Industrialization Of Industrialization And...
Industrialization is a starting point for many of the technologies and factories around and exists today,
despite the negative influences of the industrialization, people gained many benefits from it too. For
example, because of the industrialization workers are more efficient producing goods and products,
also industrialization helped many people walked out of the countryside which broadens their
perspectives. For many countries, industrialization is a voluntary movement within the country, but as
an exception, China s industrialization is forced due to the barbarism action from Britain, France and
many other countries. Recalls the first Opium War, which is the event that aroused the
industrialization in China, and later the second Opium war etc.... Due to the pressure from enemies,
China has to start industrialization in order to strengthen itself and to protect the people from the
opponents. Overall, industrialization was a hard and a long term battle not only with other countries
but also within China itself. Luckily, China slowly recovered from its failure and walked out of its
shadow by the transformation through the self strengthening movement, the Xinhai revolution and
when new China was founded in 1949. Even though China is still in the process of industrialization,
but due to its transformation, China is now deemed as one of the strongest industrial countries around
the world.
During the time of the Qing dynasty, the government is afraid of Chinese people s mind

cartoons to theme parks, Disney has done it all. Everywhere you turn there is a Disney creation. He

imaginative. Walt Disney has lived a very interesting life full of adventure.
Walt Disney was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 5, 1901 (Cole 9 10). His family had a small
farm, and that is where he developed a love for animals (Cole 14). He started drawing on toilet paper,
but sometimes his brother would use his extra money to buy Walt paper (Cole 13,15). Disney dropped

CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION Recent time s retail industry is achieving high importance. The retail
industry is also facing very high competition and those who are able to retain their customers are the
ones that are able to succeed in the market place. The retail firms are spending a lot for their marketing
resources to keep existing customers rather than offering interest to new people. Satisfying customers
plays a critical role in customer retention and also is a major differentiating factor among retail stores.
Satisfying customer is now one of the major drivers of profitability. In this scenario, the firms have to

LGBT Reflection Paper
The LGBT community has become highly prominent in the media over the past several years and
while it is prominent, society has failed to properly inform the teen youth of today s society about the
LGBT community which has resulted in a series of misconceptions. While the youth of today has not
been informed the best, Haley and I both being a part of the community, we felt it would be best if we
informed the teen youth within our school of the community. And while we did attempt to educate the
teen youth within our school and it didn t work out as we originally wanted it to we re still satisfied
with the end product that came from the work we put in on this project.
While we did work on this project for several months and it came the big responsibility to attempt to
help others we did learn some things about ourselves through the process of working on this project.
Over the time of the project we learned a lot about the way we manage time, originally we had made
plans to accomplish several things like talking to people like Erin Holbert, the Gender and Sexuality
Alliance club president, and Mrs. Manlief, the clubs sponsor, along with making a video, etc. Though
over time only a couple of the things we had planned got accomplished due to our insufficient time
management for the project. When Haley and I got together most of the time to work on the project we
usually worked together and it went well when we put our head together to work on the project and we

Bus Boycott Impact
The impact of the Montgomery Bus Boycott.
Throughout American History, there have been many movements in America to bring social justice
and a change in human rights. These movements have left an impact on the way we live and think
today. The Montgomery bus boycott is a prime example of Americans standing up for their rights in
equality and justice.
The Montgomery bus boycott was a movement in Montgomery, Alabama, against the laws of
segregation on the buses with which black people were forced to sit or stand in the back of the bus
while white people sat in their seats in the front. There was also a middle section which was available
to both, but if a white person did not have a seat, a black people in that middle section was forced to ...

They had to decide whether to continue the boycott. A vote was taken and displayed that the majority
wanted it to continue. The boycott greatly affected the stores in Montgomery because fewer blacks
were coming to the city center. The MIA fought for their case to end desegregation in the court. This
movement left a huge impact on American society. The federal court deemed segregation on buses
unconstitutional. The black community began using buses again on December 21st, 1956 after 381
days, however, this did lead to some violence. Buses were shot at and churches were bombed, seven
white men were arrested, but no one was found guilty. The violence did end and the integration of the
buses was successful. This movement gave them a chance to stop segregation in other places. A
nonviolent protest can create positive change, and the black community of Montgomery proved just

Courage In Roll Of Thunder, Hear My Cry
The students at some point have to show courage, if someone is being bullied, mistreated, or just sad.
Courage is showing bravery and just doing what s right. In Mildred Taylorś book, Roll of Thunder
Hear my Cry. Stacey has to show courage, when he took the blame for T.J. cheating.. Stacey also had
to show courage by, coming up with the idea of digging the trench, and Stacey got everyone involved
with the idea of digging the trench, for the bus to fall in.
Stacey shows courage by taking the blame for T.J. s cheat sheet, and gets punished.
When Stacey takes the blame for T.J. s cheat sheet, he shows courage because T.J. was going to get
into big trouble and Stacey didn t want T.J. to get into trouble so what Stacey done was....
Stacey took the blame for T.J. s cheat sheet. In my opinion, Stacey showed a big amount of courage
when that happened. On page 60 61 in Chapter 4, it says T.J. turned back to Stacey. You ready for that
history test? Hope so, said Stacey. But I keep forgetting them dates. Betcha I could help ya, if you be
nice. How? You worse than I am bout dates. T.J. grinned, then slyly pulled a folded sheet of paper

The Importance Of Compulsory Voting
The current day politicians are worried about the number of the voters turn out for the federal
elections. With 2008 being the lowest in the past 30 years this probably causing debates about having
compulsory voting in canada to increase voter turnout. As the results show from countries that enforce
compulsory voting that it dramatically increase voter turnout. Is the increased voter turnout worth the
price of the loss of the right of liberty? Why should the government implement a law to increase voter
turn out that could easily be increased without mandatory voter turnout, and it will cause an unequal
representation of voters, and a loss of rights and freedoms.
If the canadian government want more people to vote they should view their own results why people
don t vote. According to stats canada the second main reason why people don t vote is because they
are too busy to vote. Why should the government force on the people the job of ... Show more content

the higher education turnout rate increased more than the lower education turnout rate making the
representation unequal between the lower class then the higher education. This is probably to the fact
that the lower education people tend to have lower income job and use less of the rights so when they
don t vote they don t feel the effect that much making only the upper and middle class feel the
consequence of not voting therefore they do not feel motivated to vote. The government want equal

