Mbuti Culture Mbuti primary mode of subsistence is Foraging. A forager lives as hunter and gatherer.
The Mbuti hunt and gather food from the forest, and they trade as well for survival. They are referred
as hunter gatherer. They are a small band of kinship groups that are mobile. All foraging communities
value their lifestyle. The Mbuti show how their kinships, beliefs and values, and economic
organization are the key for their forager culture. In the forager societies kinship is one of the key
importance of the lifestyle. Mbuti are called the people of the forest, who believe they are the children
of the forest. Their beliefs and values are very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They work hard to feed their families. They value the idea of a family and working together. That is
why their leisure time is so important. Leisure time is used to spend time with the kin and friends, the
foraging societies believe (Nowak and Laird, 2010). They work hard to find food and hunt for a
couple of days and rest of the time is for leisure activities. The Mbuti have ritual that they do during
their leisure time. They have a ceremony called molimo. It is performed by the men and is associated
with singing and the use of a trumpet called the molimo (Nowak and Laird, 2010). The molimo
ceremony used the molimo, a strictly forest institution, which young men are initiated after they have
become successful hunters (Lee, pg. 244). This is how most of the leisure time goes to, the family. The
forager culture has high value for working together and sharing (Nowak and Laird, 2010). Those
values show how their economic organization works wells. They see economic importance as cultural
tradition. This is how they survive also. It is easy for forager to move place to place because they don t
have many material items. That is what makes the exchange process so easy also. The reciprocal
economic systems are a form of exchange of goods and services that occurs between members of a
kinship group (Nowak and Laird, 2010). Foraging societies has a similar way of using this system.

Garden City And Garden City
Introduction
In late 19th, because of a dramatic increase of population, increasing urbanization and
industrialization, cities had been overcrowded and the environment was being destroyed as well.
Furthermore, more and more people moved to the urban cities from rural area for having more job
opportunities. Consequently, cities were over centralizing. It is contributed to the slums in city which
is the cause of disease breaking out. It leads to the decrease of human s life quality in urban cities.
Moudon (1997) points out that control by the private sector, unhealthy rapid economic growth,
overcrowding, poor sanitation, poor housing, weak government control, unorderly and unplanned
improvement, diseases epidemics and increased public health ... Show more content on

These cities would have adequate space of residential habitation, industrial work and agricultural
production. In order to shift people who moving to the urban cites to the suburbs, a concept of garden
city setting was coming out by Ebenezer Howard. His idea was inspired by the utopian wave which
existed from mid and the close of 19th century. Howard (1902) idealized that in garden city, a 6,000
acre site would have 32,000 people living in. Furthermore, there was a sustaining potential which is
the limit of the population density in garden city plan, so they would build a new garden city nearby
when another city has reached the limit. In Howard s book, there is a central city surrounded by lots of
garden cities which could afford 50,000 people. Roads and rail is the way linking those garden cities.
The aim of garden city planning is to create a beautiful, sociable and healthy communities with both a
good natural environment and high quality of housing affordability. A combination of the active and
energetic city lifestyle with the delight and the beauty of the countryside was the way to achieve it.
Moreover, in order to well organize the garden city movement, a concept of town, country, and town
country magnets was published in Howard s book. According to Howard (1902), different magnets
have different characteristics. Town magnet with refers to urban city is presenting high

Solzhenitsyn s A Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, whose stubborn, lonely and combative literary struggles gained the force of
prophecy as he revealed the heavy afflictions of Soviet Communism in some of the most powerful
works of the 20th century, died late on Sunday at the age of 89 in Moscow.
His son Yermolai said the cause was a heart ailment.
Mr. Solzhenitsyn outlived by nearly 17 years the Soviet state and system he had battled through years
of imprisonment, ostracism and exile.
Mr. Solzhenitsyn had been an obscure, middle aged, unpublished high school science teacher in a
provincial Russian town when he burst onto the literary stage in 1962 with A Day in the Life of Ivan
Denisovich. The book, a mold breaking novel about a prison camp inmate, was a sensation. ... Show

They stopped publication of his new works, denounced him as a traitor and confiscated his
manuscripts.
A Giant and a Victim
But their iron grip could not contain Mr. Solzhenitsyn s reach. By then his works were appearing
outside the Soviet Union, in many languages, and he was being compared not only to Russia s literary
giants but also to Stalin s literary victims, writers like Anna Akhmatova, Iosip Mandleshtam and Boris
Pasternak.
At home, the Kremlin stepped up its campaign by expelling Mr. Solzhenitsyn from the Writer s Union.
He fought back. He succeeded in having microfilms of his banned manuscripts smuggled out of the
Soviet Union. He addressed petitions to government organs, wrote open letters, rallied support among
friends and artists, and corresponded with people abroad. They turned his struggles into one of the
most celebrated cases of the cold war period.
Hundreds of well known intellectuals signed petitions against his silencing; the names of left leaning
figures like Jean Paul Sartre carried particular weight with Moscow. Other supporters included
Graham Greene, Muriel Spark, W. H. Auden, Gunther Grass, Heinrich Boll, Yukio Mishima, Carlos
Fuentes and, from the United States, Arthur Miller, John Updike, Truman Capote and Kurt Vonnegut.
All joined a call for an international cultural boycott of the Soviet

