Marijuana In Australia Essay
What is marijuana? Marijuana is a plant that people use for various reasons, whether that is for
medicinal, recreational, social, personal, religious or nutritional uses. Recreational cannabis
(marijuana), is designed to help get people high, the compound that recreational users chase is
Tetrahydrocannabinol or THC. THC is the active ingredient in marijuana, which bonds with
specific receptors in the brain to produce a number of effects. It can have a sedative effect, relax
your inhibitions, increase your appetite, lower your blood pressure and many other factors.
Marijuana can also interfere with your short term memory, lower your reaction time and make
you unsteady and off balance. Even though marijuana has been classed as an illegal drug, there
are some negatives, there are many studies that prove marijuana is less harmful to our bodies
than other legal dangers, such as drinking or smoking. What is medical marijuana? Marijuana
has been used for medicinal purposes for a long time now, its origins date back 5,000 years.
Medical marijuana refers to the use of marijuana to treat a variety of health conditions. Marijuana,
for medical purposes is seeing increasing coverage in the media. Chief Research Officer, Kymron

To gain access to medical marijuana you must contact or arrange an appointment with your
medical specialist. It is established that doctors are not importing amounts of medical marijuana at
a time just to give to their patients in need, they are ordering and importing it on a patient by
patient basis. The process involves many approvals through the states and the Therapeutic Goods
Association. These factors all depend on whether the drug is available from overseas. Research and
reports show that there is a possibility that an industry to produce medical marijuana is arising soon

How the Trickle-Down Theory Works in China Essay
How the trickle down theory works in China
The Trickle down theory, a well known theory in fashion industry, has significant meaning in 19th
to 20th century Europe. The American economist and sociologist, Veblen, published The theory
of the Leisure Class by 1899, in which he discussed the split between the leisure class and the
industrial class in the US critically. He concluded that leisure class treats dress as a sign of their
status and possessions, furthermore, Dress must not only be conspicuously expensive and
inconvenient; it must at the same time be up to date (Veblen 1994), by saying that, he refers to
upper class was tend to create new fashion trend which was the top of the trickle down theory. In
the 20th century, Simmel, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However people have little idea about how fashion trends flow in both ancient and contemporary
Chinese society, which is an essential issue no matter when people want to explore Chinese fashion
history, or promote brands and run their business in China in the future. Actually, in the Han
dynasty (206BC 220AD), the trickle down theory worked in the Chinese Royal Palace. At that
time, it is said that all the maid in waitings in imperial palaces stimulated the Empress Xiaocheng,
Feiyan Zhao (32BC 1BC), wearing fairy retaining skirts (Barbara 2000). And according to Lang
huan ji which was a classic novel written by Shizhen Yi, a scholar in the Yuan dynasty (1206 1368),
in the Tang dynasty (618AD 907AD), young girls loved to manipulate imperial Concubine s and
Princess s makeup and hair styles, which indicated that fashion flows from the upper class, such as
royal family, to general people. But inevitably, the study had its own limitation, sometimes, things
in China influenced by several specific factors, such as traditional Asian culture and social classes,
in addition to that, the situation of contemporary China is more complicated which was because of
ideology, social structures and fashion industry of China are so different from European countries.
This essay will discuss that how the trickle down theory works in China, what hinders the theory s
utilization and what situation these sociological and cultural factors cause.

Temporomandibular Research Paper
Thanks to the temporomandibular joints (TMJ), located on each side of the head, we are able to
chew food, speak, swallow and yawn without really thinking about it. But, according to an
estimate by the National Institute of Dental Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), over 10 million
people in the US have a problem with these joints, and women are more apt to be affected than
men. So, if any of your employees have difficulty opening their mouth or are complaining of jaw
pain, they may be dealing with a temporomandibular jointdisorder.
How the TMJ Works
Not only does the temporomandibular joint move your lower jaw up and down, it also moves it side
to side. These movements are controlled by ligaments and muscles attached to the bone. And a soft
disc, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And because it is difficult to conclusively determine the exact cause of the joint pain, treatment
becomes challenging. This is why experts recommend that doctors and dentists approach TMJ
problems with not only conservative treatments, but with therapies that do not involve surgery or
invade the joint or the tissues around it.
Pain medications and nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NASAIDs) can provide some relief,
and some dentists recommend oral appliances called splints to be worn for a short period of time.
Additionally, there s a lot your employees can do to ease their painful symptoms, like eating soft
foods, applying ice packs and avoiding extreme jaw movements, such as yawning widely, singing
loudly or chewing gum. Many dentists refer their patients with jaw problems to a physical
therapist, who may suggest exercises that can provide relief. Learning stress reducing techniques is
also beneficial when dealing with facial pain.
It s important to let your employees know that most dental plans exclude coverage for TMJ
treatments because they largely have not been proven to be effective. But their medical coverage
will likely cover any necessary physical

Communication And Communication
Conversation is such an important element when forming relationships with others and is needed
when bringing communities together. In order to establish communities, you need people who are
able to create bonds with one another through similar interests, common goals, and anything that
can stir up simple conversations. It sounds easy to talk to people, but most of the time, conversation
is a lot more complex than it sounds. In order to have conversation, we need to put aside our
internal conflicts that we all are guilty of having; such as stereotyping, putting our emotions first,
and not listening to other peoples opinions. Environment, people, topic, and many other
characteristics are crucial in order to have a good conversation. Communities have been bonded
throughout the years by conversation, but how we communicate has changed and continues to
change as time progresses. Communication can be done in multiple ways. You can have a faceto
face dialogue with people, call someone, text, facetime, email; the ways these days are endless.
These types of connections were not around when the adults of this generation were younger, but
the teenagers now are part of an era where technology is major and available when wanting to
speak to people. Some people will say those who overuse cell phones are fleeing from
conversation and can change who we are (Turkle). While you can perhaps have an opinion on today
s society being overly technical, you cannot conclude that

The F 35 Lightning II
Abstract
The F 35 Lightning II is a 5th generation fighter manufactured by Lockheed Martin, Northrop
Grumman, and BAE Systems. Production began in 2006 in Fort Worth Texas and its first flight
was conducted in 2011. Jon Beesley was the first test pilot for the F 35. It has air to air, air to
ground, intelligence, surveillance, and recon abilities. The F 35 is second only to the F 22 Raptor
but is superior in air to ground combat. The engine is a Pratt and Whitney 135 and has a Rolls
Royce Lift System. There are three variants of the F 35: conventional takeoff and landing
(CTOL), a short takeoff/vertical landing (STOVL), and an aircraft carrier version (CV). It has
advanced electrical systems used to track the enemy and share information with other systems. A
high angle of attack is used for better maneuverability in combat and to aid the aircraft in turning
at 9 Gs. The F 35 was designed to be lethal and to give pilots the first shot/first kill advantage.
Introduction to the F 35 The F 35 Lightning II is a 5th Generation fighter, combining advanced
stealth with fighter speed and agility, fully fused sensor information, network enabled operations
and advanced sustainment (f35.com, jsf.mil). The F 35 was created to defeat threat systems on the
ground and in the air (f35.com). Its ability to perform air to air, air to ground, intelligence,
surveillance, and reconnaissance missions makes it one of the best fighters in the world (f35.com).