West Nile Virus Is A Mosquito Borne Virus
West Nile virus is a mosquito borne virus. The agent of West Nile is described as being a mosquito
borne enveloped positive strand RNA virus that emerged in 1999 in North America, specifically in
New York City (Public/Publisher Medline, 2015). Since its spread to North America it has continued
to spread throughout the United States and even places such as Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.
However, its first emergence was in 1937 in Uganda (Medline Plus, 2014). According to Pub Med,
there are now more than 41,000 clinical cases of West Nile virus which also includes 1700 fatalities.
Moreover there is an estimation of 3 million people in the United States that have been infected since
last year (Pub Med, 2015). West Nile virus is spread when a mosquito bites an infected bird and also
bites a person after being infected (Medline Plus, 2014). This transmission can be found in Figure 1 of
page 6. However, there are no symptoms in most people that are infected with West Nile virus.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, most people, around 70% 80% do not
develop any symptoms at all (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2015). Despite those
statistics, that is not always the case. Some infected people experience febrile illness. For example,
about 1 in 5 people with West Nile virus will contract a fever and feel symptoms such as headaches,
body aches, joint pains, vomiting, diarrhea, or rash, etc. (CDC, 2015). Despite those symptoms,

World War I When The Treaty Of Versailles
After the conclusion of World War I when the Treaty of Versailles was signed, the seeds were planted
that led to the beginning of World War II. The immediate cause for the beginning of the second war
was popularly considered to be the German army s invasion of Poland. As the leader of the Nazi party,
one of Hitler s key goals was to be the domination of Europe, which he aimed to take by force. France
and Britain had warned Germany in 1939 that invading Poland would lead to a declaration of war, so
when Hitler invaded Poland in September 1939, war broke out in Europe. This resulted in a violent
war that lasted for several years and resulted in the loss of several soldier as well as civilian lives. The

The intention when the plan was introduced was that all countries would join the League and thus all
international disputes would be settled by negotiation as opposed to being settled by war (Breuer,
286). If this plan were to fail then the other nations would have to stop trading with the country
breaking the agreement and if that failed, the other countries would be forced to then use their armies
to fight. The diplomatic philosophy behind the League of Nations represented a shift in thought from
the preceding century, where an agreement such as this one would be unlikely to be agreed upon. The
older philosophy, coming from the Congress of Vienna, had led to the continent of Europe being a
shifting map of alliances among several nation states, creating a balance of power that was maintained
by aligned armies and secret treaties. Under this newly introduced philosophy, the League was to be a
government of governments, with the established role of settling disputes between individual nations.
Although the idea for the founding of the League came from U.S. President Wilson, the United States
never joined (Breuer, 288). This lessened the power and credibility of the League, although the
addition of an industrial and military world power would have added more, later necessary, force
behind the League s demands and requests. Also, because the League lacked an armed force of it
depended on the members to

Crisis Management Crisis management is the management of operations during the actual crisis (in
the midst of the event) and the management of the business before, during, and after the crisis. Most
crises require management from the outside in and the inside out by the management team (Nykiel,
2005). A crisis whether internal and or external can occur at any moment in a hospitality industry. For
example internal crisis in the hospitality industry include a breakout of a food borne illness in a
restaurant, infestation of rodents in a hotel and an outbreak of the flu on a cruise line (L. Pullium,

Literary Elements In The Rape Of The Lock
Analyse Rape of the Lock as a Mock Epic Poem.
In the 18th century, the theory of literature is supported by the poet practices of the classical writers of
Greece and Rome. According to the Neoclassical, human nature has been best understood, analyzed
and expressed by the classical writers. Therefore nothing created by the modern writers. Most
neoclassical writers follow the masters of the craft but take care while modifying theories. Hence
neoclassic writers fit the needs of age. The sense of society subject is an important element to address
in neoclassical theories.
In English language, Rape of the Lock is one of a poem by Alexander Pope. It has implied epic

Cooperation And Altruism Is What Largely Divides Humans...
Cooperation and altruism is what largely divides humans from other animals. While some primate and
certain other species do seem to show some precursors to these types of behaviors, none come close to
the ability of humans to help each other. Much of this has to do with our ability to act unselfishly
despite the fact that in the short term being selfish would be more beneficial. Some groups take this to
the extreme like the Hutterites who live in a society where everyone works to serve others. In his book
The Origins of Virtue Matt Ridley claims that we are all Hutterites at heart (38). However, this does
not actually seem to be true the majority of the time. In fact, more often and not, we act selfishly if we
can get away with it without any repercussions. One of the strongest bits of evidence against this
statement comes from experiments in children that show that very young children are more likely to
act selfishly instead of altruistically. Additionally, game theory studies have shown that people are
overall more selfish when they are anonymous compared to when their actions and decisions are being
watched. This would seem to indicate Hutterite s beliefs are not so central to our lives. At the same
time, these studies also show that people are not as selfish as would be expected if they were only
looking out for their benefit. And there are plenty of instances where a person goes out of their way to
help a complete stranger. Overall, I think Ridley s claim is mostly

The Impact Of Ford And The Firestone Crisis
Ford and the Firestone crisis was a long standing controversy between the car manufacturer and the
tyre company based on the failures of Ford Explorer vehicles with Firestone tyres. In the year 2001,
the controversy broke out as there were plenty of incidents happened as more than 220 people have
been killed with road accidents all over America involving Ford Explorer vehicles. There was a bit of
rivalry between Ford and General Motors and with this controversy it had damaged the reputation of
Ford which resulted in the loss of its market share and its loyalty among customers. Both the
companies were facing millions of dollars of lawsuits from various costumers. This controversy
brought an end to the 100 year old supplier relationship which began in 1896 between Ford and
Firestone (The Economist, 2017). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ford had also Installed Good year tyres into their Explorer vehicles and despite having the same

plenty of blame games going on during the controversy, as Bridgestone, the Parent company of

than the fault in their Tyres. Firestone during that time is worried about the fact that other vehicle
companies would cancel their orders with firestone because of this controversy. During the committee

of Low quality (The Economist, 2017). In the end, Firestone, had agreed to pay Ford a compensation

Economics Of Immigration
July 05, 2016
Introduction
When touching upon the topic of immigration and the United States economy, one must acknowledge
that the impact that immigrants have on the economy can be perceived as both negative and positive.
For years there has always been an ongoing debate whether the benefits outweighs the costs. One can
be led to believe that immigration increases a nations overall productivity. Therefore, leading to an
overall increase in profits. However, other factors such as the cost of migration, complementary versus
substitute labor and illegal immigration do impact the nations average labor wages, American
businesses and politics on all economic levels. It is often easier to assume that immigration, especially
when it involves undocumented ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s easy to argue that illegal immigrants are stealing the jobs that a typical native born citizen would
have. However, immigration in a sense where supply and demand can be applied benefits the
economy because it generates more production. Immigrants are more open to lower wages, therefore
reducing the cost of production and the cost of products for businesses and the average consumers. In
addition, one may argue that immigrants lower the average wage when in fact it does not affect the
skilled worker which is often referred to as the native born. Lastly, when it comes taking jobs as
opposed to providing them, it is easy to stem away from the fact that immigrants are complementary
resources as opposed to substitute ones. Immigrants can generate more jobs and prevent businesses
from going more automotive. Although politically, immigration is seen as an economic strain, it also
keeps the economy

