Reformation Dbq
B2 September 25, 2011 Reformation DBQ During the Protestant Reformation in Germany around
the 16th century chaos ensued. This was lead by Martin Luther, who brought the churches lie out in
the open for all to see. He told the people of the corruption within the Vatican, and how they shouldn
t have to pay indulgences. Secularism spread throughout the lands, people began turning on the
church. This all went on while the Renaissance was still affecting the European nations. The Roman
church fell into a great deal of corruption, under Pope Leo X who began spending more money than
the church had in its treasury. The German people had grievances, brought before the diet, they felt
that the church was heartless using people s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In conclusion many wars were fought over the ideas of the Reformation thinkers like Martin Luther,
and John Calvin. In the end politics and national convictions outweighed the religious convictions
in Europe, allowing church and state to exist together. You might say that Martin Luther was able
to air the churches dirty secrets for all to see. Overall, the Reformation opened the doors for new
opportunities of thought and prepared Europe for the changes soon to

Popular Culture
What is popular (low) culture? Popular culture is a symbolic expression allegedly aligned with the
questionable tastes of the masses, who enjoy commercial junk circulated by the mass media, such
as soap operas, rock music, talk radio, comic books, and monster truck pulls (Campbell, 18). When
looking at the high low hierarchy it often determines the way people view cultureas a whole today,
saying high cultureis good taste and low cultureis questionable taste. Many audiences take for
granted the world of high culture and fine art causing many young people to not know where a
library or museum is located, which promotes people to overlook important information for a paper
or research project on a certain topics. Now many tend to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This blurs the distinctions between fact and fiction, and of art and commerce. As exemplified by
Campbell, Although endurance does not necessarily denote quality, in the view of many critics
better forms of culture have more staying power (23). Democratic reasoning causes the popular
media to inhibit social audiences by promising that products will work for them. TV advertising
and daytime talk shows are two examples of undermining democratic reasoning. A lot of different
audiences are being seduced by the promise of products inhibiting social progress by transforming
them into social hypnotism. Multinational corporations are know from making large profits from
media products by distracting citizens into believing that they will see a change. Weight loss
commercials are known for seductive advertising showing toned, polished bodies on professional
models which often contradict the actual lives of human beings, who can only hope to achieve a
particular look. Many people do not have the financial means to obtain these cosmetic products
seen in many local stores. So many people are addicted to the mass produced media menus that
they have lost not only the will to challenge social inequalities but also their discriminating taste
for finer fare (Campbell, 23). In relation, the popular story of Frankenstein written in 1818 talked
about abusing science and judging people on the basis of

Through their use of vertical integration Zara is able to meet consumer demands in a short period
of time. This model describes their fast fashion where they make the majority of the clothing in
Spain and Morocco. The garments are available in stores in just two weeks. Speed and efficiency
has helped Zara expand overseas and become a huge factor in their success. Zara s products are
available to consumers at their retail stores as well as online. The use of their vertical integration of
designs, just in time manufacturing, delivery and sales create flexible structure for low inventory
and quick response from consumers changing demands.
Today s fashion market is highly competitive and companies need to always be up to date. Zara
has many competitors such as H M, Mango and Gap. The successful concept of Fast fashion has
created many retail stores to change their retail strategy but have not yet to compete with Zara

Gun Control in the United States
Gun Control in the United States has gone out of control. The United States should enforce laws to
not allow any guns in a house hold in order to reduce violence and crime in the country. Reducing
the rate of crime in the United States, controlling big weapons, taxing ammunition, and gun
collection can help make this happen. Gun Control can make this country a safer environment to
live in. Gun Control has obviously gone out of control in the recent years. Look around, they are

We may not see this group but the mafia was big back in the day. The mafia was the leading
group in criminal activity in the 1960 s(Darity). The mafia was a group that would make tons
and tons of money off of drugs, robberies and murders. They would sometimes pay off cops to
look the other way and if they didn t get what they wanted they would use their firearms. With
stronger and more enforced laws, many lives could have been saved. The mafia isn t the only
group with guns being used. Gangs are also using guns on an everyday basis. The gangs on the
streets are just like the mafia. They sell drugs, rob people/stores and murder. Not all gangs are on
the streets, some are underground. The point is without guns on the streets, neighborhoods and
cities will be a safer place to live. A big controversy in congress is passing a law to Tax
ammunition/bullets to a gun. This will not just help the country from crime, it will help the
economy. Today almost 65% of people own a gun and 50% have live ammunition to that gun
(Domenech). Taxing every bullet to every gun in the entire country will generate millions of
dollars. Another idea is to have gun collection days and ammunition collection days. Obviously the
more guns you bring in, the more money the government will give to you. If none of these ideas
work, congress can at least limit the ammunition to a gun in a house. The thought of having a gun

The Theme Of Responsibility In Avi s Nothing But The Truth
Thesis: The author, Avi, shows two themes, truth and responsibility, throughout the novel. In
Nothing But the Truth, Avi makes sure that the reader does not forget these themes. Truth and
responsibility are major lessons that a child should know while growing up. This story shows
that the truth can get out of hand if you don t take responsibility for your actions. Philip Malloy
is known as a good kid. He doesn t act out in class, isn t mean to anyone, and gets pretty good
grades except for Ms. Narwins class. Therefore having a bad grade in her class means that he
cannot try out for the track team. In a conversation between Philip and his father, Philip blames his
bad grade on the teacher and doesn t want to share the truth. I saw your grades.... Show more

Responsibility is a big deal in this book. Philip could have avoided the media and the nation if he
took responsibility for his actions. Philip started humming the national anthem during morning
announcements. Everyday they say Please all rise and stand a respectful, silent attention for the
playing of our national anthem. This has been routine for years. During a conversation between
Dr. Palleni and Philip in the assistants principal s office shows that he could have owned up to
his actions, but decided to stand next to his decision. ...What do you say, Phil, you get up, go
back there, and apologize? To Miss Narwin. Say you ll follow rules. Than, as far as I m
concerned, we forget it. Nothing on your record. What do you say? ... She s wrong. That s all.
She s wrong. No way I m apologizing (61). This conversation proves that Philip did stand up for
himself, but in the wrong way. He was humming the national anthem loudly, but told the
principal he was humming to himself. One final example of responsibility is when Dr. Palleni
was being interviewed by Ms. Stewart and would refuse to talk about his actions. You d didn t
inform your superior, or you didn t suspend the boy for singing The Star Spangled Banner ?
Which? I am simply trying to get my facts straight. Dr. Palleni? Are you still there? I don t wish to
talk to you. No comment? No comment. But you ve got your facts all wrong (93).

