Richard Wright s Perspective Of The Sociological Imagination
In Wright s point of view, the sociological imagination allows us to understand history and
biography and the relation between this two within society. That is its task and its promise. Human
s life too connected to society; their lifestyle is whole society. In order to understand the human
society, we should look first the sociological imagination. It associated with the individual s
biography, history and tradition, personal troubles versus public issues, the social versus the
individual. The sociological imagination is an approach to sociology. Each of us has a place in the
world. We are all individuals in this world, then as we relate to one another, we grow, we develop.
History cannot exist, without people both living it and making it.... Show more content on

Also, the most productive difference with which the sociological imagination works is between
personal troubles of human environment and the public issues of society . This theory is a part
of sociological imagination because of it features all classic work of the social science.
According to Wright Troubles occur within the character of the individual and within the range
of his immediate relations with others, it is a private matter: values cherished by an individual
are felt by him to be threatened. Problems have to do with troubles that go beyond these local
environments of the individual and the range of his interior life. An issue is a public problem:
some rate valued by publics is felt to be disappearing In order to frame issues and troubles, we
must question what values are prized yet threatened and what values are cherished and supported
by the characterizing developments of our period. We should experience whatever occurs in our
own lives as distinctive and isolated, and also to interpret what happens to other people as unique
and private to them. This is the explanation of personal

Desai very carefully handles the themes of racial discrimination, migration ,political turmoil and
class discrimination. The novel provides us with some of the historical facts and the beautiful
imagery which makes us familiar with the geographical details of Nepal. We can easily draw
similarities between the novel and a movie. Just like a movie the novel deals with many characters
and there is a change in scenes within a chapter. It keeps moving back and forth in time which
makes it more interesting. The narrative techniques used by the author enhances the whole reading
experience. The novel traces the development of the characters and ends the story in positive

How Did Nina Simone Influence The Civil Rights Movement
The soulful queen of R B, blues, and jazz stood as a figure of raw talent, resilience, and most of
all grace. She captured the essence of a strong black woman. She emerged in the 50 s and 60 s,
captivating people with her raspy voice and beautiful music training. As a devoted Civil Rights
activists, Ms. Simone used her platform as a singer to fight the cause. She was known for songs
such as Mississippi Goddam, Young, Gifted and Black and Feeling Good .
She didn t feed on fame, she used it to expand the work that others were doing. Before she would
be known as Nina Simone, on February 21, 1933, in Tryon, North Carolina, Eunice Kathleen
Waymon was born. As a young girl, playing piano in church she felt, I was a black girl and I knew
about it. She realised the effect of racism when the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia rejected
her application because she was black. After ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She sought to sing the truth and share it to anyone that would listen. She inspired many
performers including Aretha Franklin, Joni Mitchell, and Lauryn Hill. Lauryn Hill wrote
because I fed on this music ... I believed I always had a right to have a voice. Her example is
clearly a form of sustenance to a generation needing to find theirs. What a gift (Lauryn Hill).
Indeed that was true, Nina Simone inspired a new generation of talented artists to have the
courage to express their talents. Her voice continues to live on through television and film
soundtracks. Two documentaries on Nina Simone s life were released in 2015: The Amazing
Nina Simone, directed by Jeff L. Lieberman and What Happened, Miss Simone?, from Netflix.
The project s detailed hard aspects of Simone s life. The project s included the abuse Simone
endured from her ex husband and also the aduse her daughter received from her mother. What

Emma Watson vs. Malala Yousafzai
Emma Watson vs. Malala Yousafzai
I am going to compare two very important speeches, in my opinion. Emma Watson s was on the
HeForShe Campaign and Malala Yousafzai s promoting education for girls.
Bothe speeches were delivered at the United Nations headquarters in New York. Emma Watson, at
the age of 24, launched a campaign called HeForShe on September 20, 2014. She is the UN
Women Goodwill Ambassador and she was cohosting this event when she gave the speech. She is a
famous British actress and has been advocating for gender equality.
Malala Yousafzai was shot in the head by the Taliban for going to school, and on July 12, 2013, at
the age of 16, she delivered a speech promoting education for girls. She has become a champion for

Emma Watson was clearly nervous, her voice was shaking as she spoke, but she did show the
world that she has a voice and it needed to be heard. On the other hand Malala Yousafzai was very
confident, with a powerful voice and passion.
Both of them were very prepared to give the speech, was very clear that they have practice the
speech countless times. I believe that for Malala Yousafzai was more natural since it comes from a
very powerful experience that gave her the strength to fight and be heard. However Emma Watson
also has passion about the subject.
They both Called to Action. Malala Yousafzai started six sentences by saying We Call upon... and
Emma said I am reaching out to you because I need your help...
Malala only looked down to her notes once while delivering her speech, she looked down and
captured a chunk of her next thoughts, paused, looked back up and delivered it. As for Emma
Watson, after her shaken introduction, she proved to be well prepared for the speech. They both
made eye contact with the audience, however Malala Yousafzai was able to make eye contct with
the entire body of the United Nations for the majority of her presentation. She would occasionally
look back to make eye contact with whomever was seating behind her.
They both gave a personal touch by relating their own experiences. Emma Watson experience with
gender based assumptions and her journey to becoming a feminist, and Malala s experience of

Serious Case Review
A Serious Case Review (SCR) is held when an at risk adult dies and neglect or abuse is
suspected to be a factor in their death. The aim of an SCR is for all agencies and people
involved to learn lessons about how they safeguard adults at risk and prevent such tragedies
occurring in the future. The purpose of the SCR is not to apportion blame, it is to: Establish
whether lessons can be learned from the case in which local professionals and agencies work
together to safeguard vulnerable adults Identify what those lessons are, how they will be acted
upon and what is expected to change within a given timescale: and to improve practice Inform and

Health and adult Social Care in England is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and
they ensure that the care people receive meets essential standards of quality and safety and they
encourage ongoing improvements by those who provide or commission care. They continuously
monitor compliance with essential standards and their assessors and inspectors frequently review
all available information they hold about a provider. Section 23(1) of the Health and Social Care
Act 2008 requires that the CQC produce guidance for providers of health and adult social care, to
help them comply with the regulations within the Act that govern their activities. The Act, the
regulations and this guidance are part of a wider regulatory framework that includes regulation of

Essay about Mass Media
Before fast spreading technology was introduced, politicians had limited ways of gathering
supporters for their political agenda. Today, technology is used to spread a lot of information to
many different people around the world. Online websites play a vital role in spreading political
agendas throughout the masses of the country. Through the technological changes, including
Facebook, Twitter, and Rock the Vote, political agendas are beginning to spread through
demographics that were harder to target before the Internet became easily accessible. These
demographics include men and women eighteen years of age and older. Over 500 million people
are active on Facebook, a social networking site where anyone can voice their opinions and ideas....

