Aggregate Demand and Supply Model
Aggregate Demand and Supply Model Economic Advisement With a nominal GDP estimated at more
than 15 trillion it is clearly the United States economy is one of the largest in the world. A person must
have lived in a cave underground for the past several years to not know that the current state of the
nation s economy is in desperate need of improvement. Many academic institutions have thought
about how the economy arrived at its current state and how can it be restored. Some would advocate
not using the same economic policies that created the current conditions of the economy. Their
philosophy is that if we stay the current course the economy would somehow miraculously recover
itself over a period of an unknown amount of time. These same ... Show more content on

Consumer Income: Consumer income is an estimate of household income and is the government s
way of determining the median income of families; obviously the income is a key indicator of
consumer confidence. According to new data derived from the monthly Current Population Survey
(CPS) and ERSI, real median annual household income decreased by 7.9 % between 2010 and 2012,
from $54,442 to $50,157 (Smartblog.org, 2012). The current decline in consumer income comes after
four consecutive monthly decreases in real median annual household income. The annual household
income suggested that the Population Survey report takes into account that some information reflects
modifications made as part of annual benchmarking adjustments to compensate for missing data
needed to complete the survey. The report also suggests that the economy will continue to struggle
slightly despite some encouraging news on unemployment (Smartblo.org, 2012). But it is expected
that the median household income will increase by 13.4% or $56,895 by 2017 as the economy
improve. Interest rates: Interest rates are the most important relative prices of an economy. These
influence the decisions of investors and consumers. They also determine the level of income and
employment in an economy. They are indicators that guide consumers when they should invest and
when they should save. Interest rates determine the present and future consumption. If these are set at
very low levels in real terms and even worse if

Elmer Boyd Staats and the Pursuit of Good Government
Kathe Callahan
Public Administration Review: March/April 2006; 66, 2; ProQuest
Callahan s Administrative profile of Elmer Boyd Staats, provides a summary of the transformative
organizational changes under Staats leadership during his fifteen year appointment as the head of the
General Accounting Office. Addressing what Callahan identifies as the pursuit of good government.
Elmer Boyd Staats embarked on a career as a public servant spanning six plus decades. During this
time, Staats public service to our country encompassed ten administrations His formative years were
shaped by growing up during the depression and living in the Kansas wheat belt (Callahan, p.160, para

Discussions around the three way aspect of accountability, the role of financial accountability,
managerial accountability, and program accountability (Callahan, p. 164). A perfect example presented
itself, during President Johnson s Great Society Program. Congress wanted to gage the performance of
government programs. The GAO, set about examining all of the anti poverty programs, and 9 months
later, provided over 60 reports. The GAO provided evidence, some programs worked, others provided
little change, and programs that made the problem worst. All of the effort, and patients paid off for

Analysis Of Guiding Mirrors In Jane Eyre
Guiding Mirrors In the novel Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë, Bertha serves as a primary obstacle in the
novel, as her marriage to Rochester is a hindrance to Jane s emotional fulfillment and happiness.
Bertha is depicted as a violent and insane woman who is kept hidden in an attic throughout the novel.
Bertha s rage eventually leads her to burn Thornfield, in which Rochester loses an eye and severely
injures himself. Despite the portrayal of Bertha as an inherently monstrous figure, it almost seems as
though oppression by a male dominated society has fueled the destructive rage she comes to embody
in the novel. This rage in Bertha is a manifestation of Jane s passion and independent nature, which
seems to serve as a guiding force for Jane on her journey towards autonomy. Through the ominous
characterization of Bertha coupled with the positive impact her actions have on Jane, Brontë explores
gender inequality in an Victorian era and seems to suggest that passionate and independent women in
male dominated environments are deprived of their femininity and may even be dehumanized. Bertha
s presence acts as an obstacle for Rochester and Jane s marriage, and therefore a hindrance to Jane s
quest for emotional fulfillment. Brontë achieves an obstructive characterization of Bertha by using
animal imagery to describe her throughout the novel. In fact, one of the very first descriptions of
Bertha reveals she has a savage face with lips swelled and dark and bloodshot eyes who

The Destructive Nature Of Jealousy In Shakespeare s Othello
Throughout Othello, the destructive nature of jealousy plays a major role in determining the dreadful
end of the play. Most of the jealousy which is seen stems from Iago; Othello s most trusted and honest
advisors.
One of the first pieces of evidence we receive of Iago s motives for his hatred for Othello is when he
tells Roderigo that Emilia (Iago s wife) may have committed adultery with Othello. (1.3.330).
Although it is nothing more than a ridiculous rumor, Iago immediately believes it to be true, and starts
to plan his revenge. Once jealousy strikes, he loses all common sense, and doesn t even confront his
wife about it.
Another important part of the play that shows the chaos of jealousy is when Iago starts to work his
master plan. Iago talks to Othello about Desdemona and Cassio after encountering them... O beware,
my Lord, of jealousy (3.3.194). Using his superior intellect, Iago was able to turn a perfectly normal
situation into Othello s worst nightmare. He tells Othello to beware of jealousy, which is ironic
because the ultimate goal of the conversation is to make him jealous. Iago successfully injects the drug
that is jealousy into Othello, eventually turning him into the enraged man that he is at the end. ... Show

During this scene, Othello thinks that Cassio is talking about Desdemona, but in reality is talking
about a courtesan named Bianca. This moment was the actual evidence of Desdemona s infidelity that
Othello was asking for. After finally being convinced of his wife s actions, all Othello can mutter is..
Do you triumph, Roman, do you triumph . ( 4.1.137). Listening to Cassio talk about his Desdemona
like a whore completely ruins Othello, and after Cassio leaves Othello gives the kill order on Cassio

The Pros And Cons Of Utilitarianism
Many societies seem to be teetering in prosperity, which causes anxiety about future for many
individuals. Some call for a society to run on the principle of utility, others call for individual freedom
to be the prime drive to a society, while others call for the collective participation of all the members
of a society to promote its just existence. A good, functional society must do more than the ideas
promoted by utilitarianism and liberalism, it must cultivate good citizens through the process of
involvement in the community and debate on moral issues.
The two ideas which fall short in their ability to form a just society are utilitarianism and freedom
based theories. In utilitarianism, the main goal is the maximization of happiness for ... Show more

In the beginning of America, close communities were founded in which everyone either could or had
to participate. Present America holds many individuals which, by one way or another, have passed the
civic duties of a citizen and involvement in the politics of their society on to the governing body over
them. The American dream includes a personal collection of material goods and comforts instead of
good citizen characteristics. Social media involves little deep conversations and is instead comprised
of superficial, quick communications. With bonds no longer being available in a public way, the
pursuit of personal success and the pursuit of fulfillment of feeling only allow for private connections
at most. Bellah warns, the culture of separation, if it ever became completely dominant, would
collapse of its own incoherence (281). Bellah encourages religion as a source of connection in a
community where individuals are encouraged to give back to their communities instead of focusing on
themselves. What Bellah describes that truly destroys a society is not wars, it is inactivity: we have put
our own good, as individuals, as groups, as a nation, ahead of the common good (285). A test is put on
society observing the way in which they handle wealth and poverty extremes which cannot exist in a
just society. Giving up our individualism does not mean our