Why Was The War Of 1812 Important
The War of 1812, otherwise known as the Second War of Independence was a war that should of
ended long before it actually did. This is because Britain sent a letter to the United States that said
they wanted to withdraw from having a war, but because there was such a long time difference
from when the letter was sent and when it was received the United Statesstarted war a little bit to
soon, and didn t receive the letter in time. Speaking of writing, I was tasked to figure out whether
the War of 1812is important enough to leave in the history book. Some people say it is a waste
of paper, ink, and other materials. I could understand these reasons because the prices of these
items is sky rocketing. In my opinion I do not think the War of 1812 should be taken out of the
history book based on my research and what I have learned.... Show more content on

Well, there are many reasons the United States got involved. It all started with the British putting
trade restrictions on the United States when they wanted to trade with France. The British made
the U.S. pay fees to pass through Britain to get to France. Then the royal British Navy had an
idea that impressment, seizing and stealing people off of our ships was the right idea, all because
British didn t show any respect towards their soldiers, making the soldiers leave. Finally the U.S.

Apology Of Socrates Apology
The Apology of Socrates is actually not an apology at all. It is a statement made by Socrates in
defense of his actions in court. Socrates was accused of not believing in the gods of Athens, and
teaching the children of Athens to believe in other gods. These gods were suggested to be made
up by Socrates himself ( Apology, 121).
Socrates put himself in the jury s shoes by questioning his own behavior before the trial. He
understood that they may be dumbfounded how his reputation could spiral down so quickly.
Socrates still insisted; even after empathizing with the jury, that he had gained this reputation by
falling victim of wisdom. Plato continued on with his remarks calling this wisdom human wisdom .
Soon Socrates warned that he was going

Mythology Vs Greek Mythology
Throughout human history people around the world have looked upon the stars and pondered their
very existence, seeking answers for questions that seem as unanswerable to many: how did we get
here, what are we here for, what happens when we die? More often than not theses questions were
left unresolved and humanity was forced to find reason in their own existence. Humanity began to
look at the world around them for explanation, slowly creating stories that would become the
building blocks of religion. These stories or Myths became an extremely important part of cultures
all around the world, giving an explanation to questions that once seemed unanswerable.
Mythology is often viewed as stories that were only told for entertainment purposes, this could not
be farther from the truth. Although they were often used for entertainment purposes mythology in
its most basic since is a religious story, this understandably confuses many individuals. This is
because mythology is broken down into two key sections, dead mythology and living mythology.
Dead mythology is what most individuals think of when hearing the term mythology today, these
are stories of the past that were once held as truth but are no longer practiced. While living
mythology refers to the religious stories we see in our day to day lives. While the Greek and
Norse mythology is considered dead mythology Abrahamic text such as the Bible, Torah, Karan all
fit the definition of living mythology. This is because theses

Should College Athletes Have Unrestricted Freedom
1.Should athletes have unrestricted freedom of speech on social media sites? Why or why not?
I do not believe that athletes should have unrestricted freedom of speech on social media. I
understand that as an 18 22 year old, you are considered an adult. You can make your own
decisions on what you would want to post or not post. However, these students are now not only
representing themselves, but also the university and their basketball program. If a student athlete
posts something like Buck Burnette did on Facebook about President Obama, the repercussions are
headed to the university as well as the student. Although they are adults, college students are not as
matured yet so keeping some restriction is understandable. Also, it could help ... Show more content

these different from the ethical ways non athletes should use social media? Would you be able to

As a college athlete, there are definitely ethical duties that must be held regarding social media
that non athletes do not have to follow by. As a student athlete, you are being watched by so
many people, and you are a key representative for the university and the city you are in. The
children, adults, and possible future recruits are following these college athletes on social media
and are role models for these individuals. As a college athlete you are under a microscope and it is
their responsibility to make sure not to do anything inappropriate. As a non athlete, you do not have
those responsibilities as well as not have the responsibilities with representing the program or
university, stated in previous questions. Ethical duties should still be there for non athletes, but the
consequences are worse for all parties when an athlete does something

William Gulliver s Travels And Oroonoko
Neoclassicism in Gulliver s Travels and Oroonoko Penned sometime between the mid 1600s and
late 1700s, a literary genre defined by artificiality and formality, neoclassical literature reflected the
style of literature adopted from the Greeks and the Romans. As such, the literature tends to focus on
glib characters who were preoccupied with appearances rather than genuineness. In addition, having
good manners and public comportment was essential. The literature during the Neoclassical era is
characterized by structure, order, and accuracy, traits that directly undermined attitudes during the
Renaissance period. As such, authors represented man as innately flawed yet striving to show both
self control and restraint. Although Gulliver s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Swift s Gulliver s Travels is a clear example of satirical social commentary intended to shed light
on man s imperfections and the reality of human nature. The protagonist first travels to an island
called Lilliput, a place in which the denizens small males who are about six inches in height
comport themselves in a petty, pretentious manner and convey the self importance often
demonstrated by life sized men. These residents are vicious, morally bereft, hypocritical, jealous,
greedy, and deceitful, displaying all very human traits. Swift utilizes the Lilliputians to satirize
particular events and people in the protagonist s life and to mirror the flawed and treacherous
nature of man that became so blaringly public during the eighteenth century. In comparing
Lilliputian physical stature and societal values with his own size and English bred values,
Gulliver finds the Lilliputians to be physically and societally flawed. Gulliver then travels in
Brobdingnag, an island peopled by 60 foot giants, where the residents put the protagonist back in
his place, offering the bulk of your natives, to be the most pernicious race of odious vermin . . . to
crawl upon the surface of the Earth. (1460). As such, the giants function as moralizing elements
who reside in a practice, moral utopia. Virtue and good will permeate this island, which manifests in
the laws that govern the island and

