Persuasive Essay On Art Theft
Research Paper The Nazis hid, destroyed and plundered thousands of pieces of art and literature; the
number is so high that experts cannot accurately estimate the amount of art stolen. The art theft,
instigated by the Nazis under Hitler s order, began six years before the second World War had even
started ( Documents Region, City, and Countryside 1). In response to the growing number of artwork
being stolen and destroyed, special commissions were formed to protect the art. The Nazis plundering
and destroying art was beneficial in the way that it united countless people from all over the world
against the destruction of the priceless art, which led to the creation of international art protection
programs and gained funding and support from the public and the government. Adolf Hitler, before he
began the notorious German regime in 1919, had aspirations to be an artist. He applied to the Vienna
Academy of Fine Arts in 1907; his aspirations to become an artist did not become a reality as his
application to the art school was rejected. This motivated his hatred towards degenerate art, a type of
art that was described as modern; Hitler was known to describe it as Jewish or communist in nature.
Hitler pushed the classical art ideal, in which the only type of art allowed to be showcased in museums
were classical pieces from artists such as Phidias and Picasso (Campbell 1). As the German regime
began to gain wealth and power, the Nazis were ordered to begin to contact art

Karl Marx View On Capitalism
Karl Marx was a philosopher who was engaged in economic politics, sociology, and radical politics.
Marx saw the world as two different entities. He saw it as a scuffle between the bourgeoisie and the
proletariats. This is what divided the capitalist society. Marx believed everyone works in some shape,
form, and fashion. The bourgeoisie were the individuals that held the capital and the proletariats were
the wage laborers. The social aspect would then come in to play. Marx would then try to figure out
how the bourgeoise and the proletariats could thrive in a world that had the poverty but there was
plenty of wealth. Meaning how would the individuals who fell under the proletariat state be in a
poverty class. Capitalism would be the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, we learned in Dr. Tatum s class that Rousseau had a major influence on the French and
American Revolutions. Rousseau seems to explore more on freedom rather than radical politics. In my
opinion, Rousseau would evaluate in the state of nature how man would have their freedom. You
could say that men or man is actually free because he is not forced by state or other individuals.
Another way, man is mentally and spiritually free and is not succumbed to wants or needs of society.
Rousseau thought that a worthy government should be or have freedom for everyone in its social
class. From the Discourse of Inequality to the possibility of being well governed: in which every
person being equal to his occupation, no one should be obliged to commit to others the functions with
which he was entrusted: a State, in which all the individuals being well known to one another, neither
the secret machinations of vice, nor the modesty of virtue should be able to escape the notice and
judgment of the public (Discourse of Inequality, Jean Jacque Rousseau) page1. As I understand
Rousseau s beliefs on this matter or what he writes about in the Discourse of Inequality, unless you are
In a state of nature you are not free to do as you please. If you have to have laws or be governed by
man that says you must or will abide by certain standards, then you are not free. Furthermore,
Rousseau also states that human

Hyperboles In The Chilli Fart
Humor can be one of our best survival tools Allen Klein. The Chili Fart which has an anonymous
author is about a man and his unfortunate experience about urgently having to go to the bathroom
while shopping at Walmart. The Chili Fart has a low level of comedy that uses hyperboles and comic
situations to convey the idea that bodily functions can happen at any time, and one should be prepared.
The Chili Fart is an example of low comedy because there are many comedic and unfortunate
situations, which cause many problems for the author. The author adds many comic situations such as,
With each new guffaw an explosive issue burst forth from my nether region ( The Chili Fart ). Adding
misfortunes to the main character is a form of low comedy because there is not much to comprehend
and there is a lot of slapstick humor involved. Adding unfortunate situations like this creates more
humor to the audience because it adds more plot and readers will keep reading to find out what
happens. In addition to comic situations, the anonymous author adds comic characters and ... Show

An example of this would be when the author writes, Guarantee from me...both of your butt cheeks
WILL FALL OFF ( The Chili Fart ). This description adds humor to the situation by extending the
truth. In real life, one s butt will not fall off, but by adding the hyperbole, people will be laughing.
This essay has many more of hyperboles to bring smiles to the faces of readers. Another example was
when the author s loud noises sounded like, someone was robbing the store and firing off a shotgun (
The Chili Fart ). This shows exaggeration about the author s farting. This creates humor because it
shows how loud the the author s noises were and how scary it must have been for the customers. The
hyperboles emphasize the humor in this essay and cause the readers to result in chuckles or

Taking a Look at Emerging Churches
Before plodding full steam ahead, it would behoove us to pin down some important definitions and
qualifiers. First the term emerging church. In 2006, at a lecture at Westminster Seminary, Scot
McKnight proffered that, there is no emerging church ...it is a movement, or a conversation. This
statement, now nearly a decade old was made in an attempt to clarify to his audience that
emerging/emergent ≠ denomination . This clarified distinction still stands; however as time has gone
by, the aforementioned conversation as well as the term emergent itself have experienced some
emergence. Indeed, there are now some churches that would willingly self identify (or allow others to
take the liberty of identifying them) in such a manner. More often than not, however, they would also
(and preferably, I might add) identify themselves as missional . (More on that in a bit). Emerging
churches have several characteristics that make them similar to one another in some respects. But first,
let s discuss what they are not. They are not a theological movement, and therefore do not hold in
common a defined set of doctrinal beliefs or confessional statements. They are, however, theological
in the sense that they are all about having conversation (as they like to put it) about Christian faith,
mission and praxis in the context of the core classical Christian creeds. In true post modernist style,
they are willing to discuss the relevance, veracity and need for

