Ever Clear Again Narrative
Shit! The smell of dirt and the fresh morning dew wakes me up from my drunken slumber.
Struggling to get up, I notice two German Shepherds lying next to my body; they were just as
confused as I was, how did we end up here? As I drive home, I think to myself What happened
last night? I m so dead when I get home. I stumble down my driveway, regretting every moment
that I could some what remember. I then, make a pact to never EVER drink Ever Clear again!
Hungry Haven, my first job as an adult ... this job is just the worse; the smell of burning grease
from the fryers and grill, strong scents of the diluted cleaners in the back, the frantic shrills from
hungry customers waiting to be next in line to order their food. Although I hate my job,... Show

Age In Instinct Attention Analysis
The role of age in distinct attention mechanisms

Spring 2016
The role of age in distinct attention mechanisms
Attention is known as a behavioral and cognitive process of selectively concentrating awareness on
a specific object, issue, or activity, while not focusing on other potential stimuli from the
environment. While the human brain has great capabilities for processing information, it also has
limited capacity. A person cannot attend to all the information being received through all the five
senses at one time. And this capacity is reduced as people get older. Older people tend to have
decreased brain activity in the the brain areas that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Standardized low resolution brain electromagnetic tomography showed that the age related decline
in preparatory activity was associated with reduced activation of medial and superior frontal gyrus
and anterior cingulate gyrus. The results suggest that age related differences in these prefrontal
brain areas reflect declines in preparatory attention and gating of subsequent task related speech
information, especially under conditions of divided attention. These findings may reflect
mechanisms relating to impaired speech perception by older people in cocktail party listening
situations ( Getzman, Golob, Wascher 7). Older adults also preformed significantly worse than the
younger group when they first had to determine the speaker of the target stimulus, focus their
attention on this speaker, and then identify the target company value among the concurrent values.
This nicely reflects the everyday experiences of elders who often report that they can hear that
something has been spoken but cannot understand what has been

The Way And The Truth
Introduction What someone believes is an extremely important part of their life. It shapes how
that person thinks, acts, what is said. In short, it influences everything in that person s life. Jesus
Christ is what influences all of my life; He is the foundation on which I place everything else.
He is according to John 14:6 (NIV, 1984.), the way and the truth and the life . Life is important
because it is the way in which we interact with God s world and His people. The teachings of
Dewey, Hirsch, and Aquinas are few philosophical ideas I would incorporate in the classroom by
helping students learn through experience, teaching morals as well as academics, and valuing both
Christian and secular material. Worldview and Philosophy of... Show more content on

The bible is what I base my entire beliefs out of. In the Bible it mentions several times about
teaching and training children. Parents are the main teachers and trainers of their children.
However, a teacher should work in communion with parents and other authorities such as the
church to help in teaching children. Since Jesus calls himself Truth then, according to Zacharias
(1994), To restate Jesus absolute claim that He is the way, the truth, and the life means
categorically that anything that contradicts what He says is by definition false. (pg. 101) This is
what I base my beliefs about truth upon. Philosophy of Schools and Learning Unfortunately, even
though Jesus is the one on whom people should base all truth off from, many do not support that
belief. In this world now, Christian truth must be combined with information and facts from
science and the world we live in. Similar to the dualistic views of Thomas Aquinas (Braley, 2003.
pg. 27), educational truth must come from a combination of biblical truths and scientific facts. He
(Aquinas) held that there can be only one truth, part of which is assessable to human reason and
part of which requires faith (Moore Bruder, 2008. pg. 92). We need to take both secular and
biblical views into account in the classroom. For example, if a class were discussing in

The Nightmare Before Christmas At The El Capitan Theatre
When I heard we were going to the The Nightmare Before Christmas at the El Capitan Theatre, I
was ecstatic. This was one of my favorite childhood movies and I had not seen it in maybe 10
years. The night started with us boarding the coach bus which was playing the movie Kidnap
starring Halle Berry. This was most of us on the bus seeing the movie for the first time so we
were very into it. Since we are a bunch of film/TV students we easily all became instant critics of
the film. Not Ms. Halle, Ms. Halle is amazing as always. It was the writing and the scenarios that
she was placed in that didn t seem plausible. This made the ride over very entertaining, a bunch
of students reacting and laughing to situations that are dire in the movie. We were very invested.

William Gibson s The Miracle Worker
In the book The Miracle Worker by William Gibson, Gibson utilizes diverse dramatic technique,
props and finger spelling in order to represent the internal and external conflicts between Helen
Keller, and Annie Sullivan throughout the play. Annie, the miracle worker who used to be blind has
an external conflict with Helen, who is blind, deaf, and partly mute. However, throughout the act,
the relationship starts to build and develops to a happy ending. Annie, who lost her loving brother
Jimmie, suffers from flashbacks which she cannot easily overcome the tragic memories. However,
throughout the book, Annie starts to overcome the bad memories by the interaction with Helen. In

Annie! Annie, don t let them take me Annie!...But this voice is real, in the present, and Annie
comes up out of her horror, clearing her head with a final shake (22). This depicts Annie s
painful memories about her dead brother Jimmie on the past. It is inferable that Jimmie was
taken from some stranger and this was a very horrible event for Annie since the bad memory
even comes out in her dream. Addition to that it is also inferable that Annie regrets herself for
not saving her brother no matter how bad her condition was also. The memory of the tragic past
remains to be her inner conflict. I crawled in her like a drowned rat, I thought I died when
Jimmie died, that I d Never again come alive. (20). This quote is another example of Annie s
tragic memory of the moment when Jimmie died but she got to continue with her living. For
Annie, this memory of her loving brother dead will be never be forgotten in her life. This inner
conflict which Annie will carry through her whole life leads her to be more perseverance and
caring characteristics when educating Helen to communicate. In act 2, Annie continues with her
inner conflict of flashback of her brother Jimmie, but she now gets stronger to overcome the past

