Florence Kelley s Speech On Child Labor Rights
On July 22, 1905, Florence Kelley, motivated by the plight of these young women and children,
affected drastically by the lack of child labor laws, delivered a speech to the National American
Women s Suffrage Association in Philadelphia. Kelley s strategies, including word choice and tone,
persuade her audience to join forces to help free the American children from toil. Beginning her
speech, Kelley applies her credibility by placing statistics regarding the controversy of child labor
laws, revealing that she is informed about this topic. Her credibility has a great connection to her
purpose, she claims that the number of working girls doubled from census to census and girls from
twelve to twenty years are working when they should not have to. Kelley then manifests her concern
over these working girls by explaining that, tonight, while everybody else is snoozing away in bed,
these several thousand little girls will be working in textile mills, (16 17). These words make her
audience feel pity concerning those young girls and are a great reason to act against the unfair laws
and regulations that violate both their human and women s rights, especially when they aren t even
getting paid fairly. By appealing to their emotion Florence Kelley wishes to push the women to act on
her proposal of joining together and helping the poor young girls of their nation. Kelley continues to
approach and influence the women s sentiments and hopefully their actions by including her
scandalized argument that in Georgia there is no restriction whatever! A girl of six or seven years, just
tall enough to reach the bobbins, may work eleven hours by day or by night, (29 31). She decides to
include the bobbins of sewing machines in factories to illustrate how short and how young they are to
be working in dangerous factories where their rights are ignored, girls at that age should worry more
about going to school instead of sacrificing themselves to bring money for bread to their homes. One
would understand that many families are living through poverty due to the economy being at a very
depressing state and they need the most they can do to increase their financial position to survive in
their society, then again, girls should be

In the depths of space you can find my group of scientists, soldiers and me, General Spear commander

Report back to POIU for conclusion. Assigned to: QWERTY S.S. We arrived in the orbit of
Betelgeuse in means to finish our studies on the couple dozen asteroids floating around and be on our
way home empty handed, but we were so wrong. When we set the coordinates to a specific asteroid
that was quite larger than the others it seemed like the same old coordination skills and math. I ordered
a nearby sergeant to give a set of coordinates and how many light years it will be to consider the
amount of fuel we should consume. It came back to 389.96 light years away from our stationed
headquarters. It looked very dim from the point of view I was at, and I knew it was a very large star

The Main Conventions of James Bond Movies Essay
The Main Conventions of James Bond Movies
The character of James Bond is seen to the audience as a hero. Everyone wants to be James Bond
because of his charming good looks and the gorgeous, seductive and underdressed women that he gets
to sleep with. Bond is smart, intelligent and unbelievably cool. James Bond is a very sophisticated,
good looking and strong character. The name James Bond says he is obviously an English family man.
Bond is usually aged between 35 and 40 but is still as athletic as a teenager. Nearly every one of bond
s objectives involves international terrorism of some sort and huge amounts of money or precious
diamonds.

James Bond Coursework Task 2 How Bond films have developed and changed over the years
Women characters have not specifically changed during the years, each bond girl as attractive as the
other. In most bond films women are seen as useless and incredibly passive however in Live and Let
Die, the women are surprisingly more intelligent, important and useful.
Bonds enemies have always been after world domination that almost certainly involving terrorism
The uses of gadgets and technology have seriously changed in the course of over forty years, In Dr.
No the car chases were incredibly short and basic but in just ten years other bond films such as Live
and Let Die had numerous car and boat chases that were not only longer but more complex and
dangerous making the viewer even more excited. Over the years the creators have tried and taken this
to the next level by even using cars that can fly, boats that can drive and planes that can swim. In the
more recent bond films they have even chosen to use other modes of transport like in Goldeneye 007
used a motorbike in the opening sequence, in The world is not enough he got his hands on a boat/car

The Hip Hop Culture
In seventh grade, I stumbled my way upon the Detroit based rapper Eminem. I was at 150 listens on
his track The Real Slim Shady before I knew it. I then found my way into Kanye West, which
exploded my interest into the genre. I have listened to all of the considered essential hip hop classic
and modern day albums. I noticed in these classic albums very distinct change in subject matter and
style that each of the different areas of rappers on where they originate from. Some people believe that
the hip hop culture is at a decline with the lose of this uniqueness and individuality shown in each of
these areas. I too even thought that the hip hop culture was at a decline until I was researching my
topic, but instead this individuality and uniqueness in the rapper s different stories that they tell in
their raps. The genre has expanded throughout the world and continued to evolve while sticking to
these roots of individuality and uniqueness. As Tricia Rose explains in A Style Nobody Can Deal
With, hip hop culture originated in the mid to late 1970s in urban New York as a way for minorities to
express themselves. In the beginning, hip hop culture consisted of four elements , or ways of
expression: rapping, DJing, break dancing, and graffiti (Rose 73). The rapper, or MC (master of
ceremonies), expresses themselves through the most basic form of communication, words. He or she
performs their lyrics over instrumentation provided by the DJ. These DJs brought unique sounds by

Cmdmc Goal 4
Goal #3: The ability to analyze and produce a strong understanding of imagery. As CMDC students,
we are learn not only to be intelligent in our work, but artistic as well to create well thought out design
and style. Regardless if your skills align in web development, graphic design, or 3D creation, having a
strong sense of visual form is key to producing a quality product. By the time a student graduates from
the program, they will without a doubt have an understanding of how to arrange their work in a proper
visual layout. DTC 336, composition and design, pushes students to acknowledge what works and
what doesn t work when it comes to visual design. This was something I had a good understanding of
when entering the program, as I had already taken numerous drawing, painting, and digital
photography classes. The ability to transfer art skills from pencil and paper to a digital canvas such as
Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop is a particular change I adapted to during my education. These digital

As a CMDC graduate, I am confident in my ability to create media objects for a wide range of digital
formats. The process of creating a 3D asset from start to finish can be daunting and cumbersome when
approaching it for the first time, from the very first rough concept arts, low poly modeling, high poly
sculpting, mesh unwrapping, UV baking and texturing, and finally to rigging and exporting, there is a
lot to understand before hoping to produce something is a successful manner. A good pipeline is key
for any digital media production, and is essential in creating work that will be passed to other parts of
the workflow. The work I created through the CMDC was structured to prepare myself for working
alongside other professionals and being able to confidently hand off my work to them, or receive work

The Lady With The Pet Dog Chekhov
One of the sweet comforts in life is to curl up in a favorite chair with a short story that will briefly
carry people away from their everyday lives. On rare occasions, a tale mirrors real life in such a way
that one is strangely comforted by the normalcy reflected in the words. A perfect example of a story
about ordinary life that will soothe the soul in search for some insight on understanding the human
behavior is Anton Chekhov s The Lady with the Pet Dog. This style of writing has such a mass appeal
because the characters wear recognizable social masks and reflect an everyday reality. In his simple
story of a chance meeting between a middle aged, chauvinistic, repeat offender adulterer, unhappily
married man, and a young, naïve, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After becoming acquainted, Anna and Gurov walked and talked of the strange light on the sea: the
water was a soft, warm, lilac color and there was a golden band of moonlight upon it (Chekov 507).
Later, when he is alone in his hotel room, Gurov reflects on her slim, delicate throat, her lovely gray
eyes (Chekov 507) and his thoughts reveal that he has determined this young, vulnerable woman to be
an ideal candidate for another one of his many affairs that he just cannot help becoming involved in.
And as the story unfolds, the color gray reveals itself as an integral component in the sort of
comfortable, yet, unresolved feeling that the relationship between Gurov and Anna emanates. Finally,
when things are heating up between the two lonely travelers, so is the weather, which was close

no matter what they eat or drink to quench it. One did not know what to do with oneself (Chekov

evening, the couple makes way for the pier to watch the incoming ship. A crowd of people have
gathered with many bouquets of flowers to greet arrivals. The churning ocean echoes the intensity of
their attraction for each other, along with the mess of people surrounding them and Anna s display of

