certain positions. It all depends on how knowledge is applied and how we choose to share that
knowledge in order to benefit ourselves as well as others. We go through 12 years of schooling before
we reach college. Some may feel as if high school is it for them and they have retained all of the
information they need and have learned the proper amount of knowledge needed in order to be
successful in life. However, for others, their path in life is different. Some need to further in

Stereotypes In Engineering
Engineering has historically been viewed as a man s job. In recent years the Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) community has made more pointed efforts to recruit women.
While the process of aggressively seeking out women is taking place, the perception of what it means
to be an engineer remains skewed. Since the perception has changed about engineering, societal views
are pushed towards a generic understanding of what it means to be an engineer. Problems in recruiting
women engineers can exemplify the differences in society we don t often discuss such as merit and
opportunity.
The issue of men having a higher percentage of STEM field workers is not new news. The percentage
of women in engineering has not been dramatically impacted in years. A study conducted by Rachel
Dzombak, in 2016 at Penn State University describes why. Throughout the study, the ratio of women
to men was one in five. The ratio of tenured or tenured tracked faculty of women to men was about

CVD encompasses sub diseases that affect the heart and the circulatory system. Myocardial infarction
is a life threatening product of CVD and is commonly known as a heart attack. Blood flow is occluded
to a section of the heart in response to thrombus which is a blood clot formed in the vessel. The
occluded section results in heart muscle death (Swain, 2013, p.619). Every year, an average of
785,000 United States citizens die from a myocardial infarction; of those: 470,000 will have a
recurrent episode (Balady et al., 2011). Within five years of the initial myocardial infarction 22% of
men and women will suffer a fatal myocardial infarction or fatal coronary heart disease (CHD)
(Balady et al., 2011). Cardiac rehabilitation is a form of secondary prevention used post myocardial
infarction, with chronic stable angina, heart failure, coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) or
percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA). Cardiac rehabilitation aims to stabilize the
condition, slow the progressive rate of the disease, and in some instances reverse CVD (Balady et al.,

In the Business Ethics Foundation Terms class (September 2nd 2014), we discussed the ethical
implications of the Bhopal disaster on December 2nd and 3rd, 1983. A plant that belonged to Union
Carbide subsidiary had a chemical explosion, killing 10,000 lives (conservatively) and affecting the
livelihood of local and their descendants. Although many reasons have been offered up to try to
explain this disaster such as the poor establishment of the manufacturing plant, less stringent labor
laws, non exist environment laws, as well as the negligence in educating the public and medical
facilities in Bhopal about the fatality of the pesticide. It is my opinion that the government should also
have placed strict boundary rules to limit populations moving into the possible disaster zone. The
government of India s negligence lies in one or both of the following: not assessing the risk of
building a manufacturing plant close to a populated city, ignoring the assessed risk inherent in the
chemicals being manufactured, and jeopardizing the environment and population of Bhopal. This is
not to say that the Union Carbide and its subsidiary were blameless, however the Government of India
s lack of responsibility for its citizens can be proved when they underrepresented the victims in the

My Observation Of Andy s Behavior
I observed a parent teacher conference for Andy. Andy attended the meeting along with
his parents and sister. The conference was for Andy s behavior. Andy was not following
directions and wanted to do his own thing. Both Ms. McComb and I had talked to Andy about
his behavior and he still did not correct his behavior. Andy also was not truly doing his work on
tests he would just Christmas tree the answers and he did minimal work on his other
assignments. This was a big concern for FCAT later in the year.

After watching the movie Apollo 13, all I can take away is irritation, several unanswered questions,
and poorly explained minute details relating to traveling in space. While some details are easy to
understand, such as the effects of gravity on weight and the effects of space travel on the human body,
many instances of scientific references are made under the presumption that the viewer understands
what is being said. Along with the inability to detail the process of achieving space travel, the details
they did include were often inaccurate, for example the display of evident sexism. While this movie
did roughly indulge in the chronicles of previous space missions and the tension between the United
States and Russia in the on going Space Race , there is very little mention of the science behind the
mission, making this more of a poorly represented history movie than a scientific examination into the
world of NASA, the Kennedy Space Center, and the mission of Apollo 13. Before explaining
inconsistencies in the movie s portrayal of the Apollo 13 mission, it can be said that it had brief
shining moments of informative narration. One of these highlights is the references made to the
ongoing fight between Russia and the United States over who will conquer in technological
advancements. The beginning of the movie really detailed why it was important for the astronauts and
scientists involved in the Apollo 13 mission to complete another trip to the moon. Other small
