Who Is Fortunato Ignorant
In Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe, Fortunato s character is shown as an ignorant, too
trusting, and naive. I think this is because he must of been somewhat young. In the story
Montresor says My dear Fortunato, you are luckily met. How remarkably well you are looking
today. He puts up a good front acting friendly. Fortunato allows Montresor to lead him down into
the catacombsthinking nothing of it. The reason I find that Fortunato is ignorant is that when
Montresor insists on Fortunato going back up and out of the catacombs due to his coughing he
refuses. Enough the cough is a mere nothing; it will not kill me. I will not die of a cough. Is what
Fortunato s response is to Montresor s suggestion. Then Montresor offers him wine.

Occupational Therapy Is A Way Of Changing Lives Essay
Occupational therapy is a way of changing lives by means of improving skills used in daily
activities and therefore increasing quality of life. Occupational therapy enhances everyday
experiences for a diverse group of individuals ranging from infants to the elderly, including those
with cognitive, developmental, mental, and physical disabilities. I am excited to pursue a career in
occupational therapybecause I realized at a young age that occupational therapists understood my
younger sister with Down syndrome in the same way that I did. They saw her first as a person
with many strengths and abilities that they worked to build upon. OTs acknowledged her ideas
and how she enjoyed playing, which they used as a basis for creating meaningful therapeutic
activities. I observed OTs adapt the environment within my home to fit the wants and needs of my
sister while understanding and developing her as a whole person throughout each therapy session.
OTs tremendously impacted my sister s life by helping her with activities of daily living from
infancy to young adulthood, such as learning to swallow, gripping a spoon, or figuring out
modification strategies for getting dressed. For these reasons along with the foundation of a
holistic approach to therapy, occupational therapists tend to be my favorite healthcare professionals
involved in my sister s care. My personal experience along with my education, research, and
professional experiences have led and prepared me to study occupational

Jimi Hendrix Accomplishments
Jimi Hendrix was called the greatest electric guitarist. He was someone who was determined to
make his life worth his time. Hendrix wanted to go somewhere and he never stopped trying to
get to where he wanted to be. He started from having absolutely nothing, he barely had a family
at some points in his life. Then at the age Twenty Five he was standing on a stage in front of over
half of a million people, who were there to see him. All he was, was a frustrated artist, trying to
learn to read music. Jimi Hendrixwas one of the most inspiring and remarkable musicians of the
rock era. James Allen Hendrix, who was better known as Al Hendrix was born in 1919, in
Vancouver, Canada. Lucille Jeter was born in 1925, in Seattle, Washington, where Al

Creedence Clearwater Revival, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, Santana, The Who and Crosby,
Stills, Nash and Young, Sky and the Family Stone. Once Hendrix and his band finally took
stage, the show was already running way over schedule. The 500,000 young crowd members
were exhausted from a weekend full of huge performances and heavy rain. However when
Hendrix started his set shortly after dawn on that Monday morning, instead of Sunday night, he
amazed the mud soaked crowds and brought them to a frenzy with his performance (Unterberger

audience with his performance, it was like no one has ever seen or heard before, one of a kind

A Rose For Emily Mental Analysis
Clarissa Rojas

Prof. Goldberg
17 March 2017
Prompt # 3 Reading A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner is truly an interesting story. This is
the first time I read about a character having a mental illness that made impressed me and
engage to read more. Emily is a simple girl who was left alone with nothing by her dead strict
father. In the story, she was very reclusive and secretive with her life. She then, murdered her
lover, Homer. She slept with his corpse until she died. Emily s mental behavior are caused by
few people in her life. This includes her father and the townspeople. The closest people with
Emily is her father. When her dead father was still alive, he secluded her from the world and overly
protected her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of Emily being the last in line from the well known Grierson family, she is recognized
by the every person in town. The townspeople played a role of investigating Emily s cause of
mental behavior. But because Emily is considered a high class person, it gave a reason for the
people of Jefferson to avoid the obvious clues that Emily is mentally displaced and was mentally
unstable, due to her father s death, and capable of premeditated murder. Emily s story and situation
was caused by a number of outlook. Though it is most likely being her segregation from herself
to the world. Emily s father s way of bringing her up and teaching her in life which was a wrong
way a parent could do by secluding her from the outside world and preventing anyone from
courting her. Instead of helping her grow and live her life, she couldn t and she was raised that
way by her father so she thinks that it is what is the right thing to do. Her behavior was certainly
psychotic. Homer s death apparently show that Emily doesn t want to be alone and that his corpse
being in her bed assured her that they ll be together

The Discovery Of The Night
Now when the fourteenth night had come, as we were driven up and down in the Adriatic Sea,
about midnight the sailors sensed that they were drawing near some land...When it was day, they
did not recognize the land; but they observed a bay with a beach, onto which they planned to run
the ship if possible. But striking a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground. (Acts 27:
27 44
This is Luke s account of the shipwreck that Paul experienced in the Adriatic Sea, near the Island of
Malta as he made his way by ship to Rome with two hundred seventy five other people aboard. A
fourteen night storm had beaten the ship until it was falling apart; however, before it sank, the
wind pushed it within swimming distance of the Island of Malta. Upon seeing land, the centurion
told those who could swim to jump into the water and swim to land. Then he told the others to
grab a board and float to the shore and their safety. Amazingly, they all safely escaped to land.
I doubt not that of all of us have experienced hard times in our lives. Life can be perplexing,
especially when it appears that we have reached the end of our rope and there is no visible way
out of the situation. Tragically, some people have given up all hope and acted foolishly.
Our difficulties are often self imposed; however, problems can be brought upon us by the actions of
other people. Nonetheless, regardless of how the difficulty came about, one problem can be just as
frightening as the other.

Spanish Dancer Essay
Joan MirГі s Danseuse Espagnole, or Spanish Dancer, is a famous Surrealist painting. The painting
gives an abstract, formless representation of the titular Spanish Dancer and was originally
presented as a part of a set of three Spanish themed paintings by MirГі in l945. Spanish Dancer
shows how deeply MirГі was influenced by his Spanish heritage and shows his dedication to
destroying the way his art was previously perceived by presenting an almost unrecognizable
abstract form of a familiar subject.
Being a Spanish artist, MirГі was often influenced by Spanish culture. In the case of Spanish
Dancer, MirГі drew inspiration from flamenco dancers. The dancer in the painting is shapeless,
representing the high energy of the sensual Spanish dance. Spanish Dancer is an oil on canvas
painting by artist Joan MirГі dated 1945. The painting belongs to the Surrealism style and measures

Surrealism was an intellectual, artistic, and literary movement that lasted from 1924 through the
end of World War II. Surrealism opposed rational thought and placed great significance on the
subconscious mind and dreams. Surrealism included a broad range and variety of art while
exploring psychology in artistic realms by depicting images conjured by the subconscious mind
instead of rational, aesthetic images previously held in high esteem.
Joan MirГі was an artist born on April 20, 1893 in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. MirГі was exposed
to the arts at a young age and is believed to have had interest in the arts since the age of seven.
MirГі s father was a watchmaker and his mother a goldsmith, so MirГі was exposed to his parents

Nitration of Methyl Benzoate
NITRATION
OF
METHYL
BENZOATE

 Purpose:
The main objective
of this experiment was to synthesize methyl nitrobenzoate from methyl benzoate, using the mixture
of nitric and sulfuric acid by performing the process of electrophillic aromatic substitution. During
this reaction, the combination of HNO3 and H2SO4 made a nitrating solution. The crystallization
was done to accomplish pure product. The melting point and Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC)
were performed to test the purity of the product. Using the methyl benzoate reaction product,
methyl nitrobenzoate, one can determine the meta substituted, para substituted and orthosubstituted
of the final products. Furthermore, HNMR and IR used to investigate the quality of the product....

