Mobileye Case Competition Presentation All Materials PDF_WCWyatt A. Chartrand
The document is a presentation by students analyzing the company Mobileye and its strategic path towards developing fully autonomous vehicles. It provides background on Mobileye's founding in 1999 and its growth, including becoming publicly traded in 2014. The presentation conducts internal/external analyses and recommends Mobileye partner with Tesla, retain premium pricing, and introduce a lower-cost aftermarket product. It outlines short, mid, and long-term implementation plans involving diversifying their product line, partnering with Tesla on autonomous vehicle research, and bringing a driverless car to market within 10 years through this partnership.
Mobileye provides advanced driver assistance systems using computer vision technology. It was founded in 1999 and has the largest artificial vision R&D center. Studies show their systems can prevent up to 90% of rear-end collisions by providing 1.5 seconds of early warning. Their systems include collision warning, lane departure warning, and intelligent high-beam control. Fleet operators and insurance companies have seen significant reductions in accidents and costs from using Mobileye systems. Their goal is to help reach zero collisions through continued innovation.

Autonomous vehicles: becoming economically feasible through improvements in l...Jeffrey Funk
These slides use concepts from my (Jeff Funk) course entitled analyzing hi-tech opportunities to analyze how autonomous vehicles are becoming economically feasible throug through improvements in lasers, microelectronic mechanical systems (MEMS), integrated circuits (ICs), and other components. Although the cost of the Google Car is currently about 150,000 USD, 30% annual improvements in lasers, MEMS, and ICs will make these economically feasible for a broad number of users in the next ten years. A key issue is when certain lanes, roads or even entire highway systems are restricted to automated vehicles. This would enable collision avoidance to rely more on between-vehicle communications. This would further reduce the cost of automated vehicles, stimulate diffusion, and also reduce transportation time and increase fuel efficiency.

SWF presents : VisioNext and Visioflext WipersValeo
SWF is a German company founded in 1922 that specializes in wiper blades and components. It joined the Valeo Group in 1998. SWF innovates wiper technologies, launching its first flat blade in 2000. It continues working to improve driver visibility solutions. SWF's VisioNext range provides a wide coverage of vehicles with a small number of part numbers. It features an innovative flat blade profile for silent and high-performance wiping. SWF as an original equipment supplier provides the latest wiper technologies to the aftermarket.

The document discusses a modular drive unit that allows for automatic opening and closing of trunk lids and liftgates. The drive unit can be integrated under the upper beam and directly linked to the hinges to operate the liftgate. It uses an electro-mechanical design with obstacle detection for safe opening and closing, as well as an electro-magnetic clutch with 3 positions that allows for motorized opening and stopping at any position, along with manual operation.
The document discusses a smart car key that enables long-distance communication with the vehicle. The key allows the driver to remotely check and adjust the cabin temperature, unlock the vehicle, and set predefined seat and mirror positions as they approach. It can also transfer data like navigation addresses and music files to the vehicle. The key provides information on the vehicle's status like lock/unlock status, fuel level, and tire pressure.
The document describes a driving assistance system from Valeo that uses three cameras and ultrasonic sensors to detect obstacles around a vehicle during low-speed maneuvers. The system includes two front cameras integrated into the bumper, a rear camera in the tailgate handle, and ultrasonic sensors that work with a monitoring screen to show drivers obstacles and illustrate the vehicle's trajectory to help with visibility and parking.
Flat Blade 2 is an improved windshield wiper blade from VisioBlade that is lighter, more compact, and provides optimized aerodynamics and acoustic qualities compared to Flat Blade 1. It has a synthetic rubber upper body section for longer life and a natural lip for superior wiping performance. The ultra-flat blade structure distributes uniform pressure along the windshield and adjusts to the curvature, improving driver visibility and high speed performance while reducing noise.
The e-Valve system replaces traditional camshafts and allows for individual electromagnetic actuation of each valve. This allows valves to be opened and closed independently of the crankshaft position and other valves. With individual control of each valve, some cylinders can be deactivated at low engine speeds, improving fuel efficiency. The flexible valve timing and duration also increases low-end torque and optimizes power when needed.
Valeo - Save backing out of a parking spot - even with obstructed viewValeo
Cross Traffic Alert uses radar sensors in the rear bumper to detect cross traffic when backing out of parking spaces. It monitors traffic movement and warns the driver acoustically and visually if a vehicle is approaching. The system works reliably with obstructed views using 7 radar beams and can detect vehicles up to 20 meters away, helping prevent collisions with cross traffic when backing up.
Valeo - Dual dry clutch transmissions contribute to fuel saving and increase ...Valeo
Dual dry clutch transmissions use two clutch discs and electromechanical actuators to independently engage odd and even gears, as well as reverse. This setup reduces fuel consumption and emissions by 4-6% compared to double wet clutch and automatic transmissions. Driving comfort is also increased as the dual clutch system prevents power interruption during gear changes and the electromechanical actuators adapt to clutch wear over time.
Blind Spot Detection systems use radar sensors to detect vehicles in the driver's blind spots and alert the driver with visual and audible warnings. The system calculates the position, distance, and speed of vehicles in the blind spots. When a vehicle poses a potential danger, a warning symbol appears in the rear view mirror and an audible signal sounds to alert the driver.
