The Price Elasticity Of Demand
Price elasticity of demand is defined as a measure of the responsiveness or sensitivity of consumers to
changes in the price of a good or service (Thomas Maurice, 2012, pp. 199). Mathematically, the price
elasticity of demand is calculated by dividing the percentage change in quantity demanded by the
percentage change in price. Demand is said to be elastic whenever the absolute value of the percentage
change in quantity demanded exceeds the percentage change in price, which means the absolute value
of the elasticity would be greater than one. If the absolute value of the price elasticity of demand is
less than one, the demand is said to be inelastic, or less sensitive to the price change. There are various
factors that affect the price elasticity of products, in the following sections these factors will be
applied to the demand of desktop computers.
The first factor which is the most important determinant of price elasticity of demand is the
availability of substitutes (Thomas Maurice, 2012, pp. 205). For any product where quality substitutes
are readily available, the price elasticity of demand will be high. For example, if the price of desktop
computers was to rise by 20%, the quantity of desktop computers demanded would most likely
decrease by a greater percentage. This is because consumers could easily go out and purchase laptop
computer or tablets to accomplish tasks for which they needed the desktop computer. Likewise, if the
price of desktop computer

Physical Activity And Brain Plasticity
In the article Physical activity and brain plasticity in late adulthood by Kirk I. Erickson, PhD, Ariel G.
Gildengers, MD and Meryl A Butters, PhD provides insight to research on the effects of physical
activity on the human brain in late adulthood. The article provides and overview of cognitive
functioning in older adults. The purpose of the research in the article is to demonstrate how physical
activity and other risk factors such as education, obesity, smoking, hypertension, diabetes, and
depression can contribute to the cognitive impairment of the brain thus increasing the risk of
Alzheimer s disease, cardiovascular problems, and cancer in people over the age of 65. The research
methods and design for the experiments provide insight to how researchers utilize biological
measurements, observations of the human brain and the experimental research method. The method
for each of the experiments are based on more than one experiment and validity of the outcome
provides insight to basically the same outcome at the end of the article. To understand the underlying
research methods it is important for this summary to include all of the different experiments and their
outcomes. The purpose of the first experiment was to Establish molecular basis of physical activity on
brain health (Erickson 1). The experiment on physical brain activity was conducted on rodents in order
to determine the effects on learning and memory, neurotransmitter systems, metabolic and

Biological Weapons Should Not Be Used During War Time
Did you know that biological weapons contain such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and other
microorganisms(ncwiseowl.com). Chemicals weapons is a specialized munition that uses chemicals
formulated to inflict death or harm on humans(ncwiseowl.com). When biological weapons are in use
about 500 million people could die and when chemical weapons are in use anyone in the area could
get hurt/sick(ncwiseowl.com). So the military should not use during war time. Biological/Chemical
weapons are the type of weapons that should not be used in a time of war. When using these weapons
there capable of killing most of the people that are in the area where the weapon has been used. These
weapons are capable of killing thousand possible millions, in other word any living organism that is in
the area. There also the possibility of killing people that aren t even in the war they might just be in
the area. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The weapons could kill ¼ of the population thin the area. So the people can t do anything about the
use of the weapons because they can t control the war. The people just watch their own die or be to
near dead. When the use of the weapons people that weren t in the war can get killed then people can
get involved in a war that isn t theirs. When considering the Good side of the use of the
biological/chemical weapons, you can take out massive amount of people in one go. If you consider a
group of people a threat you can kill most without losing any of you troop or soldiers. You could use
the weapo without the other side knowing that you even used the weapon. You could also use it as a
last resort to kill of the rest of the enemy or the thing you are trying to kill.
My final statement is the biological and chemical weapon should not be used in time of war. Theses
weapons could be unstable and kill many. People that aren t involved in the war could get killed and

Interracial Marriages In The 1950 s
Have a good day at work honey! , is something that a housewive would say to their working husbands
in the mornings when they leave for work. Women were always happier to be stay at home mothers
due to the fact that it was their only role during those times. The only things that they were responsible
for was to make meals, house chorus, and to care for the children. Men only had to work to maintain
their families, be always right, and always gave inspiring moral advice. Since the family roles in the
1950 s were much more simple, many people believed that those were the best times to start a family.
That wasn t the whole truth of the family construction in the 50 s, and it wasn t the best time to live
due to the fact that there was so much disconnection ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Interracial marriages was one of the different forms of structure. Now more than ever there are more
and more families from different races that are being married. Like in the first episode of Modern
Family , Sofia Vergara or better known as Gloria is married to an older caucasian man. Not only is it a
interracial marriage but they have both been divorced with children. Due to the fact that her second
husband is older than her, so are his children. In the 1950 s such marriages were not acceptable in all
of the states. Interracial marriages was not only the different thing in the modern family but also was
that homosexual marriages. Homosexuals were never accepted, they were always considered to be
sick. In never had anyone thought that homosexuals would be able to be married, much less be able to
have a family. In the same show Gloria s step son adopts a baby girl from vietnam. Jay, Gloria s
second husband, never accepted his sons homosexuallity. All those thoughts went away when he saw
the baby girl that his son and his husband adopted and realized that love brings families together. In
the 50 s being a homosexual was a big offence and if the person wanted to be a homosexual it had to

Red Flour Beetles Lab
INTRODUCTION In this lab, the class discovered the effects of different substrates and stimuli on red
flour beetles. Red flour beetles eat flour and other grains and the female beetle deposits her eggs on
flour, cereal, dry pet food, or other similar products. The larvae hatch and then begin to eat the
material around them. In the article Patch exploitation by Tribolium castaneum: Movement patterns,
distribution, and oviposition , it says that most of the activity from red flour beetles is spent in food
sources (Campbell and Hagstrum). There are many factors that affect the red flour beetles ability to
survive or reproduce, like temperature, food source, stress, and genetics (Biology 159). In Humidity
Reactions of Tribolium Castaneum (Herbst) , it states that red flour beetles are attracted to different
substrates due to their nutritional levels and moisture level of the substrate (Willis and Roth). ... Show

The first hypothesis for this lab is that, if red flour beetles are placed in the center of a dish with wheat
flour on one side and white flour on the other, then more beetles will go to their preferred substrate.
Our prediction is that the white flour side will occupy more red flour beetles than the oat flour side of
the dish because that is the preferred substrate. The null hypothesis is that there will be no preference
between the two substrates. The second hypothesis for this lab is that, when red flour beetles are
placed in the center of the petri dish with sugar on one side and white flour on the other, then more
beetles will go to the preferred substrate. Our prediction is that the white flour side, again, will be the
preferred substrate and occupy more red flour beetles. The null hypothesis is that there will be no

