The Incident Of Troy University s Homecoming
Something bad is about to happen, I stated as I looked over to my cousin s best friend. Apparently, I
had spoken too soon. Pow! Pow! Shots were fired. Crowds of people were frantically running in every
direction. What had just happened was not expected and had definitely never taken place before. Troy
University s Homecoming Weekend in the past years had never encountered violence on this level.
There was maybe a fight here and there, but never gunshots. I had never been so scared in my life.
Troy University Homecoming 2016 had officially been ruined after this night. That weekend began
like any other homecoming weekend. It was filled with fraternity parties, tailgating, and much more.
The previous night, me, my cousin, and her friends ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We all followed. While waiting at the front door, I constantly observed my surroundings. A sense of
nervousness came over my body as I began to look at the capacity of people standing outside waiting.
That s when I noticed two groups of people having a confrontation right behind my group of friends.
The conversation quickly escalated as one of the members of the group swings a punch at another
member of the other group. The brawl was on; in a blink of an eye, both groups were on the ground
tumbling and throwing punches. People were running towards the fight for some odd reason; instead,
me and the girls ran towards the door of the building. Something bad is about to happen, I stated as I
looked over to my cousin s best friend. Apparently I had spoken too soon. As I watched one of the
members of the fight get up from the ground and reach into his pocket, I knew what was coming next.
Fear immediately took over my body. Pow! Pow! Shots were fired. Crowds of people were frantically
running in every direction. I began to bang on the door of the building in terror. Thankfully, someone
inside the party heard the gunshots, and ran to open the door for us. Everyone stampeded into the
lobby of Sartain Hall like a herd of animals. I looked over to my right, in hopes that at least my cousin
had made it inside the building. She was nowhere to be found. I desperately began to search for my
cousin amongst the crowd of flustered people. Tia! I m right here!

Psychological Research And Its Impact On Society
Drawing on examples from chapters 3, 4 and 8 of Investigating Psychology, examine and assess the
extent to which psychological research is of value to society. Psychological research describes
investigations psychologists undertake in order to review and analyse a specific hypothesis, (a theory
about the relationship between defined variables). Research allows theories to be confirmed, amended
or rejected and often leads to further research as requirements evolve. Psychological research can take
many forms, from laboratory based experiments to non invasive viewing of subjects in their own
environment. This research can take place using human or non human subjects and the analysed
results applied to human behaviour or experience within many disciplines including, education, legal
or occupational. Psychological research may be undertaken on a subset of society; however the
importance of the results may have an effect way beyond the group tested. The value of psychological
research varies and the same results can be used in different ways by different groups of society. I will
be looking at three areas of psychological research that affect the way we interact with and can be
affected by technological advances. These pieces of research were not undertaken as a result of current
hypotheses, but were the early examples of research within their areas and led onto further research. I
will be showing how psychological research can provide awareness, can be used to manipulate

Comparison Of Mexico And Brazil Essay
Brazil and Mexico are both the giants of their geographic realms (de Blij and Muller 219,254).
Mexico constitutes an entire geographic region of Middle America (200). The country of Brazil is also
considered a single region in South America (239). Both of these regions have very large populations
in comparison to the other regions of their realms. Mexico s current population of 102 million people
has more than doubled in size since 1970 (219). Brazil s estimated population is currently near 167
million people (254). The populations of both regions are becoming increasingly more urban in
character. At least seventy four percent of Mexico s population resides in cities or towns (220).
Similarly in Brazil, eighty percent of the population ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Brazil lacked the large work force provided by the greater Amerindian population of Mexico. The
Amerindians of Mexico were already familiar with working for native overlords, making the transition
to working under a Spanish overlord a relatively smooth process (Suchlicki 31). To compensate for the
lack of an indigenous work force, the Portuguese began to bring African slaves into Brazil as early as
1433. Out of the total population of the Brazilian colony in 1585 numbering some 57,000 people,
14,000 were African slaves (Burns 49). Although the Spanish who colonized Mexico were by no
means innocent of enslaving Africans, the large numbers of Amerindians provided the bulk of the
work force on Mexican plantations (Suchlicki 31).
These historical differences in the regions of Brazil and Mexico are still evident in their populations of
today. The Amerindian influence is strong in Mexico. While only ten percent of the population is full
Amerindian (de Blij and Muller 220), the cultural influence remains greater than in Brazil. Less than
one percent of the population is full Amerindian in Brazil (Microsoft Encarta). The population of
Mexico is largely mestizo, people with mixed European and Amerindian ancestries (de Blij and
Muller 220). The population of Brazil is much more diverse; it is more heavily influenced by
European immigrations. The large numbers of slaves brought into Brazil from Africa have maintained

underwear campaign The Perfect Body launched by Victoria s Secret demonstrates the comercially
marketable idea of a normal body. The knowledge produced about the idea in this case of the normal
body is a standarization female of ideals within modern society. This image is a representation of the
embodiment by society of what an ideal female should look like and is reflected into this Victoria s
Secret advertisement campaign. Drawing on Lock and Nguyen s (2010) discussion on the natural body
this advertisement presents a powerful example of how an ideal persists as the body is objectified to
conform to a societal ideal in social representations. It also suggests tht the body is a homogenious
space , women are classified and objectified and placed in a category and this is what the perfect body
looks like. The advertisement campaign solidifies that ideal with the slogan The Perfect Body and

Once again the normalisation and idea of standardisation put forward by Lock and Nguyeon (2010)
contributes to the embodiment of usage. By constantly exposing the population to an action or
behaviour they will eventually become used to it and no longer stigmatise it. Therefore as more
violent images are used in everyday media the population becomes more accepting. (p32 33, 37 38)