The Plight Of The Immigrant Farmer Worker Essay
Bernard Lange Professor Byrne Composition I, English 1510 November 20, 2016 The Plight of the
Immigrant Farm Worker Have you ever wondered how really bad it is to be an immigrant farm
worker? The article In the Strawberry Fields by Eric Scholsser, he looks at the hardships that face
immigrant farmers. Though there are laws to try and help the immigrants Schlosser observed The
temptation to break the law can be great. The punishments for doing so are rarely applied (86). From
sharecropping and low wages to deplorable living conditions the farmers take advantage of immigrant
workers at nearly every turn. Enforcing the laws will help improve immigrant farmers working and
living conditions. Sharecropping is one way the famers take advantage of the immigrants,
sharecropping is the most insidious means by which growers avoid responsibility for their workers
(Schlosser 86). The farmer would lease a portion of their land to the sharecropper. By doing so the
immigrant sharecropper would then be responsible for just about every aspect of the farm operation.
In effect he would become a pseudo farmer, but in the end would really hold no power or land.
Sharecroppers lease the land from the farmer. The farmers will lend the money to run the farm to the
sharecropper at a very high interest rate. Schlosser notes, under the old arraignment, if things went
wrong, sharecroppers simply would not be paid for their work; under the new one, they are being
saddled with thousands

Automation and Intelligence Have Changed Agriculture
Agricultural production has increased manifold due to the advent of automation and intelligence in
various stages of a crop s life cycle. Introduction of such processes has led to a significant increase in
the output and reduction in the costs incurred in manual labour and other farm equipment. A scheme
where machine vision is implemented can be used to perceive the position of a fruit for harvesting.
This technology has been used to develop both land and aerial based systems for fruit detection and
harvesting. Machine vision in harvesting is broadly based on visual cues and properties of fruit.
Machine vision based systems have an advantage as apart from recognition of colour, texture and
shape of any object, numerical points for the object are also defined.
The aim of fruit detection is characterized by the following desirable outcomes:
1. Detection of each distinct fruit.
2. Discrimination of the detected fruit from the other parts of the foliage.
3. Localisation of the fruit.
Since its implementation to crop harvesting and other agricultural practices, a lot of attention has been
given to development in machine vision systems to achieve the abovementioned outcomes. But, all of
it has been limited to the field of research with very little commercial outlook. Though, research
outcomes may look bleak, it is a well accepted fact that to achieve very good incidences of fruit
detection a robust machine vision system is essential. This in turn will develop into a robot

Native American Clothing Research Paper
Clothing is a very important part when dealing with who you are. The clothing people wear is what
sets them apart from everyone else. What is worn today is way different from what the Native
Americans wore a long time ago. When Indians wore clothes and accessories, they did not wear what
they wore for the fun of it. They wore what they wore because of their beliefs and religion and
climate, and available resources. Many tribes had different beliefs so that would imply that they all did
not wear the same exact things. Today I will be talking about the clothing of three tribes, the Eskimo,
Iroquois, and Navajo. First off are the Eskimo tribe. The name Eskimo is not the name they gave

the decorations they did like using porcupine quills and hair of a moose. Woman had a wide variety of

some woman wore their hair a particular way for a reason. If you were not married, you wore your

the same too. Many men would cut the sides of their hair and leave the rest so they can have a

The Handmaid s Tale Essay
Paula Hawkins, a well known British author, once said, I have lost control over everything, even the
places in my head. In Margaret Atwood s futuristic dystopia The Handmaid s Tale, a woman named
Offred feels she is losing control over everything in her life. Offred lives in the Republic of Gilead. A
group of fundamentalists create the Republic of Gilead after they murder the President of the United
States and members of Congress. The fundamentalists use the power to their advantage and restrict
women s freedom. As a result, each woman is assigned a specific duty to perform in society. Offred s
husband and child are taken away from her and she is now forced to live her life as a Handmaid.

ways that I am not; I want to be more than valuable. I repeat my former name; to remind myself of
what I once could do, how others saw me (Atwood 97). Offred is emotionally run down. She misses
her husband Luke and the way he made her feel. Offred spends most of her days wondering about her
husband Luke, and daughter. She wonders if her husband is dead, made it across the Canadian border,
or was captured. Although Offred never finds out Luke s life status, Serena Joy offers to tell Offred
some information regarding her daughter. Consequently, Offred must sleep with Nick and conceive a
child in spite of receiving the information. As long as the Commander believes he is the father of
Offred s child, no problems will arise. Offred s decision is unconventional and risky, both for herself
and Nick. If Nick and Offred are caught, they will be executed. However, her unorthodox decision
pays off. Serena Joy obtains a photograph of Offred s daughter and informs Offred that her daughter is
now around eight years old and has been adopted by a family loyal to the regime. Offred is informed
that her daughter is alive and in safe care. The new information provides Offred with a sense of relief.
By agreeing to conceive a child with Offred, Nick is acting in an unorthodox

Kawena s hair stood on end, a shiver raced down her spine and a lump came to her throat. It was her
maroon dress that went missing. It really was the dress. However, Kawena could not let the dress

normal dress, but there is a story behind the dress. Kawena got the dress from her mother. Her mother
gave it to her as a gift. In addition, Kawena s mother got the dress from her mother (Kawena s
grandmother). Kawena s grandmother was a singer back in high school. In Kawena s grandmother

Inside of the school, there were many students. Some students formed a small group, as well as the

Kawena does not like The Mean Girls group because of the way they treated others. For instance, The

My Reading Project On North On Freedom By Anne Holm.i Essay
I did my reading project on North to Freedom by Anne Holm.I enjoyed reading this book because of
its marvelous descriptions and scenery. I have never read a book from cover to cover because I lacked
the interest in reading. This made me extremely nervous about this project because my reading
comprehension level wasn t really high. I was afraid of making a bad grade. It s never been an
enjoyment to me. This book being the first that I ve read, has taught me more than just the events that
went on throughout the story. Im quite proud of myself for finishing this book because I Thought I
would never have the patience to do so. I thought this book was a great read. I would mainly like to
thank you for helping me choose this book because it had wonderful detail and was quite easy to
follow along to. All I know is I wanted something fiction, but I only knew of a few authors that wrote
big time books and series. I had no idea what to look for. I am also proud of myself for finishing this
book. I find it hard to finish books on my own time and that s why I never did. Yet, being forced to
read made me finish it, and in the end I got a little bit of enjoyment out of it. Without the great
descriptions of the scenery and chronological events, this book would have been quite boring and hard
to read. The author did a splendid job of clearly describing each event thoroughly enough to make it
almost like I was in David s shoes. My favorite part of the book was when David got off the

Moral Philosophies In Business
Moral philosophies provide a guide on how conflicts in businesses are settled. They also assist in
optimizing mutual benefits of individual in a business setup. There is no single manner of solving
ethical issues in businesses and each type of moral philosophy provides a distinct source of
determining whether a certain act is right or wrong. Although there are different sources of
determining whether an act is wrong or right, each type of moral philosophy provides a similar
appropriate outcome. Utilitarianism, for example, follows that an act is moral if it yields the greatest
good for the greatest number. In this case the determination of whether an act is right or wrong
depends on whether the consequences resulting from the act affects everyone an d not just a single
individual. Utilitarianism requires the determination of alternatives regarding the act or situation,
estimation of benefits of the action to all individuals in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Moral philosophies create an avenue for the assessment of a business especially with respect to
matters that concern economic science. These views are likely to depict views that are founded on
moral decisions and results in policies which are based on better choices. The application of moral
philosophies by a business inspires the business and other entities to examine whom they conduct
business with. Additionally, moral philosophies inspire business managers and executives to adopt
more socially responsible organizational practices in order to stay relevant in the global environment.
Moral philosophies adopted by a business also provide a basis for the development of public
perception of the business. The way a business is viewed by other business entities is largely
dependent on the moral philosophies adopted by the business. Adoption of appropriate moral
philosophies by an organization is important in the improvement of the businesses public

