The International Table Tennis Federation
Table tennis is characterized by numerous rules that govern how the game should be played. The game
is mainly characterized by exceptionally fast reactions thereby making rules quite necessary. Players
must allow the ball to bounce once on their side of the court before returning it to the opposite end.
The initial serve is, however, exempted from this requirement. Points are scored if a team fails to keep
the ball in play. The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) instituted some key changes in the
rules of the game following the 2000 Olympics games, which were held in Sidney, Australia. The
amendments were mainly aimed at enhancing the game s viability as a spectator sport that could be
televised. Among the new changes was the increasing of the ball s diameter to 40 millimeters. Soon
thereafter, the ITTF changed the game s scoring system from 21 point to 11 point system
(International Table Tennis Federation, 2014). The serve rotation was also brought down from five
points to two. Soon thereafter, the global federation of the game changed the rules and effectively
prohibited players from hiding balls during service. In keeping with the sport s spirit of fairness, the
rules cushions opponents from being caught by surprise. Rules require that the ball must be tossed a
minimum of 16 centimeters in the air before being served. There are rules governing the course of
events during a match including which team takes the first serve. In order to highlight the numerous

Shmuel And Bruno Conflicts
At the beginning of the book Bruno is hates his new home and wishes he could be back in Germany
with his friends. He is very selfish and disobeys his father s orders often. By the end of the novel
Bruno is bringing Shmuel food and notices that he is not in good health. He is also starting to see his
mothers misery. I believe that the more Bruno met with Samuel he became more aware of what was
going to happen to him. I also think that as Bruno got older he became more knowledgeable and had a
better understanding of what was going on at that time in Germany and other European countries. The
main conflict in the book is Shmuel and Bruno trying to be friends. The two boys have entirely
different backgrounds which makes its hard for them to truly

In this system radio frequency identification plays the major role in the security purpose all other
hardware components plays the secondary roles. I used the RFID tags that s provides unique

the user to enter the room else the security alarm will be on.
Radio Frequency Identification
The radio frequency identification is the system, which uses the radio wave to read the information the

carrier in RFID, RFID tag reader or transceiver, which read data from and write to transponder and
data processing subsystem, which use the data obtained from the transceiver.
The transmitters and responders have electronic microchip that stores data and coupling elements like

The Mission Chapel Essay

La Purisima A.) The mission chapel is beautiful. The beauty of this chapel can compare to the Santa
Barbara one. They both are bright in color. When in the chapels I get a warm feeling. Old artwork.
Kind of built like an ancient style building. Candles light up the room. B.) The natives daily duties
consisted of mixing mud with straws to make adobe bricks to build. The Spanish soldiers lived a more
foreign like lifestyle because the mission and their teachings were rather new to the natives. Some
natives were blacksmiths and would build and repair the tools of Spanish society. Gradually, Chumash
stone implements gave way to iron and steel. The Natives also lived by three basic laws. ... Show

The Natives did not know how to use fire arms or agricultural tools. The natives were accomplished
traders that had a monetary system based on beads and seashells. Traded herbs, baskets, tools and
other artifacts with other tribes and bands, in the spirit of sharing as opposed to one of profiteering.
Natives lived a hunter gatherer to an agricultural based one under the tutelage of the Spanish system.
Natives also created currency from seashells that have been found up and down the coast of
California. C.) Earthquakes had affected La Purisima in a major way. So major, the natives had to
relocate the original site from just outside of Lompoc, Ca. The natives refused to return to the original
site, so the missions father decided to relocate to an area called La Canada de los Berros, a little
further from Lompoc, about four miles north. The fathers rebuilt the Mission but decided to put the
buildings in a straight line instead of the normal square shape since it would be more difficult for the
buildings to damage each other if they fell during another earthquake. La Purisima is the only Mission
not to follow the quadrangle shape of the rest of the Missions. La Canada de los Berros means The
Canyon of the water cress , this new site had several advantages: a better water supply, a better
climate, and a closer and safer access to El

Attachment Theory And Its Impact On Our Lives
New born babies are the future of mankind and how we treat them has a great impact on our lives.
Each new born baby is shaped by the culture they are around and no one baby is raised the exact same
as another baby. Early interactions with one s mother shape the way a baby will be throughout its life.
Depriving a baby of different motherly actions can have a profound impact on the baby s livelihood.
The attachment theory should continue to be researched because there is still much to learn about the
development of young infants. This is displayed in, an experiment by Harry Harlow, chapter 6 of
Opening Skinner s Box titled Monkey Love . Harlow designed an experiment to use fake monkey

Furthermore, from the time we are born, we need a being to help guide and shape us to keep the
natural cycle of life going. As humans, we are often called advanced descendants of a common
ancestor we share with present day apes and monkeys. This is showcases by the fact that 94% of
Rhesus Macaque Monkey s genetic heritage is the same as humans (136). Losing a loved one or any
traumatic experience can be one of the hardest things to deal with in life. These events often make us
appreciate the people in our life and help us cherish the ones close to us. Affection from another
human being can be one of the greatest things in life. A hug has so much more meaning behind it than
simply wrapping your arms around the person, it makes us feel safe and loved. A hug from a parent is
one of the greatest things in the world because of the love behind it. Harry Harlow completed his