Assault Weapons Pros And Cons
The issue on prohibiting assault weapon to private citizen has been an important debate issue (zimring
1989, p. 1) it is the issue of safety and freedom of owning firearms. After the recent mass shooting and
several other incidents in America shifted legislation attention on assault weapon ban. Some states
even put restriction laws on Assault weapon (Workshop 1994). The question is whether to increase
legislation on assault weapon or decrease it. Assault weapon debate has been an issue for years and
both side have their opinion on that topic. American citizens have used weapon to protect their
families, country and hunt for decades (Ballaro and Finley, 2013). When it comes to owning assault
weapon in the U.S the citizens are protected by the Second Amendment in the constitution, which
some states have strict licensing and other way to control how those weapon are distributed and used.
In my opinion private citizens should be allow to own assault weapon because ... Show more content

Assault weapon is a semi automatic firearm very similar to a military weapon. A semi automatic rifle
the trigger has to be pulled for every time someone shot; the rifle releases the used shell and sends a
new round preparing the rifle for the next shot. A military rifle is just a little different from a semi
automatic rifle. One of the reasons private citizens should not be prohibited is because under the
constitution, the Second Amendment states A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of
a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed (Mount, Steve, 1995).
The second amendment plays an important role in owning an assault type of weapon. If we can own a
gun why not an assault weapon. People we feel safer from violence crimes when can defend our self.
From the incident that happen in Newtown if a teacher or a principal had a weapon at the time they

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) produces images of organs and structures inside the body by
using magnetic field and pulses of radiofrequency (RF) energy. An MRI machine consists of two
powerful magnets that generate strong magnetic field when electricity is passed through a conductive
field coil. Human body contains large amount of water molecules that are randomly arranged. Upon
entering the machine, the hydrogen nuclei of the water molecules align in one direction. Then, a
second RF pulse is applied in a series of quick pulses that cause the hydrogen nuclei to be out of spin
alignment. When the RF pulse is switched off, the hydrogen nuclei realign themselves and relax by
releasing RF signals, also known as free induction decay (FID) response

Explain Why Some Working At Home Are More Productive Than...
91 Percent of People Who Work at Home Are More Productive Than at Work When the idea of
working remotely comes up in a conversation, I find that people tend to respond in one of two ways:
total dread or utter delight. Some professionals recall the risks and difficulties of working away from
the office, while others rave about having the flexibility to create their own schedule and work
environment. Regardless of how you work best and where you personally stand on the topic, it s worth
considering the benefits of offering remote working opportunities to your team and organization. With
clear expectations and guidelines in place, remote working can bolster productivity and build trust
within your team. In fact, in a 2016 survey of American remote workers, 91 percent of people who
work remotely revealed that they re more productive than when they re in an office. In some ways,
remote working is similar to having teams in different locations or spread across various parts of the
country. However, establishing telecommuting protocol isn t always intuitive and the practice has yet
to be considered or implemented at many organizations or in some cases has been implemented and
retracted at some others. Here are a few tips to keep in mind if you are considering this as an option

Cosmia Analysis
Cosmia was written by Joanna Newson for her album, Ys, released in 2006. The song features an
orchestral arrangement by Van Dyke Parks. The overall theme of the composition appears to be that of
grief and the process in dealing with personal loss. The cultural and societal interplay that this song
invokes is evident through the exploration of instrumentation, genre, artist context and musicological
aspects.
The following table demonstrates the interpreted analysis of the musical structure. It is interesting to
note that there appears to be many microstructures in the form of instrumental transitions from a
section to another.
Instrumentation within this piece, provides a crucial musical parameter that assists in defining the
music structure. The harp and vocals appear to be the focal instrumentation featured within the song,
as the other instruments fall within the role of embellishments and countermelodies. This facet is
somewhat more apparent for the harp, that of which is present throughout the entirety of the piece,
dictating the chordal progression. This elucidates it as the pinnacle of the instrumentation, and thus
gives an insight into the composing machinations of Newsom s work. The first appearance of Section
A can be divided into two parts due to the variations within the instrumentation. The second half of the
verse introduces a range of instruments including jaw harp as well as the orchestral arrangement
which is definitive of this particular section, as seen in

The Conventions of the Soap Opera Genre with Reference to at Least Two Programmes
The soap opera genre originated in America in the 1930s as a radio programme. It was targeted at
housewives who tuned in while doing their household chores. Soaps included many domestic issues to
keep the audience interested. The name soaps came from advertising slots between programmes. As
the soaps were aimed at housewives, the adverts mainly consisted of products of a domestic nature.
Coronation Street was Britain s second soap, following The Groves . It began in 1960 and is set in
Weatherfield, Manchester. It is a successful soap that has been running for over 40 years. Eastenders is

Continuity is an important factor whilst examining the conventions of the soap opera genre. One
aspect of continuity is the theme tunes played at the start and the end of the programme. At the
beginning of all soaps there is a main theme tune. In Eastenders the programme begins with the drum
roll. It is loud and easily recognisable. As this is playing, a large birds eye view of London is shown. It
gradually zooms in onto Albert Square as the soap begins. This sets the scene effectively as the
audience instantly know where the soap is set. It also makes it seem more realistic as it is set in a real
location as opposed to the setting being in a studio.
In Coronation Street the theme tune is a violin melody. This also has easily distinguishable shots of
Weatherfield shown as it is played. The theme tune is distinctive and one that the audience will
recognise when they switch on to watch the soap. Theme tunes help to create habits for viewers who
hear them and sit down to watch the soap. They set the scene allowing the viewer to become more
quickly absorbed into the action.
Another aspect of continuity is the reliance upon the cliff hanger scene at the end of an episode. A
cliffhanger is when the audience are left in suspense after an event that is not concluded within the
episode, ensuring they will watch next time. Often soaps finish with a

