occurred after the American Civil War. He wrote a piece entitled The New View of Reconstruction
which dissects the reconstruction whether the reconstruction succeed or failed. Foner wrote about
the political issues, such as the fight between President Johnson and congress, and the new
amendments that were created. And the fact that African Americans were slowly becoming more
equally, and organizations were being created to terror anyone supporting the equality of African
Americans. Throughout the reconstruction era the nation had to rebuilt itself as a unified nation,

Biier s Block Case Study
Bier`s block is simple to administer, reliable, cost effective and is ideal for short operative
procedures on the upper limb and avoids the hazards of general anesthesia in patients with severe
systemic diseases [6].
Adverse effects of Bier s block are about LA toxicity, slow onset, poor muscle relaxation, tourniquet
pain and minimal postoperative pain relief. The ideal drug for Bier`s block should have: rapid
onset, reduced dose of LA, reduced tourniquet pain and prolonged postoperative analgesia. No
currently available local anesthetic fulfills these qualities and hence we need adjuvant to LA [3].
As mentioned above IVRA occasionally does not provide effective anesthesia and postoperative
analgesia. To reduce anesthetic dose, improve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two drugs belonging to the О±2 adrenergic receptor agonist namely Clonidine and
Dexmedetomidine have been the focus of adjuvant in IVRA and recent clinical studies [12].
Gentili et al (1999) and Lurie et al (2000) both reported that addition of clonidine to IVRA increases
tourniquet tolerance significantly [13] [14].
Dexmedetomidine is a potent α2 adrenoceptor agonist with eight time s higher affinity for the
receptors than clonidine. Dexmedetomidine produces sedation, anxiolysis and analgesia.
Dexmedetomidine compared to Clonidine is a more selective О±2 adrenoceptor agonist, which
might permit its application in relatively high doses for sedation and analgesia without the
unwanted vascular effects from activation of О±1 receptors. In addition, dexmedetomidine is
shorter acting drug than clonidine and has a reversal drug for its sedative effect. These properties
make dexmedetomidine suitable for sedation and analgesia during the perioperative period: as
premedication, as an anesthetic adjunct for general and regional anesthesia, and as postoperative
sedative and analgesic [7].
Memis and colleagues (2004) investigated the effects of adding dexmedetomidine (0.5Вµg/kg) to
40 ml 0.5% lignocaine during Bier`s block.

Hypnotism Research Paper
There are a lot of people who want to no more about hypnosis for anxiety. Hypnotism is a process
whereby you control the brain of another individual. The human brain is basically made up of
two parts. There is the conscious part and the subconscious part. The conscious part is the one that
we are able to control ourselves. As a result it is very difficult for someone else to gain control
over the conscious part of the brain.
As for the unconscious part of the brain, it is the part that is vulnerable. This is because we cannot
control the unconscious part of our brains. Therefore someone else can gain total control over that
part of your brain. Anxiety and anxiety related conditions account for a huge percentage of
complaints to psychiatrists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is estimated that more women suffer from this condition than men. The first stage of hypnosis is
evaluating the anxiety condition. This is done by a hypnotherapist. In this initial stage, the therapist
will be trying to find out the source of the condition. It could be that there is a medical,
physiological or even somatic basis for the existence of the ailment.
There are medical conditions that have this disorder as a side effect. The list includes hypertension,
anemia and hypoglycemia to mention a few. The therapist will also consider whether the condition
is part of some other psychiatric syndrome. This is because the ailment generally merges into most
psychiatric syndromes such as depression.
In such cases the treatment of this condition focuses on the correction of the entire psychiatric
syndrome. There are other more functional causes of this condition. A person can have
generalized anxiety disorder. This is where you experience chronic feelings of fear. There are also
panic disorders and with this type a person has discreet episodes of panic.
There is another type known as mixed syndromes. This ailment can also manifest itself through
other conditions such as phobias, post traumatic stress disorders and obsessive compulsive
disorders. With regards to hypnosis as a treatment of this ailment, there is what is known as

Analysis Of Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar
Literature often illustrates the mundane is such a manner that the imagination of the common
reader is spurred into a world of emotions that previously remained untapped or dormant. To elicit
such a response requires the ability of a powerful writer that often in tandem achieves notoriety
that transcends generations; for example, Sylvia Plath left a significant impression on the world,
especially that of writing, despite her early passing at the age of thirty. It can be seen that the
work of Sylvia Plath is often idolized due to the broad and relatable nature of the subject matter
that is emotional strife; this work, then, is of great value to society and the world of literature as it
teaches those reading that emotion is not something sparse, but wholehearted and running through
the veins of every individual. Plath is most well known for her work that was heavily influenced
by her ongoing mental illness, clinical depression. The vast majority of her poems, if not all,
covered the subject of her emotional struggles she faced throughout her life. This can be seen
within her novel The Bell Jar, which is her most admired and studied publication (as well as
required in most curriculums across the United States). Notably, The Bell Jar was published less
than a month before her suicide in the beginning of 1963. The raw nature of her writing is what
drew a wide spectrum of people in, for all people have emotions, but she was one of the few that
dared to publicize thoughts that

Females Mental Rotation Study
Background
One theory developed by psychologists working within the biological approach is the idea that
males have better spatial ability than females. Spatial ability is the ability to mentally manipulate 2
dimensional and 3 dimensional figures. One way in which spatial ability can be operationalised is
in the form of mental rotation test. A mental rotation test requires participants to identify rotated
versions of a target stimulus. Mental rotation usually takes place in the right cerebral hemisphere,
in the areas where perception also occurs. Mental rotation can be separated into the following
cognitive stages (Johnson 1990): 1) Create a mental image of an object 2) Rotate the object
mentally until a comparison can be made 3) Make the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Controls in this experiment included ensuring that all participants undertook the task in silence.
All participants took the test in the same school computer lab and at the same time of day
(Between 1:00 and 2:00pm). All participants were of a similar age and all participants did exactly
the same task. Participants were seated a desk apart so they could not copy each others answers.
Design
As there are two groups of different participants, one male and one female, to compare times
between groups the research design is an independent groups each participants is only in one group
(condition).
Procedure
A pilot study was conducted with 5 students not taking part in the study. This enabled the
researchers to check the timings involved in administering the mental rotation test and also to check
that everything ran smoothly. The study also enabled the researchers to perfect the wording of the
standardised instructions.
For the main study 10 male participants sat at separate desks in the computer room with the mental
rotation programme loaded. Participants read and signed a consent form. The experimenter then
read from a standardised set of instructions explaining the procedure and giving permission for
participants to begin the 10 mental rotation trails when they were ready. Sitting next to each
participant was a research assistant on hand to time the task. In their own time participants began
the task matching a 2D object with one of six

Essay on Privacy Concerns With Electronic Medical Records
Prior to the Information Age, medical records were all stored in folders in secure filing cabinets at
doctor s offices, hospitals, or health departments. The information within the folders was
confidential, and shared solely amongst the patient and physician. Today these files are fragmented
across multiple treatment sites due to the branching out of specialty centers such as urgent care
centers, magnetic resonance imaging, outpatient surgical centers, and other diagnostic centers.
Today s ability to store medical records electronically has made it possible to easily send these
files from one location to another. However, the same technology which can unify the fragmented

Mental Illnesses Research Paper
Introduction Many people around the world struggle with mental illnesses, like depression and
anxiety. With these mental illnesses, comes a stigma. A stigma is the extreme disapproval of a
person on socially characteristic grounds that are perceived, and serve to distinguish them, from
other members of a society. Those with these disabilities are usually frowned upon, because of
their differences; people with mental illnesses are also often perceived as dangerous and insane by
society. Although there is a few who are dangerous, most of them are not, and they are no different
than the rest of us. This stigma affects not only the patient s emotion, but also makes being able to

