In 1957 in Little Rock Arkansas schools were integrated for the first time. The Little Rock Nine
were a group that started the integration process. This group had nine black girls and boys that went
to Central High school to start the integration. This was a huge contribution to the civil rights
movement. These events were illuminated by using photographs, news, and television. Although
the events were not always portrayed in the perspective of the African Americans. With the
Integration came a very strong up rise segregationists, they tried to stop any movement forward of
the integration of schools and the civil rights movement. In the book A Mighty Long Way governor
Faubus is shutting down all schools to stop the integration from happening.

Brazil s President Dilma Rousseff Stalls Betting Legislation
Brazil s President Dilma Rousseff Stalls Betting Legislation
Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff has put a lid on the progress of the 671 2015 legislation that
was expected to offer provisions for the regulated spots betting and fixed odds. The president
killed off an attempt to legalize sports betting by vetoing 36 clauses before signing a bill that was
earlier approved by the country s senate. President Dilma fears that the bill lacks proper
mechanisms to prevent possible social impact. According to Ted Menmuir, the president cited that
law makers needed more time to review the context and framework of the laws. Government
ministers have also supported the presidents sentiments, by stating that legislation 671 2015 was far
from perfect, thus needed more time for assessment so as to help the government understand the
impact of licensing sports betting and to protect consumers.
Over the past decade, online sports betting has exploded globally and in Brazil thanks to the
improvement s in technology and growth of internet to the mass market. Different countries and
territories often exhibit different approaches regarding the legality regulation of gambling, over last
decades, Brazilian authorizes have taken a less proactive and restrictive approach to online gambling
. However, the changes being witnessed at the global marketplace has forced the citizens and
authorities in Brazil to start rethinking their strategies. Although the regulatory environment

Enrique s Journey Essay
Journalist and author, Sonia Nazario s novel Enrique s Journey has sparked tremendous attention to
the immigration laws of the United states.Immigration and immigrants are the integral parts of the
United States, which constitutes to the cultural and economic prosperity of the country.Yet, people
segregate immigrants based on race, color and culture; especially, illegal immigrants that are
labeled criminals, drug addicts and rapists.Through Enrique s journey, Sonia Nazario illustrated the
illegal journey of a young boy named Enrique to reunite with his mother in the United States

Bacterial Enumeration of Various Meat Products
The objective of this study was to record a quantitative approximation of how many bacteria are
present within various samples of meat products. The bacterial content of each meat sample is vital
information in regards to improvements within the meat processing industry, and gives reason for
changing or sustaining current feeding and processing conditions. Understanding which methods
taken in processing meat that is sold to the public is a matter of public health, as obtaining and
maintaining lower levels of bacteriain meats will reduce the likelihood of succumbing to illness
from the consumption of such products by the end consumer. In a previous study focusing on the
levels of antibiotic resistant bacteria found within randomly... Show more content on

The number of colonies was then divided by the dilution number of the sample, and the bacterial
content was then recorded onto a group data chart.
RESULTS.
Among the analyzed spread plates, samples from meat source A appeared to have the highest
numbers of colonies, while each enumeration held a direct relationship with the dilution number,
steadily decreasing in value as predicted, but averaging at a calculated quantity of 1.47E+07
bacteria (Table 1). Samples from meat source B showed similar trends. Samples from meat
sources C and D did not provide statistically significant results, and thus provided inconclusive
data; each of these spread plates had a recorded sample average of 0.00E+00 to represent this
(Chart 1). The pour plates had dynamic results, the most interesting of which arose from source
A2; this pour plate at a concentration of 1.00E 03 grew colonies that were too numerous to
count, then decreased to 77 colonies at the next dilution level of 1.00E 04, but increased again at
the following dilution of 1.00E 05 (Table 1). Source A3 was similarly dynamic at dilution levels
1.00E 03 and 1.00E 04, with colony counts recorded at 188 and 268, respectively, and then falling
to levels that were not statistically significant (Table 2). This data contradicts the predicted trend;
however, all other recorded data followed the ideal trend.

Nature Treatment of Risk
Nature Treatment of Risk:
It is impossible to win the great prizes of life without running risks. So it s needless to say the
influence of risk in our daily life as well as the business world itself. Well here are different risks
and their nature briefly discussed with requisite statements.
Risk:
An acclaimed quote of Ralph Waldo Emerson about risk says, I dip my pen in the blackest ink,
because I am not afraid of falling into my inkpot. Without being any more rhetoric here s what
Oxford English dictionary states about risk Risk is (Exposure to) the possibility of loss, injury, or
other adverse or unwelcome circumstance; a chance or situation involving such a possibility.

