The Importance Of Clock Reaction
A clock reaction is where the fusion of various reagents, with relation to time, cause a colour
change in the solution. The end of the reaction rate is measured by the increase in the rate of
concentration. There are two factors which contribute to the rate of the reaction, induction and
inhibition. Induction is where the production rate of the clock chemical increases as the
increases as the concentration of the solution increases. Whereas, Inhibition is where the
chemical reacts with the clock chemical, increasing the concentration. The increase in the rate
can only occur if all of the inhibitor chemical is consumed within the reaction (S.J Preece, 1999).
Some examples of clock reactions are the arsenic (III) sulfide clock reaction, and Landolt iodine
clock oxidation of bisulphite by iodate. This specific reaction is stated to be one of the most
favourable clock reactions, showing a deep blue colour within a matter of seconds. This specific
reaction involves two colourless solutions that mix together after a certain amount of time it
yields a blue colour change. The chemical equilibrium is a formula used to describe the rate in
reverse reactions. Chemical Equilibria: Rate = k [A]^p [B]^q The rate law will also be used to
analyse the concentrations, and to determine whether the reaction is zero order, first order or a
second order reaction. Secondary data obtained from another investigation was rate = k[IO3] 1

Heart Failure is a Major Health Concern
Heart Failure: Heart failure is a serious medical condition that is brought by the failure of the heart
to pump sufficient blood throughout the body at the right pressure. Generally, this condition is a
progressive and chronic disease in which the heart muscle is incapable to pump adequate blood for
all blood and oxygen needs of the body. Since the heartcannot keep up with its workload under this
condition, it attempts to make up for the failure through enlarging, developing more musclemass,
and pumping faster. Enlarging involves stretching the heart chamber more in order to pump more
blood while developing more muscle mass occurs because of increase in size of the contracting cells
and pumping faster helps to enhance the heart s output ( About Heart Failure , n.d.). As a major
health problem, potential solutions for heart failure is a nursing focused plan that incorporates
identifying nursing goals, monitoring the patient, and specific nursing interventions.
Change Model Overview: One of the major approaches that can be used to address the problem of
heart failure is the change model introduced by Larrabee and Rosswurm. This model guides nurse
practitioners through a systematic procedure for the change to evidence based practice. This is
realized through the model s recognition that converting research into practice needs a solid
foundation in change theory, principles of use of research, and utilizing standardized arrangement.
Assessment of the Need for Change:

Diction In Birches
Have you ever smelt a certain scent or heard a certain song and it brought a specific memory or
feeling to you? The poem Birches is about Birch trees that the author, Robert Frost, connected to
his childhood. Frost wants the reader to see his vision of the birch trees. In order for Frost to
display his vision he uses elements of style. The reader is able to make the connection that the
author is making between the birchtrees and his childhood because of the way the poem is written.
Frost uses specific words for the reader to understand and imagine the scene in front of them. The
author presents a longing tone towards his childhood through the use of diction, imagery, and
language. The poet begins by using diction to reinforce the message

Comparing Clueless And Directed By Amy Heckerling
The film Clueless, written and directed by Amy Heckerling, is an adaptation of Jane Austen s
novel. The producers deliberately set out to make new trends for teenagers, even releasing a
Clueless inspired line of Barbie dolls, and these efforts were wildly successfully. The main
character, Cher is 15 going on 16 years old. She is a spoiled, socially successful, high class snob
who, after undergoing a crisis brought on by their own pride and repression of their feelings, are
transformed from callowness to mental and emotional maturity. Clueless is an interesting social
experiment. But, at the same time, the film is a satire on the very people it was marketed to.

Unspoken Tensions In Trial By Combat
In the storys Trial by Combat and Summer Ball there are parts where unspoken viewpoints
influence the tension within conversations. This is shown between Emily and Mrs. Allens
conversation and Danny s and his dads conversation. Both show how unspoken viewpoints can
create tension within the conversation. In the story Trial by Combat there is tension because
Emily knows that Mrs. Allens is taking her stuff. She is scared to confront her because she
knows that she did it. In Trial by Combat it says Emily had seen someone come out of her room
and go down the stairs, and recognized the visitor. This shows how she knows it was the person
who lives right under her and because all the keys fit the same lock it is possible for her to get into

President Woodrow Wilson s View Of Neutrality
America had no intention of entering WWI as President Woodrow Wilson had declared their
policy of neutrality in 1914 after the continent of Europe had erupted in conflict. President
Wilson aimed to deal with all participants in the war in a fair way that did not show signs of
allegiance to either side as he tried to help find a way towards peaceful resolution. Happenings in
Europe soon changed Wilson s view of neutrality. Many American lives had been lost at sea after
the sinking of the Lusitania and other ships due to Germany s unrestricted submarine attacks.
Germany refused to alter their methods which forced Wilson to ask Congress for a declaration of
war in 1917. At this time things were not going well for the Allied troops. Italy had suffered a
major defeat after the Battle of Caporetto when the Austrians captured 275,000 soldiers. This had
forced French and British troops forces to change their troops from the Western front to Italy in
order to help them. At the same time the French Army was experiencing mutiny and many feared
that she would collapse from within. In Russia there was a revolution as the Bolsheviks came to
power ousting and executing the Romanov royal family. The country s internal struggle pulled
them out of the war in 1917. The German submarine attacks on Britain were so powerful that many
people predicted Britain s collapse within months. America entered the war at a slow pace. First
after Wilson had sent General John Pershing to lead the American

History Of Marketing And The Marketing Strategy
The history of marketing can be traced back to the longest possible time probably further than you
thought. It will not be an exaggeration to say that it is as old as civilization itself. The probability
of success of any business lies in the marketing strategy it adopts. Simply put, if you are not
marketingyour business, you are in for a loss. While this concept remained unchanged, the ways of
marketing have changed several folds over the last few centuries.
1450 1700 Printed Advertisements Appears
The concept of marketing started many moons back, as far back as 1450! The first printed
advertising started with the invention of moveable type , which made mass printing possible for the
first time.

Fruits and vegetables were sold in the city square in the carts and wagons and their proprietors used
street callers (town criers) to announce their whereabouts for the convenience of the customers.
In the 18th century weekly advertisements began to be featured in newspapers in England. These
early print advertisements were mainly used to promote books, newspapers and research papers,
which became increasingly affordable with advances in the printing press; and medicines, which
were increasingly in demand as disease ravaged Europe.
1730 s Magazines Used as a Marketing Tool
One of the earliest examples of magazine is Erbauliche Monaths Unterredungen, a literary and
philosophy magazine, which was first published in 1663 in Germany. The Gentleman s Magazine
which was first published in 1731 in London, is considered as the first general interest magazine.
Edward Cave, who edited The Gentleman s Magazine under the pen name Sylvanus Urban , was
the first one to use the term magazine, which was derived from the Arabic makhazin (or,
storehouses). One of the oldest consumer magazines still in print is The Scots Magazine, which
was first published in 1739. But soon the concept of magazine as marketing tools lost its