The Use Of Force Analysis
The Use of Force by William Carlos Williams is told from the first person point of view which allows
a reader to see the changes in the doctor s mind as he transitions from professional to completely
unprofessional. The doctor goes from being a professional concerned with a young girl s health to an
animalistic, pedophilic, instinct driven person. At the beginning, the doctor goes to the patient s home
where he is met with a poverty stricken family. The family is clean despite their living conditions. The
parents are very concerned for their daughter s health as the doctor notes they are spending three
dollars on his visit to know what is wrong with her. The young girl, named Matilda, has had a fever
and the doctor knows that there has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning of the story, the doctor can not help but notice the young girl s attractiveness and her
magnificent blond hair, in profusion . He notes that her looks are those of advertisement worthy
children and that her stare infatuates him. Later during the battle the doctor puts a phallic tongue
depressor in the child s throat to which she fought so desperately with clenched teeth she ended up
breaking the tongue depressor in her mouth and caused it to start bleeding. The doctor, instead of
acknowledging that he is actually hurting Matilda, becomes furious at her and thinks I tried to hold
myself down but I couldn t . This is a young girl bleeding from the mouth and a vision of pure terror,
yet the doctor only becomes more violent, determined and aroused by the power. The doctor thinks to
himself that he knows he should have let the child be and have tried again in an hour or so when she
had calmed down, yet his instincts tell him we re going through with this. . The doctor is fully aware
that he has become irrational and unprofessional as he thinks, I too had got beyond reason. I could
have torn the child apart in my own fury and enjoyed it. It was a pleasure to attack her. My face was
burning with it. . This is a blatant example of dominant sexual force. He justifies his feelings by
saying he must protect the damned little brat

The Chronic and Incurale Disease of Alzheimers Essay
What is Alzheimer s? It is a disease that affects the central nervous system, digestive system, the
neuromuscular system and is generally a disease that is chronic and incurable. 4.7 million people
greater than the age of 65 live with the disease each and every day, which is approximately one tenth
of the population for those over the age of 65. The most common questions are: what are the risk
factors, which vary from person to person, whether or not there are signs and symptoms and has there
been any testing and diagnosis on this disease. Well the first question usually asked by a vast majority
of those in the age range for such a disease is am I at risk for Alzheimer s. First you need to know the
risk factors involved when discussing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are so many signs and symptoms that correlate to the Alzheimer s disease, which include but are
not limited to: having a worsened ability to take in and remember new information, impairments to
reasoning and changes in personal behavior. Usually those who have Alzheimer s will have a hard
time taking in and remembering new information, meaning they will ask repetitive questions or start
conversations that were previously mentioned. A lot of times they will also misplace their personal
belongings and may even forget important appointments or their grand children s baseball game.
When you have the Alzheimer s disease you may also find out that you get lost very easily on a
commonly traveled route. Finally the question everybody wants an answer to, are there tests that can
be done to find out if I have Alzheimer s and if I do have it is there a diagnosis of this disease? Before
go too far it should be known that there is not a single test for this disease and finding out if you have
it can be a very strenuous procedure. A doctor can do any number of things from taking down the
history of your family to arranging for brain scans to be done. The things that are most commonly
done however are: taking down family history, doing a physical examination and even doing cognitive
testing. Even in recent studies is has been found that using peanut butter can help diagnose the

Adoption In The Chosen Baby
James and Martha Brown went to Mrs. White s office the next day and found waiting for them a
bouncing baby girl with soft brown eyes and a happy smile. Right away they said, We love this baby
already (Wasson). As is stated in the classic children s book, The Chosen Baby, this story serves as a
common introductory tool that some adoptive families use to explain to their children the way their
family was created. The Chosen Baby shares the absolute joy that parents experience when adopting a
child and effectively helps children better understand their family dynamics. Adoptive families are
unique in that they choose their children, creating a loving foundation for a nurturing home. Although
a chosen family would appear to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfulfilled basic needs create a violation to a child s belief system. Often times, adopted children
experience voided space inside as well as an unfathomable sense of disarray (Eldridge, 62). Carla
Duncan, a 1968 adoptee, recently expressed in a personal interview her mixed emotions:
Being adopted is like a double edge sword in that on one side, I have always felt very special to say, I
am adopted , because I was chosen and hand picked. On the other hand, however, I feel different
because I am adopted. In order to be chosen, I had to realize that someone also rejected me. Someone
did not want me. Sometimes I would look for long periods of time at myself in the mirror, wondering
who it was that I was really seeing. This feeling grew with great intensity as I became a teenager and
felt that no one really understood me.
Duncan, as is proven typical of other adoptees, has also experienced the common need to express her
adoption story, only to be let down at the un interest of peers. Misunderstanding often exists as a
residual psychological effect among adoptees (Eldridge, 91). With good intentions, adoptive parents
and other influential people may unknowingly contribute to the adoptee s mixed emotions. Indeed,
simple words and statements have the ability to negatively cut to the heart, tearing down emotions. A
common misconception often used to encourage a chosen child may

Passion And Religion In Equus By Peter Shaffer
When you look up the word passion there happens to be two completely different definitions. One
definition, the most common one, says that passion is a strong and barely controllable emotion.
However when you look right below it there is another definition that reads, passion is the suffering
and death of Jesus. In the play Equus by Peter Shaffer, you see how intertwined the ideas of passion,
worship and religion are. A schizophrenic 17 year old boy named Alan lives his life in the grey area
between these two definitions and ultimately combines them to make one. Dysart, a psychologist, tries
to help Alan distinguish the differences between these two separate ideas. But, by helping him to
become what many people would call normal, he could destroy the passion that he so envies in Alan.
Dysart sees the beauty in the disease that allows Alan to feel something special even if it is for the
wrong reasons, and he ultimately feels that he is the one to blame for squashing the passion. ... Show

mother that sexuality and religion come as one. This makes Alan believe religion and sexuality come
together as one, and because his father changed the picture, he almost changes from worshipping god
into an awe of horses. Dalton s stables are his shrines and the horses are his Gods.** In this play the
ideas of worship and passion co exist due to the idea that Alan has a passion for worshipping horses.

