The Neurobiological Factors Associated with Depression Essay
The Neurobiological Factors Associated with Depression Depression is a mood disorder that
affects approximately ten percent of men and nearly twenty five percent of women at least once
in their lifetime (1). There are several types of clinical depression, such as unipolar depression and
bipolar depression. Unipolar depression consists of primarily depressive states while bipolar
depression involves a fluctuation between states of depression and mania (2). Some of the most
common symptoms of depression include excessive feelings of sadness, guilt, or worthlessness, a
significant change in appetite, insomnia or hypersomnia, energy loss, thoughts or attempts of
suicide, and anhedonia (3), (4). While the symptoms of depression are... Show more content on

While some of the findings from these genetic studies are still preliminary, several investigations
have indicated that the role of certain neurotransmitters, called monoamines, in depression is
immense (7). Neurotransmitters are chemicals in the brain that bind to receptors in order to excite
or inhibit the firing of neurons (6). The Catecholamine Theory of Mood was proposed as a major
explanation for the cause of depression in the 1960s by Joseph Schildkraut (7). Schildkraut
suggested that a deficiency of the neurotransmitter norepinephrine at receptor sites caused
depression while increased levels of norepinephrine caused mania. Some evidence for Schildkraut s
account was established by the success rate of monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor drugs, which
block the reuptake of monoamines and facilitate the release of neurotransmitters such as
norepinephrine and serotonin (8). Further evidence has been established by studies that found
decreased norepinephrine levels in the cerebrospinal fluid of deceased depressed patients (5). More
recently, drugs have been developed that selectively block the reuptake of norepinephrine by the
presynaptic cell. It has been found in preliminary studies that the level of depression decreases in
these patients, which provides further evidence for the role of norepinephrine in depression. While
empirical support for the Catecholamine Theory of Mood has grown substantially, evidence from
more recent studies highlights the

Blood Imagery In Macbeth Essay
In Shakespeare s Macbeth a play, a man named Macbeth goes through a great transformation;
Macbeth goes from being a heroic general in the king s army to an assassin and a tyrant. The
theme of the play is never give into evil because it destroys no matter what the benefits are. Blood
Imagery is very important in the play; it shows Macbeth s evil ambition in the beginning, middle,
and end of the play.
In the beginning of the play, blood imagery is very important. quot;Till he unseamed him from the
nave to the chaps, / and fixed his head upon our battlements quot;(I.ii.22 23). Macbeth has just
killed the enemy and become a hero; Macbeth killed the enemy not for fame or fortune but to
defend his land and people. In this next quote Macbeth s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

quot;Avaunt! And quit my sight!Let the earth hide thee! / Thy bone are marrowless, thy blood is
cold; / thou hass no speculation in those eyes quot;(III.iv.93 96). Banquo s ghost haunts Macbeth,
and Macbeth is unable to face it. Macbeth s evil ambition usually leaves Macbeth feeling at
peace or safe, but now his ambition has left him with a painful vision of his dead friend.
quot; What, you egg! / Young fry of treachery! / He has killed me quot;(IV.ii.79 82). Macbeth has
sent his men to catch and kill Macduff, and instead Macbeth s men kill Macduff s innocent son
and later his wife. Macbeth is now giving orders to kill woman and children; he has become a
complete tyrant.
In addition to the middle, blood imagery is important to the end of the play. quot;Out, damned
spot! out quot;(V.i.28). Lady Macbeth s guilt has overcome her; every night she scrubs her
hands to remove the blood, the guilt of killing. Lady Macbeth pays for her husband s crimes with
her life. quot;He s worth more sorrow, / And that I ll spend for him. / He s worth no more. / they
say he parted well, and paid his score quot;(V.viii.51 53). The evil Macbeth killed the good young
Siward. YOung Siward s blood was spilt for good; he did not die in shame; young Siward died with
honor as a soldier should and for that his father was proud.

The Ten Commandments In The Scarlet Letter
The story of the Ten Commandments in the Bible is a story many know, but sometimes disregard
its importance. While the Jews were wandering in the desert, God spoke to Moses and told him
to go to the top of Mt. Sinai. Moses, without second guessing, obeyed. When he got there, God
gave him two stone tablets. Each tablet had a list of rules that would help keep the Jews from
sinning. After they were listed, there was a flash of lightning, a roar of thunder, the sound of a
trumpet, and release of smoke around the mountain. The Jews grew uneasy and shared with Moses
that they were afraid. Moses informed them that God was only trying to scare them so that they
would not sin.
The Ten Commandmentsare significant to both the Jewish followers in the story and to people of
many religions around the world. They were the original guidelines for the people who were
starting their new lives in a new promised land. These were scary times, especially with so much
uncertainty. They had to put their faith in one man: Moses. Moses who himself blindly put his
faith in God who promised to lead him to a chosen land as long as they promised to uphold the Ten
Commandments. The Bible says that Moses even had to remove ... Show more content on