An Analysis Of Mary Wollstonecraft s A Vindication Of The...
The Age of Enlightenment encouraged writers to break away from conventional thought and
express their ideas and opinions through reasoning. Mary Wollstonecraft s A Vindication of the
Rights of Women and Marquis de Sade s Philosophy in the Bedroom examine the conventional
norms in their respective author s contemporary societies. In both accounts, Wollstonecraft and
Sade prescribe the path humanity should take in order to improve the human condition. Marquis de
Sade develops an unconventional philosophy by claiming that cruelty is nature s most basic quality.
He supports the idea that humans are born with the notion of cruelty and thus, should embrace their
destructive instincts. According to him, might is right because in the state of... Show more content

However, she focuses on the importance and value of education, believing that the most perfect
education...is such an exercise of the understanding as is best calculated to strengthen the body
and form the heart (Wollstonecraft 134). Like her Enlightenment contemporaries, she believed
that reason was a virtue since it empowered the mind to think freely and independently. Reason
allowed one to truly express his or her ideas. The best way to cultivate such reasoning was to
become educated. Thus, both men and women should be educated for the betterment of society as
a whole since both sexes would then be able to contribute a broader range of ideas. However, the
general consensus amongst her contemporaries in 18th century England was that women were
more artificial, weak characters...and, consequently, more useless members of society
(Wollstonecraft 134). Women were expected to lead domesticated lives and become dependent on
men. They were considered as housewives, not expected to contribute to society or stand out in
anyway. Therefore, women did not have the same amount of access to a proper education as men
did since they were not expected to be involved with forming their own reasoning and opinions. As
a result, women only learned what they perceived and experienced from the world, left to play
guess work rather than make observations and draw conclusions and speculations. Without critical

Environmental Pollution To Save The Environment
Whether individuals choose to believe in it or not, environmental destruction is a very real and
apparent social problem that needs to be addressed before it is too late to save the Earth.
Numerous factors such as the climate change, disposal of waste, deforestation, and the quality of
air and water impact the destruction of our world. The majority of the blame for our Earth s
deterioration falls on the humanrace, however, some of the blame does fall on industries, that for
example may improperly dispose of their waste. Because of the actions and behaviors of humans
as a whole, the environment is suffering irreversible damage. The small population of people that
do advocate for change or engage in environment friendly activities is not enough to help fix the
environment alone. Drastic changes need to start being made if the human race wants a chance at
saving our environment. This change is urgent because problems are not linear. If you inflict
enough damage, you ve shifted the planet into a whole new state and the damage spirals out of
control (1). Examples of this detrimental damage are demonstrated in The Guardiannews article,
Humans have destroyed a tenth of Earth s wilderness in 25 years study, where the effects of
deforestation are focused on. By invading the wilderness, many animals habitats are disrupted,
consequently putting them in danger of becoming extinct. Once this habitat is disturbed and
destroyed, it is officially gone and cannot be restored. Humans

Management Plan For Risk Management
Risk Management
Risk management is the identification, assessment, and prioritization of risks followed by
coordinated and economical application of resources to minimize, monitor, and control the
probability and impact of unfortunate events or to maximize the realization of opportunities. Risk
management s objective is to assure uncertainty does not deflect the endeavor from the business
goals. Risks can come from various sources: e.g., uncertainty in financial markets, threats from
project failures (at any phase in design, development, production, or sustainment life cycles), legal
liabilities, credit risk, accidents, natural causes and disasters as well as deliberate attack from an
adversary, or events of uncertain or unpredictable root cause. The risk management plan should
propose applicable and effective security controls for managing the risks. A good risk management
plan should contain a schedule for control implementation and responsible persons for those actions.
It is important to assess and measure different types of risks that the company can face prior to
stepping foot in a different country. The three broad types of risk are: 1) Political Risk, 2)
Economic Risk and 3) Cultural Risk. Political, social, economic, cultural, and legal and government
issues need to be taken care of before launching any brand in any country.
1)Political Risk:
Political risk is a type of risk faced by investors, corporations, and governments. It is a risk that can

The Powerful Emotions Presented By D H Lawrence
The powerful emotions presented by D H Lawrence In Piano are loss and nostalgia of his
mother and childhood, which are brought up at a wrong moment by a memory. The poet,
similarly to Sylvia Plath, wrote this poem when he was experiencing these emotions after he lost
his mother who he was very close with. The loss is first presented in the lines, A child sitting
under the piano, in the boom of the tingling strings And pressing the small, poised feet of a
mother who smiles as she sings. This creates a very vivid picture and therefore later on in the
poem causes the speaker to miss his mother and childhood. By pressing the small, poised feet the
speaker was helping and interacting with his mother, who was dear and kind to him as suggested
by the words, ...a mother who smiles This emphasises that she loved him and tried to enjoy every
moment with his son. This sentence is very light and gentle, just like a memory. However in the
next sentence the speaker uses a word betrays me back which suggest that he does not want to
remember the past at that certain moment, however the wave like nostalgia, which was summoned
by the sounds of piano, drowns him in the memories of his past which we can see in the lines, ...till
the heart of me weeps to belong To the old Sunday evenings at home, with winter outside And
hymns in the cozy parlor, the tinkling piano our guide. The metaphorical winter represents danger
outside his house and the cozy parlor safety inside

Water Pollution For Drinking Water
INTRODUCTION
All citizens should have access safe water. On January 9, 2014, nearly 300,000 citizens in the
greater Charleston area were confronted with a situation where their water was no longer safe. This
devastating situation was the result of a chemical spill of 4 methylcyclohexanemethanol (MCHM)
into the Elk River just upstream from the West VirginiaAmerican Water (WVAW) treatment plant.
In response to the spill, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was asked to
determine a safe level of MCHM in the drinking water. Using available toxicity data, which was
minimal, the CDC determined the safety level to be 1 ppm MCHM. Soon after the CDC followed
with a warning that out of an abundance of caution pregnant women should not drink the water.
This message, rightfully, resulted in much community concern and anxiety. This warning generated
concerns about other vulnerable populations, such as young children, pregnant women who had
drank the water before the warning, and about the long term health effects on babies born exposed
pregnant women.
This memo addresses safe levels of exposure for pregnant women and families contemplating
having children, as well as the health effects on pregnancies of the citizens exposed to the chemical
spill. Additionally, this memo discusses the broader context of public health in the community as it
relates to environmental safety and justice.

