Miraj Hammam Spa
Introduction Before starting any design process, the designer must consider doing a research and a
case study. Research is considered important for designers because it helps them highlight the key
elements and principles of design that are effective and helps them examine designs for holes or
mistakes. This allows the designer to learn from other designers mistakes and learn new effective
ideas. Case study is a great method of research that allows the designers to experience and visualize
the spaces, and helps them learn from other designers' experiences and previous designs as well as
what they chose for the space layout, materials, lighting and the like. Local and international spas
are the two designs that are to be examined and studied ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(11) Brand: Designers need to consider the appearance of the entrance of the space design. It must
be attractive, inventing and interesting to grab the guests' attention to the space. (10) The
atmosphere of the spa begins on the exterior. Upon first arriving at the spa, the branding becomes
evident. The Turkish, Moroccan style is brought by how the designers have indicated materials from
the exterior to the interior. Inside the spa, the use of branding can be seen in every single element in
the spa, from material choice, colour selection and lighting to the décor elements. The menu also
incorporates the Turkish, Moroccan style and the brand. The Miraj Hammam Spa is a modern spa
that has an old tradition Turkish, Moroccan style, but using French products Caudalie. Caudalie is

Guilty Betrayal in Arthur Koestler's Darkness at Noon
Arthur Koestler's Darkness at Noon depicts the fallacious logic of a totalitarian regime through the
experiences of Nicolas Salmanovitch Rubashov. Rubashov had fought in the revolution and was
once part of the Central Committee of the Party, but he is arrested on charges of instigating
attempted assassinations of No. 1, and for taking part in oppositional, counter–revolutionary
activities, and is sent to a Soviet prison. Rubashov, in his idle pacing throughout his cell, recollects
his past with the Party. He begins to feel impulses of guilt, most especially in those moments he was
required to expel devoted revolutionaries from the Party, sending them to their death. These ... Show

It is not until after he has spent some time in his cell pondering the grammatical fiction that he
associates his toothache with these guilty dealings of his past. After reminiscing of his meeting with
Richard, Rubashov dreams that "Richard and the old taxi–driver [are] pursuing him, because they
felt themselves cheated and betrayed by him. I will pay my fare, he [thinks] with an awkward smile"
(42). Rubashov does indeed betray Richard's trust and faith in the Party by expelling him. For the
taxi driver, Rubashov is guilty of letting him believe in the virtue of the Party, along with a supposed
friendship with Richard. Rubashov has silently affirmed the necessity of his expulsion of Richard.
He does not consciously associate this dream with guilt, and thus he inadvertently feels as though he
must pay. Immediately following this thought of payment, Rubashov burns out the cigarette on his
hand as a form of self–absolution. The toothache and thought of payment constantly pervade his
subconscious mind until Rubashov eventually identifies them as the concept of guilt.
The gradual realization of his guilt in his history with the Party coincides with the gradual
realization of his individuality, which he articulates as the grammatical fiction. The grammatical
fiction is so christened due to its emphasis on the use of the first person singular, a concept shunned
by the Party. After some time spent in his prison

Freshman School Experience
Freshman year, the first year of high school. No one knows what's going to happen and who they are
in this new environment. Are you nervous? Because I am. As I walked into school, the smell of
perfume and cologne filled my nose. Having my binder squeezed to my chest, and the feeling of
sweaty hands; I tried not to act nervous. I see a boy walk past me, his dark brown hair and tall figure
lured me as I watched him pass without a glance in my direction. As I walked down the long
freshman hall with checkered tiles and cream colored lockers, the eyes of my classmates turned in
my direction. The feeling of anxiety fell over me. I quickly headed to my first class when the bell
rang not wanting to be late. Seeing my friends made me more comfortable.
The first several periods of the day passed in a blur, finally we reached the last period, band. I
walked into this dark green room with dark gray carpets. As i scanned the room looking for someone
I knew I realized that all I see are people sitting in chairs that weren't familiar to me. My best friend
Kelsie was sitting with a tired looked in her eyes, so I walked over to the chair next to her. As I sat
there hearing the new band teacher talk about what to expect, my eyes started to wander, and
immediately stopped to see the dark haired boy sitting across from me on other side of the room.
Our eyes met as he smiled, and I felt my cheeks getting hot so I looked away quickly. As we were
"listening" I could see him from the corner of

Ariana Grande's Song You Don T Know Me
Art can be expressed in many different forms. Such as paintings, literature, dance, photography, and
music. The purpose of art is to convey stories to an audience. An example of this would be Ariana
Grande's song, "You Don't Know Me". In this song, Ariana is telling the story of how people are
judging her based off of what is said about her in the media, instead of getting to know her for
themselves. Art can be interpreted in different mediums. I decided to use the different principles and
elements of art such as emphasis, focal point, color, variety, pattern, rhythm, positive shapes, and
contrast in order to recreate the story that Ariana is singing about in her song. In my composition, I
am telling the story of a two girls. First, I drew ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my piece, I used the repetition of the shapes of lines and colors to create a pattern. This pattern of
alternating colors created an alternating rhythm in my artwork. I received inspiration for this rhythm
from the alternating rhythm in the song. Grande's Song starts off with heavy bass and is loud, but
transitions into a softer and slower rhythm. Throughout the song they rotate. In my composition, I
recreated this alternating rhythm by the way I had my lines start from the bottom corner on the right
side, but on the opposite side I started my lines from the top corner. The alternating colors and lines
on both sides create their own rhythms which coexist to form a complex, alternating rhythm in the
design. Using the colored lines I made a positive shape inside of my artwork. The outline of my
figure's body is the positive shape because it appears to be in the front of the composition. I made
the girl a positive shape because instead of coloring her in I left her colorless. The figure also creates
a contrast in my artwork. The plain, whiteness of the figure creates a contrast with the colorful lines
next to it. In conclusion, I used the different principles and elements of art to convey the story from
Ariana Grande's song, "You Don't Know Me". Using emphasis, focal point, color, variety, pattern,
rhythm, positive shapes, and contrast to communicate the theme of the story is saying that people

12 Angry Men Character Analysis Essay
In the movie, Twelve Angry Men, all of the characters have their own specific personalities. Jurors 1
through 12 all have gone through different life situations and come from different beginnings. On a
certain level, the jurors are all connected to each other in one way or another. That would be the
strength of the justice system. It brings people together that no one would have ever thought were
compatible to work with each other.
Juror 10 has a very specific personality that can be described in many ways. His character traits are
shown in Figure–1. He is very harsh towards the other jurors and doesn't care for any of them,
making the best shape to describe him a triangle. Secondly, Juror 10 is a hateful person and never

Juror 8 was the only member on the jury that voted not guilty from the very beginning. For instance,
he states, "There were eleven votes for guilty. It's not so easy for me to raise my hand and send a
boy off to die" (Twelve Angry Men). In saying this, he shows that he actually cares about what
happens to the boy and wants to give him the chance of reasonable doubt. Secondly, he was very
level–headed during all of the arguments and never got unhinged, making the perfect shape for his
personality a square. Next, the color of his figure (green) represents that he was a loyal and
unchanging with his opinion. After the 3rd time voting, he states, "Not guilty" (Twelve Angry Men).
A square, the shape of his personality, would appear to show that juror 8 is level–headed and sure of
himself. Since Juror 8 was so important, his shape size had to correlate. Also, he had a gargantuan
effect on all of the other characters throughout the whole storyline. Juror 8 didn't force his opinion
onto all of the other jurors, he just suggested and challenged their statements. For instance, after the
first time voting, Juror 8 says, "I don't want to change your mind. I just want to talk for awhile.

Character Analysis Of The Talented Mr Ripley
In The Talented Mr. Ripley, Tom Ripley is the main character, and his adventures around the world.
Breaking down the story, Ripley is imitating somebody to change his own personality. Ripley is
attempting to change his personality not to one particular individual, but rather to a large number of
individuals who are more successful and rich, for example, Dickie Greenleaf. Ripley feels the need
to mimick people because he feels the need to escape his actual life and identify as someone normal
and wealthy so that he could take advantage of their lives. David Grann stresses that when
Bourdin(a famous fraud) would talk in Spanish, his whole personality changed to that of a Spaniard.
This was additionally the same with communicating in English, his character changed again to an
Englishman. Besides, Bourdin had an ability that enabled him to emulate other individuals, or as one
individual expressed about him as a stunning actor(Grann, 2010). Grann uncovered how these
extortionists are so effective in their cons. The same is available in Ripley. This is seen when he can
emulate Greenleaf's penmanship and a large portion of his identity. Ripley uses this skill to create a
new life for him where he can actual see himself in Greenleaf's life, meaning, he begins to feel more
free as Greenleaf than himself, change his personality to that of less demanding one. As the story
continues, Ripley begins to see how much easier it is to impersonate someone other than himself.

