Macklemore Drug Abuse
In this song, Macklemore addresses the extensive amount of drug abuse in the rap industry, and the
effect this has on its fanbase. By describing his obsession with the rap industry, along with his
personal experiences with narcotics, Macklemore provides ample explanation as to why drug abuse is
so popular among youth. Furthermore, Macklemore writes this song as a warning for those idolize
rappers: Stay away from drugs. The song s premise suggests that although the rap industry is revered
for its musical talent, there are those that devote themselves to following its shady Otherside .
Macklemore alludes to the rappers Pimp C and Lil Wayne, as they have gained notoriety for their drug
abuse. Therefore Macklemore concludes that those devoted to them may follow in their ... Show more

Ranging from cold sweat, itchin , scratchin to trying to escape the skin that barely fit him ,
Macklemore s descriptions are vivid, yet hyperbolic, and are his attempt to drive youth away from
narcotic abuse. by instilling a sense of uneasiness in them. The line trying to escape the skin that
barely fit him matches this idea well. Ironically, the only way to suppress the withdrawal symptoms
was to take more of the drug, as Macklemore feels that the drug coated in the throat was just so healin
when it was actually killing him. Macklemore makes a plea to those who follow Lil Wayne by
affirming the effects of narcotic abuse throughout the song, and in closure, states that Lil Wayne is an
alien , as he can survive the effects of narcotics. Macklemore justifies this metaphor by stating that
because Lil Wayne was his inspiration, he attempted to walk in Lil Wayne s footsteps, only to fail
utterly. Macklemore asserts that the best way to avoid narcotics is to stop idolizing rappers, as he
makes a profound remark about his own life: There s no way to glorify this

Site Visit: Shabbat Service On the evening of the sixteenth of September, I was able to experience a
fascinating affair of which was utterly unfamiliar to me beforehand. I found the Friday Shabbat
service at Temple Beit HaYam to be enlightening of the beliefs held by members of Reform Judaism
while also simply intriguing. The Temple is located in Stuart, Florida and was founded in 1978
(Temple Beit HaYam). The building, as well as its inhabitants, appeared welcoming and inviting. As
such, I was greeted several times before entering for the service. Not only did I leave the Temple with

This phrase translates to repairing the world (What is Reform). In support of this mission, Reform
Jews strive to bring peace, liberty, and amity to all people of the world through the works of good and
charitable deeds. In addition to carrying out good deeds, Reform Jews meet weekly for the welcoming
of Sabbath on Friday evenings in services. Sabbath is seen as an everlasting sign of the covenant
between the Jewish people and God. It is often viewed as a point in which the Jewish people can
discard of the cares or burden of the previous week and welcome a peaceful state of rest (Fisher 285).
These services are offered at 7:00P.M. on Friday and 9:00A.M. on Saturday at Temple Beit HaYam.
The Shabbat proceedings are lead by rabbis of Reform Judaism. At Temple Beit HaYam, the services
are administered and lead by Rabbi Matthew Durbin. The congregation is committed to avodah , or
worship through prayer and observance, both while in and outside of the service (Temple Beit
HaYam). As supplement to the services, the Temple also offers educational services for both the youth
and adult members of the congregation. This educational program aims to teach Judaism as an active
experience in the lives of its students. The congregation also recognizes the importance of social unity
and the value of wholesome fun. The Reform denomination of Judaism remains to be seen in easy
contrast to other Jewish denominations for some of these

The Song Arms Of The Angel By Sarah Mclachlan
The song Arms of the Angel by Sarah McLachlan is an emotional song that many can relate to. It is
about the loss of someone close that has endured pain and will, hopefully, find comfort and peace in
the arms of an angel . Pairing this song with animal cruelty would release a surge of emotions in the
audience, which is exactly what the creators of the ASPCA commercial were targeting. ASPCA (The
American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is a non profit organization set to receive
monthly donations in order to save the lives of innocent animals being abused and neglected. The
commercial is trying to persuade animal lovers and pet owners, which is approximately 62% of
households in America, to donate to the ASPCA and to provide effective means to prevent animal
cruelty. The commercial appeals to the ethical, emotional, and logical senses of the audience with their
choice of speaker, the visuals, song, and word choice used, and the reasoning and statistics in the
commercial to persuade the viewers to donate and to expose the evils of animal cruelty.
One way the ASPCA commercial strives to persuade its audience is through its employment of
Grammy Award winning artist, Sarah McLachlan, as its spokesperson. 53 seconds into the
commercial, Sarah McLachlan is shown sitting on a couch petting a yellow lab, with the caption on
the bottom of the screen reading ASPCA Supporter . This particular instance of the commercial uses a
very strong sense of ethos because of how

Birthright Citizenship
Abuse the Use of the Birthright Citizenship
George Frederick Will, born in 1941, is a political journalist and television commentator. Will
attended prestigious colleges like Trinity College, Oxford University, and Princeton University. He
was very well educated in politics and educated students from Michigan State University and the
University of Toronto. His essay Subject to Interpretation , displays his opinion about whether
children of illegal immigrants born in the United States should be given the power of birthright
citizenship. Will gives his idea of how undocumented immigrants view their idea of birthright
citizenship as a free ticket to the United States. United States born children of undocumented
immigrants should not automatically be granted citizenship because the undocumented immigrants are
abusing the power of the granted citizenship.
In the United States, undocumented immigrants use the power of the granted citizenship to their
advantage because they want what s best for themselves and their child. Lino Graglia, a professor at
the University of Texas, wrote to a parent from a poor country: ...can hardly do more for a child than
make him or her an American citizen, entitled to all the advantages of the American welfare state (Will

immigrants remain in the U.S to receive government benefits. The parent from the poor country

The Portrayal Of Zombies In Popular Culture
Over the past few years, there has been a new craze over the undead , zombies. Like all monsters,
zombies have become a thing no longer just feared and instead obsessed over. Now, they can be found
on posters, movies, and even t shirts for not only adults, but also children. This zombie sensation
wiping the country has a varying portrayal. No two zombie movies are exactly the same, but many
themes can be found similar in all of them. Supposedly apocalyptic, zombies are generally destructive
and devilish. If this is true, why are they becoming so popular and is today s culture portraying
zombies correctly? Zombies, generally, are any human beings that are mindless, show now emotion,
and are driven to a specific motive. Being this way, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Maybe our entire perspective of what zombies are is actually wrong. From my knowledge, zombies
that are feared to bring the apocalypse are actually living beside us today. People in today s society
have become enslaved by many things, especially by their own desires. Like zombies, they live day by
day, emotionless and persistent. They do the same thing, the same way, 365 days a year. In my
opinion, zombies are not only the dead who are living, but also the living who are dead. Zombies in
real life aren t cannibalistic, but in the process of getting what they want, they may cause destruction.
The destruction can occur because, like zombies, living zombies will also do whatever it takes to
fulfill their desires. I believe that zombies shouldn t be feared or believed to cause an apocalypse. If
anything, we, living zombies, will be the ones to cause the apocalypse when we go brother against
brother to fulfill our own selfish

