EasyCar s approach, built on the easyJet model, was quite different than the approaches used by the
traditional rental car companies. EasyCar rented only a single vehicle type at each location it
operated, while most of its competitors rented a wide variety of vehicle types. EasyCar did not
work with agents over 95% of its bookings were made through the company s website, with the
remainder of bookings being made directly through the company s phone reservation system (at
a cost to the customer of 0.95 [euro]/minute for the call). Most rental car companies worked with
a variety of intermediaries, with their own websites accounting for less than 10% of their total
booking (Click to fly, 2004). And like easyJet, easyCar managed prices in an attempt to have its
fleet rented out 100% of the time and to generate the maximum revenue from its rentals. EasyCar
s information system constantly evaluated projected demand and expected utilization at each site,
and adjusted price accordingly. Because of its aggressive pricing, easyCar was able to achieve a
fleet utilization rate in excess of 90% (Simpkins, 2002) much higher than other major rental car
companies. Industry leader Avis Europe, for example, had a fleet utilization rate of 68% (Avis
Europe plc, 2002).
It was January, 2003. EasyCar had broken even in the fiscal year ending September 2002
(Simpkins, 2002) on revenues of 27 million [pounds sterling] (Marketing, 2003). This represented a

The Pros And Cons Of The Two Party System
John Adams, one of the founding fathers, wrote that There is nothing which I dread so much as
a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting
measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the
greatest political evil under our Constitution ( Quote by John Adams ). The Two Party system has
been around since the start of America. The Two Party system is a system that has two parties
that the government, or America in this case, has that lead the government or America. At the
current time, the two parties are the Republican and Democrat parties. It was created with the
idea that everyone can be represented within either of the parties. Even though it does create
some representation of the people, the two party system does not create an equal policy in
society because it does not allow people to get far if they are not within either of the two parties,
does not allow the idea of having more than two parties, and because it doesn t represent everyone.
First, the two party system does not create an equal policy in society because it does not allow
people to get far if they are not within either of the two parties. The idea of the winner take all
electoral system is the hostile terrain for third parties because the odds are in favor of the bigger
parties (Conray). The bigger parties over the years seem to have the upper hand within the
government, and especially within the elections.

Analysis Of Nigel Latta Blows Stuff Up Essay
Nigel Latta Blows Stuff Up is a New Zealand based, science themed television show. Each episode
is packed with dramatic and entertaining experiments, testing the fundamentals of science. This
essay will look at what the production manager s duties for this series involve, what major issues
and risk factors the production manager would needto address, and it will suggest course of action
that may solve these problems. These factors will be discussed for pre production, during
production and postproduction. This essay will also focus on examples from episode 1 of the series.
Pre production
The production manager is extremely important in the pre production phase as the work they do in
this time helps to assure that the production and post production run smoothly (Stradling, 2010).
The production manager in this stage is in charge of all the planning around the physical aspects of
the production including budgeting, scheduling, personal, locations, along with other aspects. This
is all taken care of before the series is scheduled to start shooting. Before any of these jobs are
undertaken, it is important for the production manager to understand what the producer wants, what
the investor NZ on Air wants, and what the production company Razor Film wants in order to fulfill
each of their requirements in the show.

The New York City As A Major Obstacle For Receiving...
Introduction New York City is composed of some of the world s most unique and eccentric
neighborhoods the world has ever seen. Amongst these neighborhoods, one can expect to find
Bushwick (Community District 4) and Williamsburg (Community District 1), nestled in in the
northern tip of Brooklyn borough. The earliest colonizers included the Dutch, French,
Scandinavians, and English farmers. Today, however, the spectrum of racial distribution has
changed drastically in which the top ethnic groups include Puerto Rican, African American,
Dominican, Ecuadorian, and Mexican, Polish, Italian, and Hasidic Jews. Both neighborhoods
have an abnormally large rate of preventable illness and death issues. Reasons as to why these
districts are facing such high illness rates could be because of language barriers, economic
conditions, and lack of a primary care physician monitoring health. Since the majority of
individuals living in Bushwick and Williamsburg are of foreign descent, it is only feasible to
hypothesize that language barriers pose as a major obstacle for receiving quality health care. Many
of the residents may not know how to read and understand English, therefore, leading to
compromised delivery of care. Another justification for the residents of Community Board 1 and 4
to not obtain quality care is because of economic conditions. Individuals living in Bushwick are
known to have a lower median household income when compared to Brooklynas a whole: the
difference being $9,000

A Article About Playground Video Games
Few months ago, I have read a Korean article about playground. That article showed statistics of
how many small towns are closing their playgrounds. The reason they close the playgrounds are,
there are no kids anymore. In these days, children are not really spending time with friends to
play outside. Rather, they go into each other s house for playing computer games or video games.
However, when I was young, I always went outside in the afternoon to hangout with my friends
until my parents spend hours to find me. How about you? Haven t you played outside until you
cannot recognize your friends face? For me, while I was playing with my friends, I could not feel
tiredness or starve. I rather choose playing with my friends than eating delicious foods. Everyone
experienced that?
You remember? Last week, we had read and seen the Jesus with feeding 5,000 people with 5
loaves of bread and 2 fish. And today s scripture is extention of the last week s scripture. Today s
scripture starts with crowds who came over to Capernaum to find Jesus. It is not really long
distance, between the place where Jesus performed the miracle of feeding five thousands and
Capernaum are only 6 miles apart. However, they followed Jesus with the purpose of making
Christ the King. If you remember last week s scripture, we had seen Jesus who went away from
the crowds because they wanted to make Jesus King. Jesus was the promised king who came on to
the earth to save everyone from eternal death. However, as

Everlost Character Analysis
In the novel Everlost, Allie is the main protagonist. She is a strong willed, goal oriented girl who
takes risks living her afterlife in Everlost which shows that any problems she encounters will not
stop her from doing what she needs to do. Allie is a bit strong headed but also very independent
although, her choices may never be the best. Her main goal is to find a way out of the limbo world
between life and death known as Everlost to get where you re meant to go . Mary Hightower is
a self proclaimed expert that has given herself the status as being the mother of the many
children stuck in the afterlife welcoming them with open hands. At the beginning, she seems to
be a good character as the story proceeds, she s shown to be neutral and towards the end she
becomes the antagonist. When Nick, Allie, and Lief first encounter Mary she appears to be just
a leader to the Afterlights retaining them from harm and making sure their delighted. Allie later
notices that Mary is selfish keeping the children in an endless loop and would sacrifice anything
to keep them from going in peace and is constantly competing with Nick. Nick aka the Chocolate
Ogre referred by Mary due to the chocolate on his face that will last for eternity is the second
most important character. He is somewhat self absorbed and emotionless and more of a
follower than Allie but is committed to stand up for the people he cares about even if it means
going against his rather obvious crush on Mary. He later discovers that Everlost isn t meant to
be lived in for an unending time and makes it his responsibility to free all the children that are no
longer needed to be in the limbo. He goes in battle against Mary who she tries to keep all
Afterlights to live with her in Everlost and in an endless cycle but his plan is to send all children
s spirts to be at peace and away to where they need to go. Lief is a good hearted, quirky 11 year
old boy who has been living in a burned down forest in Everlost for quite some time and is the
first person Nick and Allie meet when they wake up. In an instant Allie decides to call him Lief
since he couldn t remember his own name and was surrounded by the woodland. He follows them

