Essay On George Washington And Alexander Hamilton
Throughout the history there have been many important people that have help built what we know as
the United States. During their time there were a lot of events that defined these characters to become
the great leaders that they were. In specific George Washington and Alexander Hamilton are the
reason we have some of our commodities and rights nowadays. They went through a lot of criticism
and hard work all for the good of everyone, but hard work pays off; this is why both of these
important characters are in the faces of our current currency.
The Washington administration faced many challenges, the Articles of confederation had many flaws
which brought problems. The new nation government was thought to be weak, one reason being that
the articles of confederation only gave a one house legislature. Which meant that the 13 states had
only one vote on any lawmaking rules and in order for it to pass at least 9 had to be for it. The nation s
debt was also a challenge faced but federalist Alexander Hamilton used his intelligence to use it to his
advantage and to strengthen the power of the federal government. Hamilton came up with Report on

challenge to the authority of the federal government was the whiskey rebellion. Many people weren t
happy about getting tax so they would start tarring and feathering the tax collectors. The tar would
burn when applied to the skin and usually was deadly because of how severe the burn would be. The
protest of the taxes became more violent to a point where they killed a federal officer. At this point
Washington reaction was to put an end to this rebellion, and ended up sending militia to end

Scandal Of Worldcom Scandal
On Wednesday of March 15, 2005, Bernard Ebbers who was former CEO of WorldCom received a
verdict of 25 years of prision. He was accused of one of the biggest financial frauds. WorldCom, now
known as MCI, filed the largest bankruptcy in U.S. history in 2002. The company s collapse led to
billions of dollars in losses for shareholders and employees. Ebbers was convicted in March of nine
felonies that carried a maximum prison term of 85 years. (Crawford). An extensive investigation lead
to the discovery of uncovered $11 billion dollars in fraudulent accounts. It was later discovered that
during Ebber s term of office as WorldCom s CEO, that he had been over reporting earnings and
downplayed expenses by $74.5 billion dollars. This investigation also led to the discovery of false
bookkeeping numbers and unethical lending practices among its top executives. Ebber s did not
perform this fraudulent action on his own. Right by his side he had former CFO of WorldCom, Scott
Sullivan who was sentenced to five years in prison and David Myers, former director of General
Accounting of WorldCom who was sentenced to only one year in prison. WorldCom was the largest
telecommunication company that evolved from a merger of Long Distance Discount Services along
with other companies in 1989 including Sprint and Verizon. This company was composed of about

Texas bureaucracy Essay
The state bureaucracy administers/implements the laws of Texas. It is run by executives whose job is
to see that the laws of the state are implemented according to the will and intent of the Legislature.
Ideally, these executive branch officials or bureaucrats are to administer their duties and implement
the laws in a neutral manner, uninfluenced by politics. In reality, state bureaucrats are important
players in not just implementation, but also policy making. In Texas, there is no overall central
governing or controlling authority. Government authority in Texas is very decentralized, and rests
within many independent state agencies.
A bureaucracy is a way of administratively organizing large numbers of people who need to work ...

The first solution that seems to fix a problem is often the solution picked. When bureaucrats pick the
first expedient it is called a satisfice. Kerwin notes that along the way rules and regulations may slow
the process and possibly prevent organizations from making decisions.
The executive branch consists of the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Comptroller of Public Accounts,
Land Commissioner, Attorney General, Agriculture Commissioner, the three member Texas Railroad
Commission, the State Board of Education, and the Secretary of State. Texas has a plural executive
branch system, which limits the power of the Governor. Except for the Secretary of State, all executive
officers are elected independently, making them directly answerable to the public but not the
Governor. The executive branch also includes several boards and commissions that are made up of a
mixture of elections and gubernatorial appointments confirmed by the Senate. In addition, there are
many independent boards, commissions, and agencies that operate independently of the governor.
Power is decentralized among many officials. Although the governor appoints over 3,000 individuals
to 285 plus state boards and commissions, he has very limited removal authority and thus, has little
control over the executive branch. Even with the Governor appointing several members of boards and
commissions, the overall effect is a large network of administrative groups that neither the

Eating Disorders Among Female Athletes
Eating Disorders Among Collegiate Female Student Athletes
Eating disorders (e.g., anorexia nervosa, bulimia) are not rare in today s society. They have become
increasingly common among young women. Research indicates that there is a link between the media
s representation of the perfect body as well as ideals of attractiveness with dissatisfaction of body
image and eating disorders (Ferguson, Munoz, Garza, Galindo, 2013). In this current literature review,
I will focus on the impact of eating disorders among female collegiate student athletes with an
emphasis on how sports can play an influential role in the development of eating disorders. Female
collegiate student athletes are at risk of developing eating disorders not only because of societal
pressures on women to be thin, but also due to sport specific pressures to change their body weight,
size or shape. Factors that contribute to sport culture and pressure on female athletes include
performance anxiety, revealing uniforms, and coaches influences on their athletes (Coker Cranney
Reel, 2015). Sports can be a way to pursue a passion and promote health, but unfortunately the
pressures that coincide with sports often become extreme. The pressure to be the best can cause
student athletes to resort to harmful measures such as playing through injuries due to fear of losing a
starting position on their team. Similarly, athletes are more likely to fall into disordered eating habits
because they believe it might help

Essay Explain the Platonic Concept of Forms
Explain the Platonic concept of Forms.
Plato believed that reality is more than what we sense around the world (e.g. taste, smell, hear, see and
touch), he believed that behind these physical realities lies a perfect version of them in which he called
Forms and that the greatest thing we can learn is to have knowledge and understanding of them. Plato
s theory means that what we can sense around us (for example a chair) is just a mere shadow of the
perfect version which exists in the world of Forms. The perfect version of a chair is one in which for
fills its purpose e.g. to be comfortable and to be sat on. Plato believed that everything had a perfect
Form, from objects such as pens and books to things such as beauty and justice. He ... Show more