Essay on Investigate the Water Potential of Potato Cells
Investigate the Water Potential of Potato Cells
Introduction
In my investigation, I hope to determine the water potential of potato cells. The plant material I will
use in my investigation will be potato chips, which I will cut myself prior to the investigation.
I hope to find the concentration of a solution where the chip stays the same mass and length, which
will tell me that the water potential inside the cells is the same as the water potential outside the cells.
Background
Osmosis is defined as the movement of water through a semi permeable membrane. Semi permeable
membranes are permeable to water but impermeable to certain dissolved substances. In the case of this
experiment, the sucrose molecules cannot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I will measure the length and cross sectional area for each chip.
o Time the chip is left in the solution I think that if I were to leave the chips in the solution for only a
small amount of time there might not be sufficient time for the osmosis to occur, so that the chips
would not differ in size enough for conclusive results. Therefore, I will need to give a good amount of
time for the osmosis to occur.
o Temperature I believe that all reactions happen quicker when there is a higher temperature, so
diffusion across the membrane may be faster at higher temperature.
o Concentration of sucrose solution I think that the lower the concentration of the external sucrose
solution, the more the chip will expand (because the cells become turgid).
o Total Volume of sucrose solution I think that changing the volume of sucrose solution may affect the
results of my investigation.
Variable I will change:
I will change the concentration of sucrose solution in my experiment, because I believe the results of
that experiment will tell me the water potential of the potato cells.
Fair Test
I will carry out all my experiments at the same temperature, 20°C, because that is room temperature,
and I will not have to heat up anything. I will cut my chips to the same dimensions every time, using a
ruler, and a sharp knife (for accuracy) to

Jesus Kick Off His Sermon With The Beatitudes Analysis
Kicking off His sermon with the Beatitudes, Jesus seeks to illustrate the necessary attitudes for life
within the kingdom of God. These types of behaviors are generally perceived as unconventional. Yet,
all nine of the Beatitudes share two common attributes: dependence upon God and trust in Him.
Starting His sermon this way would have been Jesus way of quickly dispelling the typical views held
by the Jews of His day. Frequently, Jews in the first century wouldn t have considered the aspects
detailed in the Beatitudes as being important or weighty matters. As Jesus intention is to correct the
misinterpretations propagated by the Pharisees and Sadducees, it makes sense that He would
commence His teachings with these blessed are they statements. ... Show more content on

Jesus in His final beatitude (cf. Matt. 5:11 12) instructs that those who suffer for the sake of
righteousness are blessed and shall inherit the kingdom. Contrary to contemporary views on
persecutions, Jesus is specifically referencing sufferings endured from religious people for religious
reasons. This beatitude exemplifies the idea of unconventional thought processes in the kingdom.
Rather than revile and slander their persecutors, Jesus teaches that they should rejoice and be
exceedingly glad (cf. Matt. 5:12a). Fighting back lends itself to being incorrect or undedicated;
remaining passive, on the other hand, shows a great deal of courage and contentment which would
speak much louder than being combative (cf. 1 Pet. 3:13

Comparison of Philosophies of Friedrich Nietzsche and the...
Science versus religion has always been a very controversial topic in this world and even more so in
the United States. It seems that this topic in some way, shape, form, or fashion always finds its way
into one s life through government, jobs, and most certainly in politics. When looking at the lives of
two men who embody the two controversial ideals of science and religion one can look at the lives
and views of His Holiness the Dalai Lama (views on compassion surrounding religion) and Friedrich
Nietzsche (views on Morality as Anti Nature surrounding science). Dalai Lama through his reading
seems to establish the concept that compassion is a guide for ethical behavior , while Nietzsche strives
to develop the concept that moral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this selection the Dalai Lama establishes compassion as a feeling similar to that of empathy.
Empathy as defined by the American Heritage Dictionary is, identification with and understanding of
another s situation, feelings, and motives. In establishing this type of compassion and empathy for our
fellow man, then we establish a type of love and intimacy that is similar to one that a mother has for
her only child. This compassion that one establishes allows one to enhance their sense of compassion,
and in doing so then one develops an intense sense of responsibility toward another suffering in that
they help the victim to overcome that suffering and the agent of that suffering. Even so, when we do
this then we establish the concept of consciousness and we enter into an ethically wholesome life.
If we can begin to relate to others on the basis of such equanimity, our compassion will not depend on
the fact that so and so is my husband, my wife, my relative, my friend. Rather, a feeling of closeness
toward all others can be developed based on the simple recognition that, just life myself, all wish to be
happy and to avoid suffering. In other words, we will start to relate to other on the basis of their
sentient nature. Again, we can think of this in terms of an ideal, one which it is immensely difficult to
attain. (Dalai Lama 734)
This total feeling of compassion, empathy, and an overall feeling of love create the feeling mentioned
above. In

Baseball Is America s National Pastime
The argument over which sport is originally Americas national past time is as enduring and intense as
American sports themselves. Each and every week millions of people tune in to watch their favorite
sports being played. Over the years baseball has traditionally been known as the national pastime
among all sports, but the rich tradition and history behind baseball is still around and noticed, with that
being said, baseball is still referred to as America s national pastime. This can be attributed to many
factors including a superior television product, more controlled violence, and legalized gambling with
fantasy football and baseball.
Each and every week millions of Americans tune in to watch their favorite sports. Basketball,
baseball, football, golf, soccer, and racing all have a place and a market with the sports fans in
America. Over the past two decades, baseball has been left behind while football has become America
s new national pastime (Kendrick, Scott. Baseball s Origins An Illustrated History Of Baseball.
Baseball.about.com. N.p., n.d. Web. 07 Oct. 2015. Page.2). According to Steve Rushin, a respected
writer for Sports Illustrated, to say football has displaced baseball as the national pastime is laughably
inadequate, like saying that TV has edged quilting as a popular diversion ( History: Birth of Pro