Mental illness is a subject slightly touched on in health classes, otherwise, it does not come up
often. Therefore, the average human does not have much knowledge on mental illnesses and how
they affect the patient s life. Doing this would lessen society s fear of those with mental illnesses
and therefore, lessen the stigma. Another solution would be to be more compassionate and caring
towards those with mental illnesses. These people are already struggling a lot, and could use the
love and respect they deserve. Also, getting those struggling professional help can lessen the
chances of those with mental illnesses from committing the crimes everyone fears they will do. If
more people tried to be caring towards these people, they would realize that those with mental

Walmart s Impact On The Canadian Retail Sector
Walmart has had a huge impact on the Canadian retail sector. Walmart first entered Canada in
1994 when it purchased 122 stores from the struggling Woolco chain. Over a decade later, six
major retail chains have disappeared in Canada due to fierce competition from Walmart. Walmart
has such a major influence on the retail sector that their move to open superstores with massive
floor spaces promoted Canadian retail giant, Canadian Tire to experiment with fresh and frozen
products in a couple of its stores. By 2006, Walmart dominated 50% of the market in Canada for
general merchandising and became Canada s largest non food retailer with about 13$ million in
sales annually. Thanks in part to Walmart, today retail dominated supply chains lead the

American Technological Advancements
The United States has utilized innovations and technological advancements to solidify its position
as a global superpower. One of the greatest accomplishments the United States can claim is to have
put a man on the moon in 1969. In describing the impact of the moon landing, historian Arthur M.
Schlesinger Jr. notes, The one thing for which this century will be remembered 500 years from
now was: This was the century when we began the exploration of space (Launius, 2006). In the 47
years since the moonlanding, no other nation has been able to land on the moon marking this as a
lasting legacy to American perseverance in the exploration of space. The completion of the
Panama Canal in 1914 also showcased American resolve and engineering superiority. Providing

James A. Garfield was murdered within months of the beginning of his election. He serves a

The Prevailing Issues For And Against Legalization Of...
What are the prevailing issues for and against legalization of marijuana? Just because something
is labelled as illegal does not mean it is bad. Likewise, when something is labelled as legal does
not mean it is not bad. Throughout the progression of time, the Western outlook on Marijuana
has changed drastically. A few decades ago, the idea of smoking Marijuana was perceived as a
menace to the public and the discussion of legalizing Marijuana was greatly frowned upon.
Particularly during the early 1970 s when President Nixon proposed the war on drugs policy, where
he proclaimed, The public enemy number one in the United States is drug abuse (Sharp, 1994, p.1).
Despite the war on drugs policy, several decades later, America began legalizing the recreational use
of Marijuana in four different States including; Alaska, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington.
Similarly, with the United States impact, Canada is in the midst of legalizing Marijuana with the
new Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau in power. Throughout Canadian history, the United States has
greatly influenced Canada s policies and regulations. For instance, the issues of Doctor assisted
suicide and Abortion were first legalized in the United States and not too long after, Canada
followed. In spite of the U.S influence, the discussion of Marijuana is a very prominent and

Prejudice In John Carreon s A Class Divided
Juan Carreon
A Class Divided
This documentary was about how it feels to be discriminated upon and how it can be influenced
in small children easily. Discrimination creates a barrier in the mind. For this reason, the barriers
created by the prejudice are hard to overcome. In light to this, Elliott segregates her class according
to eye color whereby brown eyes are perceived to be superior to the blue eyed people. On the
first day, the brown eyed pupils were provided with privileges (A Class Divided). They were
allowed to have help at lunch, extra time at recess and a sense of self worth above the blue eyed
students. However, on the On the following day (not next) the situation is reversed and the blue
eyed pupils are indulged with privilege which results to making brown eyed pupils feel less
special compared with their peers. Elliott takes the opportunity to observe her class turning into a
microcosm of society. Surprisingly, every time the experiment was carried out, the preferred group
quickly turned the tables and embraced elite status. This implies that the two groups readily
adopted the propaganda that Elliott sprouted on them (A Class Divided). The two created groups
readily adopted their roles to perfection.
I particularly agree with Elliot that racism is propaganda built on the people s mind that may not be
easy to overcome. A keen observation of the experiment shows that both parties assumed their roles
once they were empowered to operate. In real life situation, the wealthy and the have not are
improvised environments. The environment is either improvised by the politicians, economists,
capitalists or psychologists. A typical example is the African American relationship that has
existed for many years. However, no single relationship exists between the skin color and a person
capability to carry out an exercise. In the last American presidential election, President Barrack
Obama managed to gain the presidency despite being of African American. More so, the first
renowned neurosurgeon across the globe is Ben Carson. These individuals, in particular are enough
evidence to disapprove the Elliott idea of discrimination (A Class Divided). They are perfect

Blue Collar Brilliance And The Busy Carter Analysis
Work and leisure, these are two integral parts of human life, however there is much debate about
which of them is more important as well as what the proper balance between them should be.
Those such as Mike Rose and Nicholas Carr, in their articles Blue Collar Brilliance and World
and Screen respectively, emphasis how the benefits of working, physically as well as mentally,
are often forgotten. On the other side, however, Tim Freider in his work The Busy Trap
contends that leisure is just as neglected in our fast paced world. Despite these seemingly
different statements, these works share quite a lot on when looks just below the surface. In
Blue Collar Brilliance Mike Rose describes his appreciation for the often unnoticed intelligence
that many blue collar workers posses as well as the positive impact that physical work can have
on the lives of those taking part in it. Nothing he says encapsulates this more than his description
of his uncle Joe working on a car assembly line, For Joe the shop floor provided what school did
not; it was like schooling, he said, a place where you re constantly learning. Joe Joe learned the
most efficient way to use his body with a set of routines that were quick and preserved energy.

Behavioral Enrichment And Monitoring For Animal Welfare
Behavioral Enrichment and Monitoring as Means to Improve Animal Welfare
Although keepers have provided forms of enrichment to zoo animals for years, interest in
scientifically raising captive animals standard of living has grown (Ben Ari, 2001). Behavioral
engineering, also known as behavioral, animal, or environmental enrichment, is a type of husbandry
technique used to better the physiological and psychological states of animals, conserve species by
raising the rate of reproduction, diversify suitable behaviors, reduce stress and predatory and
aggressive acts, increase learning ability, and/or provide animals with exercise, entertainment, or
some sense of control in their environment (Ben Ari, 2001). Enrichment can take many forms, such
as the addition of novelty objects to an animal s environment, renovating exhibits, and training (Ben
Ari, 2001). However, Ben Ari (2001) details the emergence of a standardized scientific methodof
enrichment, in which enrichment strategies are planned, executed, observed, documented, assessed,
and then modified. Nevertheless, intensive studies are not feasible for all zoos (Ben Ari, 2001).
For example, only 2 percent of enrichment at Disney s Animal Kingdom is evaluated through 12
weeklong projects (Ben Ari, 2001). Although not widespread yet, these types of strategies take
animals mental states and behaviors exhibited in the wild into account (Ben Ari, 2001). Because
biologists have not documented every species wild behavior,

Emily Dickinson s A Certain Slant of Light Analysis Essay
1
Emily Dickinson s There s a certain Slant of light
In her poem, There s a certain Slant of light, Emily Dickinson uses metaphors and imagery to
convey the feeling of solemnity and despair at winter s twilight. The slanted light that she sees,
is a metaphor for her battle with depression. Anyone who is familiar with Dickinson s
background will have a better understanding of what she is trying to say in this poem. Dickinson
was known as a recluse and spent most of her life isolated from the outside world. The few people
that she did come in contact with over the years are said to have had a major impact on her poetry.
Although, her main muse of her work seems to be despair and internal conflict. ... Show more