The Pros And Cons Of Homelessness In America
There are approximately 11,448 people, composed of men, women, and children, who fall in the
homeless category in the state of North Carolina. Of that 11,448, 1,303 are families with small
children. 2,014 of those people live in the city of Charlotte, North Carolina, which makes up 20%
of the total homeless population. 1 out of 5 homeless children live within 8 miles of uptown
Charlotte(urbanministrycenter.org). Although there are many programs and services that are
offered to homeless people, there are all sorts of stipulations that come with these services. Chronic
Homelessnessis one of the biggest issues in this country and as a state, North Carolinais doing all
that it can to put an end to this tragedy. As it relates to programs and services offered to the
homeless, there is Coordinated Assessment (CA), which is a community wide system that connects
those who are homeless, to available shelters or housing in the community. HRC or Homeless
Resource Center provides space and community service that serve meals to the homeless during
evening and weekend hours. Shelter Plus Care, also known as SPC is a federally funded housing
program for the homeless. Housing Stability Funding (HSF) is a collaboration between
Mecklenburg County, the city of Charlotte, and Charlotte Housing Authority to coordinate a
funding process to support permanent housing stability for the homeless. Last but not least, there is

However, these discussions mostly are limited within a bunch of users, who read articles from
Yahoo page, forming an isolated deliberative group, this strengthen the fragmentation and
polarization of the opinions. (Sunstein, 2001, p. 65), to some extend, this also tells why rational
deliberation cannot fully promise the democracy on the Internet. Rasmussen (2008,p.9) also pointed
out that, debate often need to share moral values, but it is hard in an increasingly differentiate
Internet world. Internet users from around the world have different cultural backgrounds and
values, it is difficult to adhere a set of standardized requirements and propose a single solution for
the same problem. In summary , we can find Habermas s deliberative mode does not apply to multi
value society or virtual network space, as it put too much emphasis on communicative rationality
and consensus. Take the view from the actual operation of the network, due to site ownership,
network management system, executive power, the consumer ability to communicate and their use
of habits and many other issues are raised, such as: the vicious competition among interest groups,
online political colonization, hasty and irresponsible online speech, these seems unable to support
the network considered as deliberative public sphere. However, if it is to examine diverse themes,

events that occurred throughout it. Hillenbrand s purpose was to emphasize the inspirational
story of heroic Zamperini as he qualified and participated in the Olympics, as well as describe the

Hammond B-3 Analysis
The Hammond B 3 makes no differentiation between the genres because the instrument can be
heard in just about a little bit of every style. The Allman Brothers who are categorized as
Southern Rock cover the music of Billy Eckstine to the Chicago Delta Blues of Muddy Waters
with Gregg Allman playing a Hammond B 3 on a bunch tracks. In the sound of the Memphis soul
group Booker T. and the MGs, Booker is considered one of the best B 3 players I ve read about
from various Gospel, Soul, and Funk critics. Also, the Hammond B 3 can be heard being played by
Owen Bradley on a few tracks who is known for the Nashville sound. Even Ray Charles has an
album, Jazz+ Soul = Genius, which includes several jazz standards he plays entirely on the B 3.

Evaluation Of The Chicago Maternity Center
If a sweeping pestilence struck down as many women in a community as are taken in childbirth we
would immediately be aroused, claimed Beatrice E. Tucker, Director and Associate Obstetrician of
The Chicago Maternity Center. Beatrice was determined to helped needed women, in a needed
community, in Chicago. (Tucker, Beatrice E., and Harry B. Benaron, 1) The ChicagoMaternity
Center was founded in 1895, by Dr. Joseph DeLee. However, it was led and directed by Dr.
Beatrice Tucker, accompanied by her partner Dr. Harry Benaron. The center was opened from
1932 until 1973. The center provided free obstetrical care for poor women while at the same
time helping doctors train for the latest methods to as well provide safe delivery for these
women (Simpson, 1). The center wasn t such a famous hospital or clinic as the time. It also wasn
t located by means of a medical school, such as the University of Chicago. Instead, the Chicago
Maternity Center was located at 1334 South Newberry Street, centered at Chicago s West Side.
The reason for this was because, when Beatrice Tucker became the Chicago Maternity Center s
leader, the community was trapped as a desperate poor immigrant working class (Simpson, 1).
Therefore, the center had two purposes. The first, was to care for and treat poor women, in childbirth
, right at their homes. Second, was to teach doctors, medical students, and nurses the science and art
of obstetrics(Tucker, Beatrice E., and Harry B. Benaron, 1). Through these

The New York Yankees, It Can Destroy Your Future
The past should be left in the past, otherwise it can destroy your future. These are wonderful
words which we should all strive to live by. But letting go of a regrettable past is difficult for
even the strongest among us. For members of the 1960 New York Yankees, the World Series of
that year is still the most disappointing memory any of them can recall. And while vivid mental
pictures of a bad hop grounder hitting shortstop Tony Kubek in the throat, the Clemente chop,
which landed between two undecided fielders and the unforgettable sight of Yogi, his back to the
camera, watching helplessly as Bill Mazeroski s homerun sails over the left field wall, are all

Many choices that were made have never been justified, leading to questions that have never
been answered. Nevertheless, much of what went wrong in that seven game series for the New
Yorkers can be chalked up to chance. However, in retrospect, it is quite evident that with sound
decision making and fundamental baseball strategy, many of the unfortunate things that took
place could have been avoided. The Yankees should have never been put in a such a position,
their backs to the wall in a seventh game. The team was far too talented for that to have
happened. And it is with the same staunch belief that I place much of the blame at the feet of
manager Casey Stengel, not in a way to attack his character, but to question his astuteness as a
team leader at that point in his career. Of all of the questionable choices he made in the 1960
Fall Classic, it was the use of his pitching staff for which Stengel is still most heavily criticized.
His most questionable moves relate to the pitchers he selected as well as the timing and sequence
in which he used them, the most glaring being his choice of starting pitcher for game one.
Picking the game one starter is one of the most crucial decisions a World Series manager will
make. The first game pitcher will not only set the tone for the remainder of the series, but should
the series reach a seventh game, the number one starter in the rotation will be available to work
games four and seven as well. And while Art Ditmar

Why We Shouldn T Have Classroom Pets
Classroom have been known to have plenty of benefits, but are they really as good as they seem?
Classroom pets are well known since they help kids learn important lessons, but they have also
been known to hurt things in schools. Classroom pets hurt the animals, and support cruel pet trade
and are unhealthy. Clearly, classrooms pets are a very bad idea.
First of all, we shouldn t have classrooms pets is that it hurts the animals lives and their ways of
life. For example, some information from source 3 that supports this is, Many suffer from missed
meals, unsanitary living conditions, and lack of climate control. This means that people in the school
forget about the class pet sometime because they have other important things to do. This could ...

Some evidence from source 1 that supports this is: pets come from come from awful breeding
facilities where they ve been kept in horrific and filthy conditions. This means that people who
do horrible things to animals actually gain from some class pets bought off them. Sometimes a
class that can t care for the pet gives it away to these people. These bad conditions can cause a
pet to catch a disease, which could be carried to the classrooms. These people are bad, but won t
be going out of business to soon if we keep supporting them. More information that supports pets
hurting kids from source 1 is, Bacteria such as salmonella can be spread by the handling of
reptiles and frogs, and rodents such as hamsters can carry transmittable diseases. This shows that
the good intentions of helping kids learn life lessons can not only hurt the animals, but the
people around the animals too. We indirectly hurt kids if we let them near these types of pets.
Not all pets carry diseases, but one that have been brought up by cruel breeders have a greater
chance to have these problems. Nobody wants kids to get disease from their own pets or have
animals get kept so badly, so why risk it just to

Review Of System Properties And Type Of Tasks
Review of System Properties/Type of Tasks
2.3.1 Soft/Hard real time tasks The real time tasks are classified as hard and soft real time tasks.
2.3.2 Periodic/Aperiodic/Sporadic tasks It is activated tasks in real time periodic (release)
regularly fixed rates (periods). The majority of sensory processing is cyclical in nature. For
example, the radar that tracks flights produce data at a constant rate [4, 1.7, and 3]. Is activated
aperiodic tasks in real time is a regular at some unknown rate and perhaps indefinitely. . The
bounded rate is characterized by a minimum inter arrival period; that is, a minimum interval of time
between two successive activations. The time constraint is usually a deadline [4, 1, 7, and 3].
2.3.3 Preemptive/Non preemptive tasks
In some algorithms, real time scheduling, a task that can be preempted if other higher priority task
becomes ready. On the other hand, must be the completion of the task is a preemptive without
interruption once it is started [4.1, 2, 3].
2.3.4 Independent/Dependent tasks Given the real time system, a task that will begin
implementation may require access to information provided by another task of the system.
Therefore, you must begin to perform a task after the completion of the implementation of the other
task. This is the concept of subsidiarity. Tasks that rely shared memory usage or communication

