Eye Of The Sea Research Paper
Glistening water, beautiful coral composed of your friendly neighbourhood porifera, but what lays
beyond the cliff of coral into deep, dark waters? PhD student, Erika Raymond, and her PhD advisor,
Edith Widder sent the Eye of the Sea to the Bahamas to observe the unknown waters. A variety of
other scientists came up with their own understandings of deep sea life and how they differ from the
creatures above the waters. One of the characteristics that caught the attention of scientists were the
animals enlarged eyes that adapted to see bioluminescent materials. Scientists can use this information
to improve their technology to help them find and observe in the lab or at least unobtrusively through
a camera deep sea creatures natural ways of living. Scientists are interested in how the different deep
sea species have evolved since the Mesozoic era with very minimal interactions with humans or man
made objects. However, their habitats are too dangerous for humans; I suspect there would not have
been as much evolution as seen in land animals, considering the fact that in 2004, Raymond and
Widder had spotted a 2 metre squid using Eye of the Sea. Could there be other organisms that retain
their size from the dinosaur ages just because there wasn t much of a reason for them to evolve? ...

Scientists were dumbfounded when they discovered that deep sea fish can detect light outside of the
blue green range (short wavelengths of blue green light can travel to farther depths underwater, where
you would be able to detect bioluminescence). With further observations, they found that a species of
bottom dwelling crabs can even detect UV light. In other animals, like the dragonfish, their
searchlights have fluorescent proteins that shift the bluish bioluminescence to the red

Public and Private Sector
Private and public sector management differ only in context, but this difference is significant.
George Boyne in his article Human resource management in the Public and private sectors: An
empirical comparison explains with empirical evidence how even though private and public sector
management differs in service ethos but this difference is significant which impacts the tradition,
culture and practises of both the sectors. Over the past two decades many different interpretations and
perceptions have come into play on the similarities and differences between private and public sector
management.
Public sector management before the 1980s was found to be working more on a Weberian centralized

Baldwin 1991).
The major differences between a private and public management is ownership, funding, public interest
and mode of governance where public organisations are controlled collectively by the members of
political community and depends on the political authority for its activities. This results in the political
forces having a greater impact on the direct power of the public sector organisations. On the other
hand, private organisations are owned by shareholders and entrepreneurs and the controlled or guided
by the current global market forces. Public organizations are funded by taxes paid by citizens whereas
the private companies are funded by customer fees and spending. However, Bozeman (1987) claims
that, all organizations are public because they are all affected by political authority whether they are
public or private. It is the political system that imposes more constraints rather than the economic
system.
Goal is another factor which underlines the distinction between a public and private management. The
understanding of profitability goes a long way with the private companies having the main goal to sell
their products in the market as oppose to public management. As a result, there has been considerable
criticism on the various government agencies for their attempt to bring public management into line
with private management. For example, Stewart and Walsh (1992, p.

The Category of Factor X
Malcolm X, an African American Muslim minster and human rights activist, once said We declare our
right on this earth to be a human being, to be respected as a human being, to be given the rights of a
human being in this society, on this earth, in this day, which we intend to bring into existence by any
means necessary. According to Malcolm X, everyone on the earth has a right to be called a human
being and fit into the category of a human being; no matter if they are young, old, disabled or
incompetent. Yet if we were to look back on our past and cannot seem to count how many times these
so called human beings have treated others who share the same characteristics of human beings as
lesser creatures. It becomes as if in order to have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand Factor X is saying that if we were to get rid of these secondary factorials, we would
be equal, however would it worth being equal by eliminating what makes us special. As we begin to
understand that Factor X is not perfect, we find that there will always be one group of people that
factor X seems to not include, which leads to the thinking are they not human beings that have their
own human rights. More importantly we then have to figure what is considered basic human rights
and how do we considered who gets them or at least who deserves their rights more in certain
situations. Figure 1. A simplify list of human rights created and accepted as an international issue after
the Second World War And for that simple reason are we going to say people who are disabled,
terminally ill or an unborn fetus does not have the right to be included in to factor X or the potential to
have human rights. The question then becomes how are we going to amend Factor X to include this
group of people without excluding another group by accidentally using their political/social rights or
characteristics in society to say that they are not competent enough to posses Factor X. Skin color,
looks , social class and wealth, gender, cultural background, and even one s natural talents are all
accidents of birth relegated to the class of nonessential characteristics (Fukuyama 186). If these so call
secondary characteristics were to be taken away, then

Persuasive Essay On The Power Of Privacy
Technology and the Internet have evolved over the years to the point where it is used daily by millions
of people. As a result, people s privacy are more susceptible to invasion than ever before. Most people
had no reason to question their privacy until the Snowden revelations of 2013 or the celebrity photo
leak in 2014. However, as demonstrated through the documentary The Power of Privacy by the
Guardian, it is very easy to have your personal information stolen or discovered by others. As
technology continues to advance, Our attitudes and the law, haven t caught up yet (The Guardian
1:53). People are not fully aware of their digital footprint or it s effects on their privacy and need to be
educated on how to protect their digital information. This documentary effectively displays the
importance of protecting digital privacy through demonstrating how easy it is to stalk people, lose
control of personal information and even have devices hacked. Individuals need to learn how to
protect their privacy in the online world in order to prevent such actions against them.
As the Internet has grown to become a popular tool, it has also left people s information available to
the world such as their address, email or telephone number. Most people are aware of the risks
involved with posting online and often implement privacy features on social media allowing only
friends and followers to see their information. However, these actions are not enough. An analysis by