Pure risk: types * Personal risk is the risk directly originated from an individual. * Property Risk
is the risk affecting the owner of the property * Liability risk involves the threat of the company
or individual having to bear the consequences of damage or of breaching standards due to
operations, a product, an act or neglect Burden of risk on society:
To get rid of the burden of risk on society the size of an emergency fund must be increased. And
also society is deprived of certain goods and services.
Methods of Handling Risk: Avoidance of probable event can cause probable loss. For example, the
refusal to fly in the fear of crash can be considered as Avoidance. Well sometimes it may not be
very practical! Risk Retention can either be active or passive. An individual may retain all or part
of a given risk.
Noninsurance Transfers: Followed by these methods, risk can be handled * Transfer of risk by
contracts * Hedging price risks * Incorporation of a business firm Loss control: Loss control
consists of 2 major parts. * Loss prevention * Loss reduction Insurance: Insurance is the most
practical way of risk handling. Here risk is transferred to another party (mainly insurer). The
objective is to reduce the pure risk of

Hunter Gatherers Research Paper
Inquiry 2 The Hunter Gatherer
Until around the year of 10 000 BCE all of our ancestors were only hunter gatherers. Hunter
gatherers, were people who hunted for all things, in order to survive, ranging from animal meat,
their skin, nuts, fruits and much, much more. When the food on their living area became smaller
in quantity and out of season, they would move onto different territory. Our ancestors of hunter
gatherers were reported to of lived a very successful lifestyle for more than 100 000 years.
Some historians have a theory of their own, this is that the change in a hunter gatherers lifestyle to
having a settled life of farming was one of the worst mistakes humans had ever made in history.

Eating plants also made up a big part of many humans diets. Some early Humans even figured
out a way to use plants as medicine. Wild fruit that humans found was one of the simplest
sources of sugar for early people. Just as we all enjoy a bit of sugar, the early children may of
enjoyed eating the sweet, ripe fruit. When people found fruit and brought it back to the camp, they
would purposely scatter fruit seeds so that it would of encouraged fruits to grow nearby.
Early humans almost hunted anything in sight that climbed, crawled, walked, flew or swam.
Animals were a main source of food, which was needed to survive in climates, especially cold
climates. That meant that humans had to invent effective weaponry for their hunting, so that they
could stay alive.
Arrow Points
Sharp edges made from stones and bones had been attached to the end of arrows or spears so that it
was able to cut through the animals skin.
Bow hunting
As the Stone Age neared its end, bows began to be invented. They had needed a lot more time
and effort to make, but on the upside the hunter didn t have to be as close to their prey as they did
with spears, this way was a much safer to

The Usage Of Euphemisms And Colloquialisms
We use many euphemisms/colloquialisms in our everyday communication. A euphemism is a
nicer word or phrase that is used to make a sensitive topic less harsh according to dictionary.com
(1995). Colloquialisms are words or phrases that are used to express something other than the
words literal meaning as stated by vocabulary.com (year unknown). Most of the time we hardly
know we use such terms or phrases nor do we know where they originate from. The usage of
euphemisms and colloquialisms is a worldwide tendency. Not only is it a universal thing but the
wide variety of social groups/communities are very diverse in what phrases they use and how they
use them. A certain wordI use in many ways, the word I am going to base this writing off of, is a
colloquialism. It is a word that is a very common use back in my home town, Kewaunee
Wisconsin, and one I get very strange looks for here in North Dakota. In this paper I am going to
describe to you: how I use balls and ballsy in conversation with my social groups and what many
different meanings, the origins of the word, the overall reflection of the colloquialism along with
other words that may have a hidden power. The word balls, as well as the word ballsy, can be
used as a colloquialism in numerous ways and be interpreted differently in context and across
cultures. Some may think the term to be crude or vulgar, but I use it without thinking because I
grew up around the term being used. One of the main phrases I use is,

Super Ego In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies
Freud, developed a way of thinking that broke down the mind into the id, ego, and super ego. In
William Golding s book, Lord of the Flies this theory explains the boys descent into savagery
because of the uneven balance of the egos. The id represented the instinctual desires that required
immediate satisfaction. The super ego represented moral standards and rule following. Lastly the
ego is the healthy balance between the ids desires and the superegos moderation. The ego and the
superego were too weak, Freud explains the breakdown of the boys turning into savages because
the egos were off balance given that, Freud describes the descent the best. In the novel, Jack
illustrates the id. This can be first noticed when Jack adventures off to... Show more content on

The ego was supposed to be a healthy balance between the id s wants and the super ego s self
control. A time he balanced the id and the super ego is when the council is telling Ralph to step
down as chief and he says, I ought to give up being chief. Hear em (93). This shows he is the ego.
The super ego would have instantly stepped down, and the id would ve shot down any
rebellions. Ralph considers what is best for the group, making him a plain ego. Another tim this
connection is visible is when Ralph goes back to get Piggy s glasses from jack and says, I ve
come to see about the fire... and Piggy s specs. (176). This shows he is stabilizing Piggy, who
wouldn t have the guts to come face to face with Jack, and also between Jack, who wouldn t have
made an effort to get someone s glasses back. This is the final time Ralph grasps his ego title,
because after this moment, Piggy is killed and Ralph is tracked down by Jack. With out Ralph, or
the ego, in control, Jack, the id, becomes controlling which leads to destruction. This demonstrates
that without authority, or a true balance between the id and super ego, human development breaks

Summary Of Nancy Mairs On Being A Cripple
Juney Ngan When undermined by an incurable disease, it s difficult to think positively. Especially
with multiple sclerosis, where life adjustments including changes to communication, daily routines,
even basic bodily functions are necessary, it s likely to approach situations hopelessly. However,
essayist Nancy Mairs provides her own detailed anecdote on accepting these lifelong impairments.
In her essay, On Being a Cripple, Mairs develops her attitude toward her condition through multiple
accounts of asyndetons, figurative language, and her personal experience. Through her careful use
of asyndetons, Mairs makes it evident that multiple sclerosis has taken a lot away from her.

