Essay about Hollywood s Take on the Civil War
The film, Gone with the Wind became a cultural phenomenon after its release in 1939. The Civil War
based film follows the storyline of Scarlett O Hara. The lead heroine is dealt with the hardships of
love as well as the destruction of her town. Set in the South, the movie stresses the community s
devotion to the confederacy. After its box office success, many historians believed that the film had a
strong influence on America s perception of the Civil War. That influence being a backing attitude
towards the Lost Cause. The term Lost Cause refers to the white southerners admirable view towards
the defeated confederacy. In Gone with the Wind, this idea was expressed in several scenes. For
example, one of the leading characters, Rhett ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They even dance with excitement as their master looks on. Critics argue that this is a distorted view on
racial history. Since the standpoint of the film revolves around white southerners, the scene attempts to
glamorize slavery. In another display of discrimination, a newly elected group of Black legislators
begin session. While in debate, african americans are shown drinking whiskey, devouring chicken, and
removing their shoes. The purpose of this scene was to show the inability of African Americans to
govern a nation. In illustrating blacks as barbaric and ill mannered, the movie exhibits why the elite
whites need to stay in power. With a focus on the Lost Cause, Birth of a Nation put a favorable stance
on the South s ideologies. One of those ideologies being white superiority. When Birth of a Nation
was released, the National Association of the Advancement of Colored People ( NAACP) panned the
film s disregard of civil rights. As a result, the organization staged a massive protest at an opening of
the film held in New York City. The NAACP urged whites to boycott the film. However, the idea of
reserved seating and dressing people up as Klansman to advertise the film drew in millions. Even with
daily rallies opposing the movie, Birth of a Nation grew to be the most successful picture in the silent
movie era. Thus, the NAACP chose to instead pressure the director, D.W. Griffith, in cutting some of
the more offensive scenes. One that included a group of

The Symbolism Of The Statue Of Liberty
The Statue of Liberty was created on October 28th of 1886 and currently stands in Liberty Island in
New York. The statues torch is made of gold, the internal framework is composed of steel and
wrought iron, and the external body is composed of copper. The outside portion is composed of
copper that has naturally oxidized over time and has gained its signature green color. The Statue of
Liberty is relatively large standing at over three hundred feet tall from base to the tip of the the torch.
Created by the French sculptor Fredric Auguste Bartholdi, Lady Liberty was sent as a gift as a symbol
of friendship and alliance established between America and France during the American Revolution
(1775 1783). She attracted people from all around the nation to witness her magnificence and stunning
beauty. Lady Liberty has represented American freedom and embraced diversity by being the warm
welcomer of immigrants from all around the world. However, over time the country that she
represents has changed and doesn t necessarily reflect the values that she proudly stands tall for
anymore. The same country who s own politicians cannot come to terms in regard to the immigration
policy. These are the same politicians who s ethical values seem to be in question. The statue has so
many little yet powerful symbols that truly make it a unique and one of a kind piece. The torch for
example is a symbol that is used to represent enlightenment, liberty, and freedom. The illumination

Antidepressants
Biological Treatments for Depression
Antidepressants are a type of medication that is used to treat people with the symptoms of depression.
There are 30 different types of antidepressants available to give patients depending on their severity of
depression.
The aim of antidepressants is to increase the levels of the neurotransmitter which are chemicals, they
are produced in the brain. The antidepressants targets and increases the levels of three types of
neurotransmitters; (A neurotransmitter is a chemical which is released in the brain which allows the
messages to travel.) serotonin (this neurotransmitter regulates the other neurotransmitter) and

Write An Essay On Deaf Culture
A boy named Steven has never listened to the sound of a radio, or heard the voice of his mother and
father. Since these situations are typical for a hearing person, they are taken for granted. These are
everyday scenarios that will never be a part of a deaf person s life. 360 million people worldwide have
disabling hearing loss (1), and 32 million of these are children. (Deafness and hearing loss Fact sheet,
February 2017). Since having a hearing disability is common in society, everyone should learn how to
communicate, and interact with the deaf people through their culture. So, what exactly is deaf culture?
Deaf culture differs from hearing culture by having different language, social beliefs, art, education,
and technology. Having a culture that caters to the deaf allows people to not focus on the incapability
to hear. Instead this lets deaf individuals to be themselves without judgement. Also, making their daily
tasks easier in a hearing world.
What is the sense of Hearing? Technically research says: Hearing depends on a series of complex
steps that change sound waves in the air into electrical signals. Our auditory nerve then carries these
signals to the brain . (How Do We Hear? July 2015). Hearing allows people to live without
boundaries. To respect and appreciate the real nature of deafness, first one must appreciate their
current state of hearing. Every day, people hear different simple sounds of birds chirping, traffic,
voices of others, the radio

Lord Of The Flies Themes
Golding´s book The Lord of the Flies has many different background meanings to it. Two themes that
some critics think of are that people are born with evil already in them and that there is no hope for
humanity. These themes are shown throughout the book in what the characters say and do. In this
book there are many conflicts where the boys bully each other in an inhumane way, which shows how
evil they really are. Also the boys lose hope for being rescued and start to go back to the more
primitive ways of mankind. Golding definitely comes across in his work as some who may think that
there is no hope for mankind and that all people are born with evil in them. One of the first examples
of there being a theme for no hope for humanity is what Piggy first says to Ralph. Ralph and Piggy are
arguing (pg. 14) and Piggy says They re all dead...Nobody don t know we re here. Your dad don t
know, nobody don t know. When he says this, Piggy shows the reader that he thinks there is no hope
for them to be rescued from the island. To some people, Golding may be hinting that there is no hope
for people to be rescued from times of war. War seems to be ongoing, when one war ends another war
begins. Until people end wars there is no hope for peace in the world. ... Show more content on

