woolf s work as natural
mysticism (Kane 329). I contend that this brand of natural mysticism can be separated from ... Show

She chooses to focus on the notion of maternity both as a mystical concept ( the cosmological
woman as sun ) and as a feminist revision of literature. She also seems caught up in the concerns
over Woolf s sexuality and how that related to her as a maternal figure. Woolf s frigidity
stigmatized her; made her appear to be too fragile for maternity (Moore 21). Her use of the term
frigidity here she goes on to explain as Woolf s sexual preference for women...the problem which is
still called frigidity (21). Moore certainly sees two distinct aspects in Woolf s mystical encounters
that are both linked through this notion of maternity. She sees her as dealing in interpretations of
the relationship between sexual repression and political repression (3).
Moving forward, we find Makiko Minow Pinkney s Freudian reading of Woolf s mysticism.
Much like Moore, he reads the mystical elements as outgrowths of sexual repression however he
chooses to focus on the Oedipal nature of Woolf s conflict. The bond of faith ensured by the
imaginary father is unstable, and such a weakened paternal function...makes Woolf a mystic
(Minow Pinkney 95). He quotes The Waves How then does light return to the world after the
eclipse of the sun? Miraculously, frailly as the paternal emergence (95). However, linking back to
Moore s work, if we see the sun in The Waves

39. Analysis Of Paper Towns
Mystery: A Problem to Solve and A Reality to Experience
Margo always loved mysteries. And in everything that came afterward, I could never stop thinking
that maybe she loved mysteries so much that she became one . (Green 8). Paper Towns by John
Green is a brilliantly crafted, funny and coming of age journey about true friendship and true love ,
(Penguin Group). It has won the Edgar Award and can be found in New York Times, Publishers
Weekly and USA Today as a bestseller. Paper Towns is characterized as a mystery novel because
it focuses on an investigator, its mood varies frequently, and it has a very relentless pace. One of
the main characteristics of a mystery novel is that the story focuses on a main investigator ,
(Saricks 198). In the prologue, Quentin Jacobsen, the main character is introduced. The story is
written from a first person point of view. My miracle was this: out of all the houses in all the
subdivisions in all of Florida, I ended up living next door to Margo Roth Spiegelmen , (Green 3).
Quentin s neighbour, Margo is very popular and Quentin is uncontrollably in love with her. In the
prologue, Quentin tells the reader about the time when Margo and Quentin were nine and
discovered a dead, bloodied man in the park. As I took those two steps back, Margo took two
equally small and quiet steps forward , (Green 5). This quote is evidence that Margo and Quentin
are opposites of each other. As the reader keeps on reading, they will

40. Rebel Without a Clue in John Updike s A P Essay
Rebel Without a Clue in Updike s A P
Adults always stress that it is important to make a good first impression. That is what Sammy was
trying to accomplish in John Updike s A P. Although some people believe that Sammy is a hero for
standing up for his beliefs when he quit, there is conclusive evidence that he quit in an attempt to
impress a girl he was obviously attracted to, Queenie.
We know he is attracted to Queenie because he goes to great lengths to tell us what she lookslike,
what her mannerisms are, and the way that the other girls follow her. For example, he says, She was
the Queen. She kind of led them, the other two peeking around and making their shoulders round
(1026). This simple quote shows that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I mean, it was more than pretty (1026). Someone who is attracted to someone else would usually
notice something as striking as that. He continued with, She held her head so high her neck,
coming out of those white shoulders, looked kind of stretched, but I didn t mind. The longer her
neck was, the more of her there was (1026). All of the above examples demonstrate how sexually
interested Sammy is in Queenie, but this one is the clincher: Still with that prim look she lifts a
folded dollar bill out of the hollow at the center of her nubbled pink top. The jar went heavy in my
hand (1028).
Sammy uses Lengel s reprimand to bring attention to himself. He was acting as a boy trying to
defend his girlfriend. Sammy says, The girls, and who d blame them, are in a hurry to get out,
so I say I quit to Lengel quick enough for them to hear, hoping they ll stop and watch me, their
unsuspected hero. This is the most obvious attempt that Sammy makes to impress the girls.
However, it doesn t work. The girls leave before Sammy can even get outside. Sammy s family
says that that is the sad part of the story. Sammy also says, and my stomach kind of fell as I felt
how hard the world was going to be to me hereafter (1030). Now, is this the sort of thing that
someone would say after standing up for something they believe in? I should say not! Most people

42. How Did Anne Hathaway Brought Up
7 Anne Hathaway Was Too Demanding For Knocked Up
Anne Hathaway was initially chosen to play the role of Alison in the film Knocked Up
alongside Seth Rogan but dropped out of the movie because she couldn t agree with the director.
According to writer and director Judd Apatow the actress didn t want to allow us to use real
footage of a woman giving birth to create the illusion that she is giving birth . Hathaway said in a
later interview that she didn t believe that it was necessary to the story. Considering that the movie
is based on pregnancy and childbirth this does seem a little strange but then again it is Hollywood.
Hathaway was replaced with Katherine Heigl who we feel was a much better fit for the film
anyway. Hathaway moved on to her back up project Becoming Jane which didn t fare nearly as
well with audiences as Knocked Up.