The Importance Of Social And Personal Identity
Everyone has an identity. A person s characters are the combination of their memories, thoughts,
feelings, and personal experiences. If you are meeting someone new for the first time, what do you
see? Their difficult childhood? Their struggles to get where they are? People can only see other s outer
identity and not their character because the components that are the core of one s character is covered
up by their external identity, the labels. The labels shape a person s social and personal identity in
society and the environment they grew up in, conforming them to the norm and dispossesses the
identities of those who are different.
The human mind seeks order in chaos. It attempts to organize information provided to it. The human
mind doesn t like the unknown, so it will find similarities that the unknown has with something it
knows. When meeting someone new, the brain assigns a label to them, categorizing that person s
characteristics and traits and group them with others with similar characteristics. A tag is created to
differentiate people who differ from the norm. In society, people are labeled based on their race,
culture, gender, etc. If you tagged a person as Irish, using that label, when you are describing that
person to someone else, they would have an idea of what the person you are describing is like since
they would associate the person s traits with similar traits with the same label. Categorizing the
complex nature of human identities is impossible. These

Elephant Seal Overpopulation Research Paper
Elephant seal populations were some sorts of huge in the 1990s, but after that time, many bears started
to kill those seals making the population decrease by a noticeable amount. After this, the population of
seals remained very low undergoing what many called the genetic bottleneck effect, which is nothing
more than when a population goes through a drastic reduction in size, leaving that certain population
low in size for an indefinite amount of time. After this event, the genetic variation of elephant seal
populations remained low for thousands off generations because this genetic bottleneck wiped out
many alleles, decreasing the chance for those alleles to be passed on from generation to generation.
After this mass effect, the genetic pool was immensely reduced, leaving this elephant seal population
with very little genetic variation to be passed on for thousands of years.
Genetic drift definitely did not take part whatsoever at the beginning when the population was
somewhat big, but it surely started to slow down the recovery of genetic diversity once the population
underwent the bottleneck event. Genetic drift only works when the population is little and there is
almost no genetic variation between individuals. In other words, genetic drift should have ... Show

Using Polystyrene ( Ps ) Standards For Calibration Essay
Introduction: Polyimides are high performance polymers with excellent electrical properties, high
thermal stability, and high strength and stiffness at elevated temperatures. They also have a high
chemical resistance and are therefore typically not soluble in common solvents. Because of solubility
issues the molecular weight (MW) and molecular weight distribution (MWD) of polyimides is near
impossible to obtain and in some cases the data listed is based on soluble precursors to the particular
polyimide of interest. These precursors are typically only soluble in amide solvents and because of
this the results obtained are questionable due to strong interactions that the polymer, mobile
phase/eluent, and stationary phase/column have with one another due to the polyelectrolyte effect.
This article aims to determine MW and MWD of polyimides via gel permeation chromatography
(GPC) by using solution imidization and thus not having to deal with the occurrence of the
polyelectrolyte effect. Therefore, the overall objective of this paper is to establish the proper
chromatographic conditions required to carry out this analysis with the use of polystyrene (PS)
standards for calibration.
Experimental:
Polyimide samples were prepared in N methylpyrrolidine (NMP) by using a step wise reaction and
end capping with m ethynylaniline in order to control the molecular weight. Via this process,
theoretical molecular weights of 5000, 10000, and 15000 g/mol were achieved and analyzed with the

Essay about Eagle Poem
Explication In the poem by Joy Harjo called Eagle Poem, Harjo talks about prayer and life and how
they revolve around mother nature. She suggests that while being one with nature, we feel we are in a
place in which we haven t imagined and the things in which we would love to do in that magnificent
and calming place. After one reads the poem, he/she enjoys the lyrical type of it. This is because Eagle
Poem sticks to one idea and extends it throughout the entire poem. For instance, it talks about prayer,
nature, and animals from start to finish. In the first three lines of the poem, Harjo talks about opening
oneself up to nature where you feel yourself. She does this by connecting the human body to the sky,
earth, sun, and moon. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once one finishes the poem he/she feels the want to reread it to catch something possibly missed the
first time around. Then, if one learns about who Joy Harjo is and where she is from, one will truly
understand this poem. After learning that the author has a Native American and Canadian ancestry,
things that were unclear became extremely visible. It was easy to relate to the idea of this poem due to
religious reasons and ones faith in prayer. If one believes in prayer and nature bringing peace to
oneself, then one can relate to this poem in a deeper manner. Eagle Poem has turned out to be more
enjoyable and intriguing than expected. The style throughout the poem was well thought out by Harjo
though she is writing about a very soft topic. Although she is speaking from her ancestry, she
effectively presents strong points in a well organized manner. Though one might not find peacefulness
in everyday life, there is always that one place for everyone, just not imagined quite yet. Poet
Biography Throughout Harjos career, she has had many accomplishments not only as a poet, but as a
person in general. She has had many hardships to overcome throughout her life, but those experiences
are what have made her the poet she is today. Born on May 9, 1951 in Tulsa, Oklahoma Joy Harjo

Essay on Marlowe s Doctor Faustus
Marlowe s Doctor Faustus
In Faustus first speech in Act 1, my main feeling towards Faustus was not sympathy but irritation. I
became aware of Faustus arrogance and his impatience with ordinary learning, particularly with his
referral to law as a petty case of paltry legacies. He also constantly refers to himself as Faustus ,
reminding himself of his own importance.
Other aspects of Faustus character are revealed in the descriptive language he uses. He is ravish d by
magic, and is glutted with learning. These adjectives show a very sensual personality.
The good and bad angels represent the two different sides of his personality, one side urging him to
sell his soul for magic and the other urging him to remember that ... Show more content on