United States Political System
The United States political system has undergone a tremendous evolution since the inception of the
United States constitutional democracy. In our class discussion from Chapter 1, I learned that the
ongoing judicial review and institutional amendment processes that have worked in the political
system over time are what have made the system realize such an evolution. Numerous changes based
on the philosophies of individuals such as John Locke occurred in the Constitution as the political
system continued to grow. Various changes in light of the rationalities of people, for example, John
Locke happened in the Constitution as the political framework kept on advancing. One of these
progressions incorporated the improvement of nearby governments ... Show more content on

The privilege to worship religion in a free setting. This is an intriguing and convincing one for me.
Vote based system functions admirably when the greater part of its residents feel that they find
themselves able to have some effective reach that is free from outside control. The issue of religion is
one that falls into this class. People need to feel some level of profound satisfaction and ought to have
the capacity to pick uninhibitedly how that way is taken. It can be through religion, deep sense of
being, or ID with a code of honor that is comprehended by them and only them. The length of this
right does not meddle with each others entitlement to be allowed to sit untethered, the vote based
obligation of resilience and acknowledgment is progressed and I think that this is of basic significance
in a law based state. More spiritual fulfillment within in any individual. I think the image I would
utilize is something like an open field for deep sense spirituality is an open field where one can choose
where they wish to graze into the blue skies or whatever they may choose. I believe that if the United
States was like many other countries and controlling which way or what our religion is would be very
crazy. Having the right privilege to worship God or whom ever or what ever makes this country
democratic. If I personal did not have the freedom of

Horror Movies Are All the same
Horror movies generally are all the same. They all have been based off of something that has already
happened or a previous movie. Society has paid to be entertained by these gruesome stories that we all
truly fear. Before movies, people would purchase books of similar traumatic events to read in their
spare time for amusement. It has been said by the Filmmakers IQ s horror film lesson (2012), that
writers such as Bram Stoker created graphic novels that would grab the audience s attention for years
to come. But the horror movie, The House Of The Devil (1896), was noted as being the first ever
horror movie. And as the years pasted, the industry grew and became stronger. But Ryan Koo (2013)

Stoker s heir still ended up suing, and the courts ordered all copies of Nosferatu be destroyed. But a
single copy of the film had been missed and later was revealed. The story of Dracula is continually
told and being remade even today. It is something that has always frightened people, so the industry
continues to build off it. The older generation of writers such as Bram Stoker and Mary Shelly are
known for German Expressionism. German Expressionism is responsible for creating The Cabinet Of
Dr. Caligari, which is still considered one of the greatest silence films created in the era. Ryan Koo
(2013) claims the film also took credit for being one of the first to example story board and having a
twist ending. Once the film had been created it lead people to explore the possibilities of the art of
horror. Following the creation of The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari was the making of The Golem. This film
continued to be remade over the years. Writters from New york State Writers Institute (2011) say it
started with a man by the name of Paul Wegener. He was fascinated by the legend of the Golem. The
story spoke of a giant clay monster that saved Pragues Jewish citizens for an emperor that believed
they were ritually killing children. Gothic Horror has to be one of the best forms of art. Which is
probably why film markers continue to go back to it. It played on both the thrill and the fear of

family was sent to an internment camp for Japanese Canadians during World Word II. Therefore, the
poet s history with racism has greatly impacted her and influences her writing today. Considering the

Pros And Cons Of Pornography
In class we discussed pornography and how it can either be seen as moral or immoral. In the book
Exploring Ethics by Steven M. Cahn, Helen E. Longino wrote chapter thirty eight titled Pornography,
Oppression, and Freedom. Longino believes that pornography is immoral and that it causes more harm
than good in society. She believes that pornography singles out woman and is defamatory, violent, and
should be regulated. My argument is against Longino, if porn is restricted several movies would be
deemed immoral because of nudity. The connection between violence against women and
pornography would not change or even increase if restrictions apply. No one should be forced into
pornography, but the option should be available without regulation. Pornography can be considered
verbal or pictorial. For pictorial pornography the person can watch in on their laptop, cellphone, or
even television. For verbal pornography they can read it in a book, on a website, call a hotline or even
listen to a podcast. There is homosexual, heterosexual, transgendered porn and much more available
on the web. There are major companies that produce videos as well as homemade videos for personal
or public use. Longino believes that pornography is, implicated in the committing of crimes of
violence against women . There are several varieties of pornography that seem immoral because of the
societal pressures put on people. Personally, I would never watch or get any satisfaction from porn and
the violence

Architectural Outline Vitruvius
Augustus saw Rome as a downtrodden city in comparison to the Empire and he wanted to make life
better for the citizens. Working with Vitruvius resulted in On Architecture; architectural standards for
planning, design, materials, etc. used to improve the city. One of the first things they did was build a
40 mile aqueduct that brought water to the city center. After establishing a water system, he turned his
attention to the housing situation. Augustus felt the houses were too small but knew there was no way
to make them bigger. This realization resulted in restoration of temples and beautiful outdoor spaces.
He felt this would get people out of their homes and give them something to do.
The above examples mimic modern society and public services we receive. We all have city water;
water that flows through aqueducts before it comes into our homes. We also have an assortment of
parks across the USA; everything from your neighborhood park to national parks like Mt. Rushmore.
But I think I found the most similarity between cultures in the architectural outline ... Show more

Augustus wanted the people to like him, if he made life good they would like them and in turn would
be loyal. Our public works are ran by budgets, not whether or not the official wants the people to like
them. And there s never enough money so public work improvements have to be prioritized with a
completion date that could be several years away. In addition, there are cities in the US who don t
have drinkable water in their homes. In today s society this is unacceptable. But the government
officials who should have been overseeing this and fixed this swept it under the rug. That is until word
got out. Augustus was able to build the aqueduct in what I can tell 1 year, yet Flint has been going
almost 3 years with poisonous water and repaires haven t quite started. In fact, they don t expect it to
be completed until 2019 5