Essay on Value Systems and Successful Markets
Economic success defines a nations success in modern day society. Sure India has had a prosperous
past. But as we continue in this post colonial world, the need to prove ourselves has only been higher.
It has been over 60 years since we achieved independence and became a republic, we are yet to prove
our potential to the world. The world s parameter to determine our capabilities are high, just as it
ought to be to encourage each nation to develop to its fullest ability. Competition generally helps
nations to do better and achieve greater. When we first gained independence much of the idea of
development and being an economic super power was furthered by the socialist of welfare oriented
governance but since the end of the Soviet Russia ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This idea in India became popular as it was to hope that it would strive to get rid of patronisation that
the colonial and the Mughal powers catered to.
Democracy was initiated in order to equate all citizens of this nation. We did this so that we had a
situation where each one had the equal opportunity to grow. When we have a democracy as large as
India, it is unthinkable to have corruption existing along its lines. The idea of democracy was to guide
us away from the sinking boat and lead us through the darkest nights. It was the idea of emancipation
that democracy brought within itself. But within the next couple of years, democracy was yet to bring
in any of its promised propositions. Instead the ugly face of the opposite of democracy became
popular yet again, that of patronage. We were back to square one; we had not yet evolved from our
dark past. We were still stuck in it. We were a corrupt nation that allowed for deep inequality. Poverty
and hunger continue to reel in the minds of our western counter parts when they imagined India. The
patronage policy was set forth with the rise of Indira Gandhi in the late 1960 s and early 1970 s. It was
a known fact that patronage would allow chief ministers to gain a position of power in the cabinet or
any other position at the centre. The shuffling and change of chief ministers in the state of
Maharashtra in the 1970 s and 80 s are a clear

Is It Possible to Restore a Balance between the...
Recently everyone has started hearing the out cry surrounding the problem of the degradationof the
worlds ecosystems that have a negative effect on the biodiversity and the livelihoods of people
worldwide. People are beginning to realise that that these bio systems can not be conserved just
through the protection of critical areas alone.
A new solution whos potential hasn t been fully taken advantage of until now is ecological restoration
which is a process whereby not only the recovery of eco systems that have been degraded damaged or
destroyed are looked at but also the human influences that surround them.
In order for ecological restoration to be effective it needs to pay attention to four main aspects namely:
Improvement of biodiversity conservation,
Improvement of the livelihoods of people,
The empowerment of the native and local people and
The improvement of the productivity of the ecosystems.
The difference between typical conservation where only the environment is considered and ecological
restoration is that it has the potential to make opportunities available not only to repair the damage
done to the ecosystems but also to improve the condition of the people involved in rescuing it.
Because people belive they are helping themselfs ecological restoration has been able to alter the
perspective of people in the local community, allowing new economic opportunities to form aswel as
the rejuvinaton of traditional cultural practices. In this way it can be seen

Causes Of The Jewish Revolution Of 1848
One of the key factors of the Revolution was the rise of nationalism in the respective crown lands. The
various ethnic groups of the Habsburg Empire for national recognition. The Jews on the other hand
sought the repeal of discriminatory taxes and legislation. They championed natural not national rights.
Secondly the new middle class worked under harsh conditions for little pay. They protested against
new technologies such as machines, at the same time, they lacked an cohesive agenda. Marx would
later attribute this to their lack of class conciseness in the Communist Manifesto. It should be noted
that most of these workers were reeling against Jewish industrial leaders, so it is safe to say that the

Though the Fundamental Laws extended Religious Freedoms, it also worked to fully alienate the
Jewish people from Galician politics. One of the requirements of holding office, was to fall under a
nationally recognized language. This was calculated in the new census procedures, in which citizens
had to list both their language and associated nationality. The Census did not consider Jewish or
Yiddish as legitimate responses, thus further alienating the Jewish population. These new regulations
created a Polish majority in the Diet, under which both the Jews and Rutherians had limited suffrage.
It soon became evident to some members of the Jewish elite, that political consciousness was essential
to gaining freedom. In 1868, the first hint of a Jewish Nationalism movement appeared with the
creation of Shomer Israel in Lemberg. Though originally this was not a politically active group it
would later push for widespread Jewish

The American with Disabilities Act was a major piece of legislation that the Federal government put
into law July, 26 1990. The American with Disables Act is an act that protects people s rights being

Romeo And Juliet Rhetorical Analysis
In Romeo and Juliet Shakespeare uses oxymora to help describe complicated human emotions. People
can have two opposing emotions such as love and hate. This is accuratly protrayed throughout the play
but mostly with the character of Juliet. For example Juliet uses the oxymoron fiend angelical in her
speech. This oxymoron means devil angle. Representing the fact that Juliet is struggling with her
interpation of Romeo character after he killed Tybalt. She thinks he may have the same traits as the
devil such as cruelness and wickedness. But her love for him makes her find it hard to belive that that
can be possible. She thinks of an angle in their love. Pure and happy is what she sees him as and
subconciously wishes he was.

The Middle East chapter in our mythology book contained the stories The Enuma elish, Osiris, Isis,

Egyptian gods were created, and read about the adventures of other gods. The first story is The Enuma

ruler of the sweet waters, and Tiamat was the rulers of the salt waters. After a few generations of gods,
Ea was born from Anu and Nintu. Ea was stronger than his father and his grandfather, so he became
the god of the earth. After a while, the younger gods were starting to become annoying to the older

Tuckman s Stages Of Group Development Model
A Study on Tuckman s Stages of Group Development Model
1. Introduction
Over the past two decades, it seems that teamwork has become increasingly important and more
companies have formed different teams and groups for various purposes (Samson Daft, 2012). It is
proved that good teams can be highly productive, however, not every team is successful (Samson
Daft, 2012). Forming a team can be time consuming and there are many problems related to
teamwork, for example, social loafing might reduce the effectiveness of a team. Therefore, it is crucial
to know how to develop a good team with less time and less effort. Bruce Tuckman in 1965 developed
the popular model for effective team building. This model identifies four stages of team building
which are forming, storming, norming and performing (Tuckman, 1965). Later on, Tuckman added a
fifth stage: adjourning to the model (Samson Daft, 2012). The five stage team development model
provides a guideline on how team works by using simple and easily understandable words. However,
there are some limitations of this theory as well. This paper in the following will discuss both the
utility and the limitations of Tuckman s team development stage model. Then it will provide some
suggestions based on the limitations of the model.

Types Of An Equilibrium System
STSE: Equilibrium Systems
1. Choose a process which uses an equilibrium system.
How calcium oxalate kidney stones form in a human body?
Calcium oxalate stones are the most common type of kidney stones to form. They are solid masses
that form within the kidney because of a great amount of oxalate in one s urine and too little liquid.
Oxalate is found in foods, and when the body is done processing the nutrients it requires from
digestion, waste products travel to the kidneys. The kidneys make urine which removes these waste
products, however if there are too many waste products present in too little liquid, there are crystals
that form. Crystals will then stick together to form a kidney stone which can t get passed through and
out of the body as urine. Crystals that are specific to kidney stones are formed of oxalate which sticks
to calcium also found in the kidneys. The formation of calcium oxalate kidney stones is an equilibrium
system.
2. Write the balanced equation for the system.
CaC2O4 (s) ( removed HTML ) Ca2+(aq) + C2O42 (aq)
The forward reaction for this reversible reaction shows calcium oxalate breaking down into calcium
and oxalate ions.
The reverse reaction is where calcium and oxalate ions form calcium oxalate kidney stones.
3. Explain the shifts that occur in this equilibrium using Le Chatelier s Principle.
In terms of Le Chatelier s Principle, there are changes in concentration, temperature, volume and
pressure that can occur to

The Sistine Chapel By Michelangelo
The Sistine Chapel was painted by Michelangelo during the High Renaissance. Michelangelo depicted
nine scenes from the Old Testament onto the Sistine Chapel ceiling. The Sistine Chapel was painted
between 1508 and 1512 by Michelangelo. Michelangelo was originally a sculptor. Some common
characteristics that can be found in the paintings are depth, blue backgrounds, anatomy, detail and
more. Many characteristics from the Renaissance can be found in the Sistine Chapel, which proves
that the Sistine Chapel is Renaissance art. My thesis is the use of these new techniques have not been
seen in earlier art periods such as, depth, detail, bold colors, realism and more displays that the Sistine
Chapel is Renaissance Art.