Rhetorical Analysis Of George Thoreau s Letter From...
Thoreau and King use many similar strategies in their writings. One uses these strategies to make their
piece more effective. King s persuasive letter to the clergyman, Letter from Birmingham Jail was far
more effective than Thoreau s Lecture On the Duty of Civil Disobedience directed towards americans
ready to change things, and here is why. King s article was more effective because he strives towards
tugging on the audience s heartstrings rather than the logical side, his repetition proved to be more
effective, he has a unique organizational structure, King stays more on topic, and was more passionate
about his disquisition.
King uses pathos in his piece, for starters, while Thoreau uses more of a logical approach. Right off
the bat, in Letter from Birmingham Jail, King writes a lengthy sentence describing the unfortunate
events him and his colored peers go through on a daily basis. King uses pathos in this sentence gaining
more emphasis as the sentence goes on making the audience (who, keep in mind, are clergyman) feel
sympathy towards King and the black community. King uses examples of how the colored are treated
stating, for example, But when you have seen vicious mobs lynch your mothers and fathers at will and
drown your sisters and brothers at whim;[...] (264;Par.14) progressing slowly showing more and more
emphasis on his emotional side of things until he finally says [W]hen you are forever fighting a
degenerating sense of nobodiness then you will

you re actually helping you re immune system out. A two month study done in Taiwan gathered sixty
seven seventh graders and split them up into two groups. (Chang, 2013). One group read and did
homework during study hall while the other group did a forty five minute intervention. In this
intervention, the students were first relaxed by breathing exercises, and then they were, asked to
release bottled up emotions like saying they were afraid or cold (Chang, 2013). After they expressed
their emotions, they laughed for two to three minutes. It was seen that after this experiment, the
experimental group had lowered their levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, while the control group s
cortisol levels had stayed the same. (Chang, 2013). This is wonderful because according to the Mayo
Clinic Staff (2011), the overexposure to cortisol can lead to weight gain, digestive problems, heart

The Neo Classical Model Of Economics
MONETARISM The 1930 s saw the neo classical model of economics, championed by Walras and
Mengers, crumble as rates of unemployment rose exponentially on a global scale. In the midst of this
economic crisis Keynes offered solution to the crisis in his 1936 General theory of Employment,
Interests and Money . He successfully argued that the state was alone capable of steering the economy
to produce social stability and social justice (Valentine, 2003) Thus the post war consensus was
formed and consequentially the centre ground of politics redefined, Keynesianism socialist model
would hold sway for the quarter century following World War II. The decade of the 1970s was
characterized by high and rising inflation and slow economic growth (Jahan and Papageorgiou, 2014).
Keynesianism couldn t answer the soaring inflation, Hayek, who warned Keynesianism was a road to
serfdom (The Economist, 2013) and Friedman s neoliberal model could and Thatcher recognised this.
The essential economic task of Thatcher was the desertion of Keynesian macro economics (Valentine,
2013). The result was an adoption of Monetarism, a belief in controlling the money supply as a means
of controlling inflation (Viven, 2003). The 1970 s economy was corroded to the breaking point due to
the clout of the unions. Edward Heaths Conservative government was plagued by continuous strikes
that led to the declaration of the three day working week. Inflation was rising as high as 24%, with one

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The foundation of life and purpose is to find the Why in you.
The Why in you is purpose, knowing Who you are and
Why you are here is the meaning of life.
Sadness and tragedies come to pass, the eternal question of life is Why.
What am I doing here? What does all this mean?
To find yourself is the very reason you re born.
The wonder and glory of life is the birth of purpose.
There is no one separate from yourself.

Though painstaking at times, the joyous satisfaction that is attained when each of these challenges are
met with innovative solutions has no words to explain and has thus been the prime reason for me to
take up my undergraduation in Chemical Engineering. Throughout my four years of undergraduate
study at this institute, I was amazed at the real flamboyance and the sheer versatility of this discipline
and this resulted in motivating me to work hard with dedication to secure a place in the top 10% of the
Chemical Engineering Department with a CGPA of 8.53/10. The demanding undergraduate program at
A.C.Tech, Anna University has helped me to achieve a strong background in core Chemical
Engineering areas like Fluid Mechanics, Mass Transfer, Thermodynamics, Chemical Reaction
Engineering and Process Calculations and has also made me to understand the utmost significance of
simulating various chemical reactions and systems in the field of Chemical Engineering. As days
passed by, love for the field has only increased within me, as this Chemical Engineering discipline is
one which is ever evolving with new ideas and challenges. Being a person with full of self belief,