Sarah Kane Crave Analyse
My over arching idea for my production of Crave is that I want to give the play some context while
also maintaining the theme that these characters could represent anyone. The reason I want to give the
play some background is because on my first read of the play, before I read the Saunders article in
which Sarah Kane talks about the relationships between C and A, and B and M, a lot of the themes of
the play were lost on me because I was so focused on trying to figure out what was going on. I know
Sarah Kane didn t want the characters to get stuck in specific categories, but by establishing
relationships between the characters I think the audience will be able to focus more on what the
characters are saying and less on trying to discern what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I don t want the rest of the stage to be dark though, as that would isolate the characters when I want
them to talk to each other, so the rest of the stage is slightly dimmer then the spots. The tone and color
of the fill lights changes slightly throughout the show, following the color changes of the cyclorama.
The cyc is my central design element for the show. When I read Crave, it seemed to me that the play
was divided into different emotional sections, and I want to use the cyc to reflect that. When the lights
come up after the characters enter, I want the cyc to be a medium dark purple, which I think helps give
the feeling that the play is taking place in the city, which is what I gathered from the dialogue. The
purple should be dark enough that it gives the audience a sense of unease, as each of the characters
relate depressing tales and talk heatedly with one another. When A begins his speech, I want the cyc to
fade into a bright amber that assaults the audience s eyes when it first appears. This symbolizes how
upon first glance, A s speech appears happy and innocent, which the color yellow is associated with,
but that yellow is tainted with something darker and sinister, making it amber. Then, when C mentions
being raped, I want the cyc to fade to a scarlet red, because this I think this marked the transition to the
most violent part of the play. Then when C says, No one can hate me more than myself , I want the
cyc to start transitioning to a medium blue. As the play continues, I want that blue to get continually
darker, symbolizing the characters sinking into despair. When B says Kill me , I want the cyc and all
of the lights to fade away, implying that the characters have passed away. Then for the last few lines of
the play, I want just the cyc to light up bright white, so you can only see the actors silhouettes. I want

The Performance Of The 2016 Mlb Season
The 2016 MLB season has seen a lot of great teams rise to the occasion and shine like champions, but
only one team will be crowned the champion. We have made it to the final quarter of the season and
some teams are nowhere to be found and other teams seem almost ready for the postseason. At the half
way mark of the season, teams like the San Francisco Giants and Chicago Cubs, were the favorites,
but that has changed. There are new teams in the race like the Cleveland Indians, Texas Rangers, and
Los Angeles Dodgers. Not to mention teams like the Toronto Blue Jays and Washington Nationals that
might not be getting as much attention, but are definitely in the conversation for favorites to win the
World Series. Unfortunately, a lot of teams have started to decline, maybe because of injuries or
simply they haven t been playing as well as they did in the first half. Teams like the Kansas City
Royals were supposed to defend their title, but inevitability fell short of that and are now in 3rd place
in the AL Central with 9.5 GB of the Cleveland Indians. There have been many storylines and there
will probably be more regarding the rise and fall of teams until we reach the postseason. I think a team
to point out is the Los Angeles Dodgers because ever since the end of the first half of the season, they
have been one of the best team in the majors, without Kershaw. The Los Angeles Dodgers went from
51 40 with 6.5 GB of the San Francisco Giants, who were the best team heading into

The Tale Of The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
Once upon a time, a poor peasant lived with his seven quarreling sons in a cozy cottage amidst the
enveloping woods. All of the peasant s sons had an extremely cold heart and a selfish mind except the
youngest, Lumio. He was different. A charming boy he was; an outgoing personality he possessed.
And of course, his older brothers, especially Fuscus, grew more and more envious of him until one
day, they succumbed to the envy as they could take it no more. You see, all the brothers loved an
enchanting princess who ruled over their small plot of land. Day after day, and night after night, they
cared only about the princess and none other. They saw their youngest brother as a vexing, immediate
hindrance to their already slim chances of impressing the so desired princess as they feared that if the
princess met Lumio, the couple would forever be knit, and so, the story continues. Frustrated, the
jealous brothers devised a wicked, desperate plot to rid themselves of their annoying hindrance, their
brother. Fuscus, the oldest brother, spoke. Have you heard of the deep, dank well beyond the wood?
Legend has it that the well is cursed to be the lair of the Golden Devil. What say? And so, the next
day, Lumio and his brothers walked to the well in silence. A repeated, resonating caw from a raven
made even Fuscus himself turn cold with fear as if it was a glaring reminder of the terrible deed he
would perform very soon. Closer and closer the well drew, each step, a mile. Poor Lumio

England s Demographic Changes During The Industrial...
England s experience with change in demographic is one that is almost entirely based on pure simple
cause and effect. For them everything was basically stemmed from a need. No matter which model
one chooses to use as the basis of one came because of the other either there was a larger population
which required more or, there was more money and people felt more comfortable in having more
children. Under either model it stems all from economic reasons. France experienced demographic
change in the industrial revolution entirely different from the English. France in general was a country
that had a much more complicated social structure than England. (Cobban, p. 163) While it can be

In 1792 a divorce law was created that was for both men and women, this law allowed for more or less
divorce on demand for either party for any reason. This along with it becoming more common to use
condoms and their more widespread availability were other key societal factors in keeping their
birthrates much lower than the other countries. Along with this idea also is the fact that since French
peasants believed in primogeniture meaning the oldest son inherited all the land and the younger sons
lived mostly as just celibate permeant farm hands. Therefore, it was in the French peasants best
interest to try and have as few kids as possible so as to not have this problem. (Urdank, Lecture 15)
However, as progressive as France may have been with them trying to keep their birthrates lower for
many reasons it did indeed have its drawbacks. Due to these facts they were one of the countries who
industrialized much later than others around them. (Urdank, Lecture 15) This is a fact that many
French writers to this very day look rather regretfully on. (Wrigely, p. 71) However, due to their later
industrialization France was able to keep their artisan culture as well as remain far more rooted in
smaller time agriculture. (Urdank, Lecture

Selfishness In A Monster Calls By Patrick Ness
Selfishness, a quality that best shines in times of isolation, forces others to become aware of one s
need for attention. Patrick Ness portrays this trait in A Monster Calls in a way that makes the readers
realize that the burden of a secret is too great for anyone of any age to carry. Conor O Malley is
thirteen, but his experiences and hardships are ones that those who are beyond their years have not
necessarily needed to overcome. Taking into account his mother s worsening condition, he does not
want to let his surroundings affect him more than they already have. Under the influence of the
Monster, Conor allows himself to act in accordance to his situation instead of keeping everything to
himself without an outlet for his emotions. Conor s selfishness, which is seen throughout the novel,
affects his interactions with others in drawing out their flaws. To retaliate against his father, Lily and
his grandma for putting him in situations that cause him suffering, Conor must act in this selfish
manner regardless of the consequences.
Beginning with his father, Conor witnesses how a parent can be unwilling to give their all for their
children and acts selfishly in order to make him aware of this fact. He faces a reality of life at the time
of his parent s divorce; there was nothing he could do to keep them together. As a result, the bond he
has with his father is imperfect. There is a clear barrier between the two that emerges from the
distance that separates them. Even as Conor yearns for a proper parent figure in his life, he is unable to
have one and he allows himself to act selfishly towards his father because he will eventually be the
only parent Conor has left. By confessing to his father that he does not want to live with grandma
(Ness, 88) and asking his father questions about why can t [he] come and live with (Ness, 88) him,
Conor wants his father to own up to his responsibilities as a parent. Despite being aware his wishes
will not be granted, but he wants his father to realize how less he commits to caring for his son when
he needs him the most. If all his father wants to do is make promises to only break them, then he
might as well push his father to his limits and demand things from him regardless