She recalls the beginning stages of the condition, when she started to trip and drop things (p2).
It was new to her, considering that tripping and dropping things isn t exactly normal on a regular
basis. Doing so didn t necessarily make it easier to continue all her everyday activities, either.
Rather than resting herself, Mairs mentions how she spends a lot of time in extremis and,
impatient with limitation, I tend to ignore my fatigue until my body breaks down in some way
and forces rest (p5). She lists what she is forced to endure everyday, aware that the common man
doesn t have to put up with what she suffers. Despite the burden the disease has placed on her,
Mairs still considers herself lucky so far. My world has, of necessity, been circumscribed by my
losses, but the terrain left me has been ample enough for me to continue many of the activities
that absorb me (p4). She suggests that things are still looking up for her; instead of dwelling on
what she isn t able to do anymore, Mairs demonstrates that she still looks forward to other
specialties. Recognizing that it s a lifelong strain, she shows persistence and willingness to adjust
her lifestyle as the disease

Civil War
The American Civil War, that took place from 1861 to 1865, marked one of the most important
changes in American history, it was fought between the Union and the Confederate States of
America. A total of even southern states that left the Union to form their own country in order to
protect the institution of slavery. The Civil War transformed the country s economy, politics,
women, African Americans, along with major breakthroughs in technology. The war increased
northern prosperity, whereas the South s entire society quickly collapsed. The war s impact on

The Union developed their own country in order to abolish the institution of slavery. The union was
not going to allow the confederates to practice slavery. Many northern states favored the abolition
of slavery. The southerners favored the institution of slavery and favored the power of state
governments over the federal government. This caused a split in political parties and led to the
formation of new parties in the United States. The Constitutional Union Party rose and was formed
by former Whigs. The Constitutional Union Party s stance held in preserving the union by refusing
to take sides on slavery. When it became obvious that support for the party was weak, many in the
Constitutional Union Party attempted to join with Northern Democrats who supported
appeasement. The United States defeated the Confederate States and abolished slavery nationwide.(

North and South joined as volunteers and signed up to work as nurses. It was the first time in

Essay on Corruption in US Government
The story of the founding of the United States is a story nearly every United States citizen
understands at the very least a rough version of. The story of how a group of patriots overthrew
standing British power who were invading their rights to privacy, taxing them unfairly, and overall
not giving the colonials a square deal. This story gives American s pride in their identity and
government. It also serves to legitimize the current US Government, for the current officials follow
the same Constitution set up by those Patriots who fought the British. However, since the founding
of the US Government there have been numerous cases in which the government has betrayed its

The story quickly lost national prominence, and became mostly a local Chicago news story
shortly after the murder. It took several years before the case was finally brought to court and
Hampton s family awarded over a million dollars, which is to say the least an admission of guilt
by the US government. This was hardly the consequence Hampton would have liked to see his
murder have. Someone should have been held responsible, and the US should have stepped back
and re evaluated their role in society. In the view of today s media, Hampton s death is largely
attributed to J. Edgar Hoover, the FBI chief during the 60 s. While Hoover was largely the
mastermind behind Hampton s murder and the COINTELPRO program that made it possible, by
no means did he act alone. In such a bureaucratic system, it s rare for any government official to
be solely responsible for any action by the US government. The other officials in the FBI were
plenty cognizant to recognize what was going on was wrong. The more important individual who

Common threats to be aware of are:
Botnets A collection of software robots, or bots , that creates an army of infected computers
(known as zombies ) that are remotely controlled by the originator. Yours may be one of them and
you may not even know it. They go undetected. They can send spam emails with viruses attached

your Internet Service Provider, as they will be able to help mitigate.
Hacking Actions taken by someone to gain unauthorized access to a computer. The availability of
information online on the tools, techniques, and malware makes it easier for even non technical
people to undertake malicious activities. It is the process by which cyber criminals gain access to
your computer. What you can do to resolve this threat is find weaknesses (or pre existing bugs) in

Malware One of the more common ways to infiltrate or damage your computer. It is Malicious
software that infects your computer, such as computer viruses, worms, Trojan horses, spyware, and