This would indicate that during the recrystallization there was a reduction in the percentage yield
of the production. The obtained final product melting point rang was 76.2 780C. This would
show that the experimental melting point was very close to the literature value of 78 80В°C
which denotes the meta substituted of the product. So, the analysis of the melting point confirmed
that the product was methyl meta nitrobenzoate as it was anticipated. Additionally, use of the
melting point analysis shows that NO2 group could be added to the methyl benzoate at the meta
position successfully. The ortho and para products could have been also analyzed during the
experiment; however, they were not chosen for the product (methyl benzoate) because they have
unstable resonance forms that have positive charges near one another. The two positive charges
that are next to one another can make the product to be unstable and as result ortho and para
substituted products are not favorable in this electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction. Also,
an IR of the product confirmed that methyl m nitrobenzoate as a favorable. A peak located at
1536.1cm showed of the Aromatic C=C. At the 1351.8cm 1 there is a 1 presence of NO2. The one
located at 1730.1 cm was the result of a carbonyl group and 1 the peak at 1617.7 cm 1 specified the

Hydraulic Fracturing Of Natural Gas From Deep Below The...
Fracking, also known as hydraulic fracturing involves the extraction of natural gas from deep
below the ground. A shaft is drilled into the ground followed by a horizontal well hole that flows
to the gas layer of the earth. The well is divided into smaller sections and these sections are
fractured in sections. Fracking fluid (7 million litres of water is used, several thousand tonnes of
sand and 200,000 tonnes of chemicals (de Rijke, 2013)) is then pumped into the ground at high
velocity. Cracks are produced in the rocks, the sand in the mixture prevents cracks from closing
again. The water is then pumped out and natural gasis now easily obtained. (BBC News, 2016). The
first well was constructed in 1949 and as a result of a technology... Show more content on

Three other sites have been located in Wales, two sites for just obtaining geological samples and
the other one has been refused in Llandow, Vale (Raeng.org.uk, 2016). Fracking is a hot debate in
Scotland, with labour issuing a firm no on the issue to undergo fracking as of March 2016 (BBC
News, 2016). Also, in Northern Ireland, Taboran Resources has an interest to undertake fracking
located on an area that is on the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland
(Raeng.org.uk, 2016).
Two of the main companies involved in fracking in the UK include, Cuadrilla and Igas. Many
protests have been carried out to object to the fracking issue. Igas say that there are many new
investment opportunities, for example a ВЈ2.3 billion steel requirement in Britain, a ВЈ4.1 billion
waste, storage and transportation requirement and a skills and specialised equipment requirement
of ВЈ17 billion. (Igasplc.com, 2016). As of December 2012 there have been two planning
applications for fracking processes by Cuadrilla, at Prestion New Road and Roseacre Wood, before
Lancashire City council and they will frack for shale gas if it is approved. (British Geological
Survey, 2015). Many of the issues involved with fracking arise from the use of fracking in the US.
There are many positive outlooks when it comes to fracking;
Shale gas is not found all over the UK, only in certain areas. There is said to be a plentiful supply
of shale, with Cuadrilla stating that there is 5.7

The Rodney King Trial And Verdict
We are fools to think racism is something of the past. Racism is very much alive in this century as
it was in the last century. The Rodney King trial and verdict will forever be identified as a
moment in recent history that outraged the diverse residents of Los Angeles County and the
rest of America. Not only did it expose the police brutality African Americans endure, but it
showed the discrimination of a jury mostly made of white people. My family lived in Los
Angeles during the late 80 s and into the 90 s, and they still remember how dangerous walking in
the streets was during those years. The police did not only discriminate African Americans, they
also victimized Mexican Americans. The Rodney King trial and verdict of 1992 generated riots
across Los Angeles after four police officers accused of beating King were acquitted. The verdict
revealed the unjust racial treatment towards African Americans and it became a symbol of
police brutality and injustice that is still seen today. Rodney King was a black motorist who was
beaten and arrested by four white police officers in Los Angeles on March 3, 1991. The
policemen were unaware of being filmed until, George Holliday, captured the beating on
videotape from his apartment window and released it to the press (Alexander, Jacobs, and
Seidman, 2000). This incident was not a shock to individuals living in the Los Angeles County as
it was common to be victimized by policemen. The difference in Rodney King s case with other

A Research Study On Finance And Economics
Two years ago while I offered a research job at Cambridge in applied economics, one of my
friends jokingly quipped that one day I would be the next Raghuram Rajan, who had just taken
over as the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India following his academic position. I smiled as I
had then not considered the possibility of becoming an academic who could wield such power in
designing policies to govern the financial institution of the world s largest democracy. In retrospect,
this does not seem very far from the truth with respect to my long term career goals. I consider it a
privilege to contribute meaningful work that would improve the financial standards in my country.
My interest in a quantitative field like finance and economicscomes as no surprise, since
Mathematics is one of my favorite subjects and my forte right from secondary school. The power of
these subjects to cater to practical applications in the real world setting led to my close involvement
with them, which was also instrumental for my qualifying for the Indian National Mathematics
Olympiad. For my undergraduate studies, I chose Mechanical Engineering over the other options,
at one of the top universities for this discipline in my country, due to its significant quantitative
content and for the possibility of applying those tools to solving complex problems, which I did.

The Rigoberta Menchu Controversy
The Rigoberta MenchГє Controversy
I, Rigoberta MenchГє at first seems like an autobiography, but that is not what it is meant to be.
MenchГє wrote the book as a testimony of her people s lives to be a voice for her people and show
the world what is going on. There was a lot of controversy about whether Rigoberta deserved the
Nobel Peace Prize, and if this book should be taught to students. There are allegations that she
fabricated a lot of the story. People say that the book is not an accurate portrayal of her life.
Considering that MenchГє said, I d like to stress that it s not only my life, it s also the testimony of
my people , the reader should know that this book was not meant to be an autobiography. MenchГє

In the course of his research Stoll never interviewed MenchГє herself. Stoll begins the preface of
his book by asserting that there is no doubt about the most important points MenchГє makes (viii).
Moreover, despite press reports about requests to the Nobel Prize Committee to rescind the Peace
Prize after the Times article, in his book Stoll states that he believes awarding the Nobel Prize to
Rigoberta MenchГє was a good idea and that she has been the first to acknowledge that she
received it, not for her own accomplishments but because she stands for a wider group of people
who deserve international support. (ix) The prize was awarded to MenchГє not for her testimony
but for her later political work and peace organizing.Specifically, Stoll s research leads him to
confirm the following information in MenchГє s testimony. In her testimony Rigoberta states that
her father was burned alive when the army attacked the Spanish Embassy he was occupying to
protest human rights abuses, an occurrence that is widely known in Guatemala. Stoll believes
MenchГє s account of the events at the embassy is more balanced than most others. Rigoberta also
stated that her mother was detained, raped, tortured, killed, and her body was mutilated by the
Guatemalan army. Rigoberta MenchГє s horrific description of what happened to her

The Violence of Japanese-American Internment Camps
The Violence of Japanese American Internment Camps
Setting
During the late 1930s and early 1940s the world was in disarray, the Germans attacked the Polish
igniting World War II. The Japanese General of the Imperial Army allied with the Axis, and was
directly responsible for the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. This completely altered
American citizens outlook on Japanese Americans and led to President Franklin D. Roosevelt s
retort of signing the Executive Order 9066.CITATION Wor12 l 1036 (World War Two Japanese

It would be considered Man vs. Society or more precisely, Society vs. Society. This form of
external conflict had harsh effects on both parties. The non Japanese Americans were mistreated;
over 120,000 of them were rounded up and placed into one of ten internment camps, or as the
government liked to call them due to its more pleasant sounding name, relocation centers . The
conditions in these camps were subpar. They were overcrowded and had poor living conditions. It
was an unprivileged life living in these camps; internees shared large barracks with many other
internees, similar to what you would see in an army boot camp. (Siasoco and Ross) While the
America government considered it necessary, using the excuse that it was for their own protection,
the Japanese Americans were not allowed to leave these camps, showing that it was much more
than protection . The conflicting side, were the non Japanese Americans. Anti Japanese propaganda
became abundant and instilled fear and paranoia into their hearts. Take, for example, Figure 1,
propaganda similar to this one terrified non Japanese Americans, putting pressure on the
relationship between races. Non Japanese Americans became paranoid, believing that the enemy
was living among them. This resulted in violence such as hate crimes, discrimination and
segregation.

Family Counseling By Dr. Berger
The Jarrett family was referred to family counseling by Dr. Berger, to address the family s
breakdown in communication brought on by grief, after losing the oldest son in a tragic accident
and the events that followed. The Jarrett s are an upper middle class white family that live in
Forest Hills, Illinois.
Calvin, the father, age 41, is an attorney in a well established law firm in Chicago. He has been
acting as the mediator between Beth and Conrad. He was emotional about the loss of his son, Buck,
and is concerned about Conrad s mental health after his suicide attempt.

Throughout the marriage Beth has decreed who Calvin will be as a husband and father; on the
day of Buck s funeral she criticized Calvin s choice of shoes he was wearing and demanded that
he change them. Calvin also has a poorly differentiated self ; he will quickly conform to Beth s
demands because he also craves approval. She demands that her children be and act perfect. When
Buck was little, before Conrad was born, Beth formed a very tight bond with Buck, that seemed to
push Calvin out of the happy little triangle that was their family. Beth s pregnancy with Conrad was
difficult; morning sickness, high blood pressure and a difficult labor and delivery. Beth does not
have the same bond with Conrad as she did with Buck. Since Bucks death, Beth has withdrawn
from any connect she might have had with Conrad; at times ignoring him when they are in the
same room together, being irritated if Calvin wants to share his concerns about their son s
emotional state and refusing to even be in a picture with Conrad. Calvin s alliance with Beth
begins to shift when he begins to realize that Beth is not the person he thought she was. He
wonders if she cannot not even find a little compassion for their son, who is hurting so much; can
she even love. As Calvin and Conrad begin to form a stronger bond Beth becomes stauncher in her
beliefs that Conrad is the cause of the turmoil in the family.