The Olympics Between Dark Millennium And The Iron Age
Introduction
In the past one hundred years, a large number of Bronze Age seal have continuously unearthed in the
Gulf region. Through the excavation and research of these finds, archaeologists have found that these
seals can reflect the economic, political and cultural development of the Gulf states in the Bronze Age.
The Bronze Age is the time between Dark Millennium and the Iron Age, c. 3200 1300 BC, which, in
archaeology, are usually divided into four periods:
1) Late Bronze Age (1600 1300 BC)
2) Wadi Suq (2000 1600 BC)
3) Umm al Nar (2500 2000 BC)
4) Hafit (3200 2500 BC)

In ancient times, the convenience of geography made communication possible which is undeniable,
however, there are different opinions on the direction, intensity and breadth of the exchange.
Examples of long distance exchange in prehistory (Reade, 2008): Copal beads; Goat bones and Clove
head.
The most significant exchange is economy including local trade and interregional trade. As Reade
(2008) suggested above that the importance of the overland trade between east and west was equal to
the maritime trade via Persian Gulf, nonetheless ships had dozens of advantages over caravan. While
the most widely accepted view is the seafaring trade route is more important, especially for the trade
exchange between Mesopotamia and Indus via Bahrain ().
From a political point of view, after comparing Dilmun seals and the contemporary royal cap of
Mesopotamia, Højlund (2000) believe that the seal imitated the shape of the royal cap, and thereby it
was endowed with the power of king and the authority of gods. Conversely, some other researches
states that, as an example of Dilmun society, as a means of organizing trade and social management,
seals are used by both individuals and officials (Larsen, 2010).

Physical Therapy And Mental Therapy
Can you imagine being in pain every day doing daily activities that have to be done? Your stiff joints,
sore muscles, and injured limbs keep you from enjoying life. Physical therapy can be the answer to
cure those problems. Physical Therapists, are trained in movement and movement disorders and are
considered specialists in musculoskeletal function (Adams). Physical therapists examine patients to
diagnosis possible injuries where pain is occurring and create plans to get them returning to activity.
Physical therapy will help improve mobility, balance, and is a way to avoid surgery. It is the cost
effective way to go and will help speed up recovery and prevent future injuries to. Physical therapy is
a beneficial part of the health field.
Once the physical therapists have diagnosed the injury, they design rehabilitation programs for their
patients. Physical therapy will help patients recover after surgery. MoveForwardPT, approved by The
American Physical Therapy Association, wrote about benefits of physical therapy and how physical
therapists play a role in recovery. After injuries, treatment plans can be designed for the patient s
individual goals, challenges, and needs. Receiving treatment by a physical therapist is rarely a passive
activity, and participating in your own recovery can be empowering (Benefits). Plans with exercises
are made for patients after surgery or when going to physical therapy. The rehabilitation plans give
patients exercises to do at home when

Essay on A Near Death Experience as a Religious Experience
A Near Death Experience as a Religious Experience
A near death experience can be defined as an event which occurs to people when seemingly the bodily
functions which confirm life have stopped, (i.e. clinically dead). It often has an out of body element
and may be interrupted in a religious or non religious way. Most individuals who claim to have had a
near death experience say that there is a sense of indescribable bliss, ecstasy and peace. Similarly, a
religious experience is usually described as a non empirical occurrence, and may be perceived as
supernatural. It is a mental event which is undergone by an individual and of which that person is
aware. Recipients of a religious experience usually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Moreover, it could also be explained in physiological terms; where an individual could have a body
illness, or the brain being deprived of oxygen. These could distort their image of the world leading to
them not obtaining a real picture of what s going on, and hence making them think they are
undergoing a divine experience, whether religious or near death. It could also be the result of affects in
neurological terms (involving the nervous system). The brain could be affected by nerves and how
they are working. This could also be in connection with common diseases such as Parkinson s,
Multiple Sclerosis and other, whereby they affect the individual s brain and what they perceive.
I tried to tell my nurses what had happened when I woke up, but they told me not to talk about it, that I
was just imagining things. (An individual who claims to have had a near death experience)
These experiences could also be psychological, where an individual feels a sense of isolation. Dreams
and delusions could also be a reason. For example, in times of ultimate stress, it tightens sensitivity
and stress release endorphins could cause visions. A near death experience can be purely

As demonstrated in Portland, Oregon, not every community desires a Wal Mart. In his CEO s letter to
the shareholders, Michael Duke referred to opportunities in metropolitan markets as a major
contributor to growth potential (Wal Mart, 2010). However, sales growth has declined steadily since
2007. Wal Mart s 2010 annual report showed a 1% increase in sales growth over the prior year. With
the steady decline in sales growth, Wal Mart s initiative to continue growing looks bleak; especially in
hard economic times. Proof of the decline is seen in Wal Mart s 2011 first quarterly statement which
posted a decline in same store sales in the United States of 1.4% (Stock Blog Hub, 2010, para. 3).
New growth is the key to the success of Wal Mart s growth initiative. Without new markets, and with
a steady decline in sales of existing stores, Wal Mart s faces an inevitable decline leading to a failed
growth initiative. Financial Outcome: Increase in Sales Another potential outcome of the company s
growth is initiative is that the sales will increase. For the last five years Wal Mart has experienced a
year over year growth in its net sales. Sales increased 9%, 11%, 8%, 7% and 1% in the years 2006,
2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 respectively (Wal Mart, 2010). The company previously credited lower

An external market research analysis is the process of scanning and evaluating an organization s
various external environmental sector to determine positive and negative trends that could impact
organizational performance ( External, n.d.). The goal is to explore any opportunities and threats
existing in the environment. Opportunities are favorable to the condition in an organization s
environment that can produce rewards if use properly and the organization can benefit from it. Threats
are barriers that prevent an organization from achieving their goals and objectives. (Olsen, n.d ) This

Severe illness that causes dangerous complications, and longer hospitalization can be due to delayed

is uninsured ( Community, 2015, p. 48). In 2013, 19% of the population were uninsured, which is
1.8% higher than California. Out of the 19% uninsured residents, 28% were young adults, 25 % were
Latinos, 25% with a low income household, 37% does not have a high school diploma. Six percent of
children under six years old were uninsured ( Community, 2015, p. 48). According to the 2014
California Health Interview Survey (CHIS), 83.1% of San Bernardino County residents under 65 years
old had a place or hospital to visit when they feel sick or needed health care services. This is lower
than the statewide average, but higher than all neighboring counties compared ( Community, 2015, p.