Evaluating Csd 363 Is A Practicum Course On Children s...
CSD 363 is a practicum course that gives students the opportunity to provide schools with free speech
and hearing screenings. This class is mutually beneficial, seeing that students have an undergraduate
opportunity to start practicing skills typically developed in graduate school, and that families receive
valuable services for free. The screenings given are comprised of two parts: the Fluharty Speech and
Language test, and an audiology pure tone screening including a look in the ears with an otoscope.
Under the supervision of a licensed supervisor, students will be giving these screenings and making
recommendations about further evaluations if necessary.
The goal is screening a 3 5 year old is to identify any factors that may impact the child s
communication, developmental health, or future academic performance (ASHA). At this age,
screenings may be mandated by a school, recommended by a doctor, or simply requested from a
family. For screenings, it is common to do an otoscope exam, pure tone test, and tympanogram
reading. The otoscope is used to make sure there are no foreign bodies or cerumen blocking the ear
canal (Oxford Medical). This would create an inaccurate screening. A pure tone test will identify the
faintest tone a person can hear at select frequencies. A way to screen this age group is with a strategy
called conditioned play audiometry during a pure tone test. With this, the child is asked to perform an
activity every time a tone is heard. The

The Effects Of Global Warming On Earth s Climate
Throughout history the Earth has warmed and cooled time and time again. Climate changes due to
subtle shifts in orbit, the atmosphere or surface, changing, or the Sun energy varying. Now the force
that has the greatest influence on Earth s climate is humanity. Human activity since the Industrial
Revolution has affected the climate because the burning of fossil fuels has an impact on the
greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is a naturally occurring phenomenon, but due to human
activity there are increased levels of greenhouse gases. The increased levels, trap the sun s energy and
it warms the planet s surface above the normal temperature. It s the equilibrium of the incoming and
outgoing of the sun s energy that make Earth habitable, but now there is an offset because more is
being trapped. The offset is global warming. Global warming is the unusually rapid increase in Earth s
average surface temperature over the past century, primarily due to the greenhouse gases released by
people burning fossil fuels. The arctic places are primarily impacted by global warming and place that
arose with the most concern is Alaska. Alaska is home to wildlife and human inhabitants. The main
concern is that Alaska is melting and will continue to melt in the future. If Alaska continues to be
affected by global warming, then there will be a large impact on the state as a whole.

The Symbolic Interactionist View Of Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is a national and annual holiday where people express their gratitude and appreciation
towards family members, friends, significant others, their religion, their health, their education, or are
appreciative of what they have. Most of us are all aware that Thanksgiving is one of the happiest days
of the year because we all share a traditional meal with our family and often give thanks to our loved
ones. Typically, on this day interactions are what is primarily being focused on. Everyone is
communicating with one another about how grateful they are to have them in their lives and this
ultimately strengthens and provides reassurance to the relationship. The most important part about
Thanksgiving is that all families come together ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As symbolic interactionists believe, the emphasis of family reinforces and restores these bonds
through symbolic occasions. The symbolic interactionist perspective strongly believes that such
holidays like Thanksgiving or Christmas strengthen an individual s bond with others due to the social
interactions taking place during the family meals and holidays. From this past Thanksgiving
experience, I can thoroughly agree with the symbolic interactionists on their claim about how vital
family interactions are. Throughout the night, I observed how everyone was communicating with one
another and building better emotional bonds together. Disputes aside, everyone just enjoys the holiday
and reminisce about memories of the past holidays. I, for one, was forming closer bonds with my
cousins that have not really played a role in my life. We all happily ate and later played games
together as a family. Therefore, I cherish moments and memories like these because not only do I
become closer with my family members, although, I can look back and remember all the great and
special times we all shared together. Conclusively, interactions are extremely important to establish a
strong relationship whether it being family, friends, significant others,

Example Of Nonviolent Resistance
Nonviolence resistance has been used to achieve many goals in the past, whether it is a political goal,
a social goal, or an economic goal. According to Clausewitz, war is the continuation of politics by
other means, and the reason why nonviolence resistance can be considered a type of warfare is
because the goal is to get what they desired. A well known example of this was the Civil Right s
Movement, whose goal was to end segregation and discrimination against African Americans. This
movement encompassed three broad categories created by Gene Sharp: nonviolent protests and

were involved in this movement and that displayed these categories were the National Association for
the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the Southern Christian Leadership Conference

called a nonviolent resistance it can be confusing for others to even consider this as a type of warfare.
The NAACP, SCLC, and the SNCC all displayed nonviolent protests and persuasion. The NAACP
however was more focused on legal strategies and actions, such as going through court cases and
creating lawsuits to confront the civil rights issues that African Americans were faced with during that
time. They used legal action instead

The American Prison framework is coming up short us as a country. As exhibited by Brain Kincade

Language In Rabbit Proof Fence
Rabbit Proof Fence is a movie directed by Phillip Noyce based on the novel by Doris Pilkington
Garimara. In the excerpt, The Stealing of Children, it shows the offspring of the indigenous people
being taken away from their parents as the white settlers thought they weren t being treated properly.
Events like these occurred from 1910 1970 in Australia s history. Many aboriginal children didn t want
to be taken away and the fictional story, based on real events, of Rabbit Proof Fence has been created
from the point of view of those people living at this time. The director has created many
representations of Aboriginal people through the use of language features, visual elements and the
audio components.
The language features of The Stealing of Children give many representations of the indigenous
people. One of these devices is repetition. Once the aboriginals were trapped by Constable Riggs,
Maude repeatedly shouted the word, No! . While he took the children, she continued to state that they
were hers and she didn t like him taking them. Her repetitiveness gave the impression that she didn t
want to lose her kids and that she loved them. This also gave the impression that Maude had no
authority against Riggs. Another language element featured in the film is evocative vocabulary. It was
used among the shouts of the indigenous people and the police man. When the Grandmother came to
the car with a large stick, which she may have used to try and break the car windows,