The Empire Of The Persian Empire
Extending from Egypt to northern Central Asia, the Persian empire was one of the most immense
empires that the ancient world had seen. Its emergence began in 550 B.C, once Cyrus the Great who
had recently come into power conquered his northern neighbor, the Medes, giving him access to the
reserves of gold and silver that were buried in the Zagros Mountains. Encouraged by his conquest of
the Medes, he captured Babylon and then advanced through Asia Minor to the Mediterranean Sea. He
later united the Persians, allowing him to create the Persian Empire, also known as the Achaemenid
empire. With access to the Mediterranean seaports, the Persians gained control of the wealth of the
ancient world from the regions, allowing them to built a vast and prosperous empire. Although Cyrus
is partially known for being a great conqueror, he is most importantly recognized as a pioneer of
human rights. To manage his boundless empire he divided newly conquered territories into provinces
which helped him rule freely. Even after his death, leaders like Darius I adopted his influential
techniques allowing them to maintain the expansive Persian Empire. Although the Persians established
their vast empires through sanguinary battles, they remained successful and continued to influence
other empires for years because of their tolerant nature and organized society.
Persians leaders allowed the people under their rule to live freely under the law and worship as they
pleased which helped them gain the

and even the conversations were different, because each culture valued something different. And even
when the values were the same, it was expressed in different ways. So, when the mini ethnography

Italians are stereotyped to be snobby and stuck up, while the southern Italians are stereotyped to be

was that here in The United States, and as well as in Germany, when someone eats pasta, it is
considered to be good manners to twirl the pasta using a spoon, however in Italy this is not the case. I

Erikson s Stages Of Development
Adolescent Development The age of adolescents is generally a time of great change within a person s
life. Between the ages of twelve and eighteen, adolescents do not only experience rapid physical
change, but also begin to find their own unique personality by completing cognitive, behavioral, moral
and social stages. These stages were defined by different theorists such as Erik Erikson, Jean Piaget
and Lawrence Kohlberg. After completing these stages an adolescent should be able to develop into a
healthy and happy adult who can think abstractly and has their own set of morals and identity (Berk,
2014, pg. 402).

407). Kohlberg s levels of morality are separated into three main stages. Children are most often in the
first stage, the preconventional level, At this level individuals reason through their morals based upon
consequences that will come after. The conventional level describes how individuals at this stage
conform to agreed upon morals and rules to keep the order rather than avoiding punishment. The last
and most advanced stage is the postconventional stage which entails individuals who move beyond
agreed upon rules and morals and actually question established beliefs and principles (Berk, 2014, p.g.

Hagia Triada Sarcophagus is no exception. By analyzing the physical details such as size/dimensions,
material, style, images depicted, and the location of the artifact, this can help people determine the
reason and purpose of its existence. Eventually this can lead to how it may change or add to the
knowledge of the classical world. Looking at an artifact s physical attributes is always the first step to

In addition, styles that were common in Minoan Art is present in the images. For example, women had
pale white skin with similar hairstyle, and were bare breasted while the men were dark skinned. Bulls
were also present throughout the sarcophagus, a common theme in various pieces of Minoan artifacts.
However, while much of the images contain styles of Minoan art, there are some details that are
different. This can be seen in the griffin on the shorter side of the sarcophagus where Minoan
characteristics of the griffin with a bird head, leonine body, and notched wings are present but it is
missing details such as the running spirals on its neck and wings like the griffins found in the Throne
Room at Knossos or Xeste 3 on Thera. All this contributes to the date of c. 1400 as this was the time

My Life After The World
Margaret Mead once said: Never believe that a few caring people can t change the world. For, indeed,
that s all who ever have. This quote certainly holds true for me. When I was in elementary school, a
caring man changed my life without knowing it. In second grade, my mother signed me and my little
sister up for ice skating class. For an extremely brief time period, I had visions of becoming a figure
skating prodigy, but they immediately dissipated as soon as I stepped onto the ice. I couldn t take a
step without slipping, but I was terrified of falling. To get to the area of the arena where the class was
taking place, I had to hang onto the side of the wall and slowly push myself sideways.
When class started, the teacher first taught us to skate across the ice by stepping outward with our
skates. Our first task was to skate across the ice arena. I felt like I was two again. I took tiny baby
steps across the ice, afraid to fall. I wasn t sure why I was deathly scared of falling. I was bundled up
in snowpants and a heavy winter coat, so falling wouldn t have hurt much anyway, and it wasn t like
falling was an extremely horrible mistake. But I was afraid to take a big step and fall. In life, I have
never wanted to take big risks. I was always careful not to make a mistake and look like a fool.
I looked ahead. My sister, Grace, was already halfway to the other side of the ice arena. She fell again
and again, but got back up and skated faster with each fall. Every time she

Evidence Search Our review of research on the apprehensions and anxieties of graduate Masters of
Social Work students entering practice encompasses studies from 1990 through 2015. Processing the
information that would be productive for valid search our research team used three search engines that
produce the evidence based material. The search engines used included: Google Scholar, Ebsco Host,
and JSTOR through Arkansas State University One Search. The relevant search terms selected for this
study included: stress with social work students (584hits), anxiety and MSW students (601 hits),
fitness to practice, graduate education, profession (791 hits). Next we took into account the number of
entries being considered; however, usually it is a small percentage of entries that are found to be
relevant to the topic one is searching. Adding the search terms into various databases yielded a result
of a total of 1976 articles. The first 20 results per entry were examined for relevance. Among these
entries, only 10 were found relevant to the formulated question being observed. Articles that may have
been prevalent yet excluded were due to no funding for the research and many of the additional
articles were from other than the United States. Additionally, articles must have been written in
English to be considered.