The Theory The Mind Body Problem
When discussing sex, the philosophical concept of hylomorphism is helpful. Philosophers have
created three philosophical theories in attempt to solve the mind body problem. The mind body
problem looks to explain both mental and physical properties and how they work together or if the two
even work together. Mental properties are things that only you can feel directly. In other words, mental
properties are private like experience, emotion and beliefs. Physical properties include: size, weight,
shape and color. This means physical properties are observable to the public. One theory the mind
body problem has created is materialism. Materialist believe we are one entity made of physical
matter, our body. The second theory the mind body problem has brought about is dualism. Dualists
believe as human beings we are two entities, the body and the soul/mind. This theory also believes
that the real me is the soul/mind. Hylomorphists have a problem with dualists because they see human
beings as one entity with two dimensions, material and formal. Human bodies become human bodies
by being engulfed by the soul [Christopher Shield, 4]. Gabriel Marcel talks about hylomorphism in the
respect of primary and secondary reflection. Primary reflections tends to analyze and dissociate
object(s). This puts a gap between the two objects. On the other hand, secondary reflection sees no gap
or separation from the object. Secondary reflection ditches the analysis and so, everything that goes

Birth Control Pills
Opening: It is very common for women to reflect back on the number of pills they have taken in the
attempt to prevent pregnancy when they are diagnosed with infertility. Nevertheless, is the prolong
usage of contraception pills really the culprit that leads to infertility? The article below will give
further information on this matters.

Can Birth Control Pills Cause Infertility?
Thanks to the advancement in medicine and technology, birth control pills have been available to
every person s usage for more than 60 years. Furthermore, it has been proven to be quite effective in
the attempt of not getting pregnant. Nevertheless, it is the truth that there has been any scientific
evidence to point out that birth control pills are indeed the culprit of infertility, when taken in a long
period of time.

After stop using birth control completely, many women will experience the normal occurrence of their
cycles within the period of one to three months. Nevertheless, it is the fact that it could take up to six
months to one year for a healthy woman to be able to get pregnant with the assistance of well timed
intercourse.
That being said, it is clear that the suppression of ovulation by taking birth control pills is totally
reversible, without long standing obstacles in getting pregnant after the discontinue of birth control
therapy. As a matter of fact, it is estimated that up to 80% of couple had succeeded in being able to
conceive after the period of 12 months of unprotected sex.
On the other hand, if a woman at the age of 35 has been trying to get pregnant but unable to do so
after stopped using birth control pills for one year, it may be time to book an appointment at a fertility
doctor. Similarly, if a woman whose age is higher than 35 has received no positive result after trying

Twin Stereotypes
Splitting Up is Never Easy For most people they have the idea of twins being two peas in a pod or
have a bond that makes them as if they were one. The stereotype is very accurate most twins dress,
talk, and look the same. However if you were to meet my sister and I you would never guess we are
twins. Lauren, my sister does not resemble me at all. We have different facial features, hair, and
personality. When we were very little my mom would dress us alike everyday even our pajamas were
the same. I can still remember our mom dressing us for the first day of school. The overalls were a
charcoal grey with our favorite little mouse with a pretty bright red bow in her hair. Along with our
clothes matching we also had to have our hair fixed into

Self Identity Essay
There are numerous factors that either make up or restrain the self identity of a person or an
individual. Culture, in addition to family traditions, is one of the factors that affect the self identity of
an individual. When growing up, the environment around affect the personality, values, as well as,
beliefs of an individual. The environment includes friends, family members, and the people that affect
the life of an individual. So, if the environment is negative, then an individual will have low self
esteem. Moreover, as an individual grows up from being a child, they receive cultural values from the
family or the society around. There are questions raised on matters dealing with identity: Can an
individual choose his or her own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The question is how do these issues affect self identity? It is certain that people could choose what to
do or wear, but what influenced these decisions? Scientific research has it that, beliefs, traits and
emotions can be factors inherited from parents through the DNA. The memory of an event
experienced by a grandparent could be passed through generations. This means that there exist certain
identity traits in the genes of an individual. Images of violence or shows that are less empowering
could have a certain negative amount of influence in self identity. A grown up also faces pressure from
family and community beliefs, which make them put on a different piece of identity from their own. A
theory known as the postmodern theory, explains that identity has become a mask put over an
individual, and not from within. The mask is created as a result of influence from external forces that
dictate what is right and what is wrong, or what is normal and accepted. The postmodern theory goes
ahead to stipulate that, as an individual, one creates a self identity through these external influences.
People do this so as to fit into the environment around them. In the United States, for example, there is
a tendency of consumer culture to influence the way most Americans think and make decisions.
Giddens has described that the lifestyle of an individual

Advantages Of Social Cognitive Learning Model
Bandura s social cognitive learning model is also known as social learning theory. This theory is
mainly described on learning through observation, call observational learning. Observational learning
is the learning and imitating of new behavior through watching the actions of a sample model
displayed.
Bandura started a research with Dorrie and Sheila Ross on children toward inflatable plastic Bobo doll
in 1961. The research is named The Bobo Doll Experiment. 72 children from preschool were selected
and three conditions were applied in this experiment. 24 children were allocated to one of the three
conditions. Besides, half of the children in same condition were been exposed to same sex models, and