Today, people always have access to the Internet on the go, and The beauty of Twitter is that it
can be portable, allowing you to tweet from your cell phone. So when critical news breaks, your
elected official can keep you apprised of the latest developments (Orr). Since statuses and
updates come directly from the politician or celebrity themselves, Twitter is a reliable source to
people and it is not lost in translation. Although more people are tweeting every day, older
generations that cannot keep up are lacking in publicizing themselves in a political format. The
negative aspect on Twitter is that the relative newness of social networks like Twitter, make
social media strategy a nebulous affair for campaigns who aren t blessed with an intuitive grasp
of these fast paced platforms (James). Because social media is such a new concept in today s
society, many political campaign managers are still figuring it out how to use it to their advantage
in a positive way. If the candidates for office who are not used to today s technology cannot get with
the fast paced changing times of today, why would citizens want them running their country? In an
effort to attract younger audiences, celebrities such as Madonna, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Janet
Jackson have been

Summary of Prevail and Transcend Scenario in Radical...
Summary of Prevail and Transcend Scenario In chapter six of Radical Evolution, author Joel
Garreau shows through various interviews and examples that even though technology may be rising
on an exponentially increasing Curve, humans may still be able to change the effects of
technological advance in unpredictable ways. Deemed the Prevail scenario, it is also characterized
by humansslowing down once viewed inevitable change viewed as negative and speeding up
positive change. Another great theme of the Prevail Scenario is its idea that technological advance
will enable humans to acquire a better understanding of their society and nature. In addition to
discussing the Prevail scenario, Garreau also discusses the possible change humans... Show more

Garreau emphasizes this scenario by quoting Faulkner s famous saying that man will prevail
because he has a soul, a spirit capable of passion and sacrifice and endurance (qtd. in 209). Gareau
expands on the concept of the development of human nature in the chapter seven. Through a series
of interviews and examples, Garreau attempts to explain and clarify what it means for humans to
transcend and how technological advance will have an impact on that transcendence. Garreau starts
out the chapter with an explanation that throughout human history, humans have been changing
and evolving, with examples such as fire and writing. Then, Garreau describes the way human
nature is being changed: Even the least educated among us is not raised by wolves, feral and wild.
He grows up shaped by contemporary humans who own television, who have been shaped by
modern society (237). This quote further suggests that human nature may be impacted the
advancing GRIN technologies. To examine this possibility, Garreau interviewed Nick Bostrom, co
founder of the World Transhumanist Association. Bostrom shows his agreement with human
transcendence by asserting that Technological progress makes it harder for people to ignore the fact
that we might actually change the human nature (qtd. in Garreau, 242). Garreau also brings up the
topic of civil disruption from such enhancement. As discussed in the

Should Congress Close Guantanamo Bay Naval Station And...
Introduction There is a problem in the United States. There is an excess of terrorists and having
the most powerful nation on Earth means that these terrorists often end up in Guantanamo Bay,
Cuba. This prison is based on 45 square miles of land that is known more commonly as Gitmo.
Most people believe Guantanamo is a good concept but has gone terribly wrong. The government
needs to do something because with the current proposal from President Obama, detainees would
be moved ashore and abroad, which would not fix the problem. The problem is, what do we do
with all these terrorists? If this proposal passes through, people will be worried and need answers
about Gitmo. Why should the most dangerous people in the world come on American soil?
Research Question
Should Congress close Guantanamo Bay Naval Station and Prison?
Research
Guantanamo Bay opened in 2002 and since then more than 700 detainees have been held there. In
1991, approximately 34,000 Haitian refugees are detained on the base after they flee a coup in
Haiti. In 1994 1995, more than 55,000 Cubans and Haitians, captured at sea, are kept at
Guantanamo. These are not considered detainees because they are not American prisoners, but
Cuban. At its peak in 2003, Guantanamo held nearly 680 detainees, and there were about 245 when
President Obama took office. The life standards at Guantanamo are the worst in human history.

The Effect Of Sodium Chloride On The Germination Rate Of...
Introduction
The purpose of this experiment is to observe the effects of Sodium Chloride (NaCl) on the
germination rate of Wisconsin Fast Plants.
Wisconsin Fast Plants (WFPs), or Brassica rapa, are plants in the Cruciferous family, developed
through selective breeding from a strain of Himalayan weeds (Williams). WFPs have a life
cycle of around forty days. This short life cycle makes WFPs valuable for laboratory study. In
addition, WFPs are simple to grow, as they only need water and a light source to survive
(Williams). Their simple needs, allowing ease in controlling variables, make WFPs ideal for use in
experiments.
Germination is the stage of plant growth through which a seed becomes a seedling plant. First, the
seed begins to absorb water and the radicle root emerges from the seed coat and into the water.
Then, the primary roots grow, the cotyledons move above ground, the stem begins to grow, and
leaves develop. The process is complete when the first leaves open and the cotyledons fall off (The
Learning Garden 2001).
NaCl has been shown to have a negative effect on plant growth (Lee and Van Iersal 2016) and
germination (Houle et al. 2001). The severity of these effects depends on the individual species
ability to grow in saline soil (Atkins et al. 2009). WFPs are part of a group of plants called
glycophytes, meaning that they have a limited ability to tolerate NaCl (Atkins et al. 2009). A study
specific to WFP germination found a decrease in germination in WFPs

Jack Kerouac s On the Road and Allen Ginsberg s Howl
Works Cited
It was a 1951 TIME cover story, which dubbed the Beats a Silent Generation, that led to Allen
Ginsberg s retort in his poem America, in which he vocalises a frustration at this loss of self
importance. The fifties Beat Generation, notably through Jack Kerouac s On the Road and Allen
Ginsberg s Howl #61482; as will here be discussed, fought to revitalise individuality and
revolutionise their censored society which seemed to produce everything for the masses at the
expense of the individual s creative and intellectual potential. Indeed, as John Clellon Holmes once
noted: TIME magazine called them the Silent Generation, but this may have been because TIME

Williams theory therefore suggests that the terms must necessarily co exist in order to define each
other. The pervasiveness of consent therefore characterises the fifties, against which these Beat
texts can be contrasted. Theodore Roszak s 1969 article The Making of a Counterculture, helps
define beat ideology as heightened self expression and often a rejection of political and authoritative
institutions... a negative spirit of the times coupled with a specific lifestyle . Both On the Road and
Howl and their author s lifestyles of their writers reflect this criterion, in idiomatic and contextual
terms, lending to the notion that they are, by the overall nature of their existence, countercultural
texts. Roszak s adolescent counterculture often seems the embodiment of Dean and Sal s beatitude
in On the Road when they pulse to music...value what is raunchy... flare against authority, seek new
experience, but it is similarly descriptive of the naked, sometime vulgar language Ginsberg
employs in Howl who bit detectives in the neck... let themselves be fucked in the ass. (13) The
Beats admire the vibrancy naturally present among youth, and although this is a style for which
their writing has been criticised, it is a move away from the traditionally

A Positive Relation Between Organizations, Human...
Additionally, trust in organizations is a positive relation with behavior at the workplace and is
connected with unions, human resources, and government interventions. Most government
marketplace interventions have used the alternative treatment principle of triage to split those in
pain into three groups : those who cannot be helped with the assets offered ,those who will
recuperate (or at least continue ) without any help, and those who will improve only with instant
assistance(Sastre,2010, chap.16).In some anxiety, managers have progressively advanced in
training, structural behavior, and job improvement to help workers. In order that a company is
productive a union, human resources, and government interventions must allow workers to change
their habits, skills, values, beliefs, and attitudes in a workforce. This process will more likely take
some hard work and years to process. They need to accept dissatisfactions and unpredicted
consequences of solutions to difficult problems, and the continuing power to work determinedly at
improving the quality of help the workers receive.
The federal government has intervened in the past and is still adjusting market outcomes. They are
keeping up with the needs of workers. The Home Ower Loan Corporation, Continental Illinois in

interventions which modify market outcomes.