Character Analysis Of Morris Lurie s Running Nicely
Running nicely is a short story written by Morris Lurie, about two orphan brothers: the protagonist,
Moses, a twenty two years old young man and the antagonist, Ben, his younger brother. The story is
set during the night at ten PM, in the streets in suburban Melbourne. When the two brothers are
running, Moses realizes he has difficulty accepting that Ben is getting older, and that his younger
brother is now running faster than him. The author suggests that familyrelationships after a loss
may result in being abnormal and can have consequences on one s development and behavior. The
author effectively conveys this theme through his use of characterization, narrative point of view
and irony.
To begin, the characterization of Moses in relation with his brother Ben demonstrates how the
protagonist is struggling to be a perfect father substitute, after both parents passing away. Moses
makes Ben grow too fast by doing adult type activities, like showing him jazz music, making him
watch old movies and making him read books about war. By getting his brother learn about other
things instead of watching the TV like their neighbors, he feels proud about how [...] he has weaned
his brother, a former three hours a nigh man, off that awful habit. (2). After the death of their
parents, Moses must take the responsibility of a father, but ends up controlling Ben too much by
trying to educate him as an adult, while he is only twelve years old. By striving for perfection,

Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl Essays
The concentration camps that were run by the Nazis during World War II can easily be labeled
as one of the most grotesque examples of cruelty in the entire world. The people that were sent
to these concentration camps were treated as less than human by the power hungry leaders of
the camp. As we have all learned in history classes throughout our lives, the conditions of these
camps were blatantly abhorrent, and it is a surprise that people made it out of these camps alive.
In his book, Man s Search for Meaning, Viktor E. Frankl uses his experiences in a concentration
camp as an example to his readers that life holds a potential meaning no matter what condition a
person is in. In the two parts of his book he analyzes his experiences and the... Show more content

The way Frankl described it made it seem as if it was one of those situations where a person
responds in a way that is not socially acceptable, but they cannot help it. In this case, the inmates
found humor in the sense that they were in disbelief that these things were happening to them and
did not know how to react. The other emotion that was immediately felt by the inmates entering the
camp was curiosity because they did not know whether they were going to live or die. Living in the
camps for the first few days filled the inmates with questions about whether or not they would
survive and how they would go about doing so. Also, almost every inmate justifiably entertained
thoughts of suicide, but according to Frankl there was little point in committing suicide, since, for
the average inmate, life expectation, [...] was very poor (18). Additionally, the first days and weeks
in a concentration camp filled the inmates with fear and disgust, since they were not accustomed to
seeing humans being treated in such disturbing manners. Frankl explains that all the campers
slowly became acclimated to their situations once they realized that a man can get used to anything,
[without knowing] how (18). This observation by Frankl is imperative to his own survival in the
concentration camps, and it emphasizes that idea that in order to survive the abhorrent conditions
of the camp one must forget their former life and realize that they needed to survive the present

interesting points emerged from our study and we uncovered an array of themes that motivated
students and influenced their final decision. The two key points that caught my attention were
affordability and Hilo s sense of Place a geographical term referring to how places differ in
relation to physical and human characteristics. These themes spoke to me on a personal level and
their importance was confirmed upon reading words of a participant when posed the question,

because their families were here in Hilo. One participant was born and raised in Ka u and after

Freud And The Unconscious Mind
Freud and the Unconscious Mind
Known widely as the Father of modern psychology, there is not a scholar in the current history of
psychology that has been so widely debated, criticised or had as much influence on our current
ways of thinking and understanding layman s psychology as Sigmund Freud. To put into context
his vast influence, consider the term Freudian Slip a phrase so innocuous yet extremely telling of
the vast influence of Sigmund Freud on our everyday life. Freud represents a layman s ideas of
psychology, the image of a well dressed housewife smoking a cigarette reclining on a low leather
chaise whilst spilling her darkest secrets to an elderly doctor who takes notes and nods his head
occasionally. This is an image seen countless times in various different scenarios, the patients and
props varying yet the influence remains the same.
Freud s theories in many ways were revolutionary; far ahead of their time and despite the criticism
that followed; their popularity remains undiminished as Sigmund Freud remains one of the most
researched and written about psychologists in modern history. However his most significant work
was the Psychodynamic Theory. The Psychodynamic Theory represents all of Freud s work
regarding the human psyche, it explains personality in terms of conscious and unconscious forces,
building upon his previous collaboration with Josef Breuer in 1892 on the theory that the mind is a
complex energy system (Sigmund Freud: The Unconscious Mind

is because of there are many chances in the market. They can also set up the environment same
as office from home easily. In this essay, I will discuss about the advantage and disadvantage of
working at home and propose my personal opinion. The advantage which I would like to share
is the employee can learn more and become more independent. It is because if you don t have
colleagues, a leader or a tech team to teach you or help you, you ll have to find out yourself the
way to settle your problem. By looking for your own answers you will becoming more proactive
to find what you need on your own. But, you still can ask questions and get help if you need to.

If you work at office, you will feel tired when you reach home. Working at home you can have
more times to play games with your children. Working at home means that housewife gets to
plan how she can dedicate a portion of your quality time with her loved ones. She can also
probably save on elder children s care arrangements. For younger children it is probably
impractical to forgo proper childcare arrangements and try to balance care and supervision with
the demands of the job. This is the best time to do it. If housewife take care of her children while
working, she will face plenty of distractions when she is working alone. The thing about working
from home is that a lot will be placed in front of you because you are at home all the time. You
might have to get off an important phone to call to attend your kids or do the laundry or something
urgent that comes at home. Finishing all your chores is needed but you must remember to keep

Cloning Bad
Is cloning bad or good for us? According to NIH website, it states there are three different types of
artificial cloning: gene cloning, reproductive cloning and therapeutic cloning. In our biology
textbook it states that cloning makes an identical copy of a gene. Gene cloning replicates genes and
DNA segments. Reproductive cloningmakes a duplication of an animal. Therapeutic cloning makes
embryonic stem cells to help produce tissues to restore damaged or diseased tissues. I believe that
cloning technology can help resolve many things, we would be able to learn and develop more
things that could help the world.
An example of reproductive cloning is Dolly the sheep. She was the first mammal to be cloned
from an adult cell, which is much more difficult to clone from. She lived to be only 6 years old
due to arthritis. They took an udder cell from a six year old Finn Dorset white sheep. They
changed the growth medium to keep the udder cell alive but it stopped them from expanding.
According to the article Cloning Dolly The Sheep ,they injected the cell into an unfertilised egg
cell and made the cells fuse by using electrical pulses. Therefore, they moved the DNA of the donor

