Examples Of Managing Demand
Strategies for Managing Demand Shifting demand into other time periods 1.Incentives 2.Sales
promotions 3.Advertising campaigns Offering products or services with counter cyclical demand
patterns Partnering with suppliers to reduce information distortion along the supply chain Shifting
demand into other time periods: As a customer, I came across an examples of shifting the demand
into other time period many times and make me think why companies are offering such deal. It is
clean now that companies want to shift the demand of certain product into other time period to
keep revenue generation and balancing the demand. Winter coat: While visiting Macy s in month of
January and February. I noticed that winter coats and other winter... Show more content on

It helps both to Dunkin Donuts Baskin Robbin to balance the business and optimal utilization of
resource during idleness of their original business hrs. Also it gives an option to the family and
friends visiting at one stop shop to enjoy coffee, breakfast, food and ice cream. Lawn guru: Lawn
guru is another example of counter cyclical demand where company is offering services to their
customer in northern America during two different seasons. Lawn guru is providing Lawn mowing
service during the summer and snow cleaning during winter. It helps the company to balance the
business and optimal utilization of resource during idleness of the summer and winter. Partnering
with suppliers: The third approach to managing demand recognizes the information distortion
caused by ordering goods in batches along a supply chain. Even though a customer may require
daily usage of an item, customer probably does not purchase that item daily. Neither do retail stores
restock their shelves continuously. By the time a replenishment order reaches distributors,
wholesalers, manufacturers, and their suppliers, the demand pattern for a product can appear
extremely erratic. To control the situation manufacturers, their suppliers, and customers form
partnerships in which demand information is shared and orders are placed in a more continuous
fashion. Hewlett Packard (HP): When HP executives examined the sales of one of its printers at a

Carmelo Anthony Case Study
Carmelo Anthony has made plenty of game winning shots in his career and continues to prove it
this season with the New York Knicks. The New York Knicks are still alive in the Eastern

Essay on The Life and Theories of Charles Darwin
The Life and Theories of Charles Darwin
Charles Robert Darwin was the fifth child of Robert Waring Darwin and Susannah Wedgewood.
He was born on February 12, 1809 in Shrewsbury,
England where his father practiced medicine. He attended Shrewsbury
Grammar School which was a well kn own secondary school which concentrated on teaching
classic languages. Even as a boy Darwin loved science and his enthusiasm for chemical studies
earned him the name Gas from his friends.
The headmaster at Shrewsbury, Dr. Samuel Butler noted, Here s a boy, plays around with his
gases and the rest of his rubbish and works at nothing useful. He was also an avid collector.

On Henslow s recommendation, Darwin was chosen to serve as naturalist for the exploration. The
Beagle set sail from Devonport on
December 27, 1831 and returned on October 2, 1836. Throughout the journey,
Darwin shipped back to England crate loads of tropical plants, insects, flowers, spiders, s hells and
fossil animals. He was very popular with the crew and was given the name Fly Catcher.
During the five year journey, he was exposed to different species of birds, insects and reptiles. He
noted that in the different environments that he visited changes occurred in the same species that
helped them to adapt to their surrounding s. It was as a result of these observations and
observations of other naturalists and geologists that
Darwin began to formulate his theory of evolution known as Natural
Selection. Darwin had left England as a youthful collector and returned as a dedicated naturalist.
Before the journey, he believed like Henslow, that the history of the earth was short and whatever
changes occurred were the result of vast catastrophes. By his return, he was convinced that the
earth was extremely old and its evolution was the result of many small changes. Natural Selection,
proposed by Darwin, is the most widely accepted theory on evolution today. The theory is based
upon five basic principles.

Essay On Legalizing Medical Marijuana
Legalization of Medical Marijuana The controversy on the topic is that Americans link marijuana
to uneducated, unemployed, and lazy individuals who deal with addiction. Though there are valid
points for the legalization of the drug, there is a worry about how the drug will affect the users.
Although opponents say that legalizing medical marijuana is a back door method of legalizing the
drug for recreational use, the U.S. should legalize medical marijuana because it will reduce crime,
increase revenue, provide more research, and will help treat numerous medical conditions. Many
people think that if marijuana is legalized, there will be an onslaught of crime. (Delmore)
Studies have shown that the legalization of marijuana has truly reduced the crime rate. Robert
Morris, an associate professor of criminology at UT Dallas, said, After controlling for a host of
known factors related to changes in crime rates we accounted for factors such as poverty,
employment, education, even per capita beer sales, among other things we found no evidence of
increases in any of these crimes for states after legalizing marijuana for medical use (Ferner). He
goes on to say that the studies show that homicides and assaults have decreased because of the
legalization. The National Academy of Sciences found that THC, the active ingredient in... Show

How to Date a Browngirl, Blackgirl, Whitegirl, and Halfie
The short story How to Date a Browngirl, Blackgirl, Whitegirl, and Halfie by Junot Diaz is the
main character, Yunior s, guide to dating girls of different races and the ways to act in order to get
what you want from them. The only thing Yunior seems to want for these girls is sexual acts. This
short story argues that a person s heritage, economic class, and raceaffect how a person identifies
themselves, and how their identity affects how they act towards other people. The pressures a
person may feel from society also has an effect on how a person treats themselves and others. The
pressure and expectations from society are also what makes Yunior think he needs to have sex with
these girls. There are many different occasions of the main... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He acts differently towards his friends and other boys his age in the neighborhood. For example,
when his friend refers to the girl Yunior is trying to date as that bitch Yunior only agrees with
him (Diaz 236). He doesn t defend them at all, which is an indication that he doesn t care for
these girls at all, only what they ll do for him. He also says that he will call his friends and let
them know He did it if he does hook up with one of these girls, with no respect for them. This is
indicating that he is trying to hook up with these girls because he feels like his friends expect him
too. Yunior does this because he sees other boys doing these things, and he wants to be like them.
He wants to be the same and be accepted, and that s why he treats these different people in different
ways. The main character also treats girls of different races differently. He wrongly suggests that if
a girl is white, that you will definitely get a hand job before the night is through, if not more
(Diaz 235). He says that white girls are the girls everyone really wants to date, because they are
easy. This is why he does many things that white boys do. He also says that not many white girls
live in his neighborhood, that the locals tend to be brown girls, black girls, or halfies. This is
probably because many of the white people are of a higher economic class then he is. If they are in
a higher economic class then he is, this may

Batgirl Analysis
I was in the mood for something corny and nostalgic this weekend so watched 1997 s Batman
and Robin you know with Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, and the introduction of Batgirl. Seeing this
movie again strongly reminded me that my childhood rocked! However it also surprised me
because I d totally forgotten that Uma Thurman had played Poison Ivy! Do you remember that?
Watching the film and really giving it much thought I ve decided that she s one of those actors
you know really well but are super surprised when you see her in a movie. Kinda like that really
cool kid who everyone knows and thinks is awesome but for some reason you never see him at
any parties and then one day you see them at a party and it s like some sort of epic phenomenon! I

Michael Jennings plays an engineer who does high end jobs for big wig companies. Each and
every company has him doing highly classified jobs, so classified that after each assignment his

months of memory he ll have to give up eventually however when a million dollar company
offers him an eight figure paycheck for 3 years of work that s just an offer he can t refuse.
However when his contract is up and his memory is wiped he finds his hired company trying to
kill him! He has to try to remember the past three years to find out just what it was he did for the
company and why they want him dead. Uma plays Dr. Rachel Porter a botanist portrayed as
Michael s love interest in the film. I have to say as a botanist and an engineer Rachel and
Michael amazingly kicked all sorts of butt! Nice to see an action thriller where the leading
female is not always the lady in distress, Uma did great holding her own with the lead male.
There was some corny scenes that Uma pays tribute to but hey, that s on the scripts end. Her real
achievment is the emotion she gives when she confronts Michael for erasing his three years of
memory and in doing so erasing her from his life. Another great performance that gave us a fun