The Works Of Vincent Dance Theatre
In this essay I am going to be analysing the works of Vincent Dance Theatre and how they have used
and practised different theories in their work. I am also going to be exploring different cultural
concepts from the work and how they relate to society. The director of Vincent Dance Theatre is
Charlotte Vincent, the founded the company in 1994 and has continued to create such interesting and
powerful work which involves a very wide range of different concepts and cultural meanings.
Charlotte Vincent is a very creative practitioner and is highly influenced by the experiences and her
own journey through life to where she is now. She puts all her knowledge and understanding into
creating her engaging and powerful work.
Charlotte Vincent is one of the UK s leading female choreographer/directors (The Observer). VDT is
an international ensemble of multi tasking collaborators who devise interdisciplinary performance to
challenge conventional values in dance and gender politics. http://www.vincentdt.com/about us/ (1)
One of the many works of Vincent Dance Theatre is a piece called Motherland , this piece explores
gender very deeply and everything that a women/man/boy or girl may face for example, motherhood,
pregnancy, periods and more. It is about the gender people are born into and what they may face in
their journey of life. Another concept of this performance is feminism, the characters show a clear
vision of this cultural concept that society is effected by.

Virginia Tech Shooting Research Paper
The Virginia Tech shooting was one of the biggest shooting. Seung Hui Cho was the mass murderer of

who Cho is and some information about the Virginia Tech shooting. I will also explain the motives

how Virginia Tech and campuses across the nations have changed there active shooter situations.

According to The New York Times in 2005 Cho was scheduled for an appointment with campus
counseling after he made suicidal statements. However, Cho never made a follow up appointment and
never was his parents informed of his mental state. If campus officials did the job they were supposed
to they could have caught the problem before it occurred. Another reason to blame the university is
that the university should have locked down campus after the initial incident. If the campus would
have locked down after the shooting at the dorm it could have decreased the death totals. That is some
things that the university was criticized for.
The Virginia Tech shooting and the sandy hook shooting both are very similar. The sandy hook
shooting was a shooting at an elementary school. The killer killed 20 staff and children before he took
his own life. Just like the Virginia Tech shooting it was planed by two social outcasts and they were
both bullied in school. The sandy hook killer was had a history of bad mental health just like the

Early Life Stages Of Aging Essay
Aging is a biological process by gradual deterioration of the physiological functions and metabolic
processes. (Hilaire Bakala et al 2012) Exposure to stressful situations during early life can have
intense health consequences and is impaired throughout life. However some cases of this impact do
not become evident until much later in life or decades later, when the individuals begin to show signs
of accelerated ageing. (Katherine A. et al 2014). While understanding the relationship between early
life and longevity has important implications in the field of aging, we have still little information
about the mechanisms involved in the prolonged times scales of stress aging. A stress can stimulate
various pathways leading to increased production of the reactive oxygen species (ROS) it is well
known that are highly reactive and capable of damaged many biological macro molecules such as
DNA, RNA, Proteins, and Lipids (Govinda Rao 1989; Tian et al 1998). The accumulation of oxidative
damaged molecules may cause genetic mutation and cellular senescence (Tian et al 1998). Several
data indicates that mitochondria are mostly affected organelles during aging. ... Show more content on

Online Privacy at What Cost
When the constitution was written over two hundred years ago, our founding fathers probably did not
have the Internet in mind. Since then, United States citizen along with their elected officials have tried
to keep the rights of each American sacred, no matter what the cost. The major right that has been
fought over since the dawn of the USA, has been that of the freedom of speech. Now, with the
beginning of the twenty first century, a new freedom of speech is again being examined. This newest
freedom of speech is that of Internet privacy, more directly; how much privacy is too much privacy

privacy on the net, not as an invasion of privacy, but a protection to its citizens. These nefarious
coalitions have to be stopped at the root, and in most cases that root grows deep in the Internet.
Millions of people log on everyday for everything from research to entertainment, but when Hitler

When one thinks of arduous workouts, Pilates might not be the first to come to mind. Although it is
overlooked by more standard exercises such as running, it can have incredible results. The main goal
of anyone practicing Pilates is to feel stronger and healthier. How to accomplish this is in two simple
techniques; knowing how to breathe correctly and maintain proper form. Using proper breathing
techniques in Pilates is crucial. There is one basic rule to breathing when exercising that applies to all
workouts. When the move is difficult, exhale; when it is easy, inhale. This helps to get through the
harder part of the move. To fully understand why it is so important to have proper breathing, it is
imperative to understand the basics of Pilates.

Staying Healthy In Middle Adulthood
Middle adulthood is a time of both gains and losses. The span of middle adulthood is from forty to
sixty years of age, it can be defined as chronologically, contextually, or biologically. Most middle age
people are in good physical, cognitive, and emotional condition. Staying healthy is very important or
middle age adults. Eating healthy is also a very important factor. I think vitamins are good for the
body; they are great supplements that make up for all the protein the body is not receiving. As the
body age blood pressure starts to rise and chances are increased for having a stroke or a heart attack.
Eating fruits and vegetables helps decrease these chances. Eating broccoli, baked potatoes, bananas,
and other foods with skin is a great

Comparing Plant Organs And Their Nutrients
Comparing Plant Organs and their Nutrients
Abstract: In this experiment, we wanted to determine the starch and glucose content of different plant
parts including: fruits, stems, leaves, and roots. To do this, we tested a food in each of these categories
with Lugol s and Benedict s solutions after being heated in a hot water bath. The color of each
solution would then be compared to the Lugol s and benedict s indicators to determine how much
starch and glucose is in each. We believed that fruits would have the most starch and glucose out of
the plant parts because of its role in plant reproduction (seed dispersal). Through the experiment, we
discovered that the fruit does have the most glucose, but the roots have the most starch. ... Show more

In contrast, there is glucose that is considered a simple sugar or a monosaccharide due to its structure
(Georgia State University). Most foods made of glucose molecules are used as sources of energy for
animals as ATP (Georgia State University). Both these sugars are in our diets, yet they are quiet
different in chemical structure and physical form. This is why a substance that contains starch, does
not always contains glucose (Shorter KR). To test for these two carbohydrates, two different tests were
developed: Lugol s and Benedict s. Lugol s indicates whether or not a substance contains starch, and if
so, how much (Shorter KR). This is determined based on a color scale (5 different shades), from
amber to a bluish black (Shorter KR). The farther down the scale, the more starch the substance
contains. Likewise, the Benedict s solution indicates the amount of starch as the 8 color shades (light
blue to dark green) progress (Shorter KR).
Hypothesis:
➢ If Lugol s solution is used to test different types of plant parts, then there will be more starch in the
fruits (reproductive parts) than stems, because fruits are where seed dispersal is located which is a
process that requires sugar.
➢ If Benedict s solution was added to solutions of water and plant parts, then there would be more
glucose found in the fruits rather than the stems because of the function of the fruit during seed
dispersal requires sugar which is glucose makes up.