Challenges of the Automobile Industry of USA Essay
As we all know, automobile industry plays an important part in the economy of USA; however, this
industry is facing some environmental challenges. In this assignment, I would like to discuss about
the challenges that the automobile industry of USA is struggling with. Specifically, there are four
main challenges that will be looked into details which are global competition, new technology,
emission s effect on the environment and the government s reaction, and the consumers opinion
about the products.
Firstly, the automobile industry of USA is facing an intense global competition. Beside some

As we can see, the automobile industry of USA is affected by the economic depression in 2009,
and there are more competitors trying to compete in the automobile industry.
Secondly, what is the role of new technology in empowering the automobile products? It is the
fact that USA is one of the countries having the best technology which is always updated for
new innovation. Nowadays, the means of shopping is not just going to the stores, looking at the
catalogues and talking to the dealers. Everything now can be done just by a click. All the big
automobile companies have their own official websites where customers can get the information
about the newest trends with all the detailed information. By this way, it can save customers a
great deal of time and they have more selection over a wide range of products. That is the reason
why there are more and more customers turning to online shopping. According to a survey done
by J.D. Power and Associates (2002), there were 60% to 80% of customers went to the company
website to search for information before going to the store and take the test drive. Another good
point about the Internet is that new customers can look for the review from those who already
purchased the products to see if that product is worth its cost, as stated in the same survey there is
60% of the buyers refer to the internet before making their purchase (J.D. Power and Associates,

Restricting Cell Phones in Public Places
Restricting Cell Phones in Public Places How many times have you seen someone on their cell

will be out eating with my family and look over at another table and a person will be in deep
conversation on the cell phone, while their family is with them. There are many reasons why
restricting cell phones could have a positive outcome. It can be rude to a family, disrespectful to
the other people that are around that person, and when a family goes out together it should be

Eating and talking on the phone or texting is not healthy to a person s digestive system. Stressful
mealtimes can cause medical conditions that can be harmful to a person s health, such as acid
reflux. Taking the cell phones out of a situation will make a person slow down and relax.
Actually enjoy eating a meal; instead of being hurried can be beneficial. Not being able to be on
the phone during a meal can give a person some relaxation time. Some people would argue that
having their cell phone is a necessity to their jobs, but a person has to have some personal time
to enjoy their family and friends, without the disruption of the phone ringing constantly. It is
understandable if it is an emergency and the person needs to answer the phone. Working
constantly is not healthy for their wellbeing. Even if it is another friend calling, it is rude to be
with a person s family and be talking to someone else on the phone. We have become a society
that does not enjoy family time like it needs to. We only have our children for a few short years.
This time should be savored, not taken for granted. I think taking the cell phones out of the
equation would be beneficial for all the people involved. Restricting cell phone usage in public
places can be beneficial to everyone involved. Being on the phone is not only rude and
disrespectful to his or her family members, but also rude to anyone else they are having

Why Death So Much It Feels More Like A Memory
I consider my own mortality quite often. There is a lyric in the musical Hamilton that reads, I
imagine death so much it feels more like a memory. When is it going to get me? In my sleep,
several feet ahead of me? I remember first hearing this lyric and feeling that it was the only words
outside of my own thoughts I had connected with in a long while. Over the past few years, I have
been forced to reckon with my own mortality more than I believe useful. I have witnessed much
deaththroughout these past couple of years, and I have not always known what to do with it with
the grief, the sorrow, the loss, or the transience.
I constantly feel the impending doom that is my impermanence. I know death is a part of life I
am very painfully aware of this fact. I know that I will someday die, but what is it that I will
leave behind? Will I leave anything behind? I m a filmmaker, a photographer, a musician I have
projects that I am very proud of. But the question still rings in my ears: Have I done anything
valuable? And what does the world consider valuable? Is their value the same as mine? I find that I
do not know how to shake these questions from my attentions.
I grew up in a Christian community, believing that if you were baptized and maintained the Bible

my best friends passed away, I began to question mortality, as well as death as a whole. Exactly how

1. The turning radius of a car is 36 ft. What will be the distance in meters?
We got 1ft = 0.3048 m. So we solve it like,
Distance = 36 ft. x (0.3048 m. / 1 ft.) = 10.9728 m. is the answer.
2. What is the sum of 1370 cm, 1575 mm, and 8.63 m in meters? (Hint: Refer to section 1.9 in the
textbook.).
We convert everything to meters. We know that 1m = 100 cm and 1cm = 10 mm. so we got,
1370 cm = 13.7 m and 1575mm = 1.575 m, so we add up the 3 values;
Distance = 13.7 + 1.575 + 8.63 = 23.905 m.
3. The cross sectional area of a hole is 725 cm2. Given that the area of a circle is A = ПЂr2, find
the radius of the hole. (Hint: Use the problem solving method described in section 2.3 of the
textbook.).

12. What is the mass and weight of a 10 kg object on the moon where the force of gravity is 1/6th
that of the earth s?
Given m = 10 kg and gmoon = gm = 9.8/6 = 1.633 m/sВІ, find the weight.
Weight = w = m*gm = 10 x 1.633 = 16.333 N acting downward.
13. Find the acceleration of a forklift of mass 1400 kg pushed by a force of 2100 N that is opposed
by a frictional force of 425 N.
Given m = 1400 kg, F1 = 2100 N and Fk = 425 N. Find the acceleration a.

Mobile Phone Radiation Affects Our Health Essay
Introduction In the year 1966, less than 100 million adults across the globe had cell phones.
However, as of 2016, there were 4.23 billion mobile phone users across the globe. The
exponential increase in mobile phone use has made it urgent to determine whether or not
mobile phone radiation poses a health hazard. The question of whether mobile phone radiation
affects our health has been surrounded by controversy since the introduction of mobile phones.
For several years, the World Health Organization (WHO) has assured people that there are no
significant risks stemming from repeated use of mobile phones. However, it included mobile
phone radiation to the list of carcinogenic substances in the year 2011. A carcinogenic substance
is a substance that is directly involved in causing cancer. What exactly is Mobile Phone
Radiation? Mobile phone radiation can be defined as energy travelling through space in form of
waves. Since mobile phones use radio frequency (RF) to make or receive calls, it emits
electromagnetic radiation. The radiation emitted by the mobile phones is classified as non
ionizing. In simpler terms, it does not ionize other molecules; instead it excites materials into
another form of energy. If mobile phone radiation was ionizing, it would be very harmful as it
would ionize molecules causing more radiation effects. Other gadgets that produce non ionizing
radiation include visible light, microwave and radio waves. It is therefore true to say that we are in

4.3.4 Profit and Loss Account (Income Statement). Income statement is considered as a very
significant statement, with more attention to the firm s earning capacity as a measure of its
financial strength. The earning capacity and potential of a firm is reflected by its income
statement. The generally accepted convention is to show one year s events in income statement.
Since the income statement reflects the results of operations for a period of time, it is a flow
statement. The income statement presents the summery of revenues, expenses and net income of a

Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery
Coronary artery disease is one of the common forms of heart disease. It s caused by the narrowing
occurs in the coronary arteries so that reduces the flow of blood to the heart tissues. Through the
artery is gradually narrowing because of a substance called plaque builds up inside the wall of
coronary arteries, the heartmay not get enough bloodto work. (coronary arterydisease)If the plaque
ruptures, a blood clot can form around on its surface. Over the time, the blood clot can completely

