The North Roanoke Baptist Association has made enormous progress, but as we look into the future, there is much that needs to be done to become a healthy, effective organization. It is time to take another step to fulfill our potential. In the future, association ministry will once again be the essential organization for cooperative in Southern Baptist Life.
We have very capable pastors and ministry leaders serving on our various ministry teams. They can develop innovative ideas for ministry; but only God knows the strategy for our unique circumstance which will strengthen churches, unite us in ministry, and enable us to fulfill the Great Commission. As we seek Him by praying together and dare to depend upon Him to guide us, He will give direction. We will see God working in our circumstances by opening new doors of opportunity and bringing new people and resources across our paths. When we then take a step of faith based on what God has revealed, we sill see Him do the miraculous. This is the amazing adventure of living in obedience to Him.
In a world that is becoming more confused and disoriented in the darkness of sin and desperation - this level of obedience will be required in order to have an effective witness of the power of God.
The document provides an annual report on the faith formation activities at Broadmoor Community Church from 2016-2017. It summarizes that the children/youth participated in various summer activities including camp and volunteer opportunities. Throughout the year, educational programs were offered for various age groups on topics like white privilege. Special multigenerational events were held for Advent and Lent. The report concludes by praising the volunteers and staff that supported the faith formation ministries.
Small Town Summits was formed to help fill small places in New England with gospel-centered churches through regional conferences and training events. They host one-day summits that provide training and encouragement for small-town church leaders. They also create resources like a podcast and articles to support these leaders. They are seeking to expand their work by assembling a partner team of leaders in each state, pursuing publishing opportunities, and hiring an executive director, though they need financial support to do so.
The document provides updates from Faith Moravian Church over the past few months. It discusses various fellowship and outreach activities the congregation participated in, including a health fair, mission work, and youth events. Two areas of focus have been evangelism and stewardship. While member commitment to these programs needs improvement, the health fair continues to grow and engage the community each year. The pastor encourages the congregation to support the church's mission to spread the gospel and serve others.
Preparing the Way for Grace United Church of Christpriscillaq
This document proposes prayer walking as a way for Grace United Church of Christ to empower their community in Sauk Village, Illinois. It suggests that church members walk around the neighborhood together and pray for the people and places they encounter. Prayer walking puts prayers into action by going into the community where people live. As church members walk and pray, they can pray more specifically for the needs they observe, such as praying for children they see playing. Prayer walking helps connect the church to the community and allows God to work through opportunities to share faith with people encountered during the walks. Scheduling prayer walks as a church activity can strengthen the church's prayers for their neighborhood.
This issue of the church newsletter covers several topics:
1) The interim rector calls on parishioners to get more involved in the church by volunteering their time and talents, as Christian education programs and Vacation Bible School will need new leaders.

3) The treasurer reports that the church has a budget surplus for 2010 and expects to break even in 2011, though pledges are down so no new programs or staff can be added for now.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

Finance Team will move to add $5,000 to the “Building and Grounds” line of 2022 Budget
The Assets Management Team (formally Property Committee) has done an outstanding job of repairing
and upgrading the 38-year-old association office. During the last 6-8 years, team members have personally
donated over $15K worth of skilled labor. Several contractors have donated labor or greatly reduced their
normal charges.
Improvements include new roof, replacement windows, new HVAC system, foundation repair, new floor
insulation, floor leveling, numerous electrical and plumbing repairs and improvements, WiFi upgrades, new
flooring, and kitchen appliances. Worn out furnishings in the building have been replaced by selling old light
fixtures donated to the association by NRBA churches to pay for furniture upgrades. We are getting close to
completing the renovation process.
This team has requested that an additional $5,000 be added to the “Building and Grounds” line in the 2022
Budget to repair walls, and finish painting and other repairs that may arise by the end of this year. Repairs to
the walls will require professional experience.
Biblical Recorder
Rev. Mike Stamper, Arlington Pastor, will make a brief presentation regarding the Biblical Recorder, the
magazine of the Baptist State Convention. He currently serves on the BR Board. By subscribing to the
Biblical Recorder, you can -
• Learn about ministry opportunities,
• outstanding training events
• Be informed about ministries you support
• Be inspired by innovative ministry ideas from other churches across the state
• Asking God to Use and Direct Us in His Service
Dr. Chris Schofield, former Director of Prayer and Spiritual Renewal for the Baptist State Convention, will
be leading us during a time of prayer. He will be sharing with us the imperative of prayer in planning for
the future. A few years ago, in another conference, Chris made this statement: “We act upon what we pray
toward.” God is not obligated to bless our ideas no matter how pure our motives may be. But He will bless
His plans if we are willing to pray for His direction, wait for His instruction, and obey Him by faith. During
this meeting our emphasis will be about praying toward God’s direction for our personal ministry, that of our
church, and the association. We will experience a prayer session you can adapt for use in your church. We
are making a special appeal for every church messenger and NRBA Team Member to be present during this
important meeting.