Vulgarity In Shakespeare s Cholera
Quoth Shakespeare, Blow, winds, and crack your cheeks! (3.2.1). Although bodily humour possesses a
somewhat foul reputation, it appears amongst the works of the greatest and most sophisticated minds
in literary canon to include the Bard himself. Although Peter Smith notes that Victorian literature
seems to shy away from this obscenity, it nonetheless provides examples of the lewd, and Father
Thames Introducing his Offspring to the Fair City of London offers this vulgarity in spades (12 13). In
1858, the periodical Punch published the above image in response to three primary factors: firstly, the
era during which the river Thames faced severe pollution and emitted a horrendous odor, known as the
Great Stink; secondly, an outbreak of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Exemplifying this humourous reduction of status, Cholera thusly produces quite the comedic figure,
with its hunched physicality and the expression of anguish upon its face; of course, owing to the
disease which it represents, its visage and posture inherently call to mind an image of the coprological,
and therefore of the gleefully disgusting body.
In addition to the depiction of Cholera, the figure of Father Thames and the shaping of his body elicits
a sense of the scatalogical as well; rather than possessing a humanoid form akin to the other characters
in the comic, Father Thames cuts an indistinct, lumpy figure that appears to ooze humorously into the
water around him. It seems that the artist intended to evoke an image rather more distasteful than an
anthropomorphized river, and in doing so beckoned our sense of superiority not only by trivializing
the figure of Father Thames, but by dehumanizing him. In his book On Humour, Simon Critchley
emphasizes the particular comedy of invoking this unsavoury subhumanity, writing, the body returns
in laughter in the form of an eruptive, animal physicality (Critchley 46 47). This vaguely fecal and
inhuman perception of Father Thames expresses itself moreover in two notable ways: firstly, by the
cultural awareness of the sewage that inundated the

correctly shoppers can reduce the price on what they are buying by quite a significant amount. For

Mondays are the best days for purchasing electronics, accessories and books while Tuesdays are good
for women s clothing and food and Wednesdays are for men s clothing, toys and health products.
Thursdays are for home goods and shoes and lastly fridays are the best days to buy auto supplies,
cosmetics, hardware and jewelry. Another tip is to look at the ending of the price tag. If it ends in
$0.06 or $0.08 that means it will be marked down again...however, if the price ends in $0.04, that
means it is marked down as low as it will go (Hinkley). Overall, Targets tendencies with pricing relate

The Sunflower: On the Possibilities and Limits of Forgiveness
The Holocaust will always be remembered by the world as a period where human evil was most
prevalent, and where millions of innocent lives were taken in cold blood. It doesn t matter whether
your ancestors were involved, or if you were around to experience it, you only have to be human in
order to feel for all of the people who were affected. Over the years studies like Milgram s Obedience
Experiment, and Zimbardo s Stanford Prison Study have shed light on some of the basic roots of
human evil, but these roots are not enough to pave the way for forgiveness of the events that occurred.

Whether or not it is driven by fear, the trigger is pulled, and his moral decision is made. The children
had not yet experienced the pleasures in life that so many others were given the chance to before being
brought to their end by SS soldiers.
To become a member of the Hitler Youth or the German SS, one must willfully sign up and sign their
lives over to the cause. In order to give forgiveness one must ask the question of what the initial intent
of the harmful action was, and if there is something that could have been done to avoid it. At 6:10 in
the Milgram Obedience Study video, the authority figure tells the teacher you have no other choice

he presumed, but Hitler s motives were pretty clear and hateful in their ways while recruiting. Had he

The Role Of Alienation And The Khalistan Movement
The communal tension in Punjab during the 1970s and 1980s stems from the alienation of Sikh youth
that occurred during the ethos of the 20th century; moreover, the heightening estrangement the youth
had experienced from society impelled them to disavow any shred of patriotism from their psyches
and contriving an atmosphere conducive to radical behavior and opposition to the self perceived
notion of tyranny by the Indian Government; moreover, the Sikhs who had felt betrayed by the Indian
government succumbed to their victim complex, perpetuating the cycle of rebellion and instilling
vindictive behaviors in their children . Drawing the analogues between alienation and the Khalistan

Punjab at the time was heavily reliant upon its agricultural industry, therefore jeopardizing the
livelihood of many rural farmers whose only source of income was incumbent upon their employment
in the farming industry. Unfortunately for the farmers, the Green Revolution had crippled their only
source of income, leaving them economically vulnerable. Naturally, the farmers turned to the
government to voice their concerns; however, the government refused to acknowledge the problem as
a significant one, alienating the already vulnerable farmers (Mooney). Deeply rooted in the nature of
humans is the desire to sustain oneself and turning to more powerful sources. In the absence of
support, one s psyche experiences isolation. Consequently, the Green Revolution served as the onset
of alienation within the Sikh community. In the midst of pecuniary struggles faced by the farmers,
many Sikhs were compelled to abandon their homes in rural Punjab in search of a prosperous life
where one could feed his family and educate his children in places where such possibilities existed.
Furthermore, most Sikhs were able to overcome adversity in the midst of transition and integrate into
mainstream society, mostly comprised of an amalgamation of Hindus and already integrated Sikhs.
However, a significant population of rural Sikhs failed to tolerate the prospect of homogenization in
society as the notion that their culture and religion would dissolve incessantly lingered

Unobtrusive Attitudes
Beyond Fazio et al. s (1995) intention to introduce an unobtrusive method of measuring attitudes (in
their case, prejudice against African Americans), they demonstrated the problems of reactivity and
conceptual confounding present in the frequently used Modern Racism Scale (MRS). Such
unreliability of explicit attitude measures puts the use of self reports in social psychological research
into question. Essentially, their study aimed not so much as to demonstrate how prejudice is expressed
and manifested but to provide evidence for their own method of measuring attitudes as they are
automatically activated. Central to their method is the hypothesis of facilitation: Participants will
assign positive or negative valences to presented adjectives at a shorter and response latency (i.e.
facilitated) if the adjective s valence is congruent to the evaluation automatically activated by the
prime. People are then not asked explicitly asked about their attitudes (which is instead inferred from
the pattern of facilitation), thus eliminating their tendency to choose which responses would ... Show

attitude measures correlated significantly with the experimenter s interaction ratings (based on the

Sars Coronavirus Research Paper
SARS coronavirus (SARS CoV) currently has no cure, but with research, a possible cure and or a
vaccination can be created to prevent future outbreaks of this virus. To better understand this virus
there has been some research regarding what pathways are activated as SARS CoV is in the human
body. There are many different types of proteins that are part of this virus; with one of the most
commonly studied proteins being structural proteins and nucleocapsid proteins. Proteins are being
modified so that the virus can engage, modify and/ or disrupt the host cell signaling and nuclear
import machinery for the benefit of the virus replications, (Frieman, 2008). Proteins such as structural
proteins are being changed which also changes how the human body reacts to the virus, ... Show more

There are three different pathways that can all be activated depending on what proteins are being
activated from SARS Cov. This virus is able to interfere with the classical complement pathway due to
the proteins. Spike protein is one of the major structural proteins that is essential for the interaction of
the virons with host cell receptors and subsequent fusion of the viral envelop with host cell membrane
to allow infection (Wu, 2004). The classical pathway happens when antibodies bind with antigens,
which in this case the spike proteins are attaching to the host cell and infecting the host. The spike
proteins are able to cleave and bind to other proteins, thus making it harder for the classical pathway
to go though a smooth process when the spike proteins cleaving. Another pathway is the alternative
pathway, which can be activated without

