2. INTRODUCTION
According to WHO, 20 – 30% of the Nigerian of the
populace are suffering from mental health disorders,
which is a lot considering our population.
Depression and anxiety disorders are among the most
common mental health issues in Nigeria.
3. PROBLEM STATEMENT
• In Nigeria, mental health concerns are often overshadowed by other
public health concerns, despite their critical impact on individuals and
society. Widespread unawareness prevails due to the dual challenges
of societal stigma and the lack of public data. This lack of awareness
makes it hard for people to get help when they need it, and it also
makes mental health issues seem like something to be ashamed of.
This not only hurts people's well-being but also slows down the
progress of our society.
4. IDENTIFIED PROBLEMS
Most Nigerians lack
awareness about the
state of their mental
health; whether they are
mentally sound, or in
need of therapy.
If they are aware at
all, many still don't
know the type of
mental illness they
have.
The lack of data hinders
sufficient research that
could be geared towards
helping those with mental
health issues, and even
those who are on the
verge of suffering from it.