I am often amazed by the hand of God that I have
been able to see in the life of our association
and its member churches. On several occasions,
while preaching or during a training event, I have
been so overwhelmed that I could barely finish the
presentation through the tears. The only explanation
that I could give was, “I have been able to see God
at work this week and I am overwhelmed.” It is
through these experiences that God has sustained me
in this ministry. I am convinced that God will use
the NRBA in a mighty way in days to come.
Our association has made enormous progress, but
as we look to the future, there is much that needs to
be done to become a healthy, effective organization.
It is time to take another step to fulfill our potential.
In the future, association ministry will once again be
the essential organization for cooperative ministry
in Southern Baptist life. Associations were formed
shortly after the establishment of Baptist Churches
because churches become stronger and more
effective in ministry by working together. This will
occur when you are able to observe and experience
the work of God in the same way that I have since
being a part of the North Roanoke Association.
Occasionally, opportunities arise in which I am
able to initiate new ministries which will help us
to work together, provide needed training, and
develop an outward ministry focus beyond our
personal needs. Each of these ministries has been
the result of the miraculous intervention of God.
In order to move forward to the future God has
for us as an association, it is essential that we seek
God’s direction and work together in the process
of formulating and sustaining new ministries. The
following process will lead us to that blessing.
We have very capable pastors and ministry leaders
serving on our various ministry teams. They can
develop innovative ideas for ministry; but only God
knows the strategy for our unique circumstance
which will strengthen churches, unite us in ministry,
and enable us to fulfill the Great Commission. As
we seek Him by praying together and dare to depend
upon Him to guide us, He will give direction. When
we consistently pray with a willingness to wait on
Him, new ideas will come to mind we had not
previously considered. The Holy Spirit will speak
to us individually and as a group. We will see God
working in our circumstances by opening new
doors of opportunity and bringing new people and
resources across our paths. When meeting together,
we will be blessed and inspired as we share how God
is uniformly leading us all in the same direction.
This personal involvement in the adventure of
following the Lord together will unite us in the work
He has called us to do. When we then take a step
of faith based on what God has revealed, we will
see Him do the miraculous. This is the amazing
adventure of living in obedience to Him.
In a world that is becoming more confused and
disoriented in the darkness of sin and desperation
– this level of obedience will be required in order to
have an effective witness of the power of God. This is
your association. It will be as effective and helpful as
your involvement will allow it to be. Are you willing
to go on this journey as we pray together, and seek
His face, and see what God will do through us?

Macedonia Church wanted to do some type of
outreach ministry while being Covid-safe.
Supply pastor, Billy Webb, had been praying about
sending a letter
to every home
within a certain
area surrounding
the church. The
letter will share
the gospel to the
recipients. He was
trying to figure
out the best way to
get the addresses
of people. We
discovered that
there is a resource
available to
churches that
gives the names
and addresses in
a database you can customize to fit who you are
trying to reach. It is called “Bless Every Home”
and the web address is BlessEveryHome.com.
Macedonia was able to get the needed information
in an easy to use format so the project could be
completed in a short period of time. Church
members volunteered to fold the letters, stuff them
in envelopes, label, and stamp them.
About 28 members
volunteered and we
were able to have
them ready in a short
period of time.
We prayed over the
letters when we had
them ready to mail.
We sent them out
praying that the
person who needed
the message of hope
would be the one to
receive one of the
letters.

Momeyer Servant Leaders Helped in Food Distribution
Due to the lingering impact of the pandemic and struggling economy,
A Touch of the Father’s Love Ministry & Food Pantry in Spring
Hope continues to serve an unprecedented need for Nash County citizens.
It also serves some residents in surrounding Edgecombe, Wilson, Halifax
and Franklin Counties. Almost 2 million pounds were distributed in
2021 to over 28,000 households. The Pantry strives to meet an ongoing
surge for food for senior citizens, families, children, US Veterans and,
most recently, QVC employees who lost their jobs due to the tragic fire.
In addition, Sophie’s Paws Pet Pantry provides donated food for family
pets and rescue shelters. It also supports the Nash County Sheriff’s
Department K-9 Unit with treats and fetch toys.

