Crafting a coherent argument requires a deep understanding of social media's multifaceted nature as well as an ability to critically evaluate different viewpoints. Additionally, the rapid evolution of social media trends necessitates ongoing research to ensure the essay reflects the most recent information. Addressing counterarguments strengthens the essay's persuasiveness but adds complexity. Despite the challenges, exploring social media's intricacies through an argumentative essay can offer intellectual rewards if a balance between depth and clarity is achieved.

2. The Theory Of Cognitive Therapy
Abstract
The theory of Cognitive Therapy was Beck s initial therapy approach to depression. This paper
will provide an overview of Cognitive Therapy and treatment modalities for depression, as well as
the writer s personal view on counseling and cognitive therapy. Additionally, the paper will examine
depression as a presenting problem and the use (application) of Cognitive Therapy theory to treating
a person with depression.
Cognitive Therapy Theory as Applied to Depression
Review of Cognitive Therapy Theory Cognitive Therapy (CT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
(CBT) are used interchangeable. Cognitive therapy is a series of short term treatments that teaches
specific skills.
Aaron T. Beck is known as the founder of CT for depression in the 1960s and 70s, and he and
some colleagues developed a full manual that described the treatment (DeRubeis, Siegle, Hollon,
2008, p. 789). Further, the authors indicates that in CT the role of the therapist is to teach the
individual how to acquire the basic skills to recognize negative thoughts and images that causes the
emotional experience and how to block out those thoughts and images that are believed to be the
contributing factor (p. 789). Jarrett, Vittengl, Clark, and Thase (2011) implies that the purpose of
CT is to teach a person to identify and modify relations between thoughts, feelings, and behavior so
that it will help alleviate emotional distress. Hofmann, Asmundson and Beck (2013) indicates that

3. The Beatitudes Research Paper
Frankly, to cover each and every theological nugget found within the Beatitudes would be too great
of a task to fit into the constraints of this paper. That being said I will focus on those that are
extrapolated from the overall text versus those pulled from individuals. Nevertheless, I will make
brief mention of these at the end the sake of thoroughness.
The kingdom of heaven develops into a serious, if not the prominent, theme of the Sermon on the
Mount, and dare I say is probably the most protruding theological motif arising from it. Yet, more
specifically within the Beatitudes, we get a glimpse of a present, but not fulfilled kingdom of
heaven. First, in Matthew 4:17 Jesus proclaims, Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand (italics

Continuing into the Beatitudes, one finds them bookended by the promise of theirs is the

arises from the use of the present tense verb is in Matthew 5:3, 10, and 12, and the future tense
verbs in Matthew 5:4 9. This indicates a present reality of the kingdom of heaven (Matt. 12:28),
while acknowledging the future fulfillment of this kingdom. Craig Blomberg notes, The kingdom
is not currently a geographical entity, but it manifests itself in space and time in the community of
[believers] and who begin to work out God s purposes on earth personally, socially, and
institutionally. Herein, the eschatological kingdom of heaven appears. Inaugurated eschatology
recognizes an already/not yet tension in which the sermon s ethic remains the ideal or goal for all
Christians in every age but which will never be fully realized until the consummation of the
kingdom at Christ s return. This has huge theological repercussions for how one

6. The Horrors Of Historical Events
Through art, the problems we face, the history we experience, and the details of our
surroundings become encapsulated within a larger narrative for others to view and experience.
The creation of art deals a great deal not only with the emotions of an individual, but also the
audience the piece is directed at and the points it desires to make. Anselm Kiefer, a neoclassicist
artist who was born at the tail end of World War II, made large paintings with a variety of
included forms in order to describe the horrors of historical events. His work Burning Rods serves

This moment in history was all about the threat of nuclear technology and its destructive powers,
but Kiefer saw that this technology had a fusing power as well and chose to use this in many of his
pieces during this time. He saw the technology as both a positive advancement within society with
its ability to create change and fuel society, however the destructive capabilities equally influenced
his work. He acknowledged the dangers of nuclear technology while reveling in the hope the same
advancements created, studying the multifaceted narrative of the advancement within his paintings.
The destruction of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, ...considered the largest nuclear accident in
the world, has had an enormous impact on the population and environment of many countries that
has yet to fully be known. This destruction reinforced his interest in nuclear technology, and
became the primary focus of one of his works, Burning Rods . Brennstäbe , the original German
title, which translates to fuel, caused the painting s name to be translated as Fuel Rods , however,
the name was changed to Burning Rods in order to better match the theme of the painting. His
painting explores the influence of Chernobyl along with the power demonstrated within it. This
power has the ability to be constructive as well as harmful in the world depending on how itis used.

