6.4.11 Method for Determining Leachability
 Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP)
Reference: USEPA Method 1311
Apparatus:
1. Agitation apparatus: The agitation apparatus must be capable of rotating the extraction vessel in an
end over end fashion at 30 ±2 rpm.
2. Extraction vessels: Jars or bottles with sufficient capacity to hold the sample and extraction fluid.
Two liter normal capacity bottles are recommended. The vessel type is determined by the analysis of
interest.
3. Filtration devices
4. Filter holders: Any filter holder, which meets all of the following requirements. Capable of
supporting a 0.6 to 0.8 µm glass fiber filter membranes. Has a minimum internal volume of 300 ml
(1.5 L recommended) can hold a filter of minimum size 47 mm in diameter (142 mm filter diameter
recommended). Positive pressure filtration units capable of exerting pressures of 350 KPa or more
which are commonly called Hazardous Waste Filtration Units .
5. NOTE: If the leachate is to be analyzed for metals, the filter must be prewashed with 1 M nitric
acid, rinsed with double distilled water (DDW) and dried before use. Acid washed filters may also be
used for other non volatile extracts.
6. pH meter: Calibrated to within ± 0.05 pH units at 25°C.

An experiment to investigate the effect of changing the concentration of hydrochloric acid on the rate
of reaction with sodium thiosulpahte.
Aim
I am trying to find out how the concentration of hydrochloric acid affects the reaction time with
sodium thiosulpahte.
If a clear solution of sodium thiosulphate is mixed with hydrochloric acid then a reaction will occur
where a creamy yellow precipitate of sulphur is produced.

They all increase the number of collisions.
Fair testing
* To make this a fair test I will only change one variable.
* Each experiment will be done three times so an average can be found.
* The same equipment will be used in each experiment.
Method
· Measure out 50ml of thiosulphate and add it to the conical flask.
· Draw a cross on a piece of paper and place the conical flask on it.
· Measure out 10ml of acid and add it to the conical flask and start timing.
· Look into the top of the conical flask and when the cross can no longer be seen stop the stop watch.
· Do the experiment again but measure out 8ml of hydrochloric acid. Then add 2ml of distilled water.
The ratio for each experiment will therefore be 10:0, 8:2, 6:4, 4:6 and of acid to water
Conclusion
I conclude that whilst carrying out this investigation I found out that the more acid was in the solution
the cross on the paper disappeared quicker. This shows that the more concentrated the acid is then the
quicker the reaction time. My research about the collision theory was correct and the more
concentrated the solution is then the number of collisions will be increased. If the numbers of
collisions are increased then the reaction time will also be increased.
My prediction that the less concentrated the acid is then the longer it will take for the sodium
thiosulphate to react with the acid is correct because experiment number 5

The Pros And Cons Of Stay-At-Home Mom
Stay at home mothers are discriminated against in many ways. Stay at home mothers might be
considered lazy for choosing to stay at home and take care of their child instead of going back to work
immediately. Even if a mother is planning on going back to work after a while, she still isn t treated
the same as women without children. In Confessions of a Stay at Home Mom, Ashley Nelson argues
that taking time off of work after a woman has a child can be bad, women with children may earn less
pay, and mothers are less likely to be promoted. I agree with Nelson that taking time off work can be
bad, mothers may earn less pay, and mothers are less likely to be promoted because taking off of work
can cause women to get out of the routine of working full time and we may not be able to do our best
work as soon as we return.
Ashley Nelson s article, Confessions of a Stay at Home Mom, is about mothers and what they should
do about work when they have a child. Nelson argues that taking time off of work after a woman has a
child can cause her to not be offered the same jobs or benefits as a non mother or male. Labor
statistics show that while full time working women without children earn 7 percent less than their
male counterparts, women with children earn 23 percent less (Nelson 413). She also states that
mothers are less likely to be promoted than women without children. The sense is that employers,
consciously or not, demote mothers, assuming they cannot live up to the hours and demands of the
work place (Nelson 414). Nelson also argues that women should keep some kind of a job after having
children because they will be much more likely to get a new job or get their old job back with more
benefits, better hours, and better pay.
Nelson argues that taking a lot of time off of work after having a child can be bad. Nelson states that
even minor career breaks have dire economic consequences (413). This means that by leaving a
career, even for just a couple of years, can have bad consequences. I believe that Nelson is correct
because when women leave their job, they might have a hard time getting it back. Even though a
mother is leaving her job to take care of her child, she is still quitting her job. When someone

Analysis Of Jane Campion s The Piano
Applying a postcolonial perspective, write an analysis of the ideas and values in Jane Campion s The
Piano
Looking at Jane Campion s The Piano through a post colonial perspective ideas of isolation, civilised
vs the uncivilised, and authority and the power as a result of European settlement in New Zealand can
be examined.
Jane Campion s The Piano explores cultural differences between the native Maori people of New
Zealand and the newly arrived Europeans. The first aspect that must be taken into account in this
analysis is the physical setting. The film is set within the lush bush of New Zealand just off the coast
in the 1850s. The setting itself is intriguing, and very intense in its complexity and density, but yet
provides an air of isolation and confinement for the newly arrived Ada. Upon arrival to the beach their
shelter for the night, is set against the backdrop of a hostile and empty coast. Ada s surroundings act as
a canvas to display the displacement of European settlement.
The Maoris often complement the natural environment, working with it in their movements, rather
than against as do Ada and Flora. They are shown struggling through the mud and the new terrain in
situations where the Maoris fit in seamlessly with their surroundings. Their property is also
immediately surrounded my tree trunks, rather than the rich greenery seen elsewhere in the film,
symbolic of the Europeans destructions as a result of colonisation.
Campion utilises costuming to display the authority and power of the European culture, whilst also
criticising its limitations. The natural setting is often juxtaposed with the Europeans dark, and
structured clothing, which is ultimately entirely impractical. Ada wears her exuberant, yet dull
Victorian clothing, whilst Stewarts clothing is often almost too small, confining and restricting. Her
costuming immediately draws the intrigue of the locals, as does her fair skin, isolating her further.
This use of costuming highlights how out of place the Europeans are, but also their ignorance of the
realities of their environment. This is compared with the Maori s more natural, relaxed clothing that
blends with the naturalistic environment. However, there are often aspects of European

Moral Education Essay
Moral education can be described as the guidance and teaching of good behaviour and values. It is
taught to young children in schools, providing them with a sense of politeness and lawfulness. The
critical objective of moral education is to instruct these human values in the students. When defining
moral education we are often inclined to two outwardly opposed perspectives: traditional character
education which is focused on the development of specific kinds of virtuous traits and habits
(Narvaez, 2006) and rational moral education which focuses on moral judgment and reasoning
regarding justice and fairness.
Moral decision making differs in men and women as outlined in the findings of theorists Kohlberg and
Gilligan. Kohlberg had shown that the average female attained a moral judgment rating of stage three
(good boy nice girl), while adolescent males ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

participate in a Christian worship or should Jaheem stay true to his religious beliefs and be branded as
ungodly? This situation can be best addressed by eliminating the practice of religion from public

not to be forced to worship in the religion of the institution. This dilemma can easily be resolved if