Star Wars Argumentative Essay
Under normal circumstances, when a fairly large franchise film is coming out, you could be
forgiven for forgetting about the accompanying video game that inevitably comes along with it.
Ranging from painful cash grabs to satisfying tie ins, film inspired games usually appear the
afterthought of the Hollywood marketing process. But Star Wars: the Force Awakens isn t a fairly
large franchise film, and these are by no means normal circumstances.
A little under a month ahead of what could quite possibly be the biggest cinematic release of all
time, we fans have not just a shameless tie in but a fully fledged reboot of one of the most loved
franchises in Star Wars enormous gaming catalogue. And while that may be as much a result of
rose tinted nostalgia and remarkably consistent marketing of Disney as it is anything else, EA
DICE s Star Wars Battlefront has quite some expectations to meet now it s finally here.
As you more than likely know by now, Star Wars Battlefront is an entirely multiplayer focused
game. Players are given the choice between the Multiplayer modes and Battlefront s Missions
mode, but the emphasis is placed heavily on the former. Within Multiplayer, there are nine other
modes to choose from, varying between the large scale, frenetic 40 player battles of Walker Assault
and Supremacy, and the more intimate, small sided modes like Droid Run and Hero Hunt.
Those who made it into the open beta will remember Walker Assault well. Pitting 20 against 20 on

internal or external authoritarian forces by sending money, military equipment and giving advice.

Syria Essay
Syria is a Middle Eastern country located on the Mediterranean Sea, bordered by Turkey, Iraq,
Jordan, Israel, and Lebanon. To people in the West, Syria is most likely known for violence,
terrorism, and conflict because that is what the media portrays. However, it is one of the oldest
inhabited regions in the world and is rich with culture and history. From Bible references noting,
The road to Damascus to Ottoman control in 1516 to Bashar al Assadtaking control in 2000, Syria
has seen periods of peace but has been plagued with many years of instability throughout its history
and especially in recent years. This essay will discuss the events leading to the uprisings, the current
situation, and possible peaceful resolutions.

During this period 75% of farms failed and 86% of livestock died (Manfreda 2017). This caused
nearly 1.5 million farmers and their families to move into slums with no help from Assad or the
government (Manfreda 2017).
The push to overthrow Bashar began on social media by a group called, Syrian Revolution 2011
against Bashar al Assad (Gelvin 2015). The group scheduled a peaceful protest in Damascus on
March 11th to demand the release of political prisoners, which was not successful. A few days
later, 10 school children were arrested in Daraa for making statements against the regime. When
they were not released, a large group of protestors took it to the streets in protest. The regime
opened fire and killed several. Protests spread from city to city across Syria, eventually reaching
the largest cities of Damascus and Aleppo (Gelvin 2015). From this moment the situation has
spiraled out of control, turning into a civil war and after international intervention, a proxy war. In
2012, The United States, Turkey, and other Gulf States showed support for the rebels by sending
money for equipment, arms, and humanitarian relief. In August of 2013, a chemical attack in
Damascus killed almost 1,500. The United States and international community blamed Assad,
however, the US did not take military action as they had initially promised (Beck 2015). On Assad
s side, one of the largest supporters is Russia. Syria is one of Russia s last

The Work Systems And Organizational Structure Of The...
Assignment #7 This paper will examine the work systems and organizational structure of the
Healthcare Employees Benefits (HEB) Manitoba. I will explain the current system in place and
present how changes in work and technology may affect potential future changes to the work
systems. As well, the potential benefits and obstacles to these changes will be explored. HEB
Manitoba is the pension and benefit provider for 70,000 active and retired healthcare workers in
Manitoba. It emerged from the consolidation of three pension plans during two mergers in the mid
1990s. Since the mergers, it has grown from 12 employees to more than 150 employees. It has a
proto typical hierarchal organization, with 1 senior executive, 5 executives, 25 managers and
approximately 120 employees. Some managers have no employees reporting to them, but managers
with direct reports average about eight employees each. The departments divide according to job
function, including finance, corporate services, pensions and benefits, disability and information
systems. The majority of the departments split into further sub departments, with the largest
department, the pension and benefits department, consisting of 57 employees. Workflow generally
stays within one department, but can cross over between departments. Sub departments typically
focus on specific tasks, such as reviewing files for data accuracy, preparing pension calculations, or
administering the information network. As the largest department, the

Arguments Against Capitalism
Capitalism is defined as an economic and political system in which a country s trade and industry
are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state. Base on the reading and the
fading of the word freedom in the background, the term Capitalism is portrayed in a negative light
affecting its connotation. I comprehend that the private sector is recognized as a critical driver of
economic growth, which contributes significantly to poverty reduction and higher living standards
for poor people, Although, the fading of the word freedom emphasizes that capitalism, controlled by
private sectors who provides majority of jobs to Americans, contradicts its representation of the free
enterprise system. The tone of the photograph could be described as... Show more content on