A Comparsion of the Bhagavad Gita vs The Gospels Essay
Coming from a western culture, it is easy to familiarize with the Gospels over any other written
text. In order to get a different perspective on the outlook of life, it is better to compare the Gospels
to another written text. A text that is an excellent candidate to stand up next to the Gospels is the
Bhagavad Gita (or just the Gita). These two texts can depict similarities and differences between the
two cultures presented: Christianityand Hinduism. Keeping an open mind when reading cultural
texts is what makes the texts more interesting and informs the reader more clearly. The analysis
between one western text and one non western text can really widen the perspective of one person.
Due to the fact that Krishnafrom the Gita seems to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the messages is to basically love God more than anything and put him before everything.
The verse of Matthew 22:37 states that: Thou shalt love The Lord Thy God with all Thy heart,
with all Thy soul, and with all Thy might. Likewise, the Gita says, Keep your mind on me, be my
devotee, sacrificing, bow to me you will come to me, I promise, for you are dear to me (Gita 155).
Clearly the meanings behind both these quotes are the same but just worded differently. Krishna
and Jesus constantly emphasize certain aspects that are similar to the other person s teaching. This
goes to show that even though Hinduism and Christianity are two separate cultures with two
different scriptural texts and two different religions, the idea and meaning behind both of these
religions are closely related. No matter how different the two religions may appear to be, the
meaning behind their scriptures is what really defies their religion. Just because the two religions
believe in different deities doesn t mean that the deities aren t teaching the exact same thing. It s
just that the two religions have different ways of teachings their followers and the teachings are
slightly worded differently, so this is where many people fall into the trap by thinking that the
meanings from the two scriptures are different and unique. Morality is the principles concerning the
distinction between right and

Effect Of Power Quality On A Smooth Industrial Process
Abstract As industries expand, utilities become more interconnected and the use of electricity
rises, power quality becomes essential to insure a smooth industrial process. The main problem
that severely affects the power s quality is the presence of the harmonics, which affects the
performance of the system. Some of the problem caused by the harmonics are metal parts
overheating, increasing noises in motors, decreasing the efficiency of the motors, etc. some
corrective methods can be used to reduce its effect. Contents Introduction3 What is Power

years there has been a great increase in the usage of the solid state electronics technology. This
new technology has provided us with the opportunity to have a product with a high quality with
an increased productivity due to its high efficiency. Today, we can produce products with high
quality at less cost than in the last years, but this new technology has given rise to a new
problem, which is the need for a clear electric power. This new technology has replaced many of
the old ones, bringing many advantages to the user, for example DC AC drives, soft stators, UPS,
etc. Since this new technology is rapidly gaining in the modern industries, power systems are

Ethnic Identity Development
Ethnic Identity Development Ethnic identity development of ethnic minorities in the United States
has attracted an increasing attention in the adolescent development and college transition literature.
A review of literature related to ethnic identity development highlights two major lines of research:
1) identity processes from a developmental perspective and 2) the content and meaning of ethnic
identity (Phinney, 1989; Seller et al., 1997; Yip, 2014). Some scholars have specifically examined
the developmental progression that individuals go through as they come to understand their ethnic
identity and make a commitment (Phinney, 1993). Other scholars have focused on exploring the

Hoping to address the limitations of the MEIM, Umana Taylor, Yazedjian Bamaca Gomez (2004)
created the Ethnic Identity Scale (EIS), which is primarily based on Erikson s and Tajfel s theories.
The EIS consists of 46 assessing three distinct components of ethnic identity: exploration,
resolution, and affirmation. The exploration subscale assesses the extent to which individuals have
explored their ethnic identity; resolution subscale assesses the extent to which individuals have
resolved issues related to their ethnic identity, and affirmation refers to the feelings (positive or
negative) individuals associated with their ethnic identity. Using the three subscales while being
consistent with Marcia s (1980) identity statuses, Umana Taylor et al. (2004) proposed a new
categorization scheme which classifies individuals into 8 ethnic identity statuses: diffuse positive,
diffuse negative, foreclosed positive, foreclosed negative, moratorium positive, moratorium
negative, achieved positive, and achieved negative. For example, diffuse positive characterizes
individuals who scored low on both exploration and resolution subscales, but with high affirmation.
Unlike the MEIM, the EIS allows researchers to take a dimensional approach to understanding
ethnic identity. The score of the subscales are continuous variables, so researchers can examine the
relationship among the three with other variables of

Laurel Creek In Water Essay
Assessing rising invertebrate indicator species presence using the kick and sweep method at Laurel

Keywords
Benthic Invertebrate: commonly used to provide information on the status of a water system.
Having a short life span and a limited range of motion, this organism can do little to avoid pollution
and therefore provides significant data concerning anthropogenic impacts. (Beatty et al., 2006)
Indicator Species: an organism that provides information on the environmental condition of a region

Stream Morphology: used to describe the shape of water channels and how they change over time
through erosion, vegetation, and the availability and rate of sediment transport. (Hogan Luzi, 2010)
Introduction Through the city of Waterloo flows a stream named Laurel Creek that originates
from well north of the city, and as it flows into Silver Lake, it provides a home for many
organisms both on land and in the water. This stream has been heavily influenced by human
construction, and has a number of reservoirs along its path. As the water moves downstream
towards more populated areas, it becomes a sink for waste coming from many sources along the
way. To monitor the health of Laurel Creek, indicator species such as benthic invertebrates that
reside in the water are collected to determine the current status of the stream. The purpose of this
study is to determine the best location to collect samples of invertebrates in relationship to the
stream morphology of Laurel Creek. The results from this study could then be used on other
locations suffering the same problem in Waterloo. These areas can then be observed to determine if
a solution can be found to decrease pollution, therefore decreasing the

Cost Of College Fees
For most, the thought of how much money is spent on college gives prospective students a
headache. The cost is still high despite the implementation of scholarships and financial aid
included. When a student or parent receive the dreaded bill from a university, it is assumed that all
the expenses are written on the bill, but that is not always the case. Instead many secondary schools
have been introducing additional costs, which in most cases are not relevant to the student. For
example, California Polytechnic State has the annual $814 student success fee , which is snuck into

early the functional family therapy developed by Parson utilizes and combines the following

The Changing Nature of Crime and Law Enforcement
Law enforcement agencies nationwide must constantly adapt to the changing nature of crime and
the ways criminals must be prosecuted. New dangers like terrorism, as well as old ones, such as
public corruption, threaten the public and force police agencies to acclimate themselves to this new
environment. President Clinton explained the need for the development of the federal and local
law enforcement agencies.
We have begun to find a way to reduce crime, forming community partnerships with local police

working. But we still have a long way to go before our streets are safe and our people are free from