On Saturday,
February 19-11,
servants of Momeyer
Baptist Church
supported “A Touch

NC. The team worked in
helping with their food
distribution process.
Around 80 families were
provided with a food box
on this day.
This ministry shows the
dedication and love of
God’s people serving
those less fortunate. As
we are humbled to be the

The servant volunteers
experienced great joy in
helping those in need.
We are grateful for the ongoing

Sunset Avenue Church
Sunset Avenue Baptist Church’s student ministry had the privilege
of serving with Sleep In Heavenly Peace at a recent Disciple NOW
weekend. This organization provides beds for children sleeping on the
floor. There are several chapters of the organization throughout North
Carolina. They seek to meet the very basic needs of children and families
in local communities.
“We fully believe that a bed is a basic need for the proper physical,
emotional, and mental support that a child needs. When it was brought
to our attention that the need for beds went far beyond our own
neighborhoods, we stepped up and took initiative. We’re a national
organization answering the call to a national problem. All children
deserve a safe, comfortable place to lay their heads. In Idaho and across
the U.S., too many boys and girls go without a bed - or even a pillow - to
sleep on. These children end up sleeping on couches, blankets, and even
floors. This can affect their happiness and health. That’s where Sleep
in Heavenly Peace comes in. We’re a group of volunteers dedicated to
building, assembling, and delivering top-notch bunk beds to children and
families in need.”

Youth Group Outreach
Sunset Avenue Baptist Church’s student ministry partnered with their local chapter in Rocky Mount,
NC. Their students were able to build around sixty beds during a four-hour build on a Saturday
morning. This experience allowed the students to see the needs of the community around them and
empowered them to help meet the need. It demonstrates the very basics of having compassion and
love for those that God has placed around you. The students at Sunset Avenue Baptist Church have
served in different ways over the past few years and it is always something that excites them. Some
of the opportunities involved on their build day were cutting boards, sanding, drilling, constructing,
and staining head boards. There are many
opportunities to serve that involve a majority of
ages during the build days.
If you or your church is interested in partnering
with this wonderful ministry, there are several
ways that you can help. You can donate money
towards the building materials or donate
bedding to your local chapter. You can help
partner with your local chapter to help build the
beds. You can also be part of a delivery team
that takes beds to the homes and sets them up.
If you have questions please consider visiting their
website at www.shpbeds.org.
One of the biggest takeaways from serving with
this organization is being exposed to the vast and
very basic needs of our communities. If we are not
careful we can wall ourselves off to those hurting
and in need around us. Pray as a church that God
would open your eyes to the hurting, broken,
and needy around you. There are plenty of
organizations like Sleep In Heavenly Peace for
you to partner with and tons of opportunities
awaiting the church. Consider how you might
join God in the work that is ongoing in your
community.

Uncommon Christian Speaker Series
continues at Weldon Church
Having received good media coverage days prior to the event, the result
was a nice mix of area civic leaders, residents, and pastors who came
to hear 2020-22 North Carolina Baptist president, Dr. Micheal S. Pardue, Sr.
His February 8th visit was likely the first-ever by a North Carolina Baptist
president to 157-year-old Weldon Baptist. Based on Deuteronomy 4:1-6,
Pardue delivered a message on, “Obedience to God’s Commandments:
The Christian’s Response to Our Secular Age.” A video of the 30-minute
message is viewable on the church’s Facebook page. Pardue was the fourth
speaker in Weldon Baptist’s new Uncommon Christian Speaker Series, that
began in July 2021. While in the eastern part of the state, his visit to Weldon
was one of six speaking engagements in four counties - Halifax, Johnston,
Northampton and Onslow - during his 3-day trip away from the church
he pastors in Connelly Springs. His wife, Rachel, and four of their seven
children, traveled with him. Prior to the message, the church’s hospitality
committee provided a complimentary lunch.

Englewood Church Youth Group @ PeaceMakers
March 25-27 was our annual
DNOW Weekend here at
Englewood Baptist Church in
Rocky Mount. This year’s theme
was INVEST and was all about
investing in relationships in the way
God designed.
On Saturday, we took our students
to Peacemakers for them to invest
in their community. There we split
up into teams with some working
on landscaping, others inventorying
and organizing supplies, and others
decorating rooms in preparation
for Freedom School. While at
Peacemakers, Lemanuel Williams, a
great friend of mine and employee
of Peacemakers, led our students in
an incredible activity challenging
them to solve a problem that is a
reality for many in our community.
The students had to work together
to solve a problem and the Lord
opened their eyes to the reality of
the poverty around them and the
role they could and should play in
ministering to the poor.
Unanimously, every student I have
interacted with since has stated
that their time at Peacemakers was
one of their favorite parts of the
weekend - even over games and
food! We, the church, need to strive
to provide more opportunities for
our students to put feet to their
faith and invest in their community.