Nick Carraway Mature In The Great Gatsby
In The Great Gatsby written by Scott F Fitzgerald, we meet a plethora of characters all displaying
traits of one who has not matured yet. The Great Gatsby follows the story of a man who is infatuated
with a reckless woman and the drama that follows. Nick Carraway is our narrator and one of the main
characters, he spends much of his time observing the mistakes and everyday lives of the other
characters. Even though he is an adult, Nick does grow in maturity and insight throughout the course
of the novel as he is drawn into a lifestyle completely foreign to him. Nick is, in fact, the only

Good Drivers, Good And Good
DRIVER HABITS, GOOD AND BAD
Did you ever hear anyone admit to being a bad driver? Probably not, because everybody thinks they re
a good driver. They also think that everybody else is a menace on the road. If we perfect drivers ride
with another driver, we can usually find fault with their performance. Believe it or not, if they ride
with us, they can return the favor. How can we tell a good driver from a bad one? The number of
traffic accidents they have had would be an obvious indicator, but not necessarily the only one. There
are drivers who have habits that cause others to have accidents.
For instance, imagine you are following two slow cars, and when the way is clear, you signal and pull
out to overtake them. As you come along side the first one, he begins to pull out to overtake the car in
front of him, not seeing you because you are in his blind spot . You might have a crash which he
causes, and he goes on his merry way. Many people drive with a blind spot on either side of their cars,
roughly alongside the rear fenders. It s simply a bad habit on their part, of not adjusting the mirrors.

side of fame hasn t. We don t stop to ponder the scrutiny that comes with being a celebrity. Not even
how this can cause depression and self esteem issues, which can lead to problems further down the

Comparing Magic In A Wizard Of Earthsea And Lord Of The Rings
Magic is something people all wish we could use, but when a person has magical powers you can t
just do what you please. If a person could just use magic whenever then it would just be a disaster.
Magic has turned into a form of entertainment to people over time. There is limits in magic. Different
series convey them in different ways. Yet these rules come in many different forms. Magic is different
in A Wizard Of Earthsea(AWOE) by Ursula K. Le Guin compared to Lord Of The Rings(LOTR) by
J.R.R. Tolkien, due to how each book teaches magic, and how they use magic. A Wizard Of Earthsea
is strict, because of the limitations. While LOTR is lenient, due to the fact that magic does not come
with a consequence. For instance, whether or not magic is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both books, AWOE and LOTR, teach magic in different ways. In AWOE, magic is taught to them in a
school of other magical people or a mentor that is a great magical person. In LOTR, the magical
person is given powers that he s able to just use, never went to a magical school or taught by a
powerful mentor. For example in AWOE, when Ged, a wizard, is on a mission to find the school for
wizard, he says to the first townsman of Thwil Where he would find the Warder of the School on Roke
(36). This shows that the book,AWOE, takes magic and teaches it to the character of the book. The
character,Ged, wasn t just given powers but he had to go to a school of wizards to gain more
knowledge to reach his full potential in his path to becoming a wizard. AWOE tries to express the fact
that magic is taught, that the magical person was not handed power but had to learn spells. A example
of how magic is not taught in LOTR, when the narrator states As for Bilbo Baggins, even while he
was making his speech, he had been fingering the golden ring in his pocket: his magic ring that he had
kept secret for so many years. As he stepped down he slipped it on his finger, and he was never seen
by an hobbit in Hobbiton again (33). Unlike AWOE, the LOTR doesn t have magical people go to
magical schools. Bilbo doesn t have any powers, he can t repeat a spell he is taught and boom

Compare And Contrast Night Rhythms And The Yellow Wallpaper
Some people believe in fate, luck, and religion, whereas others believe in only things that are tangible.
The you have to see it to believe it mentality is a major aspect as to why people have a hard time
understanding mental illness, and why in turn patients with mental illness have a hard time getting the
help they need. In comparing the texts, Night Rhythms and The Yellow Wallpaper, these distinct
differences between physical and mental illness are highlighted. The idea of not believing in what is
not tangible is shown in the beginning of Night Rhythms, in the description of the woman s husband.
It says, He scoffs openly at any talk of things not to be felt and seen and put down in figures (p. ) .
This is significant because mental illness cannot always be felt, seen, or put down in figures. Society
is more understanding and sympathetic of physical illness than mental illness. In these two texts, the
illnesses described are cerebral palsy and postpartum depression. Cystic fibrosis is a congenital
disease that affects motor skills. This is a physical illness. Postpartum depression occurs after a mother
delivers her baby. After delivers, the hormone levels in the mother s body drop and this combined with
sleep deprivation and new stress can leave the mother feeling very down. This is a mental illness. In
Night Rhythms, Deans illness is described as he choked during birth, which means the rhythm of the
contractions were wrong. His lungs opened too soon (p. 102) . It is

The Interior Of Dance Communication
The Interior of Dance
Communication is one of the basic elements of any society. In order for any a human being to survive
they must communicate meaning that humans are very sociable. Communication is something that we
have been learning since we were kids. It has become natural to communicate in all situations. We ve
learned to communicate in writing. Due to technology becoming more advanced we not only write in
the form of letters, but now we can send and write to communicate to other people by text messaging,
emailing, public speaking, and non verbal communication. We have also learned to smile when we are
happy, cry when the tough gets going, and scream when danger is near. Throughout the years we have
become more aware of the things we say. We don t scream fire in a room full of people or we know
that we don t talk to our teacher the way we would talk to our friends. As we get older we become
apart of different groups. Without notice we become accustom to the rules, the way they communicate,
and the ideas and interest of the group, also known as a discourse community. I myself belong to a
discourse community. At the age of five, I discovered my passion. I knew then exactly what I know
now, that I am in love with dance. Dance helps me express myself in ways that I could not even
imagine being capable of doing verbally. It is my escape from the rest of the world because it puts me
in a place where I am completely comfortable. I don t know where I would be without it.

caused by atypically high temperatures, perpetual drought and new farming methods. Vigorous winds
disturbed the topsoil, resulting in overwhelming dust storms which destroyed an immense amount of
farms, in upwards of 100,000. These storms devastated the source of income for the farmers affected.
The dust bowl was located in the Great Plains region, which includes the states of Oklahoma, Kansas,
and Northern Texas. Thousands of workers were faced with an impasse, become a laborer, doing
mindless work for miniscule wages, or move away and search for better work. (San José State
University) The people brought to these decisions that chose to ... Show more content on

The mother could have effortlessly pawned off her ring, and gotten a few decent meals, or even a new

in the middle of nowhere, the ring means that they are still together. The ring is a beacon through the
storm, a symbol of what was, and hope for what will be. Lange intended for the viewer to apprehend
how vital family was for the migrant workers.
In this image, Lange is also trying to demonstrate that children were still able to be children, and were
still innocent, through all of the turmoil. Although the mother knows that she has security in her
family, she still feels guilt, anger, and regret. The mother was forced to uproot her family and trek
across the country just to find work, and that does not happen without bitter feelings being formed. On
the other hand, her baby has been through these same events, but he remains unscathed, and innocent.