If we re feeling down, like the speaker of this poem, we see the world as how we feel inside;
things look unpleasant, and grey and dismal. We re unable to see a ray of hope that is coming
through the window in the form of sunshine. In the fourth stanza, when death, or it as the
speaker calls it, comes everything listens. When someone dies, those still on this earth
sometimes experience stillness in nature, as if the world is on hold and listening to us. In
Dickinson s poem the stillness comes from the slant of light, and the landscape and shadows
listen and figuratively hold their breath. The landscape and shadows are personified in this
stanza. The capitalization of Landscape and Shadows gives the impression that the speaker is
referring to someone she knows. The mood here changes quite a bit compared to the first three
stanzas of this poem. You get a sense of anticipation instead of despair, and the oppression that
the speaker has felt has lifted and now she s feeling light and maybe some what alluring. In the

Bilbo Baggins as a Hero
Bilbo Baggins as a Hero
What is this character we call a hero ? A hero is being of abundant power, defiance, and intrepidity
that conquer evil despite of impregnable obstacle to rescue the breath of inculpable lives that
cannot defend for themselves. However, hero gives an exclusively altered significance in J.R.R
Tolkien s fictional tale The Hobbit, as our hero is a selfish, lazy hobbit named Bilbo Baggins.
Conflicting to our meaning of a hero, Mr. Baggins life and stability isn t evaluated aside the
authority of his weapon, or the expanse of enemies he has overcome. Instead, his capability and
bravery is built on his hidden sneaks, courage and bravery, and his trustworthiness to his
acquaintances.
Mr. Baggins hidden sneaks and quick thinking is one of his qualities in his transformation.
Arranged in the story, Bilbo challenges a creepy, glutinous being called Gollum whose purpose
was to demolish him. In intention to carry out time, Bilbo played a riddle game with the creature,
approving if Bilbo held the victory, Gollum will companion him outside. Nonetheless, if Gollum
held the victory, Bilbo s significance is enclosed as Gollum s next meal. After discontinuous
uncountable riddles, its Bilbo s saying that dominated. Challenging What have I got in my pockets?

encounter with Gollum is his hostility with Smaug. Unexpected to Bilbo s agreement with Gollum

Social Issues In The Walking Dead By Richard Kirkman
In the graphic novel, The Walking Dead by Richard Kirkman (writer), Tony Moore (art) and Cliff
Rathburn (gray tones) introduce us to see how it is to survive in the zombie apocalypse, where the
main story is not about the zombies themselves but the survivors. This is where a neighbor may
turn into a walker (slang of zombies, and infected) and probably they should consider murdering
him or her with an unsharpened object. This blunt object, the horrendous zombies, and the
expressions of the characters are well represented by Tony Moore through the art in this book.
Kirkman shows us that there are social issues between the survivors. Through his story, Kirkman
tells us that in a post apocalyptic world, there is no administration, there is no law implementation,
money has no value, there is no 911 to call and there is no characterized social structure. The only
they have is family members, friends, and strangers.
The social issues that take place revolve around Rick understanding that his wife Laurie has been
unfaithful. Shane is Rick s best friend and Laurie has reservations about the relations continuing. In
fact, Laurie has stated that the night with Shane was a mistake. Shane becomes aggressive with
Rick regarding an argument that resulted in Shane telling Rick to shut up about everything. When
everything has come to a head with all the friends and the zombies kill Amy, the friends grieve at
her funeral. Jim says at her funeral, that no one deserves this kind

Persuasive Essay On Knicks
Since the beginning of time, people have played sports. Unfortunately, some people can t play,
but they love to pay and watch others play instead. NBA games are by far the most interesting
professional sports event to attend. It s amazing to see the gigantic men in real life instead of on
your television screen. You make amazing memories with the people you go with because the
games are extremely fun. All you need for a great NBA game is a skillful team, lively fans, and
some delicious, reasonably priced food. Is that too hard to ask for? Apparently, for some teams,
it is. Let s face it, if your home team is terrible, like the Knicks and the Nets are, you go to the
games just to see the hyped up teams and get cheaper tickets closer to the court. This season, the
Knicks are in fifth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 12 wins and nine losses, which is
much better than last year s record. It isn t worth seeing a game there if you have already been to
one because the only thing they are consistent at is choking in the fourth quarter. When the
players on the Knicks and the Nets make millions of dollars, you would think they can make a

Discipleship Research Paper
Introduction Making disciples is the all encompassing purpose of the church. Many churches do a
tremendous amount of work toward the goal of making disciples, but sometimes it is in an
unhealthy manner. Just as a healthy person is going to have the most positive productivity in life,
a healthy church will also have the most constructive output of discipleship. In this paper, I will
explain how a healthy church is the goal for discipleship. In addition, I will examine my personal
church context and identify the top three areas that I need to focus on to create a healthier body of
Christ. Finally, I will discuss some initials steps that can be made to improve its spiritual health.
The Goal The apostle Paul refers to the church as the body of Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:12 says,
For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being
many, are one body: so also is Christ. The church is one body and all who are baptized are one in
Christ. Just as a body can and should be healthy, a church body can and should be healthy as
well. Putman et al. says that a healthy church looks and acts like a healthy body. While studying
to be a registered nurse years ago, I had the opportunity to dive deep into study of the systems of
the body. The body is tremendously complex and each system works with one another to make the
body function as a whole. If one part of the body is suffering, many times it negatively impacts
other parts of the body.

Throughout human history, our ancestors lived out the Christian faith in their generation. As a
result, the faith passed down into their children s generations, continuously reaching today s
generation. Then, our society changed from a primitive society to a modern society. With the
invention of technology, it creates a new direction towards spreading the Gospel. While our
ancestors spoke and wrote Gospel in church, my generation use technology to share the Gospel on
social media and Bible apps. With the different styles of preaching the Gospel, how can we unite

In The Book Thief, Markus Zusak uses his characters to demonstrate the theme that there is both
beauty and brutality in human nature. The characters that are examples of the novel are Rosa
Huberman, Hans Huberman and Max Vandenberg. Rosa exemplifies the theme through her
language and her tolerance. Hans exemplifies the theme through his interactions with Liesel. Max
shows both characteristics through the novel. Rosa, Hans and Max are prime example of how
human nature can have both beauty and brutality. Firstly, Rosa Huberman is an example of the
beauty and brutality in human nature through her beating Liesel, the language she use, and her
tolerance of Max. Rosa beats Liesel for the smallest offenses. When Rosa lost some of her laundry

Holden Caulfield Explicit Language
The story of Holden Caulfield, from the book Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, starts from
from the point of view of Holden; where he is being treated for a nervous breakdown after being
kicked out of Pencey Prep. for the death of his little brother Allie. While the book does have
multiple instances of explicit language and suggestive themes, we think that the book is
appropriate to be used in the 10th grade English curriculum. While it does have foul language and
suggestive themes, kids in modern day High School have access to much more explicit and
suggestive content. Also, even if it was written around the 1950s, both the difficulty and the
timeliness is still relatively easy to understand and relate to. While there are numerous examples of
swearing throughout the entire book; we think that the book is actually appropriate for the 10th
grade curriculum. First, kids these days have access to much more explicit media with much more
suggestive themes. Two, kids are much more influenced by mass media than a few years ago.

