Apps for Office introduces a new programming model that is so flexible, you may not believe it unless you see it with your own eyes. You might say it is dangerously simple to enhance the functionality of Office. Apps for Office allow you to enhance the user experience for Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project and Word, most likely using your existing skills.
Starting with a brief discussion surrounding the road-map for the various types of Office apps, this talk will focus primarily on Mail apps and how you can use them to provide very valuable enhancements to the message and appointment (reading and composing) experiences.
You will learn about what if takes to develop a Mail app (a real app, currently under development will be shown), what the infrastructure looks like to deploy a mail app, what the licensing process looks like and how easy they are to monetize.
After the discussion, you will likely be beaming with ideas and be rushing home to begin building your very own App for Office.

So SharePoint won our hearts and our data is now all over its nested sites, lists and folders. Our user base has gradually grown. Permissions have been created and deleted and inheritance broken by us and others. The permission landscape is patchy, neglected and little understood. Our data security is sitting on thin ice.
With all the recent news about data breaches and information leakage outside the corporate firewalls, as IT administrators and security professionals, it is our job to understand
What our users in SharePoint have access to
What areas of our SharePoint site are more sensitive than others. Where are the unique permissions?
What permissions have been misassigned.
What permissions have others been assigning? Are we ok with them?
Ultimately we try to answer the question: Do users have access to content they are not supposed to have access to?
Join me in this Webinar to explore and tackle how we ought to audit SharePoint permissions and come up with a coherent ongoing strategy to safeguard your company's data.

There are also frequent patterns that can cause unnecessary cost, like using a person document instead of a mail-in for shared mailboxes. We’ll provide examples and solutions for those as well. And naturally we’ll explain the new licensing model.
Join HCL Ambassador Marc Thomas in this webinar with a special guest appearance from Franz Walder. It will give you the tools and know-how to stay on top of what is going on with Domino licensing. You will be able lower your cost through an optimized configuration and keep it low going forward.
These topics will be covered
- Reducing license cost by finding and fixing misconfigurations and superfluous accounts
- How do CCB and CCX licenses really work?
- Understanding the DLAU tool and how to best utilize it
- Tips for common problem areas, like team mailboxes, functional/test users, etc
- Practical examples and best practices to implement right away

5th Power Grid Model Meet-up
It is with great pleasure that we extend to you an invitation to the 5th Power Grid Model Meet-up, scheduled for 6th June 2024. This event will adopt a hybrid format, allowing participants to join us either through an online Mircosoft Teams session or in person at TU/e located at Den Dolech 2, Eindhoven, Netherlands. The meet-up will be hosted by Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), a research university specializing in engineering science & technology.
Power Grid Model
The global energy transition is placing new and unprecedented demands on Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Alongside upgrades to grid capacity, processes such as digitization, capacity optimization, and congestion management are becoming vital for delivering reliable services.
Power Grid Model is an open source project from Linux Foundation Energy and provides a calculation engine that is increasingly essential for DSOs. It offers a standards-based foundation enabling real-time power systems analysis, simulations of electrical power grids, and sophisticated what-if analysis. In addition, it enables in-depth studies and analysis of the electrical power grid’s behavior and performance. This comprehensive model incorporates essential factors such as power generation capacity, electrical losses, voltage levels, power flows, and system stability.
Power Grid Model is currently being applied in a wide variety of use cases, including grid planning, expansion, reliability, and congestion studies. It can also help in analyzing the impact of renewable energy integration, assessing the effects of disturbances or faults, and developing strategies for grid control and optimization.
What to expect
For the upcoming meetup we are organizing, we have an exciting lineup of activities planned:
-Insightful presentations covering two practical applications of the Power Grid Model.
-An update on the latest advancements in Power Grid -Model technology during the first and second quarters of 2024.
-An interactive brainstorming session to discuss and propose new feature requests.
-An opportunity to connect with fellow Power Grid Model enthusiasts and users.

How to Manage External Users
Important Issues
• There is no global way to see a list of all the sites to which an external user
has access. You need to go to the individual sites to determine whether a
specific user has access to it.
• There is also no global way to see a list of all documents that have been

External Sharing in Yammer
Options for collaborating externally on the Home network
• Add guests to your Home network if you are comfortable with external users being part of
your organization's social network. To do so, select Admin->User Management->Invite
Guests. These users can have email addresses from any domain, but their domain will not be
added to the list of authorized domains. You can review a list of invited guests at any time on
the Invite Guests page. Note: only Yammer admins may invite guests to the Home network.
• External sharing is configurable for administrators. Go to Admin -> Network ->
Configuration. Unchecking this feature means that the Email a File or Email a Note options
are disabled for all users. Note: this feature is only available in Yammer Enterprise plans.

External Sharing in Yammer
Collaborating on an External network
External networks are used to enable collaboration between members of the Home Network
and external parties outside of the organization (e.g., customers, suppliers, partners).
Think of this as similar to creating a separate site collection for external sharing in SharePoint.
External users do not see any activity on the Home network.

Options for Collaborating on an External network
• Decide who can create and join External Networks. In Admin->External Networks, admins
can choose whether all users or only admins can create External networks. You can also
require Admin approval for members of your Home Network to join other External networks.
• View External Networks by selecting Networks->Browse External networks. This option can
be disabled in Admin->External Networks.
• Configure your External Network. In each external network, you can decide whether
members or only admins can invite new users in Admin->Configuration. You can also choose
to add domains whose users do not require invites to join (for example, your company or a
partner company).

Notes de l'éditeur
Dean: I moved Yammer to the end (and moved slides as well) - David
When you share a site with external users, you send them an invitation that they can use to log in to your site. You can send this invitation to any email address. When the recipient accepts the invitation, they log in using either a Microsoft account or an Office 365 user ID. When you share a site, you can select the type of permissions you want that person to have on the site.
David talk about Scenarios at ASCD.
Essentially, an external user is anyone accessing the site or its content who is not an Active User in the Office 365 Admin module.
You need to be a Tenant Administrator to Turn External Sharing on and off at the Tenant level. I have a recording that demonstrates this process.
You need to be a Tenant Administrator to Turn External Sharing on and off at the Site Collection level. I have a recording that demonstrates this process.
You need to be a Tenant Administrator to Turn External Sharing on and off at the Site Collection level. I have a recording that demonstrates this process.
How you Share content depends on what you are sharing. You can share an entire site or just a single document.
Share a Document Note: If you don’t select the Require sign-in check box, the email will contain an anonymous guest link to the document. Anonymous guest links could potentially be forwarded or shared with other people, who might also be able to view or edit the content without signing in.
Who alone: if no external sharing is allowed anywhere across the tenant.
Where alone: every site collection (or none)
How: only authentication (sites/docs) or anon (docs)
Discuss how Yammer is increasingly integrated with SharePoint and other Office 365 apps. You can use the Yammer App Part to embed Yammer group feeds into team sites. Some users can already add Yammer comments inside Office Online documents which live in SharePoint sites, and have the comments appear in a Yammer group feed.
Why are we talking about Yammer? Yammer is increasingly integrated with Office 365 and therefore Sharepoint. The three steps: Yammer App (discuss groups), Yammer in the Office 365 ribbon. Yammer Office Web Apps Integration.
Document conversations "ready" in Yammer. Replacing social features/tags and notes in SP. Comment on document in SP doc library right in Yammer and post in the appropriate group (for your team).
The "Home" network is Yammer's way of describing the default network which limits access to users with emails in the company's domain. This is the defining characteristic of Yammer and its differentiator from Facebook et al. However, Yammer has opted to allow admins to invite "guests".
David will show demo of external network (DemoANA or new one)