This type of argument is evident in the picture because it ridicules the term freedom with our
rights by placing it as a faded concept in the background, meanwhile emphasizing on the word
Capitalism. I agree with the pictures intent to question capitalism due to the fact that capitalism is a
system based on the principle of individual rights, and the free market, known as the system of
Laissez faire. The picture most appropriately responds to the first question of the Stasis Theory
which state, Did something happened? The choice of words used by the author created a sarcastic
tone resulting in the reader wondering if something happened. The question responds correctly to
the statement because it causes one to question and acknowledge that capitalism represents the free
market, the principle of individual rights, and the system of Laissez faire, therefore, the word
freedom being faded in the background demean the value and importance of the word when the
term capitalism represents similar ideals and/or

New York s Jewish Museum
Crowdsourced Documentation September 16, 2016, Take me (I m Yours) took place at New York
s Jewish Museum, as its first ever exhibition made possible by the digital crowdfunding campaign
via Kickstarter. With a total $31,018 pledged, 340 backers helped forty two international and
intergenerational artists create 400,000+ artworks to be given away during this unconventional
exhibition, visitors are encouraged to participate, touch, and even take the artworks on view home
with them. Crowdfunding has become commonplace in the art world, but the Jewish Museum
launched its first Kickstarter campaign for a number of reasons, of course, in order to fabricate the
thousands upon thousands of artworks needed to keep the show fully stocked throughout its run.
Also, through Kickstarter platform, it creates a real Receive Me (I m Yours) dynamic for reaching
a real community around the museum, staging a online dialogue with its donors, eventually
orchestrating a unique network in which participatory behaviours translate the collective online
vision into physical space. Take me (I m Yours) aims to create a democratic space for all visitors to
take ownership of artworks, and curate their personal art collections, by subverting typical museum
practices. Visitors constantly transform the landscape of the galleries, bit by bit, through direct
engagement, eventually the exhibition will disappear entirely. (Museum, 2016a) Take Me (I m

Diffusion Of Displacement Essay
Empirical evidence regarding displacement and diffusion of benefits
A number of reviews and studies of displacement studies have been conducted since 1990. The first
critical examination of displacement was produced by Cornish and Clarke in 1987, and the result
showed that overall research stated that displacement is not inevitable, which is not compatible
with the traditional criminology predictions (Cornish and Clarke, 1987). In 1990, Barr and Pease
examined more research and found out that the evidence witch supported displacement hypothesis
was little. They suggested that it is difficult to distinguish displacement from natural offender
behavior. Moreover, they also suggested that some forms of displacement could be beneficial, i.e.,
less harmful crime types (Barr and Pease, 1990). This is the similar idea of benign displacement.
Eck made a systematic review of the 33 empirical research and studies on displacement and
suggested that there is more reason to expect no displacement than a great deal ... Show more

They examined 102 evaluations of situationally focused crime prevention projects and evaluated
574 observations by using certain search strategy, inclusion and coding strategies, and quantitative
analytical approach, including the gross effect (GE), net effect (NE), the total net effect (TNE), and
the weighted displacement quotient (WDQ) (Bowers and Johnson, 2003; Clarke and Eck, 2005).
They found that the possibility of diffusion of benefits (27%) was even a little bit greater than the
possibility of displacement (26%). This provided the consistent support for the argument that crime
did not simply relocate because of the situational intervention, however, its opposite, the diffusion of
benefit was more likely to happen. Moreover, even though displacement could happen in some
situation, crimes tended to be less than before, so the initiatives were surely

Stephen R. Covey s Contents Of A Dead Man s Pockets
Stephen R. Covey said, Most of us spend too much time on what is urgent and not enough time
on what is important. In today s society, many people put work and career pursuits at the top of
their metaphorical list of priorities. In a world driven a million miles an hour by commercial
success, it is a wonder anyone has time to stop and smell the roses with the people they care
about. In Contents of a Dead Man s Pockets , Jack Finney expresses the importance of enjoying life
rather than chasing fruitless ambition through extensive symbolism and a touch of satire. At the
beginning of the story, as main character Tom Benecke is organizing papers on his desk, he
remarks on how hot it is in his apartment showing that he feels stifled and... Show more content on