43. Essay about The Symbolism of the Bowl in Janus by Ann...
The Symbolism of the Bowl in Janus by Ann Beattie
In Janus Ann Beattie starts out by describing a certain bowl. The entire essay describes this bowl
in many different situations and from different points of view. After reading the story one might
think the bowl symbolizes herself or changes in her life or even the way she looks at herself.
However unconventional it may seem, a deeper analysis of the story pointed me in the direction of
seeing the bowl as a symbol of her love. Initially the bowl is perfect, as any new love seems to
be, spite not being the conventional beauty that everyone would see: The bowl was perfect.
Perhaps it was not what you d select if you faced a shelf of bowls, and not the sort of thing that ...

7). The fact that she did not keep it carefully wrapped means that she did not take care very well
of her love and the relationship could only end the way it did.
Paragraph eight is key in understanding Andrea s reasons to find a new love and why this love
is so special to her. She describes her husband s reaction to the bowl, which really symbolizes his
reaction when he notices that something is different. He notices she is happy even dough he
does not know why. He smiles and says the bowl is pretty, glad to see that his wife is happy but
never examining the reason, he never picks up the bowl and looks at it closely. Andrea also
notices that he has no more interest in her bowl that she has in his camera, which probably
symbolizes his lover.
The main character fells this love brings her luck, she is selling more houses than ever and the
bowl becomes more and more important to her. One day Andrea forgets the bowl in one of the
houses she is trying to sell, she gets desperate and rushes back to the house. In the first moment
she fells that she does not have her love or that she might lose it, she gets desperate and runs back
to him. Her lover, who thinks it is strange that she is back, does not notice until that moment how
carefully she had introduced her love into his life.
Towards the end of the story Andrea wants to tell her husband about her

Many people feel that when it comes to worshiping and praising God, their denomination tends
to do it a little better than others. For thousands of years there has always been conflict between
religions about whose religion is superior. Different religions may dramatically contrast on how
they function and practice their beliefs. Religious views and beliefs have changed immensely
over the years. With so many different religions in the U.S., there is a variety of different views

45. Tale Of Genji Critical Lens
I think that one of the main points for the first source, The Tale Of Genji, is that Japanese literature
can be just as important and masterful as European/Western and that The Tale of Genji shows that
by being amazingly written. I see that in this quote: If nothing else, the publication of this new
translation informs (or reminds) readers that there is a Japanese novelout there as complex and
masterful as any published in the West. That it was written 1,000 years ago in the Far East, and by
a woman, makes us question our long standing ideas about the roots of the modern novel . This
quote shows that because It says that we might need to question our ideas about the roots of the
novel. That is important to the theme because it s saying that

46. Summary Of The First Night By John Perry
The discussion of identity in philosophy has a history equal in length to philosophy itself.
Mathematics fundamentally relies on the Law of Identity, so it is a natural result that this law be
questions qualitatively as well. Therefore, for the unacquainted reader or those who wish to
refresh their knowledge, I will include an excessively brief overview of the relevant history
leading toward the main topic of the essay: John Perry s A Dialogue on Personal Identity and
Immortality, and my subsequent response. The summary will include a segments on the Greeks,
Saint Aquinas, and Cartesian Dualism. And will be followed by a brief introduction to Perry s
dialogue. Finally, I will argue that the main premise of Perry s dialogue is ill founded and... Show

Following this task, Miller then seeks to convince Weirob of the mere possibility of survival
after death, to which she forwards counters to. Perry uses this method to jump from position to
position, so that he can express and discuss many different perspectives on the topic. However,
despite the interesting qualities of these various positions, I wish to target the singular claim of
Perry that he uses as the basis for his dialogue. Through Weirob, Perry defines survival based on
the ability of a person to anticipate their future self (3). And, as a following claim, he defines
identity as a combination of survival and memory (4). Although the latter is relevant, the former is
of utmost importance, as it is the measure of survival that Perry uses throughout his dialogue. He
defines survival as anticipation to preclude anything that is not, in some way, a part of the person
for them to anticipate its activity. If, as I will show, this claim is inaccurate, the entire structure of
his arguments