Hilary Clinton s End
The circus that has captivated our attention for over a year has finally ceased. On Tuesday night,
the Presidential Election came to an end, with Trump coming out victorious. The three articles by
the New York Times depict how the majority of America felt before and after the election.
The first article, written the day before the election by Michael Barbaro, Ashley Parker and Amy

s End . The title of this piece oozed the confidence that Hilary Clinton would win the Presidential
Election. The article portrays the election as over, with Hilary Clinton coming out victorious.

years, you can hear the emotion seeping out in the words they choose. One example of this is when

The Pros And Cons Of Nazi Medical Experiments
During Hitler s mass killing of about six million, Nazis imprisoned many Jews and other races they
thought inferior to them in concentration camps. Within the walls of these camps, the Nazi doctors
had many opportunities to experiment on the prisoners at the camp in various ways. During the
Holocaust, the Nazis performed many different medical experiments on the prisoners at the
concentration camps which proved to lacerate and scar the victims of the medical experiment.
One type of experiment that the Nazis performed on the prisoners of the concentration camps could
fall into the classification of twin experiments. These experiments dealt with twins going through
examination and observation. Taken for examination, the twins entered the concentration camps for
three days of what must have been psychological examination and three days of laboratory
experiments ( The Holocaust: Nazi Medical Experiments , 1998). During these three days when the
experiments took place, the doctors photographed the twins to compare features between the twins.
After the twins went through examination and the process of photographing, Mengele and his
collaborators dispatched them with a single injection of chloroform to the heart, (Tyson, 2000).
Mengele conducted most of the twin experiments at the Auschwitz camp because he found twins
very intriguing, so he dedicated his time to their experiments. During and after the injection, care
was taken to ensure the twins died at the same time. The

fascinated people since time began. It appears there is so much more that we just don t see. We see
images in paintings, and some that are centuries old, all over the world of people and animals

depicting death are angelic and beautiful and some range all the way to the macabre and bizarre.

Undisputedly all of us are going to face our mortality and Dr. Kenneth Ring explains that From a
social perspective, we know that each one of us will one day face our moment of death.
Therefore, it is imperative that we provide scientific answers to the question of what happens
when we die. (Ring 11) But the problem is we just don t know the answers to these questions. Is the
brain really dead or do we live on in the form of what we term a spirit?
Finally there is a new study underway that is called Aware, an acronym for Awareness During
Resuscitation. Founded by Dr. Sam Parnia, the AWARE study seeks to discover whether out of
body experiences really happen and, if so, how resuscitation practices can be improved so that
more people can be revived after being pronounced clinically dead. Dr. Parnia was asked a series
of questions about what clinical death is and what happens when we die. I wonder about the
ethics of this statement. From a medical point of view, latest discoveries have provided doctors
with the ability to push back the boundaries of death and reverse the process of death once it has
started. With ever improving scientific discoveries, we will be able to bring even more people
back to life from clinical death. In order for the medical profession to treat its patients more

The Delphi Technique is based on the Hegelian Principle of achieving Oneness of Mind through a
three step process of thesis, antithesis, and synthesis. In thesis and antithesis, all present their
opinion or views on a given subject, establishing views and opposing views. In synthesis, opposites
are brought together to form the new thesis. All participants are then to accept ownership of the
new thesis and support it, changing their own views to align with the new thesis. Through a
continual process of evolution, Oneness of Mind will supposedly occur.
The theory of the Delphi and the reality of the Delphi are, obviously, quite different the reality
being that Oneness of Mind does not occur but only the illusion of Oneness of Mind with those
who refuse to be Delphi d being alienated from participating in the process.

Understanding The Experience Of Emergency Management And...
Abstract
Collaboration involves various groups or groups of people working together to accomplish a
desired outcome. It is a bit like teamwork. By strengthening connections during an emergency
crisis, you have the ability to be more effective, faster, produce more, and have more personnel
available. Collaboration offers more innovation and experience to a situation. This paper will
discuss the roles of those that were involved in the collaborative efforts of FEMA. The basic
reasoning for this paper is to provide knowledge and understanding the experience of emergency
management and collaboration that took place during Hurricane Sandy.
Introduction Hurricane Sandy pushed across New York coast and left a devastating trail behind.
There devastation was so great that it caused federal, local, and regional levels to develop plans
and strategies for future crisis. An emergency situation on a magnitude as Hurricane Sandy created
a collaboration of many emergency services. FEMA, Red Cross, Department of Transportation,
and many local agencies were involved with managing the chaos caused by the storm.
Collaboration was utilized during the occurrence of the storm and after the storm. Several of the
agencies and their involvement will be described.
FEMA had more than 1900 staff members working and responding to the crisis of Hurricane Sandy.
Personnel assisted in the recovery operations, research and rescue, and displacement housing. Evans
has states that FEMA