Frank James Cooper 's The Winning Of Barbara Worth
The renowned actor, known as Frank James Cooper, had an affluent upbringing. Frank James
Cooper, also known as Gary Cooper, was born on May, 7, 1901, on a ranch in Helena, Montana. His
father, Charles Cooper, was a lawyer from England. His mother's name was Alice Cooper. Cooper
began his education at a prestigious school in England. Then, he attended Grinnell College in Iowa,
which he grew a passion for making cartoons. While at Grinnell College Gary Cooper got into a bad
car accident. Interestingly, his rehabilitation was horseback riding. Gary Cooper then decided to
move to the movie center of the United States, Hollywood. Around this time, Hollywood was in a
craze for western movies to revive the United States' history. Cooper ended up becoming an extra
for movies as a horseback rider. The first movie Gary starred in was called The Winning of Barbara
Worth, which was a silent movie. This movie is about two engineers who are fighting to be with
Barbara Worth, but she ends up being captured by a mob. Another conflict in the movie is Barbara
Worth's father's dam, which provides water to the desert, is failing. The engineers decide to put their
differences aside, and they restore the dam and save Barbara. The engineers were played by Gary
Cooper, who was Abe Lee, and Ronald Colman, who was Willard Holmes. Barbara Worth was
played by Vilma Banky. His first major role in a movie with words was the Virginian, which is a

The Center Stage-Personal Narrative
It was a dusky, cold evening in early December. The sky looked almost as if it might snow that night
because the sky was a charcoal gray, not a dark black. The lights and buildings sprinkled the sky,
like tiny little stars. The Center Stage's sign shone a bright green light that created a cast over
everyone who was waiting to get into the venue. Despite it being extremely cold outside, everyone
was just chatting away and laughter was heard from everywhere; it sounded like a nest of honey
bees. The air was sharp and chilly, but was filled with the scents of alcohol and cigarette smoke. The
group of people were waiting to see the band, Catfish and the Bottle men. All of the people here
were fairly young and dressed like hipsters. My group of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

deep, Scottish voice. "Hi, I was wondering if you would like to come with my friends and I to get
some pizza at the restaurant across the street?" I stood there, glaring at him, like a deer I head lights.
"I'm very sorry, but I rode here with some friends and I have to ride back home with them." An

High Noon Film Analysis Summaries
High Noon, a Plea for Help
High Noon opens on a lone rider and quickly establishes the suspense which drives the film. With
Gary Cooper at the helm, High Noon comfortably takes its place in the canon of classic Western
films. Except it is not the mythic Western that echoes James Fennimore Cooper's 1823 novel The
Pioneers. Rather than drawing on the process of taming the frontier and promoting Americanization,
High Noon serves as an allegory for mid–twentieth century political fervor and mistrust. At its core,
High Noon is the story of Carl Foreman, the film's author, and the isolation he felt while writing.
The Film: It is not ambitious to say that every scene in High Noon could be used to support
Foreman's message, but I will focus on three which are the most poignant. The fundamental plot of
High Noon involves Marshal Will Kane searching for supporters in his town of Hadleyville to help
fight Frank Miller and his thugs. Kane arrested Miller five years prior, but he was acquitted and
returns to town with one goal: to kill Kane. The first of the three scene occurs only minutes into the
film, but it characterizes Kane's entire search. The first hopeful recruit to defend Hadleyville is
Judge Percy Mettick, a longtime friend and supporter of Kane, and the man who had just married
Kane to Amy Fowler. Mettick answers his call to arms with a story of fifth century Athens where
citizens remove a tyrant but welcome him and allow him to slaughter the elected government
officials

Descriptive Power Of Nature
Deep in the mountains in the southwest corner of North Carolina is a river unlike any other. Halfway
through my perilous rafting journey, there was a moment when time stood still. I witnessed a natural
phenomenon which displayed the beauty of nature at its finest. During that moment, I realized the
insignificance of humanity, and why we should respect the overwhelming power of nature. The
Nantahala is a whitewater river nestled in a valley with steep mountains flanking it on all sides. The
forest it was situated in is the only temperate rain forest east of the Mississippi River. The rafting
Industry has adopted this river as its premier destination. I was a 14 year old Boy Scout on a three
day camping trip in the Nantahala Gorge. The weather was cloudy with periodic rain showers
throughout the day and night. The temperature was at the mid 80's but never got above the 90's. I
was in a bright yellow raft shared amongst five of my companions and a rafting Guide who went by
the name "Bones." "Bones" was a Caucasian man with dreads in his hair, tattoos of paddles shaped
as a pirates cross on both of his arms, and was massively strong. We floated down the river like
leaves down a stream; constantly fighting to stay upright and not be cast overboard by the restless
aggression of the rapids. We were part of the way through a two hour journey down the Nantahala
river. It had rained continuously throughout the trip, which meant we were soaked to the bone and
fighting hypothermia.

Edvard Munch's Separation Annotation
According to edvardmunch.org, Edvard Munch's painting "Separation" painted in 1896, like his
other paintings, represented German expressionism. Expressionist paintings portray profound
mental torment and have dark, gloomy undertones. The dark nature of his paintings is in part due to
the fact that his father suffered from a mental illness, which profoundly impacted his upbringing.
However, his paintings from about 1892 to 1908 reveal his interest in nature and are brighter than all
of his previous work. Munch expresses the nature of his soul through symbolizing the natural world
rather than just superficially painting what is visible to the eye. His painting Separation is an
epitome of these characteristics in the context of love, showing the ... Show more content on

The man stands on dull, dark–green land. According to color–wheel–pro.com, the article "Color
Wheel Pro – See Color Theory in Action" asserts that dark green is associated with ambition. Yet,
according to edvardmunch.org in this painting, the man's ambition is being suppressed because of
the crimson plant which is preventing him from moving forward into the future. The crimson plant
is "possibly intended as a mandrake, with its love and death symbolism". Along with the black
clothing, the plant further reinforces the idea that the girl might as well as be dead to him but at the
same time he still cares for her. Assuming that the crimson on his hand and the plant is blood, the
man feels like he has the blood of his lover on his hands. He feels guilty because of his part in their
breakup, which is an emotion other than sorrow which is why the hand clutching his chest is
brighter than his face. Looking behind the man, the brown tree is barren yet bright. According to

comfort. However, since the tree is barren, the tree does not represent comfort but a lack thereof.

Analysis Of Highsmith Moved Into The Yaddo Artist 's Retreat
In 1948, Highsmith moved into the Yaddo artist 's retreat, a community which aims to "to nurture
the creative process by providing an opportunity for artists to work without interruption in a
supportive environment" (Yaddo). During her time here, she lived generally disconnected from the
outside world and completely immersed herself in her writing. When not working on her novel, she
was journaling. Murder, she wrote, "'is a kind of making love, a kind of possessing.' She described it
as feeling 'quite close to murder,' with her hands on her lover 's throat instantly making the victim
'cool and rigid as a statue'" ("Murder for Pleasure" 54). Her personal journals were strangely

Highsmith, who was never exclusive with Brandel, resented having sex with him. However, despite
the repulsion she felt towards her partner, Patricia was determined to make it work. For six months,
Highsmith underwent psychoanalysis in an effort "to regularize herself sexually" so she could marry
Brandel (Schenkar 138–139). Although she withdrew from treatment, the psychological community
heavily impacted the outlook Highsmith had on her personal relationships in her life. This is
especially prevalent in regards to her sexuality. Strangers on a Train, Highsmith's first novel, deals
with both psychopathy and homosexuality. The main characters of this novel happen upon one
another during a chance encounter on a train. Guy, the protagonist, meets Bruno. Afterward, the two
start discussing the problems in their lives, and Guy spills his heart out to Bruno, for "Bruno was not
the ordinary stranger on the train by any means. He was cruel and corrupt enough himself to
appreciate a story like that of his first love" (Highsmith, Strangers 23). Once the two have gotten to
know one another, Bruno seems to make a joke about each killing off the individual who creates
issues in the other's life. Guy is disturbed by this idea, but Bruno is serious. At this point, Highsmith
starts developing the psychopathic buildup of Guy. Throughout the novel, Guy is shown to be a
considerate, caring man. At one point, he thinks "the taste of Scotch, though Guy didn't much care

Descriptive Essay On The Park
I was walking towards the park my father always took me to do my project when I was little, "Let
me go!" I heard a girl scream.
I tried to see where it was coming from, as I looked across the green grass wondering if it was my
imagination or not. The grass had been recently mowed and the trees had animals on them as if the
whole city was perfect. I heard it again, " Please let me go!"
I decided to put my textbooks and the designing journal down on the bench. In the city we live in,
there is no crime so nobody would steal my stuff. I tried to hear where the scream came from. As I
walked around the whole park, the sound grew fainter. I found where the sound was coming from. I
hid behind a big, green, and growing tree. She looked tired but strong. The guards didn't look happy.