A Research Study On Sex Trafficking Study Essay
As far as the reliability was concerned in the study I believe there should be no concern. The
individuals in the study were all young women of whom were adjudicated from 1990 to 2011l. If there
was any reason to believe that their information was not reliable one could check into police records
and other background checks that were available. The presence of the court files helps with the
research study being reliable. If those files did not exist, one would question the reliability of the
stories from younger ladies. To adjust for the credibility, the researcher obtained information from
official criminal histories, interviews from offenders and law enforcement records (Hargreaves
Cormany Patterson, 2016, p. 34).
Sample
When looking for a sample for a research project one must be sure that it is going to provide us with
the answers to the questions we are looking to answer and it represents the sample that was in mind
(Yegidis et al., 2012, p. 210). In the sex trafficking study, the researchers had obtained their
participants by selecting 179 survivors of young ladies who had performed the act of sex trafficking.
The ladies were selected from a pool of women who had been adjudicated between 1990 2011
(Hargreaves Cormany Patterson, 2016, p. 34). After reading the who research study I do feel that the
sample size was effective and it gave the results that the researchers were looking for. The authors did
not offer any justification for the sample size that was selected.

90 s Kid Research Paper
I m a nineties kid. According to Urban dictionary the definition of a 90 s kid is: A person born between
January 1, 1982 and December 31, 1991 who lived more than half of their childhood (years aged 3 12)
in the glorious decade of the 1990s (HoodedStranger). I was born in 1983. I entered kindergarten in
1988 and graduated high school in 2001. I was a child during the entire decade. Urban dictionary
further states, Many children of the 90s feel that they lived good childhoods and like to share their
memories with each other of things like the Spice Girls and similar 1990s stuff (Why are all the
pseudonyms). It is true that children of the nineties like to discuss things we liked during the time we
grew up, as I m sure children of the seventies like to reminisce about disco and bell bottoms. One
thing that Urban Dictionary and other sources of this nature dismiss is what really sets our upbringing
apart from the rest. The nineties was a groundbreaking decade for music, technology and
entertainment and there were so many rapid changes made to everyday life. The children of that
decade experienced more changes in day to day life than any other ... Show more content on

2.Gilmore Whistleblowing In The Given Situation Lends Itself
2. Gilmore whistleblowing in the given situation lends itself to much ethical debate. For this
discussion, one should assume SCE is in violation of the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct by
recognizing revenue in the current period as detailed in the previous issue. To first consider the ethics
of Gilmore whistleblowing, it is essential to define the steps that should be taken by her before she
considers whistleblowing. For this, one can use the standard on ethical conflicts outlined in the AICPA
Code of Professional Conduct. In this instance, the conflict in question surrounds around the pressure
from internal management to do an unethical action (AICPA Code of Professional Conduct). This is
the situation which Gilmore is involved in, due ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This leads to three options Gilmore can take in the given situation. The first option is for Gilmore to
do nothing to address the issue and continue her employment with SCE. The second alternative is for
her to resign from SCE. The final route she has is whistleblowing under the assumption she exhausted
all internal options. As a spot check, the first alternative would be unethical. As stated in the final step
of evaluating ethical conflicts, one should consider leaving the relationship with the given
organization, so they are not in violation of the code. As determined in the previous issue, SCE was in
violation of the code by recognizing revenue in the current period. Therefore, Gilmore would be
associated with this violation by staying in employment with SEC. This means she would potentially
face fines or disciplinary actions from the SEC as well as the State Board of Accountancy. Solely
based on this code section, Gilmore does have a reasonable case for walking away and not
whistleblowing. However, there are other pieces of literate that needs to be addressed before coming
to this conclusion in entirety. To start, one must first address laws surrounding whistleblowing before
looking at ethic based authorities. While there is not a law that requires one to whistle blow, there are
laws that have been put in place to ensure that

Slip In Nb Lab Report
Slip in bcc metals has a lot in common, although each material has its own subtleties [70].
Investigation of slip in Nb dates to over 60 years ago, when several researchers deformed single
crystal Nb under different experimental conditions [80, 84, 89 91]. More attention has been put into
Nb over the past few decades, as it became the material of choice to build SRF cavities. The following
paragraphs will concentrate on slip in high purity Nb at room temperature, which is the condition of
SRF cavity manufacturing.
Maddin and Chen used optical slip trace analyses and X ray Laue diffraction to identify slip only on
{110} planes in Nb at room temperature in both tension and compression across the unit triangle [80].
In the work of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Comparison using the {110} slip systems or a combination of both {110} and {112} slip systems does
not give the same correlation. The rotation of tensile axes can also be explained by the dominance of
{112} slip systems at yield [48].
A ratio between the shear stress of the two most stressed intersecting {112} slip systems below 1.1
correlates well with hardening at yield, suggesting that the combined twinning/anti twinning and non
glide shear stress effects may only alter the critical resolved shear stress by a small amount [48]. Thus,
many of these details may not be necessary for inclusion into practical models for the deformation of
large grain Nb. In fact, initial results from Mapar et al. suggest that non Schmid effects are small in
Nb, and surprisingly, the Schmid based model predicts the stress strain behavior of the Ningxia tensile
samples better than the non Schmid model in most cases [92].
The dominance of {112} slip at yield followed by {110} slip for the rest of deformation appears to
comply with the theory of Seeger et al. [48, 85], which suggests that the high purity screw dislocation
core relaxation is on {112} planes, and impurities change the core relaxation to {110} planes. This
indicates that the total

Secure Local Area Network Infrastructure Project
Secured Network Infrastructure Project.
Introduction
For one to design and come up with a very well secured network, there are a number of factors that
have to be taken into consideration. They include the topography and the place meant of hosts within
the network, the careful configuration of each component and lastly the selection of software and
hardware technologies. This project focuses on the designing of a secure Local Area Network as well
as some of the best practices suggested by the security experts. The three areas in which I will focus
include : network topology which comprises of the physical and logical design of the network, the
ways of securing the switches and routers that connect segments and hosts to and from the network
and lastly the the advanced techniques in network security.
Initial assumptions and Challenges.
In the examining some of the security issues that are commonly found in the small to medium sized
LAN set up for businesses and in the identification of the best practices from a network designer s
perspective, here are some of the challenges faced
Securing the internet facing web, mails servers and DNS
Securing the network from the attacks launched at it
The securing of mission critical and sensitive internal resources for example customer data base,
financial records and trade secrets
The building of a framework for the administrators to securely manage the network.
Provision of logging systems and those for detection of intrusion.