Firstly, the learner may shape up the negative attitudes from observing aggressive videos or movies.
For example, a child watching a movie with many violence scenes, the child will act violently in their
daily life as they might thought that the behaviors observed are correct. Furthermore, motivation is
needed for observational learning. Learning by observation, the learner must have high motivation as
observational learning needs more concentration and attention for learning a new behavior or new
attitudes. As nowadays, the people are more relying on technology and making them have less energy
to observe for learning new

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Jailbreak
Usually, when someone makes the jailbreak very first time to their device they do not really know
where and how to start. The jailbreak opens up a new world of possibilities where we can install
applications that are not accepted into the App Store and modify it at will by installing themes and
tweaks. We can eliminate the restrictions through jailbreak as it enables sending and receiving of files
via Bluetooth device though our contact is not an iPhone or vitaminar mail application. Jailbreak
permits root access to the iOS file system and manager, further allowing the download of additional
applications, extensions, and themes that are unavailable through the official Apple app store. It has
the property that if the user turns the device off and back on, the device will be patched without the
help of the computer. Hence, it enables the user to get the device boot up without using a computer.

Negative Campaigning Toward A Tipping Point
Negative Campaigning Toward a Tipping Point
Opposition research is a key part in modern campaigns, however the increase in negative campaigning
coupled with advancements in research techniques will create a more hostile election cycle. Negative
campaigning has been a method that helped control those with a lot of outside factors affecting them
prior to being elected. The right campaign ad with fact checked information is an amazing asset to a
campaign team. Media has progressed to a point where they demand live, off the cuff news twenty
four seven from the campaign trail. This makes it hard for the well calculated responses the political
community is used to less desirable. The right conditions have been meet to allow for an anomaly to
take advantage of negative campaigning and using more media desirable taglines to gain popularity.
This popularity comes at a cost however; the cost is damaging the success of getting the public to be
more involved in politics. Many organizations, politically affiliated and otherwise, have been created
for the purpose of getting the public to vote on election day. These organizations strive to ensure the
average person understands how important it is to vote for yourself and the community. Unfortunately,
negatively campaigning has been shown to disillusion the public and demotivate them to get involved
in the political process. With the general public getting less involved, the opportunity for the more
devoted and the more extreme to gain

The Beliefs Of Faith In Martin Luther s The Freedom Of God
When you hear the word faith, what comes to your mind? Do you think of religion, purpose, or your
belief in something?
What is faith? Is it a feeling, a thought, or a concept? As Martin Luther said in his book Freedom of a
Christian, faith is God s work in us, that changes us and gives new birth from God. When one thinks
of faith, they maybe think about their personal relationship with God and the unconditional love He
has. He who through faith is righteous shall live. The Word of God cannot be interpreted by any works
but only by faith. Martin Luther had stated that, It is clear that, as the soul needs only the Word of God
for its life and righteousness, so it is justified by faith alone and not any works. (Janz, A Reformation
Reader, pg 109)
There are three powers or virtues of faith that Martin Luther describes. Firstly, justification through
faith alone, which means we are free from the law and works as regards our justification and salvation.
Secondly, unity of man and Christ like bride to bridegroom which means faith unites the soul to
Christ, and lastly, the ability to ascribe to [God] truthfulness, righteousness, and whatever else should
be ascribed to one who is trusted. (Luther, The Freedom of a Christian, p. 103)
The first proposition of the three powers of faith is, Every Christian is by faith so exalted above all
things that, in spiritual power, he is completely lord of all things, so that nothing whatever can do him
any hurt; yea, all things are

Educational Attainment Is Poor And Exclusive Today s...
Education has the potential to enable all people to enhance their capabilities and functioning in order
to allow the achievement of sustainable livelihoods and a brighter future outside the classroom.
However, currently educational attainment is poor and exclusive in today s education system. This
problem is related to a range of economic, spatial, institutional, social and cultural structures and
processes that revolve around the subject of how the students attitude is around their entitlement . The
current education system s power is currently promoting a sense of academic entitlement in its
students. Student entitlement can be operationally defined: a self centered disposition characterized by
a general disregard for traditional faculty relationship boundaries and authority , or it can be described
appropriately as a sense that students deserve what they want because they want it and want it now
(Weimer). Entitlement can be seen as positive or negative, depending on how the special need label is
regarded. It is important to understand academic entitlement and and increase the awareness on how
predominant this mindset is in the current education system. Leading to the conclusion that students
and educators should both work hard in order to create and strive toward a common goal (Corbett
117). This changing attitude of students towards their educational success is considering it as an
entitlement and not a reward for their hard work. (Baggini 24 28). A

It should be noted that on page 61, when the story transitions to 1949, there s a jarring sense like one
is watching a different film. Eventually, this feeling fades. For the most part, the plot and series of
sequences feel easy to follow until the midpoint and then around page 75. This is when stronger
confusion emerges.
One thinks the story is back to the point before Danny found the stones. The narrative description
says: heading to the chateau, about to find the stones. However, then Danny is suddenly back in the
Ford with the Twins. This makes the audience feel lost. Try to clarify this.
Also, in the climax battle, when Danny is supposedly dead, the story feels dominated by Gabrielle and
Frank, rather than our hero.
What does work nicely is the scene in which it appears that Danny is trying to save Rose, but he slips
the ring off her finger. It s a smart and very satisfying payoff.
On the other hand, Rose claiming she loves Danny and that he loves her, doesn t feel credible or
authentic. Rose definitely is seductive, but the dialogue doesn t fully ring true.
The ending is sweet and gratifying, although it might be challenging to convince the audience that just
after Gabrielle tells him about the death of Frank that he proposes. The issue or concern might be that
the audience isn t clear on the timeline and when his death