Birds In The Scarlet Ibis By James Hurst
The Scarlet Ibis is written by James Hurst is a short story that takes place on a cotton farm in the
south during World War 1. A boy named Doodle dreams about flying because he is not very
mobile. The author uses different types of birds to compare Doodle too. James Hurst used
flying as a metaphor for Doodle throughout the whole story. Since Doodle couldn t mobilize like
the other boys, he dreamed about flying. Brother said, Although Doodle learned to crawl, he
showed no signs of walking, but he wasn t idle(3). Doodle started to walk when he was 5 years
old, but before that, his older brother had to pull him around in a gocart his father had made. His
brother taught him how to walk out of embarrassment. They were talking about lies and dreams
when brother mentioned, People in his stories all had wings and flew wherever they wanted to
go(6). Doodle had a huge imagination when it came to flying. In the story, he dreamed about a boy

Why Movement Matters By Rae Pico
After reading over the two articles: Why Movement Matters by Rae Pica and Learning Through
Music: The Support of Brain Research by Elizabeth Carlton, it reveals a cohesion in learning
music and a child s movements. In the first article, Why Movement Matters by Rae Pica, the
author expresses a shocking idea I have never think about to which that the majority of [the] people
will never see the movement as a top priority in children s lives and education. This is interesting
for me because as a parent myself, I see that the development of children s movement is really
important because most of the time, in order for a child to perform a task, he/she requires and be
able to move. Not only that but when a child learns to move, his/her motor

Toys R Us And Babies
Toys R Us is one of the leading companies that provides toys, video games, dolls, action figures,
learning games, building blocks, and many other toys that a kid can ever dream of. It is
considered to be an American toy store which was founded and headquartered in Wayne, New
Jersey back in 1948. This company now has over 866 Toys R Us and Babies R Us stores in the
United States and Puerto Rico, and 750 international stores and over 245 licensed stores in 37
countries. With all toys that each Toys R Us stores has in store, the company developed a strategy
to depreciate its assets. For this reason, the following mini case study will demonstrate its
depreciationmethods that the company has developed.

The way that they record depreciation and amortization is by using the straight line method over
the shorter of the estimated useful lives of their assets or the terms of the respective leases. As we
have learned, straight line method is one of the types of ways that a company can depreciate their
assets. This method considers depreciation as a function of time rather than a function of usage.
Because this method is known to be one of the simplest, many companies often use it, including
Toys R Us. The straight line procedure is also often considered to be the most conceptually
appropriate. The straight line method often results in a major objection because it rests on two
tenuous assumptions. The two include: The asset s economic usefulness is the same each year, and
the maintenance and repair expense is essentially the same each period. Another problem that arises
from using the straight line method is that distortions in the rate of return analysis (income/assets)

Analysis Of The Episode Harley And Ivy From Batman The...
The episode Harley and Ivy from Batman the Animated Series is full of interesting ideas and
exciting calls to action for its audience. Poison Ivy and her adventures with Harley Quinn not only
explore what it means to be a virtuous character but also question what it means to be and
independent and strong woman. Ivy specifically acts as the main example of female empowerment
and throughout the entire. While the author of the episode, Paul Dini, and the director of the
episode, Boyd Kirkland, do not tackle the feminist goals of this episode in totally flawless ways,
they still do a good job of using Poison Ivy s character to asks the audience, specifically the female
audience, to encourage female friendship, fight sexism, and questions genderroles and what it
means to be a virtuous and empowered woman. In this episode Harley and Ivy become partners in
crime, but they also become living partners in Ivy s home, they seem to enjoy sharing the space and
are seen drinking coffee together among other homey activities. In the scenes when they are home
together, they both looked relaxed, comfortable, and happy with each other. Neither of them wear
any of their regular villain outfits, but instead trade their crime causing fashion for big comfy t
shirts. I would argue that they become romantic partners and because of this they become the
perfect team. They decide to work together, they become the Queens of Crime, robbing museums
and stealing money, and they become more powerful

Jessica Watson s True Spirit
Life is composed of dreams, elaborate to simplistic. Many people go after them with no
hesitation, others are not as eager. Fear and doubt can lead most to not accomplish dreams or

everyone else that anything can be accomplished with hard work and effort. Her voyage was not
just rainbows and sunshine; she had an over whelming amount of backlash, but she persevered.

When the water is stagnant and quiet, that is when the trouble comes. Storms aren t the cause of
most sailing crashes; it is the calmness that is dangerous (Lochhaas 1). The saying the calm
before the storm might have actually been made for sailors. Jessica wanted waves to come so
she could learn and do something exciting. Many people were right in the danger side of sailing
what they failed to realize was the type of danger. Sailing has been part of Jessica s life since she
can remember and sailing has been around since mankind can remember.
Having her home on the water was not the only reason Jessica fell in love with sailing, it was
also the people who had sailed before her. Kay Cottee has been a role model for her since she
started. Kay Cottee has made history in the world of sailing achievements the first woman to sail
around the world solo, unassisted and without stopping (Mundle 1). Cottee wanting to become
the first woman to accomplish this must have been a steep uphill battle. Sailing has been a male