He decides that there is nothing long enough in the apartment. As has been established, the
apartment here symbolizes Tom s enjoyable elements of life, so this decision represents Finney s
idea that one cannot focus on ambition and work without leaving behind the nice things in life.
Tom s reflection shortly thereafter on all of the time spent on his project emphasizes the
colossal waste of his life that his ambitions are. Finney says about these side projects, They were
the way to change from a name on a payroll to a name in the minds of the company officials.
They were the beginning of the long, long climb to where he was determined to be, at the very
top, and goes on to say, And he knew he was going out there in the darkness, after the yellow
sheet fifteen feet beyond his reach. These statements establish the connection between the
darkness and his project (representing ambition as a whole) for the first time. Tom Benecke
decides to go out and chase his ambitions by walking along the ledge on the building. Jack
Finney proceeds to set up his satirical scramble for power. Tom climbs out the window and is
struck by the shift from the warmth and comfort of his home to the cold, harsh outdoors. Tom
Benecke begins to grow scared and uncomfortable perched there in the dark. He stays calm and
retrieves the page, but panics as he looks down. He moves back towards the window, slowly

because they both have brown hair. This is a prime example Piaget s preoperational state of
cognitive development. This stage is described as when a child uses symbolic thinking, use of
proper syntax and grammar to express full concepts. When she comes to our house she also enjoys

homemade playdoe; this allows her to learn how to make things. The combinations of those

Heat Loss Investigation Essay
Heat Loss Investigation
Introduction ============
In this investigation I will investigate heat loss and heat transfer in different materials and I will
also investigate which materials are the best insulators. A material that prevents this heat loss is
called an insulator and this helps to keep the object that is being insulated warmer for, longer. Heat
is generally transferred in three different methods:
Conduction
Convection
Radiation
Conduction is energy transferred from the hotter part of a solid to the colder part of conduction. It
is transferred by the particles in the material the particles in the hot part are vibrating more. These
vibrations are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The particles that escape are those with higher than average energy otherwise they would not have
enough energy to escape. Because the liquid loses its higher energy particles, the liquid that is left
has less energy, so it becomes cooler.
I will test two types of insulation to see which is the best at preventing heat loss I will use black
card, and tin foil to insulate the beaker filled with water. I will also do this twice one in a small
beaker and once in a larger beaker. I will investigate also if I use more water will this affect the heat
loss. If I use more water will this hold insulate the water more? So overall I will have four sets of
results.
Factors of the experiment =========================
In this experiment there are many different factors that could affect my experiment and the results I
achieve, the factors are:
The amount of water used in each experiment If I use a large of amount of water this will mean
that the water will cool down slower and therefore stay warmer for longer. So the more water I use
the longer the water will stay warm, so if I use a small amount of water it will cool down quick.
Type of Insulation I will use This will change the amount of heat loss significantly. Different types
of material insulate differently depending on how efficiently the material

Ayn Rand s The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy
Watching movies is an enjoyable and entertaining pass time that can be enjoyed alone, with
family, or with friends. With a plethora of genres to choose from and even more movies within
those genres, picking a movie that s enjoyable can be difficult. So, whenever anyone asks, what
movie they should watch I would suggest The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. The Lord of the Rings
has extraordinary character development, focuses greatly on friendship, and the amount of effort
that was put into making the movie, which is why it s my all time favorite movie. Character
development is highly important element of any story. Whether the character is good or bad,
character development is needed to create a story more interesting, relatable, and adds new

The General Who Jumped First From childhood hardships to becoming the youngest General in
World War II (WWII), James M. Gavin was an exemplary leader who highly valued his men. For

always the first to exit the paratroop door. The purpose of this paper is to examine the Army
leadership attributes and competencies displayed by LTG Gavin throughout his military career.
From his first combat jump into Sicily to his last in Holland, LTG Gavin was a leader who always

According to Carlo D Este, however, James Gavin s determination and intellect fueled him to
devote countless hours to studying sometimes even in the bathroom which ultimately led to his
successful graduation from the university in 1929 (2011). James Gavin commissioned into the
infantry where he held traditional Army roles from the ranks of 2LT to MAJ. In 1941, with
impending war on the horizon, Gavin was among the first groups to attend the Basic Airborne

employment and operations of airborne units in combat. Then in 1942, COL Gavin became the

Isaiah 40-66
There are several challenges with the historical background and political setting of Isaiah 40 66
concerning author, date, time and situation of life for the Jews. LaSor notes that traditional
views that Isaiah authored the entire book are held by very few scholars. More and more critics
are accepting a two book theory with chapters 1 39 as book one and chapters 40 66 as book two.
Moreover, there are further refinements resulting in three books, dividing chapters 40 66 into 40 55
(Deutero Isaiah) and 56 66 (Trito Isaiah). (LaSor, William 1996., 281)
Since the argument for multiple authorships and time periods directly affect the historical and
political setting, it is necessary to briefly review them now. As noted by Laser, Internal evidence...