The Importance Of Poverty In South Korea
Over the summer, I traveled to Seoul, South Korea. One day, I decided to walk down streets of
Hongdae to see what everyone was doing. There were people everywhere; they were rushing around
hurriedly and frantically studying in cafés that lined the street. I turned down a side road to the front of
a temple, where I saw homeless people sitting on the ground, holding their hands out for even ₩10 (a
penny in US dollars). I walked further along onto the main road and found a mob of people protesting
various things in the middle of the street. This scene of endless work, poverty, and injustice is found
all over the world, not just in South Korea. With a world that consists of seeing so many terrible
events happening daily, the world needs hope.
One issue that reveals the need for hope is poverty. The 2015 Census found that 13.5% of America s
population was in poverty, and this number has probably risen up even higher as years have passed by
( Current Poverty Rate ). There are so many people in the world who are stuck in poverty and may
also feel resigned to being in poverty and not being able to do anything about it. Another issue that
shows the need for hope is war. The world is constantly talking about being on the verge of worldwide
conflict, and daily on the news, you see new stories about how tensions are rising that could lead us to
immediate nuclear war. For example, almost every day now, we hear stories about how North Korea
keeps threatening the world with the

Life Of A Slave Girl By Harriet Ann Jacobs Essay
Gwynedd Mercy University is a Catholic University founded and sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy.
The Sisters of Mercy commit to serving, advocating for, and praying for those in need all over the
world. They work passionately to reduce critical concerns that are prevalent in today s society; for
example, issues consisting of denial of human rights, degradation of the earth, violence, and racism.
Although multiple critical concerns could fit, the critical concern of denial of human rights was most
present in the novel, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, written by Harriet Ann Jacobs. Slavery
would have been a huge concern for the Sisters of Mercy to work against, given their work was being
done in America; however, slavery in the United States began in the 1600s and The first Sisters of
Mercy arrived in the United States from Ireland in 1843. The Sisters of Mercy s concern of denial of
human rights exists not only in the novel, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl but also in present day
society. All human beings have the fundamental right to their life, their liberty, and their property, it
even states this in the Declaration of Independence. In slavery, and in this novel, slaves were denied
all three. The main critical concern of denial of human rights existed throughout the entire novel,
Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl. Linda, the main character, not only was not allowed to own her

They had their entire lives ahead of them birthdays, graduations, weddings, kids of their own. Among
the fallen were also teachers, men and women who devoted their lives to helping our children fulfill
their dreams ( STUDENT NEWS ). One morning in Newtown, Connecticut, many children and staff
of Sandy Hook Elementary were ready to begin their daily routine of attending school, or work.
Unfortunately, they were not aware that this would be the last time they do so. The shooting at Sandy
Hook Elementary ended the lives of several staff and young children. This devastating tragedy added
fuel to the controversial gun argument. Parents of the children lobbied to pass gun reform laws which
would help provide safety for citizens and prevent awful events similar to this from occurring in the
future.
The Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting occurred on December 14, 2012, in Newtown,
Connecticut, when 20 year old Adam Lanza shot twenty children and six adult staff members ( Sandy

Medea Greek Theatre Essay
Medea, written by Euripides, is a play laced with elements of Greek theater. The play centers around
Medea, whose husband, Jason, has left her and their children for the princess of Creon. Medea must
struggle with these events and the course of action she decides to take; killing her and Jason s two
sons in order to make him feel her misery. These events employ several elements of Greek theater,
including; transcending cultural and temporal boundaries, specifically that of difficult relationships
and painful decisions, women fighting misogyny and the patriarchy, and the use of chorus in order to
give insight into events and characters.
Medea is able to transcend cultural and temporal boundaries by telling the story of difficult romantic
relationships and the making of painful decisions. These elements of Greek theatre are relevant
throughout the play as the audience is shown the complicated relationship between Medea and Jason
and the difficult decisions made by this relationship. Medea and Jason are a prime example of a
difficult romantic relationship; Jason has left Medea and their two children for another woman,
leaving her alone to mourn her lost love. Medea is enraged by Jason s ... Show more content on

Clark s Legacy Case Study
Legacy:
In 1944, with Clark´s encouragement and financial support from Phipps father, the Northside Testing
and Treatment Center was opened in Harlem. In 1948 it became the Northside Center for Child
Development, it provided testing services and psychological consultations for behavioral problems.
They realized that the Board of Education wasn t doing proper testing for minority students. The
students were put into special needs classes, so Clark started to do his own testing and realized that
many of these students intelligence was above average. (Nyman, 2010). The Treatment Center not
only provided child care information for parents, but also aided teens for vocational guidance. At one

Assessment Task For A Student s Abilities Essay
2. Assessment task review a. Suitability of items Generally, when looking at each items vertically,
most of the columns start with ones which indicates that this skill was easy for the higher ability
students and finish with most of zeros which demonstrates that it was difficult for the lower ability
students. In between, there is a mixture of ones and zeroes breaking down in the column. This
demonstrates that the items in this task are suitable to use to analyse students ability. However, there is
an irregular pattern of 1 s and 0 s for the item 1.2. The less able students could get this skill while the
more able students could not get it. This may be because these students did not have this skill.
Therefore, this item is still suitable to be used to assess the student s abilities. b. Suitability of task to
determine ZPDs of the cohort assessed This task is suitable to determine the ZPD of the students. The
data in the Guttman chart show that only the student 1 could be able to achieve the highest number of
the items. However, this student did not achieve the last three items 2.2, 4.2 and 7.2, which means that
these three items are difficult to this students in particular or to all of the students in this assessment.
This assessment, therefore, can avoid the ceiling effect for the ZPD grouping process. Moreover, the
width of the zone containing a mixture of zeros and ones in the Guttman chart are narrow. The longest