Security Techniques Essay
Techniques used by organisations
Overall information systems hardware, software, networks and data resources need to be
protected and secured to ensure the effective performance of an organization. One security
technique used by organizations to protect their computer systems from security threats is
encryption this is a method used by organizations to send data to others it works by using special
mathematical algorithms to convert the data into scrambled code before transmission and when
the data is received it is decoded when an authorized user accesses it. In my opinion, this is very
effective because it stops people from being able to read or use data if they intercepted it as the is
in a scrambled letter and number form. Another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anti virus software and Antispyware Software works by identifying suspicious software based on a
list of known threats it then checks the computer against that list and tells the user if it finds
anything on its list. In my opinion, Anti virus software and Anti Spyware Software is very effective
because it stops malicious software getting onto a computer which could steal or leak sensitive
company data. One security technique is protecting systems with usernames and passwords to
access any equipment, wireless networks and sensitive data should be guarded with unique
usernames and passwords for each member of staff, this is for two reasons it is an added layer
of security so if someone hacks in they have to get passed the password and it also allows
companies to see what exactly their employees are accessing, also the passwords that are used
should be very strong so the passwords should include numbers, letters and symbols and not
have standard dictionary terms or dates such as birthdays which are easy to guess. In my
opinion, usernames and passwords are very effective because it makes it harder for hackers to
hack in and it allows companies to keep an eye on employees for example they will be able to see
what files they are accessing and if they are a risk to the company. One more security technique is
keeping sensitive data out of the cloud, Cloud computing offers businesses many

Reflection Of Journalism And Writing
I know that the Master of Science program at Columbia will fit my needs as a student and as a
budding professional. Journalism and writing have not been lifelong loves of mine, and throughout
high school I was a math and science student. I took an introductory journalism course as a senior in
high school, and I quickly learned that journalismis more than writing about yourself and topics
you like. Even with the light requirements of the class, I got my first taste of the process of
writing a story. When I arrived to campus, I decided to apply to the journalism program in hopes
of simply becoming a better writer, regardless of what I would end up studying. Nearly three
years later, I am thankful that I decided to take the first steps toward becoming a better writer.
The undergraduate journalism classes I took piqued my interest in the field, and the potential
graduate courses at Columbia will culminate my learning experience. As an undergraduate, I was
particularly influenced by a class I took during the 2016 election. The class was described as a
seminar discussion on recent election news, but it turned out to be something entirely different. I
soon found out that the class was going to be responsible for creating and maintaining a new
website similar to Politifact. Each student was assigned a local or state senate race and a national
race to follow and fact check. This task, while interesting, seemed daunting at first. The local race
seemed too small for anybody to

I m a qualified life saver and hold both my bronze medallion and senior first aid certificate. And
today I m here to talk about why I believe more people should learn how to do CPR, whether you

arrest in Australia. You guys might ask what cardiac arrest or CPR is, so I will give you a bit of
an insight to what they are. Cardiac arrest is a disorder where the heart suddenly stops beating,
which stops the blood flow around the body to the vital organs such as the brain. In this
circumstance, CPR if provided immediately at a scene, can be a lifesaving technique.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a means to preserve someone s life by maintaining
their airways, breathing and circulation while professional help is along the way. And cardiac
arrest can occur to anyone, anywhere, anytime. 30,000 people pass away each year in Australia
from cardiac arrest. And due to the lack of people knowing how to perform CPR properly, sadly
there aren t many lucky people who survive. Knowing CPR properly can mean the difference
between life and death for people who are suffering cardiac arrest in most situations. Just one easy
procedure that isn t taught to enough people. And considering how simple it is to learn CPR, why

Lisa Fitzgerald s Testimony Of Faces
The Testimony of Faces display by Lisa Fitzgerald is a raw comment on the social sphere of
Nicaragua, as well as a hopeful act of solidarity by photographer Lisa Fitzgerald. In her
Testimony Fitzgerald documents, in photograph, those she worked with on the tobacco fields o
Jalapa Nicaragua in their adult lives. Shown side by side with pictures from each person s past,
The photos of the tobacco workers makes a phenomenal job of sharing each testimony, in no
words at all. Split into three main sections depicting the struggle of grueling plantation work, the
horrors of the contra war, and the deadly effects of fumigants in Nicaragua respectively, Ms.
Fitzgerald s photo exhibit takes on a journey through 1980s Jalapa Nicaragua that ends with a
picture of herself (then and now) sitting triumphant as an accomplished teacher and photographer
yet still punished. With one foot in the tobacco fields of Jalapa and the other stepping out onto a
new world of opportunity, Fitzgerald fearlessly tells the story of her people while... Show more

Fitzgerald acts upon the strife in Nicaragua as if it was still her own. Fitzgerald can muster this
empathy because she has personal experience in the tobacco fields of her native country; we are

Character Analysis of Reverend Parris
Character Analysis of Reverend Parris If it were not because of the self preserving and greedy
nature, also the paranoia of the people in Salem, the Salem Witch Trials of 1692 would most
likely not have occurred. One of those people is Reverend Parris, who is the minister of the
church in The Crucible. All Reverend Parris cares about is his reputation/good name and the
amount of wealth he has. He is paranoid that there is a faction of townspeople that are trying to

reason. He also suppresses evidence that would have discredited the court, but... Show more content

In a short matter of time the world saw the emergence of the Big Three Tim Duncan, Manu

team (Kohout). These three players played a huge role in the future of the Spurs team.
Additionally, the trio established an identity that powered the Spurs to be constant contenders for
the championship and vicious competitors in the NBA. The Spurs have a distinct style of play

He made a brilliant choice of founding store s location on the main road of the new town, opposite
the General Post Office. David Jones received support from not only the Sydney gentry, but also the
country settlers. Everyone gathered to the store to buy buckskins, ginghams, waistcoat fabrics, silks

David Jones s retirement brought difficulties in to the business and it made him come back to

Why Is Victor Frankenstein A Monster
Accursed creator! Why did you form a monster so hideous that even you turned from me in
disgust? God, in pity, made man beautiful and alluring, after his own image; but my form is a
filthy type of yours, more horrid even from the very resemblance. Satan had his companions, fellow
devils, to admire and encourage him, but I am solitary and abhorred. Mary Shelley. In this quote
you can see that the monster is angry at Victor Frankensteinbecause Victor turned him into a
hideous monster. According to the book there is only one monster and that is the creature of Victor
Frankenstein. But you can also look at it in this way: Victor Frankenstein made a monster, so is
Victor then also a monster because of what he has created?
First the definition of monster:
1. Any animal or human grotesquely deviating from the normal shape, behaviour, or character.
2. A person who excites horror by wickedness, cruelty, etc.
To begin with, Victor Frankenstein was driven by his ego. He thought that he had found a
solution to escape death. The only thing Victor really wanted was to bring a dead person to life
as fast as possible and therefore be famous. As scientist he didn t began good with his project, he
began straight with making the body without any sort of testing. He also wasn t ethical, without
permission he took organs and pieces of body from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think they are both monster s. Victor Frankenstein is a normal man from the outside but a
monster from the inside and Victor Frankenstein s monster is a monster from the outside but
somebody who wants to be loved from the inside. They both do monstrous things. Victor gave the
death a new live and that s not the way this world works, so it only could go wrong. The monster
did murder people, but only the relatives from Frankenstein nobody else. So coming back on the
definitions of monster. Victor Frankenstein is more number 2, because of the things he does. The
monster is more number 1 because of his

I just do not agree with the government hiding facts to help get what they want. In today s age

Building Software versus Building a House Building software and building a house have many
similarities as well as differences. There are four aspects that I found in which there are some
similarities and differences. These aspects are planning, materials, design, and schedules. There are
many more aspects that can be used as well as what the aspects have.
Similarities
In order to better understand the similarities and differences between software architecture and
building architecture one needs to know what software is. According to Software Engineering

In building architecture the design is hard to change once it is set up. It is also more time
consuming to change and more costly. The last aspect is the scheduling aspect. In software
architecture one can schedule a project to be done in as little as one month depending on the
project. Within the building architecture the scheduling is more time consuming and could take up
more time depending if the stakeholder is approved for certain aspects of the building. In the
building architecture one needs to take into consideration the scheduling when it comes to the
inspectors. There are times when they are able to go and let the stakeholders know what passed
and what did not. In software architecture the program will flag where the program is, making it
easier for the programmer to go back and check on the spot when running the program. In the
diagram below one can see the aspects as well as the differences in both software and building
architecture.

The Disaster Of A Earthquake
The year 2010 was an active year for earthquakes and other natural disasters, racking up a total of
four earthquakes ranked 7.0 or higher. Two of these quakes were merely a month apart, and
started the year in a very destructive way. The first was a 7.0 in Haiti, the second over 3,000 miles
away in Chile, an 8.8. Though both ravaged their countries, one was decidedly more devastating
than the other. Looking at the magnitudes of the quakes, you might think Chile received the worst
of it, but after further inspection, you may not be so sure. While the magnitude of a quake can be a
big factor in the corresponding effects, the infrastructure of the affected area plays an even larger
role in the number of casualties and the amount of devastation that is experienced. This devastation
is further increased in coastal areas due to the high likelihood of tsunamis shadowing high
magnitude quakes.
The evening of January 12, 2010 was met with tragedy as a powerful 7.0 earthquake rattled the
coast of Haiti. The epicenter of the quake sat close to the town of LГ©ogГўne, a mere 15 miles
from the island nation s capital. (brittanica.com) Many buildings collapsed or were severely
damaged, including the national palace and the United Nations headquarters. The loss of life was
unfathomable and death tolls only seemed to grow as the injured struggled to find medical aid and
volunteer relief systems from other countries grappled with the country s lack of proper
infrastructure. Haiti s electrical

Breaking The Prairie Symbol
A Symbol of the Pioneer Glory: Breaking the Prairie
The pioneer and all his train are now arrived safely in the realm of Romance. His prairie
schooner drawn by oxen, his log cabin...his prairie of a thousand variable charms...his founding of
government... all these, because they are long past and we are proud of the courage and
hardihood of our fathers...and a little proud of ourselves for having descended from them all these
transmuted to the very stuff of fable, the very texture of myth. The glory of Lincoln is not
unconnected with the pioneer s proper glory, for Lincoln was subject to hardships of the early
settlers.