Ode To A Grecian Urn By John Keats Essay
The Romantic Sentiments of Ode to a Grecian Urn. Employing the poetic style of ekphrasis,
John Keats uses his poem Ode to a Grecian Urn to study a separate work of art. Keats narrates the
poem from the perspective of one carefully studying a vase while pondering the depictions of
nature, love, and religious rites on its surface. His observations lead to to remark on the everlasting
nature of emotions evoked by the urn, as well as the beauty of the images it induces in one who
would observe it. These musings throughout the poem offer a strong indication of Romantic view
which Keats held. Romanticismplaced a heavy emphasis on the importance of emotion as a source
of true art and the value of imagination. Keats description in Ode... Show more content on

The love these individuals feel is For ever warm and still to be enjoy d (26). He claims that
happiness in the image is All breathing human passion far above, / that leaves a heart high
sorrowful and cloy d, / a burning forehead, and a parching tongue. (27 30). With human passion,
there will always exist negative consequences, from heartbreak to longing due to separation.
However, in this single image, frozen in time, these could never exist. Instead the single, cheerful
atmosphere will perpetually remain, and from it Keats is able to grow a larger scene with the
two lovers. Beyond just notions of love, Keats extends the same logic of the perpetuated emotions
to other sentiments. Frequently, a sense of intrigue or uncertainty is maintained within the poem.
All throughout, Keats poses many rhetorical questions. In examining one scene he asks What
men or gods are these? What maidens loth? (8). Although from following questions a general
picture can be formed of men pursuing women in a wild ecstacy (10), a dominating uncertainty
remains. Later, when studying a portrayal of a sacrifice of a cow, Keats poses more questions,
asking What little town by river or seashore / ... is empty of this folk this pious morn? (35 37), and
concludes thy streets for evermore / Will silent be (38 39).
Keats knows that he will never get an answer for his questions, as the artwork will never change.
Furthermore, it will continue past any one person, as When

Jefferson University Of Virginia Plan Essay
Jefferson s University of Virginia plan begins in the northeast with the focus of the university: the
library. This was a building made to store books, host meetings, and hold classes. Extending
southwest of that is a Lawn flanked on either side by pavilions and dormitories. The pavilions (five
on either side of the lawn) were meant to be classrooms as well as faculty housing. The dormitories
were built to house the students of the universityand had bathrooms and showers dispersed
throughout, though not in individual rooms. The dormitories and pavilions are separated from the
lawn by a colonnade. Beyond the pavilions and dormitories, extending axially outward, are gardens

Jefferson references the great architectural buildings of the past such as the pantheon to show his
connection to the great teachers of history. However, despite the similarities, Jefferson makes
some bold statements with what he does not include. His library is based on the pantheon, yet
does not reference religion. In fact, there is no place in his plan for the university that focused on
religion. This reflects Jefferson s mentality that learning should be a secular entity, and thus his
university has no religious affiliation, the first such public institution in the nation. Another
interesting idea is that of the integrated faculty housing. In this manner, by having faculty
housing, Jefferson showed how he viewed learning as a lifelong endeavor, that both faculty and
students were in pursuit of. Each of the pavilions was also based on a different classical roman
temple, to express the many varied disciplines taught at the university. The facades of each
pavilion were intended to serve as architectural models to expand learning. On a more concrete
level, the design of the university also reflects the social climate of the time, one which Jefferson
adhered to. The university was originally a males only institution, as can be seen by how the
dormitories are un segregated with bathrooms that allowed students to be seen in various stages of
undress. In a co ed university, this would not have been

In pursuit of a serious threat, it is understandable that some information such as that might be
useful. Many people will argue that the current capabilities of different agencies are
constitutional and are for the country s benefit; some have the belief that what they don t know
can t hurt them. Maybe government does have the right to obtain what they want for their
discretion, and we should trust that they will not abuse that power. It is true that the people of
America do not know the plans of various government agencies, and perhaps it is best that we
accept that and let them do their work. Besides, just imagine all of the terrorist attacks and other
incidents that will be prevented by these national security measures. While all these points are
logical, they re missing the point. Ignorance is not bliss, and a privacy invasion such as one that
is occurring now cannot continue. These national security measures are slowly eating away our
basic freedoms and liberties. We cannot just let this pass by and become blasГ© on the matter; it
needs to be understood that there is a limit to what is acceptable and that is, what is necessary?

The above example clearly shows why most hard working Americans can not get ahead. You are
saving your money in US Dollars and the US Dollar is consistently loosing value. Furthermore,
the paltry interest that most accounts pay can barely keep up with inflation let alone the dollars

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Communication
Communication is an ongoing complex process that brings all different types of people together.
Communication creates and rebuilds relationships which can last a lifetime. Even though,
communication could create strong bonds it could also destroy those bonds. When it comes to
communicating, everyone has their flaws as well as me. One of my flaws, when it comes to
communicating, is having the courage to speak my mindwithin important and necessary
conversations. When it comes to communicating, I tend to hold my tongue instead of expressing
how I truly feel. Even though I know that not all conversations need your opinion or advice, there
s still those conversations that do. There are certain reasons that I have decided to keep my
thoughts and feelings to myself while having conversations with others: fear that the way others
perception of me would change negatively, fear of not knowing how they will respond or accept
and the fear of leaving my stuff vulnerable in front of someone that could possibly hurt me
mentally and emotionally. I have yet to figure out what should be said at the appropriate time, so I
rather just keep my thoughts and comments to myself because I cannot do any harm if I m quiet.
My interaction with people has labeled me as someone that continues to Sugar Coat because of the
reasons I listed above. Nevertheless, I had multiple conversations with family, friends and

The Value Of Filial Piety
Culture: I applied symbolic interactionism. As one of the oldest countries in the world, China dates
back to ten thousand years. With more than five thousand years of traditional culture, China has a
formal set of values, beliefs, customs, language, etc., which have been passed generations.
Confucianism is the most influential philosophy guiding Chinese people living in different
centuries. The Confucian based values including harmony, filial piety, and obligation help shape my
personality. The value of harmony: Confucianism emphasizes the importance of building
harmonious relationships with others to make the society stable (Kaplan). It means that in every
relationship, people should show benevolence, righteousness, loyalty, and humility. These values
profoundly influence Chinese people including my family members. Husband and wife, parents
and children, and friend and friend only maintain a harmonious relationship, they could make a
stable society. The value of filial piety: Chinese society is characterized by patriarchy and
hierarchy. Elders make the most decisions. Confucianism advocates people to show respect and
compliance for elders. Most of the Chinese people treat filial piety as the most important traditional
value. It requires the younger generation to follow the elders words without a doubt. If a kid
disputes with his/her parents, he/she shows unrespect for the parents. The value of obligation: Each
personal has different social roles in different social

Affordable Health Care for America Act Essay

costs of health insurance, introduce competition into the health care marketplace that will help

Essay about Rime of Ancient Mariner
The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, a complex tale of an old seafarer, was written by Samuel Taylor
Coleridge and published in 1798. According to the Longman Anthology of British Literature, the
work first appeared in Lyrical Ballads , a publication co authored with William Wordsworth (557).
The ancient mariner s journey provides for such a supernatural tale, that all who must hear it,
specifically the wedding guest in the poem, are enthralled. Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of the
mariner s tale is the obvious themes of sinand redemption. By using the story within a story
method, Coleridge gives the audience a tale that resembles a very Christian like voyage from one
theme, sin, to the final theme, redemption. Throughout his poem,... Show more content on