Narrative Directive In The Poisonwood Bible
The Poisonwood Bible Journal #1
The novel The Poisonwood Bible opens with a narrative directive and it has an effect on the reader(s).
The narrative directive is to put one in the setting to make you feel like you are actually there because
in the opening paragraph it says, I want you to be its conscience, the eyes in the trees, which is there to
give background of Africa, since this is where the Price family is heading off to for missionary work
(Kingsolver 5). The opening scene suggest that the future of Africa is going to be the thing unfolding
as well as what happens when people go to Africa (the difference between the United States and
Africa) in the coming chapters. Orleanna used the word you in her narrative and she was most likely
referring to God or whatever she may be worshipping because of the way it is used. In the text,
Orleanna says, Your bright eyes bear down on me without cease, on behalf of the quick and the dead,
which proves it could be God because she says it bears down on her, so it could explain it because
heaven and gods are above us according to mythology/bible (Kingsolver 7). The disaster she alludes is
when her and her family went to Africa, for missionary work. I think the reason that Orleanna talks in
the past while her daughters Leah, Adah, Ruth May, and Rachel talk in the present, is to give two
different perspectives. They (the Price family) are in Africa for a long time, so Orleanna could be
talking about something she has already experienced or seen, while the other girls are talking about
day to day stuff, not looking back on the trip but living in the moment.
There are many different narrators throughout the book and Kingsolver found a way to characterize
each sister individually. Rachel s chapters always have her privileged self complaining and comparing
her life in Georgia to her life in Africa now. She continually states wanting to go back home. Adah, on
the other hand, explains her current situation but adds her disbelief of God and or her speculations,
which adds an interesting approach because she is the daughter of a priest and of a family who is
doing missionary work, so you would think she would be full of christianity. Adah, is a thinker and her

The Similarities And Differences Of Basketball Vs....
There are many similarities and differences between pro basketball and college. There are many
different rules between pro and college level. The NBA consist of 32 professional teams, but the
college level has 347 division 1 schools that develop players and make them grow into being a
professional athlete. When coming out of high school, you get to choose what school you want to play
for. Most athletes pick the biggest school with the biggest fan base. That way these players will be
noticed and scouted before going pro. The professional level is completely different because you enter
the draft. You don t get to choose where or who you play for after the draft. There are so many
differences and similarities between the two. A difference between the two are that in the NBA you
can foul six times before fouling out but in the NCAA you get only 5. Fouling out results in you sitting
on the bench for the rest of the game without playing but just watching. In the NBA after five fouls the
opposing team is put in the bonus, but in the NCAA it takes seven fouls to be put into the bonus. The
bonus for the NBA is when you get fouled you get two free throws. In the NCAA you get a term
called One and one . It s where you shoot one free throw and make it you get a chance at another, but
if you miss the first shot you don t get another shot. The tenth foul in college basketball results in the
double bonus where you will be allowed to shoot two free throws in a row even if you miss one.

Final Reflection For Research Paper
Final Reflection Sandy Wisneski
Technology is often used for the wrong reasons in the classroom. Teachers find a new idea and jump
on the technology band wagon without considering if this is the best use for the digital tool. When
planning lessons using technology, consideration needs to made as to how the tool will enhance the
lesson or will it just be an added feature.
I love the challenge of new technology and am always on the lookout for ways to engage students in
my classroom. I do have a strong background with technology but found new tidbits to add to my
repertoire when using the Google Apps. Since most of my information was gained through my own
investigation, it was helpful to dig deeper into what Google offers. When integrating any new
applications into the classroom, digital citizenship is an essential building block. Students need to
respect technology and connecting with others the same way we do face to face. This is critical when
working collaboratively in a Google doc or slideshow. Netiquette needs to be modeled and taught. I
appreciated lessons on copyright included in this course. We spend several lessons going over what
copyright means, how to find fair use images, and how to cite their sources. ... Show more content on

The Contribution Of Cockroaches
The contribution of cockroaches in the ecosystem.
What will happen if there were no cockroaches?
Cockroaches are one of the ancient species, it begins to be found from the Carboniferous period, about
320 million years ago [1]. It belongs to the group of Blattodea, undering the category of Inseacta.
Most of us has seen cockroaches, we often see them hiding inside the dark and humid place in our
home, including the kitchen, toilet or the gutter. Every time we see them, we would never be nice to
them, killing them as fast as we could, we may ever hope they could become extinct. However, have
we thought about the their benefits and contribution to the world? In this essay, the importance of

Absence Of His Father In Booker T Washington
The name Booker T. Washington is often closely associated with prestige and great success as a leader.
However, before he was the man we know of today he came from a life of struggle and constant strife.
Before he became an image of freedom and intelligence he had to endure not only conflicts externally
for the color of his skin, but internally as well as he struggled to live his life accordingly without the
proper guidance of a father. The autobiography Up from Slavery gives us a new perspective as the
narrative tells the story of his life from slavery to becoming one of the founders of Tuskegee Institute.
Yet, a man with his reputation it would be virtually impossible to reach his stature without having
some sort of guidance from mentors. Of course, throughout the narrative Washington acknowledges
many people in his life who he considered to be a father figure , but due to the fact he was the son of a
slave cook and a white man he never knew, there was never a true biological father son relationship in
his life. This begs the question if the lack and absence of his own father shaped his own self
perception, his relationship with others, as well as his leadership style? By analyzing excerpts and
quotes within the literature piece one could conclude that the absence of his father is something
Booker T. Washington has come to terms with thus not placing heavy burden on his life style and
choices.
For example, a specific quote in the text shows how Washington does not put

Departures Storm Jameson
In Departures, Storm Jameson depicts her isolation as a child and its continuation into adulthood.
Behind the cold barriers that Jameson builds around herself in both her child and adult life, an
unending cycle of fear continues within her. This cycle is reflected in the narrative structure of the
anecdote. Jameson s authorial choices to employ Labov s elements in a disjointed fashion and have a
brief complicating action reinforce her social detachment both as a child and an adult. Along with the
disjointed narrative elements, an omitted coda and resolution convey that the detachment continues
throughout her life in a cycle of fear and isolation. With the intent of creating a structural detachment
that reflects her own emotional detachment, Jameson, as author, puts together an orientation and
complicating action that don t appear to go together. On a September train ride, distant memories and
thoughts blur past the grown Jameson s eyes, such as the journeys made feverish by unmanageable
longings and ambitions, night journeys in wartime (15) and continue to make their way to the
forefront of her mind with a picture of the darkened corridor crammed with young men in clumsy
khaki, smoking, falling asleep, [and] journeys with a heavy baby in one arm (Jameson 15). Before
Jameson as adult can make her way back to her memory as a child, she must travel through many
other memories of departures and journeys. This roundabout way in which Jameson brings her reader
into her memories structurally reflects the detached feelings she has for herself as a child. It suggests a
physiological separation between Jameson and herself because she cannot easily think about her past.
These detached feelings are enforced textually when she uses the third person to refer to herself as the
child (15) and to those presumably close to her like her mother, whom she calls the captain s wife
(16). By creating this structural and textual detachment, Jameson emphasizes her emotional isolation
from herself as a child. Before speaking about herself as a child, she must search through her
memories like a knot of adders uncoiling themselves, (15) which suggests that it is painful for
Jameson to reach back to her childhood

