Vardavar is an ancient Armenian summer festival celebrated annually in July or August that involves the playful splashing of water. It is a joyous tradition where people, especially children, pour buckets of water on each other. The festival stems from pagan traditions associated with the Armenian goddess of fertility and water, Astghik. During Vardavar, people gather flowers, dance, sing songs, and travel to villages to participate in the celebrations, which aim to spread love and mark the harvest season.