Individual Programmatic Assessment: Exploring a Classic Study in Social Psychology
Social psychology first examined the phenomena later termed bystander effect in response to a 1964
murder. The murder of a young woman with as many as 38 witnesses and none who helped until it
was too late. The bystander effect is individuals seeing an emergency situation but not helping. There
are many reasons why individuals do not respond: diffusion of responsibility, not noticing or unsure if
it is an emergency, and not wanting to be liable if the person still dies are a few.
The Study ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Implications and Situationism The study by Darley and Latane leaves society with the knowledge that
everyone who is witnessing an emergency is most likely thinking the same thing someone else will
call for help or has already so Always act as if you are the only person there (Darely Latane, 1968).
The concept of situationism is the driving force behind bystander effect. Situationism is social
behavior is, to a larger extent than people commonly realize, a response to people s social context, not
a function of individual personality (Fiske, 2010, p. 7). Individuals first have to decide if they are
witnessing an emergency. Then they need to decide if they have a responsibility to act which is when
situationism comes in. If there are hundreds of witnesses each individual see the situation from a
different perspective and responsibility to act is diffused among the crowd. On the other hand if one
individual sees an emergency and believes there is no one else to help the responsibility rests on him
or her. The context of the situation will determine how an individual will react, but people should
consider the reality of everyone believing someone else will react and no one reacting. Kitty Genovese
would still be alive if even one person would have called the cops when the first attack started.

bandana at the age of four, she had decided that this was her lucky bandana. In April of 2014, she was
auditioning for her first of three auditions for orchestras. She planned on auditioning for California
Youth Symphony, El Camino Youth Symphony, and San Jose Youth Symphony. She disobeyed her
mother and snuck the bandana into her pocket, making sure it was not seen and that it was easily

Gerald L. Shargel claims that [He] will walk under ladders. [He] will let black cats pass in front of

they made some money, and it also makes Shargel happy that he is conducting his superstition.
Shargel uses this superstition because trials are never the same. With all the new people and new

clear his trial of any grip that superstitions have on his mind. By contradicting superstitions, he feels
that the bad energy they contain has no effect on his trials and that the trials will

Why I Want To Have Walter Mitty
James Thurber wrote The Secret Life of Walter Mitty which made Walter Mitty look like a complete
fool headed. There are multitudinous reasons why you would not want to have the character Walter
Mitty as company for dinner. Walter has this monotonous job, for example he never socializes well
with others. He gets lost really easy on things that normal people never get lost with. He is not
someone you would like to be around with. Walter is also just a boring person in general, with a
boring job and with a boring life. So without doubt I would not want to have Walter Mitty as a dinner
companion, because he is just not a very pleasant person to be around with in any type of activity.
Unfortunately, Walter Mitty does not socialize well with people around town. Since he does not
socialize well with anyone how would you expect a conversation? You would be getting to the point
that you do not want to find out about him and just be talking about the weather. You would not be
having an enjoyable conversation you would have with your companions. There would be just an
awkward silence while you were eating. He would not want to have any way of talking to you. Walter

the room trying to find out how he can daydream and make his life more interesting. You also never

Abstract:
Sudden cardiac death (SCD) is major public health problem. SCD continues to be one of the leading
causes of mortality worldwide, with an annual incidence estimated at 250000 to 300000 in the United
States and with the vast majority occurring in the setting of coronary disease and other cardiac events.
I performed the systematic review of journal article ranging from 2006 to 2016 with appropriate
information related to sudden cardiac death and related consequences, the context of problem and
related solution. SCD is so immediate that detailed study should be performed to understand and to
review in better depth with screening evaluation and permanent treatment.
Objective is to summarize published sudden cardiac death information literature and article with valid
information and to understand extend of issue with available options for solution.
Conclusion: The sudden cardiac death is tragic event to happen. Many research had been published
and new content comes nearly every year, but existing research related to it is weak. Future research
efforts should be directed for developing new policy changes and social aspect of this situation. The

and social responsibility.
Introduction to the company:
Volkswagen group, has been regarded as the world s largest automobile industry and for right reasons.
The company has 12 big brand names under its name, them being: Volkswagen passenger cars, Audi,
Porsche, Skoda, SEAT, MAN, Scania, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Ducati, Lambhorghini,
Bentley and Bugatti. It is headquartered in Wolfsburg, Germany with its manufacturing plants

Technology:
On the technological front, we recommend that Volkswagen should develop sensors which could
effectively determine the emission levels. For example, Oxygen sensors are a standard equipment on
passenger cars and light truck engines.
They should develop new ultra sensitive sensors that will detect the car s speed and according adjust
the system to reduce the fuel consumption. This will lead to the reduction in the carbon footprints left
by the cars manufactured by the company. Volkswagen should also make changes to its existing diesel
engine technology .
These strategies are in line with the UN goal 9 Industry, Innovation Infrastructure.
3. Operations:
We advice Volkswagen to consider and incorporate some of the manufacturing style used by Toyota
Co. as per the operation environment of Volkswagen:
Kaizen: Volkswagen should consider the process of continuous improvement with all the tasks
involved being precisely defined and standardized.
Jidoka: Will help in designing equipment and processes to stop and call attention to problems
immediately when they sense a problem is a central concept of Volkswagen.
These strategies are in line with the UN goal 12 Responsible Consumption and Production.

Two Faced Characters: The Moonstone
Mystery is the key for interesting characters and therefore an interesting story. The Moonstone, a
novel written by Wilkie Collins, follows the mystery of an ancient Indian diamond, known as the
Moonstone. The Moonstone has made its way into the Verinder House on the night of Rachel Verinder
s eighteenth birthday, and the trouble starts from there. Rachel Verinder and Franklin Blake are two
characters who migrate between being seen as the roles of victims and villains, therefore building up
the mystery and suspense displayed throughout the work. Rachel Verinder is a very unique teenager.