Summary Of Waiting For The Barbarians
In J.M. Coetzee s novel Waiting for the Barbarians, a Magistrate and his outpost fall into turmoil
subsequent to the Empire s endeavor to subjugate the barbarians. The Magistrate believes that the
Empirespecifically Captain Joll, a higher ranking officialhas unscrupulously entered his area of
power and unjustifiably tortures the barbarians so as to interrogate them. During the Empire s effort to
capture the barbarians and forcefully remove them from their land, the Magistrate struggles to
understand both his and Captain Joll s behavior as well as the true nature of the Empire. Though the
Magistrate and Captain Joll together represent the Empire, they approach the realities of imperial rule
discordantly. In other words, they are two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Evidently, the Magistrate s ordinary hunt develops into a point of great moral awareness; Coetzee s
description of the hunt being robbed of its savour and stand[ing] for something else accentuates this
idea (Coetzee 39). The Magistrate s virtuous act here distinguishes him from the rest of the Empire. In
other words, by refusing to kill the buck, he rejects the Empire and thus decides to diverge from its
cruel practices. Unlike the Magistrate, who understands the consequences of his conduct, the
Empireas represented by Captain Jolldemonstrates neither empathy nor responsibility. In fact, we
are immediately introduced to the lack of concern that Captain Joll has for animals in the beginning of
the novel when he reminisces on his hunting experience during which he killed so many animals that a
mountain of carcasses had to be left to rot (Coetzee 1). Such negligence can be compared to Captain
Joll s and other, similar imperial officer s unlawful treatment of the barbarians, who they have
displaced from their homes, publicly shamed, and tortured so as to prevent an alleged oncoming war
from occurring. Hence, similar to the buck, the barbarians lie in plain sight of the empire, suspended
in immobility (Coetzee 39). By characterizing the buck as suspended, Coetzee emphasizes not only its
helplessness in the face of

World History Reflection
On June 26th, I started my first online college class. I thought World History would be a great place to
start and relatively easy course to pass. I had no idea how the class would make significant changes in
my life. This class was far from a few easy credits I thought I would acquire in the short 8 weeks. The
few weeks with Professor Jared Harrington increased my literacy towards topics I would have given
up in the past. This class affected my world view, improved me as a student, a learner, enlightened my
view on world religions, forced me to analyze information from readings, and helped me formulate
my own thoughts. The amount of material covered in this course was immense and I now believe I
have a better view of religion, its role in history, and where the world is heading due to all the
historical events of the past. The first couple weeks of class were really interesting to me because we
covered the first humans, the rise of ancient civilizations in Southern Asia, and the beginnings of
religions that are still practiced today. The first society started in Mesopotamia in a lush, fertile, river
valley. I learned about the Paleolithic Age, Neolithic Revolution, and the Mesolithic age. The
Mesopotamian societies wanted to be able to explain things in nature so they created polytheism. This
helped bring together a group of people who shared the same beliefs, forming a civilization. During
the first couple of weeks, I learned of the major religions and philosophies we

Benefits And Benefits Of Working Flexibility
Today s organizations as often as need to deal with the ever changing client needs and wants, the
competition within niche markets as well as the rapid improvement of technology. Organisations
therefore need to execute flexibility in the workplace as it is a basic element to overall workplace
effectiveness. Flexibility is a methodology use to state when and how work is conducted as well as
how vocation are organized. Pilbeam and Corbridge (2002), describe flexibility at workplace as the
capacity of an organization to adjust the size, structure, responsiveness and expenses of the people
inputs required to accomplish objectives and goals of the organization . Working flexibility is about
how flexible work is organized in the workplace so that the organizations and employees benefits.
Workplace flexibility can be regarded as the capacity of employees to make decisions influencing
when, where and for how long they engage in work (Jeffrey, 2008). Flexible working is a kind of
working arrangement which gives a level of flexibility on how long, when, where as well as at what
times employees work. Employees access flexible working through HR arrangements, which as a rule
require supervisory approval. The changing environment of work is making new difficulties and
opportunities that organizations can only meet with the sort of alacrity that flexible working
arrangements provide. Therefore, implement a workplace flexibility strategy is a fundamental part for
any organisations,

The Rhetoric of Henry Highland Garnet in his Address to the Slaves of the United States
Henry Highland Garnet exerted powerful rhetorical strategies to the abolition and Civil Rights
Movements during the nineteenth century. His spiritual and loyal appeals complimented rigorous and
sometimes conflicting principles as seen in his An Address to the Slaves of the United States of
America. The captivating rhetoric of Garnet and his ability to form new alternatives and redefine
elements of contention signifies the rhetoric of strife, promoting African American loyalty and
emphasizing the courage of African American males. Garnet was a dynamic elocutionist, enabling him
to emotionally appeal to his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, instead of simply stating it, he utilizes an extended metaphor, personification and dark
imagery to capture the evils slavery will extend to all. Appealing to his audiences (fellow abolitionists)
pathos is vital in his cause to call for a revolution to free slaves in order to reveal the imperiousness of
the situation and allow the audience to empathize more so with slaves remaining in the south.
Furthering his purpose, Garnet s ability to construct new alternatives and readdress elements of
conflict is delineated by emphasizing the strength of African American males. He proposes,
Fellowmen! Patient sufferers! Behold your dearest rights crushed to the earth! See your sons
murdered, and your wives (...) let it no longer be a debatable question, whether it is better to choose
liberty or death (Garnet 350). Garnet asks the men if it is worth standing by, watching your family
endure such brutalities or die for their freedom. Offering an alternative and redefining the reason
behind his proposal is vital to the intended purpose of the message the lucidity of the assertion, the
logic of its motives and the effect of its evidence. The clout of logos on an audience is imperative
when trying to get the audience to join a cause. Henry Highland Garnet s Address to the Slaves of the
United States is acknowledged for the impact it has had historically due to the astounding rhetoric
articulated in the piece.

The Menominee Tribe s Fight to Protect their Culture from Destruction
While the mainstream media has its attention focused on North Dakota s Standing Rock Sioux tribe in
their fight against the Dakota Access Pipeline, there are many other tribes also struggling to protect
their native ancestral sites and cultural resources throughout the United States that are going
unnoticed. One such tribe is the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin. This tribe is attempting to stop
Aquila Resources Back Forty Project which would create a mine alongside and under the treasured
Menominee River. This open pit gold, zinc, and copper mine would destroy burial grounds, former
raised garden beds, ancient village sites, dance rings, and more. Thus, it is clear that the Standing
Rock Sioux Tribe is not the only tribe fighting to protect its culture and environment. In fact, the only
unique thing about the Dakota Access Pipeline is the national coverage it has received (Thompson).
Therefore, in this paper, I aim to do justice to the Menominee Tribe who has not been so fortunate to
find its plights in the public s view. The Menominee Tribe s concerns have not been fully taken into
account and valued in the mining permit approval process and news coverage of their fight has been
severely lacking. This paper will support this claim by utilizing data and information from numerous
sources to include data from Aquila Resources about the Project, testimony and stories from the