Economic Systems And The Economic System
Throughout homo sapiens evolution tribes managed resources the most efficient ways possible (given
their acute primitiveness). For those thousands of years as tribes, they expanded their intellects and
became less self reliant, moving away from hunting and gathering. Humans started to invent new
technologies that made their lives easier; thus, individuals specialized in producing or providing these
goods and services to fellow tribe members. As they cultivated ever more superior technologies the
standard of living grew. This gave way to exponential population growth, towns, cities, kingdoms, and
empires were established. Macroeconomics arose as societies devoted time and energy into governing
their factors of production and maximizing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, the buyer and seller consider their own personal gain when exchanging, thus, self interest
is the motivating force in the free market. The struggle among producers for the dollar of consumers is
competition; it is the regulating force behind the free market. Competition pushes businesses to
produce goods of higher quality and moderate their desire to raise prices. To summarize, the free
market elevates the standard of living, economic efficiency, economic freedom, and economic growth.
Nevertheless, a free market system s shortfall is that it cannot achieve economic equity and economic
security easily. Consequently, the centrally planned economy exists to achieve the weaknesses of the
free market. In a centrally planned economy, the government, rather than individual producers and
consumers, answers the key economic questions. The government controls all factors of production
and directs workers to produce a certain number of goods. Command economies oppose private
property, free market pricing, competition, and self interest. However, command economies do not
perform well in practice, lacking logistics to coordinate an entire economy, reducing efficiency and
economic growth. Thus, countries with central command are going through an economic transition
into mixed economies. Mixed economies are a market based economic system in which the
government is involved to some extent; the government

Essay on Underage Drinkers Face Repercussion
Today there seems to be an increasing number of underage drinkers. Teens seem to be drinking their
way through high school and college because it s the trend of the century. They go out to party and
there is no party, if there is no alcohol. They begin to believe there is no fun in partying without the
use of alcohol. According to, the 2009 Youth Risk Behavior Survey, 40% of high school students
drank some amount of alcohol, 24% binge drank, and 10% drove after drinking and 28% rode with a
driver who had been drinking(Youth Risk Behavior Survey, P.3) . Where is our youth consuming

Underage drinkers risk their lives every time they decide to drink. In addition to, underage drinkers
manage to get themselves into a legal predicament when they consume alcohol. According to, the
Surgeon General s Call to Action to Prevent and Reduce Underage Drinking, Underage drinking
increases the risk of physical and sexual assault, and creates secondhand effects that can put others at
risk. Loud and unruly behavior, property destruction, unintentional injuries, violence, and even death
because of underage alcohol use afflict innocent parties. Figure 1: Percentage of People Who Reported
Binge Drinking in the Past 30 Days For example, about 45 percent of people who die in crashes
involving a drinking driver under the age of 21 are people other than the driver. Such secondhand

sense of right and wrong when under the influence causing them to do things that tend to get them in a

The Greatest Movie Ever Sold
The Greatest Movie Ever Sold
Media is everywhere, it became a part of our life. We are exposed to thousands of ad messages every
day and it s hard to imagine how it would feel to live without them constantly surrounding us. Today
we see ads in print publications, TV commercials, emails, on different products, massively scattered in
sport venues, and it s even spreading into public spaces. In his documentary, Morgan Spurlock
delivered a fascinating satire of the process of placing products into movies and tried to delve into the
nature of advertising in our society. In the movie Spurlock talks about product marketing while using

every single one of them and basically told him that they wanted to use comparison with Minute Maid

public image, and that s why in Quentin Tarantino s case Denny s refused to take part in his movies.
His movies usually contain blood and murder scenes and no company wanted to risk being associated

One of the topics covered in the movie is the topic of selling out. The question is whether Spurlock is

people, that have been asked this question seems to converge on the notion that he is not selling out,
because he s doing the thing he planned from the start. It s his idea and everything goes according to

year, and permanent, providing steady income and security . (Krahn, Hughes, Graham, 94). Personally
I think otherwise, I agree on the aspects of job security and steady income; however I believe a good
job exceeds the definition in the text. In addition to a steady income and job security, I believe a good
job should fulfill the needs of the individual, being social and psychological. I define a good job as an

states ...annual average weekly earnings for full time workers in goods priducing sector was $958,
compared to $854 for the services . (Krahn, Hughes, Graham, 95). This shows that there is a huge
variation among the service sector and producing good sector. Furthermore, job quality and wages
vary by occupation. The text discusses occupations with high weekly earning including senior
managers, professional business and finances, health and professors, workers in applied sciences and
teacher and professors. Occupations earning low weekly earnings include occupations related in the
service sector being chefs and servers, child care and home support workers. The article suggests the
higher paid occupations receive higher wages as they bargain and demand full time work and the basis
that their education is formal in comparison to their lower paid counterparts. Moreover, the text
discusses job quality and wages vary by gender. The text determines that females on average earn less
than their male counter parts. For example the text states female teachers and professors earned 90.9
percent of weekly earning s of their male counterparts ($1250 and $1375 respectively) . (Krahn,
Hughes, Graham, 94). This demonstrates that there is a huge wage gap among genders in the work
force. The article discusses this female to male earnings ratio as it varies in groups and job types
typically women work part time therefore their wage is dissimilar to their male peers. The text outlines
the job qualities and wages that vary in industry, occupation and gender. There are many things to take

a huge transition of many of the characters from the beginning to the end of the novel. This evolution
of the characters is a recurring theme that runs throughout the novel and can be tracked by Celie s

of the novel one can sense the slow evolution towards the increasing empowerment of women.

The use of names throughout the novel is also a way to show the power roles between the characters.

Reentry and the American Prison System
With the dramatic increase in the prison population since the 1970 s, the number of people released
from prison has also seen a steady increase. In 2009, almost 730,000 people were released from state
and federal prisons, an increase of more than 20 percent since 2000. Those newly released are often
condemned by their time in prison and usually have to deal with a loss of social standing. The
transitioning process can present various challenges for them including but not limited to reconnecting
with family and peers, finding living arrangements and employment. This transitioning process is
better referred to as reentry. Reentry is the process in which individuals return to communities from
prison or jail custody, with the goal of reintegrating into society. In addition to feelings of fear, anxiety
and uncertainty, this process can be further complicated by the many indirect legal consequences of a
criminal conviction, sometimes called collateral consequences, which can inhibit an individual s
ability to reenter society.
Upon release, a majority of prisoners will not have anyone or anyplace to go home to. and housing is
one of the first most important commodities they ll require. A stable home can help build a solid
foundation, giving a place for communication as well as making it easier to seek employment. This is
also essential for maybe a parent wanting to reunite with their kids after being released. Finding such

Prognostic biomarkers predict the natural course of the cancer to distinguish the tumor s outcome.
They also help determine whom to treat, how aggressively to treat, which candidates will likely
respond to a given drug, and the most effective dose. Predictive biomarkers evaluate the probable
benefit of a particular treatment. Pharmacodynamic biomarkers assess the imminent treatment effects
of a drug on a tumor and can possibly determine the proper dosage in the early stages of clinical
development of a new anticancer drug [11].
Identification of disease specific molecular biomarkers is a rational approach to addressing current
clinical challenges of whom to biopsy, whom to offer certain interventional therapies, in whom to alter
therapeutic strategies, and in whom to follow up treatment outcome [12, 13].
With recent advances in biotechnology, many potential blood biomarkers have been identified and are
currently under investigation. In this review, we will discuss and list some of the biomarkers that have
a substantial amount of supportive data to be beneficial biologically and clinically, and other potential
candidates are still under investigation.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of SSAAnd Static Routing...
SSA is descendent of Associativity Based Routing ABR. Similar to ABR; SSA chooses route based on
location stability and signal strength. In SSA, route selection for a packet is based on choosing routes
based on stronger connectivity s [12]. SSA is based on the two co operative protocols; Dynamic
Routing Protocol (DRP); Static Routing Protocol (SRP). The DRP had maintains Signal Stability
Table (SST) and the routing table (RT). SST records signal strength of all neighboring nodes. The
signal strength is recorded as stronger or weaker channel. All transmissions are received and processed
in DRP. DRP passes received packet to SRP. It processes them by looking their destination in the RT.