Analysis Of Edgar Allan Poe s I Became Insane, With...
As stated by Edgar Allen Poe, a prominent gothic author, I became insane, with long intervals of
horrible sanity (Poe). Gothic authors were known for writing about insanity, but also becoming insane
themselves. Poe was one of the authors that were known for becoming insane after writing about it for
so long. Gothic period authors use terror and horror throughout novels, as well. Gothic literature was
written in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century. American Gothicism adapted the writing
techniques and from European Gothicism. American authors adapted plots from others and made them
into their own. The movement began by writing about the terrifying Indians of the frontier (Snodgrass
1). Gothic literature draws on a combination of terror and romanticism as its foundation. Movement
authors incorporated more psychological aspects into the novels instead of peaceful aspects. Edgar
Allan Poe, Herman Melville and Nathaniel Hawthorne are influential authors of the movement. The
authors incorporate the unique qualities of gothic literature in their works. In particular, Gothic period
author Charles Brockden Brown incorporates the two characteristics of insanity and an atmosphere of
mystery in his novels Wieland and Edgar Huntley.
Undoubtedly, Gothicism was meant to focus on the darker side of human nature (Gothic Literature).

her marriage to Shelley had already began to fail. In February of 1814 Shelley began to spend time at

The Problem Of Chemical Dependency
Chemical Dependency is common. It is most likely more common than one would think. The 2013
report from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found the percent of people 12
years of age and over with any illicit drug use in the past month: was 9.4%. The statistics also show
people 12 years of age and over with any nonmedical use of a psychotherapeutic drug in the past
month was 2.5%. These rates are significant. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIH, 2014) found
abuse of and addiction to substances costs Americans more than $700 billion a year in increased
health care costs, crime, and lost productivity. Unfortunately, each year illicit and prescription drugs

Risk Factors and Protective Factors
According to Walsh (2012), experimentation with alcohol and drugs is the most prominent risk to
becoming a substance abuser. There are neurologists and mental health professions that agree some
people are more susceptible than other people to becoming addicted to substances because of genetic,
biological, or environmental differences. Some of these risk factors include, but are not limited to:
family history of substance abuse, mental disorders, childhood trauma, and early experimentation with
substances. Even someone who does not have these risk factors but experiments with substances can
still become addicted. Typically, the more risk factors a person has, the more likely are chances that
using drugs will lead to abuse and addiction. Alternatively, having protective factors reduce a person s
risk of developing addiction. These protective

We Live In A Society That Is Fearful And On Edge, Of What,
We live in a society that is fearful and on edge, of what, when, and where the next tragedy could take

put it simply, we a society live every day in fear of the unknown and of some people usually lacking

All Lives Matter it s an outright erasure of all the sorrow, trauma, pain, tragedies, and PTSD that most

Citizen: an American Lyric, Sad is one of those words that has given up its life for our country, it s
been a martyr for the American dream, it s been neutralized, co opted by our culture to suggest a tinge
of discomfort that lasts the time it takes for this and then for that to happen, the time it takes to change

It meant me. I felt sad.

Loneliness In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
Almost everyone, in the book Of Mice and Men, was lonely in some type of way. The town Soledad
actually means solitude, implying that loneliness was a definite theme in the book (Leaf). For instance
Crooks, the black stable hand lives alone. Being the only black person on the ranch, he often keeps his
distance from the others (Steinbeck 74). He cannot work with other, because of his crooked back,
taking away his opportunity to ever work with the other men (Steinbeck 66). He loved to read and
because he was so lonely he liked to clean to occupy his time (Steinbeck 67). He s not allowed to stay
in the bunkhouse because the others do not like to socialize with him. Crooks feel like no one likes

responsibility of a mentally ill man. He does not have a life without Lennie; he doesn t know what it
feels like to live without Lennie. George is constantly occupied by Lennie, and never a moment to
himself (Gray). He explains that without Lennie he could possibly get a girl and although George
appreciates Lennie, he is not pleased with Lennie s bad judgment (Steinbeck 91). When George kills
Lennie, he becomes one of the lonely stable hands that he excluded himself from being in the
beginning (Steinbeck 106). Candy is also lonely, he is forced to be isolated because he has a disability
and is not able to do much (Steinbeck 59). He also had a dog that no one wanted to be around because
he smelled so bad, that dog was Candy s only friend (Steinbeck 44). Further, when his dog is shot
ultimately Candy does not have anything to live for, this is the reason he decides to latch on to George
and Lennie (Steinbeck 60). George also dreams of getting rid of Lennie. He tells Lennie multiple
times in the book that he wishes he didn t have to look after Lennie, or what he could be doing if he

Female And Female Roles And Social Factors
Until the 1970s, sex was known as or related to being a male or either a female. It was also referred as
the sex roles, sex differences or sex changer operation. People saw gender as being masculine and
feminine in certain cultures, like the French and Spanish. Now people see sex in two ways, either in
the biological way or the social factors. Johnson explains the differences between the biological way
and the social factors and the meaning of a male and female has changed over time and differ by
culture. Female and male roles was established by cultural and biological factors by people around the
world. It also has to do with the way people were brought up by parents and society as a whole. An
early feminist named Mary Wollstonecraft wrote a treatise called Vindication of the Rights of Woman.
She wrote this arguing that woman and men are basically equal. They may be different biologically,
but when it comes to the roles of each one they are the same. She also stated that the roles of society
was brought on by society and they aren t biologically determined (Ojeda 14). Gender has played a
role in my life in so many ways. I was always told that by older woman and some males that girls are
supposed to be seen, not heard. I always wondered what that meant until I got to a certain age. They
meant that females are supposed to be loving, caring, and quiet and shouldn t draw attention to
themselves. I was always taught in my history classes that males and females have

