Genealogy Is The Study Of Family History
Are you interested in history? Are you interested in learning about what your relatives did before
you? Genealogy is the study of family history. Genealogy is a fun yet addictive hobby. To get
started in genealogy there are two steps to start searching for your family history. The first step
towards starting your familytree is to gather as much information from living relatives. It is a
good idea to interview as many different relatives as you can. There are several ways one can go
about preserving your family history. One can use a video camera and take video of the relative.
Another method for getting the information down is to audio record an interview with the relative.
Yet if one so desires they could also take notes on a computer. Note taking on a computer is an
easier form to record the family information in. However you decide to record your information
be sure to get your relative s permission before choosing a method. It may make them
uncomfortable if you are interviewing them with a video camera without prior notice. What kinds
of questions should one ask when starting a genealogical interview? Some example questions
could be: Asking your relative when they were born; What they remember as a child; or family
stories. Family stories are excellent sources of information since they give greater insight into
other family members. The best way to get family information is to get as many family stories in
as much detail. Once you get all the details from your

A Study On Reading Comprehension
Reading with Briana: A Case Study in Reading Comprehension There is a great concern over the
increase of struggling readers. Studies show that when students get off to a poor start in reading,
they rarely catch up (Kelly and Campbell, 2012, para. 1). These students are confronted with the
negative ramifications of failing grades, remedial services, grade retention, and low self esteem.
The question of how to best help struggling readers is on the minds of teachers and parents alike.
Reading Comprehension We read to understand, to comprehend; otherwise, reading is only a
meaningless act of word calling. Thus, how well students develop the ability to comprehend what
they read has a deep effect on their lives (Texas Education Agency, 2015). Readers with poor
comprehension usually do not have the needed strategies to help them understand. They may not
have sufficient decoding skills, lack background knowledge or vocabulary, or be unaware of text
structure and organization. The combined effects of these obstacles result in increased frustration, a
loss of confidence, and a loss in a desire to read (Texas Education Agency, 2015). The best way to
help struggling readers with comprehension is to directly teach them comprehension strategies and
build up their comprehension through environments that support literacy. It is essential to empower
students with these strategies to enable them to become active, deliberate readers. The teaching of
comprehension strategies

What Is Deception In Much Ado About Nothing
In Shakespeare s Much ado about nothing, there are many instances of deception, which seem to
encompass the plot of the play. The deception may be evil or sometimes benevolent but the entirety
play depends on these deceptions and how they affect the other characters. The characters in Morley
Callaghan s Getting on in the World , use deception for their own benefits. Both Ado about Nothing
and Getting on in the World examine the idea of how deception depends on the intentions of the
deceiver, it could either promote happiness, intend harm on another or even for self benefit.
In the second Act of Shakespeare s Much ado about Nothing, the brave young soldier, Don Pedro
was causing deception to happen by playing Cupid for Beatrice and Benedick

The Issue Of International Relations
The issue of (in)security is increasingly present in academic debates and in national and
international political agendas. In the light of this scenario, many different theories in the field of
International Relations aim to explain (in)security in the modern world. One of the most influential
approaches is the theory of securitization , developed by the Copenhagen School , in which the
work of Ole Wæver, Barry Buzan, and others stand out. Moving away from traditionalist views on
security, this theory proposes that an issue will be considered an existential threat to be countered
not because it possess an objective danger in itself but because it was shaped/constructed, through a
process called securitization, to be perceived in that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After that, an investigation about the development of the construction of the drug dealer as a threat
within the Brazilian context will be held. Finally, the analysis will focus on the security policies
adopted by the government of Rio de Janeiro in relation to the drug issue. Here, it will be given
more attention to the phenomenon of the militarization of civil public space, and particularly of
security apparatus, as everyday forms of state coercion. In this sense, the model of community
policing called UPP (Pacifying Police Units) implemented in slums will be explored, and so the
military invasions that preceded the establishment of these units.
Like many states in Latin America, Brazil suffers from high rates of urban violence and an
ongoing militarized conflict against illegal drug dealing. Influenced by the North American
conservative politics in the 70s, the war on drugs has recycled the internal enemy from the image
of the subversive that is a result of the cycle of military dictatorships to the drug dealer , and has
created conditions for the intensification of a real bellicose security agenda to contain the problem
(Batista and Lopes, 2004, p. 8).
Regarding the security policies, since 2008, the Security Bureau in Rio de Janeiro initiated the
establishment of a Police Pacification Units program (UPP) in the slums. Based on the Colombian
experience of MedellГn, the public security

Manipulation And Jealousy In Shakespeare s Othello
In the play Othello by William Shakespeare, Shakespeare introduces the theme of manipulation,
jealousy, and villainy. The play revolves mainly around the two characters Iago and Othello and
their relationships with each other and their close ones. Before inspecting the hidden motives of
Iago s plot to sever Othelloof his relationship with Desdemona, one must inspect Shakespeare s
reason to include Iagoin the play. The key to unlock all doors in Othello might lie in the
behavioral attitude of Iago through the perspective of the famous philosopher and writer of
Leviathan, Thomas Hobbes. Thomas Hobbes was a 17th century English philosopher who
received the majority of his philosophical views from the English Civil War a war that created a
large amount of bloodshed and economic downfall. Hobbes, who was a peaceful thinker and
despised the concept of violence of any kind, decided to cast his views into the book Leviathan,
which describes the concept of man obeying any sort of government that would prevent brutal
bloodshed and chaos, even an imperfect government,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Roderigo became the beast of himself when he could not suppress the desire of stealing
Desdemona away from Othello. The characters of Othello were easily manipulated by the evil
Iago, with the end result being their deaths. The play was concluded with the death of several
members: Desdemona, Emilia, Roderigo, Brabantio, and Othello. With the death of all these
people, the one person that is not mentioned to be dead and could possibly still be alive is Iago.
Iago s survival serves as a symbol of evil and how evil always find a way to live; it will not escape
from this world, and will remain deep within people, seeking a chance to pounce when the right