Symbolism In The Talented Mr. Ripley By Patricia Highsmith
"The Talented Mr. Ripley" by Patricia Highsmith, set in 1950s in a somewhat vibrant, jazz
influenced Italy, gives a vivid insight into the mind of a small–time conman turned psychopath. It
also provides us with the central concepts of amorality, paranoia and how that survival and greed for
money can turn almost ordinary people uncaring and self–indulgent. Highsmith's use of third person
narrative is an effective technique and is used to expand on the thesis of morality in the novel . Tom
Ripley, a man in his mid–20's, claims he is close friends with Richard "Dickie" Greenleaf, when in
reality, he doesn't really know Dickie at all. (3) Approached by the wealthy Herbert Greenleaf, Tom
is asked to retrieve his son, Dickie, from Italy. (3) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Overall the themes and plots were similar, but there were additional characters and a different

much I thought I was going to after reading the book. In the same way that every mystery is exciting
until you find the logical explanation, the film is intriguing because you don't have the luxury of
knowing Tom's background, or why he covets Dickie's lifestyle. It was because of these changes,
even though some were minor that I did not enjoy the movie. I do understand though that in order to
appeal to a more broad audience the producers had to add and change details in order for it to be
more appealing. The differences did not make the movie unexciting, but the book is definitely better.
The book provides a more in–depth profile analysis of the characters involved and especially puts a

1) Since the [OH⁻] would double, half the required number of drops would be needed. 2) Adding
OH⁻ would react with the Fe³⁺ in the system to form a precipitate Fe(OH)₃. This would decrease the
[Fe³⁺] in the system. Equilibrium will shift left to counteract the change and the solution becomes
lighter yellow in colour. 3) Cooling the contents decreases the amount of heat in the system.
Equilibrium will shift to the left causing the solution to become light red. 4) Heating favours
endothermic reactions. As the reactant "Co(H₂O)₆²⁺" was heated, the solution changed from light red
to dark purple. This suggests that the equilibrium shifted right. Therefore, the forward reaction is
endothermic. 5) Adding NaCl would increase [Cl⁻]. This will cause equilibrium to shift right and the
solution would become dark purple. 6) 2 CrO₄²⁻ + 2 H⁺ ↔ Cr₂O₇ + H₂O

Movie Review : A Film Review On High Noon
I have decided to write my film review on High Noon because it is a movie fresh into my mind that
I really enjoyed. It is the best movie shown in the class so far. It seems like a movie way ahead of its
time for being made in 1952. The exposition was quick and gave us all the info we needed about the
characters to move on with the story. The rising action was my favorite part of the movie believe it
or not. It shows us even more background and Will's struggle to get people to help. Every time he

I agree with that because in a lot of movies I watch, I wonder how long it takes to do a certain thing
but never tells us. The main point of his I do not agree with is "High Noon isn't really a masterpiece,
and if you're a fan of more honest Westerns, it's hard not to notice Zinnemann's general lack of
interest throughout" (Anderson, 11). A western movie shouldn't have the same plot repeated over.
Zinnemann just put his own unique twist on the western just like everyone else should. Not only
that, we don't know what a western town was actually like back in the day. So his movie could have
been 100 percent accurate western movie for all we know. In the end he still recommend the movie
to be watched if you have not seen it before and have it a 3 stars out of 4. I believe it is a pretty fair
rating, but not for the points he made. Film Critic 2 – James Berardinelli In this review, he says High
Noon is about loyalty and betrayal which I agree with since Will stays loyal to the town even though
the town betrayed him by not helping him when he needed it most. Amy also stays loyal by helping
Will in the final fight. He says High Noon can be seen as a play rather than a movie. You can say
this about almost every movie so I would have to disagree with this. A point he brought up that was
pretty interesting is "Miller had been so thoroughly demonized that the appearance of a normal
(albeit tough–looking) man is a little disappointing."( Berardinelli, 12). This goes into my

Essay on High Noon
For my at home movie I watched Hang em' High directed by Ted Post. It is considered a spaghetti
western that was made in America. In comparison to the film we watched in class, High Noon
directed by Fred Zinnemann. These two westerns had many similarities and differences. From
differences in how the movie was actually shot, to the similarity of how both of the main characters
are loners, these two movies connect all over on many different levels.
High Noon was the story of a very brave man, Will Kane played by Gary Cooper, which is giving up
his Sheriff position to become a homemaker with him wife. Just when they are leaving to start their
new life together, there is news that four outlaws are coming back into town to seek revenge on ...

At the end of the movie Sheriff Kane throws down his badge in front of the whole town in disgrace,
he doesn't even need to say a word, and he and Amy ride off together to start their new life.
In the movie Hang em' High, Clint Eastwood plays the main character Jed Cooper. A group of men
accuse him of stealing cattle and killing one of their neighbors. When he can't prove to them his
innocence, they hang him. It just so happens that a U.S. Marshall was in the area and he saved
Cooper's life. Then the Marshall brought him to the judge to see if he is guilty. Eventually, it was
discovered that Cooper was innocent, and had bought the cattle from a criminal who killed the
owner then sold the cattle to him. Cooper was finally released, but he now wanted revenge on the
men who tried to lynch him. The judge tells Cooper to give their descriptions to one of his marshal's
and they will try to find them, but Cooper feels that it's not enough. The judge warns Cooper about
taking the law into his own hands. When he told the judge that he was a formal law man, and he
knows the law, the judge offers Cooper a job as a Marshall, and he takes the job. After accepting the
job, he goes around and tried to gather up all men that tried to hang him. Along the way he has many
side adventures, and tests the limits of right and wrong. In the end after a good old fashion western
shoot out, Cooper goes back to town and decides that he's done, or so we think. The judge made him

Analysis Of The Book ' The Wild West : The Mythical Cowboy...
Old western movies are the dominant delineate style of American movies, they are a wistful tribute
to the previous years of the wide–ranging, barbaric western frontier. The western landscape and
nature play an important role in the development of key aspects in the films, such as the setting and
relationships between the characters. These aspects are how the setting is created, the shaping of the
plot, and how the movie molds the human experiences and social relationships. Many historians like
Richard Slotkin believe that all these aspects are what make up old western movies. These aspects
will be supported with information from Slotkin's book "Gunfighter Nation", Will Wright's book
"The Wild West: The Mythical Cowboy and Social Theory", John White's book "Westerns", and
Jane Tompkin's book "West of Everything, The Inner life of Westerns" and various films which
consist of William A. Wellman "The Ox–Bow Incident", Fred Zinnemann "High Noon", John Ford
"The Searchers", Sam Peckinpah "The Wild Bunch", and Robert Altman "McCabe & Mrs.Miller".
Old western movies are one of the most classic, acquiescent, and common American genres of
mythic origins. Most settings in western movies are typically set in between Mojave Desert (which
was in Southeastern California, Southern Nevada, and parts of Arizona and Utah) to Texas and
Mexico of the North American frontier, but not all westerns were set in the desert of the south west.
In the movie "McCabe & Mrs.Miller" it takes on western

High Noon : A Formal Analysis Of High Noon
Standing Your Ground: A Formal Analysis of High Noon Kane, the main character in High Noon is
a Hero. He didn't slay dragons or walk through fire. He didn't conquer the world or go on an
adventurous quest. However, he did something most people are afraid to do. He stood up for what
he believed in regardless of whether he stood alone. Made by Carl Foreman, this movie contained a
marshal named Kane. News went around town that Frank Miller, a criminal Kane put in prison a
while back, was coming to town on the noon train to get his revenge. Instead of leaving town, he
decided to stay and fight. He turned to the townspeople for help, but none lifted a finger. They were
all concerned for their own safety. Nevertheless, despite all of the pleas from the people and his wife
for him to leave town, Kane's plans remain unchanged. Kane was not a hero like Thor, or Wonder
Woman, but the type of hero from real life; one who stood up for what he believed in, even if he
stood alone. Foreman skillfully highlights the loneliness that Kane feels when facing Miller and his
gang. Near the end of the movie, Kane was standing in the street waiting for Miller to arrive. Sweat
was pouring down his face, and he was shaking with fear. Then, the camera slowly zooms out and
the rest of the street is desolate. There is nothing but silence as the people fearfully wait in hiding for
Kane to face Miller. Similarly, other works of literature praise those who fight for what they believe
in, even if they

Moralism In The Movie High Noon
High Noon, the shocking American film from the 1950's, shines light on the true nature of one
standing their ground when the world is against them. This movie was written to represent the Red
Scare, when Hollywood members were falsely accused of being communist. These actors were
forced to give names of others who they thought were "communists" or else they would be
punished. If the "communist" actors gave out names, however, they would be ruining other's careers.
Some of the people refused to give names. Like the Marshall in the movie High Noon, these brave
actors stood up for what they believed in. Nevertheless, the other members of Hollywood around
were not very willing to support. They were like the townspeople in High Noon. They didn't want to
risk their own reputation and safety. In the film, Zinnemann successfully revealed the hardships of
those falsely convicted, and exposed the hearts of those who saw the false conviction, but did
nothing about it in order to protect themselves. Directed by Fred Zinnemann, this thrilling motion
picture's main character is a marshal named Cain, played by the actor Gary Cooper. He's asked by
the townspeople to relocate because a few villains plan to kill him at high noon. Instead of heeding
to the advice of the townspeople, Cain stands up for what he believes in, and stays to fight all four of
the villains. People slowly remove themselves from him, and refuse to fight by his side. He has to
face his enemies alone.
High Noon is like many other works of literature which praised heroes who fought the fight alone.
Helen Hannah, in the movie Judgment was mocked and put on trial for her religious beliefs. Tousle,
in the novel Straw into Gold, broke out of the crowd, and spoke on behalf of innocent people being
claimed as rebels. These heroes were ready and willing to put their life on the line for what they
believe. However, it was not easy for any of them. Just like the other authors, Zinnemann wanted the
audience to see the internal struggle the hero was having. The look on the marshal's face, the
weariness in his gait, and his conflicting thoughts when he walked into the bar, and punched one of
the men in the face, and was about to leave on the horse, but changed his