Tender Offer Play
In the short play, Tender Offer by Wendy Wasserstein, is a drama play about a father and daughter s
relationship. Paul is a 35 year old businessman, who puts work before anyone and isn t around much
for his daughter Lisa. Lisa is a nine year old girl who is all alone in the dance studio after her father
missed her dance recital. Lisa and Paul don t spend enough family time together since he is always too
busy with work. This leads to Lisa not wanting to spend time with him since she feels as though he
neglected her. In the beginning of the play there is tension right away when Lisa s father Paul finally
shows up after missing her dance recital. He tries to tell Lisa that he was sorry he was late (pg. 816),
tries to joke around with her and be friendly since he missed her dance recital. Even though he is
trying to make Lisa feel better, she just isn t falling for it. She feels though that he neglected her. She

thought he could just apologize to her and that everything would work out, but when that didn t work
he tried something else. He tried to be more friendly with her and joke around but that still wasn t
doing the trick. He ends up making Lisa a tender offer which leads to him asking Lisa, if she d show

Education Reform Across The World
As with most things in society, there is never one right way to approach an issue, and education
reform across the world is one of the many examples that prove this to be true. Over time, there has
been a growing importance on the quality of education across the globe, which is measured through
standardized testing. This new way to measure the quality of education students are getting has grown
to create high competition among the countries as each strives to obtain the highest ranking country
title. However, not all countries are able to compete, let alone test at all, as they are much less
economically stable and usually have a very poor education system in place. While students in the
United States or China are spending many sleepless nights preparing for one of their many
examinations, children in Ghana or Brazil are struggling to merely find a way to both get an education
and help to support their family. The countries that are a part of the developing world are all very
diverse, however many share similar defining characteristics and face similar problems in their
education system. These nations are typically those that were colonized by western nations and now
suffer extreme economic polarization and political instability as a result. Their economies are often
based on agriculture and the extraction of natural resources, which causes problems as they are
exporting goods of a lower value and importing goods of a higher value. Since all of their focus is on

Childhood Obesity Policy Essay
One Health and Social Care Policy which I am going to critically review is the childhood obesity
policy. The 2010 2015 government policy: Obesity and Healthy Eating was updated in May 2015 and
states many ways for improvements to be made. The purpose of this policy is to try to reduce the
amount of unhealthy foods children eat in the UK.
A key factor of health in later life is childhood obesity. Childhood obesity is a medical condition
where excess body fat negatively affects a child s health or well being. Medical conditions are not the
only factor which causes children to be obese it is the parental/family influences as well. Family
influences on children are a huge factor because when children are younger they eat what the parent s
eats which can determine what the child ends up eating.

Fossil Fuels In The US
Fossil fuels such as oil, coal, and natural gas provide the U.S. with over 80 percent of its energy
supply (McNerney Cheek, 2012). Fossil fuels, formed from organic materials over the course of many
centuries, have fueled the global and U.S. economic development for the past two centuries.
Nonetheless, fossil fuels are finite resources that cause irreversible harm to the environment. Scientists
consider them nonrenewable forms of energy since they take hundreds of years to form. According to
Rand (2010), fossil fuels were responsible for 79 percent of the greenhouse emissions in 2010. Poor
efficiency practices and higher energy demands have increased the usage of fossil fuels, and it is now
important to find substitute means of generating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Energy efficiency has a variety of benefits: lowering cost on both household and economical levels,
reducing demand for energy imports, and fewer greenhouse emissions. Although renewable energy
technologies help to accomplish these objectives of reducing the utilization of fossil fuels, the
cheapest, and often most immediate, is improving energy efficiency. There are considerable
opportunities for improving the efficiency in almost all sectors of the economy, whether it is transport,
energy generation, buildings, or industry. Most typical cars consume fossil fuels. Choosing alternative
forms of transport other than running a personal car saves on the fossil fuel. Alternative forms of
transport in America include train, subway system, or bus. Moreover, taking public transport does not
only save on fossil fuels but it also allows one to concentrate on other things such as reading.
Additionally, the best way of being independent of fossil fuels is driving less. Bicycle riding or
walking reduces the utilization of fossil fuels; it is cheap, good for the environmental, and

Imagine if you were walking down the aisle on your wedding day which is meant to be the best day

II.OBSTACLES IN WIRELESS SENSOR SECURITY
Wireless sensor nodes[2] have limited resources such as limited memory and limited power. There is
unreliable communication in wireless sensor network that leads to threat to sensor security. The
security of network depend on communication which relies on protocol.
Energy Constraint: Energy requires converting input to output (sensor transducer), communication
among the sensor nodes and computation. Security levels depend upon the cost of energy.
Memory Limitations: Sensor nodes have small amount of memory and storage. Sensor nodes require
simple algo rithms because they do not have enough space to store complicated algorithms and
executed them.
Unreliable communication: Unreliable communication occurs due to unreliable transfer, conflict and
latency. Unreliable communication occurs due to connectionless packet based routing in wireless

thousand dollars investment in health care costs. (Thompson) Needle exchange program provide
safety not only in drug addicts but also provide safety in the community. Many of needle exchange
programs perform a one for one basis to decrease the exposure of contaminated needles in streets and
playgrounds so that children and other people are away from needle sticks accident. (Franciscus) On

The Robber Bridegroom Short Story
oth The Robber Bridegroom and The Trespasser are revised from its original versions. The novel of
The Robber Bridegroom by Welty is based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale. In Campbell s short story
The Trespasser draws from the tale of Goldilocks and The Three Bears which was originated by the
Robert Southey. In each work, there are similarities as well as changes that are made for significant
reasons all related to folklore in which the context changes to better suit the audience. There are of
course simple differences between Grimm and Welty s portrayals of The Robber Bridegroom. One
inconsistency is that Rosamund in Welty s book is the daughter of a planter and in the other version
the daughter of a miller. Although they are similar in plot as she must marry a rich man; whom she
doesn t know much about then follows him into the woods where she is either threatened to be killed
or kept as a servant. There are more complex changes within the two Robber Bridegroom stories. In
the Grimm version, the bride is seen as a helpless pawn. They story piles together foreshadowing
signs of meetings with the bridegroom and the annihilation of the body, and the witnessing of the
terrible fate of the substitute bride. There is also a difference in each ending in reference to the robber
s fate. In Grimm s version, the robber is outed by the presence if the finger from Rosamund s pocket
and then executed for his wicked deeds. While in Welty s version the story ends in marriage, with

Guatemala Country Analysis Paper
Country Overview
Guatemala is located in Central America, bordering the North Pacific Ocean, El Salvador, Mexico,
Honduras and Belize. It is the most populous country in Central America with an estimated population
of around 15.47 million.
Guatemala used to be the center of the Maya culture during the first millennium A.D. In 1523, Spanish
came to this land, destroyed the Maya culture, and made it become a colony for around 300 years. In
1821, Guatemala won its independence. This country suffered a 36 year civil war during the second
half of last century, which killed more than 200,000 people and created about 1 million refugees. In

The civil war which ended in 1996 left the country deeply fragmented. Land rights issues still exist,
with 1.2 percent of the population owning 60 percent of the land. The current housing deficit in
Guatemala is over 1.8 million homes. Not enough homes are being built, and many people who have
homes lack legal claim to the land or live in inadequate shelter threatened by severe weather, theft or
eviction. In addition, homes often have insufficient space or lack access to basic services.
In Guatemala, remittances could be a source of financing for the purchase of a home when basic
consumption is fulfilled. Another source of financing is mortgage. The government housing agency,
FHA, guarantees about 50% of total mortgages loans. The housing price in Guatemala rises when the
mortgage lending grows. Most local banks in Guatemala relies on short term deposits to fund their

