2. Write An Essay On Being A Minority
What does the word minority mean to me and tell a situation in which the actions of myself or of
others toward minority? It s a scholarship that gives one thousand per semester for one year
There are many inequalities in our society based on race and ethnicity. Minority consists of group
that makes up then less than half the total population, and are treated differently based on their race
and ethnicity. Minorities are people of color, low income, and women. To be a minority means
that you are lefts with the jobs that no else wants, you have limited access to medical care, and
are caught up with stress which leads to bad addictions and poor eating habits. We have the belief
that we all have an equal opportunity in life including equal access to quality education. In schools
where there is a larger group of minorities usually get less funding for their school which does not
help children reach their full potential. Another issue that minorities encounter is that they are
usually placed in the lower paying jobs. The cost of education can be too much for a minority
which usually leads them to have lower paying jobs which stops them from pursuing a better future.
I have also seen that minority students are being underestimated because many believe they are not
intelligent enough. Over the past couple years, I ve seen that ... Show more content on

we got less funding than other schools. The tables that we sat on were tables that other schools

have many options of books to pick from. Growing up I never noticed that my school received a

3. Lovable Jerk Film Analysis
It is these three, however, who absolutely make the film what it is. Such unparalleled acting and
interactions between Lucas, Rachael and Travis. No, it s not the three stooges, for these three tell a
much more compelling story and give stunningly impressive performances that far supersede the
antics of those superb comedians from another era. While the story does involve a lovetriangle,
Hallmark s writers seem to avoid the pitfalls we sometimes witness when viewing films that revolve
around that particular issue. In fact, jealousy doesn t even seem to be the dilemma between the two
young men. At least, not jealousy over the young lady s affections.
As the lovable jerk, Travis portrays the smooth talking, forward thinking Will who is often
looking for a means to an end. Unfortunately, he is not overly principled in his business dealings
nor his relationships. He sees the attractive, vivacious Maya, and he decides to woo her right from
the outset. He is not as interested in her brains per se. Thankfully, he is open to discovering a new
world with Maya at times, but when he sees his chance to get ahead, no matter the ... Show more

True, other actresses could have played the role but not with the joi de vivre and sheer
professionalism that Rachael brings. Recently, I interviewed Rachael as well, and I am completely

At the core of this film, is the message of integrity and not permitting anything to squelch your
dreams. And remembering what is important in this world. I can hardly wait to watch this film this
evening (August 20) on the Hallmark network because even though I ve already seen it, the second
viewing is bound to be better. I hope everyone will tune in I realize there are other things competing

4. Sputnik s Effect On The Space Race
The effect of Sputnik I on the Space Race
Sputnik 1 orbited the Earth every 98 minutes, flying over the United States seven times a
day.(Danielle Burton) During the Cold war the launch of Sputnik I by the Soviet Union in October
1957 created a fear in the United States. The United states feared that nuclear warheads could soon
come. In response the United States created and funded the National Defense Education
Act(NDEA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA). The United States
and the Soviet Union were at the start of an arms race and a space race. The funds for NASA were
excellent, because the United states had a lot of fear after seeing what the Soviet Union was doing.
During the space race it was the United States and the USSR fighting against each other in a lot
of battles that both sides took the other side of. There was the arms race and the space race both
were huge because one of them was the race to space and the other was all the battles in the
ground. During world war 1 the United States and the USSR were on the same side of each other
fighting together against hitler. But because both of these countries have a different view of
government they never really got along. As soon as world war 1 ended both countries wanted to
spread their government and neither side wanted the other one be too strong. Once the atomic bomb