In two of the diseases, coronary artery bypass graft surgery is better than angioplasty treatment.
Coronary artery bypass is a surgery by using your vessels to repair the damaged arteries, but
angioplasty treatment is using a human made tube to expand the damaged arteries. The benefits
of coronary artery bypass surgery includes it has a lower death rate, especially among the high
risk patients. And it s reduced injury to the heart after the surgery. It s a safe surgery to save our
coronary arteries since it improves our survival rate and reduces the heart attack risk (benefits).
However, angioplasty treatment has a risk after a long period of surgery. It helps to fix coronary
artery disease at first for a short period. But after several years, your artery might start re narrow
or blocked again where your tube is hold, because of the blood clot clump together on the tube
(risks). When a blood clot forms, it can block the artery to flow blood to heart (risks of
angioplasty). It might cause heart attack or death. In conclusion, I personally prefer coronary artery
bypass surgery than angioplasty

Triangle Theory Of Love Essay
The theories of love covered many components and view about what love is, what drives us to
want someone and also what brings someone to committing to that significant other for the long
run. One theory that I found to be the most helpful in categorizing love and explaining what makes
a person want to find lovein the first place was the Sternberg s Triangular Theory of Love.
Sternberg s Triangle Theory of Love have three points in the triangular shape which are decision
/commitment, intimacy and passion. Decision and commitment is when a person consciously
make the decision to do thing for the relationship and invest time into the relationship for better
or worse. The person at this time is in total awareness and in control of what they would like to
do in the relationship and where they would want to lead it in the future. Passion is when our
partner reciprocates our passion or lust for them through kissing or making love. Intimacy is where
we have become very emotionally invested in our partner expressing ourselves through
communication. This theory is one that shows that couples can be a match or mismatch, but show
points to where they are very compatible. I thought this theory on love was the most meaningful
and useful to me because it is simplistic for understanding and to being able to test it in real life. I
believe that as a person seeking out for love, you want to probably go through the three points on
the triangle that Sternberg has described. I believe that

How To Get Credit For A New Business Case Study
How to get credit for a new business
Written by Janet Gershen Siegel
Do you know how a new business can acquire a business line of credit? As a new business, by
definition, you have no or little business credit history, so it could be difficult. When you ask:
What is the credit score of a new business? The answer is it s usually not so hot. But you can get
past that. Here are some ideas which will work.
Use your personal credit to get started
At some point, you will want to stop doing this, but at the beginning, you have got to get your new
business off the ground, and that means you will need developmental funding. This is funding to
do anything from paying a rental deposit for an office to purchasing a set of prototypes for a ...

No matter which kind of vendor you get trade credit with, be responsible and, of course, pay them
on time (and early, if you can swing that). Not only does that reinforce and maintain that
relationship, it also counts toward your credit score.
Be responsible with any credit you ve got, including personal
This may feel a bit like an obvious fact, but your use of currently existing credit will be what any
creditor (trade or banks, etc.) will use to ascertain if you can pay your bills on time and are,
therefore, what is considered a good credit risk. Suddenly squandering all of your personal credit
at the tables in Vegas is not going to endear you to future lenders. New companies in particular,
no matter how cautious they are, are generally evaluated as the full credit package. That is, both
personal and business credit scores are under consideration. If you look like a bad credit risk on the
personal credit side, you ll appear, to future lenders and creditors, to be an equally poor credit risk
on the business side of things.
Establish your business under IRS rules
And finally, because a new business and its credit will inevitably be conflated with the personal
credit of its founder(s), take steps to separate the two. One of the most significant steps you can
take is to apply for an IRS EIN (employer identification number). By declaring to the IRS that your
new business is the real deal, and not just a pipe dream

The Importance Of Expungement
We know, in this country, that children are inherently different from adults and studies confirm this
(Shah, Fine, Gullen, 2014). These proven studies, have influenced the U.S. Supreme Court in
making case law on treating youths in a different manner from adults. This includes the ability to
have a juvenile record expunged (Shah, Fine, Gullen, 2014). When a juvenile commits an offense
and an investigation is conducted, many pieces of personal information are collected. Most states
have realized, protecting this information of youths, should be guided under separate regulations
than adults (Shah, Fine, Gullen, 2014). In the United States, we understand that youths are more apt
to make changes in behavior, and should not have the obstacle of transitioning into adulthood with
the burden of a record (Shah, Fine, Gullen, 2014).
Expungement basically means that a record will be destroyed and it will be as if it never
happened (Shah, Fine, Gullen, 2014). This is true to some degree, but no record is ever truly
wiped clean. Each state in America has established laws, which govern the process for
expungement. For example, some states are set up to automatically expunge juvenile records at a
certain age to set them up for success, as they transfer into adult status (Shah, Fine, Gullen, 2014).
In other states, the court has to be petitioned by the individual. Also, just because a record is
expunged, some instances still require discloser of the juvenile record

This experiment was designed to examine the efficacy of naturally occurring antimicrobials against
common bacteria located in a normal human microbiome. Three antimicrobials, Melaleuca
alternifolia (tea tree) oil, commercial honey, and Capsicum annuum (red chili pepper), were tested
on the gram negative Escherichia coli and the gram positive Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria.
Quantitative data was taken using the filter paper disk method to determine the zones of inhibition
produced by the three antimicrobials. The results collected showed that Melaleuca alternifolia (tea
tree) oil is an effective broad spectrum antimicrobial, while honey produced partial inhibition with
an outer ring of stimulation signifying that the honey is merely bacteriostatic for a short period of
time before growth reoccurs. The Capsicum annuum (red chili pepper) stimulated bacterial growth
indicating possible contamination or lack of antimicrobial properties.

Gender, Social, And Social Sciences And Humanities
gender role is a theoretical construct in the social sciences and humanities that refers to a set of
social and behavioral norms that, within a specific culture, are widely considered to be socially
appropriate for individuals of a specific sex. Socially accepted gender roles differ widely between
different cultures.
Sex is what we are categorized based on our reproductive organs; female or male. Sex is pretty so
concrete, for the most part, unless you are born with some rare genetic sex chromosomal disorder.
Gender, it, well can be harder to determine. Gender is merely the state of being male or female.
Like with the states of water, the state of being male or female, can be manipulated or changed.
With each gender comes certain gender roles. These roles are to help accentuate one s sex to
society. Gender roles have been around for centuries. The greatest thing we notice, when it comes to
gender roles, is how much they vary from culture to culture.

Adverts R Us Analysis
I will begin with the commentary Advertisements R Us , by Melissa Rubin. I agree, somewhat,
that advertising is a way to hook the consumers. Of course, that is how they expect to sell their
product. When a company wants to market their product, they will advertise it to appeal to a variety
of consumers. They will try to convince the consumers that they must have the product they are
marketing. I do agree with the writer that maybe at some point in time, marketing a product was
geared towards specific types of consumers. Perhaps, those consumers may have been the only
type of people that could afford to spend the money to purchase the product that was being
marketed. Back in those days, having a Coca Cola was a luxury, and most households only had
one income. Now a days, it is fair game for everyone because we have a more diverse
community. More jobs are available to all races and genders, and two income households are now
necessary to make ends meet. According to the writer in the commentary, it sounds like the
advertisement was somewhat partial. It does not appear to have people from other ethnic groups. I
cannot imagine that Coca Cola would intentionally leave out specific types of people since they
were a popular manufacturer in those days, of course, that is just my opinion.... Show more content