Faustus sees himself as indebted to Mephostophilis for by him I ll be a great emperor of the world.
In Act 2, the good and bad angels return as a demonstration of both of
Faustus opinions. Because Faustus is such a sensual person, he is more inclined to listen to the bad
angel, which appeals to his material side. Faustus is unsure of his own decision and he pounces on
anything that could be construed as a sign to him to stop in the selling of his soul. When he writes the
bill damning his soul, and the blood congeals, Faustus wonders what might the staying of my blood
portend? Faustus questions Mephostophilis, who cleverly sidesteps each question and appeals to
Faustus sensual side by showing him a visual display of dancing devils and fireworks.
Faustus is keen to believe in heaven but not in hell. Even though
Faustus called to hell, and Mephostophilis is standing in front him as proof of the existence of hell, he
does not truly believe his soul will be damned. He dismisses hell as trifles and mere old wives tales.
Faustus sensual side, suggested earlier in the play by his language, is openly admitted in Act 2 when

The Purpose Of The Greenbelt Land
Summary: Green belt land refers to the land that is reserved for an open space, often around large
cities. The purpose of a greenbelt area is to protect the land around large urban areas from urbanisation
and remain reserved for forestry, agriculture and providing habitats to wildlife. By preventing
urbanisation in this area it allows for the protection of agriculture. Greenbelt areas are beneficial to
both rural and urban areas. Greenbelt areas not only provide forestry and agricultural activities for the
rural population but on the other hand provide fresh air and outdoor activities for the urban population.
Purpose: The greenbelt is a policy that strictly prohibits no infrastructure. A Greenbelt area also

Howard Gardner s Analysis
Howard Gardner s has a list of eight multiple intelligences, in which he believes that each person has
innate strengths that our school system needs to support and teach to so that the students are best able
to absorb the material. Gardner says that we must change our teaching method to student centered
because it is teacher centered. In order to reach each of the eight student to embody and learn how to
dance. Gardner describes linguistic intelligence as the adept use of language. I interpreted this as the
use of language or metaphors to help understand what is being said to the students to bring out the best
qualities of the student. I would reach the student by approaching them with the language and give
them guidance and directions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By allowing the students to work by themselves, shows the personal development they have come
from the beginning of not knowing how to dance at all and achieve their intentions of learning how to
dance. Naturalist intelligence is the ability to discern patterns in nature. I also found this concept hard
to grasp in the form of teaching how to dance. However, I believe that I could teach students how to
dance by explaining that dancing is a natural form of exercise. Dancing is the self care of one s body
and helping a person getting into shape. By learning how to dance, it can help a student with
knowledge of different form of dances. Gardner s eight multiple intelligences is helpful in
understanding that people have different methods of intelligence and learning styles. By learning the
different types of intelligences, also helps me understand what my strengths and weaknesses are so I
could work on improving that particular intelligence or by just acknowledging

Source: 2017, Christopher R. Wilder (Mid life crisis)
Over the past few weeks, I have been with Intel Corporation understanding their Internet of Things
(IoT) product roadmaps from security, healthcare, retail, energy, smart cities, and of most interest is
leveraging IoT to extend the customer experience. This week I will be in the Bay Area with Intel s
Autonomous Vehicle (AV) team getting a deeper dive into their vision for the future of mobility.
Across the board, one of the things that have impressed me most with Intel s overall IoT strategy is
their focus on experience, rather than just on technology although the tech is impressive too.
Moving AV beyond just a science experiment
Intel and it s Mobileye division believes autonomous driving is not a just a product; it is an industry.
As the industry advances, Intel is working diligently to be the tip of the spear when it comes to safety,
technology, standards, and sustainability. Recently, Intel s Mobileye released a framework to help
automakers, technology companies, and regulators to understand the fundamental pillars of safety
assurance and economic scalability in this highly fragmented and heterogeneous marketplace.
As the AV industry progresses

Social Class Divide As A Report By The Equality And Human...
Social divisions are one of, if not, the main political concerns within out society today. Policies have
been implemented to try and overcome these social issues but as will be discussed and argued in this
essay, it is clear that either current government legislation isn t working, or not enough work is being
done locally and in government to tackle the problem. This essay will discuss the social class divide as
a report by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (2010) describes how people living in
poverty and who are looked at as members of the lower social class are targets of prejudice and
injustice in Scotland. I will focus on the inequalities that exist within these socially constructed
groups, such as wealth, health, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another study completed by the Scottish Government helps us to see what kind of people are living in
poverty, and contrary to what most people might assume. Most families that are living in poorer
circumstances contain at least one full time working adult. It has also been shown how families where
parents are unemployed are better off on benefits rather than earning minimum wage. This surely
shows that the current minimum wage is not doing the job it was implemented to do, as families aren t
being able to get by and maintain a good quality of life on these salaries. Supporting the argument that
the living wage being introduced should be a government priority. This would thereby close the gap
between the employed and unemployed in Scotland. Other government policies that are being
introduced are also said to be a cause to rising poverty levels in Scotland. For example, The Guardian
(2015) published an article describing how welfare cuts have put over 700,00 people into poverty
since 2012 in the UK. Scotland is also severely affected as shown by a statement from Nicola
Sturgeon (Left Foot Forward, 2015) discussing how the proposed cut on tax credits will have a
devastating affect on 20% of the most deprived families, losing 8% of their income. This leaves the
impression that rather than poverty being reduced,