5. The Theory Of Behavioral Finance
1. Introduction
Efficient market hypothesis had been a topic of significant interest to the academicians,
practitioners and the corporate executives for a long period. Under Eugene Fama s(1965) survey, it
is reflected that there is a turning point of the modern finance by efficient market hypothesis.
However, there had been a shift in the focus to the theory of behavioral finance (Shiller, 2003)
recently. Behavioral finance is the financial structure which supplements various parts of finance
(Gallagher, 2003). It is the module which supports and displays the behavior of the investment
managers and assists in the overall process of management. Therefore, behavioral finance is a
unique art which is required to be selected in order to understand the outcomes of interactions
between the investment managers and the corporates. Given this background, this essay examines
how the behavioral finance has challenged the efficient market hypothesis and the implications of
behavioral finance for investment managers.
2. Definition and concept of efficient market hypothesis
According to Eugene Fama s (1970), with the rise in the information, there is rapid spreading of the
information which is immediately incorporated in the security prices. This is called the efficient
market hypothesis and it is associated with random walk theory. The random walk theory which
suggests the randomness of changes in a series of price forms the basis of efficient market
hypothesis. Thus, the

6. Fluoride Effects
Fluoride is the ionic form of the element fluorine, different in chemical and physical properties. It is
most usually used in compounds for industry, however, it can be added to water sources. Few areas
in the UK have fluoridated tap water, providing them with key nutrients needed by the body and an
efficient method of preventing tooth decay. On the other hand, there has been speculation linking
fluorideto certain disorders and diseases which has caused concern within the country.
Although Fluoridated water carries many health benefits there have been numerous theories linked
to negative conditions. This causes people to fear what is being put into their water, raising
concerns such as how will this affect our children and other safety ... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
When fluoridation plans came about in 1964 it was estimated that only 10% of children would
be affected by fluorosis, however cases have since exceeded such estimations. There are three
forms of fluorosis; mild, moderate and severe. Although nearly all cases are considered amongst
the mild category there is still evidence of negative effects, enough to make people sceptical.
Along with fluoride being harmful to teeth it was found to damage soft tissues and bones.
Recently there have been 24 studies performed which found links to reduced IQ in children
exposed to amounts of fluoride. However, these tests were not tested with fluoridated water.
When added to water it is in compound form, for example as sodium fluoride, therefore reducing
its toxicity. It is also well known that susceptibility to the fluoride toxins varies greatly between
individuals. Fluorosis is the most common disorder which fluoride creates. It is almost always
having a cosmetic effect leaving white streaks on teeth as well as altering the appearance of
growing teeth in children. The fact that it leaves permanent damage to the tooth s enamel means
that parents are highly reluctant to having such a harmful chemical in their water. This is not only
a common theme in the UK, only 11 countries in the world have more than 50% of their population
drinking fluoridated water. With only about 6 million people supplied with fluoridated water, it
means only 10% of the UK has agreed to the legislations. This shows that very few people agree
with its benefits. Anti fluoride campaigns are most prominent in Manchester and London, two major

7. Nigel Lythgoe Research Paper
Once there was a boy named Nigel Lythgoe. He was born on July 9,1949 in England, which is
part of the United Kingdom. Early in his life Nigel Lythgoe became interested in dance and he
began at the Perry Cowell school of dance and began classical ballet, modern jazz and ballroom
dancing When he asked his parents if he could take dance class they said that he could do it but
only if he took boxing lessons too. Nigel Lythgoe s first professional job was ballet dancing in
the Corps de Ballet. In the beginning of Nigel Lythgoe s career he was interested in filming

8. Leonard Pitts Jr
Take the Time to Read a Book
Leonard Pitts, Jr. says, I am not alone. He continues, There are at least two of us who have
forgotten how to read. He doesn t mean that people have forgotten how to read; rather people have
forgotten how to become one with the text. There is more than one person who feels that
concentration becomes blurred when the text in front of one requires full attention. Short ads and
topics one finds interesting are usually easier to read than intellectual books that are imposed on
one. It s a little funny, isn t it?
I liked this article because I identify myself with it. I often begin reading a paragraph and my brain
begins to move away from what my eyes are reading. The problem is that I don t realize it until I
get to the end of the page. Like Pitts, I have found myself drifting away or unable to sit down to
read material that my job requires me to study and discuss.
I agree with Nicholas Carr s theory, Is Google Making Us Stupid? Carr argues that search engines,
blogs, hyperlinks, etc. dump more information that one can possibly read. I agree with that, and I

However, I want to achieve the same results Pitts did when he read a paper book titled What
happened, by Scott McClellan. Pitts says, It wasn t until somewhere around the third hour that I
began to unclench. He is referring to the time when he put himself on a chair that would keep him
from distractions. He achieved, once again, submerging in the text. I shall find an uncomfortable