White Collar crime entails illegal actions committed by upper class people and businesses. In the
past crimes like fraud, embezzlement, income tax evasion, and abuse of political and legal powers
were treated by authorities more than typical crimes.
Historically, most white collar criminals were simply fired or fined. Rarely were jail sentences
imposed let alone served. This leniency stemmed from the perception that a high status individual
implicated in criminal activity was sufficiently punished by the loss of their social stature and
partly from the fact that most white collar crimes are so called victimless offenses. Only recently
has this attitude begun to change. White collar crime has become an increasing problem in the
latter part of the twentieth century. Authorities in the U.S., in particular, are dealing more severely
with such crimes. Identity theft has been a problem facing police departments recently. It is a
crime in which someone obtains and uses another person s personal information in a way that
involves fraud. In the United States and Canada, for example, many people have reported that
unauthorized people have taken money out of their bank. In 1998 Congress made identity theft a
federal offense to therefore create stricter penalties for these criminals. Police agencies all over the

What Threats Did Newell Face In The Late 1990 s
What opportunities and threats did Newell face in the late 1990 s? Use external analysis tools to
provide support for your answer. Threats: One of the biggest threats Newell faced was dealing in
a fragmented industry. There is a high level of competition and low barriers to entry. Although
they are indeed fragmented, I would also say that over time they have started to look slightly
mature. Substitutes: In addition, they have to deal with the threat of substitutes and private label
brands. Newell tends to focus more on quality than price. Due to a declining economy, other
competitors are starting to make the same or similar product for less, meaning a decrease in
market share and profit margin. Newell has also become very dependent on bigger... Show more

By acquiring companies that could add value, and aligning them with Newell s systems and
processes, they could effectively decrease competition while increasing revenue. Newellization
primarily focused on three categories of standards, which were an integrated financial system, a
sales and order processing system and a flexible manufacturing system. The best example of the
Newellization process was their purchase of Anchor Hocking. Newell immediately saw ways to
increase company profit share and install discipline. By letting go of high level executives,
cutting 1,400 jobs, closing 25 retail locations and one factory, Newell eliminated excess
inventory by 40%, saved $32.4 million, and an additional $12 million on administrative support.
Rarity: All new companies that Newell acquired had to adapt to their Newellization strategy.
Newell would bring in, their own, executives and managers to help expedite this process in order
to be more proficient and profitable. This process had to be speedy because there was no room
for error, usually 6 to 18 months. To help limit the threat of substitutes, Newell focused on #1 and
#2 companies in markets that made brand name products sold year round. The goal was efficiency
over pricing power. Newell believed that powerful customers could give them leverage with
suppliers. They also relied in market rationalization, meaning they were not scared

Hunger In The Hunger Game
In the novel Hunger Game, author Suzanne Collins narrates a girl name Katniss Everdeen who
voluntarily replaces her younger sister, Prime, to be one of the tribute to participate in the hunger
game. She is the family s backbone after her father died in a mining accident. The district only
gave them a small compensation but it s not enough to support her family s living. Soon, they run
out of money and suffer from hunger. They live in the District 12 where it s a poor and food
shortage region. People often suffer from hunger and Katniss is of no exception. In one section
of the story, Katniss could not trade old baby clothes for food or find food from trash bins. She
passes by a bakery one day and she is extremely hungry:
When I passed the baker s, the smell of fresh bread was so overwhelming I felt dizzy. The ovens
were in the back, and a golden glow spilled out the open kitchen door. I stood mesmerized by the
heart and the luscious scent until the rain interfered, running its icy fingers down my back, forcing
me back to life. (Collins 29)
Katniss is immersed in the smell of the aromas of bread, and although she is close to the bakery,
she is not able to eat the fresh bread. For her, the fresh bread will only be for viewing sensation
rather than tasting sensation, and I have a similar experience as Katniss who often suffer
hunger. As I read this section of Katniss, it reminds me that I was an acrobatic school in my 13
years old. Everyone attending the school had extraordinarily strict dietary restriction. Chocolates,
chips, breads, cookies are snacks that were prohibited. Rice and noodle were limited to only a
small amount for eating, because they are high carb and high starch food. We were only allowed

The Reason Behind Discovery
The Reason behind Discovery Once I found this painting my initial reaction was that I wanted
to be able to see his face and was extremely bothered by the apple in the front. As I continued to
look at the photo I soon realized that I could actually see both of his eyes to the slightest extent.
After noticing this I was somewhat relieved that I could at lease see a small amount. The piece
of the painting that drew most of my attention simply because I felt that it was completely out of
place. Therefore by it being there I was both confused and upset at the same time. At this point I
had not reading the meaning behind why the author had decided to place it there and therefore
was confused and began to think that I was possibly looking at a modified painting of some
kind. The man can be seen as a problem and the apple can be seen as a distraction from the
problem. There are several techniques that were utilized the artists in order to cause the viewer to
react in specific ways. One of these is by making the painting completely balanced by placing the
man and the apple in the direct center of the painting. Not only did the artist place the object in the
center but he also made the rest of the objects in the painting significantly lighter. By doing this it
causes the viewer to put more focus onto the man and the apple. In terms of dominance, the artist
made it so the man is the largest object inside of the photo and therefore most of the attention goes
towards him. The

As I walked into the first room at the Museum of Photographic Arts, Jim Naughten s Animal
Kingdom photographs drew my immediate attention because I am currently taking a lab course

Good Opinion On Socrates
To be as good as one can be without the fear of having to face death is what Socrates strongly
wants Athenians to do. You are wrong, sir, if you think that a man who is any good at all should
take into account the risk of life or death... whether he is acting like a good or a bad man.
(Apology, 28B). What Socrates is trying to say to the Athenians is that a good man should only
focus on his actions, to make sure that what he is doing is the right and not wrong, and whether
what he is doing will make him a better person. It is not about what everyone else wants us to do
and follow but to live a good and moral life. That if a person examines whether what he is doing
is right death should not even cross his mind. If someone is being put on trial or tried to death
he should not be ashamed or embarrassed and the reason for that is because he is following
what he believes is right and not wrong. Socrates mentions in his Apology that if someone were
ever to ask him if he felt ashamed of living the life that he was living and he was being put to
trial and tried for death for it he would say that he is wrong for having asked such a question like
that. Wrong because if he is living and knows he is living a pious life then there is nothing to be
ashamed of, he is living the way that the gods want him and everyone else to live and that is by
having self knowledge. It would then be wrong if one started living a life of falseness and
wickedness by doing things that would get him to avoid death. Socrates also talks about how a
good man should never assume he knows something when in reality he does not. I differ from
the majority of men... I do know, however, that it is wicked and shameful to do wrong. To
disobey one s superior, be he god or man. I shall never fear or avoid things of which I do not
know, whether they may not be good rather than things that I know to be bad. (Apology, 29B C).
Socrates mentions that if there is one thing that he differs from everyone else is that he
acknowledges that he does not know about the underworld and there is no reason to fear. Whereas,
Athenians claim that it is the greatest of all evils and they would do anything to avoid it. What
Socrates then has that the Athenians do not have is