The Talented Mr.Ripley
The Struggle of the Mind The Psychoanalytic Theory is a means of literary critique which provides
a framework for insightful character analysis. Its tenet is based on Sigmund Freud's structural model
of the psyche which identifies the id, the ego and the superego as the three theoretical constructs in
terms of whose activity and interaction mental life is described. According to such model, the
irrational, instinctual trends of the mind are the id; the rational, realistic part of the psyche is the ego;
and its critical and moralizing function is the superego. By applying such Freudian concepts to Tom
Ripley, the protagonist in Patricia Highsmith's The Talented Mr. Ripley, the reader is better able to
understand the forces ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His common sense tells him that, "...if he only hadn't been in such a hurry and so greedy, if he only
hadn't misjudged the relationship between Dickie and Marge so stupidly, or had simply waited for
them to separate of their own volition, then none of this would have happened, and he could have
lived with Dickie for the rest of his life, travelled and lived and enjoyed living for the rest of his
life." (Highsmith 137)
Tom's ego helps him to understand that he cannot always get what he wants immediately and that if
he had compromised and waited, he might have been happier, and it is this realization that makes
him feel isolated and alone. By the end of the novel, Tom's ego resurfaces and he changes his
attitude toward others. While before he only thought of what he wanted, he now "...was inspired to
spend hours with [Mrs. Cartwright] in the deck chair, talking to her and listening to her talk about
her life in England and Greece..." (Highsmith 267) As Tom realizes that the evidence that has been
unveiled thus far in the murders is pointing towards his guilt, he begins to reason that his new life
may come to an end and he recognizes other people's solitude because he too feels the same way.
While Tom's id and ego are at odds with each other, his superego never fully develops for he
sometimes experiences guilt for his wrongdoings but does not accept full responsibility

Personal Narrative: Life Before The Red Death
I will never forget my life before the Red Death took over my town. Before the Red Death overtook

My day started at dawn. Mass and prayers would be made and I would be served by my maids; this
is also the time where my maids would help me get my dress on for the day. After breakfast I had

Chromatography Lab Used to Examine Spinach and Red Cabbage
Chromatography Lab
In this chromatography lab filter paper was used to examine the different pigments of spinach and
red cabbage. There were two hypotheses for both plants. The hypothesis for the red cabbage was
that there would be multiple pigments evident. The hypothesis for the spinach was similar in that
there would be different pigments present. Both hypotheses were accepted in that there were
multiple pigments found on the filter paper of each sample. Major scientific concepts in this lab
include chromatography and pigments. Chromatography is the division of mixtures, solution, and
others into its different components. Chromatography is often used to separate a solution into its
separate parts. Chromatography filters complicated compounds accurately without involving a
difficult process so it is often used. In this lab, we used chromatography to separate the different
pigments in the plants. When looking at plants, the colors of the plants are the colors that are
reflected from the different wavelengths of the light spectrum. The colors that are not evident are the
colors the plants absorb and use as energy. Pigments are the compounds of a plant the enable the
reflected colors to be evident. These pigments function to capture light energy from the sun to
enable the plants to undergo photosynthesis.

Color And The Perception Of Color
Color and the Perception of Color
Cynthia Xu
Stoller Middle School
Perception. The ability to see, hear, or become aware of something through one of the five senses
(Kandel, Schwartz, & Jessell, 2000). In other words, it is the process of interpreting and organizing
sensory information. Perception must be understood according to figure–ground, similarity,
proximity, continuity, and other organizing principles. At work in the interpretation of sensory
stimuli are other perceptual phenomena such as perceptual constancy, a phenomenon which occurs
in the perception of size, shape, color, and brightness; depth perception, another phenomenon based
on binocular and monocular cues; and the perception of motion (Wood, 2008). One of the brain's
primary functions is to obtain biologically important information from the various sensory inputs.
The brain of a human is provided with sufficient information about a variety of things such as light,
sound, the atmosphere's chemical composition, temperature, and things such as head orientation,
limb position, the chemical composition of the bloodstream, among other things. Specialized
sensors project signals into the brain when they detect sensory modalities. Light–sensitive neurons
in the retina of the eye, vibration–sensitive neurons in the cochlea of the ear, along with the
pressure–sensitive neurons in the skin are all specialized receptor cells of which each sensory
system begins with. The axons of the sensory receptor

Kitagawa Utamaro And Paul Gauguin's Use Of Color Techniques
Describe specifically what the term "arbitrary color" means, a color used at random for objects that
have a common color, such as, a tree has green leaves, but we choose to make the leave purple or
making the sun black, the clouds green, or the sky yellow, etc.
Who was the first artist to employ the technique? I would have to say Katsushika Hokusai,
Kitagawa Utamaro, and And¯o Hiroshige had a role in the technique. The technique was used in
And¯o Hiroshige color woodcut print, ("Moon Pine at Ueno from One Hundred Views of Famous
Places in Edo"), (Pg. 27), because of the color use. The colors seem to be out of place, such as, the
sky's appearance being that of black, blue, and green, also the tree appears to have a redder tent than
what we would normally see in nature. Hiroshige and other Japanese artists had gotten young artist
thinking about color, arbitrary color, and pure color. One of the artist that took the color techniques
from color woodcut prints and Japanese prints was Paul Gauguin. Gauguin was truly the first to
employ arbitrary color techniques, which can be seen in his (Vision after the Sermon), (Pg. 60), with
vivid red paint in the back ground, splashes of green and blue tenting on the nuns faces, these colors
are not known in nature, and they are non–descriptive. It just isn't natural to see these colors placed
this way. Thus, Gauguin's paintings influenced younger artist and affected their ideas in the Nabis
and Fauve periods. Later movements adopted this

Introduction
This experiment was about identifying the unknown microorganism given by the instructor. This
exercise is important to understand and apply all previous laboratory practices, as well as those
learned in our first unknown exercise, for identifying the given unknown organism. With the
knowledge and practice of performing biochemical and physiological identifying tests, I was able to
determine the unknown bacteria. For this experiment, I was given Unknown #12 and used a series of
tests to determine the specimen, further explained in this report.
Materials and Methods
For the Gram stain, I used a microscope slide, wash bottle of water, clothespin, and the reagents
crystal violet, Gram's iodine, ethyl alcohol, and safranin to observe whether the organism was Gram
negative or positve. The method was placing and heat fixing a loopful of the unknown organism on
the slide. The organisms were then stained with crystal violet for a minute, rinsed off, flooded with
iodine for a minute, rinsed off, decolorized with alcohol for 30 seconds, and then finally stained with
the counter–stain, safranin, for a minute. I streaked the unknown onto a TSA plate and incubated at
35 C. With a pure colony, we performed a second gram stain procedure and inoculated it into a TSA
slant. I used BCP Lactose broth and a loop to perform a BCP Lactose test. The broth was inoculated
with a loopful of the unknown and incubated

High Noon Compare And Contrast
The movie High Noon written by Carl Foreman and the short story "The Most Dangerous Game" by
Rich Connell are both fantastic stories that contain a fairly different plot, but they also have a few
similarities. High Noon takes place in a small remote area called Hadleyville, and tells the story of
the towns Marshal. His name is Will Kane and he is a brave character that doesn't stand down.
Recently he married Amy, who is also a Quaker, but conflict appears when Frank Miller, who is the
man Kane sent to jail, is coming back to town. Another problem he has trouble swearing in deputies

who is a world renowned hunter. While on a trip to the Amazon rainforest, ... Show more content on

In both of the stories the main characters have conflicts that are both similar and different than each
other. In the short story it says, " It was General Zaroff. He made his way along with his eyes fixed
on the ground before him. He paused, almost beneath the tree, dropped to his knees and studied the
ground. Rainsford's impulse was to hurl himself down like a panther, but he saw the general's right
hand held something metallic–a small automatic pistol" (Connell 19). During this part of the story,
Zaroff is hunting Rainsford. Zaroff was able follow Rainsford to his hideout. I can tell that Zaroff
was trying to kill him because he had a gun with him. In the movie, besides Frank Miller coming
back for revenge, he got married to a Quaker. His wife, who's name is Amy, is a Quaker. One of the
actions that are forbidden in the religion is murder. In the movie, it says "I'm sorry honey. I know
how you feel about it–. How do you know I feel it? I know it's against your religion and all. Of
course I know how you feel about it (Foreman 296). In this text, Kane and Amy are arguing about if
Kane should stay or go. If he leaves, he could put the town at risk and if he stays he would most
likely have to fight Miller. Also Amy claims that Kane doesn't know why she wants him to stay, but
he understands that it's in her belief. Even though the storyline may be very contrasting, the
characters actually have quite a few qualities that they