`` Nineteen Eighty Five `` And `` The Lesson `` By Toni...
Inequality is an extremely prominent issue in today s society, but typically goes unnoticed by
the younger generation. Alice Walker s short story Nineteen Fifty five and The Lesson, by Toni
Cade Bambara, both share stories of two innocent minds that are made aware of the racial split
through personal experiences. In Nineteen Fifty five, Traynor, a young white boy, receives fame
and fortune from a song that was written by a black woman named Gracie Mae Still. Traynor
and Gracie Mae form a close bond that exposes the young artist to the hardships the writer faced
while trying to follow her dream of being a singer. In The Lesson, Miss. Moore, a college
graduate, takes responsibility upon herself to teach and guide all the poor, young children in her
town. She takes them to New York City, despite all the negativity from the kids, and allows them
to realize the extreme economic and racial inequality in society. Both of these stories show young
kids being stripped of their innocence when experiencing the sad reality that lies outside of their
sheltered world. The kids of The Lesson are not voluntarily exploring the city whereas in Nineteen
Fifty five Traynor is curious about the background of Gracie Mae thus leading him to discover the
inequalities of the world. Despite the different reasons, both stories allow the groups to realize not
only the social differences between whites and African Americans but also the economic gap which,
although may be initially harsh,

Gender Stereotypes Of Women In Game Of Thrones
The creators of the blockbuster HBO series Game of Thrones clearly relish in challenging gender
stereotypes of women in the United States. Set in a fictional medieval time period, the world of
Game of Thrones is divided into 4 landmasses, but much of the series takes place in Westeros and
Essos. The main plot line centers on the leading characters fighting one another to gain power and
control of the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms. Arya Stark, challenges all female stereotypes
with her unique fighting skills and warrior like abilities to put up with anything that gets in her way.
Arya Stark is the diminutive and youngest daughter of Lady Catelyn and Lord Eddard Stark of
House Stark of Winterfell, the rulers of the North. Arya rejects the impression that she must grow
up to be a lady with proper etiquette and marry for influence and power. She believes she can
create a different path for her life as she is riveted by warfare and swordplay and bored with
gossip, jewelry and other lady like activities. Whereas many TV shows depict Shill 2 women as
sensitive and weak, Game of Thornes turns away from these traditional stereotypes and depicts
Arya Stark as a true warrior who uses her grit, intuitiveness and fighting abilities to outsmart almost
anyone in the series.
In the opening scene of Game of Thrones, Arya Stark and her sister Sansa Stark are knitting a
quilt in a classroom full of women. The camera pans to Arya s face which basically says it all, she

Three Abrahamic Religions
Etymologically, the word religion is derived from three Latin words, ligare (means to bind),
relegere (means to link, to unite), and religio (means relationship). To analyze this definitional
sourcing , Omeregbe states that religion is essentially a relationship; a link established between two
persons, namely, a human person and a divine person believed to exist. (Omeregbe) This
relationship is commonly expressed in most religions by their adherents. Especially in the three
major monotheistic religions of the world Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, whose followers all
revere Abraham as a common ancestor. These three faiths are therefore considered Abrahamic faith
or Abrahamic religionbecause they share the patriarch Abraham in their lineage, although he plays

One of the outstanding similarities of the three Abrahamic religions aforementioned is that, they all
claim a direct lineage to Abraham in their religious texts. The central reference of Judaism Torah,
recorded Abraham as the ancestor of the Israelites through the covenant he made with God; in the
Christian Old Testament, Jesus told his followers that Abraham is our father in Faith (John 8:39);
Abraham is mentioned as the first pioneer of Islam in Quran. Yet despite the bloody interchanges
among Judaism, Christianity and Islam throughout history, Abraham is the underlying tradition that
unifies the three faiths together. More importantly, Abraham forms a foundation on which all three
religions have built upon and from which each religion has developed different beliefs and ideals
that set them apart from

The Five Stages Of Listening
There are five stages of listening, receiving, understanding, remembering, evaluating, and
responding. The five stages overlap. In receiving, you need to focus your attention, maintain your
role and avoid assuming that you understand. In understanding, it is important that you see the
speaker s messages from their point of view. It is also helpful to rephrase their message to be clear
and also ask questions to clarify or confirm that you understand their message. The third stage is
remembering, you need to focus on the main idea, organize what you hear, combine what you knew
previously and repeat important information to yourself such as names and information. Next is
evaluating, you should wait until you fully understand what the speaker... Show more content on

My mother then, closes her laptop and asks my father to repeat his question. She heard: what was

Facebook, was the mental distraction. My mother could have said, please turn the TV down, and
looked directly at my father while he spoke. She did neither, until she ask him to repeat his
question. She only did this after, she questioned his response (this time, he did turn the TV down
and she had his full attention). My second example, is lack of appropriate focus. In this example,
my mother is discussing our next Florida trip with me. She begins by telling me that we are going

Looking Into the Past in Vonnegut s Slaughter House Five
In the spring of 1945, near the end of World War II, American and British bombers rained a hail of
fire upon the city of Dresden, Germany. With an estimated 135,000 dead, Dresden is known as one
of the deadliest attacks in History, nearly twice as many deaths than the atomic bombing of
Hiroshima. Kurt Vonnegut was among the few who lived through the firestorm; he wrote a book
about it in fact. Slaughter House Five (1969) is a fictional recount of his experience of the war.
Many of the events (at least the parts set in WWII) are real experiences of Kurt. The people in the
war are, for the most part, real; Vonnegut just changes all the names. The main character, however