Chinese Culture, Health And Illness
The Chinese culture is built around thousands of years of tradition. Understanding these Chinese
beliefs and social influences may benefit you when attending to someone of this culture.
Values
In Chinese culture, respect towards an authority figure is shown by giving a slight bow and to
avoid making eye contact. If people of the opposite sex make eye contact, it may be considered as a
flirtatious act. It is also inappropriate and rude to address an elder or person of higher status by
their first name. They should be addressed by their designation ( i.e. Mr. Mrs. Miss) unless told
other wise.
Yin Yang
In Chinese culture, health and illness concentrates on the balance between body, mind, and spirit,
expressed as Yin Yang. It symbolizes the idea that for every action, there is an equal and opposite
reaction. There is a belief in part of the Chinese culture, that a physical illness is caused by an
imbalance of Yin Yang.
Beliefs about Blood
Many Chinese tend to be against donating blood because in classical Chinese medicine, blood
is understood as a vital bodily essence. They tend to believe that any loss of blood has the
potential to lead to a long term decline in their health and vitality. There tends to be a fear that
even a small amount of blood loss would affect ones health for a short and long period of time.
This may result in them to take several weeks to rest and consume a special diet.

Analysis Of Jane Austen s Persuasion
Perfection in Austen s Persuasion Jane Austen is know for writing sympathetic but realistically
flawed female characters. Elizabeth Bennet is witty but prideful, Emma Woodhouse is well
meaning but frightfully un observant, and overcoming these flaws is what drives these characters
arcs throughout their respective books. Yet in Austen s novel
, Persuasion, at first, Anne Elliot seems
as if she is the perfect woman. She is a woman of birth, beauty, and mind, (Austen 20), she
manages to be liked by nearly everyone she meets, and she was the only one to keep a calm head
when Louisa fell in Lyme (79). However ideal she may seem though, she is not flawless. Anne
Elliot s greatest fault is that she suffers from a lack of courage and nerve, and... Show more content

Yet besides a simple suggestion that it is the woman s job to look after the children, Anne doesn
t tell Mary that her behavior is egotistical, and actually uses Mary s outburst to avoid seeing
Captain Wentworth by suggesting that she herself will look after the child (41). Anne does not
challenge Mary s poor behavior even when it is blatantly selfish and even compromises with her
in order to further avoid a different type of confrontation. This is not the only time that one of
Anne s family members acts disagreeable in such an obvious fashion. Her father s character is
so shallow that he only cares about looks and rank (4), rarely acts in a way that is not displeasing
or ridiculous to the reader, and has overspent all of his money and is now in debt (8). Austen
even states that Sir. Walter has no affection for Anne, (175) his own daughter. He goes so far as
to make fun of the appearance of a man who served in the navy (15). We as the reader can see that
Sir. Walter has no redeemable qualities, and yet Anne does not stand up to him when he disproves
of her engagement with Wentworth when she is younger (20). Austen does say that, it might have
been possible to withstand her [Anne s] father s ill will, (21) and it is ultimately Lady Russel that
convinces Anne to sever the relationship, but young Anne never tries to defend herself against Sir

Confederate Flag Speech Analysis
Racial tension has been a thorny issue for many Americans ever since the nation was founded.
During the colonial era, white wealthy farmers often employed slaves from Africa, the Caribbean
and other races to work in their farms. As the society progressed, however, the north wanted to
abolish slave trade and give African Americans their rights but the south were against it claiming
that the slaves provided the much needed labor for their farms. This is what led to the civil war
amongst other issues, and even though the country has been united ever since, race is still an issue
and some states in the south fly the confederate flag. Opponents, however, have called for the
removal of the confederate flag claiming that it fuels racial tension. One such opponent is South
CarolinaGovernor Nikki Haley, who made the Confederate Flag Speech in 2015 calling for the
removal of the flag from Capitol grounds. Haley starts building her credibility reputable sources
citing convincing facts, and successful employing the emotional appeal; however, towards the end
of her speech she fails to convince the legislature, who have the power to remove the flag.
Haley begins her speech by introducing what the flag stands for and why it is not a bad idea. She
says that, the flag stands for traditions , for many in South Carolina. These traditions are noble, of
ancestry, heritage, and history. Therefore, it is not about what the flag represents. She then
introduces the events that have made her

Charlie Chaplin Characteristics
Charlie Chaplin produced over 35 keystone comedies in the silent era of film, and numerous

impact on the film industry than any other man of the era. Chaplin s greatness has a root, as most
things do, within his personal history. Due to disadvantaged childhood and his mother and father
who s occupation s involved performing often, Charlie Chaplin had the ability to relate to his

Political Parties During The Civil War
Political parties play an important role on how the government makes decisions. In American
history there are usually two major political parties at one time. These parties can be split up into
two groups of beliefs for a party, Conservative and Liberal. The first form of political parties was
formed during the refining of the constitution from the Articles of Confederation. These two parties
are the Federalists and the anti federalists. The next political partyis the Democratic republicans
who appeared during the later time of the time of the Federalists and Anti Federalists. The final
appearance of different political parties happened during the Antebellum period before the Civil
War. Political parties are a major part of American history because depending on the views and the
party holding congress and the presidency it can affect what changes and how much is done during
that time.
The first major political party is the Federalists party. The Federalist party was one of the first
major political parties. The Federalists party consist of many of the people who supported the

The Carolina Panthers Analysis
After opening at 5.5 points, the Super Bowl line has settled at around 6.0 with the Carolina
Panthers favored over the Denver Broncos. One would assume the Panthers are favored due in
large part to its 15 1 regular season record and the manner with which it eliminated its playoff
opponents Seattle 31 24 and Arizona 49 15. All things considered, it would be prudent to
consider whether or not the Broncos are indeed as much of an underdog as the line indicates.
One one hand, the Panthers are very flashy with its brash young QB in Cam Newton and high
scoring offense. On the other side of the field, the Broncos are led by a strong defense and an
aging QB, Peyton Manning, who is arguably one of the greatest football players in NFL history. To

than held its own, ranking sixth in the league in both scoring defense (193 PPG) and yards
allowed at 322 YPG. With a marginal advantage on defense and a big deficit on offense, the 6
point line seems reasonable. However, the one intangible that can t be factored into the line is
Manning s will to win. A man doesn t retire from the NFL as its leader in passing yards and TDs

involved, but it is not written or spoken. This is a contract assumed to have been drawn. In this

these terms, I would have to determine what a fair interpretation of our implied contract would

Biblical Worldview And Buddhism Worldview
Buddhist do not believe there is a beginning or an end to the world, and life. They deny that the
world was created at any particular given time or date. Buddhists believe in Samsara, meaning
they think the world was created over and over, and will continue to do so until it is time for it to
break away.
Biblical worldview and Buddhism worldview have very little similarities when it comes to the
question of origin. Christians believe in creation, and that God is the creator. They believe humans
are made in Gods image, and that He created the heavens and the earth. Buddhist believe there is no
external concept of a god. When the Buddha was approached by non Buddhist who did not
understand his nature and thought he was the same concept of Jesus, Buddha rejected this concept
entirely. Buddhist believe in a concept of a network meaning that something exists because
something else already existed. Everything is connected, they do not believe there is a need to
jump from existence to non existence (Luis, 4).
Being human to a Buddhist comes from their view of a collection of five aggregates; body,
consciousness, volition, perception, and emotions. They believe that humans are being in a state of
constant and continuous change.
Christians believe God created everything living from the trees to the fishes in the sea. The human
identity is found in knowing their true nature, and accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Mankind was created basically to be stewards, they are

