11 Facts About Converse Chucks
Did you know that the converse was originally an athletic sneaker? According to 11 Facts about
Converse Chucks when converse debuted in 1917 they were athletic sneakers. History has changed
where people wear converse because many things have been affected. For example, the reason
people wear converse has changed from basketball to style, name change, and design change.
The NBA was founded in 1946, now a day s players wear their Jordan s and Nikes, but in the
1940 s most basketball players wore their converse (Ferro p.1). When converse first debuted in
1917, they were created to be worn as an athletic sneaker (Ferro p.1). With a rubber sole and a
canvas top, the players laced up their converse and were ready to hit the court (Green Label p.1).
Converse has been around now for about 100 years. Their design has not changed very much at
all, but the reason people wear them has changed (Green label p.1). During the 1936 Olympics,
the USA men s basketball team wore their converse during the games (Green Label p.1). A fun fact

Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia Essay
Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia (WM), also known as lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma, is a
type of low grade non Hodgkin lymphoma characterized by bone marrow infiltration with
lymphomasmacytic cells. WM was named after Jan Waldenstrom, a Swedish doctor who came
across the disease and labeled the disorder in 1944. It is an incurable, rare disease affecting 1 in
3 million people with a medial life span of 5 9 years after it is diagnosed. The cause of this
disease is unknown but recent indications and research show that the cause can be due to changes
in the DNA. Age and gender are the main factors with most occurrences in men over 50. WM s
cancercells are similar to multiple myeloma except that WM has lymphocyte features that are not
present in multiple... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prognosis is influenced by factors such as how advanced the disease is at diagnosis, and how
rapidly it is advancing. Effective treatments are traditional chemotherapy agents such as
chlorambucil, cyclophosphamide and melphalan. These can be given as a single agent or
combination with others such as rituximab. This monoclonal antibody has been found to be
effective. Because WM is a rare disease, there are minimal research trials to support this disease.
But none the less, there are clinical trials available. Ongoing research has introduced new therapies
including inhibitors and alkylating agents. These ongoing clinical trials have shown that when
compared to conventional chemotherapy agents, can not only treat the symptoms of the disease,
but also continue to further medicine s knowledge as to patient s prognosis while providing
patients increased therapeutic efficacy, longer remissions and most important, a better quality of
life. Stem cell transplant is also an option. This process involves removal of blood forming stem
cells which are restored to the patient following chemotherapy treatment while the transplanted
cells return to the bone marrow and produce new blood cells. Another option for patients with a
swollen spleen is the removal of the spleen. This would also help stabilize and stop the progression

Foster
Samuel Selvon s second novel An Island Is a World (1955) introduces the readers to the middle
class protagonist, Foster. As the narrative unfolds, Foster is exposed as an introspective cogitating
protagonist whose actions do not positively correlate with his thought processes. He can be seen
as, a character whose attractiveness or interest consists of the inability to perform deeds of bravery,
courage or generosity. Consequently, it can be said that Foster possesses traits of the common
unheroic working class protagonist present in twentieth century literature. His progress in terms of
evolution is cyclical, paralleling the arrangement of the novel which is circular; its beginning is its
end, and the prologue is in effect an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whereas in A Brighter Sun, Tiger assumes control of his destiny; Foster seems unable to force
the moment to its crisis. Tiger sees clearly what he must do to achieve his goals; Foster waits for
chance and circumstance to point the way. Tiger can act on the advice of his elders and can
assume the mantle of authority when Sookdeo dies; Foster is unable to commit himself to
carrying on Hope s lifetime work and writing. Tiger emerges a chastened young man with
wisdom beyond his years; Foster remains a thought ridden young man going around in circles,
seemingly unable to glean wisdom from experience. Tiger puts form, purpose and meaning into
his life; Foster waits for something to force him to the pieces together. Tiger in a relatively short
time finds the center; Foster chooses to remain on the periphery. Foster is given the credentials
to become an agent of change but his inability to rise to the challenge reduces him to almost an
anti hero. In the prologue and in the corpus of the novel, the readers are first introduced to a
Foster who is in bed or being roused from it. Rufus, his brother, wants a coherent reply as to what
Foster intends to do and he hops that Foster would not give him the usual evasive statements (28)
Rufus is aware that Foster is hesitant with words, as if he were puzzling over great problems in his
mind at the simplest question. (28). Foster later confesses in his correspondence to his friend,

Social networking worms: Social networking worms include Koobface, which has become,
according to researchers, the largest Web 2.0 botnet. While a multi faceted threat like Koobface
challenges the definition of worm, it is specifically designed to propagate across social networks
(e.g., Facebook, mySpace, Twitter, hi5, Friendster and Bebo), enlist more machines into its
botnet, and hijack more accounts to send more spam to enlist more machines. All the while

Animal Pollution
The environment which we live in is polluted every single day. The carelessness of humans today is
further damaging the ecosystem in some ways, more identifiable than others. Factory farming is a
system of rearing livestock using intensive methods, by which poultry pigs, or cattle are confined
indoors under strictly controlled conditions (Merriam webster). The animals are forced into the
participation of the supply and demand through cities and towns. Many may be oblivious to the fact
that the animalindustry is a leading factor of pollution. The global movement of intense meat
production is negatively affecting climate changes, ocean pollution and the animal food chain.
The process of meat production is causing the earth s climate to unnaturally change. Factory farms
use a variety of toxic chemicals to feed, grow and execute the animals. One of the chemicals used
on factory farms is Carbon Dioxide. Burning fossil fuel (oil and gasoline) releases a considerable
amount of carbon dioxide. Fossil fuels are hydrocarbons, primarily coal, fuel, oil or natural gas,
formed from the remains of dead plants and animals. It takes, on average 11 times as much fossil
fuel to produce a calorie of animal protein as it does to produce a calorie of grain protein. In the
end, more carbon dioxide is released during the production of meat rather than the manufacturing of
vegetables and plants (Peta, p.1) Another toxic chemical that is often released into the atmosphere
because of factory

The Progression Of Truths Within A Taxonomy
An Essay on the Progression of Truths in a Taxonomy To begin understanding whether or not
science progresses towards greater truths, truth must first be defined. It is the quality or state of
conforming to fact or reality.1 As such a greater truth is one which better conforms to reality.
Through scientific revolutions scienceprogresses towards a taxonomy of greater truths. To accept
this one must first understand that truths exist in science, that there are greater truths which replace
falsified truths, and that science is continually building its way towards those greater truths through
revolutions. For the purpose of this essay a scientific revolution is as Kuhn describes the shift from
one accepted paradigmto a new one where a paradigm is considered a distinct set of concepts and
theories. Science seeks to discover and explain the objective realities of our world and universe
through these concepts and theories. Throughout history theories have been proposed, accepted,
and replaced. This is the one constant of science in the long run; that it is always improving
upon itself; our bank of knowledge is increasing. While there are periods of regression, today the
world is definitively more scientifically advanced then it was a millennia ago. But why is it that
we consider todays accepted paradigms to be true and the paradigms from antiquity false? The
more we believe in a paradigms propositions and depend on them for performing tasks in reality,
the truer they become

The Effects Of Violent Video Games On Children s Behavior
The effect of violent video games on children s behavior has been the major concern of numerous
researchers over the last several decades. Indeed, a great number of researches conducted by
psychologists show that regular exposure to violent video games has both long term and short
term negative effects on a player s behavior. Aggressiveness and lack of empathy are considered to
be two main outcomes of constant playing games with violent content. However, it should be noted
that the content is not the only criteria that should be taken into account when measuring games
effects on behavior. Indeed, much attention should be paid to the difficulty of games and time
spent on playing. Thus, a brief overview of studies concerning the violent video games effect and
those disproving this idea along with the analysis of other factors affecting children s behavior
such as moral standards and family environment will show that violent video games are not
principal factors that affect children s behavior and cause child violence.
When analyzing different studies proving the idea that all violent video games lead to
aggressiveness and violence, it is important to mention that all 3 main types of studies have both
advantages and disadvantages. Anderson and Swing distinguished the following types of studies:
(a) experimental; (b) cross sectional correlational; and (c) longitudinal ones (Paludi 47). Thus,
experimental studies are focused on manipulating exposure to violence via media and