This isn t Billy s first travel through time, just the most important. Back in Germany, the
American troops arrive at what will be their lodging for the next few days. The Americans
eventually move to a prison in Dresden. They are put to work, going on with their prisoner lives
in what some seems to be a peaceful German city during the war. Of course, there is no surprise
when the sirens shriek and planes fly by, dropping their deadly arsenal on the city below. Billy and
a few other men live through the bombing and find the city as desolate as the moon.
Slaughter House Five is obviously an anti war book, but there s more to it than that. Vonnegut
believes that the human trait of looking back can make us aware of our problems (such as war)
and, hopefully, be able to fix them in the future.
From the beginning to the end, Billy never stops time traveling. He travels to times ranging from
his childhood to his death and back again. Billy s time travels aren t like time travel that you
normally think of, with the time machines and the parallel time lines (think Back to the Future:
Part Two.) When Billy travels through time, he just starts living different parts of his life.

made or traumatic events that occurred in their life. For some people, these moments in their
minds can be as real as if they were living them over again,

Examples Of Insecurities In The World s Wife
In The World s Wife, Duffy challenges recognized historical, fictional and mythological characters
from the perspective of the women, reflections on relations between men and women, the
responsibilities and experiences of partners and lovers, for whom love and relationship are more
complicated than feelings others get. Some of these poems are touched with resentment, others
with blush worthy love. The combination of theme and stylistic variation means that the reader
cannot help but prefer some pieces to others. Instead of shock tactics and personal experiences, she
seemed to create more complex and interesting view.
The theme of insecurities appears throughout the poem as Duffy feels like male are leaving women
based on their appearance. The poem Medusa clearly shows many examples of insecurities. Medusa
is one of the Gorgons three sisters from Greek mythology, famous for having snakes for hair and
for turning people to stone. Medusa has always been well known among people, and was well
known for having unapproachable looks but Duffy tells her story so that the reader can gain
sympathy for Medusa, a monstrous character. The poem begins with A suspicion, a doubt, a
jealousy. This conveys how jealousy has turned the woman into a monster, and how now everything
she looks at turns to stone, which connects to the original mythology. This feeling of doubt and
insecurities continues throughout the poem, as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However in the poem, Duffy makes the reader see a distressed lady, who becomes paranoid
through jealousy as she feels like her husband is betraying her because of her looks, and further
damages the relationship between them. Medusa is insecure, turning herself into a Gorgon. She
turns everything into stones as the climax builds up, and this suggests that an insecure woman
could be the most powerful person later as she gets distressed and betrayed by a

Essay on The Mask Of Apollo
quot; The Mask of Apollo quot; revolves around the adventures of Nikeratos, a young actor who
travels the countryside of ancient Greece and Sicily while performing in various plays. In one play,
Kadmos by Sophokles the Younger, Nikeratos is required to wear an old mask of Apollo as part of
his costume. The mask is fifty years old and is rumored to bring good luck. Nikeratos is impressed
with the mask and comes to believe that it possesses special powers. He begins to make reverent
gestures toward it as when he places a bay sprig above it and sprinkles drops of wine on the floor in
front of it.

This places Nikeratos in the middle of the political turbulence involving Dionysios the Younger and
the rule of Syracuse. Faction fights begin which result in Dionysios exiling Dion. Plato is moved
into a house in Palace Park where Dionysios can keep a watchful eye on him. Nikeratos is also
forced to end his traveling around the country because of the fighting. Plato is later released when
the Carthaginians attack and war begins.
After several years, peace is declared. This is good news for Nikeratos and other actors because
tours can now be scheduled again. This allows Nikeratos to once again travel and interact with the
powerful people of the era. At the same time, Dionysios is resolved to have Plato return. Dionysios
uses Plato s loyalty to Dion as a method of manipulation. Dion encourages Plato to return to
Syracuse in the hope that Plato can secure his own return. When Plato refused to return to Syracuse,
where he is hated and threatened by the soldiers, his relationship with Dion becomes strained.
Eventually, as the pressure Dionysios and Dion put on his friends builds, Plato agrees to return.
Despite the return, Dion s property is sold and Dionysios shows no sign of recalling him.
Dionysios is reportedly jealous of the relationship between Plato and Dion, as he himself now
desires to be Plato s favorite.

Review Of Pieces Mended By Film, And Digital Art
Title: Pieces Mended Modality: Movement, Drama, Film, and Digital Art Materials: Samsung
Galaxy Edge, HP stream, Filmora editing software, and music by The Used. Flashback: The
year was 2002, I was standing on the corner waiting for the van to take me to therapy. The outfit
that day was likely a black hoodie, studded belt, family guy t shirt, skinny jeans, and checkered
vans. The music blasted through foam covered Sony headphones that looped behind my neck.
The song Pieces Mended by The Used (2002) played on a beat up disc man, which was decorated
in yellow caution tape, duct tape, and sharpie marker. Three minutes passed felt more like a decade.
I remember thinking that the entire situation was bullshit and no medication, or amount of therapy
was going to help me. The only ingredients that would ensure a smooth day were whiskey, a wine
flavored dutch, and my bed. The song lyrics supported my decision to ditch therapy that day,
because honestly, what did they know about anything. The lyric, fuck it, I m fine became my motto
for the next few years (The Used, 2002). Present Day Detailed memories from childhood and
adolescence are difficult to remember, but the emotions that arise in association with being fifteen

and sees that she can maybe get married and leave her fathers side once in for all. So she faces
the decision which will either make her life wonderful or horrendous. She must choose weather

She had consented to go away, to leave her home (890). In the long run Eveline made a wise