Major Characteristics Of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa
I. Description of P. aeruginosa
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is characterized by aerobic, gram negative, motile, non spore forming
bacilli (rods).1 A trait that differentiates P. aeruginosa from other gram negative bacteria is the
fact that it produces indophenol oxidase, which is an enzyme that renders them positive in an
oxidase test.1 The type of flagella this organism is known to possess is called a polar flagella,
meaning a single flagellum at one pole of the rod.1 This means the motility of the organism is
quite limited and can travel only in one direction. In spite of this, the single flagellum, as well as
the presence of pili, are major contributions to the motility of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.1 The
Pseudomonas genus, the genus from which P. aeruginosa originates from, is known to be an
environmental bacteria; hence why this organism is very common in soil, water, and even fresh
fruits and vegetables.1 A common characteristic of environmental bacteria, P. aeruginosa being of
no exception, is the ways in which they grow. P. aeruginosa grows and thrives in biofilms which are
groups of adhering bacteria in aqueous environments. These biofilms eventually begin to produce a
slimy substance resembling glue which allows them to spread and stick to other materials/locations.
Not only does P. aeruginosa require minimal nutritional requirements, but the entire Pseudomonas
genus type does as well.1 Due to P. aeruginosa (usually) only needing acetate as carbon and
ammonia as nitrogen,

Descriptive Essay About Fountain Pen
I ve always enjoyed collecting the finer utensils in life mainly writing and shaving instruments to

He inspired then 8 year old Sanjay to write a letter to Nintendo, asking to beta test the latest

to build their nests. But the tiny rodents pack more than just random objects they pack a serious
punch. If you have pack rats in your garden, you need to get rid of them before you become a
victim of their nefarious ways.
Pack Rats Steal Without Remorse
With their large eyes and adorable faces [https://i2.wp.com/www.org4life.com/wp content/uploads
/2013/08/Packrat.gif], pack rats look innocent. But don t be fooled. These tiny rodents have no
regard for the law. They steal without remorse, and similar to people they love shiny objects.
Pack rats go to great lengths to steal the shiny objects they love. They re gifted climbers that do
their bidding at night. They climb homes like four legged ninjas and squish their tiny bodies
through any openings they find. Once in your home, they grab the shiniest objects they can find,
and steal with a lack of remorse that would even make Leonardo Notarbartolo ... Show more content

Pack Rats Can t Help but Start Fires From Time to Time
Because they re natural explorers with inquisitive minds, pack rats find themselves in all sorts of
places you don t want them. Under the cover of darkness, they get into cars, air conditioning units,
and attics. Unfortunately, these nighttime expeditions often lead pack rats to electrical wires. And,
even more unfortunately, pack rats happen to like chewing on wires.
You can see where this going. Pack rats, like other rodents, have been known to chew through
wires and start electrical fires. Though they may not have a motive, their intentions good or bad
won t do much to comfort you if a pack rat starts a fire on your property.

Symbolism In Friday Night Lights
H.G. Bissinger s Friday Night Lights occurs in Odessa, Texas where Permian football remains
the diversion through which the locals are able to live vicariously through, leading to the local s
attitudes and personal lives relying largely on the success of the team. This is evident when
looking at Jim Lewallen, L.V. Miles, and Charlie Billingsley. Odessa s small size makes it
complicated for people to lead lives separate from football. Most everyone can say that they have
taken part in the football phenomenon, the Permian Panthers. Jim Lewallen may not be a
parent, but football is what he lives for. Being a retiree, Lewallen has been long removed from
the highschool scene and yet he still relies on football as a pastime. He takes satisfaction in the
players accomplishments as if they are his own children. It is what he looks forward to and
what keeps his life interesting and prides himself in knowing all the plays. While anxiously
awaiting the beginning of the season Jim explains to Bissinger, That football is just something
that keeps me going . You know the kids moves, you know em personally. It s just like your own
kids (41). The indirect characterization of Lewallen in this scene leaves us to infer what he is
like on a deeper level, leading the reader to conclude that Permian football is the focal point of
Lewallen s life. It presents him as protective, almost fatherly. The intensity he feels is proven when
readers are informed that the players are like his

Academic Restructuring Plan Proposed for Next Gall
UTSA s proposed academic restructuring will benefit students by strengthening programs,
increasing program development, improving academic advising, and attracting and retaining faculty.
According to Dr. Guy Bailey, provost and vice president for academic affairs, the proposed
academic reorganization will implement a new college structure‹six colleges will replace
UTSA s current four. The new colleges will consist of the College of Business, College of
Education and Human Development, College of Engineering, College of Liberal and Fine Arts,
College of Sciences, and College of Urban Professional Programs.
Additionally, division directors will be replaced with rotating department chairs. That s a transition
that will take place over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bailey attributes the vacancies to the very complex and difficult duties of the division directors who
often deal with competing interests within the division.
Dr. Richard Tangum, architecture, became the latest of a handful of division directors to be replaced.
In this case, I think the lines of communication between this division director and this dean had
broken down, said Bailey, stressing the importance of communication between a division director
and a dean.
Though the change to smaller departments will not eliminate departmental miscommunication and
competing interests entirely, Bailey said it would help alleviate problems.
Bailey added that the current vacancies of division directors were one factor that lead the
committee to suggest a department based structure.
Eventually, many departments, such as communication and education, are scheduled to relocate to
the new Academic III Building, proposed to be completed by spring 2003. Concurrently, the
department of computer science is scheduled to move to the new Bioengineering Building set to be
completed around the same time as the Academic III Building.
In addition to restructuring UTSA s colleges, the university is currently searching for 69 tenured
and tenure track faculty members, 30 of which will fill new positions. Though the search for new
faculty members is underway, Bailey said typically those positions will not all be filled because of

Employment Decision Of Will Roberts
Employment Decision of Will Roberts When a person is in the military, they have to make some
very important decisions as they rise in the ranks. Often it is hard to get management to agree with
you, due to the fact that some managers want all the glory. Through an open door policy program,
bargaining, and negotiations a mission can be accomplished more successfully.
Employment Decision Choice Fort Sill, Oklahoma sends out around 2,000 basic training Soldiers
on a two week vacation during the Christmas and New Year s Holiday. It is the job of the Fort
Sill Emergency Operations Center to assist in the logistics and tracking of all these Soldiers from
the base to the bus station or airport. Every two hours after this mission begins, it is a requirement
to send out a PowerPoint presentation on the location numbers of each Soldier.
This is difficult if you do not know exactly what the Colonel wants to send to the Commanding
General of the base. The Colonel had an open door policy, but as a courtesy a person needs to talk
to his direct supervisor first. We changed the slides so often during the departure of the Soldiers
that my fellow coworkers got frustrated. One of the main reasons because lack of information and
correct communication information between us, the Colonel, and the organizational representatives
(both at the base, on the buses, and at the airport). These representatives were supposed to call us
after a bus left the base, arrived at the bus station or airport,