The Chalumeau and the Clarinet Essay
This paper will explore the early instrument known as the chalumeau and the various types of
instruments that have evolved from it. The chalumeau group of instruments were folk instruments that
were played with a single reed and the chalumeau itself is most commonly known as the predecessor
to the modern day clarinet. The instrument has only eight tone holes on its cylindrical bore. There are
many other single reed instruments that resemble the chalumeau and were in existence during the
same time period. I will be discussing the history of the chalumeau and its repertoire, similar
instruments of the time, and the evolution from the chalumeau to the modern day clarinet. My sources

The most common of these was the soprano chalumeau, but alto, tenor, and bass versions of the
instrument existed as well (Lawson). There is also evidence that there was no set key for these
instruments to be pitched in. There are a few examples of surviving chalumeau to back up these
claims. The first one, created by a many by the name of Liebav, is pitched in C and is 33 centimeters
in length. A few more exist made by Denner and Klenig are all pitched in F and are around 50
centimeters long (Lawson). While we have surviving examples of soprano, alto, and tenor chalumeau,
there are no remaining bass chalumeau for us to examine. The closest we are able to come to the bass
chalumeau are three remaining instruments close to the bass clarinet in size, but they more resemble
the bassoon due to their angled finger holes (Lawson).
The word chalumeau itself comes to us from both Greek and Latin roots. The Greek word calamaulos
means a pipe of reed and the Latin word calamellus translates to little reed (Hunt). Both words refer to
the chalumeau s use of a single reed. Because of its resemblance to many other baroque instruments,
the term chalumeau is also used to describe many different wind instruments in the shape of a pipe,
most often resembling the recorder, that are played through the use of a single or double reed (Albert
10). For instance, the mock trumpet from seventeenth century England is classified as a chalumeau

IPV4
Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) is the fourth version of the Internet Protocol (IP) and it is only
protocol widely used for the communication purpose in the computer networks and it works in the
Internet layer of the OSI reference model. The IPv4 address is 32 bits long. The 32 bit is divided into
four groups. Each group has the eight bits which forms as an octet. Each IP address has two parts
called the network id and the host id. This IP address is used as a unique identification address for the
hosts in the networks. Network ID also known as network address used to identify the network from
the large internetwork. All the computers in the same network will have the same network ID. Host ID
is also known as host address used to identify the host in the same network. There are five classes of
IPv4 address. They are Class A, Class B, Class C, Class D and Class E. Class A, Class B and Class C
are most commonly used, Class D is multicast and Class E is for the research and the development
purpose. These classes of IP addresses are used in different location based on the network
infrastructure.
The first octet in the class A IP address belong to the network part and the remaining three octets
represents the host part of the IP address. Class A can be written as N.H.H.H, N refers the network

received as a superhero and comic book character and is usually ranked as one of the greatest comic
book characters of all time alongside DC Comics characters such as Superman and Batman. But
Batman is stupid so there.. Except when he took on Superman. That was cool.

The Constitution
The American Constitution serve and protect American citizens. The Articles of Confederation were
the first step of writing the constitution. The Articles of Confederation were an agreement between the
original colonies. It bound the thirteen original states together in a firm league of friendship from 1781
until the U.S. Constitution was implemented in 1789 (Siemers, David J. Articles of Confederation ).
Although the The Articles are not in effect, they are in parts of the constitution. Nevertheless, the

The Constitutional Convention was scheduled to begin on May 14, 1787, but only delegations from
Virginia and Pennsylvania were present on that date. By May 25, however, twenty nine delegates from
seven states a majority had arrived, and the most famous convention in United States history got under
way (Tullai, Martin D. The Constitutional Convention ). Not everyone one attended the convention.
Of the seventy four delegates chosen to attend, fifty five came. (The full complement of fifty five was
not reached until August 6, when John Francis Mercer of Massachusetts arrived.) The average daily
attendance was thirty. On opening day, twenty nine people were present. Thirty nine would ultimately
sign. More accurately, thirty nine names appear on the document (Tullai, Martin D. The Constitutional
Convention ). Some of the famous people who attended the Convention were Benjamin Franklin,
James Madison, George Washington and Alexander Hamilton.
The farmers hand some key points that they made sure they were in the Constitution. Most important,
the framers thought they were creating a government with specific, limited powers. It could do only
what the Constitution allowed it to do, and nowhere in that document was there permission to infringe
upon freedom of speech or the press, or to impose cruel and unusual punishments.

Cosmopolitan Magazine Household
Cosmopolitan magazine is a common household name in today s day and age. The magazine boasts
catchy headlines, celebrities featured on their covers, and covering a multitude of subjects relating to
the lifestyle of modern women. However, because of this reputation, many of the editorial s readers
don t realize that the magazine has undergone many incarnations before its current one, including
family literary magazine and muckraking investigative journal (Landers). Schlicht Field began
publishing Cosmopolitan in 1886, as a first class family magazine . An entire department was devoted
to the interests of women, of which included cooking, fashion, décor, and the caring and management
of children. After Schlicht Field went out of business, just two years later in 1888, E. D Walker, a
former Harper s Monthly employee, became the new editor. He increased circulation with the addition
of color illustrations, serial fiction, and book reviews (Simkin). William Randolph Hearst purchased
Cosmopolitan magazine in 1905, and the magazine changed forever. Hearst seeked to use the
magazine as a purveyor of exposé journalism to aid his personal political pursuits , but when he
abandoned his political ambitions he returned Cosmopolitan back to a fiction periodical in the 1920s
(Landers). Well known writers such as Theodore Dreiser, Sinclair Lewis, and William Somerset
Maugham contributed to the magazine, only increasing the editorial s popularity. Hearst approach

Your Toolbox Of Social Work Skills
Your toolbox of social work skills
What are skills? Others can define skills in several of ways. How I define skills is being able to do
things but being very good at it, also to be able to pick up fast on a project that is given to you, or to be
proficiency at something that interest a person or a job. Skills mean the ability, coming from one s
knowledge, practice, aptitude, etc., to do something well. My toolbox of social work skills which I use
in my field would consist of the PACT Assessment, RAI Juvenile Risk Assessment, Data collected by
DYRS, communicate with the clients and also provide counseling and services as needed. With the

Evaluate your practicum mission statement
I am place at the DYRS Family Court Liaison Unit. The department mission statement is to effectively
represent DSCYF in court proceeding by providing a department perspective resulting in
recommendations that are presented in one voice and support positive outcomes for all participants.
The mission statement is exactly what is presented in the court. I rate the mission statement as is a five
to be an excellent statement. Everything I do in my field is basically everything that the mission
statement states. I like how the liaisons advocate for the youth and support the family. One thing that I
dislike is sometimes the parents come in with attitudes and the liaison have to compromise with who
they are, and I can understand how hard that can be, but it has been done.
The Liaison unit represents the Department in juvenile bail proceedings and provides intake services
for youth who have been ordered to community supervision by DYRS. This statement is what I have
been doing since the first day I started. The client has to fill out the form, and when it comes down to
processing the intakes it is hard to read some of the hand writing which can be frustrated at times. I
like doing intakes, adding the clients into the system. Good thing about intakes, it barely be more than
5 intakes a day. My field placement is a good experience; I like to hear most of the stories about the
clients, because I am amaze by what the children do to put