Civilian Job Specifications And The Army
Civilian Job Specifications and the Army Leadership Attributes Civilian Organizations and the Army
as an Organization Phillip Pandy University of Texas at El Paso Abstract The Army is one of the
largest organizations in the world. The Army is global; the Army is technologically advanced and
maintains its own infrastructure. What allows the Army to be the modern day force that it is today?
The Army has values, and expects results from its soldiers. This culture has created employees that
lead the sons and daughters of our nation. Civilian Job Specifications and the Army Leadership
Attributes Job specifications simply put are knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics
(KSAOs) that a potential employee must have in order to fill his/her position at a level sufficient with
that of the employers expectations. The Army when viewed as an organization requires its employees;
employees being its Soldiers, to uphold a certain level of ethical behavior as well as project a
professional image. This ethical behavior is combined with a number of attributes that reflect an
individual s performance and upward mobility. These Attributes are grouped into six categories;
Character, Presence, Intellect, Leading, Developing and Achieving. The traits that are placed into
these categories range from one s ability to have confidence all the way down to how prompt one may
be when obtaining results. The professional image eluded to earlier is measured

Analysis Of Edith Wharton s Confession
In some ways, we can use literature to view a glimpse of the past. Not only does literature often times
reflect historical events, writing can also paint a picture of the culture and social norms during a
specific time period. The Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Buffalo,
Milton C. Albrecht, stated in his article that, Like other arts, literature has in the past been assumed to
reflect cultural norms and values, the ethos and the stresses of a society, the process of dialect
materialism, and the historical development of a society or culture (Albrecht 177). In the case of Edith
Wharton s short story, Confession , there was both an influence from historical events and societal
norms. Throughout the short story, there were three obvious influences from the time period. The story
is loosely based on a historically famous murder trial that captivated the nation for years. Despite
Wharton s use of historical context throughout the story, she managed to transfer the reader to the time
period the story was written through her reflection of societal gender roles and financial stability
during the early 1900s.
Confession used a historical phenomenon to form a background for the life of the main character, Mrs.
Ingram, who was a fictional representation of the historical figure known as Lizzie Borden. In the
summer of 1892, Lizzie Borden was suspected of killing her father and step mother in their
Massachusetts home. After a long and heated trial,

Much Ado About Nothing by Shakespeare is a comedy because it is dramatic, unexpected, and it is not
relatable.
Many comedies are very dramatic. Much Ado About Nothing contains two very dramatic events. One
dramatic moment happens during Act IV, Scene i. In this scene, Claudio and Hero are in their wedding
ceremony. At the beginning, Claudio says he will not marry a disloyal woman. This leads to the people
in the play, including Claudio, Don Pedro, and Don John shaming Hero. Even her own father,
Leonato, shames her. Most people would not do this, they would likely censor themselves, at least

3d Printing And Its Effects
Introduction
3D printing has been quoted by the Financial Times and from other sources as, Possibly being bigger
than the internet (Jun 21, 2012). The earliest 3D printing technologies first became visible in the late
1980 s. There are multiple different types of 3D printing technologies, which process different
materials in unique ways to create the desired object. Since the emergence of 3D printing,
developments and improvements to the process and the materials has greatly expanded the various
applications. 3D printing was invented as a means of speeding up the early stages of product
development, using simple material, and multiple applications.

3D Printing Technologies There are multiple different types of 3D printing technologies, which
process different materials in unique ways to create the desired object. Before you read on let us first
learn some basics about 3D printing, which will be explained later in greater detail. The starting point
for any 3D printing process is a 3D digital model, which can be created using a variety of 3D software
programs. The only limitations to 3D printing is the amount of material you have. The most common
and recognized material would be plastics, Ex. PLA and ABS. When using plastics, the process is as
follows: extruding the material in filament form through a heated extruder to form layers and create
the predetermined shape. Because parts can be printed directly, it is possible to produce very detailed
and intricate objects. As well as technology, there are multiple processes for 3D printing. The very
first being Stereolithography (SL). SL is a very accurate laser based process that works with
photopolymer resins (see picture one). Next is Digital Light Processing (DLP), which is similar to SL
in the aspect of photopolymers. The only major difference/advantage between the two is that DLP

i) Background and formation of the issue
According to the UN World Health Organization definition of aging over 65 years as elderly , when
the population of a region or country, the ratio of the elderly more than 7%, referred to as aging

ii) Give evidence to illustrate the influence of the global issue
 The world s population is ageing rapidly. Between 2000 and 2050, the proportion of the world s
older adults is estimated to double from about 11% to 22%. In absolute terms, this is an expected
increase from 605 million to 2 billion people over the age of 60.
iii) 2 Reasons to explain the choice of the global issue
 If the advanced countries the existing retirement protection system is not adjusted, it will pose a

Reflection Paper On Self Check
Every day I perform a self check on myself. I change my routines up, and I always keep a close watch
on my surroundings. I used to leave doors open when I would go directly in and out of my home, but
there is too much crime that takes place to trust people. Any place that used to be a hot spot have been
turned into open view areas. The impractical thing I could ever do is let someone let me be victimized
again, especially when I know not to leave doors unlocked. The one person who has never left me, and
that is God. We have an open door policy.
At one time in my life, I took everything for granted because I never had any altercations with anyone
until one morning I decided I would do some spring cleaning before I went to class. Due to my
negligence, I did not lock the door to my house nor to my shop. When I returned back to my work

could not run anymore, I can tell others how to be careful. However, I m particular with whom I talk.
Since I moved back to Mississippi, I am careful in every aspect of my life. I knew what I had to do in
order to reduce the risk of being attacked, and especially protect my grandchildren. Every day I

The Canada s Food Guide Essay
The Canada s Food Guide has been in place since 1942, and nearly a decade has passed since the
release of the current Eating Well with Canada s Food Guide (EWCFG) (Mortillaro, 2016). Critics
believe that the time has come for the revision of the second most downloaded document in Canada in
the interest of reflecting the changing lifestyles of Canadians (Mortillaro, 2016). At the time of its
launch during World War II, male female roles differed vastly, with stay at home moms preparing
home cooked meals. However, according to latest information provided by Statistics Canada, 69% of
households with families are dual earners today (Statistics Canada, 2015). The effect of dual earning
has taken its toll on Canadian food consumption patterns (Mortillaro, 2016). Consequently, the
existing food guide has received mixed reviews and immense criticism by several researchers, and has
even been declared obesogenic (Corby, 2007; Kondro, 2006; L Abbe Mahsa, 2015). This is
particularly disturbing because according to the 2004 Canadian Community Health Survey, 59% of
the adult population is overweight and 1 in 4 is obese; the numbers are even more alarming regarding
children and adolescents (Karmali et al., 2010). The cause of the obesity epidemic might be right at
our fingertips with the Unhealthy Food Guide that is imposed on Canadians. One strict change that
must occur to the food guide includes disassociating 100% fruit juices as vegetable and fruit sources,