What Does Dido Mean In The Aeneid
The lengths people will go to in order to keep the person they love can be extreme. They may poke a
hole in a condom so their partner feels obligated to stay with a baby on the way or make them feel
guilty enough to stay. Virgil explores this idea in the Aeneid using Queen Dido. When Aeneas is
preparing to leave to fulfill his legacy, the Queen tries using anger, their marriage, manipulation, and
guilt tripping as means to keep him in Tyria by her side. In Dido s first approach, she is very irrational
and angry. Her first words to him are You even hoped to keep me in the dark as to this outrage, did
you, two faced man, and slip away in silence? (Aeneid 397 399) The Queen is rash and uncaring with
her words. Her words mean to keep him there to argue and argue until the fight has left him and is
willing to stay just to stop the fighting. As the argument drags on, she grows furious and wishes that If

Even though a good marriage is a perfectly reasonable to stay with somebody, Aeneas does not know
their relationship as a marriage. In response to her ramblings about their marriage , he says I never
held the torches of a bridegroom, never entered upon the pact of marriage. (Aeneid 443 444) To most
people, this is a perfectly reasonable response but not in this situation. According to Wall Street
Insanity, Queen Dido is a crazy chick because She clings tightly to truths she s decided on, even if
there s no evidence to support them (Henderson) such as the marriage between her and Aeneas. When
dealing with someone who is slightly unstable like Queen Dido, it is best to not anger them as Aeneas
did with his careless words even though they are true. This method is tried and untrue as her entire
argument comes from something that is not recognized by both

Emily Dickinson Because I Could Not Stop For Death Essay
Death was very prevalent in the life of Emily Dickinson. It had all started with the death of her loved
ones and family friends that led her into a state of solitary where she had become very reclusive and
gave her time to write the large amount of poems she created. It has provided people who have had
something tragic or just in that state of mind to provide an outing as well as provide incredible
imagery to pass onto a reader. Emily Dickinson was a poet that has very impressive way of using

rights, and their history. The dystopian genre has been classified to have constraints upon the structure
of the storyline; variations of such plots come through in different ideas, but all adhere to: conformity,
surveillance / invasion of privacy, a terrible / unnamable past which lead to the dystopia s creation, a
futuristic setting, lack of rights / freedom / expression for the people, and a distinct segregation of the
higher and lower classes. How does the text conform to, or deviate from, the conventions of a

Character Interactions In The Palace Thief By Canin
People interact with each other on a day to day basis, often times revealing more about who they are
about a person and what they believe to be right and wrong. The author of The Palace Thief , Canin,
strategically uses character interactions to evolve a central idea. Morals are a debatable subject
because not everyone has a moral code and not everyone follows their moral code as closely as they
think they do. The environment in which people grow up and live in for a long period of time affects
how strictly they follow their morals, if some people grow up never following their morals, in the
future they also aren t going to follow their morals. Canin utilizes character interactions to support the
overall central idea that whether or not we have a moral code, it is set early on in life. People who don
t follow a moral code don t really show much care for other people and don t think twice about doing
the wrong thing. The interactions Sedgewick has with Hundert demonstrate that Sedgewick has no
morals, which also supports the central idea. Based off what Hundert describes about the interactions
between the two, it appears that Sedgewick either didn t recognize he was doing the wrong thing or
didn t care that it was the morally wrong thing. Upon getting caught, Sedgewick states quite snarkily, I
knew you saw, and the way he says it, along with the context of the statement, makes it seem like he
shows no regret, and wouldn t think twice about doing it again. (Canin, pg. 171, para. 4). After
Hundert had caught sight of Sedgewick s puerile behavior and thinks back on it he believed that
because of the student s depravity he already known what an act of corruption, he had committed, and
that was especially chilling to Hundert because of his rigid code of morals. (Canin, pg. 172, para. 1).
The interactions between the two characters provide aid to the localized central idea because the way
that Sedgewick behaves and speaks to Hundert exhibit the qualities of a person without morals. People
who don t know, or more often, don t care whether what they are doing is wrong don t have a moral
code which they follow on a day to day basis. Characters who have a moral code but don t follow it

The D-Bart Company Case
Introduction D Bart Industries is an organization in that manufacturing industry that fabricates
precision parts for medical equipment and airplane parts. This newly formed firm was created from
the merger of two previous competitors, Davis Manufacturing and Bartlund Technologies. Moreover,
these organizations were managed significantly different: Erik Bartlund greatly empowered his
employees and fostered a climate of innovation and product development, while Ted Davis relied on a
stringent hierarchy of command and control to create quality products. Also, Davis industries were
unionized, while Bartlund remained nonunion, a structure that was carried over to D Bart. After the
merger, the large company initially consisted of nine total geographically separated locations;
therefore, to scale back, management decided to close the San Jose plant and move the majority of
employees to San Francisco location. In order to facilitate the closing, the San Jose division manager,
Karen Howell decided to let go roughly 20% of the employees. Consequentially, she determined to let

The negative aspect of voluntary separation is the company cannot choose who leaves, meaning D
Bart can lose productive employees and valuable knowledge. Performance appraisals are one of the
best methods to avoid this negative affect (Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016), but since these are not
a valid option, it is a risk the company must take. Regardless, the company can attempt to limit the
loss of valuable employees by offering and monitoring the voluntary separations in a manner that
prevents from employees with similar skills from leaving (Zatzick, Zhao, Tingling, 2014). For
example, Karen could cap the amount of employee for voluntary separation at 20% from each