Industrial Age Model Summary
Grant Lichtman compares 2 types of learning environments, ecosystem verses industrial. He describes
the ecosystem to be creative, adaptive, permeable, dynamic, systemic, and self correcting; where the
industrial age model is contained, controlled, predictable, scalable, repeatable, and measurable. He
explains that today we are now living in a global ecosystem that consisted of 4 spheres, a fifth sphere
is currently evolving known as the cognitosphere, which is the system of knowledge creation and
management. Many individuals have access to this sphere around the world through cell phones. He
continues to expand about how if we want to reach the 21st century learner we need to remove three
things from the industrial age model: anchors, dams, and silos. He describes how anchors are our
egotistical time, space, and subject; dams are how college boards and college admissions want us to

Use of Non Lethal Weapons by Law Enforcement.
The use of less lethal force by law enforcement personnel started in the 1960s during the civil rights
and anti war movements (Wilson 218). These movements assisted tin creating situations in which
large groups of people were coming into contact with law enforcement. Given the emotional status to
these situations, violent encounters started becoming more widespread. As such, less lethal methods of
crowd/riot control became the focus for law enforcement. At the time, chemical agents/irritants were
the most frequently used method to control riots. Other less than lethal weapons, but not limited to are,
wooden, rubber, and bean bag bullets/rounds, were also being introduced, but given restrictions on law
enforcement budgets, these suffered from the lack of testing before being used.
However, the term non lethal is and has been used by most manufacturers to describe these types of
weapons. It is significant to distinguish that the term less lethal is more suitable, as there has been an
unknown number of unreported and reported deaths following the use of these weapons. Although the
less lethal options offer a safer substitute to the traditional use of force, it would be hard to create any
weapon as less then lethal under all situations, given the many different situations that these methods
may be used in.
The two primary uses of force principles are common

The At The Graph, There Been Fluctuations On The Price Of...
From looking at the graph, there have been fluctuations in the share price from the 24th September
2014 till 5th November 2014. For a week from the 8th October 2014, the share prices have dropped.
This could have been due to a decrease in revenue. As a result, this may have led to investors falling
out with Cineworld and therefore, people may not have wanted to invest in the company due to its
poor sales. From the 15th October 2014 to the 29th October, there has been a steady increase in the
share price. This could have been due to an increase in sales and therefore building up investors
confidence to buy shares in Cineworld. Task 3 Cineworld Group was founded in 1995 by Steve
Wiener and Senior Management Team. It is one of the leading cinema groups in Europe. Between
1996 and 2004, 35 multiplex cinemas opened with the first one being located in Stevenage. Originally
a private company, Cineworld re registered as a public company in May 2006 and was listed on the
London Stock Exchange during 2007. In July 2008, Cineworld set up a joint venture screen
advertisement business with Odeon called Digital Cinema Media Limited. The first IMAX screen
opened in Edinburgh in December 2011 followed by a further 7 being opened between March 2012
and December 2012. In total, there are 81 cinemas with 79 being located in the UK and one each in
Ireland and Jersey. The Cineworld cinema located on Renfrew Street, Glasgow, is currently the tallest

A Narrative Of Captivity And Restoration Of Mrs. Mary...
From the import and enslavement of Africans to the mass movement and genocide of a multitude of
Native peoples, the captivity and enslavement of these peoples are among the worst travesties in the
history of the United States of America. In Mary Rowlandson s A Narrative of Captivity and
Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson , she writes autobiographically about the Native American raid
on her village, the capture of herself and others including her children and other relatives, the way she
was treated by her captors, and her eventual release back into English custody. Next, we have excerpts
from Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass by Frederick Douglass. Douglass s account of his
life as a slave in the American south showed how horrendous ... Show more content on

In Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, Douglass says that the slaves on Mr. Lloyd s plantation
were only allotted a bushel of corn meal and eight pounds of either pork or fish for the entire year
(1175). To start off, a starved, impoverished and enslaved people will never have the strength to fight
back. Also, even though physical abuse is enough to keep a population in control, starvation is
probably one the best controls. Without a proper diet, someone cannot function at their fullest mental
capacity nor can they be of any resistance to their masters. Most importantly, if they are starved, they
will not have the energy or capability of running away. In comparison, Mary Rowlandson wrote in her
biography A Narrative of the Captivity and Capture of Mary Rowlandson that the Natives did not give
her anything but a few drinks of cold water for four nights (272). Except for a few exceptions during
her captivity, Rowlandson claims that she was practically starved for the entirety of her bondage save
for a few handful of nuts and other naturally occurring nourishment she could find. Again, we find that
a starved person is easier to control and less likely to run due to the physical weakness brought on by
starvation. The state of constant starvation is something that we as a people do not have the misfortune
to understand. However, their captors must be bone chillingly cruel to be able to starve their captives
to the point that they did and not have any

Religion And Religion In Fernando Vallejo s Our Lady Of...
An author s religious views will play into their work and how characters react to the views around
them. Today we get to see how we religion became integrated into Latin America and how the
colonizers subjected the people to a christianity. We can see blatantly how the idea of god and morals
set by Catholicism play into the societies set within the fantastical yet historically real worlds set by
the authors. Sometimes, religion and politics go hand in hand within the stories set due to how
government and control can be unveiled in the stories. Religion becomes a driving tool in how
characters within the stories function. The influence being so prevalent, that character rely on religion
to excuse their actions and provide justifications for their behaviors. Slowly we see religion influence
countries into oppressive dictatorships that value church preservation over the psychological and
social impacts that church holds over the common people. Religion holds influence over an author s
writing and the story being told, European influences to this day still have lasting effects on of Latin
American countries. The autobiographical novel Our Lady of Assassins by Fernando Vallejo depicts
the city of Medellín where the main protagonist, Fernando, returns to see his childhood city and share
it with someone. That someone being Alexis, a male escort and dicaprio (hit man) caught in a war
between gangs. The novel takes place in Columbia, at the time of the novel is heavily influenced

The Pros And Cons Of Air Compressor
Introduction
There are few things more frustrating to a car owner than a flat tire, especially when that flat tire is
discovered just before a big getaway. Remedying a deflated tire can be a chore, but when you
introduce an air compressor to the situation it becomes a whole lot easier.
What Is An Air Compressor?
An air compressor is a device which is used to compress and store air. When the time comes to release
the air into another object, the gas is pushed into its new home with immense force, which is what
makes air compressors so useful when it comes to inflating a car tire in a timely manner.
However, the uses of an air compressor extend far beyond the realm of automobiles. Owing to their
ability to convert electric energy into kinetic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cartman Car Air Compressor
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01F8HI600
The Cartman Car Air Compressor is a heavy duty yet relatively inexpensive air compressor designed
for those who must inflate a couple of tires at a time.
Pros
Powerful
When it comes to sheer power, you re going to struggle to find a better air compressor than this. It
comes fitted with an extra strength motor, which allows for complete inflation in half the time of the
average air compressor.
Quiet
Powerful motors often create quite a bit of noise pollution, but that is not the case with the Cartman
Car Air Compressor. Despite the incredible strength of its motor, it is almost entirely silent when in
use.
Cons
Possibly Too Demanding
The above average strength of this air compressor is great. That is, of course, if your car can handle it.
If your car isn t particularly powerful, you may run into a bit of trouble. Multiple users of the Cartman
Car Air Compressor have claimed that it resulted in blown fuses in their vehicles. A blown fuse in a
car isn t too challenging to fix, but it is a major inconvenience if you re far from home, so it s best to
avoid this compressor until you are absolutely certain that it won t damage your