The Damned If I Do Damned
Damned if I Do, Damned if I Don t There are a number of different ways that knowledge can broaden
our horizons as we go through life. This includes ways in which we go about doing our daily activities
all the way to how we further ourselves in our career paths. Many people do see knowledge as a
benefit, especially for those who are trying to get ahead when it comes to jump starting their careers
within certain industries. All careers require a certain amount of knowledge and skill in order to obtain
the position. However some do see too much knowledge as something that can hinder you from
certain positions. It all depends on how knowledge is applied and how we choose to share that
knowledge in order to benefit ourselves as well as others. We go through 12 years of schooling before
we reach college. Some may feel as if high school is it for them and they have retained all of the
information they need and have learned the proper amount of knowledge needed in order to be
successful in life. However, for others, their path in life is different. Some need to further in
knowledge in order to have a career in higher paying jobs, for example, if you want to be brain
surgeon, I m pretty sure you cannot obtain a career of that nature just off of a high school diploma.
That is definitely common knowledge, of course you re going to need to further your schooling in
order to obtain the skills and tools needed in order to be successful in that career path.

Stereotypes In Engineering
Engineering has historically been viewed as a man s job. In recent years the Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) community has made more pointed efforts to recruit women.
While the process of aggressively seeking out women is taking place, the perception of what it means
to be an engineer remains skewed. Since the perception has changed about engineering, societal views
are pushed towards a generic understanding of what it means to be an engineer. Problems in recruiting
women engineers can exemplify the differences in society we don t often discuss such as merit and
opportunity.
The issue of men having a higher percentage of STEM field workers is not new news. The percentage
of women in engineering has not been dramatically impacted in years. A study conducted by Rachel
Dzombak, in 2016 at Penn State University describes why. Throughout the study, the ratio of women
to men was one in five. The ratio of tenured or tenured tracked faculty of women to men was about
one in eight (2). Showing the disproportionate amount of men. In the study, there is a lack of
consensus on a single reason for women to be underrepresented in these fields do to the differing
nature of the variables. Some recurring themes seem to be a lack of academic confidence,
unsatisfactory guidance by faculty, and a diminished ability to create a community within engineering
(4). These factors all contribute to the absence of women in a variety of ways. Lack of academic

Cardiovascular Disease ( Cvd )
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the number one cause of death in the United States (Swain, 2013,
p.619). On average, CVD kills 17.1 million people a year in the United States (Swain, 2013, p.619).
CVD encompasses sub diseases that affect the heart and the circulatory system. Myocardial infarction
is a life threatening product of CVD and is commonly known as a heart attack. Blood flow is occluded
to a section of the heart in response to thrombus which is a blood clot formed in the vessel. The
occluded section results in heart muscle death (Swain, 2013, p.619). Every year, an average of
785,000 United States citizens die from a myocardial infarction; of those: 470,000 will have a
recurrent episode (Balady et al., 2011). Within five years of the initial myocardial infarction 22% of
men and women will suffer a fatal myocardial infarction or fatal coronary heart disease (CHD)
(Balady et al., 2011). Cardiac rehabilitation is a form of secondary prevention used post myocardial
infarction, with chronic stable angina, heart failure, coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) or
percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA). Cardiac rehabilitation aims to stabilize the
condition, slow the progressive rate of the disease, and in some instances reverse CVD (Balady et al.,
2011). Cardiac rehabilitation is defined as, the implementation of strategies and provision of support
to help people with heart disease return to an active and fulfilling life and to prevent occurrence

The Ethics Of The Bhopal Disaster
In the Business Ethics Foundation Terms class (September 2nd 2014), we discussed the ethical
implications of the Bhopal disaster on December 2nd and 3rd, 1983. A plant that belonged to Union
Carbide subsidiary had a chemical explosion, killing 10,000 lives (conservatively) and affecting the
livelihood of local and their descendants. Although many reasons have been offered up to try to
explain this disaster such as the poor establishment of the manufacturing plant, less stringent labor
laws, non exist environment laws, as well as the negligence in educating the public and medical
facilities in Bhopal about the fatality of the pesticide. It is my opinion that the government should also
have placed strict boundary rules to limit populations moving into the possible disaster zone. The
government of India s negligence lies in one or both of the following: not assessing the risk of
building a manufacturing plant close to a populated city, ignoring the assessed risk inherent in the
chemicals being manufactured, and jeopardizing the environment and population of Bhopal. This is
not to say that the Union Carbide and its subsidiary were blameless, however the Government of India
s lack of responsibility for its citizens can be proved when they underrepresented the victims in the
UCC s settlement actions in 1989. Due to these reasons, I will argue in the following paragraphs that
the Government of India has more responsibility than Union Carbide in not only the tragedy but also

Social Urban Quality Of Life
Another proposal worth mentioning was proposed by (Serag El Din, 2013) it introduce seven main
dimensions which contribute to realize the urban quality of life: environmental urban quality of life;
physical urban quality of life; mobility urban quality of life; social urban quality of life; psychological
urban quality of life; economical urban quality of life; political urban quality of life. These dimensions
are interrelated and dependent on each other as reflected in the Heptagon Shape Figure ‎

The first dimension, generically titled Environmental Urban Quality of Life, refers to the natural
aspects of the neighborhood.
The second dimension, Physical Urban Quality of Life, refers to facilities, urban fabric, land use,

