1. Tok Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "Tok Essay" can be quite challenging for several reasons. Firstly,
the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) essay is a unique assignment that requires a deep
understanding of epistemology and the nature of knowledge. It goes beyond merely presenting
facts; it demands critical thinking and reflection on the ways knowledge is acquired, interpreted,
and applied.
One of the difficulties lies in navigating the interdisciplinary nature of TOK. The essay should
draw on multiple areas of knowledge and explore the interconnectedness between them. This
requires a comprehensive understanding of subjects ranging from the sciences to the humanities,
adding an extra layer of complexity to the writing process.
Furthermore, the TOK essay prompts often present abstract and philosophical concepts, making
it challenging to articulate ideas in a clear and concise manner. Expressing complex thoughts and
arguments while adhering to the stringent word count can be a daunting task for many students.
Additionally, the TOK essay requires students to engage with real-life situations and examples,
linking theoretical concepts to practical applications. This demands research skills and the ability
to connect theoretical knowledge to the world outside the classroom.
In summary, the difficulty of writing a TOK essay lies in its demand for a synthesis of
knowledge, critical thinking, and effective communication. It's not merely a regurgitation of
information but a thoughtful exploration of the nature and limitations of knowledge itself.
If you find yourself struggling with such essays or need assistance with academic writing, it's
worth noting that various services, including HelpWriting.net, offer support in crafting well-
researched and thoughtful essays on a variety of topics. These services can provide guidance and
resources to help you tackle complex assignments effectively.

2. How Did The Constitution Unite Australia
Since the time of the first fleet until now, Australian law has been divided between
two types of Australians, the settlers and the indigenous. Since the time of the first
fleet, the settlers put into place English law to rule the land known as Australia and
make laws on the rights of the people, the indigenous and the land. Since then,
Australian law has come a long way in the development of a fairer constitution and
enacting laws for the indigenous to close the gap between them and the settlers.
There has been many landmark rulings in the fight for equality for the indigenous
community, including the case of Mabo and the case of Wik, all of which will be
discussed further on. The Australian Constitution was expected to unite Australia
under the first and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Australian Constitution likewise explicitly victimised Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander people groups. The Australian Constitution did not and still does not
make satisfactory procurement for Australia s first peoples. In the fight for
recognition, the Indigenous Australians have managed to win landmark cases, as
mentioned above, to place themselves in the constitution and close the gap.
In the case of Mabo v Queensland 1992, it was a case on whether the Meriam people
had customary and traditional rights in the land the Murray Islands, and whether or
not the Australian law protected those rights.
It was held by the High Court of Australia that the Meriam people were entitled to the
possession, use and occupation and enjoyment of the land of the Murray Islands.
Through this landmark case, the recognition of the Indigenous people was finally
acknowledged, removing the original doctrine that Australia was terra nullius at the
time of the first
3. We Need a New Method of Purifying Drinking Water Essay
Chlorine has been purifying our drinking water for the last century. Chlorine has
many uses; it is used as an amazing water disinfectant to rid water of harmful
organisms, it sanitizes many surfaces, and it is used in the production of many
products. Virtually all water borne diseases have been wiped out as a result of
purification of drinking water usually with chlorine. Life expectancyhas increased
fifty percent in the last century because people are able to drink clean, healthy water.
Two hundred million people in America and Canada drink, shower and swim in
chlorinated water everyday, and ninety eight percent of drinking water treatment
facilities use chlorination (Christman, 1998). Chlorine has benefited society in an...

Finally, those who take the economic approach believe that chlorine might have
some effect, yet the expenditure of money and time to develop alternatives for all of
chlorine s uses make it hard to eliminate it from our society.
Studies have shown that it is not the chlorine that causes damage to our health, but
rather chlorine s byproducts. Dioxins, which are an unwanted byproduct of industrial
production that uses chlorine, are the most harmful human carcinogens studied
(Thornton, 1997). When chlorine is added to our water supply, it immediately kills
many to all of the organisms living in the water. However, it also reacts with any
organic material in the water such as leaves, twigs, or dirt chemically producing
byproducts called trihalomethanes, or THMs. THMs consist of four chemicals:
chloroform, bromoform, bromodichloromethane and dibromochloromethane.
Dibromochloromethane is already classified as a possible known human carcinogen
and has been proven to cause cancer in laboratory animals (Times Union, 1996).
The US Council of Environmental Quality states that, [t]he cancer risk among people
drinking chlorinated water is 93% higher than among those whose water does not
contain chlorine (Showering in Tap Water, 2001). Organizations such as Greenpeace
and the Sierra Club, as well as many doctors and scientists, are publicly
4. Rainbows End Analysis
It is through the confronting and provocative challenges that trigger individuals to
reassess their past and present beliefs and attitudes leading to meaningful and
transformative discoveries. Jane Harrison s play Rainbow s end , explores Gladys
and Nan Dear s transformative discoveries after they face racial segregations in the
western community. This ultimately evokes them to reassess their negative and
positive present attitudes towards the white Australians. Similarly, Sean penns film
into the wild, exhibits Christopher s discovery of humanity and basic human
interaction to be truly free and happy after experiencing hardships whilst surviving in
the wilderness.
The challenging process of discovery vital for individuals to experience meaningful
discovery and ultimately transform their present beliefs and perspectives. In
Rainbow s end, Gladys yearns to belong in the western community to have a
successful future for her family especially her daughter Dolly. However, gladys
transforms her desire after facing prejudice by the white Australians at the Queen s
visit in 1954. Harrison promotes Gladys aspirations of a big dream of desiring to
assimilate in the western society through the dream sequence where Gladys presents
a bouquet of flowers to the Queen. However, the audience realises the unachieved
wish when in reality, Gladys is Holding a bunch of weeds . The provocative
confrontation if further highlighted after she discovers the government s truth after
her visit
5. The Three Causes Of The Russian Revolution
The Russian Revolution started in 1905 through 1917. It happened because there
were a series of revolution that started in 1905, including the bloody sunday. This
name was because priest disagreed that workers had no rights to he went to Czar s
house and just started shooting everywhere. Russian revolution had five or six causes
we have three really important causes. We had the weakness of Russia, the World War
one, the mistakes of Tsar s, Army abandoned the Tsar, Duma abandoned Tsars, but
the most important of the five reasons of the Russian Revolution was that the
People of Russia didn t want an absolute monarchy. Russia for a long time had
absolute monarchism until Nicholas the second that was the last Czars of Russia,
and wasn t kings and queens the had the Czars and the Czars had absolute power in
Russia. What do you think it s going to happen? I will give you a clue it was a really
bloody war.
Bloody Sunday was one of the reason of the Russian Revolution to happen. So the
bloody Sunday was when demonstrators without guns or any object like that were
attacked by soldiers of the Imperial Guards when they were marching to the Winter
Palace. Another reason was the Duma. At the October Manifesto that was a response