Effects Of Imperialism On The Indian Economy
Effects of Imperialism to the Indian Economy In 2015 India was ranked among the highest countries
globally in consumer confidence, this comes after the International Monetary Fund estimated an
economic growth of up to 7% annually for the next decade in India. But this hasn t always been the
case, in fact, it wasn t so long ago that India was simply another colonized nation around the world,
not to mention it s usually rare to see this kind of economic growth in such a small period of time. The
Effects of globalization, with an emphasis on open trade networks, and the Imperial developments of
the late 19th century have led to the emergence and rise of India s market based economy. This growth
has been affected in a very positive way over a span of centuries by a combination of stronger
economic developments brought about by a massive increase in the countries labor force and the
emphasis on education and self governance. An exposure to both the Western economic systems
during the imperial age until their independence in 1947 and their subsequent involvement in the
Asian, Middle Eastern and African trade routes from the late 15th century placed India in an economic
equilibrium where they were able to benefit from both worlds and become one of the fastest growing
economies. The global economic depression of the 1930 s combined with the two world wars was
crucial in establishing early seeds of economic development in India. During the global

Instead they were pretty much treated as if everything was their fault and they had sole responsibility
for the war and they were going to pay the price. 3. The fundamental Laws the document appeal to in
order to strengthen German assertions was the right to self determination. They felt that by being
deprived of that right, the feelings and wishes of all the people were being taken away and not being
considered. They were forced to abide by other nations wishes without any input as to what they
wished for themselves. 4. Personally I do agree that Germany was being mistreated. In my opinion,
they were being unfairly treated because what applied to one nation did not apply to them. They were
pretty much treated like they were the sole reason why the war started and they were being punished
for the actions and choices of many nations. It was as if in order to live in peace they had to give up
the very land and rights everyone was fighting for, especially the basic rights of the nations of self
determination. It is unreasonable and not right to force Germany to give up all power of their land, by
having another nation determine everything for them, for Germany to have to rebuild their country

Brain Modulation
The present study aimed to determine whether modulation of cortical activity using a noninvasive

that included working memory and problem solving components. Our main results show that anodal

Mating between prairie voles is a tremendous 24 hour effort. After this, they bond for life. They prefer
to spend time with each other, groom each other for hours on end and nest together. They avoid
meeting other potential mates. The male becomes an aggressive guard of the female. And when their
pups are born, they become affectionate and attentive parents. However, another vole, a close relative
called the montane vole, has no interest in partnership beyond one night stand sex. What is intriguing
is that these vast differences in behaviour are the result of a mere handful of genes. The two vole
species are more than 99% alike, genetically.
Why do voles fall in love?
The details of what is going on the vole story, as it were is a fascinating one. When prairie voles have
sex, two hormones called oxytocin and vasopressin are released. If the release of these hormones is
blocked, prairie voles sex becomes a fleeting affair, like that normally enjoyed by their rakish montane
cousins. Conversely, if prairie voles are given an injection of the hormones, but prevented from having
sex, they will still form a preference for their chosen partner. In other words, researchers can make
prairie voles fall in love or whatever the vole equivalent of this is with an injection.
A clue to what is happening and how these results might bear on the human condition was found when
this magic juice was given to the montane vole: it made no difference. It

Analysis Of Martin Luther King Letter From Birmingham Jail
Martin Luther King, Jr. wrote a letter called, Letter from Birmingham Jail . This letter was written to
clergymen who criticized his nonviolent approach. It was written in 1963 during the height of the
Civil Rights movement. This letter s purpose is to show the way that King felt about his movement to
create a more equal society than what he was living in and what he thought about his nonviolent acts
contrary to the clergyman. In the beginning of this text, there is a letter from the clergymen that
critiques the protest that King led. The clergymen essentially say that King s protest is unwise and
there are better ways to fix the problem of racial friction. They write:
Just as we formerly pointed out that hatred and violence have no sanction in our religious and political
traditions, we also point out that such actions as incite to hatred and violence, however technically
peaceful those actions may be, have not contributed to the resolution of our local problems.(372)
The clergymen continue to state that the Negro community should completely stop participating in
these protests and handle the issue in the courts. The rest of the text is King s response to the
clergymen. He first states that the clergymen only mentioned the problem and not what caused it by
writing:
You deplore the demonstrations that are presently taking place in Birmingham. But I am sorry that
your statement did not express as similar concern for the conditions that brought the demonstrations
into being.(374)
He is saying that they are complaining about the fact that they are protesting in their town, but really
they should be thinking about what they are doing to cause these protests. If they were doing
something to prevent the segregation that is being protested then they would also be preventing the
protests. King then goes on to talk about the segregation in Birmingham and he writes, On the basis of
these conditions, Negro leaders sought to negotiate with the city fathers. But the political leaders
consistently refused to engage in good faith negotiation (375). Here King is responding to the
clergymen and how they told the Negroes to solve their protests in the courts. He is stating here that
the Negro community has tried that

Lehman Brothers Great Depression
Lehman Brothers was founded by German immigrant Henry Lehman and his two brothers Emanuel
and Mayer in 1850. Lehman Brothers was able to overcome many obstacles the railroad bankruptcies
of the 1800s, the Great Depression of the 1930s, two world wars, a capital shortage when it was spun
off by American Express in 1994, and the Long Term Capital Management collapse and Russian debt
default of 1998. (Investopedia) But the collapse of the housing market was one obstacle they could not
overcome.
During the Great Depression the Glass Steagall Act was enacted in 1933. The legislation prevented
commercial and investment banks from competing with each other and protected their balance sheets
by having each sector focus on certain transactions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The firm recognized profits from 2005 to 2006, and in 2007 it reported a record net income of $4.2
billion on revenues of $19.3 billion. In the same year, Lehman Brothers stock reached an all time high
of $86.18 per share, giving it a market capitalization close to $60 billion. (Investopedia) The bursting
of the housing bubble was imminent. Defaults on subprime mortgages were at a seven year high. The
stock market had its biggest single day drop in five years on March 13. In the post earnings conference
call, Lehman s chief financial officer (CFO) said that the risks posed by rising home delinquencies
were well contained and would have little impact on the firm s earnings. He also said that he did not
foresee problems in the subprime market spreading to the rest of the housing market or hurting the
U.S. economy. (Investopedia) Bear Stearns, another investment bank, had two hedge funds fail with
the credit crisis in August. Lehman Brother s stocks fell strongly and it shut down its BNC unit in the
same month.
Lehman Brothers underwrote the most mortgage backed securities, gaining a portfolio four times that
of its shareholders equity at 85 billion dollars. At the end of 2007 in the fourth quarter, Lehman s
stocks rebounded. The firm however, did not take that opportunity to reduce its large mortgage
portfolio. That large portfolio coupled with its high degree of leverage at 31 made Lehman Brothers
very vulnerable to the deteriorating market conditions. In