Mourning and Melancholia in Hemingway’s For Whom the Bell...
Mourning and Melancholia in Hemingway s For Whom the Bell Tolls Ernest Hemingway s For Whom
the Bell Tolls (1940) begins with a quotation from John Donne s Meditation XVII. With this epigraph,
Hemingway identifies the source of his title and defines the connections achieved between human
beings through mourning.: Donne s argument begins, No man is an island, and it concludes with an
assertion of our bond to the dead: never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee. Proper
mourning acknowledges the losses to our self in the death of another. Hemingway s For Whom the
Bell Tolls depicts such connections to the dead and examines the emotional effects of incomplete
mourning in terms that parallel Freud s own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In both works, Hemingway praises the volunteers who died fighting to protect republican values. In an
introduction to the Eulogy written after World War II, Hemingway scolded America for its failure to
support these premature antifascists (Nelson 26). At another point, he explains this failure: The
majority of the career diplomats of England, France, and the United States , are fascist, and it is they
who supply the erroneous information on which their foreign offices and state departments act (Hem
on War, 293). The ideologies of the diplomats led to the great bloodbath of the Second World War.
Hemingway helps us to mourn the deaths of Jordan and the other volunteers because he affirms that
they are, in fact, unacknowledged instances of our own losses. Yet, many of the volunteers in the
International Corps during the Spanish Civil War felt betrayed by Hemingway s depictions of literary
and historical characters and events. Some of the veterans criticized the lack of political ideology in
the central character, the literary self indulgence of the love relationship between Jordan and Maria,
and the negative depictions of several of the leaders of the Republican forces. Pilar s narrative
describing the massacre of civilian villagers provoked the sharpest criticism. According to Milton
Wolff, many veterans felt that Hemingway had 2 Page 3 ignored fascist atrocities and betrayed loyalist
soldiers who had been killed or wounded in Spain. Wolff also

Wedding Tips For A Wedding
Getting engaged is a wonderful time in every woman s life; however the excitement can quickly be
overpowered by stress. In the United States the average cost of a wedding is $26,000! Personally,
when I learned how expensive weddings are, I immediately began brainstorming on how I could
shrink this number. One big way to save some money on your big day is to plan your wedding
yourself rather than spending thousands of dollars on a professional wedding planner. This essay is for
brides everywhere who wish to successfully plan their wedding on their own. First things first, you
need to decide on a month which you desire to have your wedding. This is an important part of
planning your wedding because you need to plan things months in advance and setting a general date
will help you do so. About nine months before the wedding you should begin to look at wedding
invitation designs and browse through wedding dress photos. Also, if you plan on having an
engagement party send out these invitations and decide on décor and snacks for the party. Engagement
parties are not generally for gift giving; however, if you do wish to receive gifts on this day, it is
important that you begin a wedding registry so guests can buy you what you would like. After your
engagement party you should begin your wedding guest list and decide who will be in your wedding
party. Last, but definitely not least, reserve your wedding venue! It is important to reserve your
wedding venue as soon as possible, so

Behavior Therapy
Introduction The behavioral theory of counselling is a type of therapy that bases its foundation on the
belief that it is possible to learn behavior. Counsellors and therapists apply classic conditioning as one
way in which this type of therapy could be implemented and it is derived from the research conducted
by Ivan Pavolov. The theorist evaluated classic condition through an experiment with dogs, whereby
he focused on the impact of a learned response. Based on his study, Pavolov was able to determine
that behavior can be conditioned though the use of a stimulus (Fava et al., 2014). With regards to
domestic violence, it is possible to incorporate behavior therapy to reduce the prevalence of the

The Civil War As A Propagandist War
Hurst wrote about Civil War battles he was in and mentions the propaganda he witnessed over a four
year span. He remarked how outlandish the Southern newspapers were. It is unusual for a general,
who is amongst the chaos of the war, to notice something seemingly trivial. We are daily in receipt of
newspapers of Augusta and Savannah, and of the rural districts, which our foragers bring in; and we
laugh ourselves to tears sometimes at their last ditch literature. Half scared to death, and yet boastful
and defiant, they exhibit a rich combination of the coward and the braggart (Hurst, 2012, p. 159).
While being in the middle of the war, Hurst had a unique viewpoint that most other journalists missed,
ignored, or failed to write about. It is unusual to look at the Civil War as a propagandist war, yet
multiple current sources allude to that. Hurst s realization was quite telling; now historians whom
examined the press after the war are able to see the blatant transparency. To modern readers, the
acerbic tone of the era s reporting seems more akin to partisan propaganda than objective journalism
(Davis Robertson, 2009, p. 35). This further reiterates what Hurst picked up on and shows how both
the North and South journalists wrote in a propagandist tone. When the Civil War had just begun,
there was already a general dislike of the war in the North, which set the tone for said pieces of the
Union. Early in the conflict, negative press plagued Union generals, and Grant was

Internet Security Essay
Internet security are such a big thing because many things are based off the internet. As in most of the
storage is done off of cloud storage, so you don t need lots of storage in your computer. Which makes
internets unsafe because anyone could hack into your account and take your information. Like your
bank account and your personal accounts that could really hurt you I the long run. Or someone could
put a scam on a common website that most people go on. And could hack everyone s computer that
has the scams. Another way of spamming is by hacking into someone else email and sending them
spam that looks like legitimate with a subject or message. Fooled sender email addresses, logos,
trademarks, and the wording used in the message will often add to the trick. Some of the risks of
internet security are virus, worms, spyware, adware, spam and phishing. Virus is a program designed
to copy itself and spread, it usually attaching itself to applications. It can be spread by downloading
files, exchanging CD/DVDs and USB sticks, copying files from servers, or by opening infected email
attachments. It could destroy your computer. Worm can be injected into a network by any types of
means, like a USB stick or an email attachment. Email worm tends to send itself to all email addresses

The Allegory Of Invisible Cities Essay
The Allegory in Invisible Cities Italo Calvino s extraordinary story, Invisible Cities is a literary
accomplishment. Invisible Cities contains of an impressive display of discussions between Marco

Kublai Khan s garden and Marco Polo details, or for all one knows invents, depictions of several
wonderful cities. Considering these cities are not ever actually seen, yet only recounted, they are
unnoticeable to the emperor. In consideration of the fact that they might not actually exist, they may

and the cities he has traveled, or one city in several structures. These expeditions involve cities of
memory, trading cities, cities of desire, thin cities, continuous cities and of the sky. The outcome is an
intensely intriguing achievement of literature that urges surpassing the borders of the fictional book.

Friedrich Nietzsche And William James
Friedrich Nietzsche and William James were philosophers who examined the search for truth and its
application in modern society. While both scholars were contemporaries and concentrated on the
function of truth, Nietzsche s philosophy advocated a scientific approach which renounced all
religious frameworks, while James theory enabled one to find truth even in the metaphysical.
In The Portable Nietzsche, Nietzsche investigates the meaning of truth in the apparent world and its
relationship to the proposed existence of God. More specifically, the philosopher attempts to explain
how our world is misguided by the moral framework propagated by Christianity. This religion
promises a God created true world, but only for those who are the most pious and repentant. However,
even as this promise becomes more distant and obscure, the quest for everlasting life still creates a
pervasive set of morals that taint one s views of truth in the apparent world. Hence, the only way to
overcome this obstacle and attain truth in this (apparent) world, is by divesting from the beliefs and
moral framework created by Christianity.
Nietzsche s argument begins by questioning what is the meaning of truth? Is it an absolute, or as
Nietzsche believes, the result of arbitrary abstraction, that derives its meaning from the individual s
experiences, language and perspectives? (45) Hence, truths are basically illusions, influenced by a
prescribed set of virtues preached by Christianity and