The third dimension, Mobility Urban Quality of Life, discusses the accessibility, traffic and
transportation issues.
The fourth dimension, titled Social Urban Quality of Life, comprises the indicators that refer to the
social dimension of the neighborhood and to the people interaction, that is, questions regarding
individual choices and the participation of citizens.
The fifth dimension, Psychological Urban Quality of Life, it discusses the issues concerning the
feeling of citizens toward their neighborhood, such as the identity of the place.
The sixth dimension is Economical Urban Quality of Life which characterizes the neighborhood as a

After World War 1, there is a lot of skilled pilots and aircraft is imported back to Australia. At that
time, there was no regulations restricting the aviation industry and people fly aircraft whenever they

Government to response to the International Convention for the Regulation of Aerial Navigation
which was held in Paris in October 1919 [1]. On 28 March 1921, the Air Navigation Act 1920 came

Jewish-German Culture
An often suppressed topic of Jewish German culture is women and how successful Jewish females
have been in the photography industry. In class we discussed the suppression of all Jews as the
persecution of Jewish people became an active Nazi policy in 1933. Because of these hash fascist
policies, many Jews emigrated to nearby countries such as Russia, known then as the USSR. Many
Jewish German museums feature exhibitions that carry the theme of migration. I looked at many of
the websites for Jewish German museums to see the types of exhibits they featured; one which caught
my eye was the Vienna s Shooting Girls: Jewish Women Photographers at the museum in Vienna. This
exhibition was centered on the female photographers in exile and the end of this era for Vienna. It was
a featured exhibition from October 23rd 2012 to March 3rd 2013. Photography was an essential part
of Jewish German culture as it demonstrates a time in which women were celebrated. Secondly, the

The Effects Of Space Travel In The Movie Apollo 13
After watching the movie Apollo 13, all I can take away is irritation, several unanswered questions,
and poorly explained minute details relating to traveling in space. While some details are easy to
understand, such as the effects of gravity on weight and the effects of space travel on the human body,
many instances of scientific references are made under the presumption that the viewer understands
what is being said. Along with the inability to detail the process of achieving space travel, the details
they did include were often inaccurate, for example the display of evident sexism. While this movie
did roughly indulge in the chronicles of previous space missions and the tension between the United
States and Russia in the on going Space Race , there is very little mention of the science behind the
mission, making this more of a poorly represented history movie than a scientific examination into the
world of NASA, the Kennedy Space Center, and the mission of Apollo 13. Before explaining
inconsistencies in the movie s portrayal of the Apollo 13 mission, it can be said that it had brief
shining moments of informative narration. One of these highlights is the references made to the
ongoing fight between Russia and the United States over who will conquer in technological
advancements. The beginning of the movie really detailed why it was important for the astronauts and
scientists involved in the Apollo 13 mission to complete another trip to the moon. Other small