This would be sufficient to account for the introduction of later viewpoints resonating with its
origins. (LaSor, William 1996., 285)
Thus, the historical and political setting for Isaiah 40 66 could be spread across the rule of three
dominant nations, Assyria, Babylon, and Persia. Boadt notes that while the theme of Deutero
Isaiah was Consolation, the overall theme of the book centered on God as the Holy One of Israel;
foreign rule was God s disciplinary tool, and God s makes Zion the Divine dwelling place. (Boadt

The IDB provides a brief overview of Israel s political setting after the invasions of Assyria in the
first century.
From the late 8th to the late 2nd cent., under Assyrian, Babylonian, Persian, and Greek domination,
the sovereignty of monarchic Israel was confined to Jerusalem and its hinterland. This small
colonial sovereignty was embodied first in a vassal monarchy, then in an exiled monarchy, which
was briefly restored, then in a monarchic priesthood. (Sakenfeld 2006 2009,

The Architects Of Their Own Downfall
Please excuse the clichГ© here, but architects are; the architects of their own downfall. August
Schmarsow likens the role of the architect as similar to a conductor in an orchestra. The conductors
of space . A quite romantic notion, but why has the trust diminished between client and architect? In
the UK, for example, most clients are now seeking developers rather than employ an architect. To
which there is certain logic, why employ an external body who will not only cost more, but may
start to deploy their own ideas onto the scheme? Surely the client calls the shots because of their
larger wallet? Here in lies the problem. Developers, Town Planners and Surveyors are all number
based professions, a series of calculations dictating spatial qualities and aesthetic appeal. How
many bedrooms can we fit in, what is the cost of the project, what kind of profits can we make? All
questions that the client will be more than content with when dealing with said professions. The
architect is seen as the rebel of the building profession; forever pushing limits to design, aesthetics,
engineering and spatial quality. The architect brings a unique quality to the design team, a
consideration for all aspects. Be that of scale, cost, materiality, spatial, detailing, servicing,
romantics, social implications, theoretical aspirations. The list goes on and on. But this is the point;
it is this wide consideration that makes the architect a disposable and superfluous piece of the design

The Characters Being Dead In The Song Of Solomon
Song of Solomon Questions 1. The characters being dead in the text can be related to their race
and/or their gender. Milkman can be seen as dead because he has no purpose in life; he doesn t
seem to know what being black means like the other characters in the text do, and he doesn t
realize how him being a man affects the females in the text. Most of the women are dead
because they are left behind or controlled by the men in the story. They do not take their lives for
their own, so they do not have one; they can be considered dead. However, Pilate could break
this trend because unlike the other females she takes her life for herself and controls it. Later on
in the story, Guitar can be seen as dead even though it s not apart of his name. He lets his life be
controlled by anger and hunger. Despite him justifying his actions with the Seven Days as
justice, he does this based on anger and cannot answer Milkman s questions on the ethical view
of it. He also seeks to take the life of Milkman when he suspects he s run off with the gold. 2. The
song in the novel gives insight on the background knowledge that Milkman is looking for about
his family. The events that the song describes can also be applied to Milkman and the people
around him. Those who know the Song of Solomon do not question Solomon flying off and
leaving behind everyone. They are also quick to put Ryna in a bad light, naming her after a ditch
and saying she could not live without a man. This is a

The Necessary And Proper Clause And Its Effect On History
The Necessary and Proper Clause and Its Effect on History The Constitution was written in order
to replace the Articles of Confederation and create a centralized government. Times continue to
change, and therefore laws must be altered such to keep up with those changes. This was the
sole purpose of the amending process of the Constitution. The purpose of the very first
amendment was to allow Congress the authority to get involved with state powers that was not
allowed at first. This article, Article 1, has been very controversial and confusing at times. It has
been a part of our judicial system in judgment of laws and their necessity and still affects us
today. Article I, Section 8 states The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties,
imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of
the United states, but all duties, imposts and excises should be uniform throughout the United
States. Overall, to make all laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into execution
the foreign powers, and all other powers vested by this Constitution in the government of the United
states, or in any department or office thereof (law.cornell.edu). What exactly does this mean? The
Framers of the Constitution were trying to protect the states from foreign military warfare and
commercial warfare against one another. This article gives Congress permission to promote the
general welfare of the United States by

This is also tied with high fixed cost of registering and enforcing patent legal rights. Utility Models
are significantly cheaper and faster to register as well as a shorter protection period, therefore
fosters incremental technological advances at a much faster rate than patents, which takes a long
time to turn over.
Generally, the fees for getting utility models is lower than those of patents. As mentioned
previously, there is no substantive examination of utility model applications in most countries no
examination fee is required for registration. Like patents, maintenance or renewal fees must be paid

To file for international patent, actors have to go through preliminary examination, performed by an
International Preliminary Examining Authority (IPEA)[citation]. The Patent Cooperation Treaty

essentially a standard national patent application that contracting countries abide to follow. This

about hot water baths is that she cannot clean herself, cannot make a strong suds (page 54), so

This disharmony within society is a greater division for Cather; it is a division between those
who can only think within the constraints of the past and the present; there is no evidence of a
hunger for progress, only for the rapid accumulation of wealth (as demonstrated by Lou s
eagerness to sell out to Charlie Fuller.) Randall quotes Cather herself in this: A pioneer should have