Spanish settlements in Northern America were primarily established for gold and silver for
example they forced slavery on Indians to work in gold and silver mines. Another example stands
in Hernando Cortez, upon conquering the Aztecs, besieged their capital city and stole their gold
and other precious resources. Unlike the English the Spanish were much more willing to integrate
cultures like the French. Intermarriage between Spanish and Native Americans was very common
which formed a new ethnicity which established a cultural peace between Spanish and Natives.
However, they still dominated the Natives to ensure they can fully exploit the natural resources.
Some argue that the Spanish did try to make reforms as Bartolome de Las Casas attempted for a
milder policy against Natives. However, these attempts were futile as no major changes occurred.
The devout Catholic Spaniards were much more aggressive than their counterparts on religious
matter. They forced the Natives to convert using the encomienda system and the missions they set
up. Overall, they were not as bad as the English, but they were not on as great of terms with the

A three day concert that rolled into a fourth day, involved a lot of drugs, music, and mud. It soon
became a symbol of what is known as Woodstock Nation , which is the term used to describe
young people who distrusted authority and standard American values. In the sixties the word hippie
had a negative connotation to it, making this festival more frowned upon than anything. This
festival was also considered a reaction to conservative attitudes of post World War I.
Woodstock is now synonymous with love, peace, and zenith of sixties hippidom, but these things
came close to being known by the altogether less peaceful name of Wallkill, which is where
organizers had originally planned to hold the festival until objections from other residents
threatened to sink the entire project ( Where )
The traffic surrounding Woodstock was insane. On the Friday morning of the festival by 7 am
there was already traffic everywhere within a mile of the venue. After a few more hours there
was traffic jams up to 20 miles outside the venue. The police reported an increasing number of
abandoned on the shoulders of the highways as people decided it would be easier and faster just
to walk to Bethel. Before the festival even started an estimate of the people in the surrounding area
and on the festival grounds had already reached 400,000. Sullivan county was described as a great
big parking lot.

The Nuclear Bomb Of Hiroshima And Nagasaki
Who is good and who is Evil? Many of us go through life thinking that whatever we do must be
what is good, never questioning authority and blindly following a government that is thought to
be incapable of doing evil. After World War II, many Americans felt a sense of nationalism. They
were proud of the fact that their military destroyed Nazi Germany and Imperialist Japan. However
this euphoric patriotism can often blind the holder. In August of 1945, the United States Military
dropped two nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. There were noble reasons for dropping
the bombs, but surely destroying two entire cities questions the integrity of the United States. So
again I ask, who is good and who is evil? After the events of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the United
States was eager to learn more about the impacts of nuclear devices on the environment. The United
States set up several nuclear bomb tests on the Marshall Islandsin which they properly planned for.
However one test, code named Operation Castle, went horribly wrong. Scientists involved in the
test claim they expected an explosive yield of four to six megatons, but instead a yield of fifteen
resulted. For reference, this is one thousand times greater than the yields of both the Hiroshima and
the Nagasaki nuclear bombs (Huard). Many people believe this was merely a lapse in judgement,
however I believe there is evidence that the United States government intentionally created a
disaster in order to study the effects of

On 4/25/18 I met Ms. Bambrick for her follow up an appointment with Psychiatrist Dr.
Hillenberg. Ms. Bambrick wants a provider to work with her in coping with the life changing the
aspect of this injury and recovery and coordinating her pain medications during her recovery.
Her goal is to reduce her pain and her pain medication needs at some point. Unfortunately, Dr.
Hillenberg is going to retire and is focusing more on the management end of his practice. He did,
however, make some recommendations. Ms. Bambrick needs a psychiatrist and a psychologist

The Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was passed in 1988 by Ronald Regan (Davis 4.3.). This act
was shaping for compromise between US federal government and Indian tribes. Also, Indian tribes
hope to be able to protect their own sovereignty, and the US government was tended to regard
gaming under their control. According to the Casino Roots by Jessica R. Cattelino mentioned, it is
a powerful image, yet one that renders gaming resources external to indigenous economic and
political action. Similarly, studies of casinos impact on indigenous communities implicitly render
gaming as a capitalist project that acts upon indigenous peoples (1). The government passed this

Important Issues of Leadership in William Shakespeare s Richard II Richard II was one of
Shakespeare s political works depicting the rise and fall of King Richard II. Richard became king
of England as a boy at 10 years of age, although his advisors made most of the political decisions of
the kingdom until he matured. During this maturation period, Richard was more interested in
learning about aesthetic things in life rather than things more responsible to the monarch. He had
very little experience and talent in the areas of military tactics and his decisions relating to the
monarch seemed arbitrary. These traits that Richard displayed were not befitting to a king and a

In addition to banishment, Henry was also unfairly taken of his families wealth, land, and title,
from which he was the rightful heir. Henry contrasted Richard in many ways, in that he was
honest, and very practical. Furthermore, Henry was very reluctant to assume the role of future
King, eventually accepting after urging and support from the other nobles. While Richard left
England to oversee the progress of his foreign war, Henry and the other nobles began plans to
take Richard s kingdom. This was a crucial mistake on Richard s part. By not taking care of
issues on the domestic front, Richard s followers and soldiers grew increasingly weary of his
ability to lead and be an effective king, eventually siding with Henry. Henry proceeded to capture
Bristol Castle, a stronghold of Richard s and began his plans on being ordained future king.
Upon Richard s return to England, he learns of the events that had transpired in his absence. At
first his own arrogance allows him to believe that since it is his God given right to rule as King,
he will be protected. But then just as quickly, Richard s arrogance turns into despair upon the
realization that Henry has gained support of the nobles and the people of England. Henry and
Richard finally meet at Ramparts Castle leading to the climax of the play. Henry demands

