Within this writing assignment I will discuss the following regulatory requirements comprise of the
Federal Information Systems Management Act (FISMA), Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX), Gramm
Leach Bliley Act, Payment Card Industry Standards (PCI DSS), Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act (HIPAA), and Intellectual Property Law. I will also discuss securitymethods and
controls which should be applied to ensure compliance with the standards and regulatory
requirements. I will explain the guidelines established by the Department of Health and Human
Services, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and other agencies for
ensuring compliance with these standards and regulatory requirements.

Title III of the E Government Act, entitled the Federal Information SecurityManagement Act
(FISMA) requires each federal agency to develop, document, and implement an agency wide
program to provide information security for the information and systems that support the operations
and assets of the agency, including those provided or managed by another agency, contractor, or
other sources (Staff, 2016). FISMA was amended by The Federal Information Security
Modernization Act of 2014. The amendment was established to modernize the Federal security
practices to focus on security concerns. The results of these changes will strengthen continuous
monitoring, continue focusing on agency compliance, and report on issues caused by security
incidents. FISMA, Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 and the Information Technology Management
Reform Act of 1996 (Clinger Cohen Act), clearly highlights the plans for a cost effective security
program. In support of and reinforcing this legislation, the Office of Management and Budget
(OMB) through Circular A 130, Managing Federal Information as a Strategic Resource, 1 requires
executive agencies within the federal government to:
Plan for security
Ensure that appropriate officials are assigned security responsibility
Periodically review the security controls in their systems

Has anyone played golf in here or actually plays golf? Relate topic to audience: As we get older,
we get less active and many people cannot play physical sports or don t have that stamina that we
have at our age to run around and do whatever. Learning a proper golf swing is the stepping stool
in the golf world and the beginning of getting into a game that can teach you patience, manners,

How Did Ww1 Affect Australian Society
World War 1 was the first war that involved the majority of the world including Australia. It ran
from 1914 to 1918 and was held in various places spread across Europe. Over 60,000 Australians
lost their lives which was over 1 percent of the population at this time. As you can imagine, this had
a tremendous impact on the home front. The war did contributed a variety of positive and negative
influences to the civilian population of Australia. The main aspects that received dramatic changes
due to World War 1 were the roles of women, political issues and the Australian economy. The War,
did not only effect men fighting, but also the roles of women on the home front. As most men on
farms and factories were taken by the Australian Imperial Force,... Show more content on

Conscription is the idea of compulsory enlistment for a state service, typically into the armed
forces. The controversy between pro and anti conscription divided the Australian population
during the course of the war. Conscription was mainly supported by those who had never stepped
foot near a battlefield. Propaganda played a large role in pressuring men into enlisting. An
example of where propaganda pressured men into volunteering for the Australian Imperial Force, is
Appendix 1. The motive of this poster is successful as it implies that fathers would be shameful to
ignore the plight of women as well as, promoting a sense of guilt. Anti conscription propaganda also
depicted or appealed to women. For instance, anti conscriptionists would call a vote for
conscription, a blood vote, reminding women they were possibly sending men to their deaths. This
strategy of manipulating people s emotions proved to work as in Dec 1917, the 2nd referendum on
conscription rejected it. This debate influenced the entirety of Australian society as citizens were
bombarded with propaganda and the opinions of others. At the beginning of the war the Federal
Government gained great jurisdiction through the War Precautions Act. This was was introduced as
commonwealth would need to increase its authority to prosecute war effectively. Along with this,
the Constitution was also

Intel, A Small Computer Electronics Firm
Introduction
Intel was set up on 18th July 1968 by Gordon Moore, Robert Noyce and Andrew Grove as a
small computer electronics firm. Over 40 years on the company is still going and is making vast
amounts of money every year with their net income for 2015 being $11.4bn (Revenue $55.9bn) .
Intel was first formed in Mountain View California 1968 by Gorden E. Moore a chemist, Robert

that they need to watch. See Appendix 1 for the SWOT analysis of Intel.

source was beneficial because it came from the company s website and so therefore the information
was up to date and should be accurate about the statistics of the company. The website also shows
the latest products that Intel is producing as well as the many research products that they fund to
advance computer technology. The downside however of this source of information is that the
information on the website could be biased because they will want to project their organisation in
the best light possible so are therefore unlikely to post anything negative about the company. The
Intel website did however show the different

Narrative Essay About My Dream
When people ask me, what s your earliest memories? I always have this weird response. Whether
it was a dream I had when I was little, or truly experiences from the womb, who knows. Yet they
still remain vivid in my mind. I can imagine myself popping into existence and just floating in a
void, no realization of my body, just me existing. But even then I knew I was someone special,
someone set apart from the rest. For what reasons I had no clue of yet.
At the time of my birth, my parents were here over in the states in Wisconsin, though at the time
they were living in Japan, as my dad was serving as an air traffic controller at the military base and

would goof around and play. Except I often didn t play with the others, I d find myself a good
corner and focus my attention intently on one individual toy. This is how playtime usually went for
me. I studied the physics and used my senses to gather information about the toy.
After that little bit of time, it would be time for Sunday school over at the parsonage. There the
pastor s wife, with her short white hair would have worksheets o plenty for us to fill out as she

that was portrayed in the Bible due to our age, but it was mostly the same message. Though
sometimes, we d get lucky and get to watch a VHS of Veggietales or Superbook!
Afterwords, since most of the time my parents were finishing up in Bible study, I d go lay on the
grass in front of the church and gaze up into the clouds. I d try to come up with shapes that were
forming as I d listen to the loud buzz of all the cars driving on the freeway right by us (yes, the

Specification model of culture assumes the harmony and the consistency in both the cultural and
the social levels (Christoph Weckerle, 2008). It further specify particular functions and groups in
the different social system.
The second model of culture usually assumes that there are several more fundamental conflicts in
the social order levels but still views the cultural system to be still integrated relatively. In this
second model, the conflicting social groupings and functions can usually develop antagonistic
subcultures and not only complementary aesthetic referred to as specifications and this model is
called cultural refraction (Wagner, 2011).
The third model is the columnisation that describes the fundamental antagonism that exist between
the social and cultural system since its interest groupings occur in the hermetically sealed columns
of culture. Volkswagen Group Company is one of the international automobile competitors of
Toyota Motors Company and the model of culture that is most appropriate for it is the specification
model since it operates globally and assumes that there are harmony and consistency in the
marketing society (Books, 2011).

The Last Mission by Harry Mazer takes place during World War II when the Nazis start to
stagger back towards Germany, being pushed by merciless Allied troops. The story s setting
switches countless times during the story. In the story we see Jack Raab walk the malicious street
of New York, a demanding training camp, the grim environment of a war torn country, and the
treacherous skies of Europe. The setting that had the most effect emotionally on Jack was war torn
Europe. Here he sees the damage he and his fellow American bombers have done in many areas of

3. Jack Raab is a 15 year old New Yorker and Jew, who decides to fight against Hitler. Jack is very
tall for his age; this is why he was able to pass as an eighteen year old. Jack also has copper brown
hair. Jack has had many family members who live in Europe who have been taken by the Nazi s.
Jack feels it is his duty as an American and a Jew to fight against Hitler. Jack has an older
brother, Irving, who was rejected from the army because he has a heart condition. Jack comes
up with a bright idea to steal Irving s identity and apply to the army in Irving s name. His plan
works, and he is enlisted in the air force. Jack is a very brave young man, and he is able to stand
up for what he believes in. Throughout the novel, Jack is faced with danger. In all of these
situations, Jack perseveres and survives. Whenever Jack wanted to, he could have told a
superior about his real age and got sent back to the states. Jack is not only brave he is also very
mature. His experience in the war has changed him from a boy to a man. An example from the
text is when Jack Rabb tells us To most boys, war is a game. A game where there are good guys
and bad guys and the good guys always win. Where the good guys get glory and fame no matter
what. And I decided to play the game. But the truth is, war is not a