Immanuel Kant
Immanuel Kant was a man before his time. His philosophies, as outlined in
Perpetual Peace, paved the way for modern political relations. Unbeknownst to his day and age,
his insights were a revelation. They were seeds planted and left unsewn for 120 years. As a first
and second image theorist, Kant mixes his liberal and realist views to paint a picture of
quot;perpetual peace. quot; His essay outlines the actions that nations should take to achieve this
lofty objective. Through his layout of behavioral and philosophical ideologies, he believes nations

Nations, he says, must not interfere with the constitution of another. He implicitly reaffirms the
principals of the
Treaty of Wesphaylia sovereignty and noninterference. In the final article,
Kant addresses war directly. He states that if nations are at war, then they should refrain from
doing things during the course of war that would cause the other nations to distrust them in future
times of peace. By this, he is referring to the use of assassins and treasonous deeds. This
concludes the first section of his essay. The second section of quot;Perpetual Peace quot; is more
in depth. Kant gives us three articles that define what type of government nations must apply to
reach a perpetual peace. He begins this section by arguing that it is not in man s nature to be at
peace. He declares that the natural state of man is war.
He goes on to say: quot;...for the suspension of hostilities does not provide the security of peace...

constitutions are vital to ensure the peace of nations. He reasons this by arguing that this is the
only type of government that guarantees freedom and equality of the people. Kant goes on to state
that the republican form of government is the most difficult to form and maintain. But, he
reaffirms that a republic is the type of government most apt to achieve peace because it gives its

During the story Eve was persuaded by a serpent to eat the fruit for the tree in which God told
them not to eat from. Eve then persuaded Adam to do the same deed. When they told God their

both ordered to leave the garden, but the punishments He gave Eve put her on a lower pedestal
than her husband. By increasing pregnancy pains bringing forth children and her desires will be

11. The Impact Of Advancements Of Robotic Technology Essay
Abstract The purpose of this paper is to explore the impact of the advancements of robotic
technology in libraries. It provides a literature based background on the general state of robotics
and adds insights related to the library setting. Additionally, it looks into the factors that libraries
need to consider when planning to acquire robots, including finances, staff and technical
knowledge, space and charging facilities. Finally, it provides a quick look at how this technology
will affect both the libraries and communities. I. Introduction The concept of robots has been with
humans for a long time. From the robot knight plan of Leonardo da Vinci to the automatons of
Jacques de Vaucanson, to the robots created by several robotics companies, people have
demonstrated a fascination. The word robot came from the Czech word, robota which means
forced labor . In 1921, writer Karel Capek used it in his play entitled Rossum s Universal Robots
(R.U.R.). The credit for coming up with such term, however, goes to Josef Capek, his brother.
Presently, robot means a machine that performs complex actions, similar to humans or other
animals; also a machine that can perform repetitive tasks, guided by automatic controls. (Shulman
Buckley, 2014). Advances in technology have allowed the world to move forward in the creation of
these machines for various purposes. Libraries, being both learning and cultural hubs of societies,
have unique opportunities to introduce the idea of robots.

12. Pursuit Of Love In Aristophanes s Theory Of Romantic Love
Plato s Symposium gives us a look into how philosophers of the past viewed romantic love. Of all
the speeches given in this work, Aristophanes had one of the most interesting theories. His theory
referred to a myth in which at one point humans were very powerful. Because of these past humans
strength, the god Zeus decided to cut them all in half, forming two beings. Now, we as separated
humans are desperately trying to be reunited with our literal other half. With this myth in mind,
Aristophanes theorizes that loveis that pursuit of wholeness with our significant other. Socrates
takes a different approach when explaining his theory of love. Instead of focusing on love in the
romantic and sexual sense, as the others did, Socrates explains how love is the pursuit of
happiness. With that in mind the question is asked what, to humanity, would true happiness be
perceived as? Socrates answer: Immortality. Since immortality is unrealistic, humans must resort
to immortalizing themselves by means of creation. Whether that be by leaving a piece of
themselves behind in the form of children or a work of art, such as a book or painting. It is that
drive for eternal happiness that Socrates believes love to be. While Socrates speech mostly
avoided romantic love, Aristophanes theory primarily focused on it. From Aristophanes viewpoint,
romantic love is what one would feel toward the person who is their other half . In today s society,
many people believe that romantic love can be