It supplies the multiple routes for one particular destination. It is helpful in case of topology changes
and node failure. The ODMR protocol uses a concept of Forwarding Group. It means that only a
subset of nodes forwards the multicast data packets via scoped relaying [5].
In ODMR routing, the on demand route and mesh creation is supported with the help of join query and
join reply messages. In Fig. 6(a), the source node S floods a Join Query to entire network to refresh
membership. Each of the receiving node, stores the backward learning into the routing table of a node
and they rebroadcasts the packet. Finally, when query reaches a receiver, then it creates a Join Reply
and broadcasts to its neighbors. The node receiving the Join Reply checks the Join Reply packets and
its next node id, to find the matches on its own. If yes, it is a subpart of forwarding group, then sets its
FG_FLAG upon the built matched entries it broadcasts the join reply [13]. Join Reply is broadcasted
by each forwarding group member up to it reaches source node through the shortest path of the
network. A route from source to receivers constructs a mesh of nodes called forwarding group as
shown in the Fig. 6

exemplifies the theme more effectively than the Disney version does. The Grimm version and the

In contrast with the Grimm version, the punishment in the Disney version is more of an emotional
punishment. Whereas the Grimm version had a physical punishment. The only punishment for the
stepmother and stepsisters is that they just have to see Cinderella get what they wanted, which was to
marry the prince. This is extremely hard for them because that was what they wanted the most and
now they have to see their step sister and maid who was much too dirty to be seen (Grimm) get what
they wanted. They are probably also pretty angry and upset about what happened. It is noticeable in
the film that they are all furious that Cinderella got to become the princess. The Disney version made
this the only punishment in the story because the punishment in the Grimm version was too gory. The
Disney movie is directed towards children so they could not make it too gory, but they also had to
teach the lesson. This version did a good job exemplifying the theme, however the punishment in the
Grimm version is just more effective, as noted before. In the Grimm version, there is also extra
punishment for the stepmother as well. The stepmother now has to tend to her daughters and provide
special care for them now because they cannot walk. She talked her daughters into cutting parts of
their feet off because When you are queen you will no longer have to go on foot (Grimm.) Therefore,

Essay about The Physic of Paintball
The Physic of Paintball
I.The Fundamentals of the Game of Paintball.
Paintball is a sport that is still fairly new in the world being not much more that a decade old. This
game as with other sports would not be possible without physics. Physics is essential to the game of
paintball. Some of physics that are involved in paintball are pressurized gas, projectile motion, and the
impulse of being hit by a paintball.
As with all sports there is necessary equipment needed to play. The most important piece of equipment
would be the paintball gun often called a marker. The marker uses compressed carbon dioxide to
propel the .68 caliber paintballs. Small carbon dioxide tanks are connected to the paintball markers the
tanks vary in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pressure caused by gases and gases being placed under pressure is used in our everyday life. Without
the use of gases we would be unable to fly in airplanes, play basketball or even have carbonated
drinks. Gases exert pressure on any surface with which they come in contact, because gas molecules
are constantly in motion. We humans have adapted so well psychologically to the pressure of the air
around us that we are usually unaware of it (Chang 155). The equation often used to measure the
pressure of gases is the ideal gas equation P=nRT/V. Where P is the pressure of the gas in atm, n is the
number of moles of gas, R is the proportionality constant (0.0821 L*atm) T is the temperature in
Kelvin of the gas, and V is the volume the gas occupies (Chang 160).
The gas used with paintball in is pressurized carbon dioxide. The gas is under high pressure in small
cylinders. The high pressure is created by forcing large amounts of gas into a finite area. According to
the equation given above the more gas forced into a restricted volume the pressure will increase.
III.Projectile Motion of Paintballs.
Projectile motion plays a valuable role while playing paintball. Unlike shooting a real gun a paintball
can be seen throughout its entire flight. They are big enough and slow enough to be seen easily. When
a paintball is shot it comes out of the barrel moving at 250 to 300 feet per second, and unfortunately is
easily affected by wind and air resistance.

Spondyloepiphyseal Dysplasia Essay
Spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia is a type of dwarfism. Dwarfism is a disorder can happen because of
several different reasons. This type of dwarfism occurs because of a defective gene from at least one
parent that is passed down to its offspring, but could also occur because of a new mutation in the gene
passed down. Although there are different types of dwarfism they all cause the person to be short, and
sometimes disfigured or distorted. This type and most of the others not only affect the persons legs,
but can also effect different parts of their body. There are treatments to help with these other problems
that go with dwarfism, but you can not fully get rid of it. Spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia mostly occurs
in a child when one of their parents passes down a defective gene to them. Around 80 percent of these
people have average size parents though, this can be caused by new mutations that have developed in
the parent or parents gene that gets passed down to their offspring. Their average size is dwarf was

the setting and objects that are key to the story. A few I will focus on will be the object Wildfire, and
the two main settings; beyond the wall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first setting that will be elaborated on will be the area beyond the Wall. As Jon Snow and the other
men from the Night s Watch express the area beyond the Wall is as unforgiving as the Wall itself. Jon
explained his observations of the weather in this way, a gust of wind sent wet leaves flapping round
them like a flock of dead birds. The haunted forest, Jon thought ruefully, The drowned forest, more
like it (Martin 354). The way Jon expresses the weather around him is crucial to explaining the setting.
Not only does he tell us what the place is known for he also tells us that this place has a very unique
appearance. The haunted forest gives us the illusion of dark shadows, gloomy atmosphere, and tall
trees with gnarled vines. All of these things can be explained by the one phrase. In addition to gloomy
atmosphere there is his statement about how it should be called the drowned forest which indicates
that there is probably lots of water and it is possibly raining very heavily making a dreary and gloomy
place even more so. Without these phrases to describe the setting they are in the story would be bland
and not near as exciting. If we did not have this setting there would be no nerve racking feelings or
scariness to this section of the

Classroom Behavior
Kelly, M. L. amp; Stokes, T. F. (1982). Contingency Contracting With Disadvantaged Youths:
Improving Classroom Performance, (3), 447 454
Classroom behavior management can be one of the most difficult issues teachers face today. With the
variance of personalities in one classroom, it may be difficult for a teacher to stay actively in control
of the ever changing environment. The main question is, how do the new and upcoming educators of
the world change the issue of behavior management in our own classrooms?
First, think about the approach. Take some time to think and strategize a plan. Clarifying a strategy
will help make it easier for an educator to lead the class confidently and effectively. Next, make sure
the students know what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Polymerase Chain Reaction Lab Report
2.0 Introduction
The purpose of this laboratory experiment was to determine which suspect committed the crime. Four
potential suspects DNA were obtained as well as the DNA from the crime scene . In order to develop
some form of conclusion into the suspect two techniques are required to be used which included a
Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Agrose Gel Electrophoresis. Having this allowed a Polymerase
Chain Reaction (PCR) to take place which then permitted the investigation to establish a suspect to be
matched. Polymerase chain reaction is a new, popular molecular biology technique for enzymatically
replicating DNA without using a living organism, such as E. coli or yeast. The technique allows a
small amount of the DNA molecule to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To prepare the gel required 0.67g of Agarose was measure out. Agarose was then blended into 134ml
of TAE buffer (appendix 1) in a beaker and warmed in order to break up the agarose. A microwave
was used for this. After completion of the warm up the beaker was whirled. Once the fluid was made it
was utilised to fill the gel dish starting from one corner and was left too cool to structure the gel. In the
mean time the PCR responses from earlier on in the lab acquired and set at the worktable. A 20ul
micropipette was utilised to then include 10ul of orange G stacking color to every tube and were then
blended well by pipetting all over. Once the gel had set an allele ladder was used to create wells so the
solution could be placed. The micropipette was then used to add the allele stepping stool to the 1st
path of the gel. The DNA, which was obtained from the crime scene, was then placed in the 2nd lane
and the rest followed on in place from A D in 3,4,5, and 6. The gel was then turned on at 100V and ran
for approximately 30 minutes. On completion it was placed under a UV light to look at the DNA and
notice the relocation. Pictures of it were taken and printed out. This can be seen in results. (Figure 2)
NOTE: after the pipette was used on samples the tip was changed to ensure the results were not