The Pros And Cons Of Supportive Reasoning
supportive reasoning. Consider a unique scenario where fa , ga , hb, and Ib subjects are the stock
of belief and thereby the belief of a=b aspect is assumed, as soon as one accepts the identity he/she
automatically owes a justification to his/her supportive reasoning in relation to the contextual basis,
the three variables are basically related and mutually interlinked. Frege does assume that, depending
on the preposition expressed, the a=a expressionis considered a priori while the second clause
expression a=b is a posteriori. The aspect behind this is that the formulation of the expression is
often considered by many as a petition principal to favor the perception that the sentences
respectively express different propositions. It is possible to formulate and state Frege s puzzle in a
better way without necessarily committing on either positive or negative side of the question or
context, besides the formulation, the understanding of the puzzle doesn t necessarily involve two
singular terms a and b, (Eros Jerome 2). In addition, the identity a=b can be contrasted into two uses
to derive both informative and uninformative sentences, and the number of singular terms used
doesn t matter. Lastly, being distinctive in the relevant notations of the original Frege s puzzle is
likewise important: cognitive value, from the typical puzzle, a=b is informatively expressed
contrary to a=a , cognitive content which is the part of information associated with the sentence
subject, information content which is what an individual learns and perceive the case by simply
understanding and thereafter accepting, in other words, it is the state which approves a sentence to
be true and lastly semantic content which implies the entire meaning decoded from the sentence
and the individual strictly respond to what the sentences basically expresses.
Solution to Frege s puzzle Incorporation of a metalinguistic approach which is related to Milian
view. This method is based on identity statements for instance Hesperus is Phosphorus are
utterances that are related to language rather than the identity per the see. Although the expressed
statement might lack knowledge aspect, the acquired knowledge could be

Should Victorian High Schools Repeal Vce Exams
Should Victorian High Schools Repeal VCE Exams
I m sure every student here today would agree that not having to take VCE exams is a pretty good
idea. Repealing VCE exams would be a radical change for any high school. Acknowledgement from
your teacher that you already know the material instead of proving that you know how to take a test.
High school students face a stressful and strenuous time and are challenged by the vigorous
preparation for VCE exams. The do or die VCE exams students face is a crisis time for them,
instead of thinking about their graduation. Expecting students to take these exams is unfair due to
its numerous reasons of unfairness and should not take place. The Victorian school board should
repeal these exams.
Students do not learn in the same way, they are individuals. Thankfully for society, students bring to
schools all kinds of intellect. Some students excel academically, others are artistic talents and others
have vocational talents that VCE exams do not take into consideration or measure.
The focus of my arguments for repealing VCE exams is that:
Necessary funding for schools consistently rears its ugly head and these exams prove to be very
expensive. I believe, very much a waste of money. The money could be better spent on school
materials like books, computers, and other necessary supplies. The allocated funding could also be
well spent on hiring more teachers, so that classes could be smaller and students receive more

The cost of a vacation to EuroDisney Paris compared to Disney World in Orlando Florida was
astonishing. I see this factor being foreseeable for this reason. Before a company goes abroad
they must complete an extensive research project on the history, culture, and economics of the
specific region in which they are going to operate. The people in charge of the economics of
Europe obviously did not calculate the amount of money a family was going to need in order to
visit EuroDisney. It is mind boggling that this mistake was not intercepted before the launch.
This factor was also controllable for EuroDisney and the explanation following will explain how.
This crucial mistake may have cost them millions of dollars in revenue and millions of visitors
from all over the world. Instead of attracting people to the new start up attraction, the people
opted to travel to the United States and visit Disney World for a fraction of the price. They should
have priced EuroDisney similar to Disney World in Florida, and the problem may have been
alleviated somewhat. The prices should have been thought out more carefully and compared to
other amusement parks in Europe. If that was done from the beginning, then EuroDisney may have
been a success in its first year. The problem that arose in which the French culture did not like
American fairy tale characters was foreseeable and controllable. The

TECHNOLOGY IN THE FIFTIES (1950 1959) The 1950s or The Fifties was a decade that was
full of events that gave new ideas and inventions. The decade was prosperous for the American

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Research Paper
Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is an extremely rare, deleterious disease caused by a
type of viral pathogen called a coronavirus. The disease first appeared among residents of
southern China, near Hong Kong, in 2002. Over the course of eight months, the disease spread
to up to 8,000 individuals, 10% of which died. As a contagious viral pandemic, SARS diffused
to nearly 30 countries by 2003, including Germany, Canada, and the United States. However, by
2004, all cases of SARS disappeared and have not reappeared anywhere since then. After
considerable research, scientists discovered that the infection was caused by a single stranded

Biochemistry Competence 208.5.1: DNA,RNA
DNA replication is an intricate process that requires many different proteins. Each protein
preforms a very specific function in the creation of a new DNA strand. First helicase works by
unwinding or dividing the original double helix into single stands. The point where the DNA is
separated by the helicase is known as the replication fork. Single strand binding proteins attach to
the newly made single strand of DNA to prevent re annealing. Next is the addition of an RNA ...

First adenosine monophosphate (AMP), a covalent enzyme, must be formed and linked to a lysine
enzyme. Next AMP will transfer to the 5 phosphate end of the missing section between the
Okazaki fragments. Last OH will help remove the AMP sealing the phosphate backbone together
producing a continuous DNA strand ( DNA Ligase, n.d.). A visual representation of ligase joining
two Okazaki fragments can be viewed in Figure 2.
Transcription is the formation of an RNA strand from a DNA template within the nucleus of a
cell. There are four nucleotides of DNA. These are adenine, cytosine, guanine and thymine.
These nucleotides are transcribed to form messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) consisting of
nucleotides made of adenine, cytosine, guanine and uracil. This transcription from DNA to
mRNA happens by an RNA polymerase II. This newly created mRNA is read in the 5 to 3
direction in sets of 3. These sets are called codons. Each mRNA also has a cap and end. On the 5
prime side is a methylated guanine triphosphate and on the 3 prime is a poly A tail. Messenger
RNA then moves to the cells cytoplasm and through the cells ribosomes for translation. Messenger
RNA is matched to molecules of transfer RNA (tRNA) in the ribosomes to create amino acids.
These amino acids subsequently form an amino acid chain. (Osuri, 2003) A visual representation of
this can been viewed in figure 3.
As was just learned, RNA polymerase II is what transcribes DNA.

They feel their story is not just for an industry audience, but for everyone; government officials,
labor leaders, industry executives and general readers, in every country with an interest in how
society goes about making things. The best way to describe lean production is to contrast it to
its predecessors: craft production and mass production. Craft production uses highly skilled
workers and simple but flexible tools to make exactly what the consumer asks for, one item at a
time. The result is that consumers get exactly what they want but at a prohibitively high cost.
Mass production uses narrowly skilled professionals to design products made by unskilled or
semiskilled workers tending expensive, single purpose machines. The machines produce
standardized products in very high volume. Due to the high cost of disruption of the process, the
mass producer adds many buffers extra supplies, workers and space to assure smooth production.
Also due to high cost of changing over to a new product, the mass producer keeps standard
designs in production as long as possible. The result is the consumer gets lower costs but at the
expense of variety, and workers tend to find their part of the process boring. Lean production, by
contrast, uses teams of multiskilled workers at all levels of the organization, and uses highly
flexible, increasingly automated machines to produce large volumes of products in enormous
variety. The term