In James 1:17, the Bible says, Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above.
The audience, whether religious or not, is aware that the albatross is meant to be a Christian symbol.
From this point forward, the author shapes the story around the arrival and presence of the
Albatross and the subsequent events.
For reasons not specifically mentioned in the text, the mariner kills the albatross, which can be
easily related to a couple of infamous Christian sins.
First, the reader can see obvious similarities between the mariner and the Biblical character Adam.
According to Christian belief, Adam committed the original sin that caused mankind to suffer as a
whole (Harent 3). In The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, the original sin is the mariner s killing of the
God sent albatross. Even though the crew, like humanity, did not commit the original sin, they
ultimately inherit the repercussions of the sin.
The mariner admits that he understands that his actions would affect his shipmates when he says:
And I had done a hellish thing/ And it would work em woe (Coleridge ll. 91 92)
Also relatable to the mariner s sin is the story of Judas, a Biblical character who, in Luke 22, is
said to have betrayed Christ, leading to His ultimate crucifixion at the hands of humans.
Judas and the mariner can be seen as the typical, universal sinner who betrays God by transgressing
against Him. In this poem s case,

The Importance of Prison Reform Essay
In this world we live in many feel that prisons exist to punish, not counsel, offenders. That may be
true that Prisons exist for punishment, but they also have an important contribution to make to
reducing re offending by engaging prisoners in rehabilitation programs and purposeful work.
Society is flawed in its thinking that by putting criminals in a place away from society we would
be better off. To make it worse I am sure that more that 60 percent of Americans are against social
reform because they have made up their mind that once a crook, always a crook. This is flawed
mainly because it seems to assume that showing people that what they ve done is wrong will
always accomplish something, that punishing those who commit crimes... Show more content on

Prison life can be harsh, and time spent in a isolation is even worse. A majority of those in prison
spend countless hours in idleness. It would be much better if they used that time to reeducate
themselves for a productive life on the outside. Some of the prisoners have serious emotional and
mental problems that are never addressed and it is illogical to not attempt to correct these problems
before they are released.
There are even worse scenarios that exist in today s prisons. The prison guards have little control
and prison can be a violent place because again it is not a place that specializes in rehab. On
television shows you see inmates stabbing each other and are quick to assume that it is a
dramatization, but it really an occurrence that happens often, in prisons all over the world for
that matter. In an article by Raphael Rowe he writes about how a part of him died in prison, and
he had to be on his guard constantly, Once, I was sitting in the television room watching football
when someone I knew came in and told me to leave the room. I didn t ask questions: I just left
and stood outside. A few seconds later, three other guys came running past me, pillow cases with
eye holes cut out over their heads, carrying a huge cooking pot full of hot oil. I heard the screams
long before some young black guy a sex offender came running out, his skin dripping from his face.
Such horrid tales should let the general public know that we need to reevaluate

A pastoral staff with crook head shape on the top was starting to emerge. This kind of pastoral
staff was called a crozier. This luxurious material made type of pastoral staff was used until

two opposing force when they were fighting to each other.
Saint Michael battling the demon serpent was the most popular decoration to be carved on the
crozier because it was the perfect representation of good and evil. It may be true that In art, he is
most frequently shown with a sword, either battling with or standing in triumph over a dragon or
the prostrate Satan (Jones 178). Saint Michael is one of three archangels (the other two are
Gabriel and Raphael) that was mentioned in the Holy Bible. He was known as the general of
heaven, protector of chosen people in earth. In early Catholic church, people considered him as the
defender of Christianity. He was also charged with the guidance of souls here below, to protect
them from devil s snares and to lead them to the eternal light (Englebert, 369).

Comparing Don T Give Up The Fight And Making Sarah Cry
The story Don t give up the fight and the poem Making sarah cry have the same theme because
they both have the theme of courage. Both have courage because in making Sarah cry the boy
had to have courage because he had to stand up to peer pressure so he didn t make fun of
sarah. In the story don t give up the fight Ava had to have courage to stay on the track team even
though nobody wanted her there .They are different because they both show courage, but they
show it in totally different ways like their social implication. Like, Ava helped herself and sarah
helped of her bullies. The boy in making Sarah cry had to stand up to peer pressure and in don t
give up the fight the girl had to show the boys what she is made of. In the story Don t give up the
Fight the theme is courage. I know this because Ava has to keep racing after she is getting
bullied. My other reason is that ava has to stand up to the boys and coach that try to put her down
and want her to quit but, she keeps running even though she is getting made fun of. My last reason
is that ava has her friend to talk to but she didn t because she felt like nobody would understand.

The Pillars Of School Leadership
Leadership
This paper is a review on the pillars of school leadership as discussed in School Supervision class.
One occurring question is what does it mean to be a leader in one of our urban school system
today is a questions asked repeatedly in our class reading? The qualities of a leader are courage,
flexibility and confidence.
Leadership today is the process by which leaders individually or collectively influence their
colleagues. The Center for Comprehensive School Reform and Improvement (2005), A leader is
being so awesome that everyone want to follow you . (quote from Leadership handout).
Additionally, leaders must motivate people and have other skills such as agreement building,
networking, and exercising no jurisdictional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
School leaders understand that when high performance is expected its likelihood increases and
developing a leader takes time. Some leaders are too often preoccupied (p.15) with the capacity to
bring about intended consequences in the behavior of others.
In addition to maintaining these skills, Siccone (2011), found that people are motivated by one of
three strong drives to do the best work of which they are capable. For leaders to effect change, they
must have a picture of what change will look like. Total participation techniques provide teachers
with evidence of active participation and cognitive engagement from all students at the same time.
These techniques function as formative assessments that help teachers accurately monitor progress,
provide (Siccone 2011).
Instructional
Feedback and the need to modify instruction and other characteristics are essential to developing a
rich culture to analyze assessments in our schools. Today s students have more rigorous curriculum
and they are required to reach proficiency on assessments, more and more schools are using a form
of data process to identify what teachers should be able to teach their students, to dispel myths that
some students can not learn and inspire educators to a greater level of commitment and action
having data discussions. The idea behind student data to and linking it to teacher s evaluation is to

Character Changes In Romeo And Juliet
In this essay I will characterize Romeo and how he changed over the play and the film Baz
Luhrman directed.
Romeo in the film is always compared to blue or Water. I think the director decided to associate
Romeo to blue to show the audience that he is a calm and trusting person. For example he is
always wearing a blue shirt. He is also associated to water, I think the director decided to do this
because water is neutral, no one owns the water. So when he is with Juliet he isn t the Montague
, he is only a boy. This because water is clean and washes away his name. In the balcony scene
when Romeo and Juliet fall in the water is like both their names were cleaned off and they could
be children again. The film shows us their child innocence and ... Show more content on

When he goes there he is clumsy and tripping over everything. He risks his life to see her, which
is not practical, not only for him, who is risking being caught and being sentenced to death
penalty, but also her, Juliet, which if caught is going to be in trouble with her family. In the
Elizabethan times, wealth family girls being caught disoubeying their parents would be sent to a
nuns house, where they were not allowed to see men. The clumsiness when he enters Juliet s
house is a big contrast to the Romeo we saw at the beach who was calm. Although we still see
some indifference towards life. We know this because he risks his life to see Juliet not caring if he
got caught. This suugests the audience that he is still not completely changed and committed to
Juliet. This scene also contrasts the ball room scene that he looks in control. We know this because
the types of shots Baz Luhrmann used in that scene and the balcony scene are different and show
different things. In the ball room scene the shots are straight forward, which suggests he is in
control of how people see him. Then in the balcony scene most of the shots are close up to show
emotions or overhead shots to show vulnerability and young