This can be traced backwards to every single item that is in the real world creating an infinite
regression, and therefore we have to ask ourselves, how big is the world of Forms?
Another reason why is it true to say that Forms teach us nothing about the real world is the queries of
the Form of evil. If the Forms are perfect versions and what we have in the world of our senses are
just mere shadows, how much worse can the evil get? And do we therefore really want to thrive to
become the perfect philosopher if it means experiencing that? For example, if Hitler caused so much
pain and suffering to so many people during the Holocaust, do we really want to go through that but of
a worse/bigger scale in the world of Forms? And also in what form are is the evil in? In the form of
famine and disease, murder and genesis or something much worse.
Aristotle, another famous philosopher, argued against Plato s well known theory of Forms and stated
that what we seen and experience is material whilst universals are only abstract projections of this.
This completely contradicts Plato s theory and so do many other philosophers such as Thomas
Aquinas. However, whilst it is possible that one of these theories are right there is no evidence to
support it which is another one of the theories floors.
Another common criticism of Plato s theory is that although the Form of good has had an influence of
Christian teachings and theology, it is extremely difficult to see how

Essay about The Firing of Bobby Knight
The Firing of Bobby Knight
Bobby Knight, longtime Indiana men s head basketball coach, was recently fired. This firing sparked a
controversy among basketball fans throughout the nation; did he deserve to be fired? I believe that
Bobby Knight deserved to be fired. Although coach Knight is one of the best coaches in the nation and
has earned the respect of countless numbers of fans including myself, I do not believe that a coach
should be able to act the way he acted and get away with it. Coach Knight s record for abusing
players, abusing the media, and being a jerk should speak for itself and there is no doubt in my mind
that Bobby Knights firing can be justified. Bobby Knight s college basketball career goes back over 40
years. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Knight went on to lead the Hoosiers to a remarkable twenty 20 win seasons, including three 30 win

squad remains the only team in men s college basketball history to venture through the regular season
and the NCAA tournament, finishing the season with an overall record of 32 0. Knight, the leading
coach in Big Ten history as far as wins are concerned, has 763 career victories behind him which
leaves him 116 wins short of former North Carolina coach Dean Smith s college record 879 wins as
head coach. He has guided two U.S. National Teams to international gold, once in the Pan Am games
in 1979 and once in the Olympics in 1980. Coach Knight has obviously earned the respect of many
fans and other coaches, but the fact of the matter is that Knight had several problems on and off the
court that were overlooked for so long that some people think that he deserved to keep his job. Knight
s downfall in my mind was his uncontrollable temper and the fact that he could never admit that he
was wrong about anything. Most serious competitors in sports are expected to have an aggressive
attitude towards winning, but coach Knight s aggression goes beyond wanting to win. Before 1979
there were really no reasons for anyone to be concerned about coach Knight s temper. Sure, he had
always yelled frantically at the referees and screamed at his players during games,

The company I chose to explore is Whole Foods and the corporate social responsibility (CSR) they
adhere to. Corporate social responsibility, also known as CSR, means a corporation s initiatives to
assess and take responsibility for the company s effects on environmental and social well being ,
according to, Investopedia, (R., 2015). Whole foods are dedicated to contributing back to its people,
community, and the environment while profiting as a company. CSR is just as important as their
ethical practices including green marketing by utilizing the marketing of products believed to be
preferably used by people which incorporate a number of activities such as, environmentally friendly
packaging, sustainability, and modified advertising. The company s reputation of what they offer, the
treatment of their employees, behavior as a company, including the major factors of they represent

Theme Of Conflict In Go Set A Watchman
Although Harper Lee uses other literary elements, she is notorious for using conflicts in her novels.
One great example of hers would be To Kill a Mockingbird. The main conflict within the novel is
finding justice for a negro who was accused of raping a white woman. The prequel to To Kill a
Mockingbird, Go Set a Watchman, also showcases conflicts important to the storyline. Throughout the
novel, Go Set a Watchman, Harper Lee uses a variety of different types of conflict which contributes
to the theme that no matter how societal views are changing, one should not lose their personal values
and individual voice. The first area of conflict Harper Lee portrays is character versus society. She

The NAACP is standing up for colored people in the South who have always lacked the opportunities
white people have. Although Atticus may not agree with the NAACP, it is good for the organization to
have a strong voice among a sea of disapproval to support what they see as equality. A final type of
conflict in the novel is character versus self. Jean Louise is a character who does not even have her
own separate conscience until the end of the book. Her entire life has been spent shadowing her father
s thoughts and values. Dr. Finch, Jean Louise s uncle, explains, You had to kill yourself, or he had to
kill you to get you functioning as a separate entity (325). After Jean Louise moved to New York, she
started to become more and more independent. When she came home, she was forced to see that her
values and her father s values no longer line up. She had to find the courage within herself to tear her
father down at the end of the novel in order to benefit herself in the long run. By the end of the novel,
Jean Louise was able to discover her own values and voice and resolve the inner turmoil she endured
with the help of a changing society. Harper Lee s characters had to overcome many types of conflicts
in her novel, Go Set a Watchman. Jean Louise first needed to learn how to face the challenge of
adapting to the changing societies in her life. Although Jean Louise was open to the change of society,
Atticus refused to lose his voice