At the start of World War One, aircraft were very basic and crude. By the time World War One
had ended, aircraft had become far more sophisticated and had differentiated into fighters, bombers
and long range bombers. The development of aircraft was stimulated by the war s requirements, as
was the way aircraft were actually used. At the start of the war in August 1914, British airmen were
part of the British Armyand commissioned officers had army ranks. By the end of the war in
November 1918, the Royal Flying Corpsno longer existed and was absorbed into the newly created

If by chance German and Allied airmen came across one another, aerial combat was crude but
deadly. Pilots flew in cramped cockpits so the carrying of parachutes was impossible even if it
had been allowed. In fact, senior army commanders forbade the carrying of parachutes in case
they diluted the fighting spirits of pilots. Unable to carry a parachute and fearing death by fire, the
British ace Mick Mannock carried a pistol, which he claimed he would use on himself if his
aircraft ever caught fire.
As World War One progressed, the military believed that aircraft had a far greater value than just
aerial photography though this aspect of their use became far more sophisticated as the
interpretation of aerial photographs improved. Two entirely different forms of aircraft developed
the fighter and the bomber. By November 1918, there was no comparison between the aircraft that
finished the war and the aircraft that had been at the start. In just four years the changes brought on

16. A Room of One s Own Essay
FOUR
In Chapters Four and Five of A Room of One s Own,, the focus on Women Fiction shifts to a
consideration of women writers, both actual writers and ultimately one of the author s own creation.
The special interest here is one raised earlier in the work: the effect of tradition on women s writing.
Woolf believes that women are different from men both in their social history as well as inherently,
and that each of these differences has had important effects on the development of women s writing.
Women writers, this is to say, have been treated differently from men because they were women;
and this has affected how they developed.
Furthermore, Woolf maintains, women writers are different from men writers because they are

on equal terms with men.
For women, the narrator contends, here begins the freedom of the mind, the possibility that in the
course of time one will be able to write whatever one likes. With Mrs. Behn, writing by women
cased to be a sign of folly and became an activity of practical importance. Money dignifies what is
frivolous if unpaid for she observes, and Mrs. Behn s success in the Seventeenth Century led to very
many women earning money through writing in the Eighteenth Century.
These women became the necessary forerunners of the successful women writers of the early 19th
Century: Jane Austen, the Brontes, and George Eliot.
With the 19th Century writers, one can begin to consider women s writing in a more expanded
manner as a kind of writing that has its own nature based on what it is to be a woman.
First, the narrator wonders why the early 19th century writers were all novelists despite their
apparent differences in temperament. And one answer that she gives focuses on women s common
social role.
Functioning at the heart of the family, she observes, women s training inevitably includes the
observation of character and the analysis of emotion. These are faculties women acquire
unconsciously in the course of daily activities and they are more easily put to use in a novel than
elsewhere in fiction.
Domesticity, thus, was not always a disadvantage for women.
However, she goes on to consider, to the extent that women s

17. Illness And Spectral Evidence In The Salem Witch Trials
During the 17th century and a time when there was a strong belief in the devil (Sutter, 2003) a very
well known incident took place, The Salem Witch Trials. What started out as innocent meetings in
the kitchen of the town minister, Samuel Parris, with the slave from the Caribbean and some of the
towns young girls, one of which was his young daughter and another his niece, turned into the
accusations of witchcraftby means of an unknown illness and spectral evidence. The town of
Salem Massachusetts would forever be changed in 1692 where one hundred forty people were
accused of witchcraft, 19 hanged and one man pressed to death.
Spectral Evidence, what is it
Spectral evidence was used alongside the people exhibiting odd behavior of Salem to determine
they were bewitched , as the towns doctor had diagnosed (Sutter, 2003) But what is spectral
evidence? Spectral evidence can be defined as testimony given that an accused person s spirit or
spectral shape appeared to the witness in a dream at the time the accused person s physical body
was at another location (Sutter, 2003, para.7) This type of evidence was allowed during the trials
because all a person had to say that they saw the spirit of the accused and they would be put on
trial and most likely convicted (Lewis, 2017)
The Salem Witch Trials
The Salem Witch Trials took place beginning in the winter of 1692 and ended that same year.

out of the complacency of her own existence; into a chaotic system of intrigue that reaches far
beyond her normal scope of understanding. In the same turn, like Oedipa the reader s role is also
based on interpreting numerous symbols and metaphorical clues as a means of stumbling upon a
legible conclusion that will stop the madness. Each of them arriving at a different conclusion or
none at all solely depended upon how far the use of our perceptions will allow us to go.

