Japonca'da 'erkek dili' ve 'kadın dili' vardır. Erkekler oldukça erkeksi bir dille konuşurken
kadınların bu dile ait kelimeleri ünlemleri kullanması pek doğru bulunmaz. Ancak günümüzde
Japon kültüründe egemen olan yabancılaşma her alana olduğu gibi dile de etki etmiştir.
8. Kimono da Japon kültürünün en önemli unsurudur. Kimono giyen Japonlar
adeta sihirli çubukla büyülenmişcesine seremonik ve kibar davranışlar sergilerler.
Kimononun da farklılıkları vardır.
Evli kadınların kimonolarının kolları kısadır. Bekarların ise uzundur. 20 yaşına
basan genç kızlar aile içinde seremoniyle kimono giyer ve 20 yaşını kutlar.
9. Japon mutfağı, bir çorba ile Japon pirinci veya eriştesi ve balık eti, sebze, tofu ve
benzer besini lezzet eklemek için yapılan okazu gibi temel gıdalara dayanmaktadır. Erken
modern çağda kırmızı et gibi daha önceden Japonya'da yaygın olmayan ürünler geldi.
Japon mutfağı, gıdanın mevsimselliği, malzemeler ve sunum kalitesi ile bilinmektedir.
Japon mutfağı, geleneksel tariflerle ve yerel malzemelerle geniş bir dizi bölgesel
özellikler sunmaktadır. Michelin Rehberi, Japonya'daki restoranları dünyanın geri
kalanından daha fazla Michelin yıldızı ile ödüllendirdi.
10. Japonlar gerçek bir spor hayranıdırlar. Beyzbol Japonya'ya 1870'lerde tanıtıldı ve kısa süre
sonra ülkenin en sevilen takım sporu oldu. Merkez Lig ve Pasifik Ligi - ve birçok beyzbol yıldızı,
özellikle de Oh Sadaharu, ülkenin en tanınmış ulusal ünlüleri arasında yer aldı.
Japonya, 1912'de Olimpiyat Oyunlarında yarışmaya başladı. Ülke, Olimpiyatlara üç kez ev
sahipliği yaptı: Tokyo'da 1964 Yaz Oyunları (Asya'da ilk kez Olimpiyat Oyunları düzenlendi) ve 1972
ve 1998'de Sapporo'da kış oyunları düzenlendi. Japon sporcular birçok spor dalında başarılı olmuş
ve özellikle jimnastik ve judo müsabakalarında oldukça başarılıdırlar.
11. Japonya'da Şintoizm ve Budizm olarak 2 din hakimdir. 2006 ve 2008
yıllarında yapılan araştırmalara göre, Japonya nüfusunun %40'ından azı örgütlü
bir dine mensuptur (yaklaşık % 35'i Budist, % 3-4'ü ise Şinto mezheplerine ve
türetilmiş dinlere ve %1 Hristiyan).
Halk %90 Budist ya da Şintoist veya ikisinin birleşimine mensup olarak
tanımlamaktadır.
12. Anime (Japonca: アニメ), Japonya'ya özgü çizim sanatıyla çizilmiş kısa/uzun
çizimlerdir. Anime kelimesi İngilizcedeki animation kelimesinin kısaltılmış halidir.
Animeler, genelde mangaların televizyona ya da sinemaya uyarlanmasıdır.
Manga çizimleri animeye göre daha abartılı olur. Anime çizim tekniklerine örnek
verilirse, kendine özgü çizim tekniği vardır, onun dışında insan gözleri genelde
büyük çizilir.
Animeler, el çizimi veya bilgisayar yapımı olabilir. Anime bir çizim
sanatıdır, çizgi dizilerle aynı teknik özelliklere sahip olsa da çizimleri her
yaştan insanlara hitap etmektedir.