The Effects Of Fast Food On Children
Did you know that 30% of children ages 6 to 11 are overweight? 15.3% of children ages 6 to 11 are
obese? The impact obesity has on a child can become life changing. According to the CDC if
current trends continue, 1 of 3 U.S. adults will have diabetes by 2050 (Evans, W, 2006). Behind
the mask of obesity is a child that falls into the trap of fast foodadvertisement. Overall, the fast food
industry should be more socially responsible and not direct their marketing strategy of unhealthy
food choices to children; this will cut down the percentage of children suffering from childhood
obesity that leads to various health issues.
One might object here, that it is a free market and freedom of speech is part of the U.S.
Constitution. However, everyone has a different opinion about fast food and boudaries must be
respected. Still the fast food market is targeting children too often and too much, even involving
Schools to advertise unhealthy food in exchange for funding. One may argue, children learn by
example, parents are responsible for leading them in the right direction of how to make healthy
food choices. With this being said, parents are beginning to become concerned with how the fast
food is being marketed to children.
One of the largest leading industries known as fast food continues to market unhealthy promotions,
targeting young minds. Children watch an average of over ten related food advertisements daily,
and (nearly 4,000 per year) (Powell LM, S. R. 2011).

James C Collins Clock Building, Not Time Telling
This paper will explore the concept of Clock Building, Not Time Telling, as presented by James
C. Collins and Jerry I. Porras in their book, Built To Last: Successful Habits of Visionary
Companies. The goal is to identify the underlying reason and rational behind architects of visionary
companies and how they left their mark for generations to come through something larger than a
single act or product. Through compelling facts and research about companies, a change in thought
has occurred. For the enterprises and start ups of tomorrow, leaders must strive to be clock
builders. By becoming these grand architects, the leader s greatest creation, the company itself and
what it stands for, (Collins and Porras 23) must stand above and beyond anything else. This is the
crucial claim discovered by Collins and Porras by investigating key factors. Through exploring two
entrenched business myths, they revealed that visionary companies were built upon something
greater and grander than originally thought. They began to evaluate various companies roots and
leadership, finding astonishing correlations that change the landscape and mindset of company
development. Simply being able to tell the time will not cut it in the business world; one must build
a clock from the ground up to truly succeed.
To develop an understanding of Clock Building, Not Time Telling, we will first explore the two
myths of the business world that are engrained in the minds of individuals thought to achieve

A Dream Deferred By Langston Hughes
In the poem Dream Deferred (1951) by Langston Hughes, he proposes some of the positive and
undesirable effects of putting a dream on hold, through powerful imagery. It seems he himself
does not exactly understand what happens when a dream is deferred , or he has not yet
experienced it. Through a series of questions and rhymes, he gives ideas on what an aspiration
becomes when it is forgotten or put aside to take care of other things. Each line is introduced with
a question except for the fifth line, which still begins with a maybe , showing the doubt the speaker
has about this dreamthat is left to the side. Every line comes with a certain amount of confusion and
uncertainty. He is uncertain of what this dream has become, what it will be,... Show more content on

Just like the second line in the poem, you eventually give up on this dream you have after it sits
idly, serving no purpose; it just wears away. The next line reads Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over like a syrupy sweet? This time he is questioning if it eventually begins to
deteriorate and stir up a lot of issues, or perhaps it was the wrong dream and it haunts the reader.
The second sentence negates this prediction, describing it as a dream that needed to be put on
hold for a specific reason, or that other significant matters had to be taken care of before they
proceeded with this aspiration; it needed to be delayed in order for it to turn into something
great, or sweet as Hughes portrays it. Maybe it just sags like a heavy load. was the only line in
the poem that did not include a question mark, but it was still ambiguously suggested. The author
proposes that the dream could become a burden, weighing you down. The more you push the
dream away, the more demanding and vexing it becomes. This heavy load could also be viewed
as a drive to follow the dream, instead of letting it fade away. The weight pushes you to persevere
and stick to this

Farring, adorned in his white armor wielding the solid white shield of the Kingsguard and his
sword in hand. On the other side of the arena, a giant of a man, Sigorn Karstark. Carrying nothing

The bout begins with Warryn and Sigorn moving to the middle of the field. Sigorn Karstark, yelling

of the distracted man, but Karstark turns and brushes away the sword of Warryn and quickly dents

Jody Singer Research Paper
We have crossed continents, forded rivers, traversed oceans. We have explored trenches and
mountaintops and rain forests. Our species is a species of explorers, and sure, we may not know
everything about our suspended blue orb; we probably never will. But we learned enough to get
curious one more time: We learned how to fly.
And through that, we created a new frontier, a new goal. We reached beyond our planet. We
explore for the benefit of all human kind, Jody Singer, deputy director of NASA s Marshall
Space Flight Center in Huntsville and a 1983 graduate of UA s industrial engineering program,
said. This country, this nation, this world has always been explorers. It s really the heart of who
we are and what we do. It inspires us to look around the next corner. It inspires us to try to

That inquisitive mind has given us electricity, penicillin, the internet, cars, television and the
ability to begin to see our place in the universe. For those who see space as an invitation, peeking
further around the next corner is a matter of when, not if. The University of Alabama has several

Key Contextual Language Differences Between Japan And...
This case study will introduce the key contextual language differences between Japan and Singapore
and the different language education policies of the two countries. Specifically, the historical
background concerning the use of English in the two countries, the political landscape involving
the role of English, the mentality towards English and lastly the teaching of English. In the past
English was the language of the Singaporean government when Singapore was a British colony.
Since then it has been a wellspring of economic resource. Meanwhile English has never held official
status in Japan and the citizens of japan can make a comfortable living for themselves without the
need for English in daily activities. English interestingly is very prominent in Singapore but has
little use in Japan. Touching on attitudes, Singaporeans are fully embracing English while in
contrast Japanese people still have lingering doubts. Certainly English education in Japan is heavily
criticised however English education in Singapore is commensurate to other English speaking
developed nations. A brief insight to the background of English within Japan and Singapore.
Singapore In 1820 Sir Stamford Raffles acquired the Singapore as a commercial outpost for the
British East India Company. since the acquisition, Singapore has changed (Leitch Lepoer,

Thomas Cranmer s Presence In The Eucharist
It has been widely contended that Thomas Cranmer s thoughts on the presence of Christ in the
Eucharist had wavered throughout his time as a theologian, and that his writings are somewhat
ambiguous when it comes to addressing this important theological topic. Many academics agree
that Cranmer is not overly notable for his clarity in writing and concede that this ambiguity,
especially on writings of the presence in the Eucharist, is due to the long and uneven evolution of
his understanding of the presence. According to Daniel Marrs, a biographer was once quoted in
saying that Cranmer was a man of liberal sympathies and a man of extraordinary charm and goes
on to say that Cranmer s abilities as a leader was questionable at best because Cranmer s... Show

He still felt that the presence of Christ was within the Eucharist, and conceded his reluctance to
admit to transubstantiation in a letter to Thomas Cromwell. In the letter, Cranmer admitted that he
found the anti transubstantiation writings of Adam Damplip to be quite compelling. This was
quite a position for Cranmer to take, considering he was at one time so fervent in his position on
transubstantiation that he was responsible for eleven of the executions of people who refuted
the belief in the real blood and body presence of Christ in the Eucharist. In Cranmer s True and
Catholick Doctrine of the Sacrament Cranmer describes a spiritual presence of Christ in the
Eucharist. This moved away from the Zwinglian theory of memorialism (which Cranmer did
explore briefly) and was more cohesive with the Calvinist view. He says that those who worthily
eat and drink of the bread and wine receive his spirit within the sacrament. He determined that
there was a two fold presence of Jesus Christ within the Eucharist and described the figurative
presence that occurs when the consecrator repeats the words of Christ at the last supper to remind
us of Christ s sacrifice and that the spiritual presence exists for those who worthily eat and drink. In
the prayer book of 1549 we are permitted a glimpse of the real presence and spiritual presence
debate that was