The Principle Of The Company
PART (A)
A company is considered to have a separate legal entity and an independent existence which is
different from its members but still Under the Corporations Act, 2001 the main principle of the
company is to operate through its directors as they are the one who are responsible for all the tasks and
affairs of the company and so all the statutory responsibilities have to be carried out by its directors
and hence it is very important that they perform their duties with care and honesty and compel with
the provisions of corporations law and also to establish their duties under common law and general
law and it is the duty of all the directors of the company that they should act in the best interest of the
company.
The term director is defined in section 9 of the Corporations Act 2001 to mean:
A person validly appointed as a director or an alternate director.
A person, even though not validly appointed as a director, if that person acts in the position of a
director ( de facto director) .
A non executive director governs an organisation along with all the other directors on behalf of the
members or the shareholders by whom the directors are selected. A non executive director is the one
who is not appointed in executive capacity by the company. Even Though, they are not appointed in
executive capacity but they still must compel with legal requirements of Corporations Act 2001
As such, it can be said that all the directors have equal responsibilities towards

The Keystone Xl Pipeline Is A Proposed 1179 Mile Pipeline...
2. The Keystone XL pipeline is a proposed 1,179 mile pipeline that would travel from the oil sands of
Alberta, Canada, southeast to Steele City, Nebraska, where it would connect with a preexisting pipe.
The pipeline would transport 830,000 barrels of oil daily, which is around 50% more oil per day than
is currently transported from Canada. Supporters say that it will create thousands of jobs and reduce
the United States dependence on foreign oil. Environmentalists who oppose the Keystone XL state
that increasing our supply of oil will only make it even more difficult to the slow the current trend of
climate change, as well as the fact that the proposed pipeline runs through many ecologically sensitive
areas, such as the Sandhills of Nebraska.
3. Article 1: This article tells about President Obama vetoing Keystone Jobs Bill on grounds that
approval of the construction of the controversial Keystone XL pipeline would damage the U.S. effort
to curb greenhouse gases. The article frames Obama as an environmental hero, quoting the president
in saying, America is now a global leader when it comes to taking serious action to fight climate
change... And frankly, approving this project would have undercut that global leadership. And that s
the biggest risk we face not acting. The authors also cite Secretary of State John Kerry in saying The
United States cannot ask other nations to make tough choices to address climate change if we are
unwilling to make them ourselves. The

Problems:
As written in the case study, earlier the SYSCO operating regions had conducted their own HR
practices without consulting the HR department. This was the big problem and could have led to
negative impact on company s growth. Cooperation between operating managers and the HR
department is extremely important for HR efforts to succeed. HR also known as employee advocates
or company morale officers who serves all employee issues or concerns with managing organization s
strategies and goals. But without the HR advocate role, there could be a risk for employer to face
lawsuits and other regulatory complaints.
Another problem in the SYSCO case study was the safety. Workplace safety and security has grown in
importance along with disaster and recovery planning. Also, with explosive internet growth, many
employees and managers uses social media such as wikis, blogs, tweets and other techniques. Though
it is extremely helpful, but still the risk of social media is apparent. This could lead to many problems
such as leakage of trade secrets, potential customers information and privacy of all the employees.
Increase in safety issues resulted in increase of compensation claims by workers or other agencies.
A high turnover rate of night shift warehouse workers was another problem faced by the SYSCO.
Recruiting new workers regularly has become a big challenge for SYSCO.
Another problem was related to the

Romeo And Juliet Analysis
Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare early in his career about two young star
crossed lovers whose deaths ultimately reconcile their feuding families. Arguably one of his most
recognisable plays, it has been performed and adapted thousands of times into films, theatre, and
music, and continues to have a major impact on society today. As the play gets older, it is still being
performed to modern audiences but is this play gradually becoming aged and irrelevant to the modern
audience? Will it need translation into contemporary English to remain relevant? Through the theme
of fate and exploring the work of the modernised film of Baz Luhrmann, we can conclude whether the
traditional Romeo and Juliet will need a translation into modern English. Baz Luhrmann is the director
of the modernised film Romeo and Juliet written by Shakespeare in the 1700s. Baz Luhrmann s film
interpretation of Romeo and Juliet, uses the same old English that Shakespeare s text is written in, his
first scene could not be more different than the traditional opening to Romeo and Juliet. The Baz
Luhrmann Version of Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet has a different setting compared to that of the
play. The director had decided to modernise the whole play. By modernising the play, changes to the
weapons they used, their method of transportation and their homes, were made. Instead of using
swords in the play, they used guns in the movie. Instead of walking, they travelled by car and

The Limitations of GDP as a Measure of Well Being
The Limitations of GDP as a Measure of Well Being A primary aim of governments economic policy
includes economic development and management. The presence of a growing economy is perceived as
a positive characteristic; with increasing gross domestic product (GDP) being interpreted as positive
sign of social well being (van den Bergh, 2008). Countries with a high GDP have higher taxes paid to
government, who may use those taxes to provide public services such as education and health, which
in turn supports the well being of the citizens. Despite this the measure is often criticized as an
indicator of well being. To appreciate the value of GDP as a measure it is necessary to look at what it
is and how it may be used as well as recognize the limitation of using GDP. GDP is a measure of
economic activity in an economy. The measure can be calculated in three ways, measuring the output
by calculating the value of all the goods and services produced within a country, as expenditure,
measuring the value of all goods and services purchased with in the economy, which will include the
value of exports, but required reduction of imports, lastly the income measure, where GDP is
measured through the level of income generated, mainly through profits and wages (BBC News,
2011). Therefore, the GDP seen measurement of economic activity and since the 1960s there has been
a proliferation of statistics utilizing the GDP, usually on a per capita basis, as a proxy to indicate social
welfare