Attic Insulation Research Paper
Tips For Adding Attic Insulation To Your Home
If you re tired of shivering in your home when the weather turns cold, it s probably time to install
new insulation in your attic and walls. While you ll probably need to hire a contractor to blow
insulation in your walls, you can install attic insulation yourself if you have basic home
improvement skills. Here are a few tips that may help.
Choose Your Insulation Material
Blankets and blow in insulation are easy to use if you want to install the insulation yourself. The
blankets come in standard sizes that you can unroll on the attic floor. You ll need to cut them to fit
around vents, pipes, and anything else that gets in the way, but for the most part, you can simply

To do this, you can buy foam baffles at a home improvement store and place them along the walls
and ceiling if necessary. They allow air to circulate behind them so you won t have to worry about
leaving a space between the insulation and your walls.
Also, before you put in the blanket or loose insulation, be sure to seal all the cracks, vents, and
pipes with spray foam insulation from a can. Check for air leaks around windows and other
openings and seal any you find with caulk or the spray foam.
Once your attic is prepped, you can install the insulation of your choice. Work from the walls
towards the center of the room near the door. When you re finished with the floor, add some
insulation to the door too. You can do this by taping a piece of blanket insulation or foam
insulation board to the back of the door. Then seal the door with weatherstripping so no cold air
can leak through the cracks. If your home still seems too cold after you ve added insulation in
your attic, check other areas of your home such as the exterior walls, crawlspace, basement, and
even the floors in your home. By insulating these areas too, you ll make your home even more

The National Spelling Of America Essay
Every year, millions of students, no older than in eighth grade, compete in local level spelling bees
with hopes of making it to the ultimate spelling competition, the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Held at the end of May or beginning of June each year, millions of spectators around the world
watch the bee, which is held just outside Washington, DC. The Scripps National Spelling Bee, while
a fantastic educational experience, both for learning the ins and outs of the English language and
for learning about the history of America, is in dire need of reform. I propose to you, the
executives of the E.W. Scripps Company, that the Scripps National SpellingBee reform the
competition by determining the number of spellers from each state in a way that is proportional
to the state s population, standardizing the difficulty of bees prior to the national level, and
decreasing the value of points earned from the new addition of vocabulary. While spellers
competing at the national level follow various paths to earn their coveted spots, people from
certain geographic areas have a tremendously easier path than others. This difficult discrepancy is
largely based on the number of spellers that each specific state allows to progress to the national
level each year. In the 2016 Scripps National Spelling Bee, sixteen states, including Hawaii,
Mississippi, and Nevada, sent only one speller from the entire state, while states such as Ohio and
California sent nineteen and seventeen respectively

The Adventure of the Hero (Part One)
Prologue
In The Hero with a Thousand Faces, Joseph Campbell dives into his theory that every culture s
myths share a sense of universality. In other words, all the myths of each culture stem from a
common ancestor, or idea. Campbell shows a very headstrong opinion on his theory, as if it is a
universal truth that cannot be altered because this theme will always be the one, shape shifting yet
marvelously constant story that we find. His use of the word shape shifting insinuates that these
myths are different but simply changing slight form from the original, which is not an actual myth
but a collection of similar myths. The prologue lays out a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the Oedipus myth a theme that a son wants to follow his father s behaviors while loving his
mother. The son in this story unknowingly murders his father in battle before marrying his own
mother, which he did not know was his mother. Campbell believes that all myths share three
common steps in the Hero s journey: Separation initiation return: which might be named the nuclear
unit of the monomyth. One way this is enforced is through the Buddha s journey. He goes through
temptation followed by transcendence. Then, the Buddha returns to society with enlightenment.
Also, the authors referencing of other cultures, in particular North American society, is often
hidden but it still has a strong presence and message. Without a stronger awareness and deeper
meaning, the society is doomed. The prologue ends with Campbell s view of The World Navel,
which all things, in particular mythology, stems from a common image/ source. All

This leads to employees quitting from the job. Another source of conflict exists between employees;
arguments and competition for promotion, position and performance being the causes. Employees

The Conflict of Interest Inherit in Administrative Review
I.Introduction The Employee Retirement Income Security Act, better known as ERISA, has been a
major issue in healthcare litigation since its inception in 1974. ERISA governs any claim centering
on health insurance, disability insurance, or any other employer provided benefits. ERISA affects
many aspects of the American legal system, from inter state commerce to bankruptcy, and
particularly insurance and healthcare law. ERISA contains clauses for both the procedure and
substance of the law and is often preemptive over state law. There is a great deal of

Thereafter, our case quickly became a question of whether the healthcare administrator was
precluded from denying coverage for breast reduction surgery, when it had granted coverage for the
same on three previous occasions. The U.S. District Court held that the plan administrator was
precluded from denying the claim, when they had granted coverage in the exact same medical
circumstances on three previous occasions. This case is currently on appeal with the Eighth Circuit.
The issue that I found most compelling while researching ERISA procedure was the
administrative appeal process, and the standard of review to which the U.S. District Court must
adhere. The U.S. District Court was required to review a case on appeal, after the exhaustion of
administrative remedies, only for an abuse of discretion, so long as discretion had been granted to a
plan administrator within the plan. In our suit, the health insurance policy did contain a clause that
gave the administrator discretion to interpret and review, therefore our burden of proof was to
convince the U.S. District Court judge that the administrator had abused his discretion and denied
coverage beyond what the administer believed were the policy

Stamp Out Smoking Ad Campaign Analysis
Like many states, the Arkansas Department of Health is thoroughly engaged in attempting to
improve the wellbeing of its citizens. In Arkansas, there are free tobacco quitline referral
programs. Once a referral is submitted, the tobacco or nicotine user will receive a call from a Quit
Counselor within 24 hours. Anyone who is referred should be planning a quit date within the next

focuses on all aspects of smokers, the Arkansas Department of health has a strong passion to help
those who suffer from second hand smoke. Plastered throughout Arkansas cities and on nearly
every television, the ADH runs ads of children both young and old that suffer from second hand