Flipping Houses Avoid
Flip to Flop: 5 Mistakes to Avoid
Flipping houses can be an extremely rewarding and profitable task, but there are many pitfalls
along the way that can derail even the most determined flipper.
Here are 5 of the most common mistakes that turn a potential flip into a colossal flop:
1.Lack of Money Real estate can be a very expensive proposition. It begins with the cost of
acquisition, adds in the cost of repair and remodel, and takes into consideration the amount of time
needed to resell and recoup costs. There are also capital gains taxes after the sale. One of the
biggest mistakes a flipper can make is to underestimate the amount of money the project will take to
get off the ground.
2.Lack of Time Renovating and selling houses can take

Child Soldiers Are Victims Of War
Bombings, gun fire, and screams, these are the major aspects of life children face in war waging
countries. Thrust into a war based on corporate greed, political interest, or religious disagreement,
these hopeful and helpless children face a dreadful future as many of them are brutally hurt,
physically and emotionally. Many times, these children witness their loved ones being murdered
right in front of their eyes. Though many would argue that soldiers are the victims of war, there are
a few who believe that helpless bystanders, meaning children, are the true victims of war. War
blackens the bright future these children would have had, leaving them mortally wounded, making
them child soldiers, and leaving them hungry. What causes war?... Show more content on

Whether you are businessman or a construction worker, war has some far reaching effect on us.
Though the evidence provided above is substantial enough to sway even you, the reader, to
believe children are the true victims of war, there are many who think soldiers are the victims.
Their logic can be backed up by many things. Modern media rarely covers anything else besides
soldiers fighting in war. News reporters capture soldiers, strapped up in military equipment,
fighting for their nation. Soldiers do directly take part in wars and they do get directly impacted
by it. They are the ones who are fighting and dying for their country. Soldiers look out for each
other in the battlefield. Many people argue that soldiers are the primary victims of war because
they suffer physically and psychologically after the war. There are many wounded veterans who
have received their physical scars from serving in the army. Soldiers will often face opposing
fire and bomb explosions. Those who are lucky make it out of war alive, those who aren t so
lucky die or get wounded. According to Robert Naiman, more than 500,000 Iraq and
Afghanistan veterans were treated for wounds and disabilities (Naiman, 2010). Half a million
veterans now face difficulties dealing with day to day tasks such as walking, driving, or working.
These former soldiers would now find it difficult to provide for their family and purchase their
bread and butter because they are now limited to the jobs they can perform. Along with physical
disabilities comes mental illnesses, such as PTSD. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder arises from
experiences from shocking or traumatic events. Those diagnosed with PTSD, are mostly soldiers
who have experienced unspeakable events during their service. This disorder causes diagnosed
people to experience enormous amounts of stress and may be frightened in some situations. PTSD
is a long term illness that has no permanent treatment.

The Research On Academic Performance
Abstract
The purpose was to determine what metacognition was and how it affects us. The two hypothesis of
this paper were: uncertainty about academic performance is negatively related to the overall
metacognitive awareness inventory (MAI) score and that the MAI factor Knowledge about
cognition is more highly related to uncertainty about academic performance when compared to the
MAI factor Regulation of cognition. Students in a first year undergraduate psychology class filled
out surveys to determine their MAI scores and rated their uncertainty of academic performance on
a scale from 0 100. The results for this experiment ended up supporting the hypothesis in that
uncertainty was negatively related to the overall MAI score and the MAI factor knowledge of
cognition was more highly related to uncertainty. This means that most of the participants tended to
perform better when they were aware of metacognition.
Introduction
What is metacognition? The common definition is ones ability to reflect upon, understand, control
one s learning (Schraw Dennison, 1994), refer to knowledge about cognition (Schraw, 2009) and
recognize successful cognitive processing (Fleming, 2014). Metacognition can be broken down into
two categories, knowledge about cognition and regulation of cognition (Schraw Dennison, 1994).
Metacognition can be measured in many different ways. A few measures that are used are absolute
accuracy, relative accuracy, bias, scatter, and

II.Respect your parents and elders
Respect is the greatest gift children can give to their parents and elders. It is not just a
responsibility to give respect but it is a moral value and duty. In order to get some respect we should
give respect, and parents and elders are the ones who deserve most of our respect as they help us in
making our life meaningful.
Together with many lessons in life, learning to respect people is also one the important lesson we
learn as kids.
Respect can be given in many ways. There is no particular way to respect elders and parents. But

OXYGEN DEMAND (BOD)*#(1) 5220 CHEMICAL OXYGEN DEMAND (COD)*#(2) 5220 A.
Introduction Chemical oxygen demand (COD) is defined as the amount of a specified oxidant that
reacts with the sample under controlled conditions. The quantity of oxidant consumed is expressed
in terms of its oxygen equivalence. Because of its unique chemical properties, the dichromate ion
(Cr2O72 ) is the specified oxidant in Methods Section 5220B, Section 5220C, and Section 5220D;
it is reduced to the chromic ion (Cr3+) in these tests. Both organic and inorganic components of a

Do not use the test for samples containing more than 2000 mg Cl /L. Techniques designed to
measure COD in saline waters are available.1,2 Halide interferences may be removed by
precipitation with silver ion and filtration before digestion. This approach may introduce
substantial errors due to the occlusion and carrydown of COD matter from heterogenous samples.
Ammonia and its derivatives, in the waste or generated from nitrogen containing organic matter,
are not oxidized. However, elemental chlorine reacts with these compounds. Hence, corrections
for chloride interferences are difficult. Nitrite (NO2 ) exerts a COD of 1.1 mg O2/mg NO2 N.
Because concentrations of NO2 in waters rarely exceed 1 or 2 mg NO2 N/L, the interference is
considered insignificant and usually is ignored. To eliminate a significant interference due to NO2 ,
add 10 mg sulfamic acid for each mg NO2 N present in the sample volume used; add the same
amount of sulfamic acid to the reflux vessel containing the distilled water blank. Reduced inorganic
species such as ferrous iron, sulfide, manganous manganese, etc., are oxidized quantitatively under
the test conditions. For samples containing significant levels of these species, stoichiometric
oxidation can be assumed from known initial concentration of the interfering species and

process in which judges and lawyers are selected within the state, and how judges and lawyers are

that they may need assist with because they may not be as experienced. However, Nicolas II
refused to take on those actions or even display those characteristics. The two factors of the
decline of the empire: resistance from the people and incompetent rulers pretty much go hand and
hand; when there is not a competent ruler the people will not be happy. Being a ruler means that
people look up to you to make changes and address issues as they come. As individuals began to
grow weary of Nicolas ability to rule them, they started to protest and

Code Of Conduct Of King Arthur And The Knights Of The...
They were not allowed to lay down arms and had to defend the defenseless. Along with seeking
wonders, they were not allowed to hurt anyone and had to refrain from attacking each other. They
had to fight for and give their lives for their country. They could not break faith and had to
practice religion with heroic effort. They had to be honest about their experience whether it be
honorable or disgraceful and they had to be hospitable to everyone by ability. The code of the
knights of the Round Tablewas known as Pentecostal oath and was used to swear in every Knight
every year at the time of Pentecost. The roundtable was also known as the order of chivalry in king
Arthurs court. After some time, every knight considered among the best and the bravest sought
admission to the most noble order of the Round Table. (Grosset ,Dunlap Maolry,King Arthur
and the
Knights of the Round Table, pg. 85 90,1919) The establishing of the Knights of the Round Table
teaches us that we need to follow basic code of conduct. This basic code of conduct is to treat each
other with respect, be courageous, have honor in our actions, do not hurt anyone, stand up for what
is right and be honest. Because the Knight of the round table followed this code Camelot became
known for how chivalrous, safe, and good it was. As a result, common people of the land placed
immense trust and faith in the knights which led them to try and emulate it among themselves to
live up to their heroes expectations.