Examples Of Etiquette In The Renaissance Era

Behaving Accordingly
The Renaissance Era was widely influenced by many of the playwrights and literary geniuses of
this time. The way people spoke, acted, or treated others was incredibly different from our societal
norms . For each citizen there was a certain level of maturity, poise, and etiquette expected of
them. The three social classes consisted of the Clergy( or the church), the nobles and ruling class,
and the peasants, merchants, and townspeople. People of the Renaissance era valued extremely
different ideas of behavior , romantically, at the table, or even just as everyday common courtesy.
The first idea of proper ways to act were believed to be inherited from Greece and Rome. The
original idea of etiquette derives from when people started to live together in large groups and
little things made people realize that getting along was better and easier than fighting and arguing
constantly. The word etiquette originates from King Louis XIV. He would have a letter posted on
a door to inform guests of what they were to wear, how they ... Show more content on

Men and women weren t equal in most ways, therefore they were to act appropriately for their
gender s roles in everyday society. For the woman of the Renaissance their main goal was to
charm. Castiglione says, in a Lady who lives at court a certain pleasing affability is becoming
above all else, whereby she will be able to entertain graciously every kind of man . Everyday
physical activities such as horse riding, or weaponry was considered unladylike and therefore
inappropriate for women to do. Entertaining and charming men was a job for women, it was
considered their main priority. Women were not to act too direct nor too modest when socially
interacting with men, they had to look at the ground until pursued or invited, and they were to lift
their hand to men and let the men kiss

Deepwater Horizon Was An Offshore Drilling Rig
Deepwater Horizon was an offshore drilling rig built in 2001 in South Korea by Hyundai Heavy
Industries. In September 2009, the rig drilled the deepest oil well in history with a vertical depth of
35,050 feet.
An unplanned flow of well fluids into the wellbore can be dangerous as it could cause a blowout
which would then cause a fire. In order to prevent this, driller s pump a drilling mud into the
well, creating a barrier between the undersea oil and gas and the rig. The safety of the drilling
crew relies on a piece of equipment placed on the top of the sea floor called the blowout
preventer. This is essential for controlling the well and in an emergency situation preventing a
disaster on the platform high above on the sea surface. The blowout preventer is connected to the
rig by a large diameter pipe called a riser. If a blowout occurs the blowout preventer is designed to
prevent flammable oil and gas travelling up the drilling rig.
At 8:45pm on April 20th 2010 a blowout occurred in the well. Oil and gas entered the wellbore
undetected, eventually passing above the blowout preventer. Quickly it made its way up the
riser towards the Deepwater Horizon and the 126 people on board. Just after 9:40 pm, drilling
mud forced upwards by the rising oil and gas suddenly blew out on the rig. Crew members
responded by closing the upper annular preventer. This did not work. They then tried to close a
pipe ram. This successfully closed the annular space and sealed the well but this

The circus that has captivated our attention for over a year has finally ceased. On Tuesday night,
the Presidential Election came to an end, with Trump coming out victorious. The three articles by
the New York Times depict how the majority of America felt before and after the election.
The first article, written the day before the election by Michael Barbaro, Ashley Parker and Amy

Election. The article portrays the election as over, with Hilary Clinton coming out victorious.

years, you can hear the emotion seeping out in the words they choose. One example of this is when
they write, Trump s election was met with a mix of shock, uncertainty and some congratulations

Tribute To Dario Escobar
We were assigned to make a piece of art to tribute our artist that best puts him or her in thought.
There were nine groups honoring nine different artists. I feel that the tribute to Dario Escobar
was truly the most effective. Escobar is a well known artist born in Guatemala. He is famous for
his many abstract ideas for artwork and his theme for many of his work being made of sports
gear and some covered in gold leaf. I will prove the effectiveness of Escobar s tribute from the
group s presentation and the principles and elements of art used by the group. The group that

This group used these elements very well. The shape of their tribute was very unique with the
long slim design that grows larger at the end with the soccer ball. The form was a part of it as
well because the artwork was 3d. It had a very small depth and width but the height was very
tall. The volume was portrayed in a few places like were the gold color meets the dark blue bat
or the white hand print is on the black grip. There were several lines in their artwork especially
on the soccer ball. To me the color of the artwork stood out including hues of gold, blue, black,
white, and purple. The intensity of the gold color stood out to me. I noticed value in the colors
were the black was on the dark blue. The project takes up all positive space due to the fact that it
has no background but it would be neat to add a large white background to it. The final element
of art that was put into this artwork was texture which we can see on the smooth area of the ball
and the metal bat. The tribute to Dario Escobar used every single element of art in obvious ways
making this a great work of art and tribute to

The Break With Rome By William Shakespeare
The Break with Rome was a process that began around the early 1500 s and is still in play to this
day. Many historians studying the topic believe that the causes leading up to the Break with Rome
were too complex and that they are of a nature that cannot be listed if you wanted to
comprehensively analyze the ultimate cause of the Break with Rome. Thus leading to the causes
being described as more of a process through a series of causes and not so much an event . There
are many debated causes of the Break between historians that argue over their validity and
importance as to whether or not the cause was actually real and had big enough motives behind it
to lead on to such a bigger event. The main causes that have been debated over for century s are:
the inability of Catherine of Aragonto provide a male Heir for King Henry that he so desperately
desired to have, the love obsession with Anne Boleynthat historians believe subsequently led on
to Henry wanting to annul his marriage with Catherine with means such as a Leviticus testament
from the bible, Pope Clement VII s refusal to grant the annulment for Henry and the fact that
Charles V, Catherine s nephew may have had a role in it and Henry s increasing want and desire
in his conquest for power and money. All of these causes are believed by many historians to have
played a vital role in the process that led to the Break with Rome in 1533. Following the Break
there were many consequences as a result, which a few still

with Curry and Kyrie Irving holding equal importance. But perhaps the most impactful match up
is Klay Thompson and J.R Smith. The Warriors have a big 4, while the Cavaliers have a

The stark contrast between both players may not even be in their pure production level, but
rather in their confidence. J.R Smith s confidence seems to be at an all time high. Klay
Thompson s seems to be at its lowest point since his rookie and sophomore seasons, if that. Their
roles in the offense differ, however. J.R Smith plays about 25 minutes a game, to Klay s 35.
Thompson is looked upon to do more for Golden State, which includes but is not limited to:
guarding the opposing team s best perimeter player, coming off screens for threes, and a higher
volume of shots attempted. However, it is J.R Smith who s production will be more vital. The
Cavaliers thankfully have many safety nets for Smith in the event of lackluster play. The
addition of Kyle Korver gives Cleveland flexibility at the 2 guard spot, with a deadeye three
point shooter who can keep up with the likes of the splash brothers in the long ball department. A
defensive liability admittedly, the Cavs also have Iman Shumpert at their disposal. A great
defender who plays better off ball defense than Smith, Shump often times has a sporadic offensive
game which comes and goes. J.R Smith will be the bearer of tremendous burden. Looked upon to
be that fourth scorer for Cleveland s front line, Smith will have to come into the lineup prepared to
play smart above all things, and execute at an efficient rate. The Warriors also have flexibility and

The Negative Effects Of Video Games
Introduction
Most of the research done on video games tends to be done on the possible negative effects
associated with the medium. From aggression and violence to the connection to mood disorders,
video games tend to get a bad reputation. However, there are studies that have been done about the
possible positive effects of games as well. There are definitely fewer positive studies than negative,
but they are out there for those who search them out. The study that was used by Kendall Ashley in
her article How Videogames Can Help with Depression and Anxiety, was not one of those studies.
News Article Purpose and Study Fit (250)
The news article by Kendall Ashley, How Videogames Can Help with Depression and Anxiety ,
claimed exactly as its title suggests. The article went into how different types of games, such as
MMORPGs (massively multiplayer online role playing games), puzzle games, and games based
on depression supposedly assisted with anxiety and depression. I went into reading this article
favorably, as someone who both enjoys video games and as someone who is diagnosed with
anxiety. However, after comparing what the study said with what the article presented it as, I found
myself disappointed. Ashley either did not understand what the study said or just named dropped
the study to make her article seem more valid. Most of the time when Ashley claims that Studies
show that... she is either referring to an uncited study, or straight out lying about the content of