Franklin Blake was a very confusing character for he had his French side, and his German side, and
his Italian side and so forth (Collins 47). His character could fluctuate from being a model of
determination and a spectacle of helplessness in a matter of seconds (Collins 47). He and Rachel were
in love, yet later in the novel they could not bear to look at one another, leaving the reader (and other
characters in the book) to infer that the Moonstone was behind their bickering. There were times when
Mr. Blake was innocent, and others when he appeared guilty. For example, Franklin Blake was
actually seen by Rachel, taking the Indian diamond out from her cabinet in the middle of the night.
You villain, I saw you take the Diamond with my own eyes! Rachel had yelled at Franklin later in the
story. But, the plot twist was that Mr. Blake could remember nothing of taking the diamond. With the
later help of Ezra Jennings, who cleared Franklin Blake of accusations by proving that Franklin took
the Diamond, in a state of trance, produced by opium which had been secretly administered to Blake
by Mr. Candy, an opinionated doctor whom simply wished to prove a point (Collins 354). But there
was still the mystery as to what happened after Franklin Blake took the Diamond up to his room. But

Institutional versus Legislative Policies in Health Care Merriam Webster s dictionary online defines an
institution as a place where an organization takes care of people for a usually long period of time
(n.d.). Thus, an institutional policy is a set of standards established by the institution that governs the
practices and procedures of the organization as it relates to its operations. Legislative policies in health
care are developed in the Legislative Branch of the Federal Government. It is mandatory for all health
care organizations to adhere to legislative policies; however, many institutional policies have a basis
of development within the legislative policies to ensure compliance for their organization. While
legislative policies are broad in nature to encompass various specialty areas in the health care industry,
institutional policies are more specific to the institutions goals and services provided within the
community.
Influence of Politics on Health Care Regulations, Laws, and Policies According to Bambra, Fox, and
Scott Samuel (2005), the health of every individual is affected by environmental factors such as
employment, income, and housing. Rules and regulations regarding environmental factors have
typically required governmental intervention to ensure that each factor is approached fairly; without

Life Of A Multi Sport Athlete
There is a time in the life of a busy multi sport athlete (and especially the longer, time constrained,

can only support high volume training, proper performance, and immune system strength for a limited

Essay about We Wear the Mask
Paul Laurence Dunbar, dispatches the cold troubles of African Americans in the lyrical poem, We
Wear the Mask. In this poem, Dunbar links imagery, rhythm, rhyme, and word choice to in order to
institute a connection to the reader. From reading the poem, one can infer that Mr. Dunbar is speaking
in general, of the misery that many people keep concealed under a grin that they wear very well. But if
one were to go further and take the time to research Mr. Dunbar s selection of this piece and the era of
which this poem was written, one would come to understand that this poem focuses entirely on Paul
Laurence Dunbar s viewpoints on racial prejudice and the struggle for equality for the African
American s of his time period. Though this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since it does, when reading each line, there is a resilient connection that allows the reader to put
together and feel for what the narrator is speaking of. As each line is metrically linked, the words are
further recited in a durable voice and the poem is virtually put together, musically. In the first and
second lines of the third stanza, an apostrophe, a figure of speech that directly addresses an absent
person or entity, is presented, We smile, but O great Christ, our cries to thee from tortured souls arise.
Alliteration and metaphors are two major elements of this poem. The repetition of consonant sounds
and alliteration occurs throughout the poem. All of the lines strongly use the repetition of consonants
and alliteration except for lines two and seven. In addition to that, the controlling figure of speech in
this poem is a metaphor. It is strongly articulated in the first line, and as the one continues to read, it is
amplified and extended throughout the rest of the poem. The metaphor compares mask of Line 1 to the
fabricated emotive facades that African Americans had made use of in order to avert provoking their
oppressors.
Ultimately, since Dunbar avoids specifically mentioning blacks and their suffering, with the history of
this poem in mind, this poem could stand as a lament on behalf of all of the individuals who were
forcefully made to wear a mask just as a girl who tries to hide her pregnancy from her parents, or as a
boy who

Essay On Lower House Of Government
The United States and France are two countries with similar ways of electing the lower house of
government. Both countries are divided into districts with single member representation. However, the
United States uses a majority system, first past the post, while France uses a majority plurality, two
round system. With each system there are separate advantages and disadvantages. Nonetheless, the
first past the post system used in the United States is more efficient, cost effective, and
comprehendible to the average person. The United States of America elects the lower house of
government using simple majority. This system can also be described as a plurality, or first past the
post. The United States is divided into 435 different districts by population, with one individual
representing each constituency. Members of the House of Representatives, the lower house of
government in the United States, are elected every two years. (Parline Database, 2016) The methods
by which candidates are brought to the ballot vary by state. However, most states use a partisan
primary to bring candidates to the final ballot. For example, Washington State uses the top two method
to bring candidates to the ballot. Under this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Under plurality, the individual who receives the most votes receives the seat in the House of
Representatives. The individual may not always receive the majority of votes because more than two
individuals may receive votes. This leads to wasted votes in that everyone who voted for the losing
candidate does not have their vote represented. In addition, more seats may be given to a political
party than votes received. If a political party receives a plurality of votes with thirty percent
nationwide, they may be the new majority party but seventy percent of the country still voted for
somebody else. (Hoard,