feelings and what it was like. A time where i can relate to Dinaw Mengestu s story is in the 6th grade.
It was the middle of August, and my first day at Smithville Middle School. I was finally one of the Big
Kids. I wanted to start my middle school years off great and fit in with all the intimidating 7th and 8th
graders. What you wear is a big part of fitting in with new people. On the first day of school, i noticed
all the older girls were wearing makeup and tight stretchy pants that showed off their butts. I decided i
wanted to be exactly like them. That same day after school, i made my mom take me to Zona Rosa to
go shopping. After shopping around for a bit i stopped upon the perfect pair of leggings. The leggings
were pink with blue spots and white stars everywhere. I begged my mom for the leggings and told her
i would die without them. In the end she finally took them up to the register. I was so excited and

Origination of issue: Binder, David. A 23 Hour Drama . The New York Times , 6 Sept. 1972.: The
headline stands out from the rest of the article, for it provokes sensitivity in the readers. Bias by
emphasis is exemplified as the writer continually includes details about the evil motives of the Arabs,
showing the left leaning value of community based on ethics. Rather than simply stating Palestinian
involvement, the article specifically mentions the invasion of the Olympic Village by the Arabs ,
targeting the Arabs. The usage of phrases like armed with automatic rifles , broke into , and seized
once again point out the nefariousness of the Arabs. The repetition of German involvement in the
negotiations with the Arabs emphasizes that society is a support system, and begins to examine the
impact on society. As is typical of left leaning reports, the New York Times next delves into how the
attack interfered with society by reporting that the bloodbath...ended at 1 A.M...after long hours of
negotiation between German and Arabs at the Israeli quarters in the Olympic Village and [a] Boeing

Similarities Between Electricity And Electricity
There will be one moment in our life that could be important and symbolic to us. It could be simple
ones or even complicated ones. Sometimes, seeing electricity for the first time could transform
someone s life. Even searching for your cultural identity could be significant to you. Electricity... and
An Unknown... both have similarities and differences. One main similarity in both poems is that they
have the same theme: discovery. In Electricity... it is about discovering electric lights for the first time.
On the other hand, An Unknown... is about discovering your other cultural identity. The entire poem
of An Unknown... is one long stanza, like a never ending conversation. This suggests that the poet
does not want her experience to end; she wants it to last forever and she does not want her memories
of her experience to disappear. Electricity... by Marcia Douglas contains three stanzas of a free verse
poem. There is massive difference in both poems regarding their structure. Electricity... takes the
reader on a journey on how electricity transformed the lives of people in a village. The poem begins
with a strong sense of anticipation. In An Unknown... the poet shares her experience during her visit in

Language, Power, And The Classroom Analysis
While reading chapter six from Beyond Grammar Language, Power, and the Classroom, written by
Mary R. Harmon and Marilyn J. Wilson, I began to realize how much we become caught up in the
rules of the so called Standard American English. It is sad because people are being judged on their
dialect, which is a representation of who people are and where they are from. I have found myself
correcting people that have a different dialect, or correcting people that say words that I have been told
were not proper language, such as the word ain t. Standard American English is something that is
embedded in our brains at a young age and as we go through school; language is something teachers
are constantly correcting children on. Reading about dialect has ... Show more content on

Therefore, I love that Harmon and Wilson states that No dialect limits its speakers ability to express
complex thoughts, to think critically, or to use a full range of linguistic functions and purpose (154

dialects, and the differences do not make anyone less smart, or less of a person just like Harmon and
Wilson explain that, Dialects are different not deficient systems (155). Everyone wants to be treated
equal and have equal opportunities; therefore, everyone needs to be more open minded and realize that
everyone has their own dialect, which does not make them any less of an intellectual person than
anyone else. Reading chapter six from Beyond Grammar Language, Power, and the Classroom,
written by Mary R. Harmon and Marilyn J. Wilson has open my eyes not to base peoples language off
from standard American English because everyone has a different dialect depending on their culture. I
am going to be more mindful of peoples dialect, and not be quick to judge a person based on their
language because a person s language is what makes that individual unique. Instead, I am going to
embrace the different dialects and use them as an advantage when teaching a classroom

The Meatpacking Factory is a case study involving the decision of a factory manager to let his Muslim

Upbringing Of Same Sex Marriage

Upbringing Of Same Sex Marriage In The United States
The importance of love has abruptly changed society forever.Same sex marriage has evolved over
time. Before the law was passed in 2015 that it was legal for same sex can get married in any state in
the United States; they had to build that foundation to get to this point. People that were not man and
woman marriages were frowned upon by people that was not for it. These people were murdered,
whipped, said they had a disorder, and brutally beaten until they changed their ways . The plethora of
court cases, Harvey Milk, and The Defense Of Marriage Act are all examples of the coming of age of
same sex marriage.
Over the years from the early 1900s to the present 20th century marriage has made a 360. From
deaths, jail time, and whippings; this is what molds the upbringing of same sex marriage.
The Society of Human Rights was the first and the oldest documented gay rights organization. It was
established in 1924 in Chicago, Illinois. Also the first state to decriminalize homosexuality.
Friendships and Freedoms were the first American publications on the topic of homosexuality. It was
founded by Henry Gerber, the society shortly ended after a majority of members were arrested. The
foundation still gets it recognition despite how small and the short existence it had, it was a milestone
for the LGBT(the Q for queer or questioning was not included in the acronym until