The Crusades Through Arab Eyes, by Amin Maalouf
According to Amin Maalouf, It seems clear that the Arab East still sees the West as a natural enemy.
Against that enemy, any hostile action be it political, military, or based on oil is considered no
more than legitimate vengeance. And there can be no doubt that the schism between these two
worlds dates from the Crusades, deeply felt by the Arabs, even today, as an act of rape (Amin

Maalouf states that he researched for two years learning about the crusades. His information has

Another main secondary source is Amin Maalouf himself. There were many times throughout

Social Classes In America
Social class ranks people on the social ladder of society (Kraus.2014). Social class refers to the
different between groups and individuals who are different from one group to another group or
even within a particular group of people. Every group of people believes in particular ideas such
as age, gender, education, religion, income, family origin that put an individual in different
position in society. Social groups in higher classes always possess a great deal of power that gives
them opportunity to subordinate lower classes social classesinclude assumptions, biases, and
prejudices commonly found in most systems of stratification (Schmidt.2006) in social classes.
Classes in the United States have more to do with one s personal income, educational attainment
and occupational prestige for those of different ages. Although there are many people in the United
States who believe that American society has been divided into three groups of people poor,
middle classand rich, this society is more diverse culturally and economically. While some may
believe that because of such diversity it is impossible to draw a distinctive lines between social
classes in the world, but there are some who think it will be helpful if we conduct major classes to

How Did Great Britain Create Tension Between 1815 And 1914
The 1800s were ruled by the industrial revolution, the innovation of new technology and weaponry,
and parliamentary reforms, which decided the fate of millions. In its height, Great Britain was a
force to the reckoned with, with colonies spread throughout the world and an all powerful navy
none could match, Great Britain was one of the most powerful European powers in the 1800s.
These ten events, in Great Britain, that transpired between 1815 and 1914 contributed to the
horrendous masterpiece that is World War I in 1914, from parliamentary reforms, industrial
advancements, and its fierce protection of trade. On August 16, 1819, sixty thousand people

tragedy began when a police officer arrested a popular speaker, which caused outrage and the crowd

Decision Making Tools For The Future State Of Nature
Decision Making Tools The alarm clock sounds off its fanfare and once again a new day of
making decisions is upon you. The choices you now have are continue to sleep in or wake up
and get ready for the day. Both of these alternatives will determine a future outcome, in this case,
if you choose to sleep in you may end up running behind on your scheduled activities. When you
make the choice to get out of bed you are taking into account what the positive future state of
nature will be if you proactively prepare for the day. The fact that you chose to get out of bed
denotes that you mentally assessed all the possible alternatives and decided getting ready is the
choice that leads to the best possible outcome in the future. You may have contemplated the
choice to stay in bed and considered that the warm embrace of your bed was more important than
making it to work on time. No matter what the decision is we all use logic to choose between
two or more alternatives and, based on the probable future state of nature, make the choice
which best suits our need. In the business world, managers are placed in a position to make
decisions. The request for a decision can come from different areas. A superior may request a
manager to make a decision that impacts the organization in some way. In most cases this type of
decision must be made by the appointed manager and is not eligible for delegation. There may be
some cases when a subordinate may ask the manager to make a decision in order

Experiential Family Therapy
In current practices of psychodynamic family therapy, it leans towards integration and diversity in
recognition of the limitations of any single therapeutic model (Evans, 2012). A wide variety of
family therapies have arose which may be described as psycho dynamic and there is not an
opportunity to address all of them. This review will discuss experiential family therapy.
In the early twentieth century, the foundations of the psychodynamic theory was laid by Sigmund
Freud. Freud focused his attention mainly on individuals and not so much on the family, but he did
recognize that family is important in human development (Evans, 2012). Yet, succeeding
theoreticians plus family counselors have utilized the ideologies of psychoanalysis in the expansion
of family therapy (Evans, 2012). Ludwig Binswanger, a psychologist who disagreed with Freud s
theories of human beings, is said to have brought the concepts of existential and phenomenological
thought into the field of psychology (Mahrer, 1983). With the dissatisfaction of the limitations of
Freud s theory, Binswanger started to search outside the existing areas of psychological theories for
other models to explain the thoughts and behavior of individuals (Mahrer, 1983).
The experiential theory for family therapy was developed by Virginia Satir(Satir, et al, 1991) and
Carl Whitaker (Whitaker and Bumberry, 1988) and can be loosely

The Invention Of The Self Driving Car
Have you ever asked yourself, Are self driving vehicles even possible? Well, the simple answer
is yes. In fact, the self driving car and other self driven forms of transportation, like autopilot,
have already been invented. The exception being that the self driving car is still being tested
before becoming commercially available. It truly is amazing how much has been done in such a
short period of time. Go back 20 years and some of these ideas seemed completely impossible.
Autopilotand the self drivingcar are significant inventions to our world because they make
transportation safer, they make it easier to get around, and provide a newer, simpler solution. Now
before you hear why these inventions are important, I m sure you want to hear how they even work.
However, before you can understand the invention you should know some history about their
inventors! First let s start with autopilot, which was invented by Lawrence Sperry. You should know
that he was a pilot himself. Lawrence Sperry was also the last performer in the Concours de la
SecuritГ© en AГ©roplane (Airplane Safety Competition). Lawrence Sperry was born on
December 21, 1892, in Chicago, IL. He died on December 13, 1923, in the English Channel, after
crashing his plane while flying. Sperry was only raised by one parent, his father, Elmer Ambrose
Sperry. His assistant s name was Emil Cachin, who was French, Sperry did not understand any
French and Cachin didn t understand any English, despite this they hit it

Lithium Ion Batteries And Its Effects
Lithium ion batteries were introduced commercially during the early 1990 s as the desire for
smaller and more lightweight rechargeable batteries grew with the increased demand for the
improvement of portable electronic devices (Yoshino, 2012). Prior to this there were
commercially available rechargeable batteries already on the market, predominately in the form
of lead acid (PbA), Nickel Cadmium (NiC) and Nickel Metal hydride (NiMH) batteries. The
development of the Lithium ion (Li ion) battery began due to the knowledge of lithium s low
redox reaction rate and high energy to weight ratio (Wu, 2015), which, it was believed would make
Li ion batteries a good option for introducing smaller, more energy rich batteries to the growing
market.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through the continuous research and development in the chemistry of Li ion batteries the
components have been extensively studied in an attempt to find the best materials to ensure a
battery with a high energy capacity and safety features. There are a wide range of cathode
materials available for use in a Li ion battery. Those with a good level of stability at high
temperatures, insolubility in the electrolyte and good electrical conductivity (Chakrabarti, 2008)
being the ideal choice for the cathode. In general cathodes consist of lithium metal oxides and these
layered or intercalated oxides containing nickel, cobalt and manganese are those which have been
studied most extensively. Both cobalt and nickel have a high voltage, making these metals excellent
options for the cathode, however, the availability of cobalt is quite limited. Manganese is a low cost
substitution but it has limited cycling behaviour, hence mixtures of these metals are combined to
provide a cathode with a high thermal threshold, good rate capabilities and availability with low
toxicity and low cost (Claus, 2008). Recent studies have highlighted polyoxyanion structures, such
as Lithium Iron Phosphate, as options for the cathode material, providing high electrochemical
performances as well as nontoxicity (Chakrabarti, 2008). As with cathode materials, there are many
options for the material of the anode, with each providing different advantages. The Anode requires