Ralph learns that Jack plans on having everyone hunt for him is when he speaks with Samneric (pg.
188) They hate you Ralph...They re going to hunt you tomorrow. Critics might think that this shows
there is no hope for humanity to keep moving forward. When the boys decide to hunt Ralph it shows a
more primitive side of humans, in the way that instead of working something out, they decide to
eliminate the problem all together. Golding makes it seem as if he thinks that humans will start to go
back to their original state and that there is no hope that people will

Significant Place
September 3rd, 2010 Significant Place: Brooklyn, New York Many people have a place that is very
significant to them. In my opinion, having a significant place is a very good thing because that means
that significant place has a meaning. Brooklyn, New York, is the original hometown of the majority of
my family and they have a very significant background history there. Brooklyn, New York is a very
capacious city. My favorite thing to do there is shop. When I go shopping, I often enjoy seeing the
enormous crowds in the downtown area which lets me know I am in New York. I try to ignore the

The Importance of United Cerebral Palsy s Assistance to Developmentally Disabled Adults and the
Health Care System as a Whole
Introduction
Children born today have a fifty fifty chance to live to be one hundred years old or more, and the
quality of their lives will be affected by the research and empirical data that is being generated by
organizations dedicated to helping developmentally disabled adults live more meaningful lives. These
programs also serve as a benchmark in the battle against cerebral palsy in general and provide
valuable best practice examples, thereby influencing the American health care system as a whole.
While the search for a cure continues, cerebral palsy represents a debilitating disease that can
adversely affect the ability of sufferers to provide for the basic needs of living, but with appropriate
treatment and care, many are able to accomplish far more than most observers might believe in terms
of their independence, productivity and integration with larger American society, goals that are also
legally mandated. To determine how these positive clinical outcomes are possible, this paper provides
a review of the relevant peer reviewed and scholarly literature concerning the role of United Cerebral
Palsy in delivering high quality care pursuant to the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of
Rights Act of 2000 as overseen by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to determine
the effect of this oversight on a representative

Theme Of Disguises In King Lear
People put a large amount of effort into appearing a certain way. Many try to look wealthier than they
seem or try to act more intelligent than they are. These pictures that people hold up in front of
themselves are disguises, and in the case of King Lear, characters use these disguises to create
illusions of power, love and as a way to protect themselves. However, not only does the appearance of
a particular person deceive, but also the eyes of the person watching them. In King Lear, Shakespeare
employs the motif of eyes and sight to emphasize how appearances deceive and cannot be trusted.
In the first scene Regan and Goneril deceive King Lear with their words, flattering him in order to
obtain more land. By lying to Lear about their love and devotion to him, Regan and Goneril believe
that he will reward them. However, as the sisters later portray, they have no love for their father, but
are only driven by their greed. Because they lust after power, and Lear had the most authority before
he split his kingdom, they begin to strip away what little influence and control he had left. Edmund
was another character who deceives his father by what he says. He tricks his father, the Earl of
Gloucester, into believing that his legitimate brother, Edgar was plotting to overthrow him and take
control of all that Gloucester owned. Through his soliloquy, Edmund tells of his jealousy toward
Edgar, and he plots the downfall of his brother because he wants power, and because he wants to have
all the privileges of a legitimate heir. First questioning, Why brand they us? (1.2. 9) because he
believes that bastards are stronger, more motivated because the love that conceives them is truer, and
they contain, More composition and fierce quality. (1.2. 12).while Edgar was the result of a dull, stale,
tired bed. (1.2. 13). Unlike the sisters and Edmund, the Earl of Kent changes his appearance out of
duty to the King. He is Lear s ally, a close confidant and completely loyal to the King. When Lear
banished him, Kent returns, wishing to still serve the King, but must do so disguised as the servant,
Caius. Disguising himself strips him of his power and authority, and he assumes the role of an
impoverished man helping Lear. In

Experiment 1 : Redox Titration Using Sodium Thiosulphate
Abstract
This experiment is to determine the concentration of oxidizing solution using the iodine/ thiosulphate
titration where the reducing solution is potassium iodate solution and the oxidizing solution is sodium
thiosulphate solution. Potassium iodate solution which is an oxidizing agent is added into an excess
solution of acidified potassium iodide. This reaction will release iodine. Potassium iodide is acidified
with sulphuric acid and the iodine released quickly titrated with sodium thiosulphate until it become
light yellow. The iodine then detected with starch solution and it turn into dark blue solution and
titrated again with sodium thiosulphate until colourless. From ... Show more content on

of the burette is recorded in table 1.1. 3. 25 mL of standard potassium iodate solution prepared in part
A are pipetted into a 250 mL conical flask and a magnetic flea is added into conical flask. 4. 1 g of
potassium iodide, KI, is weighed approximately and it is placed in a 50 mL beaker. 5. 10.0 mL of
1.0M sulphuric acid solution are added and are swirled until all the KI dissolved. 6. This solution is
added to the conical flask containing the potassium iodate solution and it is immediately titrated with
the sodium thiosulphate solution, while it is stirred using a stirrer hot plate, until a ligth yellow
solution is obtained. Then, the solution is diluted with distilled water until the total volume is about
100 mL. Then, 1.0 mL of starch solution is added and the titration is continued until the blue colour
disappears and the solution become colourless. 7. The final reading of the burette is recorded in the
table 1.1 . The procedures are repeated twice as the results is more accurate.