Bicycle Frame Materials Essay
Frame materials
Some of the materials that are used to make bicycle frames include Steel, Aluminium alloys, Titanium
and Carbon fibre. Below is a brief description of Steel, Aluminium and Titanium in relation to bicycle
frames. Thereafter is a more detailed study and comparison of each of the different properties of a
bicycle frame under the candidate materials. This will provide the basis for choosing the best material
for the job.
Steel Steel is the most ordinarily utilized material as a part of bicycle frame. They are solid, simple to
work and generally low in cost, and heavier than numerous other structural materials. Steel frames are
regularly assembled utilizing different sorts of steel alloys like chromoly. Chromoly is low in density,
solid steel. The can be lasted through years of utilization when it resisted and shaped to remove the
overabundance weight. Chromoly has a good flex.
Aluminium Aluminium has a lower density and lower strength compared with steel alloys. They,
however, possess a better strength to weight ratio, giving them notable weight advantages over steel.
Titanium Titanium consolidates numerous characteristics. It has a high strength and it will not corrode
that easily . The titanium frames can be developed with standard tube sizes if compared to the steel
frame of last time because of the sensible stiffness of the Titanium.
Carbon Fibre Carbon fiber composite is an increasingly popular non metallic material commonly used

The Holocaust And The Loss Of The Holocaust
The Holocaust will never be forgotten and it should never be forgotten. There are many people out in
the world that lost family members and friends through the Holocaust. The Holocaust was a very
brutal and stressful time for anyone that had to experience it. There are people out in the world that are
still alive from the Holocaust and they tell stories about what they had to do and also what they had to
deal with during the Holocaust. People may think that it is dumb to not forget about the Holocaust and
we should all forget about it so we can move on from it but we need to know what happened so that
whatever happened in the Holocaust could never happen to us.
It is therefore important to remember the Holocaust because it is an example of how these trends could
evolve into something far more threatening. However, the Holocaust is more than a warning for the

years, Kraft has made changes to market a main focus with the interest of health and food die with

way Kraft decided to changes its mac and cheese product was by removing artificial flavors,

change came about after some people found that this product carried ... Show more content on

Analysis Of Atmospheric On Site Assignment
For my Atmospheric on Site assignment I chose the store Scheels. I chose Scheels because this is
where I ve almost always gone for any sporting good needs, as well as most of my apparel needs.
When entering the store, I receive a very welcoming hello from the clerks, as well as a few eye
catching displays of animals up on the walls. After walking to my first section, the baseball section,
which at the time was pretty small, being out of season. I could immediately smell leather a vague sent
of leather. As I had mentioned, the selection was quite small but they still had a small variety of
options. They had all their bats in one sections, both girls and guys. They were separated according,
from youth bats, all the way up to wood bats. As I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This then brings bake the idea that they have plenty of experts in each section for advice you on all
their products and make sure you are getting the right product. Next, I went over the hunting and
fishing section, knowing that was in season, it should be interesting. This section had plenty of experts
helping the vast number of customers coming in. They had great displays, from mounted fish and deer
to bears. With myself not being a big hunter, this still gave a great deal of excitement when entering
their hunting and fishing section. I asked the manager, how it works with expanding in season
products . He said, yes of course they expand to fit each season, but they also try their best to not take
anything off the floor. He was explaining why they spend money to put these displays and animals
along with different pictures and displays in each section. They want to create a specialty shop vibe.
The feeling that when you walk into a different section that section is almost as if it s a different store
itself. They put different style manikins and displays in every section to make it feel as if that
customer was walking into a boutique. One thing he said he really liked that they no longer do, was
different music in every section. They had to change this and go with a store wide playlist. However, it
still does fit each section accordingly, and that would explain what I was hearing around the store,
going from section to section. I headed over towards the shoes

Chile 1960 Research Paper
In Valdivia, Chile 1960 an earthquake changed the lives of many. An earthquake is the violent shaking
of the ground that will destroy homes, buildings, landforms, historical monuments, and lives.
Earthquakes begin with the breakage of rock along a fault line. When two tectonic plates rub against
each other they create an earthquake. Earthquakes will ride along a fault line which will determine
how long the quake will go on. The larger and longer the fault like the bigger the earthquake.
Earthquakes send out waves, primary waves or, p waves and secondary waves or, s waves travel along
the interior of the earth. These two waves are called body waves. While detecting the waves, the
primary waves appear first then the secondary waves. Primary waves travel through solids, liquids,
and gasses, which means they are about to travel through the liquid center. Secondary waves are only
able to travel through solids which are why scientists have found that there is a loss of these waves
once they reach the center. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before the quake hit the day before, there were a series of shocks that tipped off to people of Chile
that something was coming. The day that the earthquake hit, it was a rated a 9.5 on the Richter Scale.
The intensity of this caused thousands of buildings to be destroyed and 2,000,000 people left
homeless. The population of the city had greatly decreased and the city also needed to pay for the
damage to be repaired. It would be 800 million American dollars to complete the cleanup and repairs
of the city almost completely. This earthquake was called The Great Chilean Earthquake because of
the total destruction and because of the expansion of it where other countries received the aftershocks
and effects. Japan had received a tsunami a day later, killing 138 people and leaving 1600 homes
destroyed. Japan was left to pay 34 million dollars for damage

The Most Iconic Civil Rights Movement Influencers Of All...
To begin my essay, I would like to start off with arguably the most iconic civil rights movement
influencers of all time, Billie Holiday. Eleanora Fagan was born on April 7, 1915 and is from the
Quaker City formally known as Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Eleanora childhood could be best
described as unsteady, at times. During these trying points in her life, Eleanora enjoyed singing along
to records and escape the harsh reality of her life. When she made the move to New York with her
mother around the age of 15, she began to perform at local clubs under the name Billie . After a while
of singing solo, Billie was discovered by producer John Hammond and her career had begun. Holiday
then began to work solo at the New York Café Society club. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

She began to play piano at her father s church for some time. Nina dreamed of becoming a pioneer
African American pianist but her hopes and dreams were crushed when her acceptance to an
institution was denied. Unsurprisingly, Nina Simone s ethnicity influenced the rejection of her
application. This did not stop her as she began to play at local bars and soon enough, at the age of 24,
she caught the attention of several labels. One of Simones most famous and controversial pieces of art
is the track titles Mississippi Goddam . This track rose to fame by unsettling her relationship with
white listeners but strengthening her position within the civil rights movement. Nina Simones
Mississippi Goddam was a track that the artist wrote following the horrific events that took place in
Mississippi and Alabama. In Mississippi, a prominent civil rights activist named Medgar Evars was
murdered. Meanwhile in Birmingham, Alabama a church was bombed taking the lives of four young
African American women. Enraged, Simone retaliated by doing what she does best, music. She
debuted the song at New York in Carnegie Hall to hundreds of listeners. Simone was destined to bring
the truth of the horrors that occurred to her predominantly white crowd. This song showed great
frustration that Simone held toward the United States much so that in 1970; Simone left the United
States for good and relocated in France where she spent her last days. The next artist I would like to
discuss