Citizen Kane Research Paper. When Discussing The Greatest
Citizen Kane Research Paper When discussing the greatest films of all time, Citizen Kane,
directed by Orson Welles, usually comes up. It s influence in American cinema can still be felt
today, but at the time the film was not released without controversy. The main character in the
movie, Charles Foster Kane, is undeniably based of the real life figure of William Randolph Hearst,
a famous American newspaper publisher. Hearst was very aware of this fact and tried to hinder
the success of Welles picture by denying it any sort of press in his newspapers. Despite the smear
campaign Kane s influence lives on through Welles revolutionary filmic techniques and its presence
in pop culture.
At the beginning of production for Citizen Kane ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mayer helped Hearst by offering to buy the print of the film only to destroy it. Other Hearst
defenders intimidated film curators into not showing the movie. With the attacks were coming left
and right, Arnold Weissberger, the manager of Orson Welles
, sent this memo to him: This is not a
tempest in a teapot, it will not calm down, the forces opposed to us are constantly at work.
Members of The Hearst organization seemed to have it constantly out for Welles, even if direct
orders weren t given from Hearst himself. They repeatedly try to align Welles as a communist,
trying to get him on the Hollywood communist blacklist. The craziest scheme set forward by one
of Hearst s lackeys, was a plot to frame him as a pedophile. Welles was on a post film lecture tour
when a police officer stops him before entering his hotel room. The officer said that a
photographer had planted a fourteen year old girl in his closet, waiting for Welles to enter so he
could take pictures. Welles decided to stay overnight at the train station to avoid all the controversy.
Hearst s campaign to diminish the film s returns were, at the time, somewhat successful. The film
did get released and was the sixth highest grossing film of that year, the studios had expected more.
It went on to receive nine nominations and one win (best screenplay) from the 1941 Academy
Awards.
Citizen Kane as a film is highly heralded, its fresh techniques went on to influence film everywhere.

The Sliced-Crosswise Only Tuesday World Summary
A.Eternium Cylinders, or stoners as the characters in The Sliced Crosswise Only on Tuesday
World call them, are essentially pods in which people will hibernate until their next day arrives.
Eternium cylinders could be scientifically based on cryonics, in which a person s body will be
frozen and their bodily functions will pause until they are taken out of the chamber. This is
significant in The Sliced Crosswise Only on Tuesday World by Philip Jose Farmer because the
world has become overpopulated and the only way to reduce the stress is to have groups of
people live only one day a week. B.A glittering metallic framework, scarcely larger than a small
clock, and very delicately made. This is an excerpt from H.G. Wells The Time Machine in which
the time traveler is displaying a small replica of his time travel device to his friends. This small
model has the same capabilities as its full size counterpart, as was demonstrated in the novel as the
model launched into the future (or the past). This model is scientifically based in the theory of
time travel and how our perception of time could be altered. This model time machine is significant
to the story because the time traveler uses it in an attempt to convince his friends that he himself is
going to be the first person to travel into the future. C.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Soma is a means of mind control in Aldous Huxley s Brave New World. Soma is a drug given to
the citizens of the World State to make them more euphoric and to better accept their fate as
citizens in this dystopian society. The scientific basis of soma is that it is an opiate that makes the
user feel happy; the user feels happy and is therefore easily manipulated. It could be argued that
soma is basically alcohol; people take it to escape from reality and to feel better about themselves.
Soma is significant to the novel because the government uses soma to control the World State
citizens and take away their individuality, which makes them easier to

A Brief Look at Miley Cyrus
This topic gave me some struggle, I couldn t really think of anyone that wasn t a family member.
Then this morning I was looking up someone who I think is just all the she can be. I don t know
her personally because she is famous, but when I thought about I realized I look up to her for
what she has become and what she was. Over the past few years she has become herself, she let
go of the control people held over her and wanted a change so she made one. I don t want to give
away who they are quite yet, but I will say this, while most people don t agree with who she has
become or the things she s done, I can see she has really become her. You can tell in her smile,
the way she walks with attitude, and even in her songs. The day that she decided to change I
think was the biggest day in her career, she got so much attention because she went from being a
child star to being someone who some people didn t want to associate with. She is growing up
with her fans though, if a normal girl had gone to her hair stylist and said cut it all off no one
would care, but since she famous it s a big deal. She was ready for a change though and she was
ready to find herself. If you don t know whom I m talking about yet, its Miley (Destiny) Hope
Cyrus. Judge me if you want, but when I watched her document from the past few years she s
grown so much. And it inspires me to not conform to who people want me to be. She s finally
letting go, letting her inner self out and being herself. The media

Health Of Achieving Health And Wellness
Achieving health and wellness is a highly individualized, dynamic process that is characterized by
six interrelated dimensions: physical, social, intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and environmental
health. The focus of this paper is my physical health as it relates to wellness.
Furthermore, the objective of focusing on my physical health is to identify current health behaviors
and factors that may be impacting and prohibiting me from achieving optimal physical health.
Using the Transtheoretical Model for Stages of Change1 as a guide, I will identify a specific health
behavior I am seeking to improve, and outline an action plan to achieve and maintain good physical
health.
In assessing my health behaviors, I have identified three specific behaviors that have negatively
impacted my physical health: lack of physical activity, poor nutrition and inadequate sleep. The
factors that I attribute to these current heath behaviors are: a lack of social support and guidance,
the nutritional value of foods consumed (as related to the culture in which I was raised), and time
management.
I attribute my lack of physical activity to an absence of social support and guidance in my life.
For example, my mother suffers with cardiovascular disease (CVD), yet rarely engages in physical
activity. Five years ago, my mother had a heart attack, and underwent an angioplasty2 in order to
receive a stent3. In accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC) (2015), the American

Thoreau Technology
As you see, over the years the world has glowed up. The past may have seemed poor, but because of
them we have better inventions in our society today. (Or that s what some of us think.)They were
the inventors, we experienced their moments. We have the ability to expand the technologies
/inventions by making them better. With a little knowledge and creativity people have expanded
what it is today. The biggest thing that we use now days is technologies. Everywhere you go,
everywhere you ll see, it s most commonly used by many people from all over the world.
Technologies has helped us in variety of ways. About 83% of the whole U.S use technologies.

As so he thinks that we need to be on Nature s time instead of rushing it. Thoreau says, If one
advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has
imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. He is basically saying that
we should slow down by giving ourselves some space to think about our values and where it s
taking us. I do agree with him on this one. My reason is because, now days we do stick our noses
in our cell phones. We get lured into it more and more as we use them. The messaging and the
calling distracts us from the old fashion way. I loved the past when they would speak to each
other face to face 24/7. The messaging took place of the old fashioned hand written letters. If we
focus too much on the New advanced technologies, I do think that we will become distracted on
what the past has brung us. He says, Our inventions are wont to be pretty toys, which distract our
attention from serious things. They are but improved means to an unimproved end, an end which
it was already but too easy to arrive at. I don t think technologies are toys because, they do come
in handy most of the time. One thing they do is distract us. You rarely see kids playing outside
anymore because they re now busy playing video games. Nature is how we started off and we

How Does Diffusion And Osmosis Affect The Rate Of Diffusion
Abstract
Cells and molecules in the environment are constantly moving and changing, for cells to function
properly there is a need for equilibrium to be met. The size of the cell and the solution outside of
the cell affects the rate of diffusion and osmosis in the cell. Cells are constantly trying to reach an
equilibrium with the molecules and substances around it, which is why there are such terms as:
hypertonic, hypotonic and isotonic. The procedures allowed testing of whether or not surface area
or volume increased diffusion and how different substance control diffusion. Cells are constantly
moving to reach equilibrium through diffusion and osmosis.