East Germany is a mysterious environment, created by the yearning to camouflage into the greyness

Objections to Charles Peirce s Article, A Neglected...
Objections to Charles Peirce s Article, A Neglected Argument for the Reality of God
ABSTRACT: Charles S. Peirce sketches a nest of three arguments for the Reality of God in his article
A Neglected Argument for the Reality of God. I provide careful analysis and explication of Peirce s
argument, along with consideration of some objections. I argue that (1) there are significant
differences between Peirce s neglected argument and the traditional arguments for God s existence; (2)
Peirce s analysis of the neglected argument into three arguments is misleading; (3) there are two
distinct levels of argument that Peirce does not recognize; and (4) it is doubtful whether the argument
meets all the criteria set by Peirce himself. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, Peirce distinguishes between an argument and argumentation. An argument is any process of
thought reasonably tending to produce a definite belief while argumentation refers to an argument that
proceeds upon definitely formulated premisses (6.456). We must note that Peirce s Neglected
Argument (hereafter referred to as NA) is an argument, but not argumentation.
Second, we must distinguish between reality and existence. Reality is a broader term that encompasses
what exists but is not synonymous with it. (3) For something to be real it must have properties
sufficient to identify it whether anyone attributes those properties to it or not. The existent, strictly
speaking, is what interacts with things in a spatio temporal environment (6.454). Since God is not
another spatio temporal object, it amounts to fetishism, Peirce remarks, to say that God exists (6.495).
Hence his argument, strictly speaking, is not an argument for God s existence, but for God s reality.
If we compare Peirce s NA with the traditional arguments for God s existence that philosophers know
and love to criticize, we are immediately struck with a major difference. Peirce s argument is not
argumentation, but the traditional arguments (ontological, cosmological, teleological) are
argumentation. Peirce is not offering yet another bit of argumentation that concludes with a
proposition of metaphysical theology about the existence or reality of some being

The Role Of The Alamo In The Texas Revolution
The battle of the Alamo is arguably the most recognized conflict in the Texas Revolution. During the
fierce and hard fought battle, the Mexicans ultimately prevailed, but the enduring persistence of the
Americans once again ignited the flame o revolution, eventually bringing the Texans to victory later
that year. The Alamo itself was built in the early 1700s by Spanish settlers on the San Antonio River.
Over a century later, Spanish troops were stationed in the Alamo and named it after the enormous
cottonwoods that grew around the property. Throughout the year of 1821, a man named Stephen
Austin arrived in Texas along with 300 families that were allowed to live on Mexico s territory. After

Deep into the early months of 1836, the Texans remained in control of the Alamo under the leadership
of Colonel James Bowie and William B. Travis. The newly appointed commander of Texan forces,
Sam Houston, believed that Texans should abandon San Antonio due to a lack of troops and the
constant threat of the Mexican army. Even with numerous disadvantages stacked against the Texans
holding Alamo, Colonel Bowie and Travis held their ground and prepared to fight for and defend their
newly seized fort. On February 23rd a massive Mexican force comprised of an estimated 1,800 to
6,000 men and lead by General Antonio Lopez marched upon Alamo. Though heavily outnumbered,
with about 200 troops, the Texans remained in the fight for thirteen days. Unfortunately, on the
morning of March 6th a weak spot on the outer wall of the Alamo allowed Mexicans to break through
and overpower any remaining Texans. Lopez ordered to take no prisoners and all of the Texans were
either killed or spared to warn other Texans stationed in Mexico to surrender or suffer the same fate as

A description of the scenario on which the research was made
This is a place with standard facilities and with good working conditions. The students are here of
many ages. The research tries to cover a class 12 13 year s students. The research has taken care of the
issues like their life outside the school impact of newspapers and television in their life. It is also noted
how the television, magazines effect on their choices (Toloie Eshlaghy et al. 2011).
RESEARCH APPROACH
The approach has been maintained according to the scenario. The ongoing research was done without
letting the students know about it because at this age kids tend to be sensitive. They do not like any
eyes observing them critically. This was taken into mind while doing the research. Most of the
students were from good background, there was no one from deprived background. So, the research
was made taking that into mind. As family matters make marks into mind at this age thus the
information on their life outside school was also noted (Saunders et al. 2008).

Evaluation And Recommendations For New Training Programs
Evaluation and Recommendations for New Training Programs With the downturn of the economy, and
the increase of globalization, organizations continuously are restructuring its operations to handle the

employees are accomplishing those results, and what training and development approaches are needed
by employees to better accomplish those results (para. 2). This should be taken in to an account when

Personally, tuning was the hardest part of learning to play the ukulele. From experience, I have simple
tricks that any beginner can use to tune their ukulele. The first way to do it is with a pitch pipe. A pitch
pipe is a set of pipes blown to set the pitch. When I received my ukulele in the box came a pitch pipe
to help tune my ukulele. You play the note and twist the tuning peg of each string to imitate the pitch.
The second way is to use a piano and play a G, C, E, and A. Then tune your ukulele to the piano. The
easiest way that anyone can use is a tuning app. The app is the best way to tune your ukulele, it tells
you if the string is too flat or sharp and makes a sound when it s perfect. There are 4 strings on the
ukulele in the order of GCEA for those who strum with their right hand or AECG, if strumming with
left hand. If tuning the G or C strings. Twist the tuning pegs towards you to make the pitch lower and
away from you to make it higher. With the E and A, twist away to make the pitch higher and towards

new industry evidenced by antiquating the use of hand tools in conjunction with the power driven
machines popularization. As well as, the death of the personal shop and the birth of the large scale
business operation. The effect that this expansion had was felt in every city, town and small hamlet
throughout England. Prior to the spark that ignited the revolution an artisan would create his or her
craft by hand and maybe make one or two items a day. With the use of steam powered machines a
product could be produced at ten times that rate. Obviously that made the owners of the new
businesses very happy. What did happen were unprecedented growth factories and jobs seemingly to
those looking in to create an employment boom in the large cities across England. London is one of
those cities. Everything was not wonderful however, the influx of jobs created many negatives as well