Ark 300 Cubits
Surely as God creates the grandeur of life, He holds an expectation for the humans He crafts in
His image. As Old Testament generations pass, the gap between expectation and reality widens,
and God must establish commandments of His desire for humanity through Moses. His want is
for humanity to love Him by way of obedience out of fear of His power. It is not possible for
humans to fear or love Godwithout keeping to his commandments. Therefore God s ultimate
desire for humanity is obedience, displayed in His readiness to favor those who submit to him
and punish though who do not. From the beginning of Creation in Genesis, it is evident that
obedience is what God asks of man. The first man and woman are free to live as they please in
Eden: working the garden, naming the animals, and eating the fruits. There is but one instruction
from God: The LORD God commanded the man, saying, You may surely eat of every tree of the

God gives Noah very precise commands; for example, Make yourself an ark of gopher wood . . .
This is how you are to make it: the length of the ark 300 cubits, its breadth 50 cubits, and its
height 30 cubits (Genesis 6:14 15). From the type of wood with which to build to the number of
animals allowed in the boat, Noah must submit to God or face the same consequence for
disobedience as the rest of humanity. Emphasizing God s desire for humanity s obedience, four
reiterations of the sentence first offered in Genesis 6:22, Noah did this; he did all that God
commanded him, are present in the textual account of Noah. Noah s obedience was great, and for
that he is rewarded: God not only saves Noah, his wife, his children, and his grandchildren, but also

I wanted to create an intimate experience with an audience through a film. I needed to get

iPhone 5s. I had used my phone for a year to take photos and videos when I had recently decided
to upgrade to the CanonT6i. After using the camerafor a couple of months now, I wanted to see the
similarities and differences in functionality that the iPhone5s had compared to the Canon T6i.
A similarity that is consistent with the iPhone 5s and the Canon T6i is the user interface. The user
will interact with the devices by using its buttons and touch screens. The iPhone 5s and Canon T6i
have many similar buttons such as the on/off, home screen and volume buttons. The on/off button
allows the user to get their device started to take pictures. The home screen button redirects the user
of an iPho ne to a screen with apps, while a user of the Canon T6i to a screen with many camera
settings. The iPhone 5s and the Canon T6i have touch screens. The touch screen adds comfort to
the user. It is also a familiar feeling to most technology users since the touch screen is very
common in 2016.
A second similarity between the two devices is their camera functions. The basic camera functions

Many of the musicians during the 1980s have maintained staying power and are still popular

bands and interests that helped to change the face of music in the 80s. MTV, or Music
Television, may have been the single most influential entity in music industry during the 1980s .
Premiering in 1981, MTV gave bands and artists greater exposure for their music in a greater
and more widely popular medium. The first video ever played on MTV was aptly titled Video
Killed the Radio Star by the Buggles. Duran Duran is one of the more popular 80s bands that
enjoyed the exposure that MTV gave them, too. Many experts have said that MTV is what made
Duran Duran one of the most popular bands to come out of the 1980s era. New Wave and

Observation Of An Afterschool Ambassador
Tracy is 11 (almost 12) years old who attends American Preparatory Academy, a charter school

involving the sixth grade. Tracy was a great choice, due to her being an officer, which required
her to be more involved in leading the ambassador activity. She comes from a Tongan family and
is taller than average, with a weight that would be considered slightly heavier than the national
average. Knowing that genes are involved may slow down the impulse to blame people for
being overweight. (Berger, 2016 p. 243). She had developed breasts, curves, and appeared to be
more mature for her age. Tongan women typically have a higher BMI than caucasian women.
The sixth grade was to visit several stations where different learning activities were organized.
The first station started with some basic yoga, where each student stood in a Tadasana pose next

while concentrating on her breathing. She appeared to have more developed coordination than

The Flawed System Of American Education
The Flawed System of American Education
The United States of America used to be known as one of the greatest countries to be apart of.
From the jobs to the economy to education people loved to be apart of the American culture. The
problem many Americans are facing today is poor education. Since America is viewed as a high
profile country many people have prominent expectations on what they are receiving, specifically
the education. The fact is that there are major problems with all levels of the education system
today. Starting with early education, teachers are quick to say children needs to be medicated or
put into special education. Proceeding to the general or high school education where kids are
graduating but not prepared for what s after. Lastly how higher education or college can hardly be
afforded in today s society. As a result of the failing education system, many parents blame the
child or society when in actuality the failing system is corrupted by some teachers, lack of
preparation, and lack of affordability in higher education. One of the most popular conversations
parents have when their child is born is education. A question that comes up is when should the
child start school? The usual age to start kindergarten is about five to six years of age. At a
young age kids are like a sponge and learn a lot in the first few years. Teachers are a great
influence on the children considering they are at school between seven to eight hours a day. Over