Popularity of Soccer Around the World Essay
Popularity of Soccer Around the World
I am going to talk about the most popular sport in the world: football. Now, you may be having visions
of huge quarterbacks, dressed up in their padding and helmets, parading down the field during the
Super Bowl. But the other kind of football, the football the rest of the world knows, has no padding or
helmets. This other football is known in America as soccer. In more than 175 countries across the
globe, football, or soccer, rates as the number 1 national sport.
Football dates back as far as thousands of years ago. There are records that show that ancient
civilizations of Greece, Egypt, and China (among others) played an age old form of football with a
stuffed leather ball. Early games in Old ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the present there are more than 2 million players registered with official football organizations, and
about 275,000 clubs play in official leagues and tournaments. The World Cup, held every four years, is
the highlight of football tournaments. Held by FIFA (of course), it lasts 1 month, and on this month,
the world s eyes are on the World Cup. In 1994, over 1 billion people watched the World Cup, and the
events leading up to it. The fans are everything to football. The pride of their city or country equals the
pride of their football team.
A football game is not about sitting and quietly watching the game while eating hotdogs and peanuts...
it is a wild fiasco! The fans dress up in costumes and their team colors, they paint their faces and
bodies and sing songs in unison about their team. The stadiums are gigantic and chaotic. The
Maracana Stadium in Brazil is usually filled up to it s capacity with 220,000 screaming fans. Once,
many Brazilian fans fainted in the stands when they lost to Uruguay. The popularity of this sport also
has it s downsides. It has even been deadly. For instance, in 1969 the qualifying games between El
Salvador and Honduras caused a war between the 2 countries. There had been conflict between the
countries, but things boiled over when they clashed on the playing field, sparking a full scale war that
lasted 2 weeks.

The Texas Rangers Police System
The police system was created as a way to control the working class and black communities. Some
form of order started in the South during the time of slavery. Slave patrols were made of poor whites
and they were given the ability to punish slaves anyway they seem fit. Slave patrolling continued the
racist ideas that allowed white people to oppress black people. Another form of a police system in the
South were the Texas Rangers. Texas Rangers specifically targeted Native American, Latino and
Black groups in the South. After the rise of Industrialization, there was an emphasis on control of
classes in the North and West. Because of the need for laborers in factories, there was an increase in
immigration, especially from Europe. As a result

Edward continues to explain how Carlisle adopted each Cullen family member. The characters were
more discussed in the earlier paragraphs. Within the next couple days Bella was invited to meet
Edward s family. Edward picks up Bella and they go into the forest to play some baseball. She quickly

Estate Planning Attorney Essay
An estate planning attorney is a lawyer who specializes in helping clients get their affairs in order.
This may be driven by a mental disability or to simplify the client s affairs in case they die. Estate
planning requires more than just making a last will and testament. It is up to this attorney to help
mitigate estate taxes, create living trusts and protect the client s assets from creditors after their death.
While it costs money to hire an estate planning attorney, these lawyers can help save thousands or
millions of dollars in the future.
What Should You Look for in an Estate Planning Attorney?
Your estate planning attorney should be someone who has specialized knowledge about estate
planning. It is their job to help with health care directives, conservatorship issues, powers of attorney
and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A proactive approach to estate planning is key to saving you and your family money over the long run.
Estate plans are designed to protect assets in the event that something happens to you. From creating a
living trust to designating a guardian, an estate plan is the best way to protect your family. With an
estate plan, you can:
Lower Your Estate Taxes
One of the most obvious reasons to create an estate plan is to lower the taxes incurred by your
beneficiaries. A lawyer can help you use techniques like living trusts to avoid or reduce estate taxes.
As a result, your beneficiaries can inherit more of your estate without sending it in as taxes.
Skip the Costs of Probate Court
In some cases, your estate plan may help your property to skip the probate process entirely. Normally,
your entire property would go through probate court for months as it is distributed between your
beneficiaries. In addition to taking time, this process can be extremely expensive. There are ways to
avoid the costs of probate court, but you would have to make a good estate plan to do so.