9. Epistemological and Management Research Problem
In what ways does the choice of an epistemological perspective or stance influence the formulation
of a management research problem?
Epistemology is all about knowledge. It is defined by Bonjour (2002) as the philosophical study
of knowledge; its nature, its requirements and its limitations . Knowledge is about what you
know. How you know what you know is dependent on your perceptions, your views, your
reasoning and the reality of it. The first time I came across the question what is knowledge? it
virtually looks like a simple question that I could easily provide an answer to but in the real sense
of it, I realized I was dealing with a complex question which requires a difficult answer. Knowledge
is vast but the reality of it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All these fall under different categories of; Intuitive knowledge, Authoritarian knowledge,
Logical knowledge and Empirical knowledge as identified by epistemologists (Tee, 2004). The
source of knowledge is very important because if there is any form of skepticism about the
validity of the product of knowledge, one may take to the origin or source of the knowledge.
This does not mean that certain sources of knowledge are unreliable. In fact, a single study or
research work can employ the use of all the sources of knowledge but this depends on the
researcher. Therefore, for a management research problem to be formulated, the chosen
epistemological perspective has a great part to play because the identification of the problem and
the definition of the problem have to be linked to the knowledge expected to yield them. As
illustrated by Easterby Smith, Thorpe Jackson (2012), of all the various features of a project or a
research work, epistemology is one of those that are progressively less visible but provides
alongside with ontology and methodology the decisions and assumptions that the method and
techniques of the projects depend on.
Epistemology presents two approaches to a research problem. The first is the positivism approach
which as explained by Easterby Smith, Thorpe Jackson (2012) carries the assumption that there is a
reality which exists independently of the

when mixed with Hydrogen peroxide, explodes as a boiling hot gas. The H2O2 is stored in little
sacks. The mixture runs into a chamber at the back of the abdomen so it explodes outward.
Now, without God, how could this evolve? Which part came first? Was it the Hydrogen peroxide.
Not likely. That s toxic. You would at least have to have H2O2 AND the sacs that contain it. So
right there we have two mutations that have to happen at the same time.
But wait...without Sphincter muscles to seal the bags, the peroxide would just leak out all the time.
This creature would not be selected by natural selection. So it must have the peroxide, the sac, and
the sphincter muscle. That is a miracle of evolution! But now all we have is a bug carrying around
peroxide. He is not more fit to survive than any other. In fact, he s worse off...heavier and toting a
toxic chemical for no reason. We must also have glands to produce Hydroquinone. Our fourth
necessary mutation. But it can t just secrete Hyrdoquinone it right into the sac with the peroxide! ...

A mutation is a tiny change to the DNA code. But changing DNA doesn t make new proteins all

new protein, the chance of that protein making a radically different (but useful!) macro
molecule is really low. But even if that happened, would the CELL containing that
macromolecule really be that different than it was before? Only rarely. But will that cell make a

12. The And Design Practices By Martin Heidegger
When is Architecture Architecture?
Only if we are capable of dwelling, only then can we build. This claim was made by German
philosopher Martin Heidegger in his lecture Building Dwelling Thinking . In the lecture Heidegger
goes beyond architectural and design practices by referring building not only in architectural
construction, but to the whole range of human productive activity. When thinking about dwelling it
is usually connected to buildings. The goal of a building is to allow one to dwell, but not all
buildings are in the domain of dwelling. Christian Nordberg Schulz describes place as that
which in we dwell, within which we are at home. The truck driver is at home on the highway,
but he does not have his accommodations there; the working woman is at home in her office, but
does not have her dwelling place there. Dwelling is not only limited to the dwelling place. Schulz
stated that dwelling as being in a harmonious relationship with one s surrounding environment. He
believes that dwelling is based in the idea that our dwelling in place grants us an identity and a
meaning that we would otherwise lack. Thus, in order to dwell in a place one must personally
connect with that place which leads us to exclude others from that place as a means to affirm that
identity. Many critics claim that if place is an essentially relative concept based on a personal sense
of belonging then dwelling must be too.
In terms of these theories on dwelling; architecture and

of their manufacturing is that numerous pharmaceutical industries are simultaneously releasing