6. How The Mind And Nervous System
Jonathan Lewis
Dr. Steven Scott
Capstone
29 April 2015
How the Mind Modulates the Autonomic nervous system Mind modulation of the
autonomic nervous system (Autonomic nervous system) is essential to how we live
our daily lives. The reaction between our brain, brain stem, and different glands and
nerves in our body is imperative to how we react to things or even go through daily
routines. As usual with humans, we are not perfect and have issues such as
psychosomatic problems which lead to unwanted responses to stimuli or stress
(Rossi). The process in which the mind modulates the cells which produce these
effects is broken down into three stages: mind generated thoughts and processes; the
filtration of these impulses via state dependent ... Show more content on

These participants were highly skilled in cycling with 10 11 years of training, each of
these participants completed an intensive cycling exercise test which followed the
stimulation of the brain. The perceived exertion regulate exercise performance
(RPE), heart rate (HR), and R R intervals were recorded during the tests as well as
peak power output (PPO) (Okano). The results from the experiment showed promise
as with anodal tDCS, their PPO improved by approximately 4%, parasympathetic
vagal withdrawal was delayed, their HR was reduced (but not maximized), and their
RPE increased at a slower rate (but not maximized) compared to no stimulation
(Okano). This experiment, conducted in 2013, shows a very promising connection
between the brain and the autonomic nervous system via mind modulation of the
cells, leaving us more prepared to search for other means of altering or enhancing
this process for more optimal performance. As stated before the mind modulates the
autonomic nervous system via an enormous process which starts through signals
sent from the brain. One of these senders is the vagus nerve. When your body is
hurt, your vagus nerve sends a signal which acts as a counter inflammatory role
(Karimi). In Karimi s experiment, which took place in 2011, they used vitro
stimulation in order to showed that following subdiaphragmatic vagotomy of mice,

The Chauvet Cave holds the earliest human paintings known in history. Because of
its importance, the access to the cave is restricted, except for a few archeologists
and paleontologists. However, Herzog s crew got the opportunity to gain access to
the cave and film. In general, caves are very sensitive, fragile, and narrow places. If
the caves haven t been retouched by man s work, they are very uncomfortable and
almost impossible to walk inside. However, it is necessary tot remain untouched or
barely untouched so they keep their essence and important aspects such as the
paintings. From the beginning of the film, you can notice the low quality of the film;
it is very grainy and shaky. However, in the first minutes of the film the narrator

School Counselor
Every student needs help in some way whether entering high school, needing
information, choosing a career, or talk about personal problems. As a high schoolor,
students realize what roles counselors play in school careers and futures. School
counselors are there every step of the way. A schoolcounselor plays multiple roles in
a students life. Before anything, the counselor and student must get to know each
other, so the student is comfortable.(Job Profiles, 2011) When a student enters
freshman year in high school, there is one counselor that will be there throughout the
four years of high school. Students are worried about the new people, new classes,

all states for any school counselor to have a state certification. And in some states it
is required to have a master s degree. Also, it could be required to take a 1 year
teacher education program that is offered as most 4 year colleges. Any training or
counseling programs are very helpful also. (Job Profiles, 2011) On a weekday
basis, counselors work for around 7 to 8 hours a day looking to see how their
students are doing throughout the day and how their grades are. They have the
same hours and days as teachers do. They work throughout the school day from the
beginning of the school year to the end. But they also prepare for the next school
year in the summer. Counselors often work on their own, but sometimes they may
talk to other counselors about things, and they may talk to students on their own,
or in little groups. Counselors have their own offices. ( KidsHealth, 1995) The
salaries that the counselors earn depend on their level of seniority or level of
education. On average they would make around $32,000 to $86,000 a year. Starting
off their career as a counselor they make $18.53 an hour, but once they become more
experienced they make $36.53 an hour. They may also receive benefits by
contributing to health insurance for a student. (School Counselor: Job Profile Salary,