Mood 11: Jazztet Muted had a fast tempo that created a dynamic feel. The flute would call and the
drums would respond. The use of call and respond made the piece feel very well put together. This
mood mainly focused on a smooth piano solo and a flute solo. Mood 12: Show Fare, Please was the

Analysis Of The Poem Utnapishtim Immortality
Matthew Loper Ms Teresa Wells World Lit 2423 363 September 21, 2015 Utnapishtim
Immortality Utnapishtim was granted immortality for the simple fact that Enlil hated him and
wanted to punish him with eternal life. Utnapishtim was told by Ea that the flood was coming,
and he knew that would be the end of mankind. Utnapishtim said to Ea Your command, my lord,
exactly as you said it, I shall faithfully execute. (pg73 line 33) Ultimately he developed a plan to
save himself and the people. His plan was to construct a huge boat and when the floods came the
people would be on the boat and not be killed. Utnapishtim knew he had to have a plan in order
for the construction of the boat to be completed. He was very smart with his plan and knew how
to bring the people together and for the boat to be finished in time. In order for his plan to work
he had to come up with a story to tell his people. He had to have a believable story so they would
follow him and not think he was crazy. He asked Ea for advice on this matter, and asked what he
should tell the people. He was told to tell the people that Enlil is angry with him and that he must
find a new place to live. The story works and the people stand blindly behind him. For seven days
straight Utnapishtim sacrificed a lamb or a bull in a celebratory manner and the people feasted

South Carolina State Flag Essay
The history and culture of the state flag The south and especially the state of South Carolina is a
place where tradition and heritage is almost as important as the people that live in it. It is these
cultural inclinations that bring certain groups together. And for this reason the South Carolina
state flag is a symbol that represents the long lasting history that this state is known for. A lot of
stress has been brought to South Carolina about its flags and its history, but history is exactly
what it is. The symbolic meaning behind this flag brings a sense of state pride and cultural
awareness as it is extremely important to understand where you came from to figure out where you
will be going. Seeing that the original flag was brought by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The first state flag was actually shown and presented by South Carolina stamp act protesters in
1765. The banner that the protesters displayed did indeed have not one but three white crescents
on a blue background. Colonel William Moultrie in 1775 was asked by the South Carolina
voters to design a banner for the use of South Carolina State Troops. Moultrie decided to
approach the flag with a simplistic and direct design that displayed the crescent on a blue field.
The new flag was the same blue color of the soldier s uniforms and the silver crescent was the
symbol that the soldiers wore on the front of their caps. The crescent moon was not the only
form of symbolism used for the state flag also the flag has a palmetto tree, which is to high
importance and relevance to the state of South Carolina. The Palmetto tree, which is the South
Carolina State Tree, was added because of the use it had in the defense of Sullivan s Island
against an attack in 1776 during the American Revolution. British ships were not able to take
down the walls of the fort which were built by Palmetto logs. The cannonballs would eventually
have no effect on the fort because the soft palmetto tree would absorb the impact of the shock
given by the cannonball and simply fall of. The trees were a huge factor in the winning of that

The prophets are difficult to interpret mainly due to misunderstandings about their function and
form (Fee/Stuart p182). Most dictionaries define the word prophecy as foretelling or prediction of
what is to come. Using the prophets in this way is highly discerning, for less than 2% of OT
prophecy is messianic; less than 5% describes the new covenant age and less than 1% concerns
future events (Fee/Stuart p182). The prophets usually announced the immediate future of Judah,
Israel and the surrounding nations, rather than our future. Those events were forthcoming for them
but past for us (Fee/Stuart p182). The primary function of prophets as a spokesperson was to speak
for God to their own contemporaries. Of the hundreds of prophets in... Show more content on

The Exegetical Task: Some parts of the Bible call for time and patient revision to understand.
Some people find help in Bible dictionaries, commentaries and Bible handbooks (Fee/Stuart
p189). Fee and Stuart feels that everyone needs to understand both the prophets era and the
context of a single oracle (Fee/Stuart p190). The words spoken by the prophets at a variety of
times and places are written down without any indication as to where one oracle ends and another
begins (Fee/Stuart p193). The prophets employed an assortment of literary forms. 3 of the most
common are: The lawsuit , God is portrayed as the plaintiff, prosecuting attorney and judge against
the defendant, Israel (Fee/Stuart p194). The Woe, Woe oracles implicitly or explicitly contain an
announcement of distress, the reason for distress and a prediction of doom. The promise , This
contains an allusion to the future, a mention of radical change and blessing (Fee/Stuart p195).
Hermeneutical Suggestions: What is God s word to us through these inspired oracles, spoken in
another time to God s people? Once we understand what God said to them then, we will hear it
again in our own surroundings (Fee/Stuart p199). The prophets messages were concentrated on the
near rather than the distant future (Fee/Stuart p200). Sometimes the New Testament makes

Platelet Confusion
Platelet transfusion
There is no fixed platelet count threshold in ICU patients that signals platelet transfusion (93), but
because of hemorrhage fear there is a widespread notion that the platelet count should be
maintained over 100X109/L in massive bleeding or when bleeding occurs at dangerous sites such
as in intracranial hemorrhage (94).
In addition to platelet count, the risk of hemorrhage is also dependent on the hematocrit and the
bleeding time (95). So, red blood cell transfusion should also be considered as a part of a
supportive therapy, if needed (17).
Despite these recommendations, it should be born in mind that platelet transfusion is not a risk free
procedure and may cause several potentially fatal complications such as contamination,

Australia Is A Romantic Action Adventure
National Cinema is often used to describe simply the films produced within a particular nation state
. (Higson, 2015) Nations have distinctive stylistic devices, often featuring stereotypical settings and
characters in the attempt to represent the essence of the nation s culture. This is apparent when
comparing the Australian drama, Australia(2008) with A Separation (2011), an Iranian drama. Both
films reflect through a set of norms, behaviours, beliefs and customs their nations culture,
demonstrating that films are not made in a vacuum. (Smith, 2015)
Australia is a romantic action adventure, directed by Baz Luhrmann, set in Australia prior to World
War II. The plot centres on an English aristocrat who inherits a large cattle farm.... Show more

However, when he discovers the new maid has been lying to him, he realizes that there is more at
stake than his failing marriage. (iTunes, 2011)
In relation to national cinema, the combinations of social and cultural factors strongly influence the
setting of a film. Australia references the old Australian language and traditional Aboriginal
terminology including herd, mouthorgan, rush, station, willy willy, whitefellas, billabong and more
(Park, 2011), Australians have an inherent understanding of this language however an international
audience would not be familiar with it. The very nature of the language makes Australia
identifiable to the country in which it was created. The portrayal of character is also a depiction
of the film s national origin. In Australia, the drover , is not only the character s name but also a
colloquial term that refers to an experienced stockman, who moves livestock, usually sheep or
cattle over long distances. (New South Whales State Library, 2013)
Australia both identifies the visual appeal of the landscape traditions (Khoo, Smaill and Yue) and
harsh reality of the Australian bush. Breaking the romanticized illusion of the land. One example
of this is when Lady Ashley is first travelling to Faraway Dawns . She notices a mob of kangaroos
jumping past her vehicle, she comments on their elegance and how she has never seen one before.