Red Imagery In Macbeth
Imagery is defined as visually descriptive or figurative language, especially in a literary work.
William Shakespeare is notorious for using strong metaphors in his work to create vivid images in
readers minds, especially in his play Macbeth. Using such examples sets a dark tone for the story
and allows readers to form their own mental interpretation. In the play, imagery is prevalent through
references to blood, animals, clothing, and nighttime, symbolising darkness. Whether these themes
are shown through characters actions, speech, or just implied thoughts, they are present and
plentiful. The color red is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, passion, love, and
most notably, blood. In Macbeth, there is real bloodshed from death, but it is also as a symbol for
harsh deeds. Shakespeare uses sharp blood red imagery because it is easy to visualize for
readers since they are so familiar with the color. One of the boldest references in the play occurs
in Act II, scene II when Lady Macbeth replies to Macbeth s admission of guilt. Here, she also
admits to having blood on her hands, and the stain which later comes back to haunt her is
revealed. Her line My hands are of your color but I shame to wear a heart so white. strongly
portrays imagery because the reader can see the defined line between white, purity, and red, sin.
The line comes off as Lady Macbeth s first real cry for help, and readers can see her begin to
crumble. Although their hands are not

The Four Noble Truths ( пїЅпїЅ Rya Satya )
The Four Noble Truths (ДЃrya satya) are the foundation upon which Buddhist teachings are built
off of. The attainment of Nirvana, an experience separate from the physical world, is impossible
without understanding which aspect of life each Noble Truth pertains to. The Noble Truths outline
the cause of reincarnation and path that must be taken to escape from the cycle of continuous death
and re birth. The Four Truths are:
1.Concerning Suffering
2.Origin of Suffering
3.Destruction of Suffering
4.Destruction of Sorrow
The First Noble Truth is focused on the problem that all humans face. That issue is duhkha,
translated as suffering , which traditionally covers a large spectrum of meanings. While suffering
means to be in a present state of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As many people are taught to have a positive outlook, it might not be until one practices meditative
rituals that one realizes that there are aspects of life where possible pleasure is absent. It is also
important to recognize that suffering is an unavoidable result of changes in life. Anything that
brings joy must end at some time and that ending will inevitably bring pain. Suffering can be sorted
into three categories: Duhkha duhkha, vipariṇāma duḥkha, and saṃskāraduḥkha.
Duhkha duhkha is about physical suffering such as sickness, injury, death, etc. These are the pains
that Buddha first saw when he left his palace, before seeking enlightenment. Vipariṇāma
duḥkha refers to the suffering that results in change. Since the world is constantly changing, one
can never be certain as to their happiness for the next day, and the day after that. This uncertainty
of happiness is an absence of pleasure in and of itself. Saṃskāraduḥkha, in common terms,
can be summed up as all good things come to an end . Everything that is or has been has an end.
Everything must return to the various states it was before it was formed. For example, no matter
what sort of life a human being experienced, in the end all humans face death and the bodies
disassemble into the various components it is made of. The body decays and breaks down into the
materials that form it such as carbon, minerals, and vitamins.

Rembrandt Essay examples
Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn is generally considered one of the greatest painters in European
art history and the most important in Dutch history. Rembrandt was also a proficient printmaker
and made many drawings. His contributions to art came in a period that historians call the Dutch
Golden Age (roughly equivalent to the 17th century), in which Dutch culture, science, commerce,
world power and political influence reached their pinnacles.
In all, Rembrandt produced around 600 paintings, 300 etchings, and 2,000 drawings. He was a
prolific painter of self portraits, producing almost a hundred of them (including some 20 etchings)
throughout his long career. Together they give us a remarkably clear picture of the man, his looks,

By 1631, Rembrandt had established such a good reputation that he received several assignments
for portraits from Amsterdam. As a result, he moved to that city and into the house of an art
dealer, Hendrick van Uylenburgh. This move eventually led, in 1634, to the marriage of
Rembrandt and Hendrick s greatniece, Saskia van Uylenburg. This was obviously a marriage for
love. Although she came from a good family (her father had been burgomaster of Leeuwarden),
Saskia was an orphan and was probably not very wealthy. She lived with her sister in Frisia and did
not have many grand connections in Amsterdam. These events, however, are widely disputed.
In 1639, Rembrandt and Saskia moved to a prominent house in the Jodenbreestraat in the Jewish
quarter, which later became the Rembrandt House Museum. Although they were affluent the couple
had several setbacks in their personal life. Three of their children died shortly after birth. Only
their fourth child, a son, Titus, who was born in 1641, survived into adulthood. Saskia died in 1642
soon after Titus s birth, probably from tuberculosis.
After her death he began an affair with Titus s nurse, a widow called Geertje Dircx. This ended
in a lawsuit. Geertje claimed that Rembrandt had broken his promise to marry her, and demanded
that the council force him to marry her. The council did not go that far but Rembrandt was asked
to pay her a lot of money. He then cooperated with Geertje s family to have her locked up in a

Abstract
This paper will jump into the psychologically significant findings in the movie 10 Things I Hate
About You. All research for this paper was conducted using the text required for the fall semester of
Developmental Psychology (offline) and using the internet. While some see the movie as just a
depiction of normal teenage life with an overbearing parent, there are many notable psychological
stages, and even disorders present throughout. Without having done research to discover these, it
would be easy to look over them, but once pointed out, they are more than obvious. It is interesting
to see how they were put into the movie without making it the main theme of the movie itself. This
paper will define those psychological findings, explain them, and locate them within the actual
movie.
10 Things I Hate About You The movie 10 Things I Hate About You(1999) is a film that was
based off of William Shakespeare s The Taming of the Shrew that was a popular play in the 16th

History of Christianity and the Christian Church
1)Paul s main message was that through Jesus, God would give pardon to those who trusted and
believed him. He also believed that people can begin the process of salvation present in their
own life. He spoke of agape. This is unconditional love. He believed all of Christian concern
circled around this. Jesus s teachings are more about the life her and now. So when he talked
about the Kingdom of Heaven, he was thinking of a kingdom here on earth, while Paul thought
more about a metaphorical kingdom of people who believe. Another big difference is that Paul
believed people are justification by faith; while Jesus focused on doing things repenting, being
baptized in order to be justified. Jesus spoke to Jesus; Paul spoke to Gentiles, so the law Moses
wasn t as important.
2)In the year 800, Pope Leo named Charlemagne the Holy Roman Empire. This upset the Byzantine
emperor because the Byzantines had stood up to barbarians and upheld the faith for years and they
didn t want a western Emperor over them. Things continued to get worse and in 1054, church split
into two: Rome Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Catholics. Things that contributed to the schism
were the fact that the Roman Catholics tended to be in the west and the Orthodox in the east, and as
time went on language differences got in the way. Also, the west put more emphasis on Jesus s
humanity while the east focused on his divinity. Today, the churches accept each other but they

Essay On Observation To A Classroom Observation
On Tuesday September 28th, 2017 I observed Mrs. Rosser s first grade classroom. Her classroom
is located within Donahue Academy which is located in Ave Maria, Florida. The classroom had a
total of 14 students. The children cover every basic subject everyday such as science, math,
writing, reading, and they also practice their handwriting. Since this is a Catholic school the
children also have daily mass along with daily religion studies. When I first walked into the
classroom the children were hard at work. They were all spread throughout the classroom sitting on
various rugs throughout the classroom working on their writing. The students in the class had the
opportunity to work alone or with partners. Mrs. Rosser was fully engaged with the students
when I walked into the classroom. She was chatting with the students about their stories and
helping them brainstorm in order to extend their stories. Mrs. Rosser promptly greeted me and
told me to make myself comfortable. She then quickly got back to helping the students with their
stories. I felt that Mrs. Rosser s classroom was set up efficiently. Her desk is set up where she has a
clear view of all of her students. Although when I was in her classroom for my observationshe was
never at her desk. She was up and moving around the classroom during my entire observation
period. The student s desks were all set up in the center of the classroom in clusters. The only
problem with some of the children s desks were that they don t face the front white board so they
would need to turn completely around in their chairs to see. Although it seemed that Mrs.
Rosser typically had the students come to the front rug in front of the white board while she
taught. That way the children didn t have any issues with having to turn around in their chairs. I
felt that Mrs. Rosser s educational philosophy was that she wanted to create a really amazing
classroom community. I loved how she referred to all of her students as friends. An example to
her calling all of her students friends, she would say, Gather around friends! Mrs. Rosser is one
of the most positive teachers I have ever experienced. I honestly wish I would have had a teacher
as positive as her when I was that age.