The field I have chosen as my career is vocal music performance. I chose it because
music is what I am and what I love, and I feel that I can help the world in ways
others can t through music. My experiences in music have taught me valuable life
lessons and morals. I feel that my experiences in my high schoolchoir, my church
and at Governor s School for the Arts have helped make me the person I am today
and I can t wait to pursue music and give back to my community. To begin with, the
first time I realized music was what I was going to do as my profession was in my
high school choir. For me that is where it all started, my parents had recently went
through a very traumatizing divorce and I wasn t exactly a social butterfly. Those
days I just kept my head low and mad sure I had straight A s. However, that changed
after I joined choir. I believe singingwas one of the first things someone told me I was

perspective versus just singing in a choir it taught me how to be a leader. But the
one thing that I love the most about it is when I m leading music and the song

something with a friend or a complete stranger and for just a moment we truly

10. Essay To Be A Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
Deciding to be a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer was not an easy or fast decision.
Like everything else in life, my decision was gradual and time consuming.
However, being involved in the medical field was always something that I longed
to do. Most other kids want to be a firefighter, police man, or President of the
United States. For me I always knew that my heart belonged in the hospital. It all
started in the 4th grade. That s when I knew that being in the medical field is what
I ve always wanted to do. This day, my 4th grade teacher gave us an assignment
while learning science. We were specifically learning about the heart and it s 4
chambers. This subject, I remember, was so captivating and fascinating for me. I
soaked in all the information I got from this class extremely easily. It was unlike
any of the other classes that I have taken thus far. Math, literature and history were
not subjects that I thought were very interesting for me but science was something
that I especially excelled in. As the years went by I learned that I was especially
had an interest in forensics. The ability to see the open body one on one in the
fashion that forensics get to have contact with a body was more than interesting
for me. So at the age of 12, I decided that forensics was what I was gonna put my
mind to. The first thing I did was let my mother know that I finally have an idea of
where I was going with my life. Unfortunately, she completely disliked the idea of me
11. Exposure to Violence and Videogames
Intro paragraph:
Many teenagers who are around my age have been born into and raised in a
generation where violence is idolized in video games and in the media. Although
parents monitor and guide their children, [the] media is everywhere. TV, Internet,
computer and video games all vie for our children s attention] and often times are
the sole free time activity (American Academy of Pediatrics). As media monopolizes
the adolescent generation, society has begun to look at the effects it may have
especially material that promotes violence. Although much of this violence is
fictional, it still been found that violence in the media has many negative effects on
developing children and even grown adults ( CITATION NEEDED). Based on the
research conducted on the effects of violence in the media, society and especially
children should not be exposed to violence in video games and the media. This
opinion is congruent with the Catholic Church.
1st Paragraph:
Both, the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Palo Alto Medical
Foundation have delved into the issue on whether young children and adolescents
should be exposed to violence in video games and the media, gaining much research
through the use of multiple case studies. The results of these case studies were very
similar, being consistently negative for both organizations. A Pew Research Center
survey, in 2008, found that half of all teens reported playing a video game yesterday,
and those who played every day

Optimizing Website Success Be Mobile Friendly
In the past year web traffic from smart phones has increased by 84%. This shift has
created a need for companies to be able to communicate with their clients effectively
via a new technology and has afforded some issues tiny screens for instance.
There aren t any wrong ways to deal with this new challenge, but there are some
methods that have been shown to be more effective than others. Before modifying
your website or building a companion website it s important to determine what the
clients will wish to accomplish on your mobile site. They will either be looking to
save time or locate information.
The best thing you can do for your website if you don t wish to create a mobile
version is simplify the content of your site. By eliminating unnecessary
information, links and large slow loading graphics, mobile viewers can locate
information more easily without having to zoom, refresh or wait a long time for
your site to load. Try to keep contact information on each page most mobiles will
allow users to click on a telephone number and store it right from the website
remember that users will be navigating with fingers so it is very important that the
font be large enough. This has huge advantages when your goal is to obtain new
clients.
Once you have recreated your website to be more consumer friendly as a whole, it s
time to think about other ways that mobile users could find you without actually
visiting your site. Utilising

Clinical Context
Patient, JD, is a 50 year old Caucasian male with a past medical history of
polysubstance abuse who presented to outside hospital with shortness of breath and
chest pain who developed cardiogenic shock complicated by shock liver and renal
failure and was transferred to Henry Ford Hospital for elevation of care. The patient
was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) upon arrival. While in the ICU, patient
developed a fever with leukocytosis and patchy infiltrate on CXR and was treated for
HCAP. Blood cultures were drawn at that time that grew yeast, possibly related to a
line infection. Lines were removed and patient was started on fluconazole. Fungal
cultures drawn grew Candida krusei and Fluconazole was switched to anidulafungin.
Infectious Disease was consulted suggesting total duration of anti fungals of 2 weeks
for candidemia. Repeat blood cultures drawn after treatment were negative and
patient s clinical status improved on anidulafungin treatment. This patient had spent a
total of 21 days in the ICU. C. krusei is known to have intrinsic resistance to
fluconazole5, which is why treatment was switched to anidulafungin, a semisynthetic
echinocandin. However, invasive candidiasis and candidemia with other strains of
Candida species are prevalent in severely ill patients and the proper treatment of such
infections should be investigated.
Clinical Question
Is anidulafungin superior to fluconazole for treatment of candidemia and invasive

14. Richard Ligon in Barbados
Richard Ligon was from England and moved to Barbados in 1647. There, he lived
amongst slaves, servants, and planters for approximately ten years. He witnessed
many forms of slavery and paid close attention to how the different slave groups were
being treated, in comparison to one another. In his article, he compares the living
conditions of the slaves to the servants. Ligon also discusses what their motives and
methods of resistance to their masters authority are. In his work, it is also evident that
cultural adaptations were made between the European and African inhabitants of
Barbados. He demonstrates this by going into detail about how the slaves expressed
their African culture through their music, religion, and recreation.... Show more