Theoretical Frameworks For Counselling Offer Guiding...
Theoretical frameworks in counselling offer guiding perspectives and direction informing professional
practice. As a practitioner I am drawn to post modernist approaches that position the human
experience as a social construction, and reality as a result of perception, language and culture ( ).
Embedded however within that social construction for me is the necessity to consider the broader
social and political climate and issues of power that may play a role in the human experience. As a
counsellor, I would like to align with a therapeutic approach that values the diversity and experience
of multiple realities, and that supports clients in finding their power both within and outside the
counselling session. Embracing the client counsellor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Armed with this new awareness, the therapeutic process from a feminist perspective was
reconceptualized to include an emphasis on social and political forces and an acknowledgement of
their role in disempowerment for women (Brown, 2010). Additionally, the seed of creating a more
respectful and humanistic approach to the counselling relationship was planted. Raising the
consciousness of clients around power and focusing on societal transformation rather than individual
adjustment became the identify of feminist therapy and to what Lerner (1993) referred to as the
feminist consciousness . This perspective afforded practitioners a new way to view problems
presented in therapy.
Enns (2004) highlighted two such new views related to client problems. First, the perspective that, the
personal is political emphasized that problems arising for women within therapy cannot be
disconnected from the larger social and political context. To consider problems in therapy solely on an
intrapersonal level is to perpetuate a blame the victim orientation. Therefore, it was essential that an
integrated analysis of oppression was explored. Second, problems and symptoms may be conceived of
as ways of coping and surviving oppressive circumstances. Anxiety may be reframed, not as the result
of a suppressed unconscious or the inability to cope, but rather as a reasonable response to sexisms,
violence or

Dnp ( Dnp ) For Public Consumption
During the First World War, the French coalition began integrating 2, 4 Dinitrophenol (DNP), as well
as other nitro compounds, into their explosives.4 Since its induction, DNP has been used in several
practices, ranging from wood preservation, photography development, herbicide, and dyes. In 1933,
Maurice Tainter, a Stanford pharmacologist, discovered that DNP had commercial value and potency
as a weight loss drug.6 Upon investigating its aromatic structure, and discovering that its interaction
with cellular components was responsible for energy and heat production, Maurice was able to prove
his hypothesis and confirmed that human consumption, of a previously incorporated additive in
explosives and herbicides, led to substantial weight ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bachynsky was able to market his product as Mitcal, and converted his practice into a weight loss
clinic.1 He gained much attention and publicized his drug as an integral component in his new
technique called intracellular hyperthermia therapy. However, when several thousands of patients
reported similar symptoms as the DNP crisis, and news of Mitcal intentional overdose, the FDA
opened an investigation of Dr. Bachynsky and his practice in 1983.5 Upon further investigation, and
uncovering the key component in Mitcal and intracellular therapy, Bachynsky was convicted of drug
violations, penalized, and prohibited from practicing medicine or prescribing DNP to others in 1986.6
Nonetheless, this was not enough to quell Bachynsky s dubious methods of dispensing DNP. He later
evolved and discovered novel avenues to market DNP, claiming that DNP had other potent medicine
value. Bachynsky moved his methods and practice overseas, where he fostered a marketing
relationship with an establishment in Europe that was developing DNP.3 He successfully marketed his
intracellular hyperthermia therapy, targeted to cancer patients. However, Bachynsky was discovered
and incarcerated in 2008 on fraudulent accounts.1 Since then DNP has mainly been prominent in the
media, specifically in the bodybuilding and rapid weight loss avenues. There have been a plethora of
case involving individuals who has attempted to take DNP, with intention of losing weight and

The Magazine Ladies Repository Magazine
The magazine Ladies Repository: A Monthly Periodical Devoted to Literature, Arts, and Religion is a
magazine that was published in 1800 and was targeted towards young women. The magazine was a
way to help teach and encourage women of the time on how to properly fit in and behave according to
the rules that society had placed on them. It taught them how to be considered an ideal, cultured
woman with high morals and spiritual standards. Although many readers today would argue that the
teachings and ideas taught by this magazine are extremely outdated and outrageously sexist, one must
realize that this was society s standard for women during the 1800 s.
The Ladies Repository magazine is a monthly issued magazine that is dedicated to teaching its
readers, mostly young Christian women, about literature, arts and religion. It is issued by the
Methodist church in Cincinnati and written mostly by ministers. Each issue of the magazine was
published from the year 1841 to 1876.
The articles in the December 1841 issue of the magazine contains a series of well written essays about
life lessons for women, moral character, religion, ancient fortifications, deity and nature, various
exerts of poetry, various examples of literature from different countries in their native language,
phrenology, the reformed inebriate, motherhood, the training of girls, history, science, and temperance.