According to the website Greengarage, it stated the artificial interference is wrong and can lead to a
domino effect, other attributes of life could be altered and have a negative result. This shows that
cloning could have a domino effect in nature, if we change one thing it could change everything;
the results it could be bad. Furthermore it states human DNA can be contaminated, and the chances
of success are very rare. This shows that many things could go wrong during cloning and we don t
know if we would be able to solve the problem. Thus, cloning also has disadvantages like interfering

Analysis Of The Black Cat By Heidi Hanrahan
In Heidi Hanrahan s analysis of The Black Cat, By Edgar Allen Poe, she starts off by claiming that
this story is Poe s commentary on nineteenth century American domesticity (Hanrahan, 40).
Hanrahan then points out that Pluto should be viewed not as a symbol for something deeper, but
as what he is in reality; the narrators pet. She uses excerpts and quotes from texts such as Uncle
Tom s Cabin and The Lamplighter to support her claims that having and Caring for animals, writers
argued, helped people become better children and adults (Hanrahan, 47). In these excerpts and
quotes, parents and people who witnessed someone mistreating an animal either inflicted harm on
the abuser or expressed great sympathy for the defenseless animal. Hanrahan explains that, because
we must take care of these animals and treat them well, we can learn very important moral lessons
from them. Ideally, everyone who owned a pet in the nineteenth century was a person of high
morals, therefore, according to Hanrahan, having a pet was ...a marker of domestic bliss and
success. (Hanrahan, 42). Concluding her analysis, Hanrahan explains that by writing The Black Cat,
Poe is responding ...to his fellow contemporaries celebration of domesticity... Poe does so by
dismissing ...the comforting reassurance of domesticity... by Rejecting the idea that a loving home
can ensure stability... (Hanrahan, 53) instead he shows the side of domesticity that many people do
not want to see. Poe s story explains how an ordinary and normally functioning home can quickly
turn into a very calamitous situation.
I believe that during Hanrahan s analysis of The Black Cat, she only scratched the surface of the
story without giving it deeper thought. She states, ...the story resists full explanation or
understanding, and that is precisely what is so disturbing about it... (Hanrahan, 41). Although
Hanrahan s analysis covers the many different angles of domesticity and explains that there is no
reason behind the narrator s actions, she fails to examine the narrators shift in mental state
throughout the story. Poe explains the shift in the narrators mental state as a message to his fellow
contemporaries showing the devolution from domestic sanity to insanity. For

The Creation of Shelter in Pre-Colonial North Australia...
The Creation Of Shelter In Pre Colonial Far North Australia And New Zealand
Shelter has always been a necessity for mankind. We, as humans, have a relationship with the land
that we must respect to live happily amongst it. Spaning back as far as the pre Colonial Australia,
indigenous Australians understood this connection excellently. Their shelters seemed to bend with
the land as they understood crucial elements within the architecture to compensate for distinctive
climate and cultural factors to fit their nomadic lifestyle. Their living style was very minimalistic
yet practical. The indigenous Australians only built what they needed to survive. For evidence of
this, we will be looking at the text; Gunyah, Goondie and Wurley: the ... Show more content on

Similar to conservation of food and environment, their architectural style was also minimalistic.
The far north indigenous tribes of Australia centralised their camps and villages in the proximity
of a running stream. This ensured that their food sources weren t toxic plants, that they had an
abundance of riverine species such as crayfish, eels and fish, the construction of earth oven with
river sand and rock for manufacturing nutcrackers and axes7. These sorts of villages were
constructed quite permanently to facilitate older relatives in a cool and providing place whist
other tribe members continued to move from place to place8. Building near a stream was a
sustainable idea as the surrounding area was far less dense, they didn t need to clear much spaces
to build a camp. They would aim for places with much sun light to escape the constant wet
environment of the rainforest.9 They had to take care that the ground was semi elevated to ensure
the camp was not flood prone, that the river they were camped next to would not rise too much. In
these base camps, more permanent dome structures were built. The indigenous understood the
different between structures that would support them for longer periods of time and that of a
nomadic lifestyle. Similarly, the early settlements of the first New Zealanders were often at
harbors or the mouths of rivers which were close to the sea. This provided them with good access to

Stein And Stryker Summary
Stein and Stryker respond to two important challenges within the field: Stein responds to the
struggle of finding a methodology of historiography that allows for a distinction to be drawn
between popular conceptions and lived experiences of sex, gender, sexuality, love, marriage and
family, while Stryker unravels the complexity of the register of the discourse, specifically when
defining the taxonomies of gender, sex and sexuality.
The former is significant because given that sexuality and sex were considered to be parts of the
private sphere of the lives of individuals, it is hard to find reliable, primary sources on which to
base a historical timeline on. In addition, finding sources originating from both institutions of power
and individuals

The Uk Would Benefit Greatly from the Wider Use of...
The UK would benefit greatly from the wider use of referendumss? Discuss.
A referendum is a form of direct democracy that involves a public vote on a single issue of public
policy. It is a way of presenting a debated issue to public decision. The most recent referendum was
in the UK; the 2014 Scottish Independence Referendum which asked the question whether Scotland
should break away from the UK or not.
There are a variety of arguments both for and against the wider use of referendum in the UK. The
use was greatly favoured by Tony Blair and his new Labour government in 1997 because they took
the view that referendum was a democratic device that allows people the opportunity to give a
direct voice in decision making. Therefore, any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through this direct way, the decisions which get decided by a referendum would be less well
thought through and could cause more harm than good to the British politics because the general
public is less likely to actually have access to knowledge needed to fully understand the issue at
hand, unlike the professional elected politicians. These politicians also protect the minorities in
their constinuents via the constitution. A referendum would undermine the rights of those
protected minorities and result in a tyranny of the majority . The legitimacy of the representativ
politicians decisions would then appear to be weak because they were undermined by
referendum determined decisions like when the Labour s proposed regional assembly in 2001
was crushed by a referendum in the North East which produced a result of 78% saying no and only
22% saying yes .
The use of referendums can also undermine Parliament s sovereignity over the issues of other
countries in the UK. The way this is not beneficial to the UK is not only referendums are
undermining the sovereignty of Parliament over the UK but it also makes the British constitutionn
look inflexible when it comes to deciding over matters of Scotland and Wales. And if favourably
popular enough, a referendum can establish a second goverment within the UK which it eventually
does with Scotland. Referendums held in September