Bartleby The Scrivener Character Analysis
In Melville s Bartleby the Scrivener , the narrator is on the hunt for a new copyist in his office. From
what we can tell of our narrator, he is an unambitious, vanilla fellow but still has an air of
condescension about him. He always thinks that he knows what is best for his employees, although in
actuality, he knows very little. Enter Bartleby: the incurably forlorn and sedate answer to his prayers
(330). Bartleby is a quiet man who gains employment at the law office of our narrator. Overall, he
seemed to be a good worker who had a few kinks the narrator thought that he could iron out, but to no
avail. At the end of his account, the narrator says Ah Bartleby, Ah humanity which suggests that he
sees Bartleby as a representation of all people. This is because the narrator thinks of Bartleby and all
other people as lesser than him and in need of his help. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He just had a few idiosyncrasies that irk the narrator, and among them are what come to be known as
dead wall reveries (338). Bartleby would often gaze out of his window at the view, which was nothing
more than a big old brick wall. Hours and hours would pass of Bartleby not doing his work, and not
even doing something for his own entertainment like reading the newspaper or drinking, like the other
copyists did. His time was consumed by these reveries, and also by not doing anything that he did not
prefer. Readers can interpret Bartleby s actions as a representation of his hopelessness. When a
character looks out of a window, it can show the reader how he sees the world. For Bartleby, his vision
is fixed on a dead wall. The view he has of the world is dead and despairing. He doesn t want to do
anything productive because he is so fixed on his lifeless

Archer Monologue
The early morning fog loomed as far as he could see, it was almost tangible, shrouding everything in a
thick white veil, the light barely managing to penetrate the haze. The sounds of birdsong and motors
that should have been filling the air around me all seemed to have disappeared, even her footsteps had
been swallowed by the greedy beast. I pulled her brown winter jacket closer to her body, hoping to
gain some sense of warmth that morning. It was to no avail, the fog seemed to be leaching the heat
right from my bones, pulling it in to become stronger. It was July but felt like December, which didn t
make sense because I lived in upper Michigan. I blamed global warming. The laughing wind crept up
to me, following me while I walked, hissing at the warmth of my body. The cold readied to strike at
me with its poisonous venom like a snake. My heart was pumping slower due to the icy frost burning
my body. Freaking global warming. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Finding Nemo Archetypes
Hero s Journey: Finding Nemo What is the typical idea of a hero? Sure, there may be Marvel Heroes,
but do they fit the archetype of a The Hero s Journey? In the movie Finding Nemo directed by Andrew
Stanton, a small fearful clownfish goes on a life changing adventure after his son had been taken by a
scuba diver. Marlin s journey has its ups and downs but it fits the pattern of the hero s journey
archetype almost perfectly. Joseph Campbell said, A hero ventures forth from the world of common
day into a religion of supernatural wonder. Fabulous forces are there encountered and a decisive
victory is won, the hero comes back from this mysterious adventure with the power to bestow boons
on his fellow men (Campbell). Marlin does exactly that. He goes from the ordinary world into the
sacred world in search for his treasure, his son, Nemo. First, Marlin s journey begins with the call to
adventure . The call is when the hero is asked to leave the ordinary world to reach a specific goal. Our
hero s call begins when Nemo s new friends dare him to go touch the butt. Nemo gets taken by a
scuba diver and this leaves everybody speechless and panicking. This moment is the spark of Marlin s
Journey. After trying to chase the scuba diver, Marlin almost had ... Show more content on

finds him after being flushed and they are reunited. At this point in the hero s journey, the hero has

