The Spanish Leaders And Indian Warriors
Mexico and Spain are two countries that started interacting with each other since the early 1500s. In
1518, Hernán Cortés (a Spanish conqueror) led an expedition to Mexico establishing the city of
Veracruz on his arrival. In 1521, Cortes and some of his men marched into the capital city of the
Aztec, Tenochtitlan. Even though the Aztecs and their emperor Moctezuma tried to persuade the
Spanish to leave, Cortés and his man did not accept. Instead, he allied with some other indigenous
people who were enemies of the Aztecs such as the Tlaxcalans in order to defeat them and take
Tenochtitlan (1). Following the Spanish Conquest, the Aztecs and Tlaxcalans had aligned themselves
with the Spaniards. Thus, most explorations were undertaken jointly with the Spanish leaders and
Indian warriors (2). A clear example of this is the expedition to Zacatecas (Northern Mexico), which
was referred as La Gran Chichimeca . The group of Spanish and Indian explorers ignored the fact that
the indigenous tribes who lived there, considered La Gran Chichimeca as inheritance from their
ancestors. Therefore, when the Spanish invaded their land in 1550, Zacatecos and Guachichile Indians
began attacking travelers and merchants, including the Spaniards. Thus, starting the Chichimeca War.
It was until the end of the sixteenth century that Alonso Manrique de Zuñiga, appointed as the Viceroy
of Mexico, offered peace and opened up negotiations. The Viceroy offered food, clothing, lands, and

Pros And Negatives Of Masonry
I will be summarizing the Article Masonry Walls: Materials and Construction by Emeritus Henry. The
article will be covering the positives of modern masonry, its uses, and much more. The author will
also touch on the use of mortar in masonry and how it is used. Masonry has been replaced by concrete
and steel for a number of uses in construction in the last century or so, but there are still many uses
today that keeps masonry relevant. Although masonry in itself calls for highly skilled workers, the
productivity has been able to keep up with its competitors by becoming better at moving all the
materials needed, as well even premaking the mortar off site so that it is ready to use once on site. One
reason that masonry has become less popular in the recent years is that it yields a very low tensile
strength compared to reinforced concrete. But in fact, reinforcements can also be added to masonry to
increase its tensile strength. There are a number of positives to using masonry. One of which being
that one material can have a number of functions; for example not only can a structure be built from
masonry, but the brick will act as a fire retardant, protectant from the elements, and also an insulator.
Another advantage to using masonry would be its durability. Masonry requires little to no
maintenance, and can last well over a hundred years if properly layed. Architects love using masonry
for their builds. Due to its wide array of colors and its flexibility the choices are

Evil Atop the Mountain of Power in The Crucible by Arthur...
There is an understood social order and staying in one s place retains balance and order in a
community or even a country. The leaders at the top are recognized to be equipped with great minds,
worthy of the peoples trust, and strong enough to make the unpopular decisions. These substantial
men in all their glory sit atop a mountain out of reach to the common man. Never would we encounter
them misusing their power for personal gain or to act under the confines of tradition that no longer
serve society justly. In the crucible the Puritans of Salem trust their divinely appointed ministers to
sweep away the evil among them. The devout and loyal colonists wouldn t expect the guardian
ministers to become the very evil they were set upon crushing. In the case that the conductor stumbles
off their intended path this error may be caught when it is too late. The train is gaining speed
consuming more and more fuel and amassing raw power. One cannot stop the train to question its new
and controversial path. In Good Night and Good Luck nuclear warfare could become reality at any
moment. America s worst fear and most hated enemy is the communist. Junior senator McCarthy takes
this opportunity to be the gallant defender of The Union. Common sense says anyone engaging in
criticizing him must be a communist and an enemy of the state. Contrary to this type of defense logic
is the possibility the procommunist critic is actually the voice of reason and truth that America
desperately needs to

Anabolic Steroid Use in Sports Summary
Anabolic Steroid use in Sports The competitive drive to win at all cost is fierce among athletes.
Winning at all cost often includes using one of many performance enhancing drugs such as anabolic
steroids. Many athletes use performance enhancing drugs, like steroids, to achieve higher goals and set
higher records than other drug free successful athletes. Although athletes are performing at higher
levels when using such drugs, what is the cost? Finally anabolic steroids should remain banned from
sports because their use results in many harmful side effects; because their use violates sports
regulations, and because their use can cause death. Anabolic steroids should remain banned from
sports because of the many harmful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another reason is the potential side effect caused by the use of anabolic steroids. Since the use of
steroids has become a trend among athletes, the number of deaths among them has risen. A lot of these
deaths are due to suicides and violent behavior as a result of the effect of these anabolic androgenic
steroids on mood. A number of recent, well publicized deaths of American football players have drawn
attention to the potential dangers of sports supplements and the raised important public health
concerns about the unrestricted availability of these products that are exempt from U. S. Food and
Drug Administration (FDA) regulation (Haller, 2002). Performance enhancing drugs are not only
dangerous and damaging; they are potentially deadly. Between 1985 and 1995, at least 121 US
athletes collapsed and died during or directly after a training session or game; most often because they
had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or heart malformations (Maron, 1996). Most of the athletes that
have collapsed and died during or directly after training session or game tested positive for some type
of performance enhancing drug. From case reports, the incidence of life threatening effects appears to
be low, but serious adverse effects may be under recognized or under reported. Data from animal
studies seem to support this possibility. One study found that exposing male