Symbolism In Frankenstein
The lessons the monster learns from the De Lacey family play an important role in the monsters
coming of age in Mary Shelley s novel Frankenstein. The De Lacey family is a poor family that the
creature has been watching from the outside for some time now. Eventually, he wants to make an
appearance to the family and show himself to get help. The perfect time is to knock at the door when
nobody is home, except for the old man. All the monster wants is somebody who will accept him and
care for him. As shown in Frankenstein, there is a strong symbolism in which the old man is blind and
can t see the monster. Yet, he accepts him for who he is, while the rest of the De Lacey family harm
him and beat him. Symbolism is also shown with the De Lacey family and their cottage. It has a
strong representation with the Garden of Eden as the cottage acts as the garden. The novel
Frankenstein has many different symbolic elements to it while being connected to the De Lacey s,
including the symbolism of the blind man, the way the monster reacts as the humans react to his looks,
and the comparison to the Garden of Eden. As shown throughout several chapters of Frankenstein, the
old man gives the monster affection and shows that he ll care for him. He was never able to judge the
monster by the way he looked, but only on the way he acted. As the old man said, I am blind and
cannot judge of your countenance, but there is something in your words which persuades me that you
are sincere. I am poor

Galilei During The Scientific Revolution
Galileo Galilei was an Italian scientist who built on the new theories during the Scientific Revolution.
The Scientific Revolution was a period that historians describe as emergence of modern during the
mid 1500 s to about the end of the 1600 s. As a young man Galileo, learned of an object that could
make far away objects seem bigger. The object he is referring to the the telescope the Dutch lens make
built. Galileo built his own in 1609, used it to study space, the stars, and The Heavens . Was Galileo
more revolutionary than Nicolaus Copernicus, Tycho Brahe or any philosopher of that time period?
Yes, Galileo was more revolutionary than any of those philosophers because he found and did things
that wasn t accepted during that time period. What did he do? As briefly said before he improved the
telescope. As to popular belief, Galileo did not in fact invent the telescope actually. A Dutch lens
maker named Hans Lippershey invented the first one in 1608. He did this by creating a telescope that
had a concave eyepiece aligned with a convex objective lens. His telescope could only magnify three
time original object. Hans didn t have a use for his telescope, however others made their own and used
it for spying and sailing. In 1609 Galileo heard about this invention and decided to create his own. The
tool that Galileo used was a refracting telescope. His initial version of his telescope only magnified 8x
however it was soon refined to the 20x magnification. He accomplished

Similarities And Differences Between Japan And China
Both Japan and China lie in the East of Asia. ‪
To a certain extent,Japan and China own similar
culture background, in the Confucian Cultural Circle. But when we look back into the modern history
development, Japan and China made quite different decisions when facing the western countries
aggression. China suffered the invasion in 1840 after the first Sino British War. Japan was in a similar
situation in the black boat incident in 1853, the Opium War made the West began to pay attention to
East Asia. From then on, Japan began to face the western culture. ‬

The main items of the Westernization Movement involved only ordnance, shipbuilding, iron making