Introduction Few leaders stand out in the history of the twentieth century more than Sir Winston
Churchill. Remembered mainly as Great Britain s prime minister who led the first successful

liberty by leading the battle against fascism and dictatorship. Churchill appeared headed for
greatness even at his birth in 1874; his grandfather was the first Duke of Marlborough and his

Soon, he was assigned to social policies, where he earned his reputation as a social reformer,

resignation in 1916, he fought in the trenches in the World War. In modern history, few men of
Churchill s importance have risked their lives on the battlefield. But his values were truly tested
when
England stood actionless while Adolf Hitler slowly threatened the freedom of Europe.
Great Britain, worried about economic recovery from the depression, chose to appease
Hitler rather than arm the military in case of a German strike. Churchill, ever the opponent of
tyranny, warned repeatedly of Hitler s rise in power. Germany finally fulfilled Churchill s prophecy
by invading Poland on September 1, 1939. When Churchill replaced Neville Chamberlain as Prime
Minister in 1940 he was immediately faced with two choices; continue the war, therefore pushing
Britain further into debt, as well as inflicting thousands of English casualties, or attempt to negotiate
with Hitler. Negotiation may have saved thousands of British soldiers, but millions would have paid
the price in Hitler s pursuit of a purified Europe. Ultimately, Churchill not only backed the continued
war effort, but through many rousing public addresses, gained needed support. Towards the end of
his life Churchill once again

Psychology and the Legal System
Paper 1With recent legislative issues making the news, one topic that has received a great deal of
attention is that of indeterminate sentencing. This is the imposition of a sentence with no
mandatory release date or set period of sentence to be served. Instead, one s sentence length is
determined by the inmate s conduct while in prison. Upon successful completion of requirements
the inmate may be returned to society, but it is possible that they will be kept behind bars for the
remainder of his/her natural life. There are many issues that have come to light with indeterminate
and determinate sentencing, such as how successful was the inmate? Is there really rehabilitation

The problem with indeterminate sentencing is that it often puts too much power into the hands of
the parole board which then can lead to arbitrary and discriminatory results. It has been seen that
minorities and prisoners without connections receive overly harsh decisions of the parole boards
while less deserving offenders are being released early.(Portman, 2017) Even with some of the
issues at hand indeterminate sentencing is making a comeback. This is now happening even more
as our prisons are becoming overcrowded. In turn, allowing more room for judicial or parole board
discretion. Prosecutors are exercising discretion when they decide which of many arrests to charge
and for what particular crime. Juries exercise discretion in not convicting defendants who killed
under circumstances that may have justified their actions. A jury may opt to exercise discretion
when it deliberates the fate of the alleged perpetrator. Parole boards also have the opportunity to
excise discretion when they decide whether to commute a death sentence to life
imprisonment.(Greene, E., Heilbrun, K. 2014 pg. 10 11) This is being seen in many states where
rehabilitation is available and viewed as a reasonable attainable outcome for offenders.Determinate
sentencing began to spread widely during the 1970s and 1980s and is now the rule in many states.

16.2 Describe the main phases involved database design.
Database design is made up of three main phases: logical and physical database design.
Conceptual database design: the process of constructing a model of the data used in an enterprise,
independent of all physical consideration. It begin with creating conceptual data model for the
enterprise that is entirely independent of implementation details.
Logical database design is the process of constructing a model of the data used in a company
based on a specific data model, but independent of a particular DBMS and other physical
considerations.
In the logical database design phase we build the logical representation of the database, which
includes identification of the important entities and relationships, and then translate this
representation to a set of tables. The logical data model is a source of information for the physical
design phase, providing the physical database designer with a vehicle for making tradeoffs that are
very important to the design of an efficient database.
Physical database design is the process of producing a description of the implementation of the
database on secondary storage; it describes the base tables, file organizations, and indexes used to
achieve efficient access to the data, and any

