2. From Web Services to Semantic Web Services
Adding semantics to Web services will change the way you use these
services in your applications, and more specifically, the goal is to
automatically discover the requested service, invoke it, composite
different services to accomplish a given task, and automatically monitor
the execution of a given service
3. WEB SERVICE AND WEB SERVICE STANDARDS
Web services architecture
The service provider sends a WSDL
file to UDDI
The service requester contacts UDDI
to find out who is the provider for the
data it needs, and then it contacts the
service provider using the SOAP
protocol
The service provider validates the
service request and sends structured
data in an XML file, using the SOAP
protocol
18. Elements in a WSDL Document
We have now finished examining the generated WSDL document, which carefully
provides all the information that might be needed by a client who wishes to invoke the
service.
Later, we will make changes to this document to convert the underlying Web service
into a Semantic Web service