Finally, they lacked the communication factor of their plans due to the fact that many
of the slaves spoke different languages and couldn t understand one another. This is a
severe disadvantage because they weren t able to design a plan that every member
could understand; thus, creating a chaotic atmosphere. Neither the slaves nor the
servants could follow through with their plans to overtake their masters.
While in Barbados, Ligon writes about cultural adaptations which are evident
between the European and African inhabitants. Ligon knew a slave named Macow
, he entered Ligon s house only to find Ligon playing a musical instrument (called
the Theorbo ) and singing a song to it. Macow waited, watched, and listened
attentively to these noises the Theorbo created. What caught Macow s interest was
the fact that the Theorbo made different pitches in sounds. All Macow knew was
the drum, and how it was only capable of making a single tone. Ligon stumbled
across Macow a couple days after this had happened. He noticed that Macow had a
large piece of timber in which he was trying to duplicate the sound of the Theorbo.
What Ligon points out in this story is the fact that some of the African slaves (or
servants) actually have the potential to learn the Arts. Macow adapted to Ligon s
cultural practices and tried to duplicate them with this act.
The slaves expressed their African culture
15. An Example Of Western Culture In The Baroque Period In
Italy
A perfect example of western art that depicts the drama and theatre during the
periodization of 17th century Italian Baroque, is the piece titled Susanna and the
Elders by Artemisia Gentileschi. In this painting, there is a woman taking a bath,
however, behind her are two men who appear to be causing trouble. The biblical
story has it that while Susanna was bathing, two judges cornered her offered her a
bargain. The malicious men said that either she was to sleep with them, or they would
tell the people that she had been seen with another man as a threat. Rather than being
stoned, Susanna was preserved and the two men were punished for their actions. The
Baroqueperiod in Italy had many key historical events and heavily influenced the
visual culture. Italian culture during the Baroque period was significant because it
had many key kinds of art, monuments and other visuals that represented this time
period. During the 17th century, the Baroque consisted of a strong annunciation
surrounding drama, theatre, and reformation. Figures were often displayed as if
they were at a performance. Each painting was detailed and depicted a dramatic
scene that told an elaborate story. It was common for a woman to be portrayed
naked and freely as this was something that occurred often. This era also included
an abundance of lights and darks that were juxtaposed to evoke feelings from the
audience. Non western art was equally as exceptional as each countries art had a
significant way of incorporating their culture into each piece. Li K an s 14th century
ink on paper painting titled Bamboo displays the beauty within a single form of art,
ink. Although simplistic, the ink has been manipulated into fine lines that show the
foliage of the leaves on the background. This intricate calligraphy work enhances the
piece and allows the artwork to reflect peace and delicacy. Unlike work from the 17th
century Italian Baroque, the Chinese culture does not depict naked women but rather
aims towards the ideals of nature.
In China, the artwork was important as it enhanced the key events that were occurring
during this time period in Chinese culture. As control was being taken from the Ming
emperors due to the government growing corrupt,
16. A Brief Biography of Nathaniel Hawthorne
Nathaniel Hawthorne once said, I do not want to be a doctor and live by men s
diseases, nor minister to live by their sins, nor a lawyer and live by men s quarrels.
So, I don t see that there is anything left for me but to be an author (Nathaniel). This
statement describes Hawthorne s personality and life in a way that no other quote
could. Nathaniel Hawthornewas an Anti Transcendentalist writer meaning that he had
a negative view of all humans. The Anti Transcendentalist movement was a
pessimistic branch of Romanticism and it began in mid 1800s and lasted until late
1800s. Nathaniel Hawthorne was influenced greatly by his childhood, which is what
caused him to be an anti transcendentalist, yet in his novel The Scarlet Letterthere was
a bridge created between anti transcendentalism and utopian transcendentalism.
The devastation of losing a parent at a young age can cause long term effects that
last into adulthood. When Hawthorne was four, his father died of yellow fever and
this caused problems for him. His mother became very overly protective and
pushed him toward isolated pursuits (Biography). His childhood left him shy and
bookish, which molded his life as a writer. He also was not a very social person,
had few close friends, and had little engagement with others (Biography). If
Hawthorne s life had not started the way it did, he would have never been the
person he was as an adult, and society would have never been able to see the writing
he could create. Nathaniel

ne example of an ethical and legal issue pertains to duty to warn. In the beginning of

precautions. It is the counselor s responsibility to protect that intended victim who
was mentioned by the client (Henderson, 2016). As a counselor it is his/her right to

18. What Is Propaganda In Ww1
Propaganda was a predominant and effective weapon of warfare during WW1 (1914
1918) and to a very large extent; it influenced the involvement of civilians in several
movements of the war. There were several elements, both stylistic and technical,
incorporated within the propaganda, which created conceptions of nationalism and
anti national sentiment and involved different demographics such as North
Americans and women. All these factors contributed to the enormity of war and
increased the extent of people who participated in the war, whether it was in the
trenches at front lines or in their towns at the home front.
Nationalism was one of the driving factors of the war and the main objective the

Images of women were often exploited in wartime propaganda, as they were
romanticized and significant female figures. An example is England s image of
Britannia, a Romanesque warrior, who encouraged men to fight for their country
and protect their women and children (Welch D, Propaganda for Patriotism and
Nationalism, 2014). This information substantiates with Jo Fox in her article,
Women in World War One Propaganda (2014), as she says Women served as the
embodiment of the nation: MГЁre Patrie, Marianne, the spirit of Australia ,
Mother Russia, Liberty , and Britannia all took the female form, appearing as both
demure and combative. German and French propaganda on postcards
romanticized war and women, depicting soldiers thinking of their loved ones while
at war and helped them envisage heroic returns (McCallum, 1996, pg.141). Women
were used as a tool of propaganda in WW1, their involvement due to propaganda
issued was a preponderant factor since women had partial support of the war. More
than 175 000 women were involved in the industrial activity of the war because of
campaigns such as the Register of Women for War Service as claimed by
McAndrew M, Thomas D and Cummins P (1997, pg.224 225), authors of The Great
War; 1914 1918; Problems, Issues, Sources, Skills. Moreover,

chain their bones were ripped off in a few second, and their bodies were divided in
many parts. Their screaming could touch the sky, but it couldn t touch the hearts
of thousands workers and visitors. Millions of hog were killed every day brought
the huge profit to the industry. Following the profit of the companies was the dirty
and unhealthy meat. For instance, There would be meat stored in great piles in
rooms ... hand over these piles of meat and sweep off handfuls of the dried dung of
rats. The rats were everywhere, and the workers might feel familiar to it, and they
didn t pay much attention about what sickness the rats would bring. The company