  • 2. The Incident Of Troy University s Homecoming Something bad is about to happen, I stated as I looked over to my cousin s best friend. Apparently, I had spoken too soon. Pow! Pow! Shots were fired. Crowds of people were frantically running in every direction. What had just happened was not expected and had definitely never taken place before. Troy University s Homecoming Weekend in the past years had never encountered violence on this level. There was maybe a fight here and there, but never gunshots. I had never been so scared in my life. Troy University Homecoming 2016 had officially been ruined after this night. That weekend began like any other homecoming weekend. It was filled with fraternity parties, tailgating, and much more. The previous night, me, my cousin, and her friends ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We all followed. While waiting at the front door, I constantly observed my surroundings. A sense of nervousness came over my body as I began to look at the capacity of people standing outside waiting. That s when I noticed two groups of people having a confrontation right behind my group of friends. The conversation quickly escalated as one of the members of the group swings a punch at another member of the other group. The brawl was on; in a blink of an eye, both groups were on the ground tumbling and throwing punches. People were running towards the fight for some odd reason; instead, me and the girls ran towards the door of the building. Something bad is about to happen, I stated as I looked over to my cousin s best friend. Apparently I had spoken too soon. As I watched one of the members of the fight get up from the ground and reach into his pocket, I knew what was coming next. Fear immediately took over my body. Pow! Pow! Shots were fired. Crowds of people were frantically running in every direction. I began to bang on the door of the building in terror. Thankfully, someone inside the party heard the gunshots, and ran to open the door for us. Everyone stampeded into the lobby of Sartain Hall like a herd of animals. I looked over to my right, in hopes that at least my cousin had made it inside the building. She was nowhere to be found. • 3. Psychological Research And Its Impact On Society Drawing on examples from chapters 3, 4 and 8 of Investigating Psychology, examine and assess the extent to which psychological research is of value to society. Psychological research describes investigations psychologists undertake in order to review and analyse a specific hypothesis, (a theory about the relationship between defined variables). Research allows theories to be confirmed, amended or rejected and often leads to further research as requirements evolve. Psychological research can take many forms, from laboratory based experiments to non invasive viewing of subjects in their own environment. This research can take place using human or non human subjects and the analysed results applied to human behaviour or experience within many disciplines including, education, legal or occupational. Psychological research may be undertaken on a subset of society; however the importance of the results may have an effect way beyond the group tested. The value of psychological research varies and the same results can be used in different ways by different groups of society. I will be looking at three areas of psychological research that affect the way we interact with and can be affected by technological advances. These pieces of research were not undertaken as a result of current hypotheses, but were the early examples of research within their areas and led onto further research. I will be showing how psychological research can provide awareness, can be used to manipulate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Comparison Of Mexico And Brazil Essay Brazil and Mexico are both the giants of their geographic realms (de Blij and Muller 219,254). Mexico constitutes an entire geographic region of Middle America (200). The country of Brazil is also considered a single region in South America (239). Both of these regions have very large populations in comparison to the other regions of their realms. Mexico s current population of 102 million people has more than doubled in size since 1970 (219). Brazil s estimated population is currently near 167 million people (254). The populations of both regions are becoming increasingly more urban in character. At least seventy four percent of Mexico s population resides in cities or towns (220). Similarly in Brazil, eighty percent of the population ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Brazil lacked the large work force provided by the greater Amerindian population of Mexico. The Amerindians of Mexico were already familiar with working for native overlords, making the transition to working under a Spanish overlord a relatively smooth process (Suchlicki 31). To compensate for the lack of an indigenous work force, the Portuguese began to bring African slaves into Brazil as early as 1433. Out of the total population of the Brazilian colony in 1585 numbering some 57,000 people, 14,000 were African slaves (Burns 49). Although the Spanish who colonized Mexico were by no means innocent of enslaving Africans, the large numbers of Amerindians provided the bulk of the work force on Mexican plantations (Suchlicki 31). These historical differences in the regions of Brazil and Mexico are still evident in their populations of today. The Amerindian influence is strong in Mexico. While only ten percent of the population is full Amerindian (de Blij and Muller 220), the cultural influence remains greater than in Brazil. Less than one percent of the population is full Amerindian in Brazil (Microsoft Encarta). The population of Mexico is largely mestizo, people with mixed European and Amerindian ancestries (de Blij and Muller 220). The population of Brazil is much more diverse; it is more heavily influenced by European immigrations. The large numbers of slaves brought into Brazil from Africa have maintained their ... Example 1: normal embodiment of the body or The Perfect Body : The 2014 underwear campaign The Perfect Body launched by Victoria s Secret demonstrates the comercially marketable idea of a normal body. The knowledge produced about the idea in this case of the normal body is a standarization female of ideals within modern society. This image is a representation of the embodiment by society of what an ideal female should look like and is reflected into this Victoria s Secret advertisement campaign. Drawing on Lock and Nguyen s (2010) discussion on the natural body this advertisement presents a powerful example of how an ideal persists as the body is objectified to conform to a societal ideal in social representations. It also suggests tht the body is a homogenious space , women are classified and objectified and placed in a category and this is what the perfect body looks like. Explain Why Some Working At Home Are More Productive Than... 91 Percent of People Who Work at Home Are More Productive Than at Work When the idea of working remotely comes up in a conversation, I find that people tend to respond in one of two ways: total dread or utter delight. Some professionals recall the risks and difficulties of working away from the office, while others rave about having the flexibility to create their own schedule and work environment. Regardless of how you work best and where you personally stand on the topic, it s worth considering the benefits of offering remote working opportunities to your team and organization. With clear expectations and guidelines in place, remote working can bolster productivity and build trust within your team. In fact, in a 2016 survey of American remote workers, 91 percent of people who work remotely revealed that they re more productive than when they re in an office. • 11. Cosmia Analysis Cosmia was written by Joanna Newson for her album, Ys, released in 2006. The song features an orchestral arrangement by Van Dyke Parks. The overall theme of the composition appears to be that of grief and the process in dealing with personal loss. The cultural and societal interplay that this song invokes is evident through the exploration of instrumentation, genre, artist context and musicological aspects. The following table demonstrates the interpreted analysis of the musical structure. It is interesting to note that there appears to be many microstructures in the form of instrumental transitions from a section to another. Instrumentation within this piece, provides a crucial musical parameter that assists in defining the music structure. The harp and vocals appear to be the focal instrumentation featured within the song, as the other instruments fall within the role of embellishments and countermelodies. This facet is somewhat more apparent for the harp, that of which is present throughout the entirety of the piece, dictating the chordal progression. This elucidates it as the pinnacle of the instrumentation, and thus gives an insight into the composing machinations of Newsom s work. The first appearance of Section A can be divided into two parts due to the variations within the instrumentation. The second half of the verse introduces a range of instruments including jaw harp as well as the orchestral arrangement which is definitive of this particular section, as