Coalitions In American Politics
Coalitions play a major role in American politics because of how greatly they shape the US political
arena. Whether between parties, officials or organizations, these allied relationships are one of the
significant factors that result in the major decision made in the U.S.. After differing parties team up
and become allies, over time, the group will have a tendency towards change. This election year of
2016 has been a noticeable period where new coalitions have been formed and others have broken
down. For their own sake, parties must strive to take lengths necessary to maintain or attain power in
the government and therefore tip the scales in their favor and achieve their goals.
Coalitions are extremely important in American society and often consist of numerous alliances

and cause a continued division within the Republican party. However, if Hillary is elected, there
would be some but no major change within the parties and the divisions that have been forming
leading up the election may dissipate. Both prior and after the 2016 election, there have been and will
continue to be considerable changes in US coalitions. In conclusion, coalitions are necessary to
consider because of the significant effect that have on American politics. It is one of the most effective
ways for a party to expand their influence, power and the decisions in government they advocate.

Analysis Of The Poem The Rocking Horse Winner
The obsessiveness of material things that will set the household s standard beyond of those common
people resulted in a tragedy that will forever be regretted. D.H. Lawrence wrote his idea of a modern
family in the 1900 s, The Rocking Horse Winner, in which the story is mostly between about the son
trying to win the love of his mother whose only objective was to be the first in everything by having
more money. The characters, the theme, and the author s style will give us the idea of what D.H.
Lawrence is trying to portrait in the story. The next paragraph will first show us how the author set up
the characterization of significant characters. In the beginning of the story, the first character to be
narrated was Paul s mother, Hester, who was indirectly characterized as an unlovable wife and mother.
Hester was also characterized as a materialistic person for she always wanted to have more money so
they could keep living in style. Hester s husband, whose name didn t mention, was also indirectly
characterized as a materialistic person. Hester believed that his husband is unlucky because he wasn t
rich and the she herself was unlucky too. Paul, Hester s son, is characterized as a child yearning to win
his mother s love and believed to be lucky. Because of this, he was urged to gamble with his uncle and
Bassett to make more money that he could give to his mother to win her love. According to Enotes,
Paul s frenzied pursuit of money differs from the greed of the others in that

and I will show a critical analysis of the current issue of whether or not to drill.

Lee, Professor of Economics. In his argument claims, that the Economic of Arctic National Wildlife
Refuge oil is so great that even environmentalist should agree to drilling, and they would probably
stand to benefit. There would be many benefits as compared to the cost. He does not deny the fact that
there would be risks associated with the drilling. In spite of this, he feels that they do not begin to
compare the benefits. Lee explains that the main reason that this has become such an intense issue is
because of high prices of oil and gasoline. Lee goes on to explain that technology has having fewer
risks involved with the drilling. This is why it is an important issue. Drilling would help reduce the
U.S. dependence on foreign sources. Richard Pombo, a Republican from California argued that there
is no logical reason to oppose ANWR drilling (Easton, 2009).
A major claim from the supporters view is that there would decrease United States dependence on
foreign oil. Although, it seems logical for the United States to drill on its own land to decrease
dependence on imported oil, but that would not be the case in ANWR. According to the U.S.
Geological Survey, there are 4 10 billion barrels of oil that can be recovered from the refuge s coastal
plain that is enough for another 4 10 months (Cunningham, 2009, p. 287). A poll from February 2000,

The difference in financial management for a for profit and not for profit organization is the nonprofits
goal is the greater good and maintain satisfactory financial condition while for profits goal is to make
profit for the owners or shareholders. Both organizations have business actives as they make profit but
in the profit in for profits are distribute profits to its owners or shareholders. Nonprofits are owned by
the public while for profit organizations are privately owned meaning Nonprofits can t sell property
upon dissolution and must give it to a similar charity when it closes. Nonprofits don t pay taxes but
still required to fill out Form 990EZ while for profit organizations pay taxes. We must also keep in
mind some organizations are both for profit and public service as they strive to balance the goal of
maximizing profits and providing service to the public like for profit school and hospitals.
The fundamental accounting equation for balance sheet is Assets (resource)= Liabilities (claims by