How To Write A Book Report On The Catcher In The Rye
Catcher in the Rye Catcher in the rye is an interesting book that grabs my attention because you don t

feelings, later he gets all disrespectful and mean. He harbors hatred of the word or term phonies which
he believes everyone is guilty of except for his dead brother Allie, phoebe and his mother. At first,
when I started reading the book catcher in the rye I found it a bit boring but once I got to the part of
the fight between him and his room buddy, I got more interested in the book because there were so
many things that made it worth reading. In the process of reading, I found out that Holden is afraid of
change in his life because he doesn t like it and he wants to have fun and not become an adult. This
play a huge part part in the book because when all adults tries to give him advice, he didn t listen, he
just ignore them which landed him into many troubles. Holden is the main character, he is a 17 years
old boy who got kicked out of Pencey prep college as a result of his actions. He doesn t like school

Railroad Car Advantages And Disadvantages
STRENGTHS
Competitive advantage. The concept of hauling over a hundred railcars with as little as two crew
members allows for a distinct advantage over the trucking industry with regards to fuel and labor
costs.
Space. A large quantity of railcars can be stored in a small area due to track design and the fact that
cars are coupled together in a straight row.
Maintenance costs. While this can also be a weakness, the longevity of assets is typically more than in
other industries. Locomotives can last for 30 40 years with routine maintenance.
Shared Resources. Although railroads compete for business, they also share assets such as
locomotives, trackage rights, and coordinating the labor workforce.

Offered And Bewildered Summary
The text, Bothered and Bewildered by Katha Pollitt started from the statistical data about unwed
mothers and developed to the discussion of marriage and social discrimination between male and
female.
The author mentions the percentage who have become mothers without marrying has more than
doubled in the last decade, and public criticize the Feminism, promiscuity, the media, the 60 s for this
increase. However, the author asks us to consider if marriage no longer serves woman very well.
Historically, women wed men to gain money and stable social status, yet in the 1990s , during which
this article was wrote, women are getting the right to earn money themselves, thus they are able to be
independence from men. Furthermore, by revealing the feeble purpose beneath the discussion about
unwed mother by the public, asking woman to self sacrifice, the author shows us that the best method
in helping unwed mothers is treat two sexes equally so that they will both have the ability to be
independence. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Effect Of Lynching In The 1920 s
Lynching was a terrible epidemic during the 1920 s and 30 s. Lynching is (of a Mob) kill ( someone),

African Americans with the KKK being around. It was a problem for everyone really if anyone had a
problem with you they could basically punish you. Instead of going to a trail and getting a fair

punishment in the 1920 s and 30 s. It was a majorly flawed system of punishment. It could be done
without any sort of trails. They KKK made it really bad for African Americans because they were
trying to use it as a way to abolish African Americans along with Caucasian people. It involved
hanging, whipping and other more common ways of punishment. Sometimes people would be tied up

which means that often people were killed by government authority. That would show major flaws in

Movement of the deltoid begins in the cerebrum of the brain, but more specifically: in the frontal lobe,
the premotor cortex is relaying instructions to the primary motor cortex. The primary motor cortex
contains the upper motor neurons whose axons will travel down the pyramids of the medulla
oblongata and synapse on lower motor neurons in the anterior gray horns of spinal cord segments C5

which splits into two divisions. We will follow the posterior division that supplies to extensor muscles.
This posterior division then runs into the posterior cord from which the axillary nerve is derived. The
axillary nerve s motor end innervates the deltoid through its neuromuscular junction.

was available for replacement therapy until around 1985 when it was understood that a significant
number of children treated with cadaver obtained hGH died because of Creutzfeldt Jakob disease.
Since 1985, drug manufacturers are using engineered bacteria to make recombinant human growth
hormone (rhGH) with a higher purity but several short term side effects.
Although these side effects are monitored, evaluated and controlled, the long term side effects such as
oncogenic effect remains the main concern and uncertain. While during the past decades, drug

Are children s life in risk for an inch or two?
Background
Since 1984 when the first treatment with rhGH was started until today, short term safety of rgHG
replacement therapy is evaluated based on large groups of patients. The height gains results of the
hormone on children with severe GH deficiency is generally satisfactory. However, in children with
short stature due to other reasons, the height gains and changes in the quality of life is poorly
evaluated and its clinical significance is also under controversy. Furthermore, the long term effect on
neither of the groups has ever been evaluated and this is while the signals of oncogenic side effect
such as the appearance of Leukemia or other cancers in European countries are worrying and
questioning the safety of synthetic recombinant human growth hormone.
The aims of SAGhE study are to investigate long term mortality and morbidity in near 30,000 young
European adults who have been treated in childhood with rhGH. SAGhE will also include young
adults height and quality of life evaluations in the research plan to determine how much benefit these
young adults have been gained by this hormone therapy. This is especially very important because
after all, the main reason that families and parents submit their children to growth hormone therapy is
to gain height and improve their quality of life. The SAGhE study can help these parents to compare
the results with the long term side risks and make the

Harvard Business School Invented The Concept And Believed
Harvard Business School invented the concept and believed that competitive advantage cannot be
understood by looking at a firm as a whole. The disadvantages of a value chain could include a
company becoming too segmented and result in a construed conception of the company s most
important values. Thus, the importance of a successful value chain lies within the linkage of the
different processes it incorporates. All in all, the value chain can provide organizations a strategic