This can be explained particularly in the case of the Morrill Act signed by the former president
himself in 1862, which established the donation of public lands to various states in order to
establish universities with three land grant ideals: higher education that is accessible to all, the
obligations of universities to teach liberal arts and practical subjects, and to share knowledge far
beyond the campus borders. Iowa was the first state to accept the Act, making Iowa Agricultural
College and Model Farm the nation s first land grant institution. Until today, Iowa State still
remains true to the land grant missions, and continues to strive for excellence as a national leader
of modern land grant institutions. Speaking of which, I realize the first land grant ideal: Open
higher education to all regardless of race, gender and background is closely associated with one of
the greatest achievements of Lincoln the issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation that led to the
abolishment of slavery in the United States. If it were not for Lincoln s contributions, the ideal
might have not been made possible. Furthermore, the incorporation of Lincoln esque figures as
laboring men in the mural reflects the former president s humble origins, whose hard

World War 1 Causes
In the late 1800s Otto von Bismarck, the Chancellor of Prussia predicted that some damned
foolish thing in the Balkans would start another war. That is exactly what happened when
Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria Hungary visited the Balkans and was shot; this sparked
World War 1. The killing of the Archduke, however, is not the only reason for World War 1.
There were actually four underlying causes that led to World War 1: Militarism, Alliances,
Imperialism, and Nationalism. All four of these causes played their own part in leading to World
War 1 and set off a chain of events that left Europe shaken. Militarism was a underlying factor in
leading to World War 1 because it created competition between countries and caused those countries

The alliances were the triple alliance and the triple entente. The triple alliance consisted of

because Austria Hungary attacked Serbia due to the killing of their to be ruler. Then Russia starts

France but United kingdom has an alliance with them and attacks Germany to protect Belgium.A

Challenges And Advantages And Disadvantages Of Matrix...
There are many types of structures that an organization might have, each of them comes with its
own set of advantages and disadvantages. Let us look at the benefits and drawbacks of three (or
rather, five) of the more modern structures. Matrix organizations One of the biggest challenges
for employees in a matrix organization is the fact that they have to report to multiple managers.
With employees directly reporting to two or more supervisors, these supervisors need to be
highly coordinated with one another to make sure that they re giving consistent orders.
Otherwise, employees may be given orders from different managers that are very difficult to
follow in unison. Even worse, orders from different managers can outright conflict. Employees
can t follow these orders because they re mutually exclusive. This causes ambiguity and confusion
as to what the employee should do. This problem can be avoided with high levels of
communication and coordination between department managers and project managers though. If
these managers can stay on the same page, they can have a much clearer picture of where to lead
employees and they can put up a unified front. In that way, instructions from either manager that a
given employee reports to can give orders consistent with the orders given by the other manager,
and the employee will be able to follow the lead of both managers simultaneously. There are clearly
challenges in leading a matrix organization, as well as challenges in working

The Theme Of Indecision In Hamlet By William Shakespeare
To be or not be that is the question. That is the question Hamlet is tormented by throughout the
play Hamlet by William Shakespeare. Should I live? Should I die? Should I take revenge for my
father s death? These are all the internal struggles Hamlet is trying to combat within himself. Also,
Hamlet tends to have a conflict with every member of the play. His indecision is followed by his
inaction. The reason for this struggle with indecision can be based on many factors life presents for
Hamlet.
At the beginning of the play, Hamlet spoke to a ghost which was his father, the dead king. The
king confessed that Claudius, the king s brother that is now married to Hamlet s mother, killed
him. Hamlet s first soliloquy (1.2) reveal Hamlet s melancholy towards his mother s actions, Why,
she would hang on him as if increase of appetite had grown by what it fed on, and yet, within a

For The Past Forty Years, Ohio Is Believed To Have Gone
For the past forty years, Ohio is believed to have gone through a process of deindustrialization. This
means that Ohio experienced a decline in manufacturing jobs. While this is a simple definition, the
origins of the term deindustrialization gives a deeper, more pejorative meaning to the term. This
darker meaning to the term is perhaps more effectively conveyed through the term rust belt. After
Ohiowen through the process of deindustrialization, the lack of industrial jobs in a once booming
industrial area left many factories empty and decommissioned. As these factories became older and
unused, their rusting facades became a symbol of the deindustrialization that Ohio experienced,
leading someone to coin the term rust belt for the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The term traces its roots back to World War II. The concept of deindustrialization began in Nazi
Germany. The Nazis described the areas that they had invaded in conquered in this way. This is
because they eliminated any industry from the areas that they took over, forcing these states to
become dependent upon Germany for economic and industrial development. This philosophy was
also used as a punishment for those countries, showing the power of Nazi Germany. After the end
of the war, the Allies began to use the term deindustrialization , as well. Essentially taking the
definition from the Nazis, they used this term in discussions of how to punish Nazi Germany in
post war rebuilding plans. Regardless of who was using the term in World War II, there was
always a negative connotation attached to it. Rather than simply saying that it meant a decline in
manufacturing jobs for an area, the term was used as a punishment and a show of power. In its
origins, deindustrialization was used by the winners of a conflict to describe how they would take
away industry from the losing nation or state. For this reason, it can be seen how the term
developed a negative connotation. The term grew tremendously in usage around the 1970s, when

Why Was Hitchcock Considered An Auteur
Every film that is made has a collective group of people who lend their vision to a film. The term
auteur theory, originating in France in the 1950 s, is a French word that means author and in the
world of cinema that would mean the director is the one who is the major creative force behind the
film. As stated in the article The Auteur Theory, the term author carries another association namely,
the idea of a lone, individual creator. With the word auteur being involved it means that the director
is not only the one in charge of directing the film, he would have say or input of other mediums
like for instance a painter or a writer. They are rebels against a collective group effort and instead
go rogue in making decisions on their own disregarding input from the team and most importantly
the studio backing the film. The directors choice to take on full ownership of films leaves... Show

I had seen his version of Psycho and really loved it. Watching Shadow of a Doubt, it proved why
Hitchcock is considered an auteur in many ways. While the term was coming into play,
Hitchcock had a unique vision in his films that differentiated with other filmmakers. He is a
superb master of building suspense and mystery, keeping the audience s nerves always on high
alert. His cinematic technique exemplified camera viewpoints, editing, suspense building. His
shot of facial expressions in the film is startling especially in Shadow of a Doubt because it
showed changes in personality in an instance. When you have films that have strong structure and
shows that he is the one who has complete control over the films he makes. This is his way of
making all his films his, putting a stamp on them. I think what separates him from others is the fact
that he had cameo appearances where he can have his image promoted in his own way. It s like an
artist putting their signature on a painting. Thus making it their own work of

Osteoporosis Is A Health Problem
Definition
Osteoporosis is a health problem which is on the rise and is affecting primarily women (Nichols,
Pavlovic, 2003, p. 447). Osteoporosis is characterized as a disease of the bones whereas the bones
becomes weak and very fragile. Many people with this disease often break bones within the hip,
spine, and wrist. The bones are easily broken from a minor fall or, in severe cases, from a simple
sneeze. The meaning of osteoporosis is porous bone. When looking at a healthy bone under a
microscope, you will find the resemblance of a honeycomb. Far as osteoporosis, those holes and
spaces in a honeycomb are much larger than a healthy bone (National Osteoporosis Foundation).
Magnitude of Problem
Within America, osteoporosis presently affects approximately 10 million people and is
responsible for more than 1.5 million fractures annually (Societal Burden of Osteoporosis).
About 54 million Americans have osteoporosis and low bone mass which makes them at high
risk for the disease (NOF). This disease holds a substantial financial burden with annual direct
cost ranging from 17 to 20 billion dollars. Because of the consistent growth in age among the
population, the prevalence and number of osteoporosis fractures will continue to increase (SBO).
Worldwide, osteoporosis has an estimated total of affecting 200 million women, one tenth of
women aged 60, one fifth of women aged 70, two fifths of women aged 80, and two thirds of
women aged 90. Across the areas of Europe, United States,