A Christmas Carol Analysis
Chains composed of links forged from sin, sorrow and seclusion are Ebenezer Scrooge s awaiting
fate, unless he can put his pride behind him to gain forgiveness from those he hurt...before it s too
late. Scrooge believes that man s business is to make money, which opposes Dickens teachings, in
his book A ChristmasCarol. In A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickensshows that one s business in life
is to commit to charity and helping others, through what Scrooge learns from the Three Spirits
lessons. In stave I, Scrooge thinks man s business is making money, which caused him to be the
way he is, penurious and lonely. In the following piece of evidence, Scrooge gets into an
argument with his nephew. Clearly expressing the fact he very much dislikes Christmas, in this
argument, and that it makes no one any richer, so there should be no point to celebrate;
especially for someone who is apparently as poor as Fred, his nephew. But, Fred believes there
is so much more to Christmas. On page 5, in stave I, Scrooge says to Fred, Whats Christmastime
to you but a time for paying bills without money; a time for finding yourself a year older, and not
an hour richer... This evidence is relevant, because it shows how Scrooge believes that Christmas
is unproductive and ineffective. While Fred believes otherwise, he did not convince his Uncle
Scrooge of the true meaning of Christmas, not in this encounter anyway. Still carrying on the
argument, Scrooge tells Fred his honest opinion about Christmas. From Scrooge to Fred, ...If I
could work my will... every idiot who goes about with Merry Christmas on his lips should be
boiled with his own pudding, and buried with a stake of holly through his heart, stave I, page 6.
This evidence is essential, because it unmistakably shows Scrooge s true hatred for anyone who
carries the Christmas spirit in his presence. After all the Spirit s lessons, Scrooge now believes
mankind s businesses is to give to and take care of others, and be happy with what you ve been
given. In the book, after Scrooge wakes up on Christmas morning in the best mood ever, he runs
into the charity workers that asked him to donate to the less fortunate, at the beginning of the book.
Upon seeing him, Scrooge feels guilty

Persuasive Essay On Prayer For God
He is unaware, or He is too old and inept to function alone and needs you to watch Him as you
would someone disabled. If you believe every hair on your head is counted and God knows
when the sparrow falls to the ground, you must also know God is aware of everyone s plight
and condition. He does not need you to tell Him what to do; such is demeaning to the Creator.
Rather than praying for someone s healing, you should pray the person is filled with strength to
overcome adversity. Never should you pray to receive anything in your life except strength to
overcome adversities. The gifts you should pray to receive is the wisdom to ask for what Godhas
chosen for you to receive. The blessing you need from God is to know how He wants you to
serve Him. Everything else will follow. Now I will tell you how to please your Creator. In the
past, you had an excuse of ignorance; now you have no excuse. Your God insists His creation
emulate His holiness and purity. Whatever is holy, pure, and clean you will have; anything less,
you will not have. You will live for your neighbor, the stranger you do not know. Let me inform
you, anyone with a me first attitude will become last. You will achieve spiritual godliness when
you are in overwhelming thankfulness in the face of adversity. In this era, you will be given many
chances to achieve spiritual godliness you will use to please your Creator. There cannot be true
godliness unless you are proficient in hate. Many believe all they need is to

Interpretation By Susan Sontag

IA Term Paper Sem II

Susan Sontag s View on Interpretation and its Applications and Analysis Using Bedlam Painting
Number Eight
Interpretation has been a phenomenon existing from the time immemorial. There has been a long
tradition of interpretation, in all occupations. Interpretation of arts and literature has gone to an
extent that it has taken shape of a discipline and has grown as a methodology and an art itself.
Eliot even says, We might remind ourselves that criticism is as inevitable as breathing . Method of
Interpretation has long been a subject of discussion among intellectual circles and it has been
subject to a constant evolution ever since it came into being. Moreover, the conventional methods
have always been circling around the dynamics of relationship of the signifier and the signified, a
discourse upon meaning of a work of art. Sontag has proposed an objection towards the traditional
methods of such kind. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She says in the essay, I don t mean interpretation in the broadest sense, the sense in which
Nietzsche (rightly) says, There are no facts, only interpretations. By interpretation, I mean here a
conscious act of the mind which illustrates a certain code, certain rules of interpretation. Sontag is
opposed to the criticism of a kind where a critic is given all authority to assign meaning to a work
of art according to his/her own whims and

Technology And Its Impact On The Classroom Essay
Progression, the ever enduring race of humankind to becoming better and more advanced beings,
has become interwoven with technology, as nearly all aspects of one s life, whether it being at
home, for leisure, at work, or in the educational sector is entwined with elements of digitality. This
notion leads one to see that the participation with technologies can be an essential aspect of one s
progression in this new contemporary society. The emergence and subsequent dominance of
Information Communication Technology (ICT) in this digitally mediated world has led to the need
for digital education in schools, which in turn can bring both potentials and challenges in divergent
school settings, as digital literacies bring differing values and meanings in relation to the setting
they are situated in. Transitioning from old to new literacies; digital literacyas a socially imbued
construct; digital divide; ICT out of school; educators and ICT; and implementing ICT in the
classroom will be discussed in order to extricate both the potentials and challenges with the
immersion of digital literacies in education.
Transitioning from Old to New Literacies
Over the years, as with most things, literacy too, has changed, transformed and progressed into a
more complex and nuanced construct. In the past, old literacies chiefly utilised alphabetic literacy,
as its main tool, such as the printing press, having ... privileged the written language over all other
forms of semiosis, thus

Use Of The Insanity Plea In The American Justice System
Forgiving someone in your heart doesn t mean that you let them loose in Virginia to pursue
whatever dark agendas they may still hold dear, writes Patti Davis, whose father s would be
assassin was deemed legally insane, but was later released from a mental hospital. In the
American justice system, an unjust plea remains an escape for a convicted man to lessen the
punishment he receives and deserves. Consider one young girl who faced up to 65 years in prison
for murdering her classmate, but escaped with only three years in a mental institution. Should she
get off on such a small sentence while most other people would have been behind bars for 65
years? Use of the Insanity Plea in the American justice system should be amended since it has often
resulted in an unjust legal outcome that provides the accused with a convenient technicality to
avoid punishment. In the modern legal system, a jury has two legal ways to define the extent that
the defendant s mind was incapacitated, thus lessening his sentence: Mentally ill or legally insane.
According to the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania in the case Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania v. DuPont, a defendant who is mentally ill can be legally defined as, one who as a
result of mental disease or defect, lacks substantial capacity either to appreciate the wrongfulness
of his conduct or to conform his conduct to the requirements of the law, whereas a defendant who
is legally insane can be defined as, at the time of the commission of the