A Butcher s Tale And Alain Corbin s Village Of Cannibals
Helmut Walser Smith s A Butcher s Tale and Alain Corbin s Village of Cannibals, present case studies
of historical accounts which demonstrate the power of masses and of crowd violence in the small
Prussian town of Konitz and the isolated French village of Hautefaye. Small towns are generally
attributed to communal characteristics where citizens help and protect one another; however, the
events that unraveled in these two cases generated a shock factor to the neighboring towns as it
exemplified the power of rumor and the overall naivety of the inhabitants of the two towns. These case
studies are also reflections of how the most civilized of societies are able to resort to barbaric actions
through mere hearsay and allow their prejudices to shape their perception. This paper will examine the
dynamics of the crowd, the explanation for the unfolding events and the ways in which both authors
reach their conclusions of the unraveling of these events. The particular unfolding of events in both
case studies of the historical accounts of violence which occurs in these two small towns is explained
through the notion of rumor as a news source. Smith s A Butcher s Tale investigates the anti Semitic

Overpopulation And Its Effects On Our Environment Essay
While there are plenty of babies being born every single day, do you ever wonder how the world will
continue to sustain the growing population? The population of the world is continuing to grow at a
dangerously, increasing rate. There are already at least 6.5 billion people on earth. According to,
Overpopulation is main threat to planet , the population is said to reach 9 billion by 2050. The
overpopulation of humans is causing destructive impacts on our environment and a high demand for
resources. One destructive impact would be climate change because of the exceeding rate of humans
causing pollution in the air. While the earth is having a tough time sustaining particular resources, the
high demand causes the earth to force to get its nonrenewable resources. Overpopulation can lead to
increased impacts of over packaging, depletion of resources, habitat loss, and etc. Overpopulation is a
controversial topic to me because while there are those who aren t paying attention to its effects the
world is displaying its resources can soon be gone. Addressing the problems and concerns of
overpopulation now, can help save our lives in the future, LITERALLY!
In order to slow down the rate of overpopulation we must first access the causes. Many technological
advancements in medical facilities and treatments helped cause a decline in the death rate. Although,
saving lives is a great job, this increase in individuals have also contributed to overpopulation. Before

Satire Essay
Satire is a great tool used by many writers and actors since ancient times. The earliest example that we
know about is a script from 2nd millennium BC in Ancient Egypt (Definition: Satire) and since then
has evolved into a great part of our society. Satire is used to point out the faults of human vice in order
for change and reform in either of two ways. There is a very bitter Juvenalian or a mild and light
Horatian. In order to fully understand these forms of satire, method, purpose, and applications will be
addressed.
The best ways to present satire is either through incongruity, parody, reversals, or exaggeration. When

For this reason, satire offends very few people, but still inspires that important change. Whatever form
satire takes is how this will be accomplished. If it is Juvenalian, it is done with indignation and
harshness. This tone is somewhat dark and makes inspires change though a form of resentment. This is
usually more successful than the other because anger causes action. The other form is Horatian, and is
the amused and witty form of satire. It is presented as mockery, but never to insult or offend anyone.
This is just to show the faults of something and make people realize why they are wrong. Both
encourage change, and both are important.
Arguably, one of the most successful Juvenalian satires ever written is A Modest Proposal by Jonathan
Swift. Swift satirizes many things in the essay, with the most prevalent being the way that England
treats Ireland. Many of the inhabitants living there were poverty stricken and starving to death. Swift
then presents his plan to sell the children for food and that way they could earn a little bit of cash. He

Under this modernization the cities adapted to new technologies, such as transportation and road

This would greatly reduce any information overload that would hinder decision making. In the span of
not having enough information, some decision makers will wait on making a decision, but this could

routines which might not be relevant in the situation. The technology in this situation needs to be able
to take the amount of information gathered and then start the allocation of resources to the area so that
information does start coming in, they can immediately start implementing the response plans. There
is a need for both discipline, which would include structure, doctrine, and processes, and agility which
could be defined by creativity, improvisation, adaptability in responding to a disaster.[Walker] There is
also the need to onboard and build an effective leadership team quickly to coordinate and manage
efforts as they grow beyond first responders. The leader and team must formulate and implement a
disciplined, iterative set of response plans, allowing initial coordinated responses that are vaguely

Understandably, the opposition parties are active in exercising the parliamentary right to scrutinize
government actions.
One striking difference when comparing the Bundestag with the British Parliament is the lack of time
spent on serving constituents in Germany. This is in part due to Germany s electoral system. A
practical constraint on the expansion of constituent service is the limited personal staff of Bundestag
deputies. Despite these constraints especially those deputies that are elected directly normally try to
keep close contact with their constituents and to help them with their problems, particularly when they
are related to federal policies or agencies.
Constituent service does also take place in the form of the Petition Committee. In 2004, the Petition
Committee received over 18,000 complaints from citizens and was able to negotiate a mutually

tension, and training in a dizzying ensemble. They are what the herds of raucous and anxious
spectators come to watch, and what newscasters and television channels come to capture for millions
to see. However, they are but a fraction of the bigger picture. In preparation of an average game, we
would practice on average five times for a few hours each. And that was just at a more amateur level.
At the professional level of soccer, players practice multiple times a day, nearly every day. It is where
skills pertinent to winning are gained and how the necessary physique needed to perform physically is

players as well as between players and coaches. Mutual respect and trust are forged, which are just as
crucial to have as kinetic training or equipment. Soccer is a team sport, one in which you will not get
far without working as such. Teammates, much like warriors and soldiers, must have absolute trust
and confidence in their peers. They must be wise and selfless, knowing when to pass the ball or make

Narcotizing The Masses Essay
In order to understand the relationship between narcotizing the masses and the possibility of
progressive change in the US, one has to take a look at the reason behind the phenomenon of
controlling the masses. To understand narcotizing the masses, one has to look at it from a critical point
of view. One way to look at this phenomenon is by using critical theory to dissect narcotizing the
masses. According to Ashley Crossman, Critical theory is a social theory oriented toward critiquing
and changing society as a whole, in contrast to traditional theory oriented only to understanding or
explaining it (Crossman, 2017). Critical theories objective is to get to the root of social life and expose
the norms that prevents us from a complete understanding of how the world operates (Crossman,
2017). The theory was developed by sociologist at The Frankfort School in Germany, and it emerged

A very important way of controlling the masses now happens to be consumption. The need to buy
things that are unnecessary plagues the majority of our society. In my opinion, the reason behind why
we consume so much is due to the fact that we are never satisfied because the media has a way of
making us feel like we could always have more material things. Another way that controls the masses
is social media. In an age where everyone is always plugged in and people are reliant on technology
social media plays a huge part in controlling the masses of people. Social media also has a lot to do
with current trends and that is another way of controlling the masses. The relation between narcotizing
the masses and the possibility of progressive change in the US is that these two things are quite
different. The possibility of progressive change in the US depends on social awareness and educating
people. Narcotizing the masses is so successful, because most people are unaware and uneducated
about how things