Edith Grotberg Theory Of Resilience
The American Psychological Association (APA) defines resilience as the ability to adapt well to
adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or even significant sources of stress (APA 2011). According to
Edith Grotberg, a developmental psychologist, Resilience is important because it is the human
capacity to face, overcome and be strengthened by or even transformed by the adversities of life
(1995). Resilienceis the ability to remain positive in the face of adversity, which is not the same as
not having distress or denying it (Music, 2011). Developing this capacity relies on protective

Motivations and Methodology of Mass Murderers Essay
Introduction Mass murder is defined by the FBI as the killing of three or more people in a single
event or in the same day (Petersen Farrington, 2007). Mass murderers are complex and can be
examined by the many factors that regularly appear among them, such as violence precipitating
events, weapon of choice, and mental illnesses. The motivations and methods for committing mass
murderare easily broken down into specific groups, and through the examination of these definitions
and specific cases there is much to learn about the mind of a mass murderer.

The event of mass murder as known today, postal workers going postal and school massacres, has
been emerging as a more regular occurrence throughout the last century (Lester, Stack, Schmidtke,
Schuller Muller, 2005). Starting with the Vietnam War era, there have been an increasing number
of mass murders, which share a causal link to the increased militarization of American Society.
The introduction of semiautomatic weapons in mainstream society gives the opportunity for
explosive and gratuitously violent events such as have been seen in recent years (Hamamoto,
2002). The increase in graphically violent war movies and first person video games, full of violent
images and massive destruction, lend a hand in the building of a society that is hyperaware of war
level violence.
Legal Concerns
The central legal concern associated with mass murder has been gun control. More specifically the
aftermath of Columbine can be examined to show the range of gun control concerns. A result of the
Columbine massacre, the most terrible mass shooting in United States history, was the media
calling for more gun control and identifying too many guns and too little control as the cause of the
attack (Kelck, 2009). It is important to note that while this attack was horrendous, it comes nowhere
close to the number of victims in

Analysis Of Oppression By Jimmy Santiago Baca
In the poem Oppression by Jimmy Santiago Baca, the author gives readers an understanding of
oppression, its psychological impact upon endurance, and one s ability to seek emancipation.
Within the first stanza of the poem, Baca defines oppression as being trampled under and
expresses that those who endure oppression are human . Baca continues to explain that the act
oppression [i]s a question of strength of the oppressor, and a question of unshed tears of the
individual enduring oppression. In this stanza, the author is stating that oppression is a fight for
power in which the oppressor uses fear through the form of violence or terror to oppress
individuals, while the individuals being oppressed show their strength by remaining calm

Colonialism and Imperialism
The European, White Male vs. the Other in Heart of Darkness
The novella Heart of Darkness has, since it s publication in 1899, caused much controversy and
invited much criticism. While some have hailed it s author, Joseph Conrad as producing a work
ahead of it s time in it s treatment and criticism of colonialist practices in the Congo, others, most
notably Chinua Achebe, have criticized it for it s racist and sexist construction of cultural identity.
Heart of Darkness can therefore be described as a text of it s time, as the cultural identity of the
dominant society, that is, the European male is constructed in opposition to the other , the other in
Heart of Darkness being defined as black and/or female. Notions of cultural ... Show more content

In the case of the second instance it is somewhat appropriate that the leader s death is announced
by one of the people of the group he is seen to have joined. Therefore Africansare constructed as
being inferior to Europeans through Conrad s refusal to grant them the power of language and
speech and even when they are given the opportunity to speak, Conrad constructs Africans as being
largely inarticulate. Thus confirming the superiority of the white race.
Conrad further marginalises and degrades the African characters and race not only through the
denial of language but also the denial of human form. When Marlow first sees Africans in a small
boat on the water, he describes them in terms of their muscles , bones and white teeth , despite also
recognizing a vitality and spirit. The disembodiment continues when Marlow encounters the chain
gang at the outer station. It is when seeking shade however that Marlow stumbles upon the grove of
death. Here he finds emancipated and dying Africans, cast off by their imperialist owners because
they are no longer deemed to have monetary value, or economic viability. Instead of feeling
revulsion s at this, Marlow dehumanizes the Africans, describing them as bundles of acute angles
and noting how they drink on all fours . Thus by denying the Africans their humanity, Conrad
constructs a notion

Case Analysis On Brainiac University Law School Essay
Case #1 Case one is based on Nesbitt, who graduated from Brainiac University Law School. He
applied for a job at Dewey, Getem and Howe , and was granted an interview. Dillan Dewey, who
was part of the interviewing process, was so impressed with Nesbitt s overall interview that at
the end they shook hands and he stated We are very impressed with you young man! How would
you like a position with our firm? To which he replies I d be honored! . After the interview, when
Nesbitt was leaving the office, a conversation concerning the upcoming provincial election. The
firm was closely connected to the People s Party, and thus did a vast amount of work for that
party. Where as Nesbitt, was never one to shrink from political debate , supported the Freedom
Party. Which lead to the men became immersed in a political discussion . Leaving the office,
Nesbitt was concerned about where he now stood with the law firm after their heated discussion.
One week after the interview he received a letter informing him that although he impressed them,
the could not hire him because of his strong affiliation with the Freedom party . Also, stating that
if they were to hire him they would stand to lose upwards of 50% of our valued clientele, should
we begin courting ties with the Freedom Party. The first, and most obvious course of action that
Nesbitt is likely to try and take would be to sue for discrimination. They denied him a job that he
had an extremely successful interview for, and