Olaudah Equiano And The Abolitionist Movement
One example of a black individual who was a significant influence on the abolitionist movement
was Olaudah Equiano (also known as Gustavus Vassa) a freed slave that spoke about his
terrifying life story which helped contribute towards the end of the slave trade. Equiano was born
in 1736 and bought his freedom as a slave in 1767. Equiano began his involvement in the
abolitionist movement in the 1780 s when he published his best selling book The Interesting
Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equianoor Gustavus Vassa, the African in 1789. At the time, many
Britons thought Africans were illiterate but Equiano proved them wrong as he could wield the
English language well and learnt several skills whilst still a slave. Furthermore, his book... Show

Douglass was introduced to the movement in 1841 when a man named William Coffin heard one
of his speeches at an anti slavery meeting and was so impressed with his oratorical skills that
Coffin invited him to share his story as a slave in a convention organised by the Massachusetts Anti
Slavery Society (MAS). This therefore supports my previous discussion that black people could
contribute to society and live normal lives without white people diminishing their human rights and
privileges and making them slaves.
Douglass got his passion to promote freedom for all slaves after he escaped from slavery and
ultimately had an end goal to abolish slavery in all its forms and aspects, and promote the moral
and intellectual improvement of the coloured people and hasten the day of freedom to the three
million of enslaved fellow countrymen . He also wrote several autobiographies describing his
experiences as a slave. One of the autobiographies in particular, Narrative of the Life of Frederick
Douglass, an American Slave published in 1845 was a best selling and was extremely influential for
promoting the cause of abolition. The narrative shows a compelling argument to basic human rights
thus making it extremely influential as the narrative clearly possesses features and linguistic skills,
which for most white people, negated their common perception of black people being illiterate in
the 19th century.

Zeus Role In Greek Society
Throughout Greek myths, Zeus plays a highly important role because he is the king of the gods,
involved in many mortals lives, and continually effects these mortals lives. This effect mirrors
many norms within Ancient Greek society which was highly focused on male figures who dictated
the decisions of families and individuals and their choices were often not questioned or change by
others. This presents a difference from many aspects of modern society, and at times, this difference
shocks modern audiences interacting with Greek myth. Specifically, one can find actions and
characteristics of the god Zeusby examining his role in the myths of the Rape of Persephone, Io,
and Heracles that would shock modern audiences.
A well known myth involving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This myth details the capture of Persephone, the daughter of Demeter and Zeus, by the god
Hades, the brother of Zeus. Three specific details about this myth are of interest when examining
the character of Zeus. First, the traditional Greek version of this myth uses verbiage meaning the
violent seizing and carrying off of someone or something to describe Hades taking Persephone
(DeBloois, 1997). This detail becomes important in the context of the actions taken by Zeus
throughout the myth. Hades is given Zeus s permission to create a trap to distract and capture
Persephone (Morford, 2013, p. 339 340). Zeus allows for this in order to appease Hades,
assumedly because Hades is confined to the Underworld. This does demonstrate a peacemaker
aspect of Zeus s character, specifically a peacemaker among the gods. The second detail from
this myth that further supports this characteristic of Zeus is his actions after Persephone has
been captured. Zeus ignores Persephone s cries for help as Hades is taking her to the
Underworld (Morford, 2013, p. 340). Ignoring her cries reinforces this peacemaker idea because
he does not act against Hades or take back his previous approval, despite the audible cries from his
daughter. These actions, despite being

Taking a Look at Polylactic Acid Polymers
Introduction
Investigations into developing a more sustainable and eco friendly aspect of every day life are
becoming a major priority. Without such investigations or developments in not only the food
packaging sectors, but in many other major industries, this planet along with its inhabitants will
surely succumb to the human lust of consumerism and ultimately the waste that such hunger
produces. The implantation of ecofriendly green packaging options would see a sharp decline in
the amount of waste that is produced each year and give the ability to recycle and to produce
new items from previously used packaging. In this report the team discuss the concept of
biodegradable plastics and their future implementation as green food packaging alternatives to
the current form of non eco friendly plastics that are in existing use. Biodegradability refers to a
composites ability to be degraded by bacteria or other living organisms, plastics such as these can
also be susceptible to water and ultraviolet rays as sources of decomposition with this aspect being
discussed within the chapters of this report. As apart of this report, team members assess the
discovery, life cycle as well as the current or future applications of three different types of bio

Individuals try to find happiness, but like water or air, it is hard to clench in your hands. As
defined in Merriam Webster (2014), happiness is a state of well being and contentment. However,
happiness is hard to achieve, but it can be as simple as being contented, doing what you love, and
living who you really are. Furthermore, everyone asks how one would know that they have it
already.
Happiness is hard to achieve. Some people follow several steps in order to get what they want.
People have unlimited wants. However, not all the things they want can give them happiness. Like

One should be the captain of their own ship in order to be happy. Despite the fact that happiness
seems unattainable, it can be as simple as being contented. It is something that comes from people s
action. People should do what they need to. They make things happen and pursue new
understandings. They need to have a sense of purpose. Without purpose, everything is lost. If
people have a sense of purpose in their life, they can easily fulfill their satisfactions. Satisfying
their wants would make them happy. However, being happy is not all about satisfying people s
wants. It is also about being contented with what they have. The growth of happiness is directly
proportional to acceptance and inversely to expectations (Fox, 2007). Acceptance of the things
around a person, whether it is good or bad, can make one truly happy. In everything people do,
one must follow where their heart is. From the simplest things to the hardest ones, people must
follow their heart. In making their decisions and choosing their options, it is best to consult their
own feelings. Following one s heart would really make one happy. It would also avoid regrets in
the end. Since they chose what they really love, they would freely accept whatever the result is.

Explain Why We Should Be Able To Carry Concealed Handguns
Another major reason why we should be able to carry concealed hand guns is for the protection
of our self, families and other. The opponents support prohibition of guns as they claim concealed
handguns are not effective methods of self defense. A person carrying a concealed gun for self
defense is more likely to be shot during an assault than a victim who has no gun. Victims having
guns are 4.5 times likely to be shot in an assault than victims without guns as they are not able to
use concealed guns as attackers overpower them and also surprise them. In everyday life, there is
a chance you will be put in a situation where self defense will be needed and there is also a
higher chance that the criminal or person you are protecting yourself from will be armed. We can

Compare Eisenhower And Truman At War
Both men, Eisenhower and Truman, reaffirmed that nothing in the coming campaign could damage
their friendship, but that very quickly fell apart. After various misunderstandings, the ultimate fall
out for the pair revolved around two men, Joe McCarthy, a scoundrel both men abhorred, and
George Marshall, a statesman both men widely respected. This disagreement about these two men
was the great divider that set Eisenhower and Truman at war. Only after many years once
Eisenhower was out of the office would the two rekindle their friendship. The duo faced many
political and personal problems that led to their untimely deterioration. The first setback for the pair

The Scheduling Of Project Management
Hypothesis: The scheduling in project management is the discipline for stating how to complete a
project within a certain timeframe, usually with defined stage, and with designated resources. The
project schedule reflects all of the work associated with delivering the project on time. It shows
how the work will progress over a period of time and takes into account factors such as limited
resources and estimating uncertainty. Without a full and complete schedule, the project manager

Climate change is expected to negatively affect the future of most developing countries, increasing
the pressure on available resources that are associated with urbanisation and industrialisation(102).
With these affects in mind, Altomonte explains the mitigation and adaptations strategies to mitigate
the possible consequences of climate change. He highlights the issue of buildings, and how they
highly contribute to the issue of direct fossil fuel emissions, and therefore it is necessary that
buildings reduce their dependency on fossil fuels, curb their energy demands, exploit clean power
sources and minimise their wastes(103). Suitable technologies must therefore be integrated into the
design of current buildings to guarantee social, economic and environmental growth. Using new
design strategies is necessary to create buildings that ensure comfort and health of the staff, as well
as do not negatively impact the environment. To create such a building all fields of study must be
included, inclduing physchology, climatology and engineering so that there is whole understanding
of the necessary features for the building to reduce emissions and include necessary social, econmic
and cultural values (106). Altomonte states how these conditions of a new climate, now seem
unavoidable(99), but there is solutions to be made to