Women in Ancient Civilizations
The role of women in different civilizations, even though on different spectrums of the world, had
many similarities and only a few differences. Women in these four civilizations: Greece, Egypt, China,
and India faced many of the same hardships, struggles, and prejudices. Some of this treatment of
women didn t even end until present day (1920 s). In some of these civilizations women were able to
rise up somewhat in their communities but it didn t come without some kind of interference.
When it came to the rights of these women, they really didn t have any at all. In Greece women were
considered to be second class citizens at best. All women were forbidden to own property, inherit their

Essay about Apocalypse Now
Apocalypse Now
This film, from 1979 was directed by Francis Ford Coppula and starred Martin Sheen (Capt. Willard)
and Marlon Brando (Col. Kurtz). The film takes place during the 1970 s in the middle of the Vietnam
War. Coppula was rewarded for his hard work by winning the Academy Award for cinematography.
The story is based on the novel Hearts of Darkness , by Joseph Conrad. The book and film depicts
Capt. Willard in the middle of the Vietnam searching for Col. Kurtz, who has gone mad and started his
own private war. Apocalypse Now uses its scenes to show three types of horror including
psychological, gore, and surprise. Psychological horror plays with human rationalization. Gore shows
a stunning or violent action. Surprise horror ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Coppula uses psychological horror to illustrate the barrier between Willard s world and Kurtz s world
as a means of horror in the viewer s mind. The second type of horror is gore, in which a painful
experience is relayed to the viewer. Gore comes to life in films by using special effects to have the
viewer empathize with the characters. The best example of this in Apocalypse Now is when the river
boat captain is speared through the chest gruesomely. He then attempts to impale Willard, by him
towards him and using the same blood soaked spear still in him, before he inevitably dies. When you
see the captain get speared through his chest you feel sympathy for his suffering and you feel his anger
when he tries to kill Willard. At the same time, the viewer feels the desperation of Willard as he fends
for his own life. Coppula uses gore horror here to create the element of empathy and fear for both the
Captain, who dies for what is really Willard s war, and for Willard, who inadvertently has killed the
Captain by putting him in this situation. The surprise horror is created through a dramatic presentation
of events or a sudden shocker. By timing a motion or noise correctly the viewer experiences the
danger themselves of a situation. The scene that best uses surprise horror in the film is when Willard
and the character Chief are in the jungle looking for mangos. The two are suddenly attacked by a tiger

Japanese Imperial Expansion
The Japanese imperial expansion was a major cause of the battle in Singapore. In 1940, Japan allied
itself with the Axis powers and by 1941, Japan had effectively been engaged in a 10 year campaign of
expansion in East Asia in the quest for much needed resources, especially oil. Before expanding
further into South East Asia, Japan wanted to remove the threat of the US Navy based at Pearl Harbor,
Hawaii. This surprise attack was the beginning of war in the Pacific on the 7th of December 1941. In
just two bombings the Japanese had accomplished the sinking or damaging of 21 American ships,
destroyed 188 aircraft and damaged 159, killed nearly 2400 American military personnel and
wounded over 1000 people (including civilians). This surprise attack caused the fall of signore attack,
uniting America to work for the Allied military victory, as until this attack they were divided over the

Evaluation of the Opening Scenes of an Episode of the X Files
The opening sequence of the X Files episode Tooms uses a variety of techniques to capture the
attention of the audience.
The X Files is a very popular television series written by Chris Carter. The series can be described as a
hybrid genre because it reflects a number of different genres. The obvious genre is Science Fiction
because one of the main themes of the series is the paranormal. However there are strong elements of
the Mystery/Detective genre as the two main characters, which are FBI investigators, seek to find the
truth of the paranormal. There is also a Horror/Gothic element to the series because many

The affect of this is that the man seems vulnerable, and raises the audience s suspicion of what is
going to happen to him.
There is then a tracking shot of the man inter cut with a close up of a roadside drain, where the
creature Tooms is lurking. When focused on the drain, the camera slowly zooms in. when the camera
cuts back to the man; it is a low angle tracking shot. This low angle shot gives the impression to the
audience that they are looking through the eyes of whatever is in the drain. This gives the scene a
sinister and foreboding atmosphere.
This is emphasised when the camera zooms in of the businessman in a low angle shot and gradually
becomes slow motion. The entire colour is then drained out of the frame except for the man. This
emphasises the earlier point, and suggests the creature in the drain is focusing all his attention and
malice on the man. At this point there is a section of music that sounds computer generated, almost
alien. This adds to the malice of the creature and is repeated throughout the opening scene when there
is evidence that the creature in the drain is near.
This shot is then followed by a close up of the drain, showing two strange pale eyes. This maintains
the audiences attention because it makes them want to discover what is in the drain and why it is there.
The camera then cuts to a shot of a

Aboriginal Women are Oppressed in Society Essay
Throughout history, women have been the victims of oppression in society. In specific, Aboriginal
women have suffered through racism, sexism, domestic violence, and over representation. Through
the implementation of the Indian Act, Aboriginal women have been forced to abandon their culture in
order to assimilate into Canadian society. The effects of colonization has changed the way Aboriginal
women are treated; emotionally and physically, and therefore are the source of oppression today.
The Indian Act was created under the provisions section 91 of the Constitution Act of 1867 (Moss,
1990). The act was implemented to define who an Indian is and the rights that come with the title.
These rights pertain to status, bands and reserves for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Treaty benefits, health, rights to living on the reserve and property are forfeited as a result of losing
Indian status. This also happens when an Indian women gets married to another Indian man. She loses
her rights to her own band, and has to become a member of her husband s band. Ultimately, if the
women becomes widowed or abandoned then she loses all status of being an Indian all together. On
the other hand, men can marry a non status woman and all of his rights would be kept. With strides of
equality throughout history, it takes a step back when Aboriginal women are entirely dependent of
their husband. Several cases were took to court in the 1970 s, but not until 1980 is when there was a
connection found between the United Nations Human Rights Committee and the Canadian Human
Rights Act. With this section in direct violation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political
Rights, the removal of a woman s Indian status while marrying a non Indian man was done and Bill C
31 was passed so victims of the Indian Act can be reimbursed. However, Bill C 31 is still under
scrutiny because those who have their status reinstated to them can only pass it on for one generation.
This is a violation under Section 15 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms (Payne, 1992). The Indian