  • 2. The Price Elasticity Of Demand Price elasticity of demand is defined as a measure of the responsiveness or sensitivity of consumers to changes in the price of a good or service (Thomas Maurice, 2012, pp. 199). Mathematically, the price elasticity of demand is calculated by dividing the percentage change in quantity demanded by the percentage change in price. Demand is said to be elastic whenever the absolute value of the percentage change in quantity demanded exceeds the percentage change in price, which means the absolute value of the elasticity would be greater than one. If the absolute value of the price elasticity of demand is less than one, the demand is said to be inelastic, or less sensitive to the price change. There are various factors that affect the price elasticity of products, in the following sections these factors will be applied to the demand of desktop computers. The first factor which is the most important determinant of price elasticity of demand is the availability of substitutes (Thomas Maurice, 2012, pp. 205). For any product where quality substitutes are readily available, the price elasticity of demand will be high. For example, if the price of desktop computers was to rise by 20%, the quantity of desktop computers demanded would most likely decrease by a greater percentage. This is because consumers could easily go out and purchase laptop computer or tablets to accomplish tasks for which they needed the desktop computer. Likewise, if the price of desktop computer ... • 3. Physical Activity And Brain Plasticity In the article Physical activity and brain plasticity in late adulthood by Kirk I. Erickson, PhD, Ariel G. Gildengers, MD and Meryl A Butters, PhD provides insight to research on the effects of physical activity on the human brain in late adulthood. The article provides and overview of cognitive functioning in older adults. The purpose of the research in the article is to demonstrate how physical activity and other risk factors such as education, obesity, smoking, hypertension, diabetes, and depression can contribute to the cognitive impairment of the brain thus increasing the risk of Alzheimer s disease, cardiovascular problems, and cancer in people over the age of 65. The research methods and design for the experiments provide insight to how researchers utilize biological measurements, observations of the human brain and the experimental research method. The method for each of the experiments are based on more than one experiment and validity of the outcome provides insight to basically the same outcome at the end of the article. To understand the underlying research methods it is important for this summary to include all of the different experiments and their outcomes. The purpose of the first experiment was to Establish molecular basis of physical activity on brain health (Erickson 1). The experiment on physical brain activity was conducted on rodents in order to determine the effects on learning and memory, neurotransmitter systems, metabolic and ... The only things that they were responsible for was to make meals, house chorus, and to care for the children. Men only had to work to maintain their families, be always right, and always gave inspiring moral advice. Since the family roles in the 1950 s were much more simple, many people believed that those were the best times to start a family. • 6. Red Flour Beetles Lab INTRODUCTION In this lab, the class discovered the effects of different substrates and stimuli on red flour beetles. Red flour beetles eat flour and other grains and the female beetle deposits her eggs on flour, cereal, dry pet food, or other similar products. The larvae hatch and then begin to eat the material around them. In the article Patch exploitation by Tribolium castaneum: Movement patterns, distribution, and oviposition , it says that most of the activity from red flour beetles is spent in food sources (Campbell and Hagstrum). There are many factors that affect the red flour beetles ability to survive or reproduce, like temperature, food source, stress, and genetics (Biology 159). In Humidity Reactions of Tribolium Castaneum (Herbst) , it states that red flour beetles are attracted to different substrates due to their nutritional levels and moisture level of the substrate (Willis and Roth). ... But as we continue in this post colonial world, the need to prove ourselves has only been higher. It has been over 60 years since we achieved independence and became a republic, we are yet to prove our potential to the world. The world s parameter to determine our capabilities are high, just as it ought to be to encourage each nation to develop to its fullest ability. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This idea in India became popular as it was to hope that it would strive to get rid of patronisation that the colonial and the Mughal powers catered to. Democracy was initiated in order to equate all citizens of this nation. We did this so that we had a situation where each one had the equal opportunity to grow. When we have a democracy as large as India, it is unthinkable to have corruption existing along its lines. The idea of democracy was to guide us away from the sinking boat and lead us through the darkest nights. It was the idea of emancipation that democracy brought within itself. But within the next couple of years, democracy was yet to bring in any of its promised propositions. Instead the ugly face of the opposite of democracy became popular yet again, that of patronage. We were back to square one; we had not yet evolved from our dark past. We were still stuck in it. We were a corrupt nation that allowed for deep inequality. Poverty and hunger continue to reel in the minds of our western counter parts when they imagined India. The patronage policy was set forth with the rise of Indira Gandhi in the late 1960 s and early 1970 s. It was a known fact that patronage would allow chief ministers to gain a position of power in the cabinet or any other position at the centre. Recently everyone has started hearing the out cry surrounding the problem of the degradationof the worlds ecosystems that have a negative effect on the biodiversity and the livelihoods of people worldwide. People are beginning to realise that that these bio systems can not be conserved just through the protection of critical areas alone. A new solution whos potential hasn t been fully taken advantage of until now is ecological restoration which is a process whereby not only the recovery of eco systems that have been degraded damaged or destroyed are looked at but also the human influences that surround them. In order for ecological restoration to be effective it needs to pay attention to four main aspects namely: Improvement of biodiversity conservation, Improvement of the livelihoods of people, The empowerment of the native and local people and The improvement of the productivity of the ecosystems. The difference between typical conservation where only the environment is considered and ecological restoration is that it has the potential to make opportunities available not only to repair the damage done to the ecosystems but also to improve the condition of the people involved in rescuing it. Because people belive they are helping themselfs ecological restoration has been able to alter the perspective of people in the local community, allowing new economic opportunities to form aswel as the rejuvinaton of traditional cultural practices. • 13. Tuckman s Stages Of Group Development Model A Study on Tuckman s Stages of Group Development Model 1. Introduction Over the past two decades, it seems that teamwork has become increasingly important and more companies have formed different teams and groups for various purposes (Samson Daft, 2012). It is proved that good teams can be highly productive, however, not every team is successful (Samson Daft, 2012). Forming a team can be time consuming and there are many problems related to teamwork, for example, social loafing might reduce the effectiveness of a team. Therefore, it is crucial to know how to develop a good team with less time and less effort. Bruce Tuckman in 1965 developed the popular model for effective team building. This model identifies four stages of team building which are forming, storming, norming and performing (Tuckman, 1965). Later on, Tuckman added a fifth stage: adjourning to the model (Samson Daft, 2012). The five stage team development model provides a guideline on how team works by using simple and easily understandable words. However, there are some limitations of this theory as well. This paper in the following will discuss both the utility and the limitations of Tuckman s team development stage model. Then it will provide some suggestions based on the limitations of the model. 2. • 14. Types Of An Equilibrium System STSE: Equilibrium Systems 1. Choose a process which uses an equilibrium system. How calcium oxalate kidney stones form in a human body? Calcium oxalate stones are the most common type of kidney stones to form. They are solid masses that form within the kidney because of a great amount of oxalate in one s urine and too little liquid. Oxalate is found in foods, and when the body is done processing the nutrients it requires from digestion, waste products travel to the kidneys. The kidneys make urine which removes these waste products, however if there are too many waste products present in too little liquid, there are crystals that form. Crystals will then stick together to form a kidney stone which can t get passed through and out of the body as urine. Crystals that are specific to kidney stones are formed of oxalate which sticks to calcium also found in the kidneys. The formation of calcium oxalate kidney stones is an equilibrium system. 2. Write the balanced equation for the system. CaC2O4 (s) ( removed HTML ) Ca2+(aq) + C2O42 (aq) The forward reaction for this reversible reaction shows calcium oxalate breaking down into calcium and oxalate ions. The reverse reaction is where calcium and oxalate ions form calcium oxalate kidney stones. 