The Eight Heroes in The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan
In the novel The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan, four Chinese mother daughter pairs, each with her
own unique story, have deep connections with each other. At the beginning of the novel they each
seem like ordinary women, but as the novel progresses, it becomes clear that these women are
more than just mothers, daughters, or wives; they can also be considered heroes according to
Joseph Campbell. Joseph Campbell says a herois someone who undergoes a departure, where the
person is confronted with a problem that they must overcome; a fulfillment, where the person
finally overcomes the problem; and a return, where the person passes on what they gain and learn
from the experiences in the form of a life giving elixir (Campbell). This life giving... Show more

Fertility Drugs Essay
Fertility Drugs
Most men and women are raised thinking that eventually they will marry and have children. What
happens when a couple gets married and wants to have a child and finds out that after several
times of having unprotected sex there is no pregnancy? The finger is usually pointed at the woman
but in some cases it can be due to the man. In a woman s case, the problem is usually that she is
not ovulating normally and in a man s case he might have low sperm count. These are the problems
that are most heard of but there are other factors that can cause infertility. An anxious couple
quickly turns to science to try and find a solution to their problem. Although taking fertility drugs is
the solution , it can be quite strenuous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is said that women are usually the ones that suffer the most when dealing with infertility. For
some women, motherhood is a large part of their image of themselves as females. Men tend not to
be pressured the same way to become fathers. Most men are able to deal with this matter better
because they are brought up to repress their feelings. (www.babycenter.com) If it is known that the
fertility problem is his then a man s image of himself will begin to suffer. Infertile couples end up on
an emotional roller coaster because they begin to live their life in month to month cycles of hope
and disappointment that revolve around ovulation calendars and menstruation.
(www.babycenter.com) They also begin to deal with financial issues because the treatment is
expensive and requires holding off on extra expenses in order to save money.
What are the causes of infertility? All of the cause that will be named were taken from the Major
Causes of Infertility Chart from www.babycenter.com . In the following I will only mention the
condition and the definition but they also provide symptom and solution information. Women:
Condition: Endometriosis This condition, in which endometrial tissue (the uterine lining that sheds
with each monthly period) grows outside the uterus. Condition: Ovulation problems Any condition
(usually hormonal) that prevents the release of a mature

Lindbergh Case Study
The Lindbergh Case was one in which the whole world seemed to be following in 1932. Charles
Jr. was so easily swept away from his room and family in the middle of the night with little clues
to tell what and how it happened. This meant the involvement of the Criminal Justice System was
needed to try and find out who had taken their baby. These components include the Police, Court,
and eventually Corrections. Starting with the Police, or the detectives on the scene of the
abduction. For this particular incident there was involvement with New Jersey Police, New York
Police, and the F.B.I which at times caused some confusion. The detectives on the scene found
little evidence initially, this included a Ransom note and a broken ladder with some footprints
outside the house. Once reading the ransom note they found that it was written in a very childish
tone and a lot was misspelled. The Lindbergh family received many other Ransom notes in time
and found out that it was clear the abductor had planned this for a long time. Detectives working
the case also had to look into all possible suspects in the kidnapping, It started with the family
members themselves in which they had to take in all aspects, including Anne Lindbergh s sister
Elizabeth who was seen as physically and mentally ill. Next the three staff members of the estate
were looked into with great detail, including Betty Gow who was the last to see Charles Jr. In his
room, because of this her boyfriend was looked into

The Great Tribulation In The Crucible By Arthur Miller
The tony award winning play The Crucible is a play written by Arthur Miller. The Crucible came to
be in the 1950s, a time where the fear of Communists in the country was rampant and creating
unnecessary chaos through the United States. The hysteria reminded Miller of the Salem Witch
Trials, the setting of the Crucible, where the paranoia of witches among the Puritans sent the town
into a hurricane of chaos, leading to multiple catastrophic and unnecessary deaths. The perfect
storm of brewing conditions launched one of the most foolish, traumatizing events in American
history. With the conditions seen today, another one of these witch hunts is possible in our modern
day time period. In fact, the Bible foretells of one to happen very soon, described as the Great
Tribulation. Similar to the SalemWitch Trials, the Bible foretells of a time when unstable
conditions would abound, a certain group of people would face persecuted, and people will have to
confront a moral dilemma similar to the one presented in the Crucible.
One could be asking the question, What is the Great Tribulation? The Great Tribulation is a
period of time foretold in the Bible. According to JW.org, the Great Tribulation is the end of the
system of things we live in today. How long it will last is unknown, but it will be very severe and
something unlike any event that s happened today, as seen in Matthew 24:21. To emphasize the
severity of the event, the article describes its seriousness by looking at

Barn Owl Research Paper
Birds have fascinated people for years. Whether it s their striking color, lovely songs, care for
their young, or ( most often ) their ability to fly. Not all birds however fall into each one of these
catergories. One species, for example, are the owls. Owls are not the brightest color and don t
have as lovely songs as a canary. They are different from many birds including other birds of
prey. To look at all these wonderful owls would take more than a few pages so we will look at
one, the Barn Owl. What is a barn owl? That is a simple question with a long answer. The story
of the barn owl has changed throughout the years. It is best to start in the beginning. In the very
beginning God created all living things including the barn owl. The first recorded time humans
interacted with these birds was in ancient times. During this time people thought owls in general
were spirits who had magical powers. These people either worshipped owls or feared them
varying on their beliefs. Ancient Europeans and Native Americans from Tennessee used to draw
them on cave walls. Now the barn owl s name makes sense. It is obviously an owl that lives in
barns. What is an owl though? It is an awfully peculiar word. This strange word comes from the
Old English word ule. This word might be even more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They don t need speed though because their prey can t hear them coming. They can fly without
making a sound. Barn owls have soft fringes on the leading edges of their wing feathers.
Scientists believe this causes silent flight. Their bones arre very light. This is great for the barn
owl because when it flys it doesn t have a lot of weight to carry around. The barn owl only weighs
just below or above a pound. Their bones are of air pockets and crossbraced with solid shafts to
make them strong. Their are bigger than their body so they can carry both bird and prey together.

South Africa a Development and Economic Overview
South Africa
A Development and Economic Overview
Introduction I chose South Africa as the topic for this research paper. I have always wanted to visit
South Africa but have never had the opportunity to travel there. My involvement in international
development has given me an interest in this country, as it has many ties to the developing world
and the history of developing countries through colonialism. South Africa is influenced by all levels
of economic activity including the primary, secondary, tertiary, quaternary and quinary sectors
which determine if South Africa s commercial economy. These economic levels, along with the
indicators of development, show whether or not South Africa is a developed nation and if so, how ...

The city of Cape Town remains today a city of commercial trade, as trade is conducted through
the port in Cape Town to other countries around the world (Economy, 2011). Although many
people in South Africa still rely on subsistence agriculture to live, the majority of the South
African economy is commercial. They have a plentiful supply of natural resources, which enable
them to process those resources and trade them with the rest of the world in the free trade market
(South Africa, 2011). In 1948, South Africa faced many problems as a policy of apartheid was
implemented by the elected National Party (South Africa, 2011). This meant that there was a
separate development of the African Americans and Caucasians, which favored the Caucasian
minority (Comaroff, 1997). The apartheid caused many economic problems such as poverty, a
lack of public transportation and a lack of economic empowerment among the disadvantaged
groups (South Africa, 2011). South Africa s economy also suffered major blows in 2007, when
there was an electricity crisis, and in 2009, from the global financial crisis. During this time South
African GDP dropped 2 % (South Africa, 2011). This being said, the South African stock exchange
remains strong and is now the 18th largest in the world (South Africa, 2011).