A Summary of William Shakespeare s Henry IV Part 1
Henry IV, Part 1 William Shakespeare is considered the most important playwright of the
European Renaissance, if not the most important of all time. Each character in his collected
works is uniquely defined and highly memorable. In Henry IV, Part I, Shakespeare writes about
the struggle for the control of England during the time of the title king. Everything is in turmoil
following his ascension to the throne and his legacy is in question because of the perceived
personality of his successor to the crown. Not only does he endeavor to maintain his control of
the throne, but also vying are his son Hal who wants to takeover after his father and the rival
Hotspur who wants it for himself but also is representative of an entire faction of people who
want to rebel against Henry IV and do not feel loyal to him. Each of these men believes himself
to be rightfully entitled to become the king and this is a major theme that play out throughout
the play, namely what it means to be worthy of the title King of England; being king is far more
than a matter of luxury and power, it is a burden that only worthy men should be allowed to
undertake. For the current ruler of England, King Henry IV, he believes himself entitled because
of what he was willing to do in order to obtain the throne. The former king, Richard II, was
murdered and his chosen heir passed over by the zealous Henry. This perception of him as a
usurper of the throne spreads out to those who had once supported him. Hotspur

Scapular Muscle Rehabilitation
Introduction In regards to mobility, the glenohumeral (GH) joint is one of the best the human
body has to offer. It allows for the range of motion needed for the activities of daily living that we
have all grown accustomed to. In order to execute these motions, however, the shoulder joint needs
a stable base of support. This is one of the primary roles of the scapula and its surrounding
musculature. When the GH joint is injured, however, scapular muscleactivation, and therefore
stability and function, is theoretically altered. Many shoulderrehabilitation programs focus on
restoring proper coordination of these muscles, especially those involved with scapular upward
rotation. Until recently, however, there has not been much research supporting the relationship
between muscle activation ratios and shoulder injuries, nor the ability to preferentially activate
scapular muscles using rehabilitation exercises. Furthermore, the purpose of this study was to
determine if there are differences in muscle activation ratios between healthy individuals and those
with GH injuries, as well as evaluate muscle activation during particular rehabilitation exercises
(Moeller, Huxel Bliven, Snyder Valier, 2014).

Francisco Goya Third Of May Essay
The Third of May
Francisco Goya
I chose to my report on Francisco Goya Third of May, 1808. This painting represents the French
taking over Spain during the time Napoleon was in reign. This invasion was a two day process but
the painting is about what happened on the third of May. Napoleon chose to invade Spain because
he wanted to out his brother, Joseph Bonaparte, in power in Spain to have an alliance with Spain
to conquer Portugal (Zappella, 2014). The invasion was an ambush as the French told the Spanish
they were just passing through, but events soon quickly changed when the intentions became clear
(Zappella, 2014). According to Christine Zappella, on the third of May Spanish freedom fighters
were rounded up and massacred by the French. Their Spanish blood ran through the streets of
Madrid (2014). The artist was so profound by the evets, he recreated the uprising in his paintings
(Zappelle, 2014). The first painting Goya created was the Second of May, which is Leonardo s
Battle of Anghiari. In this painting he depicts mangled horses and bodies on the streets of France.