Depression And Guilt In Lovely Bones By Alice Sebold
Lovely Bones Essay Heaven is comfort, but it s still not living. Alice Sebold. Alice Sebold the author
of Lovely Bones creates a story of depression, guilt, and grief with the murder of Susie Salmons. In
Lovely Bones the death of Susie affects all those close to her, like her mother, her father and her
classmates. Her father grieves with despair as the murderer has yet to be caught. Her mother can not
handle her disappearance and finds unnerving ways to cope. Susie s classmates, Ruth and Ray both
find ways to cope with each other and through other connections with Susie. A death of a loved young
one is one no one is ever ready for. The grief starts and people find ways to feel guilty. If no mental

Although Jack admits that Susie has left, he shifts his attention to another desire, the desire to bring
her death to justice through an unlawful path. We ve just built a tent, Mr.Harvey said. The neighbors
saw us. We re friends now You know something, my father said. (57). Jack, like everyone else has
flaws and his stubbornness leads him to doing something he would not normally do. His
unextinguishable passion to find Susie s murderer leads him to coincidently believe that Mr.Harvey is
Susie s killer. However Mr.Harvey is the murderer of Susie, the evidence shown to Jack and the police
show no evidence that Mr.Harvey committed the murder, which further proves that Jack is chasing a
blank slate. Jack needs a scapegoat for his grief and chooses to find revenge in unproven subjects. A
father s suspicion she began. Is as powerful as a mother s intuition (87) says Jack. Once again Jack is
trying to find a reason to make his illogical suspicion logical. Jack refuses to believe that Susie s death
occurred without a killer. He puts himself in denial and by doing so he will grieve forever. Jack s
perpetual grief will go on as long he finds things to place guilt on. Furthermore Sebold shows that rage
and denial can be used to deal with the death of a loved one. To follow, one can choose to resort to
another lover or to isolate themselves from their family. Susie s mother, Abigail may have been the
one who took Susie s death with greatest impact.

Caveat Emptor Sales of Good Act Implied Terms Essay
The Latin principle of caveat emptor literally meaning let the buyer beware, has been followed for
many years by the English courts in the context of business transactions. Pre the industrial revolution
the action for breach of contractual rights needed a written warranty otherwise action could only be
brought on the grounds of fraud. The reasoning for such action was based on the manner in which
business was conducted, that is, namely at small fairs where buyers could inspect the goods and
haggle accordingly. This is evidenced in cases such as Chandelor v Lopus in which a plaintiff brought
an action against the defendant in relation to a Bezoar stone which was thought to have medicinal
properties. In this instance, the majority of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was this mergence that saw Lord Mansfield becoming known as the founder of commercial law
within this country [United Kingdom] , due to his ability to harmonise commercial custom and the

fundamental principles of the old law and that that marriage of idea proved acceptable to both
merchants and lawyers. At this stage, the principle of caveat emptor was utilised as a guiding principle
for the courts, devised namely in response to the manner in which business at this time was
undertaken. This was in response to the manner in which business was conducted, namely in small
fairs with small quantities of goods being bought and sold, buyers were afforded the opportunity to
inspect the goods and use their own knowledge and skill to determine whether or not to purchase
them. As such, it was the buyer s responsibility to ensure that due diligence was observed at the time
of purchase. Failing to inspect the goods resulted in the cost would be lost if the goods purchased were
not what was wanted. In this context protection for buyers was to a certain extent non existent. The
only way in which a seller could be held liable was in circumstances where a written warranty was
issued or if the case was considered to be one of false affirmation. Cases of false affirmation occurred
where the buyer was convinced to buy something by the false statements of the seller;

The Battle On Pork Chop Hill
In many war stories officers are depicted as the, heroes of the battle based off of what was credited in
history. Some supported the war efforts exhausted in order to contain communism and others felt like
we were fighting an unjust war. The views of the Battle on Pork Chop Hill are no different. US forces
originally occupied a location originally known as Hill 355 in October of 1951. The tactics used to
capture and fight for this location were brutal, and exhausting for both sides. Various Infantry and
Artillery units fought to capture and defend this hill. Using Artillery during this war was key for U.S.
forces to capture and control Pork Chop Hill. Even though some would say it was a long drawn out
war, it shows the importance of artillery during battle because it provides soldiers basic leadership
skills, strengthens future generations of soldiers, and their basic military heritage and tactics. The
Battle on Pork Chop Hill is a significant event in the war because it lasted longer than any other single
battle during the Korean War. The Field Artillery was important to these battles and so were the effects
it had on these events. Many lives were lost as a result of fighting for this hill including Soldiers from
the NATO coalition forces, United States, North Korea, and China. Both sides had constructed such
great defensive tactics that if they tried to advance, it would result in loss of more men. Like many
wars, this battle focuses on political views. When