My First Week Of Self Led Tutoring Sessions Essay
Going into my first week of self led tutoring sessions, I was extremely anxious due to the high
expectations I placed on myself. I wanted to be able to every rule regarding grammar, confident as
recognizing errors concerning a poorly organized essay or weak thesis. In addition to these
expectations, I was also worried that I would come off as demeaning to the student or incapable of
explain why the student made an error. I wanted to establish my authority, while also ensuring that all
of my students felt like they learned something new or got clarity on something they were confused
about. As a began tutoring, I realized that my demeanor in the writing sessions, should have been the
least of my concerns. Most of my students, engaged in the writing session, felt free to ask questions,
or even laughed in the session. I think that was in part to me not taking myself too seriously in the
sessions. I naturally compliment my students, and leave most of my anxieties behind. I encourage my
students to not be reserved or afraid to tell me if they are confused, by being as transparent as possible.
This means that during several times in the session I will ask or say, Did that make sense, You look a
little confused. Let me explain that in another way, or I m sorry if I confused you before. However, I
must admit that it took me some time to accept that I can be transparent in my writing sessions. I was

The surgery itself for the organ transplant is very important and it is critical that everything goes

Transmission of West Nile virus through organ transplantation was suspected. We identified West Nile
virus infection in the organ donor and in all four organ recipients. Encephalitis developed in three of
the organ recipients, and febrile illness developed in one. Three recipients became seropositive for

Although this was a rare cause, it shows the potential of transmitting diseases and the potential
dangers of an organ transplant. In another rare case, an organ donor transmitted rabies to their

Home Depot Subcultural Group Activities
There are multiple subcultural groups in which I belong to, but two of them in which I play a part of
the most are my subcultural role as a Home Depot plumbing associate and the role I play in the anime

department. While in the home depot associate role, I expect the associates that work with me to be

Al Seckel Visual Illusions
Al Seckel, a cognitive neuroscientist, explores the idea that a violation in our visual perception can
cause us to feel a sense of joy during a TedTalk presentation in Monterey, California on February 26,
2004. He elaborates on this idea by presenting the audience with various examples of visual illusions
concerning a violation in depth, colour, shape, size, and etc. The lecture is packed with various types
of visual illusions ranging from old to new, from artists such as Leonardo Da Vinci to Arthur Ganson
and he even included several examples of the visual illusions he has created. His hypothesis regarding
the delight in visual illusions is correct, as throughout the lecture, when presented with new visual
illusions the audience is entertained and joyful.
Textual Connections
Several connections can be drawn between the topics and types of visual illusions covered in the
textbook and the types of visual illusion shown by Al Seckel in the TedTalk lecture. One of the
connections I was able to draw from reading the chapter in the textbook regarding visual illusions and
watching the TedTalk lecture was the violation of size, accomplished by using a converging line. The
textbook shows the Ponzo Illusion, where the line closer to the converging line is perceived as being
much larger than the line farther away from the converging line (Cramer et al., 2017). Al Seckel shows
an image he has created using the Ponzo Illusion, called Pick on Someone Your Own Size (Seckel,
2007). In

Hamlet s Tragic Flaws
A tragic hero is a literary character who makes a judgment error that inevitably leads to his/her own
destruction (bisd303.org). The judgement errors that tragic heroes face are due to their own tragic
flaw. Hamlet, from the Shakespearean play Hamlet , is one of many tragic heroes who must bear their
flaws until they meet their noble death. Before his imminent downfall, Hamlet is approached by the
ghost of his father, Hamlet Sr. This ghost explains to him that he was murdered by the king and that
Hamlet must avenge him. Beginning his quest to kill the king, Hamlet begins to question who he can
trust and if it is better to die than to live. The tragic flaws of paranoia, and selfishness lead to his own
tragic death. The first flaw the reader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hamlet used Ophelia to get to Polonius, as a way to mess with him and make people think that he had
gone insane. He treated her like dirt, a whore that he never loved (Despite at the end of the play, when
he claims he loved Ophelia more than Laertes, her brother, ever could). Essentially, Hamlet abused her
to get to her father, without caring how it would directly affect Ophelia. He didn t care how his actions
affected anyone else but himself. To add to Ophelia s abuse, Hamlet, during an argument with his
mother, stabs Polonius. Afterwards, showing no remorse, he rehearses: Thou wretched, rash, intruding
fool, farewell./I took thee for thy better. Take thy fortune./Thou find st to be too busy is some danger
(III.iv.32 34). He shows no remorse for the murder of Polonius, and even less for how he killed the
father of Ophelia, the girl he claims to love. This selfish act of murder, which was done impulsively
without thought, would end up causing Hamlet s unfortunate end. If he hadn t of murdered Polonius,
then Laertes wouldn t have wanted revenge for the death of his father. If not for the murder, Hamlet
would probably still be alive. The impact of Polonius death was greater on Ophelia than on her
brother. After Hamlet was sent to England, Ophelia was left alone without a father and confused from
the actions of Hamlet. While Hamlet was only acting crazy, acting selfishly