Women s Rights During The 19th Century
From the beginning of year 1832, William Lloyd Garrison, an abolitionists and a reporter
Association organized an association against slavery and encouraged the full participation of
women. Garrison s idea is not supported by most of the abolitionists. Those abolitionists who did
not want women to participate in established another abolitionist organization. Abolitionism, also
known as abolition of slavery, is a political movement in order to abolishing the slave trade and
slavery system. This movement began in the Age of Enlightenment and went to the peak time in
the 19th century. In many places, this movement was getting substantially success. A handful of
women began to be famous as abolitionist writers and speakers such as Lydia Maria Child,
GrimkГ© sisters and Abby Kelley. Although these women s speech focused on the evils of
slavery, the fact that these women speak in public itself was noteworthy and represented women s
rights. Since women began to seek more control over their lives, women s rights received more
attention. Husband and father of one family still held the right to speak and even could arrange
the lives of women. Society prohibited women from inheriting property, signing contracts, serving
on a jury and voting in elections. Women s employers thought women could only expect to get
some jobs in service industry and can only get the half of men s income if they did the same work.
In 1836, Ernestine Ross began to preach to women s groups something about

Tacitus Pessimism In Thrasea
It is easy to see the pessimism in Tacitus s Annals. Repeated descriptions of hypocritical, violent,
and corrupt action seem to indicate Tacitus s view that this was a wholly unjust period of Roman
history. However, Tacitus is not so unilateral. Subtly he places characters and situations that invoke
hope for the future. In examining Tacituss treatment of Thrasea, we can understand some of this
reticent yet tenacious hope. Looking at Thrasea, we can see hope for Justice on two connecting
fronts. First, Tacitus s favorable opinion of Thrasea demonstrated through his narration of events
provides an example of what Tacitus values in the midst of tyranny. These values of moderation and
virtue also include steadfastly opposing Nero, at times, showing that even in an unjust era
resistance is still possible. Second, Thrasea s advise and actions give us hope in a future
generation that will carry on past these troubling times and will hopefully follow Thrasea s
example. Through these two lenses of examining Thrasea, we can see Tacitus s hope. Thrasea is a

While at first he is reticent about Thrasea s radicalism because of its ineffectiveness, he later
retracts this judgment and calls Thrasea s careful actions against Nero virtuous. But, this alone
does not immediately appear to point towards hope. While Thrasea may have been a virtuous
character that stood up against Nero s tyranny, he does not survive. Just like so many before
him, he is killed based upon Nero s grudge rather than any true Justice. How does this promote
optimism? The answer lies not in Thrasea himself, but in his actions. The hope in Thrasea s case
does not come only from his own story, but from the advice he gives to the youth around him as
he is about to die. This advice provides a philosophy for enduring the hardships of Nero that deeply
resonates at the end of the

Treatments that rejuvenate the skin
Skin resurfacing improves the rejuvenation of the skin by stimulating fibroblasts, the cells that are
responsible for the production of collagen that gives the skin its youthfulness and elasticity. As the
time passes, smoking, age and exposure to sun cause the breaking down of collagen which is why
saggy skin and fine wrinkles may appear. Differences in pigment and texture are also the

The divorce rate in the secular world is over 50% (JPost, 2009) which includes both non
Orthodox Jews and inter religion marriages. The Modern Orthodox Jews have a significantly
lower divorce rate as there are no conflicts that have to do with which religion to follow
(Waxman, 2009). In the secular or less Orthodox world, children can be brought up following two
religions or even no religion at all. If they are brought up with no religion, there is a very low
chance that they will follow Judaism when they grow older. Also by following two religions they
may become very confused and they may in turn cause them to choose one over the other. When
even one child doesn t choose Judaism, the Jewish population suffers. It may not seem like a big
issue when looking at one child but with a 72% intermarriage rate in non Orthodox America
(Simple to remember, 2011) it can be a huge predicament. However some people believe that
limiting intermarriage will harm the Jewish population by not letting people marry who they love.
Going along this argument, if they do not date people of other religions in the first place, they can
not fall in love with them. With Modern Orthodox Judaism, intermarriage is very rare which helps
keep the Jewish people a nation with a growing population.

Introduction:
Afferent neurons are sensory neurons that conduct signals toward the central nervous system (CNS)
and are specialized in sensing heat, pressure, and chemicals (Saladin, 2011). These neurons send
information about stimuli to the CNS and are located everywhere in the body but always end up in
the brain and spinal cord (Saladin, 2011). Afferent neurons also send information about internal and
external environmental factors to the CNS. (Sherwood, 2014). Efferent neurons lead to muscle
cells, and send signals away from the CNS (Saladin, 2011). These neurons send signals to
effectors like muscle and gland cells that carry out the function of the received response (Saladin,
2011). The cerebral cortex in the forebrain has special senses and general senses (Saladin, 2011).
Some of these senses include smell, hearing, equilibrium, vision, touch, pressure, temperature, and
pain. These all deal with sensory awareness and motor control. (Saladin, 2011). The spinal cord is
located between the afferent and efferent fibers pf the peripheral nervous system (PNS) which
serves two important roles (Sherwood, 2014). The first is a connection from the brain to the rest of
the body to send and receive

The Causes And Effects Of Climate Change
Climate Change
Climate change is caused by human activity. This climate change in turn, causes hurricanes. The
hurricanes will destroy the human population main resources. This will lower people into having
less important resources such as: food, shelter, and water. Having less resources could lead to
poverty, which is known in developing countries such as: India, Philippines, and Haiti (Weeks 56).
There are also changes in the oceans that are being affected. This change occurring could lead to the
ocean over flooding due to contaminating the ocean caused by humans because humans have an
impact on the environment. Humanity needs to cut down the production in the coal industry because
people are burning the coal; this is causing the coal to pollute the air people breath. The effects of
climate change is caused by deforestation, overpopulation, burning coal, and contaminated food
production.
The cutting of the trees is causing deforestation, the trees are a helpful resource in the environment.
According to an article by Struck states, Experts say deforestation threatens a delicate balance in
which forests act as Earth s lungs: absorbing carbon dioxide the biggest contributor to climate
change and expelling oxygen (29). This effect causes more of the air to become contaminated by
carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is a harmful gas that is released into the air. The trees help keep
down the carbon dioxide in the air; this releases oxygen, so people can breathe clean air. As