How Prawer Jhabvala Highlights the Culture Clash Between India and England in the Young Couple
Prawer Jhabvala highlights the culture clash in several ways. Firstly, by using themes. Secondly,
through the uses of images and languages. Finally, through the uses of characterisation of Naraian,
Cathy and Naraian s parent.
Firstly, Prawer Jhabvala uses the main theme, clash of culture to show the culture clash between
England and India. The first culture clash was shown on the reaction Naraian s friend to Cathy.
Naraian s friends were polite to her, but the trouble was they were too polite, in a very formal and
courtly way , and with such undue respect . The respect is unearned and should not own ... Show more

Naraian s family does everything for Cathy. His family gets involved very much between the couple.
Secondly, Prawer Jhabvala also highlights the culture clash through using images and languages. One
of the images I found is that the reasons why Cathy doesn t work. She has experiences on receptionist
to a Harley Streetspecialist, a sales assistant in an airlines office and a waitress in a coffee bar.
However, she knew it was impossible to get a job like that in India. Because of her, or rather the
family s, background and social standing. The sort of jobs this background and social standing
permitted her she was not qualified to do. Therefore, the main way of getting a job in India is
nepotism. On the other hands, in England, individuals find works independently of family. And other
images I found is that the attitude of family to Cathy s shopping trip. The mother said to Cathy, One
word, and I shall come myself with the car and take you . Our girls don t go into these bazaars alone.
It is not proper for us. Overly caring and involvement in the lives of the couple. It is not socially
acceptable especially for a white woman to go to bazaars

Summary Of A City Of Churches
The first example of someone being outside the norms of their community is Cecelia in the story A
City of Churches. The town of Prester was a town filled with churches, Cecelia moves to the town to
open up a car rental shop not realizing how different she was from the people who live there. She
starts to show signs of being different when she says she isn t very religious. Mr. Phillip s replies with
Not now... not yet. In a way, this shows how Mr. Philip s believes Cecelia will fall into the line of
society because as it stands right now she is an outsider coming in. She stands out again when she
requests to live alone instead of like the rest of the community. Mr. Philip s asks her For what purpose
did she want her own home, she responds with there is no particular purpose, and with that Mr. Philip
s says that is not usual in the town of Prester. In this scene, she also shows how she will not back
down or be afraid of Mr. Philip s. This can be seen when they talk about what she dreams to which she
responds mostly sexual things. This comment seems to throw Mr. Philip s off a bit as he says Prester is
not that type of town. She seems to do this to see how he will react and readers can see that she might
even be doing this to see if he will tell her to leave, or make her leave the town. The fact that Cecelia
is being so unusual and not wanting to live in a church like them, makes them a bit angry. The
community doesn t take her arriving and staying in town very well.

The Surface Stress on the Microcantilever
Mapped meshes are made according to requirements as it gives user control over size and shape and
deformation of the mesh in all regions The surface stress on the microcantilever surface can be
calculated from the observed microcantilever deflection using Stoney s equation Where Δσs is the
differential surface stresses on the surface of the microcantilever, is the Young s modulus, is the
Poisson s ratio r and h are the radius of curvature and thickness of cantilever beam respectively. For a
two layer piezoresistive microcantilever, the relationship between the surface stress and the relative
change in resistance ∆R/R for a piezoresistor is given by Where 1, 1 are the Young s modulus and
thickness of the polysilicon while 2, 2 are the young s modulus and thickness of piezoresistive,
whereas T is the distance from bottom to top of the microcantilever beam that contain the
piezoresistive and is the gauge factor of piezoresistive sensor, although above equation applies when
polysilicon and piezoresister both are different here [4]. The surface stress associated with the
deflection of micro cantilever is commonly calculated using Stoney s formula, which is simply relates
an induced substrate curvature to a surface stress. Piezoresistive microcantilever deflection process
involves the embedded of a piezoresistive material such as doped polysilicon on the top surface of the
microcantilever to measure the stress change, while the microcantilever beam deflects a stress

Un Peacekeeping In Rwanda Research Paper
A persuasive thesis on the UN peacekeeping mission to Rwanda:
The danger and threats of being a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, is difficult to understand
without having experienced them. An example of these challenges was the situation Canadians serving
the UN faced during the United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda (UNAMIR). At times, over
400 Canadian soldiers would face some of the worst violence that could be imagined while taking part
in international peace efforts to try and bring the African nation together.
For centuries, two African tribes have made up the majority of the country s population: the Hutus and
the Tutsis. The Tutsis dominated Rwanda s economy and politics for centuries. In 1960, the Hutu
majority forced the Tutsis to flee the country. Rwanda achieved independence in 1961, the Tutsis that
had fled the country formed rebel groups and repeatedly tried to regain control of Rwanda. This led to
decades of violence and stress. In the early 1990s, this stress flared dramatically. Violence grew

ABSTRACT: Components containing caffeine were composed into stock solutions. These solutions
were diluted to 1: 10 substance: mobile phase. A stock solution of caffeine was diluted 1:50. A
sequence of diluted caffeine solutions were prepared for use as a standard (ppm): 1, 2, 4, and 10.
Solutions of acetaminophen, acetylsalicylic acid, and Goody s Powder were developed to differentiate
chromatographic peaks observed. These solutions were subjected to HPLC for examination of the
observed peak area and retention time for the set of compounds. Comparison of retention time allowed
for the differentiation of peaks observed. The peak area obtained was utilized to determine the relative
concentration of caffeine present in Goody s Powder based on the relationship obtained in the
standard. The content of caffeine present in Goody s Powder by percent weight was identified.

Socrate and the Examined Life
The significance of the Examined life
Adrian Eames 951105878
Section leader: Elizabeth Grosz
The Trial and Death of Socrates takes place during a time in Socrates life where he becomes most
reflective. During these final moments of Socrates life a theme arises, that of the unexamined life.
Socrates claims that the unexamined life is not worth living (Apology 38a). Profound as the statement
may seem it creates many questions; what is the unexamined life? And why is the idea of an examined
life so dear to Socrates? It s clear throughout the dialogues of The Trial and Death of Socrates has a

Socrates uses his apology to to attack the wealthy and those who chase after positions of power
Wealth does not bring about excellence, but excellence makes wealth and everything else good for
men, both individually and collectively (apology 30b). This quote provides two insightful pieces of
knowledge about Socrates. The first is that it shows his perception of wealth and what it is to be truly
wealthy, to Socrates quality of life is wealth. The second is it shows that Socrates believes that doing
the right thing will lead to a better quality of life, or what he considers to be wealth.
Above all Socrates greatest interest is the state of ones soul. While Socrates is accused and put to
death for being an atheist it is clear that Socrates does believe in the gods and in fact believes them to
be all powerful. Socrates seems aware that he is destined to be put to death from the start of the
dialogues as his main focus is always on right and wrong, pious and impious. After spending what
seems like an eternity trying to define pious and impious Socrates and Euthyphro arrive at a dead end,
Socrates shows his determination by saying so we must investigate again from the beginning what
piety is, as I shall not willingly give up before I learn this ( Euthyphro 15d). It s clear that Socrates