Aggregate Demand and Supply Model Aggregate Demand and Supply Model Economic Advisement With a nominal GDP estimated at more than 15 trillion it is clearly the United States economy is one of the largest in the world. A person must have lived in a cave underground for the past several years to not know that the current state of the nation s economy is in desperate need of improvement. Many academic institutions have thought about how the economy arrived at its current state and how can it be restored. Some would advocate not using the same economic policies that created the current conditions of the economy. Their philosophy is that if we stay the current course the economy would somehow miraculously recover itself over a period of an unknown amount of time. These same ... Consumer Income: Consumer income is an estimate of household income and is the government s way of determining the median income of families; obviously the income is a key indicator of consumer confidence. According to new data derived from the monthly Current Population Survey (CPS) and ERSI, real median annual household income decreased by 7.9 % between 2010 and 2012, from $54,442 to $50,157 (Smartblog.org, 2012). The current decline in consumer income comes after four consecutive monthly decreases in real median annual household income. The annual household income suggested that the Population Survey report takes into account that some information reflects modifications made as part of annual benchmarking adjustments to compensate for missing data needed to complete the survey. The report also suggests that the economy will continue to struggle slightly despite some encouraging news on unemployment (Smartblo.org, 2012). But it is expected that the median household income will increase by 13.4% or $56,895 by 2017 as the economy improve. Interest rates: Interest rates are the most important relative prices of an economy. These influence the decisions of investors and consumers. They also determine the level of income and employment in an economy. They are indicators that guide consumers when they should invest and when they should save. During this time, Staats public service to our country encompassed ten administrations His formative years were shaped by growing up during the depression and living in the Kansas wheat belt (Callahan, p.160, para 1). • 4. Analysis Of Guiding Mirrors In Jane Eyre Guiding Mirrors In the novel Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë, Bertha serves as a primary obstacle in the novel, as her marriage to Rochester is a hindrance to Jane s emotional fulfillment and happiness. Bertha is depicted as a violent and insane woman who is kept hidden in an attic throughout the novel. Bertha s rage eventually leads her to burn Thornfield, in which Rochester loses an eye and severely injures himself. Despite the portrayal of Bertha as an inherently monstrous figure, it almost seems as though oppression by a male dominated society has fueled the destructive rage she comes to embody in the novel. This rage in Bertha is a manifestation of Jane s passion and independent nature, which seems to serve as a guiding force for Jane on her journey towards autonomy. Through the ominous characterization of Bertha coupled with the positive impact her actions have on Jane, Brontë explores gender inequality in an Victorian era and seems to suggest that passionate and independent women in male dominated environments are deprived of their femininity and may even be dehumanized. Bertha s presence acts as an obstacle for Rochester and Jane s marriage, and therefore a hindrance to Jane s quest for emotional fulfillment. Brontë achieves an obstructive characterization of Bertha by using animal imagery to describe her throughout the novel. In fact, one of the very first descriptions of Bertha reveals she has a savage face with lips swelled and dark and bloodshot eyes who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Destructive Nature Of Jealousy In Shakespeare s Othello Throughout Othello, the destructive nature of jealousy plays a major role in determining the dreadful end of the play. Most of the jealousy which is seen stems from Iago; Othello s most trusted and honest advisors. One of the first pieces of evidence we receive of Iago s motives for his hatred for Othello is when he tells Roderigo that Emilia (Iago s wife) may have committed adultery with Othello. (1.3.330). Although it is nothing more than a ridiculous rumor, Iago immediately believes it to be true, and starts to plan his revenge. Once jealousy strikes, he loses all common sense, and doesn t even confront his wife about it. Another important part of the play that shows the chaos of jealousy is when Iago starts to work his master plan. Iago talks to Othello about Desdemona and Cassio after encountering them... O beware, my Lord, of jealousy (3.3.194). Using his superior intellect, Iago was able to turn a perfectly normal situation into Othello s worst nightmare. He tells Othello to beware of jealousy, which is ironic because the ultimate goal of the conversation is to make him jealous. Iago successfully injects the drug that is jealousy into Othello, eventually turning him into the enraged man that he is at the end. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. The Pros And Cons Of Utilitarianism Many societies seem to be teetering in prosperity, which causes anxiety about future for many individuals. Some call for a society to run on the principle of utility, others call for individual freedom to be the prime drive to a society, while others call for the collective participation of all the members of a society to promote its just existence. A good, functional society must do more than the ideas promoted by utilitarianism and liberalism, it must cultivate good citizens through the process of involvement in the community and debate on moral issues. The two ideas which fall short in their ability to form a just society are utilitarianism and freedom based theories. In utilitarianism, the main goal is the maximization of happiness for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the beginning of America, close communities were founded in which everyone either could or had to participate. Present America holds many individuals which, by one way or another, have passed the civic duties of a citizen and involvement in the politics of their society on to the governing body over them. The American dream includes a personal collection of material goods and comforts instead of good citizen characteristics. Social media involves little deep conversations and is instead comprised of superficial, quick communications. With bonds no longer being available in a public way, the pursuit of personal success and the pursuit of fulfillment of feeling only allow for private connections at most. Bellah warns, the culture of separation, if it ever became completely dominant, would collapse of its own incoherence (281). Bellah encourages religion as a source of connection in a community where individuals are encouraged to give back to their communities instead of focusing on themselves. What Bellah describes that truly destroys a society is not wars, it is inactivity: we have put our own good, as individuals, as groups, as a nation, ahead of the common good (285). A test is put on society observing the way in which they handle wealth and poverty extremes which cannot exist in a just society. Giving up our individualism does not mean our ... • 7. The Plight Of The Immigrant Farmer Worker Essay Bernard Lange Professor Byrne Composition I, English 1510 November 20, 2016 The Plight of the Immigrant Farm Worker Have you ever wondered how really bad it is to be an immigrant farm worker? The article In the Strawberry Fields by Eric Scholsser, he looks at the hardships that face immigrant farmers. Though there are laws to try and help the immigrants Schlosser observed The temptation to break the law can be great. The punishments for doing so are rarely applied (86). From sharecropping and low wages to deplorable living conditions the farmers take advantage of immigrant workers at nearly every turn. Enforcing the laws will help improve immigrant farmers working and living conditions. Sharecropping is one way the famers take advantage of the immigrants, sharecropping is the most insidious means by which growers avoid responsibility for their workers (Schlosser 86). The farmer would lease a portion of their land to the sharecropper. By doing so the immigrant sharecropper would then be responsible for just about every aspect of the farm operation. In effect he would become a pseudo farmer, but in the end would really hold no power or land. Sharecroppers lease the land from the farmer. The farmers will lend the money to run the farm to the sharecropper at a very high interest rate. Schlosser notes, under the old arraignment, if things went wrong, sharecroppers simply would not be paid for their work; under the new one, they are being saddled with thousands ... • 8. Automation and Intelligence Have Changed Agriculture Agricultural production has increased manifold due to the advent of automation and intelligence in various stages of a crop s life cycle. Introduction of such processes has led to a significant increase in the output and reduction in the costs incurred in manual labour and other farm equipment. A scheme where machine vision is implemented can be used to perceive the position of a fruit for harvesting. This technology has been used to develop both land and aerial based systems for fruit detection and harvesting. Machine vision in harvesting is broadly based on visual cues and properties of fruit. Machine vision based systems have an advantage as apart from recognition of colour, texture and shape of any object, numerical points for the object are also defined. The aim of fruit detection is characterized by the following desirable outcomes: 1. Detection of each distinct fruit. 2. Discrimination of the detected fruit from the other parts of the foliage. 3. Localisation of the fruit. Since its implementation to crop harvesting and other agricultural practices, a lot of attention has been given to development in machine vision systems to achieve the abovementioned outcomes. But, all of it has been limited to the field of research with very little commercial outlook. Though, research outcomes may look bleak, it is a well accepted fact that to achieve very good incidences of fruit detection a robust machine vision system is essential. This in turn will develop into a robot ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What is worn today is way different from what the Native Americans wore a long time ago. When Indians wore clothes and accessories, they did not wear what they wore for the fun of it. They wore what they wore because of their beliefs and religion and climate, and available resources. Many tribes had different beliefs so that would imply that they all did not wear the same exact things. Today I will be talking about the clothing of three tribes, the Eskimo, Iroquois, and Navajo. A group of fundamentalists create the Republic of Gilead after they murder the President of the United States and members of Congress. The fundamentalists use the power to their advantage and restrict women s freedom. As a result, each woman is assigned a specific duty to perform in society. Serena Joy obtains a photograph of Offred s daughter and informs Offred that her daughter is now around eight years old and has been adopted by a family loyal to the regime. • 12. My Reading Project On North On Freedom By Anne Holm.i Essay I did my reading project on North to Freedom by Anne Holm.I enjoyed reading this book because of its marvelous descriptions and scenery. I have never read a book from cover to cover because I lacked the interest in reading. This made me extremely nervous about this project because my reading comprehension level wasn t really high. I was afraid of making a bad grade. It s never been an enjoyment to me. This book being the first that I ve read, has taught me more than just the events that went on throughout the story. Im quite proud of myself for finishing this book because I Thought I would never have the patience to do so. I thought this book was a great read. I would mainly like to thank you for helping me choose this book because it had wonderful detail and was quite easy to follow along to. All I know is I wanted something fiction, but I only knew of a few authors that wrote big time books and series. I had no idea what to look for. I am also proud of myself for finishing this book. I find it hard to finish books on my own time and that s why I never did. Yet, being forced to read made me finish it, and in the end I got a little bit of enjoyment out of it. Without the great descriptions of the scenery and chronological events, this book would have been quite boring and hard to read. Although there are different sources of determining whether an act is wrong or right, each type of moral philosophy provides a similar appropriate outcome. Utilitarianism, for example, follows that an act is moral if it yields