Should Bartenders Be Held Responsible For Their Positions
What is a bartender? Merriam Webster states it s a person who mixes and serves alcoholic drinks
at a bar. Nowhere in the definition does it say, Attend to behavior , or, Watch for drunken
disorder. Bartenders are those that fill orders of patrons at a bar itself or are given a beverage order
by a waiter or a waitress that he or she will pick up and serve to the patron. (Benson, Beth). Being
a bartender takes patience, and a great deal of responsibility. A job is a job no matter what the
job is. If he or she is hired for a position, he or she is obligated to do what is required of the
position. Bartenders should not be held responsible for the behavior of their patrons. Despite the
fact that patron s feel that bartenders are there... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many cases, when a bartender refuses to serve a patron who is under the influence, it
becomes a problem and they get offended. (Killgannon, Corey). Patrons start to become irate,
and not aware of their behavior. In most states, bartenders are required by law to cut you off if
you ve had too much to drink....you re having trouble walking, talking or even just sitting there.
(Bailey, Kristen). In addition to bartenders not being compensated to babysit adults, but rather
bartend, patrons should be aware of his or her drinking limits. A countless number of people
may blame their drunken state on the bartender who shoved drinks down their throats, however,
that does not happen. Bartenders do not force drinks on people, only provide what is asked.
Some may order drinks one by one; on the other hand, one may order drinks all at one time. It is
a case by case basis if the bartender will provide a patron with more than one drink at a time.
Your body puts out serious and obvious warning signs after that amount of alcohol has been
consumed, such as passing out and vomiting. (Wagner, Tom). Many bartenders assume orders
placed for more than one drink are for the patron s party and not for that patron alone. Bartenders
will not guess how much alcohol a patron has already had when they go to the bar. Majority of
bartenders will server his customer as if he has not had anything to drink, besides what he has put

Be Careful Going Home, The Roads Are Slippy Essay
Be careful going home. The roads are slippy. That phrase makes me cringe. Western
Pennsylvanians are known for their interesting colloquialisms and I can t stand most of them.
Colloquialisms are words or phrases that aren t formal or even literary and are spoken in common
conversation, according to Oxford Dictionaries. The correct wordis slippery and not this strange
word pronounced slippy. Other ones like yinz, dippy egg, pop, gob, red up, hoagie, and buggy are
common words around here and I believe it makes the people saying them sound like hicks. I ve
grown up in this area, surrounded by these words, yet I feel each one is worse than the next. This
wasn t always the case though. When I was younger, my family said a few of the colloquialisms
from this area since they ve lived here their whole lives. My mother was from Latrobe and my
father was from Johnstown. We lived in a small, extremely rural area between Johnstown and
Altoona where you could always smell natural fertilizer and you lived a fair distance from your
neighbors. So, by the time I entered school, I had heard a few of them like gob, dippy egg, and
sweeper. School was where I learned more phrases and started using them. I would say buggy
instead of shopping cart, crick instead of creek, and even slippy that I now loathe. During my
freshman year of high school, the drama club went on a trip to New York City and everyone there
could tell exactly where we were from. This made me rethink what I was saying and

Marketing Activities, Tools And Strategies
Founded less than 2 years ago with a small band of 30 exceptionally talented young people, the
Never Settle motto of the Chinese startup company called Oneplus popped into the headlines of
tech magazines by creating an amazing flagship killer handset dubbed Oneplus One. Few even
heard of its name back then and now, you will find long queues like that of Apple and Samsung,
such that it had to create an invite system, amping up the demand and a whole new secondary
market of reselling invites. How did it manage to sell over 1 million sets in just 18 months, with a
gross revenue of $300 million (as of 2014) and serving over 35 countries including whole of
Europe with almost no marketingbudget? The powerhouse behind its galloping growth lies in its
effective marketing and risk control and this essay will discuss the key marketing activities, tools
and strategies a company uses to build its repute, and in this context, as a premium smartphone
manufacturer.
According to AMA (2013), Marketing is defined as the activity, set of institutions, and processes for
creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers,
clients, partners, and society at large. It manages conveying the right item, to the right individuals at
the right cost and at the ideal time.
Marketing is the link that connect customers with the organisation as it is the only department who
knows the holistic nature of customers through it activity, such as market research.

