Romania suspended in-person courses in schools and universities from March 11-22 due to the coronavirus outbreak. The Ministry of Education encouraged online learning and provided free access to tools like Google Suite and Microsoft Office. Universities also suspended in-person classes and supported online learning. Romania was prepared with online learning infrastructure and experience from previous open education projects. The Ministry of Education and other organizations provided online textbooks, tele-school programs, customized learning management systems, webinars and open educational resources to support remote learning during this time. Universities like West University of Timisoara began moving classes online on March 11 and provided students with resources through platforms like Moodle, Edmodo and Google Classroom to continue their education remotely.