Summary Of The Pardoner s Tale And Doctor Faustus
From the time when Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides introduced an idea of tragic hero, this
became one of popular element with many writers. Although the element of tragedy was
widespread for many centuries, this classical Greek drama was largely forgotten in Western
Europe from the Middle Ages to the early 16th century. Even so, few of English writers kept
element of tragedywhile creating a character similar to a tragic hero. Two of few English writers
who kept this idea were Geoffrey Chaucer, the writer of The Pardoner s Tale, and Christopher
Marlowe, the writer of Doctor Faustus. The Pardoner s Tale and Doctor Faustus not only had
popular theme of morality during the era when they were written, they also were incorporated with
tragedy, an element that was forgotten by many.
A hamartia is one of the most important traits for tragic hero. In The Pardoner s Tale, the
Pardoner had a hamartia; out of all sins he committed against all his virtuous biblical teachings,
greed caused his tragic death. In the prologue, the Pardoner showed his true characteristic of
greed instead of helping others: By this gaude have I wonne, yeer by yeer, an hundred mark sith
I was pardoner...I preche so as ye han herd bifore, and telle an hundred false japes more (line 101
106). Then later in the poem when he found gold with two pilgrims, he secretly planned with one
of two pilgrims to kill the other, so they can have more share of gold for themselves: ...if I can

Does Polonius Love Ophelia
In the story Hamlet there are two characters who loves Ophelia but in their own way. There s an
event in the beginning of the story where Hamlet shows his love and affections to his love Ophelia.
However, the two characters Laertes (brother) and Polonius (father) react to the situation differently.
Poloniusorders her to stay away and do as he says while Laertes advises Ophelia about men and
Hamlet. From the choices the these character chose reveal how much they truly value dearest
Ophelia. Therefore, I believe polonius loves Ophelia more than Laertes. In Act 1, Polonius is

Then Polonius said not to fall for those gift from Hamlet because it would show she has no self
respect (because it s seducing her), and that he taught her better. However, Laertes actions show
better and greater love for Ophelia. In Act 1, Laertes stays a few minutes with Ophelia talking
about Hamlet. Then he gives her an insight of what young men want and they will say to get it
(sex). To add on, he tells her to be careful and not to do anything reckless/regrettable or it will
ruin her reputation (1.3, 15 44). The summary of this quote shows that Laertes cares and loves
Ophelia more because he stays with her a for a few minutes even though he is running late on
time to leave Benchmark. He stays to warn her of Hamlet and not to expose her body to him.
Then not to give into his desires for her because he may love her but not for long.then he may be

Imports have also declined significantly in importing countries. This was obvious in countries

initial levels. From 2000 to 2003, the Federal Reserve lowered their target rates. They then
raised the funds rate significantly between July 2004 and July 2006. This added to an increase
in number of years to the adjustable rate mortgage rates and made it more expensive for
homeowners. As a result, this may have also contributed to the deflating of the housing bubble.
Gross Domestic Product declined at an in the last two years in the United States. When GDP
collapses, economic growth will also plunge. This is as a result of fewer goods being
manufactured and therefore the rate of exports will reduce. It is said that when exports decrease, it
will not have sufficient funds to accommodate any growth in the economy what so ever. As a
result in the decline in GDP, employment rate will sooner or later begin to drop. As a result of the

Essay On Acquisition Premium
Acquisition premium is defined as the amount the acquirer paid, which is higher than the fair value
of the target company (AASB 3). In the case of the public companies, the acquisition premium is
calculated as a percentage of the market capitalization of the target before the transaction is
announced. Several factors explaining for the existence of acquisition premiums, synergies and
control premium are most commonly identified. Synergies arise when the value of the combined
business is larger than the sum of the values of individual business that would be achieved if not
combined. Synergies can be classified into two classes; one is operational synergy and another is
financial synergy. Operational synergies have effects of reducing... Show more content on

Goodwill on acquisition need to be amortized and recognized as an expense on a straight line
base in the profit and loss statement, during the whole period from the date of acquisition to the
end of period benefits are expected to arise. According to AASB 1013, goodwill must be measured
as the excess beyond the acquisition expenditure over the fair value of the identifiable asset. In
order to determine the amount of goodwill on acquisition, the purchaser needs to recognize the fair
value of all the identifiable assets acquired and the purchase consideration. Fair value of net
identifiable assets equals the sum of company s share equity. Purchase consideration is the amount
that the acquirer is willing to pay for the target company. The goodwill on acquisition is the amount
difference between the purchase consideration and the fair value of company s identifiable assets.
However, the cost directly relate to acquisition such as legal fees, stamp duty and other government
charges, and professional fees need to be included to determine the cost of acquisition.
Similarity and difference between acquisition premium and goodwill Both acquisition premium and
goodwill arise from company combination when one company acquire another company by pay
higher price than what the fair value of the acquired company is. However, goodwill on acquisition

Research Paper On Cows
1. The old abandon mining cave had just enough light to see into, but not enough to reveal all its

The door was cracked and barely open. So, I opened the door the rest of the way to reveal old

The s Defense Of Icons
In Defense of Icons
Throughout history The Church and a number of Christians including myself have found
themselves defending their use of icons against the views of individuals who felt that the icons
were a form of idolatry. These individuals also know as Iconoclasts have a staunch position against
the use of icons. Their position is based on interpretation of the Old Testamentlaw stated in Exodus
20:4 You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens
or on the earth or in the sea . Is this truly contrary to the Old Testament law or is it simply
preserving through time the incarnation of Christ, the Gospels and the history of the Christian
church? I will give you a brief history, and then offer my personal opinion to the subject. Let s
define what is an icon and give a brief history of icons. An icon is sacred art, usually a fresco or
mosaic of Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary, martyred Saints or scenes from the bible that are given
special veneration. This type of sacred art first appeared in the catacombs were the first Christians
would gather to worship during periods of persecution. The scenes depicted were of Christ s
family, gospel stories or stories from the Hebrew scriptures. As Christianitybegan to grow, and
after the Edict of Milan the Emperor Constantine decreed that Christians were no longer to be
persecuted. In response to this new decree, by the fourth century icons became a way of teaching
the Gospel and a way to