  • 3. Biier s Block Case Study Bier`s block is simple to administer, reliable, cost effective and is ideal for short operative procedures on the upper limb and avoids the hazards of general anesthesia in patients with severe systemic diseases [6]. Adverse effects of Bier s block are about LA toxicity, slow onset, poor muscle relaxation, tourniquet pain and minimal postoperative pain relief. The ideal drug for Bier`s block should have: rapid onset, reduced dose of LA, reduced tourniquet pain and prolonged postoperative analgesia. No currently available local anesthetic fulfills these qualities and hence we need adjuvant to LA [3]. Two drugs belonging to the О±2 adrenergic receptor agonist namely Clonidine and Dexmedetomidine have been the focus of adjuvant in IVRA and recent clinical studies [12]. Gentili et al (1999) and Lurie et al (2000) both reported that addition of clonidine to IVRA increases tourniquet tolerance significantly [13] [14]. Dexmedetomidine is a potent О±2 adrenoceptor agonist with eight time s higher afп¬Ѓnity for the receptors than clonidine. Dexmedetomidine produces sedation, anxiolysis and analgesia. Dexmedetomidine compared to Clonidine is a more selective О±2 adrenoceptor agonist, which might permit its application in relatively high doses for sedation and analgesia without the unwanted vascular effects from activation of О±1 receptors. In addition, dexmedetomidine is shorter acting drug than clonidine and has a reversal drug for its sedative effect. These properties make dexmedetomidine suitable for sedation and analgesia during the perioperative period: as premedication, as an anesthetic adjunct for general and regional anesthesia, and as postoperative sedative and analgesic [7]. Memis and colleagues (2004) investigated the effects of adding dexmedetomidine (0.5Вµg/kg) to 40 ml 0.5% lignocaine during Bier`s block. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The human brain is basically made up of two parts. There is the conscious part and the subconscious part. The conscious part is the one that we are able to control ourselves. As a result it is very difficult for someone else to gain control over the conscious part of the brain. As for the unconscious part of the brain, it is the part that is vulnerable. This is because we cannot control the unconscious part of our brains. Therefore someone else can gain total control over that part of your brain. • 5. Analysis Of Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar Literature often illustrates the mundane is such a manner that the imagination of the common reader is spurred into a world of emotions that previously remained untapped or dormant. To elicit such a response requires the ability of a powerful writer that often in tandem achieves notoriety that transcends generations; for example, Sylvia Plath left a significant impression on the world, especially that of writing, despite her early passing at the age of thirty. It can be seen that the work of Sylvia Plath is often idolized due to the broad and relatable nature of the subject matter that is emotional strife; this work, then, is of great value to society and the world of literature as it teaches those reading that emotion is not something sparse, but wholehearted and running through the veins of every individual. Plath is most well known for her work that was heavily influenced by her ongoing mental illness, clinical depression. The vast majority of her poems, if not all, covered the subject of her emotional struggles she faced throughout her life. This can be seen within her novel The Bell Jar, which is her most admired and studied publication (as well as required in most curriculums across the United States). Notably, The Bell Jar was published less than a month before her suicide in the beginning of 1963. The raw nature of her writing is what drew a wide spectrum of people in, for all people have emotions, but she was one of the few that dared to publicize thoughts that ... Spatial ability is the ability to mentally manipulate 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional figures. One way in which spatial ability can be operationalised is in the form of mental rotation test. A mental rotation test requires participants to identify rotated versions of a target stimulus. Mental rotation usually takes place in the right cerebral hemisphere, in the areas where perception also occurs. There is a portrait of General Garfield and it greatly shows the characteristics of Garfield because it illustrates patriotism, guidance, and important part of his life. His public service shows his willingness to give up for the country and his belief that they should eliminate slavery. James A. Garfield was murdered within months of the beginning of his election. Just because something is labelled as illegal does not mean it is bad. Likewise, when something is labelled as legal does not mean it is not bad. Throughout the progression of time, the Western outlook on Marijuana has changed drastically. A few decades ago, the idea of smoking Marijuana was perceived as a menace to the public and the discussion of legalizing Marijuana was greatly frowned upon. Particularly during the early 1970 s when President Nixon proposed the war on drugs policy, where he proclaimed, The public enemy number one in the United States is drug abuse (Sharp, 1994, p.1). Despite the war on drugs policy, several decades later, America began legalizing the recreational use of Marijuana in four different States including; Alaska, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington. Similarly, with the United States impact, Canada is in the midst of legalizing Marijuana with the new Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau in power. Throughout Canadian history, the United States has greatly influenced Canada s policies and regulations. For instance, the issues of Doctor assisted suicide and Abortion were first legalized in the United States and not too long after, Canada followed. • 16. Prejudice In John Carreon s A Class Divided Juan Carreon A Class Divided This documentary was about how it feels to be discriminated upon and how it can be influenced in small children easily. Discrimination creates a barrier in the mind. For this reason, the barriers created by the prejudice are hard to overcome. In light to this, Elliott segregates her class according to eye color whereby brown eyes are perceived to be superior to the blue eyed people. On the first day, the brown eyed pupils were provided with privileges (A Class Divided). They were allowed to have help at lunch, extra time at recess and a sense of self worth above the blue eyed students. However, on the On the following day (not next) the situation is reversed and the blue eyed pupils are indulged with privilege which results to making brown eyed pupils feel less special compared with their peers. Elliott takes the opportunity to observe her class turning into a microcosm of society. Surprisingly, every time the experiment was carried out, the preferred group quickly turned the tables and embraced elite status. This implies that the two groups readily adopted the propaganda that Elliott sprouted on them (A Class Divided). The two created groups readily adopted their roles to perfection. I particularly agree with Elliot that racism is propaganda built on the people s mind that may not be easy to overcome. A keen observation of the experiment shows that both parties assumed their roles once they were empowered to operate. In real life situation, the wealthy and the have not are improvised environments. The environment is either improvised by the politicians, economists, capitalists or psychologists. A typical example is the African American relationship that has existed for many years. However, no single relationship exists between the skin color and a person capability to carry out an exercise. In the last American presidential election, President Barrack Obama managed to gain the presidency despite being of African American. More so, the first renowned neurosurgeon across the globe is Ben Carson. These individuals, in particular are enough evidence to disapprove the Elliott idea of discrimination (A Class Divided). • 19. Blue Collar Brilliance And The Busy Carter Analysis Work and leisure, these are two integral parts of human life, however there is much debate about which of them is more important as well as what the proper balance between them should be. Those such as Mike Rose and Nicholas Carr, in their articles Blue Collar Brilliance and World and Screen respectively, emphasis how the benefits of working, physically as well as mentally, are often forgotten. On the other side, however, Tim Freider in his work The Busy Trap contends that leisure is just as neglected in our fast paced world. Despite these seemingly different statements, these works share quite a lot on when looks just below the surface. In Blue Collar Brilliance Mike Rose describes his appreciation for the often unnoticed intelligence that many blue collar workers posses as well as the positive impact that physical work can have on the lives of those taking part in it. Nothing he says encapsulates this more than his description of his uncle Joe working on a car assembly line, For Joe the shop floor provided what school did not; it was like schooling, he said, a place where you re constantly learning. Joe Joe learned the most efficient way to use his body with a set of routines that were quick and preserved energy. (1036). This parallels the findings of Carr in World and Screen where he describes how by using our ancestral navigation abilities we keep our mind healthy mentally, by working out the parts of the brain that are in charge of memory, and physically by ... • 20. Behavioral Enrichment And Monitoring For Animal Welfare Behavioral Enrichment and Monitoring as Means to Improve Animal Welfare Although keepers have provided forms of enrichment to zoo animals for years, interest in scientifically raising captive animals standard of living has grown (Ben Ari, 2001). Behavioral engineering, also known as behavioral, animal, or environmental enrichment, is a type of husbandry technique used to better the physiological and psychological states of animals, conserve species by raising the rate of reproduction, diversify suitable behaviors, reduce stress and predatory and aggressive acts, increase learning ability, and/or provide animals with exercise, entertainment, or some sense of control in their environment (Ben Ari, 2001). Enrichment can take many forms, such as the addition of novelty objects to an animal s environment, renovating exhibits, and training (Ben Ari, 2001). However, Ben Ari (2001) details the emergence of a standardized scientific methodof enrichment, in which enrichment strategies are planned, executed, observed, documented, assessed, and then modified. Nevertheless, intensive studies are not feasible for all zoos (Ben Ari, 2001). For example, only 2 percent of enrichment at Disney s Animal Kingdom is evaluated through 12 weeklong projects (Ben Ari, 2001). Although not widespread yet, these types of strategies take animals mental states and behaviors exhibited in the wild into account (Ben Ari, 2001). • 21. Emily Dickinson s A Certain Slant of Light Analysis Essay 1 Emily Dickinson s There s a certain Slant of light In her poem, There s a certain Slant of light, Emily Dickinson uses metaphors and imagery to convey the feeling of solemnity and despair at winter s twilight. The slanted light that she sees, is a metaphor for her battle with depression. Anyone who is familiar with Dickinson s background will have a better understanding of what she is trying to say in this poem. Dickinson was known as a recluse and spent most of her life isolated from the outside world. The few people that she did come in contact with over the years are said to have had a major impact on her poetry. Although, her main muse of her work seems to be despair and internal conflict. ... We re unable to see a ray of hope that is coming through the window in the form of sunshine. In the fourth stanza, when death, or it as the speaker calls it, comes everything listens. When