Relationship Between Mpls And Ipv6
Relationship of SR with MPLS and Ipv6:
The main differences from the IPv6 source route model are:
The source route does not involve IP addresses; instead, the source route is encoded as an ordered list
of segments.
A segment can represent any instruction; either a service or a topology path. The path to an IP address
is usually the shortest path to that addess. A segment on the other hand can represent any path. (e.g. an
adjacency segment can force a packet to a next hop via a specific adjacency even if the shortest path
does not use that adjacency).
The edge routers (ingress and egress) are identified and are always available, thus permitting
accounting and policy applications.
The functionality of the source route cannot be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The concept of indexed global segment is similar to the MPLS architecture as the absolute value
allocated to any segment (can be global or local) can be managed by a local allocation process. This is
similar to some MPLS signaling protocols.
Labels in SR can be signaled by various protocols. Within a SR domain, the MPLS signaling protocols
(like LDP and RSVP)are not required. If present, SR can coexist and interwork with LDP and RSVP.
The source routing model offers the support for explicit routing capability.
In contrast to RSVP based explicit routes hat consost of non ECMP circuits which is similar to ATM
or FR, SR based explicit routes can be built as list of ECMP aware node segments and therefore
ECMP aware traffic engineering is provided an in built by SR.
When Segment Routing is instantiated over the MPLS data plane the following applies:
A list of segments is represented as a stack of labels.
The active segment is the top label.
The CONTINUE operation is implemented as an MPLS swap operation.
When the same SRGB block is used throughout the SR domain, the outgoing label value is equal to
the incoming label value. Else, the outgoing label value is [SRGB(next_hop)+index].
The NEXT operation is implemented as an MPLS pop operation.
The PUSH operation is implemented as an MPLS push of a label stack. In conclusion, there are no
changes in the operations of the data plane

Marriage Should Not Be A Sacred Thing
Marriage used to be a sacred thing; once you married someone you spend the rest of your life with
them. Even some places such as the Philippines and The Vatican City make divorce illegal. Here in
America divorces are happening every single day. This social phenomenon is considered problematic.
Almost 50% of all marriages end in divorce. When most people think of a divorce, they think of it
ending in bad terms due to infidelity; but this is not always the case. It s important to understand what
a divorce is, how it works, who it affects, the consequences, and the solution. Divorce has become
way to common; we need to reestablish the sacredness of marriage and the importance of family.
There are two types of divorces, a no fault and an at fault. No fault divorces mean that the person
filing does not have to prove fault on their spouse. States still require a reason for divorces so the most
common reasons are there are too many differences and the marriage is not repairable. An at fault
divorce is most common and this is when a spouse is filing for divorce because of infidelity, abuse,
prison confinement, and may more reasons where the other spouse is at fault and deteriorating the
marriage. There are 5 different defenses against an at fault divorce; connivance, condonation,
recrimination, provocation, and collusion. Connivance is defense to adultery, it suggests that the
partner agreed to and/or participated in the infidelity. Condonation declares that the other spouse knew

Population Growth In Australia
Current population and annual rate of increase and decline (BITRE REPORT 2015)
POPULATION
It is important to factor in the coastal settlements which are connected to the city centre as they are
homogenous and account for a fluid population of travellers and workers.
Gold Coast SA4 was 1st as the largest contributor to Queensland s population growth between June
1991 and June 2013, contributing 17.2%, followed by Sunshine Coast (10.0%) with Brisbane South at
16th Regional Population Growth, Australia, 2014 15 )which focused demand for development in the
South East Queensland area. The impact of this growing population is magnified because people are
using more resources per person. These population pressures have implications for our economy

Argumentative Essay On Donald Trump
While Liu chooses his ten main ten things to be mostly politics, I will do almost the same. The most
important person in America is always the president, so naturally, I will include Donald Trump on my
list. Secondly, along the lines of politics will be Net Neutrality. I don t have a strong opinion on it
myself, but I do believe it is essential to know the ins and outs of it due to how important the internet
is. The third topic will be pure politics. Hirsh did not include the simple word of politics, so I will add
it myself. The fourth will be Elon Musk, a tech giant. Finally is video games, which is something dear
to my heart, and also ingrained in most of society. This should be learned by any American or soon to
be American due to their importance on America s culture.
Donald Trump, America s current president. He didn t come to power easily. But that is what makes
him so important. Trump s biggest feature was that he was never politically correct, and still is not to
this day. Many people saw this as a good thing to have in a president. He wouldn t be pushed aside by
some foreign country. Trump is also different from the previous president in that he was a large
businessman, he was a billionaire. This means he s probably well versed in the political side of
businesses. However, with this, he also lacks the knowledge of being a politician. He never held an
office anywhere else. He only shares this with five other presidents. Everyone should know how
Trump came to be,

The owner of the company wants to grow the company rapidly but knows that without formal
processes and systems in place, the likelihood of losing control of projects is high. In order to support
the contractor, we would like to address the design and deployment of formal processes encompassing
two (2) of the CII practices i.e. Materials Management and Change Management.
We have stated the processes and procedures to be used by the contractor in order to gain the control
of his projects, pertaining to material management and change management. By implementing the
procedures of materials management, he will be able to improve cash flow, reduce bulk supplies,
improve supplier performance, improve craft labor productivity, reduce risk etc. and by implementing
the procedures of change management, he will notice a minimum number of changes on future
projects, enables anticipation of project changes and corrective actions that proven to be effective,
increases project safety, job quality and team inter phase relationships, reduces cost and schedule etc.