The annual bottom lines of the company continuously fluctuate and significant improvements have
been hard to achieve without significant changes to specific processes respective to each facility. Like
that of any large organization, company wide policies make opportunities for change extremely
difficult for any specific department or process. As Porter noted, competitive advantage cannot be
understood by looking at the firm as a whole and Schott has yet to fully adopt this logic. Much like a
waterfall effect, decisions and orders are trickled down throughout the organization based on an
employee s position of power. The company has incorporated a system that rewards diligence opposed
to innovative thinking which can lead to a very limited approach to reaching new achievements for the
company overall. Schott cannot make significant improvements by incorporating broad changes
throughout the organization. Each department within each facility needs to be treated more as a
separate, individual entity that can utilize its respective strengths. Schott s North American facility has

Personal Narrative-Haunted
Haunted
Today marks the four year anniversary of my brother s suicide, and once again I am haunted.
Haunted by the last conversation I had with Mike the weekend before he died. He was panicked and
overwhelmed over some issues with his job and with his landlord. He was being kind of a drama
queen, his stress way out of proportion to the problems he was facing. I wasn t worried because I
knew things would work out one way or another. I had no idea he was teetering on the edge of sanity.
Only in hindsight can we identify the warning signs we didn t notice at the time.
Haunted by the voicemail messages he left for my daughter Dolly two nights before he died. He said
he d been having a hard time and thought hearing her voice might cheer him up. In reality, he had

them again and again, at any time or place, or at any man s desire: for the devil is as strong at one time

The first time The Tempest was performed was in front of James VI and his court. This performance
has significance because it already creates a connection between James VI and The Tempest. This also
showed that Shakespeare was willing to have his play performed, where there the protagonist was
royalty that recreationally used magic, in front of someone who was known for having people accused
and killed for witchcraft. Since Shakespeare was usually commissioned by royals to write his plays
and was an English citizen, he more than likely had an inkling that the play would first be performed
for James VI s court. This is not the only coincidence that proves Shakespeare based The Tempest, if
only partly, off of James VI and his crimes against his own citizens. The first performance of the play
was actually presented as a part of James VI s daughter s wedding ceremonies. It was performed at
court during the marriage celebrations of James I s daughter Elizabeth, the future Winter Queen of
Bohemia, in 1613 (Cavendish). This is significance is in the fact that the two main characters in the
play are an exiled king and his daughter. More than coincidently, Shakespeare s main characters were
a father daughter duo. The Tempest was also one of Shakespeare s comedies in that it involved little to
no death and ended with a marriage (in this play s case an engagement). The choice of a comedy that
ended in an engagement for James VI s daughter s wedding ceremony proves that Shakespeare had
more reason for choosing the play to perform to James VI than simply deciding to perform it because
it was his latest creation. Shakespeare made a statement by performing The Tempest before a paranoid
ruler who had ordered the murder of at least

Reflection Paper On Babies
BIOL2299 Making Better Babies Reflection Paper
Tram Anh Ngoc Nguyen. NU ID: 001884300
The panel of PBS program Making Better Babies focused greatly on genetic testing in relation to its
scientific and social effects. There were many opposing ideas and concerns coming from different
perspectives such as those of expecting parents, genetic counselor, scientists and genetic disease
sufferers. Coming from Vietnam where technology is more limited, I have learned multiple new
concepts from the arguments made on the show, many of which surprised me.
First I learned the possible risks of establishing a society of Designer babies . According to Oxford
English Dictionary, a designer baby is defined as a baby whose genetic make up has been selected in
order to eradicate a particular defect or to ensure that a particular gene is present (1). As discussed in
the perfect pitch example of moderator John Hockenberry, science will be hypothetically capable of
selecting favorable genetic traits to create a baby to the parents preferences. Parents not only can avoid
genetic abnormalities such as an extra chromosome leading to Down syndrome, but they can also
choose specific alleles for genetic enhancement. This can range from selecting the baby s gender to his
or her hair color. However, The Guardian s The Case for Genetically Engineered Babies addresses
gene editing as harmful to children and damaging to the gene pool. This is because artificial selected
traits may be considered favorable in one generation but not the next (2). In addition, this will all lead
to a society that devalues diversity. Diversity is important in all species because it equips individuals
to meet environmental changes and demands. Decreasing diversity is said to be unethical since it
decreases the survivability of populations (3). Furthermore, a gap in society will be created between
normal babies and designer babies. There will be a greater stigma towards those who suffer from
genetic mutations such as Huntington disease or Dwarfism hence their physical abnormalities are also
accompanied by negative social pressure.
Secondly, the movie also gave me an insight into a parent s perspective and the advantages of genetic

Why Is Okonkwo So Cruel
Okonkwo was well known throughout his village and beyond for his fame which rested on personal
achievements. He was a tempered man and couldn t get his words out quick enough, and so, he would
use his fists. His wives, especially the youngest, lived in fear of his fiery temper, and sometimes he
would beat them. Why was Okonkwo so violent and cruel? This was because of his lazy, craven
father, who wasted his life away, and died a failure. Okonkwo however, was clearly cut out for great
things. He had fame for being the greatest wrestler in the nine villages, was a wealthy farmer, and had
already married his third wife. However, Okonkwo s life was dominated by the fear of failure and
weakness, and it caused him to make drastic and heartbreaking decisions.
Okonkwo was not afraid of hard work; he was a man of action. ... Show more content on