Avoid My Sister s Couch Analysis
Trying to Avoid My Sister s Couch
It all started when I was in elementary school Amy and I would write, direct, act, and edit home
videos. To us it was entertaining, not realizing that later on in life I would return to this creative
endeavor to save my life. Once we entered middle school creating movies was considered uncool , so
we stopped making them. However, I didn t stop it was just the beginning. It was the summer of 2003
when I was getting ready to go into middle school, but the universe had different plans for me. My
father and his friends brought Bruce Springsteen tickets and they decided to bring their families along.
I went to the show but the whole time I remember complaining of a headache. After the show I fell
asleep ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though I read the books and listen to motivational podcasts there s something that is missing
from my life. I know you have to think positive, act as if, believe, visualize, and have a deep
relationship with God. However I feel as though I am stuck. My friends are advancing in their lives
and careers. Then there s me, I recently got laid off from my job and I m scrambling to find a new one,
but I know in my heart that whatever regular job I get won t compare to my dream job, which is to
become a screenwriter. Although I try positive affirmations and crafting a new vision board each year
I m still stuck. How can I believe in myself when the people who are the closest to me don t even
believe that I can make it? They laugh at my ideas and they don t want to hear what I say because they
think I m too positive , unrealistic , or in la la land . I want to prove to my haters, non believers,
friends and family members that I can and I will make it, but how can I do that when it s me going up
against the world while I am trying to build my career, self confidence, trying to get a new job, and
deal with every day life situations? I think on the outside I come off as a positive thinker, happy go
lucky person, but I feel as though deep inside lies the real me which is a pessimist who is scared to
believe in

Method · Measure out 50ml of thiosulphate and add it to the conical flask. · Draw a cross on a piece of paper and place the conical flask on it. · Measure out 10ml of acid and add it to the conical flask and start timing.