This general method has led to understanding of dynamic performance of PWM converters.
However, the state space method is sometimes tedious, especially when the converter circuit
contains a large number of elements [6]. To overcome some of the problems mentioned above, a
signal flow graph (SFG) nonlinear graphical modeling method was developed for PWM
converters [7]. The advantages of this method over other methods are: (i) it converts the switching
converter into a unified dynamic model, (ii) from unified model, it is possible to derive large,
small signal and steady state models,
(iii) it is easier to arrive at small signal models with minimum mathematical manipulations, (iv) it is
possible to derive various relationships among the circuit variables without any difficulty, (v) it is
possible to incorporate the cause and effect relationship of the dynamics etc. This SFG method

was also extended to study the dynamics of one cycle controlled switching converters [8], large

develop the small signal SFG from the simplified SFG, and present a small signal feedback
analysis of a closed loop voltage mode controlled interleaved dual boost (IDB) converter.

EVALUATION OF THE PAPER
Purposes
The original paper by Edelen and Reeve (2007) addresses the question that, in health outcomes
researches, response burden seems to be a problem for some researchers, and thus an effective
way to refine health outcomes instruments is necessary. The purposes of the paper are two fold.
First, the paper provides a brief overview of the IRT principles and the critical issued associated
with IRT applications (pp. 5 8). Second, the paper extensively demonstrates the utility of IRT and
related analyses in refining questionnaire and selecting a shortened scale to reduce response burden
when measuring adolescence depression.
Methods Edelen and Reeve used handful psychometric techniques to assess the data and reduce the
form from 19 item to 10 item. They used CTT to reveal the basic statistics for the 19 items. Then,
they calculated the Cronbach s alphas and the Fisher s z transformed average interitem
correlations to elect a 3 category version of the scale to be analyzed. Moreover, they assessed the
dimensionality and local independence using EFA and CFA. For the major IRT analysis, the
authors utilized the GRM to estimate slope and step parameters, construct ICCs and IIFs, and
evaluate fit at the item level. In the end, they were able to select the short 10 item form.
The data Edelen and Reeve used came directly from AddHealth public use dataset and was
representative of US schools in a wide variety of aspects, like region of country, degree of

32. Neuromarketing
Within the skull lies the most complex organ known to mankind the human brain. With a mass of
only 6 kilograms, the brain contains over 100 billion living cells and 1 million kilometers of
interconnecting fibers; but, exactly how does it function? Marketing and sales managers would
love to know why consumers are attracted to certain advertising, packaging and brands. Martin
Lindstrom, author of Buyology: Truth and Lies About Why We Buy, explains the marketing
challenge, When we walk down an aisle in a grocery store, our purchasing decisions are made in
less than four seconds...there is no way we can think about that in a complete way. Those decisions
take place in the subconscious part of the brain(2008).

It likes beginnings and endings and tends to drop the information in the middle. Therefore,
placing the most important context in the beginning and restating it at the end is a must to grab
the consumer s old brain s attention. The fifth stimulus is visual. The old brain is very visual; this
may be because the optic nerve is directly connected to it. About 70% of the body s sense
receptors are in our eyes. To a large degree, we understand our world mainly by looking at it...we
have evolved to put our visual senses at the top of our sensory hierarchies, and therefore, visual
components tend to trump all others (Pradeep, 2010). The old brain reacts to an object before your
new brain physically recognizes the object. The last stimulus is emotion. When consumers
experience strong emotions like happiness, sadness, anger or joy, a flood of emotions rushes into
their brain and impact the synaptic connections between the neurons making them faster and
stronger. As a result, consumers will remember events better when they have experienced them with
strong emotions.
Analyzing Neuroimaging Techniques In order to measure the brain effectively, neuromarketers use
the latest technology that assess the brain s activity most accurately. Although there are apparently
many techniques that scientists propose, only a few have stood the test of time and are being used
most widely. The three techniques are Electroencephalogram (EEG), Functional