The Effects Of Mainstreaming O Essay
Abstract A wide range of research has been done on the effects of mainstreaming on learning disabled
children. Although many studies have shown improvements and positive effects, none had addressed
the best time to implement mainstreaming programs. In this study, students, who had been diagnosed
as moderately learning disabled, were selected to represent their respective grade level. Group 1
consisted of 15 students in kindergarten through 2nd grade, and Group 2 consisted of 15 students in
grades 3rd through 5th. Both groups were given the Woodcock Johnson Tests of Achievement Revised
at the beginning of the semester before inclusion was implemented, and another at the end of the
semester. Group 1 had shown a more significant difference ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

When these children are brought into the normal classroom, the strategy that many schools take on is
usually called a quot;collaborative teaching quot; approach. This is where special and regular
education teachers team up together to collaborate ideas and instruct students with disabilities in
general education classrooms (Martson, 1996). Studies have shown that not only do the learning
disabled students gain the potential to reach a higher academic standing when mainstreamed (Logan
amp; Malone, 1998), but they also are able to develop positive self images and improve social
development when included in the classrooms of normal children (Klinger, Vaughn, Schumm, Cohen,
amp; Forgan, 1998; Martson, 1996; Shinn et al., 1997). The increase in ability for learning disabled
students to recognize and identify words is one of the examples of an academic gain when included in
the normal classes (McCormick amp; Becker, 1996). When learning disabled students are
incorporated in the normal classroom, self esteem and feelings of self worth are believed to develop
more because these students are less likely to be identified as quot;slow quot; by their peers or to feel
stigmatized (Klinger et al., 1998). By being in the normal classroom, these students are also able to
have more time to develop and keep friendships that are created with the normal class children
(Klinger et al., 1998). Also, advocates of

The Rhetorical Analysis Of General Douglas Macarthur s Speech
As of 2014, the VA estimates there were 22 million military veterans in the U.S. population. Over time
the population of those to fight in the war has grown. There are many important contributors to the
war. One of them was General Douglas Macarthur, who was an American general and also chief of
staff of the United States army. Macarthur commanded in World War two and successfully led United
Nations in the Korean War. In his speech: Sylvanus Thayer Award Acceptance Address, he presents
the importance of the war, which fighting for our country to protect us Americans is noble.
Throughout the speech, Macarthur viewed The Thayer award more than an award, but symbolizing
honor. General Douglas Macarthur encouraging words create a powerful tone, and attracting who the
audience and purpose is intended for. Also connecting with his audience through emotional appeals. In
the beginning ,General MacArthur intended audience would be to General Westmoreland, General
Grove, distinguished guests, and gentlemen of the Corps. This is his intended audience because they
are present during the speech he is giving. However, throughout the speech Macarthur reaches out to
the men who are interested in the army, but also to those that might be confused on what their purpose
in life is. Macarthur state s, Duty, honor, country: Those three hallowed words reverently dictate what
you ought to be, what you can be, what you will be. In this sentence, he talks about how if these young

Effects of Alcohol on Coordination Essay examples
BIO103 Environmental Biology Effects of Alcohol on Human Coordination
Introduction:
Alcohol is known to produce many chronic abnormalities that are attributable to parietal lobe
dysfunction. The self becomes aware of the body being a distant object but it feels a strange
attachment feeling (Miller et al, 1991). Considerable laboratory research indicates that different levels
of alcohol consumption contributes to overall behavioural and cognitive functions and therefore the
reason for carrying out this study is to test the effects of alcohol on human coordination. According to
Allum et al (1998) Alcohol effects information received by brain receptors causing the working ones
to compensate for the defective information processed by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although this is the case, the investigation was poorly set out. Only one standard alcoholic drink was
consumed which, as shown in the data, isn t enough to lose coordination unless the subject had
extremely low tolerance to alcohol. Subjects were not discriminated by age gender and body weight
which would have shown different results if these points were discriminated against and would have
displayed a stronger correlation between the effects of alcohol on human coordination. The sample
was not large enough to show a strong enough correlation between alcohol and coordination in the
data therefore making the test inaccurate. Overall it seemed that as the subjects had more practice at
the game, the better they became.
In a past investigation carried out by Patel et al (2010), three groups of adults were assessed at 0.00%,
0.06% and 0.10% blood alcohol concentration to assess if alcohol affected body coordination.
Subjects were asked to rate their drunkenness on a scale from 1 to 10 for each group. Results had
shown that their score had no effect on body movement coordination patterns but those who consumed
a higher amount of alcohol experienced a more significant effect on their coordination due to blood
alcohol concentration. In this experiment, the groups showed a larger correlation between effects of
alcohol on human coordination and therefore more accurate

We are the champions. A line from a song sung by millions around the world is just one of the many

the Rock and Roll world in the 1980 s and their fame continues to grow.
Queen was formed in 1971 by Freddie Mercury, Brian May, John Deacon, and Roger Taylor. In 1973