This filled Okonkwo with fury and he claimed that Nwoye was no longer his son. Now he was driven
to destroy these white men who took his son from him as well as many other people from his village.
After a while, some of the villagers attacked the church the white men had built and burnt it to the
ground. This made Okonkwo almost happy again, even though he had suggested to kill them.
Two days went by and nothing else had happened. Okonkwo and some men went to the commissioner
to discuss the situation, and instead, they were handcuffed and put into prison. This puts even more
fury and hate into Okonkwo and he thirsts for blood. He wanted to kill every white man in his village,
because they have taken everything away from him.
Once they paid the fine and were released from the prison, Okonkwo s fury leads him to behead an
innocent villager, and he then headed home, still filled with hate. He felt like he had lost everything,
his village, success, sons. He felt out of control and weak, like a failure. What he feared that he would
be. He couldn t handle it any more and so, Okonkwo made the decision to hang

The Religious Life Of Theological Students
Winsomely presented, B.B. Warfield is well known for his scholarship with no exception seen here, In
The Religious Life of Theological Students. Here as seminary students, we must chiefly be Godly
men, apt to teach with the added passion of devotion driven by our love of God. As a result of our love
for God, we are encouraged to have in our vocation a devotion with zeal and piety. We are to be as
Warfield puts it; God made, meaning a minister is called, shaped and developed divinely by God s
decree and power thereby being made worthy through the process of God s call upon their life.
Warnings against pitfalls As religious men, we should avoid the peril of becoming so engrossed in our
theological studies that we neglect our personal devotion. Warfield s caveat to us is Christian service
or work alone cannot replace the depth of Christian affection to God. Work does not equal prayer it is
the combination of work and prayer that will develop as ministers. By maintaining a strong devotion
to God we are setting an example of holding fast to the confession of our hope. We must frequently
examine ourselves against God s Word to verify our hearts. It is as Warfield says, we should have our
hearts on fire brightly so that in our innermost being we are men of God. The greatness of our calling
as ministers should flow from the depth of our understanding of the unsurpassed greatness of God.
This understanding should motivate, empower, equip and direct us in our

Introduction
Markets differ in a variety of ways including the degree of concentration and competitiveness, a fact
which is reflected in the concept of market structure . Economists models link the structural
characteristics of a market to the behaviour of firms in that market and subsequently to their
performance. A key question therefore is how far a firm s strategic decisions are shaped by the
structure of the market in which it operates.
You are required to undertake a detailed examination of the changing nature of the long haul
transatlantic airline market. The market you are required to investigate comprises only the

He lambasted British Airways and Virgin for fleecing passengers for too long as he and his brother
Hugh unveiled a route from London to New York for just £129 each way.
With two hot meals, designated seating and premium upgrades, it aimed to change long haul air travel
and make Scotland a powerhouse in global aviation. A stock market flotation was mooted, valuing the
airline at up to £100m, while its summer flight schedule was spectacularly upgraded, offering 40%
more seats across the Atlantic.
Not since the days of Sir Freddie Laker s Skytrain in the late 1970s had the established transatlantic
carriers faced such a threat. Back then, despite huge support from the public and the Prime Minister, it
took five years and an aggressive price dropping exercise for the competition to drive Laker out. But
while British Airways, Pan Am, TWA and Lufthansa were said to have met to plot Laker s downfall,
with Zoom they didn t have to: a soaring fuel bill did it for them.
As with other transatlantic carries such as MaxJet, Eos and Silverjet, Zoom s problems lay primarily
with the price of oil, which last year added more than £27m to Zoom s fuel bill.
A combination of soaring oil prices, poor sales and a weak economy has precipitated the worst crisis