Jurgis was a worker in the company, he received no health care for his job. The

20. Deontological Vs. Utilitarian Ethics
Deontological vs. Utilitarian Ethics There are two major ethical theories,
deontological and utilitarian. Both theories are based on moral rules. These
theories attempt to justify the principles and moral rules. In every culture
something is defined as either right or wrong, not just wrong or right as a whole.
Every society must define what is right or wrong and no universal truths will exist
across cultures, this is defined as moral relativism. What is right and what is wrong
may be different to some people and it is influenced by where they live and the rules

Thus, the ends or consequences of an action never justify the means or motive of
the action. So, if someone were to act morally right the end result of their action
would not matter, whether it be positive or negative. Furthermore, Kant believes
there is only one good thing in the world, good will. A good will is an intention of a
rational being which acts in accordance with universal moral laws that the human
automatically and freely give themselves. The good will is the only true good there
is and goodness only comes when we act a certain way. Thus, people must
contemplate their actions before they pursue them. Kant believed in a principle of
morality called, The Categorical Imperative, which determines whether a moral duty
is good or bad. In the Kantian ethics it is stated that, a right act has a maxim that is
universalizable (Pence 11). Kant uses the word maxim which is a rule or principle
you act on. So, this means our maxims should be something everyone is able to do,
not making any exceptions for yourself. For example, keeping promises; if you
want others to keep their promises you should be obligated to keep yours also.
Additionally, Kant argues that people are free only when they act rationally. It is said
that people act based on their emotions but Kant theory argues otherwise.
Deontological theory states that we do not act morally because it is what we re
accustomed to but rather when we understand the rules and

Plot, Conflict, and Characterization of Trail of the Green Blazer The author of
green Blazer is R.K Narayan. The story rotates around two primary characters, that
are pickpockets who work in the market searching prey, and a man in a green jacket.
A short story as a rule incorporates one essential character and another auxiliary
character. Narayan has portrayed about an existence and work of an expert

Through deliberately perusing and examining the story Trail of the green blazer we

22. History Of Hosni Mubarak s Regime
Introduction
Hosni Mubarak s regime in Egypt had been the only government the Egyptian people
had seen in decades. Following movements such as The Kifaya (Enough) Movement,
and The April 6 Youth Movement, as well as the demonstrations in Tahrar square,
Mubarak resigned and regime change was not far behind. After his resignation and a
promising push towards democratization with the first democratically elected head of
state, Mohamed Morsi, Abdel Fattah el Sisi took office, proving that Egypt is not
working towards a democratic state, but rather pushing for an oppressive authoritarian
regime that takes after Mubarak, Sadat and Nasser s militarized Egypt. The
deterioration of human rights and the state of the economy prove that regime change
in Egypt has not pushed for democratization.
Mubarak s Regime
Hosni Mubarak s presidency began in 1981 and ended in 2011 with general
discontent among the Egyptian people. During his presidency, Mubarak implemented
economic plans that contributed to Egypt s preexisting economic crisis. Mubarak s
predecessor, Anwar Sadat implemented Infitah, an economic plan that involved
attracting foreign capital and technology, financial institutions, and freeing up the
labor markets. While this economic plan came with good intentions, it did not fare
well, as it caused lopsided growth of the economy. The gap between exports and
imports had to be financed by extra borrowing. Thus, Egypt s economy suffered, and
the country was forced into debt. To
23. The Gap Between The Rich And Poor Essay
I was born and brought up in Nairobi, Kenya. Demographically, my family was
typically part of Kenya s urban poor. As a young boy, I was constantly confronted
by the realities and debilitating impact of poverty. At the age of twelve, I was
transferred from a Nairobi based primary school to a boarding primary school in rural
Kenyawhere I eventually excelled and emerged the best in the district during national
examinations, earning me admission to one of the best high schools in the country.
While in high school, I not only developed my leadership skills as a school prefect
and a deputy school captain but also discovered new talent as I went on to become a
national champion in national operatic music competitions. Talent and education
opened up my eyes to a world of possibilities and opportunities beyond my
imagination.
Nonetheless, the reality of the gap between the rich and poor remained stark in
darker shades of black and lighter shades of white. To me, the root and the problem
of poverty was no longer shrouded in a gray shroud of mystery. It dawned on me
that education a necessary condition to the emancipation of the poor from the
shackles of hopeless travail. It was through education that, for the first time, options
were laid out in front of me. I could choose a different future for myself and my
future offspring. I could fathom a flat world, one that presented equal opportunity to
all, regardless of tribe, gender or social background. I could choose to be part of the