Dear Mr. Mrs. Smith,
It was a pleasure meeting with you this past week discussing improvements with your environmental
footprint. As discussed, Rammed Earth Homes was the approach we wanted to take and as that, I have
prepared further information that will help you better understand the over all concept of Rammed
Earth home construction, the benefit to you down the road, the benefit for the environment and what

Rammed Earth Homes Overview
Rammed Earth construction has been around since 5000 B.C, often utilized in middle Eastern
countries, also leading its way towards Europe. As every option in life, Rammed Earth Homes, does
contain its Advantages and Disadvantages in regards to construction methods, cost and over all

dated as well. The first Design concept is called the Adobe. Adobe home design is a brick building

Essay about Human Microchip Implants
As the complexity and convenience of technology increases, some of the new advancements such as
microchip implant for humans and animals can be very controversial. At first, the implants may seem
to have benefits but in the long run they will actually cause more trouble than they are worth. These
potential troublemakers are about the size of an elongated grain of rice and are injected in the skin
under the arm or hand (Feder, Zeller 15). The chip is not powered by battery and there is nothing that
can possibly leak out into the body (Posada Swafford 8). An early form of this technology was used to

Maybe the low cost has something to do with the steady rise in pet implants. Another contributing
factor to the rise in chips is that many animal shelters around the country have the chips put in the

one of the highest numbers of stray pets in the nation, requires that all stray pets found must have the

their adopted animals implanted with the chips was the Marin Humane Society in Northern California
(Verhovek 5). Contrary to common belief, the tags in the pets are not tracking devices like the ones
put in wildlife. Instead, they have a code that when scanned through a computer brings up information
about the pet, including who the owners are. However, years ago the scanner used to read the chips in
pets could not read the chip if it was made by a different company (Lubell 13). Now, universal
scanners have been implemented that read all different brands of chips. The chips in pets are not only
used here in the United States, but also in many other countries around the globe. For example, any
pet traveling to Britain and France must have a microchip (Lubell 13). Because of the rising

There are multiple definitions for SIDS, otherwise known as Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
According to the textbook Essentials of Human Diseases and Conditions by Margaret Frazier and
Jeanette Drzymkowski, this disease is defined as the sudden and unpredicted death of an infant under
the age of one year . Another source, the Ohio Department of Health describes it as the sudden death
of an infant less than one year of age, which remains unexplained after a thorough case investigation,
including performance of a thorough autopsy, investigation of the death scene and a evaluation of the
clinical history . Although there are numerous explanations as to what this particular disease is, one
thing remains a certain constant: the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, multiple risk factors are thought to increase the risk of an infant dying from SIDS. The
textbook Essentials of Human Diseases and Conditions describes many of these contributing elements,
such as, smoking and drug abuse during the pregnancy, poor prenatal care, exposure of the infant to
secondhand smoke, prematurity, recent upper respiratory tract infection in the infant, sleeping in the
prone position, and a sibling with apnea . Others in the medical field believe that there are genetic
anomalies that can create a disposition to SIDS in an infant. One such individual is Debra Wood, R.N
at the NYU Langone Medical Center. In her article on SIDS, she proposes multiple genomic
irregularities that could play a part in the eventual diagnosis of this disorder: abnormalities in a section
of the brain that controls breathing during sleep and waking, abnormalities in the control of heart
rhythm, changes in how serotonin (a neurotransmitter) functions in the brain, changes in some
components of the immune system, inadequate arousal response to breathing obstruction or asphyxia a
lack of oxygen or excess carbon dioxide in the body caused by interruption of breathing; may cause
unconsciousness . The Ohio Department of Health lists multiple maternal factors that are deemed
important : placental abnormalities, low weight gain during pregnancy, anemia and a history of
sexually transmitted disease (STD) or urinary tract infection (UTI). Environmental factors to be noted

What Can Social Psychology Teach Us About What Happened At...
What can social psychology teach us about what happened at Abu Ghraib? By Mandy Stead During
the Iraq war that between 2003 and 2006, the united states army committed a series of human rights
violations against prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison near Bagdad. The violations included murder, sexual
and physical abuse, rape, torturer, sodomy, humiliating and dehumanizing prisoners. In 2004 the abuse
that was carried out was exposed by the publication of images that were taken by the soldiers that
carried out the violations. This paper will be looking at what social psychology can teach us about
what happened at Abu Ghraib. The abuse took place in tier 1A on the night shift. The soldiers involved
were all reserve soldiers who were not prepared or trained for this mission. They were asked to
interrogate the detainees take the gloves off to extract information out of them. The soldiers were
pressured into crossing the line to gain information by the centre intelligence agency, tier 1A was
known as the interrogation hold. One detained was mentally ill, he covered himself in faeces every
day, the soldiers would have to role him in sand so he wouldn t smell so bad and they named him
Shitboy . What was he doing in an interrogation hold? This is one example that shows the level of
humiliation and dehumanisation that went on. Philip Zimbardo was an expert witness for U.S. Army
Reserve Staff Sgt. Ivan Chip Frederick, who was convicted of five charges of abusing prisoners,

The Art Of Frida Kahlo
Frida Kahlo was an interesting woman that often portrayed her emotions, feelings, and thoughts in to
her works of art. Frida Kahlo was born on July 6, 1907 in a town now known as Casa Azul. In her
childhood, Kahlo was faced with many complications that should have ended her life. Being that she
was diagnosed with polio when she was six, and being involved in a fatal bus accident where most of
the bones in her body were fractured including her pelvis, she had a very hard childhood. In 1939,
Frida Kahlo created a painting that draws your attention as to why she created this piece of art. Frida
Kahlo is known for her surrealist ways since most of her works of art are seen as bizarre and often
graphic. From research, I am seeing that Kahlo had many personal tragedies that lead to the creations
of many emotional and raw paintings (The Art Story). In 1946, Kahlo received a national prize for her
painting Moses, (The Art Story). Kahlo, only 47 at the time, passed away on July 13, 1954 in Casa
Azul which is now referred to as the Frida Kahlo Museum. This painting is an oil on canvas located in
the Collection of the Museo de Arte Moderno in Mexico City. According to PBS.org, it is believed that
the painting expresses Kahlo s feelings since her divorce from her husband had just taken place. Kahlo
was from two totally different backgrounds being that her mother was Mexican with a Indian and
Spanish heritage and her father a German Jewish immigrant (The Life and Times of Frida

old Sweetie Denton was a school teacher and her husband, Perry Denton was a farmer. They d
acquired a hundred acres of land through much sacrificing and a lot of laboring hours. Aside from
being a school teacher, Sweetie babysat in the evenings and took weekend cleaning jobs. She even
helped Perry in the fields to keep him from having to hire more help, help they couldn t afford to pay.
When they summed up the lands purchase, it was clear that Perry had paid for only a few acres, but
the bulk of it, well over eighty percent, had been paid for by Sweetie. It was her labor and money that
paid and kept it afloat after Perry stopped farming it, he said it wasn t profitable enough to be worth
his time and sweat. But their property didn t take care of itself, the taxes had to be paid and with no
financial help from her husband, Sweetie took on more working hours and was barely home because
of it. With the excessive working hours, Perry was left alone, free to do as he pleased while she
worked and took care of him and the land. When Sweetie became pregnant, she hoped that