Screening For Alcohol And Drug Use For Prenatal Care
Since 1985 about 250 Women in 30 states have been criminally prosecuted in relation to drug
abuse while pregnant. (Coles, par 16) Since there isn t a law in place for a woman being
convicted for drinking or smoking while pregnant, they dig a little deeper and get more technical.
Charges for unlawful child neglect, delivering drugs to a minor, homicide by child abuse and even
manslaughter have been given to mothers who abuse drugs or alcohol while pregnant. Some even
believe in terminating the woman s parental rights. Whether or not the child shows signs before
birth, they have started to test newborns for drugs and prosecute from there. (NAPW, par 33 35)
Screening for alcohol and drug use in prenatal care is widely promoted in the United States as a
public health strategy for reducing alcohol and drug use during pregnancy. (Roberts, par 1) I think
that they re promoting drug and alcohol testing in prenatal care to help the mother get help, not
punish her for doing them. Reading through a few articles on prenatal testing, I realized that most
women see it as the doctor is going to turn over her information to the enforcements, which is not
the case. In the fear of getting in trouble, mothers will avoid prenatal care all together, which is a
problem in itself. Trying to find a happy medium where we can try to escape the statistics of
children having side effects due to drugs or alcohol, might have to start at the source the seller.

Unfortunately, some of the companies like VA Tech and DSI have had histories of forcibly
removing thousands to millions of people from their homes. Even worse flooding of the reservoirs
sometimes causes the surrounding areas where residence still occupied to be submerged killing
those who remain, according to Maggie Ronayne from the report, The Cultural and Environmental
Impact of Large Dams in Southwest Turkey. More will now be discussed of the many ecological
impacts the Ilisu has on the communities of animal and plant life. In the same report written by
Ronayne, she stated that a requirement of some international guidelines for the dam was to consult
with the women of the area prior to construction. The companies falsified claims of speaking with
the women. When asked on the conversations, they said the women agreed with building the dams
because they wanted dishwaters. This was to imply that the women s major priority was to
relinquish the burden of washing dishes, a task already stereotyped for women. Sadly, when the
Kurdish Human Rights Project spoke with actual women from the surrounding areas, their opinions
were quite different from what was said by the VA Tech. The impoverished areas could not even
afford dishwashers, and felt the dam would do more harm to the land and their community than
what was already happening.

The intent of terrorist is to inflict as much harm and damage as possible. More than likely they

Cholera
The disease, cholera, is an infection of the intestines, caused by the bacterium Vibrio cholerae. As
stated in Microbes and Infections of the Gut, the bacterium is a Gram negative, comma shaped,
highly motile organism with a single terminal flagellum (105). Cholera is characterized by the most
significant symptom that presents with the disease, diarrhea, and victims can lose up to twenty
liters of body fluids in a day. Cholera can be a serious disease, due to the serious dehydration that
can occur, but it is only fatal if treatment is not administered as soon as possible. This research

However, although V. cholerae is the source of the cholera infection, the deadly effects of the
disease are the result of a potent toxin, called CTX, that the bacteria produce in the small intestine.
CTX binds to the intestinal walls, where it interferes with the normal flow of sodium and chloride.
This causes the body to secrete enormous amounts of water, leading to diarrhea and a rapid loss of
fluids and salts (electrolytes) (Cholera: Causes)
There are other common sources of cholera bacterium are surface or well water, seafood, raw
fruits and vegetables, and grains. In water, Vibrio cholerae can survive for long periods of time,
staying dormant. People in areas with poor sanitation, like crowded refugee camps, are at risk of
cholera, due to the fact that water provided for said community could be a source of
contamination of cholera bacteria. Seafood, when raw or undercooked, can be contaminated by
cholera bacteria, if the seafood came from certain areas with contaminated waters. Since the
1970s, cholera outbreaks in the U.S. have been caused by smuggled seafood from cholera infected
areas, and from the Gulf of Mexico. Shellfish are especially contaminated, due to the fact that they
filter large amounts of water, concentrating the levels of cholera bacteria . Raw fruits especially
unpeeled and vegetables coming from an area with a source of cholera are another frequent source
of the cholera bacteria. Innoculation of the fruits

Relationship Between Culture And Economic Incentives
In the following, I will argue that in order to understand change we need a concrete understanding
of the relationship between culture and economic incentives, not a set primacy of one over the
other. Change should ideally be explained by a synthesis in which both culture and economic
incentives are taken into account. It is not only about stating that there is a relationship but also
about analysing how that relationship works in terms of mechanisms.

In this section, I will develop the scope for synthesis regarding culture and economic incentives in a

According to this, the concept of incentives as economic incentives should be softened if we want
to understand its link to culture.

There are various types of incentives, not only material also intangible and expressive incentives
(cite[195]{leighley1995attitudes}). This may lead to ambiguous responses if they interact with
subjective feelings and desires.
Hence, if the model includes non material incentives like esteem or expressing one s identity, the
relationship between culture and economic incentives becomes a much closer one to analyse.