They constantly disregard the people s privacy and there personal life. In his essay Civil
Disobedience Henry David Thoreau, speaks on how a free society would be much better than
one that is harshly governed. He is a strong believer that people should do what they think is
right and wrong, not what the government tells you to do. If a plant cannot live according to its
nature, it dies; and so a man (Thoreau). He states that a man should do what he thinks is morally

a man. If nature has been self sustaining for as long as the world has been around, Thoreau
strongly believes that a man should live by his own rules for the short amount of time that he is

government abuses their power a lot in the sense of security or privacy. Government is best that

Three Years She Grew by William Wordsworth, There Will Come Soft Rains by Sara Teasdale, and
The Sound of Night by Maxine Kumin, explain the relationship between nature and other forces
like mankind. These poems contain instances of power between nature and mankind. In order to
create the power struggle, the authors use tone, mood, and form to their advantage. Tone, mood,
and form influence how power affects the relationship between nature and mankind. Three Years
She Grew uses tone to create a caring and maternal feeling. Nature uses its... Show more content on

This poem explains that both nature and humans are equally struggling. Kumin writes, Birds
huggermugger crowd the trees,/ the air thick with their vesper of cries. The birds are crowded in
their space. They continue to make a lot of noise disturbing the night. On the other hand, the
humans, And now on the narrow beach we defend ourselves from dark... and lie in our blankets
/ while night knickers around us (Kumin). The humans are struggling as well. They are sitting
around trying to get through the night. The night proceeds to be set as eerie, Now every voice of
the hour the known, the supposed, the strange,/ the mindless, the witted, the never seen / sing,
thrum, impinge, and rearrange/ endlessly (Kumin). The different types of voices described make
the reader wonder why these voices seem to make them feel uncomfortable. The humans and nature
are both shown to be similar in that one is no better than the other. They both have equivalent
problems and feelings. The relationship of power between nature and human beings is influenced
by tone, mood, and form. Humans and nature compare and contrast in interesting ways. Some
authors believe, as shown in their writing, that nature is the more powerful component in the
relationship, but others disagree. Nature and human beings have a relationship that can be defined
in many different ways. Poems Three Years She Grew by William Wordsworth

Promoting Resilience in Nursing
Promoting Resilience Resilience is defined as a person s ability to weather adversity and come
out of it with a stronger ability to deal with the next challenge (Mosby s Medical Dictionary,
n.d.). Resilience can be noted as a trait within an individual as well as a process through which a
person undergoes during adversity (Jacelon, 1997). Measuring resilience can be done by
assessing certain qualities within an individual and asking questions to elicit better understanding
of their current psychological state (Wagnild Collins, 2009). Nurses must have a thorough
comprehension of resilience and how to measure and promote this among individuals who are
met with health challenges. By doing this nurses are better able to provide holistic client centred
care and inform the nursing profession. Defining Resilience Resilience is a term that is often
applied to those who have faced hardship and viewed the experience in a positive light as an
opportunity to grow and change for the better (Wagnild Collins, 2009). The definition however
seems to vary from place to place. Ungar et al. (2008) stated definitions of resilience are ambiguous
when viewed across cultures (p.174) which is why the understanding of resilience may be difficult
to capture (as cited in Windle, Bennett Noyes, 2011). Although the literature agrees on several
common themes about resilience there are many varying opinions on how to define the concept or
the attributing factors. Earvolino Ramirez (2007) and

Have you ever thought about the similarities and differences of a menu and a flashlight? Well, this
is what this mini essay is about! A menu is a list of dishes available at a restaurant and their prices,
and a flashlight is a battery operated portable light.
These objects have quite a few things in common. They are both beneficial for survival. For
example: a flashlight can lead someone to safety if it is too dark and a menu indicates any
allergens which means they save lives! Also, they could be used to highlight something. A
flashlight accentuates useful information that is needed for the situation and a menu could
emphasize a Weekly Special . Who knows, what if you will need a flashlight to read a menu?
However, there are many

Topic
This paper explores the concept of cultivation theory and the way in which violent programming on
television can instil fear and influence perceptions when it comes to experiencing crime in the
community. In using research findings to explore their hypothesis, the authors focus on analyzing

reality, in this case a life threatened by crime, incongruous or actual crime rates.
Context
The context of this paper fits neatly within a number of fields and disciplines spanning
communication, sociology, politics, criminology and education. Published in the flagship journal of
the International Communication Association for an academic readership, it is thorough and

The Ego and Despair in Ordinary People Essay
The Ego and Despair in Ordinary People
Ordinary People by Judith Guest is the story of a dysfunctional family who relate to one another
through a series of extensive defense mechanisms, i.e. an unconscious process whereby reality is
distorted to reduce or prevent anxiety. The book opens with seventeen year old Conrad, son of
upper middle class Beth and Calvin Jarrett, home after eight months in a psychiatric hospital, there
because he had attempted suicide by slashing his wrists. His mother is a meticulously orderly
person who, Jared, through projection, feels despises him. She does all the right things; attending
to Jared s physical needs, keeping a spotless home, plays golf and bridge with other women in her

It keeps resurfacing. Won t leave you alone. Conrad s slow but steady journey towards healing
seems partially the result of cathartic revelations which purge guilt feelings regarding his brother s
death and his family s denial of that death, plus the love of a good woman. Jeannine, who sings
soprano to Conrad s tenor... There is no doubt that Conrad is consumed with guilt, the feeling one
has when one acts contrary to a role he has assumed while interacting with a significant person in
his life, This guilt engenders in Conrad feelings of low self esteem. Survivors of horrible
tragedies, such as the Holocaust, frequently express similar feelings of worthlessness. In his
book, Against All Odds , William Helmreich relates how one survivor articulates a feeling of
abandonment. Did I abandon them, or did they abandon me? Conrad expresses a similar thought
in remembering the sequence of events when the sailboat they were on turned over. Buck
soothes Conrad saying, Okay, okay. They ll be looking now, for sure, just hang on, don t get
tired, promise? In an imagined conversation with his dead brother, Conrad asks, Man, why d you
let go? Because I got tired. The hell! You never get tired, not before me, you don t! You tell me
not to get tired, you tell me to hang on, and then you let go! I couldn t help it. Well, screw you,
then! Conrad feels terrible anger

Comparing Tristan And Isolde Vs. Lancelot And Guinevere
Love can be a person s greatest gift or curse that will bring them to their demise. It infects their
mind, controls their actions and consumes their thoughts with the singular obsession of being
around their love. In the love stories, Tristan and Isolde and Lancelot and Guinevere, the characters
face problems of the soul, and that bring about monumental repercussions to everyone around them.
In both of these works, the characters experience loving someone out of reach. Their loveis taboo; it
will never be accepted because of their circumstances. This causes a rift in their stream of
normality and forces actions to be made. Love triangles emerge since the characters are trying to
find a way to achieve their goals but still keep what they have. In both of the stories, Tristan and
Isolde love each other similarly to Lancelotand Guinevere. All they can think about is each other.
(insert quote). Lancelot went behind his king s back to be with Guinevere just like Tristan. Both of
them knew that each of their kings was with the woman they love, but both realized that no matter
what they did their relationship would be forever confined to the shackles of secrecy, darting
glances of affection and sporadic moments of privacy. The relationship between the enamored men
and their kings is different. Tristan was the stepson of the king, and it hurt him, even more, to see
his beloved with his father. While on the other hand, Lancelot s situation was a little different.