Richard Wright s Perspective Of The Sociological Imagination In Wright s point of view, the sociological imagination allows us to understand history and biography and the relation between this two within society. That is its task and its promise. Human s life too connected to society; their lifestyle is whole society. In order to understand the human society, we should look first the sociological imagination. It associated with the individual s biography, history and tradition, personal troubles versus public issues, the social versus the individual. The sociological imagination is an approach to sociology. Each of us has a place in the world. We are all individuals in this world, then as we relate to one another, we grow, we develop. Also, the most productive difference with which the sociological imagination works is between personal troubles of human environment and the public issues of society . This theory is a part of sociological imagination because of it features all classic work of the social science. Problems have to do with troubles that go beyond these local environments of the individual and the range of his interior life. An issue is a public problem: some rate valued by publics is felt to be disappearing In order to frame issues and troubles, we must question what values are prized yet threatened and what values are cherished and supported by the characterizing developments of our period. Through a series of interviews and examples, Garreau attempts to explain and clarify what it means for humans to transcend and how technological advance will have an impact on that transcendence. Garreau starts out the chapter with an explanation that throughout human history, humans have been changing and evolving, with examples such as fire and writing. Then, Garreau describes the way human nature is being changed: Even the least educated among us is not raised by wolves, feral and wild. He grows up shaped by contemporary humans who own television, who have been shaped by modern society (237). This quote further suggests that human nature may be impacted the advancing GRIN technologies. To examine this possibility, Garreau interviewed Nick Bostrom, co founder of the World Transhumanist Association. Bostrom shows his agreement with human transcendence by asserting that Technological progress makes it harder for people to ignore the fact that we might actually change the human nature (qtd. in Garreau, 242). • 12. The Effect Of Sodium Chloride On The Germination Rate Of... Introduction The purpose of this experiment is to observe the effects of Sodium Chloride (NaCl) on the germination rate of Wisconsin Fast Plants. Wisconsin Fast Plants (WFPs), or Brassica rapa, are plants in the Cruciferous family, developed through selective breeding from a strain of Himalayan weeds (Williams). WFPs have a life cycle of around forty days. This short life cycle makes WFPs valuable for laboratory study. In addition, WFPs are simple to grow, as they only need water and a light source to survive (Williams). Their simple needs, allowing ease in controlling variables, make WFPs ideal for use in experiments. Germination is the stage of plant growth through which a seed becomes a seedling plant. First, the seed begins to absorb water and the radicle root emerges from the seed coat and into the water. Then, the primary roots grow, the cotyledons move above ground, the stem begins to grow, and leaves develop. The process is complete when the first leaves open and the cotyledons fall off (The Learning Garden 2001). NaCl has been shown to have a negative effect on plant growth (Lee and Van Iersal 2016) and germination (Houle et al. 2001). The severity of these effects depends on the individual species ability to grow in saline soil (Atkins et al. 2009). WFPs are part of a group of plants called glycophytes, meaning that they have a limited ability to tolerate NaCl (Atkins et al. 2009). A study specific to WFP germination found a decrease in germination in WFPs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, as of 2016, there were 4.23 billion mobile phone users across the globe. The exponential increase in mobile phone use has made it urgent to determine whether or not mobile phone radiation poses a health hazard. The question of whether mobile phone radiation affects our health has been surrounded by controversy since the introduction of mobile phones. For several years, the World Health Organization (WHO) has assured people that there are no significant risks stemming from repeated use of mobile phones. However, it included mobile phone radiation to the list of carcinogenic substances in the year 2011. A carcinogenic substance is a substance that is directly involved in causing cancer. What exactly is Mobile Phone Radiation? Mobile phone radiation can be defined as energy travelling through space in form of waves. Since mobile phones use radio frequency (RF) to make or receive calls, it emits electromagnetic radiation. The radiation emitted by the mobile phones is classified as non ionizing. In simpler terms, it does not ionize other molecules; instead it excites materials into another form of energy. If mobile phone radiation was ionizing, it would be very harmful as it would ionize molecules causing more radiation effects. Other gadgets that produce non ionizing radiation include visible light, microwave and radio waves. It is therefore true to say that we are in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Triangle Theory Of Love Essay The theories of love covered many components and view about what love is, what drives us to want someone and also what brings someone to committing to that significant other for the long run. One theory that I found to be the most helpful in categorizing love and explaining what makes a person want to find lovein the first place was the Sternberg s Triangular Theory of Love. Sternberg s Triangle Theory of Love have three points in the triangular shape which are decision /commitment, intimacy and passion. Decision and commitment is when a person consciously make the decision to do thing for the relationship and invest time into the relationship for better or worse. The person at this time is in total awareness and in control of what they would like to do in the relationship and where they would want to lead it in the future. Passion is when our partner reciprocates our passion or lust for them through kissing or making love. Intimacy is where we have become very emotionally invested in our partner expressing ourselves through communication. This theory is one that shows that couples can be a match or mismatch, but show points to where they are very compatible. I thought this theory on love was the most meaningful and useful to me because it is simplistic for understanding and to being able to test it in real life. I believe that as a person seeking out for love, you want to probably go through the three points on the triangle that Sternberg has described. I believe that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. The Importance Of Expungement We know, in this country, that children are inherently different from adults and studies confirm this (Shah, Fine, Gullen, 2014). These proven studies, have influenced the U.S. Supreme Court in making case law on treating youths in a different manner from adults. This includes the ability to have a juvenile record expunged (Shah, Fine, Gullen, 2014). When a juvenile commits an offense and an investigation is conducted, many pieces of personal information are collected. Most states have realized, protecting this information of youths, should be guided under separate regulations than adults (Shah, Fine, Gullen, 2014). In the United States, we understand that youths are more apt to make changes in behavior, and should not have the obstacle of transitioning into adulthood with the burden of a record (Shah, Fine, Gullen, 2014). Expungement basically means that a record will be destroyed and it will be as if it never happened (Shah, Fine, Gullen, 2014). This is true to some degree, but no record is ever truly wiped clean. Each state in America has established laws, which govern the process for expungement. For example, some states are set up to automatically expunge juvenile records at a certain age to set them up for success, as they transfer into adult status (Shah, Fine, Gullen, 2014). In other states, the court has to be petitioned by the individual. Also, just because a record is expunged, some instances still require discloser of the juvenile record ... Three antimicrobials, Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) oil, commercial honey, and Capsicum annuum (red chili pepper), were tested on the gram negative Escherichia coli and the gram positive Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. Quantitative data was taken using the filter paper disk method to determine the zones of inhibition produced by the three antimicrobials. The results collected showed that Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) oil is an effective broad spectrum antimicrobial, while honey produced partial inhibition with an outer ring of stimulation signifying that the honey is merely bacteriostatic for a short period of time before growth reoccurs. The Capsicum annuum (red chili pepper) stimulated bacterial growth indicating possible contamination or lack of antimicrobial properties. Gender, Social, And Social Sciences And Humanities gender role is a theoretical construct in the social sciences and humanities that refers to a set of social and behavioral norms that, within a specific culture, are widely considered to be socially appropriate for individuals of a specific sex. Socially accepted gender roles differ widely between different cultures. Sex is what we are categorized based on our reproductive organs; female or male. Sex is pretty so concrete, for the most part, unless you are born with some rare genetic sex chromosomal disorder. Gender, it, well can be harder to determine. Gender is merely the state of being male or female. Like with the states of water, the state of being male or female, can be manipulated or changed. With each gender comes certain gender roles. These roles are to help accentuate one s sex to society. Gender roles have been around for centuries. The greatest thing we notice, when it comes to gender roles, is how much they vary from culture to culture. Since marriage constitutes slavery for women, it is clear that the women s movement must concentrate on attacking this institution. Freedom for women cannot be won without the abolition of marriage. Of course, that is how they expect to sell their product. When a company wants to market their product, they will advertise it to appeal to a variety of consumers. They will try to convince the consumers that they must have the product they are marketing. I do agree with the writer that maybe at some point in time, marketing a product was geared towards specific types of consumers. Perhaps, those consumers may have been the only type of people that could afford to spend the money to purchase the product that was being marketed. Back in those days, having a Coca Cola was a luxury, and most households only