Whole Years
The thought of leaving a known environment to walking into something
completely new and different is overwhelming. Middle school was my home away
from home for three whole years. Like many other incoming freshman students, I
believe that a big fear is getting separated from the friends you grew up with. Yet, I
understand that you meet new people and create more memories together which
calms me down a bit. Another big fear/concern is being able to get to one class to
another quickly in order to arrive on time. I signed up for ROTC which I have
always wanted to do, and I know that you have to put on your uniform once a week,
but I also have P.E first period so I m worried that there will be conflict. Luckily, I
only have gym first semester, then health so it d be easier. An expectation I have
for freshman year is to obviously get more work and for it to be harder. At first I
was scared that I would not be able to keep up however, I believe my eighth grade
teachers really tried preparing us for it and now I m more at ease. I know I am
very dedicated and hard working towards my education so I just have to keep it
up. Not that my teachers can fix all my fears, I hope they will be willing to spend
extra time with me explaining something if I don t understand. That would help me
tremendously. Another thing they can do to alleviate the fright I have is if I felt not
judged or embarrassed if I were to raise my hand to ask a question, because that is
something I struggle with. If
25. Involuntary Unemployment And Its Effects On The
Economy
Contrary to what some economists believe, involuntary unemployment is a very real
and continuous presence in the economy, both past and present. In the United States,
the unemployment rate measures the number of people actively looking for a job as
a percentage of the labour force. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS),
the current unemployment rate is at 5.4 percent, down from the high unemployment
levels of a lingering 10 percent during the most recent recession less than six years
ago. This rate fails to include other failures in reaching full employment, such as the
number of persons employed part time for economic reasons (sometimes referred to
as involuntary part time workers) ... These individuals, who would have preferred full
time employment, were working part time because their hours had been cut back or
because they were unable to find a full time job (Taborda, BLS). Involuntary
unemployment is a common occurrence in capitalismthat happens when, rather than
simply not choosing to work at the set wage, a person is willing to work at the
prevailing wage and yet remains unemployed. What many economists have sought
and continue to seek to find out is the cause of high unemployment levels, whether
that be what motivates humans to act in the economy or the nature of the system of
capitalism.
Some modern economists praise our current economic system of capitalism and
suggest that it is not the cause of prolonged recessions while others condemn its

Benefits of Moderate Drinking Drinking alcohol can be good for your health and
studies have shown that boozing on occasion has some perks which includes
reduced stress, decresed risk of heart attacks, and lower chances of diabetes. Social
drinking is used by many people globally. Kloner et al.(2007) from the School of
Public Health at Harvard University found that moderate amounts of alcoholraises
levels of high density lipoprotein, and higher HDL levels are associated with greater
protection against heart disease. Moderate alcohol consumption has also been linked
with beneficial changes ranging from better sensitivity to insulin to improvements in
factors that influence blood clotting. Such changes would tend to prevent the
formation of small blood clots that can block arteries in the heart, neck, and brain, the
ultimate cause of many heart attacks and the most common kind of stroke. This
finding is applicable to both men and women. HDL cholesterolis the well behaved
good cholesterol . It removes harmful bad cholesterol from where it doesn t belong.
Drinking in moderate amounts can lead to certain psychological benefits, as
research show. Low levels of alcohol can reduce stress, anxiety and help reduce
tension. Studies show that low levels of comsupmtion get more sleep on average
than those who sleeps in excess. In addition, consumption can also cause the
comsumer to feel more relaxed. These psychological effects of moderate drinking are

has been argued that uniform financial reporting standards will result in lowered

Respiratory Infection during the Hajj
Generally infectious diseases is one of the most demanding challenges facing the
health sector today and respiratory infection take a great concern of it. Mass
gathering in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, either it was for Hajj or Umrah, is
considered one of the potential sources of developing dissemination infectious
diseases on large scale. Many factors contribute to the spread of these infections,
including crowding, the health of the attendees, and the type and location of meetings
(Al Tawfiq, Gautret, Benkouiten, Memish, 2016).
The annual Hajj has been associated with a wide variety of viral and bacterial upper
and lower respiratory tract infections such as MERS CoV, SARS and influenza.
Pneumonia is a common cause of hospitalization and the estimated occurrence of
respiratory tract infections among pilgrims ranges from 20% to 80% (Memish,
Almasri, Turkestani, Al Shangiti, Yezli, 2014). As a result, this concern have to be
managed in precise approach to prevent the spread of the respiratory pathogen not
only for the pilgrimage family but for the surrounded and the whole country as will.
Despite the fact that KSA have established a policies regrade preforming the hajj by

Was Charlie better off before or after the operation?
Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes is about Charlie Gordon, a mentally disabled
37 year old that is offered a one in a lifetime chance of being intelligent by having an
operation. Although the operation works and he becomes very intelligent, he slowly
loses his intelligence later on. Although Charlie has lost his I.Q which is his
intelligence, he has still kept his E.Q which is his emotional intelligence. Charlie also
has the involvement of going through all of that which transforms him as a person
and he does not let anyone take advantage of him anymore. This shows that Charlie is
still better off after the operation than before.
To begin, Charlie is still better off after the surgery because he now has E.Q, or
emotional intelligence unlike he did before he got the operation. Before the
operation, Charlie did not understand the emotions of people. For instance, the entry
on April 15 (Keyes 291) tells us that when Charlie and Ms. Kinnian were talking,
Ms. Kinnian got something in her eye and had to go into the ladies room, but we
knew that she was actually crying, an example of dramatic irony. This displays that
before the operation, Charlie does not know the emotional standpoint of people, but
after the operation Charlie does. To demonstrate, after Charlie had the operation but
lost his intelligence, Charlie went into Ms. Kinnians class acting like he used to
before the operation. Then, he said, She startid to cry

However, I did choose Erickson s theory simply because his method extends

within each stage determines the extremity. With each stage marked by
inconsistencies, a successful resolution will result in a positive end result. The fifth
stage of Erickson s theory is Adolescence; 12 18 years of age. The conflict is
identity versus confusion, and this was rather difficult for Diana; she experienced
long periods of loneliness and depression. Everything changed for her during this

ANTITRUST
Antitrust law in the United States is a collection of federal and state government laws
regulating the conduct and organization of business corporations with the intent to
promote fair competition in an open market economy for the benefit of the public.
Congress passed the first antitrust statute, the Sherman Antitrust Act, in 1890 in
response to the public outrage toward big business. In 1914, Congress passed two
additional antitrust laws: the Federal Trade Commission Act and the Clayton Act.