Essay The United States Must Abandon Nuclear Power
The United States Must Abandon Nuclear Power
The United States must re examine many policies previously accepted as reasonable, especially its
own national energy policy. As the largest overall and per capita energy consumer in the world, the
U.S. needs to decide upon a reasonable source of energy for the foreseeable future, especially since
its energy needs will increase dramatically during that time. With political instabilitylikely to
remain the norm in the Middle East, oil continues to be an energy source of questionable reliability;
in addition, current estimates of worldwide reserves suggest we may in fact run out of oil entirely
in the next fifty years. Natural gas reserves are in fairly short supply too, and costs limit its ... Show

The origins of nuclear power, in fact, should be enough to give one pause; fission reactions
(albeit uncontrolled ones) were originally intended to be used as weapons: the weapon, of
course, being the atomic bomb. The nuclear program began in earnest when Einstein himself,
afraid that Hitler had a team working on such a weapon, wrote to President Roosevelt to inform
him that such a weapon might be possible to build (Shrader Frechette 7). The development of
the A bomb by the Manhattan Project, its use in Japan and the effect on World War II are all
well documented. (After the initial test at Alamagordo, New Mexico, one of the bomb s major
developers, J. Robert Oppenheimer, was rumored to whisper: I am become death, the destroyer
of worlds, when he saw the level of destruction his new creation had achieved.) Less well known
are the recommendations made by a panel of Manhattan Project scientists about the post war
uses of nuclear energy. The panel s report concluded, The development of fission piles solely for
the production of power for ordinary commercial use does not appear economically sound nor
advisable from the point of view of preserving natural resources ; in other words, the first panel of
experts on commercial nuclear energy and its resources felt uranium was too expensive to waste on

Literary Analysis Of The Soldier And Returning, We Hear...
Irene Tsakiri Despoina Kalaitzidou Workshop in Critical Writing: Poetry 10 May 2016
Discussing and Comparing Poems About War This essay discusses the poems The Soldier by
Rupert Brooke and Returning, We Hear the Larks by Isaac Rosenberg. What I wish to argue is
that the speaker tries to evoke feelings of patriotism in the first poem, and simultaneous but
contrasting feelings of horror and hope in the latter one. Both poems have war and death as their
main themes, yet differ significantly from each other. In terms of structure, The Soldier is
composed of two stanzas and it is written in iambic pentameter. The rhyme scheme is ABAB
CDCD in the first stanza, and EFG EFG in the second stanza. The poem was written during the
First World War,

It consists of four stanzas which are not equal lengthwise. There is also no rhyming; the poem
has free verse. The speaker, who is also the main persona of the poem, is a soldier in the war and
we deduce this from what he describes which definitely sounds like a battlefield and when he
talks about [their] camp (5). The blind man described in line 13 and the girl in line 15 could be
identified as silent personas. The poem s historical context is the First World War, to which the
poet, Isaac Rosenberg, was sent with the English Army. His experience was probably what
inspired the poem s theme. The audience of the poem is every reader, but it could also be a
person close to the speaker. Rosenberg s personal experience of the war, could also indicate that
he is the speaker and that the poem could be considered autobiographical. Moreover, one could
say that the poem looks like it could be en extract from a diary entry, or even a creative letter to a
loved one. The tone of the poem is melancholic, sombre, serious and tense, but a little hopeful as
well. Figurative language is excessively used in this poem. There are two similes, which
facilitate the comparison of the song that dropped with a blind man s dream on the sand (13)
and with a girl s dark hair (15). Metaphors are ample in the poem, for example when they are
dragging these anguished limbs (4), the poison blasted track (5), the fact that death could drop
from the dark (10) and that no ruin lies there (15). In line 3 there is personification of the sinister
threat [that] lurks there and the [m]usic showering on [their] faces (9). There could also be an
allusion to the Bible, when the speaker uses the biblical terms hark! (7) and [l]o! (8), while the
strange joy (7) described, could be considered an oxymoron. Interesting is also the wording of the
poem. The speaker uses poetic language with some archaic elements, but also invents and

Ernest Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants Essay
Katherine Escobar Professor. RiobuenoENC1102 12/11/16 Ernest Hemingway s Hills Like
White Elephants Ernest Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants is a story about two characters
on their journey in the valley of Spain. They are deciding whether or not to make an abortion,
which is indirectly implied on the narrative. Hemingway has a specific way of creating the story
that it becomes apparent that every description he used is a symbol of the plot. Through this way
of storytelling, Hemingway created an adamant and very relatable narrative that exposes human
truths, emotions, and the confusion that is inherent in the different situations and conditions
which people have over their lives. The plot opens with an extended description of the scenery
found in the setting of the story. As the characters will travel by train, Hemingway used this to
formulate the description of the setting and to organize the concept of the story. He orders two
beers from the bartender one for him and one for the girl, whom he calls Jig. It is implied that the
American and the girl have a relationship, and they are traveling somewhere to do something.
They talk about an operation, which the American tells the girl that she will feel better and they
will live happily together afterward. The American also shows the girl how much he cares for her,
and the girl looks at the scenery of the station. They argue, and the girl feels tired, and this makes
the American to stop talking. The story ends

Absolute Monarchy In The French Revolution
At its beginnings, monarchy was a political system in which the King was the major authority in his
country. Its power and respect emanated from the belief that he had been chosen by a God or holy
source. Generally, monarchies has always been associated to a religion (Catholicism, in the case of
Spain). It wasn t until the French Revolution, at the end of XVIIIth century, when some countries
started change the way they were governed. Before this Revolution, the only form they had was the
absolute monarchy, in which the king gathered the three state powers: executive, legislative and
judicial. The inhabitants of the nation were submitted to the king s power. Before the French

This government ensured democracy, separation of the state powers, freedom (the freedom of
speech was one of the most claimed), justice, equality (regarding to government entities: anybody

meaning because it involved all the new rights these people had.
The second form of government created was the Parliamentary Monarchy, in which the king had
some powers and the legislative was hold by the Parliament. This form was set in the UK, but
before the official stabilization there were some precedents: around the XVIIth century, the king
had a group of people that recommended him what to do concerning politics and legal things. This
small group ended up forming the Parliament.
The third and last variant was the keeping of the Absolute Monarchy. It were popular in countries
like Spain, Italy or Russia. This countries had some periods of alternation between republic and
monarchy, until the end of the XIXth century/beginning of the XXth, when finally the Absolute
Monarchy finished, and all of them ended under a dictatorial system. After the dictatorships, Russia

In later days, Congress created the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in June1933. This
reform insured each bank deposited up to $2,500 a day and consequently, banks gained more trust

situation of the country. After achieving this goal without difficulty, Roosevelt issued an
executive order to create the Farm Credit Administration. The purpose of this was to provide low

back lost farms, and purchased the needed seed, fertilizer, and equipment. The outcome of this
program was quite obvious; farming would once again flourish and thus, more food available for

The Many Ways Of Dealing With Life
As an individual, I have always seen the world somewhat differently than the average person in a
community such as mine. Those around me, as devout orthodox Jews, tend to view those
different than them as strange and odd often times even judging them negatively. Personally, I
see this as a large problem, since as much as we would like to separate ourselves from those
different than us to avoid negative influences, we do live in a society that includes a multitude
of religions, cultures, and ways of life. I believe wholeheartedly that each person can learn an
immense amount from everyone they come across, and by continuing our habit of blocking off
most of society with negative words, we are cutting ourselves off from a lifetime of growth and
possibility. Yes, others may be different than us. They may have different views, different beliefs,

believe that respect should be given to everyone, no matter their race, religion, or station in life. I
must credit my father ZTL and my mother, who both raised me to see the good in others and
respect every human being I come across. They taught me that just because I had my beliefs, did
not mean I had a right to judge others for believing differently. The

Ultrasound Accelerated Syntheis of Novel Benzimidazole...
Objective: Present research work is carried out for rapid development of some biological active
new heterocyclic moieties. Method: A novel series of 3 substituted 1 [1 (toluene 4 sulfonyl) 1H
benzoimidazol 2 yl] propen 1 one (3a 3j) were synthesized by tosylation of benzimidazole
chalcones (2a 2j) using ultrasound in lesser time with higher yields. All the synthesized
compounds were characterized by Elemental analysis, IR spectra, 1H, 13C NMR and Mass
spectroscopy. The newly synthesized compounds were screened for their О± glucosidases and
antibacterial activity. Result: Biological evaluation of the compounds (3a 3j) revealed that most
of them are good О± glucosidases inhibitors and possess significant antimicrobial activity
compared to their respective standards. Discussion: Amongst (3a 3j), compound 3h showed
moderate inhibition of glucoamylase and compound 3j with compelling inhibition of О± amylase.
Compound 3g and 3e displayed excellent antibacterial activity against all tested strains and
admirable antifungal activity against Candida albicans respectively. INTRODUCTION
Glycosidases play an essential role in numerous biological recognition processes and their
function or dysfunction has been implicated in a number of different disease states, leading to an
interest in the screening of different glycosidases inhibitors (Naoki et al., 2000; Terry et al., 2003).
О± Glucosidases (EC 3.2.1.20) constitute a group of exo acting glycoside hydrolases of diverse