I Am An Istj Personality
According to the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), I am an ISTJ personality this means that I am
an Introvert, Sensing, Thinking, and Judging person. ISTJ are very faithful, loyal and dependable. We
are also reserved people who are interested in a secure and quiet life. ISTJ s place importance in being
honesty and can be trusted to do the right thing for their families and friends. There are some
weaknesses to being an ISTJ personality we are stubborn, insensitive, and judgmental. This test is
amazing it really nailed my personality. The MTBI is helping me understand my personality by
actually pointing out my strengths and weaknesses. It has given me a chance to understand my
strengths and build them up even more. Also, now that I understand the reason for my weaknesses, I
can attempt to work on them, and become a stronger person. The MBTI helps me to understand my
team; it helps me identify their strengths and weaknesses just like mine. It also helps me to avoid
major conflicts by understanding why they do the things they do. Also to understand what might be a
strength to me could be a weakness to them, and that everyone is different. There are four different
types of personalities in my group: ESTJ, who is efficient, outgoing, analytical, systematic, and
dependable. INFJ, who is Idealistic, organized, insightful, dependable, compassionate, and gentle.
Also, an INTJ who is Innovative, independent, strategic, logical, reserved, and insightful. Then finally,

American Spirits Were Exceptionally High At The End Of The...
American spirits were exceptionally high at the end of the War of 1812 which brought about a defeat
of the British once again. In the years that followed the War, a sense of national unity materialized
throughout the country as a One Party System grew out of James Monroe s presidency with the
disappearance of the Federalists. The Columbian Centinel proclaimed that this time period after the
War of 1812 was an Era of Good Feelings , a phrase applied to Monroe s presidency ever since. But
contradictory to this label, this time period in American history was actually turbulent, for
sectionalism propagated and a nationwide panic heightened. Therefore, with emerging sectionalism in
subsequent events that followed the War of 1812, the time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During his presidency, Monroe supported the American System in which the government supported
economic growth and protective measures for domestic manufacturers from foreign competition.
Unfortunately, not everyone favored the American System. In the South especially, Southerners
opposed such a protective tariff for it only supported Northern manufactures, while hurting the
Southern economy at the same time. The South, primarily agricultural with a large exporting
economy, had to import all of its goods having to pay up to ⅓ it s price in tax in order to comply with
the American System. John Randolph, a Southerner, expressed his grievances to Congress hoping to
alleviate the struggles of the South by saying, no one interest in the country should be sacrificed by the
management of taxation to another... the agriculturalists bear the whole front of the war and taxation
(Document A). In saying this Randolph not only questioned Congress s intentions of collecting
revenue and favoring the North, but also its job to regulate commerce, not taxes. The American
System clearly drove a wedge between Northern and Southern interests.
The institution of chartering a Second National Bank also stimulated many controversies. Once again,
the Bank, an element of the American System created to strengthen national currency, placed
commercial interests of the North over farmers and agriculturalists of the South. In the

The Puzzle Of The 15 Puzzle
We have all seen the modern form of the 15 puzzle as children. (Temporary) The puzzle was initially
constructed with 15 removable blocks and the challenge was to start with the blocks in the
arrangement where 14 and 15 are switched (as shown in the figure below). In the 1870 s the impish
puzzle maker Sam Loyd offered a thousand dollars to anyone who could solve the puzzle. He writes of
how he drove the entire world crazy. People became infatuated with the puzzle and ludicrous tales are
told of shopkeepers who neglected to open their stores and of a distinguished clergyman who stood
under a street lamp all through a wintry night trying to recall the way he had performed the feat (S.
Loyd, Mathematical Puzzles of Sam Loyd). The reason for this madness was that the puzzle had no
solution at all. (2)
It is impossible to pass between (1) and (2) by sliding the pieces. The proof of this is very interesting
and it follows from group theory. Each move of the puzzle must involve switching the empty space
and some other adjacent piece. For the sake of convenience, let s number the empty space 16. Now
every move can be written as a transposition(a 2 cycle).
For example the sequence of moves can be written as a product of transpositions (12 16)(15 16)(11
16)(12 16) where we are following the usual convention of composing functions from right to left. So,
to create (2) we must be able to represent (14 15) as a

estate, which they sold and bought a new home in the city s most fashionable neighborhoods. They
lived there for the following decade. Then in 1905, Emma abruptly moved out and became estranged
from Lizzie. It was rumored that Emma disapproved of Lizzie s relationship with actress Nance O