The Pros And Cons Of Sun Based Pokemon
Sun based Pokemon are better than Moon based Pokemon in design, abilities, and execution. By
Jeramie Fisher The sun and moon have always been a constant presence and source of inspiration
for human beings, ranging from deities to simply providing warmth and a beautiful sight to see.
Humans have always had opinions, some stronger than others, and today that topic will be discussed
in reference to a popular video game series, Pokemon. Now in order to keep opinions from being
too broad and contradictory The subject will be focusing on the Sun based Pokemon against its
counterpart; because face it every Pokemon is weak to something and for the most part Pokemon
matches are decided by what someone brings to the table. Execution, which is by far the most
factual way to prove that Sun Pokemon are indeed superior to Moon Pokemon, is placing them
directly against each other in an actual fight without the aid of others and seeing who has the upper

"It's not fair," I huffed, "I don't want to leave! This is my home!" My mother's brown eyes stared

The light was shining on Evangeline's face as she opened her eyes. Her head was throbbing and as
she looked around her, she didn't know where she was at. It wasn't until she saw Mason and Casey

has died back to normal, no longer having the sharp clarity it had the night before. Her mouth was
really dry though, so she climbed down the ladder, trying not to wake the others. She quietly crept to
the mini–fridge in the corner of the room and pulled out a glass of water. They didn't have any

plopping down on the nearest beanbag and closing her eyes.
There she sat for what seemed to be hours. It must have only been about 30 minutes though because
when Casey plopped down beside her the sun was exactly where it was when she closed her eyes.
The first thing she sees when she opens her eyes is a concerned look on her best friends face.
"Hey how you feeling, if I knew you were such a lightweight I wouldn't have let you drink that
much," she pauses and smiles a little bit, "I didn't know you'd pass out" So they think I passed out
because of the alcohol. How am I supposed to explain the bright light and the sounds? I'll sound just
as crazy as my mother... After a moment Evangeline decides to go along with it,"Yeah, I guess I
overestimated how much I could handle" Casey rolls her eyes and mumbles something about never
being able to take her anywhere. They lay there in silence, watching the sun rise and Evangeline
smiles. She's finally sixteen. For a lot of people that means a car and a job and more freedom, but
for her, it means her mom will get off her back.
"Mom, what's with all of these rules, why can't I be normal." Her mother sighed at Evangeline, she's
getting older and starting to question everything. Why does her mom act like this? What caused the
fire that killed her dad? Why is this stupid story so important to her mother? "Lenna, I've told you a
million times it's for your own protection. You have to

"Clothes” by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni Essay
The short store "Clothes" by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni is about a young Indian woman, Sumita,
and her cultural transition to America that is symbolized by her clothes and the color of her clothes.
The traditional Indian attire for a woman is a sari and each one has its own purpose. Her clothes also
indicate her progression from daughter, to wife, to woman.
The story starts off with the bride to be in a yellow sari preparing to meet her future husband by
bathing in a lake. She describes the yellow sari as a sunflower after rain. Yellow here could possible
signify new times to come or peace. The bath she was taking is relaxing her to the idea that she is
about to marry a man she has not even met, as well as the thought of losing her ... Show more

[talk about Indian tradition and beliefs about Indian women becoming Americanized]
In some countries white signifies purity and cleanliness. In others it is the color of royalty or deities.
Sumita's husband owns a 7–11 store in California. He is constantly having to work the night shift to
try to earn extra money so that they can move out on their own. One night he is held at gun point
and shot to death. To mourn his death Sumita wears a white sari.
During the mourning of his death they perform a bangle breaking ceremony. [talk about the
ceremony and what It means] They break the bangles that are on Sumita's arm and send multi–
colored shards flying all over the room and on the sheet that her husband lies under. The multi–
colored shards might represent the fact that right now her life has shattered like the bracelets and she
is scattered in a place that she is not familier with.
You can now tell that Sumita has become pretty Americanized compared to when she first arrived in
the United States. For instance, she is talking about getting an education and working in a school
teaching in front of a classroom of blond kids in her cream–and–brown American dress. She is
beginning to make more decisions on her own and step away from her beliefs. Here the color cream
and the color brown are making her feel more americanized. If you are to go back a few paragraphs
when her husband first bought the skirt and

Summary Of Western Women In High Noon
Woman played a crucial role in the building blocks of the western mystique but they were often
excluded from the mystique. Their role as homemakers and guardians of morals and culture on the
frontier is undeniable, and female pioneers' lives were not as dramatic as the western males.
Understandably, pioneer women also faced loneliness and despair more frequently than men did,
and their mortality rate was higher due to the fact they had more boundaries and limitations. Woman
focused on relationships and maintaining stability during a crisis. Which was far different from a
male point of focus. Although both High Noon by Fred Zinnemann and "Madonna of the Prairie" by
William Koerner convey the Western life of a pioneer woman, Director Fred Zinnemann depicts a
western woman who breaks away from western morals and values to do the right thing, whereas
Artist William Koerner depicts an authentic pioneer woman who stays within her morals as a
western woman.
In the film High Noon by Fred Zinnemann, Will Kane finds himself personally compelled to duel
his enemy Frank Miller when he realizes the townspeople of Hadleyville turned cowardly when the
time came for a showdown. Will Kane and Frank miller and his bandits duel with their guns outside
as everyone hides away from the bullets. Amy Kane peeks out her window to get glimpses of how
her groom battling the unlawful criminal; She cannot handle watching her groom participate in the
dangerous showdown alone. She handles her handgun in

Compare And Contrast High Noon And The Most Dangerous Game
Humans. All humans come in different sizes, shapes, beliefs, and ethnicities. This makes each
human very different but, it can also make us very similar. Just like humans, books can be classified
into different characteristics also. Instead of using the way we classify humans, books are classified
by things like theme, symbols, and setting. This is how we are able to compare and contrast the two
stories High Noon and "The Most Dangerous Game". In High Noon and " The Most Dangerous
Game", they have very similar, but, very different ideas on theme, isolation, and conflict.
Out of all of the themes in the film High Noon, this one theme stands out in particular to me. Will
Kane, "They're making me run. I never run from anybody before" (Foreman 283). This ... Show

'" there to the right somewhere–is a large island," said Whitney" (Connel 211). The short story "The
Most Dangerous Game" takes place on a island in the Caribbean. Rainsford ends up falling off of his
boat and swimming to the nearest island. Where he then meets Zaroff who challenges him to a life
or death game. "If he does, and if we run– they'll just come after us. Four of them, and we'd be all
alone on the prairie" ( Foreman 26). The film High Noon is set in a Western Town that is in the
middle of nowhere. Will Kane who is a Marshall figures out the person he sent to jail is coming
back to get him. Both themes are focused on two different topics. Now you would think these two
stories are nothing alike, but both main characters have something that stops them from running
away from there enemies. This something is isolation. With nowhere to run, Kane is left to wait at
the town for Miller. And with no way to escape the island, Rainsford is forced to play the fight or die
game with Zaroff. Even if, both settings are completely opposite, they do share the setting
characteristic of