Comparison Of Robert Gross s The Minutemen And Their World
The Minutemen and Their World by Robert Gross tells the story of the common man in Concord,
Massachusetts before and after April 19, 1775. The book offers a glimpse of the people s lives
during the colonial period, creating a context for the American Revolution through social history
and the settlers ordinary lives before the fateful shot heard around the world. Gross shows how the
town of Concord majorly changed; he depicts the life of the people to show the bigger picture of
the American Revolutionas it affected not only the lives of the militiamen and delegates, but the
ordinary townspeople as well. Gross argues that as the battle for independence began, it had a
significant impact on the Revolution as it transformed from a quiet country town into an important
revolutionary hub. Concord was like any other small town at the time before the Revolution; its
inhabitants were concerned with only the issues of their city as many lived simple lives in which
they farmed and took care of their families. The town was mostly populated by Puritan English
settlers and families, many of which became wealthy. Thus, the... Show more content on

Concord became a crucial location during the Revolution as many meetings were held in the town
such as ones about boycott planning as well as war preparations. Since it was a central location in
the countryside, many from neighboring towns were able to attend these important meetings. Due
to its geography, Concord became the place in which the government of Massachusetts chose to
store military supplies. The town was also a good strategic spot for battle as there were only two
roads where one could get into the town which made it easy to defend themselves. The militarized
town was ready for the day of April 9, 1775, when the American Revolution began. Concord thus

Essay about Assimilation and Accomodation in Every...
Assimilation and Accomodation in Every Interaction
The two processes that are involved in every interaction are assimilation and accommodation.
Assimilation means gaining some knowledge and making it fit in with what you already know.
This is a necessity in order to develop our cognitive structures. This is a process that everyone
encounters even though they may not be aware of when it is happening. Our perceptions of things
are enhanced when something of the outside world is assimilated or added into our internal world.
Accommodation is the changing of one s structure of thought. During this process, the gaining of
new knowledge fails to co exist with what we already know. Therefore, we must accommodate or

This is during the first stage of the sensori motor period. Assimilation is the most well known
activity during this stage, but accommodation is also brought into play. These two processes begin
during this first stage, but do not start to develop until later in the child s life and in a later period
in development.
During preoperational stage of cognitive development, as defined by Piaget, children begin to
assimilate as a way of adaptive behavior. They are at the age now where they can begin to really
take in new knowledge and new things. They are able to go back to their previous way of
thinking, but with some new information. The formation of stable concepts and beginnings of
mental reasoning are characteristics of this stage. The child begins to acquire new information and
assimilates this information to reach a level of stability. Children s thinking during this period is
illogical and they lack the ability to make connections between categories. An example of
assimilation would be a child being outside during the day and seeing the bright circle of light
coming from the sky and being told by their parent that it is the sun. One night the child is outside
and sees the bright circle of light coming from the sky and says it is the sun. The child associates
any bright circle of light coming from the sky the sun. The child has not yet distinguished between
the sun and the moon.
As this period shifts over to the next stage

The Invisible Man And The Giving Tree By Shell Silverstein
As important and necessary literature is for many things, such as introducing and connecting broad
thoughts, ideas, and topics to people, not all literature is suited for the masses. Most literature
contains hard to grasp concepts with underlying themes and ideas. Introduce formalism, the
formalist literary criticism acts as a way to simplify and convey the complex topics that are not
explained thoroughly in most literature. The Invisible Manby H.G. Wells, and The Giving Tree by
Shell Silverstein are two works of literature that convey important ideas that literature does,
without the complex layers most literature has. The Formalist or New literary criticism is
reflected in both of these books through their style, tone, and structure. The style in both novels is
simple first person and third person point of view. Though it may seem trivial, the point of view
helps the author effectively convey the message of their story without hidden messages, plots, and
themes to decipher. In The Invisible Man, Wells had to imagine how one might feel with no
physical appearance, full of shame for his experiments gone awry, and longing to regain what he
had and who he once was and put those thoughts and feelings into words. Shell Silverstein uses
dialogue between a boy and a tree to teach, and convey ideas of unconditional love, and selflessness
in The Giving Tree. Distinguishing between kinds of writing not according to their different forms
but according to their unequal

America in 1857 was quot;A Nation on the Brink quot; as defined by Kenneth Stampp in his book
with the same title. Relationships between the Northern and Southern states had been strained for

He had strong legal backing for this declaration; the Supreme Court of Missouri had freed many
slaves who had traveled with their masters in free states. In the Missouri Supreme Court s 1836
Rachel v. Walker ruling, it decided that Rachel, a slave taken to Fort Snelling and to Prairie du
Chien in Illinois, was free. By the early 1850s, however, sectional conflict had arisen again uglier
than ever, and most Missourians did not encourage the freeing of slaves. The Missouri Supreme
Court ruled against Scott in 1852. He then took his case out of the state judicial system and into the
federal judicial system by bringing it to the U.S. Circuit Court for the District of Missouri.
At this point in the case, Scott s possession had been transferred to John Sanford which changed
the case from Scott v. Emerson to Scot v. Sandford [different spelling due to a clerical error].
The case resumed in 1854 in the United States Circuit Court. Judge Robert W. Wells, quot;a
slaveholder who nevertheless regarded slavery as a barrier to progress, quot; presided over the
trial[2]. Though Scott was deemed to be a citizen, Sanford countered that even if Scott had gained
his freedom while residing in Illinois, he had regained his slave status upon returning to Missouri.
This defense proved successful and the jury decided in favor of Sanford.
The next step for Scott was to take his case to the highest tribunal in the country: the United States

The Wrong Enemy
Carlotta Gall s February 6 piece in the New York Times (NYT), titled Pakistan s Hand in the Rise
of International Jihad, is a journalistic marvel. It spotlights the dizzying creativity a human brain is
capable of when paired with a massive axe to grind. Unfortunately, for prose jammed with so many
accusations, Gall s piece is surprisingly light on substantive sources. Oh, but she makes up for this
foible by heaping dollops of self righteous Americentrism.
No surprises here. Gall, after all, penned The Wrong Enemy: America in Afghanistan 2001 2014, a
tome that must surely feature as essential reading for Pakistanophobes. In her book, Gall posits that
Washington s Afghan war strategy was flawed from the get go. After felling the Taliban
, US forces
should have kept marching east instead of invading Iraq. Why? Because without Pakistan s
patronage, neither they nor Al Qaeda could ever have bloomed in the region.
Okay, so I will not harp on about the Union Oil Company of California s (UNOCAL) Taliban

HP did many things correctly when addressing the challenges for disruptive change. For instance,
they organized a smaller team of hungry individuals from marketing, manufacturing, and research

startup business. The smaller group was motivated to establish itself and prove their product was
worthy of funding and upper management support. They also differentiated themselves by

I would still want to get the product to market quickly while having the versatility to make
changes on the fly. To find new markets I would expose the product to consumers through
experimental trials. This would expose the product to potential clients and consumers and allow
our development team to get feedback on consumer needs and wants as well as help us define
changes necessary to make the product more appealing and usable. Instead of propelling the
product forward based on profitability goals and measures, the idea would be to let the new and
emerging market help us define our product while our product defines the new market. For
example, when Seymour and White went to the electronics trade show in Chicago in search of their
market, both them and Nintendo stumbled upon each other. Seymour and White were introduced to
a market that they hadn t considered in gaming, and at the same time, Nintendo was introduced to a
want or need they had in game storage that they had not yet considered.
Another example of a company that has been successful in creating disruptive technology is Apple.
At around the same time that Nintendo was creating its place in the market, Sony came around
with a series of portable music devices such as the Walkman and the portable CD player. Soon
after, Apple introduced the Ipod which is more compact than either of Sony s products. The Ipod