The Mbuti hunt and gather food from the forest, and they trade as well for survival. They are referred as hunter gatherer. They are a small band of kinship groups that are mobile. That is why their leisure time is so important. Leisure time is used to spend time with the kin and friends, the foraging societies believe (Nowak and Laird, 2010). They work hard to find food and hunt for a couple of days and rest of the time is for leisure activities. The Mbuti have ritual that they do during their leisure time. They have a ceremony called molimo. It is performed by the men and is associated with singing and the use of a trumpet called the molimo (Nowak and Laird, 2010). The molimo ceremony used the molimo, a strictly forest institution, which young men are initiated after they have become successful hunters (Lee, pg. 244). This is how most of the leisure time goes to, the family. The forager culture has high value for working together and sharing (Nowak and Laird, 2010). Those values show how their economic organization works wells. They see economic importance as cultural tradition. This is how they survive also. It is easy for forager to move place to place because they don t have many material items. That is what makes the exchange process so easy also. Garden City And Garden City Introduction In late 19th, because of a dramatic increase of population, increasing urbanization and industrialization, cities had been overcrowded and the environment was being destroyed as well. In order to shift people who moving to the urban cites to the suburbs, a concept of garden city setting was coming out by Ebenezer Howard. His idea was inspired by the utopian wave which existed from mid and the close of 19th century. Howard (1902) idealized that in garden city, a 6,000 acre site would have 32,000 people living in. Furthermore, there was a sustaining potential which is the limit of the population density in garden city plan, so they would build a new garden city nearby when another city has reached the limit. In Howard s book, there is a central city surrounded by lots of garden cities which could afford 50,000 people. Roads and rail is the way linking those garden cities. • 4. Solzhenitsyn s A Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, whose stubborn, lonely and combative literary struggles gained the force of prophecy as he revealed the heavy afflictions of Soviet Communism in some of the most powerful works of the 20th century, died late on Sunday at the age of 89 in Moscow. His son Yermolai said the cause was a heart ailment. Mr. Solzhenitsyn outlived by nearly 17 years the Soviet state and system he had battled through years of imprisonment, ostracism and exile. Mr. Solzhenitsyn had been an obscure, middle aged, unpublished high school science teacher in a provincial Russian town when he burst onto the literary stage in 1962 with A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich. They stopped publication of his new works, denounced him as a traitor and confiscated his manuscripts. A Giant and a Victim But their iron grip could not contain Mr. Solzhenitsyn s reach. By then his works were appearing outside the Soviet Union, in many languages, and he was being compared not only to Russia s literary giants but also to Stalin s literary victims, writers like Anna Akhmatova, Iosip Mandleshtam and Boris Pasternak. At home, the Kremlin stepped up its campaign by expelling Mr. Solzhenitsyn from the Writer s Union. He fought back. He succeeded in having microfilms of his banned manuscripts smuggled out of the Soviet Union. He addressed petitions to government organs, wrote open letters, rallied support among friends and artists, and corresponded with people abroad. They turned his struggles into one of the most celebrated cases of the cold war period. Hundreds of well known intellectuals signed petitions against his silencing; the names of left leaning figures like Jean Paul Sartre carried particular weight with Moscow. Other supporters included Graham Greene, Muriel Spark, W. H. Auden, Gunther Grass, Heinrich Boll, Yukio Mishima, Carlos Fuentes and, from the United States, Arthur Miller, John Updike, Truman Capote and Kurt Vonnegut. The doctor goes from being a professional concerned with a young girl s health to an animalistic, pedophilic, instinct driven person. At the beginning, the doctor goes to the patient s home where he is met with a poverty stricken family. The family is clean despite their living conditions. At the beginning of the story, the doctor can not help but notice the young girl s attractiveness and her magnificent blond hair, in profusion . He notes that her looks are those of advertisement worthy children and that her stare infatuates him. Later during the battle the doctor puts a phallic tongue depressor in the child s throat to which she fought so desperately with clenched teeth she ended up breaking the tongue depressor in her mouth and caused it to start bleeding. The doctor, instead of acknowledging that he is actually hurting Matilda, becomes furious at her and thinks I tried to hold myself down but I couldn t . This is a young girl bleeding from the mouth and a vision of pure terror, yet the doctor only becomes more violent, determined and aroused by the power. The doctor thinks to himself that he knows he should have let the child be and have tried again in an hour or so when she had calmed down, yet his instincts tell him we re going through with this. . The doctor is fully aware that he has become irrational and unprofessional as he thinks, I too had got beyond reason. I could have torn the child apart in my own fury and enjoyed it. It was a pleasure to attack her. My face was burning with it. . This is a blatant example of dominant sexual force. He justifies his feelings by saying he must protect the damned little brat ... Often times, adopted children experience voided space inside as well as an unfathomable sense of disarray (Eldridge, 62). Carla Duncan, a 1968 adoptee, recently expressed in a personal interview her mixed emotions: Being adopted is like a double edge sword in that on one side, I have always felt very special to say, I am adopted , because I was chosen and hand picked. On the other hand, however, I feel different because I am adopted. In order to be chosen, I had to realize that someone also rejected me. Someone did not want me. Sometimes I would look for long periods of time at myself in the mirror, wondering who it was that I was really seeing. This feeling grew with great intensity as I became a teenager and felt that no one really understood me. Duncan, as is proven typical of other adoptees, has also experienced the common need to express her adoption story, only to be let down at the un interest of peers. Misunderstanding often exists as a residual psychological effect among adoptees (Eldridge, 91). With good intentions, adoptive parents and other influential people may unknowingly contribute to the adoptee s mixed emotions. One definition, the most common one, says that passion is a strong and barely controllable emotion. However when you look right below it there is another definition that reads, passion is the suffering and death of Jesus. In the play Equus by Peter Shaffer, you see how intertwined the ideas of passion, worship and religion are. A schizophrenic 17 year old boy named Alan lives his life in the grey area between these two definitions and ultimately combines them to make one. Dysart, a psychologist, tries to help Alan distinguish the differences between these two separate ideas. But, by helping him to become what many people would call normal, he could destroy the passion that he so envies in Alan. Maddin and Chen used optical slip trace analyses and X ray Laue diffraction to identify slip only on {110} planes in Nb at room temperature in both tension and compression across the unit triangle [80]. In the work of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Comparison using the {110} slip systems or a combination of both {110} and {112} slip systems does not give the same correlation. The rotation of tensile axes can also be explained by the dominance of {112} slip systems at yield [48]. A ratio between the shear stress of the two most stressed intersecting {112} slip systems below 1.1 correlates well with hardening at yield, suggesting that the combined twinning/anti twinning and non glide shear stress effects may only alter the critical resolved shear stress by a small amount [48]. Thus, many of these details may not be necessary for inclusion into practical models for the deformation of large grain Nb. In fact, initial results from Mapar et al. suggest that non Schmid effects are small in Nb, and surprisingly, the Schmid based model predicts the stress strain behavior of the Ningxia tensile samples better than the non Schmid model in most cases [92]. The dominance of {112} slip at yield followed by {110} slip for the rest of deformation appears to comply with the theory of Seeger et al. [48, 85], which suggests that the high purity screw dislocation core relaxation is on {112} planes, and impurities change the core relaxation to {110} planes. This indicates that the total ... Introduction For one to design and come up with a very well secured network, there are a number of factors that have to be taken into consideration. They include the topography and the place meant of hosts within the network, the careful configuration of each component and lastly the selection of software and hardware technologies. This project focuses on the designing of a secure Local Area Network as well as some of the best practices suggested by the security experts. The three areas in which I will focus include : network topology which comprises of the physical and logical design of the network, the ways of securing the switches and routers that connect segments and hosts to and from the network and lastly the the advanced techniques in network