Industry Analysis
Chrysler is the largest automobile manufacture in the United States. In the recent years, the
company is facing many obstacles. Chrysler established a poor business strategy and lack of
innovation that resulted in financial problems. From a strategic management view, they were
more unsettled than any other automakers. Their business strategy was focusing on SUV and

efficient vehicles. Another poor business strategy was the historic May 1998, merger deal with a
German automobile Daimler Benz AG (Daimler) It was called the marriage of equals (Garsten,

Personal Statement For Economics
The dynamics of today s constantly evolving world, drawn together by increasingly intertwined
economies and global markets has always intrigued me, ever since I was a young undergraduate.
What fascinated me most about economics was the effort to mathematically model this dynamic
driven in part by human behavior and social tendencies. During my undergraduate study, I got an
opportunity to explore various facets of global markets and got a chance to work on several
academic projects to empirically model economic theories. At the same time, I received the
opportunity to intern at Ernst and Young Financial Services, where I realized the vast potential of
empirical asset pricing and financial modeling. I realized the power of advanced data... Show more

In order to understand this link, I developed a multivariate regression model using panel data
from four South East Asian economies by programming using statistical software Stata. I used a
variety of techniques including bootstrapping, Generalized Least Square regression as well as a
clustered regression model as robustness checks for the model. This opportunity gave me a
chance to explore global financial markets from a macroeconomic perspective. At the same time,
it gave me a chance to get acquainted with the vast literature in the field including the works of
Professor Daron Acemoglu. During my graduate academic and research experience at Columbia, I
developed an inclination towards quantitative finance, particularly asset pricing theories and the
empirics involved in modeling the same. At the same time, while studying Choice theory and
Microeconomics under Professor Ortoleva and Professor Bernard Salanie, I realized the role of
irrational human behavior in driving economic decision processes of institutions. I developed a
curiosity to explore and design innovative empirical techniques to model various elements of
cognitive psychology and social tendencies into traditional asset pricing framework. This curiosity
motivated me to pursue a Ph.D. in Finance and follow a long term career in academic research.

Essay about Deep Sea Fish Adaptions
The discoverer of the titanic, Dr Robert Ballard famously referred to the deep sea as far more
alien than going to mars or the moon. The deep sea is one of the largest virtually unexplored
ecosystems on the planet; it is found at a depth of 1000 fathoms [1] and is subject to adverse
changes in temperature, pressure and light penetration amongst other factors. Therefore as expected

The viper fish (shown in figure 1) possesses large eyes to catch the little light present. This helps
them to locate prey as well as avoid predators. [4] Light cannot penetrate any deeper than the

percentage of deep sea fish are able to create light through the chemical reaction; bioluminescence.
Most of the light created by marine organisms is blue green in colour. As blue light travels best in

Comparing Matthew And Mark s Gospel
Matthew s Gospel was written for a Jewish Christian community. This is evident because Matthew
never explains Jewish tradition. Matthew s Gospel was written in about 85 90 AD. Matthew was
writing to a community in Northern Palestine or Southern Israel. The community that Matthew was
writing the gospel for was in crisis. After the destruction of the temple, the community was trying
to figure out how to be a follower of Jesuswithout the temple or the land. In the gospel, Matthew
writes about a variety of themes. He writes about the conflict and promises made to Israel.
Similarly to Mark s Gospel, Matthew writes about outreach to gentiles and discipleship. Matthew
also includes themes relating to the old testament, church organization, and final judgment. In
Matthew s Gospel, the role of faith is prominent. In the healing stories, the focus is on the
conversation between Jesus and the person he is healing and the secondary people and actions are

Hitler s Propaganda For The Nazi Regime
How significant was propaganda for the Nazi regime in 1933 1945?
The definition of propaganda is information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to
promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view . The Nazis used propaganda as
a method to spread their views and to encourage the Germans to support Hitler. Some of the main
themes of propaganda was to demonise groups of people (races, religions e.c.t); to portray Hitler as
a strong and powerful leader; to emphasise the values of Nazi Germany and to promote the idea of
an Aryan Germany having superiority above all other countries. The person in charge of
propaganda was Josef Goebbels, who Hitler placed in charge of the Ministry of Public
Enlightenment and Propaganda. This department used many methods to enlighten the public for
example different art forms including music and cinema, radio, the press, literature, rallies, posters
and sports.
The Nazis used various different forms of art to subtly put across their messages to the people
and Germany. For example film and theatre which Goebbels thought was essential for influencing
the mass . To do this he made film much more accessible for people so that more people could be
influenced. They did this because they saw the growing interest in film industry, with films
growing in both production and audience. As well as this movies were all regulated by Goebbels
which meant that several foreign films were banned from being watched in Germany.

Reflections of a Soul: The Repercussions of Immorality in The Picture of Dorian Grey.
The Victorian Era was that of high moral intellect. During this time in history society looked upon
its self as having the right to judge anything and anyone who did not share this outlook as being
irrevocably reprehensible. The term Victorian morality has described any values that marry sexual
restraint, a low tolerance for crime and a strict social code of conduct. The Victorian era is
regarded by historians as a time of many contradictions, between the child labor, and prostitution,
yet high society had the constant outward appearance of dignity and restraint. In the novel The

Hysteria In Jane Eyre
Bertha Mason has become a significant literary character since Charlotte BrontГ« included her in
Jane Eyre in 1847. As discussed in chapter one, there was a social correlation between women and
hysteria, and a great fear by women of false committals or home imprisonment by their husbands.
Jane Eyre is a novelthat plays upon that fear and brings these frightening scenarios to life.
BrontГ« s depiction of Bertha Mason also reveals society s views of hysteria. This is an illness
that is difficult to understand, and Jane s descriptions of the hysterical woman have a visceral feel
to them. This chapter will argue that Bertha Mason is a literary response to public debates
concerning mental illness, specifically hysteria in women. It will begin with an analysis of her
character, from her description to her actions. This analysis will show how BrontГ« used the
knowledge available to society to exploit the fear of the mistreatment of wives while using current
treatment methods. This chapter aims to read Bertha Mason not only as the hysterical woman but
as a figurative illustration in the novel.
Charlotte BrontГ« includes the phenomenon of women s hysteria in her novel; inasmuch, she
depicts characters of different social ranks and how they view the one hysterical woman. Before
Bertha Mason introduces as a character to the reader, Jane Eyre describes the distinct laugh she
hears while accompanying Mrs Fairfax to the attics as it was a curious laugh; distinct, formal,
mirthless and a