A Consumer Love Affair
Advertisers have increasingly pushed the limits of cultural acceptance in a competition to arouse
the consumers attention. In the new H M commercial that aired for Super Bowl XLVIII, David
Beckham performs James Bond type maneuvers while wearing only his underwear. Clearly, this
commercial content attempts to appeal to visual, emotional, and primal desires. Sex and the need to
reproduce are intense desires that many advertisements use as a delivery platform for product sales.
Actors and advertisingmodels are depicted as objects of worship and often bear an unrealistic
aesthetic perfection, only achieved by spray brushing and graphic alterations. Advertising spotlights
the actor as the consumable product and equates happiness with purchases. Traditional values are
being replaced with morally questionable behavior. The commercial for H M showcases unrealistic
body images to promote products, through appeals to human sexual desire, thereby degrading the
value of intimacy. H M wants consumers to feel pleasure when purchasing from them. The men
will feel strong and attractive. The female consumers will associate H M clothing with an attractive
man. This is the sensation that John F. Schumaker points out in The Happiness Conspiracy: What
Does It Mean to Be Happy in a Modern Consumer Society, when he casts a critical eye on popular
culture s calibration of happiness and contends it mirrors the supreme value that consumer culture
attaches to the romancing

Canadian Magazine Case Study
The Levin Institute (2012) describes the Canadian magazine dispute as an attempt by the Canadian
government to protect its culture from the United States and other foreign contributors to
magazines. The Canadian government fueled this attempt by imposing extra tariffs, or taxes, on
foreign magazine producers. These actions focused highly on the source of content with minimal
attention towards the effects of the local culture. The restrictions imposed by the Canadian
government, to limit foreign magazines, exhibited a sole desire to limit foreign content. There were
no incentives put in place for magazines that supported the culture nor did the government take any
action to support the local culture itself. The Canadian government did not demonstrate an
understanding of the disconnection between content and culture. It is my opinion that their
motivation behind the steps taken emphasized their own ideals rather than protecting their culture.
With the misplaced motivation, the Canadian government s attempts to remove competition for
domestic magazines did not serve a valuable purpose. It is my belief that restricting content does
not serve to protect an underperforming publication. I believe the Canadian government was acting
to persuade the market by playing favorites with local... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

ownership do not hold much weight in classifying a magazine as domestic. A company can easily

method to classify the magazine. Likewise, Canadian ownership of a magazine does not serve to

Besides that, buyers can persuade sellers to reduce price again by immediate payment. At last,
after the price reduction of the seller for several times, there is almost little space to reduce it
continually, so it appeals to be better that both sides can seek the middle price between the range
so that no matter the buyer or the seller both are able to share the loss then achieve a win win
situation. As the seller, first of all if the buyer offer 7500 at the beginning, actually the upper
limit price he can accept is 8000, so the seller at this moment should take the strategy that the
scope of reduction should be smaller than last time, at fist the scope can be larger but then at the
latter reduction the scope should be much smaller like 8500 8200 8050 8000.In this way the
seller not only let the buyer realize it has already reached the limit but also every reduction will
cause huge loss to seller side. Therefore, the buyer will feel it seems to benefit from the seller.
Then, initiatively offer some alternatives such as the car cover to increase the whole value of the
used car, at the meantime, let the buyer know the seller side has made concessions. At last, the
seller should stick to the first price as far as possible, and make the comparison with the
configurations of this used car

Government Support In Higher Education
Once again what a timely discussion question: Tuesday, January 17, 2017, Betsy DeVos Education
Secretary Confirmation Hearing gave the country a look at how politics play a major role in higher
education. The background of government support for higher education and students can be dated
back to the 1944 G.I. Bill, the National Defense EducationAct of 1958, and the Higher Education
Act of 1965. According to the Student Aid Alliance (2013), the Higher Education Act of 1965

Kraft and Furlong (2013) suggest that one of the major arguments for supporting education
generally is the belief that it is the great equalizer within U.S. society (p. 369). There are
constantly two sides of a contention. Here in the United States, individuals trust that education is
the one of the best way to keep up developing nations. It s a known idea that advanced education
measures up to higher compensations and more open doors. In any case, the issue is that the
normal cost of advanced education is more than an individual can bear the cost of for a long time at
a state college. Along these lines, many believe that the government should offset the cost of
college (Sakamoto and Chapman, 2011). While there are others that trust that the legislature
shouldn t pay for school. Ziguras and McBurnie (2015) uncover that college educations are
discretionary and it takes a family and a group to make the correct circumstance for students to go
to college through various scholarship opportunities and student loans. The authors additionally
propose that unfortunate, students through a byproduct of human nature, the individuals who get a
free ride are likewise less inclined to esteem the education as opposed to working for it. Regardless
of the arguments, Kraft and Furlong (2013), express that although higher education costs and
funding provoke considerable debate, the value of a college

7 (Ziglar, Chronocentric: Beginner s Gudie to Major Watch Brands)Still based on our perceptual
map, we can see that Rolex has an average luxury level and degree of innovativeness. Rolex is a
competitor of Patek Philippe but Patek Philippe is not a competitor of Rolex. This is because
Rolex has a strong awareness and sometimes wealthy customers are more attracted to buying a
Rolex because they don t feel the need to buy watches as costly as Patek Philippe.
What is interesting in this market is that there are no clear leaders. Even though each company s
goal is to make the more profit as possible, we can t define any leader since they have different
strategies and objectives.8 [ (Tower) ] For example, Patek Philippe s core ideology is to have
the most prestigious brand and to make the most expensive watch as possible, and target the most
prestigious people which is a really niche market. In comparison, Rolex s purpose is to be a more
accessible luxury brand and make the most sales as possible. It is difficult to compare them in
terms of success, Rolex sells more but Patek has a much higher reputation.

The Glass Menagerie , a memory play by Tennessee Williams, not only depicts the depressing and

The Poor Need Pro Bono Legal Services Essay
Over the years, the practice of law has been left to the regime of a group of people commonly
referred to as lawyers. Though the term may vary from place to place or jurisdiction, the same
has a general meaning to refer to those who have studied law. Further it is left to the jurisdiction s
discretion to determine how they are to grant one the status of being a lawyer either through
education, certification amongst other means that different jurisdictions apply to afford such a
status. In the provision of their services, over the years, the lawyers have come to appreciate the
fact that some of their potential clients lack the capacity to pay for those services. This has led to
a rise of what is termed as pro bono services. These... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They argue that it is for this reason that not only should pro bono services be offered but law
firms should come up with direct rules on providing the same. In particular, Article 14(3)(d) of
the International Convention on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) is in its entirety advocates
for the provision of legal aid as well as provision of fair trial and access to justice. In light to the
realization of the ICCPR provisions, it is only proper for those advocating for pro bono services
to align the services to the conventions call to ensure there is a right to self defense with regards
to criminal cases as well as a right for one to choose their legal assistance. This could be deemed
to be the rationale behind the provision of pauper briefs too as well as state counsel in capital
offences. However, with reference to state counsels, there have been audible discomforts to the
fact that the same is under the discretion of the state and not the accused robbing them off the
right to choose their counsel. To this end, many of them end up with lawyers who are lowly
experienced unlike where they would be given the right to choose their own representatives. Such
activities have been known to go out of their way to the benefit of the society thus their supporters

After reviewing the Kudler Fine Food network, a major network overhaul will need to bring the
network up to par with the latest technology. If Kudler Fine Foods is not able to upgrade their
systems then they will fall behind the technological curve and will not be able to compete with
other companies. Kudler needs to do the upgrade not only to keep up with the advances with
network systems but needs to install the proper systems to increase profits. If Kudler does not
do constant upgrades then they will be forced to pay a larger amount for the larger upgrades in
the future. It is vital to install the proper systems that will have the longevity and the capability
for future network expansion without having to spend money on unnecessary upgrades.