Expressive incentives have a theoretical significance, which shows that the rational choice
understanding of the human nature is incomplete (cite[195 197]{leighley1995attitudes}).
Behaviour in groups or societies is more complex. Norms condition decision making in groups.
Nonetheless, in addition to these cultural factors, the personal motivations and incentives for a
certain behaviour within societies need to be considered (cite[12]{laffont2009theory}). My aim is
that if we synthesise rational choice and cultural perspectives, more phenomena become explainable
without completely abandoning rational choice assumptions.

For example, citeauthor{chong2000rational} (citeyear{chong2000rational}) models a rational
choice theory of agency, synthesised with cultural and psychological factors, material and non
material incentives

Colin s Foreclosure Case
Next, Colin serves as an example of identity foreclosure and the impact early maturation can
have on individuals. According to Marcia s theory of development, identity foreclosure occurs
when an individual lives a life that was chosen for them, specifically by a parent or guardian,
instead of making their own decisions. In Colin s case, this can be seen by the fact that his father
forced him to start playing basketball because he himself played basketball when he was younger.
Instead of going against his father s wishes, Colin simply accepted the fate that was laid out for

Spirituality And Religiosity
While consensus among researchers on the definition of spirituality and religiosity is lacking, what
it means to be spiritual or religious and what constitutes a spiritual person in the literature is still
very highly researched (Stranahan, 2008). Many definitions of religiosity and spirituality include
religious service attendance, some sort of meaning and purpose in life, personal strength to cope
with difficulties, and believing in a higher being (Stranahan, 2008). Older adults tend to have
stronger faith and greater spirituality than younger populations (Moberg, 2005). This difference in
spirituality between younger populations and older adults is possibly tied to the deepening of
spiritual interests and concern during the later years (Moberg, 2005, p. 15). Older adults tend to
become more religious, or turn to religionmore as they age, instead of maintaining a high level of
religiosity throughout their lives (Moberg, 2005). Spirituality and religiosity are very important to
the aging process due to the connection observed in many studies between spiritual health and
physical and mental health and well being, with religion having protective health effects. Much
research has been conducted on the association between religion and spirituality and physical and
mental health outcomes, especially among older adults. This paper will summarize the recent

One interpretation for this phrase is that people tend to enjoy only the finished product of the
plantation but does not have any respect for the slaves that worked there. Another interpretation that
can be inferred is that as the speaker gets shown around the plantation by a tour guide, the tour
guide does not mention anything about the slaves that were buried there.
Other evidence that supports the theme is line 17 18: the inventory lists ten slaves/ but only
men were recognized. Because these lines were italicized, it can be assume that the speaker is
just reading a sign and is simply stating a historical fact. However, reading into the lines
demonstrates how the slaves were dehumanized. The word inventory, which means complete list
of items such as property or goods in stock, shows that slaves were only property to slave owners
and does not have sort of human quality in them. Another deeper meaning that can be collected
from only men alone recognized is the feeling that women slaves were even more mistreated and
were not even recognized as an inventory, which can be inferred that women slaves were even
lower than male slaves and were not recognized as an object or property. The denial of women
slaves existence ties closely to lines 25 28: some of these slaves were women some of them did this
honored work.
Here, the speaker is telling the readers that not only men worked in this plantation

Encounters With An Archdruid Summary
Taylor Cox AP Environmental Science 2 April 2017 Encounters with an Archdruid details the
adventures of environmentalist David Brower, as a compoundment of narratives...of journeys

McPhee emphasizes the fact that Fraser still considers himself a true conservationist, despite his
development plans. But Brower continued to fight Fraser, and eventually forced Fraser to sell the
land he had purchased on Cumberland Island to the National Park Foundation, after receiving an
impressive amount of support for his conservationist efforts from the