Then add 2ml of distilled water. The ratio for each experiment will therefore be 10:0, 8:2, 6:4, 4:6 and of acid to water Conclusion I conclude that whilst carrying out this investigation I found out that the more acid was in the solution the cross on the paper disappeared quicker. This shows that the more concentrated the acid is then the quicker the reaction time. My research about the collision theory was correct and the more concentrated the solution is then the number of collisions will be increased. If the numbers of collisions are increased then the reaction time will also be increased. My prediction that the less concentrated the acid is then the longer it will take for the sodium thiosulphate to react with the acid is correct because experiment number 5 ... • 6. The Pros And Cons Of Stay-At-Home Mom Stay at home mothers are discriminated against in many ways. Stay at home mothers might be considered lazy for choosing to stay at home and take care of their child instead of going back to work immediately. Even if a mother is planning on going back to work after a while, she still isn t treated the same as women without children. In Confessions of a Stay at Home Mom, Ashley Nelson argues that taking time off of work after a woman has a child can be bad, women with children may earn less pay, and mothers are less likely to be promoted. I agree with Nelson that taking time off work can be bad, mothers may earn less pay, and mothers are less likely to be promoted because taking off of work can cause women to get out of the routine of working full time and we may not be able to do our best work as soon as we return. Ashley Nelson s article, Confessions of a Stay at Home Mom, is about mothers and what they should do about work when they have a child. Nelson argues that taking time off of work after a woman has a child can cause her to not be offered the same jobs or benefits as a non mother or male. Labor statistics show that while full time working women without children earn 7 percent less than their male counterparts, women with children earn 23 percent less (Nelson 413). She also states that mothers are less likely to be promoted than women without children. The sense is that employers, consciously or not, demote mothers, assuming they cannot live up to the hours and demands of the work place (Nelson 414). Nelson also argues that women should keep some kind of a job after having children because they will be much more likely to get a new job or get their old job back with more benefits, better hours, and better pay. Nelson argues that taking a lot of time off of work after having a child can be bad. Nelson states that even minor career breaks have dire economic consequences (413). This means that by leaving a career, even for just a couple of years, can have bad consequences. I believe that Nelson is correct because when women leave their job, they might have a hard time getting it back. Even though a mother is leaving her job to take care of her child, she is still quitting her job. When someone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Analysis Of Jane Campion s The Piano Applying a postcolonial perspective, write an analysis of the ideas and values in Jane Campion s The Piano Looking at Jane Campion s The Piano through a post colonial perspective ideas of isolation, civilised vs the uncivilised, and authority and the power as a result of European settlement in New Zealand can be examined. Jane Campion s The Piano explores cultural differences between the native Maori people of New Zealand and the newly arrived Europeans. The first aspect that must be taken into account in this analysis is the physical setting. The film is set within the lush bush of New Zealand just off the coast in the 1850s. The setting itself is intriguing, and very intense in its complexity and density, but yet provides an air of isolation and confinement for the newly arrived Ada. Upon arrival to the beach their shelter for the night, is set against the backdrop of a hostile and empty coast. Ada s surroundings act as a canvas to display the displacement of European settlement. The Maoris often complement the natural environment, working with it in their movements, rather than against as do Ada and Flora. They are shown struggling through the mud and the new terrain in situations where the Maoris fit in seamlessly with their surroundings. Their property is also immediately surrounded my tree trunks, rather than the rich greenery seen elsewhere in the film, symbolic of the Europeans destructions as a result of colonisation. Campion utilises costuming to display the authority and power of the European culture, whilst also criticising its limitations. The natural setting is often juxtaposed with the Europeans dark, and structured clothing, which is ultimately entirely impractical. Ada wears her exuberant, yet dull Victorian clothing, whilst Stewarts clothing is often almost too small, confining and restricting. Her costuming immediately draws the intrigue of the locals, as does her fair skin, isolating her further. This use of costuming highlights how out of place the Europeans are, but also their ignorance of the realities of their environment. This is compared with the Maori s more natural, relaxed clothing that blends with the naturalistic environment. However, there are often aspects of European ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Moral Education Essay Moral education can be described as the guidance and teaching of good behaviour and values. It is taught to young children in schools, providing them with a sense of politeness and lawfulness. The critical objective of moral education is to instruct these human values in the students. When defining moral education we are often inclined to two outwardly opposed perspectives: traditional character education which is focused on the development of specific kinds of virtuous traits and habits (Narvaez, 2006) and rational moral education which focuses on moral judgment and reasoning regarding justice and fairness. Moral decision making differs in men and women as outlined in the findings of theorists Kohlberg and Gilligan. • 11. Narrative Directive In The Poisonwood Bible The Poisonwood Bible Journal #1 The novel The Poisonwood Bible opens with a narrative directive and it has an effect on the reader(s). The narrative directive is to put one in the setting to make you feel like you are actually there because in the opening paragraph it says, I want you to be its conscience, the eyes in the trees, which is there to give background of Africa, since this is where the Price family is heading off to for missionary work (Kingsolver 5). The opening scene suggest that the future of Africa is going to be the thing unfolding as well as what happens when people go to Africa (the difference between the United States and Africa) in the coming chapters. Orleanna used the word you in her narrative and she was most likely referring to God or whatever she may be worshipping because of the way it is used. In the text, Orleanna says, Your bright eyes bear down on me without cease, on behalf of the quick and the dead, which proves it could be God because she says it bears down on her, so it could explain it because heaven and gods are above us according to mythology/bible (Kingsolver 7). The disaster she alludes is when her and her family went to Africa, for missionary work. I think the reason that Orleanna talks in the past while her daughters Leah, Adah, Ruth May, and Rachel talk in the present, is to give two different perspectives. They (the Price family) are in Africa for a long time, so Orleanna could be talking about something she has already experienced or seen, while the other girls are talking about day to day stuff, not looking back on the trip but living in the moment. There are many different narrators throughout the book and Kingsolver found a way to characterize each sister individually. Rachel s chapters always have her privileged self complaining and comparing her life in Georgia to her life in Africa now. She continually states wanting to go back home. Adah, on the other hand, explains her current situation but adds her disbelief of God and or her speculations, which adds an interesting approach because she is the daughter of a priest and of a family who is doing missionary work, so you would think she would be full of christianity. • 12. The Similarities And Differences Of Basketball Vs.... There are many similarities and differences between pro basketball and college. There are many different rules between pro and college level. The NBA consist of 32 professional teams, but the college level has 347 division 1 schools that develop players and make them grow into being a professional athlete. When coming out of high school, you get to choose what school you want to play for. Most athletes pick the biggest school with the biggest fan base. That way these players will be noticed and scouted before going pro. The professional level is completely different because you enter the draft. You don t get to choose where or who you play for after the draft. There are so many differences and similarities between the two. A difference between the two are that in the NBA you can foul six times before fouling out but in the NCAA you get only 5. Fouling out results in you sitting on the bench for the rest of the game without playing but just watching. In the NBA after five fouls the opposing team is put in the bonus, but in the NCAA it takes seven fouls to be put into the bonus. The bonus for the NBA is when you get fouled you get two free throws. In the NCAA you get a term called One and one . It s where you shoot one free throw and make it you get a chance at another, but if you miss the first shot you don t get another shot. The tenth foul in college basketball results in the double bonus where you will be allowed to shoot two free throws in a row even if you miss one. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Final Reflection For Research Paper Final Reflection Sandy Wisneski Technology is often used for the wrong reasons in the classroom. Teachers find a new idea and jump on the technology band wagon without considering if this is the best use for the digital tool. When planning lessons using technology, consideration needs to made as to how the tool will enhance the lesson or will it just be an added feature. I love the challenge of new technology and am always on the lookout for ways to engage students in my classroom. I do have a strong background with technology but found new tidbits to add to my repertoire when using the Google Apps. Since most of my information was gained through my own investigation, it was helpful to dig deeper into what Google offers. When integrating any new applications into the classroom, digital citizenship is an essential building block. Students need to respect technology and connecting with others the same way we do face to face. This is critical when working collaboratively in a Google doc or slideshow. • 15. Absence Of His Father In Booker T Washington The name Booker T. Washington is often closely associated with prestige and great success as a leader. However, before he was the man we know of today he came from a life of struggle and constant strife. Before he became an image of freedom and intelligence he had to endure not only conflicts externally for the color of his skin, but internally as well as he struggled to live his life accordingly without the proper guidance of a father. The autobiography Up from Slavery gives us a new perspective as the narrative tells the story of his life from slavery to becoming one of the founders of Tuskegee Institute. Yet, a man with his reputation it would be virtually impossible to reach his stature without having some sort of guidance from mentors. Of course, throughout the narrative Washington acknowledges many people in his life who he considered to be a father figure , but due to the fact he was the son of a slave cook and a white man he never knew, there was never a true biological father son relationship in his life. This begs the question if the lack and absence of his own father shaped his own self perception, his relationship with others, as well as his leadership style? By analyzing excerpts and quotes within the literature piece one could conclude that the absence of his father is something Booker T. Washington has come to terms with thus not placing heavy burden on his life style and choices. For example, a specific quote in the text shows how Washington does not put ... • 19. Departures Storm Jameson In Departures, Storm Jameson depicts her isolation as a child and its continuation into