Using A Different Setup Than A Standard Linear Optical System
Using a different setup than a standard linear optical system, [SOURCE]Choi et al. are able to use
trapped ions as qubits in an optical quantum computer. As a direct result, unique possibilities for
addressing scalability issues are discovered. Since trapped ions already have fundamentally low
levels of coherent error, suppression of that error in a scaled quantum computerrequires significantly
less error correction. Also, the group demonstrates an architecture in which more than two
entangled qubits could be addressed simultaneously, further expanding the possibility of scaling.
Some research indicates that linear optical systems could contain unexplored features that would
greatly increase the feasibility of scalability for quantum... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Properties like this make working with double donor systems much easier. Still, some of the end
results of experiments using single dot schemes have advanced quantum computing in general, via
a combination of multiple schemes. An article by CalderГіn et al., in tandem with other previous
experiments that allow for coherence times near a second, provide a possible solution to avoiding
coherent error. The use of a single electron donor for isolated qubits has one interesting result:
CalderГіn describes the unique state when he says if they form a triplet, selection rules imply a
much longer lived state. This unique situation does not come as a result of double donors, only
single. By using only single dot triplets, it might be possible to combine the system with others
because of its abnormally long coherence time and high accuracy. As discussed, the use of single
dot architecture could be combined in unique ways with linear optical schemes. [SOURCE]
Economou et al. support this idea, stating [s]pins...have received a great deal of attention because
they interact strongly with light and provide the opportunity for ultrafast all optical implementation
of logical operations. While the negative implications of that statement, especially in decoherence
caused by environmental interaction, have been discussed, there are many potential benefits as
well. Foremost among these is the

King Arthur Informative Speech
1. Are you at all familiar with the King Arthur legend? List any examples, whether from movies,
books, video games, etc., of how you know about the King Arthur legend. After many years of
reading and watching fantasy books and movies, I did come across the legends of King Arthur
and his knights at the round table. The first time I was introduced to the legend was when I
watched Disney s The Sword in the Stone. Since I saw this movie when I was younger and the
only movies I wanted to watch during that time was Disney s Lady and the Tramp and 101
Dalmatians, I did not pay any attention to the movie whatsoever. Although I did not watch the
movie, I still remembered the basics of the legend. The second time I was introduced to this legend

For starters, part one does not mention anything about King Arthur. In most of the King Arthur
legends I have heard, Merlin was underappreciated and not recognized like he should have been.
Merlin s only purpose was to help Arthur become king and help him complete the prophecy that
he foretold. Unlike most of the legends I have heard, Merlin was a mystery in those legends.
Nobody knew his backstory, or where he came from. In part one, the book explains Merlin s
early life. (This was something I truly liked about the book because this was the first time I ever
heard of Merlin s life before he met Arthur.) Although King Arthur did not appear in part one of
the book, I am curious to see if he will be a part of the story later on. Although my impressions of
the King Arthur legends have not been consistent with Mary Stewart s book The Crystal Cave so
far, I look forward to reading and finding out more about Merlin, who was the man behind the King

Willy Wonka Religion
I talk to God but the sky is empty. Sylvia Plath. Religion and faith is a huge, integral part of the
lives of the billions of people living on our planet today. The faith they have in a higher omnipotent
being that they feel is protecting and watching over them helps guide them to live a good, morally
conscious lifestyle. Even though the presence of a Godisn t always clear to everyone, there is
always someone who will argue about their existence, but what happens when you seek a God
and find that no one is there to answer you ? Just as the quote describes, there are also many
people across the globe that find themselves searching for a God and can not find one, or just do
not need one altogether. The absence of faithleads them to live a... Show more content on

The only two exceptions in the story seem to be Charlie and the great Willy Wonka. Throughout
the book Willy Wonka is highly respected and thought to be a genius by everyone. He is
revered, and nothing but praise seems to be heaped upon him by every character in the story and
what seems to put him apart from everyone is his belief in both ideals. Even though it is not
stated in the book there is clear evidence that Wonka is a very business minded individual and
gives the success of his factory massive importance. This is shown in the way he closed down
his factory from the public in order to safeguard the secrets of his products from spy efforts from
his competitors. Another shrewd business maneuver was putting the golden tickets inside
chocolate bars, knowing the tickets would be highly coveted, he knew that sales for his candy
would skyrocket. On the other hand Wonka is very faith driven as shown by his choosing of
Charlie to be his successor. Wonka chooses Charlie for his faith and willingness to accept the
wisdom of others, Charlie obviously not being blinded by his own self gain. I want a good,
sensible, loving child. (151) Charlie also seems to share in Wonka s belief of both ideals
evidenced by his good natured faith that leads him to be chosen as Wonka s successor but also in
his want for a better life. He wanted something more out life and unlike his father he did not simply
sit around hoping for a miracle. Charlie saw his opportunity in the golden tickets and pursued it. He
could have simply given up after not getting the ticket the first time, but he stuck to it everychance

Hospital During The Civil War Essay
At the start of the Civil War, the way hospitals were organized and took care of their patients was
disastrous in every single aspect of its supposedly well thought out system. To be fair, the shelling
of Fort Sumter caught both parties involved quite unprepared for the catastrophic number of
casualties to occur. No military leader or general surgeonhad planned for such a large scale conflict.
Even in times when the war seemed to lull in its rhythmic pace, the Medical Department was
greatly understaffed and overworked. Only 114 doctors served the 16,000 men serving in the U.S.
Army in 1861, mostly in garrison hospitals. After battles, surgeons set up hospitals near the
battlefield to care for patients until they had recovered sufficiently enough to... Show more content

Today, historians credit Johnathan Letterman for the success of the hospitalorganization during the
Civil War. If it were not for Letterman s plan, then the set up of how hospitals are organized
would not be the way it is today. Hospitals nowadays tend to their patients faster. If patients do not
directly come to hospitals, ambulances are now ready to attend to a patient s needs at any time or
any day. Treatment also improved. The conditions in which surgerywas performed in was
downright terrible and crude. Today, patients are met with comfy beds and clean, sanitary
environments to be treated in. The Civil War was a starting point or trigger for the medical field
to improve upon their work and set up an organized and knowledgeable field of medicine for
future generations to come. Overall, the Civil War made the hospital system more organized and
allowed for patients to access care more quickly and efficiently and set the precedents for future
aspiring doctors to follow in order to care for patients and give them the treatment they

Native American Graves Protection And Repatriation Act Essay
As persons travel through the state of Kansas, one would gather the sense that the state has a
history that began with the settlement of European Americans during the 19th Century as there
is little roadside advertising stating the contrary. Kansas, for centuries, was a land where many
Native American tribes that lived, fought, and died. Subsequently, the city of Wichita is a good
example of this. It is known as a large city of Kansas and not known as the name of a Native
American tribe. The fact of the matter is that the Wichita tribe aided in the establishment of a
trading post that led to the development of the current metropolitan city. One would be total
unaware that the state of Kansas played a major role in the Native American Graves Protection
and Repatriation Act (1990). Unless one drives by one of the tribal casinos, one would not be
aware that Kansas proudly has four Native American reservations. In reality, for centuries the
state of Kansas has held a rich history and future as a Native land. Kansas is a Native land
because prior to the European American settlement of Kansas, many Native American tribes
thrived within Kansas. The fact is, centuries ago, Kansas was occupied by Native Americans who
thrived in large villages or as flourishing nomads who followed the large herds of buffalo roaming
Kansas grasslands. The land, now called Kansas, had been home to many Native American peoples.

The Character Analysis Of Shameless As A Dramatic Comedy
Have you ever wanted to watch a dramatic comedy, but could never find the one ? I would highly
recommend Shameless for anyone one who is having trouble finding the one . There are many
television shows that can keep anyone entertained, but Shameless has all the right factors that are
needed to be a great dramatic comedy. Shameless is a good dramatic comedy because the
characters and situations are relatable to real life, the TV show has moral teachings, and it s
very suspenseful. One of the things that makes Shameless such a great dramatic comedy is how
the characters and situations are so relatable to real life. It s important for a TV show to make
the audience feel like they re connected to the characters as they deal with their situations in
each episode. There is evidence in every season that shows the relativity between the characters
and real life situations. For example, in season 6, episode 1; Frank is currently dealing with
losing a loved one, while both daughters, Fiona and Debbie are making decisions about their
pregnancy. Fiona begs for her little sister to do adoption or abortion. Debbie doesn t quite
understand how Knue 2 having a child while being fourteen, can ruin a lot of great opportunities
later. Fiona chooses to have an abortion since she cannot make enough money to support herself
or all her siblings. In addition to relatable characters and situations, Shameless also offers moral
teachings. How does a dramatic comedy offer moral teachings? Shameless provides many
examples on how drug and alcohol abuse affects a family home. There is also evidence on how
Shameless provides that. In season 4, episode 5; Fiona celebrates something good that has
happened, but not in a correct way. She decides to buy drugs, and leave them out where her little
brother, Liam, can get his hands on causing him to overdose. Fiona then faces the consequences
on the abuse of drugs, and the toll it can have on a family. Another prime example would be in
season 3, episode 7; Fiona fights for her rights to become legal guardian over her younger siblings
after being taken away from