The choice of the location was guided by the fact that Uganda is among the low income countries
with 39% of young children compromised mental development (Graham MacGregor e tal, 2007).
The district had experienced civil conflicts for many years. Conflicts had decreased and families
had started to return to their homes. The study was an affirmation of the responsive parenting
approaches that uphold warm accepting behaviors, response to children needs signal and
significance of child development. The implementation strategy was integrated randomized cluster
model with Individual home visits, clinic visits and community based group sessions. This was
guided by a structured curriculum for training parents, Demonstrations with materials, opportunities
to practice new skills with relevant feedback and problem solving discussion with other parents.
The main sampling technique use was simple random sampling. The basic units of the cluster
sampling was the parish (the sub district) in which it 85% of the population is suggested to have
lived. The structure of a parish constitutes two communities which are build up of three to seven
villages bordering each other with one elected leader. Screening of twelve parishes was done and

22. Restorative Justice And The Justice Centres
Restorative Justice(RJ) is a process in by which it takes an alternative form from the traditional
CJS and aims to prompt resolution with offender, victims and the wider community in a safe
setting. RJ looks at crime in terms of violation against the community and individual rather than a
violation against the law (Gabbay, 2005). As with the traditional CJS, the voices of the victims and
offenders are very minimal and not adequately addressed to a large extent; restorative justicecentres
its main attention on these parties. Since the adoption of RJ practices, there have been different
types of RJ created by various different countries that have also resorted to this practice, such as
Family Group Conferencing (NZ and Australia) and Sentencing Circles (Canada) and victim
offender mediation. Since, one of the main stakeholders of these conferences are victims, it is vital
that their needs and wants are being heard and met and victim satisfaction is also one of the key
restorative values in these conferences, thus it is important know whether their needs are being
adequately met. This essay will critically discuss the principle of restorative justice, how restorative
justice effectively addresses the concerns of victims using examples illustrated from Canada and
New Zealand and the limitations of RJ in certain crimecases in addressing victim concerns. . The
concerns will be based on the different proponents of RJ and the overall satisfaction that arises for
victims out

We have all dreamed of having that perfect something; that thing we expected would be there

we have all had expectations of having the perfect thing. Unfortunately, not all our dreams have

dreamt about does not exist. This disappointment of realizing that perfect something is not what
we had hoped for can be found in Gerald Manley Hopkins Spring and Fall . Spring and Fall is

the speaker asking the young girl, Margaret, are you grieving over Goldengrove unleaving? (S F,

26. The Three Basic Effects Of Growing Up In Poverty
Poverty is the state of being extremely poor. It is also a multifaceted concept, which may include
social, economic, and political elements. According to the UNICEF, 22,000 children die every day
due to poverty. While there are other factors involved, these three basic effects of growing up in
Poverty include Poor health, a high risk for teen pregnancy, and the lack of education.
Unemployment was the leading cause of the Povertyin the United States in 1999 and 2005. Firstly,
poor health is one of the reasons why growing up in poverty can have a huge effect on people.
For example, children living in low economic families may not have access to adequate medical
coverage. Furthermore, when a child grows up in poverty, the child may be underdeveloped.
Unfortunately, the effects of having poor health can carry through adulthood, as childhood
illnesses may lead to chronic health issues throughout the lifespan. It s hard for a person to live
in poverty and live a good healthy life. In return, poor health traps communities in poverty
because they are not able to get the resources that they may need to fend for themselves. Citizens
of any origin or social background are at risk of dying with curable diseases if they are living in
Poverty because they can not afford it. Worrying about maintaining good health is irrelevant if the
family cannot afford it. The burden of paying for doctor visits is devastating to families. It can