The Wife s Lament Analysis
What is exile? Exile is the action of one being kicked out of their home or native land, usually as a
punishment. According to Anglo Saxons, all exile is a model of the banishment of humankind from its
rightful place in Heaven. Exile is a pretty frequent theme of Anglo Saxon literature by symbolizing
this in many different scenarios and using different characters and places. Since the religion of
christianity was so important to the Anglo Saxons, this was a scary thing for many of them to find in
their literature. After one examines the lyrics in The Seafarer, The Wanderer, and The Wife s Lament,
one will notice that exile is included in all three of these Anglo Saxon stories.
In each of these stories, the theme of exile is prominently emphasized through at least one detail. For
example, in the stories The Seafarer and The Wanderer, the theme of exile is demonstrated and
emphasized through the use of water. The narrators in these stories are on sea voyages and water is
used to represent their separation, or exile, from their original home. In the story The Wife s Lament,
the theme of exile is demonstrated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The husband mysteriously left the wife one day without returning which caused the narrator s pitiful
isolation. Eventually during her suffering, she decides that she needs to go out to try to find her
husband, but the husband s kinsmen decided to keep the wife shut out from him. Moreover, the
narrator is left to continue suffering from her exile. My man s kinsmen began to plot by darkened
thought to divide us two so we most widely in the world s kingdom lived wretchedly and I suffered
longing (lns. 11 14). Since exile is supposed to represent the separation of people from christianity
according to Anglo Saxons, this story could have evoked sadness and fear onto Anglo Saxons by being
a sorrowful way to symbolize this

Parenthood Can Bring Stress On The Job Of Raising Children
Parenthood can bring stress to the job of raising children, but being a single mother is one of the most
difficult things a woman can be. In today s society, being a single mother is getting to become more
common in the United States. Most of the time it is due to teenagers having unprotected sex at a
young age or if you are an older single mother, it could be because of death, divorce, etc. It can be
challenging being a single mother because you re doing what was designed to be a two person job. I
know this from experience because my mom is a single mother who raised four children. Most likely
single mothers have to get two jobs just to support herself and her children especially if they do not
have a high school or college degree. In addition, single mothers have less alone time because they
have to be with their children at all times. Also being a single mother leads to being overloaded with
too many tasks which leads to feeling overwhelmed. I think single mothers are the most multi tasked
people in the world. It is difficult for a single mother to have one minimum wage job and raise a kid
because that one job will not be able to pay all the bills and put food on the table, so single mothers
have to get two jobs just to make ends meet. I remember seeing my mom getting ready for her first job
at four in the morning. I can tell that it took a toll on her body because she would have bags under her
eyes from not getting a complete eight hours of sleep. Sometimes she would

How Technology Is Affecting Families
October 13, 2015 my group class and I went to Galleria to observe the people. After watching several
families I came to the conclusion that technology is affecting families, during the observation families
were more on their cell phones stead of having a conversation with their families. The family look as
if they were stranger. They look with a very serious look. They did not take the time to have a
conversation. One of the kid was in his phone most of the time when he was with his family. I was
surprise because the parents did not said anything not even the parents took time to ask or said
anything. The table was in silent they just were looking around. Is very hard to understand that the
family that I observe did not make no connection. It was not the only family that didn t not have not
communication there was few more. My mother is a very old school when we are with the family she
doesn t want us in the phones or computers she said that family time is family time. I think that my
mom is right because most of the time we work and go to school. Most of the family don t have the
time to have a conversation with their families for the same reason because everyone is busy with
work.

Indigenous Rights in Mexico and Central America Essay
Indigenous Rights in Mexico and Central America
Introduction
The injustice surrounding the Indigenous populations in Mexico and Central America began with the
Spanish colonies in the sixteenth century, and the struggle for their land and constitution rights has
been an ongoing battle for hundreds of years. The indigenous people take up a large part of the
population in Mexico and Central America. (See Table 1; Graph 1 below). Indigenous people make up
of over 16 percent of the Mexican population, and over 66 percent of the population is indigenous in
Guatemala. The historical reality of the indigenous peoples in Central America has been one poverty,

Accordingly, there have been many controversies surrounding the indigenous land and their natural
resources in Mexico and Central America throughout history. Struggles to save their land, culture, and
receive constitutional rights have been a constant battle for indigenous populations. For example, the
United Fruit Company (1899 1970) became prominent in trading tropical fruit from Central American
plantations to the United States and Europe. The company comprises a model example of
multinational influence extending deeply into the internal politics and acquisition of natural resources
of native lands. The UFC came to gain 42% of Guatemala s land, and set up their capital in the town
of Bananera, where it made its headquarters, and corrupted every level of government and politics in
Guatemala. UFCO had the unconditional support of right wing dictators who maintained their power
by terrorizing the people and arresting prominent citizens who were either killed on the spot or
tortured in prison to extract confessions. A brutal civil war spanned from 1961 1996, and during one
wave of repression, hundreds of thousands were killed and entire Indian villages were massacred. Of
the killed people, nearly 83% were the Mayans, the indigenous group of

