There are 3 parties in a trade secrets case in China - Pfizer (the client), AppTec (the R&D company), and Wu Guang (a former AppTec employee). Wu Guang stole hard disks from AppTec containing trade secrets being developed for Pfizer. He was later fired but still disclosed 89 chemical structures from the hard disks online and started his own company. AppTec reported Wu Guang to the police, who investigated and found that the chemical structures met the criteria to be considered trade secrets. Wu Guang was sentenced to 3 and a half years in prison and fined for infringing trade secrets. The case shows the importance of protecting trade secrets, reporting theft immediately, and having strong evidence like confidentiality