My First Day Of College Essay
My first day of college was kind of a blur but it was most certainly a very important one. I spent my
first semester of college at Central Michigan University, I arrived on the Friday before classes started
which is commonly known as Welcome Weekend around campus. Coming into it I really didn t know
what to expect from college, I was really nervous about meeting my roommates and having to
communicate with them. I had been friends with the same 6 people for the past 5 years and moving on
into a new environment where I knew no one was pretty daunting. I live in Livonia Michigan it s
about 20 minutes out from Detroit, CMU is in Mount Pleasant just over 2 hours away. I was so sad to
leave my friends that day I basically slept the whole way to Mount Pleasant just so I wouldn t cry.
When I arrived my parents and I along with some help from the student volunteers unpacked my aunts
minivan and moved into my home for next 9 months. I was the first to arrive so I obviously chose the
biggest room, I stayed in Trout hall on the north side of campus. The way they had it set was 4
roommates in one dorm, each dorm had 2 bed rooms and 1 bathroom as well as a common room.
Different dorm halls had different rooming methods but the one Trout used was pretty common on
campus. Once I was all moved in and unpacked my parents went out to grab me some groceries, I

Personal Aspects Of Personal Strengths
Have you ever experienced something that changed your outlook on life? Personal strength is
realizing you are at low times, but finding the positives even when it seems like nothing will get
better. During times of weakness, I struggled with finding hope and strength within myself. Personal
strength defines us as individuals. Because I experienced the loss of a good friend, and the divorce of
my parents at a young age, I was able to find personal strength.
Through the support of my friends and family, I was able to find personal strength after the loss of a
dear friend. In October of 2016, all of my friends and loved ones received the horrible news that our
friend had been in a horrible car accident. On October 15th, 2016 our blue eyed, blonde and beautiful
friend had passed away at only sixteen years old. Through this horrific time, it became very hard for
me, my peers, and my family to find strength. When we heard the news, our hearts ached, our bodies
trembled and our minds shut down. I simply felt nothing, but pain and sadness. This hardship became
very hard to stay positive and keep hope for better things to come in the future. Finding strength soon
became easier because I was not alone. I was not the only one trying to cope with the loss. We all
supported each other through this hard time. The support from my friends and family, for we were all
struggling together made it easier to find personal strength.

A Midsummer NIght s Dream A Midsummer Night s Dream is a classical play written by William

#9;Much debate and controversy surround the rise and fall of Richard the Third. It is hard to ignore

will be taken in the perspective of his royal acts and administration of England. Public sentiment over
such things as the scandal surrounding the princes did have an effect over the rule of Richard, but
there are many other underlying aspects that could have extended Richards rule, and changed the way

reforms for the better of England with his various Public Acts . The most important centered around
Royal benevolence. Richard pushed for making it illegal for such activities by the king, and for
financial reform of the government. He also established a line of succession to ensure the stability of
England when he died. This had been missing in England for some years. Richard had social agendas
as well. Richard calls for measures to reform the court systems. Corruption had taken hold of juries
and Richard instated laws to minimize this as well as defend those accused of crimes by creating bail.
To ensure all were represented, even those poor who could not afford representation in court, Richard
III called for the creation of the Court of Requests. These courts gave the opportunity for anyone to

The main principle behind rock candy is called crystallization. Crystal is formed when molecules of
the substance arrange themselves in infinite repetitive arrays. Rock candy is made with pure sugar
cane, which gives it its unique taste. The first inventor of rock candy is unknown but it can be traced
back to India and Iran from the 9th century. Early on, as recounted in the writings, twigs would be
used as a device for the crystals to grow on. Over time, the plain white sugar crystals were decorated
in a custom that continues to this day. Adding to Arabic writings, rock candy has been mentioned in
writings which dated back to more than 700 years ago. It was also mentioned in a Persian poem in the

Born in 1902 in Salinas, California, Nobel Prize winner, John Steinbeck, was one of the most
important writers in America during the 20th century. In his novels, East of Eden, Of Mice and Men,
Cannery Row, and In Dubious Battle, Steinbeck explores what it takes for a person to find true

Charles provides a perfect example of the importance a relationship has, and how not having one can
bring out the darkest part of one s personality. Whereas he used East of Eden to focus on the American
Dream of one s desire to make a better life for his or her children, Steinbeck uses Of mice and Men to
focus on the unachievable aspect of the American Dream. In the novella, George and Lennie convey
this theme through their reassurance that they will not have to tend to someone else s ranch and will
soon have there own: O.K. Someday we re gonna get the jack together and we re gonna have a little
house and a couple of acres an a cow and some pigs and An live off the fatta the lan , (Of Mice and
Men, p. 13). Throughout the novella George repeats this line more often and it even acts as one of the
few things Lennie remembers. It appears the more times they reassure themselves of this dream, the
more it shifts from reality to fantasy. This dream also catches the imagination of other characters in the
novel, one being Crooks. Crooks, who naturally does not believe in the luxury of dreaming, becomes
transformed by Lennie s thinking: ...If you...guys would want a hand to work for nothing just his keep,
why I d come an lend a hand (Of Mice and Men, p. 73). This quotation suggests every American

The Accounting Principles Of Financial Statements And...
Accounting in health care has profound effects on financial statements, and knowing the necessary
components to conducting financial reports and balancing the assets is vital. Many things contribute to
the overall foundation of the balance sheet and valuations for the health care organization. A lot of
moving parts are required to keep health care organizations running and afloat for the long term. One
must understand the accounting concepts, and methods, terminology, in order to explain the various
uses on how they apply to balance sheets. Valuing assets and Generally Accepted Accounting
Principles (GAAP) method is effective for the right valuation as they will be explained in the
following paragraphs.
Differences between Cash and Accrual Accounting
Cash accounting is a simple method which deals with revenue and expense within the health care
organization and personal uses. This method can easily apply to everyday people as several people
have a personal checkbook; they use to keep track of their expenses and depositing money every so
often. Using a checkbook is how we withdraw money for expenses which is one standard way to pay
for items. Cash basis accounting is also applied when reporting salaries for physicians or registered
nurses as an expense and this would allow no revenue of patients treated by physicians until the
following year when profits are collected. As good as method this is for people, accountants strive for

If you have ever lived in proximity to coastal areas you may have seen coastline erosion first hand.
The beaches you frequent during the summer may seem to be getting smaller and smaller every year.
Why does your favorite beach seem to be disappearing? Coastal erosion is to blame. The waves, wind,
tides and currents all play a part in the mechanism that is coastal erosion. When water and wind batter
the shoreline sediments are carried out to sea and deposited on the sea floor or at other points along
the coastline. This is called an erosional coastline. This erosion may be very apparent or seem to have
happened overnight when it happens due to a large storm or extremely high tide.