Persuasive Essay On Butterflies
You have decided to release butterflies at your wedding. Do not wait too long to look for a farmer to
purchase your butterflies. It takes approximately 4 to 5 weeks to raise the butterflies. You want to
make sure that you are able to purchase the type and quantity of butterflies that you would like. So it is
a good idea to start looking at least 3 months or more in advance and reserve your butterflies,
preferably 4 to 6 weeks in advance. Most farmers ask that ½ be paid to reserve the butterflies and the
remainder is due approximately 2 weeks before the event.
When you are looking for butterflies, you will find that there are up to 9 different types that the
government allows to be shipped across state lines. Check Which Butterflies can Be ... Show more

wings. They are not as expensive as the Monarch. They also are a smaller butterfly, with a wing span
of 2 2 7/8 inches. They do work well in displays because of their size and they seem to be happy in
smaller areas.
Black Swallowtails Black Swallowtails are a beautiful butterfly. They have a wing span of about 3 ¼ 4
¼ . They are mostly black with males having a yellow band near the edge of their wings. Females
have a row of yellow spots and a iridescent blue band. They have tails that can be easily broken. Also,
if handled too much, their color does come off. These are raised by more butterfly farmers, but still
not by a majority of them. You may be able to use these in a mixed release.
American Painted Lady The American Painted Lady looks very similar to the Painted Lady. It has less
white markings on its upper wings. Not as many farmers raise this type though, and you may have a
harder time finding

The Song Of Songs In The Book Of The Bible
The song of songs it is a well known but not so well understood book of the Bible, it s 8 chapters of
love poetry and while there are an introduction and a conclusion, the book doesn t have any kind of
rigid literary design and that s because it is a collection of poems. They are not meant to be dissected
or taken apart. They are meant to be read as a flowing whole and simply enjoyed. The first line of the
book tells us that it is the song of songs which is a Hebrew idiom like, the holy of holies or the king of
kings it is a Hebrew way of saying, the greatest thing, this is the greatest song of all songs. We are told
in the first line that this song of songs is of Solomon, which could mean that he is the author, his name
does begin the book after all. But as I read the poems, I discover that the main voice of a woman,
called the beloved. And while there is also a male voice, it does not seem to be Solomon. Solomon is
mentioned a couple times in the poem, but he s never a speaker, and you do have to admit Solomon is
a very strange candidate as the author of this book, given the facts that he seven hundred wines. The of
Solomon likely means in the wisdom tradition of Solomon, he was known for his wisdom, his poetry,
his love of learning about every part of life. Also, Solomon became the father of wisdom literature in
Israel, his legacy is here carried on, through a collection of love poems that explore the human

endangered by wwf (world wide fund for nature) and endangered by lucn (International Union for
Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources)
Description: it is called leatherback sea turtle because of its tough and leather like shell, it has four
limbs, can grow up to 180 cm long and weigh up to 500 kg, out of the 7 different types of sea turtles it
is the only one that doesn t have a hard shell, their skin color can either be grey or black with white

On the other hand the negative impacts are that the Jellyfish population will increase and this is bad
because jellyfish consume large amounts of fish larvae (baby fish) and without the leatherback sea
turtle there to keep its population in check the amount of fish will keep decreasing and decreasing.
Beach/dunes vegetation will decrees because there will be no eggs to give it nutrients and this is
important because Beach/dunes ecosystems get very little nutrients and they need the nutrients to
grow plants and keep the soil in place thus there will be an increase in soil erosion. Unmaintained
seagrass beds are amongst the negative impacts that would occur should the leatherback sea turtles
become extinct. Maintained seagrass beds are important because many species of fish, shellfish and
crustaceans live and bred there so if there were no leatherback sea turtle to do this many species of
fish, shellfish and crustaceans that live and breed there would die and the population would decrees. If
the leatherback sea turtles became extinct there would be an ecosystem

the fire that medical researchers were trying to contain since the first reported case of AIDS swept

The Five most Important Events in U.S History
Five Most Important Events in U.S. History
To me, the most important events that left their mark on America were; Osama Bin Laden s death, the
American Revolution, September 11, 2001, Apollo 11, and Lincoln s assassination. I am going to be
arguing the reason why I believe all of these events to be the most significant, and important in the
United States.
Osama Bin Laden
Hitler and Laden were good friends throughout all of these attacks and damage caused. Laden had
plenty of supporters, but still nobody could take all of his serious, awful acts, seriously. People say and
have said that because of his death, we are now free at last. Bin Laden was such a terrible person
because of all of the attacks, deaths, and damage he caused. Laden would go out of his way to get at
the Americans by hijacking planes, destroying major land marks, and killing lots of people. Americans
now feel safe because of his death.
The American Revolution
The establishment of America was because of this event. George Washington was the leader of the
continental army. During this the Americans faced very hard obstacles. A majority of Americans had
opposed to war in the early 1775 year. Only about a third of Americans supported this war. This meant
independence. U. S. History all started with this. The surrender of Lord Cornwallis at Yorktown is
what marked the end of the War. It was the last war of the American Revolution. These battles were all
very stunning, intense, unexpected events

J.G. Ballard s Science Fiction Legacy
Ballard along with many other new wave science fiction writers believed that science fiction should be
taken seriously as a form of literature. In order to fulfill this belief the new wave science fiction
writers began experimenting with language and their style of writing, creating cognitive estrangement
, indicating a kind of alienation or de familiarization effect that they used to separate postmodern/new
wave science fiction from traditional/pulp science fiction. Ballard, amongst many others, is considered
one of the forefathers that helped develop the New wave movement to what we know of it today.
Ballard was born in Shanghai in 1930, where he spent the first fifteen years of his profound life. At the
age of sixteen, Ballard interned at a Japanese camp during World War II and, was deported to England.
He attended Cambridge University and obtained his degree in medicine, and a few years later he sold
his first story to New Worlds, a renowned science fiction magazine, in 1956. He is the author of
numerous novels and short story collections, including Crash, Empire of the Sun and The Atrocity
Exhibition. Ballard stepped into the realm of the new wave movement, early in his career with
apocalyptic/post apocalyptic novels such as The Burning World (1964), The Crystal World (1966) and
many others. Ballard was a writer who challenges easy categorization: even his most speculative
books can t be fitted neatly with a genre label, and his more mainstream works contain