The Importance Of Being Influenced By Jane Goodall
It is common for people to feel that they were influenced by the surroundings. The process of being
influenced is the way people shape their values. Otherwise, people will hold only one singular
value, which is dangerous to their mental health. Through directly or indirectly influences under the
immediate environment, people learn to adjust their moods, which is the key leading to happiness.
Jane Goodall in In the Forests of Gombe shares her experience in the forest. When she stayed with
chimpanzees, she feels peaceful. The natural environmenthelps her to get out of the sadness of her
husbands (Derek) death. The days in the forest made Goodall believe that religion and science are
not mutually exclusive. Alain de Bottonin On Habit discusses a traveling mindset, which means that
people are more likely to accept and respect new things during traveling. However, when they back
home, they lost this traveling mindset, so they feel their lives are boring. Such traveling mindset
teaches people to always explore their lives and use different views to see their surroundings. Both
authors talk about how their psyches are related to the environment. Goodall focuses on how the
environment affects her mental status, while de Botton tells different mindsets can change people s
views toward the environment. Our immediate environment and our mental well being are related
to each other. People can adopt a traveling mindset to explore the environment in a different way
and the change of

Importance of Childcare Background Checks
Criminal Background Checks Childcare background checks have always been important for
those hiring people to work particularly with children. But, the recent rise in child related crimes
in the past decade has made this kind of check even more important, not only to people hiring
childcare workers, but for anyone that will be providing care for a child in any way. This includes
volunteers working with children in a public daycare center, church daycare center, home daycare
center, and even for volunteers at summer camp. Parents have become much more protective over
their children, and with good cause (Oliveri, 2008). Organizations that hire employees or
volunteers are accountable for their actions and must make sure, as best they can, that the people
representing them can be trusted with their clients. Employers should be well informed on the risk
of failing to conduct screening checks of potential volunteers or employees, as they may be held
legally and morally accountable through vicarious liability. Vicarious liability makes an
organization accountable for the behavior of volunteers or employees under certain circumstances.
It functions on the supposition the organization has aggravated the risk that harm would take place.
It makes sure that organizations take all rational measures to decrease the risk of harm by using
methods such as screening. If they fail to take reasonable measures to reduce the risk of harm to
their clients, an organization (such as a school,

The author suggests that leaders in educational programs should adopt the values of a Social
Change Model in conjunction with digital leadership competencies. According to the article, the
Social Change Model is a leadership development model composed of three levels, including
individual, group, and community and is primarily used in higher education to train college
students to become agents of social change. With this in mind, digital leadership requires reflection
on online self awareness and congruence, grappling with the controversy that comes with cyber
civility and how to be a digital citizen prepared to inspire positive change in modern society. In
addition, these leaders should be adept in digital literacy, which includes a concatenation of
technical (online interfaces, applications), cognitive (critically thinking), and social/emotional
(netiquette, safety) (Ahlquist, 2014). These competencies give leaders the leeway to quickly
address rapid changes in technology by being creative and collaborative in hope to facilitate a better

Dallas Mavericks Case Study
The Dallas Mavericks have had an interesting offseason to say the least. The free agency period

signed a young shooting guard in Wesley Matthews and an aging point guard in Deron Williams.
The team also traded for veteran center Zaza Pachulia to bolster their front court. All three of

The loss of Tyson Chandler to the Suns through free agency and Deandre Jordan deciding to stay
with the Clippers almost crippled the Mavs. Pachulia won t be the saving grace for the
franchise, but he will bring talent and veteran leadership to the club. Pachulia put up good
defensive numbers for the Bucks last season, and can really excel at both ends of the floor. A
solid role player, Pachulia has averaged 7.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per game during his 12 year
NBA career. Pachulia won t come close to performing like Deandre Jordan or even Tyson
Chandler. However, he will be a solid performer at center this season and has a keen ability to
protect the paint. He ll most likely be sharing court time with Samuel Dalembert and Dwight
Powell so I don t expect much better numbers than his career average. Carlisle tends to also like
to play small ball, sticking Parsons at power forward and Nowitzki at center. Both of these
things could put a damper on the fantasy success of Pachulia. Pachulia is a very intriguing
fantasy option, but I just don t see a supreme value for him going forward. Taking him as a late
round pick in drafts or scooping him up on waivers will be the best option going forward. There
will be plenty of opportunities to grab rebounds and put back shots for Pachulia, but will that be
enough to justify a roster spot on your team? I say give him a try but temper your

The relationship of optimism with psychological well being is a well researched topic. Maintaining

The Regression Model Should Not Only The Independent...
In order to maintain the reliability and the integrity of the research, the regression model should
include not only the independent variables that were chosen based on their characteristics, but also
the possible impacts from other sources and the unexplained variation. The part that simply cannot
be explained is called stochastic error term. Serial correlation is a violation of Assumption IV, the
uncorrelated observations of the error term. When serial correlation occurs, it means the
independent variable has correlation with the error term. It occurs the most in time series data
because ...Serial correlation occurs when the error term from one time period depends in a

In this model, since there are only 9 observations and 4 independent variables, the critical values
of dl and du when N=15 was used from the appendix. The dl = 0.69 and du = 1.97. The Durbin
Watson statistic of this model is 1.42, which places in within the interval of [0.69, 1.97]. This
means the result is inconclusive; we can neither reject the null hypothesis nor accept it. Such
result could be caused by the variables and other factors that are not explained by the chosen
independent variables. Other than the current result of the DW test, positive serial correlation is
still a major possible outcome of time series data. Positive serial correlation indicates that the
positive errors for one observation increase the probability of a positive error for another
observation, and vice versa. In order to remedy serial correlation, GLS is introduced.
Generalized least squares (GLS) is a method of ridding an equation of pure first order serial
correlation and in the process restoring the minimum variance property to its estimation
(Studenmund, 2006). In this model, GLS did not necessarily run because of the inconclusive
result of the DW test, so that the presence of serial correlation is unsure. Classical Assumptions of
OLS Following are the seven classical assumptions of OLS that must be held in order for a
regression model to be a successful unbiased estimator. 1.The regression model is linear, is

Swot Analysis Of Hidden Valley s Taste Not Waste
Hidden Valley s taste not waste campaign encourages consumers to use their unlovable fruits and
vegetables instead of throwing them away. This campaign did not include demographics/audience
identification. They only said that their demographic was the consumers. They needed to be more
specific when stating who the consumers are. Hidden Valley also did not do any research or list
any competitors that they may have or if it even concerns them or threatens their campaign.
For over 50 years Hidden Valley has built up a very high and good reputation with consumers, and
because they have been around for so long they are knowledgeable in the food industry. Due to that

To help bring awareness to their campaign Hidden Valley made use of their Facebook page and
eBay when starting their campaign. The Taste Not Waste campaign got the attention of many
bloggers and news sources like MSNBC and the Washington Post which is a big deal. People were
even posting recipes on Pinterest for ways to use the unlovable fruits and vegetables.
Hidden Valley created limited edition bottles to help bring awareness to the problem and donate
the proceeds to support Great Nation Eats. The bottles were sold only on eBay where people
could bid in order to receive the bottle. I don t feel as if Hidden Valley really utilized or
considered their customers when they came to the decision to only sell on eBay. I think they could
have raised more money and awareness and even had more success with the campaign if they
would have sold the limited edition bottles in stores rather than just on eBay. They did not consider
how many more people they could have reached with this campaign. They really limited their reach
and did not consider their offline clientele when they planned the campaign.
They did meet the best practices and the objectives for this campaign are very specific and