The D Day Prayer Rhetorical Devices
Franklin D. Roosevelt was not remembered for his religious attributes, yet 70 years ago on June 6th
1944, President Roosevelt pursued to calm the souls of his nation as he spoke to the American people.
Nervousness was in the air for family members of the heroic men fighting in WWII. That night, FDR
broadcasted a prayer addressing the tens of thousands of American soldiers and Allied forces fighting
on the beaches of Normandy. Americans hung onto every one of his words. Franklin D. Roosevelt s
speech The D Day Prayer with the heavily solemn tone and his strong use of ethos and pathos, brought
hope and reality to Americans. D Day was fought during World War II in the summer of 1944,
between the American Allied nations and German forces occupying Western Europe. More than

not for the lust of conquest. They fight to end conquest. They fight to liberate. They fight to let justice

return to the haven of home. ( Our Documents 1.) The tone is patriotic, admirable, and appreciative.
Franklin D. Roosevelt s speech The D Day Prayer with the heavily solemn tone and his strong use of
ethos and pathos, brought hope and reality to Americans. As one of the greatest, most influential
presidents of the U.S, FDR owned the uncanny ability to be able to successfully connect with

Individuals That Contributed To The Civil War Essay
Individuals That Contributed To The Civil War The Civil War was brought about by many important
people, some that wanted to preserve and some that wanted to eradicate the primary cause of the war,
slavery. There were the political giants, such as Abraham Lincoln, and
Stephen Douglas. There were seditious abolitionists such as John Brown, escaped slaves such as Dred
Scott, and abolitionist writers like Harriet Beecher Stowe. These were the people who, ultimately,
brought a beginning to the end of what Lincoln called a moral, a social, and a political wrong (Oates
66).
Southern states, including the 11 states that formed the Confederacy, depended on slavery to support
their economy. Southerners used slave labor to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the passage of this act, a new Lincoln emerged into the world of politics. Although he was as
ambitious for political office as ever, he was now, for the first time in his career, devoted to a cause.
He became a forceful spokesman for the antislavery forces.
In 1857, the Supreme Court of the United States added to the mounting tension by its decision in the
Dred Scott
Case. Dred Scott was a slave owned by an army surgeon in
Missouri. In 1836, Scott had been taken by his owner to
Fort Snelling, in what is now Minnesota, then a territory in which slavery was explicitly forbidden
according to the
Missouri Compromise (Oates 50). In 1846, he brought a suit in the state court on the grounds that
residence in a free territory liberated him from slavery. The Supreme Court of
Missouri, however, ruled that since he was brought back into a state where slavery was legal, the
status of slavery was reattached to him and he had no standing before the court. The Scott case was
then brought before the federal court which still held against Scott. The case was finally appealed to
the Supreme Court, where it was argued at length in 1856 and decided in 1857. The decision handed
down by a majority vote of the Court was that there was no power in the existing form of government
to make citizens slave or free, and that at the time of the

Chapter Summary Of Ender
The two unknown people start up this chapter, one talking about how he would isolate Ender at the
school so he wouldn t lose him. Right away, Ender feels separated from the rest of the boys at the
Battle School, since he doesn t feel like speaking to the other boys as they laugh and joke around. He
imagined himself starring in an interview as the spokesman for the rest of the boys. He wanted to say
how much he missed Valentine, not knowing about the censorship. Ener played with the gravity
around him until Graff came around to talk to him. With his smart replies and fast learning, Graff
announced that he was the only boy with brains, sparking anger in the other boys around him. One
boy begins to hit Ender over and over, and at first, Ender ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and how he keeps coming back to the giant s drink . When the boys are all in the battleroom, Ender
decides to mess around with the null gravity, teaching himself how it works and what he can do with
it. Bernard s friend, Alai, joins in as well. They both begin to play with their guns, freezing everyone
else. During private study time, Ender was doing Free Play. He does well all throughout, but as the
two voices in the beginning of the chapter had said, he was back to the Giant s drink. He drank the
wrong drink twice before he kicked over the drinks and digs into the Giant s eye. As the giant fell
back, Ender was welcomed to a place called Fairyland . As Ender lay in bed, he thought to himself

The Healing of a Centurian s Servant
Luke 7:1 10
After he had finished speaking in the hearing of the people, he entered into Capernaum.
A certain centurion s servant, who was dear to him, was sick and at the point of death.
When he heard about Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him to come and save his
servant.
When they came to Jesus, they begged him earnestly, saying,
He is worthy for you to do this for him, for he loves our nation, and he built our synagogue for us.
Jesus went with them. When he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him,
saying to him,
Lord, don t trouble yourself, for I am not worthy for you to come under my roof.