Liberty In The First American Society
Liberty would be defined in one s own words as, the power to act as one pleases, and being free within
the society in which one stays. The society and the mindset of the majority of the early American
colonists were based around liberty and the whole meaning behind it, and they wanted to make a
society based upon the idea of it. A River View High School teacher says, the society of this period in
time was as close to anarchy as possible (Justice 2016).This, in other words, is saying they had their
own voice in the way they chose to live and pursue their own happiness. The American colonists and
the founding fathers never let anything get in the way of their beliefs, hence the reason they were lead
into so many wars and battles. The colonists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When America was first created, the founding fathers made it under the idea that all men were created
equal. Note, they only stated men, more specifically white men. It wasn t until years after that, 1920,
when women finally got their rights, to finally vote and to finally speak their own opinions, and to not
have to hide behind whatever male figure was in their life, and instead make their own decisions for
themselves. It wasn t until years later, in 1964, when it was made possible for the African American
and other race men became equal and had the freedom to be able to live and do the same thing as
whites. So in other words, the constitution has changed for the better on that note. On the other hand,
the government has also changed for the worse, and a few different ways. Today the government
changed the laws for the protection of people. The second amendment, which has been around since
America was made because obviously the founding fathers knew it was important to protect yourself,
is possibly being changed because the Americans feel that it is harmful to have or own a gun, and that
is something that half the people of America agree with, and half don t. There are other laws that are
being changed, because the government seems to want everyone happy, but obviously that cannot
happen because not everyone thinks the same so it is

Reflection About Writing
I feel as though I have always been good at writing, if not writing itself but the writing process. My
first real writing assignment was in 8th grade when I did a research paper on comics. I had the
freedom to talk about what I wanted and could use a multitude of sources. Looking back, I do not
know how good it was but I put a lot of interest and time into the paper. My next real paper was not
until my junior year where we had to write a junior paper. This was a research paper and my topic was
Internet Censorship . I like this because it was a topic I was interested in and it was a fun paper to
write. I was basically just explain to my audience what I had learned and was teaching them in my
paper. It was like getting to write an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A writing session for me can be around thirty minutes or an hour and a half. If it becomes longer than
thirty minutes I like to take short breaks. Once I am done I put my paper through a program like
PaperGrader to analyze any grammar mistakes. I guess this would be my revising part of the writing
process. It also helps with things like word usage, checking plagiarism, and parts of a paper like
passive voice. This part, like pre writing, is not very long. I revise quickly because I feel that all the
hard work of writing is already done, I just want to make sure my paper is free of as much mistakes as
possible. After putting my paper through PaperGrader I go through and fix those mistakes and reread
my paper to see if I like the flow, the word choice, and just to make sure everything works.
I do not have many writing rules that apply while actually composing. If anything, I use my writing
rules as a guideline and apply them while I am revising. To me, a good paper is one that easily
conveys your points but can also hold attention so I like to make sure I do not write repetitively. That
said, I always put my thesis statement at the end of my introductory paragraph. I was told you do not
want to give it away in the first sentence. Another one is I try to never use the words very, stuff, and
things. I was told very is unnecessary and stuff and things is lazy and you can always be more
specific. As I also said previously I like to have a