French Absolute Monarchy
In the centuries preceding the French revolution, France was an absolute monarchy renowned for
its power, wealth and efficiency. The French kings maintained this power by establishing the
Estates General, an assembly composed of representatives from the French nobility, church and
mercantile classes. All three classes served a key role, in exchange for a complete tax emption the
French nobility provided professional soldiers to protect Frances vulnerable borders while the
Catholic Church administered the legal system and the lower class merchants financed the
government with their tax money. By cooperating with these groups, the French monarchs ensured
that their power was never is jeopardy (Fields, O Neil and Share 155 156). However, by the
fifteenth century the French monarchy had grown increasingly centralized, allowing the king to
expand France s borders significantly while greatly boosting his own popularity and influence. As a
result, the French monarchs where able to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By the 18th century, France s imperialist conquests and the royal family s expensive luxury
consumption put a significant strain on France s finances. To compensate, taxes on the French
lower classes where raised significantly, badly damaging France s economy and causing major
famines. Louis XVI, France s monarch at the time, attempted to end this downward spiral by
calling the estates general to order for the first time in generations, believing that the conservative
clergy and nobles would shore up support for his rule. Instead, the lower class merchants
demanded that they be given more power in the Estates General due to them composing the
overwhelming majority of France s population (Fields, O Neil and Share 155 159). The king s
refusal of their demands, coupled with France s ongoing famine and high taxes, enraged the French
lower classes leading to the end of the French monarchy in its

Research Paper On Shakespeare
I assume everyone already knows that Shakespeare invented many new words in the English
language, but have you ever stopped and thought about just why he did it? People don t make up
new words for no reason; they make them up because there is a need. In Shakespeare s case, that
need was because of his time period and the ideas he wanted to express. Let me explain:
Shakespeare wrote his plays, poems, and other works during the time of Elizabethan England. This
is a very interesting time period in history because many new revolutions and reforms were taking
place. The most important one regarding Shakespeare was the Italian Renaissance. You see, Early
Modern English which is what we call the English that Shakespeare wrote in was very messy
regarding its structure and vocabulary when you compared it to languages such as Latin and Greek.
When Shakespeare was starting to write his works, the English language was going through
incredible changes, absorbing and integrating words from other languages due to the events that
were happening in the 1600s such as colonization, exploration, war, and others. There was a huge
return to philosophical thinking in Italy and a new way of expressing ideas that we today call the
Renaissance.
Of course the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is also one of the reasons why Shakespeare s plays are set in Italy, and the beautiful plays
and scenes he describes are often using Italian cultural mediums such as Commedia Dell Arte.
Nowhere could you find such a historical basin of beautiful ideas and expressions without going to
Latin and therefore to Italy. Shakespeare wanted his plays to mean something wonderful, and to do
this he went to places with language that conveyed these beautiful ideas like no one else. There s a
reason why in English romantic means romantic as in love inspiring and romantic as in

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Audio Lingual Method
Nowadays, although teaching and learning English has constantly changed, the Audio Lingual
Method still plays a significant role in many English classes around the world. According to Larsen
Freeman (2000), the Audio Lingual Method was developed from an interesting idea that behavioral
psychology and linguistic conventions are closely related to each other. Thus, this method aims to
enhance learners ability by overlearn and habit formation.
The goal of this method is to help the students to be able to communicate in the target language. In
order to achieve this purpose, the Audio Lingual Method contains the following characteristics.
Firstly, contextualized dialogs are utilized to present new vocabulary and structures in class.
Secondly, the conversations are learned through drills which are considered as an integral part of
the Audio Lingual Method. In my own teaching, backward build up drill, repetition drill and
substitution drill contribute importantly the success of students learning. Next, grammar rules are
induced from examples. By this approach, students personalize and use the grammatical points
naturally like the way they acquire the native language. Based on above features, it is believed that
the Audio Lingual Method has a part in the communicative development of students in the target
language.
Next, this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This paper believes that every approach has strengths and weaknesses. Hence, choosing an
appropriate method depends on the level of the students or the purpose of the course. As an English
teacher, I am convinced that we should comprehend both advantages and disadvantages of each
method. Thence, we try to maximize the strengths and minimize the weaknesses. Finally, the
chosen method must achieve the objective of the course and meet the demand of the learners. That

Proverbs In Esperanza Rising By Pam Munoz Ryan
I read a novel Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan it is a story of a young girl. Esperanza was
a rich girl at the time she was in Mexico and she became a labor worker on a farm in San
Francisco, California. In this book I read all the stories there are a different kind of Mexican
proverbs throughout the stories which reflect the way they are, and real meanings of the story.
In this story they used three Mexican proverbs that reflects their story such as He who falls
today may rise tomorrow The rich person is richer when he becomes poor, than the poor person
when he becomes rich Wait a little while and the fruit will fall into your hand To begin with, He
who falls today may rise tomorrow. They used this proverb to describe when the Esperanza s
family went through the obstacles. When Esperanza family gets hard time they were shot with
fanatical, but they weren t out completely. They worked hard for successful. They also believed
that working hard could change people s lives. If they shouldn t have worked hard, they wouldn t
be good enough to survive and archive their future. Worked hard, they wouldn t be good enough to

Flour Industry In The 1800s
The flour industry was a big part of Minnesota and Minneapolis in the 1800s because of all of the
flour mill workers. Without them Minnesota would be nowhere near as far as it is today. When
flour milling was first introduced to Minnesota it started a new chapter for Minnesota in the
1800s. Fort Snelling built the first mill at the St Anthony falls. The first mill produced black bad
tasting bread which was later fixed. By 1876, eighteen flour mills were running on the west side of
Minnesota. The flour milling industry has gone up tremendously in the late 1800s because of
various reasons. Minneapolis was the flour milling capital of the world at this time. They also
received the name Mill City for the huge flour milling industry. Now twentyfive

The Theme Of Revolt Of The Rats By Reed Blitzerman
Revolt of the Rats by Reed Blitzerman is a suspense novella following two storylines: one is set
in Depression era America and the second in the automotive industry in the 1990s. Kahle
Desireau applies for a job at Motomax automotive plant; he has just left the army after six years of
service. His primary motivation for considering Motomax is that he wants to be near Beezor
Wasikowska, the woman of his infatuation. The Frampton plant readily employs Kahle, and thus
begins his new career as a factoryrat. The second storyline focuses on Eli Steiner, a farmer
struggling to keep his smallholding during the Great Depression. Once he recovers from smallpox,
he establishes a second industry, a machine shop, on his land. He intends the shop to be... Show

Important aspects of the story are unclear, namely Kahle s ability to see auras, his military
background and what his story had to do with Eli s. At times, I wondered if some details and
characters were forgotten in the course of the writing. Because of this, the story had a stilted,
perfunctory quality that made it difficult to read and confusing to navigate. It read like a first
draft, not a finished product. The end of the story never resolved the problems or questions set by
the premise. I understand that this is the first book of a series, but a clear, resolved ending is more
satisfying to a reader than a blunt one.
Since Revolt of the Rats needs professional editing and a tighter rein to keep the plot on track, I
would not recommend it to readers, so I give it 2 out of 4. The editing and typesetting issues were
the main reasons I could not give this book a higher rating, but the undeveloped nature of the story
took it down another rating point. The theme of Revolt of the Rats has the potential to appeal to an
audience living in a capitalist economy and certainly will once the story is polished, professionally
edited and developed into a finished

Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia Essay Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia (WM), also known as lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma, is a type of low grade non Hodgkin lymphoma characterized by bone marrow infiltration with lymphomasmacytic cells. WM was named after Jan Waldenstrom, a Swedish doctor who came across the disease and labeled the disorder in 1944. It is an incurable, rare disease affecting 1 in 3 million people with a medial life span of 5 9 years after it is diagnosed. The cause of this disease is unknown but recent indications and research show that the cause can be due to changes in the DNA. Age and gender are the main factors with most occurrences in men over 50. WM s cancercells are similar to multiple myeloma except that WM has lymphocyte features that are not present in multiple... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Prognosis is influenced by factors such as how advanced the disease is at diagnosis, and how rapidly it is advancing. Effective treatments are traditional chemotherapy agents such as chlorambucil, cyclophosphamide and melphalan. These can be given as a single agent or combination with others such as rituximab. This monoclonal antibody has been found to be effective. Because WM is a rare disease, there are minimal research trials to support this disease. But none the less, there are clinical trials available. Ongoing research has introduced new therapies including inhibitors and alkylating agents. These ongoing clinical trials have shown that when compared to conventional chemotherapy agents, can not only treat the symptoms of the disease, but also continue to further medicine s knowledge as to patient s prognosis while providing patients increased therapeutic efficacy, longer remissions and most important, a better quality of life. Stem cell transplant is also an option. This process involves removal of blood forming stem cells which are restored to the patient following chemotherapy treatment while the transplanted cells return to the bone marrow and produce new blood cells. Another option for patients with a swollen spleen is the removal of the spleen. This would also help stabilize and stop the progression of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He can be seen as, a character whose attractiveness or interest consists of the inability to perform deeds of bravery, courage or generosity. Tiger puts form, purpose and meaning into his life; Foster waits for something to force him to the pieces together. Tiger in a relatively short time finds the center; Foster chooses to remain on the periphery. • 8. Animal Pollution The environment which we live in is polluted every single day. The carelessness of humans today is further damaging the ecosystem in some ways, more identifiable than others. Factory farming is a system of rearing livestock using intensive methods, by which poultry pigs, or cattle are confined indoors under strictly controlled conditions (Merriam webster). The animals are forced into the participation of the supply and demand through cities and towns. Many may be oblivious to the fact that the animalindustry is a leading factor of pollution. The global movement of intense meat production is negatively affecting climate changes, ocean pollution and the animal food chain. The process of meat production is causing the earth s climate to unnaturally change. Factory farms use a variety of toxic chemicals to feed, grow and execute the animals. One of the chemicals used on factory farms is Carbon Dioxide. Burning fossil fuel (oil and gasoline) releases a considerable amount of carbon dioxide. Fossil fuels are hydrocarbons, primarily coal, fuel, oil or natural gas, formed from the remains of dead plants and animals. It takes, on average 11 times as much fossil fuel to produce a calorie of animal protein as it does to produce a calorie of grain protein. In the end, more carbon dioxide is released during the production of meat rather than the manufacturing of vegetables and plants (Peta, p.1) Another toxic chemical that is often released into the atmosphere because of factory ... • 10. The Progression Of Truths Within A Taxonomy An Essay on the Progression of Truths in a Taxonomy To begin understanding whether or not science progresses towards greater truths, truth must first be defined. It is the quality or state of conforming to fact or reality.1 As such a greater truth is one which better conforms to reality. Through scientific revolutions scienceprogresses towards a taxonomy of greater truths. To accept this one must first understand that truths exist in science, that there are greater truths which replace falsified truths, and that science is continually building its way towards those greater truths through revolutions. For the purpose of this essay a scientific revolution is as Kuhn describes the shift from one accepted paradigmto a new one where a paradigm is considered a distinct set of concepts and theories. Science seeks to discover and explain the objective realities of our world and universe through these concepts and theories. Throughout history theories have been proposed, accepted, and replaced. This is the one constant of science in the long run; that it is always improving upon itself; our bank of knowledge is increasing. While there are periods of regression, today the world is definitively more scientifically advanced then it was a millennia ago. But why is it that we consider todays accepted paradigms to be true and the paradigms from antiquity false? The more we believe in a paradigms propositions and depend on them for performing tasks in reality, the truer they become ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Effects Of Violent Video Games On Children s Behavior The effect of violent video games on children s behavior has been the major concern of numerous researchers over the last several decades. Indeed, a great number of researches conducted by psychologists show that regular exposure to violent video games has both long term and short term negative effects on a player s behavior. Aggressiveness and lack of empathy are considered to be two main outcomes of constant playing games with violent content. However, it should be noted that the content is not the only criteria that should be taken into account when measuring games effects on behavior. Indeed, much attention should be paid to the difficulty of games and time spent on playing. Thus, a brief overview of studies concerning the violent video games effect and those disproving this idea along with the analysis of other factors affecting children s behavior such as moral standards and family environment will show that violent video games are not principal factors that affect children s behavior and cause child violence. When analyzing different studies proving the idea that all violent video games lead to aggressiveness and violence, it is important to mention that all 3 main types of studies have both advantages and disadvantages. Anderson and Swing distinguished the following types of studies: (a) experimental; (b) cross sectional correlational; and (c) longitudinal ones (Paludi 47). Thus, experimental studies are focused on manipulating exposure to violence via media and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Examples Of Etiquette In The Renaissance Era Tristann Longoria Sargent English IV/ P7 12 March 2015 Behaving Accordingly The Renaissance Era was widely influenced by many of the playwrights and literary geniuses of this time. The way people spoke, acted, or treated others was incredibly different from our societal norms . For each citizen there was a certain level of maturity, poise, and etiquette expected of them. The three social classes consisted of the Clergy( or the church), the nobles and ruling class, and the peasants, merchants, and townspeople. People of the Renaissance era valued extremely different ideas of behavior , romantically, at the table, or even just as everyday common courtesy. The first idea of proper ways to act were believed to be inherited from Greece and Rome. The original idea of etiquette derives from when people started to live together in large groups and little things made people realize that getting along was better and easier than fighting and arguing constantly. • 15. Deepwater Horizon Was An Offshore Drilling Rig Deepwater Horizon was an offshore drilling rig built in 2001 in South Korea by Hyundai Heavy Industries. In September 2009, the rig drilled the deepest oil well in history with a vertical depth of 35,050 feet. An unplanned flow of well fluids into the wellbore can be dangerous as it could cause a blowout which would then cause a fire. In order to prevent this, driller s pump a drilling mud into the well, creating a barrier between the undersea oil and gas and the rig. The safety of the drilling crew relies on a piece of equipment placed on the top of the sea floor called the blowout preventer. This is essential for controlling the well and in an emergency situation preventing a disaster on the platform high above on the sea surface. The blowout preventer is connected to the rig by a large diameter pipe called a riser. If a blowout occurs the blowout preventer is designed to prevent flammable oil and gas travelling up the drilling rig. At 8:45pm on April 20th 2010 a blowout occurred in the well. Oil and gas entered the wellbore undetected, eventually passing above the blowout preventer. Quickly it made its way up the riser towards the Deepwater Horizon and the 126 people on board. Just after 9:40 pm, drilling mud forced upwards by the rising oil and gas suddenly blew out on the rig. Crew members responded by closing the upper annular preventer. This did not work. They then tried to close a pipe ram. This successfully closed the annular space and sealed the well but this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first article, written the day before the election by Michael Barbaro, Ashley Parker and Amy Chozick, was titled, Optimism From Hilary Clinton and Darkness From Donald Trump at Campaign s End . The title of this piece oozed the confidence that Hilary Clinton would win the Presidential Election. The article portrays the election as over, with Hilary Clinton coming out victorious. I feel that the tribute to Dario Escobar was truly the most effective. Escobar is a well known artist born in Guatemala. He is famous for his many abstract ideas for artwork and his theme for many of his work being made of sports gear and some covered in gold leaf. I will prove the effectiveness of Escobar s tribute from the group s presentation and the principles and elements of art used by the group. The group that constructed the tribute to Dario Escobar had a great presentation to support their artwork of how it honored him. They showed us images of actual artwork of Escobar s including the ones they had based... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This group used these elements very well. The shape of their tribute was very unique with the long slim design that grows larger at the end with the soccer ball. The form was a part of it as well because the artwork was 3d. It had a very small depth and width but the height was very tall. The volume was portrayed in a few places like were the gold color meets the dark blue bat or the white hand print is on the black grip. There were several lines in their artwork especially on the soccer ball. To me the color of the artwork stood out including hues of gold, blue, black, white, and purple. The intensity of the gold color stood out to me. I noticed value in the colors were the black was on the dark blue. The project takes up all positive space due to the fact that it has no background but it would be neat to add a large white background to it. The final element of art that was put into this artwork was texture which we can see on the smooth area of the ball and the metal bat. The tribute to Dario Escobar used every single element of art in obvious ways making this a great work of art and tribute to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. The Break With Rome By William Shakespeare The Break with Rome was a process that began around the early 1500 s and is still in play to this day. Many historians studying the topic believe that the causes leading up to the Break with Rome were too complex and that they are of a nature that cannot be listed if you wanted to comprehensively analyze the ultimate cause of the Break with Rome. Thus leading to the causes being described as more of a process through a series of causes and not so much an event . There are many debated causes of the Break between historians that argue over their validity and importance as to whether or not the cause was actually real and had big enough motives behind it to lead on to such a bigger event. The main causes that have been debated over for century s are: the inability of Catherine of Aragonto provide a male Heir for King Henry that he so desperately desired to have, the love obsession with Anne Boleynthat historians believe subsequently led on to Henry wanting to annul his marriage with Catherine with means such as a Leviticus testament from the bible, Pope Clement VII s refusal to grant the annulment for Henry and the fact that Charles V, Catherine s nephew may have had a role in it and Henry s increasing want and desire in his conquest for power and money. All of these causes are believed by many historians to have played a vital role in the process that led to the Break with Rome in 1533. Despite not matching up positions wise, James and Curry will meet in their third consecutive NBA Finals, having split the pair. Just like in a good ol fashion game of 1 on 1, the third game decides the tie break. Positions wise, James and Kevin Durant will be the main story of the finals with Curry and Kyrie Irving holding equal importance. But perhaps the most impactful match up is Klay Thompson and J.R Smith. The Warriors have a big 4, while the Cavaliers have a traditional big 3. Contrary to popular belief, a big 4 is not what the Warriors have had throughout these playoffs. In the postseason, Klay Thompson has averaged a meager 14.4 points per... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The stark contrast between both players may not even be in their pure production level, but rather in their confidence. J.R Smith s confidence seems to be at an all time high. Klay Thompson s seems to be at its lowest point since his rookie and sophomore seasons, if that. Their roles in the offense differ, however. J.R Smith plays about 25 minutes a game, to Klay s 35. Thompson is looked upon to do more for Golden State, which includes but is not limited to: guarding the opposing team s best perimeter player, coming off screens for threes, and a higher volume of shots attempted. However, it is J.R Smith who s production will be more vital. The Cavaliers thankfully have many safety nets for Smith in the event of lackluster play. The addition of Kyle Korver gives Cleveland flexibility at the 2 guard spot, with a deadeye three point shooter who can keep up with the likes of the splash brothers in the long ball department. A defensive liability admittedly, the Cavs also have Iman Shumpert at their disposal. A great defender who plays better off ball defense than Smith, Shump often times has a sporadic offensive game which comes and goes. J.R Smith will be the bearer of tremendous burden. Looked upon to be that fourth scorer for Cleveland s front line, Smith will have to come into the lineup prepared to play smart above all things, and execute at an efficient rate. From aggression and violence to the connection to mood disorders, video games tend to get a bad reputation. However, there are studies that have been done about the possible positive effects of games as well. There are definitely fewer positive studies than negative, but they are out there for those who search them out. • 22. Red Imagery In Macbeth Imagery is defined as visually descriptive or figurative language, especially in a literary work. William Shakespeare is notorious for using strong metaphors in his work to create vivid images in readers minds, especially in his play Macbeth. Using such examples sets a dark tone for the story and allows readers to form their own mental interpretation. In the play, imagery is prevalent through references to blood, animals, clothing, and nighttime, symbolising darkness. Whether these themes are shown through characters actions, speech, or just implied thoughts, they are present and plentiful. The color red is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, passion, love, and most notably, blood. In Macbeth, there is real bloodshed from death, but it is also as a symbol for harsh deeds. Shakespeare uses sharp blood red imagery because it is easy to visualize for readers since they are so familiar with the color. One of the boldest references in the play occurs in Act II, scene II when Lady Macbeth replies to Macbeth s admission of guilt. Here, she also admits to having blood on her hands, and the stain which later comes back to haunt her is revealed. Her line My hands are of your color but I shame to wear a heart so white. strongly portrays imagery because the reader can see the defined line between white, purity, and red, sin. The line comes off as Lady Macbeth s first real cry for help, and readers can see her begin to crumble. Although their hands are not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As many people are taught to have a positive outlook, it might not be until one practices meditative rituals that one realizes that there are aspects of life where possible pleasure is absent. It is also important to recognize that suffering is an unavoidable result of changes in life. Anything that brings joy must end at some time and that ending will inevitably bring pain. Suffering can be sorted into three categories: Duhkha duhkha, vipariṇāma duḥkha, and saб№ѓskДЃraduḥkha. Duhkha duhkha is about physical suffering such as sickness, injury, death, etc. These are the pains that Buddha first saw when he left his palace, before seeking enlightenment. Vipariṇāma duḥkha refers to the suffering that results in change. Since the world is constantly changing, one can never be certain as to their happiness for the next day, and the day after that. This uncertainty of happiness is an absence of pleasure in and of itself. Saб№ѓskДЃraduḥkha, in common terms, can be summed up as all good things come to an end . By 1631, Rembrandt had established such a good reputation that he received several assignments for portraits from Amsterdam. As a result, he moved to that city and into the house of an art dealer, Hendrick van Uylenburgh. This move eventually led, in 1634, to the marriage of Rembrandt and Hendrick s greatniece, Saskia van Uylenburg. This was obviously a marriage for love. Although she came from a good family (her father had been burgomaster of Leeuwarden), Saskia was an orphan and was probably not very wealthy. She lived with her sister in Frisia and did not have many grand connections in Amsterdam. These events, however, are widely disputed. In 1639, Rembrandt and Saskia moved to a prominent house in the Jodenbreestraat in the Jewish quarter, which later became the Rembrandt House Museum. Although they were affluent the couple had several setbacks in their personal life. Three of their children died shortly after birth. Only their fourth child, a son, Titus, who was born in 1641, survived into adulthood. Saskia died in 1642 soon after Titus s birth, probably from tuberculosis. After her death he began an affair with Titus s nurse, a widow called Geertje Dircx. This ended in a lawsuit. Geertje claimed that Rembrandt had broken his promise to marry her, and demanded that the council force him to marry her. • 27. History of Christianity and the Christian Church 1)Paul s main message was that through Jesus, God would give pardon to those who trusted and believed him. He also believed that people can begin the process of salvation present in their own life. He spoke of agape. This is unconditional love. He believed all of Christian concern circled around this. Jesus s teachings are more about the life her and now. So when he talked about the Kingdom of Heaven, he was thinking of a kingdom here on earth, while Paul thought more about a metaphorical kingdom of people who believe. Another big difference is that Paul believed people are justification by faith; while Jesus focused on doing things repenting, being baptized in order to be justified. Jesus spoke to Jesus; Paul spoke to Gentiles, so the law Moses wasn t as important. 2)In the year 800, Pope Leo named Charlemagne the Holy Roman Empire. This upset the Byzantine emperor because the Byzantines had stood up to barbarians and upheld the faith for years and they didn t want a western Emperor over them. Things continued to get worse and in 1054, church split into two: Rome Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Catholics. Things that contributed to the schism were the fact that the Roman Catholics tended to be in the west and the Orthodox in the east, and as time went on language differences got in the way. Her classroom is located within Donahue Academy which is located in Ave Maria, Florida. The classroom had a total of 14 students. The children cover every basic subject everyday such as science, math, writing, reading, and they also practice their handwriting. Since this is a Catholic school the children also have daily mass along with daily religion studies. When I first walked into the classroom the children were hard at work. They were all spread throughout the classroom sitting on various rugs throughout the classroom working on their writing. The students in the class had the opportunity to work alone or with partners. Mrs. Rosser was fully engaged with the students when I walked into the classroom. She was chatting with the students about their stories and helping them brainstorm in order to extend their stories. Mrs. Rosser promptly greeted me and told me to make myself comfortable. She then quickly got back to helping the students with their stories. I felt that Mrs. Rosser s classroom was set up efficiently. Her desk is set up where she has a clear view of all of her students. Although when I was in her classroom for my observationshe was never at her desk. She was up and moving around the classroom during my entire observation period. The student s desks were all set up in the center of the classroom in clusters. The only problem with some of the children s desks were that they don t face the front white board so they would need to turn completely around in their chairs to see. Although it seemed that Mrs. Rosser typically had the students come to the front rug in front of the white board while she taught. That way the children didn t have any issues with having to turn around in their chairs. I felt that Mrs. Rosser s educational philosophy was that she wanted to create a really