The Life of Abraham Essay example
God selected Abraham to be the father of the His people. The bible does not directly state why
God selected him, but after reading scripture one can conclude that God selected Abraham due to
his great faith. Abraham s life lends itself as an example to all who desire to walk with God.
EARLY LIFE
Abraham was one of three sons born to Terah in the city of Ur of the Chaldeans. Research
conducted by Elmer Towns indicates that Abraham was younger than his two brothers, Nahor and
Haran, although the bible does not specifically indicate that (56). The exact date of his birth
cannot be determined, but it is estimated to have been between 2100 and 1800 B.C. (Davis, 159).

The bible does not indicate how long Abraham lived in Haran, but it does say that he remained
there until his father s death. At this juncture in Abraham s life, Godagain called out to him.
RESPONSE TO GOD S CALL
In reaction to God s call, Abraham departed Haran enroute to Canaan. At 75 years of age, he
abandoned his way of life assembled his wife, his nephew Lot, his servants, livestock, and
material possessions and moved in accordance with God s leading. Abraham s obedience to God
serves as an example for all believers to emulate. He left his comfort zone of living to follow God
s spoken promises even though there was definite uncertainty as to how they were going to come to
pass.
Abraham sojourned in faith as God led him on his journey through the land of Canaan. He
demonstrated a pattern of reliance on and fellowship with God during his trek by building altars at
stops along the way. Genesis 12:7 points out that God spoke to Abraham in Shechem, promising
the land to his descendants and Abraham constructed an altar. Genesis 12:8 shows that Abraham
communed with God after moving from Shechem to Bethel by erecting an altar. Abraham s
movements through Canaan appear to be at God s leading and as a result of their communion, but
God does not yet give him possession of the land. The land through which he and his family are
traveling is occupied by other inhabitants. A key point here is that while Abraham and his family

Effects Of Mr Keating
The relationship between Mr. Keating, and the boys was the basis for many events in this movie,
such as the reformation of the Dead Poets Society or the D.P.S, and the eventual dismissal of Mr.
Keating. Mr. Keating was a very unique teacher that had a unique teaching method, and these facts
contributed to the new way of thinking the boys had decided on. The boys decided to live like
they never had before and this lead to both sad, and happy events through out the movie. The close
connection that Mr. Keating had with his students made him the perfect scape goat for the schoolto

movie were directly connected to Mr. Keating, the D.P.S, and the boys. The analyzing of the

upon Mr. Keating s quote of to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life from a poem by

He is a hardworking, tough but emotionally drained and withdrawn kind of person. Sometimes he
would try to fake a smile and act numb to put on a facade to everyone. His struggle to find a family
and a home for a normal childhood may have caused him to have a quiet and mild mannered
demeanour which represents repressive anger and anxieties.
General Home Atmosphere
a. As a Family Member: He is trustworthy, hardworking and always puts the needs of others first
before her own. He never had a home to call his own so much that he never felt the love and care
from a family.
b. The Father: They have a very loving and caring relationship to the point that they re dependent
and reliant to each other. It took a long time for the father to recover and cope up with the mother s
departure and had taken the dual role of a mother and father to the children. This dark and
unfortunate moment in their lives made them realize that all they have is each other.
c. The Mother: The case client, Mr. Valdez briefly stated that he never knew his mother and had
felt intense pain and anger for a while because of never having a maternal figure in his life. Time
and the lessons he learned taught him to forgive and forget. If ever God permits him to have the

EDWARDSVILLE It is better to give than to receive. That idiom is often repeated during the
holiday season, and it s one Southern Illinois University Edwardsville s Student Government
exemplified by partnering with The Salvation Army to run an Angel Tree program. The program,
run nationwide by The Salvation Army but administered locally, aims to provide gifts for children
in need. SIU Edwardsville s StudentGovernment made the program at the school open to students,

In previous years, the children opened their presents at the celebration, but that changed this year.
Parents who can t get their kids gifts want to do that, and some kids believe in Santa, which is
awesome, Manibusan explained. So we took the gifts and put them where the kids couldn t see
them, and while they were having fun, the parents could take them to the car. That way they could
give it to them on Christmas like any other family.
The Salvation Army distributes any remaining gifts that were not picked up at the event.
Manibusan and Connors said Student Government looks forward to putting the program on next
year, especially given this year s success. They also said they think it s important for the university.
It s so important for us to give back. It s just a good way that we can reach out and interact with
our community here, Connors said. I also think it s a good way to teach students and these
organizations that it s so important to give back. We ve been given so much by our university.
They give us so many opportunities every day. It s nice to look at that and say I ve been

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Engineered Wood
It is a firmly held belief that hardwood floors are the ultimate in class and sophistication.
Regardless of the type of hardwood used, whether it is ash, oak or maple, wood floors have always
maintained their timelessness and adapted to the changing decors. While traditional hardwood
floors are superior natural floorings, they have certain limiting factors which do not allow their
installation in all the areas of the house, and there are certain regions of the world where such floors
are considered thoroughly impractical. Their higher cost of procurement and installation are some
other prohibiting factors which have given rise to cheaper options like laminates and vinyl, which
are woodlook alikes but made of resins and plastics.
Engineered wood is a relatively newer option which is wood yet does not have the disadvantages
of hardwood. It has gained popularity as a worthy alternative to hardwood floors and in the last
few years more and more owners have chosen engineered wood floors to make their homes
beautiful. To know ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Another advantage of choosing engineered wood is that it is available in prices ranging from
low to high so it is affordable for almost everyone. The prices vary depending on the hardwood

the veneer, more expensive will be the price per square foot. The engineered wood has a life

The formation of the Luray Caverns began 600 million years ago as North America separated from
Europe and Africa. An indent from Alabama to Newfoundland was formed, and an ancient sea
flooded the area. Layers of sediments accumulated on the ocean floor, followed by limestone
sediments from fossilized marine animals and shells. After millions of years, the two layers