  • 2. Essay about Hollywood s Take on the Civil War The film, Gone with the Wind became a cultural phenomenon after its release in 1939. The Civil War based film follows the storyline of Scarlett O Hara. The lead heroine is dealt with the hardships of love as well as the destruction of her town. Set in the South, the movie stresses the community s devotion to the confederacy. After its box office success, many historians believed that the film had a strong influence on America s perception of the Civil War. That influence being a backing attitude towards the Lost Cause. The term Lost Cause refers to the white southerners admirable view towards the defeated confederacy. In Gone with the Wind, this idea was expressed in several scenes. For example, one of the leading characters, Rhett ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They even dance with excitement as their master looks on. Critics argue that this is a distorted view on racial history. Since the standpoint of the film revolves around white southerners, the scene attempts to glamorize slavery. In another display of discrimination, a newly elected group of Black legislators begin session. While in debate, african americans are shown drinking whiskey, devouring chicken, and removing their shoes. The purpose of this scene was to show the inability of African Americans to govern a nation. In illustrating blacks as barbaric and ill mannered, the movie exhibits why the elite whites need to stay in power. With a focus on the Lost Cause, Birth of a Nation put a favorable stance on the South s ideologies. One of those ideologies being white superiority. When Birth of a Nation was released, the National Association of the Advancement of Colored People ( NAACP) panned the film s disregard of civil rights. As a result, the organization staged a massive protest at an opening of the film held in New York City. The NAACP urged whites to boycott the film. However, the idea of reserved seating and dressing people up as Klansman to advertise the film drew in millions. Even with daily rallies opposing the movie, Birth of a Nation grew to be the most successful picture in the silent movie era. Thus, the NAACP chose to instead pressure the director, D.W. Griffith, in cutting some of the more offensive scenes. One that included a group of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Symbolism Of The Statue Of Liberty The Statue of Liberty was created on October 28th of 1886 and currently stands in Liberty Island in New York. The statues torch is made of gold, the internal framework is composed of steel and wrought iron, and the external body is composed of copper. The outside portion is composed of copper that has naturally oxidized over time and has gained its signature green color. The Statue of Liberty is relatively large standing at over three hundred feet tall from base to the tip of the the torch. Created by the French sculptor Fredric Auguste Bartholdi, Lady Liberty was sent as a gift as a symbol of friendship and alliance established between America and France during the American Revolution (1775 1783). She attracted people from all around the nation to witness her magnificence and stunning beauty. Lady Liberty has represented American freedom and embraced diversity by being the warm welcomer of immigrants from all around the world. However, over time the country that she represents has changed and doesn t necessarily reflect the values that she proudly stands tall for anymore. The same country who s own politicians cannot come to terms in regard to the immigration policy. These are the same politicians who s ethical values seem to be in question. The statue has so many little yet powerful symbols that truly make it a unique and one of a kind piece. The torch for example is a symbol that is used to represent enlightenment, liberty, and freedom. The illumination from this torch ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Write An Essay On Deaf Culture A boy named Steven has never listened to the sound of a radio, or heard the voice of his mother and father. Since these situations are typical for a hearing person, they are taken for granted. These are everyday scenarios that will never be a part of a deaf person s life. 360 million people worldwide have disabling hearing loss (1), and 32 million of these are children. (Deafness and hearing loss Fact sheet, February 2017). Since having a hearing disability is common in society, everyone should learn how to communicate, and interact with the deaf people through their culture. So, what exactly is deaf culture? Deaf culture differs from hearing culture by having different language, social beliefs, art, education, and technology. Having a culture that caters to the deaf allows people to not focus on the incapability to hear. Instead this lets deaf individuals to be themselves without judgement. • 6. Lord Of The Flies Themes Golding´s book The Lord of the Flies has many different background meanings to it. Two themes that some critics think of are that people are born with evil already in them and that there is no hope for humanity. These themes are shown throughout the book in what the characters say and do. In this book there are many conflicts where the boys bully each other in an inhumane way, which shows how evil they really are. Also the boys lose hope for being rescued and start to go back to the more primitive ways of mankind. Golding definitely comes across in his work as some who may think that there is no hope for mankind and that all people are born with evil in them. One of the first examples of there being a theme for no hope for humanity is what Piggy first says to Ralph. Ralph and Piggy are arguing (pg. 14) and Piggy says They re all dead...Nobody don t know we re here. Your dad don t know, nobody don t know. When he says this, Piggy shows the reader that he thinks there is no hope for them to be rescued from the island. To some people, Golding may be hinting that there is no hope for people to be rescued from times of war. War seems to be ongoing, when one war ends another war begins. Until people end wars there is no hope for peace in the world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ralph learns that Jack plans on having everyone hunt for him is when he speaks with Samneric (pg. 188) They hate you Ralph...They re going to hunt you tomorrow. Critics might think that this shows there is no hope for humanity to keep moving forward. When the boys decide to hunt Ralph it shows a more primitive side of humans, in the way that instead of working something out, they decide to eliminate the problem all together. Golding makes it seem as if he thinks that humans will start to go back to their original state and that there is no hope that people will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Overview of the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and... The Importance of United Cerebral Palsy s Assistance to Developmentally Disabled Adults and the Health Care System as a Whole Introduction Children born today have a fifty fifty chance to live to be one hundred years old or more, and the quality of their lives will be affected by the research and empirical data that is being generated by organizations dedicated to helping developmentally disabled adults live more meaningful lives. These programs also serve as a benchmark in the battle against cerebral palsy in general and provide valuable best practice examples, thereby influencing the American health care system as a whole. While the search for a cure continues, cerebral palsy represents a debilitating disease that can adversely affect the ability of sufferers to provide for the basic needs of living, but with appropriate treatment and care, many are able to accomplish far more than most observers might believe in terms of their independence, productivity and integration with larger American society, goals that are also legally mandated. To determine how these positive clinical outcomes are possible, this paper provides a review of the relevant peer reviewed and scholarly literature concerning the role of United Cerebral Palsy in delivering high quality care pursuant to the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000 as overseen by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to determine the effect of this oversight on a representative ... • 9. Theme Of Disguises In King Lear People put a large amount of effort into appearing a certain way. Many try to look wealthier than they seem or try to act more intelligent than they are. These pictures that people hold up in front of themselves are disguises, and in the case of King Lear, characters use these disguises to create illusions of power, love and as a way to protect themselves. However, not only does the appearance of a particular person deceive, but also the eyes of the person watching them. In King Lear, Shakespeare employs the motif of eyes and sight to emphasize how appearances deceive and cannot be trusted. In the first scene Regan and Goneril deceive King Lear with their words, flattering him in order to obtain more land. By lying to Lear about their love and devotion to him, Regan and Goneril believe that he will reward them. However, as the sisters later portray, they have no love for their father, but are only driven by their greed. Because they lust after power, and Lear had the most authority before he split his kingdom, they begin to strip away what little influence and control he had left. Edmund was another character who deceives his father by what he says. He tricks his father, the Earl of Gloucester, into believing that his legitimate brother, Edgar was plotting to overthrow him and take control of all that Gloucester owned. Through his soliloquy, Edmund tells of his jealousy toward Edgar, and he plots the downfall of his brother because he wants power, and because he wants to have all the privileges of a legitimate heir. First questioning, Why brand they us? (1.2. 