Zimbardo s Prison Experiments
Zimbardo s (1971) Stanford s prison experiment concluded that people will readily conform to
the social roles they are expected to play, especially if the roles are as strongly stereotyped as
those of the prison guards. However, the study has received many ethical criticisms including the
lack of informed consent from participants, as even Zimbardo did not know what was going to
happen within the experiment. The participants playing the role of prisoners were not protected
from psychological harm, experiencing incidents of humiliation and distress. As an example, a
prisoner had to be released after 36 hours due to uncontrollable bursts of screaming, crying and
anger.
In Zimbardo s defence, the emotional distress experienced by the prisoners could not have been
predicted. Extensive group and individual debriefing sessions were held and all participants
returned post experimental questions several weeks and months later, then at yearly intervals. It
was concluded there were no lasting negative effects. However, Zimbardo s experiment did have an
effect on psychology as a science as it made psychologists look deeper into the ethical implications
of experiments. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

U. M Attending University
Why go out of state if the University of Minnesota (U of M) has the right amount of education I
need? I believe the U of M is the best choice of a college for me. They have well priced expenses, a
large amount of clubs, and they have good medical schools. Overall, the U of M has many choices
for me to choose from that will build my education.
The main reason I want to join the U of M is because I want an education. The U of M has many
different majors to study, and I would like to major in Doctor of Pharmacy. U of M s Collegeof
Pharmacy has been ranked in the top three pharmacy schools in the nation. Some classes I would
have to take are mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology. The admission for this degree is at
an average of 53%, and about 98% of their students complete their program and pass. I am able to

Community Engagement In The Community
Engaging ourselves as well as engaging in the community with issues of our society makes us open
to different things. Community engagement is the process of working with individuals and groups
to achieve specific goals. It involves community members with making decisions and taking action.
This process of creating a relationship with communitymembers in society that can maintain a
mission with an ultimate goal of making something better. It s an ongoing process with
collaborative work, cooperative dialogue, collective decisions and shared ownership. There are
many different activities that community engagementis involved with, which are community
service, internships, voter s registration, service learning and etc. The primary focus of community
engagement is the practice of moving communities towards change.
The transformation from high school to college was very big for me. Only because I was a
loner and I didn t really get involved with groups nor did I have a social life outside of playing
basketball. When I came to college I made up in my mind that I was going to change. Once I was
introduced to the four pathways that Methodist offered I decide to choose community
engagement. Community engagement fits me best because it gives me a chance to interact with
people and also voices my opinion. I wanted to work on enhancing this aspect because I m a very
shy person with a lot to say. The program would also give me some good information to learn from
and gain knowledge.

The Disaster Of Hurricane Katrina
Hurricane Katrina was a catastrophic natural disaster in American history. The aftermath had
substantial negative impact on New Orleans and it could have been avoided if proper disaster
management practices were put in place. Therefore, it is important to determine the factors that
caused the hurricane to be catastrophic. One factor that was responsible for the disaster was failure
of the three levels of the government working cohesively (Thiede Brown, 2013). The incoherent
interaction between the three levels of government will be assessed. Another factor that will be
examined is social and psychological refusal of Hurricane Katrina(Thiede Brown, 2013). Lastly, the
improper constriction levees and floodwalls will be addressed (Thiede Brown, 2013). By narrowing
down the substantial factors, the government and public can learn from the disaster management
mistakes of Hurricane Katrina so aftermath effects can be prevented/alleviated in the future.
Recommendations for improving disaster management practices can also be provided and would
be beneficial in saving many lives.
Introduction
Hurricane Katrina is the most expensive natural disaster in American history (Kates et al., 2006).
This is supported by the statistics from August 2006, where the death total surpassed 1836 and the
cost of the destruction was projected to be near $108 billion (Kates et al., 2006). On August 29, it
made landfall in Louisiana as a category 3 Hurricane and its aftermath was devastating

A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens
A Tale of Two Cities has several recurring themes, including the failure of the French Revolution. In
the book, the peasants defeated the aristocrats by imprisoning and murdering them. Although many
of the imprisonments and executions were unjust, the peasants had gain complete power. The
peasants revolution did not end the tyranny that existed with the aristocrats ruling, but created a
new tyranny with lack of justice and mercy.
Dickens uses the evil Monsieur the Marquis to represent the tyrannical French aristocracy. The
Marquis recklessly runs over and kills a peasant child. Dickens shows his lack of any sympathy
and mercy for the peasants at this scene by stating, Monsieur the Marquis ran his eyes over them
all, as if they had been mere rats come out of their holes. He thinks of the peasants as nothing
more than rats as do the entire French aristocracy. However, the revolution does not result in any
positive change. After the peasants obtained power, they have the same lack of sympathy and
mercy toward the aristocracy or enemies of the Republic. In Lucie s conversation with the Wood
Sawyer, we see he is no better than Monsieur the Marquis, as he takes joy in the execution of
aristocrat children. I call myself the Samson of the firewood guillotine. See here again! Loo, loo,
loo; Loo, loo, loo! And off HER head comes! Now, a child. Tickle, tickle; Pickle, pickle! And off
ITS head comes. All the family!
Dickens uses symbols and motifs to support his theme of

Obamacare Persuasive Speech
Cayla Gonsowski
Griggs
7th period

Should Obamacare be repealed?
As of now, many Americans have problems with their health care and the two political parties, the
Republicans and the Democrats, are split on the issue. The past president, Barrack Obama, enacted
the Patient Protection and the Affordable Care Act, commonly called Obamacare, on May 23rd,
2010.
After the first attempt to repeal Obamacare failed, a skinny repeal of Obamacare was put in place
to repeal only parts of Obamacare. This repeal also failed with a Senate vote of 49 51, not repealing
Obamacare.
Although most Americans are not happy with their healthcare, Obamacare should not be repealed
because its repeal would result in coverage loss, prices to rise, and it would take a step backward in
health care rather than solving the main concerns Americans have about health care.
Although health care is already very expensive in the United States, the result of the repeal would
only raise the premiums more so. If Obamacare were to be repealed, the individual mandate would
follow along with it. The individual mandate is a rule that everyone has to purchase insurance.
Analysts have said that health insurance would become more expensive and cover fewer people
(Sanger Katz 2). With the influence of the individual mandate, healthy people tend to buy insurance,
reducing the average cost of coverage (Sanger Katz 2). Without the individual mandate, healthy
people would not be buying insurance, causing

The Beauty Of Dystopia By Aldous Huxley
The beauty of dystopia is that it lets us vicariously experience future worlds but we still have the
power to change our own. (Ally Condie). Dystopian Literature is intriguing as it exposes the
reader to sometimes unconventional concepts and can also serve as a warning to what may
become of society if the wrong path is chosen. In literary works of Brave New World, there are
many warnings that the author Aldous Huxleyestablishes through events that take place in the
civilized world. In this dystopian society we can observe that science is the thriving fragment
that holds society together but it seems to demoralize and mitigate human morals and values. It
is also apparent that love and family are non existent in this society as sex is meaningless and
having a baby is considered a big shame. Some literature such as the works of Shakespeare and
holy books are banned in society in order eliminate outbursts from people who become too curious
and possess a threat to social stability.
Science is important and beneficial to any thriving society. In this dystopian society science is
what keeps it together and functioning the way that the world controllers would would like it to
be. Science is used in a way that mitigates what a human should be through its oppressive powers.
People are oppressed through the taking of soma which is a mass produced, government approved
hallucinogen that relaxes the person and gives them the sense of happiness when it is not truly there.

Descent From The Cross Analysis
Group 1, Question A
Catalina s masculine behaviors in her autobiography demonstrates how gender was socially
constructed in both Europe and America during the colonial era. One scene in particular is,
Meanwhile, some boys noticed me and surrounded me until, annoyed, I picked up some rocks
and injured one of them (I don t know where because I didn t see) They arrested me and kept me
in jail for one long month until he healed and they released me, with a little money remaining after
my expenses (2). In this scene she stands her own ground against a group of men with violence
rather than submitting to them or running away. Women during this era were not expected to
defend themselves or fight back. That is more acceptable action for men to perform. Her violent
behavior put her in jail not because she is unjust for defending herself, but because she struck a
man and it was not socially acceptable for a woman to do so. During this era women were not
scene to act violently or hit men because it was not a norm or an action women for women to do.