The Peace Corpss
I do think that United States has basically helped other countries more than we have helped
ourselves. With some research I have done regarding this question, I will have to completely agree
that we help other more than we help ourselves. With United States having great economic success,
we can, and do, give more aid to other countries than anyone else. Yes, United Statestakes care of
its own issues before helping the other countries, but helping others is in our culture to help other
people or countries in need. From things like fund raisers for different needs around the world, or
even just charities to help aid the people in need of it. Here are my reasoning s why I believe that

members of the Peace Corps volunteer in areas like: education, health, environment, and youth in
development, community economic development, agriculture, and Peace Corps response. The
countries they usually serve are: Africa, Latin America, Asia, Eastern Europe/Central Asia, The
Caribbean, North Africa/Middle East, and the Pacific Islands. The Peace Corps budget sometimes
ranges from $350 million all the way up to $410 million. United States have also helped Haiti with
numerous things as well. They invest in four sectorial pillars, which are: Infrastructure and energy,
food and economic security, health and other basic services, and governance and rule of law. Some
of the main things of U.S. assistance to Haiti four years after the earthquake includes things like:
housing Haitians, removed millions of rubble, created jobs at the Caracol Industrial Park in Haiti s

Native American Mascots Research Paper
Sports teams across the country are all represented by a mascot. A mascot is used in a variety of
ways, but mainly to represent a team s identity and motivate both players and fans alike to bring
out the competitive spirit. Many teams are represented with normal names and themes, while
some are more controversial such as the Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Blackhawks, Cleveland
Indians, Florida State Seminoles, Atlanta Braves, and Washington Redskins (to name a few). A
prickly topic for years, even decades the usage of Native American mascots continues to strike
controversy in fans, players, alumni, as well as disinterested fans. Depending on who you talk to,
it s a stain on the organizations it affects or is it a way of honoring those who... Show more content

The reality is that most people, especially fans and some Native Americans themselves want to
keep these names. Again, depending on who you talk to keeping these names pay tribute and
honor those who have come before us. An example of this is the team Atlanta Braves. When you
think of the meaning brave, you see a person who is courageous and a person who will face and
endure danger or pain. Without teams using these names, people would not know the history or
background of some Native American tribes. We can say the actions of some mascots may be
questionable or over the top at times but they are not intended to poke fun at the Native Americans
for their culture or beliefs, they are only used for the spirit of the game and to get the crowd
pumped up. In my own opinion, I do not think Native American mascots should be discontinued.
Discontinuing these symbols or nicknames would bring a lot of pain to sponsors, supporters, the
sports club, and its fans. Bottom line, the teams that utilize these Native American themes or
symbols do not utilize them in a stereotypical or racial way. In fact, they mascots are used in a way
to honor Native Americans and to remember them

Thirty Years War
Background A thorough understanding of the Thirty Years War is essential in discussing the effects
of the Peace of Westphalia. Religion dominated authority in Europe in the 16th century, namely
Catholicism. However, dissatisfaction grew as the Protestant Reformation gained more followers,
resulting in tension and divisions throughout the Holy Roman Empire. Weakened imperial power
and unrest between ruler and subjects began as early as 1555. Although the Thirty Years War broke
out based on religious conflicts, the motives of the war became mainly of political supremacy as
fighting continued on a continental scale in the latter years. It pitted Protestant against Catholic, the
Holy Roman Empire against France, the German princes and princelings

American Laws And The Lgbtq Community
American Laws and the LGBTQ+ Community Discrimination [dih skrim uh ney shuh n]:
treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing
based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on
individual merit. Right from the dictionary, the definition is clear. Look back 95 years to 1920,
where women across America raised their voices and fought back for the right to vote. Now take a
look back 48 years ago when in 1967, interracial marriage was finally legalized. These were all
monumental events fighting against discrimination. However, the definition is still blurring in
minds of some across America as a multitude of bills are being passed permitting people to act with
bigotry towards members of the LGBTQ+ community, the Religious Freedom Restoration Acts just
being one of them. In discussions of bills such as the Religious Freedom Restoration Acts, or
RFRA s, one controversial issue has been whether or not they permit discrimination. On one hand,
those supporting the laws argue that they only reinforce the free practice of religion. On the other
hand, those against them contend that with their vagueness it plays out as disguising legal
discrimination. My own view is that the RFRA s and other anti LGBTQ+ laws should be repealed
or at the very least backed with a statewide non discrimination law for LGBTQ+ individuals. This
is in order to prevent a large amount of service being denied to LGBTQ+

New Guinea is located in Indonesia, which is situated between Asia and Australia. Papua is a
country which occupies the eastern half of New Guinea and is not a very well explored country,

of the southeastern side of the island and they are known as the Korowaitribe. The Korowai people
were discovered in Papua New Guineain 1974. This tribe along with many other tribes in Papua
New Guineaexperience little to no contact with other tribes or outsiders. The Korowai tribe is
unique because they are one of the few tribes on Earth that are still believed to practice
cannibalism. Even though they were only discovered in 1974, they are believed to... Show more

cannibalism is no longer practiced by the Korowai clans, despite reports of it as recently as 2006
(Payne, 2015). A reporter for the Smithsonian magazine named, Paul Raffaele, visited the
Korowai tribe in New Guinea to find the truth about their cannibalism. He reported that, today
the Korowai are among the very few tribes believed to eat human flesh. They live about 100
miles inland from the Arafura Sea, which is where Michael Rockefeller, a son of then New York
governor Nelson Rockefeller, disappeared in 1961 while collecting artifacts from another Papuan
tribe; his body was never found. Most Korowai still live with little knowledge of the world beyond
their homelands and frequently feud with one another. Some are said to kill and eat male witches
they call khakhua.

Analysis Of The Book Invisible Lakes
If the depth of Jay Gatsby s maniac love for Daisy was made known immediately, or the tension in
Madame Bovary didn t rise in such calculated fashion, or Moby Dick started with Captain Ahab s
fatal standoff with his white whale, some of literature s most beloved works would lose a great
amount of their clout. Organization is among the most potent tools in literature. Content always
steals the spotlight but the manner in which ideas are conveyed holds equal weight. Invisible Cities
avoids the traditional template of a logical or chronologically organized narrative. My essay
Invisible Lakes is a vain attempt to mimic the novels eclectic organization. Italio Calvino utilizes a
kaleidoscopic, narrow point of view to describe Venice in Invisible Cities, just as I do in my essay
Invisible Lakes, both to achieve the goals of alluding to larger themes, developing more palpable
scenes, and maintaining a phantasmagoric motif, each with varying results.
Calvino aims to maintain a dream like lens throughout Invisible Cities. He was thinking of all these
things when he desired a city. Isidora, therefore, is the city of his dreams: with one difference. The
dreamed of city contained him as a young man; he arrives at Isidora in his old age. In the square
there is a wall where the old men sit and watch the young boy go by; he is seated in a row with
them. Desires are already memories. Page 8, Cities and Memories, 2

Macbeth Tragic Hero Research Paper
A tragic hero can be described as a character who starts as an individual of noble stature, who then
endures a downfall in fault of their flaws leading to self destruction. In Shakespeare s Macbeth,
the protagonist Macbeth can be given the title of a tragic hero. Macbeth is a man of greatness is
seen as a royal in Scotland. He is considered very courageous, honored, dignified holds a
recognized name. He fights well for the country and brings pride to those around him. Though
being a man of greatness, the personal flaws of Macbeth such as impatience, ambition and the
manipulation of others, makes him a tragic hero.