Potassium Chloride And The Molecules Through Semipermeable...
Potassium Iodide Binds to Polysaccharide Molecules through Semipermeable Membrane
Introduction:
Diffusion is defined at the net movement of molecular substances from an area of high
concentration to an area of low concentration. Beyond that, diffusion can further be divided into
two different kinds of net movement of substance to opposing concentration gradients, dialysis and
osmosis. Dialysis is defined as the separation of small molecules from large molecules as they pass
through a semipermeable membrane (Koerner, 1992).
When talking about dialysis, it is most often associated with the function or failure of the kidneys
ability to process and rid the body of toxins from the blood. It would prove to be fatal if the
kidneys failed to remove the roughly 1,500 liters of waste building up in the body (Nordqvist,
2015). This experiment mimics the nature of a selective plasma membrane and with time, monitors
to passing of substances in and out of the barrier. The end results should appear to show a color
changing chemical reaction within the more concentrated tube of 15%glucose/1%starch solution.
Initially the clear and milky appearance should transform into a black and deep purple hue from the
attachment of iodine to the sugar solution. The experiment has been conducted previously yielding
various results. External factors affecting the rate of diffusion play a part in this experiment. Heat

The Importance Of Arts Integration
Arts Integration
The Arts are an important part of education. It allows students to express themselves and enriches
their learning experience. By integrating the arts into everyday education it makes school a place
students look forward to coming to. They can get excited about assignments and events that involve
the arts. Not only does the integration of arts fun for students but also but also helps meet the needs
of many learning styles.
A sense of community is formed among students when arts integration is involver. This is because
there are many opportunities for students to collaborate. While working together on projects,
students will encourage in intense social interaction (Crawford 2004).
Studies have found that when arts integration is implemented in the classroom, students are
affected positively academically and cognitively. Academic outcomes are the achievements students
make in the core academic subjects, including the arts. When literacy and language development
has drama integrated into the lessons, research has found that it helps students with reading and
writing by increasing and refining oral language skills and story understanding. The positive impact
of arts integrated instruction on literacy development is especially strong for English language
learners at the elementary and middle school levels (Anon 2017). Research has also found that
math skills are improved when connections between art study are drawn. Music and dance have

On A Rainy River Summary
In our society, we all long for a feeling of acceptance by our peers and we detest the feeling of
being left on the outside. The opinions of our peers have an impact our decisions. The short
story, On a Rainy River by Tim O brien elaborates the idea that the approval of our communities
is often put upon a higher pedestal than our own personal beliefs and values. This idea is
portrayed through the different pressures that the main character encountered: his family, his

The Death Of Common Sense, By Philip K. Howard
You will be surprised to learn that using simple common sense can take us a long way towards
happiness and thriving in life. But we also know that common sense is, sometimes the most
uncommon thing. Again, using common sense requires some thinking on our part and we forget or
refuse to do that because of ignorance, negligence or stubbornness.
I recently read a book called The Death of Common Sense, by Philip K. Howard. It is a book about
the system of governmental regulations and how it is suffocating America. The author argues that
although we have a democratic system in this country, the laws and statutes that we have created
are actually stifling people rather than making them grow.
Speaking of democracy, we Americans think that we have the greatest democracy in the world. I
think what we have is plutocracy, a political system influenced and run by wealthy in dividuals and
corporations. By its decision on Citizens United v. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As U.S. Senator, Elizabeth Warren correctly argues, today the game is rigged rigged to work for
those who have money and power.29
The Death of Common Sense provides many stories of how bureaucratic rigidity, ineffec tive
regulation, and overly complex procedures and rules have superseded good judgment and
common sense. For example, the book begins with the story of an abandoned building in New
York City that was sold to the Sisters of Mother Theresa for one dollar, to make it into a home less
shelter.
The code required that the building should have an elevator. It would cost the Sisters an extra
$100,000. The Sisters were willing to use the stairs; the homeless people wouldn t have really
cared whether there was an elevator, as long as they had a place to sleep. The irony is that it
would cost $100,000 for an elevator for a building that they paid one dollar for. The city wouldn t
budge. And the Sisters had to abandon the

and dry model in the corporate setting. This is a very efficient and productive way to guide
business. This model can, however, fall victim to the metaphor of the double edged sword.
Being so cut and dry tends to give you the appearance of a faceless corporation. In a revolution of

it? Dell was careful to diversify their product line; however they were not diversified in the

Housing Bubble
According to Wikipedia a housing bubble is a type of economic bubble that occurs periodically in
local or global real estate markets. It is characterized by rapid increases in valuations of real
property such as housing until they reach unsustainable levels and then decline. Four years into the
housing bubble downturn, much of the country remains hopelessly confused about what happened,
why it happened and who is to blame. In my research paper I will try and demonstrate what a
housing bubble is, some of the reasons for the bubble, was it preventable, how it kept growing, how
it burst and how it has affected our economy. By definition a housing bubble is a temporary
condition caused by unjustified speculation in the housing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Other scholars have emphasized the sharp deterioration in lending standards as contributing to the
rise in housing prices as well as the importance of changes to the mortgage market institutional
structure. Other explanations of the bubble have been demand side explanations, meaning that the
bubble was caused by excessive consumer demand for housing. One leading explanation argues
that the bubble was the result of irrational demand encouraged by a belief that housing prices could
only move upwards. Other research points to the fundamentals of housing markets, particularly
population growth, placing upward pressures on housing prices in markets with inelastic housing
supply, thereby explaining some of the geographic variation in the housing bubble. None of these
explanations, however, is capable of fully explaining the housing bubble. From 1997 to 2006
nominal U.S. housing prices rose 188%. By mid 2009, however, housing prices had fallen by 33%
from peak. As the United States attempts to rebuild its housing п¬Ѓnance system, it is of
paramount importance to understand what caused the housing bubble. Until we understand how
and why the housing bubble occurred, we cannot be certain that a reconstructed housing п¬Ѓnance
system will not again produce such a devastating bubble. As you can see there are numerous
theories and explanations for the bubble. Without getting too deep

The Substantially Likely Factor
The government has failed to demonstrate that the forced medication of Mr. Whitman against his

defendants who are initially too ill to stand trial, the Supreme Court implemented the four pronged
Sell Test. Per the holding of Sell, in order to physically subdue and forcibly medicate a sick
defendant who has not consented to treatment, the government must demonstrate by presenting
clear and convincing evidence, that such treatment is substantially likely to make the sick
defendant well enough to stand trial. See Sell v. United States, 539 U.S. 166, 180, 123 S. Ct.(2003).