How Did Galileo Galilei Impact The World
All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered, but the point is to discover them. This was
a famous quote said by the great Galileo Galilei. The quote basically defines the method of
discovering things first, then understanding the truths and facts. This quote relates to my thesis by
showing the positive outcomes out of Galileo and the discoveries he has made. Galileo Galilei was,
known as the father of science, was an important and influential figure in history that had a
positive/negative impact on the world because of the inconvenient discoveries he made. For example,
the way he discovered that the world was not flat, but round gave many difficulties for many to
understand. Not only that, but he did also discover the four ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Not only that, but he was human like the rest of us and he had gone through pitfalls just like us as
well. Due to the trials and other such person things he had to face. Despite those circumstances,
Galileo Galilei did impact this world in a positive and negative way. The positive outcome that came
out of him was how the world see s everything right now. As america now, they can discover new
things and send people into space and other things such as not being scared to sail the sea and fall of
the crest of the world. To add on, because of this notice in space that galileo did, impacted on how
movies and other ideas were created. For example, star wars.
Now maybe not all came out positive though. The negative impact was that because of these
astonishing discoveries, religious people started to question their religious beliefs. Problems started to
happen more because of belief in other things. This caused holy wars and other aspects in how they
viewed their life. As well as a major world time event, the thirty years of war in between the catholics
and protestant in europe was a big event. Not to mention a well as the several plagues in europe during
that time and the death of queen

Voting Is A Right That All Americans
Voting is a right that all Americans have once hitting the age of 18 regardless of race, gender, or
financial status. However, not everyone chooses to exercise these rights or even fully understands how
to use them properly. Voting is not as simple as just going to a ballot box and checking the box for the
person whom had the most signs and television commercials. Being a voter means that one has an
influence over the government and who makes important decisions regarding the nation or state.
However, if one does not know all of the details about who they are voting for, they could be voting
blindly. It is important to do research and make factual decisions about who should be elected. If one
is not fully informed, than the less suitable candidate could be elected into office due to a lack of
information. All of the information necessary to make a strong decision is available, it just depends on
whether or not Americans go through the effort to locate it and use it. Voting for the most desired and
suitable candidate is important whether it is congressional district, senate, or presidency.
Texas District 12 Texas is a giant state with an equally big past. It began as an old western state before
rapidly becoming one of the most populated states and housing major cities. Fort Worth is one of the

district 12 is located. The district contains about half of Fort Worth and is

Essay on New London Eminent Domain
Justice Stevens believes that is it the right of the government for taking land from private owners
under eminent domain and using that land for public use. Steven believes that eminent domain is
constitutional as long as the public welfare is increased such as increasing tax and other revenues and
stimulating a troubled city. New London was an economically insufficient city compared to the
averages in Connecticut. He believed that making the city more attractive was making good use of the
Takings Clause in the U.S. Constitution. He also thinks that the city carefully constructed a plan in
order to benefit the community rather than hinder it. Overall, Stevens believes that by helping and
benefiting the city New London should follow their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The authors of these majority and minority opinions are quite different. Steven believes that making a
city more attractive and profitable is worth using eminent domain while O Connor believes that it
makes every home and business be put in jeopardy for an unnecessary use of overused power.
Although both agree that in some instances eminent domain is appropriate, they disagree on this
particular case of the New London community. Before I began to read this case I made my own
assumptions about eminent domain. Although I believe that it is not alright for eminent domain to be
applied to all cases, I do believe that eminent domain is necessary in this case. The city was very
apparently deteriorating and it is part of the cities job to make the community appealing again. Like it
was stated, the population has not been as low as 24,000 residents since 1920. That was over 50 years
ago. I may not always agree with using eminent domain in all instances but to make a city more
profitable and more appealing to residents seems to me like a good use of property. Just compensation
is something I may have a problem with. From what I have heard, the government does not always
give the

The Hepatitis C Virus
Acute viral hepatitis is the most common form of infectious hepatitis. There are five distinct viruses
types A, B, C, D, and E. Diagnostic markers of viral hepatitis include elevation of aspartate
aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, gammaglutamyl transferase, white blood cell count, and
prothrombin time.
Hepatitis C is an infectious disease that primarily affects the liver, caused by the Hepatitis C virus
(HCV).
The cause of HCV, is a spherical, enveloped, single stranded RNA virus belonging to the Flaviviridae
family and Flavivirus genus. The natural targets of HCV are hepatocytes and, possibly, B
lymphocytes. Lauer and Walker reported that HCV is closely related to hepatitis G. HCV can produce

Lichen Planus
Lichen Planus (LP) is a chronic inflammatory cutaneous disease that frequently involves oral mucosa.
Common symptoms are oral pain or a burning sensation, especially with acidic or spicy foods.
Symptoms are often irrespective of the clinical presentation. There is evidence of an association
between HCV and Oral Lichen Planus (OLP); however, this varies by region and further studies are
needed to fully confirm the relationship.
Diagnosis of OLP should involve a referral to a trained clinician in oral medicine or maxillofacial
surgery. The principles behind treatment of OLP are symptom management, immune modulation,
monitoring and education. Treatment of OLP is usually reserved for disease that is symptomatic.
Topical corticosteroids are normally the main choice of treatment for OLP.

Rise and Fall Housing Market
The Rise and Fall of the Housing Market

Introduction
The collapse of the housing market had far and wide ranging effects in the economy of the United
States. While the effects were felt throughout the country, California, Florida, New York, Michigan,
Illinois were dealt devastating blows to their respective economy. Throughout the country,
foreclosures rose to staggering numbers and jobs lost were in the millions. This research paper will
concentrate on the causes and consequences of the housing crisis and will attempt to determine if there
is any fault for not controlling the crisis.

Between 2004 and 2006, the Federal Reserve Board raised interest rates from 1% and capping out at
to 5.25%. Even with interest rates on the rise, the housing bubble continued to grow. Why did the
bubble continue to grow when typically interest rates increase homeownerships typically declines as
well? Economists look at the lending practices before and after the bubble. Prior to the bubble
standard typically included, documentation of credit histories of prospective borrowers, their current
income and assets, evidence of job stability and pay, and related factors that in theory help a lender
assess a potential borrower s ability to pay for a mortgage. During the 2000 s lending practices eased
with the government continuing to push their policy on continuing to grow homeownership numbers.
To continue homeownership lenders developed new innovative loans such as, piggy back loans
(80/20), adjustable rate mortgages, stated income loans, negative amortization mortgages, and multi
layered risked. These loans gave homeowners many options as with piggy back loans, allowed
consumers to purchase a home without having to put down a down payment, however they would
have a first and second mortgage. Many consumers also opted for adjustable rate mortgages such as
interest only loans. These loans allowed the consumer to purchase a home that would most likely be
out of their monetary range, with