Workplace Harassment In The Workplace
The workplace has an environment where people having different communication styles,
personalities and views come to interact. These differences play a significant role in sourcing
these workplace issues. These factors can ultimately lead to tension and stress at workplace for
people who are involved. Even though, all colleagues have all the rights for fair treatment and
they should feel safe in their workplace, some employees are bullied harassed or discriminated.
Specifically, people, who belong to LGBT community, are unsafe in their workplaces by non

performance and these people have to struggle in order to perform at their workplace. These
people also face the difficulty in finding a suitable job that matches their abilities and interests
(Hershcovis 499 519) Employee mistreatment problem can result in low job performance, less
productivity, termination of work, increased dissatisfaction, anxiety, stress and other mental
problems. Workplace harassment can also result on other legal problems. APA notes that
insecurity in job and lack of moral support at workplace may lead to exacerbated workplace

The Battle At Midway During World War II
Abstract
The battle at Midway was a pivotal moment in World War II. The United States Navy was in
desperate need for victory, while the over confident Japanese military force was riding on the tails
of previous success. The U.S. gained intelligence and surprised the unsuspecting Japanese fleet. The
battle was swift and just, with Japan sustaining a significant loss of life. Their loss of artillery,
equipment and supplies proved to be unsurmountable. These losses led to a major shift in
momentum towards the United States. The Japanese confidence level plummeted, in both the
soldiers and the public. The U.S. celebrated the victory and built on that energy. Japan was forced
to refocus military plans. Strategic initiatives changed from the Pacific theater to other, less
desirable locations. A desperate focus to rebuild from the human and material loss was attempted.
Carrier defense was strategized. Despite these refocus attempts; Japan was unable to regain triumph,
making the Battle at Midway the most pivotal event in World War II history. Japan s losses, change
in momentum and forced military refocus proved to be the revolution necessary to provide U.S. the
triumph.
The Battle of Midway June 4 7, 1942 recorded the most pivotal battle of World War II, the Battle of