Narrative Essay About Moving To Canada
As I walked to the parking lot where my mom had arrived to pick me up from school, my sister
ran out of the car, ran towards me and yelled excitedly, We re going to Canada! Having grown up
in Kuwait for my whole life of 15 years, I could hardly believe my sister s words. Going to
Canada! I had only been out of the country twice, each time just to vacation and visit family in
the Philippines where both my parents are from. I had always imagined what life would be like
outside of Kuwait, and now it was finally going to be real. My 15 year old self was devastated
We were leaving the only home I had known for 15 years. It did not take long for my sisters
excitement to die when we realized that we would be leaving our friends and everything we ve
ever known and not returning for a long time. Life in Kuwait for 15 years was comfortable and
we were more than financially stable. Moving to Canada without a job offer in place meant that
we would have to start from the beginning all over again. Goodbyes were hard but my parents
encouraged us to see the joys of moving to a place where we could start over and become
accepted citizens of a country. Arriving in Canada, I experienced the biggest culture shock of my
life. Vancouver, BC was cold, wet, and loud. I had thought adjusting would be relatively easy; I
spoke English with a slight accent but I was very shy that it confused some of the other kids to
think I couldn t speak English. I did not understand the culture, which took a

The Women s Suffrage Movement
The women s suffrage movement, the time when women fought for their rights, began in the year
1848 and continued on all the way through the 1860s. Although women in the new republic had
important roles in the family, the house, and other obligations, they were excluded from most
rights. These rights included political and legal rights. Due to their gender, they have been held
back because they did not have as much opportunities as the men did. The new republic made
alterations in the roles of women by disparaging them in society. During this era, men received a
higher status than women. Because women were forced to follow laws without being allowed to
state their opinions, they tried to resist laws, fight for their freedom and strive to gain equality with
men. This leads to feminism, the belief in political, social, and economic equality between men and
women. It is the feminist efforts that have successfully tried to give rights that men had, to women
who have been denied those rights. Upon the deprivation of those rights, the Seneca Falls
convention and the Declaration of Sentiments helped women gain the privileges and opportunities
to accomplish the task of equality that they have been striving for. Since the discovery of the new
nation, society has made prominent changes in the definition of women s duty. Women, similar to
black slaves, were known as second class citizens and did not have rights because of their gender
and place in society. They were excluded from

Speech On Child Sexual Abuse
The increasing trend of child sexual abuse is one of the most important and significant subject of
discussion in the present time. In simple terms child sexual abuse refers to using, the child for
sexual molestation and sexual stimulation by an adult. This might also include any kind of sexual
activity with the child or any kind of indecent exposure. Child pornography, child rape and child
prostitution are all a part of this.
Symptoms of child sexual abuse can be psychological or physical or both. Psychological can include
a depressed state of mind, mental trauma, amnesia, sleep disorder, irritation and anxiety, mood
swings, moral discouragement, which might even result in poor development and functioning of

sectors of the society can reduce the crime and the impact on the lives of children can be
lessened. Conversations and discussions about the issue with progressively more people instead
of cloaking it with secrecy will be helpful in taking preventive measures. Every single one of us
can make a difference. The wakefulness in the problem of child sexual abuse is greater than ever

The Characteristics Of Bipedalism In Humans
Bipedalism, a locomotion that consist of the two lower limbs to move. This can be found in many
animals, but it is considered more optional than mandatory as a way to transport. Some use it as a
defense mechanism. In humans, it is one of the special characteristics that is used to differentiate
the humanspecies from the rest of the Hominidaefamily. Only humans have mandatory
bipedalism. Other characteristics include massive brain size and the ability to make and use
tools (Lovejoy,1988). It was discussed that because of going from quadrupedal to bipedal it
cause many advancements such as brain development. Bipedalism was the biggest evolutionary
change for the human ancestors. Nobody really knows the origins of bipedalism, but there are
some theories that might explain it. It can be the freeing of hands to use tools or to hold and
carry resources or offspring. It can be change of habitat from woodland to plain or use of defense
mechanism to look beyond the plains for predators at further distance. It can also be energy
efficient and to run longer more easier compare to quadrupedalism. Bipedalism gave many
advantages with the change of human body, mainly the skeletal structure, but is it possible that
some of these changes have tradeoffs? Some scientists believe that certain illnesses, injuries, and
health complication are the results of the change of skeletal structure to become bipedal. There are
disadvantages for bipedalism and it can differ between male and

Correlation Between Police And Crime Rates
Even if perceptions of police are not directly related to crime rates, Roberts also states that
communities that are polarized on a subject, furthering community instability (and disorganization),
will create a disregard for the institution that failed to regulate public opinion (Roberts, 2005). What
this really means is that although public opinion about policemay not directly impact crimerates,
police relations are a hot topic and the extreme divide that has been created between police
supporters and non supports could, in turn, contribute to increased crime as people are fighting to
take the authority away from the institution that centers at their argument. In reality, trying to make
a linear correlation between public opinion and

What do astronomers think the universe was like the instant before the Big Bang? Astronomers
believe the whole universe started with that we re shrunk to a billionth of its normal size into a
place infinitesimally tiny. Then you must pack that minuscule space about an ounce of matter.
Then you are ready to start the universe. To imagine this you need to gather every last particle of
matter between this and the edge of creation and fir it into a spot so close together it really does
not posses any dimensions at all. This concept or idea is known as singularity. Outside of the
singularity there is no other place, because the universe was created from this singularity so before
this singularity there was no universe.
What do astronomers think happened in the universe in the few minutes after the Big Bang? In a
single moment the universe starts expanding exponentially. The singularity assumes dimensions,
space beyond conception. In less than a minute, the universe is so much more than a billion miles
across and still expanding. Now there is 10 billion degrees of heat which is enough to start the
nuclear reactions

What Is The Social Implications Of The Plague
In fall of the year 1347 a fleet of Genoese trading ships docked at Sicilian port in Italy. The
crowds gathered in eager expectation at meeting the newcomers and seeing what goods they
were carrying. They were utterly horrified at what they discovered. Most of the ship s crew were
dead, the rest mostly dying. In terror, the Sicilian authorities ordered the fleet out of its harbor in
hopes of sparing themselves from the same fate. It was a false hope. The Plague spread with a
horrifying rapidity. It raged across the European continent killing unprecedented numbers. In fact, it
is generally agreed that thirty to sixty percent of Europe s population died as a result or a
staggering twenty to twenty five million souls. Just what was it that caused this dreaded horror that

Reaction Paper On Devils Tower
Amie Hadley
Period: 6
Mrs.Howsden
Geology Research Project Devils tower is a geological formation in our nation s first national
park. The tower is a rock formation known as a laccolithic butte. Laccolithic is a term used for
large masses of rocks which were made of magma, typically under ground between rock strata.
Most laccoliths are round and dome shaped, but devils tower has been eroded to the point of
having a flat top and very steep sides. There is also no evidence of volcanic activity around
Devils Tower, but some researchers just believe that it may have eroded away over time. Devils
tower is also known as a stock, the most basic explanation is that it was once under the ground but
is now exposed. Before devils tower was exposed it was surrounded and buried by sedimentary
rocks, because sedimentary rocks and shale are a lot softer than igneous rock they eroded away and
left the tower standing tall. There used to be water covering the land, this sea once covered
most of the western united states long ago. This water played a huge part in eroding away the
sediments and rock that once covered devils tower. The tower itself is also being slowly eroded,
and one day may not even exist. The rock formation was discovered in 1875 on an expedition led
by Colonel Richard Dodge, he spoke to indigenous peoples in the area and might of got a bad
translation. He thought they called it the bad god s tower. So he modified that phrase to Devil s
tower. When president