Epic Of Gilgamesh Book Report
The Epic of Gilgamesh begins with a very vivid description of Gilgamesh and his strength. It tells of
how Anu, the sky god, tells Aruru, the mother goddess, to create something that was equal to
Gilgamesh in power. Aruru makes this man out of clay and calls him Enkidu. Enkidu was a mixture
between a man and some type of animal; therefore, he was able to live in the forest alongside of
animals. A trapper who hunted in that same forest became angry that Enkidu was setting traps free.
After going to his father, the trapper travels to Gilgamesh for help. Gilgamesh gives the trapper a
harlot named Shamhat to take back with him who will seduce Enkidu and turn him into a man. When
Shamhat reaches Enkidu, she beguiles him and he turns human. Now, Enkidu is not able to roam with
animals, instead he scares them. Shamhat reveals to Enkidu that Gilgamesh has had dreams about him
coming. Enkidu and Shamhat make a journey to Uruk so Enkidu can battle Gilgamesh.
Following a fight between them, Enkidu and Gilgamesh resolve their problems and become friends.
Gilgamesh persuades Enkidu to go with him to fight Humbaba, the guard of the Cedar Forest so that
they can gain recognition for the defeat. The elders of Uruk and Gilgamesh s mother pray over them
and designate Enkidu as Gilgamesh s servant. Then the two start their journey to Cedar Forest. Each

give him comfort during his suffering and to make known that Gilgamesh would not forget about him.