Alternative Medicine, Alternative, Or Integrated Health
Everyday products are advertised claiming to be natural and cure any condition one may have.
Some of these products claim to be some ancient secrets with testimonials of people who say it
changed their life. These types of medicine are usually not proven and are called alternative
medicine, but are they safe? Alternative medicineis a growing trend, but most people don t realize
what harm could be done to their body by straying from conventional medicine. From the article
Complementary, Alternative, or Integrated Health from the Department of Health Human Services,
alternative medicine is an uncommon treatment in place of conventional medicine and has history
of use. These types of medicine are hard to find because if they are studied and proven to work
they are accepted into conventional medicine practices. It is important to research an alternative
before starting one and to consult a medical professional. It is also important to remember that some
alternative medicines may work differently on different people and could also not be effective for
some people. ( Complementary ). In the article Running the Numbers on Alternative Medicine
published in Time by Amanda Gengler, One third of Americans use some form of alternative
medicine. Insurance companies usually do not cover alternative medicines leaving the patient to
pay in full for their treatment ( Running the Numbers ). The cost and not being able to guarantee
that the treatment will work for them may be enough

Mission Command In Operation Desert Storm
Operations Desert Shield/Storm took place during the Gulf War, which was a conflict between
Iraq and a coalition force of more than 30 nations mandated by the United Nations, led by the
United States commanded by General Norman Schwarzkopf, who conducted one of the greatest
military campaigns of all times that resulted with the coalition victory. The name Operation Desert
Shield was for the operation leading to the built up of troops and defense of Saudi Arabiaand
Operation Desert Storm for the combat phase to liberate Kuwait. This war included more than
500.000 United States troops, dominated by technological superiority that definitely favored the
coalition forces. The use of missiles, guided bombs and invisible plane made easy to destroy
Iraqi ground targets, being so the first war in history to use the air power to defeat ground forces.
The commander of this operation General Schwarzkopf was a consolidated leader with great
experience in war and diplomacy, who had extend knowledge of the Middle East since the
childhood. General Schwarzkopf ability to use the principles of mission command led the coalition
into the desired end state, which was the defense of Saudi Arabia and liberation of Kuwait. General
Norman Schwarzkopf successfully utilized mission command principles within Operation Desert

the most part is a two player game. Each game has their strategies too ultimately win the game.
Egyptian Rat Slap or you can call it slap for short uses the full deck of cards besides the jokers.

Body Odour Creative Writing
The supply teacher, a middle aged man, one I recognised vaguely by voice and sight, but not by

odour and a strong metallic smell, which follows more often than not after injuries take place.
The familiar smell of blood is now an unpleasant effluvium that I recognise all too well
nowadays. Per usual, I have zoned out, like I often do whenever classes take a swift and sudden
turn, and an allowance for a violent outbreak. Being the smallest and possibly frailest girl in class

Costco: Marketing Audit
I. Company Description
In September of 1983, Costco Wholesale Corporation began operations in Seattle, Washington.
The company was founded by James Sinegal, current President and CEO of Costco, and Jeffrey

company called The Price Company to form Price/Costco, Inc. The Price Company was the first to
establish the concept of a membership warehouse. In 1999, the company changed its name to
Costco Wholesale Corporation and moved themselves back to Washington. Costco is currently one

Many retailers are setting limits and creating scarcity on products to entice their customers (Bick,
2007). For example, some retailers carry limited edition items that are unique to their stores, then
stock those items for a given amount of time. Companies are also competing to find efficient ways
to lower operating costs. The ability to lower operating costs gives retailers a competitive
advantage over their competitors. Selling products over the web is another key trend in the
industry. Costco alone expanded their sales of 59% over the internet (Annual Report 2006).
Competitors
There are over 1,178 warehouse club locations that exist across the U.S. and Canada, including
Costco s North American warehouses. There seems to be a warehouse club in every major city,
if not several club operations. Currently, the leading stores in the category of warehouse
membership clubs are Wal Mart s Sam s Club, Costco, and BJ s Wholesale Club (Lamb 409). Wal
Mart has become the largest retailer in the world and has expanded further into many other food
merchandising formats. Other significant competitors that have emerged into the market are
Target and Kohl s. Low cost operators selling single category narrow range of merchandise, such
as Lowe s, Home Depot, Office Depot, PetSmart, Best Buy, and Barnes Noble, has significant
market share in their respective categories (Annual Report 2006). These stores can be known as

  • 2. Who Is Fortunato Ignorant In Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe, Fortunato s character is shown as an ignorant, too trusting, and naive. I think this is because he must of been somewhat young. In the story Montresor says My dear Fortunato, you are luckily met. How remarkably well you are looking today. He puts up a good front acting friendly. Fortunato allows Montresor to lead him down into the catacombsthinking nothing of it. The reason I find that Fortunato is ignorant is that when Montresor insists on Fortunato going back up and out of the catacombs due to his coughing he refuses. Enough the cough is a mere nothing; it will not kill me. I will not die of a cough. Is what Fortunato s response is to Montresor s suggestion. Then Montresor offers him wine. ... • 3. Occupational Therapy Is A Way Of Changing Lives Essay Occupational therapy is a way of changing lives by means of improving skills used in daily activities and therefore increasing quality of life. Occupational therapy enhances everyday experiences for a diverse group of individuals ranging from infants to the elderly, including those with cognitive, developmental, mental, and physical disabilities. I am excited to pursue a career in occupational therapybecause I realized at a young age that occupational therapists understood my younger sister with Down syndrome in the same way that I did. They saw her first as a person with many strengths and abilities that they worked to build upon. OTs acknowledged her ideas and how she enjoyed playing, which they used as a basis for creating meaningful therapeutic activities. I observed OTs adapt the environment within my home to fit the wants and needs of my sister while understanding and developing her as a whole person throughout each therapy session. OTs tremendously impacted my sister s life by helping her with activities of daily living from infancy to young adulthood, such as learning to swallow, gripping a spoon, or figuring out modification strategies for getting dressed. For these reasons along with the foundation of a holistic approach to therapy, occupational therapists tend to be my favorite healthcare professionals involved in my sister s care. My personal experience along with my education, research, and professional experiences have led and prepared me to study occupational ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Jimi Hendrix Accomplishments Jimi Hendrix was called the greatest electric guitarist. He was someone who was determined to make his life worth his time. Hendrix wanted to go somewhere and he never stopped trying to get to where he wanted to be. He started from having absolutely nothing, he barely had a family at some points in his life. Then at the age Twenty Five he was standing on a stage in front of over half of a million people, who were there to see him. All he was, was a frustrated artist, trying to learn to read music. Jimi Hendrixwas one of the most inspiring and remarkable musicians of the rock era. James Allen Hendrix, who was better known as Al Hendrix was born in 1919, in Vancouver, Canada. He worked with an electric ensemble called Gypsy Sun and Rainbows; featuring himself, Mitch Mitchell, Billy Cox, Juma Sultan, and Jerry Velez (James Marshall Hendrix). Hendrix was to be closing the show, which was a very high honour, considering who was on the roster; The Band, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, Santana, The Who and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Sky and the Family Stone. Once Hendrix and his band finally took stage, the show was already running way over schedule. The 500,000 young crowd members were exhausted from a weekend full of huge performances and heavy rain. However when Hendrix started his set shortly after dawn on that Monday morning, instead of Sunday night, he amazed the mud soaked crowds and brought them to a frenzy with his performance (Unterberger 101). Hendrix performed his rock interpretation of The Star Spangled Banner. He astonished the audience with his performance, it was like no one has ever seen or heard before, one of a kind (Jimi Hendrix ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. A Rose For Emily Mental Analysis Clarissa Rojas Eng Comp II Prof. Goldberg 17 March 2017 Prompt # 3 Reading A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner is truly an interesting story. This is the first time I read about a character having a mental illness that made impressed me and engage to read more. Emily is a simple girl who was left alone with nothing by her dead strict father. In the story, she was very reclusive and secretive with her life. She then, murdered her lover, Homer. She slept with his corpse until she died. Emily s mental behavior are caused by few people in her life. This includes her father and the townspeople. The closest people with Emily is her father. Because of Emily being the last in line from the well known Grierson family, she is recognized by the every person in town. The townspeople played a role of investigating Emily s cause of mental behavior. But because Emily is considered a high class person, it gave a reason for the people of Jefferson to avoid the obvious clues that Emily is mentally displaced and was mentally unstable, due to her father s death, and capable of premeditated murder. Emily s story and situation was caused by a number of outlook. Though it is most likely being her segregation from herself to the world. Emily s father s way of bringing her up and teaching her in life which was a wrong way a parent could do by secluding her from the outside world and preventing anyone from courting her. Instead of helping her grow and live her life, she couldn t and she was raised that way by her father so she thinks that it is what is the right thing to do. Her behavior was certainly psychotic. • 6. The Discovery Of The Night Now when the fourteenth night had come, as we were driven up and down in the Adriatic Sea, about midnight the sailors sensed that they were drawing near some land...When it was day, they did not recognize the land; but they observed a bay with a beach, onto which they planned to run the ship if possible. But striking a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground. (Acts 27: 27 44 This is Luke s account of the shipwreck that Paul experienced in the Adriatic Sea, near the Island of Malta as he made his way by ship to Rome with two hundred seventy five other people aboard. A fourteen night storm had beaten the ship until it was falling apart; however, before it sank, the wind pushed it within swimming distance of the Island of Malta. Upon seeing land, the centurion told those who could swim to jump into the water and swim to land. Then he told the others to grab a board and float to the shore and their safety. Amazingly, they all safely escaped to land. I doubt not that of all of us have experienced hard times in our lives. Life can be perplexing, especially when it appears that we have reached the end of our rope and there is no visible way out of the situation. Tragically, some people have given up all hope and acted foolishly. Our difficulties are often self imposed; however, problems can be brought upon us by the actions of other people. Nonetheless, regardless of how the difficulty came about, one problem can be just as frightening as the other. Those on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Spanish Dancer Essay Joan MirГі s Danseuse Espagnole, or Spanish Dancer, is a famous Surrealist painting. The painting gives an abstract, formless representation of the titular Spanish Dancer and was originally presented as a part of a set of three Spanish themed paintings by MirГі in l945. Spanish Dancer shows how deeply MirГі was influenced by his Spanish heritage and shows his dedication to destroying the way his art was previously perceived by presenting an almost unrecognizable abstract form of a familiar subject. Being a Spanish artist, MirГі was often influenced by Spanish culture. In the case of Spanish Dancer, MirГі drew inspiration from flamenco dancers. The dancer in the painting is shapeless, representing the high energy of the sensual Spanish dance. Spanish Dancer is an oil on canvas painting by artist Joan MirГі dated 1945. Surrealism was an intellectual, artistic, and literary movement that lasted from 1924 through the end of World War II. Surrealism opposed rational thought and placed great significance on the subconscious mind and dreams. • 8. Nitration of Methyl Benzoate NITRATION
OF
METHYL
BENZOATE