security. Initial assumptions and Challenges. In the examining some of the security issues that are commonly found in the small to medium sized LAN set up for businesses and in the identification of the best practices from a network designer s perspective, here are some of the challenges faced Securing the internet facing web, mails servers and DNS Securing the network from the attacks launched at it The securing of mission critical and sensitive internal resources for example customer data base, financial records and trade secrets The building of a framework for the administrators to securely manage the network. • 27. The Damned If I Do Damned Damned if I Do, Damned if I Don t There are a number of different ways that knowledge can broaden our horizons as we go through life. This includes ways in which we go about doing our daily activities all the way to how we further ourselves in our career paths. Many people do see knowledge as a benefit, especially for those who are trying to get ahead when it comes to jump starting their careers within certain industries. All careers require a certain amount of knowledge and skill in order to obtain the position. However some do see too much knowledge as something that can hinder you from certain positions. It all depends on how knowledge is applied and how we choose to share that knowledge in order to benefit ourselves as well as others. We go through 12 years of schooling before we reach college. Some may feel as if high school is it for them and they have retained all of the information they need and have learned the proper amount of knowledge needed in order to be successful in life. However, for others, their path in life is different. Some need to further in knowledge in order to have a career in higher paying jobs, for example, if you want to be brain surgeon, I m pretty sure you cannot obtain a career of that nature just off of a high school diploma. That is definitely common knowledge, of course you re going to need to further your schooling in order to obtain the skills and tools needed in order to be successful in that career path. ... • 28. Stereotypes In Engineering Engineering has historically been viewed as a man s job. In recent years the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) community has made more pointed efforts to recruit women. While the process of aggressively seeking out women is taking place, the perception of what it means to be an engineer remains skewed. Since the perception has changed about engineering, societal views are pushed towards a generic understanding of what it means to be an engineer. Problems in recruiting women engineers can exemplify the differences in society we don t often discuss such as merit and opportunity. The issue of men having a higher percentage of STEM field workers is not new news. The percentage of women in engineering has not been dramatically impacted in years. A study conducted by Rachel Dzombak, in 2016 at Penn State University describes why. Throughout the study, the ratio of women to men was one in five. The ratio of tenured or tenured tracked faculty of women to men was about one in eight (2). Showing the disproportionate amount of men. In the study, there is a lack of consensus on a single reason for women to be underrepresented in these fields do to the differing nature of the variables. Some recurring themes seem to be a lack of academic confidence, unsatisfactory guidance by faculty, and a diminished ability to create a community within engineering (4). These factors all contribute to the absence of women in a variety of ways. Lack of academic confidence ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Cardiovascular Disease ( Cvd ) Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the number one cause of death in the United States (Swain, 2013, p.619). On average, CVD kills 17.1 million people a year in the United States (Swain, 2013, p.619). CVD encompasses sub diseases that affect the heart and the circulatory system. Myocardial infarction is a life threatening product of CVD and is commonly known as a heart attack. Blood flow is occluded to a section of the heart in response to thrombus which is a blood clot formed in the vessel. The occluded section results in heart muscle death (Swain, 2013, p.619). Every year, an average of 785,000 United States citizens die from a myocardial infarction; of those: 470,000 will have a recurrent episode (Balady et al., 2011). Within five years of the initial myocardial infarction 22% of men and women will suffer a fatal myocardial infarction or fatal coronary heart disease (CHD) (Balady et al., 2011). Cardiac rehabilitation is a form of secondary prevention used post myocardial infarction, with chronic stable angina, heart failure, coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) or percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA). Cardiac rehabilitation aims to stabilize the condition, slow the progressive rate of the disease, and in some instances reverse CVD (Balady et al., 2011). Cardiac rehabilitation is defined as, the implementation of strategies and provision of support to help people with heart disease return to an active and fulfilling life and to prevent occurrence ... • 30. The Ethics Of The Bhopal Disaster In the Business Ethics Foundation Terms class (September 2nd 2014), we discussed the ethical implications of the Bhopal disaster on December 2nd and 3rd, 1983. A plant that belonged to Union Carbide subsidiary had a chemical explosion, killing 10,000 lives (conservatively) and affecting the livelihood of local and their descendants. Although many reasons have been offered up to try to explain this disaster such as the poor establishment of the manufacturing plant, less stringent labor laws, non exist environment laws, as well as the negligence in educating the public and medical facilities in Bhopal about the fatality of the pesticide. It is my opinion that the government should also have placed strict boundary rules to limit populations moving into the possible disaster zone. The government of India s negligence lies in one or both of the following: not assessing the risk of building a manufacturing plant close to a populated city, ignoring the assessed risk inherent in the chemicals being manufactured, and jeopardizing the environment and population of Bhopal. This is not to say that the Union Carbide and its subsidiary were blameless, however the Government of India s lack of responsibility for its citizens can be proved when they underrepresented the victims in the UCC s settlement actions in 1989. Due to these reasons, I will argue in the following paragraphs that the Government of India has more responsibility than Union Carbide in not only the tragedy but also for ... All these effort of the aviation regulator makes the aviation safety in Australia reach to a higher standard. 2. History After World War 1, there is a lot of skilled pilots and aircraft is imported back to Australia. At that time, there was no regulations restricting the aviation industry and people fly aircraft whenever they want. This situation maintained until 1920 when the Australia Government established the Air Navigation Act 1920 and was approved by the Parliament. This Act was established by the Australia Government to response to the International Convention for the Regulation of Aerial Navigation which was held in Paris in October 1919 [1]. • 35. Jewish-German Culture An often suppressed topic of Jewish German culture is women and how successful Jewish females have been in the photography industry. In class we discussed the suppression of all Jews as the persecution of Jewish people became an active Nazi policy in 1933. Because of these hash fascist policies, many Jews emigrated to nearby countries such as Russia, known then as the USSR. Many Jewish German museums feature exhibitions that carry the theme of migration. I looked at many of the websites for Jewish German museums to see the types of exhibits they featured; one which caught my eye was the Vienna s Shooting Girls: Jewish Women Photographers at the museum in Vienna. This exhibition was centered on the female photographers in exile and the end of this era for Vienna. It was a featured exhibition from October 23rd 2012 to March 3rd 2013. Photography was an essential part of Jewish German culture as it demonstrates a time in which women were celebrated. • 36. The Effects Of Space Travel In The Movie Apollo 13 After watching the movie Apollo 13, all I can take away is irritation, several unanswered questions, and poorly explained minute details relating to traveling in space. While some details are easy to understand, such as the effects of gravity on weight and the effects of space travel on the human body, many instances of scientific references are made under the presumption that the viewer understands what is being said. Along with the inability to detail the process of achieving space travel, the details they did include were often inaccurate, for example the display of evident sexism. While this movie did roughly indulge in the chronicles of previous space missions and the tension between the United States and Russia in the on going Space Race , there is very little mention of the science behind the mission, making this more of a poorly represented history movie than a scientific examination into the world of NASA, the Kennedy Space Center, and the mission of Apollo 13. Before explaining inconsistencies in the movie s portrayal of the Apollo 13 mission, it can be said that it had brief shining moments of informative narration. One of these highlights is the references made to the ongoing fight between Russia and the United States over who will conquer in technological advancements. The beginning of the movie really detailed why it was important for the astronauts and scientists involved in the Apollo 13 mission to complete another trip to the moon. Other small inquiries ...