Anne Frank Good Heart
Do you believe all people have a little good in them? Anne Frank did. She was a Jewish teenage girl
who went into hiding during Holocaust of World War II. She didn t want to live up to her mother s
expectations, mostly because she felt that she couldn t. All her mother wanted was for her to be more
like Margot, her older sister. In fact, she stated in her diary, In spite of everything, I still believe that
people are really good at heart. There are many reasons why she said this. But they all circulate around
the primary idea that she was an optimistic person and tried to always see the brighter side in
everything.
Initially, my evidence comes from Anne s Diary, which was found by Miep Gies after the Franks and
Van Daans were taken to the concentration camps in 1944. This quote can be found on page 356 in
lines 27 and 28. She says, As for us, we re quite fortunate. Luckier than millions of people. It s quite

Remember that she is only a young teenager, and that she s likely not aware of all the danger she s
truly in. Because of this, there is a huge impact on how she thinks of others. It s a lot easier for her to
believe that people are all good at heart this way. In her diary, Anne once said I don t think of all the
misery, but of the beauty that still remains, this quote shows how Anne recognizes all the hate and
sadness in the world, but she always tries to look past it and see the beauty that is still there. This also
shows Anne s viewpoint on people, and how, unlike her, most people first see the flaws of other
people, but she always tried to look past the poor parts and see the best in people. Also this is seen in
the play, such as we saw how she is caring for her sister and father. That is the last piece of evidence I
have that shows that Anne was a positive