Jesus said to her, You are right when you say you have no husband. The fact is, you have had five
husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true. Sir,
the woman said, I can see that you are a prophet. Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you
Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.
Woman, Jesus replied, believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this
mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do
know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true
worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the
Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth. The woman
said, I know that Messiah (called Christ) is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.
Then Jesus declared, I, the one speaking to you I am he.
The Man with withered hand
One Sabbath day Jesus went into the synagogue, and there he saw a man that had a withered hand. By
some means the muscles had lost their power, and he could neither use his hand nor stretch it out.
And the Pharisees watched Jesus, to see if He would heal this man on the Sabbath, that they might
bring a charge against Him of breaking the law. They asked Him, Is

Marriage Proposals In Pride And Prejudice
Pride and Prejudice is a novel written by Jane Austen in the Regency Period of England. The book
represents to the reader how females, marriage and social class were viewed at the time, as well as
demonstrates Austen s opinion on these matters in a somewhat satirical sense. The two marriage
proposals in the book towards the lead female character, Elizabeth Bennet, are put forth by Mr Collins
and Mr Darcy, both of whom exaggerate the social norms of the time; as women were not expected to
marry for love, but for financial gain, the terms for both proposals are focused more on the gains of
both the man and the woman rather than true feelings towards the affair. The ridiculed etiquette shows
how Austen held the rules of the time in low regard.
Both proposals comprise of snide comments on Elizabeth s social class and financial situation; Collins
remarks that Elizabeth will inherit only one thousand pounds in the four per cents, which will not be
yours till after your ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This, as well as the fact that he inquired after her health is a contrast to the cold, manipulative
character of Mr Collins, who attempts to threaten Elizabeth into marrying him. Likewise, Darcy does
not react well to the rejection to his proposal, as his complexion became pale with anger , and
continues to insult Elizabeth, saying that she is not civil . Therefore, even though the beginning of the
two proposals differed dramatically, the denial of the proposal causes each male to react as if it was
Elizabeth s fault that they were rejected. This ties in to Austen s views of how men at the time were
taught that they could marry any girl if their offer was good enough; this, obviously, is not the case, as
Elizabeth cares more about her feelings than the technicalities of the marriage, and ridicules the
attitudes of men towards

Case 7.1 Handy Andy, Inc. Essay
1. Is this a customer service problem? Why or why not?
a. Why is this a customer service problem?
It is a customer service problem because ultimately it is reflecting poorly upon the company and
providing customers with poor and inadequate customer service. The distributors are lying to
customers to inflate sales. The distributors are not rendering adequate customer service all of which
whether direct or indirect is associated poorly in the customer s reflection and association with Handy
Andy s product (the trash compactors)

distributors are not in house. They are not part of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
3. What should Handy Andy s marketing vice president do? Why?
Handle the situation and do not let it get any more out of control than it currently is. This sounds the
brewing of a perfect storm for customer service and relations. It is ultimately reflecting poorly upon
the company. The V.P. should make the distributors and retailers know that this behavior is
unacceptable and Handy Andy does not endorse this kind of business in relation to its valued
customers.
4. In the case is the statement, The factory distributors in these few cities indicated that they, not
Handy Andy, Inc., stood behind the one year warranty. Is this a problem for Handy Andy? Why or
why not?
This is a problem. It is not the distributors issuing the warranty. It is Handy Andy s warranty given to
the customers as a testament to stand behind their product. This is not a third party warrant that is sold
at say a used car lot. Again, this reflects poorly on Handy Andy and how they value their customers.
5. Bixby, Booher, and Ortega recognize that Handy Andy needs a better way to learn about the buyer s
installation experience. One alternative is to add an open ended question, dealing with the installation
experience, to the warranty activation form. Another alternative is to e mail a brief survey about the
installation experience within three to five days of receiving a warranty activation form. Which of
these alternatives should

Ecapism In Screwball Comedy Film
Screwball comedy is one of the main six types of comedy films. It normally involves aspects of
escapism and has a female lead. Screw ball comedies where also meant as a spoof or parody of
romantic comedies and as such often have plots centered around male and female interaction.
Screwball comedy originated during the great depression, during this time period many people where
hard on their luck and that could have been one of the factors that lead to screwball comedy generally
depicting escapism. In Sullivan s travels we see escapism some during the first half of the movie with
the main character trying to make a movie about the hard times people are going thru instead of a
comedy because he does not think people really want that escape. However,