The Importance Of Colors In Gilead
Imagery, particularly when describing beautiful colors before Gilead and contrasting them with the
dull colors described in Gilead reveal how drastically life has changed. Offred mentions that in the
past when she took her daughter to get ice cream, everything was colored so delicately, pale orange,
pale green, pale pink and that her daughter, dressed in similar ice cream pastels would choose her treat
by the color (Atwood 165). In life before Gilead, colors were vivid and cheerful, something to make
objects more enjoyable to look at. People could wear whatever color they please, and colors had no
additional meaning to them other than to show people had freedom to make their own decisions.
However, in Gilead, color imagery shows the lack of decision and the rigid societal structure the
government imposes. Each group has their own colors even in minor aspects of life, such as with
umbrellas categorized as black, for the Commander, blue, for the Commander s Wife, and the one
assigned to [Offred], which is red (Atwood 9). Each color labels members of the society as part of a
certain category and defines their roles without further consideration. Here, colors serve as a way to
restrict peoples freedoms unlike when colors previously served as way to enhance freedom of choice
and expression. In Gilead, The women... are color coded to strip them of their individual identities and
to mark their social status and relationships to men restricting everyone s freedom, even the

An Examination Of Recent Quantitative Metrics Provides...
Over the last half century, the United Methodist Church has declined in membership and attendance.
Numerous church literature attests to the aforementioned research. To further the current literature, an
examination of recent quantitative metrics provides further insight into reversing church growth trends
towards healthy and vital congregations. To help the Annual Conference (AC), The General Council
on Finance and Administration (GCFA) constructed a statistical analysis model at the annual
conference level. The model provides insight into the three main areas within the annual conference
based on three conceptual lenses. While it does not cover everything, the model s lenses provide
meaningful information on three key metrics including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paramount to the data is the utilization of worship attendance as the foundation or principal variable.
The component incorporates all United Methodist Churches that have reported at least one average
weekly attendee. All other variables are tied and counted based on the weekly attendance metric.
While the attendance variable is imperfect, it directly ties to other measurements of church vitality.
The examination below includes three main lenses to analyze the data. Observational Lenses First, the
use of weekly attendance allows other variables to be split into church size categories. It is useful to
find information beyond the annual conference level because small and large churches have different
needs. Hence, a large number of factors listed in the report are broken down into the church s average
attendance ranges. By drilling into the data, we can see differences and similarities among larger and
smaller churches. The church size breakdown is based on three main factors. First, the average weekly
attendance percentages split this lens at roughly the ten percent range of weekly attendance. Second,
the groupings were placed into sensible breakdowns. In other words, while the groups was broken
down into their 10% attendance percentages further consideration was given to relative size and feel
of each grouping. Third, certain groupings were isolated because of their historical differences among

The Argument In The World Of Sports Psychology
Introduction
To become an elite athlete, you must train like one. Elite athletes win, and to win an athlete must be
motivated, concentrated, and focused, as well as mentally health. The sports market in North America

writer for Forbes website. To be part of this billion dollar industry it is not just how you physically
talented you are but mentally as well. Psychology is becoming more prominent in the world of sports
because, we are being to understand more that the mental aspect of the game is just as, if not more
important than the physical side of it. Sometimes the difference between first and second isn t

Griffith studied psychology at the University of Illinois. While at the university he then established the
first laboratory in the United States, where he studied and worked closely with the football team there.
At this time Griffith made two of his publications The Psychology of Coaching and The Psychology
of Athletics. In his career Coleman Griffith also help the Chicago Cubs who thought that having him

his books. Which gave life to sports psychology. Griffith realized that being a coach you have to be
like an athlete, physiologist and psychologist (Miller.) In his later publication about athletics Griffith
made the connections and helped to increase the psychological components of the athletes skills,

Why The North Lost The Civil War Case Study
19.Describe and explain why the North won and the South lost the Civil War. In your answer, be sure
to consider both the civilian and military aspects of the war. In the first place, it was characteristically
weaker in the different basics to win a military triumph than the North. The North had a populace of
more than twenty two million individuals toward the South s nine and a half million, of whom three
and a half million were slaves. While the slaves could be utilized to bolster the war exertion through
work on the estates and in businesses and as teamsters and pioneers with the armed force, they were
not utilized as a battle arm as a part of the war to any degree. According to these reactions, it appears
to be obvious that the South could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The arrangement embraced by Congress had a few sections: California was conceded as a free state,
irritating the harmony that had since quite a while ago won in the Senate; the limit of Texas was
settled along its present lines; Texas, as a byproduct of surrendering area it asserted in the Southwest,
had $10 million of its difficult obligation accepted by the government; regions surrendered by Texas
turned into the perceived regions of New Mexico and Utah, and in neither one of the cases was
subjection said, apparently leaving these domains to choose the servitude address all alone by the
standard of famous power; the slave exchange, however not bondage itself, was abrogated in the
District of Columbia; lastly, Congress passed another and more grounded Fugitive Slave Act, taking
the matter of returning runaway slaves out of the control of states and making it an elected duty. The
trade off, in any case, contained the seeds of future disagreement. The point of reference of famous
power prompted to an interest for a comparative arrangement for the Kansas Territory in 1854,
bringing about severity and savagery there (see Bleeding Kansas). Moreover, the utilization of the new
Fugitive Slave Act activated such a solid response all through the North that many direct abolitionist
components got to be distinctly decided adversaries of any further expansion

The Democracy Of The United States Government
Randy Rivas
Political Science 1
O Regan
Fall 2015
Voter Turnout In a democracy citizens are permitted to have a significant amount of influence on
government through the election of government officials. This is known as Direct Democracy, which
means that the citizens play a significant role on the laws and policies of the land. Although the liberty
of voting is available, why is the voter turnout so low? Many other countries have a much larger vote
turnout than the United States. The reason for this varies; some major points would be the
Demographics, voting laws, and political favoritism/corruption that affect the voter turnout. When the
people vote for a public figure they expect them to succumb to the will of the people, and not big ...