the greatest good for the greatest number. In this case the determination of whether an act is right or wrong depends on whether the consequences resulting from the act affects everyone an d not just a single individual. • 14. Sarah Kane Crave Analyse My over arching idea for my production of Crave is that I want to give the play some context while also maintaining the theme that these characters could represent anyone. The reason I want to give the play some background is because on my first read of the play, before I read the Saunders article in which Sarah Kane talks about the relationships between C and A, and B and M, a lot of the themes of the play were lost on me because I was so focused on trying to figure out what was going on. I know Sarah Kane didn t want the characters to get stuck in specific categories, but by establishing relationships between the characters I think the audience will be able to focus more on what the characters are saying and less on trying to discern what ... The tone and color of the fill lights changes slightly throughout the show, following the color changes of the cyclorama. The cyc is my central design element for the show. When I read Crave, it seemed to me that the play was divided into different emotional sections, and I want to use the cyc to reflect that. When the lights come up after the characters enter, I want the cyc to be a medium dark purple, which I think helps give the feeling that the play is taking place in the city, which is what I gathered from the dialogue. The purple should be dark enough that it gives the audience a sense of unease, as each of the characters relate depressing tales and talk heatedly with one another. When A begins his speech, I want the cyc to fade into a bright amber that assaults the audience s eyes when it first appears. This symbolizes how upon first glance, A s speech appears happy and innocent, which the color yellow is associated with, but that yellow is tainted with something darker and sinister, making it amber. Then, when C mentions being raped, I want the cyc to fade to a scarlet red, because this I think this marked the transition to the most violent part of the play. Then when C says, No one can hate me more than myself , I want the cyc to start transitioning to a medium blue. As the play continues, I want that blue to get continually darker, symbolizing the characters sinking into despair. When B says Kill me , I want the cyc and all of the lights to fade away, implying that the characters have passed away. Then for the last few lines of the play, I want just the cyc to light up bright white, so you can only see the actors silhouettes. I want the audience ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We have made it to the final quarter of the season and some teams are nowhere to be found and other teams seem almost ready for the postseason. At the half way mark of the season, teams like the San Francisco Giants and Chicago Cubs, were the favorites, but that has changed. There are new teams in the race like the Cleveland Indians, Texas Rangers, and Los Angeles Dodgers. Not to mention teams like the Toronto Blue Jays and Washington Nationals that might not be getting as much attention, but are definitely in the conversation for favorites to win the World Series. Unfortunately, a lot of teams have started to decline, maybe because of injuries or simply they haven t been playing as well as they did in the first half. Teams like the Kansas City Royals were supposed to defend their title, but inevitability fell short of that and are now in 3rd place in the AL Central with 9.5 GB of the Cleveland Indians. There have been many storylines and there will probably be more regarding the rise and fall of teams until we reach the postseason. I think a team to point out is the Los Angeles Dodgers because ever since the end of the first half of the season, they have been one of the best team in the majors, without Kershaw. All of the peasant s sons had an extremely cold heart and a selfish mind except the youngest, Lumio. He was different. A charming boy he was; an outgoing personality he possessed. And of course, his older brothers, especially Fuscus, grew more and more envious of him until one day, they succumbed to the envy as they could take it no more. You see, all the brothers loved an enchanting princess who ruled over their small plot of land. Day after day, and night after night, they cared only about the princess and none other. They saw their youngest brother as a vexing, immediate hindrance to their already slim chances of impressing the so desired princess as they feared that if the princess met Lumio, the couple would forever be knit, and so, the story continues. Frustrated, the jealous brothers devised a wicked, desperate plot to rid themselves of their annoying hindrance, their brother. Fuscus, the oldest brother, spoke. Have you heard of the deep, dank well beyond the wood? Legend has it that the well is cursed to be the lair of the Golden Devil. What say? And so, the next day, Lumio and his brothers walked to the well in silence. For them everything was basically stemmed from a need. No matter which model one chooses to use as the basis of one came because of the other either there was a larger population which required more or, there was more money and people felt more comfortable in having more children. Under either model it stems all from economic reasons. France experienced demographic change in the industrial revolution entirely different from the English. Along with this idea also is the fact that since French peasants believed in primogeniture meaning the oldest son inherited all the land and the younger sons lived mostly as just celibate permeant farm hands. Therefore, it was in the French peasants best interest to try and have as few kids as possible so as to not have this problem. • 21. Selfishness In A Monster Calls By Patrick Ness Selfishness, a quality that best shines in times of isolation, forces others to become aware of one s need for attention. Patrick Ness portrays this trait in A Monster Calls in a way that makes the readers realize that the burden of a secret is too great for anyone of any age to carry. Conor O Malley is thirteen, but his experiences and hardships are ones that those who are beyond their years have not necessarily needed to overcome. Taking into account his mother s worsening condition, he does not want to let his surroundings affect him more than they already have. Under the influence of the Monster, Conor allows himself to act in accordance to his situation instead of keeping everything to himself without an outlet for his emotions. Conor s selfishness, which is seen throughout the novel, affects his interactions with others in drawing out their flaws. To retaliate against his father, Lily and his grandma for putting him in situations that cause him suffering, Conor must act in this selfish manner regardless of the consequences. Beginning with his father, Conor witnesses how a parent can be unwilling to give their all for their children and acts selfishly in order to make him aware of this fact. He faces a reality of life at the time of his parent s divorce; there was nothing he could do to keep them together. As a result, the bond he has with his father is imperfect. There is a clear barrier between the two that emerges from the distance that separates them. Even as Conor yearns for a proper parent figure in his life, he is unable to have one and he allows himself to act selfishly towards his father because he will eventually be the only parent Conor has left. By confessing to his father that he does not want to live with grandma (Ness, 88) and asking his father questions about why can t [he] come and live with (Ness, 88) him, Conor wants his father to own up to his responsibilities as a parent. Despite being aware his wishes will not be granted, but he wants his father to realize how less he commits to caring for his son when he needs him the most. In Campbell s short story The Trespasser draws from the tale of Goldilocks and The Three Bears which was originated by the Robert Southey. In each work, there are similarities as well as changes that are made for significant reasons all related to folklore in which the context changes to better suit the audience. In Guatemala, remittances could be a source of financing for the purchase of a home when basic consumption is fulfilled. Another source of financing is mortgage. The government housing agency, FHA, guarantees about 50% of total mortgages loans. The housing price in Guatemala rises when the mortgage lending grows. Most local banks in Guatemala relies on short term deposits to fund their longer term mortgage portfolios, and they tend to overlook the low income market segment. He describes the ecosystem to be creative, adaptive, permeable, dynamic, systemic, and self correcting; where the industrial age model is contained, controlled, predictable, scalable, repeatable, and measurable. He explains that today we are now living in a global ecosystem that consisted of 4 spheres, a fifth sphere is currently evolving known as the cognitosphere, which is the system of knowledge creation and management. Many individuals have access to this sphere around the world through cell phones. He continues to expand about how if we want to reach the 21st century learner we need to remove three things from the industrial age model: anchors, dams, and silos. He describes how anchors are our egotistical time, space, and subject; dams are how college boards and college admissions want us to shove kids into packets of content rather than context, and how as teachers we remain in silos of classrooms, department, and divisions and that we need to be communicating, collaborating, ... • 40. Use Of Non Lethal Weapons By Law Enforcement Chris Vertrees CRIJ 101 003W Instructor. Newberry August 25, 2016 Use of Non Lethal Weapons by Law Enforcement. The use of less lethal force by law enforcement personnel started in the 1960s during the civil rights and anti war movements (Wilson 218). These movements assisted tin creating situations in which large groups of people were coming into contact with law enforcement. Given the emotional status to these situations, violent encounters started becoming more widespread. As such, less lethal methods of crowd/riot control became the focus for law enforcement. At the time, chemical agents/irritants were the most frequently used method to control riots. Other less than lethal weapons, but not limited to are, wooden, rubber, and bean bag bullets/rounds, were also being introduced, but given restrictions on law enforcement budgets, these suffered from the lack of testing before being used. However, the term non lethal is and has been used by most manufacturers to describe these types of weapons. It is significant to distinguish that the term less lethal is more suitable, as there has been an unknown number of unreported and reported deaths following the use of these weapons. Although the less lethal options offer a safer substitute to the traditional use of force, it would be hard to create any weapon as less then lethal under all situations, given the many different situations that these methods may be used in. In Mary Rowlandson s A Narrative of Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson , she writes autobiographically about the Native American raid on her village, the capture of herself and others including her children and other relatives, the way she was treated by her captors, and her eventual release back into English custody. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, Douglass says that the slaves on Mr. Lloyd s plantation were only allotted a bushel of corn meal and eight pounds of either pork or fish for the entire year (1175). To start off, a starved, impoverished and enslaved people will never have the strength to fight back. Also, even though physical abuse is enough to keep a population in control, starvation is probably one the best controls. Without a proper diet, someone cannot function at their fullest mental capacity nor can they be of any resistance to their masters. Most importantly, if they are starved, they will not have the energy or capability of running away. In comparison, Mary Rowlandson wrote in her biography A Narrative of the Captivity and Capture of Mary Rowlandson that the Natives did not give her anything but a few drinks of cold water for four nights (272). Except for a few exceptions during her captivity, Rowlandson claims that she was practically starved for the entirety of her bondage save for a few handful of nuts and other naturally occurring nourishment she could find. Again, we find that a starved person is easier to control and less likely to run due to the physical weakness brought on by starvation. Today we get to see how we religion became integrated into Latin America and how the colonizers subjected the people to a christianity. We can see blatantly how the idea of god and morals set by Catholicism play into the societies set within the fantastical yet historically real worlds set by the authors.