For that reason, he set out to diversify the company s operations in the early 1970 s. Foster s
concept was that these diverse business groups would provide greater growth than Colgate could

putting excessive demands for profitability on the traditional businesses.
The Keith Crane Era (1979 1984). When Crane succeeded Foster as CEO in 1979, as he analyzed
the overall business and concluded that Colgate had become a company that was losing momentum

operated by putting increasing profit demands on its base businesses, especially outside the United

Emotional Labor As A Workplace
While labor can and is often seen as work that is done physically, it is also seen as an act which
necessitates using mind and soul. Depending on the area in which an individual works, it can lean
towards using all three body, mind, and soul to be successful. It is at this point that Emotional
Labor (Hochschild, 1983) begins to take its place in the work environment. Emotional Laboris using
self to perform work where an employee creates a pleasant atmosphere by giving good customer
service. The ability to use self as a means to perform better on the job may have larger
implications than we know of. This paper will look at different ideas which contribute to Emotional

For instance, Jason Felix, a Human Resources Technician with College of the Desert describes
his thought after having dealt with a rude applicant over the phone, while physical labor is no
walk in the park, dealing with people can leave you just as drained, if not more, and it can take
longer to regain your emotional stability (J. Felix, personal communication, January 30, 2017).
After having been cut off, yelled at, and harangued, Jason had to still go about his day as if
nothing happened. The use of good customer service in the face of disrespect is reminiscent Karl
Marx writes, the realization of labor appears as a loss of reality for the worker . It is not the real
person who is being polite but the person created for the work environment that is required to be
polite. With this in mind, having to create an atmosphere of happiness when one isn t feeling happy
could result in the depersonalization of happiness with the self (Herpertz et al, 2016). The
problem then turns into the employee not knowing whether they are actually happy or is only so
used to being happy. How does the employee then adjust to the real world outside of the
workplace? In A Managed Heart by Arlie Russell Hochschild, she speaks with airline attendants
who must always create a positive space for passengers, their smiles being of most value to the

A Gold Lustreware Maiolica Bowl by Galileo Chini
(fig.1) Maiolica bowl polychrome gold, grey and bronze colour. Circa 1902 1904.Galileo Chini. L
Arte della Ceramica Fontebuoni, Florence. Museo Galileo Chini, Borgo San lorenzo.
The gold lustreware bowl by Galileo Chini is an object which could seem on first glance devoid
of special significance: just a beautiful decorative object enjoyed at face value. (Fig.1) But in the
seeming void I saw a repository of layered meanings which I attempted to interpret by examining
the artistic cross cultural influences in Florence in the late nineteenth century. And to address the
question of why the Mediaeval Hispano Moresque gold lustreware and the design motifs of the
Gothic Revivalist repertoires were found on this bowl. I examine why Chini became inspired to use
these designs and what they may have meant to him.
In this essay I will examine why there was a taste for lustreware in the Florentine workshops and
how their clients saw themselves reflected by these golden objects. ... Show more content on

The ceramics produced by Galileo Chini show a large repertoire of historical motifs and cross
cultural influences which blended to create a unique creation and distinctly Stile Liberty. From my
own observations of his artistic output I would suggest that Chini did not imitate Renaissance
maiolica to attract a certain erudite clientele, as in the case of the Cantagalli workshop, but
developed his own voice adapting design motifs from the past and projecting them into a new
language which is demonstrably modern

them, and many loved it through the 2 seasons it lasted. In the year 2002, Cowell created yet
another show called American Idol. This show would air in the United States, and have the same
rules as Pop Idol. The show would hold auditions for people who believed they had a talent in
singing. There were 3 judges, Cowell being one. Then, the people who were at home watching,
would send in their vote, and that would decide who won the show. The only difference was
that, the overall winner would get 1,000,000 dollars toward a record deal, instead of only having
one option, like pop idol. Also, the finalist who did not win, would also get a record deal, but this
was only for the runner up. American has been around for 14 years, and still going strong. The

Brucellosis Research Paper
Brucellosis is an extremely important disease around the world, especially in developing countries
such as Iran (22) where it is endemic in certain region (23, 24). Although doxycycline is one of the
most useful drugs for brucellosis treatment, gastrointestinal adverse effects such as nausea and
vomiting cause intolerance. Management of these symptoms is possible medically, and with
various impact degrees such as prokinetic (metoclopramide) and 5 HT3 receptor antagonist
(ondansetron) (23). Although metoclopramide is less expensive, it has more side effects than
ginger. It seems that ginger could be a safe, effective, and inexpensive solution for treating nausea
and vomiting and may well be considered as the first line modality for management of nausea and
vomiting. In comparative studies of ginger and metoclopramide no significant difference was found

they received ginger compared with 14.8% women receiving placebo, and 14.8% were unable to

the ginger group (31). Nausea is a complicated symptom to research and effectively treat because it
is a subjective and unobservable phenomenon. In the present study, visual analog scales were used
to quantify the change in the severity of nausea, because these scales gave an objective measure of
the severity of nausea. Moreover, the scales have construct validity and are

Homelessness Praxis Lab Report
Homelessness has proven to be a stubborn community issue in Utah, so much so that it was listed
as one of Utah s top ten priorities by the Utah Foundation. This is due to the fact that, according to
the Department of Workforce Services, nearly 15,000 people are considered homeless (continuous
homeless for one year) as of 2015. The homeless population, in addition to having no stable home,
faces a range of challenges in both their health and social situations. These issues include substance
abuse, mental health disorders, criminal records, and extended periods of unemployment. Despite
the state providing funding for housing, particularly with House Bill 436 of 2016, these issues will
certainly impede the ability of these people to maintain stable housing. For the purpose of the
Praxis Lab idea, the focus of this Praxis Lab description will be on the substance abuse problems
and mental health disorders the homeless experience. The lab would incorporate students majoring

They have set up production and sourcing bases with thorough research of the jewellery crafts of
India. Their factory located at Hosur, Tamil Nadu (India) spreads over 135,000 sq ft
(12,500 m2). Tanishq was launched as a range of jewellery and jewellery watches meant for the
European American markets, but later on shifted focus on Indian markets to tap the domestic
opportunity too.
They spread awareness to the public about alleged impurity in Gold .
Tanishq introduced innovations like Karatmeter, the only nondestructive means to check the purity
of gold and machine made jewellery. In India, Tanishq has country wide presence. In November

Industry watchers were extremely skeptical of Tanishq and doubts were being cast over its
prospects. Tanishq began by offering jewellery in the 18 carat gold range, with designs borrowed
heavily from contemporary European brands. The company justified its decision saying that it
wanted to be
different from the traditional Indian offerings.
Tanishq was the largest overseas chain in US with 1,200 outlets. In the year 2000, exports
contributed 10% to the company s turnover. The story of Tanishq, once written off as a losing
proposition, making a remarkable turnaround was an example of a company single mindedly
working to make its own mark in the tradition bound Indian jewellery market. Behind this success
was, of course, a well planned and wellexecuted marketing plan.