They would sometimes pay off cops to look the other way and if they didn t get what they wanted they would use their firearms. With stronger and more enforced laws, many lives could have been saved. The mafia isn t the only group with guns being used. Gangs are also using guns on an everyday basis. The gangs on the streets are just like the mafia. They sell drugs, rob people/stores and murder. Not all gangs are on the streets, some are underground. The point is without guns on the streets, neighborhoods and cities will be a safer place to live. A big controversy in congress is passing a law to Tax ammunition/bullets to a gun. This will not just help the country from crime, it will help the economy. Today almost 65% of people own a gun and 50% have live ammunition to that gun (Domenech). Taxing every bullet to every gun in the entire country will generate millions of dollars. Another idea is to have gun collection days and ammunition collection days. Obviously the more guns you bring in, the more money the government will give to you. If none of these ideas work, congress can at least limit the ammunition to a gun in a house. The thought of having a gun ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Theme Of Responsibility In Avi s Nothing But The Truth Thesis: The author, Avi, shows two themes, truth and responsibility, throughout the novel. In Nothing But the Truth, Avi makes sure that the reader does not forget these themes. Truth and responsibility are major lessons that a child should know while growing up. This story shows that the truth can get out of hand if you don t take responsibility for your actions. Philip Malloy is known as a good kid. He doesn t act out in class, isn t mean to anyone, and gets pretty good grades except for Ms. Narwins class. Therefore having a bad grade in her class means that he cannot try out for the track team. This has been routine for years. During a conversation between Dr. Palleni and Philip in the assistants principal s office shows that he could have owned up to his actions, but decided to stand next to his decision. ...What do you say, Phil, you get up, go back there, and apologize? To Miss Narwin. Say you ll follow rules. Than, as far as I m concerned, we forget it. Nothing on your record. What do you say? ... She s wrong. That s all. She s wrong. No way I m apologizing (61). This conversation proves that Philip did stand up for himself, but in the wrong way. He was humming the national anthem loudly, but told the principal he was humming to himself. One final example of responsibility is when Dr. Palleni was being interviewed by Ms. Stewart and would refuse to talk about his actions. Socrates was accused of not believing in the gods of Athens, and teaching the children of Athens to believe in other gods. These gods were suggested to be made up by Socrates himself ( Apology, 121). Socrates put himself in the jury s shoes by questioning his own behavior before the trial. He understood that they may be dumbfounded how his reputation could spiral down so quickly. • 9. Mythology Vs Greek Mythology Throughout human history people around the world have looked upon the stars and pondered their very existence, seeking answers for questions that seem as unanswerable to many: how did we get here, what are we here for, what happens when we die? More often than not theses questions were left unresolved and humanity was forced to find reason in their own existence. Humanity began to look at the world around them for explanation, slowly creating stories that would become the building blocks of religion. These stories or Myths became an extremely important part of cultures all around the world, giving an explanation to questions that once seemed unanswerable. Mythology is often viewed as stories that were only told for entertainment purposes, this could not be farther from the truth. Although they were often used for entertainment purposes mythology in its most basic since is a religious story, this understandably confuses many individuals. This is because mythology is broken down into two key sections, dead mythology and living mythology. Dead mythology is what most individuals think of when hearing the term mythology today, these are stories of the past that were once held as truth but are no longer practiced. While living mythology refers to the religious stories we see in our day to day lives. William Gulliver s Travels And Oroonoko Neoclassicism in Gulliver s Travels and Oroonoko Penned sometime between the mid 1600s and late 1700s, a literary genre defined by artificiality and formality, neoclassical literature reflected the style of literature adopted from the Greeks and the Romans. As such, the literature tends to focus on glib characters who were preoccupied with appearances rather than genuineness. In addition, having good manners and public comportment was essential. The literature during the Neoclassical era is characterized by structure, order, and accuracy, traits that directly undermined attitudes during the Renaissance period. Swift s Gulliver s Travels is a clear example of satirical social commentary intended to shed light on man s imperfections and the reality of human nature. The protagonist first travels to an island called Lilliput, a place in which the denizens small males who are about six inches in height comport themselves in a petty, pretentious manner and convey the self importance often demonstrated by life sized men. These residents are vicious, morally bereft, hypocritical, jealous, greedy, and deceitful, displaying all very human traits. Swift utilizes the Lilliputians to satirize particular events and people in the protagonist s life and to mirror the flawed and treacherous nature of man that became so blaringly public during the eighteenth century. In comparing Lilliputian physical stature and societal values with his own size and English bred values, Gulliver finds the Lilliputians to be physically and societally flawed. Gulliver then travels in Brobdingnag, an island peopled by 60 foot giants, where the residents put the protagonist back in his place, offering the bulk of your natives, to be the most pernicious race of odious vermin . . . to crawl upon the surface of the Earth. Character Analysis Of Morris Lurie s Running Nicely Running nicely is a short story written by Morris Lurie, about two orphan brothers: the protagonist, Moses, a twenty two years old young man and the antagonist, Ben, his younger brother. The story is set during the night at ten PM, in the streets in suburban Melbourne. When the two brothers are running, Moses realizes he has difficulty accepting that Ben is getting older, and that his younger brother is now running faster than him. The author suggests that familyrelationships after a loss may result in being abnormal and can have consequences on one s development and behavior. The author effectively conveys this theme through his use of characterization, narrative point of view and irony. To begin, the characterization of Moses in relation with his brother Ben demonstrates how the protagonist is struggling to be a perfect father substitute, after both parents passing away. Moses makes Ben grow too fast by doing adult type activities, like showing him jazz music, making him watch old movies and making him read books about war. The other emotion that was immediately felt by the inmates entering the camp was curiosity because they did not know whether they were going to live or die. Living in the camps for the first few days filled the inmates with questions about whether or not they would survive and how they would go about doing so. • 24. Analysis Of The Black Cat By Heidi Hanrahan In Heidi Hanrahan s analysis of The Black Cat, By Edgar Allen Poe, she starts off by claiming that this story is Poe s commentary on nineteenth century American domesticity (Hanrahan, 40). Hanrahan then points out that Pluto should be viewed not as a symbol for something deeper, but as what he is in reality; the narrators pet. She uses excerpts and quotes from texts such as Uncle Tom s Cabin and The Lamplighter to support her claims that having and Caring for animals, writers argued, helped people become better children and adults (Hanrahan, 47). In these excerpts and quotes, parents and people who witnessed someone mistreating an animal either inflicted harm on the abuser or expressed great sympathy for the defenseless animal. Hanrahan explains that, because we must take care of these animals and treat them well, we can learn very important moral lessons from them. Ideally, everyone who owned a pet in the nineteenth century was a person of high morals, therefore, according to Hanrahan, having a pet was ...a marker of domestic bliss and success. (Hanrahan, 42). Concluding her analysis, Hanrahan explains that by writing The Black Cat, Poe is responding ...to his fellow contemporaries celebration of domesticity... Poe does so by dismissing ...the comforting reassurance of domesticity... by Rejecting the idea that a loving home can ensure stability... (Hanrahan, 53) instead he shows the side of domesticity that many people do not want to see. Poe s story explains how an ordinary and normally functioning home can quickly turn into a very calamitous situation. I believe that during Hanrahan s analysis of The Black Cat, she only scratched the surface of the story without giving it deeper thought. She states, ...the story resists full explanation or understanding, and that is precisely what is so disturbing about it... (Hanrahan, 41). Although Hanrahan s analysis covers the many different angles of domesticity and explains that there is no reason behind the narrator s actions, she fails to examine the narrators shift in mental state throughout the story. Poe explains the shift in the narrators mental state as a message to his fellow contemporaries showing the devolution from domestic sanity to insanity. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They would aim for places with much sun light to escape the constant wet environment of the rainforest.9 They had to take care that the ground was semi elevated to ensure the camp was not flood prone, that the river they were camped next to would not rise too much. In these base camps, more permanent dome structures were built. The indigenous understood the different between structures that would support them for longer periods of time and that of a nomadic lifestyle. Similarly, the early settlements of the first New Zealanders were often at harbors or the mouths of rivers which were close to the sea. This provided them with good access to ... • 26. Stein And Stryker Summary Stein and Stryker respond to two important challenges within the field: Stein responds to the struggle of finding a methodology of historiography that allows for a distinction to be drawn between popular conceptions and lived experiences of sex, gender, sexuality, love, marriage and family, while Stryker unravels the complexity of the register of the discourse, specifically when defining the taxonomies of gender, sex and sexuality. The former is significant because given that sexuality and sex were considered to be parts of the private sphere of the lives of individuals, it is hard to find reliable, primary sources on which to base a historical timeline on. In addition, finding sources originating from both institutions of power and individuals ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. The Uk Would Benefit Greatly from the Wider Use of... The UK would benefit greatly from the wider use of referendumss? Discuss. A referendum is a form of direct democracy that involves a public vote on a single issue of public policy. It is a way of presenting a debated issue to public decision. The most recent referendum was in the UK; the 2014 Scottish Independence Referendum which asked the question whether Scotland should break away from the UK or not. There are a variety of arguments both for and against the wider use of referendum in the UK. The use was greatly favoured by Tony Blair and his new Labour government in 1997 because they took the view that referendum was a democratic device that allows people the opportunity to give a direct voice in decision making. Therefore, any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through this direct way, the decisions which get decided by a referendum would be less well thought through and could cause more harm than good to the British politics because the general public is less likely to actually have access to knowledge needed to fully understand the issue at hand, unlike the professional elected politicians. These politicians also protect the minorities in their constinuents via the constitution. A referendum would undermine the rights of those protected minorities and result in a tyranny of the majority . The legitimacy of the representativ politicians decisions would then appear to be weak because they were undermined by referendum determined decisions like when the Labour s proposed regional assembly in 2001 was crushed by a referendum in the North East which produced a result of 78% saying no and only 22% saying yes . The use of referendums can also undermine Parliament s sovereignity over the issues of other countries in the UK. The way this is not beneficial to the UK is not only referendums are undermining the sovereignty of Parliament over the UK but it also makes the British constitutionn look inflexible when it comes to deciding over matters of Scotland and Wales. And if favourably popular enough, a referendum can establish a second goverment within the UK which it eventually does with Scotland. Referendums held in September ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Women s Rights During The 19th Century From the beginning of year 1832, William Lloyd Garrison, an abolitionists and a reporter Association organized an association against slavery and encouraged the full participation of women. Garrison s idea is not supported by most of the abolitionists. Those abolitionists who did not want women to participate in established another abolitionist organization. Abolitionism, also known as abolition of slavery, is a political movement in order to abolishing the slave trade and slavery system. This movement began in the Age of Enlightenment and went to the peak time in the 19th century. In many places, this movement was getting substantially success. A handful of women began to be famous as abolitionist writers and speakers such as Lydia Maria Child, GrimkГ© sisters and Abby Kelley. Although these women s speech focused on the evils of slavery, the fact that these women speak in public itself was noteworthy and represented women s rights. Since women began to seek more control over their lives, women s rights received more attention. Husband and father of one family still held the right to speak and even could arrange the lives of women. Society prohibited women from inheriting property, signing contracts, serving on a jury and voting in elections. Women s employers thought women could only expect to get some jobs in service industry and can only get the half of men s income if they did the same work. In 1836, Ernestine Ross began to preach to women s groups something about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Tacitus Pessimism In Thrasea It is easy to see the pessimism in Tacitus s Annals. Repeated descriptions of hypocritical, violent, and corrupt action seem to indicate Tacitus s view that this was a wholly unjust period of Roman history. However, Tacitus is not so unilateral. Subtly he places characters and situations that invoke hope for the future. In examining Tacituss treatment of Thrasea, we can understand some of this reticent yet tenacious hope. Looking at Thrasea, we can see hope for Justice on two connecting fronts. First, Tacitus s favorable opinion of Thrasea demonstrated through his narration of events provides an example of what Tacitus values in the midst of tyranny. These values of moderation and virtue also include steadfastly opposing Nero, at times, showing that even in an unjust era resistance is still possible. Second, Thrasea s advise and actions give us hope in a future generation that will carry on past these troubling times and will hopefully follow Thrasea s example. Through these two lenses of examining Thrasea, we can see Tacitus s hope. Thrasea is a reoccurring... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While at first he is reticent about Thrasea s radicalism because of its ineffectiveness, he later retracts this judgment and calls Thrasea s careful actions against Nero virtuous. But, this alone does not immediately appear to point towards hope. While Thrasea may have been a virtuous character that stood up against Nero s tyranny, he does not survive. Just like so many before him, he is killed based upon Nero s grudge rather than any true Justice. How does this promote optimism? The answer lies not in Thrasea himself, but in his actions. The hope in Thrasea s case does not come only from his own story, but from the advice he gives to the youth around him as he is about to die. This advice provides a philosophy for enduring the hardships of Nero that deeply resonates at the end of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As the Renaissance faded away to a new period of the Enlightenment between the years 1603 and 1800 religious beliefs were pushed to the forefront once again. However, this was also the Age of Reason therefore the people of the day did not follow blindly, but wanted everything to be rationally proven. All the great conceptual discoveries of the human intellect seem obvious and inescapable once they had been revealed, but it requires a special genius to formulate them for the first time. The Jews had this gift. To them we owe the idea of equality before the law, both divine and human; of the sanctity of life and the dignity of human person; of the individual conscience and so a personal redemption; of collective conscience and so of social responsibility; of peace as an abstract ideal and love as the foundation of justice, and many other items which constitute the... The Modern Orthodox Jews have a significantly lower divorce rate as there are no conflicts that have to do with which religion to follow (Waxman, 2009). In the secular or less Orthodox world, children can be brought up following two religions or even no religion at all. If they are brought up with no religion, there is a very low chance that they will follow Judaism when they grow older. Also by following two religions they may become very confused and they may in turn cause them to choose one over the other. When even one child doesn t choose Judaism, the Jewish population suffers. It may not seem like a big issue when looking at one child but with a 72% intermarriage rate in non Orthodox America (Simple to remember, 2011) it can be a huge predicament. However some people believe that limiting intermarriage will harm the Jewish population by not letting people marry who they love. Going along this argument, if they do not date people of other religions in the first place, they can not fall in love with them. With Modern Orthodox Judaism, intermarriage is very rare which helps keep the Jewish people a nation with a growing population. • 34. How The Nervous System Processes Information And Work How the Nervous System Processes Information and Works Together with Muscles to Coordinate Movement and Behavior in Response to Gathered Information By: Margaret Shaughnessy With Group: Nathan Welch Bonnie Hileman Brianna McCann TA: Debbie Moore Section: 502 Introduction: Afferent neurons are sensory neurons that conduct signals toward the central nervous system (CNS) and are specialized in sensing heat, pressure, and chemicals (Saladin, 2011). These neurons send information about stimuli to the CNS and are located everywhere in the body but always end up in the brain and spinal cord (Saladin, 2011). Afferent neurons also send information about internal and external environmental factors to the CNS. (Sherwood, 2014). Efferent neurons lead to muscle cells, and send signals away from the CNS (Saladin, 2011). These neurons send signals to effectors like muscle and gland cells that carry out the function of the received response (Saladin, 2011). The cerebral cortex in the forebrain has special senses and general senses (Saladin, 2011). Some of these senses include smell, hearing, equilibrium, vision, touch, pressure, temperature, and pain. These all deal with sensory awareness and motor control. (Saladin, 2011). The spinal cord is located between the afferent and efferent fibers pf the peripheral nervous system (PNS) which serves two important roles (Sherwood, 2014). The hurricanes will destroy the human population main resources. This will lower people into having less important resources such as: food, shelter, and water. Having less resources could lead to poverty, which is known in developing countries such as: India, Philippines, and Haiti (Weeks 56). There are also changes in the oceans that are being affected. This change occurring could lead to the ocean over flooding due to contaminating the ocean caused by humans because humans have an impact on the environment. Humanity needs to cut down the production in the coal industry because people are burning the coal; this is causing the coal to pollute the air people breath. The effects of climate change is caused by deforestation, overpopulation, burning coal, and contaminated food production. The cutting of the trees is causing deforestation, the trees are a helpful resource in the environment. According to an article by Struck states, Experts say deforestation threatens a delicate balance in which forests act as Earth s lungs: absorbing carbon dioxide the biggest contributor to climate change and expelling oxygen (29). This effect causes more of the air to become contaminated by carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is a harmful gas that is released into the air. The trees help keep down the carbon dioxide in the air; this releases oxygen, so people can breathe clean air. As ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The United States Navy was in desperate need for victory, while the over confident Japanese military force was riding on the tails of previous success. The U.S. gained intelligence and surprised the unsuspecting Japanese fleet. The battle was swift and just, with Japan sustaining a significant loss of life. Their loss of artillery, equipment and supplies proved to be unsurmountable. These losses led to a major shift in momentum towards the United States. The Japanese confidence level plummeted, in both the soldiers and the public. The U.S. celebrated the victory and built on that energy. Japan was forced to refocus military plans. Strategic initiatives changed from the Pacific theater to other, less desirable locations. A desperate focus to rebuild from the human and material loss was attempted. Carrier defense was strategized. Despite these refocus attempts; Japan was unable to regain triumph, making the Battle at Midway the most pivotal event in World War II history.