28. Analysis of the Poem Crossings, by Judith Ortiz Cofer
The theme of poem Crossings, by Judith Ortiz Cofer is evaluating and reacting upon the tough
decisions that come up in life. The cracks represent the flaws you can find and the inevitable
accidents that will occur. But each day more and more fissures / crisscross your path, and like
the lines/ on your palms, they mean something. (6 8) These lines show that each days more
incidents and troubles, the fissures , will come up in your life, the bad things will happen in
your life time, crisscross your path, and like the lines on your palms, they mean something,
however, every time you experience a bad accident or disaster, which it seems at the time, you
will learn something. It also seems like fate is a big theme in this piece and the human reaction
to fate s doings. On lines 8 and 9, on your palms, they mean something/ you cannot decipher,
shows fate s working in manufacturing these cracks. What they incidents mean, or what you can
learn from them however, is still a mystery because it is brought on by fate, such as the example
of lines on your palms, and how some people believe they are a representation of one s future.
The lines Finally you must choose between / standing still in the one solid spot / you have found,
or you keep moving / and take the risk: / Break your mother s back. (10 14) show the choices
humans have to make in relation to the events brought on like fate. This poem describes that like in

30. Response To The Allegory Of The Cave
Allegory of the Cave Review Questions
An allegory is a story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically
a moral or political one.
Plato is said to have placed his mentor, Socrates, in his place in the story. Therefore, Plato is
having a discussion wit one of his fellows known as Glaucon.
Plato describes the prison as a dark cave. In the cave are people chained in front of a walkway
facing the back wall of the cave. Behind the walkway, a large ball of fire casts shadows onto the
back wall of the cave. Plato is telling this story to compare this fable to the reality of ignorant
people being revealed to the truth.

After being in the dark for so long, it was difficult to adjust. Once his eyes did adjust, the prisoner
could see that the objects were much more than what they shadows had portrayed. The prisoner is

for the other prisoners who are still in the cave. He realizes that they will not experience what he
has in this new world.

what he is saying. This allows for Plato to be seen as an influential and intelligent figure. At the end
of the story, Glaucon asks small questions, not to contradict his mentor, but to enhance the reader s

European Union law are traditionally seen as fundamentally opposite in nature. The rights of states

Allowing national law to take precedence over community law would result in a fractious legal
structure of which neither states nor citizens could rely on. The concept of supremacy was at the

Constitution and several provisions of the EC treaty. The ECJ in deciding the case stated that: the
precedence of community law is confirmed by article 189 (now 288) of the treaty, whereby a
regulation shall be binding and directly applicable on all member states. This provision which is
subject to no reservation would be quite meaningless if states could unilaterally nullify its effects by
means of a legislative measure which could prevail over community law The ECJ went further to

If you think you can do a thing or think you can t do a thing, you re right . Henry Ford. There are
three traits to have that in my opinion are the most important in achieving your own personal
goals. The first is perseverance, if you persevere through the bad, good will come. The second is
determination, if you are determined to do something, it will get done eventually, even if it takes
longer than planned. The third is stubbornness, being stubborn will get you far in life if you re

Carnegie visited the Bessemer steel plants in England for the first time, introducing him to steel
and how it was processed and made. In 1875, he opened his first steal plant, Edgar Thomson
Works, in Braddock, PA. In 1883, he bought the Homestead Works steel mill to start his steel
company.in 1889; he published his first book called The Gospel of Wealth . In 1899, he formed
Carnegie Steel from several smaller steel companies which would later form a steel empire and
monopoly. In 1901, Carnegie sold his company to J.P. Morgan, becoming the richest man in the
world ( Andrew ). He realized wooden bridges then used on railways would not do for the future.
Iron bridges must soon replace them, so he organized a company in Pittsburgh to make them
(Gillam 53).Andrew Carnegie gained a lot of success in his lifetime. He was successful because
he was determined to make his company one of, if not the best steel companies in the world. Not
only was he determined to make his business run, but he was also determined to make the world a
better place by doing a lot of charity work. Even though determination is very important,
stubbornness is also a great quality to have as well, even if not many people would agree.
Babe Ruth showed much stubbornness in Achieving his American Dream by also persevering
through the bad in his life, and staying determined throughout his journey. By most guesses, Ruth
was the greatest baseball player in the history of the game, and easily the

done begin processing it. The first area of focus would be where the child was, they would look