Recreational cannabis (marijuana), is designed to help get people high, the compound that recreational users chase is Tetrahydrocannabinol or THC. Even though marijuana has been classed as an illegal drug, there are some negatives, there are many studies that prove marijuana is less harmful to our bodies than other legal dangers, such as drinking or smoking. What is medical marijuana? Marijuana has been used for medicinal purposes for a long time now, its origins date back 5,000 years. • 4. How the Trickle-Down Theory Works in China Essay How the trickle down theory works in China The Trickle down theory, a well known theory in fashion industry, has significant meaning in 19th to 20th century Europe. The American economist and sociologist, Veblen, published The theory of the Leisure Class by 1899, in which he discussed the split between the leisure class and the industrial class in the US critically. He concluded that leisure class treats dress as a sign of their status and possessions, furthermore, Dress must not only be conspicuously expensive and inconvenient; it must at the same time be up to date (Veblen 1994), by saying that, he refers to upper class was tend to create new fashion trend which was the top of the trickle down theory. However people have little idea about how fashion trends flow in both ancient and contemporary Chinese society, which is an essential issue no matter when people want to explore Chinese fashion history, or promote brands and run their business in China in the future. Actually, in the Han dynasty (206BC 220AD), the trickle down theory worked in the Chinese Royal Palace. At that time, it is said that all the maid in waitings in imperial palaces stimulated the Empress Xiaocheng, Feiyan Zhao (32BC 1BC), wearing fairy retaining skirts (Barbara 2000). And according to Lang huan ji which was a classic novel written by Shizhen Yi, a scholar in the Yuan dynasty (1206 1368), in the Tang dynasty (618AD 907AD), young girls loved to manipulate imperial Concubine s and Princess s makeup and hair styles, which indicated that fashion flows from the upper class, such as royal family, to general people. Temporomandibular Research Paper Thanks to the temporomandibular joints (TMJ), located on each side of the head, we are able to chew food, speak, swallow and yawn without really thinking about it. But, according to an estimate by the National Institute of Dental Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), over 10 million people in the US have a problem with these joints, and women are more apt to be affected than men. So, if any of your employees have difficulty opening their mouth or are complaining of jaw pain, they may be dealing with a temporomandibular jointdisorder. And because it is difficult to conclusively determine the exact cause of the joint pain, treatment becomes challenging. This is why experts recommend that doctors and dentists approach TMJ problems with not only conservative treatments, but with therapies that do not involve surgery or invade the joint or the tissues around it. Pain medications and nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NASAIDs) can provide some relief, and some dentists recommend oral appliances called splints to be worn for a short period of time. Additionally, there s a lot your employees can do to ease their painful symptoms, like eating soft foods, applying ice packs and avoiding extreme jaw movements, such as yawning widely, singing loudly or chewing gum. Many dentists refer their patients with jaw problems to a physical therapist, who may suggest exercises that can provide relief. Learning stress reducing techniques is also beneficial when dealing with facial pain. It s important to let your employees know that most dental plans exclude coverage for TMJ treatments because they largely have not been proven to be effective. • 6. Communication And Communication Conversation is such an important element when forming relationships with others and is needed when bringing communities together. In order to establish communities, you need people who are able to create bonds with one another through similar interests, common goals, and anything that can stir up simple conversations. It sounds easy to talk to people, but most of the time, conversation is a lot more complex than it sounds. In order to have conversation, we need to put aside our internal conflicts that we all are guilty of having; such as stereotyping, putting our emotions first, and not listening to other peoples opinions. Environment, people, topic, and many other characteristics are crucial in order to have a good conversation. Communities have been bonded throughout the years by conversation, but how we communicate has changed and continues to change as time progresses. Communication can be done in multiple ways. You can have a faceto face dialogue with people, call someone, text, facetime, email; the ways these days are endless. These types of connections were not around when the adults of this generation were younger, but the teenagers now are part of an era where technology is major and available when wanting to speak to people. Some people will say those who overuse cell phones are fleeing from conversation and can change who we are (Turkle). Instead, the Chicago Maternity Center was located at 1334 South Newberry Street, centered at Chicago s West Side. The reason for this was because, when Beatrice Tucker became the Chicago Maternity Center s leader, the community was trapped as a desperate poor immigrant working class (Simpson, 1). Therefore, the center had two purposes. The first, was to care for and treat poor women, in childbirth , right at their homes. But letting go of a regrettable past is difficult for even the strongest among us. For members of the 1960 New York Yankees, the World Series of that year is still the most disappointing memory any of them can recall. And while vivid mental pictures of a bad hop grounder hitting shortstop Tony Kubek in the throat, the Clemente chop, which landed between two undecided fielders and the unforgettable sight of Yogi, his back to the camera, watching helplessly as Bill Mazeroski s homerun sails over the left field wall, are all etched in the mind of everyone who witnessed these mind boggling... Nevertheless, much of what went wrong in that seven game series for the New Yorkers can be chalked up to chance. However, in retrospect, it is quite evident that with sound decision making and fundamental baseball strategy, many of the unfortunate things that took place could have been avoided. The Yankees should have never been put in a such a position, their backs to the wall in a seventh game. The team was far too talented for that to have happened. And it is with the same staunch belief that I place much of the blame at the feet of manager Casey Stengel, not in a way to attack his character, but to question his astuteness as a team leader at that point in his career. Of all of the questionable choices he made in the 1960 Fall Classic, it was the use of his pitching staff for which Stengel is still most heavily criticized. His most questionable moves relate to the pitchers he selected as well as the timing and sequence in which he used them, the most glaring being his choice of starting pitcher for game one. Picking the game one starter is one of the most crucial decisions a World Series manager will make. The first game pitcher will not only set the tone for the remainder of the series, but should the series reach a seventh game, the number one starter in the rotation will be available to work games four and seven as well. Marshall was an intricate part of getting the grapes initial recognition and the impending financial success may not have been possible without his willingness to promote the grapes in his store. Without taking the proper steps to rectify this situation in a peaceful manner, I might experience a backlash depending on Marshall s potential decision to bring this issue before the court of public opinion. Investopedia states: An implied contract is an agreement created by actions of the parties involved, but it is not written or spoken. This is a contract assumed to have been drawn. In this case, there is no written record nor any actual verbal agreement. (Investopedia, 2010) Under these terms, I would have to determine what a fair interpretation of our implied contract would be and to what extent Marshall should be compensated under those terms. I am under no legal obligation to continue to provide goods and services and would instead insist on using a mutually agreed upon mediator to hash out a possible financial settlement to compensate Marshall for his promotion of the product and find out whether or not the new company that would purchase my product would be willing to offer Marshall a set rate with their acquisition as a part of the sale. Marshall s Legal Defense In Marshall s defense I would have to be prepared that he could use Promissory Estoppel as a legal defense should our case be brought before a judge. If we are unwilling to come to an agreement the judge might enact this particular method to award damages to Marshall based of our implied contract in good faith. • 35. Biblical Worldview And Buddhism Worldview Buddhist do not believe there is a beginning or an end to the world, and life. They deny that the world was created at any particular given time or date. Buddhists believe in Samsara, meaning they think the world was created over and over, and will continue to do so until it is time for it to break away. Biblical worldview and Buddhism worldview have very little similarities when it comes to the question of origin. Christians believe in creation, and that God is the creator. They believe humans are made in Gods image, and that He created the heavens and the earth. Buddhist believe there is no external concept of a god. When the Buddha was approached by non Buddhist who did not understand his nature and thought he was the same concept of Jesus, Buddha rejected this concept entirely. Buddhist believe in a concept of a network meaning that something exists because something else already existed. Everything is connected, they do not believe there is a need to jump from existence to non existence (Luis, 4). Being human to a Buddhist comes from their view of a collection of five aggregates; body, consciousness, volition, perception, and emotions. They believe that humans are being in a state of constant and continuous change. Christians believe God created everything living from the trees to the fishes in the sea. Against that enemy, any hostile action be it political, military, or based on oil is considered no more than legitimate vengeance. And there can be no doubt that the schism between these two worlds dates from the Crusades, deeply felt by the Arabs, even today, as an act of rape (Amin Maalouf). When reflecting on The Crusades Through Arab Eyes, this quote always sticks out as the most powerful piece of Maalouf s work. Another main secondary source is Amin Maalouf himself. There were many times throughout reading this adventure when I caught Maalouf sharing his opinion very strongly with the readers. The choices you now have are continue to sleep in or wake up and get