Samples from meat source B showed similar trends. Samples from meat sources C and D did not provide statistically significant results, and thus provided inconclusive data; each of these spread plates had a recorded sample average of 0.00E+00 to represent this (Chart 1). The pour plates had dynamic results, the most interesting of which arose from source A2; this pour plate at a concentration of 1.00E 03 grew colonies that were too numerous to count, then decreased to 77 colonies at the next dilution level of 1.00E 04, but increased again at the following dilution of 1.00E 05 (Table 1). Source A3 was similarly dynamic at dilution levels 1.00E 03 and 1.00E 04, with colony counts recorded at 188 and 268, respectively, and then falling to levels that were not statistically significant (Table 2). (Coles, par 16) Since there isn t a law in place for a woman being convicted for drinking or smoking while pregnant, they dig a little deeper and get more technical. Charges for unlawful child neglect, delivering drugs to a minor, homicide by child abuse and even manslaughter have been given to mothers who abuse drugs or alcohol while pregnant. Some even believe in terminating the woman s parental rights. Whether or not the child shows signs before birth, they have started to test newborns for drugs and prosecute from there. (NAPW, par 33 35) Screening for alcohol and drug use in prenatal care is widely promoted in the United States as a public health strategy for reducing alcohol and drug use during pregnancy. (Roberts, par 1) I think that they re promoting drug and alcohol testing in prenatal care to help the mother get help, not punish her for doing them. Reading through a few articles on prenatal testing, I realized that most women see it as the doctor is going to turn over her information to the enforcements, which is not the case. In the fear of getting in trouble, mothers will avoid prenatal care all together, which is a problem in itself. Even worse flooding of the reservoirs sometimes causes the surrounding areas where residence still occupied to be submerged killing those who remain, according to Maggie Ronayne from the report, The Cultural and Environmental Impact of Large Dams in Southwest Turkey. More will now be discussed of the many ecological impacts the Ilisu has on the communities of animal and plant life. In the same report written by Ronayne, she stated that a requirement of some international guidelines for the dam was to consult with the women of the area prior to construction. The companies falsified claims of speaking with the women. When asked on the conversations, they said the women agreed with building the dams because they wanted dishwaters. This was to imply that the women s major priority was to relinquish the burden of washing dishes, a task already stereotyped for women. Sadly, when the Kurdish Human Rights Project spoke with actual women from the surrounding areas, their opinions were quite different from what was said by the VA Tech. The impoverished areas could not even afford dishwashers, and felt the dam would do more harm to the land and their community than what was already happening. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cholera is characterized by the most significant symptom that presents with the disease, diarrhea, and victims can lose up to twenty liters of body fluids in a day. However, although V. cholerae is the source of the cholera infection, the deadly effects of the disease are the result of a potent toxin, called CTX, that the bacteria produce in the small intestine. CTX binds to the intestinal walls, where it interferes with the normal flow of sodium and chloride. This causes the body to secrete enormous amounts of water, leading to diarrhea and a rapid loss of fluids and salts (electrolytes) (Cholera: Causes) There are other common sources of cholera bacterium are surface or well water, seafood, raw fruits and vegetables, and grains. In water, Vibrio cholerae can survive for long periods of time, staying dormant. People in areas with poor sanitation, like crowded refugee camps, are at risk of cholera, due to the fact that water provided for said community could be a source of contamination of cholera bacteria. Seafood, when raw or undercooked, can be contaminated by cholera bacteria, if the seafood came from certain areas with contaminated waters. Since the 1970s, cholera outbreaks in the U.S. have been caused by smuggled seafood from cholera infected areas, and from the Gulf of Mexico. Relationship Between Culture And Economic Incentives In the following, I will argue that in order to understand change we need a concrete understanding of the relationship between culture and economic incentives, not a set primacy of one over the other. Change should ideally be explained by a synthesis in which both culture and economic incentives are taken into account. It is not only about stating that there is a relationship but also about analysing how that relationship works in terms of mechanisms. section{Synthesis in an Ontologically Divided Field?} In this section, I will develop the scope for synthesis regarding culture and economic incentives in a political economic analysis of change. There are various types of incentives, not only material also intangible and expressive incentives (cite[195]{leighley1995attitudes}). This may lead to ambiguous responses if they interact with subjective feelings and desires. Hence, if the model includes non material incentives like esteem or expressing one s identity, the relationship between culture and economic incentives becomes a much closer one to analyse. According to Marcia s theory of development, identity foreclosure occurs when an individual lives a life that was chosen for them, specifically by a parent or guardian, instead of making their own decisions. In Colin s case, this can be seen by the fact that his father forced him to start playing basketball because he himself played basketball when he was younger. • 37. Spirituality And Religiosity While consensus among researchers on the definition of spirituality and religiosity is lacking, what it means to be spiritual or religious and what constitutes a spiritual person in the literature is still very highly researched (Stranahan, 2008). Many definitions of religiosity and spirituality include religious service attendance, some sort of meaning and purpose in life, personal strength to cope with difficulties, and believing in a higher being (Stranahan, 2008). Older adults tend to have stronger faith and greater spirituality than younger populations (Moberg, 2005). This difference in spirituality between younger populations and older adults is possibly tied to the deepening of spiritual interests and concern during the later years (Moberg, 2005, p. 15). Older adults tend to become more religious, or turn to religionmore as they age, instead of maintaining a high level of religiosity throughout their lives (Moberg, 2005). Spirituality and religiosity are very important to the aging process due to the connection observed in many studies between spiritual health and physical and mental health and well being, with religion having protective health effects. One interpretation for this phrase is that people tend to enjoy only the finished product of the plantation but does not have any respect for the slaves that worked there. Another interpretation that can be inferred is that as the speaker gets shown around the plantation by a tour guide, the tour guide does not mention anything about the slaves that were buried there. Other evidence that supports the theme is line 17 18: the inventory lists ten slaves/ but only men were recognized. Because these lines were italicized, it can be assume that the speaker is just reading a sign and is simply stating a historical fact. However, reading into the lines demonstrates how the slaves were dehumanized. The word inventory, which means complete list of items such as property or goods in stock, shows that slaves were only property to slave owners and does not have sort of human quality in them. Another deeper meaning that can be collected from only men alone recognized is the feeling that women slaves were even more mistreated and were not even recognized as an inventory, which can be inferred that women slaves were even lower than male slaves and were not recognized as an object or property.