In Acts 4:24 the disciples demonstrated their
dependence upon the Lord by uniting together
in “one-accord” prayer. Prayer was their first
response and a lifestyle for them and, therefore,
served more than a cursory role in their lives
personally and corporately. Like Jesus, the disciples
understood prayer was foundational to the very life
and ministry of the community as a whole (Mark
1:35, Matthew 6:9-13, Luke 6:12,
John 17).
The use of the word
“one accord” in
Acts 4:24 is
significant.
The term,
which is
used ten
times
in Acts,
is only
used
one other
time in the
rest of the
New Testament
(Romans 15:6). Five
of the ten times it is used
in Acts, “one accord” refers to
the united prayer patterns of the first-century
church. This was a unique character trait of the early
church. They believed praying together was not only
necessary, but at the center of their very lives and
existence as a community.
“One-accord” prayer is very descriptive as it points
to how they prayed together. First, they prayed with
Spirit-led passion. They were of the same heart and
earnest desire which was produced by God’s Spirit,
Who lived in them. Second, they went before God
with the same mind. The early church was moving
in a united direction because the Holy Spirit was
directing them to pray toward the same purpose or
end goal (i.e., boldness, signs and wonders). Third,
they prayed together at the same time or in the same
effort of prayer. They were compelled by the Spirit to
stop everything and begin praying at that moment.
This oneness in passion, purpose, and timing was
only made possible as the community
surrendered to the indwelling
and prompting of the
Spirit of God.
During the
1857-59
Layman’s
Prayer
Revival
in
America,
people
united
in one-
accord
prayer during
united prayer
meetings focused on
the salvation of the lost
and sanctification of the saints.
In Columbus, Ohio, a group prayed
specifically for lost students in local schools. Soon,
one high school reported all but two of their students
had been converted.
God sends revival when His people are dependent
upon Him through Spirit-led, one-accord prayer.
What could God do across America if the church did
this?

2022 TARHEEL Leadership
Satellite @ NRBA
“I recently completed the year long Tar Heel
Leadership (THL) program. What a timely
piece of insight, encouragement, and education this
class was. It was a very encouraging time to meet
with a few local pastors and go through several topics
and situations that face pastors every day. Dr. Corts
and his team did a magnificent job of presenting
certain issues, policies, and solutions to areas that are
often overlooked in church life, but are very crucial
to church health. I am honored to have taken part
in the inaugural distance learning portion of THL.
Up until last year, the class has only been offered in
Clemmons, NC, therefore making it difficult for those
of us in Eastern NC to attend. I would have never
been able to attend this valuable training class if it
wasn’t for the support of the churches in the NRBA.
So from this pastor, Thank You local churches. I want
to encourage all pastors, if you get a chance, do not
pass up the opportunity to attend this program!”

Making the Most of Our Regular Bible Reading
First — establish a non-negotiable time and
place when you will read the Bible away from
distractions and interruptions. Remember this is the
way God has chosen to reveal Himself! The goal is
not to finish a a bit of reading but to meet the living
God, to be transformed by Him and to know Him
for who He really is!
Second - make use of a reading plan that has you
reading through all of the Bible - all 66 books. There
are scores of easy-to-find reading plans.
Third - interact with your reading by asking
worthwhile questions. These include:
What does this passage teach me about God (His
character, His works, His ways, His heart)?
What does this passage teach me about the human
condition– including myself (our inclinations,
preferences , assumptions, etc)?
In this passage, is there: a command to obey? an
example to follow? a sin to avoid? a warning to pay
careful attention to? A promise to trust? And let’s
remember—all these questions are answered “by
grace, through Christ” so we avoid legalism and
self-righteousness, and instead, develop hearts of
gratitude, trust, and humility.
Is there a portion from the reading I want to
memorize/meditate upon?
Healthy Bible Study will follow this pattern:
• Read it Through
• Think it Through (using the above questions)
• Write it Down
• Pray it In
• Live it Out
• Pass it On
Nothing is better than regular time in God’s Word.
A few supplemental devotions I’ve found helpful are
Morning and Evening by Charles Spurgeon (updated
by Alistair Begg), New Morning Mercies by Paul
Tripp, and Unlocking the Bible by Colin Smith.
Regular and worthwhile Bible Reading is absolutely
essential if we are to abide in Christ, grow in
maturity, and navigate this life with wisdom, purpose
and joy.