Miraj Hammam Spa

  • 1. Miraj Hammam Spa Introduction Before starting any design process, the designer must consider doing a research and a case study. Research is considered important for designers because it helps them highlight the key elements and principles of design that are effective and helps them examine designs for holes or mistakes. This allows the designer to learn from other designers mistakes and learn new effective ideas. Case study is a great method of research that allows the designers to experience and visualize the spaces, and helps them learn from other designers' experiences and previous designs as well as what they chose for the space layout, materials, lighting and the like. Guilty Betrayal in Arthur Koestler's Darkness at Noon Arthur Koestler's Darkness at Noon depicts the fallacious logic of a totalitarian regime through the experiences of Nicolas Salmanovitch Rubashov. Rubashov had fought in the revolution and was once part of the Central Committee of the Party, but he is arrested on charges of instigating attempted assassinations of No. 1, and for taking part in oppositional, counter–revolutionary activities, and is sent to a Soviet prison. Rubashov, in his idle pacing throughout his cell, recollects his past with the Party. It is not until after he has spent some time in his cell pondering the grammatical fiction that he associates his toothache with these guilty dealings of his past. After reminiscing of his meeting with Richard, Rubashov dreams that "Richard and the old taxi–driver [are] pursuing him, because they felt themselves cheated and betrayed by him. I will pay my fare, he [thinks] with an awkward smile" (42). Rubashov does indeed betray Richard's trust and faith in the Party by expelling him. For the taxi driver, Rubashov is guilty of letting him believe in the virtue of the Party, along with a supposed friendship with Richard. Rubashov has silently affirmed the necessity of his expulsion of Richard. He does not consciously associate this dream with guilt, and thus he inadvertently feels as though he must pay. Immediately following this thought of payment, Rubashov burns out the cigarette on his hand as a form of self–absolution. The toothache and thought of payment constantly pervade his subconscious mind until Rubashov eventually identifies them as the concept of guilt. The gradual realization of his guilt in his history with the Party coincides with the gradual realization of his individuality, which he articulates as the grammatical fiction. The grammatical fiction is so christened due to its emphasis on the use of the first person singular, a concept shunned by the Party. After some time spent in his prison ... As I walked into school, the smell of perfume and cologne filled my nose. Having my binder squeezed to my chest, and the feeling of sweaty hands; I tried not to act nervous. I see a boy walk past me, his dark brown hair and tall figure lured me as I watched him pass without a glance in my direction. As I walked down the long freshman hall with checkered tiles and cream colored lockers, the eyes of my classmates turned in my direction. The feeling of anxiety fell over me. I quickly headed to my first class when the bell rang not wanting to be late. Seeing my friends made me more comfortable. The first several periods of the day passed in a blur, finally we reached the last period, band. I walked into this dark green room with dark gray carpets. As i scanned the room looking for someone I knew I realized that all I see are people sitting in chairs that weren't familiar to me. My best friend Kelsie was sitting with a tired looked in her eyes, so I walked over to the chair next to her. As I sat there hearing the new band teacher talk about what to expect, my eyes started to wander, and immediately stopped to see the dark haired boy sitting across from me on other side of the room. • 12. Ariana Grande's Song You Don T Know Me Art can be expressed in many different forms. Such as paintings, literature, dance, photography, and music. The purpose of art is to convey stories to an audience. An example of this would be Ariana Grande's song, "You Don't Know Me". In this song, Ariana is telling the story of how people are judging her based off of what is said about her in the media, instead of getting to know her for themselves. Art can be interpreted in different mediums. I decided to use the different principles and elements of art such as emphasis, focal point, color, variety, pattern, rhythm, positive shapes, and contrast in order to recreate the story that Ariana is singing about in her song. In my composition, I am telling the story of a two girls. First, I drew ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In my piece, I used the repetition of the shapes of lines and colors to create a pattern. This pattern of alternating colors created an alternating rhythm in my artwork. I received inspiration for this rhythm from the alternating rhythm in the song. Grande's Song starts off with heavy bass and is loud, but transitions into a softer and slower rhythm. Throughout the song they rotate. In my composition, I recreated this alternating rhythm by the way I had my lines start from the bottom corner on the right side, but on the opposite side I started my lines from the top corner. The alternating colors and lines on both sides create their own rhythms which coexist to form a complex, alternating rhythm in the design. Using the colored lines I made a positive shape inside of my artwork. The outline of my figure's body is the positive shape because it appears to be in the front of the composition. I made the girl a positive shape because instead of coloring her in I left her colorless. The figure also creates a contrast in my artwork. The plain, whiteness of the figure creates a contrast with the colorful lines next to it. In conclusion, I used the different principles and elements of art to convey the story from Ariana Grande's song, "You Don't Know Me". Using emphasis, focal point, color, variety, pattern, rhythm, positive shapes, and contrast to communicate the theme of the story is saying that people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That would be the strength of the justice system. It brings people together that no one would have ever thought were compatible to work with each other. Juror 10 has a very specific personality that can be described in many ways. His character traits are shown in Figure–1. In saying this, he shows that he actually cares about what happens to the boy and wants to give him the chance of reasonable doubt. Next, the color of his figure (green) represents that he was a loyal and unchanging with his opinion. After the 3rd time voting, he states, "Not guilty" (Twelve Angry Men). • 16. Character Analysis Of The Talented Mr Ripley In The Talented Mr. Ripley, Tom Ripley is the main character, and his adventures around the world. Breaking down the story, Ripley is imitating somebody to change his own personality. Ripley is attempting to change his personality not to one particular individual, but rather to a large number of individuals who are more successful and rich, for example, Dickie Greenleaf. Ripley feels the need to mimick people because he feels the need to escape his actual life and identify as someone normal and wealthy so that he could take advantage of their lives. David Grann stresses that when Bourdin(a famous fraud) would talk in Spanish, his whole personality changed to that of a Spaniard. This was additionally the same with communicating in English, his character changed again to an Englishman. Besides, Bourdin had an ability that enabled him to emulate other individuals, or as one individual expressed about him as a stunning actor(Grann, 2010). Grann uncovered how these extortionists are so effective in their cons. The same is available in Ripley. This is seen when he can emulate Greenleaf's penmanship and a large portion of his identity. Ripley uses this skill to create a new life for him where he can actual see himself in Greenleaf's life, meaning, he begins to feel more free as Greenleaf than himself, change his personality to that of less demanding one. • 22. High Noon Film Analysis Summaries High Noon, a Plea for Help High Noon opens on a lone rider and quickly establishes the suspense which drives the film. With Gary Cooper at the helm, High Noon comfortably takes its place in the canon of classic Western films. Except it is not the mythic Western that echoes James Fennimore Cooper's 1823 novel The Pioneers. Rather than drawing on the process of taming the frontier and promoting Americanization, High Noon serves as an allegory for mid–twentieth century political fervor and mistrust. At its core, High Noon is the story of Carl Foreman, the film's author, and the isolation he felt while writing. The Film: It is not ambitious to say that every scene in High Noon could be used to support Foreman's message, but I will focus on three which are the most poignant. The fundamental plot of High Noon involves Marshal Will Kane searching for supporters in his town of Hadleyville to help fight Frank Miller and his thugs. Kane arrested Miller five years prior, but he was acquitted and returns to town with one goal: to kill Kane. The first of the three scene occurs only minutes into the film, but it characterizes Kane's entire search. The first hopeful recruit to defend Hadleyville is Judge Percy Mettick, a longtime friend and supporter of Kane, and the man who had just married Kane to Amy Fowler. Mettick answers his call to arms with a story of fifth century Athens where citizens remove a tyrant but welcome him and allow him to slaughter the elected government officials ... Halfway through my perilous rafting journey, there was a moment when time stood still. I witnessed a natural phenomenon which displayed the beauty of nature at its finest. During that moment, I realized the insignificance of humanity, and why we should respect the overwhelming power of nature. The Nantahala is a whitewater river nestled in a valley with steep mountains flanking it on all sides. The forest it was situated in is the only temperate rain forest east of the Mississippi River. The rafting Industry has adopted this river as its premier destination. I was a 14 year old Boy Scout on a three day camping trip in the Nantahala Gorge. The weather was cloudy with periodic rain showers throughout the day and night. The temperature was at the mid 80's but never got above the 90's. I was in a bright yellow raft shared amongst five of my companions and a rafting Guide who went by the name "Bones." "Bones" was a Caucasian man with dreads in his hair, tattoos of paddles shaped as a pirates cross on both of his arms, and was massively strong. We floated down the river like leaves down a stream; constantly fighting to stay upright and not be cast overboard by the restless aggression of the rapids. We were part of the way through a two hour journey down the Nantahala river. It had rained continuously throughout the trip, which meant we were soaked to the bone and fighting hypothermia. ... Expressionist paintings portray profound mental torment and have dark, gloomy undertones. The dark nature of his paintings is in part due to the fact that his father suffered from a mental illness, which profoundly impacted his upbringing. However, his paintings from about 1892 to 1908 reveal his interest in nature and are brighter than all of his previous work. Although she withdrew from treatment, the psychological community heavily impacted the outlook Highsmith had on her personal relationships in her life. This is especially prevalent in regards to her sexuality. Strangers on a Train, Highsmith's first novel, deals with both psychopathy and homosexuality. The main characters of this novel happen upon one another during a chance encounter on a train. Guy, the protagonist, meets Bruno. Symbolism In The Talented Mr. Ripley By Patricia Highsmith "The Talented Mr. Ripley" by Patricia Highsmith, set in 1950s in a somewhat vibrant, jazz influenced Italy, gives a vivid insight into the mind of a small–time conman turned psychopath. It also provides us with the central concepts of amorality, paranoia and how that survival and greed for money can turn almost ordinary people uncaring and self–indulgent. Highsmith's use of third person narrative is an effective technique and is used to expand on the thesis of morality in the novel . Tom Ripley, a man in his mid–20's, claims he is close friends with Richard "Dickie" Greenleaf, when in reality, he doesn't really know Dickie at all. It is the best movie shown in the class so far. It seems like a movie way ahead of its time for being made in 1952. It shows us even more background and Will's struggle to get people to help. Every time he fails to get someone to help, he loses more and more hope. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I agree with that because in a lot of movies I watch, I wonder how long it takes to do a certain thing but never tells us. The main point of his I do not agree with is "High Noon isn't really a masterpiece, and if you're a fan of more honest Westerns, it's hard not to notice Zinnemann's general lack of interest throughout" (Anderson, 11). A western movie shouldn't have the same plot repeated over. Zinnemann just put his own unique twist on the western just like everyone else should. Not only that, we don't know what a western town was actually like back in the day. So his movie could have been 100 percent accurate western movie for all we know. In the end he still recommend the movie to be watched if you have not seen it before and have it a 3 stars out of 4. I believe it is a pretty fair rating, but not for the points he made. Film Critic 2 – James Berardinelli In this review, he says High Noon is about loyalty and betrayal which I agree with since Will stays loyal to the town even though the town betrayed him by not helping him when he needed it most. Amy also stays loyal by helping Will in the final fight. He says High Noon can be seen as a play rather than a movie. You can say this about almost every movie so I would have to disagree with this. A point he brought up that was pretty interesting is "Miller had been so thoroughly demonized that the appearance of a normal (albeit tough–looking) man is a little disappointing."( Berardinelli, 12). • 41. Essay on High Noon For my at home movie I watched Hang em' High directed by Ted Post. It is considered a spaghetti western that was made in America. In comparison to the film we watched in class, High Noon directed by Fred Zinnemann. These two westerns had many similarities and differences. From differences in how the movie was actually shot, to the similarity of how both of the main characters are loners, these two movies connect all over on many different levels. High Noon was the story of a very brave man, Will Kane played by Gary Cooper, which is giving up his Sheriff position to become a homemaker with him wife. At the end of the movie Sheriff Kane throws down his badge in front of the whole town in disgrace, he doesn't even need to say a word, and he and Amy ride off together to start their new life. In the movie Hang em' High, Clint Eastwood plays the main character Jed Cooper. A group of men accuse him of stealing cattle and killing one of their neighbors. When he can't prove to them his innocence, they hang him. It just so happens that a U.S. Marshall was in the area and he saved Cooper's life. Then the Marshall brought him to the judge to see if he is guilty. Eventually, it was discovered that Cooper was innocent, and had bought the cattle from a criminal who killed the owner then sold the cattle to him. Cooper was finally released, but he now wanted revenge on the men who tried to lynch him. The judge tells Cooper to give their descriptions to one of his marshal's and they will try to find them, but Cooper feels that it's not enough. The judge warns Cooper about taking the law into his own hands. When he told the judge that he was a formal law man, and he knows the law, the judge offers Cooper a job as a Marshall, and he takes the job. After accepting the job, he goes around and tried to gather up all men that tried to hang him. Along the way he has many side adventures, and tests the limits of right and wrong. In the end after a good old fashion western shoot out, Cooper goes back to town and decides that he's done, or so we think. The judge made him realize ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Analysis Of The Book ' The Wild West : The Mythical Cowboy... Old western movies are the dominant delineate style of American movies, they are a wistful tribute to the previous years of the wide–ranging, barbaric western frontier. The western landscape and nature play an important role in the development of key aspects in the films, such as the setting and relationships between the characters. These aspects are how the setting is created, the shaping of the plot, and how the movie molds the human experiences and social relationships. Many historians like Richard Slotkin believe that all these aspects are what make up old western movies. These aspects will be supported with information from Slotkin's book "Gunfighter Nation", Will Wright's book "The Wild West: The Mythical Cowboy and Social Theory", John White's book "Westerns", and Jane Tompkin's book "West of Everything, The Inner life of Westerns" and various films which consist of William A. Wellman "The Ox–Bow Incident", Fred Zinnemann "High Noon", John Ford "The Searchers", Sam Peckinpah "The Wild Bunch", and Robert Altman "McCabe & Mrs.Miller". Old western movies are one of the most classic, acquiescent, and common American genres of mythic origins. Most settings in western movies are typically set in between Mojave Desert (which was in Southeastern California, Southern Nevada, and parts of Arizona and Utah) to Texas and Mexico of the North American frontier, but not all westerns were set in the desert of the south west. • 45. High Noon : A Formal Analysis Of High Noon Standing Your Ground: A Formal Analysis of High Noon Kane, the main character in High Noon is a Hero. He didn't slay dragons or walk through fire. He didn't conquer the world or go on an adventurous quest. However, he did something most people are afraid to do. He stood up for what he believed in regardless of whether he stood alone. Made by Carl Foreman, this movie contained a marshal named Kane. News went around town that Frank Miller, a criminal Kane put in prison a while back, was coming to town on the noon train to get his revenge. Instead of leaving town, he decided to stay and fight. He turned to the townspeople for help, but none lifted a finger. They were all concerned for their own safety. Nevertheless, despite all of the pleas from the people and his wife for him to leave town, Kane's plans remain unchanged. Kane was not a hero like Thor, or Wonder Woman, but the type of hero from real life; one who stood up for what he believed in, even if he stood alone. Foreman skillfully highlights the loneliness that Kane feels when facing Miller and his gang. Near the end of the movie, Kane was standing in the street waiting for Miller to arrive. Sweat was pouring down his face, and he was shaking with fear. Then, the camera slowly zooms out and the rest of the street is desolate. There is nothing but silence as the people fearfully wait in hiding for Kane to face Miller. Similarly, other works of literature praise those who fight for what they believe in, even if they ... • 49. Moralism In The Movie High Noon High Noon, the shocking American film from the 1950's, shines light on the true nature of one standing their ground when the world is against them. This movie was written to represent the Red Scare, when Hollywood members were falsely accused of being communist. These actors were forced to give names of others who they thought were "communists" or else they would be punished. If the "communist" actors gave out names, however, they would be ruining other's careers. Some of the people refused to give names. Like the Marshall in the movie High Noon, these brave actors stood up for what they believed in. Nevertheless, the other members of Hollywood around were not very willing to support. They were like the townspeople in High Noon. They didn't want to risk their own reputation and safety. In the film, Zinnemann successfully revealed the hardships of those falsely convicted, and exposed the hearts of those who saw the false conviction, but did nothing about it in order to protect themselves. Directed by Fred Zinnemann, this thrilling motion picture's main character is a marshal named Cain, played by the actor Gary Cooper. He's asked by the townspeople to relocate because a few villains plan to kill him at high noon. Instead of heeding to the advice of the townspeople, Cain stands up for what he believes in, and stays to fight all four of the villains. People slowly remove themselves from him, and refuse to fight by his side. He has to face his enemies alone. High Noon is like many other works of literature which praised heroes who fought the fight alone. Helen Hannah, in the movie Judgment was mocked and put on trial for her religious beliefs. Tousle, in the novel Straw into Gold, broke out of the crowd, and spoke on behalf of innocent people being claimed as rebels. These heroes were ready and willing to put their life on the line for what they believe. However, it was not easy for any of them. Just like the other authors, Zinnemann wanted the audience to see the internal struggle the hero was having. The look on the marshal's face, the weariness in his gait, and his conflicting thoughts when he walked into the bar, and punched one of the men in the face, and was about to leave on the horse, but changed his ... Its tenet is based on Sigmund Freud's structural model of the psyche which identifies the id, the ego and the superego as the three theoretical constructs in terms of whose activity and interaction mental life is described. According to such model, the irrational, instinctual trends of the mind are the id; the rational, realistic part of the psyche is the ego; and its critical and moralizing function is the superego. By applying such Freudian concepts to Tom Ripley, the protagonist in Patricia Highsmith's The Talented Mr. Ripley, the reader is better able to understand the forces ... His common sense tells him that, "...if he only hadn't been in such a hurry and so greedy, if he only hadn't misjudged the relationship between Dickie and Marge so stupidly, or had simply waited for them to separate of their own volition, then none of this would have happened, and he could have lived with Dickie for the rest of his life, travelled and lived and enjoyed living for the rest of his life." (Highsmith 137) Tom's ego helps him to understand that he cannot always get what he wants immediately and that if he had compromised and waited, he might have been happier, and it is this realization that makes him feel isolated and alone. By the end of the novel, Tom's ego resurfaces and he changes his attitude toward others. While before he only thought of what he wanted, he now "...was inspired to spend hours with [Mrs. Cartwright] in the deck chair, talking to her and listening to her talk about her life in England and Greece..." (Highsmith 267) As Tom realizes that the evidence that has been unveiled thus far in the murders is pointing towards his guilt, he begins to reason that his new life may come to an end and he recognizes other people's solitude because he too feels the same way. While Tom's id and ego are at odds with each other, his superego never fully develops for he sometimes experiences guilt for his wrongdoings but does not accept full responsibility ... There were two hypotheses for both plants. The hypothesis for the red cabbage was that there would be multiple pigments evident. The hypothesis for the spinach was similar in that there would be different pigments present. Both hypotheses were accepted in that there were multiple pigments found on the filter paper of each sample. Major scientific concepts in this lab include chromatography and pigments. Chromatography is the division of mixtures, solution, and others into its different components. Chromatography is often used to separate a solution into its separate parts. Chromatography filters complicated compounds accurately without involving a difficult process so it is often used. In this lab, we used chromatography to separate the different pigments in the plants. When looking at plants, the colors of the plants are the colors that are reflected from the different wavelengths of the light spectrum. The colors that are not evident are the colors the plants absorb and use as energy. Pigments are the compounds of a plant the