Ghost Soldiers Book Summary
Ghost Soldiers is a book that chronicles the horrific and tragic events that happened to the prisoners
of the Japanese camp in Cabanatuan. The book intertwines two main timelines; the treatment of the
POWs in Japanese custody, starting from the death march and continuing through the rescue
mission, and the story of the Rangers assignment and how it was formed. The Bataan Death March
was the march that brought the POWs to the Cabanatuan camp. Many were shot just for slowing
down and almost all of the prisoners were severely dehydrated during the march. That lead to many
of them drinking dirty and infested water. When they reached the camp, disease and infection ran
wild. Many POWs were tortured and starved, some to death, while many others... Show more

They encountered many obstacles such as delaying 24 hours due to Japanese soldiers leaving
the camp unexpectedly. This book shows the courage of all soldiers and prisoners involved in
these events. Even with such an amazing and thrilling plot base, this book was incredibly difficult
to sit and read. Readers find themselves becoming lost and rereading passages and pages. While I
greatly respect all of the prisoners and soldiers for their courage and strength during this incredibly
troublesome encounter, this book did their valor no justice. Although this book is incredibly
descriptive and detailed, it is frequently thorough to a fault. It often takes the author three pages to
describe something that has little to no relevance to the actual plot. These little sub stories are often
left unresolved. The fact that the author goes completely off topic and rambles and then just leaves
it untouched for the rest of the story, adds to the already confusing intertwining plots and timelines.
The actual mission that the Rangers endured was entrancing all on its own . There is absolutely no
need for pages upon pages of useless side missions and

The Argument Against Instagram s Censorship In The Media
Censorship in Society The First Amendment states that we, as US citizens, have freedom of
speech. This amendment also includes freedom of the press. But there are certain limits. These
limits can be seen in such media like television and the radio. Censorship rules are set forth in
these forms of media to protect the eyes of innocent children and those who may be offended.
These sorts of media tend to limit vulgar cuss words and nudity. Included in media censoring are
women s nipples, but not the men s.
Lately there hasn t been freedom of speech, or should I say freedom of posting, in the social
networking realm. The main source that also fails to keep abreast on the progressive movement,
that is Free The Nipple, and censors the nipple is no other than the popular social networking app
we know all too well, Instagram. Instagram ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Instagram censors the female nipple, they fail to acknowledge women s equality and allow
for the perpetuation of over sexualizing women, which halts progressive times of women s rights.
It would be wise for Instagram to look over policies and make a change.
One case of Instagram s censorship is that of Scout Willis. Scout Willis famously protested
Instagram s policy by walking around New York City topless in May, to highlight the fact that
partial female nudity is legal on the street, but not on the photo app (Kutner 4). Instagram returned
Willis s comments ...with a statement saying we prohibit all forms of nudity on Instagram because
some audiences within our global community are particularly sensitive to this type of content
(Enright 9). Now one may say that Instagram is a private company and therefore can make
policies accordingly and do as they please. But one also has to look at Instagram s intentions.
Instagram is a moneymaker. Recently Facebook bought Instagram for $715 million. In addition to
this huge deal they Instagram is also starting to take