The court held that the expert medical witness testimony regarding the Herbel Study, his own

This is an easy and effective way to create electricity and can be used reliably without much
cause for concern. As seen in the diagram above the reactor in a nuclear facility is located inside
of a building. That building is created from reinforced cement and is made to hold the fuel in case
of an emergency.
The opponents of nuclear power claim that nuclear power is not safe and it puts the general
population at risk of radiation. They point towards the Chernobyl accident as reason that nuclear
power should not be allowed. The Chernobyl accident happened in 1986 in the Ukraine and was
devastating (Chernobyl). The accident occurred during a test and By the time that the operator
moved to shut down the reactor, the reactor was in an extremely unstable condition (Chernobyl).
The result was the explosion of the reactor and the release of radioactive material into the
environment. Yet another example opponents point to would be the Three Mile Island nuclear
power plant failure. At the plant equipment malfunctions, design related problems and worker
errors led to a partial meltdown of the TMI 2 reactor core (backgrounder). This accident was the
worst in the United States and caused a review of nuclear power plants safety.

accident like Three Mile Island or Chernobyl. Greenpeace has said that the use of nuclear power

The Effect Of Starch And Plain Carboxymethyl Cellulose (...
Flucloxacillin is extensively used in the treatment of various infections caused by susceptible
organisms. It breaks down easily in the presence of moisture and the breakdown products are
responsible for the hypersensitivity reactions in susceptible individuals. This study sought to
investigate the effect of starch and plain carboxymethyl cellulose(CMC) on flucloxacillin stability,
determine the rate of reaction for the decomposition of flucloxacillin in the presence of starch
and plain CMC and finally to determine the amount of starch and plain CMC that retards/slows
down the decomposition of flucloxacillin: Fixed amounts of flucloxacillin sodium (250mg) were
mixed with varying amounts of dried starch and dried plain carboxymethyl cellulose (plain
CMC). The formulations were put in airtight containers and kept at room temperature
(25В±2В°C) for two and half months. Iodimetry was used to monitor the amounts of
flucloxacillin in the formulations over the stated period. The formulations with the dried plain
CMC were more stable than formulations with dried starch. The percentage flucloxacillin
breakdown for the dried starch formulations were 28.47, 24.67, 27.32 and 25.20% respectively for
75, 125, 150 and 250 mg of dried starch respectively. The percentage flucloxacillin breakdown for

Here s where the term Progressive Christian becomes a little shaky. It s a safe label for Christians
who aren t willing to give up their faith or explore new faiths, but who also want to appear tolerant
and intellectually enlightened. In a way, Progressive Christianity allows people to choose what they
want to believe in the Bible, and to be evasive when it comes down to what the Bible actually says.
For example: trying to defend the Bible s stance on homosexuality. Yes, it s true that Jesus did not
condemn it. Yes, only six verses explicitly mentioning same sex relations. However, there s no
getting around the fact that the Bible calls it an abomination, just as there s no getting around Paul
telling wives they need to be submissive to their husbands. Or trying to undermine a giant flood
logged as a historical event. It s just what the Bible says. Analyze it, pick it apart, review the
various translations and iterations, but face it: a lot of what the Bible says is just plain outdated or
scientifically incorrect, and we know

The Importance Of Protein Degradation
The authors goal in conducting this experiment was to establish a link between, among other
things, protein degradation through the ubiquitin protease system (UPS) and the consolidation and
reconsolidation of long term fear memories. This research was necessary because, while research
had been done linking proteindegradation to synaptic plasticity, no study had been performed to
analyze the role of UPS in the amygdala, where long term fear memories are believed to be stored.
Additionally, prior research had led to conflicting reports of the importance of protein degradation
in consolidation as opposed to reconsolidation, which the authors intended to clarify. To obtain the
desired information, researchers tested male Long Evans rats ... Show more content on

Most research findings confirmed what prior research indicated protein degradation and synthesis
are essential in memory formation and memory formation relies on NMDA. However, the research
indicated differences between the memory processes used by the hippocampus and amygdala in
that prior researchers had found little evidence that protein degradation was a necessary part of the
consolidation of memories in hippocampus. This led researchers to conclude that the amygdala and
hippocampus may be more similar with regard to reconsolidation of memories than consolidation of
memories.
Analysis:
Prior to reading the article, I had very little understanding of the importance of proteins in memory
functions. I believed them to be most important with regard to enzymatic functioning and structural
composition. However, the article indicates how incredibly important the minutiae of protein
function are to a properly functioning memory. Based on protein function, researchers were able to
control if and how much the rats were able to remember. The data do seem to support the authors
conclusions. Protein degradation was measured by the presence of ubiquitin, which was a fairly
accurate measurement tool. In addition, the researchers used an abundance of controlled groups in
order to isolate the desired variable the combination of shock and auditory cue. Conclusions about
the presence of elevated protein degradation are supported by the collected data from the