  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Art Theft Research Paper The Nazis hid, destroyed and plundered thousands of pieces of art and literature; the number is so high that experts cannot accurately estimate the amount of art stolen. The art theft, instigated by the Nazis under Hitler s order, began six years before the second World War had even started ( Documents Region, City, and Countryside 1). In response to the growing number of artwork being stolen and destroyed, special commissions were formed to protect the art. The Nazis plundering and destroying art was beneficial in the way that it united countless people from all over the world against the destruction of the priceless art, which led to the creation of international art protection programs and gained funding and support from the public and the government. Adolf Hitler, before he began the notorious German regime in 1919, had aspirations to be an artist. He applied to the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts in 1907; his aspirations to become an artist did not become a reality as his application to the art school was rejected. This motivated his hatred towards degenerate art, a type of art that was described as modern; Hitler was known to describe it as Jewish or communist in nature. Hitler pushed the classical art ideal, in which the only type of art allowed to be showcased in museums were classical pieces from artists such as Phidias and Picasso (Campbell 1). As the German regime began to gain wealth and power, the Nazis were ordered to begin to contact art ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Karl Marx View On Capitalism Karl Marx was a philosopher who was engaged in economic politics, sociology, and radical politics. Marx saw the world as two different entities. He saw it as a scuffle between the bourgeoisie and the proletariats. This is what divided the capitalist society. Marx believed everyone works in some shape, form, and fashion. The bourgeoisie were the individuals that held the capital and the proletariats were the wage laborers. The social aspect would then come in to play. Marx would then try to figure out how the bourgeoise and the proletariats could thrive in a world that had the poverty but there was plenty of wealth. Meaning how would the individuals who fell under the proletariat state be in a poverty class. Capitalism would be the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, we learned in Dr. Tatum s class that Rousseau had a major influence on the French and American Revolutions. Rousseau seems to explore more on freedom rather than radical politics. In my opinion, Rousseau would evaluate in the state of nature how man would have their freedom. You could say that men or man is actually free because he is not forced by state or other individuals. Another way, man is mentally and spiritually free and is not succumbed to wants or needs of society. Rousseau thought that a worthy government should be or have freedom for everyone in its social class. From the Discourse of Inequality to the possibility of being well governed: in which every person being equal to his occupation, no one should be obliged to commit to others the functions with which he was entrusted: a State, in which all the individuals being well known to one another, neither the secret machinations of vice, nor the modesty of virtue should be able to escape the notice and judgment of the public (Discourse of Inequality, Jean Jacque Rousseau) page1. As I understand Rousseau s beliefs on this matter or what he writes about in the Discourse of Inequality, unless you are In a state of nature you are not free to do as you please. If you have to have laws or be governed by man that says you must or will abide by certain standards, then you are not free. Furthermore, Rousseau also states that human ... • 4. Hyperboles In The Chilli Fart Humor can be one of our best survival tools Allen Klein. The Chili Fart which has an anonymous author is about a man and his unfortunate experience about urgently having to go to the bathroom while shopping at Walmart. The Chili Fart has a low level of comedy that uses hyperboles and comic situations to convey the idea that bodily functions can happen at any time, and one should be prepared. The Chili Fart is an example of low comedy because there are many comedic and unfortunate situations, which cause many problems for the author. The author adds many comic situations such as, With each new guffaw an explosive issue burst forth from my nether region ( The Chili Fart ). Adding misfortunes to the main character is a form of low comedy because there is not much to comprehend and there is a lot of slapstick humor involved. Adding unfortunate situations like this creates more humor to the audience because it adds more plot and readers will keep reading to find out what happens. In addition to comic situations, the anonymous author adds comic characters and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another example was when the author s loud noises sounded like, someone was robbing the store and firing off a shotgun ( The Chili Fart ). This shows exaggeration about the author s farting. This creates humor because it shows how loud the the author s noises were and how scary it must have been for the customers. • 5. Taking a Look at Emerging Churches Before plodding full steam ahead, it would behoove us to pin down some important definitions and qualifiers. First the term emerging church. In 2006, at a lecture at Westminster Seminary, Scot McKnight proffered that, there is no emerging church ...it is a movement, or a conversation. This statement, now nearly a decade old was made in an attempt to clarify to his audience that emerging/emergent ≠ denomination . This clarified distinction still stands; however as time has gone by, the aforementioned conversation as well as the term emergent itself have experienced some emergence. Indeed, there are now some churches that would willingly self identify (or allow others to take the liberty of identifying them) in such a manner. More often than not, however, they would also (and preferably, I might add) identify themselves as missional . (More on that in a bit). Emerging churches have several characteristics that make them similar to one another in some respects. But first, let s discuss what they are not. They are not a theological movement, and therefore do not hold in common a defined set of doctrinal beliefs or confessional statements. They are, however, theological in the sense that they are all about having conversation (as they like to put it) about Christian faith, mission and praxis in the context of the core classical Christian creeds. In true post modernist style, they are willing to discuss the relevance, veracity and need for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Theory The Mind Body Problem When discussing sex, the philosophical concept of hylomorphism is helpful. Philosophers have created three philosophical theories in attempt to solve the mind body problem. The mind body problem looks to explain both mental and physical properties and how they work together or if the two even work together. Mental properties are things that only you can feel directly. In other words, mental properties are private like experience, emotion and beliefs. Physical properties include: size, weight, shape and color. This means physical properties are observable to the public. One theory the mind body problem has created is materialism. Materialist believe we are one entity made of physical matter, our body. The second theory the mind body problem has brought about is dualism. Dualists believe as human beings we are two entities, the body and the soul/mind. This theory also believes that the real me is the soul/mind. Hylomorphists have a problem with dualists because they see human beings as one entity with two dimensions, material and formal. Human bodies become human bodies by being engulfed by the soul [Christopher Shield, 4]. Gabriel Marcel talks about hylomorphism in the respect of primary and secondary reflection. Primary reflections tends to analyze and dissociate object(s). This puts a gap between the two objects. On the other hand, secondary reflection sees no gap or separation from the object. Secondary reflection ditches the analysis and so, everything that goes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When growing up, the environment around affect the personality, values, as well as, beliefs of an individual. The environment includes friends, family members, and the people that affect the life of an individual. So, if the environment is negative, then an individual will have low self esteem. The question is how do these issues affect self identity? It is certain that people could choose what to do or wear, but what influenced these decisions? Scientific research has it that, beliefs, traits and emotions can be factors inherited from parents through the DNA. The memory of an event experienced by a grandparent could be passed through generations. This means that there exist certain identity traits in the genes of an individual. Images of violence or shows that are less empowering could have a certain negative amount of influence in self identity. A grown up also faces pressure from family and community beliefs, which make them put on a different piece of identity from their own. A theory known as the postmodern theory, explains that identity has become a mask put over an individual, and not from within. The mask is created as a result of influence from external forces that dictate what is right and what is wrong, or what is normal and accepted. The postmodern theory goes ahead to stipulate that, as an individual, one creates a self identity through these external influences. People do this so as to fit into the environment around them. In the United States, for example, there is a tendency of consumer culture to influence the way most Americans think and make decisions. Giddens has described that the lifestyle of an individual ... • 12. Negative Campaigning Toward A Tipping Point Negative Campaigning Toward a Tipping Point Opposition research is a key part in modern campaigns, however the increase in negative campaigning coupled with advancements in research techniques will create a more hostile election cycle. Negative campaigning has been a method that helped control those with a lot of outside factors affecting them prior to being elected. The right campaign ad with fact checked information is an amazing asset to a campaign team. Media has progressed to a point where they demand live, off the cuff news twenty four seven from the campaign trail. • 13. The Beliefs Of Faith In Martin Luther s The Freedom Of God When you hear the word faith, what comes to your mind? Do you think of religion, purpose, or your belief in something? What is faith? Is it a feeling, a thought, or a concept? As Martin Luther said in his book Freedom of a Christian, faith is God s work in us, that changes us and gives new birth from God. When one thinks of faith, they maybe think about their personal relationship with God and the unconditional love He has. He who through faith is righteous shall live. The Word of God cannot be interpreted by any works but only by faith. Martin Luther had stated that, It is clear that, as the soul needs only the Word of God for its life and righteousness, so it is justified by faith alone and not any works. (Janz, A Reformation Reader, pg 109) There are three powers or virtues of faith that Martin Luther describes. Firstly, justification through faith alone, which means we are free from the law and works as regards our justification and salvation. Secondly, unity of man and Christ like bride to bridegroom which means faith unites the soul to Christ, and lastly, the ability to ascribe to [God] truthfulness, righteousness, and whatever else should be ascribed to one who is trusted. (Luther, The Freedom of a Christian, p. 103) The first proposition of the three powers of faith is, Every Christian is by faith so exalted above all things that, in spiritual power, he is completely lord of all things, so that nothing whatever can do him any hurt; yea, all things are ... Education has the potential to enable all people to enhance their capabilities and functioning in order to allow the achievement of sustainable livelihoods and a brighter future outside the classroom. However, currently educational attainment is poor and exclusive in today s education system. This problem is related to a range of economic, spatial, institutional, social and cultural structures and processes that revolve around the subject of how the students attitude is around their entitlement . The current education system s power is currently promoting a sense of academic entitlement in its students. Student entitlement can be operationally defined: a self centered disposition characterized by a general disregard for traditional faculty relationship boundaries and authority , or it can be described appropriately as a sense that students deserve what they want because they want it and want it now (Weimer). Entitlement can be seen as positive or negative, depending on how the special need label is regarded. It is important to understand academic entitlement and and increase the awareness on how predominant this mindset is in the current education system. Leading to the conclusion that students and educators should both work hard in order to create and strive toward a common goal (Corbett 117). This changing attitude of students towards their educational success is considering it as an entitlement and not a reward for their hard work. (Baggini 24 28). A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What does work nicely is the scene in which it appears that Danny is trying to save Rose, but he slips the ring off her finger. It s a smart and very satisfying payoff. On the other hand, Rose claiming she loves Danny and that he loves her, doesn t feel credible or authentic. Rose definitely is seductive, but the dialogue doesn t fully ring true.