adulthood. Behind the cold barriers that Jameson builds around herself in both her child and adult life, an unending cycle of fear continues within her. This cycle is reflected in the narrative structure of the anecdote. Jameson s authorial choices to employ Labov s elements in a disjointed fashion and have a brief complicating action reinforce her social detachment both as a child and an adult. Along with the disjointed narrative elements, an omitted coda and resolution convey that the detachment continues throughout her life in a cycle of fear and isolation. With the intent of creating a structural detachment that reflects her own emotional detachment, Jameson, as author, puts together an orientation and complicating action that don t appear to go together. On a September train ride, distant memories and thoughts blur past the grown Jameson s eyes, such as the journeys made feverish by unmanageable longings and ambitions, night journeys in wartime (15) and continue to make their way to the forefront of her mind with a picture of the darkened corridor crammed with young men in clumsy khaki, smoking, falling asleep, [and] journeys with a heavy baby in one arm (Jameson 15). Before Jameson as adult can make her way back to her memory as a child, she must travel through many other memories of departures and journeys. This roundabout way in which Jameson brings her reader into her memories structurally reflects the detached feelings she has for herself as a child. It suggests a physiological separation between Jameson and herself because she cannot easily think about her past. These detached feelings are enforced textually when she uses the third person to refer to herself as the child (15) and to those presumably close to her like her mother, whom she calls the captain s wife (16). By creating this structural and textual detachment, Jameson emphasizes her emotional isolation from herself as a child. Before speaking about herself as a child, she must search through her memories like a knot of adders uncoiling themselves, (15) which suggests that it is painful for Jameson to reach back to her childhood ... They may poke a hole in a condom so their partner feels obligated to stay with a baby on the way or make them feel guilty enough to stay. Virgil explores this idea in the Aeneid using Queen Dido. When Aeneas is preparing to leave to fulfill his legacy, the Queen tries using anger, their marriage, manipulation, and guilt tripping as means to keep him in Tyria by her side. In Dido s first approach, she is very irrational and angry. Her first words to him are You even hoped to keep me in the dark as to this outrage, did you, two faced man, and slip away in silence? (Aeneid 397 399) The Queen is rash and uncaring with her words. Her words mean to keep him there to argue and argue until the fight has left him and is willing to stay just to stop the fighting. • 23. Character Interactions In The Palace Thief By Canin People interact with each other on a day to day basis, often times revealing more about who they are about a person and what they believe to be right and wrong. The author of The Palace Thief , Canin, strategically uses character interactions to evolve a central idea. Morals are a debatable subject because not everyone has a moral code and not everyone follows their moral code as closely as they think they do. The environment in which people grow up and live in for a long period of time affects how strictly they follow their morals, if some people grow up never following their morals, in the future they also aren t going to follow their morals. Canin utilizes character interactions to support the overall central idea that whether or not we have a moral code, it is set early on in life. People who don t follow a moral code don t really show much care for other people and don t think twice about doing the wrong thing. The interactions Sedgewick has with Hundert demonstrate that Sedgewick has no morals, which also supports the central idea. Based off what Hundert describes about the interactions between the two, it appears that Sedgewick either didn t recognize he was doing the wrong thing or didn t care that it was the morally wrong thing. Upon getting caught, Sedgewick states quite snarkily, I knew you saw, and the way he says it, along with the context of the statement, makes it seem like he shows no regret, and wouldn t think twice about doing it again. (Canin, pg. 171, para. 4). After Hundert had caught sight of Sedgewick s puerile behavior and thinks back on it he believed that because of the student s depravity he already known what an act of corruption, he had committed, and that was especially chilling to Hundert because of his rigid code of morals. (Canin, pg. 172, para. 1). The interactions between the two characters provide aid to the localized central idea because the way that Sedgewick behaves and speaks to Hundert exhibit the qualities of a person without morals. People who don t know, or more often, don t care whether what they are doing is wrong don t have a moral code which they follow on a day to day basis. This newly formed firm was created from the merger of two previous competitors, Davis Manufacturing and Bartlund Technologies. The ideologies of the diplomats led to the great bloodbath of the Second World War. Hemingway helps us to mourn the deaths of Jordan and the other volunteers because he affirms that they are, in fact, unacknowledged instances of our own losses. Yet, many of the volunteers in the International Corps during the Spanish Civil War felt betrayed by Hemingway s depictions of literary and historical characters and events. Some of the veterans criticized the lack of political ideology in the central character, the literary self indulgence of the love relationship between Jordan and Maria, and the negative depictions of several of the leaders of the Republican forces. • 30. The Civil War As A Propagandist War Hurst wrote about Civil War battles he was in and mentions the propaganda he witnessed over a four year span. He remarked how outlandish the Southern newspapers were. It is unusual for a general, who is amongst the chaos of the war, to notice something seemingly trivial. We are daily in receipt of newspapers of Augusta and Savannah, and of the rural districts, which our foragers bring in; and we laugh ourselves to tears sometimes at their last ditch literature. Half scared to death, and yet boastful and defiant, they exhibit a rich combination of the coward and the braggart (Hurst, 2012, p. 159). While being in the middle of the war, Hurst had a unique viewpoint that most other journalists missed, ignored, or failed to write about. It is unusual to look at the Civil War as a propagandist war, yet multiple current sources allude to that. Hurst s realization was quite telling; now historians whom examined the press after the war are able to see the blatant transparency. To modern readers, the acerbic tone of the era s reporting seems more akin to partisan propaganda than objective journalism (Davis Robertson, 2009, p. 35). This further reiterates what Hurst picked up on and shows how both the North and South journalists wrote in a propagandist tone. When the Civil War had just begun, there was already a general dislike of the war in the North, which set the tone for said pieces of the Union. • 38. Friedrich Nietzsche And William James Friedrich Nietzsche and William James were philosophers who examined the search for truth and its application in modern society. While both scholars were contemporaries and concentrated on the function of truth, Nietzsche s philosophy advocated a scientific approach which renounced all religious frameworks, while James theory enabled one to find truth even in the metaphysical. In The Portable Nietzsche, Nietzsche investigates the meaning of truth in the apparent world and its relationship to the proposed existence of God. More specifically, the philosopher attempts to explain how our world is misguided by the moral framework propagated by Christianity. This religion promises a God created true world, but only for those who are the most pious and repentant. However, even as this promise becomes more distant and obscure, the quest for everlasting life still creates a pervasive set of morals that taint one s views of truth in the apparent world. Hence, the only way to overcome this obstacle and attain truth in this (apparent) world, is by divesting from the beliefs and moral framework created by Christianity. There are people out in the world that are still alive from the Holocaust and they tell stories about what they had to do and also what they had to deal with during the Holocaust. People may think that it is dumb to not forget about the Holocaust and we should all forget about it so we can move on from it but we need to know what happened so that whatever happened in the Holocaust could never happen to us. It is therefore important to remember the Holocaust because it is an example of how these trends could evolve into something far more threatening. However, the Holocaust is more than a warning for the past. The human cost of the lost of six million lives is incalculable; consider what could have been achieved by those who died, what could have been discovered, written, invented and prevented. There is a very long list of Holocaust survivors who have positively contributed to society but they represent a tiny portion of talent and promise of the generations of European jews lost to us. Many did there best to assimilate wherever they were by simply building new ordinary live for themselves. Another reason why we should never forget the Holocaust is because in the book The Night it was talking about on how Eliezer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I chose Scheels because this is where I ve almost always gone for any sporting good needs, as well as most of my apparel needs. When entering the store, I receive a very welcoming hello from the clerks, as well as a few eye catching displays of animals up on the walls. After walking to my first section, the baseball section, which at the time was pretty small, being out of season. I could immediately smell leather a vague sent of leather. This then brings bake the idea that they have plenty of experts in each section for advice you on all their products and make sure you are getting the right product. Next, I went over the hunting and fishing section, knowing that was in season, it should be interesting. This section had plenty of experts helping the vast number of customers coming in. They had great displays, from mounted fish and deer to bears. With myself not being a big hunter, this still gave a great deal of excitement when entering their hunting and fishing section. I asked the manager, how it works with expanding in season products . He said, yes of course they expand to fit each season, but they also try their best to not take anything off the floor. He was explaining why they spend money to put these displays and animals along with different pictures and displays in each section. They want to create a specialty shop vibe. The feeling that when you walk into a different section that section is almost as if it s a different store itself. They put different style manikins and displays in every section to make it feel as if that customer was walking into a boutique. One thing he said he really liked that they no longer do, was different music in every section. They had to change this and go with a store wide playlist. However, it still does fit each section accordingly, and that would explain what I was hearing around the store, going from section to section. I headed over towards the shoes ... An earthquake is the violent shaking of the ground that will destroy homes, buildings, landforms, historical monuments, and lives. Earthquakes begin with the breakage of rock along a fault line. When two tectonic plates rub against each other they create an earthquake. Earthquakes will ride along a fault line which will determine how long the quake will go on. The larger and longer the fault like the bigger the earthquake. Earthquakes send out waves, primary waves or, p waves and secondary waves or, s waves travel along the interior of the earth. These two waves are called body waves. While detecting the waves, the primary waves appear first then the secondary waves. Primary waves travel through solids, liquids, and gasses, which means they are about to travel through the liquid center. Secondary waves are only able to travel through solids which are why scientists have found that there is a loss of these waves once they reach the center. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