In 1961, Congress passed the Sports Broadcasting Act which allowed major
professional sports to pool the broadcast rights of its member clubs to negotiate
television broadcast agreements that normally would have violated federal antitrust

enabled the NFL to protect its primary revenue source of live attendance by
negotiating with the networks as to when and where games would be televised.
Five years later, in 1966, Congress passed the Public Law 89 900 which had a major
impact on how the NFL would be examined under federal law. The statue contained
an antitrust provision that allowed for the merger of the National Football League

The Unredeemed Captive by John Demos
John Demos in a sense presents themes that are entirely familiar and conventional.
The themes of sin, retribution, and repentance are very prevalent in his writing.
The loss of piety, the failure of spiritual nerve, the absolute necessity of reform; and
the certainty of God s punishment if reform was not achieved appear throughout
his book (Demos). (In this instance, Eunice s failure to return to her native land is
putting her at risk in the eyes of God). For approximately 60 years John Williams
who had been a captive for almost two years, and is one of the main characters of the
story writes different letters, sermons, in an effort to reach the captive daughter.

The order of these writings is important as are the time and the setting in which each
one was composed. These writings reveal much of what captivity meant to him. In
addition, Demos incorporates parallels from the Bible such as biblical passages to
illustrate or compare the return of Naomi to Bethlehem in Stephen Williams sermon
to put pressure on his sister Euncie to return to Deefield (Demos 191). Noemi, in
effect was redeemed by returning to her home (Demos 192).
The circumstances of captivity were as varied as the number of people involved
on both sides. Prisoner redemption was the process of prisoner exchange that had
long been unfair. Captives were subject to ransom, trade for other key people, and
sometimes prisoners decided to remain in captivity since escape was very
dangerous. Acculturation which included adoption and repatriation were choices for
some of them as well. For example, Eunice s inability to speak English and her
personal appearance announce her loyalty to other standards (Demos 146). She had
been fully integrated or Indianized (Demos 142). Eunice comes of age in her adoptive
community, secure, and increasingly well integrated. The trauma of capture including

Employee Training
In order to improve the compliance of a protocol within a facility, it is important to
provide proper education and information to the employees. Mandatory education is
required by many healthcare facilities when new products or devices become
available so that all staff members are prepared to utilize the equipment when
necessary. In the case of preparing staff for the managementof hazardous waste, it
would be extremely important to plan mandatory educational in services that are
designed to inform the employees about the definitions of hazardous waste, the
proper handling of the infectious materials, and provide them with a copy of the
protocol set forth by the risk management team. Setting up these steps in employee
training would be crucial for achieving compliance in a healthcare setting.
Private Information Protection In this modern age, the use of technology has
changed the way human beings carry out most of their daily lives. In healthcare, this
is especially true. Patient information is no longer recorded with a pen and paper by

In the early days of the web, Flash was pretty much the only way to deliver a rich

inconsistently supported between browsers and relying on them was hardly worth the

Flash saw great success early on and pushed forward at an accelerated speed the

41. Quantitative Study Of Heat And Enthalpy Changes
PART A
Thermochemistry is the quantitative study of heat and enthalpy changes in chemical
reactions. Enthalpy (H) ... is a measure of the total energy possessed by a substance
or group of substances. (Smith 2006, pp. 289). The change in enthalpy (∆H) of a
substance is defined as the heat absorbed or released during a chemical reaction.
A car motor works by converting petrol, also known as chemical energy, to kinetic
energy, therefore assisting with the movement of a car.
A chemical reaction, known as combustion, occurs in the car motor. A combustion
reaction consists of a hydrocarbon reacting with oxygen (O2) to give the products
carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O). A hydrocarbon is a compound consisting
simply of Hydrogen (H2) and Carbon (C), methane (CH4) and diesel (C12H23) are
examples of a hydrocarbon. The chemical equation for a combustion reaction is as
follows: Hydrocarbon + Oxygen пѓ Carbon Dioxide + Water. The combustion
reaction of methane (CH4) is: CH4 (g) + 2O2 (g) пѓ CO2 (g) + 2H2O (l), the
combustion reaction of ethane is: 2C2H6 (g) + 7O2 (g) пѓ 4 CO2 (g) + 6 H2O (l)
and the combustion reaction for butane is 2C4H10 (g) +13O2 (g) пѓ 8CO2 (g)
+10H2O (g). If combustion takes place internally, the engine is referred to as an
internal combustion engine. A diesel engineis an example of this. Internal combustion
engines convert the chemical energy in fuel to mechanical energy via an exothermic
reaction.
An internal combustion engine, mainly consists of a
42. Outliers Reflection
After reading the chapter in the book Outliers, The Story of Success, I believe that
Gladwell did a great job explaining how different cultures can cause an impact our
to the society and the individuals. Although I love working in a work place that
embraces diversity and is accepting of all kinds of people, this may lead to some
challenges due to the differences that we pertain. For example, every coworker I
work with is unique in his or her own way; we were all raised differently and were
born into other communities. Furthermore, this enabled us all have different ways
of doing things or handling situations. One thing that I was taught to do a certain
way may bother a coworker of mine if they do it differently and vise versa which
could lead to those challenges. A talent that someone may be superior at, may be
extremely difficult for somebody else. In the end, everyone has their own talents
which should be embraced and used in order to become successful. In the book, they