  • 3. Genealogy Is The Study Of Family History Are you interested in history? Are you interested in learning about what your relatives did before you? Genealogy is the study of family history. Genealogy is a fun yet addictive hobby. To get started in genealogy there are two steps to start searching for your family history. The first step towards starting your familytree is to gather as much information from living relatives. It is a good idea to interview as many different relatives as you can. There are several ways one can go about preserving your family history. One can use a video camera and take video of the relative. Another method for getting the information down is to audio record an interview with the relative. Yet if one so desires they could also take notes on a computer. Note taking on a computer is an easier form to record the family information in. However you decide to record your information be sure to get your relative s permission before choosing a method. It may make them uncomfortable if you are interviewing them with a video camera without prior notice. What kinds of questions should one ask when starting a genealogical interview? Some example questions could be: Asking your relative when they were born; What they remember as a child; or family stories. Family stories are excellent sources of information since they give greater insight into other family members. The best way to get family information is to get as many family stories in as much detail. Once you get all the details from your ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. A Study On Reading Comprehension Reading with Briana: A Case Study in Reading Comprehension There is a great concern over the increase of struggling readers. Studies show that when students get off to a poor start in reading, they rarely catch up (Kelly and Campbell, 2012, para. 1). These students are confronted with the negative ramifications of failing grades, remedial services, grade retention, and low self esteem. The question of how to best help struggling readers is on the minds of teachers and parents alike. Reading Comprehension We read to understand, to comprehend; otherwise, reading is only a meaningless act of word calling. Thus, how well students develop the ability to comprehend what they read has a deep effect on their lives (Texas Education Agency, 2015). Readers with poor comprehension usually do not have the needed strategies to help them understand. They may not have sufficient decoding skills, lack background knowledge or vocabulary, or be unaware of text structure and organization. The combined effects of these obstacles result in increased frustration, a loss of confidence, and a loss in a desire to read (Texas Education Agency, 2015). The best way to help struggling readers with comprehension is to directly teach them comprehension strategies and build up their comprehension through environments that support literacy. It is essential to empower students with these strategies to enable them to become active, deliberate readers. The teaching of comprehension strategies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The deception may be evil or sometimes benevolent but the entirety play depends on these deceptions and how they affect the other characters. In the light of this scenario, many different theories in the field of International Relations aim to explain (in)security in the modern world. One of the most influential approaches is the theory of securitization , developed by the Copenhagen School , in which the work of Ole WГ¦ver, Barry Buzan, and others stand out. Moving away from traditionalist views on security, this theory proposes that an issue will be considered an existential threat to be countered not because it possess an objective danger in itself but because it was shaped/constructed, through a process called securitization, to be perceived in that... Finally, the analysis will focus on the security policies adopted by the government of Rio de Janeiro in relation to the drug issue. Here, it will be given more attention to the phenomenon of the militarization of civil public space, and particularly of security apparatus, as everyday forms of state coercion. In this sense, the model of community policing called UPP (Pacifying Police Units) implemented in slums will be explored, and so the military invasions that preceded the establishment of these units. Like many states in Latin America, Brazil suffers from high rates of urban violence and an ongoing militarized conflict against illegal drug dealing. Influenced by the North American conservative politics in the 70s, the war on drugs has recycled the internal enemy from the image of the subversive that is a result of the cycle of military dictatorships to the drug dealer , and has created conditions for the intensification of a real bellicose security agenda to contain the problem (Batista and Lopes, 2004, p. 8). Regarding the security policies, since 2008, the Security Bureau in Rio de Janeiro initiated the establishment of a Police Pacification Units program (UPP) in the slums. • 8. Manipulation And Jealousy In Shakespeare s Othello In the play Othello by William Shakespeare, Shakespeare introduces the theme of manipulation, jealousy, and villainy. The play revolves mainly around the two characters Iago and Othello and their relationships with each other and their close ones. Before inspecting the hidden motives of Iago s plot to sever Othelloof his relationship with Desdemona, one must inspect Shakespeare s reason to include Iagoin the play. The key to unlock all doors in Othello might lie in the behavioral attitude of Iago through the perspective of the famous philosopher and writer of Leviathan, Thomas Hobbes. • 9. `` Nineteen Eighty Five `` And `` The Lesson `` By Toni... Inequality is an extremely prominent issue in today s society, but typically goes unnoticed by the younger generation. Alice Walker s short story Nineteen Fifty five and The Lesson, by Toni Cade Bambara, both share stories of two innocent minds that are made aware of the racial split through personal experiences. In Nineteen Fifty five, Traynor, a young white boy, receives fame and fortune from a song that was written by a black woman named Gracie Mae Still. Traynor and Gracie Mae form a close bond that exposes the young artist to the hardships the writer faced while trying to follow her dream of being a singer. In The Lesson, Miss. Moore, a college graduate, takes responsibility upon herself to teach and guide all the poor, young children in her town. She takes them to New York City, despite all the negativity from the kids, and allows them to realize the extreme economic and racial inequality in society. Both of these stories show young kids being stripped of their innocence when experiencing the sad reality that lies outside of their sheltered world. The kids of The Lesson are not voluntarily exploring the city whereas in Nineteen Fifty five Traynor is curious about the background of Gracie Mae thus leading him to discover the inequalities of the world. Despite the different reasons, both stories allow the groups to realize not only the social differences between whites and African Americans but also the economic gap which, although may be initially harsh, ... • 10. Gender Stereotypes Of Women In Game Of Thrones The creators of the blockbuster HBO series Game of Thrones clearly relish in challenging gender stereotypes of women in the United States. Set in a fictional medieval time period, the world of Game of Thrones is divided into 4 landmasses, but much of the series takes place in Westeros and Essos. The main plot line centers on the leading characters fighting one another to gain power and control of the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms. Arya Stark, challenges all female stereotypes with her unique fighting skills and warrior like abilities to put up with anything that gets in her way. Arya Stark is the diminutive and youngest daughter of Lady Catelyn and Lord Eddard Stark of House Stark of Winterfell, the rulers of the North. Arya rejects the impression that she must grow up to be a lady with proper etiquette and marry for influence and power. She believes she can create a different path for her life as she is riveted by warfare and swordplay and bored with gossip, jewelry and other lady like activities. Whereas many TV shows depict Shill 2 women as sensitive and weak, Game of Thornes turns away from these traditional stereotypes and depicts Arya Stark as a true warrior who uses her grit, intuitiveness and fighting abilities to outsmart almost anyone in the series. • 12. The Five Stages Of Listening There are five stages of listening, receiving, understanding, remembering, evaluating, and responding. The five stages overlap. In receiving, you need to focus your attention, maintain your role and avoid assuming that you understand. In understanding, it is important that you see the speaker s messages from their point of view. It is also helpful to rephrase their message to be clear and also ask questions to clarify or confirm that you understand their message. The third stage is remembering, you need to focus on the main idea, organize what you hear, combine what you knew previously and repeat important information to yourself such as names and information. Looking Into the Past in Vonnegut s Slaughter House Five In the spring of 1945, near the