Analysis Of The Movie Exit The King
Exit the King by Eugene Ionesco directed by Trey Irby in presentation with the Blue Masque was a
complete production that felt well explored and executed. The play itself is a somewhat dark look into
the fall of a king, his kingdom and final hours of his life. This much darker subject matter is balanced
with comic relief provided by the guard, the maid and occasional banter of the king s two wives. A
well flushed out script that examines such a timeless struggle as the delicate balance of life and death
poses immense challenge for those involved. While this challenge occasionally made itself known, the
acting body as a whole did a fine job at overcoming these hurdles. The role of Queen Marguerite,
played by Laurel Edge, was one of the most complex roles to wrestle with and Edge took many of
bold stances that went helped to more fully develop what could have been essentially a bitchy
antagonist into a three dimensional being with solid intention from start to finish. Marguerite s
objective from the moment she steps on stage is clearly to end the life of the king, or rather help him
to the end of his life since no explicit murder takes place. Marguerite stops at nothing to pursuethis
through whether her obstacle is Queen Marie or the King himself. Edge was well open and able to
play off the many others in the scene at a time though this was not always obvious. She also had the
clearest expectations. Her choices in actions often times had her sitting away separately avoiding

How Do Genetically Engineered Foods Protect The Environment
People opposed to genetically engineered crops believe genetically engineering a crop to have a
higher nutritional value will cause problems with a person s diet. They believe people will then
disregard other foods besides the new genetically engineered food, and this will cause other health
issues. This does not seem likely because genetically engineered crops with enhanced nutritional value
are aimed to help people reach a certain daily value of a vitamin or mineral, not to replace a person s
whole diet. A person will still have to eat other foods with the new genetically engineered food,
however, he or she will not have to eat as much to obtain the correct daily values of their vitamins and
minerals. Countries such as Africa, who have a problem with people dying of starvation each year,
could really use these kinds of crops. Crops that are genetically engineered to withstand drastic
weather conditions and are higher in nutritional value could help Africa have a higher yield of crops to
feed the starving children with. The increased nutritional value in these crops would also help the
starving children get more of the vitamins and minerals they need to survive.
Some people worry genetic engineering can harm the environment, however, genetically engineered
crops can help protect the environment. The environment is important for the survival of humans, and
protecting it has been a focus for many scientists. Genetically engineered crops can protect the
environment by making