amazing classroom community. I loved how she referred to all of her students as friends. An example to her calling all of her students friends, she would say, Gather around friends! Mrs. Rosser is one of the most positive teachers I have ever experienced. Irene Tsakiri Despoina Kalaitzidou Workshop in Critical Writing: Poetry 10 May 2016 Discussing and Comparing Poems About War This essay discusses the poems The Soldier by Rupert Brooke and Returning, We Hear the Larks by Isaac Rosenberg. What I wish to argue is that the speaker tries to evoke feelings of patriotism in the first poem, and simultaneous but contrasting feelings of horror and hope in the latter one. Both poems have war and death as their main themes, yet differ significantly from each other. In terms of structure, The Soldier is composed of two stanzas and it is written in iambic pentameter. The blind man described in line 13 and the girl in line 15 could be identified as silent personas. The poem s historical context is the First World War, to which the poet, Isaac Rosenberg, was sent with the English Army. His experience was probably what inspired the poem s theme. The audience of the poem is every reader, but it could also be a person close to the speaker. Rosenberg s personal experience of the war, could also indicate that he is the speaker and that the poem could be considered autobiographical. Moreover, one could say that the poem looks like it could be en extract from a diary entry, or even a creative letter to a loved one. The tone of the poem is melancholic, sombre, serious and tense, but a little hopeful as well. Figurative language is excessively used in this poem. There are two similes, which facilitate the comparison of the song that dropped with a blind man s dream on the sand (13) and with a girl s dark hair (15). Metaphors are ample in the poem, for example when they are dragging these anguished limbs (4), the poison blasted track (5), the fact that death could drop from the dark (10) and that no ruin lies there (15). In line 3 there is personification of the sinister threat [that] lurks there and the [m]usic showering on [their] faces (9). There could also be an allusion to the Bible, when the speaker uses the biblical terms hark! (7) and [l]o! (8), while the strange joy (7) described, could be considered an oxymoron. They are deciding whether or not to make an abortion, which is indirectly implied on the narrative. Hemingway has a specific way of creating the story that it becomes apparent that every description he used is a symbol of the plot. Through this way of storytelling, Hemingway created an adamant and very relatable narrative that exposes human truths, emotions, and the confusion that is inherent in the different situations and conditions which people have over their lives. The plot opens with an extended description of the scenery found in the setting of the story. As the characters will travel by train, Hemingway used this to formulate the description of the setting and to organize the concept of the story. He orders two beers from the bartender one for him and one for the girl, whom he calls Jig. It is implied that the American and the girl have a relationship, and they are traveling somewhere to do something. They talk about an operation, which the American tells the girl that she will feel better and they will live happily together afterward. The American also shows the girl how much he cares for her, and the girl looks at the scenery of the station. They argue, and the girl feels tired, and this makes the American to stop talking. The story ends ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Its power and respect emanated from the belief that he had been chosen by a God or holy source. Generally, monarchies has always been associated to a religion (Catholicism, in the case of Spain). It wasn t until the French Revolution, at the end of XVIIIth century, when some countries started change the way they were governed. The second form of government created was the Parliamentary Monarchy, in which the king had some powers and the legislative was hold by the Parliament. This form was set in the UK, but before the official stabilization there were some precedents: around the XVIIth century, the king had a group of people that recommended him what to do concerning politics and legal things. This small group ended up forming the Parliament. The third and last variant was the keeping of the Absolute Monarchy. It were popular in countries like Spain, Italy or Russia. The Impact of the New Deal on the United States Essay The Impact of the New Deal on the United States The Great Depression, an era of great poverty, misery, and hopelessness, proved to be one of the most dreadful time periods in all of America s history. This reform insured each bank deposited up to $2,500 a day and consequently, banks gained more trust from their investors. As money once again started to flow, it helped stabilize the financial situation of the country. After achieving this goal without difficulty, Roosevelt issued an executive order to create the Farm Credit Administration. The purpose of this was to provide low interest, long term loans to farmers. Farmers then paid off mortgages and overdue taxes, bought back lost farms, and purchased the needed seed, fertilizer, and equipment. The outcome of this program was quite obvious; farming would once again flourish and thus, more food available for the American people. In April, Roosevelt asked Congress to create a similar program expect for non farming personal. Congress without hesitation passed the Home Owners Loan Corporation. It addressed the problem to those who could not pay off their mortgage. By 1936 it saved at least a million American families by granting them low interest, long term mortgage loans. Those around me, as devout orthodox Jews, tend to view those different than them as strange and odd often times even judging them negatively. Personally, I see this as a large problem, since as much as we would like to separate ourselves from those different than us to avoid negative influences, we do live in a society that includes a multitude of religions, cultures, and ways of life. I believe wholeheartedly that each person can learn an immense amount from everyone they come across, and by continuing our habit of blocking off most of society with negative words, we are cutting ourselves off from a lifetime of growth and possibility. Yes, others may be different than us. They may have different views, different beliefs, and different ways of dealing with life. But like us, they are human with hopes, dreams, heartbreaks, desires, and passions. They each have a wealth of knowledge and wisdom from the two year old boy to the ninety seven year old grandma. And in my humble opinion, I strongly believe that respect should be given to everyone, no matter their race, religion, or station in life. I must credit my father ZTL and my mother, who both raised me to see the good in others and respect every human being I come across. They taught me that just because I had my beliefs, did not mean I had a right to judge others for believing differently. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Research Paper On Shakespeare I assume everyone already knows that Shakespeare invented many new words in the English language, but have you ever stopped and thought about just why he did it? People don t make up new words for no reason; they make them up because there is a need. In Shakespeare s case, that need was because of his time period and the ideas he wanted to express. Let me explain: Shakespeare wrote his plays, poems, and other works during the time of Elizabethan England. This is a very interesting time period in history because many new revolutions and reforms were taking place. The most important one regarding Shakespeare was the Italian Renaissance. You see, Early Modern English which is what we call the English that Shakespeare wrote in was very messy regarding its structure and vocabulary when you compared it to languages such as Latin and Greek. When Shakespeare was starting to write his works, the English language was going through incredible changes, absorbing and integrating words from other languages due to the events that were happening in the 1600s such as colonization, exploration, war, and others. There was a huge return to philosophical thinking in Italy and a new way of expressing ideas that we today call the Renaissance. Of course the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Strengths And Weaknesses Of Audio Lingual Method Nowadays, although teaching and learning English has constantly changed, the Audio Lingual Method still plays a significant role in many English classes around the world. According to Larsen Freeman (2000), the Audio Lingual Method was developed from an interesting idea that behavioral psychology and linguistic conventions are closely related to each other. Thus, this method aims to enhance learners ability by overlearn and habit formation. The goal of this method is to help the students to be able to communicate in the target language. In order to achieve this purpose, the Audio Lingual Method contains the following characteristics. Firstly, contextualized dialogs are utilized to present new vocabulary and structures in class. Secondly, the conversations are learned through drills which are considered as an integral part of the Audio Lingual Method. In my own teaching, backward build up drill, repetition drill and substitution drill contribute importantly the success of students learning. Next, grammar rules are induced from examples. By this approach, students personalize and use the grammatical points naturally like the way they acquire the native language. Based on above features, it is believed that the Audio Lingual Method has a part in the communicative development of students in the target language. Next, this ... The Theme Of Revolt Of The Rats By Reed Blitzerman Revolt of the Rats by Reed Blitzerman is a suspense novella following two storylines: one is set in Depression era America and the second in the automotive industry in the 1990s. His primary motivation for considering Motomax is that he wants to be near Beezor Wasikowska, the woman of his infatuation. The Frampton plant readily employs Kahle, and thus begins his new career as a factoryrat. Important aspects of the story are unclear, namely Kahle s ability to see auras, his military background and what his story had to do with Eli s. At times, I wondered if some details and characters were forgotten in the course of the writing. Because of this, the story had a stilted, perfunctory quality that made it difficult to read and confusing to navigate. It read like a first draft, not a finished product. The end of the story never resolved the problems or questions set by the premise. I understand that this is the first book of a series, but a clear, resolved ending is more satisfying to a reader than a blunt one. Since Revolt of the Rats needs professional editing and a tighter rein to keep the plot on track, I would not recommend it to readers, so I give it 2 out of 4. The editing and typesetting issues were the main reasons I could not give this book a higher rating, but the undeveloped nature of the story took it down another rating point. The theme of Revolt of the Rats has the potential to appeal to an audience living in a capitalist economy and certainly will once the story is polished, professionally edited and developed into a finished ...