end of World War II, American and British bombers rained a hail of fire upon the city of Dresden, Germany. With an estimated 135,000 dead, Dresden is known as one of the deadliest attacks in History, nearly twice as many deaths than the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Kurt Vonnegut was among the few who lived through the firestorm; he wrote a book about it in fact. Slaughter House Five (1969) is a fictional recount of his experience of the war. Of course, there is no surprise when the sirens shriek and planes fly by, dropping their deadly arsenal on the city below. Billy and a few other men live through the bombing and find the city as desolate as the moon. Slaughter House Five is obviously an anti war book, but there s more to it than that. Examples Of Insecurities In The World s Wife In The World s Wife, Duffy challenges recognized historical, fictional and mythological characters from the perspective of the women, reflections on relations between men and women, the responsibilities and experiences of partners and lovers, for whom love and relationship are more complicated than feelings others get. Some of these poems are touched with resentment, others with blush worthy love. The combination of theme and stylistic variation means that the reader cannot help but prefer some pieces to others. Instead of shock tactics and personal experiences, she seemed to create more complex and interesting view. The theme of insecurities appears throughout the poem as Duffy feels like male are leaving women based on their appearance. The poem Medusa clearly shows many examples of insecurities. Medusa is one of the Gorgons three sisters from Greek mythology, famous for having snakes for hair and for turning people to stone. Medusa has always been well known among people, and was well known for having unapproachable looks but Duffy tells her story so that the reader can gain sympathy for Medusa, a monstrous character. After the events of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the United States was eager to learn more about the impacts of nuclear devices on the environment. The United States set up several nuclear bomb tests on the Marshall Islandsin which they properly planned for. However one test, code named Operation Castle, went horribly wrong. Check for air leaks around windows and other openings and seal any you find with caulk or the spray foam. Once your attic is prepped, you can install the insulation of your choice. Work from the walls towards the center of the room near the door. When you re finished with the floor, add some insulation to the door too. You can do this by taping a piece of blanket insulation or foam insulation board to the back of the door. Then seal the door with weatherstripping so no cold air can leak through the cracks. If your home still seems too cold after you ve added insulation in your attic, check other areas of your home such as the exterior walls, crawlspace, basement, and even the floors in your home. • 30. The National Spelling Of America Essay Every year, millions of students, no older than in eighth grade, compete in local level spelling bees with hopes of making it to the ultimate spelling competition, the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Held at the end of May or beginning of June each year, millions of spectators around the world watch the bee, which is held just outside Washington, DC. The Scripps National Spelling Bee, while a fantastic educational experience, both for learning the ins and outs of the English language and for learning about the history of America, is in dire need of reform. I propose to you, the executives of the E.W. Scripps Company, that the Scripps National SpellingBee reform the competition by determining the number of spellers from each state in a way that is proportional to the state s population, standardizing the difficulty of bees prior to the national level, and decreasing the value of points earned from the new addition of vocabulary. While spellers competing at the national level follow various paths to earn their coveted spots, people from certain geographic areas have a tremendously easier path than others. This difficult discrepancy is largely based on the number of spellers that each specific state allows to progress to the national level each year. In the 2016 Scripps National Spelling Bee, sixteen states, including Hawaii, Mississippi, and Nevada, sent only one speller from the entire state, while states such as Ohio and California sent nineteen and seventeen respectively ... The Hero s Journey Of Heroes Summary Max Donnelly Mr. McQueary English 4 period 2 8 19 15 The Adventure of the Hero (Part One) Prologue In The Hero with a Thousand Faces, Joseph Campbell dives into his theory that every culture s myths share a sense of universality. In other words, all the myths of each culture stem from a common ancestor, or idea. Campbell shows a very headstrong opinion on his theory, as if it is a universal truth that cannot be altered because this theme will always be the one, shape shifting yet marvelously constant story that we find. His use of the word shape shifting insinuates that these myths are different but simply changing slight form from the original, which is not an actual myth but a collection of similar myths. The Conflict of Interest Inherit in Administrative Review I.Introduction The Employee Retirement Income Security Act, better known as ERISA, has been a major issue in healthcare litigation since its inception in 1974. ERISA affects many aspects of the American legal system, from inter state commerce to bankruptcy, and particularly insurance and healthcare law. The U.S. District Court held that the plan administrator was precluded from denying the claim, when they had granted coverage in the exact same medical circumstances on three previous occasions. This case is currently on appeal with the Eighth Circuit. The issue that I found most compelling while researching ERISA procedure was the administrative appeal process, and the standard of review to which the U.S. District Court must adhere. The U.S. District Court was required to review a case on appeal, after the exhaustion of administrative remedies, only for an abuse of discretion, so long as discretion had been granted to a plan administrator within the plan. In our suit, the health insurance policy did contain a clause that gave the administrator discretion to interpret and review, therefore our burden of proof was to convince the U.S. District Court judge that the administrator had abused his discretion and denied coverage beyond what the administer believed were the policy ... • 37. A Summary of William Shakespeare s Henry IV Part 1 Henry IV, Part 1 William Shakespeare is considered the most important playwright of the European Renaissance, if not the most important of all time. Each character in his collected works is uniquely defined and highly memorable. In Henry IV, Part I, Shakespeare writes about the struggle for the control of England during the time of the title king. Everything is in turmoil following his ascension to the throne and his legacy is in question because of the perceived personality of his successor to the crown. Not only does he endeavor to maintain his control of the throne, but also vying are his son Hal who wants to takeover after his father and the rival Hotspur who wants it for himself but also is representative of an entire faction of people who want to rebel against Henry IV and do not feel loyal to him. Each of these men believes himself to be rightfully entitled to become the king and this is a major theme that play out throughout the play, namely what it means to be worthy of the title King of England; being king is far more than a matter of luxury and power, it is a burden that only worthy men should be allowed to undertake. For the current ruler of England, King Henry IV, he believes himself entitled because of what he was willing to do in order to obtain the throne. The former king, Richard II, was murdered and his chosen heir passed over by the zealous Henry. This perception of him as a usurper of the throne spreads out to those who had once supported him. • 38. Scapular Muscle Rehabilitation Introduction In regards to mobility, the glenohumeral (GH) joint is one of the best the human body has to offer. It allows for the range of motion needed for the activities of daily living that we have all grown accustomed to. In order to execute these motions, however, the shoulder joint needs a stable base of support. This is one of the primary roles of the scapula and its surrounding musculature. When the GH joint is injured, however, scapular muscleactivation, and therefore stability and function, is theoretically altered. Many shoulderrehabilitation programs focus on restoring proper coordination of these muscles, especially those involved with scapular upward rotation. Until recently, however, there has not been much research supporting the relationship between muscle activation ratios and shoulder injuries, nor the ability to preferentially activate scapular muscles using rehabilitation exercises. Furthermore, the purpose of this study was to determine if there are differences in muscle activation ratios between healthy individuals and those with GH injuries, as well as evaluate muscle activation during particular rehabilitation exercises (Moeller, Huxel Bliven, Snyder Valier, 2014).