difficult because I have an injured left hand. There is the possibility of a storm, making the trail

Threat Vectors For Cyber Security
Threat Vectors
There are three main areas identified as threat vectors for cyber security in relation to CIP: IT
networks, insider threats, and equipment and software. Normally, ICS operate on an internal
network, called OT (Operational Technology). Occasionally, this isolated network requires a
connection to the organization s corporate network (IT) for routine operation and management.
As displayed in the Ukraine blackout, cyber threats infiltrate an organization s IT systems in
order to access ICS networks on the OT network. The methods used to achieve access are often
not complex procedures and can be achieved using a wide array of methods, such as spear
phishing, malicious URLs, drive by attacks (p. 1). Upon infiltration of an IT network, the threat
searches for a lapse in the cyber security program in order to access the OT networks that regulate
CI.
The second threat vector, insider threat, entails IT networks and OT networks. This threat can arise
from negligence or sabotage by members within the organization (intentional or accidental). The
structure of an OT network is normally not as complex as an IT network and more susceptible to
insider threats. As stated by Epstein (2016), OT networks are usually flat with little or no
segmentation, and SCADA systems have outdated software versions that go unpatched regularly (p.
2). Thus, an unsuspecting employee that disregards protocol by disabling/weakening security
settings or connects a private network to the

Financial Aspect Of Climate Risk Management
Financial Aspect of Climate Risk Management
Climate change is a lethal and destructive force. In the recent past major climatic events like floods,
tsunamis etc. have led to substantial destruction of wealth. Such events have highlighted the need
of mechanisms for risk sharing of the losses and restoring the lost human and infrastructural capital.
The climate change agreement declared on December 12, 2015 was one of the highlights of the
year. It showcased the resolve of various nations in fighting climate change. It was a welcome
change from Copenhagen.
Climate Change and its Effects
The major target for financial sector is to provide jobs, economic welfare to the thriving population,
without damaging environmental balance. It is the role of the financial sector to help in managing
climate risk and help society recuperate from it. Any climate risk directly or indirectly affects the
financial sector in a huge manner. Whenever a climatic catastrophe occurs, the number of insurance
claims rise exponentially. Global Insurance claims have risen from 5.1 billion US dollars annually
in the 1970 s to 27 billion US dollars per year in 2014.

The aim of this report is to investigate how cultural diversity is represented on free to air TV and
compare this with survey results and research on Australian society.
Procedure
Websites like the Australian Bureau of Statistics were used to find information about Australian
society. A survey was conducted with 20 people aged 18 to 45+ to find out if cultural diversity is
represented well on Australian free to air TV. Approximately 10 hours of Australian programs and

aired were white, 9% were Asian, 5% were African, 3 % were Indian and 2% were Middle Eastern,
Latino and Pacific Islander and less than 1% were Aboriginal. According to Aaron Rigby the
director of Ebiquity Asia Pacific We have generations of Australians today who do not identify with
the White Australian stereotype featured in over three quarters of television commercials . Despite
most advertisements not showing an accurate representation of cultural diversity in Australia, some
advertisements display it well. A television commercial that displays cultural diversity well is

Indian, Polynesian, Asian, Caucasian, Aboriginal and African. All individuals from these diverse
cultures come together to enjoy football, this shows that Australia is a welcoming and accepting