seen in ... One aspect of continuity is the theme tunes played at the start and the end of the programme. At the beginning of all soaps there is a main theme tune. In Eastenders the programme begins with the drum roll. It is loud and easily recognisable. As this is playing, a large birds eye view of London is shown. It gradually zooms in onto Albert Square as the soap begins. This sets the scene effectively as the audience instantly know where the soap is set. It also makes it seem more realistic as it is set in a real location as opposed to the setting being in a studio. In Coronation Street the theme tune is a violin melody. This also has easily distinguishable shots of Weatherfield shown as it is played. The theme tune is distinctive and one that the audience will recognise when they switch on to watch the soap. Theme tunes help to create habits for viewers who hear them and sit down to watch the soap. They set the scene allowing the viewer to become more quickly absorbed into the action. Another aspect of continuity is the reliance upon the cliff hanger scene at the end of an episode. • 15. The Importance Of Social And Personal Identity Everyone has an identity. A person s characters are the combination of their memories, thoughts, feelings, and personal experiences. If you are meeting someone new for the first time, what do you see? Their difficult childhood? Their struggles to get where they are? People can only see other s outer identity and not their character because the components that are the core of one s character is covered up by their external identity, the labels. The labels shape a person s social and personal identity in society and the environment they grew up in, conforming them to the norm and dispossesses the identities of those who are different. The human mind seeks order in chaos. It attempts to organize information provided to it. The human mind doesn t like the unknown, so it will find similarities that the unknown has with something it knows. When meeting someone new, the brain assigns a label to them, categorizing that person s characteristics and traits and group them with others with similar characteristics. A tag is created to differentiate people who differ from the norm. In society, people are labeled based on their race, culture, gender, etc. If you tagged a person as Irish, using that label, when you are describing that person to someone else, they would have an idea of what the person you are describing is like since they would associate the person s traits with similar traits with the same label. • 17. Elephant Seal Overpopulation Research Paper Elephant seal populations were some sorts of huge in the 1990s, but after that time, many bears started to kill those seals making the population decrease by a noticeable amount. After this, the population of seals remained very low undergoing what many called the genetic bottleneck effect, which is nothing more than when a population goes through a drastic reduction in size, leaving that certain population low in size for an indefinite amount of time. After this event, the genetic variation of elephant seal populations remained low for thousands off generations because this genetic bottleneck wiped out many alleles, decreasing the chance for those alleles to be passed on from generation to generation. After this mass effect, the genetic pool was immensely reduced, leaving this elephant seal population with very little genetic variation to be passed on for thousands of years. Genetic drift definitely did not take part whatsoever at the beginning when the population was somewhat big, but it surely started to slow down the recovery of genetic diversity once the population underwent the bottleneck event. Genetic drift only works when the population is little and there is almost no genetic variation between individuals. In other words, genetic drift should have ... • 18. Using Polystyrene ( Ps ) Standards For Calibration Essay Introduction: Polyimides are high performance polymers with excellent electrical properties, high thermal stability, and high strength and stiffness at elevated temperatures. They also have a high chemical resistance and are therefore typically not soluble in common solvents. Because of solubility issues the molecular weight (MW) and molecular weight distribution (MWD) of polyimides is near impossible to obtain and in some cases the data listed is based on soluble precursors to the particular polyimide of interest. These precursors are typically only soluble in amide solvents and because of this the results obtained are questionable due to strong interactions that the polymer, mobile phase/eluent, and stationary phase/column have with one another due to the polyelectrolyte effect. This article aims to determine MW and MWD of polyimides via gel permeation chromatography (GPC) by using solution imidization and thus not having to deal with the occurrence of the polyelectrolyte effect. Therefore, the overall objective of this paper is to establish the proper chromatographic conditions required to carry out this analysis with the use of polystyrene (PS) standards for calibration. Experimental: Polyimide samples were prepared in N methylpyrrolidine (NMP) by using a step wise reaction and end capping with m ethynylaniline in order to control the molecular weight. Via this process, theoretical molecular weights of 5000, 10000, and 15000 g/mol were achieved and analyzed with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She suggests that while being one with nature, we feel we are in a place in which we haven t imagined and the things in which we would love to do in that magnificent and calming place. I became aware of Faustus arrogance and his impatience with ordinary learning, particularly with his referral to law as a petty case of paltry legacies. He also constantly refers to himself as Faustus , reminding himself of his own importance. Other aspects of Faustus character are revealed in the descriptive language he uses. Because Faustus is such a sensual person, he is more inclined to listen to the bad angel, which appeals to his material side. Faustus is unsure of his own decision and he pounces on anything that could be construed as a sign to him to stop in the selling of his soul. When he writes the bill damning his soul, and the blood congeals, Faustus wonders what might the staying of my blood portend? Faustus questions Mephostophilis, who cleverly sidesteps each question and appeals to Faustus sensual side by showing him a visual display of dancing devils and fireworks. Even though Faustus called to hell, and Mephostophilis is standing in front him as proof of the existence of hell, he does not truly believe his soul will be damned. Most families that are living in poorer circumstances contain at least one full time working adult. This surely shows that the current minimum wage is not doing the job it was implemented to do, as families aren t being able to get by and maintain a good quality of life on these salaries. Supporting the argument that the living wage being introduced should be a government priority. This would thereby close the gap between the employed and unemployed in Scotland. Other government policies that are being introduced are also said to be a cause to rising poverty levels in Scotland. For example, The Guardian (2015) published an article describing how welfare cuts have put over 700,00 people into poverty since 2012 in the UK. Scotland is also severely affected as shown by a statement from Nicola Sturgeon (Left Foot Forward, 2015) discussing how the proposed cut on tax credits will have a devastating affect on 20% of the most deprived families, losing 8% of their income. Arguably one of his most recognisable plays, it has been performed and adapted thousands of times into films, theatre, and music, and continues to have a major impact on society today. As the play gets older, it is still being performed to modern audiences but is this play gradually becoming aged and irrelevant to the modern audience? • 31. The Limitations of GDP as a Measure of Well Being The Limitations of GDP as a Measure of Well Being A primary aim of governments economic policy includes economic development and management. The presence of a growing economy is perceived as a positive characteristic; with increasing gross domestic product (GDP) being interpreted as positive sign of social well being (van den Bergh, 2008). Countries with a high GDP have higher taxes paid to government, who may use those taxes to provide public services such as education and health, which in turn supports the well being of the citizens. Despite this the measure is often criticized as an indicator of well being. To appreciate the value of GDP as a measure it is necessary to look at what it is and how it may be used as well as recognize the limitation of using GDP. GDP is a measure of economic activity in an economy. The measure can be calculated in three ways, measuring the output by calculating the value of all the goods and services produced within a country, as expenditure, measuring the value of all goods and services purchased with in the economy, which will include the value of exports, but required reduction of imports, lastly the income measure, where GDP is measured through the level of income generated, mainly through profits and wages (BBC News, 2011).