35. Essay on Important Elements Of A Campaign Strategy
Important Elements of a Campaign Strategy
Campaigning for any type of elected office requires a sharp eye for detail in regard to what
voters are looking for in a candidate. A campaign strategy should be comprehensive in its efforts
to reach as many voters as possible. Yet, without a solid base of ideas from which to expand
upon, the message being conveyed can easily be lost or taken out of context. In order for a
campaign manager to avoid this blunder from occurring and maximize the candidate s chances of
victory, he or she must pay attention to a few basic campaigning elements before attempting to
stretch the campaign to its maximum visibility. First, the campaign manager must identify the

Still, it is vital for a candidate at any level to develop a grasp of the different groups that will
decide his or her fate. As stated earlier, this dimension of the campaign process is primarily dealt
with before the campaign commences. Once completed, the popular definition of the word
campaign takes form.
Conveying a message to the voters in the form of speeches, advertisement, and public appearances
is the primary objective of a political campaign. This lets the public know what any given
candidate can offer them if elected to office. The simplest manner in which to convey whatever
message is to incorporate it into a campaign theme. quot;It is a serious mistake to assume that
voters are paying close attention to your election, or any election quot; (Shea 1996,
148). The fact is that most voters do not go out of their way to make the right voting choice. All
a voter wants is a quick and simple reason to vote for a candidate. If every voter researched the
possible candidates before each election, campaigning would be obsolete. The political campaign
serves as a vehicle to inform voters. The best and most effective way for a candidate to do this is
with a campaign theme. A campaign theme should be general in nature.
It should be an idea that a large group can grab hold of. If the theme selected is too precise, it
portrays the candidate as narrow minded. Simply put, the broader a theme is, the more voters it
attracts (Shea 1996,

36. Ancient Stories Of The Sumerians
The Sumerians Although, we widely attribute the ancient stories of the Sumerians to pure
mythology, they went to great lengths to understand and create a way to record their history,
society structure, and development; just as we do for historical events today. The most accepted
view on what makes a culture civilized or having obtained civilization is a culture which has
attained a degree of complexity, usually characterized by urban life (Guisepi). As far as the
Sumerian culture is concerned, they created our foundation for what we consider today, as the
standards for civilization. Even though human exploration and discoveries continue to uncover
previously unknown chapters of our story here on earth, the extensive amount of archeological
evidence we have for the Sumerians and time frame, allow us to accredit them for over 100 firsts
for the human civilization from their ingenuities, accomplishments, and inventions. Many of which
we can still see in use, in some form, in our modern society today. According to Samuel Kramer, For
those not familiar with this remarkable, resourceful and intelligent people, who not only invented
writing but also established the true mythological foundations of all main religions of the world,
simply put, they taught us almost everything . The Sumerians settled in Mesopotamiaaround 4000
BCE. between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, which is known today, as southern Iraq. Notice the

37. The Transition to Postmodernism Essay
The Transition to Postmodernism
Works Cited Not Included
Postmodernism is a difficult term to define, as it is evident in many different disciplines, such as
art, literature, architecture, technology, and, the precise emerging moment of this movement is also
hard to identify. In order to truly understand `Postmodernism, one must first identify with
`Modernism and it s subsequent decline which led to the appearance of the Post modern ear. It is
often suggested that Postmodernity is simply a continuation or advancement of Modernity. For
example, Bauman, (Crook, Pakulski, Walters, 1992: p.2) claims that `Postmodernism is simply a
replacement of classical Modern capitalist society . However, this assumption has undergone much

The sudden upheaval of Modernism was not wholly shocking, as it did offer some assurance as
to direction this change was taking; modern societies were going to grow and differentiate.
(Crook, Pakulski, Walters, 1992: p.2) This can be seen in Anderson s text, Modernity and
Revolution. In it, he evokes the arguments of Marshall Berman in All That Is Solid Melts Into Air,
in which Berman shone light once again on the relationship between Modernity and revolution.
Modernism is acknowledged as a `body of experience (Anderson, EL875) of which is universally
and globally shared. Berman and Anderson reflect on Modernism in a positive way, underlining
that it can unite all mankind. This movement, according to Anderson, would not only envelope
experiences of adventure and development, but would also, as I mentioned previously, endanger all
that we are familiar with, and thus, in Marx s words, all that is solid melts into air. (Anderson,
EL875; p.317)
Anderson questions the propeller of this whirlpool of change and identifies the initiator as
socioeconomic modernization ; these being social processes such as scientific advances and
urbanization. These new ideas and visions allow each person to change and claim this new age as
their own. Anderson distinguishes the connection between the terms `Modernity, `Modernization;
and `Modernism. He states that `Modernity is the process which links the economics of
`Modernization and the culture of `Modernism. This is the