  • 3. Macklemore Drug Abuse In this song, Macklemore addresses the extensive amount of drug abuse in the rap industry, and the effect this has on its fanbase. By describing his obsession with the rap industry, along with his personal experiences with narcotics, Macklemore provides ample explanation as to why drug abuse is so popular among youth. Furthermore, Macklemore writes this song as a warning for those idolize rappers: Stay away from drugs. The song s premise suggests that although the rap industry is revered for its musical talent, there are those that devote themselves to following its shady Otherside . Macklemore alludes to the rappers Pimp C and Lil Wayne, as they have gained notoriety for their drug abuse. Therefore Macklemore concludes that those devoted to them may follow in their ... Ranging from cold sweat, itchin , scratchin to trying to escape the skin that barely fit him , Macklemore s descriptions are vivid, yet hyperbolic, and are his attempt to drive youth away from narcotic abuse. by instilling a sense of uneasiness in them. The line trying to escape the skin that barely fit him matches this idea well. Ironically, the only way to suppress the withdrawal symptoms was to take more of the drug, as Macklemore feels that the drug coated in the throat was just so healin when it was actually killing him. Macklemore makes a plea to those who follow Lil Wayne by affirming the effects of narcotic abuse throughout the song, and in closure, states that Lil Wayne is an alien , as he can survive the effects of narcotics. Macklemore justifies this metaphor by stating that because Lil Wayne was his inspiration, he attempted to walk in Lil Wayne s footsteps, only to fail utterly. Macklemore asserts that the best way to avoid narcotics is to stop idolizing rappers, as he makes a profound remark about his own life: There s no way to glorify this ... Site Visit: Shabbat Service On the evening of the sixteenth of September, I was able to experience a fascinating affair of which was utterly unfamiliar to me beforehand. I found the Friday Shabbat service at Temple Beit HaYam to be enlightening of the beliefs held by members of Reform Judaism while also simply intriguing. The Temple is located in Stuart, Florida and was founded in 1978 (Temple Beit HaYam). The building, as well as its inhabitants, appeared welcoming and inviting. As such, I was greeted several times before entering for the service. Not only did I leave the Temple with a better understanding of Judaism, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This phrase translates to repairing the world (What is Reform). In support of this mission, Reform Jews strive to bring peace, liberty, and amity to all people of the world through the works of good and charitable deeds. In addition to carrying out good deeds, Reform Jews meet weekly for the welcoming of Sabbath on Friday evenings in services. Sabbath is seen as an everlasting sign of the covenant between the Jewish people and God. It is often viewed as a point in which the Jewish people can discard of the cares or burden of the previous week and welcome a peaceful state of rest (Fisher 285). These services are offered at 7:00P.M. on Friday and 9:00A.M. on Saturday at Temple Beit HaYam. The Shabbat proceedings are lead by rabbis of Reform Judaism. At Temple Beit HaYam, the services are administered and lead by Rabbi Matthew Durbin. The congregation is committed to avodah , or worship through prayer and observance, both while in and outside of the service (Temple Beit HaYam). As supplement to the services, the Temple also offers educational services for both the youth and adult members of the congregation. This educational program aims to teach Judaism as an active experience in the lives of its students. The congregation also recognizes the importance of social unity and the value of wholesome fun. • 5. The Song Arms Of The Angel By Sarah Mclachlan The song Arms of the Angel by Sarah McLachlan is an emotional song that many can relate to. It is about the loss of someone close that has endured pain and will, hopefully, find comfort and peace in the arms of an angel . Pairing this song with animal cruelty would release a surge of emotions in the audience, which is exactly what the creators of the ASPCA commercial were targeting. ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is a non profit organization set to receive monthly donations in order to save the lives of innocent animals being abused and neglected. The commercial is trying to persuade animal lovers and pet owners, which is approximately 62% of households in America, to donate to the ASPCA and to provide effective means to prevent animal cruelty. The commercial appeals to the ethical, emotional, and logical senses of the audience with their choice of speaker, the visuals, song, and word choice used, and the reasoning and statistics in the commercial to persuade the viewers to donate and to expose the evils of animal cruelty. One way the ASPCA commercial strives to persuade its audience is through its employment of Grammy Award winning artist, Sarah McLachlan, as its spokesperson. 53 seconds into the commercial, Sarah McLachlan is shown sitting on a couch petting a yellow lab, with the caption on the bottom of the screen reading ASPCA Supporter . This particular instance of the commercial uses a very strong sense of ethos because of how ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Will attended prestigious colleges like Trinity College, Oxford University, and Princeton University. He was very well educated in politics and educated students from Michigan State University and the University of Toronto. His essay Subject to Interpretation , displays his opinion about whether children of illegal immigrants born in the United States should be given the power of birthright citizenship. Will gives his idea of how undocumented immigrants view their idea of birthright citizenship as a free ticket to the United States. United States born children of undocumented immigrants should not automatically be granted citizenship because the undocumented immigrants are abusing the power of the granted citizenship. In the United States, undocumented immigrants use the power of the granted citizenship to their advantage because they want what s best for themselves and their child. Lino Graglia, a professor at the University of Texas, wrote to a parent from a poor country: ...can hardly do more for a child than make him or her an American citizen, entitled to all the advantages of the American welfare state (Will 363). • 7. The Portrayal Of Zombies In Popular Culture Over the past few years, there has been a new craze over the undead , zombies. Like all monsters, zombies have become a thing no longer just feared and instead obsessed over. Now, they can be found on posters, movies, and even t shirts for not only adults, but also children. This zombie sensation wiping the country has a varying portrayal. No two zombie movies are exactly the same, but many themes can be found similar in all of them. Supposedly apocalyptic, zombies are generally destructive and devilish. If this is true, why are they becoming so popular and is today s culture portraying zombies correctly? Maybe our entire perspective of what zombies are is actually wrong. From my knowledge, zombies that are feared to bring the apocalypse are actually living beside us today. People in today s society have become enslaved by many things, especially by their own desires. Like zombies, they live day by day, emotionless and persistent. They do the same thing, the same way, 365 days a year. In my opinion, zombies are not only the dead who are living, but also the living who are dead. Zombies in real life aren t cannibalistic, but in the process of getting what they want, they may cause destruction. The destruction can occur because, like zombies, living zombies will also do whatever it takes to fulfill their desires. I believe that zombies shouldn t be feared or believed to cause an apocalypse. • 10. Summary Of Waiting For The Barbarians In J.M. Coetzee s novel Waiting for the Barbarians, a Magistrate and his outpost fall into turmoil subsequent to the Empire s endeavor to subjugate the barbarians. The Magistrate believes that the Empirespecifically Captain Joll, a higher ranking officialhas unscrupulously entered his area of power and unjustifiably tortures the barbarians so as to interrogate them. During the Empire s effort to capture the barbarians and forcefully remove them from their land, the Magistrate struggles to understand both his and Captain Joll s behavior as well as the true nature of the Empire. Though the Magistrate and Captain Joll together represent the Empire, they approach the realities of imperial rule discordantly. In other words, they are two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Evidently, the Magistrate s ordinary hunt develops into a point of great moral awareness; Coetzee s description of the hunt being robbed of its savour and stand[ing] for something else accentuates this idea (Coetzee 39). The Magistrate s virtuous act here distinguishes him from the rest of the Empire. In other words, by refusing to kill the buck, he rejects the Empire and thus decides to diverge from its cruel practices. Unlike the Magistrate, who understands the consequences of his