Title III of the E Government Act, entitled the Federal Information SecurityManagement Act (FISMA) requires each federal agency to develop, document, and implement an agency wide program to provide information security for the information and systems that support the operations and assets of the agency, including those provided or managed by another agency, contractor, or other sources (Staff, 2016). FISMA was amended by The Federal Information Security Modernization Act of 2014. The amendment was established to modernize the Federal security practices to focus on security concerns. The results of these changes will strengthen continuous monitoring, continue focusing on agency compliance, and report on issues caused by security incidents. FISMA, Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 and the Information Technology Management Reform Act of 1996 (Clinger Cohen Act), clearly highlights the plans for a cost effective security program. It ran from 1914 to 1918 and was held in various places spread across Europe. Over 60,000 Australians lost their lives which was over 1 percent of the population at this time. As you can imagine, this had a tremendous impact on the home front. The war did contributed a variety of positive and negative influences to the civilian population of Australia. The main aspects that received dramatic changes due to World War 1 were the roles of women, political issues and the Australian economy. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conscription is the idea of compulsory enlistment for a state service, typically into the armed forces. The controversy between pro and anti conscription divided the Australian population during the course of the war. Conscription was mainly supported by those who had never stepped foot near a battlefield. Propaganda played a large role in pressuring men into enlisting. An example of where propaganda pressured men into volunteering for the Australian Imperial Force, is Appendix 1. The motive of this poster is successful as it implies that fathers would be shameful to ignore the plight of women as well as, promoting a sense of guilt. Anti conscription propaganda also depicted or appealed to women. For instance, anti conscriptionists would call a vote for conscription, a blood vote, reminding women they were possibly sending men to their deaths. This strategy of manipulating people s emotions proved to work as in Dec 1917, the 2nd referendum on conscription rejected it. This debate influenced the entirety of Australian society as citizens were bombarded with propaganda and the opinions of others. At the beginning of the war the Federal Government gained great jurisdiction through the War Precautions Act. This was was introduced as commonwealth would need to increase its authority to prosecute war effectively. Along with this, the Constitution was also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The impact obesity has on a child can become life changing. According to the CDC if current trends continue, 1 of 3 U.S. adults will have diabetes by 2050 (Evans, W, 2006). Behind the mask of obesity is a child that falls into the trap of fast foodadvertisement. Overall, the fast food industry should be more socially responsible and not direct their marketing strategy of unhealthy food choices to children; this will cut down the percentage of children suffering from childhood obesity that leads to various health issues. One might object here, that it is a free market and freedom of speech is part of the U.S. Constitution. However, everyone has a different opinion about fast food and boudaries must be respected. Still the fast food market is targeting children too often and too much, even involving Schools to advertise unhealthy food in exchange for funding. One may argue, children learn by example, parents are responsible for leading them in the right direction of how to make healthy food choices. With this being said, parents are beginning to become concerned with how the fast food is being marketed to children. • 11. James C Collins Clock Building, Not Time Telling This paper will explore the concept of Clock Building, Not Time Telling, as presented by James C. Collins and Jerry I. Porras in their book, Built To Last: Successful Habits of Visionary Companies. The goal is to identify the underlying reason and rational behind architects of visionary companies and how they left their mark for generations to come through something larger than a single act or product. Through compelling facts and research about companies, a change in thought has occurred. For the enterprises and start ups of tomorrow, leaders must strive to be clock builders. By becoming these grand architects, the leader s greatest creation, the company itself and what it stands for, (Collins and Porras 23) must stand above and beyond anything else. This is the crucial claim discovered by Collins and Porras by investigating key factors. Through exploring two entrenched business myths, they revealed that visionary companies were built upon something greater and grander than originally thought. • 12. A Dream Deferred By Langston Hughes In the poem Dream Deferred (1951) by Langston Hughes, he proposes some of the positive and undesirable effects of putting a dream on hold, through powerful imagery. It seems he himself does not exactly understand what happens when a dream is deferred , or he has not yet experienced it. Through a series of questions and rhymes, he gives ideas on what an aspiration becomes when it is forgotten or put aside to take care of other things. Each line is introduced with a question except for the fifth line, which still begins with a maybe , showing the doubt the speaker has about this dreamthat is left to the side. Every line comes with a certain amount of confusion and uncertainty. He is uncertain of what this dream has become, what it will be,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Just like the second line in the poem, you eventually give up on this dream you have after it sits idly, serving no purpose; it just wears away. The next line reads Does it stink like rotten meat? Or crust and sugar over like a syrupy sweet? This time he is questioning if it eventually begins to deteriorate and stir up a lot of issues, or perhaps it was the wrong dream and it haunts the reader. The second sentence negates this prediction, describing it as a dream that needed to be put on hold for a specific reason, or that other significant matters had to be taken care of before they proceeded with this aspiration; it needed to be delayed in order for it to turn into something great, or sweet as Hughes portrays it. Maybe it just sags like a heavy load. was the only line in the poem that did not include a question mark, but it was still ambiguously suggested. The author proposes that the dream could become a burden, weighing you down. The more you push the dream away, the more demanding and vexing it becomes. This heavy load could also be viewed as a drive to follow the dream, instead of letting it fade away. The weight pushes you to persevere and stick to this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Our species is a species of explorers, and sure, we may not know everything about our suspended blue orb; we probably never will. This case study will introduce the key contextual language differences between Japan and Singapore and the different language education policies of the two countries. Specifically, the historical background concerning the use of English in the two countries, the political landscape involving the role of English, the mentality towards English and lastly the teaching of English. In the past English was the language of the Singaporean government when Singapore was a British colony. Since then it has been a wellspring of economic resource. Meanwhile English has never held official status in Japan and the citizens of japan can make a comfortable living for themselves without the need for English in daily activities. English interestingly is very prominent in Singapore but has little use in Japan. Touching on attitudes, Singaporeans are fully embracing English while in contrast Japanese people still have lingering doubts. Certainly English education in Japan is heavily criticised however English education in Singapore is commensurate to other English speaking developed nations. • 16. Thomas Cranmer s Presence In The Eucharist It has been widely contended that Thomas Cranmer s thoughts on the presence of Christ in the Eucharist had wavered throughout his time as a theologian, and that his writings are somewhat ambiguous when it comes to addressing this important theological topic. Many academics agree that Cranmer is not overly notable for his clarity in writing and concede that this ambiguity, especially on writings of the presence in the Eucharist, is due to the long and uneven evolution of his understanding of the presence. According to Daniel Marrs, a biographer was once quoted in saying that Cranmer was a man of liberal sympathies and a man of extraordinary charm and goes on to say that Cranmer s abilities as a leader was questionable at best because Cranmer s... In the letter, Cranmer admitted that he found the anti transubstantiation writings of Adam Damplip to be quite compelling. This was quite a position for Cranmer to take, considering he was at one time so fervent in his position on transubstantiation that he was responsible for eleven of the executions of people who refuted the belief in the real blood and body presence of Christ in the Eucharist. In Cranmer s True and Catholick Doctrine of the Sacrament Cranmer describes a spiritual presence of Christ in the Eucharist. This moved away from the Zwinglian theory of memorialism (which Cranmer did explore briefly) and was more cohesive with the Calvinist view. He says that those who worthily eat and drink of the bread and wine receive his spirit within the sacrament. He determined that there was a two fold presence of Jesus Christ within the Eucharist and described the figurative presence that occurs when the consecrator repeats the words of Christ at the last supper to remind us of Christ s sacrifice