Those who campaign have a hard time reaching out to the young community. Most college students do
not own a television set, therefore are not well aware of current political affairs. In part many young
Americans feel that their vote does not matter, or that whatever they must vote for doesn t interest or
affect them in any way. Older age groups that vote tend to be more educated on politics, because they
tend to be much better educated. Ones views on politics can vary depending on the type of
environment you grew up in. The agents of socialization in one s life play a big role on determining
how one feels towards politics. Parental views on politics influence their children s future views on
politics greatly. Ethnicity and socio economic status have a huge impact on the voter turnout. Political
knowledge and perception is no different than the area you live in or the quality of food you eat, it s all
based on wealth and social status. Those who make enough money to barely survive tend to have little
to no knowledge on politics. These groups tend to be minority groups. The vast majority of groups
that tend to vote are strictly but not definitively well educated white families. Although this is not
always the case, certain ethnic groups and minority groups vote when they have interest in what they
are voting for. For example, in the 2012 election with Obama, for the first time ever the overall black
voter turnout exceeded that of the white voter turnout, the idea of

The intention when the plan was introduced was that all countries would join the League and thus all international disputes would be settled by negotiation as opposed to being settled by war (Breuer, 286). If this plan were to fail then the other nations would have to stop trading with the country breaking the agreement and if that failed, the other countries would be forced to then use their armies to fight. The diplomatic philosophy behind the League of Nations represented a shift in thought from the preceding century, where an agreement such as this one would be unlikely to be agreed upon. The older philosophy, coming from the Congress of Vienna, had led to the continent of Europe being a shifting map of alliances among several nation states, creating a balance of power that was maintained by aligned armies and secret treaties. Under this newly introduced philosophy, the League was to be a government of governments, with the established role of settling disputes between individual nations. Although the idea for the founding of the League came from U.S. President Wilson, the United States never joined (Breuer, 288). This lessened the power and credibility of the League, although the addition of an industrial and military world power would have added more, later necessary, force behind the League s demands and requests. • 13. Cooperation And Altruism Is What Largely Divides Humans... Cooperation and altruism is what largely divides humans from other animals. While some primate and certain other species do seem to show some precursors to these types of behaviors, none come close to the ability of humans to help each other. Much of this has to do with our ability to act unselfishly despite the fact that in the short term being selfish would be more beneficial. Some groups take this to the extreme like the Hutterites who live in a society where everyone works to serve others. In his book The Origins of Virtue Matt Ridley claims that we are all Hutterites at heart (38). However, this does not actually seem to be true the majority of the time. In fact, more often and not, we act selfishly if we can get away with it without any repercussions. One of the strongest bits of evidence against this statement comes from experiments in children that show that very young children are more likely to act selfishly instead of altruistically. Additionally, game theory studies have shown that people are overall more selfish when they are anonymous compared to when their actions and decisions are being watched. This would seem to indicate Hutterite s beliefs are not so central to our lives. At the same time, these studies also show that people are not as selfish as would be expected if they were only looking out for their benefit. And there are plenty of instances where a person goes out of their way to help a complete stranger. Overall, I think Ridley s claim is mostly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In addition, one may argue that immigrants lower the average wage when in fact it does not affect the skilled worker which is often referred to as the native born. Climate changes due to subtle shifts in orbit, the atmosphere or surface, changing, or the Sun energy varying. Now the force that has the greatest influence on Earth s climate is humanity. Human activity since the Industrial Revolution has affected the climate because the burning of fossil fuels has an impact on the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is a naturally occurring phenomenon, but due to human activity there are increased levels of greenhouse gases. The increased levels, trap the sun s energy and it warms the planet s surface above the normal temperature. It s the equilibrium of the incoming and outgoing of the sun s energy that make Earth habitable, but now there is an offset because more is being trapped. The offset is global warming. Global warming is the unusually rapid increase in Earth s average surface temperature over the past century, primarily due to the greenhouse gases released by people burning fossil fuels. The arctic places are primarily impacted by global warming and place that arose with the most concern is Alaska. Alaska is home to wildlife and human inhabitants. The main concern is that Alaska is melting and will continue to melt in the future. If Alaska continues to be affected by global warming, then there will be a large impact on the state as a whole. The symbolic interactionist perspective strongly believes that such holidays like Thanksgiving or Christmas strengthen an individual s bond with others due to the social interactions taking place during the family meals and holidays. From this past Thanksgiving experience, I can thoroughly agree with the symbolic interactionists on their claim about how vital family interactions are. Throughout the night, I observed how everyone was communicating with one another and building better emotional bonds together. Disputes aside, everyone just enjoys the holiday and reminisce about memories of the past holidays. I, for one, was forming closer bonds with my cousins that have not really played a role in my life. We all happily ate and later played games together as a family. Therefore, I cherish moments and memories like these because not only do I become closer with my family members, although, I can look back and remember all the great and special times we all shared together. According to Clausewitz, war is the continuation of politics by other means, and the reason why nonviolence resistance can be considered a type of warfare is because the goal is to get what they desired. A well known example of this was the Civil Right s Movement, whose goal was to end segregation and discrimination against African Americans. This movement encompassed three broad categories created by Gene Sharp: nonviolent protests and persuasion, noncooperation (economic and political), and nonviolent intervention. A few groups that were involved in this movement and that displayed these categories were the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), and the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). Despite being nonviolent called nonviolent, though, there are some occasions where violence is present. However, because it is called a nonviolent resistance it can be confusing for others to even consider this as a type of warfare. The NAACP, SCLC, and the SNCC all displayed nonviolent protests and persuasion. The NAACP however was more focused on legal strategies and actions, such as going through court cases and creating lawsuits to confront the civil rights issues that African Americans were faced with during that time. • 23. Language In Rabbit Proof Fence Rabbit Proof Fence is a movie directed by Phillip Noyce based on the novel by Doris Pilkington Garimara. In the excerpt, The Stealing of Children, it shows the offspring of the indigenous people being taken away from their parents as the white settlers thought they weren t being treated properly. Events like these occurred from 1910 1970 in Australia s history. Many aboriginal children didn t want to be taken away and the fictional story, based on real events, of Rabbit Proof Fence has been created from the point of view of those people living at this time. The director has created many representations of Aboriginal people through the use of language features, visual elements and the audio components. The language features of The Stealing of Children give many representations of the indigenous people. One of these devices is repetition. Once the aboriginals were trapped by Constable Riggs, Maude repeatedly shouted the word, No! . While he took the children, she continued to state that they were hers and she didn t like him taking them. Her repetitiveness gave the impression that she didn t want to lose her kids and that she loved them. This also gave the impression that Maude had no authority against Riggs. Another language element featured in the film is evocative vocabulary. It was used among the shouts of the indigenous people and the police man. • 25. Analysis Of Edith Wharton s Confession In some ways, we can use literature to view a glimpse of the past. Not only does literature often times reflect historical events, writing can also paint a picture of the culture and social norms during a specific time period. The Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Buffalo, Milton C. Albrecht, stated in his article that, Like other arts, literature has in the past been assumed to reflect cultural norms and values, the ethos and the stresses of a society, the