When things get rough, a leader needs to be there to help a certain individual get through that
problem. I m proud of my talents and personality traits who make me who I am. If I had to pick
one trait that exemplifies Cole Fluta, it would be my ability to be a leader. One of my biggest
passions is baseball. I have always been good and strive to play at the next level. My whole life
has always consisted of baseball, so much to the point that I could not imagine my life without it.
Baseball is such a great game because it teaches you to fail, and how to deal with failure. It is
actually known as the game of failure, considering you fail more times than you succeed. However,
most people that play baseball expect to succeed more times than they

39. Religious Freedom
Should the government decide which religions have freedom to worship? The balancing act of
individual rights and religious liberty has been a contentious affair throughout American history.
Some people believe states must accommodate to all religions, including the rights of business
owners to refuse service based on their values. There are beliefs the government should have no
influence on religions. On the other hand, some believe government should balance religionwith
individual rights. Governments should not be based on religion ,but states should work to protect
all religions and give them equal advantages to succeed.
People should be able to practice what their religion preaches. If the government tells them the have
to go against their values they are further decreasing their freedom to practice what they want. The
government of the United States was created to protect the God given rights of the people, from our
First Amendment right to free speech and religious freedom. (Bob Goodlatte) The public should
have the the choice to follow what their religion preaches, not the government. Our first amendment
explicitly provides everyone religious freedom. Therefore, the government can not choose to only
protect certain religions. Religious freedom is one thing nearly all Americans, left and right,

42. Benefits And Benefits Of Parental Leave
Our society is changing each and every day, new technology advancements, new medical practices,
and new industrial technology advancements, just to name a few. With this being said, shouldn t
the benefits be changing along with this? You have medical leave, maternity leave and in rare
occasions, paternity leave. Why shouldn t parents be able to take off time together to bond with
their newborns or new family members in such a case as adoption? So I took some time to study
about parental leave, this is when I came across some very interesting information. When looking
at the statistics, the benefits really out weigh the disadvantages. Parental leave policies with a
required minimum of twelve weeks paid leave to use at the parents will within the first four years
of the child s life should be offered in United States, like in Sweden, because children and parents
will both benefit from this.
A person will have to make observations of the current parental leave policies in the United
States and in Sweden. I will discuss the benefits and costs of having parental leave policies
which include: government involvement, effects of the temporary workforce, and the
requirements of parental leave. To do justice for this research I have limited my parental leave to
focus on adoptive and biological family members only. I acknowledge other forms of parental
leave, but I will remain focused on adoptive and biological leave. Finally, I will propose possible
solutions to parental

43. Companionship In Frankenstein Research Paper
Frankenstein s intentions for this creature he would be creating displayed a certain characteristic
in his personality that makes readers wonder if he was capable of truly finding happiness in his
life. Isolation and companionship are characteristics that foil each other and could be seen in
characters, events, and other aspects of the book. Mary Shelley incorporated them to create a
certain feeling towards the characters in the book.
The feeling of companionship verses isolation was common throughout the story. The two themes
contrast in the letters that open the story between Walton and Miss Savile. Walton is travelling on
the high seas in search of a new, undiscovered land. He writes to Miss Savile feeling isolated and
set apart from the other sailors on the ship crew. The letters... Show more content on

As the story progresses, he brings himself to a point of self isolation. In his attempt to hide from
the monster he has created, he begins to shut out the people he loves. Realizing his companionship
with Elizabeth, and his father, he begins to open up again. He discovers that the friendship he has
developed with those people is what makes his life worthwhile. I don t think he realized that having
a mate was the companionship that the monster never fully understood because he never obtained it.
Isolation and the feeling of being rejected was the most distinct characteristic in the creature that
Frankenstein created. The Creature longed for the lifestyle of Frankenstein or the family in the
cottage. A life surrounded by people who loved him and wanted to remain by his side. When he
tried to approach the family in the cottage, they were disgusted by his hideous appearance. The
negative reaction of the family caused him to view himself more and more as a monster. The
creature blamed Frankenstein for creating for him a life of suffering. He sought out to find his
creature and ask for one thing: a