and that the spiritual presence exists for those who worthily eat and drink. Utnapishtim knew he had to have a plan in order for the construction of the boat to be completed. He was very smart with his plan and knew how to bring the people together and for the boat to be finished in time. In order for his plan to work he had to come up with a story to tell his people. He had to have a believable story so they would follow him and not think he was crazy. He asked Ea for advice on this matter, and asked what he should tell the people. He was told to tell the people that Enlil is angry with him and that he must find a new place to live. The story works and the people stand blindly behind him. This therefore supports my previous discussion that black people could contribute to society and live normal lives without white people diminishing their human rights and privileges and making them slaves. • 25. Zeus Role In Greek Society Throughout Greek myths, Zeus plays a highly important role because he is the king of the gods, involved in many mortals lives, and continually effects these mortals lives. This effect mirrors many norms within Ancient Greek society which was highly focused on male figures who dictated the decisions of families and individuals and their choices were often not questioned or change by others. This presents a difference from many aspects of modern society, and at times, this difference shocks modern audiences interacting with Greek myth. A well known myth involving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This myth details the capture of Persephone, the daughter of Demeter and Zeus, by the god Hades, the brother of Zeus. Three specific details about this myth are of interest when examining the character of Zeus. First, the traditional Greek version of this myth uses verbiage meaning the violent seizing and carrying off of someone or something to describe Hades taking Persephone (DeBloois, 1997). This detail becomes important in the context of the actions taken by Zeus throughout the myth. Hades is given Zeus s permission to create a trap to distract and capture Persephone (Morford, 2013, p. 339 340). Zeus allows for this in order to appease Hades, assumedly because Hades is confined to the Underworld. This does demonstrate a peacemaker aspect of Zeus s character, specifically a peacemaker among the gods. The second detail from this myth that further supports this characteristic of Zeus is his actions after Persephone has been captured. Zeus ignores Persephone s cries for help as Hades is taking her to the Underworld (Morford, 2013, p. 340). Ignoring her cries reinforces this peacemaker idea because he does not act against Hades or take back his previous approval, despite the audible cries from his daughter. He highlights the issue of buildings, and how they highly contribute to the issue of direct fossil fuel emissions, and therefore it is necessary that buildings reduce their dependency on fossil fuels, curb their energy demands, exploit clean power sources and minimise their wastes(103). Suitable technologies must therefore be integrated into the design of current buildings to guarantee social, economic and environmental growth. • 38. Promoting Resilience in Nursing Promoting Resilience Resilience is defined as a person s ability to weather adversity and come out of it with a stronger ability to deal with the next challenge (Mosby s Medical Dictionary, n.d.). Resilience can be noted as a trait within an individual as well as a process through which a person undergoes during adversity (Jacelon, 1997). Measuring resilience can be done by assessing certain qualities within an individual and asking questions to elicit better understanding of their current psychological state (Wagnild Collins, 2009). Nurses must have a thorough comprehension of resilience and how to measure and promote this among individuals who are met with health challenges. By doing this nurses are better able to provide holistic client centred care and inform the nursing profession. Defining Resilience Resilience is a term that is often applied to those who have faced hardship and viewed the experience in a positive light as an opportunity to grow and change for the better (Wagnild Collins, 2009). The definition however seems to vary from place to place. Ungar et al. (2008) stated definitions of resilience are ambiguous when viewed across cultures (p.174) which is why the understanding of resilience may be difficult to capture (as cited in Windle, Bennett Noyes, 2011). Although the literature agrees on several common themes about resilience there are many varying opinions on how to define the concept or the attributing factors. Earvolino Ramirez (2007) and ... It infects their mind, controls their actions and consumes their thoughts with the singular obsession of being around their love. In the love stories, Tristan and Isolde and Lancelot and Guinevere, the characters face problems of the soul, and that bring about monumental repercussions to everyone around them. In both of these works, the characters experience loving someone out of reach. Their loveis taboo; it will never be accepted because of their circumstances. This causes a rift in their stream of normality and forces actions to be made. Love triangles emerge since the characters are trying to find a way to achieve their goals but still keep what they have. In both of the stories, Tristan and Isolde love each other similarly to Lancelotand Guinevere. All they can think about is each other. (insert quote). Lancelot went behind his king s back to be with Guinevere just like Tristan. Both of them knew that each of their kings was with the woman they love, but both realized that no matter what they did their relationship would be forever confined to the shackles of secrecy, darting glances of affection and sporadic moments of privacy. The aftermath had substantial negative impact on New Orleans and it could have been avoided if proper disaster management practices were put in place. Therefore, it is important to determine the factors that caused the hurricane to be catastrophic. One factor that was responsible for the disaster was failure of the three levels of the government working cohesively (Thiede Brown, 2013). The incoherent interaction between the three levels of government will be assessed. Another factor that will be examined is social and psychological refusal of Hurricane Katrina(Thiede Brown, 2013). Lastly, the improper constriction levees and floodwalls will be addressed (Thiede Brown, 2013). By narrowing down the substantial factors, the government and public can learn from the disaster management mistakes of Hurricane Katrina so aftermath effects can be prevented/alleviated in the future. In the book, the peasants defeated the aristocrats by imprisoning and murdering them. Although many of the imprisonments and executions were unjust, the peasants had gain complete power. The peasants revolution did not end the tyranny that existed with the aristocrats ruling, but created a new tyranny with lack of justice and mercy. Dickens uses the evil Monsieur the Marquis to represent the tyrannical French aristocracy. The Marquis recklessly runs over and kills a peasant child. Dickens shows his lack of any sympathy and mercy for the peasants at this scene by stating, Monsieur the Marquis ran his eyes over them all, as if they had been mere rats come out of their holes. He thinks of the peasants as nothing more than rats as do the entire French aristocracy. However, the revolution does not result in any positive change. After the peasants obtained power, they have the same lack of sympathy and mercy toward the aristocracy or enemies of the Republic. • 51. Obamacare Persuasive Speech Cayla Gonsowski Griggs 7th period 11 Aug 2017 Should Obamacare be repealed? As of now, many Americans have problems with their health care and the two political parties, the Republicans and the Democrats, are split on the issue. The past president, Barrack Obama, enacted the Patient Protection and the Affordable Care Act, commonly called Obamacare, on May 23rd, 2010. After the first attempt to repeal Obamacare failed, a skinny repeal of Obamacare was put in place to repeal only parts of Obamacare. This repeal also failed with a Senate vote of 49 51, not repealing Obamacare. Although most Americans are not happy with their healthcare, Obamacare should not be repealed because its repeal would result in coverage loss, prices to rise, and it would take a step backward in health care rather than solving the main concerns Americans have about health care. Although health care is already very expensive in the United States, the result of the repeal would only raise the premiums more so. If Obamacare were to be repealed, the individual mandate would follow along with it. The individual mandate is a rule that everyone has to purchase insurance. Analysts have said that health insurance would become more expensive and cover fewer people (Sanger Katz 2). With the influence of the individual mandate, healthy people tend to buy insurance, reducing the average cost of coverage (Sanger Katz 2). Dystopian Literature is intriguing as it exposes the reader to sometimes unconventional concepts and can also serve as a warning to what may become of society if the wrong path is chosen. In literary works of Brave New World, there are many warnings that the author Aldous Huxleyestablishes through events that take place in the civilized world. In this dystopian society we can observe that science is the thriving fragment that holds society together but it seems to demoralize and mitigate human morals and values. It is also apparent that love and family are non existent in this society as sex is meaningless and having a baby is considered a big shame. Some literature such as the works of Shakespeare and holy books are banned in society in order eliminate outbursts from people who become too curious and possess a threat to social stability. Science is important and beneficial to any thriving society. In this dystopian society science is what keeps it together and functioning the way that the world controllers would would like it to be.