process of dialect materialism, and the historical development of a society or culture (Albrecht 177). In the case of Edith Wharton s short story, Confession , there was both an influence from historical events and societal norms. Throughout the short story, there were three obvious influences from the time period. The story is loosely based on a historically famous murder trial that captivated the nation for years. Despite Wharton s use of historical context throughout the story, she managed to transfer the reader to the time period the story was written through her reflection of societal gender roles and financial stability during the early 1900s. Confession used a historical phenomenon to form a background for the life of the main character, Mrs. Ingram, who was a fictional representation of the historical figure known as Lizzie Borden. At the time of its launch during World War II, male female roles differed vastly, with stay at home moms preparing home cooked meals. However, according to latest information provided by Statistics Canada, 69% of households with families are dual earners today (Statistics Canada, 2015). The effect of dual earning has taken its toll on Canadian food consumption patterns (Mortillaro, 2016). Norbert Lammert is the current President of the Bundestag. With the new constitution of 1949, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Understandably, the opposition parties are active in exercising the parliamentary right to scrutinize government actions. One striking difference when comparing the Bundestag with the British Parliament is the lack of time spent on serving constituents in Germany. This is in part due to Germany s electoral system. A practical constraint on the expansion of constituent service is the limited personal staff of Bundestag deputies. Despite these constraints especially those deputies that are elected directly normally try to keep close contact with their constituents and to help them with their problems, particularly when they are related to federal policies or agencies. Constituent service does also take place in the form of the Petition Committee. In 2004, the Petition Committee received over 18,000 complaints from citizens and was able to negotiate a mutually satisfactory solution to more than half of them. In 2005, as a pilot of the potential of internet petitions, a version of e Petitioner was produced for the Bundestag. This was a collaborative project involving The Scottish Parliament, International Teledemocracy Centre and the Bundestag Online Services Department . The system was formally launched on 1 September 2005, and in 2008 the Bundestag moved to a new system based on its evaluation.[1] ELECTION : Members serve four year terms; elections are ... • 41. Essay on The Embodiment of Suspense in Soccer I cannot exactly place my reasoning, yet it still captivates me nonetheless. Soccer, or football, as most of the world knows it, stands out at least to me from virtually all sports. My opinion may be biased after a decade of playing, but there is a good reason I stuck with it for so long. While playing, I found myself to become so impassioned with not just the obvious, drawn out goals of the game, but also with the paralyzing suspense present in no other sport quite as it is in soccer. I find it to be equally as exciting play as it is to behold. Seeing how one minute movement can completely change the outcome of the game is a marvel even to witness, let alone play. You almost cannot afford to look away, as every match is both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, during my warm ups and exercise, my nervousness began to clear. The familiarity of the whole process worked to calm and comfort me. A renewed sense of confidence washed over me, only just in time for the kick off. Matches are the focal point of the sport, the release of built up willpower, tension, and training in a dizzying ensemble. They are what the herds of raucous and anxious spectators come to watch, and what newscasters and television channels come to capture for millions to see. However, they are but a fraction of the bigger picture. In preparation of an average game, we would practice on average five times for a few hours each. And that was just at a more amateur level. At the professional level of soccer, players practice multiple times a day, nearly every day. It is where skills pertinent to winning are gained and how the necessary physique needed to perform physically is maintained. Albeit, this is not the only important aspect of practicing. Bonds are formed among players as well as between players and coaches. Mutual respect and trust are forged, which are just as crucial to have as kinetic training or equipment. Soccer is a team sport, one in which you will not get far without working as such. Teammates, much like warriors and soldiers, must have absolute trust and confidence in their peers. They must be wise and selfless, knowing when to pass the ball or make the shot themselves, or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Narcotizing The Masses Essay In order to understand the relationship between narcotizing the masses and the possibility of progressive change in the US, one has to take a look at the reason behind the phenomenon of controlling the masses. To understand narcotizing the masses, one has to look at it from a critical point of view. One way to look at this phenomenon is by using critical theory to dissect narcotizing the masses. According to Ashley Crossman, Critical theory is a social theory oriented toward critiquing and changing society as a whole, in contrast to traditional theory oriented only to understanding or explaining it (Crossman, 2017). Critical theories objective is to get to the root of social life and expose the norms that prevents us from a complete understanding of how the world operates (Crossman, 2017). The theory was developed by sociologist at The Frankfort School in Germany, and it emerged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A very important way of controlling the masses now happens to be consumption. The need to buy things that are unnecessary plagues the majority of our society. In my opinion, the reason behind why we consume so much is due to the fact that we are never satisfied because the media has a way of making us feel like we could always have more material things. Another way that controls the masses is social media. In an age where everyone is always plugged in and people are reliant on technology social media plays a huge part in controlling the masses of people. Social media also has a lot to do with current trends and that is another way of controlling the masses. The relation between narcotizing the masses and the possibility of progressive change in the US is that these two things are quite different. The possibility of progressive change in the US depends on social awareness and educating people. Narcotizing the masses is so successful, because most people are unaware and uneducated about how things ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Importance Of Colors In Gilead Imagery, particularly when describing beautiful colors before Gilead and contrasting them with the dull colors described in Gilead reveal how drastically life has changed. Offred mentions that in the past when she took her daughter to get ice cream, everything was colored so delicately, pale orange, pale green, pale pink and that her daughter, dressed in similar ice cream pastels would choose her treat by the color (Atwood 165). In life before Gilead, colors were vivid and cheerful, something to make objects more enjoyable to look at. People could wear whatever color they please, and colors had no additional meaning to them other than to show people had freedom to make their own decisions. However, in Gilead, color imagery shows the lack of decision and the rigid societal structure the government imposes. Each group has their own colors even in minor aspects of life, such as with umbrellas categorized as black, for the Commander, blue, for the Commander s Wife, and the one assigned to [Offred], which is red (Atwood 9). Each color labels members of the society as part of a certain category and defines their roles without further consideration. Here, colors serve as a way to restrict peoples freedoms unlike when colors previously served as way to enhance freedom of choice and expression. In Gilead, The women... are color coded to strip them of their individual identities and to mark their social status and relationships to men restricting everyone s freedom, even the ... Paramount to the data is the utilization of worship attendance as the foundation or principal variable. The component incorporates all United Methodist Churches that have reported at least one average weekly attendee. All other variables are tied and counted based on the weekly attendance metric. While the attendance variable is imperfect, it directly ties to other measurements of church vitality. The examination below includes three main lenses to analyze the data. Observational Lenses First, the use of weekly attendance allows other variables to be split into church size categories. It is useful to find information beyond the annual conference level because small and large churches have different needs. Hence, a large number of factors listed in the report are broken down into the church s average attendance ranges. By drilling into the data, we can see differences and similarities among larger and smaller churches. The church size breakdown is based on three main factors. First, the average weekly attendance percentages split this lens at roughly the ten percent range of weekly attendance. Second, the groupings were placed into sensible breakdowns. In other words, while the groups was broken down into their 10% attendance percentages further consideration was given to relative size and feel of each grouping. Third, certain groupings were isolated because of their historical differences among ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