(Chambers, 2007) At this point the headland becomes a sea arch. As time passes water erodes at the
base of the sea arch and wind and freezing water create a hydraulic effect in the cracks on the arch

tidal and wind action the sea stack eventually wears down to a smaller version of what it was
originally, it is now known as a sea stump. The next illustration depicts the processes that encompass
the creation of a sea arch through erosion to a sea stump. (Chambers, 2007)
Wave cut platforms are another feature of an erosional coastline. Along coastlines with cliff edges that
sit about the shore these features are apparent they look like gently sloping areas of landnear the shore
just above sea level. (Chambers, 2007) These benches and marine terraces are the product of wave
action eroding the rock at the base of the cliff until the cliff cannot support itself on its new foundation
and crumbles into the sea. Over time the collapsed land will have much of the smaller debris eroded
away and much of the remaining rock or earth will be somewhat smoothed over to create a gentle
slope to the water. (Chambers, 2007)

Feudalism And Feudal States From Europe After The Breakup...

How did feudalism and feudal states come to be formed in Europe after the breakup of the Carolingian
empire?
Feudalism is the word used to describe a complex set of relationships which appeared following the
reign of Charlemagne. I came to find that basically there isn t a book to tell you exactly about
feudalism, no rule book or handbook. Because of this feudalism is sometimes difficult to describe and
just as difficult to understand, I had problems understanding the topic myself. I actually found myself
having to think harder and require more resources spending multiple hours just researching on the
matter just to understand the system as much as possible and its apparently nonexistent rules. On top
of that, also attempting to learn how feudalism first started and why of its popularity for many years.
As I continued to gather information, I noticed the difficulty of finding just how and where feudalism
made its first appearance. It was rare I would find two credible sources with the same historical dating
for feudalism.
Feudalism was the term officially used by historians to describe the type of government institutions, as
well as the general social and political relationships, that existed at that period among warrior
landholders in much of Europe, what we know today as the Middle Ages. Feudalism, a few years later
after its birth, it began defined as a contract under which military service was given in

I chose Urie Bronfenbrenner s bioecological model of child development to reflect on my stages of
development. In the microsystem of Bronfenbrenner s model, my early childhood family structure
included my uncle, his wife and their five children. I went to live with my uncle after my mother
passed away. By middle childhood, my uncle and his wife migrated to the United Sates and I went to
live with one of his daughters( Erica) and her two children. They became my construct of what a
family represent. Although I was welcomed in Erica s family, I felt as if I did not belong in their
family. The only place I felt accepted was at school. The classroom represented a place where I
expressed my feelings without being ignored or judged by my peers. Also, I had very observant and
understanding teachers who had the best of my interest. I had one teacher , Mr. Francis, who believed
that I was capable of improving academically. At the end of his class, he noted in my report card that I
had potential to be academically competent, however, I needed to settle down and apply myself to
learning. His comments motivated me to do my best throughout elementary school. During elementary
school, I maintained healthy relationships with my peers. There were never any reports of misconduct
of any misunderstanding amongst my peers. In fact, interactions with them thought me how to engage
in fair play, wait my turn, build trust and explore my environment. In exploring my environment, I