  • 2. The Importance Of Clock Reaction A clock reaction is where the fusion of various reagents, with relation to time, cause a colour change in the solution. The end of the reaction rate is measured by the increase in the rate of concentration. There are two factors which contribute to the rate of the reaction, induction and inhibition. Induction is where the production rate of the clock chemical increases as the increases as the concentration of the solution increases. Whereas, Inhibition is where the chemical reacts with the clock chemical, increasing the concentration. The increase in the rate can only occur if all of the inhibitor chemical is consumed within the reaction (S.J Preece, 1999). Some examples of clock reactions are the arsenic (III) sulfide clock reaction, and Landolt iodine clock oxidation of bisulphite by iodate. This specific reaction is stated to be one of the most favourable clock reactions, showing a deep blue colour within a matter of seconds. This specific reaction involves two colourless solutions that mix together after a certain amount of time it yields a blue colour change. The chemical equilibrium is a formula used to describe the rate in reverse reactions. Chemical Equilibria: Rate = k [A]^p [B]^q The rate law will also be used to analyse the concentrations, and to determine whether the reaction is zero order, first order or a second order reaction. Secondary data obtained from another investigation was rate = k[IO3] 1 (Lyle, Department of Chemistry). A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Heart Failure is a Major Health Concern Heart Failure: Heart failure is a serious medical condition that is brought by the failure of the heart to pump sufficient blood throughout the body at the right pressure. Generally, this condition is a progressive and chronic disease in which the heart muscle is incapable to pump adequate blood for all blood and oxygen needs of the body. Since the heartcannot keep up with its workload under this condition, it attempts to make up for the failure through enlarging, developing more musclemass, and pumping faster. Enlarging involves stretching the heart chamber more in order to pump more blood while developing more muscle mass occurs because of increase in size of the contracting cells and pumping faster helps to enhance the heart s output ( About Heart Failure , n.d.). As a major health problem, potential solutions for heart failure is a nursing focused plan that incorporates identifying nursing goals, monitoring the patient, and specific nursing interventions. Change Model Overview: One of the major approaches that can be used to address the problem of heart failure is the change model introduced by Larrabee and Rosswurm. This model guides nurse practitioners through a systematic procedure for the change to evidence based practice. This is realized through the model s recognition that converting research into practice needs a solid foundation in change theory, principles of use of research, and utilizing standardized arrangement. The poem Birches is about Birch trees that the author, Robert Frost, connected to his childhood. Frost wants the reader to see his vision of the birch trees. In order for Frost to display his vision he uses elements of style. The reader is able to make the connection that the author is making between the birchtrees and his childhood because of the way the poem is written. Frost uses specific words for the reader to understand and imagine the scene in front of them. The author presents a longing tone towards his childhood through the use of diction, imagery, and language. The poet begins by using diction to reinforce the message ... The producers deliberately set out to make new trends for teenagers, even releasing a Clueless inspired line of Barbie dolls, and these efforts were wildly successfully. The main character, Cher is 15 going on 16 years old. She is a spoiled, socially successful, high class snob who, after undergoing a crisis brought on by their own pride and repression of their feelings, are transformed from callowness to mental and emotional maturity. • 7. President Woodrow Wilson s View Of Neutrality America had no intention of entering WWI as President Woodrow Wilson had declared their policy of neutrality in 1914 after the continent of Europe had erupted in conflict. President Wilson aimed to deal with all participants in the war in a fair way that did not show signs of allegiance to either side as he tried to help find a way towards peaceful resolution. Happenings in Europe soon changed Wilson s view of neutrality. Many American lives had been lost at sea after the sinking of the Lusitania and other ships due to Germany s unrestricted submarine attacks. Germany refused to alter their methods which forced Wilson to ask Congress for a declaration of war in 1917. At this time things were not going well for the Allied troops. Italy had suffered a major defeat after the Battle of Caporetto when the Austrians captured 275,000 soldiers. This had forced French and British troops forces to change their troops from the Western front to Italy in order to help them. At the same time the French Army was experiencing mutiny and many feared that she would collapse from within. In Russia there was a revolution as the Bolsheviks came to power ousting and executing the Romanov royal family. The country s internal struggle pulled them out of the war in 1917. The German submarine attacks on Britain were so powerful that many people predicted Britain s collapse within months. America entered the war at a slow pace. It will not be an exaggeration to say that it is as old as civilization itself. The probability of success of any business lies in the marketing strategy it adopts. While this concept remained unchanged, the ways of marketing have changed several folds over the last few centuries. 1450 1700 Printed Advertisements Appears The concept of marketing started many moons back, as far back as 1450! Comparison Of Robert Gross s The Minutemen And Their World The Minutemen and Their World by Robert Gross tells the story of the common man in Concord, Massachusetts before and after April 19, 1775. The book offers a glimpse of the people s lives during the colonial period, creating a context for the American Revolution through social history and the settlers ordinary lives before the fateful shot heard around the world. Gross shows how the town of Concord majorly changed; he depicts the life of the people to show the bigger picture of the American Revolutionas it affected not only the lives of the militiamen and delegates, but the ordinary townspeople as well. Gross argues that as the battle for independence began, it had a significant impact on the Revolution as it transformed from a quiet country town into an important revolutionary hub. Concord was like any other small town at the time before the Revolution; its inhabitants were concerned with only the issues of their city as many lived simple lives in which they farmed and took care of their families. The town was mostly populated by Puritan English settlers and families, many of which became wealthy. Thus, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The town was also a good strategic spot for battle as there were only two roads where one could get into the town which made it easy to defend themselves. • 10. Essay about Assimilation and Accomodation in Every... Assimilation and Accomodation in Every Interaction The two processes that are involved in every interaction are assimilation and accommodation. Assimilation means gaining some knowledge and making it fit in with what you already know. This is a necessity in order to develop our cognitive structures. This is a process that everyone encounters even though they may not be aware of when it is happening. Our perceptions of things are enhanced when something of the outside world is assimilated or added into our internal world. Accommodation is the changing of one s structure of thought. This is during the first stage of the sensori motor period. Assimilation is the most well known activity during this stage, but accommodation is also brought into play. These two processes begin during this first stage, but do not start to develop until later in the child s life and in a later period in development. During preoperational stage of cognitive development, as defined by Piaget, children begin to assimilate as a way of adaptive behavior. They are at the age now where they can begin to really take in new knowledge and new things. They are able to go back to their previous way of thinking, but with some new information. The formation of stable concepts and beginnings of mental reasoning are characteristics of this stage. The child begins to acquire new information and assimilates this information to reach a level of stability. Children s thinking during this period is illogical and they lack the ability to make connections between categories. An example of assimilation would be a child being outside during the day and seeing the bright circle of light coming from the sky and being told by their parent that it is the sun. One night the child is outside and sees the bright circle of light coming from the sky and says it is the sun. The child associates any bright circle of light coming from the sky the sun. Most literature contains hard to grasp concepts with underlying themes and ideas. Introduce formalism, the formalist literary criticism acts as a way to simplify and convey the complex topics that are not explained thoroughly in most literature. The Invisible Manby H.G. Wells, and The Giving Tree by Shell Silverstein are two works of literature that convey important ideas that literature does, without the complex layers most literature has. The Formalist or New literary criticism is reflected in both of these books through their style, tone, and structure. The style in both novels is simple first person and third person point of view. Though it may seem trivial, the point of view helps the author