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... EasyCar s approach, built on the easyJet model, was quite different than the approaches used by the traditional rental car companies. EasyCar rented only a single vehicle type at each location it operated, while most of its competitors rented a wide variety of vehicle types. EasyCar did not work with agents over 95% of its bookings were made through the company s website, with the remainder of bookings being made directly through the company s phone reservation system (at a cost to the customer of 0.95 [euro]/minute for the call). Most rental car companies worked with a variety of intermediaries, with their own websites accounting for less than 10% of their total booking (Click to fly, 2004). And like easyJet, easyCar managed prices in an attempt to have its fleet rented out 100% of the time and to generate the maximum revenue from its rentals. EasyCar s information system constantly evaluated projected demand and expected utilization at each site, and adjusted price accordingly. Because of its aggressive pricing, easyCar was able to achieve a fleet utilization rate in excess of 90% (Simpkins, 2002) much higher than other major rental car companies. Industry leader Avis Europe, for example, had a fleet utilization rate of 68% (Avis Europe plc, 2002). It was January, 2003. EasyCar had broken even in the fiscal year ending September 2002 (Simpkins, 2002) on revenues of 27 million [pounds sterling] (Marketing, 2003). This represented a significant improvement ... • 3. The Pros And Cons Of The Two Party System John Adams, one of the founding fathers, wrote that There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution ( Quote by John Adams ). The Two Party system has been around since the start of America. The Two Party system is a system that has two parties that the government, or America in this case, has that lead the government or America. At the current time, the two parties are the Republican and Democrat parties. It was created with the idea that everyone can be represented within either of the parties. Even though it does create some representation of the people, the two party system does not create an equal policy in society because it does not allow people to get far if they are not within either of the two parties, does not allow the idea of having more than two parties, and because it doesn t represent everyone. First, the two party system does not create an equal policy in society because it does not allow people to get far if they are not within either of the two parties. The idea of the winner take all electoral system is the hostile terrain for third parties because the odds are in favor of the bigger parties (Conray). The bigger parties over the years seem to have the upper hand within the government, and especially within the elections. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis Of Nigel Latta Blows Stuff Up Essay Nigel Latta Blows Stuff Up is a New Zealand based, science themed television show. Each episode is packed with dramatic and entertaining experiments, testing the fundamentals of science. This essay will look at what the production manager s duties for this series involve, what major issues and risk factors the production manager would needto address, and it will suggest course of action that may solve these problems. These factors will be discussed for pre production, during production and postproduction. This essay will also focus on examples from episode 1 of the series. Pre production The production manager is extremely important in the pre production phase as the work they do in this time helps to assure that the production and post production run smoothly (Stradling, 2010). The production manager in this stage is in charge of all the planning around the physical aspects of the production including budgeting, scheduling, personal, locations, along with other aspects. This is all taken care of before the series is scheduled to start shooting. Before any of these jobs are undertaken, it is important for the production manager to understand what the producer wants, what the investor NZ on Air wants, and what the production company Razor Film wants in order to fulfill each of their requirements in the show. • 5. The New York City As A Major Obstacle For Receiving... Introduction New York City is composed of some of the world s most unique and eccentric neighborhoods the world has ever seen. Amongst these neighborhoods, one can expect to find Bushwick (Community District 4) and Williamsburg (Community District 1), nestled in in the northern tip of Brooklyn borough. The earliest colonizers included the Dutch, French, Scandinavians, and English farmers. Today, however, the spectrum of racial distribution has changed drastically in which the top ethnic groups include Puerto Rican, African American, Dominican, Ecuadorian, and Mexican, Polish, Italian, and Hasidic Jews. Both neighborhoods have an abnormally large rate of preventable illness and death issues. Reasons as to why these districts are facing such high illness rates could be because of language barriers, economic conditions, and lack of a primary care physician monitoring health. Since the majority of individuals living in Bushwick and Williamsburg are of foreign descent, it is only feasible to hypothesize that language barriers pose as a major obstacle for receiving quality health care. Many of the residents may not know how to read and understand English, therefore, leading to compromised delivery of care. Another justification for the residents of Community Board 1 and 4 to not obtain quality care is because of economic conditions. Individuals living in Bushwick are known to have a lower median household income when compared to Brooklynas a whole: the difference being $9,000 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. A Article About Playground Video Games Few months ago, I have read a Korean article about playground. That article showed statistics of how many small towns are closing their playgrounds. The reason they close the playgrounds are, there are no kids anymore. In these days, children are not really spending time with friends to play outside. Rather, they go into each other s house for playing computer games or video games. However, when I was young, I always went outside in the afternoon to hangout with my friends until my parents spend hours to find me. How about you? Haven t you played outside until you cannot recognize your friends face? For me, while I was playing with my friends, I could not feel tiredness or starve. I rather choose playing with my friends than eating delicious foods. Everyone experienced that? You remember? Last week, we had read and seen the Jesus with feeding 5,000 people with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. And today s scripture is extention of the last week s scripture. Today s scripture starts with crowds who came over to Capernaum to find Jesus. It is not really long distance, between the place where Jesus performed the miracle of feeding five thousands and Capernaum are only 6 miles apart. However, they followed Jesus with the purpose of making Christ the King. If you remember last week s scripture, we had seen Jesus who went away from the crowds because they wanted to make Jesus King. Jesus was the promised king who came on to the earth to save everyone from eternal death. However, as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Allie later notices that Mary is selfish keeping the children in an endless loop and would sacrifice anything to keep them from going in peace and is constantly competing with Nick. • 8. A Comparsion of the Bhagavad Gita vs The Gospels Essay Coming from a western culture, it is easy to familiarize with the Gospels over any other written text. In order to get a different perspective on the outlook of life, it is better to compare the Gospels to another written text. A text that is an excellent candidate to stand up next to the Gospels is the Bhagavad Gita (or just the Gita). These two texts can depict similarities and differences between the two cultures presented: Christianityand Hinduism. Keeping an open mind when reading cultural texts is what makes the texts more interesting and informs the reader more clearly. The analysis between one western text and one non western text can really widen the perspective of one person. Due to the fact that Krishnafrom the Gita seems to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the messages is to basically love God more than anything and put him before everything. The verse of Matthew 22:37 states that: Thou shalt love The Lord Thy God with all Thy heart, with all Thy soul, and with all Thy might. Likewise, the Gita says, Keep your mind on me, be my devotee, sacrificing, bow to me you will come to me, I promise, for you are dear to me (Gita 155). Clearly the meanings behind both these quotes are the same but just worded differently. Krishna and Jesus constantly emphasize certain aspects that are similar to the other person s teaching. This goes to show that even though Hinduism and Christianity are two separate cultures with two different scriptural texts and two different religions, the idea and meaning behind both of these religions are closely related. No matter how different the two religions may appear to be, the meaning behind their scriptures is what really defies their religion. Just because the two religions believe in different deities doesn t mean that the deities aren t teaching the exact same thing. It s just that the two religions have different ways of teachings their followers and the teachings are slightly worded differently, so this is where many people fall into the trap by thinking that the meanings from the two scriptures are different and unique. Morality is the principles concerning the distinction between right and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Effect Of Power Quality On A Smooth Industrial Process Abstract As industries expand, utilities become more interconnected and the use of electricity rises, power quality becomes essential to insure a smooth industrial process. The main problem that severely affects the power s quality is the presence of the harmonics, which affects the performance of the system. Some of the problem caused by the harmonics are metal parts overheating, increasing noises in motors, decreasing the efficiency of the motors, etc. some corrective methods can be used to reduce its effect. This new technology has provided us with the opportunity to have a product with a high quality with an increased productivity due to its high efficiency. Today, we can produce products with high quality at less cost than in the last years, but this new technology has given rise to a new problem, which is the need for a clear electric power. This new technology has replaced many of the old ones, bringing many advantages to the user, for example DC AC drives, soft stators, UPS, etc. Since this new technology is rapidly gaining in the modern industries, power systems are expected to provide an ideal sinusoidal waveforms for currents and voltages, ... Ethnic Identity Development Ethnic Identity Development Ethnic identity development of ethnic minorities in the United States has attracted an increasing attention in the adolescent development and college transition literature. A review of literature related to ethnic identity development highlights two major lines of research: 1) identity processes from a developmental perspective and 2) the content and meaning of ethnic identity (Phinney, 1989; Seller et al., 1997; Yip, 2014). Some scholars have specifically examined the developmental progression that individuals go through as they come to understand their ethnic identity and make a commitment (Phinney, 1993). Hoping to address the limitations of the MEIM, Umana Taylor, Yazedjian Bamaca Gomez (2004) created the Ethnic Identity Scale (EIS), which is primarily based on Erikson s and Tajfel s theories. The EIS consists