Research Paper On Haiti Earthquake
Haiti Earthquake
Have you ever heard of an earthquake so big that hundreds of thousands of people lost their lives,
more than three hundred thousand people were injured, and 1.5 million people became homeless?
If not, let me introduce you to the Haiti Earthquake. This enormous earthquake destroyed many
lives. It was believed to have been caused by the shifting of tectonic plates in the Earth. But, is this
the truth?
In 2010, an earthquake broke out in Haiti. The city was left in ruins, 1.5 million people lost their
homes, and hundreds of thousands of people were either killed or injured. Scientists claim that the
cause of this earthquake was because of slippage along the conservative plate boundary that runs
through Haiti. But, some conspiracy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But, conspiracy theorists think HAARP s purpose is far more sinister than meets the eye, says
Stephanie Pappas, reporter for NBC news. HAARP is believed to use their resources for
weather warfare, which also plays into the role of the thought of HAARP causing the earthquake
in Haiti. Some reasoning that causes this theory is as follows: Just a few hundred miles away
from Haiti is a HAARP array; The earthquake did not occur on a big fault line. This earthquake
happened quite farther south of the North American plate and Caribbean plate. It is rare that a
quake is to occur here, which makes room for conspiracies that HAARP caused it. These are just
two of the many reasons that stem from HAARP s involvement with the Haiti Earthquake.
So how did HAARP cause the earthquake? HAARP has heaters in the Ionosphere. From these
heaters comes ELF (Extremely Low Frequency) waves. These waves are powerful enough, at the
right frequency, to cause vibrations in the Earth, which can lead to an earthquake. One reason as to
why HAARP would want to cause an earthquake is because of the idea that Haiti is an unguarded,
unwanted, low protection country that could make a good place to test an earthquake. It also seems
odd that, since this earthquake was deep in Earth s surface, it only affected

Jetblue s Good Service Quality
ABSTRACT (Isabelle Aultman and Ben Cvek) In any business service quality is going to make or
break the company in the long run. JetBlue has great ideas on how to compete and how to be lower
priced while still gaining profit. Customer and provider gaps are all about what a customer expects,
what a customer perceives, what a customer is willing to accept, what a company understands about
those expectations, a company s communication both internal and external, and the company
systems and processes (Zeithaml, et al.,2013).
Although JetBlue had good service quality in place for the most part, it lacked the proper processes

Additionally, JetBlue targeted large metropolitan areas with high average fares to compete with the
larger airliners. Even small things such as more seats and a more fuel efficient aircraft increased
profits. Things seemed to be running great for JetBlue as they increased the number of destinations.
All of these things kept JetBlue profitable. It seems as though JetBlue has strayed from their
original core values, although, the company seems to be on the way to resolving the issues that
plague them.
STRATEGIC PROFILE (John Beck and Admira Salazar)
Starting Off In the Right Direction
Jet Blue was birthed in 1999 by David Neeleman and went public in 2000 as an independently
owned and operated Airline. Headquarters is located in Long Island, New York with its main base
at John F. Kennedy International Airportwith most of the flights occurring in the United States and
the Caribbean (Docslide, 2015).
From its very essences, JetBlue showed high signs of profitability, initially the company set out
to sell over five and a half million shares at an average of $25 per share. However, the company
actually topped off at $27 dollars selling almost 6 million in shares. Being in the airline industry
means the level of competition is high, so JetBlue wanted to establish itself as a high end airline

Garbage Disposal If I Have A Septic System
Goal: Answer question: Can I Use a Garbage Disposal if I Have a Septic System?
Total Words in this Document:
Title: Can I Use a Garbage Disposal if I Have a Septic System?
Millions of homeowners around the country are using septic, rather than sewer systems. Whether
their septic system was a choice, or was a necessity due to lack of a shared sewer system, septic
systems provide significant advantages for many who appreciate the environmentally friendly
design, durability, and lower costs.
Septic systems that have been properly installed maintained should last between 20 and 40 years;
many, though, last significantly longer. Regular cleanings, pumpings, and care are necessities for
keeping your septic system running properly. It s also important to make sure that you monitor
what is being sent into the septic system; leaky faucets, items ... Show more content on

Unfortunately, though they are not the best choice for septic systems.
A garbage disposal is used to grind food scraps into tiny pieces, making is easier to dispose of and
process the waste. When you have a septic system, the pieces of food are flushed down the drain,
into your system.
Just as you should avoid sending other solids down the septic system, the garbage disposal poses a
problem when homeowners try to process and dispose of non biodegradable food items, like food
packaging items, or even hard to break down foods, like bones, fruit pits, coffee grounds, or oil and
grease.
These items add up in septic tank, and as the sludge accumulates, it takes away from the full
capacity of the tank. Ideally, the bacteria and treatments will help to break down the components
that are causing the sludge, but as the larger, heavier pieces sink to the bottom more quickly, the
bacteria doesn t have the time to do its

Gum Disease
How Do I Know If I Have Gum Disease?
Gum disease starts with bacteria invading the mouth. It can eventually result in tooth loss because
of the receding tissue that surrounds the teeth and loosens the teeth. Serious gum disease is
preceded by gingivitis, which can be identified by inflamed and bleeding gums. It is important to
know that gingivitis can be reversed and can heal completely by keeping up with brushing and
flossing.
The signs of gum disease are:
Bleeding gums, especially when they are irritated by brushing.
Swollen and tender gums.
Bad breath.
A bad taste in your mouth.
Receding gums.

