This powerful PowerPoint presentation is made by a graduating student that pushes her study even more because she believe that while doing something she loves, it can be easy for them to study and to strive even more for their studies
2. Learning Objectives:
Explain how different factors affect the climate of
an area. (S9ES-IIIe-30)
Label the parts of the Globe
Locate the three climatic zones
Explain the relationship between latitude and
climate of a certain place and;
Justify why the coldest place on Earth are found
near the Poles.
3.
4. REVIEWING
What comes to your mind when
you hear the word Latitude?
Why do you think Latitude affects
the climate?
5.
6.
7. Latitude is the main factor
affecting global climate. The further
we go from the equator, the
temperature drops and the cooler it
gets. This is because we know that
earth is curved which means earth
gets hotter at equator and places
near the equator.
8.
9. Any area within the Tropic Zone is
within a latitude closest to the
equator, between the Tropic of
Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn.
These areas receive the most direct
sunlight throughout the year and
usually only experience two
seasons: The Wet Season and The
Dry Season.
10. Temperate Zones
The middle latitudes where most
of the planet’s population lives and
are the entire area between the
Tropical Zones and Arctic Zones.
This zone is the only one with all
four seasons: Spring, Summer,
Winter and Fall.
11. POLAR ZONES
The Arctic and Antartica, also known
as the South and North Poles are the
Polar Regions with the coldest
temperature. These regions have the
coldest temperature because they
receive the least direct sunlight.
They’re at the highest latitudes, and
thus they have distinct climates.
12. 5 Major Parallels of Latitudes from North to
South
Arctic Circle
Tropic of Cancer
Equator
Tropic of Capricorn
Antarctic Circle
14. GUIDE QUESTIONS:

found near the Poles?
4. Why are the places with high
temperatures found at the equator?
5. How does latitude affect climate?