had one income. Now a days, it is fair game for everyone because we have a more diverse community. More jobs are available to all races and genders, and two income households are now necessary to make ends meet. According to the writer in the commentary, it sounds like the advertisement was somewhat partial. It does not appear to have people from other ethnic groups. • 36. Major Characteristics Of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa I. Description of P. aeruginosa Pseudomonas aeruginosa is characterized by aerobic, gram negative, motile, non spore forming bacilli (rods).1 A trait that differentiates P. aeruginosa from other gram negative bacteria is the fact that it produces indophenol oxidase, which is an enzyme that renders them positive in an oxidase test.1 The type of flagella this organism is known to possess is called a polar flagella, meaning a single flagellum at one pole of the rod.1 This means the motility of the organism is quite limited and can travel only in one direction. In spite of this, the single flagellum, as well as the presence of pili, are major contributions to the motility of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.1 The Pseudomonas genus, the genus from which P. aeruginosa originates from, is known to be an environmental bacteria; hence why this organism is very common in soil, water, and even fresh fruits and vegetables.1 A common characteristic of environmental bacteria, P. aeruginosa being of no exception, is the ways in which they grow. P. aeruginosa grows and thrives in biofilms which are groups of adhering bacteria in aqueous environments. These biofilms eventually begin to produce a slimy substance resembling glue which allows them to spread and stick to other materials/locations. Not only does P. aeruginosa require minimal nutritional requirements, but the entire Pseudomonas genus type does as well.1 Due to P. aeruginosa (usually) only needing acetate as carbon and ammonia as nitrogen, ... • 43. Employment Decision Of Will Roberts Employment Decision of Will Roberts When a person is in the military, they have to make some very important decisions as they rise in the ranks. Often it is hard to get management to agree with you, due to the fact that some managers want all the glory. Through an open door policy program, bargaining, and negotiations a mission can be accomplished more successfully. Employment Decision Choice Fort Sill, Oklahoma sends out around 2,000 basic training Soldiers on a two week vacation during the Christmas and New Year s Holiday. It is the job of the Fort Sill Emergency Operations Center to assist in the logistics and tracking of all these Soldiers from the base to the bus station or airport. Every two hours after this mission begins, it is a requirement to send out a PowerPoint presentation on the location numbers of each Soldier. This is difficult if you do not know exactly what the Colonel wants to send to the Commanding General of the base. The Colonel had an open door policy, but as a courtesy a person needs to talk to his direct supervisor first. We changed the slides so often during the departure of the Soldiers that my fellow coworkers got frustrated. One of the main reasons because lack of information and correct communication information between us, the Colonel, and the organizational representatives (both at the base, on the buses, and at the airport). These representatives were supposed to call us after a bus left the base, arrived at the bus station or airport, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. A Christmas Carol Analysis Chains composed of links forged from sin, sorrow and seclusion are Ebenezer Scrooge s awaiting fate, unless he can put his pride behind him to gain forgiveness from those he hurt...before it s too late. Scrooge believes that man s business is to make money, which opposes Dickens teachings, in his book A ChristmasCarol. In A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickensshows that one s business in life is to commit to charity and helping others, through what Scrooge learns from the Three Spirits lessons. In stave I, Scrooge thinks man s business is making money, which caused him to be the way he is, penurious and lonely. In the following piece of evidence, Scrooge gets into an argument with his nephew. Clearly expressing the fact he very much dislikes Christmas, in this argument, and that it makes no one any richer, so there should be no point to celebrate; especially for someone who is apparently as poor as Fred, his nephew. But, Fred believes there is so much more to Christmas. On page 5, in stave I, Scrooge says to Fred, Whats Christmastime to you but a time for paying bills without money; a time for finding yourself a year older, and not an hour richer... This evidence is relevant, because it shows how Scrooge believes that Christmas is unproductive and ineffective. While Fred believes otherwise, he did not convince his Uncle Scrooge of the true meaning of Christmas, not in this encounter anyway. Still carrying on the argument, Scrooge tells Fred his honest opinion about Christmas. From Scrooge to Fred, ...If I could work my will... every idiot who goes about with Merry Christmas on his lips should be boiled with his own pudding, and buried with a stake of holly through his heart, stave I, page 6. This evidence is essential, because it unmistakably shows Scrooge s true hatred for anyone who carries the Christmas spirit in his presence. After all the Spirit s lessons, Scrooge now believes mankind s businesses is to give to and take care of others, and be happy with what you ve been given. In the book, after Scrooge wakes up on Christmas morning in the best mood ever, he runs into the charity workers that asked him to donate to the less fortunate, at the beginning of the book. Upon seeing him, Scrooge feels guilty ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Persuasive Essay On Prayer For God He is unaware, or He is too old and inept to function alone and needs you to watch Him as you would someone disabled. If you believe every hair on your head is counted and God knows when the sparrow falls to the ground, you must also know God is aware of everyone s plight and condition. He does not need you to tell Him what to do; such is demeaning to the Creator. Rather than praying for someone s healing, you should pray the person is filled with strength to overcome adversity. Never should you pray to receive anything in your life except strength to overcome adversities. The gifts you should pray to receive is the wisdom to ask for what Godhas chosen for you to receive. The blessing you need from God is to know how He wants you to serve Him. Everything else will follow. Now I will tell you how to please your Creator. In the past, you had an excuse of ignorance; now you have no excuse. Your God insists His creation emulate His holiness and purity. Whatever is holy, pure, and clean you will have; anything less, you will not have. You will live for your neighbor, the stranger you do not know. Let me inform you, anyone with a me first attitude will become last. You will achieve spiritual godliness when you are in overwhelming thankfulness in the face of adversity. In this era, you will be given many chances to achieve spiritual godliness you will use to please your Creator. There cannot be true godliness unless you are proficient in hate. • 46. Interpretation By Susan Sontag Asif Ali Swetha Antony, Assistant Professor, DU IA Term Paper Sem II 3 APRIL 2015 Susan Sontag s View on Interpretation and its Applications and Analysis Using Bedlam Painting Number Eight Interpretation has been a phenomenon existing from the time immemorial. There has been a long tradition of interpretation, in all occupations. Interpretation of arts and literature has gone to an extent that it has taken shape of a discipline and has grown as a methodology and an art itself. Eliot even says, We might remind ourselves that criticism is as inevitable as breathing . Method of Interpretation has long been a subject of discussion among intellectual circles and it has been subject to a constant evolution ever since it came into being. Moreover, the conventional methods have always been circling around the dynamics of relationship of the signifier and the signified, a discourse upon meaning of a work of art. Sontag has proposed an objection towards the traditional methods of such kind. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 47. Technology And Its Impact On The Classroom Essay Progression, the ever enduring race of humankind to becoming better and more advanced beings, has become interwoven with technology, as nearly all aspects of one s life, whether it being at home, for leisure, at work, or in the educational sector is entwined with elements of digitality. This notion leads one to see that the participation with technologies can be an essential aspect of one s progression in this new contemporary society. The emergence and subsequent dominance of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in this digitally mediated world has led to the need for digital education in schools, which in turn can bring both potentials and challenges in divergent school settings, as digital literacies bring differing values and meanings in relation to the setting they are situated in. Transitioning from old to new literacies; digital literacyas a socially imbued construct; digital divide; ICT out of school; educators and ICT; and implementing ICT in the classroom will be discussed in order to extricate both the potentials and challenges with the immersion of digital literacies in education. • 48. Use Of The Insanity Plea In The American Justice System Forgiving someone in your heart doesn t mean that you let them loose in Virginia to pursue whatever dark agendas they may still hold dear, writes Patti Davis, whose father s would be assassin was deemed legally insane, but was later released from a mental hospital. In the American justice system, an unjust plea remains an escape for a convicted man to lessen the punishment he receives and deserves. Consider one young girl who faced up to 65 years in prison for murdering her classmate, but escaped with only three years in a mental institution. Should she get off on such a small sentence while most other people would have been behind bars for 65 years? Use of the Insanity Plea in the American justice system should be amended since it has often resulted in an unjust legal outcome that provides the accused with a convenient technicality to avoid punishment. In the modern legal system, a jury has two legal ways to define the extent that the defendant s mind was incapacitated, thus lessening his sentence: Mentally ill or legally insane. According to the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania in the case Commonwealth of Pennsylvania v. DuPont, a defendant who is mentally ill can be legally defined as, one who as a result of mental disease or defect, lacks substantial capacity either to appreciate the wrongfulness of his conduct or to conform his conduct to the requirements of the law, whereas a defendant who is legally insane can be defined as, at the time of the commission of the ...