  • 2. The Spanish Leaders And Indian Warriors Mexico and Spain are two countries that started interacting with each other since the early 1500s. In 1518, Hernán Cortés (a Spanish conqueror) led an expedition to Mexico establishing the city of Veracruz on his arrival. In 1521, Cortes and some of his men marched into the capital city of the Aztec, Tenochtitlan. Even though the Aztecs and their emperor Moctezuma tried to persuade the Spanish to leave, Cortés and his man did not accept. Instead, he allied with some other indigenous people who were enemies of the Aztecs such as the Tlaxcalans in order to defeat them and take Tenochtitlan (1). Following the Spanish Conquest, the Aztecs and Tlaxcalans had aligned themselves with the Spaniards. Thus, most explorations were undertaken jointly with the Spanish leaders and Indian warriors (2). A clear example of this is the expedition to Zacatecas (Northern Mexico), which was referred as La Gran Chichimeca . The group of Spanish and Indian explorers ignored the fact that the indigenous tribes who lived there, considered La Gran Chichimeca as inheritance from their ancestors. Therefore, when the Spanish invaded their land in 1550, Zacatecos and Guachichile Indians began attacking travelers and merchants, including the Spaniards. Thus, starting the Chichimeca War. It was until the end of the sixteenth century that Alonso Manrique de Zuñiga, appointed as the Viceroy of Mexico, offered peace and opened up negotiations. The Viceroy offered food, clothing, lands, and agricultural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Pros And Negatives Of Masonry I will be summarizing the Article Masonry Walls: Materials and Construction by Emeritus Henry. The article will be covering the positives of modern masonry, its uses, and much more. The author will also touch on the use of mortar in masonry and how it is used. Masonry has been replaced by concrete and steel for a number of uses in construction in the last century or so, but there are still many uses today that keeps masonry relevant. Although masonry in itself calls for highly skilled workers, the productivity has been able to keep up with its competitors by becoming better at moving all the materials needed, as well even premaking the mortar off site so that it is ready to use once on site. One reason that masonry has become less popular in the recent years is that it yields a very low tensile strength compared to reinforced concrete. But in fact, reinforcements can also be added to masonry to increase its tensile strength. There are a number of positives to using masonry. One of which being that one material can have a number of functions; for example not only can a structure be built from masonry, but the brick will act as a fire retardant, protectant from the elements, and also an insulator. Another advantage to using masonry would be its durability. Masonry requires little to no maintenance, and can last well over a hundred years if properly layed. Architects love using masonry for their builds. Due to its wide array of colors and its flexibility the choices are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Evil Atop the Mountain of Power in The Crucible by Arthur... There is an understood social order and staying in one s place retains balance and order in a community or even a country. The leaders at the top are recognized to be equipped with great minds, worthy of the peoples trust, and strong enough to make the unpopular decisions. These substantial men in all their glory sit atop a mountain out of reach to the common man. Never would we encounter them misusing their power for personal gain or to act under the confines of tradition that no longer serve society justly. In the crucible the Puritans of Salem trust their divinely appointed ministers to sweep away the evil among them. The devout and loyal colonists wouldn t expect the guardian ministers to become the very evil they were set upon crushing. In the case that the conductor stumbles off their intended path this error may be caught when it is too late. The train is gaining speed consuming more and more fuel and amassing raw power. One cannot stop the train to question its new and controversial path. In Good Night and Good Luck nuclear warfare could become reality at any moment. America s worst fear and most hated enemy is the communist. Junior senator McCarthy takes this opportunity to be the gallant defender of The Union. Common sense says anyone engaging in criticizing him must be a communist and an enemy of the state. Contrary to this type of defense logic is the possibility the procommunist critic is actually the voice of reason and truth that America desperately needs to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Anabolic Steroid Use in Sports Summary Anabolic Steroid use in Sports The competitive drive to win at all cost is fierce among athletes. Winning at all cost often includes using one of many performance enhancing drugs such as anabolic steroids. Many athletes use performance enhancing drugs, like steroids, to achieve higher goals and set higher records than other drug free successful athletes. Although athletes are performing at higher levels when using such drugs, what is the cost? Finally anabolic steroids should remain banned from sports because their use results in many harmful side effects; because their use violates sports regulations, and because their use can cause death. Anabolic steroids should remain banned from sports because of the many harmful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another reason is the potential side effect caused by the use of anabolic steroids. Since the use of steroids has become a trend among athletes, the number of deaths among them has risen. A lot of these deaths are due to suicides and violent behavior as a result of the effect of these anabolic androgenic steroids on mood. A number of recent, well publicized deaths of American football players have drawn attention to the potential dangers of sports supplements and the raised important public health concerns about the unrestricted availability of these products that are exempt from U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulation (Haller, 2002). Performance enhancing drugs are not only dangerous and damaging; they are potentially deadly. Between 1985 and 1995, at least 121 US athletes collapsed and died during or directly after a training session or game; most often because they had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or heart malformations (Maron, 1996). Most of the athletes that have collapsed and died during or directly after training session or game tested positive for some type of performance enhancing drug. From case reports, the incidence of life threatening effects appears to be low, but serious adverse effects may be under recognized or under reported. Data from animal studies seem to support this possibility. One study found that exposing male ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Whether between parties, officials or organizations, these allied relationships are one of the significant factors that result in the major decision made in the U.S.. After differing parties team up and become allies, over time, the group will have a tendency towards change. This election year of 2016 has been a noticeable period where new coalitions have been formed and others have broken down. For their own sake, parties must strive to take lengths necessary to maintain or attain power in the government and therefore tip the scales in their favor and achieve their goals. If Trump rises to the presidency, the parties could split into Trump supporters and opposers and cause a continued division within the Republican party. I left for work but had to walk, as