effectively convey the message of their story without hidden messages, plots, and themes to decipher. In The Invisible Man, Wells had to imagine how one might feel with no physical appearance, full of shame for his experiments gone awry, and longing to regain what he had and who he once was and put those thoughts and feelings into words. Shell Silverstein uses dialogue between a boy and a tree to teach, and convey ideas of unconditional love, and selflessness in The Giving Tree. He had strong legal backing for this declaration; the Supreme Court of Missouri had freed many slaves who had traveled with their masters in free states. In the Missouri Supreme Court s 1836 Rachel v. Walker ruling, it decided that Rachel, a slave taken to Fort Snelling and to Prairie du Chien in Illinois, was free. By the early 1850s, however, sectional conflict had arisen again uglier than ever, and most Missourians did not encourage the freeing of slaves. The Missouri Supreme Court ruled against Scott in 1852. He then took his case out of the state judicial system and into the federal judicial system by bringing it to the U.S. Circuit Court for the District of Missouri. At this point in the case, Scott s possession had been transferred to John Sanford which changed the case from Scott v. Emerson to Scot v. Sandford [different spelling due to a clerical error]. The case resumed in 1854 in the United States Circuit Court. Judge Robert W. Wells, quot;a slaveholder who nevertheless regarded slavery as a barrier to progress, quot; presided over the trial[2]. Though Scott was deemed to be a citizen, Sanford countered that even if Scott had gained his freedom while residing in Illinois, he had regained his slave status upon returning to Missouri. This defense proved successful and the jury decided in favor of Sanford. The next step for Scott was to take his case to the highest tribunal in the country: the United States ... It spotlights the dizzying creativity a human brain is capable of when paired with a massive axe to grind. Unfortunately, for prose jammed with so many accusations, Gall s piece is surprisingly light on substantive sources. Oh, but she makes up for this foible by heaping dollops of self righteous Americentrism. No surprises here. Gall, after all, penned The Wrong Enemy: America in Afghanistan 2001 2014, a tome that must surely feature as essential reading for Pakistanophobes. In her book, Gall posits that Washington s Afghan war strategy was flawed from the get go. After felling the Taliban , US forces should have kept marching east instead of invading Iraq. Why? Because without Pakistan s patronage, neither they nor Al Qaeda could ever have bloomed in the region. Okay, so I will not harp on about the Union Oil Company of California s (UNOCAL) Taliban connection, immortalized incidentally in an article titled Oil Barons court Taliban in Texas from British daily the Telegraph s 1997 archives. • 17. A Consumer Love Affair Advertisers have increasingly pushed the limits of cultural acceptance in a competition to arouse the consumers attention. In the new H M commercial that aired for Super Bowl XLVIII, David Beckham performs James Bond type maneuvers while wearing only his underwear. Clearly, this commercial content attempts to appeal to visual, emotional, and primal desires. Sex and the need to reproduce are intense desires that many advertisements use as a delivery platform for product sales. Actors and advertisingmodels are depicted as objects of worship and often bear an unrealistic aesthetic perfection, only achieved by spray brushing and graphic alterations. Advertising spotlights the actor as the consumable product and equates happiness with purchases. Traditional values are being replaced with morally questionable behavior. The commercial for H M showcases unrealistic body images to promote products, through appeals to human sexual desire, thereby degrading the value of intimacy. H M wants consumers to feel pleasure when purchasing from them. The men will feel strong and attractive. The female consumers will associate H M clothing with an attractive man. This is the sensation that John F. Canadian Magazine Case Study The Levin Institute (2012) describes the Canadian magazine dispute as an attempt by the Canadian government to protect its culture from the United States and other foreign contributors to magazines. The Canadian government fueled this attempt by imposing extra tariffs, or taxes, on foreign magazine producers. These actions focused highly on the source of content with minimal attention towards the effects of the local culture. The restrictions imposed by the Canadian government, to limit foreign magazines, exhibited a sole desire to limit foreign content. There were no incentives put in place for magazines that supported the culture nor did the government take any action to support the local culture itself. The Canadian government did not demonstrate an understanding of the disconnection between content and culture. It is my opinion that their motivation behind the steps taken emphasized their own ideals rather than protecting their culture. With the misplaced motivation, the Canadian government s attempts to remove competition for domestic magazines did not serve a valuable purpose. Government Support In Higher Education Once again what a timely discussion question: Tuesday, January 17, 2017, Betsy DeVos Education Secretary Confirmation Hearing gave the country a look at how politics play a major role in higher education. The background of government support for higher education and students can be dated back to the 1944 G.I. Bill, the National Defense EducationAct of 1958, and the Higher Education Act of 1965. According to the Student Aid Alliance (2013), the Higher Education Act of 1965 formed the basis for the current federal student aid system, embodied the principle that all qualified students should be able to attend college, regardless of their financial means . Kraft and Furlong (2013) suggest that one of the major arguments for supporting education generally is the belief that it is the great equalizer within U.S. society (p. 369). There are constantly two sides of a contention. Here in the United States, individuals trust that education is the one of the best way to keep up developing nations. It s a known idea that advanced education measures up to higher compensations and more open doors. In any case, the issue is that the normal cost of advanced education is more than an individual can bear the cost of for a long time at a state college. Along these lines, many believe that the government should offset the cost of college (Sakamoto and Chapman, 2011). While there are others that trust that the legislature shouldn t pay for school. Ziguras and McBurnie (2015) uncover that college educations are discretionary and it takes a family and a group to make the correct circumstance for students to go to college through various scholarship opportunities and student loans. The authors additionally propose that unfortunate, students through a byproduct of human nature, the individuals who get a free ride are likewise less inclined to esteem the education as opposed to working for it. Potassium Iodide Binds to Polysaccharide Molecules through Semipermeable Membrane Introduction: Diffusion is defined at the net movement of molecular substances from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration. Beyond that, diffusion can further be divided into two different kinds of net movement of substance to opposing concentration gradients, dialysis and osmosis. Dialysis is defined as the separation of small molecules from large molecules as they pass through a semipermeable membrane (Koerner, 1992). When talking about dialysis, it is most often associated with the function or failure of the kidneys ability to process and rid the body of toxins from the blood. It would prove to be fatal if the kidneys failed to remove the roughly 1,500 liters of waste building up in the body (Nordqvist, 2015). • 35. The Death Of Common Sense, By Philip K. Howard You will be surprised to learn that using simple common sense can take us a long way towards happiness and thriving in life. But we also know that common sense is, sometimes the most uncommon thing. Again, using common sense requires some thinking on our part and we forget or refuse to do that because of ignorance, negligence or stubbornness. I recently read a book called The Death of Common Sense, by Philip K. Howard. It is a book about the system of governmental regulations and how it is suffocating America. The author argues that although we have a democratic system in this country, the laws and statutes that we have created are actually stifling people rather than making them grow. Speaking of democracy, we Americans think that we have the greatest democracy in the world. I think what we have is plutocracy, a political system influenced and run by wealthy in dividuals and corporations. By its decision on Citizens United v. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As U.S. Senator, Elizabeth Warren correctly argues, today the game is rigged rigged to work for those who have money and power.29 The Death of Common Sense provides many stories of how bureaucratic rigidity, ineffec tive regulation, and overly complex procedures and rules have superseded good judgment and common sense. For example, the book begins with the story of an abandoned building in New York City that was sold to the Sisters of Mother Theresa for one dollar, to make it into a home less shelter. The code required that the building should have an elevator. It would cost the Sisters an extra $100,000. The Sisters were willing to use the stairs; the homeless people wouldn t have really cared whether there was an elevator, as long as they had a place to sleep. The irony is that it would cost $100,000 for an elevator for a building that they paid one dollar for. The city wouldn t budge. And the Sisters had to abandon the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