ready for the day. Both of these alternatives will determine a future outcome, in this case, if you choose to sleep in you may end up running behind on your scheduled activities. When you make the choice to get out of bed you are taking into account what the positive future state of nature will be if you proactively prepare for the day. The fact that you chose to get out of bed denotes that you mentally assessed all the possible alternatives and decided getting ready is the choice that leads to the best possible outcome in the future. You may have contemplated the choice to stay in bed and considered that the warm embrace of your bed was more important than making it to work on time. No matter what the decision is we all use logic to choose between two or more alternatives and, based on the probable future state of nature, make the choice which best suits our need. In the business world, managers are placed in a position to make decisions. The request for a decision can come from different areas. • 42. Reflection On Experiential Family Therapy Experiential Theory Candida A. Phelps Liberty University Experiential Family Therapy In current practices of psychodynamic family therapy, it leans towards integration and diversity in recognition of the limitations of any single therapeutic model (Evans, 2012). A wide variety of family therapies have arose which may be described as psycho dynamic and there is not an opportunity to address all of them. This review will discuss experiential family therapy. In the early twentieth century, the foundations of the psychodynamic theory was laid by Sigmund Freud. Freud focused his attention mainly on individuals and not so much on the family, but he did recognize that family is important in human development (Evans, 2012). Yet, succeeding theoreticians plus family counselors have utilized the ideologies of psychoanalysis in the expansion of family therapy (Evans, 2012). Ludwig Binswanger, a psychologist who disagreed with Freud s theories of human beings, is said to have brought the concepts of existential and phenomenological thought into the field of psychology (Mahrer, 1983). With the dissatisfaction of the limitations of Freud s theory, Binswanger started to search outside the existing areas of psychological theories for other models to explain the thoughts and behavior of individuals (Mahrer, 1983). Lithium Ion Batteries And Its Effects Lithium ion batteries were introduced commercially during the early 1990 s as the desire for smaller and more lightweight rechargeable batteries grew with the increased demand for the improvement of portable electronic devices (Yoshino, 2012). Prior to this there were commercially available rechargeable batteries already on the market, predominately in the form of lead acid (PbA), Nickel Cadmium (NiC) and Nickel Metal hydride (NiMH) batteries. The development of the Lithium ion (Li ion) battery began due to the knowledge of lithium s low redox reaction rate and high energy to weight ratio (Wu, 2015), which, it was believed would make Li ion batteries a good option for introducing smaller, more energy rich batteries to the growing market.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through the continuous research and development in the chemistry of Li ion batteries the components have been extensively studied in an attempt to find the best materials to ensure a battery with a high energy capacity and safety features. There are a wide range of cathode materials available for use in a Li ion battery. Those with a good level of stability at high temperatures, insolubility in the electrolyte and good electrical conductivity (Chakrabarti, 2008) being the ideal choice for the cathode. In general cathodes consist of lithium metal oxides and these layered or intercalated oxides containing nickel, cobalt and manganese are those which have been studied most extensively. Both cobalt and nickel have a high voltage, making these metals excellent options for the cathode, however, the availability of cobalt is quite limited. Manganese is a low cost substitution but it has limited cycling behaviour, hence mixtures of these metals are combined to provide a cathode with a high thermal threshold, good rate capabilities and availability with low toxicity and low cost (Claus, 2008). Recent studies have highlighted polyoxyanion structures, such as Lithium Iron Phosphate, as options for the cathode material, providing high electrochemical performances as well as nontoxicity (Chakrabarti, 2008). Members of The Hearst organization seemed to have it constantly out for Welles, even if direct orders weren t given from Hearst himself. They repeatedly try to align Welles as a communist, trying to get him on the Hollywood communist blacklist. The craziest scheme set forward by one of Hearst s lackeys, was a plot to frame him as a pedophile. Although women in the new republic had important roles in the family, the house, and other obligations, they were excluded from most rights. These rights included political and legal rights. Due to their gender, they have been held back because they did not have as much opportunities as the men did. The new republic made alterations in the roles of women by disparaging them in society. During this era, men received a higher status than women. Because women were forced to follow laws without being allowed to state their opinions, they tried to resist laws, fight for their freedom and strive to gain equality with men. This leads to feminism, the belief in political, social, and economic equality between men and women. It is the feminist efforts that have successfully tried to give rights that men had, to women who have been denied those rights. Upon the deprivation of those rights, the Seneca Falls convention and the Declaration of Sentiments helped women gain the privileges and opportunities to accomplish the task of equality that they have been striving for. What this really means is that although public opinion about policemay not directly impact crimerates, police relations are a hot topic and the extreme divide that has been created between police supporters and non supports could, in turn, contribute to increased crime as people are fighting to take the authority away from the institution that centers at their argument. In reality, trying to make a linear correlation between public opinion and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Bill Bryson Reading Assignment Essay Bill Bryson Reading Assignment I Due Date: September 13, 2016 Rashmi Acharya Hour 6 What do astronomers think the universe was like the instant before the Big Bang? Astronomers believe the whole universe started with that we re shrunk to a billionth of its normal size into a place infinitesimally tiny. Then you must pack that minuscule space about an ounce of matter. Then you are ready to start the universe. To imagine this you need to gather every last particle of matter between this and the edge of creation and fir it into a spot so close together it really does not posses any dimensions at all. This concept or idea is known as singularity. Outside of the singularity there is no other place, because the universe was created from this singularity so before this singularity there was no universe. What do astronomers think happened in the universe in the few minutes after the Big Bang? In a single moment the universe starts expanding exponentially. The singularity assumes dimensions, space beyond conception. In less than a minute, the universe is so much more than a billion miles across and still expanding. Now there is 10 billion degrees of heat which is enough to start the nuclear reactions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 57. What Is The Social Implications Of The Plague In fall of the year 1347 a fleet of Genoese trading ships docked at Sicilian port in Italy. The crowds gathered in eager expectation at meeting the newcomers and seeing what goods they were carrying. They were utterly horrified at what they discovered. Most of the ship s crew were dead, the rest mostly dying. In terror, the Sicilian authorities ordered the fleet out of its harbor in hopes of sparing themselves from the same fate. It was a false hope. The Plague spread with a horrifying rapidity. It raged across the European continent killing unprecedented numbers. In fact, it is generally agreed that thirty to sixty percent of Europe s population died as a result or a staggering twenty to twenty five million souls. Just what was it that caused this dreaded horror that mercilessly took the lives of so many? Though... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The European continent was rocked to its very core, its people left scrambling for answers, horrified, shocked, grieved, and almost unable to comprehend such mass death and destruction. In fact, some could come to no other conclusion but that the end of the world had come as one dying author so sorrowfully put it. And I, Brother John Clyn of the Friars Minor in Kilkenny, have written in this book the notable events which befell in my time, which I saw myself or have learned from men worthy of belief. So that notable deeds should not perish with time, and be lost from the memory of future generations, I, seeing these many ills, and that the whole world encompassed by evil, waiting among the dead for death to come, have committed to writing what I have truly heard and examined; and so that the writing does not perish with the writer, or the work fail with the workman, I leave parchment for continuing the work, in case anyone should still be alive in the future and any son of Adam can escape this pestilence and continue the work thus ... • 58. Reaction Paper On Devils Tower Amie Hadley Period: 6 Mrs.Howsden Geology Research Project Devils tower is a geological formation in our nation s first national park. The tower is a rock formation known as a laccolithic butte. Laccolithic is a term used for large masses of rocks which were made of magma, typically under ground between rock strata. Most laccoliths are round and dome shaped, but devils tower has been eroded to the point of having a flat top and very steep sides. There is also no evidence of volcanic activity around Devils Tower, but some researchers just believe that it may have eroded away over time. Devils tower is also known as a stock, the most basic explanation is that it was once under the ground but is now exposed. Before devils tower was exposed it was surrounded and buried by sedimentary rocks, because sedimentary rocks and shale are a lot softer than igneous rock they eroded away and left the tower standing tall. There used to be water covering the land, this sea once covered most of the western united states long ago. This water played a huge part in eroding away the sediments and rock that once covered devils tower. The tower itself is also being slowly eroded, and one day may not even exist. The rock formation was discovered in 1875 on an expedition led by Colonel Richard Dodge, he spoke to indigenous peoples in the area and might of got a bad translation. He thought they called it the bad god s tower. So he modified that phrase to Devil s tower. When president ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