Abstract
Alzheimer s disease (AD) is one of the most widespread forms of dementia in the aging population.
Unfortunately, most cases of AD are sporadic in nature and the underlying etiology is unknown.
Thus far, the majority of the experiments have been based on transgenic mice models where
amyloid aggregations are the causal initiator of AD. However, recent evidence has suggested that
chronic inflammation may precede the induction of late onset AD neuropathology. To demonstrate
the role of neuroinflamamtion in late onset development of AD, we injected a viral mimic
polyinosinic:polycytidylic acid (polyI:C) to C57BL/6J pregnant mice during gestational day 17
(GD17). A subset of the pups were exposed to a second injection at 12 months of age to observe
whether a second immune challenge would increase the rate of AD development. The aged mice
were subjected to a cued fear conditioning task to measure their cognitive capacity, and
immunoblotting and immunohistochemistry to detect any neuropathological changes. PolyI:C
injected mice failed to show any significant cognitive impairments following their

36. Common Misconception Of The Brain s Five Stages Of Sleep
It is a common misconception that when we fall asleep, our brains go to sleep as well. This is
most definitely not the case. Our brain is hard at work while we sleep; making memories,
cleansing toxins, and many other activities. When falling asleep, our brains go through multiple
stages, from triggering a loss in consciousness to highly erratic activity. Sleeping has five stages
to it, the first being the state between wakefulness and sleep. This stage is often referred to as
drowsy sleep due to the muscles in the body still being fairly active and the eyes roll around a bit.
In this stage the brainwaves transition from erratic beta and gamma waves, which is the normal
range of brain wavelengths when the body is awake, to less erratic alpha... Show more content on

The brain activity during REM sleep is mainly mixed brain waves consisting of theta, alpha and
beta waves. This is also the point in a sleep cycle where the body is basically rigid. The brain has
shut off all muscle movements other than the ones that keep you alive. This stage is a prime
example of how the brain is busy while we are sleeping, REM sleep begins with signals from an
area at the base of the brain called the pons. These signals travel to a brain region called the
thalamus, which relays them to the cerebral cortex the outer layer of the brain that is
responsible for learning, thinking, and organizing information. The pons also sends signals that
shut off neurons in the spinal cord, causing temporary paralysis of the limb muscles (Brain
Basics). Being that REM sleep deals with learning, scientists believe this is the reason infants
sleep a large amount of time and also why they are more susceptible to being woken up by the
slightest noises. Since this stage of sleeping has a great deal of dreaming and brain involvement
some scientists believe that dreaming is the brain s way of sorting out information it receives
during sleep, creating a story out of what it gathers. REM sleep could be considered as a work out
for your brain, helping us to make sense of what we experience throughout our

Congress in 1913 to provide the nation with a safer, more flexible and more stable monetary and

Federal Reserve s Duties fall into four general areas:
$Conducting the nation s monetary policy by influencing the money and credit conditions in the
economy in pursuit of full employment and stable prices.
$Supervising and regulating banking institutions to ensure the safety and soundness of the nation s
banking and financial system to protect the credit rights of consumers.

Lady with an Ermine is a painting by Italian Leonardo da Vinci from around 1489 1490. During
this time on rebirth for the arts some artist decided to take a more natural and abstract view on art
while others (like da Vinci) still typically followed the realism route. With that being said his Lady
with the Ermine is a very interesting portrait painting. This beautiful woman is dressed in fine red

complexion. Her face is deep and three dimensional, his use of shading and shadow makes her

again that its called Lady with an Ermine. This artwork is a closed composition because since its a
portrait, it shows everything that needs to be shown in a portrait.
For this artwork there is no middle ground included. The reason is that I don t think he wanted
anything to appear far in the distance, because I think he just wants it to be a simple portrait
without anything appearing in the background to make it more complex. And its a portrait so it
maybe most likely for no middle ground. This is often where the main action takes place, and in

This task involves trying to give an educated guess on a linear regression model for pricing real

valuing a real estate property: income and sales comparison. The sales assessment approach
values a real estate property based on sale prices of similar properties. In this case the properties
with familiar individuality are basically on the same price level, it would be typical to use a linear
regression model to complete this demonstration. Our team will examine the significance of
numerous independent variables to a real estate value. Two important strategies to regression testing