of 46 assessing three distinct components of ethnic identity: exploration, resolution, and affirmation. The exploration subscale assesses the extent to which individuals have explored their ethnic identity; resolution subscale assesses the extent to which individuals have resolved issues related to their ethnic identity, and affirmation refers to the feelings (positive or negative) individuals associated with their ethnic identity. Using the three subscales while being consistent with Marcia s (1980) identity statuses, Umana Taylor et al. (2004) proposed a new categorization scheme which classifies individuals into 8 ethnic identity statuses: diffuse positive, diffuse negative, foreclosed positive, foreclosed negative, moratorium positive, moratorium negative, achieved positive, and achieved negative. For example, diffuse positive characterizes individuals who scored low on both exploration and resolution subscales, but with high affirmation. Unlike the MEIM, the EIS allows researchers to take a dimensional approach to understanding ethnic identity. The score of the subscales are continuous variables, so researchers can examine the relationship among the three with other variables of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Johnson, 2004) Stream Morphology: used to describe the shape of water channels and how they change over time through erosion, vegetation, and the availability and rate of sediment transport. (Hogan Luzi, 2010) Introduction Through the city of Waterloo flows a stream named Laurel Creek that originates from well north of the city, and as it flows into Silver Lake, it provides a home for many organisms both on land and in the water. This stream has been heavily influenced by human construction, and has a number of reservoirs along its path. As the water moves downstream towards more populated areas, it becomes a sink for waste coming from many sources along the way. To monitor the health of Laurel Creek, indicator species such as benthic invertebrates that reside in the water are collected to determine the current status of the stream. The purpose of this study is to determine the best location to collect samples of invertebrates in relationship to the stream morphology of Laurel Creek. The results from this study could then be used on other locations suffering the same problem in Waterloo. These areas can then be observed to determine if a solution can be found to decrease pollution, therefore decreasing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the past crimes like fraud, embezzlement, income tax evasion, and abuse of political and legal powers were treated by authorities more than typical crimes. Historically, most white collar criminals were simply fired or fined. Rarely were jail sentences imposed let alone served. This leniency stemmed from the perception that a high status individual implicated in criminal activity was sufficiently punished by the loss of their social stature and partly from the fact that most white collar crimes are so called victimless offenses. Only recently has this attitude begun to change. White collar crime has become an increasing problem in the latter part of the twentieth century. By letting go of high level executives, cutting 1,400 jobs, closing 25 retail locations and one factory, Newell eliminated excess inventory by 40%, saved $32.4 million, and an additional $12 million on administrative support. The man can be seen as a problem and the apple can be seen as a distraction from the problem. There are several techniques that were utilized the artists in order to cause the viewer to react in specific ways. One of these is by making the painting completely balanced by placing the man and the apple in the direct center of the painting. Not only did the artist place the object in the center but he also made the rest of the objects in the painting significantly lighter. By doing this it causes the viewer to put more focus onto the man and the apple. • 24. Good Opinion On Socrates To be as good as one can be without the fear of having to face death is what Socrates strongly wants Athenians to do. You are wrong, sir, if you think that a man who is any good at all should take into account the risk of life or death... whether he is acting like a good or a bad man. (Apology, 28B). What Socrates is trying to say to the Athenians is that a good man should only focus on his actions, to make sure that what he is doing is the right and not wrong, and whether what he is doing will make him a better person. It is not about what everyone else wants us to do and follow but to live a good and moral life. That if a person examines whether what he is doing is right death should not even cross his mind. If someone is being put on trial or tried to death he should not be ashamed or embarrassed and the reason for that is because he is following what he believes is right and not wrong. Socrates mentions in his Apology that if someone were ever to ask him if he felt ashamed of living the life that he was living and he was being put to trial and tried for death for it he would say that he is wrong for having asked such a question like that. Wrong because if he is living and knows he is living a pious life then there is nothing to be ashamed of, he is living the way that the gods want him and everyone else to live and that is by having self knowledge. It would then be wrong if one started living a life of falseness and wickedness by doing things that would get him to avoid death. Socrates also talks about how a good man should never assume he knows something when in reality he does not. I differ from the majority of men... I do know, however, that it is wicked and shameful to do wrong. To disobey one s superior, be he god or man. I shall never fear or avoid things of which I do not know, whether they may not be good rather than things that I know to be bad. (Apology, 29B C). Socrates mentions that if there is one thing that he differs from everyone else is that he acknowledges that he does not know about the underworld and there is no reason to fear. Whereas, Athenians claim that it is the greatest of all evils and they would do anything to avoid it. What Socrates then has that the Athenians do not have is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Their logic can be backed up by many things. Modern media rarely covers anything else besides soldiers fighting in war. News reporters capture soldiers, strapped up in military equipment, fighting for their nation. Soldiers do directly take part in wars and they do get directly impacted by it. They are the ones who are fighting and dying for their country. Soldiers look out for each other in the battlefield. Many people argue that soldiers are the primary victims of war because they suffer physically and psychologically after the war. There are many wounded veterans who have received their physical scars from serving in the army. Soldiers will often face opposing fire and bomb explosions. Those who are lucky make it out of war alive, those who aren t so lucky die or get wounded. According to Robert Naiman, more than 500,000 Iraq and Afghanistan veterans were treated for wounds and disabilities (Naiman, 2010). Half a million veterans now face difficulties dealing with day to day tasks such as walking, driving, or working. The two hypothesis of this paper were: uncertainty about academic performance is negatively related to the overall metacognitive awareness inventory (MAI) score and that the MAI factor Knowledge about cognition is more highly related to uncertainty about academic performance when compared to the MAI factor Regulation of cognition. Students in a first year undergraduate psychology class filled out surveys to determine their MAI scores and rated their uncertainty of academic performance on a scale from 0 100. The results for this experiment ended up supporting the hypothesis in that uncertainty was negatively related to the overall MAI score and the MAI factor knowledge of cognition was more highly related to uncertainty. This means that most of the participants tended to perform better when they were aware of metacognition. Introduction What is metacognition? The common definition is ones ability to reflect upon, understand, control one s learning (Schraw Dennison, 1994), refer to knowledge about cognition (Schraw, 2009) and recognize successful cognitive processing (Fleming, 2014). Introduction Chemical oxygen demand (COD) is defined as the amount of a specified oxidant that reacts with the sample under controlled conditions. The quantity of oxidant consumed is expressed in terms of its oxygen equivalence. Because of its unique chemical properties, the dichromate ion (Cr2O72 ) is the specified oxidant in Methods Section 5220B, Section 5220C, and Section 5220D; it is reduced to the chromic ion (Cr3+) in these tests. Do not use the test for samples containing more than 2000 mg Cl /L. Techniques designed to measure COD in saline waters are available.1,2 Halide interferences may be removed by precipitation with silver ion and filtration before digestion. This approach may introduce substantial errors due to the occlusion and carrydown of COD matter from heterogenous samples. Ammonia and its derivatives, in the waste or generated from nitrogen containing organic matter, are not oxidized. However, elemental chlorine reacts with these compounds. Hence, corrections for chloride interferences are difficult. Nitrite (NO2 ) exerts a COD of 1.1 mg O2/mg NO2 N. Because concentrations of NO2 in waters rarely exceed 1 or 2 mg NO2 N/L, the interference is considered insignificant and usually is ignored. To eliminate a significant interference due to NO2 , add 10 mg sulfamic acid for each mg NO2 N present in the sample volume used; add the same amount of sulfamic acid to the reflux vessel containing the distilled water blank. Reduced inorganic species such as ferrous iron, sulfide, manganous manganese, etc., are oxidized quantitatively under the test conditions. Anyone can become a judge, one does not necessarily have to attend school to do so. These are just a few myths about our judicial system, some of which that hold some truth, and others that are inaccurate. In this paper, I will provide history about the type of court structure in Illinois, the process in which judges and lawyers are selected within the state, and how judges and lawyers are disciplined. To begin, Illinois was admitted to statehood in 1818. • 51. Threat Vectors For Cyber Security Threat Vectors There are three main areas identified as threat vectors for cyber security in relation to CIP: IT networks, insider threats, and equipment and software. Normally, ICS operate on an internal network, called OT (Operational Technology). Occasionally, this isolated network requires a connection to the organization s corporate network (IT) for routine operation and management. As displayed in the Ukraine blackout, cyber threats infiltrate an organization s IT systems in order to access ICS networks on the OT network. The methods used to achieve access are often not complex procedures and can be achieved using a wide array of methods, such as spear phishing, malicious URLs, drive by attacks (p. 1). Upon infiltration of an IT network, the threat searches for a lapse in the cyber security program in order to access the OT networks that regulate CI. The second threat vector, insider threat, entails IT networks and OT networks. This threat can arise from negligence or sabotage by members within the organization (intentional or accidental). The structure of an OT network is normally not as complex as an IT network and more susceptible to insider threats. As stated by Epstein (2016), OT networks are usually flat with little or no segmentation, and SCADA systems have outdated software versions that go unpatched regularly (p. 2). Thus, an unsuspecting employee that disregards protocol by disabling/weakening security settings or connects a private network to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