Koreans are very similar to Colombians when it came to communication. Likewise,
Koreans are also respectful and passive people, which hindered them from
confrontations whenever faced in situations. They were submissive and often afraid
of communicating the errors in the aircraft to the flight captain, due to the authority
he had. In addition, they wanted to make sure that the Captains were less intimidating
and didn t act the American air traffic controllers, so the workers on the flight wouldn
t be submissive when it came to speaking up in an emergency. This taught Koreans
that they needed to improve their communication with one another, and learn from
the little mistakes that all three countries, Korea, Colombia, and America were both
doing. Korean Air did not succeed it did not right itself until it acknowledged the
importance of its cultural
43. Kant’s Practical Imperative in the Film The Insider
Essay
This principle is referred to as Kant s practical imperative and is an important
principle for an ethical system which says that each human being is an end in
himself or herself. No human being should be thought of or used merely as a means
for someone else end. Dr. Jeffrey Wigand the main protagonist of The Insiderportrays
himself to be a conflicted individual as he makes decisions throughout the movie.
Against an undetermined future, he ruminates about what he knows is right for
example, receiving threats, the phone ringing at odd hours. He makes most of his
decisions by weighing the cost and benefits, which may be referred to as Kant s
principle the end justifies the means .Analysis of Wigand if he had to disclose the

The Kantian perspective would consider Lowell actions to be unethical, as he
encourage another person to break his promise for a greater of social good. Lowell
knows the extent of the pleasure, but not the pain. The benefits of his encouragement
would uphold the honor of 60 minutes and CBS news, protecting the public against
harm. The disadvantages and the cost would result in Wigand and his family losing
all benefits from the agreement. The possible lawsuit faced against CBS and damages
to the tobacco industry and its employees. If he does not encourage Wigand, its just
result in vice versa, he would receive the benefits and the tobacco industry and
employees are protected. It would costs harm to public if they do not know the truth.
In conclusion it can be seen that both Wigand and Bergman used each other as means
to one anothers end.
Not actually being in his position it would be difficult to decide to what my actual
emotions would be, based on the fact that I would be putting my family in danger
to protect the public. I would have probably done the same as it would be my
moral obligation and the right thing to do. Kant s duty based ethics says that some
acts are wrong or right because of the things or situations that are related and people
have a duty to act in accordance, regardless of the good or bad consequences that
may be produced.
Dr. Wigand decision is an example of goodwill as he disregarded the concern of
consequences of his and his

In the current economy, the luxurious cruise lines, which once were exclusive to the
extremely privileged, are becoming a possible option for a large portion of the first
world countries. The Holland America Line is one of the most respected prestigious
cruise ship companies in the world. Holland America primarily works in the northern
hemisphere but their cruises cover most of the world.
The Holland America Line began as the Nederlandsch Amerikaansche Stoomvaart
Maatschappij (Dutch American Steamship Company), which was established after
the reorganization of a previous company; plate, Reuchlin Co. Established on 18
April 1873 and based in Rotterdam. Holland America Line first provided a ferry
service between the Netherlands and New York before expanding with services to
other ports such as Hoboken, Baltimore, and South America along with a service in
between Chicago to New York starting in 1899. Because transportation and shipping
were the main sources of revenue, it wasn t until 1895 that Holland America Line

45. Wood Home Myths
If you are in the process of designing your new home, the type of materials that will
be used is a critical decision to make. There are many different varieties of building
materials that you can use for your home, and while wood is one of the more
common, there are many people that believe some commonly spread myths about this
option. By refuting the following myths about using woodas a buildingmaterial for
your home, you will have more of the information required for you to make sound
choices for your home s needs.
Myth: It Is Difficult To Keep Wood Homes Safe From Rot And Termites
It is relatively common for people to assume that keeping a wood home safe from rot
and termites is a time consuming and labor intensive task, but this is
46. George Alexander Louis Of England
The most recent George was born Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge on
July 22, 2013 to Prince William of Wales and Duchess Catherine of Cambridge. His
birth placed him third in line to the throne behind his father, Prince William, and
grandfather, Prince Charles . Prince George joined a royal family tree shaken by
Georges, and the new prince s name called back to the Hanoverian times when four
Georges headed the throne successively. This period was one where men of foreign
descent reigned over Britain and, oddly enough, ushered in one of the greatest eras of
British unity and dominance . The Georges maintained the throne from 1714 to 1830;
although some were unorthodox and rude and others stubbornly absolutist, their reign
is revered today as distinguished enough so that the current prince and duchess
imparted the name upon their first born son. An act passed during Queen Anne s
reign, the 1701 Act of Succession, prohibited Catholics from the throne. The next
Protestant heir to the throne, George, Elector of Hanover, was 52nd in line. The
German heir found little celebrity in Britain, except amongst London s Hanover
Square residents in the West End who celebrated the new king s arrival. Because of
his inability to speak English, mainly due to his unwillingness to learn the language,
George I refused to attend Cabinet meetings where he could not understand what was
being discussed. Instead, the obstinate George I selected a specific person whom
would chair his seat
47. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Exclusive Jurisdiction
Statutory exclusive jurisdiction is a form of the international jurisdiction, which is
always regulated by the mandatory norms of the law and which may not be
overridden by an agreement on jurisdiction by the defendant s voluntary submission
to the different forum. It has imperative character and stands on the fact that the
matters involved in the exclusive jurisdictionrules are closely linked to the state
sovereignty or the territory of the state and in these situations, the state interest
prevails over the private. This means that the state has a special interest to make its
courts hear the dispute despite other controversial circumstances (such as for instance
the agreement on the jurisdiction of a different court), exclude any possibility to
transfer the case and the most important, do not allow the recognition and
enforcement of foreign judgments, which are made with the violation of the
exclusive jurisdiction rules. This special state interest is legally justified and
admissible. Therefore, the provisions of the exclusive jurisdictions prescribe that, if
the subject matter of the dispute is one of the specifically indicated therein, only the
courts pointed there have jurisdiction to hear the dispute and settle it.

Therefore, it is reasonable and legally justified for the above mentioned purposes, to
have this matter in the norm of the exclusive jurisdiction. Herewith, the more
practical element of having to take into account is the need to make entries in land
registers located where the immovable property is