The correlation is 41% between Bdrm and Size. We have concluded that there is no problem of
multicollinearity in the data. We also found that Price and Size have relatively large scales
compared with other variables. So it is natural to consider the logarithmic form of these two
variables. We will run a new regression in which the regressor is log (price) and the regressand
Size is replaced by its logarithm log (size). The R squared of this new model is around 60%,
even a little lower than the original model. The statistical significance of other independent
variables keeps almost unaffected. The analysis of coefficients in this model with logarithms is
not intuitive. So we still stick to the reduced linear model estimated in (a). We analyzed the OLS
residuals to check for possible heteroskedasticity for a cross sectional data set. We computed the
fitted values of Price and OLS residuals in our model. Then residuals are sorted by fitted values
of Price, and a scatter diagram of residuals is plotted against the fitted values in Figure 2. It is
observed that all points are fairly scattered and there is no obvious pattern for the dependence of
the residuals on the fitted values. We conclude that a linear model with homoskedastic errors is
satisfactory for this data set. We evaluated the validity of this linear regression model by checking
the accuracy of its prediction. The linear model is estimated by using 100 out of 105

integration of the progressive stories that lead to the culmination of his research. By visually

43. The Civil War And The 19th Century Essay
The 19th century was one of the most troubling times in human history. Things like the civil war,
child labor and even slavery helped shape the literary culture from 1850 1900. The civil war was a
war fought between the Northern and Southern States in the United States of America. Among the
34 states in January 1861, seven Southern slave states individually declared their secession from the
United Statesof America and formed the Confederate States of America. The first state to secede
was south carolina after the election of president lincoln in 1860. After South Carolina seceded, the
cotton states of Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas followed, seceding in
January and February 1861. Union and Confederate leadership and fighting soldiers on both sides
believed that slavery caused the Civil War. Union men mainly believed the war was to emancipate
the slaves. Confederates fought to protect southern society, and slavery as a part of it. Sectionalism
refers to the different economies, social structure, culture and customs and values of the North and
South. While the south based their economy off of slave labor and plantation agriculture, the North
was urbanizing, industrializing and had feigned slavery out of existence. Southern slaveholding
states, because of their low cost labor, had little need for industrialization. While the North highly
invested in its industrialization, could not compete with the industries of Europe in offering high

Disney princesses have become a world wide phenomenon and are a staple in households with
young children. The most popular Disney princess movie, Frozen, has been translated into 41
different languages, allowing it to reach a wide audience across the globe. Since these films are
viewed by such a large number of people, many being children of a young age, they have a great
effect on the viewers. Audience members identify with the character most similar to them in terms
of physical similarity; they can learn to identify with characters not similar to them, but are most
content with those visually similar. This identification with characters influences the way children
believe they should act and installs the criteria of perfection. Since the first Disney princess film
was released in 1938, 12 additional films have been released. These films can be grouped into
three eras the Classic era, the Eisner Era, and the Modern Era. As time has progressed so has the
way the women within the film are presented.
In 1937, Disney released its first princess movie, Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs. This was
also the first full length animated feature. In the following years, the Disney Animation Studios
released two more princess films, Cinderella (1950) and Sleeping Beauty (1959). These three

in his characterization of environments: ...environment always provide more information than can
possibly aroused....Environment always represent, simultaneously, instances of redundant
information, of inadequate and ambiguous information, and of conflicting and contradictory
information (p.75). If a person is motivated to interact with the environment, this interaction would

state of affairs caused in Britain by political, social, and spiritual corruption. However, this poem
would not be nearly as effective if it were not for Shelley s powerful use of such classic rhetorical
devices as adjectives, alliteration, assonance, imagery, irony, lists, themes, and verbs. One device
that Shelley employs very potently is the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
3); graves and may (l. 13). Such use of assonance gives the poem rhythm and makes it more
beautiful. [VERY NICE] A fourth device that Shelley makes use of is imagery. The poem is full
of such description and figureS of speech. Shelley uses many violent images, such as the
leechlike (l. 5) image of a king who sucks the blood out of his countrymen. The king is blind in
blood (l. 6), the blood of his own people. If it was not enough that the king sucks the blood out of
his countrymen, BUT he also HAS starved and stabbed (l. 7) them. All these images function
together to describe a horrible king who ignores the needs of his people and sends them out to
fight his war. [VERY GOOD] A fifth method that Shelley brings to bear is irony. The poem is
very negative, and the whole atmosphere implies that the king would lead his country to total
ruin. The irony in the poem is that the destruction of England leads to a new beginning with hope.
Shelley ends his poem by saying that Time s worst statute, unrepealed/ Are graves from which a
glorious Phantom may/ Burst, to illumine our tempestuous day (ll. 12 14). The positive idea of a
new beginning is ironic because it is in such sharp contrast to the death and destruction presented
earlier in the poem. [VERY GOOD] A sixth strategy that Shelley brings his attention to is listing.
Already in the first line, five adjectives are listed to describe the king.