Bacillus, Mycoplasma, and Escherichia Essay
Bacillus, Mycoplasma, and Escherichia

Finally, the slide is washed again and stained with a counterstain, such as safranin. The counterstain

It is known that Mycoplasma pneumonia causes pneumonia. Escherichia coli causes diseases such

Reverend Mother And The Mother
Contrary to Reverend Mother, home is a site of power contestation for Amina as her urge for
achieving power and control becomes overarching than the emotional attachments or
relationships. Amina is equally blessed with such empowering talents of home making like her
mother. Regarding her home making skills Saleem narrates Nobody ever took pains the way
Amina did. Dark of skin, glowing of eye, my mother was by nature the most meticulous person on
earth. Assiduously, she arranged flowers in the corridors and rooms of the Old Delhi house;
carpets were selected with infinite care. She could spend twenty five minutes worrying at the
positioning of a chair. By the time she d finished with her home making, adding tiny touches here,
making fractional alterations there, Ahmed Sinai found his orphan s dwelling transformed into
something gentle and loving (Rushdie 67). Despite her such home making skills, she would fail
in positioning herself at her own house, in the Methwold Estate, in presence of Reverend Mother.
By overpowering her, Reverend Mother sat at the head of the dining table, doling out food (139)
and she doled out the curries and meatballs of intransigence, dishes imbued with the personality of
their creator; Amina ate the fish salans of stubbornness and the birianis of determination (139).
Thus, she enraged Amina and triggered her will to take control that she expressed by saying, I m
fed up. If nobody in this house is going to put things right, then it s

The Forbidden City And 19th Century Merchants
How did changing energy conditions affect the design of the homes of powerful people comparison
between the Forbidden City and 19th century merchants houses in Liverpool
Introduction
This essay will discuss the similarities and differences between The Forbidden City and 19th
century merchants house in Liverpool, in terms of the material used, the scale of the buildings, the
structural engineering designs and the decorations, despite being in two completely different
energy conditions.
The Forbidden City, one of the most famous and important buildings in China, was the imperial
palace from the Ming dynasty to the end of the Qing dynasty (1420 1912). It is located in the centre
of Beijing, China, now serves as the Palace Museum. When Hongwu Emperor s son Zhu Di
became the emperor, he moved the capital from Nanjing to Beijing and began to build the
Forbidden City in 1406[1]. As a palace, the Forbidden City is incredibly huge, it is 961 metres
(3,153 ft.) from north to south and 753 metres (2,470 ft.) from east to west [1], it consists 980
buildings [2] and was designed to be the centre of the old city of Beijing. The Forbidden City has a
huge impact on the cultural and architecture development in the eastern world, as the culmination
of the two thousand years development of Chinese architecture culture and one of the most
important symbols of China, it impacts the eastern Asia or even the entire eastern world.