 Purpose:
The main objective of this experiment was to synthesize methyl nitrobenzoate from methyl benzoate, using the mixture of nitric and sulfuric acid by performing the process of electrophillic aromatic substitution. During this reaction, the combination of HNO3 and H2SO4 made a nitrating solution. The crystallization was done to accomplish pure product. The melting point and Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) were performed to test the purity of the product. Using the methyl benzoate reaction product, methyl nitrobenzoate, one can determine the meta substituted, para substituted and orthosubstituted of the final products. Furthermore, HNMR and IR used to investigate the quality of the product.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This would indicate that during the recrystallization there was a reduction in the percentage yield of the production. The obtained final product melting point rang was 76.2 780C. This would show that the experimental melting point was very close to the literature value of 78 80В°C which denotes the meta substituted of the product. So, the analysis of the melting point confirmed that the product was methyl meta nitrobenzoate as it was anticipated. Additionally, use of the melting point analysis shows that NO2 group could be added to the methyl benzoate at the meta position successfully. The ortho and para products could have been also analyzed during the experiment; however, they were not chosen for the product (methyl benzoate) because they have unstable resonance forms that have positive charges near one another. The two positive charges that are next to one another can make the product to be unstable and as result ortho and para substituted products are not favorable in this electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction. Also, an IR of the product confirmed that methyl m nitrobenzoate as a favorable. A peak located at 1536.1cm showed of the Aromatic C=C. At the 1351.8cm 1 there is a 1 presence of NO2. • 9. Hydraulic Fracturing Of Natural Gas From Deep Below The... Fracking, also known as hydraulic fracturing involves the extraction of natural gas from deep below the ground. A shaft is drilled into the ground followed by a horizontal well hole that flows to the gas layer of the earth. The well is divided into smaller sections and these sections are fractured in sections. Fracking fluid (7 million litres of water is used, several thousand tonnes of sand and 200,000 tonnes of chemicals (de Rijke, 2013)) is then pumped into the ground at high velocity. Cracks are produced in the rocks, the sand in the mixture prevents cracks from closing again. The water is then pumped out and natural gasis now easily obtained. (BBC News, 2016). Fracking is a hot debate in Scotland, with labour issuing a firm no on the issue to undergo fracking as of March 2016 (BBC News, 2016). Also, in Northern Ireland, Taboran Resources has an interest to undertake fracking located on an area that is on the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland (Raeng.org.uk, 2016). Two of the main companies involved in fracking in the UK include, Cuadrilla and Igas. Many protests have been carried out to object to the fracking issue. Igas say that there are many new investment opportunities, for example a ВЈ2.3 billion steel requirement in Britain, a ВЈ4.1 billion waste, storage and transportation requirement and a skills and specialised equipment requirement of ВЈ17 billion. (Igasplc.com, 2016). As of December 2012 there have been two planning applications for fracking processes by Cuadrilla, at Prestion New Road and Roseacre Wood, before Lancashire City council and they will frack for shale gas if it is approved. (British Geological Survey, 2015). Many of the issues involved with fracking arise from the use of fracking in the US. There are many positive outlooks when it comes to fracking; Shale gas is not found all over the UK, only in certain areas. There is said to be a plentiful supply of shale, with Cuadrilla stating that there is 5.7 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Rodney King Trial And Verdict We are fools to think racism is something of the past. Racism is very much alive in this century as it was in the last century. The Rodney King trial and verdict will forever be identified as a moment in recent history that outraged the diverse residents of Los Angeles County and the rest of America. Not only did it expose the police brutality African Americans endure, but it showed the discrimination of a jury mostly made of white people. My family lived in Los Angeles during the late 80 s and into the 90 s, and they still remember how dangerous walking in the streets was during those years. The police did not only discriminate African Americans, they also victimized Mexican Americans. The Rodney King trial and verdict of 1992 generated riots across Los Angeles after four police officers accused of beating King were acquitted. The verdict revealed the unjust racial treatment towards African Americans and it became a symbol of police brutality and injustice that is still seen today. Rodney King was a black motorist who was beaten and arrested by four white police officers in Los Angeles on March 3, 1991. The policemen were unaware of being filmed until, George Holliday, captured the beating on videotape from his apartment window and released it to the press (Alexander, Jacobs, and Seidman, 2000). This incident was not a shock to individuals living in the Los Angeles County as it was common to be victimized by policemen. The difference in Rodney King s case with other ... • 12. A Research Study On Finance And Economics Two years ago while I offered a research job at Cambridge in applied economics, one of my friends jokingly quipped that one day I would be the next Raghuram Rajan, who had just taken over as the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India following his academic position. I smiled as I had then not considered the possibility of becoming an academic who could wield such power in designing policies to govern the financial institution of the world s largest democracy. In retrospect, this does not seem very far from the truth with respect to my long term career goals. I consider it a privilege to contribute meaningful work that would improve the financial standards in my country. My interest in a quantitative field like finance and economicscomes as no surprise, since Mathematics is one of my favorite subjects and my forte right from secondary school. The power of these subjects to cater to practical applications in the real world setting led to my close involvement with them, which was also instrumental for my qualifying for the Indian National Mathematics Olympiad. For my undergraduate studies, I chose Mechanical Engineering over the other options, at one of the top universities for this discipline in my country, due to its significant quantitative content and for the possibility of applying those tools to solving complex problems, which I did. There was a lot of controversy about whether Rigoberta deserved the Nobel Peace Prize, and if this book should be taught to students. There are allegations that she fabricated a lot of the story. People say that the book is not an accurate portrayal of her life. (ix) The prize was awarded to MenchГє not for her testimony but for her later political work and peace organizing.Specifically, Stoll s research leads him to confirm the following information in MenchГє s testimony. In her testimony Rigoberta states that her father was burned alive when the army attacked the Spanish Embassy he was occupying to protest human rights abuses, an occurrence that is widely known in Guatemala. Stoll believes MenchГє s account of the events at the embassy is more balanced than most others. The non Japanese Americans were mistreated; over 120,000 of them were rounded up and placed into one of ten internment camps, or as the government liked to call them due to its more pleasant sounding name, relocation centers . The conditions in these camps were subpar. They were overcrowded and had poor living conditions. It was an unprivileged life living in these camps; internees shared large barracks with many other internees, similar to what you would see in an army boot camp. (Siasoco and Ross) While the America government considered it necessary, using the excuse that it was for their own protection, the Japanese Americans were not allowed to leave these camps, showing that it was much more than protection . The conflicting side, were the non Japanese Americans. Anti Japanese propaganda became abundant and instilled fear and paranoia into their hearts. Family Counseling By Dr. Berger The Jarrett family was referred to family counseling by Dr. Berger, to address the family s breakdown in communication brought on by grief, after losing the oldest son in a tragic accident and the events that followed. The Jarrett s are an upper middle class white family that live in Forest Hills, Illinois. Calvin, the father, age 41, is an attorney in a well established law firm in Chicago. He has been acting as the mediator between Beth and Conrad. He was emotional about the loss of his son, Buck, and is concerned about Conrad s mental health after his suicide attempt. Throughout the marriage Beth has decreed who Calvin will be as a husband and father; on the day of Buck s funeral she criticized Calvin s choice of shoes he was wearing and demanded that he change them. Calvin also has a poorly differentiated self ; he will quickly conform to Beth s demands because he also craves approval. She demands that her children be and act perfect. When Buck was little, before Conrad was born, Beth formed a very tight bond with Buck, that seemed to push Calvin out of the happy little triangle that was their family. Beth s pregnancy with Conrad was difficult; morning sickness, high blood pressure and a difficult labor and delivery. Beth does not have the same bond with Conrad as she did with Buck. Since Bucks death, Beth has withdrawn from any connect she might have had with Conrad; at times ignoring him when they are in the same room together, being irritated if Calvin wants to share his concerns about their son s emotional state and refusing to even be in a picture with Conrad. Calvin s alliance with Beth begins to shift when he begins to realize that Beth is not the person he thought she was. He wonders if she cannot not even find a little compassion for their son, who is hurting so much; can she even love. As Calvin and Conrad begin to form a stronger bond Beth becomes stauncher in her beliefs that Conrad is the cause of the turmoil in the family. Calvin begins to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One security technique used by organizations to protect their computer systems from security threats is encryption this is a method used by organizations to send data to others it works by using special mathematical algorithms to convert the data into scrambled