50. Persuasive Speech On Estate Planning
Paul and Christine, thank you for allowing me to speak with you today regarding your estate
plan. This is one of the most vital aspects of a financial plan, and we need to discuss several areas
to make sure that your wishes are honored in the event of your death or incapacity. Today we will
discuss the areas in which I believe need your immediate attention, a durable power of attorney
and health care proxies. Additionally, we will cover some estate planning ideas for your two
children, Peggy and Ron, along with Paul s mother, Claire. Currently, you both have simple wills
leaving everything to the surviving spouse, with Peggy and Ron being contingent beneficiaries.
There are three other pieces that are vital to estate planning; a medical durable... Show more content

In addition to the simple will, I would suggest that both of you go to see an estate planning
attorney and have them establish a medical durable power of attorney, a living will, and a
general durable power of attorney for each of you. It is ok to name the spouse as the agent for
each other but it is also essential to place in the document a successor agent in case your primary
agent is deceased. When choosing that person, make sure that you have a conversation with that
person to make sure that they know your wishes and desires in terms of financial and medical
decisions that they might have to make. For Paul s mother Claire, she also needs the same three
documents. Even though her only source of income is her Social Security Benefits, a durable
power of attorney is necessary if she needs someone to write checks or deposit checks. For
Claire, it is important to have these documents executed while she is still medically competent
because if you wait until after she is declared incompetent, the process becomes more difficult.
Ron and Peggy also would need a medical durable power of attorney, a living will, and a durable
power of attorney. Even though they are young and still have not built up wealth, these are
important documents to have in place in case they are to become severely ill or are in a horrible

51. Process Of Negotiation Essay
Negotiation is a fundamental process used in resolving conflicts, making business deals, and in
managing working relationships with others. Negotiations occur for two reasons: (1) to resolve a
problem or dispute between parties, or (2) to create something new that neither party could do on
its own. Negotiating is a critical, every day skill that is essential anytime it is necessary to create
short term or long lasting agreements. For example: In 1996, Juwan Howard signed a contract
worth over $100 million with the Miami Heatand nearly became the highest paid NBA player
during the 96 97 NBA season. However, his contract was voided by the NBA citing that the Heat
exceeded its salary cap. On August 5, 1996 Howard returned to the folds... Show more content on

He was successful and over the next two season earned respect and his keep. As the next year
approached, as a free agent, he was eligible to move and work to gain more respect and power
through the process of being a free agent. The Miami Heat and President Pat Riley were looking
to get a stab at getting him in Miami. Juwan s Agent David Falk s Job was to get the most for his
client in the end no matter where he played. The Bullets had first crack at offers, ranging in the
high 8 figures and actuals would change as the bidding continued, but the Bullets were not the
only ones looking to Howard. The Miami Heat was also interested and would come into the play
with their own offers to be considered by Howard. During these proceedings, Alonzo Mourning
and many others were working their own deals with the Heat as well as the Bullets. During this
time Pat Riley indicated to Mourning that he would eventually be the highest player in Miami. This
statement would result in a complete unraveling of the most promised line up of players for this
NBA team and a potential of huge success.
As the bidding war continued, Juwan Howard would eventually sign on with the Heat for over
100 million over seven years and various other perks. Mourning on a July 16th interview
indicated his deal at over 100 Million. This caused NBA Officials to investigate over a potential
violation of salary cap because of the