no streetcars were running. I was employed as an apprentice machinist at the Vulcan Iron Works located at Kearny and Francisco Street at the foot of Telegraph Hill. At the iron works I found some of the employees had reported, those able to reach the plant on foot, and all were busy talking about their experiences. The superintendent realized that we were uneasy and soon sent us home. I returned to our house and found my parents and the eldest of my sisters there. Most of the neighbors were also at home. We gathered in groups on the sidewalk, watching the ever spreading smoke and speculating on our future. While we sat to have a cup of coffee, the house started shaking really badly and the walls started breaking. My dad quickly told all of us to get out. And when we got out, all the other buildings started to collapse and people were screaming and running about everywhere. My little sister was crying so much and got so scared when she saw the buildings collapse in front of her. She dropped her teddy bear inside our house and wanted to get it. Analysis Of The Poem The Rocking Horse Winner The obsessiveness of material things that will set the household s standard beyond of those common people resulted in a tragedy that will forever be regretted. D.H. Lawrence wrote his idea of a modern family in the 1900 s, The Rocking Horse Winner, in which the story is mostly between about the son trying to win the love of his mother whose only objective was to be the first in everything by having more money. The characters, the theme, and the author s style will give us the idea of what D.H. Lawrence is trying to portrait in the story. The next paragraph will first show us how the author set up the characterization of significant characters. In the beginning of the story, the first character to be narrated was Paul s mother, Hester, who was indirectly characterized as an unlovable wife and mother. Hester was also characterized as a materialistic person for she always wanted to have more money so they could keep living in style. Hester s husband, whose name didn t mention, was also indirectly characterized as a materialistic person. Hester believed that his husband is unlucky because he wasn t rich and the she herself was unlucky too. Paul, Hester s son, is characterized as a child yearning to win his mother s love and believed to be lucky. Because of this, he was urged to gamble with his uncle and Bassett to make more money that he could give to his mother to win her love. Lee, Professor of Economics. In his argument claims, that the Economic of Arctic National Wildlife Refuge oil is so great that even environmentalist should agree to drilling, and they would probably stand to benefit. There would be many benefits as compared to the cost. He does not deny the fact that there would be risks associated with the drilling. In spite of this, he feels that they do not begin to compare the benefits. Lee explains that the main reason that this has become such an intense issue is because of high prices of oil and gasoline. Lee goes on to explain that technology has having fewer risks involved with the drilling. This is why it is an important issue. Drilling would help reduce the U.S. dependence on foreign sources. Richard Pombo, a Republican from California argued that there is no logical reason to oppose ANWR drilling (Easton, 2009). A major claim from the supporters view is that there would decrease United States dependence on foreign oil. Although, it seems logical for the United States to drill on its own land to decrease dependence on imported oil, but that would not be the case in ANWR. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, there are 4 10 billion barrels of oil that can be recovered from the refuge s coastal plain that is enough for another 4 10 months (Cunningham, 2009, p. 287). In 1857, the Supreme Court of the United States added to the mounting tension by its decision in the Dred Scott Case. Dred Scott was a slave owned by an army surgeon in Missouri. In 1836, Scott had been taken by his owner to Fort Snelling, in what is now Minnesota, then a territory in which slavery was explicitly forbidden according to the Missouri Compromise (Oates 50). In 1846, he brought a suit in the state court on the grounds that residence in a free territory liberated him from slavery. The Supreme Court of Missouri, however, ruled that since he was brought back into a state where slavery was legal, the status of slavery was reattached to him and he had no standing before the court. The Scott case was then brought before the federal court which still held against Scott. The case was finally appealed to the Supreme Court, where it was argued at length in 1856 and decided in 1857. • 31. Marriage Proposals In Pride And Prejudice Pride and Prejudice is a novel written by Jane Austen in the Regency Period of England. The book represents to the reader how females, marriage and social class were viewed at the time, as well as demonstrates Austen s opinion on these matters in a somewhat satirical sense. The two marriage proposals in the book towards the lead female character, Elizabeth Bennet, are put forth by Mr Collins and Mr Darcy, both of whom exaggerate the social norms of the time; as women were not expected to marry for love, but for financial gain, the terms for both proposals are focused more on the gains of both the man and the woman rather than true feelings towards the affair. The play itself is a somewhat dark look into the fall of a king, his kingdom and final hours of his life. This much darker subject matter is balanced with comic relief provided by the guard, the maid and occasional banter of the king s two wives. A well flushed out script that examines such a timeless struggle as the delicate balance of life and death poses immense challenge for those involved. While this challenge occasionally made itself known, the acting body as a whole did a fine job at overcoming these hurdles. The role of Queen Marguerite, played by Laurel Edge, was one of the most complex roles to wrestle with and Edge took many of bold stances that went helped to more fully develop what could have been essentially a bitchy antagonist into a three dimensional being with solid intention from start to finish. Marguerite s objective from the moment she steps on stage is clearly to end the life of the king, or rather help him to the end of his life since no explicit murder takes place. Marguerite stops at nothing to pursuethis through whether her obstacle is Queen Marie or the King himself. How Do Genetically Engineered Foods Protect The Environment People opposed to genetically engineered crops believe genetically engineering a crop to have a higher nutritional value will cause problems with a person s diet. They believe people will then disregard other foods besides the new genetically engineered food, and this will cause other health issues. This does not seem likely because genetically engineered crops with enhanced nutritional value are aimed to help people reach a certain daily value of a vitamin or mineral, not to replace a person s whole diet. A person will still have to eat other foods with the new genetically engineered food, however, he or she will not have to eat as much to obtain the correct daily values of their vitamins and minerals. Countries such as Africa, who have a problem with people dying of starvation each year, could really use these kinds of crops. Crops that are genetically engineered to withstand drastic weather conditions and are higher in nutritional value could help Africa have a higher yield of crops to feed the starving children with. The increased nutritional value in these crops would also help the starving children get more of the vitamins and minerals they need to survive.