  • 2. Florence Kelley s Speech On Child Labor Rights On July 22, 1905, Florence Kelley, motivated by the plight of these young women and children, affected drastically by the lack of child labor laws, delivered a speech to the National American Women s Suffrage Association in Philadelphia. Kelley s strategies, including word choice and tone, persuade her audience to join forces to help free the American children from toil. Beginning her speech, Kelley applies her credibility by placing statistics regarding the controversy of child labor laws, revealing that she is informed about this topic. Her credibility has a great connection to her purpose, she claims that the number of working girls doubled from census to census and girls from twelve to twenty years are working when they should not have to. Kelley then manifests her concern over these working girls by explaining that, tonight, while everybody else is snoozing away in bed, these several thousand little girls will be working in textile mills, (16 17). These words make her audience feel pity concerning those young girls and are a great reason to act against the unfair laws and regulations that violate both their human and women s rights, especially when they aren t even getting paid fairly. By appealing to their emotion Florence Kelley wishes to push the women to act on her proposal of joining together and helping the poor young girls of their nation. Kelley continues to approach and influence the women s sentiments and hopefully their actions by including her scandalized argument that in Georgia there is no restriction whatever! A girl of six or seven years, just tall enough to reach the bobbins, may work eleven hours by day or by night, (29 31). She decides to include the bobbins of sewing machines in factories to illustrate how short and how young they are to be working in dangerous factories where their rights are ignored, girls at that age should worry more about going to school instead of sacrificing themselves to bring money for bread to their homes. One would understand that many families are living through poverty due to the economy being at a very depressing state and they need the most they can do to increase their financial position to survive in their society, then again, girls should be ... When we set the coordinates to a specific asteroid that was quite larger than the others it seemed like the same old coordination skills and math. I ordered a nearby sergeant to give a set of coordinates and how many light years it will be to consider the amount of fuel we should consume. It came back to 389.96 light years away from our stationed headquarters. It looked very dim from the point of view I was at, and I knew it was a very large star compared to the other stars I ve seen. On rare occasions, a tale mirrors real life in such a way that one is strangely comforted by the normalcy reflected in the words. A perfect example of a story about ordinary life that will soothe the soul in search for some insight on understanding the human behavior is Anton Chekhov s The Lady with the Pet Dog. • 15. Comparing Plant Organs And Their Nutrients Comparing Plant Organs and their Nutrients Abstract: In this experiment, we wanted to determine the starch and glucose content of different plant parts including: fruits, stems, leaves, and roots. To do this, we tested a food in each of these categories with Lugol s and Benedict s solutions after being heated in a hot water bath. The color of each solution would then be compared to the Lugol s and benedict s indicators to determine how much starch and glucose is in each. We believed that fruits would have the most starch and glucose out of the plant parts because of its role in plant reproduction (seed dispersal). Through the experiment, we discovered that the fruit does have the most glucose, but the roots have the most starch. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In contrast, there is glucose that is considered a simple sugar or a monosaccharide due to its structure (Georgia State University). Most foods made of glucose molecules are used as sources of energy for animals as ATP (Georgia State University). Both these sugars are in our diets, yet they are quiet different in chemical structure and physical form. This is why a substance that contains starch, does not always contains glucose (Shorter KR). To test for these two carbohydrates, two different tests were developed: Lugol s and Benedict s. Lugol s indicates whether or not a substance contains starch, and if so, how much (Shorter KR). This is determined based on a color scale (5 different shades), from amber to a bluish black (Shorter KR). The farther down the scale, the more starch the substance contains. Likewise, the Benedict s solution indicates the amount of starch as the 8 color shades (light blue to dark green) progress (Shorter KR). Hypothesis: ➢ If Lugol s solution is used to test different types of plant parts, then there will be more starch in the fruits (reproductive parts) than stems, because fruits are where seed dispersal is located which is a process that requires sugar. ➢ If Benedict s solution was added to solutions of water and plant parts, then there would be more glucose found in the fruits rather than the stems because of the function of the fruit during seed dispersal requires sugar which is glucose makes up. ... Although bodily humour possesses a somewhat foul reputation, it appears amongst the works of the greatest and most sophisticated minds in literary canon to include the Bard himself. Although Peter Smith notes that Victorian literature seems to shy away from this obscenity, it nonetheless provides examples of the lewd, and Father Thames Introducing his Offspring to the Fair City of London offers this vulgarity in spades (12 13). In 1858, the periodical Punch published the above image in response to three primary factors: firstly, the era during which the river Thames faced severe pollution and emitted a horrendous odor, known as the Great Stink; secondly, an outbreak of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Exemplifying this humourous reduction of status, Cholera thusly produces quite the comedic figure, with its hunched physicality and the expression of anguish upon its face; of course, owing to the disease which it represents, its visage and posture inherently call to mind an image of the coprological, and therefore of the gleefully disgusting body. In addition to the depiction of Cholera, the figure of Father Thames and the shaping of his body elicits a sense of the scatalogical as well; rather than possessing a humanoid form akin to the other characters in the comic, Father Thames cuts an indistinct, lumpy figure that appears to ooze humorously into the water around him. It seems that the artist intended to evoke an image rather more distasteful than an anthropomorphized river, and in doing so beckoned our sense of superiority not only by trivializing the figure of Father Thames, but by dehumanizing him. In his book On Humour, Simon Critchley emphasizes the particular comedy of invoking this unsavoury subhumanity, writing, the body returns in laughter in the form of an eruptive, animal physicality (Critchley 46 47). Punjab at the time was heavily reliant upon its agricultural industry, therefore jeopardizing the livelihood of many rural farmers whose only source of income was incumbent upon their employment in the farming industry. Unfortunately for the farmers, the Green Revolution had crippled their only source of income, leaving them economically vulnerable. Naturally, the farmers turned to the government to voice their concerns; however, the government refused to acknowledge the problem as a significant one, alienating the already vulnerable farmers (Mooney). Deeply rooted in the nature of humans is the desire to sustain oneself and turning to more powerful sources. In the absence of support, one s psyche experiences isolation. Consequently, the Green Revolution served as the onset of alienation within the Sikh community. In the midst of pecuniary struggles faced by the farmers, many Sikhs were compelled to abandon their homes in rural Punjab in search of a prosperous life where one could feed his family and educate his children in places where such possibilities existed. Furthermore, most Sikhs were able to overcome adversity in the midst of transition and integrate into mainstream society, mostly comprised of an amalgamation of Hindus and already integrated Sikhs. However, a significant population of rural Sikhs failed to tolerate the prospect of homogenization in society as the notion that their culture and religion would dissolve incessantly lingered ... Unobtrusive Attitudes Beyond Fazio et al. s (1995) intention to introduce an unobtrusive method of measuring attitudes (in their case, prejudice against African Americans), they demonstrated the problems of reactivity and conceptual confounding present in the frequently used Modern Racism Scale (MRS). Such unreliability of explicit attitude measures puts the use of self reports in social psychological research into question. Essentially, their study aimed not so much as to demonstrate how prejudice is expressed and manifested but to provide evidence for their own method of measuring attitudes as they are automatically activated. Central to their method is the hypothesis of facilitation: Participants will assign positive or negative valences to presented adjectives at a shorter and response latency (i.e. facilitated) if the adjective s valence is congruent to the evaluation automatically activated by the prime. People are then not asked explicitly asked about their attitudes (which is instead inferred from the pattern of facilitation), thus eliminating their tendency to choose which responses would ... However, such measure remains a form of self report liable to subjective biases and rating errors. The researchers also offered no explanation as to whether the experimenter had been trained on what criteria of rating was to be used. This issue may be crucial as such ratings have been used extensively to distinguish between the unobtrusive measure and the MRS, and to attest to the former s ability to predict actual prejudice behavior (i.e. predictive ... Sars Coronavirus Research Paper SARS coronavirus (SARS CoV) currently has no cure, but with research, a possible cure and or a vaccination can be created to prevent future outbreaks of this virus. To better understand this virus there has been some research regarding what pathways are activated as SARS CoV is in the human body. There are many different types of proteins that are part of this virus; with one of the most commonly studied proteins being structural proteins and nucleocapsid proteins. Proteins are being modified so that the virus can engage, modify and/ or disrupt the host cell signaling and nuclear import machinery for the benefit of the virus replications, (Frieman, 2008). There are three different pathways that can all be activated depending on what proteins are being activated from SARS Cov. This virus is able to interfere with the classical complement pathway due to the proteins. Spike protein is one of the major structural proteins that is essential for the interaction of the virons with host cell receptors and subsequent fusion of the viral envelop with host cell membrane to allow infection (Wu, 2004). The classical pathway happens when antibodies bind with antigens, which in this case the spike proteins are attaching to the host cell and infecting the host. The spike proteins are able to cleave and bind to other proteins, thus making it harder for the classical pathway to go though a smooth process when the spike proteins cleaving. Another pathway is the alternative pathway, which can be activated without ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For those thousands of years as tribes, they expanded their intellects and became less self reliant, moving away from hunting and gathering. To summarize, the free market elevates