conduct, the Empireas represented by Captain Jolldemonstrates neither empathy nor responsibility. In fact, we are immediately introduced to the lack of concern that Captain Joll has for animals in the beginning of the novel when he reminisces on his hunting experience during which he killed so many animals that a mountain of carcasses had to be left to rot (Coetzee 1). Such negligence can be compared to Captain Joll s and other, similar imperial officer s unlawful treatment of the barbarians, who they have displaced from their homes, publicly shamed, and tortured so as to prevent an alleged oncoming war from occurring. Hence, similar to the buck, the barbarians lie in plain sight of the empire, suspended in immobility (Coetzee 39). • 12. World History Reflection On June 26th, I started my first online college class. I thought World History would be a great place to start and relatively easy course to pass. I had no idea how the class would make significant changes in my life. This class was far from a few easy credits I thought I would acquire in the short 8 weeks. The few weeks with Professor Jared Harrington increased my literacy towards topics I would have given up in the past. This class affected my world view, improved me as a student, a learner, enlightened my view on world religions, forced me to analyze information from readings, and helped me formulate my own thoughts. The amount of material covered in this course was immense and I now believe I have a better view of religion, its role in history, and where the world is heading due to all the historical events of the past. The first couple weeks of class were really interesting to me because we covered the first humans, the rise of ancient civilizations in Southern Asia, and the beginnings of religions that are still practiced today. The first society started in Mesopotamia in a lush, fertile, river valley. I learned about the Paleolithic Age, Neolithic Revolution, and the Mesolithic age. The Mesopotamian societies wanted to be able to explain things in nature so they created polytheism. This helped bring together a group of people who shared the same beliefs, forming a civilization. During the first couple of weeks, I learned of the major religions and philosophies we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Appealing to his audiences (fellow abolitionists) pathos is vital in his cause to call for a revolution to free slaves in order to reveal the imperiousness of the situation and allow the audience to empathize more so with slaves remaining in the south. Furthering his purpose, Garnet s ability to construct new alternatives and readdress elements of conflict is delineated by emphasizing the strength of African American males. He proposes, Fellowmen! See your sons murdered, and your wives (...) let it no longer be a debatable question, whether it is better to choose liberty or death (Garnet 350). • 15. The Menominee Tribe s Fight For Their Culture From... The Menominee Tribe s Fight to Protect their Culture from Destruction While the mainstream media has its attention focused on North Dakota s Standing Rock Sioux tribe in their fight against the Dakota Access Pipeline, there are many other tribes also struggling to protect their native ancestral sites and cultural resources throughout the United States that are going unnoticed. One such tribe is the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin. This tribe is attempting to stop Aquila Resources Back Forty Project which would create a mine alongside and under the treasured Menominee River. This open pit gold, zinc, and copper mine would destroy burial grounds, former raised garden beds, ancient village sites, dance rings, and more. Thus, it is clear that the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe is not the only tribe fighting to protect its culture and environment. In fact, the only unique thing about the Dakota Access Pipeline is the national coverage it has received (Thompson). Therefore, in this paper, I aim to do justice to the Menominee Tribe who has not been so fortunate to find its plights in the public s view. The Menominee Tribe s concerns have not been fully taken into account and valued in the mining permit approval process and news coverage of their fight has been severely lacking. This paper will support this claim by utilizing data and information from numerous sources to include data from Aquila Resources about the Project, testimony and stories from the Menominee Tribe, and ... The chalumeau group of instruments were folk instruments that were played with a single reed and the chalumeau itself is most commonly known as the predecessor to the modern day clarinet. The instrument has only eight tone holes on its cylindrical bore. There are many other single reed instruments that resemble the chalumeau and were in existence during the same time period. The most common of these was the soprano chalumeau, but alto, tenor, and bass versions of the instrument existed as well (Lawson). There is also evidence that there was no set key for these instruments to be pitched in. There are a few examples of surviving chalumeau to back up these claims. The first one, created by a many by the name of Liebav, is pitched in C and is 33 centimeters in length. A few more exist made by Denner and Klenig are all pitched in F and are around 50 centimeters long (Lawson). While we have surviving examples of soprano, alto, and tenor chalumeau, there are no remaining bass chalumeau for us to examine. The closest we are able to come to the bass chalumeau are three remaining instruments close to the bass clarinet in size, but they more resemble the bassoon due to their angled finger holes (Lawson). The word chalumeau itself comes to us from both Greek and Latin roots. The Greek word calamaulos means a pipe of reed and the Latin word calamellus translates to little reed (Hunt). Both words refer to the chalumeau s use of a single reed. Because of its resemblance to many other baroque instruments, the term chalumeau is also used to describe many different wind instruments in the shape of a pipe, most often resembling the recorder, that are played through the use of a single or double reed (Albert 10). At times, over 400 Canadian soldiers would face some of the worst violence that could be imagined while taking part in international peace efforts to try and bring the African nation together. For centuries, two African tribes have made up the majority of the country s population: the Hutus and the Tutsis. The Tutsis dominated Rwanda s economy and politics for centuries. In 1960, the Hutu majority forced the Tutsis to flee the country. Rwanda achieved independence in 1961, the Tutsis that had fled the country formed rebel groups and repeatedly tried to regain control of Rwanda. This led to decades of violence and stress. Hplc Determination Of Caffeine On Analgesic Powders CHE 333 03 11/21/16 Formal Report HPLC Determination of Caffeine in Analgesic Powders ABSTRACT: Components containing caffeine were composed into stock solutions. These solutions were diluted to 1: 10 substance: mobile phase. A stock solution of caffeine was diluted 1:50. A sequence of diluted caffeine solutions were prepared for use as a standard (ppm): 1, 2, 4, and 10. Solutions of acetaminophen, acetylsalicylic acid, and Goody s Powder were developed to differentiate chromatographic peaks observed. These solutions were subjected to HPLC for examination of the observed peak area and retention time for the set of compounds. Comparison of retention time allowed for the differentiation of peaks observed. The peak area obtained was utilized to determine the relative concentration of caffeine present in Goody s Powder based on the relationship obtained in the standard. The content of caffeine present in Goody s Powder by percent weight was identified. The second is it shows that Socrates believes that doing the right thing will lead to a better quality of life, or what he considers to be wealth. Essay about Human Microchip Implants As the complexity and convenience of technology increases, some of the new advancements such as microchip implant for humans and animals can be very controversial. At first, the implants may seem to have benefits but in the long run they will actually cause more trouble than they are worth. These potential troublemakers are about the size of an elongated grain of rice and are injected in the skin under the arm or hand (Feder, Zeller 15). The chip is not powered by battery and there is nothing that can possibly leak out into the body (Posada Swafford 8). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Maybe the low cost has something to do with the steady rise in pet implants. The first animal shelter in the United States to have all their adopted animals implanted with the chips was the Marin Humane Society in Northern California (Verhovek 5). Contrary to common belief, the tags in the pets are not tracking devices like the ones put in wildlife. Instead, they have a code that when scanned through a computer brings up information about the pet, including who the owners are. However, years ago the scanner used to read the chips in pets could not read the chip if it was made by a different company (Lubell 13). Now, universal scanners have been implemented that read all different brands of chips.