enable the reflected colors to be evident. These pigments function to capture light energy from the sun to enable the plants to undergo photosynthesis. Experiment Methods 1. The ability to see, hear, or become aware of something through one of the five senses (Kandel, Schwartz, & Jessell, 2000). In other words, it is the process of interpreting and organizing sensory information. Perception must be understood according to figure–ground, similarity, proximity, continuity, and other organizing principles. At work in the interpretation of sensory stimuli are other perceptual phenomena such as perceptual constancy, a phenomenon which occurs in the perception of size, shape, color, and brightness; depth perception, another phenomenon based on binocular and monocular cues; and the perception of motion (Wood, 2008). One of the brain's primary functions is to obtain biologically important information from the various sensory inputs. The brain of a human is provided with sufficient information about a variety of things such as light, sound, the atmosphere's chemical composition, temperature, and things such as head orientation, limb position, the chemical composition of the bloodstream, among other things. Specialized sensors project signals into the brain when they detect sensory modalities. • 59. Kitagawa Utamaro And Paul Gauguin's Use Of Color Techniques Describe specifically what the term "arbitrary color" means, a color used at random for objects that have a common color, such as, a tree has green leaves, but we choose to make the leave purple or making the sun black, the clouds green, or the sky yellow, etc. Who was the first artist to employ the technique? I would have to say Katsushika Hokusai, Kitagawa Utamaro, and And¯o Hiroshige had a role in the technique. The technique was used in And¯o Hiroshige color woodcut print, ("Moon Pine at Ueno from One Hundred Views of Famous Places in Edo"), (Pg. 27), because of the color use. The colors seem to be out of place, such as, the sky's appearance being that of black, blue, and green, also the tree appears to have a redder tent than what we would normally see in nature. Hiroshige and other Japanese artists had gotten young artist thinking about color, arbitrary color, and pure color. One of the artist that took the color techniques from color woodcut prints and Japanese prints was Paul Gauguin. Gauguin was truly the first to employ arbitrary color techniques, which can be seen in his (Vision after the Sermon), (Pg. 60), with vivid red paint in the back ground, splashes of green and blue tenting on the nuns faces, these colors are not known in nature, and they are non–descriptive. It just isn't natural to see these colors placed this way. Thus, Gauguin's paintings influenced younger artist and affected their ideas in the Nabis and Fauve periods. Identifying The Unknown Microorganism Given By The Instructor Unknown #2 Lab Report Danielle Gudino BIO 211L Section 6 11/20/2014 Introduction This experiment was about identifying the unknown microorganism given by the instructor. This exercise is important to understand and apply all previous laboratory practices, as well as those learned in our first unknown exercise, for identifying the given unknown organism. With the knowledge and practice of performing biochemical and physiological identifying tests, I was able to determine the unknown bacteria. For this experiment, I was given Unknown #12 and used a series of tests to determine the specimen, further explained in this report. Materials and Methods For the Gram stain, I used a microscope slide, wash bottle of water, clothespin, and the reagents crystal violet, Gram's iodine, ethyl alcohol, and safranin to observe whether the organism was Gram negative or positve. The method was placing and heat fixing a loopful of the unknown organism on the slide. The organisms were then stained with crystal violet for a minute, rinsed off, flooded with iodine for a minute, rinsed off, decolorized with alcohol for 30 seconds, and then finally stained with the counter–stain, safranin, for a minute. I streaked the unknown onto a TSA plate and incubated at 35 C. With a pure colony, we performed a second gram stain procedure and inoculated it into a TSA slant. I used BCP Lactose broth and a loop to perform a BCP Lactose test. The broth was inoculated with a loopful of the unknown and incubated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rainsford's impulse was to hurl himself down like a panther, but he saw the general's right hand held something metallic–a small automatic pistol" (Connell 19). During this part of the story, Zaroff is hunting Rainsford. Zaroff was able follow Rainsford to his hideout. I can tell that Zaroff was trying to kill him because he had a gun with him. By Jeramie Fisher The sun and moon have always been a constant presence and source of inspiration for human beings, ranging from deities to simply providing warmth and a beautiful sight to see. Humans have always had opinions, some stronger than others, and today that topic will be discussed in reference to a popular video game series, Pokemon. Now in order to keep opinions from being too broad and contradictory The subject will be focusing on the Sun based Pokemon against its counterpart; because face it every Pokemon is weak to something and for the most part Pokemon matches are decided by what someone brings to the table. Execution, which is by far the most factual way to prove that Sun Pokemon are indeed superior to Moon Pokemon, is placing them directly against each other in an actual fight without the aid of others and seeing who has the upper hand when facing off solo. It wasn't until she saw Mason and Casey sleeping beside her on the pillows that she remembered everything. The dancing and food and the new hideout. The alcohol and the laughing. The bright light. The loud noises. Everything. The world has died back to normal, no longer having the sharp clarity it had the night before. Her mouth was really dry though, so she climbed down the ladder, trying not to wake the others. She quietly crept to the mini–fridge in the corner of the room and pulled out a glass of water. They didn't have any Tylenol, so this would have to do for now. She ungraciously chugged the bottle of water and sighed, plopping down on the nearest beanbag and closing her eyes. There she sat for what seemed to be hours. It must have only been about 30 minutes though because when Casey plopped down beside her the sun was exactly where it was when she closed her eyes. The first thing she sees when she opens her eyes is a concerned look on her best friends face. "Hey how you feeling, if I knew you were such a lightweight I wouldn't have let you drink that much," she pauses and smiles a little bit, "I didn't know you'd pass out" So they think I passed out because of the alcohol. How am I supposed to explain the bright light and the sounds? I'll sound just as crazy as my mother... After a moment Evangeline decides to go along with it,"Yeah, I guess I overestimated how much I could handle" Casey rolls her eyes and mumbles something about never being able to take her anywhere. They lay there in silence, watching the sun rise and Evangeline smiles. She's finally sixteen. "Clothes” by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni Essay The short store "Clothes" by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni is about a young Indian woman, Sumita, and her cultural transition to America that is symbolized by her clothes and the color of her clothes. The traditional Indian attire for a woman is a sari and each one has its own purpose. Her clothes also indicate her progression from daughter, to wife, to woman. The story starts off with the bride to be in a yellow sari preparing to meet her future husband by bathing in a lake. She describes the yellow sari as a sunflower after rain. [talk about Indian tradition and beliefs about Indian women becoming Americanized] In some countries white signifies purity and cleanliness. In others it is the color of royalty or deities. Sumita's husband owns a 7–11 store in California. He is constantly having to work the night shift to try to earn extra money so that they can move out on their own. One night he is held at gun point and shot to death. To mourn his death Sumita wears a white sari. During the mourning of his death they perform a bangle breaking ceremony. [talk about the ceremony and what It means] They break the bangles that are on Sumita's arm and send multi– colored shards flying all over the room and on the sheet that her husband lies under. The multi– colored shards might represent the fact that right now her life has shattered like the bracelets and she is scattered in a place that she is not familier with. You can now tell that Sumita has become pretty Americanized compared to when she first arrived in the United States. For instance, she is talking about getting an education and working in a school teaching in front of a classroom of blond kids in her cream–and–brown American dress. She is beginning to make more decisions on her own and step away from her beliefs. Here the color cream and the color brown are making her feel more americanized. • 78. Summary Of Western Women In High Noon Woman played a crucial role in the building blocks of the western mystique but they were often excluded from the mystique. Their role as homemakers and guardians of morals and culture on the frontier is undeniable, and female pioneers' lives were not as dramatic as the western males. Understandably, pioneer women also faced loneliness and despair more frequently than men did, and their mortality rate was higher due to the fact they had more boundaries and limitations. Woman focused on relationships and maintaining stability during a crisis. Which was far different from a male point of focus. Although both High Noon by Fred Zinnemann and "Madonna of the Prairie" by William Koerner convey the Western life of a pioneer woman, Director Fred Zinnemann depicts a western woman who breaks away from western morals and values to do the right thing, whereas Artist William Koerner depicts an authentic pioneer woman who stays within her morals as a western woman. In the film High Noon by Fred Zinnemann, Will Kane finds himself personally compelled to duel his enemy Frank Miller when he realizes the townspeople of Hadleyville turned cowardly when the time came for a showdown. Will Kane and Frank miller and his bandits duel with their guns outside as everyone hides away from the bullets. • 80. Compare And Contrast High Noon And The Most Dangerous Game Humans. All humans come in different sizes, shapes, beliefs, and ethnicities. This makes each human very different but, it can also make us very similar. Just like humans, books can be classified into different characteristics also. Instead of using the way we classify humans, books are classified by things like theme, symbols, and setting. This is how we are able to compare and contrast the two stories High Noon and "The Most Dangerous Game". In High Noon and " The Most Dangerous Game", they have very similar, but, very different ideas on theme, isolation, and conflict. Out of all of the themes in the film High Noon, this one theme stands out in particular to me. Will Kane, "They're making me run. I never run from anybody before" (Foreman 283). This ... The short story "The Most Dangerous Game" takes place on a island in the Caribbean. Rainsford ends up falling off of his boat and swimming to the nearest island. Where he then meets Zaroff who challenges him to a life or death game. "If he does, and if we run– they'll just come after us. Four of them, and we'd be all alone on the prairie" ( Foreman 26). The film High Noon is set in a Western Town that is in the middle of nowhere. Will Kane who is a Marshall figures out the person he sent to jail is coming back to get him. Both themes are focused on two different topics. Now you would think these two stories are nothing alike, but both main characters have something that stops them from running away from there enemies. This something is isolation. With nowhere to run, Kane is left to wait at the town for Miller. And with no way to escape the island, Rainsford is forced to play the fight or die game with Zaroff. Even if, both settings are completely opposite, they do share the setting characteristic of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