John Updike s A P In the short story A P by John Updike, we are witnesses to a young man named Sammy and his encounter with three girls in nothing but bathing suits as well as the general manager of the store, Lengel, who Sammy describes as a pretty dreary, observant Sunday school teacher. At first glance, the short storyseems to be just that, but when taking a closer look, we can see that throughout the story Updike expresses two different themes: desire and the power it wields and the mystery of other minds. But what does Updike hope to convey to us, the readers, with these themes? As soon as Queenie , Plaid , and Big Tall Goony Goony walk into the A P they demonstrate their power of sexuality over all of the men in the store, attracting each and every eye in the building. Matching Dell Matching Dell BA 4700 October 12th, 2010 Bing Bai Zexin Li Ian Ruehle Erin Strack Chun Zhang Introduction The Dell Computer Corporation was founded in 1984 by Michael Dell, who began the company by refurbishing IBM clones out of his dorm room for extra money. From the beginning and through the 1990 s, the company grew quickly and was very successful. Dell used a cost leadership strategy and focus on creating products that were already in the market place, but changed the timing of production and the method of distribution that was in place with the company s competitors by assembling computers to order and selling directly to the customers. The company focused on creating value for customers and meeting their needs, but into the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They also produced lines of servers and workstations. STEP Analysis Social and Cultural There has been a drastic move in cultural perspective since the new millennium. The gogreen culture has become a dominating force. The metro movement moves in a parallel to this as well. The majority rule now appears to be a young, urban, environmentally conscious, culturally sensitive populace. Dell had a primary focus on keeping a fact based relationship with their clients. The case clarifies that this allowed them to treat their clients fairly. They even kept a very clean cut and dry model in the corporate setting. This is a very efficient and productive way to guide business. This model can, however, fall victim to the metaphor of the double edged sword. Being so cut and dry tends to give you the appearance of a faceless corporation. In a revolution of go green and corporate compassion, the face your corporation wears is its lifeblood. Dell had no focus on retail stores. They knew that the profits were coming from the larger customers. As mentioned in the case it is hard to increase the awareness of the product when it is not often seen in the retail world. How is the general public to view your corporate face if they are unable to see it? Dell was careful to diversify their product line; however they were not diversified in the distribution of the products. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Housing Bubble According to Wikipedia a housing bubble is a type of economic bubble that occurs periodically in local or global real estate markets. It is characterized by rapid increases in valuations of real property such as housing until they reach unsustainable levels and then decline. Four years into the housing bubble downturn, much of the country remains hopelessly confused about what happened, why it happened and who is to blame. In my research paper I will try and demonstrate what a housing bubble is, some of the reasons for the bubble, was it preventable, how it kept growing, how it burst and how it has affected our economy. By definition a housing bubble is a temporary condition caused by unjustified speculation in the housing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Other scholars have emphasized the sharp deterioration in lending standards as contributing to the rise in housing prices as well as the importance of changes to the mortgage market institutional structure. Other explanations of the bubble have been demand side explanations, meaning that the bubble was caused by excessive consumer demand for housing. One leading explanation argues that the bubble was the result of irrational demand encouraged by a belief that housing prices could only move upwards. Other research points to the fundamentals of housing markets, particularly population growth, placing upward pressures on housing prices in markets with inelastic housing supply, thereby explaining some of the geographic variation in the housing bubble. None of these explanations, however, is capable of fully explaining the housing bubble. From 1997 to 2006 nominal U.S. housing prices rose 188%. By mid 2009, however, housing prices had fallen by 33% from peak. As the United States attempts to rebuild its housing п¬Ѓnance system, it is of paramount importance to understand what caused the housing bubble. Until we understand how and why the housing bubble occurred, we cannot be certain that a reconstructed housing п¬Ѓnance system will not again produce such a devastating bubble. As you can see there are numerous theories and explanations for the bubble. Without getting too deep ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Substantially Likely Factor Essay The Substantially Likely Factor The government has failed to demonstrate that the forced medication of Mr. Whitman against his will, is substantially likely to render him competent to stand trial. To protect the liberty interests of defendants who are initially too ill to stand trial, the Supreme Court implemented the four pronged Sell Test. Per the holding of Sell, in order to physically subdue and forcibly medicate a sick defendant who has not consented to treatment, the government must demonstrate by presenting clear and convincing evidence, that such treatment is substantially likely to make the sick defendant well enough to stand trial. See Sell v. United States, 539 U.S. 166, 180, 123 S. Ct.(2003). The government must demonstrate that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similarly, the court faulted the government s reliance on the personal experiences of the witness because the information provided regarding his patients was not specific enough to the defendant s situation. There many different ways that electricity can be produced but some of the options are better suited for the Central Valley than others. The debate over Nuclear power has been growing for years and it is now time to create a more reliable power source for the Central Valley. Nuclear powershould be considered to be a reliable source of power for the central valleys growing population. Nuclear power has been around for many decades and has provided reliable power to the American people. The first reactor that was used to provide electricity was on December 20 1951(US). This is an easy and effective way to create electricity and can be used reliably without much cause for concern. As seen in the diagram above the reactor in a nuclear facility is located inside of a building. That building is created from reinforced cement and is made to hold the fuel in case of an emergency. The opponents of nuclear power claim that nuclear power is not safe and it puts the general population at risk of radiation. They point towards the Chernobyl accident as reason that nuclear power should not be allowed. The Chernobyl accident happened in 1986 in the Ukraine and was devastating (Chernobyl). The accident occurred during a test and By the time that the operator moved to shut down the reactor, the reactor was in an extremely unstable condition (Chernobyl). The result was the explosion of the reactor and the release of radioactive material into the environment. Yet another example opponents point to would be the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant failure. At the plant equipment malfunctions, design related problems and worker errors led to a partial meltdown of the TMI 2 reactor core (backgrounder). This accident was the worst in the United States and caused a review of nuclear power plants safety. Opponents argue that another accident will happen and they do not want to go through another accident like Three Mile Island or Chernobyl. • 41. The Effect Of Starch And Plain Carboxymethyl Cellulose (... Flucloxacillin is extensively used in the treatment of various infections caused by susceptible organisms. It breaks down easily in the presence of moisture and the breakdown products are responsible for the hypersensitivity reactions in susceptible individuals. This study sought to investigate the effect of starch and plain carboxymethyl cellulose(CMC) on flucloxacillin stability, determine the rate of reaction for the decomposition of flucloxacillin in the presence of starch and plain CMC and finally to determine the amount of starch and plain CMC that retards/slows down the decomposition of flucloxacillin: Fixed amounts of flucloxacillin sodium (250mg) were mixed with varying amounts of dried starch and dried plain carboxymethyl cellulose (plain CMC). The formulations were put in airtight containers and kept at room temperature (25В±2В°C) for two and half months. Iodimetry was used to monitor the amounts of flucloxacillin in the formulations over the stated period. The formulations with the dried plain CMC were more stable than formulations with dried starch. The percentage flucloxacillin breakdown for the dried starch formulations were 28.47, 24.67, 27.32 and 25.20% respectively for 75, 125, 150 and 250 mg of dried starch respectively. The percentage flucloxacillin breakdown for the dried plain CMC formulations were 27.40, 22.63, 23.07 and 20.57% respectively for 75, 125, 150 and 250 mg of the dried plain CMC The breakdown process followed first order kinetics. Here s where the term Progressive Christian becomes a little shaky. It s a safe label for Christians who aren t willing to give up their faith or explore new faiths, but who also want to appear tolerant and intellectually enlightened. In a way, Progressive Christianity allows people to choose what they want to believe in the Bible, and to be evasive when it comes down to what the Bible actually says. For example: trying to defend the Bible s stance on homosexuality. Yes, it s true that Jesus did not condemn it. Yes, only six verses explicitly mentioning same sex relations. However, there s no getting around the fact that the Bible calls it an abomination, just as there s no getting around Paul telling wives they need to be submissive to their husbands. Or trying to undermine a giant flood logged as a historical event. It s just what the Bible says. • 43. The Importance Of Protein Degradation The authors goal in conducting this experiment was to establish a link between, among other things, protein degradation through the ubiquitin protease system (UPS) and the consolidation and reconsolidation of long term fear memories. This research was necessary because, while research had been done linking proteindegradation to synaptic plasticity, no study had been performed to analyze the role of UPS in the amygdala, where long term fear memories are believed to be stored. Additionally, prior research had led to conflicting reports of the importance of protein degradation in consolidation as opposed to reconsolidation, which the authors intended to clarify. To obtain the desired information, researchers tested male Long Evans rats ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most research findings confirmed what prior research indicated protein degradation and synthesis are essential in memory formation and memory formation relies on NMDA. However, the research indicated differences between the memory processes used by the hippocampus and amygdala in that prior researchers had found little evidence that protein degradation was a necessary part of the consolidation of memories in hippocampus. This led researchers to conclude that the amygdala and hippocampus may be more similar with regard to reconsolidation of memories than consolidation of memories. Analysis: Prior to reading the article, I had very little understanding of the importance of proteins in memory functions. I believed them to be most important with regard to enzymatic functioning and structural composition. However, the article indicates how incredibly important the minutiae of protein function are to a properly functioning memory. Based on protein function, researchers were able to control if and how much the rats were able to remember. The data do seem to support the authors conclusions. Protein degradation was measured by the presence of ubiquitin, which was a fairly accurate measurement tool. In addition, the researchers used an abundance of controlled groups in order to isolate the desired variable the combination of shock and auditory cue. Conclusions about the presence of elevated protein degradation are supported by the collected data from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