Examples Of Managing Demand Strategies for Managing Demand Shifting demand into other time periods 1.Incentives 2.Sales promotions 3.Advertising campaigns Offering products or services with counter cyclical demand patterns Partnering with suppliers to reduce information distortion along the supply chain Shifting demand into other time periods: As a customer, I came across an examples of shifting the demand into other time period many times and make me think why companies are offering such deal. Lawn guru is providing Lawn mowing service during the summer and snow cleaning during winter. It helps the company to balance the business and optimal utilization of resource during idleness of the summer and winter. Partnering with suppliers: The third approach to managing demand recognizes the information distortion caused by ordering goods in batches along a supply chain. Even though a customer may require daily usage of an item, customer probably does not purchase that item daily. Neither do retail stores restock their shelves continuously. By the time a replenishment order reaches distributors, wholesalers, manufacturers, and their suppliers, the demand pattern for a product can appear extremely erratic. To control the situation manufacturers, their suppliers, and customers form partnerships in which demand information is shared and orders are placed in a more continuous fashion. • 4. Essay on The Life and Theories of Charles Darwin The Life and Theories of Charles Darwin Charles Robert Darwin was the fifth child of Robert Waring Darwin and Susannah Wedgewood. He was born on February 12, 1809 in Shrewsbury, England where his father practiced medicine. He attended Shrewsbury Grammar School which was a well kn own secondary school which concentrated on teaching classic languages. Even as a boy Darwin loved science and his enthusiasm for chemical studies earned him the name Gas from his friends. The headmaster at Shrewsbury, Dr. Samuel Butler noted, Here s a boy, plays around with his gases and the rest of his rubbish and works at nothing useful. He was also an avid collector. The Beagle set sail from Devonport on December 27, 1831 and returned on October 2, 1836. Throughout the journey, Darwin shipped back to England crate loads of tropical plants, insects, flowers, spiders, s hells and fossil animals. He was very popular with the crew and was given the name Fly Catcher. During the five year journey, he was exposed to different species of birds, insects and reptiles. He noted that in the different environments that he visited changes occurred in the same species that helped them to adapt to their surrounding s. It was as a result of these observations and observations of other naturalists and geologists that Darwin began to formulate his theory of evolution known as Natural Selection. Darwin had left England as a youthful collector and returned as a dedicated naturalist. Before the journey, he believed like Henslow, that the history of the earth was short and whatever changes occurred were the result of vast catastrophes. By his return, he was convinced that the earth was extremely old and its evolution was the result of many small changes. Natural Selection, proposed by Darwin, is the most widely accepted theory on evolution today. The theory is based upon five basic principles. The first states that organisms ... • 5. Essay On Legalizing Medical Marijuana Legalization of Medical Marijuana The controversy on the topic is that Americans link marijuana to uneducated, unemployed, and lazy individuals who deal with addiction. Though there are valid points for the legalization of the drug, there is a worry about how the drug will affect the users. Although opponents say that legalizing medical marijuana is a back door method of legalizing the drug for recreational use, the U.S. should legalize medical marijuana because it will reduce crime, increase revenue, provide more research, and will help treat numerous medical conditions. Many people think that if marijuana is legalized, there will be an onslaught of crime. (Delmore) Studies have shown that the legalization of marijuana has truly reduced the crime rate. Robert Morris, an associate professor of criminology at UT Dallas, said, After controlling for a host of known factors related to changes in crime rates we accounted for factors such as poverty, employment, education, even per capita beer sales, among other things we found no evidence of increases in any of these crimes for states after legalizing marijuana for medical use (Ferner). He goes on to say that the studies show that homicides and assaults have decreased because of the legalization. The National Academy of Sciences found that THC, the active ingredient in... The only thing Yunior seems to want for these girls is sexual acts. This short story argues that a person s heritage, economic class, and raceaffect how a person identifies themselves, and how their identity affects how they act towards other people. He also says that he will call his friends and let them know He did it if he does hook up with one of these girls, with no respect for them. This is indicating that he is trying to hook up with these girls because he feels like his friends expect him too. Yunior does this because he sees other boys doing these things, and he wants to be like them. He wants to be the same and be accepted, and that s why he treats these different people in different ways. The main character also treats girls of different races differently. He wrongly suggests that if a girl is white, that you will definitely get a hand job before the night is through, if not more (Diaz 235). He says that white girls are the girls everyone really wants to date, because they are easy. This is why he does many things that white boys do. He also says that not many white girls live in his neighborhood, that the locals tend to be brown girls, black girls, or halfies. There was some corny scenes that Uma pays tribute to but hey, that s on the scripts end. • 9. Ode To A Grecian Urn By John Keats Essay The Romantic Sentiments of Ode to a Grecian Urn. Employing the poetic style of ekphrasis, John Keats uses his poem Ode to a Grecian Urn to study a separate work of art. Keats narrates the poem from the perspective of one carefully studying a vase while pondering the depictions of nature, love, and religious rites on its surface. His observations lead to to remark on the everlasting nature of emotions evoked by the urn, as well as the beauty of the images it induces in one who would observe it. He claims that happiness in the image is All breathing human passion far above, / that leaves a heart high sorrowful and cloy d, / a burning forehead, and a parching tongue. (27 30). With human passion, there will always exist negative consequences, from heartbreak to longing due to separation. However, in this single image, frozen in time, these could never exist. Instead the single, cheerful atmosphere will perpetually remain, and from it Keats is able to grow a larger scene with the two lovers. Beyond just notions of love, Keats extends the same logic of the perpetuated emotions to other sentiments. Frequently, a sense of intrigue or uncertainty is maintained within the poem. All throughout, Keats poses many rhetorical questions. In examining one scene he asks What men or gods are these? What maidens loth? (8). Although from following questions a general picture can be formed of men pursuing women in a wild ecstacy (10), a dominating uncertainty remains. Later, when studying a portrayal of a sacrifice of a cow, Keats poses more questions, asking What little town by river or seashore / ... is empty of this folk this pious morn? The pavilions (five on either side of the lawn) were meant to be classrooms as well as faculty housing. The dormitories were built to house the students of the universityand had bathrooms and showers dispersed throughout, though not in individual rooms. Jefferson references the great architectural buildings of the past such as the pantheon to show his connection to the great teachers of history. However, despite the similarities, Jefferson makes some bold statements with what he does not include. His library is based on the pantheon, yet does not reference religion. In fact, there is no place in his plan for the university that focused on religion. This reflects Jefferson s mentality that learning should be a secular entity, and thus his university has no religious affiliation, the first such public institution in the nation. Another interesting idea is that of the integrated faculty housing. In this manner, by having faculty housing, Jefferson showed how he viewed learning as a lifelong endeavor, that both faculty and students were in pursuit of. Each of the pavilions was also based on a different classical roman temple, to express the many varied disciplines taught at the university. The facades of each pavilion were intended to serve as architectural models to expand learning. On a more concrete level, the design of the university also reflects the social climate of the time, one which Jefferson adhered to. The university was originally a males only institution, as can be seen by how the dormitories are un segregated with bathrooms that allowed students to be seen in various stages of undress. George Orwellknew what he was talking about when he wrote of a society in which all things are monitored by the governmentand an individual s right to privacyis breached for the sake of peace and safety. Maybe government does have the right to obtain what they want for their discretion, and we should trust that they will not abuse that power. It is true that the people of America do not know the plans of various government agencies, and perhaps it is best that we accept that and let them do their work. Besides, just imagine all of the terrorist attacks and other incidents that will be prevented by these national security measures. While all these points are logical, they re missing the point. Ignorance is not bliss, and a privacy invasion such as one that is occurring now cannot continue. These national security measures are slowly eating away our basic freedoms and liberties. Instead of loosing money you would have made a huge return on your money. The above example clearly shows why most hard working Americans can not get ahead. You are saving your money in US Dollars and the US Dollar is consistently loosing value. Furthermore, the paltry interest that most accounts pay can barely keep up with inflation let alone the dollars depreciation. In all of my years as a financial advisor I have never met a single middle class or affluent client that had a multi currency account. Every thing they owned and invested in was in American dollars. In the above example, not only would you have earned interest on your money you also would have made a substantial amount of money simply based on the rising value of the Swiss Franc and the declining value of the US Dollar. It was not until I met and started talking to some multi millionaires that I became aware of the power of multi currency accounts. Communication creates and rebuilds relationships which can last a lifetime. Even though, communication could create strong bonds it could also destroy those bonds. When it comes to communicating, everyone has their flaws as well as me. One of my flaws, when it comes to communicating, is having the courage to speak my mindwithin important and necessary conversations. When it comes to communicating, I tend to hold my tongue instead of expressing how I truly feel. Even though I know that not all conversations need your opinion or advice, there s still those conversations that do. There are certain reasons that I have decided to keep my thoughts and feelings to myself while having conversations with others: fear that the way others perception of me would change negatively, fear of not knowing how they will respond or accept and the fear of leaving my stuff vulnerable in front of someone that could possibly hurt me mentally and emotionally. I have yet to figure out what should be said at the appropriate time, so I rather just keep my thoughts and comments to myself because I cannot do any harm if I m quiet. • 15. The Value Of Filial Piety Culture: I applied symbolic interactionism. As one of the oldest countries in the world, China dates back to ten thousand years. With more than five thousand years of traditional culture, China has a formal set of values, beliefs, customs, language, etc., which have been passed generations. Confucianism is the most influential philosophy guiding Chinese people living in different centuries. The Confucian based values including harmony, filial piety, and obligation help shape my personality. The value of harmony: Confucianism emphasizes the importance of building harmonious relationships with others to make the society stable (Kaplan). It means that in every relationship, people should show benevolence, righteousness, loyalty, and humility. These values profoundly influence Chinese people including my family members. Husband and wife, parents and children, and friend and friend only maintain a harmonious relationship, they could make a stable society. The value of filial piety: Chinese society is characterized by patriarchy and hierarchy. Elders make the most decisions. Confucianism advocates people to show respect and compliance for elders. Most of the Chinese people treat filial piety as the most important traditional value. It requires the younger generation to follow the elders words without a doubt. If a kid disputes with his/her parents, he/she shows unrespect for the parents. The value of obligation: Each personal has different social roles in different social ... The Affordable Health Care for America Act or H.R. 3962, blends and updates the three versions of previous bills passed by the House committees. (Kruger, M. 2010) This bill is expected to ease the out of control costs of health insurance, introduce competition into the health care marketplace that will help maintain coverage affordability, protect people s choices of doctors and health plans, and guarantee all Americans access to quality, consistent , affordable health care. • 17. Essay about Rime of Ancient Mariner The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, a complex tale of an old seafarer, was written by Samuel Taylor Coleridge and published in 1798. According to the Longman Anthology of British Literature, the work first appeared in Lyrical Ballads , a publication co authored with William Wordsworth (557). The ancient mariner s journey provides for such a supernatural tale, that all who must hear it, specifically the wedding guest in the poem, are enthralled. Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of the mariner s tale is the obvious themes of sinand redemption. By using the story within a story method, Coleridge gives the audience a tale that resembles a very Christian like voyage from one theme, sin, to the final theme, redemption. Throughout his poem,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In James 1:17, the Bible says, Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above. The audience, whether religious or not, is aware that the albatross is meant to be a Christian symbol. From this point forward, the author shapes the story around the arrival and presence of the Albatross and the subsequent events. For reasons not specifically mentioned in the text, the mariner kills the albatross, which can be easily related to a couple of infamous Christian sins. First, the reader can see obvious similarities between the mariner and the Biblical character Adam. According to Christian belief, Adam committed the original sin that caused mankind to suffer as a whole (Harent 3). In The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, the original sin is the mariner s killing of the God sent albatross. Even though the crew, like humanity, did not commit the original sin, they ultimately inherit the repercussions of the sin. The mariner admits that he understands that his actions would affect his shipmates when he says: And I had done a hellish thing/ And it would work em woe (Coleridge ll. 91 92) Also relatable to the mariner s sin is the story of Judas, a Biblical character who, in Luke 22, is said to have betrayed Christ, leading to His ultimate crucifixion at the hands of humans. Judas and the mariner can be seen as the typical, universal sinner who betrays God by transgressing against Him. In this poem s case, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That may be true that Prisons exist for punishment, but they also have an important contribution to make to reducing re offending by engaging prisoners in rehabilitation programs and purposeful work. Society is flawed in its thinking that by putting criminals in a place away from society we would be better off. To make it worse I am sure that more that 60 percent of Americans are against social reform because they have made up their mind that once a crook, always a crook. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Prison life can be harsh, and time spent in a isolation is even worse. A majority of those in prison spend countless hours in idleness. It would be much better if they used that time to reeducate themselves for a productive life on the outside. Some of the prisoners have serious emotional and mental problems that are never addressed and it is illogical to not attempt to correct these problems before they are released. There are even worse scenarios that exist in today s prisons. The prison guards have little control and prison can be a violent place because again it is not a place that specializes in rehab. On television shows you see inmates stabbing each other and are quick to assume that it is a dramatization, but it really an occurrence that happens often, in prisons all over the world for that matter. In an article by Raphael Rowe he writes about how a part of him died in prison, and he had to be on his guard constantly, Once, I was sitting in the television room watching football when someone I knew came in and told me to leave the room. I didn t ask questions: I just left and stood outside. A few seconds later, three other guys came running past me, pillow cases with eye holes cut out over their heads, carrying a huge cooking pot full of hot oil. Romeo in the film is always compared to blue or Water. I think the director decided to associate Romeo to blue to show the audience that he is a calm and trusting person. For example he is always wearing a blue shirt. He is also associated to water, I think the director decided to do this because water is neutral, no one owns the water. So when he is with Juliet he isn t the Montague , he is only a boy. This because water is clean and washes away his name. The process of being influenced is the way people shape their values. Otherwise, people will hold only one singular value, which is dangerous to their mental health. Through directly or indirectly influences under the immediate environment, people learn to adjust their moods, which is the key leading to happiness. Jane Goodall in In the Forests of Gombe shares her experience in the forest. When she stayed with chimpanzees, she feels peaceful. The natural environmenthelps her to get out of the sadness of her husbands (Derek) death. The days in the forest made Goodall believe that religion and science are not mutually exclusive. Alain de Bottonin On Habit discusses a traveling mindset, which means that people are more likely to accept and respect new things during traveling. However, when they back home, they lost this traveling mindset, so they feel their lives are boring. Such traveling mindset teaches people to always explore their lives and use different views to see their surroundings. Both authors talk about how their psyches are related to the environment. Goodall focuses on how the environment affects her mental status, while de Botton tells different mindsets can change people s views toward the environment. But, the recent rise in child related crimes in the past decade has made this kind of check even more important, not only to people hiring childcare workers, but for anyone that will be providing care for a child in any way. This includes volunteers working with children in a public daycare center, church daycare center, home daycare center, and even for volunteers at summer camp. Parents have become much more protective over their children, and with good cause (Oliveri, 2008). For this reason, I would like to become a Civil Rights lawyer so I can aid those in the corrupt justice system in the U.S and allow them to express their inalienable rights that is so granted to all by our constitution. • 34. Dallas Mavericks Case Study The Dallas Mavericks have had an interesting offseason to say the least. The free agency period started off fantastic for the team but got rough very quickly. With the pending signing of a massive free agent in Deandre Jordan, Mavericks fans were on cloud nine. We all know how the Jordan saga played out, so Dallas had to look elsewhere in free agency and through trades. Dallas signed a young shooting guard in Wesley Matthews and an aging point guard in Deron Williams. The team also traded for veteran center Zaza Pachulia to bolster their front court. All three of these players are great assets to the team and will be worked into the Mavericks starting five in 2015 16. Dallas made some great real life acquisitions but are they fantasy relevant?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The loss of Tyson Chandler to the Suns through free agency and Deandre Jordan deciding to stay with the Clippers almost crippled the Mavs. Pachulia won t be the saving grace for the franchise, but he will bring talent and veteran leadership to the club. Pachulia put up good defensive numbers for the Bucks last season, and can really excel at both ends of the floor. A solid role player, Pachulia has averaged 7.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per game during his 12 year NBA career. Pachulia won t come close to performing like Deandre Jordan or even Tyson Chandler. However, he will be a solid performer at center this season and has a keen ability to protect the paint. He ll most likely be sharing court time with Samuel Dalembert and Dwight Powell so I don t expect much better numbers than his career average. Carlisle tends to also like to play small ball, sticking Parsons at power forward and Nowitzki at center. Both of these things could put a damper on the fantasy success of Pachulia. Pachulia is a very intriguing fantasy option, but I just don t see a supreme value for him going forward. Taking him as a late round pick in drafts or scooping him up on waivers will be the best option going forward. There will be plenty of opportunities to grab rebounds and put back shots for Pachulia, but will that be enough to justify a roster spot on your team? I say give him a try but temper your ... In order to maintain the reliability and the integrity of the research, the regression model should include not only the independent variables that were chosen based on their characteristics, but also the possible impacts from other sources and the unexplained variation. The part that simply cannot be explained is called stochastic error term. Serial correlation is a violation of Assumption IV, the uncorrelated observations of the error term. When serial correlation occurs, it means the independent variable has correlation with the error term. It occurs the most in time series data because ...Serial correlation occurs when the error term from one time period depends in a systematic way on the error term from a different time period... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this model, since there are only 9 observations and 4 independent variables, the critical values of dl and du when N=15 was used from the appendix. The dl = 0.69 and du = 1.97. The Durbin Watson statistic of this model is 1.42, which places in within the interval of [0.69, 1.97]. This means the result is inconclusive; we can neither reject the null hypothesis nor accept it. Such result could be caused by the variables and other factors that are not explained by the chosen independent variables. Other than the current result of the DW test, positive serial correlation is still a major possible outcome of time series data. Positive serial correlation indicates that the positive errors for one observation increase the probability of a positive error for another observation, and vice versa. In order to remedy serial correlation, GLS is introduced. Generalized least squares (GLS) is a method of ridding an equation of pure first order serial correlation and in the process restoring the minimum variance property to its estimation (Studenmund, 2006). In this model, GLS did not necessarily run because of the inconclusive result of the DW test, so that the presence of serial correlation is unsure. Classical Assumptions of OLS Following are the seven classical assumptions of OLS that must be held in order for a regression model to be a successful unbiased estimator. 1.The regression model is linear, is ... American Laws And The Lgbtq Community American Laws and the LGBTQ+ Community Discrimination [dih skrim uh ney shuh n]: treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit. Right from the dictionary, the definition is clear. Look back 95 years to 1920, where women across America raised their voices and fought back for the right to vote. Now take a look back 48 years ago when in 1967, interracial marriage was finally legalized. These were all monumental events fighting against discrimination. In discussions of bills such as the Religious Freedom Restoration Acts, or RFRA s, one controversial issue has been whether or not they permit discrimination. On one hand, those supporting the laws argue that they only reinforce the free practice of religion. On the other hand, those against them contend that with their vagueness it plays out as disguising legal discrimination. Analysis Of The Book Invisible Lakes If the depth of Jay Gatsby s maniac love for Daisy was made known immediately, or the tension in Madame Bovary didn t rise in such calculated fashion, or Moby Dick started with Captain Ahab s fatal standoff with his white whale, some of literature s most beloved works would lose a great amount of their clout. Organization is among the most potent tools in literature. Content always steals the spotlight but the manner in which ideas are conveyed holds equal weight. Invisible Cities avoids the traditional template of a logical or chronologically organized narrative. My essay Invisible Lakes is a vain attempt to mimic the novels eclectic organization. Italio Calvino utilizes a kaleidoscopic, narrow point of view to describe Venice in Invisible Cities, just as I do in my essay Invisible Lakes, both to achieve the goals of alluding to larger themes, developing more palpable scenes, and maintaining a phantasmagoric motif, each with varying results. Calvino aims to maintain a dream like lens throughout Invisible Cities. He was thinking of all these things when he desired a city. Isidora, therefore, is the city of his dreams: with one difference. The dreamed of city contained him as a young man; he arrives at Isidora in his old age.