9) because he believes that bastards are stronger, more motivated because the love that conceives them is truer, and they contain, More composition and fierce quality. (1.2. 12).while Edgar was the result of a dull, stale, tired bed. (1.2. 13). Unlike the sisters and Edmund, the Earl of Kent changes his appearance out of duty to the King. He is Lear s ally, a close confidant and completely loyal to the King. When Lear banished him, Kent returns, wishing to still serve the King, but must do so disguised as the servant, Caius. Disguising himself strips him of his power and authority, and he assumes the role of an impoverished man helping Lear. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Objections to Charles Peirce s Article, A Neglected... Objections to Charles Peirce s Article, A Neglected Argument for the Reality of God ABSTRACT: Charles S. Peirce sketches a nest of three arguments for the Reality of God in his article A Neglected Argument for the Reality of God. I provide careful analysis and explication of Peirce s argument, along with consideration of some objections. I argue that (1) there are significant differences between Peirce s neglected argument and the traditional arguments for God s existence; (2) Peirce s analysis of the neglected argument into three arguments is misleading; (3) there are two distinct levels of argument that Peirce does not recognize; and (4) it is doubtful whether the argument meets all the criteria set by Peirce himself. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, Peirce distinguishes between an argument and argumentation. An argument is any process of thought reasonably tending to produce a definite belief while argumentation refers to an argument that proceeds upon definitely formulated premisses (6.456). We must note that Peirce s Neglected Argument (hereafter referred to as NA) is an argument, but not argumentation. Second, we must distinguish between reality and existence. Reality is a broader term that encompasses what exists but is not synonymous with it. (3) For something to be real it must have properties sufficient to identify it whether anyone attributes those properties to it or not. The existent, strictly speaking, is what interacts with things in a spatio temporal environment (6.454). Since God is not another spatio temporal object, it amounts to fetishism, Peirce remarks, to say that God exists (6.495). Hence his argument, strictly speaking, is not an argument for God s existence, but for God s reality. If we compare Peirce s NA with the traditional arguments for God s existence that philosophers know and love to criticize, we are immediately struck with a major difference. Peirce s argument is not argumentation, but the traditional arguments (ontological, cosmological, teleological) are argumentation. Peirce is not offering yet another bit of argumentation that concludes with a proposition of metaphysical theology about the existence or reality of some being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the fierce and hard fought battle, the Mexicans ultimately prevailed, but the enduring persistence of the Americans once again ignited the flame o revolution, eventually bringing the Texans to victory later that year. The Alamo itself was built in the early 1700s by Spanish settlers on the San Antonio River. Over a century later, Spanish troops were stationed in the Alamo and named it after the enormous cottonwoods that grew around the property. Deep into the early months of 1836, the Texans remained in control of the Alamo under the leadership of Colonel James Bowie and William B. Travis. The newly appointed commander of Texan forces, Sam Houston, believed that Texans should abandon San Antonio due to a lack of troops and the constant threat of the Mexican army. Even with numerous disadvantages stacked against the Texans holding Alamo, Colonel Bowie and Travis held their ground and prepared to fight for and defend their newly seized fort. On February 23rd a massive Mexican force comprised of an estimated 1,800 to 6,000 men and lead by General Antonio Lopez marched upon Alamo. Though heavily outnumbered, with about 200 troops, the Texans remained in the fight for thirteen days. Unfortunately, on the morning of March 6th a weak spot on the outer wall of the Alamo allowed Mexicans to break through and overpower any remaining Texans. Relationship Between Mpls And Ipv6 Relationship of SR with MPLS and Ipv6: The main differences from the IPv6 source route model are: The source route does not involve IP addresses; instead, the source route is encoded as an ordered list of segments. A segment can represent any instruction; either a service or a topology path. The path to an IP address is usually the shortest path to that addess. A segment on the other hand can represent any path. (e.g. an adjacency segment can force a packet to a next hop via a specific adjacency even if the shortest path does not use that adjacency). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The concept of indexed global segment is similar to the MPLS architecture as the absolute value allocated to any segment (can be global or local) can be managed by a local allocation process. This is similar to some MPLS signaling protocols. Labels in SR can be signaled by various protocols. Within a SR domain, the MPLS signaling protocols (like LDP and RSVP)are not required. If present, SR can coexist and interwork with LDP and RSVP. The source routing model offers the support for explicit routing capability. In contrast to RSVP based explicit routes hat consost of non ECMP circuits which is similar to ATM or FR, SR based explicit routes can be built as list of ECMP aware node segments and therefore ECMP aware traffic engineering is provided an in built by SR. The CONTINUE operation is implemented as an MPLS swap operation. When the same SRGB block is used throughout the SR domain, the outgoing label value is equal to the incoming label value. Even some places such as the Philippines and The Vatican City make divorce illegal. Here in America divorces are happening every single day. This social phenomenon is considered problematic. Almost 50% of all marriages end in divorce. When most people think of a divorce, they think of it ending in bad terms due to infidelity; but this is not always the case. It s important to understand what a divorce is, how it works, who it affects, the consequences, and the solution. Divorce has become way to common; we need to reestablish the sacredness of marriage and the importance of family. There are two types of divorces, a no fault and an at fault. No fault divorces mean that the person filing does not have to prove fault on their spouse. States still require a reason for divorces so the most common reasons are there are too many differences and the marriage is not repairable. An at fault divorce is most common and this is when a spouse is filing for divorce because of infidelity, abuse, prison confinement, and may more reasons where the other spouse is at fault and deteriorating the marriage. (Temporary) The puzzle was initially constructed with 15 removable blocks and the challenge was to start with the blocks in the arrangement where 14 and 15 are switched (as shown in the figure below). In the 1870 s the impish puzzle maker Sam Loyd offered a thousand dollars to anyone who could solve the puzzle. He writes of how he drove the entire world crazy. People became infatuated with the puzzle and ludicrous tales are told of shopkeepers who neglected to open their stores and of a distinguished clergyman who stood under a street lamp all through a wintry night trying to recall the way he had performed the feat (S. Loyd, Mathematical Puzzles of Sam Loyd). The reason for this madness was that the puzzle had no solution at all. (2) It is impossible to pass between (1) and (2) by sliding the pieces. The proof of this is very interesting and it follows from group theory. Each move of the puzzle must involve switching the empty space and some other adjacent piece.