code before transmission and when the data is received it is decoded when an authorized user accesses it. One security technique is protecting systems with usernames and passwords to access any equipment, wireless networks and sensitive data should be guarded with unique usernames and passwords for each member of staff, this is for two reasons it is an added layer of security so if someone hacks in they have to get passed the password and it also allows companies to see what exactly their employees are accessing, also the passwords that are used should be very strong so the passwords should include numbers, letters and symbols and not have standard dictionary terms or dates such as birthdays which are easy to guess. In my opinion, usernames and passwords are very effective because it makes it harder for hackers to hack in and it allows companies to keep an eye on employees for example they will be able to see what files they are accessing and if they are a risk to the company. Journalism and writing have not been lifelong loves of mine, and throughout high school I was a math and science student. I took an introductory journalism course as a senior in high school, and I quickly learned that journalismis more than writing about yourself and topics you like. Even with the light requirements of the class, I got my first taste of the process of writing a story. When I arrived to campus, I decided to apply to the journalism program in hopes of simply becoming a better writer, regardless of what I would end up studying. Nearly three years later, I am thankful that I decided to take the first steps toward becoming a better writer. The undergraduate journalism classes I took piqued my interest in the field, and the potential graduate courses at Columbia will culminate my learning experience. As an undergraduate, I was particularly influenced by a class I took during the 2016 election. The class was described as a seminar discussion on recent election news, but it turned out to be something entirely different. I soon found out that the class was going to be responsible for creating and maintaining a new website similar to Politifact. Looking at the magnitudes of the quakes, you might think Chile received the worst of it, but after further inspection, you may not be so sure. There are many types of structures that an organization might have, each of them comes with its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Let us look at the benefits and drawbacks of three (or rather, five) of the more modern structures. Matrix organizations One of the biggest challenges for employees in a matrix organization is the fact that they have to report to multiple managers. With employees directly reporting to two or more supervisors, these supervisors need to be highly coordinated with one another to make sure that they re giving consistent orders. Otherwise, employees may be given orders from different managers that are very difficult to follow in unison. Even worse, orders from different managers can outright conflict. Employees can t follow these orders because they re mutually exclusive. This causes ambiguity and confusion as to what the employee should do. This problem can be avoided with high levels of communication and coordination between department managers and project managers though. If these managers can stay on the same page, they can have a much clearer picture of where to lead employees and they can put up a unified front. In that way, instructions from either manager that a given employee reports to can give orders consistent with the orders given by the other manager, and the employee will be able to follow the lead of both managers simultaneously. • 40. The Theme Of Indecision In Hamlet By William Shakespeare To be or not be that is the question. That is the question Hamlet is tormented by throughout the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare. Should I live? Should I die? Should I take revenge for my father s death? These are all the internal struggles Hamlet is trying to combat within himself. Also, Hamlet tends to have a conflict with every member of the play. His indecision is followed by his inaction. The reason for this struggle with indecision can be based on many factors life presents for Hamlet. At the beginning of the play, Hamlet spoke to a ghost which was his father, the dead king. The king confessed that Claudius, the king s brother that is now married to Hamlet s mother, killed him. Hamlet s first soliloquy (1.2) reveal Hamlet s melancholy towards his mother s actions, Why, she would hang on him as if increase of appetite had grown by what it fed on, and yet, within a month let me not on t; frailty, thy name is woman . • 41. For The Past Forty Years, Ohio Is Believed To Have Gone For the past forty years, Ohio is believed to have gone through a process of deindustrialization. This means that Ohio experienced a decline in manufacturing jobs. While this is a simple definition, the origins of the term deindustrialization gives a deeper, more pejorative meaning to the term. This darker meaning to the term is perhaps more effectively conveyed through the term rust belt. After Ohiowen through the process of deindustrialization, the lack of industrial jobs in a once booming industrial area left many factories empty and decommissioned. As these factories became older and unused, their rusting facades became a symbol of the deindustrialization that Ohio experienced, leading someone to coin the term rust belt for the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The term traces its roots back to World War II. The concept of deindustrialization began in Nazi Germany. The Nazis described the areas that they had invaded in conquered in this way. This is because they eliminated any industry from the areas that they took over, forcing these states to become dependent upon Germany for economic and industrial development. This philosophy was also used as a punishment for those countries, showing the power of Nazi Germany. After the end of the war, the Allies began to use the term deindustrialization , as well. Essentially taking the definition from the Nazis, they used this term in discussions of how to punish Nazi Germany in post war rebuilding plans. Regardless of who was using the term in World War II, there was always a negative connotation attached to it. Rather than simply saying that it meant a decline in manufacturing jobs for an area, the term was used as a punishment and a show of power. In its origins, deindustrialization was used by the winners of a conflict to describe how they would take away industry from the losing nation or state. For this reason, it can be seen how the term developed a negative connotation. The term grew tremendously in usage around the 1970s, when factories began to downsize what would become known as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The term auteur theory, originating in France in the 1950 s, is a French word that means author and in the world of cinema that would mean the director is the one who is the major creative force behind the film. As stated in the article The Auteur Theory, the term author carries another association namely, the idea of a lone, individual creator. With the word auteur being involved it means that the director is not only the one in charge of directing the film, he would have say or input of other mediums like for instance a painter or a writer. Osteoporosis is characterized as a disease of the bones whereas the bones becomes weak and very fragile. Many people with this disease often break bones within the hip, spine, and wrist. The bones are easily broken from a minor fall or, in severe cases, from a simple sneeze. The meaning of osteoporosis is porous bone. When looking at a healthy bone under a microscope, you will find the resemblance of a honeycomb. Far as osteoporosis, those holes and spaces in a honeycomb are much larger than a healthy bone (National Osteoporosis Foundation). Magnitude of Problem Within America, osteoporosis presently affects approximately 10 million people and is responsible for more than 1.5 million fractures annually (Societal Burden of Osteoporosis). About 54 million Americans have osteoporosis and low bone mass which makes them at high risk for the disease (NOF). This disease holds a substantial financial burden with annual direct cost ranging from 17 to 20 billion dollars. Because of the consistent growth in age among the population, the prevalence and number of osteoporosis fractures will continue to increase (SBO). Worldwide, osteoporosis has an estimated total of affecting 200 million women, one tenth of women aged 60, one fifth of women aged 70, two fifths of women aged 80, and two thirds of women aged 90. Since trapped ions already have fundamentally low levels of coherent error, suppression of that error in a scaled quantum computerrequires significantly less error correction. No military leader or general surgeonhad planned for such a large scale conflict. • 49. The Character Analysis Of Shameless As A Dramatic Comedy Have you ever wanted to watch a dramatic comedy, but could never find the one ? I would highly recommend Shameless for anyone one who is having trouble finding the one . There are many television shows that can keep anyone entertained, but Shameless has all the right factors that are needed to be a great dramatic comedy. Shameless is a good dramatic comedy because the characters and situations are relatable to real life, the TV show has moral teachings, and it s very suspenseful. One of the things that makes Shameless such a great dramatic comedy is how the characters and situations are so relatable to real life. It s important for a TV show to make the audience feel like they re connected to the characters as they deal with their situations in each episode. There is evidence in every season that shows the relativity between the characters and real life situations. For example, in season 6, episode 1; Frank is currently dealing with losing a loved one, while both daughters, Fiona and Debbie are making decisions about their pregnancy. Fiona begs for her little sister to do adoption or abortion. Debbie doesn t quite understand how Knue 2 having a child while being fourteen, can ruin a lot of great opportunities later. Fiona chooses to have an abortion since she cannot make enough money to support herself or all her siblings. In addition to relatable characters and situations, Shameless also offers moral teachings. How does a dramatic comedy offer moral teachings? Shameless provides many examples on how drug and alcohol abuse affects a family home. There is also evidence on how Shameless provides that. In season 4, episode 5; Fiona celebrates something good that has happened, but not in a correct way. She decides to buy drugs, and leave them out where her little brother, Liam, can get his hands on causing him to overdose. Fiona then faces the consequences on the abuse of drugs, and the toll it can have on a family.