Southside’s Midweek
Wednesdays at Southside have been completely remade and
they are awesome! At 10:30 am we have a Bible study class
for adults. Our evenings kick-off with a time of fellowship and
meal at 5:15 pm. Children go to a VBS style event from 6pm-8pm
including Bible study, missions, recreation, and music rotations.
Our Youth have a time of fellowship and games from 6-7PM, and
then a time of worship and Bible study from 7-8PM. Adults have
choices. I mentioned the 10:30AM Bible study, but there is more
that evening. We offer options
for adults at 6PM and 7PM.
Or an adult may choose Bible
study one hour and then serve
the other hour in our children’s
ministry, youth ministry, or as
an adult teacher. Some adults
go to Bible study both hours.
For our adults, Midweek is
all about options for you to
choose. Midweek is an amazing
opportunity for our church.
We are excited about all the
opportunities the new schedule
allows for our church.

SANDY CREEK Volunteered @ InJoy
Amazing Grace Race Youth Ministry
The Amazing Grace Race,
a two- to three-day race
across the state, where kids
can experience a once-in-
a-lifetime trip within their
own state, discovering
places they’d never seen and
exploring places they may
have heard of but had never
visited. But we didn’t just
want it to be all about fun and
games, so we filled about half
of the race with missions-
minded service challenges
to expose our youth to some
ministries and organizations
who were making a difference
in the world that would hopefully inspire them to
make a difference when they got back home.
This year, with a brand new group of young
youth students (7th-12th graders) and a team of
adult volunteer drivers, we had four teams of five
people set out for the Outer Banks, completing 12
challenges on day one and making our way through
Rocky Mount, Enfield, Ahoskie, Edenton, and
Elizabeth City to name a few and ending on the
beach of the Outer Banks. The challenges included
stocking shelves at the InJoy store in Rocky Mount,
touring a peanut factory, numerous scavenger
hunts, helping out at nursing homes, building kites,
playing disc golf, and eating a flaming hot turkey
wing (there’s always a food
challenge). Our hope
was that as we returned
to “normal” by returning
to the race, we would also
return the love of Jesus
and joy of life to the areas
we visited, in hopes of our
youth returning one day
themselves.
Overall, the goal is to
explore and discover the
wonder of God’s world
in their own state and
hopefully see the love of
Jesus through the various
partners who help us out and share/show the love
of Jesus by doing some good through the service
challenges along the way.
Thank you so much, John, for helping out with
our Amazing Grace Race this year! Your stop was
truly special to the groups. Many of our racers
have commented about how neat the InJoy store
was and how they would like to start donating
their stuff to that store on a regular basis. I
appreciate your hard work and dedication to
making it a very memorable stop. Thank you
again for all you did for our students. May God
bless you in return for your help.

Each of the local ministries we support is a
non-profit 501c3, financially supported by
individual NRBA churches, and ministers within
our association geographic area. They include an
evangelistic component in their ministry and invite
churches to volunteer in service with them. Every
ministry is constantly seeking volunteers to serve
in many ways – including office assistance and
Board members, in addition to hands-on, day-to-
day interaction with people to which they minister.
Volunteers are free to be a source of encouragement
to others, pray, and share Christ. This opens the
door for any church to exhibit a positive ministry
influence in the community.
The association receives no income through InJoy.
Last year, the store gave away $330,000. This
was made possible by volunteers, donations, and
shoppers from our association churches and the
community at large. The association benefits as
we work together in this endeavor. It provides
an opportunity for churches to connect to the
community and strengthen outward ministry focus.
Churches often have members that are looking for
a way to be engaged in ministry while enjoying the
fellowship and interaction with others.
This year we are promoting a new Stuff-a-Truck
emphasis. Would your church be willing to set aside
a Sunday in which church members could bring a
bag or box of gently used items to fill up the InJoy
Truck? Before or after services worshippers could
drop off items to fill the truck. It is an opportunity
for you to promote the ministry of the store.
Contact the Association office to schedule a date on
the calendar. Pastor Joe Price, Community Ministry
Team Leader for the association, promoted Stuff-a-
Truck at Avalon -- the church got started and had a
good response.

God has opened doors for us to send volunteers into Hungary and Poland to assist with refugees who
have left Ukraine. Because of the war, things change often, right now, we are sending volunteers to
assist displaced refugees. One way we are helping is through providing ready-to-eat meals, as many have
no easy way to prepare food themselves. Individuals then receive a loaf of bread, a jar of sausage spread
(a local favorite), and part of a cake, which will feed them for a day. We can provide this meal for $2 US.
Your gifts to Baptists on Mission-Ukraine Crisis Relief will be a blessing to thousands of hurting people
in the name of Christ.