  • 2. Essay On George Washington And Alexander Hamilton Throughout the history there have been many important people that have help built what we know as the United States. During their time there were a lot of events that defined these characters to become the great leaders that they were. In specific George Washington and Alexander Hamilton are the reason we have some of our commodities and rights nowadays. They went through a lot of criticism and hard work all for the good of everyone, but hard work pays off; this is why both of these important characters are in the faces of our current currency. The Washington administration faced many challenges, the Articles of confederation had many flaws which brought problems. The new nation government was thought to be weak, one reason being that the articles of confederation only gave a one house legislature. Which meant that the 13 states had only one vote on any lawmaking rules and in order for it to pass at least 9 had to be for it. The nation s debt was also a challenge faced but federalist Alexander Hamilton used his intelligence to use it to his advantage and to strengthen the power of the federal government. Hamilton came up with Report on the public credit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They didn t believe that there was a need to make a strong central government. Anti federalist stated that a very extensive territory cannot be governed on the principles of freedom . The first serious challenge to the authority of the federal government was the whiskey rebellion. Many people weren t happy about getting tax so they would start tarring and feathering the tax collectors. The tar would burn when applied to the skin and usually was deadly because of how severe the burn would be. The protest of the taxes became more violent to a point where they killed a federal officer. At this point Washington reaction was to put an end to this rebellion, and ended up sending militia to end ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The company s collapse led to billions of dollars in losses for shareholders and employees. Ebbers was convicted in March of nine felonies that carried a maximum prison term of 85 years. (Crawford). An extensive investigation lead to the discovery of uncovered $11 billion dollars in fraudulent accounts. It was later discovered that during Ebber s term of office as WorldCom s CEO, that he had been over reporting earnings and downplayed expenses by $74.5 billion dollars. Right by his side he had former CFO of WorldCom, Scott Sullivan who was sentenced to five years in prison and David Myers, former director of General Accounting of WorldCom who was sentenced to only one year in prison. • 4. Texas bureaucracy Essay The state bureaucracy administers/implements the laws of Texas. It is run by executives whose job is to see that the laws of the state are implemented according to the will and intent of the Legislature. Ideally, these executive branch officials or bureaucrats are to administer their duties and implement the laws in a neutral manner, uninfluenced by politics. In reality, state bureaucrats are important players in not just implementation, but also policy making. In Texas, there is no overall central governing or controlling authority. Government authority in Texas is very decentralized, and rests within many independent state agencies. A bureaucracy is a way of administratively organizing large numbers of people who need to work ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first solution that seems to fix a problem is often the solution picked. When bureaucrats pick the first expedient it is called a satisfice. Kerwin notes that along the way rules and regulations may slow the process and possibly prevent organizations from making decisions. The executive branch consists of the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Comptroller of Public Accounts, Land Commissioner, Attorney General, Agriculture Commissioner, the three member Texas Railroad Commission, the State Board of Education, and the Secretary of State. Texas has a plural executive branch system, which limits the power of the Governor. Except for the Secretary of State, all executive officers are elected independently, making them directly answerable to the public but not the Governor. The executive branch also includes several boards and commissions that are made up of a mixture of elections and gubernatorial appointments confirmed by the Senate. In addition, there are many independent boards, commissions, and agencies that operate independently of the governor. Power is decentralized among many officials. Although the governor appoints over 3,000 individuals to 285 plus state boards and commissions, he has very limited removal authority and thus, has little control over the executive branch. Even with the Governor appointing several members of boards and commissions, the overall effect is a large network of administrative groups that neither the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Eating Disorders Among Female Athletes Eating Disorders Among Collegiate Female Student Athletes Eating disorders (e.g., anorexia nervosa, bulimia) are not rare in today s society. They have become increasingly common among young women. Research indicates that there is a link between the media s representation of the perfect body as well as ideals of attractiveness with dissatisfaction of body image and eating disorders (Ferguson, Munoz, Garza, Galindo, 2013). In this current literature review, I will focus on the impact of eating disorders among female collegiate student athletes with an emphasis on how sports can play an influential role in the development of eating disorders. Female collegiate student athletes are at risk of developing eating disorders not only because of societal pressures on women to be thin, but also due to sport specific pressures to change their body weight, size or shape. Factors that contribute to sport culture and pressure on female athletes include performance anxiety, revealing uniforms, and coaches influences on their athletes (Coker Cranney Reel, 2015). Sports can be a way to pursue a passion and promote health, but unfortunately the pressures that coincide with sports often become extreme. The pressure to be the best can cause student athletes to resort to harmful measures such as playing through injuries due to fear of losing a starting position on their team. Similarly, athletes are more likely to fall into disordered eating habits because they believe it might help ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay Explain the Platonic Concept of Forms Explain the Platonic concept of Forms. Plato believed that reality is more than what we sense around the world (e.g. taste, smell, hear, see and touch), he believed that behind these physical realities lies a perfect version of them in which he called Forms and that the greatest thing we can learn is to have knowledge and understanding of them. Plato s theory means that what we can sense around us (for example a chair) is just a mere shadow of the perfect version which exists in the world of Forms. The perfect version of a chair is one in which for fills its purpose e.g. to be comfortable and to be sat on. Plato believed that everything had a perfect Form, from objects such as pens and books to things such as beauty and justice. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be traced backwards to every single item that is in the real world creating an infinite regression, and therefore we have to ask ourselves, how big is the world of Forms? Another reason why is it true to say that Forms teach us nothing about the real world is the queries of the Form of evil. If the Forms are perfect versions and what we have in the world of our senses are just mere shadows, how much worse can the evil get? And do we therefore really want to thrive to become the perfect philosopher if it means experiencing that? For example, if Hitler caused so much pain and suffering to so many people during the Holocaust, do we really want to go through that but of a worse/bigger scale in the world of Forms? And also in what form are is the evil in? In the form of famine and disease, murder and genesis or something much worse. Aristotle, another famous philosopher, argued against Plato s well known theory of Forms and stated that what we seen and experience is material whilst universals are only abstract projections of this. This completely contradicts Plato s theory and so do many other philosophers such as Thomas Aquinas. However, whilst it is possible that one of these theories are right there is no evidence to support it which is another one of the theories floors. Another common criticism of Plato s theory is that although the Form of good has had an influence of Christian teachings and theology, it is extremely difficult to see how ... • 7. Essay about The Firing of Bobby Knight The Firing of Bobby Knight Bobby Knight, longtime Indiana men s head basketball coach, was recently fired. This firing sparked a controversy among basketball fans throughout the nation; did he deserve to be fired? I believe that Bobby Knight deserved to be fired. Although coach Knight is one of the best coaches in the nation and has earned the respect of countless numbers of fans including myself, I do not believe that a coach should be able to act the way he acted and get away with it. Coach Knight s record for abusing players, abusing the media, and being a jerk should speak for itself and there is no doubt in my mind that Bobby Knights firing can be justified. Bobby Knight s college basketball career goes back over 40 years. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Knight went on to lead the Hoosiers to a remarkable twenty 20 win seasons, including three 30 win seasons. Knight s teams appeared in 24 NCAA tournaments and won three of them. Knight s 1975 76 squad remains the only team in men s college basketball history to venture through the regular season and the NCAA tournament, finishing the season with an overall record of 32 0. Knight, the leading coach in Big Ten history as far as wins are concerned, has 763 career victories behind him which leaves him 116 wins short of former North Carolina coach Dean Smith s college record 879 wins as head coach. He has guided two U.S. National Teams to international gold, once in the Pan Am games in 1979 and once in the Olympics in 1980. Coach Knight has obviously earned the respect of many fans and other coaches, but the fact of the matter is that Knight had several problems on and off the court that were overlooked for so long that some people think that he deserved to keep his job. Knight s downfall in my mind was his uncontrollable temper and the fact that he could never admit that he was wrong about anything. Most serious competitors in sports are expected to have an aggressive attitude towards winning, but coach Knight s aggression goes beyond wanting to win. Before 1979 there were really no reasons for anyone to be concerned about coach Knight s temper. Sure, he had always yelled frantically at the referees and screamed at his players during games, ... • 9. Theme Of Conflict In Go Set A Watchman Although Harper Lee uses other literary elements, she is notorious for using conflicts in her novels. One great example of hers would be To Kill a Mockingbird. The main conflict within the novel is finding justice for a negro who was accused of raping a white woman. The prequel to To Kill a Mockingbird, Go Set a Watchman, also showcases conflicts important to the storyline. Throughout the novel, Go Set a Watchman, Harper Lee uses a variety of different types of conflict which contributes to the theme that no matter how societal views are changing, one should not lose their personal values and individual voice. A final type of conflict in the novel is character versus self. Jean Louise is a character who does not even have her own separate conscience until the end of the book. Her entire life has been spent shadowing her father s thoughts and values. Dr. Finch, Jean Louise s uncle, explains, You had to kill yourself, or he had to kill you to get you functioning as a separate entity (325). After Jean Louise moved to New York, she started to become more and more independent. When she came home, she was forced to see that her values and her father s values no longer line up. She had to find the courage within herself to tear her father down at the end of the novel in order to benefit herself in the long run. By the end of the novel, Jean Louise was able to discover her own values and voice and resolve the inner turmoil she endured with the help of a changing society. Harper Lee s characters had to overcome many types of conflicts in her novel, Go Set a Watchman. Jean Louise first needed to learn how to face the challenge of adapting to the changing societies in her life. • 10. Women in Ancient Civilizations The role of women in different civilizations, even though on different spectrums of the world, had many similarities and only a few differences. Women in these four civilizations: Greece, Egypt, China, and India faced many of the same hardships, struggles, and prejudices. Some of this treatment of women didn t even end until present day (1920 s). Coppula uses psychological horror to illustrate the barrier between Willard s world and Kurtz s world as a means of horror in the viewer s mind. The second type of horror is gore, in which a painful experience is relayed to the viewer. Gore comes to life in films by using special effects to have the viewer empathize with the characters. The best example of this in Apocalypse Now is when the river boat captain is speared through the chest gruesomely. He then attempts to impale Willard, by him towards him and using the same blood soaked spear still in him, before he inevitably dies. When you see the captain get speared through his chest you feel sympathy for his suffering and you feel his anger when he tries to kill Willard. At the same time, the viewer feels the desperation of Willard as he fends for his own life. Coppula uses gore horror here to create the element of empathy and fear for both the Captain, who dies for what is really Willard s war, and for Willard, who inadvertently has killed the Captain by putting him in this situation. The surprise horror is created through a dramatic presentation of events or a sudden shocker. By timing a motion or noise correctly the viewer experiences the danger themselves of a situation. The scene that best uses surprise horror in the film is when Willard and the character Chief are in the jungle looking for mangos. The two are suddenly attacked by a tiger from out of ... Studies have shown that not only do the learning disabled students gain the potential to reach a higher academic standing when mainstreamed (Logan amp; Malone, 1998), but they also are able to develop positive self images and improve social development when included in the classrooms of normal children (Klinger, Vaughn, Schumm, Cohen, amp; Forgan, 1998; Martson, 1996; Shinn et al., 1997). The Five most Important Events in U.S History Five Most Important Events in U.S. History To me, the most important events that left their mark on America were; Osama Bin Laden s death, the American Revolution, September 11, 2001, Apollo 11, and Lincoln s assassination. I am going to be arguing the reason why I believe all of these events to be the most significant, and important in the United States. Osama Bin Laden Hitler and Laden were good friends throughout all of these attacks and damage caused. Laden had plenty of supporters, but still nobody could take all of his serious, awful acts, seriously. People say and have said that because of his death, we are now free at last. Bin Laden was such a terrible person because of all of the attacks, deaths, and damage he caused. Laden would go out of his way to get at the Americans by hijacking planes, destroying major land marks, and killing lots of people. Americans now feel safe because of his death. The American Revolution The establishment of America was because of this event. George Washington was the leader of the continental army. During this the Americans faced very hard obstacles. A majority of Americans had opposed to war in the early 1775 year. Only about a third of Americans supported this war. This meant independence. U. S. History all started with this. The surrender of Lord Cornwallis at Yorktown is what marked the end of the War. It was the last war of the American Revolution. These battles were all very stunning, intense, unexpected events ... • 32. J.G. Ballard s Science Fiction Legacy Ballard along with many other new wave science fiction writers believed that science fiction should be taken seriously as a form of literature. In order to fulfill this belief the new wave science fiction writers began experimenting with language and their style of writing, creating cognitive estrangement , indicating a kind of alienation or de familiarization effect that they used to separate postmodern/new wave science fiction from traditional/pulp science fiction. Ballard, amongst many others, is considered one of the forefathers that helped develop the New wave movement to what we know of it today. Ballard was born in Shanghai in 1930, where he spent the first fifteen years of his profound life. At the age of sixteen, Ballard interned at a Japanese camp during World War II and, was deported to England. He attended Cambridge University and obtained his degree in medicine, and a few years later he sold his first story to New Worlds, a renowned science fiction magazine, in 1956. He is the author of numerous novels and short story collections, including Crash, Empire of the Sun and The Atrocity Exhibition. Ballard stepped into the realm of the new wave movement, early in his career with apocalyptic/post apocalyptic novels such as The Burning World (1964), The Crystal World (1966) and many others. Ballard was a writer who challenges easy categorization: even his most speculative books can t be fitted neatly with a genre label, and his more mainstream works contain ... • 34. Anne Frank Good Heart Do you believe all people have a little good in them? Anne Frank did. She was a Jewish teenage girl who went into hiding during Holocaust of World War II. She didn t want to live up to her mother s expectations, mostly because she felt that she couldn t. All her mother wanted was for her to be more like Margot, her older sister. In fact, she stated in her diary, In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart. There are many reasons why she said this. But they all circulate around the primary idea that she was an optimistic person and tried to always see the brighter side in everything. Initially, my evidence comes from Anne s Diary, which was found by Miep Gies after the Franks and Van Daans were taken to the concentration camps in 1944. This quote can be found on page 356 in lines 27 and 28. She says, As for us, we re quite fortunate. Luckier than millions of people. It s quite safe here... As I stated before, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Remember that she is only a young teenager, and that she s likely not aware of all the danger she s truly in. Because of this, there is a huge impact on how she thinks of others. It s a lot easier for her to believe that people are all good at heart this way. In her diary, Anne once said I don t think of all the misery, but of the beauty that still remains, this quote shows how Anne recognizes all the hate and sadness in the world, but she always tries to look past it and see the beauty that is still there. This also shows Anne s viewpoint on people, and how, unlike her, most people first see the flaws of other people, but she always tried to look past the poor parts and see the best in people. Also this is seen in the play, such as we saw how she is caring for her sister and father. That is the last piece of evidence I have that shows that Anne was a positive ...