someone dies, those still on this earth sometimes experience stillness in nature, as if the world is on hold and listening to us. In Dickinson s poem the stillness comes from the slant of light, and the landscape and shadows listen and figuratively hold their breath. The landscape and shadows are personified in this stanza. The capitalization of Landscape and Shadows gives the impression that the speaker is referring to someone she knows. The mood here changes quite a bit compared to the first three stanzas of this poem. You get a sense of anticipation instead of despair, and the oppression that the speaker has felt has lifted and now she s feeling light and maybe some what alluring. In the final two lines of the poem, the poet uses sort of a morbid imagery. When it goes, tis like the Distance, On the look of Death. Social Issues In The Walking Dead By Richard Kirkman In the graphic novel, The Walking Dead by Richard Kirkman (writer), Tony Moore (art) and Cliff Rathburn (gray tones) introduce us to see how it is to survive in the zombie apocalypse, where the main story is not about the zombies themselves but the survivors. This is where a neighbor may turn into a walker (slang of zombies, and infected) and probably they should consider murdering him or her with an unsharpened object. This blunt object, the horrendous zombies, and the expressions of the characters are well represented by Tony Moore through the art in this book. Kirkman shows us that there are social issues between the survivors. Through his story, Kirkman tells us that in a post apocalyptic world, there is no administration, there is no law implementation, money has no value, there is no 911 to call and there is no characterized social structure. Many churches do a tremendous amount of work toward the goal of making disciples, but sometimes it is in an unhealthy manner. Just as a healthy person is going to have the most positive productivity in life, a healthy church will also have the most constructive output of discipleship. In this paper, I will explain how a healthy church is the goal for discipleship. In addition, I will examine my personal church context and identify the top three areas that I need to focus on to create a healthier body of Christ. Finally, I will discuss some initials steps that can be made to improve its spiritual health. The Goal The apostle Paul refers to the church as the body of Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:12 says, For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. The church is one body and all who are baptized are one in Christ. Just as a body can and should be healthy, a church body can and should be healthy as well. Putman et al. says that a healthy church looks and acts like a healthy body. While studying to be a registered nurse years ago, I had the opportunity to dive deep into study of the systems of the body. The body is tremendously complex and each system works with one another to make the body function as a whole. Consider a unique scenario where fa , ga , hb, and Ib subjects are the stock of belief and thereby the belief of a=b aspect is assumed, as soon as one accepts the identity he/she automatically owes a justification to his/her supportive reasoning in relation to the contextual basis, the three variables are basically related and mutually interlinked. Frege does assume that, depending on the preposition expressed, the a=a expressionis considered a priori while the second clause expression a=b is a posteriori. The aspect behind this is that the formulation of the expression is often considered by many as a petition principal to favor the perception that the sentences respectively express different propositions. It is possible to formulate and state Frege s puzzle in a better way without necessarily committing on either positive or negative side of the question or context, besides the formulation, the understanding of the puzzle doesn t necessarily involve two singular terms a and b, (Eros Jerome 2). In addition, the identity a=b can be contrasted into two uses to derive both informative and uninformative sentences, and the number of singular terms used doesn t matter. Lastly, being distinctive in the relevant notations of the original Frege s puzzle is likewise important: cognitive value, from the typical puzzle, a=b is informatively expressed contrary to a=a , cognitive content which is the part of information associated with the sentence subject, information content which is what an individual learns and perceive the case by simply understanding and thereafter accepting, in other words, it is the state which approves a sentence to be true and lastly semantic content which implies the entire meaning decoded from the sentence and the individual strictly respond to what the sentences basically expresses. The people in charge of the economics of Europe obviously did not calculate the amount of money a family was going to need in order to visit EuroDisney. • 42. Task1 Essay Biochemistry Competence 208.5.1: DNA,RNA Nicole Seegmiller Mott Western Governors University Abstract This a brief written report on the role of DNA, RNA and transmission on information within a cell to create amino acids. Biochemistry Competence 208.5.1: DNA,RNA DNA replication is an intricate process that requires many different proteins. Each protein preforms a very specific function in the creation of a new DNA strand. First helicase works by unwinding or dividing the original double helix into single stands. The point where the DNA is separated by the helicase is known as the replication fork. Single strand binding proteins attach to the newly made single strand of DNA to prevent re annealing. Next is the addition of an RNA ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First adenosine monophosphate (AMP), a covalent enzyme, must be formed and linked to a lysine enzyme. Next AMP will transfer to the 5 phosphate end of the missing section between the Okazaki fragments. Last OH will help remove the AMP sealing the phosphate backbone together producing a continuous DNA strand ( DNA Ligase, n.d.). A visual representation of ligase joining two Okazaki fragments can be viewed in Figure 2. Transcription is the formation of an RNA strand from a DNA template within the nucleus of a cell. There are four nucleotides of DNA. These are adenine, cytosine, guanine and thymine. These nucleotides are transcribed to form messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) consisting of nucleotides made of adenine, cytosine, guanine and uracil. This transcription from DNA to mRNA happens by an RNA polymerase II. This newly created mRNA is read in the 5 to 3 direction in sets of 3. These sets are called codons. Each mRNA also has a cap and end. On the 5 prime side is a methylated guanine triphosphate and on the 3 prime is a poly A tail. Messenger RNA then moves to the cells cytoplasm and through the cells ribosomes for translation. Messenger RNA is matched to molecules of transfer RNA (tRNA) in the ribosomes to create amino acids. These amino acids subsequently form an amino acid chain. (Osuri, 2003) A visual representation of this can been viewed in figure 3. As was just learned, RNA polymerase II is what transcribes DNA. ... They feel their story is not just for an industry audience, but for everyone; government officials, labor leaders, industry executives and general readers, in every country with an interest in how society goes about making things. The best way to describe lean production is to contrast it to its predecessors: craft production and mass production. Craft production uses highly skilled workers and simple but flexible tools to make exactly what the consumer asks for, one item at a time. The result is that consumers get exactly what they want but at a prohibitively high cost. Mass production uses narrowly skilled professionals to design products made by unskilled or semiskilled workers tending expensive, single purpose machines. The machines produce standardized products in very high volume. Due to the high cost of disruption of the process, the mass producer adds many buffers extra supplies, workers and space to assure smooth production. Also due to high cost of changing over to a new product, the mass producer keeps standard designs in production as long as possible. The result is the consumer gets lower costs but at the expense of variety, and workers tend to find their part of the process boring. Lean production, by contrast, uses teams of multiskilled workers at all levels of the organization, and uses highly flexible, increasingly automated machines to produce large volumes of products in enormous variety. This meant the involvement of the Criminal Justice System was needed to try and find out who had taken their baby. These components include the Police, Court, and eventually Corrections. Starting with the Police, or the detectives on the scene of the abduction. For this particular incident there was involvement with New Jersey Police, New York Police, and the F.B.I which at times caused some confusion. The detectives on the scene found little evidence initially, this included a Ransom note and a broken ladder with some footprints outside the house. Once reading the ransom note they found that it was written in a very childish tone and a lot was misspelled. The Lindbergh family received many other Ransom notes in time and found out that it was clear the abductor had planned this for a long time. Detectives working the case also had to look into all possible suspects in the kidnapping, It started with the family members themselves in which they had to take in all aspects, including Anne Lindbergh s sister Elizabeth who was seen as physically and mentally ill. • 48. The Great Tribulation In The Crucible By Arthur Miller The tony award winning play The Crucible is a play written by Arthur Miller. The Crucible came to be in the 1950s, a time where the fear of Communists in the country was rampant and creating unnecessary chaos through the United States. The hysteria reminded Miller of the Salem Witch Trials, the setting of the Crucible, where the paranoia of witches among the Puritans sent the town into a hurricane of chaos, leading to multiple catastrophic and unnecessary deaths. The perfect storm of brewing conditions launched one of the most foolish, traumatizing events in American history. With the conditions seen today, another one of these witch hunts is possible in our modern day time period. In fact, the Bible foretells of one to happen very soon, described as the Great Tribulation. Similar to the SalemWitch Trials, the Bible foretells of a time when unstable conditions would abound, a certain group of people would face persecuted, and people will have to confront a moral dilemma similar to the one presented in the Crucible. One could be asking the question, What is the Great Tribulation? The Great Tribulation is a period of time foretold in the Bible. They are different from many birds including other birds of prey. To look at all these wonderful owls would take more than a few pages so we will look at one, the Barn Owl. What is a barn owl? That is a simple question with a long answer. The story of the barn owl has changed throughout the years. It is best to start in the beginning. In the very beginning God created all living things including the barn owl. The first recorded time humans interacted with these birds was in ancient times. During this time people thought owls in general were spirits who had magical powers. These people either worshipped owls or feared them varying on their beliefs. Ancient Europeans and Native Americans from Tennessee used to draw them on cave walls. Now the barn owl s name makes sense. It is obviously an owl that lives in barns. What is an owl though? Nowhere in the definition does it say, Attend to behavior , or, Watch for drunken disorder. Bartenders are those that fill orders of patrons at a bar itself or are given a beverage order by a waiter or a waitress that he or she will pick up and serve to the patron. (Benson, Beth). Being a bartender takes patience, and a great deal of responsibility. A job is a job no matter what the job is.