  • 2. The International Table Tennis Federation Table tennis is characterized by numerous rules that govern how the game should be played. The game is mainly characterized by exceptionally fast reactions thereby making rules quite necessary. Players must allow the ball to bounce once on their side of the court before returning it to the opposite end. The initial serve is, however, exempted from this requirement. Points are scored if a team fails to keep the ball in play. The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) instituted some key changes in the rules of the game following the 2000 Olympics games, which were held in Sidney, Australia. The amendments were mainly aimed at enhancing the game s viability as a spectator sport that could be televised. Among the new changes was the increasing of the ball s diameter to 40 millimeters. Soon thereafter, the ITTF changed the game s scoring system from 21 point to 11 point system (International Table Tennis Federation, 2014). The serve rotation was also brought down from five points to two. Soon thereafter, the global federation of the game changed the rules and effectively prohibited players from hiding balls during service. In keeping with the sport s spirit of fairness, the rules cushions opponents from being caught by surprise. Rules require that the ball must be tossed a minimum of 16 centimeters in the air before being served. There are rules governing the course of events during a match including which team takes the first serve. In order to highlight the numerous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He is very selfish and disobeys his father s orders often. By the end of the novel Bruno is bringing Shmuel food and notices that he is not in good health. The natives daily duties consisted of mixing mud with straws to make adobe bricks to build. The Spanish soldiers lived a more foreign like lifestyle because the mission and their teachings were rather new to the natives. The natives refused to return to the original site, so the missions father decided to relocate to an area called La Canada de los Berros, a little further from Lompoc, about four miles north. The fathers rebuilt the Mission but decided to put the buildings in a straight line instead of the normal square shape since it would be more difficult for the buildings to damage each other if they fell during another earthquake. La Purisima is the only Mission not to follow the quadrangle shape of the rest of the Missions. Each new born baby is shaped by the culture they are around and no one baby is raised the exact same as another baby. Early interactions with one s mother shape the way a baby will be throughout its life. Depriving a baby of different motherly actions can have a profound impact on the baby s livelihood. • 10. Jesus Kick Off His Sermon With The Beatitudes Analysis Kicking off His sermon with the Beatitudes, Jesus seeks to illustrate the necessary attitudes for life within the kingdom of God. These types of behaviors are generally perceived as unconventional. Yet, all nine of the Beatitudes share two common attributes: dependence upon God and trust in Him. Starting His sermon this way would have been Jesus way of quickly dispelling the typical views held by the Jews of His day. Frequently, Jews in the first century wouldn t have considered the aspects detailed in the Beatitudes as being important or weighty matters. Contrary to contemporary views on persecutions, Jesus is specifically referencing sufferings endured from religious people for religious reasons. This beatitude exemplifies the idea of unconventional thought processes in the kingdom. Rather than revile and slander their persecutors, Jesus teaches that they should rejoice and be exceedingly glad (cf. Matt. 5:12a). It seems that this topic in some way, shape, form, or fashion always finds its way into one s life through government, jobs, and most certainly in politics. When looking at the lives of two men who embody the two controversial ideals of science and religion one can look at the lives and views of His Holiness the Dalai Lama (views on compassion surrounding religion) and Friedrich Nietzsche (views on Morality as Anti Nature surrounding science). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this selection the Dalai Lama establishes compassion as a feeling similar to that of empathy. Empathy as defined by the American Heritage Dictionary is, identification with and understanding of another s situation, feelings, and motives. In establishing this type of compassion and empathy for our fellow man, then we establish a type of love and intimacy that is similar to one that a mother has for her only child. This compassion that one establishes allows one to enhance their sense of compassion, and in doing so then one develops an intense sense of responsibility toward another suffering in that they help the victim to overcome that suffering and the agent of that suffering. Even so, when we do this then we establish the concept of consciousness and we enter into an ethically wholesome life. If we can begin to relate to others on the basis of such equanimity, our compassion will not depend on the fact that so and so is my husband, my wife, my relative, my friend. Rather, a feeling of closeness toward all others can be developed based on the simple recognition that, just life myself, all wish to be happy and to avoid suffering. In other words, we will start to relate to other on the basis of their sentient nature. Again, we can think of this in terms of an ideal, one which it is immensely difficult to attain. Over the years baseball has traditionally been known as the national pastime among all sports, but the rich tradition and history behind baseball is still around and noticed, with that being said, baseball is still referred to as America s national pastime. Longino wrote chapter thirty eight titled Pornography, Oppression, and Freedom. Longino believes that pornography is immoral and that it causes more harm than good in society. She believes that pornography singles out woman and is defamatory, violent, and should be regulated. My argument is against Longino, if porn is restricted several movies would be deemed immoral because of nudity. The connection between violence against women and pornography would not change or even increase if restrictions apply. No one should be forced into pornography, but the option should be available without regulation. Pornography can be considered verbal or pictorial. For pictorial pornography the person can watch in on their laptop, cellphone, or even television. For verbal pornography they can read it in a book, on a website, call a hotline or even listen to a podcast. There is homosexual, heterosexual, transgendered porn and much more available on the web. Its emergence began in 550 B.C, once Cyrus the Great who had recently come into power conquered his northern neighbor, the Medes, giving him access to the reserves of gold and silver that were buried in the Zagros Mountains. Encouraged by his conquest of the Medes, he captured Babylon and then advanced through Asia Minor to the Mediterranean Sea. He later united the Persians, allowing him to create the Persian Empire, also known as the Achaemenid empire. With access to the Mediterranean seaports, the Persians gained control of the wealth of the ancient world from the regions, allowing them to built a vast and prosperous empire. Although Cyrus is partially known for being a great conqueror, he is most importantly recognized as a pioneer of human rights. To manage his boundless empire he divided newly conquered territories into provinces which helped him rule freely. The beaches you frequent during the summer may seem to be getting smaller and smaller every year. Why does your favorite beach seem to be disappearing? Coastal erosion is to blame. The waves, wind, tides and currents all play a part in the mechanism that is coastal erosion. When water and wind batter the shoreline sediments are carried out to sea and deposited on the sea floor or at other points along the coastline. This is called an erosional coastline. This erosion may be very apparent or seem to have happened overnight when it happens due to a large storm or extremely high tide. So all coastlines are subject to this abuse from the ... Along coastlines with cliff edges that sit about the shore these features are apparent they look like gently sloping areas of landnear the shore just above sea level. Feudalism is the word used to describe a complex set of relationships which appeared following the reign of Charlemagne. I came to find that basically there isn t a book to tell you exactly about feudalism, no rule book or handbook. Because of this feudalism is sometimes difficult to describe and just as difficult to understand, I had problems understanding the topic myself. I actually found myself having to think harder and require more resources spending multiple hours just researching on the matter just to understand the system as much as possible and its apparently nonexistent rules. On top of that, also attempting to learn how feudalism first started and why of its popularity for many years. As I continued to gather information, I noticed the difficulty of finding just how and where feudalism made its first appearance. Feudalism was the term officially used by historians to describe the type of government institutions, as well as the general social and political relationships, that existed at that period among warrior landholders in much of Europe, what we know today as the Middle Ages. At the end of his class, he noted in my report card that I had potential to be academically competent, however, I needed to settle down and apply myself to learning.