the standard of living, economic efficiency, economic freedom, and economic growth. Nevertheless, a free market system s shortfall is that it cannot achieve economic equity and economic security easily. Consequently, the centrally planned economy exists to achieve the weaknesses of the free market. In a centrally planned economy, the government, rather than individual producers and consumers, answers the key economic questions. The government controls all factors of production and directs workers to produce a certain number of goods. Command economies oppose private property, free market pricing, competition, and self interest. However, command economies do not perform well in practice, lacking logistics to coordinate an entire economy, reducing efficiency and economic growth. We humans have adapted so well psychologically to the pressure of the air around us that we are usually unaware of it (Chang 155). The equation often used to measure the pressure of gases is the ideal gas equation P=nRT/V. Where P is the pressure of the gas in atm, n is the number of moles of gas, R is the proportionality constant (0.0821 L*atm) T is the temperature in Kelvin of the gas, and V is the volume the gas occupies (Chang 160). There are treatments to help with these other problems that go with dwarfism, but you can not fully get rid of it. Spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia mostly occurs in a child when one of their parents passes down a defective gene to them. Around 80 percent of these people have average size parents though, this can be caused by new mutations that have developed in the parent or parents gene that gets passed down to their offspring. Their average size is dwarf was below 4 10 , but still above 4 . Spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia is also commonly referred to as SED. This type of dwarfism disrupts bone growth during development as a child. This is what causes the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some also have a curvature of the neck and spine, which is called scoliosis, as described before. This forms in a child in their developmental stages during childhood that can cause problems with breathing later in their life, if not monitored and treated appropriately. These changes in the spine and neck may also increase the risk of serious spinal cord damage or even clubfoot. • 38. Clash Of Kings Setting As a reader objects and settings in books are key elements to make the story limpid. Without elements such as the setting or the main objects in a book a story has no allure. A story without any key objects would be like Texas Chainsaw Massacre without any chainsaws. Likewise a story without a setting would be like walking through an art gallery without any art. ☺ These elements are essential whether writing about science fiction, or writing about love, without them there is no real rhyme or reason to the story. The book I am reading, A Clash of Kings by George R. R. Martin, has vivid depictions of the setting and objects that are key to the story. A few I will focus on will be the object Wildfire, and the two main settings; beyond the wall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first setting that will be elaborated on will be the area beyond the Wall. As Jon Snow and the other men from the Night s Watch express the area beyond the Wall is as unforgiving as the Wall itself. Jon explained his observations of the weather in this way, a gust of wind sent wet leaves flapping round them like a flock of dead birds. The haunted forest, Jon thought ruefully, The drowned forest, more like it (Martin 354). The way Jon expresses the weather around him is crucial to explaining the setting. Not only does he tell us what the place is known for he also tells us that this place has a very unique appearance. The haunted forest gives us the illusion of dark shadows, gloomy atmosphere, and tall trees with gnarled vines. All of these things can be explained by the one phrase. In addition to gloomy atmosphere there is his statement about how it should be called the drowned forest which indicates that there is probably lots of water and it is possibly raining very heavily making a dreary and gloomy place even more so. Without these phrases to describe the setting they are in the story would be bland and not near as exciting. If we did not have this setting there would be no nerve racking feelings or scariness to this section of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Contingency Contracting With Disadvantaged Youths: Improving Classroom Performance, (3), 447 454 Classroom behavior management can be one of the most difficult issues teachers face today. With the variance of personalities in one classroom, it may be difficult for a teacher to stay actively in control of the ever changing environment. The main question is, how do the new and upcoming educators of the world change the issue of behavior management in our own classrooms? First, think about the approach. • 40. Polymerase Chain Reaction Lab Report 2.0 Introduction The purpose of this laboratory experiment was to determine which suspect committed the crime. Four potential suspects DNA were obtained as well as the DNA from the crime scene . In order to develop some form of conclusion into the suspect two techniques are required to be used which included a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Agrose Gel Electrophoresis. Having this allowed a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) to take place which then permitted the investigation to establish a suspect to be matched. Polymerase chain reaction is a new, popular molecular biology technique for enzymatically replicating DNA without using a living organism, such as E. coli or yeast. The technique allows a small amount of the DNA molecule to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To prepare the gel required 0.67g of Agarose was measure out. Agarose was then blended into 134ml of TAE buffer (appendix 1) in a beaker and warmed in order to break up the agarose. A microwave was used for this. After completion of the warm up the beaker was whirled. Once the fluid was made it was utilised to fill the gel dish starting from one corner and was left too cool to structure the gel. In the mean time the PCR responses from earlier on in the lab acquired and set at the worktable. A 20ul micropipette was utilised to then include 10ul of orange G stacking color to every tube and were then blended well by pipetting all over. Once the gel had set an allele ladder was used to create wells so the solution could be placed. The micropipette was then used to add the allele stepping stool to the 1st path of the gel. The DNA, which was obtained from the crime scene, was then placed in the 2nd lane and the rest followed on in place from A D in 3,4,5, and 6. The gel was then turned on at 100V and ran for approximately 30 minutes. On completion it was placed under a UV light to look at the DNA and notice the relocation. Pictures of it were taken and printed out. This can be seen in results. (Figure 2) NOTE: after the pipette was used on samples the tip was changed to ensure the results were not impacted 4.0 Results In light of the photos taken of the gel and the examination of DNA movement by it was inferred ... • 41. The Wife s Lament Analysis What is exile? Exile is the action of one being kicked out of their home or native land, usually as a punishment. According to Anglo Saxons, all exile is a model of the banishment of humankind from its rightful place in Heaven. Exile is a pretty frequent theme of Anglo Saxon literature by symbolizing this in many different scenarios and using different characters and places. Since the religion of christianity was so important to the Anglo Saxons, this was a scary thing for many of them to find in their literature. After one examines the lyrics in The Seafarer, The Wanderer, and The Wife s Lament, one will notice that exile is included in all three of these Anglo Saxon stories. In each of these stories, the theme of exile is prominently emphasized through at least one detail. For example, in the stories The Seafarer and The Wanderer, the theme of exile is demonstrated and emphasized through the use of water. The narrators in these stories are on sea voyages and water is used to represent their separation, or exile, from their original home. In the story The Wife s Lament, the theme of exile is demonstrated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 42. Parenthood Can Bring Stress On The Job Of Raising Children Parenthood can bring stress to the job of raising children, but being a single mother is one of the most difficult things a woman can be. In today s society, being a single mother is getting to become more common in the United States. Most of the time it is due to teenagers having unprotected sex at a young age or if you are an older single mother, it could be because of death, divorce, etc. It can be challenging being a single mother because you re doing what was designed to be a two person job. I know this from experience because my mom is a single mother who raised four children. Most likely single mothers have to get two jobs just to support herself and her children especially if they do not have a high school or college degree. In addition, single mothers have less alone time because they have to be with their children at all times. Also being a single mother leads to being overloaded with too many tasks which leads to feeling overwhelmed. I think single mothers are the most multi tasked people in the world. It is difficult for a single mother to have one minimum wage job and raise a kid because that one job will not be able to pay all the bills and put food on the table, so single mothers have to get two jobs just to make ends meet. I remember seeing my mom getting ready for her first job at four in the morning. I can tell that it took a toll on her body because she would have bags under her eyes from not getting a complete eight hours of sleep. Sometimes she would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. How Technology Is Affecting Families October 13, 2015 my group class and I went to Galleria to observe the people. After watching several families I came to the conclusion that technology is affecting families, during the observation families were more on their cell phones stead of having a conversation with their families. The family look as if they were stranger. They look with a very serious look. They did not take the time to have a conversation. One of the kid was in his phone most of the time when he was with his family. I was surprise because the parents did not said anything not even the parents took time to ask or said anything. The table was in silent they just were looking around. Is very hard to understand that the family that I observe did not make no connection. It was not the only family that didn t not have not communication there was few more. My mother is a very old school when we are with the family she doesn t want us in the phones or computers she said that family time is family time. I think that my mom is right because most of the time we work and go to school. Most of the family don t have the time to have a conversation with their families for the same reason because everyone is busy with work. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Struggles to save their land, culture, and receive constitutional rights have been a constant battle for indigenous populations. For example, the United Fruit Company (1899 1970) became prominent in trading tropical fruit from Central American plantations to the United States and Europe. The company comprises a model example of multinational influence extending deeply into the internal politics and acquisition of natural resources of native lands. The UFC came to gain 42% of Guatemala s land, and set up their capital in the town of Bananera, where it made its headquarters, and corrupted every level of government and politics in Guatemala.