Age In Instinct Attention Analysis The role of age in distinct attention mechanisms Srishti Mittal N15308460 Cognitive Neuroscience Professor Clayton Curtis Spring 2016 The role of age in distinct attention mechanisms Attention is known as a behavioral and cognitive process of selectively concentrating awareness on a specific object, issue, or activity, while not focusing on other potential stimuli from the environment. While the human brain has great capabilities for processing information, it also has limited capacity. A person cannot attend to all the information being received through all the five senses at one time. And this capacity is reduced as people get older. Older people tend to have decreased brain activity in the the brain areas that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Standardized low resolution brain electromagnetic tomography showed that the age related decline in preparatory activity was associated with reduced activation of medial and superior frontal gyrus and anterior cingulate gyrus. The results suggest that age related differences in these prefrontal brain areas reflect declines in preparatory attention and gating of subsequent task related speech information, especially under conditions of divided attention. These findings may reflect mechanisms relating to impaired speech perception by older people in cocktail party listening situations ( Getzman, Golob, Wascher 7). Older adults also preformed significantly worse than the younger group when they first had to determine the speaker of the target stimulus, focus their attention on this speaker, and then identify the target company value among the concurrent values. This nicely reflects the everyday experiences of elders who often report that they can hear that something has been spoken but cannot understand what has been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Way And The Truth Introduction What someone believes is an extremely important part of their life. It shapes how that person thinks, acts, what is said. In short, it influences everything in that person s life. Jesus Christ is what influences all of my life; He is the foundation on which I place everything else. He is according to John 14:6 (NIV, 1984.), the way and the truth and the life . Life is important because it is the way in which we interact with God s world and His people. The teachings of Dewey, Hirsch, and Aquinas are few philosophical ideas I would incorporate in the classroom by helping students learn through experience, teaching morals as well as academics, and valuing both Christian and secular material. Worldview and Philosophy of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The bible is what I base my entire beliefs out of. In the Bible it mentions several times about teaching and training children. Parents are the main teachers and trainers of their children. However, a teacher should work in communion with parents and other authorities such as the church to help in teaching children. Since Jesus calls himself Truth then, according to Zacharias (1994), To restate Jesus absolute claim that He is the way, the truth, and the life means categorically that anything that contradicts what He says is by definition false. (pg. 101) This is what I base my beliefs about truth upon. Philosophy of Schools and Learning Unfortunately, even though Jesus is the one on whom people should base all truth off from, many do not support that belief. In this world now, Christian truth must be combined with information and facts from science and the world we live in. Similar to the dualistic views of Thomas Aquinas (Braley, 2003. pg. 27), educational truth must come from a combination of biblical truths and scientific facts. He (Aquinas) held that there can be only one truth, part of which is assessable to human reason and part of which requires faith (Moore Bruder, 2008. pg. 92). We need to take both secular and biblical views into account in the classroom. For example, if a class were discussing in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This was most of us on the bus seeing the movie for the first time so we were very into it. Since we are a bunch of film/TV students we easily all became instant critics of the film. Not Ms. Halle, Ms. Halle is amazing as always. It was the writing and the scenarios that she was placed in that didn t seem plausible. This made the ride over very entertaining, a bunch of students reacting and laughing to situations that are dire in the movie. We were very invested. It is inferable that Jimmie was taken from some stranger and this was a very horrible event for Annie since the bad memory even comes out in her dream. Addition to that it is also inferable that Annie regrets herself for not saving her brother no matter how bad her condition was also. The memory of the tragic past remains to be her inner conflict. The Age of Enlightenment encouraged writers to break away from conventional thought and express their ideas and opinions through reasoning. In both accounts, Wollstonecraft and Sade prescribe the path humanity should take in order to improve the human condition. However, she focuses on the importance and value of education, believing that the most perfect education...is such an exercise of the understanding as is best calculated to strengthen the body and form the heart (Wollstonecraft 134). Like her Enlightenment contemporaries, she believed that reason was a virtue since it empowered the mind to think freely and independently. Reason allowed one to truly express his or her ideas. The best way to cultivate such reasoning was to become educated. Thus, both men and women should be educated for the betterment of society as a whole since both sexes would then be able to contribute a broader range of ideas. However, the general consensus amongst her contemporaries in 18th century England was that women were more artificial, weak characters...and, consequently, more useless members of society (Wollstonecraft 134). Women were expected to lead domesticated lives and become dependent on men. They were considered as housewives, not expected to contribute to society or stand out in anyway. Therefore, women did not have the same amount of access to a proper education as men did since they were not expected to be involved with forming their own reasoning and opinions. As a result, women only learned what they perceived and experienced from the world, left to play guess work rather than make observations and draw conclusions and speculations. • 10. Environmental Pollution To Save The Environment Whether individuals choose to believe in it or not, environmental destruction is a very real and apparent social problem that needs to be addressed before it is too late to save the Earth. Numerous factors such as the climate change, disposal of waste, deforestation, and the quality of air and water impact the destruction of our world. The majority of the blame for our Earth s deterioration falls on the humanrace, however, some of the blame does fall on industries, that for example may improperly dispose of their waste. Because of the actions and behaviors of humans as a whole, the environment is suffering irreversible damage. The small population of people that do advocate for change or engage in environment friendly activities is not enough to help fix the environment alone. Drastic changes need to start being made if the human race wants a chance at saving our environment. This change is urgent because problems are not linear. If you inflict enough damage, you ve shifted the planet into a whole new state and the damage spirals out of control (1). Examples of this detrimental damage are demonstrated in The Guardiannews article, Humans have destroyed a tenth of Earth s wilderness in 25 years study, where the effects of deforestation are focused on. By invading the wilderness, many animals habitats are disrupted, consequently putting them in danger of becoming extinct. Once this habitat is disturbed and destroyed, it is officially gone and cannot be restored. Humans ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Management Plan For Risk Management Risk Management Risk management is the identification, assessment, and prioritization of risks followed by coordinated and economical application of resources to minimize, monitor, and control the probability and impact of unfortunate events or to maximize the realization of opportunities. Risk management s objective is to assure uncertainty does not deflect the endeavor from the business goals. Risks can come from various sources: e.g., uncertainty in financial markets, threats from project failures (at any phase in design, development, production, or sustainment life cycles), legal liabilities, credit risk, accidents, natural causes and disasters as well as deliberate attack from an adversary, or events of uncertain or unpredictable root cause. The risk management plan should propose applicable and effective security controls for managing the risks. A good risk management plan should contain a schedule for control implementation and responsible persons for those actions. It is important to assess and measure different types of risks that the company can face prior to stepping foot in a different country. The Powerful Emotions Presented By D H Lawrence The powerful emotions presented by D H Lawrence In Piano are loss and nostalgia of his mother and childhood, which are brought up at a wrong moment by a memory. The poet, similarly to Sylvia Plath, wrote this poem when he was experiencing these emotions after he lost his mother who he was very close with. The loss is first presented in the lines, A child sitting under the piano, in the boom of the tingling strings And pressing the small, poised feet of a mother who smiles as she sings. This creates a very vivid picture and therefore later on in the poem causes the speaker to miss his mother and childhood. By pressing the small, poised feet the speaker was helping and interacting with his mother, who was dear and kind to him as suggested by the words, ...a mother who smiles This emphasises that she loved him and tried to enjoy every moment with his son. This sentence is very light and gentle, just like a memory. On January 9, 2014, nearly 300,000 citizens in the greater Charleston area were confronted with a situation where their water was no longer safe. This devastating situation was the result of a chemical spill of 4 methylcyclohexanemethanol (MCHM) into the Elk River just upstream from the West VirginiaAmerican Water (WVAW) treatment plant. In response to the spill, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was asked to determine a safe level of MCHM in the drinking water. Using available toxicity data, which was minimal, the CDC determined the safety level to be 1 ppm MCHM. Soon after the CDC followed with a warning that out of an abundance of caution pregnant women should not drink the water. This message, rightfully, resulted in much community concern and anxiety. This warning generated concerns about other vulnerable populations, such as young children, pregnant women who had drank the water before the warning, and about the long term health effects on babies born exposed pregnant women. This memo addresses safe levels of exposure for pregnant women and families contemplating having children, as well as the health effects on pregnancies of the citizens exposed to the chemical spill. He demonstrated a pattern of reliance on and fellowship with God during his trek by building altars at stops along the way. Genesis 12:7 points out that God spoke to Abraham in Shechem, promising the land to his descendants and Abraham constructed an altar. Genesis 12:8 shows that Abraham communed with God after moving from Shechem to Bethel by erecting an altar. Abraham s movements through Canaan appear to be at God s leading and as a result of their communion, but God does not yet give him possession of the land. Regardless of the type of hardwood used, whether it is ash, oak or maple, wood floors have always maintained their timelessness and adapted to the changing decors. But, is this the truth? In 2010, an earthquake broke out in Haiti. The city was left in ruins, 1.5 million people lost their homes, and hundreds of thousands of people were either killed or injured. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But, conspiracy theorists think HAARP s purpose is far more sinister than meets the eye, says Stephanie Pappas, reporter for NBC news. HAARP is believed to use their resources for weather warfare, which also plays into the role of the thought of HAARP causing the earthquake in Haiti. Some reasoning that causes this theory is as follows: Just a few hundred miles away from Haiti is a HAARP array; The earthquake did not occur on a big fault line. This earthquake happened quite farther south of the North American plate and Caribbean plate. It is rare that a quake is to occur here, which makes room for conspiracies that HAARP caused it. These are just two of the many reasons that stem from HAARP s involvement with the Haiti Earthquake. So how did HAARP cause the earthquake? HAARP has heaters in the Ionosphere. From these heaters comes ELF (Extremely Low Frequency) waves. These waves are powerful enough, at the right frequency, to cause vibrations in the Earth, which can lead to an earthquake. One reason as to why HAARP would want to cause an earthquake is because of the idea that Haiti is an unguarded, unwanted, low protection country that could make a good place to test an earthquake.