  • 2. Eye Of The Sea Research Paper Glistening water, beautiful coral composed of your friendly neighbourhood porifera, but what lays beyond the cliff of coral into deep, dark waters? PhD student, Erika Raymond, and her PhD advisor, Edith Widder sent the Eye of the Sea to the Bahamas to observe the unknown waters. A variety of other scientists came up with their own understandings of deep sea life and how they differ from the creatures above the waters. One of the characteristics that caught the attention of scientists were the animals enlarged eyes that adapted to see bioluminescent materials. Scientists can use this information to improve their technology to help them find and observe in the lab or at least unobtrusively through a camera deep sea creatures natural ways of living. Scientists are interested in how the different deep sea species have evolved since the Mesozoic era with very minimal interactions with humans or man made objects. The major differences between a private and public management is ownership, funding, public interest and mode of governance where public organisations are controlled collectively by the members of political community and depends on the political authority for its activities. This results in the political forces having a greater impact on the direct power of the public sector organisations. On the other hand, private organisations are owned by shareholders and entrepreneurs and the controlled or guided by the current global market forces. Public organizations are funded by taxes paid by citizens whereas the private companies are funded by customer fees and spending. However, Bozeman (1987) claims that, all organizations are public because they are all affected by political authority whether they are public or private. It is the political system that imposes more constraints rather than the economic system. Goal is another factor which underlines the distinction between a public and private management. The understanding of profitability goes a long way with the private companies having the main goal to sell their products in the market as oppose to public management. • 6. Rhetorical Analysis Of George Thoreau s Letter From... Thoreau and King use many similar strategies in their writings. One uses these strategies to make their piece more effective. King s persuasive letter to the clergyman, Letter from Birmingham Jail was far more effective than Thoreau s Lecture On the Duty of Civil Disobedience directed towards americans ready to change things, and here is why. King s article was more effective because he strives towards tugging on the audience s heartstrings rather than the logical side, his repetition proved to be more effective, he has a unique organizational structure, King stays more on topic, and was more passionate about his disquisition. King uses pathos in his piece, for starters, while Thoreau uses more of a logical approach. Right off the bat, in Letter from Birmingham Jail, King writes a lengthy sentence describing the unfortunate events him and his colored peers go through on a daily basis. King uses pathos in this sentence gaining more emphasis as the sentence goes on making the audience (who, keep in mind, are clergyman) feel sympathy towards King and the black community. King uses examples of how the colored are treated stating, for example, But when you have seen vicious mobs lynch your mothers and fathers at will and drown your sisters and brothers at whim;[...] (264;Par.14) progressing slowly showing more and more emphasis on his emotional side of things until he finally says [W]hen you are forever fighting a degenerating sense of nobodiness then you will ... Implications and Situationism The study by Darley and Latane leaves society with the knowledge that everyone who is witnessing an emergency is most likely thinking the same thing someone else will call for help or has already so Always act as if you are the only person there (Darely Latane, 1968). The concept of situationism is the driving force behind bystander effect. Situationism is social behavior is, to a larger extent than people commonly realize, a response to people s social context, not a function of individual personality (Fiske, 2010, p. 7). Individuals first have to decide if they are witnessing an emergency. Then they need to decide if they have a responsibility to act which is when situationism comes in. If there are hundreds of witnesses each individual see the situation from a different perspective and responsibility to act is diffused among the crowd. On the other hand if one individual sees an emergency and believes there is no one else to help the responsibility rests on him or her. The context of the situation will determine how an individual will react, but people should consider the reality of everyone believing someone else will react and no one reacting. Holden is full of mystery, one minute he is all expressive about his feelings, later he gets all disrespectful and mean. He harbors hatred of the word or term phonies which he believes everyone is guilty of except for his dead brother Allie, phoebe and his mother. At first, when I started reading the book catcher in the rye I found it a bit boring but once I got to the part of the fight between him and his room buddy, I got more interested in the book because there were so many things that made it worth reading. The concept of hauling over a hundred railcars with as little as two crew members allows for a distinct advantage over the trucking industry with regards to fuel and labor costs. Space. This performance has significance because it already creates a connection between James VI and The Tempest. This also showed that Shakespeare was willing to have his play performed, where there the protagonist was royalty that recreationally used magic, in front of someone who was known for having people accused and killed for witchcraft. Since Shakespeare was usually commissioned by royals to write his plays and was an English citizen, he more than likely had an inkling that the play would first be performed for James VI s court. This is not the only coincidence that proves Shakespeare based The Tempest, if only partly, off of James VI and his crimes against his own citizens. The first performance of the play was actually presented as a part of James VI s daughter s wedding ceremonies. It was performed at court during the marriage celebrations of James I s daughter Elizabeth, the future Winter Queen of Bohemia, in 1613 (Cavendish). This is significance is in the fact that the two main characters in the play are an exiled king and his daughter. More than coincidently, Shakespeare s main characters were a father daughter duo. The Tempest was also one of Shakespeare s comedies in that it involved little to no death and ended with a marriage (in this play s case an engagement). The choice of a comedy that ended in an engagement for James VI s daughter s wedding ceremony proves that Shakespeare had more reason for choosing the play to perform to James VI than simply deciding to perform it because it was his latest creation. NU ID: 001884300 The panel of PBS program Making Better Babies focused greatly on genetic testing in relation to its scientific and social effects. There were many opposing ideas and concerns coming from different perspectives such as those of expecting parents, genetic counselor, scientists and genetic disease sufferers. Coming from Vietnam where technology is more limited, I have learned multiple new concepts from the arguments made on the show, many of which surprised me. First I learned the possible risks of establishing a society of Designer babies . According to Oxford English Dictionary, a designer baby is defined as a baby whose genetic make up has been selected in order to eradicate a particular defect or to ensure that a particular gene is present (1). As discussed in the perfect pitch example of moderator John Hockenberry, science will be hypothetically capable of selecting favorable genetic traits to create a baby to the parents preferences. Parents not only can avoid genetic abnormalities such as an extra chromosome leading to Down syndrome, but they can also choose specific alleles for genetic enhancement. This can range from selecting the baby s gender to his or her hair color. However, The Guardian s The Case for Genetically Engineered Babies addresses gene editing as harmful to children and damaging to the gene pool. This is because artificial selected traits may be considered favorable in one generation but not the next (2). In addition, this will all lead to a society that devalues diversity. Diversity is important in all species because it equips individuals to meet environmental changes and demands. Decreasing diversity is said to be unethical since it decreases the survivability of populations (3). Furthermore, a gap in society will be created between normal babies and designer babies. There will be a greater stigma towards those who suffer from genetic mutations such as Huntington disease or Dwarfism hence their physical abnormalities are also accompanied by negative social pressure. Secondly, the movie also gave me an insight into a parent s perspective and the advantages of genetic testing. If I was an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