3. Explain the shifts that occur in this equilibrium using Le Chatelier s Principle. For example in AWOE, when Ged, a wizard, is on a mission to find the school for wizard, he says to the first townsman of Thwil Where he would find the Warder of the School on Roke (36). This shows that the book,AWOE, takes magic and teaches it to the character of the book. The character,Ged, wasn t just given powers but he had to go to a school of wizards to gain more knowledge to reach his full potential in his path to becoming a wizard. AWOE tries to express the fact that magic is taught, that the magical person was not handed power but had to learn spells. A example of how magic is not taught in LOTR, when the narrator states As for Bilbo Baggins, even while he was making his speech, he had been fingering the golden ring in his pocket: his magic ring that he had kept secret for so many years. As he stepped down he slipped it on his finger, and he was never seen by an hobbit in Hobbiton again (33). Unlike AWOE, the LOTR doesn t have magical people go to magical schools. Bilbo doesn t have any powers, he can t repeat a spell he is taught and boom something magical happens. In LOTR magic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The you have to see it to believe it mentality is a major aspect as to why people have a hard time understanding mental illness, and why in turn patients with mental illness have a hard time getting the help they need. In comparing the texts, Night Rhythms and The Yellow Wallpaper, these distinct differences between physical and mental illness are highlighted. The idea of not believing in what is not tangible is shown in the beginning of Night Rhythms, in the description of the woman s husband. It says, He scoffs openly at any talk of things not to be felt and seen and put down in figures (p. ) . This is significant because mental illness cannot always be felt, seen, or put down in figures. Society is more understanding and sympathetic of physical illness than mental illness. In these two texts, the illnesses described are cerebral palsy and postpartum depression. Cystic fibrosis is a congenital disease that affects motor skills. This is a physical illness. Postpartum depression occurs after a mother delivers her baby. After delivers, the hormone levels in the mother s body drop and this combined with sleep deprivation and new stress can leave the mother feeling very down. This is a mental illness. In Night Rhythms, Deans illness is described as he choked during birth, which means the rhythm of the contractions were wrong. His lungs opened too soon (p. 102) . It is ... In order for any a human being to survive they must communicate meaning that humans are very sociable. Communication is something that we have been learning since we were kids. It has become natural to communicate in all situations. We ve learned to communicate in writing. Due to technology becoming more advanced we not only write in the form of letters, but now we can send and write to communicate to other people by text messaging, emailing, public speaking, and non verbal communication. We have also learned to smile when we are happy, cry when the tough gets going, and scream when danger is near. Throughout the years we have become more aware of the things we say. We don t scream fire in a room full of people or we know that we don t talk to our teacher the way we would talk to our friends. As we get older we become apart of different groups. Without notice we become accustom to the rules, the way they communicate, and the ideas and interest of the group, also known as a discourse community. I myself belong to a discourse community. At the age of five, I discovered my passion. I knew then exactly what I know now, that I am in love with dance. There were people everywhere; they were rushing around hurriedly and frantically studying in cafés that lined the street. I turned down a side road to the front of a temple, where I saw homeless people sitting on the ground, holding their hands out for even ₩10 (a penny in US dollars). I walked further along onto the main road and found a mob of people protesting various things in the middle of the street. This scene of endless work, poverty, and injustice is found all over the world, not just in South Korea. With a world that consists of seeing so many terrible events happening daily, the world needs hope. One issue that reveals the need for hope is poverty. The 2015 Census found that 13.5% of America s population was in poverty, and this number has probably risen up even higher as years have passed by ( Current Poverty Rate ). There are so many people in the world who are stuck in poverty and may also feel resigned to being in poverty and not being able to do anything about it. Another issue that shows the need for hope is war. In between, there is a mixture of ones and zeroes breaking down in the column. This demonstrates that the items in this task are suitable to use to analyse students ability. However, there is an irregular pattern of 1 s and 0 s for the item 1.2. The less able students could get this skill while the more able students could not get it. Effects Of Imperialism On The Indian Economy Effects of Imperialism to the Indian Economy In 2015 India was ranked among the highest countries globally in consumer confidence, this comes after the International Monetary Fund estimated an economic growth of up to 7% annually for the next decade in India. But this hasn t always been the case, in fact, it wasn t so long ago that India was simply another colonized nation around the world, not to mention it s usually rare to see this kind of economic growth in such a small period of time. The Effects of globalization, with an emphasis on open trade networks, and the Imperial developments of the late 19th century have led to the emergence and rise of India s market based economy. This growth has been affected in a very positive way over a span of centuries by a combination of stronger economic developments brought about by a massive increase in the countries labor force and the emphasis on education and self governance. An exposure to both the Western economic systems during the imperial age until their independence in 1947 and their subsequent involvement in the Asian, Middle Eastern and African trade routes from the late 15th century placed India in an economic equilibrium where they were able to benefit from both worlds and become one of the fastest growing economies. They report a better performance to solve matchstick arithmetic following anodal stimulation over the right ATL whit cathodal over left ATL. Contrary to the Chi et al., in the current study, we found that anodal stimulation over the left but not right ATL enhanced the insight process using RAT. This discrepancy likely resulted from both differences in methodologies. In the Chi et al. study, participants performed a matchstick type problem during anodal over the right with cathodal tDCS over the letf ATL (1,6 mA, about 22 minutes). tDCS started 5 minutes before the task and was delivered ... • 41. The Science of Love The science of love When do you know if you fancy someone? What does love do to your brain chemicals, and is falling in love just nature s way to keep our species alive? We call it love. It feels like love. But the most exhilarating of all human emotions is probably nature s beautiful way of keeping the human species alive and reproducing. With an irresistible cocktail of chemicals, our brain entices us to fall in love. We believe we re choosing a partner. But we may merely be the happy victims of nature s lovely plan. | | It s not what you say...Psychologists have shown it takes between 90 seconds and 4 minutes to decide if you fancy someone.Research has shown this has little to do with what is said, rather * 55% is through body ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mating between prairie voles is a tremendous 24 hour effort. After this, they bond for life. They prefer to spend time with each other, groom each other for hours on end and nest together. They avoid meeting other potential mates. The male becomes an aggressive guard of the female. And when their pups are born, they become affectionate and attentive parents. However, another vole, a close relative called the montane vole, has no interest in partnership beyond one night stand sex. What is intriguing is that these vast differences in behaviour are the result of a mere handful of genes. The two vole species are more than 99% alike, genetically. Why do voles fall in love? The details of what is going on the vole story, as it were is a fascinating one. When prairie voles have sex, two hormones called oxytocin and vasopressin are released. If the release of these hormones is blocked, prairie voles sex becomes a fleeting affair, like that normally enjoyed by their rakish montane cousins. Conversely, if prairie voles are given an injection of the hormones, but prevented from having sex, they will still form a preference for their chosen partner. In other words, researchers can make prairie voles fall in love or whatever the vole equivalent of this is with an injection. A clue to what is happening and how these results might bear on the human condition was found when this magic juice was given to the montane vole: it made no difference. It ... • 42. Analysis Of Martin Luther King Letter From Birmingham Jail Martin Luther King, Jr. wrote a letter called, Letter from Birmingham Jail . This letter was written to clergymen who criticized his nonviolent approach. It was written in 1963 during the height of the Civil Rights movement. This letter s purpose is to show the way that King felt about his movement to create a more equal society than what he was living in and what he thought about his nonviolent acts contrary to the clergyman. In the beginning of this text, there is a letter from the clergymen that critiques the protest that King led. The clergymen essentially say that King s protest is unwise and there are better ways to fix the problem of racial friction. They write: Just as we formerly pointed out that hatred and violence have no sanction in our religious and political traditions, we also point out that such actions as incite to hatred and violence, however technically peaceful those actions may be, have not contributed to the resolution of our local problems.(372) The clergymen continue to state that the Negro community should completely stop participating in these protests and handle the issue in the courts. The rest of the text is King s response to the clergymen. He first states that the clergymen only mentioned the problem and not what caused it by writing: You deplore the demonstrations that are presently taking place in Birmingham. But I am sorry that your statement did not express as similar concern for the conditions that brought the demonstrations into being.(374) He is saying that they are complaining about the fact that they are protesting in their town, but really they should be thinking about what they are doing to cause these protests. If they were doing something to prevent the segregation that is being protested then they would also be preventing the protests. King then goes on to talk about the segregation in Birmingham and he writes, On the basis of these conditions, Negro leaders sought to negotiate with the city fathers. But the political leaders consistently refused to engage in good faith negotiation (375). Here King is responding to the clergymen and how they told the Negroes to solve their protests in the courts. He is stating here that the Negro community has tried that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Investopedia) The bursting of the housing bubble was imminent. Defaults on subprime mortgages were at a seven year high. The stock market had its biggest single day drop in five years on March 13. In the post earnings conference call, Lehman s chief financial officer (CFO) said that the risks posed by rising home delinquencies were well contained and would have little impact on the firm s earnings. He also said that he did not foresee problems in the subprime market spreading to the rest of the housing market or hurting the U.S. economy. Lehman Brothers underwrote the most mortgage backed securities, gaining a portfolio four times that of its shareholders equity at 85 billion dollars. At the end of 2007 in the fourth quarter, Lehman s stocks rebounded. The firm however, did not take that opportunity to reduce its large mortgage portfolio. In 1994, over 1 billion people watched the World Cup, and the events leading up to it. The fans are everything to football. The pride of their city or country equals the pride of their football team. A football game is not about sitting and quietly watching the game while eating hotdogs and peanuts... it is a wild fiasco! The fans dress up in costumes and their team colors, they paint their faces and bodies and sing songs in unison about their team. The stadiums are gigantic and chaotic. The Maracana Stadium in Brazil is usually filled up to it s capacity with 220,000 screaming fans. Once, many Brazilian fans fainted in the stands when they lost to Uruguay. The popularity of this sport also has it s downsides. It has even been deadly. For instance, in 1969 the qualifying games between El Salvador and Honduras caused a war between the 2 countries. There had been conflict between the countries, but things boiled over when they clashed on the playing field, sparking a full scale war that lasted 2 weeks. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