Coming of Age in Mississippi vs. The Jungle Paper
Coming of Age in Mississippi vs. The Jungle Paper
There is an argument that states that Anne Moody s tale in Coming of Age in Mississippi is a
more optimistic tale then that of Jurgis Rutkis in The Jungle and vice versa. This is not the case.
When you take the time to analyze both story, you come to find that both have the same pessimistic
core. The only difference is the character Jurgis was optimist throughout most of the beginning
despite his circumstances yet in the end he loses all hope while Anne throughout was a realist who
was determined to succeed.
I feel that Anne Moody story is a blunt open description of how hard live was for Blacks.
Anne never minced words when it came to the events that took place in her life; a lot ... Show more

She was determined to seek out equality. These realities started when she became aware of the
differences in how Blacks are treated with in their race how light skinned were treated better than
dark skinned. Raymond was going with a yellow woman at the same time he was going with
Mama. All of his people wanted him to marry her. They didn t want him to marry
Mama, who wasn t yellow and who was stuck with the three of us. This type of racism is prevalent
in the south during the pre Civil Rights period. Ms. Moody learns how badly White
People can treat Black by the death of Emmit Till.
When faced with the facts of Moody s life, it is not hard to figure out where the inspiration and
optimism comes in to play. A person can find hope when thinking about the dedication and diligence
she took in being a good student from elementary through high school.
The optimism comes from looking at how she scrapes together the money it took to go to college.
Even though she might have grown up with a hard life, she fought for different ways to better it.
Her diligence to have a better life is best described by her commitment to the Civil
Rights movement. She was willing to go the distance to get the equal rights she felt was owed to
her. Look at how Moody kept pressing to get blacks in Mississippi to register to vote. At the time,
little more the 5% of African Americans in Mississippi were registered voters. This is in large part

The Spread And Continued Reproduction Of The Northern...
The Problem Domain
The spread and continued reproduction of the Northern Snakehead in the Potomac river has
been and will continue to be a threat to the integrity of the local ecosystem. The Northern
Snakehead is causing a disturbance in the local ecosystem. These fish need to either be removed
from the ecosystem or their spread halted. Since their discovery in Crofton, Maryland, drastic
measures have been taken in the past to rapidly eradicate this species regardless of lasting effects.
Most of the previous solutions include dumping large quantities of poison, draining bodies of
water, and encouraging fishing. In many cases this has caused bodies of water to be unuseable for
extended periods of time. It is for these reasons we would like ... Show more content on

Because of this, Rayner Creese suggest removing native fish, draining when possible, and clearing
vegetation, to ensure maximum effectiveness. They also suggest ensuring that there is sufficient
poison such that the final amount in the water is enough to kill the fish [1].
The diminishing amounts of poison in the local waterway, by the river flowing, is something that
must be carefully considered. The article is promising in that it suggests that the poison flowing
down river will be in a low enough concentration so as to not cause much harm. This also suggests
that a controlled, continuous release will need to occur to maintain a lethal amount of poison on
the targeted portion of the river.
Potency of Rotenone on Other Species
The Public Library of Science, PLOS, published a research article in 2015 in PLOS|One, which
covers experiments done with rotenone and its effect at different concentrations over a period of 18
hours. This article, titled An Assessment of the Effect of Rotenone on Non Target Aquatic Fauna,
was authored by Dalu, Wasserman, Jordaan, Froneman, and Weyl. These people are members of the
Department of Zoology and Entomology of Rhodes University, South African Institute for Aquatic
Biodiversity, Centre for Invasion Biology, and Scientific Services Department in South Africa.

Types Of Decentralization
2.3.Types of Decentralization Decentralization belongs to many types, depending on the
characteristics, policy implications and condition for success. Political, administrative, fiscal and
market decentralization are the fundamental types of decentralization. There are different terms and
words for defining the types of decentralization and there may also have various ways to operate
them. However, the comprehensive approach is more vital than defining. It can be observed that
every country has its own type of functioning decentralization and each local department may have
unique combinations. 2.3.1.Political Decentralization Political decentralization involves the
transfer of decision making power and accountability to local levels. It often involves some form of
devolution the transfer of responsibilities to Local governments that have been granted significant
autonomy. In democratic Decentralization these local governments are accountable to local
populations through Elections and/or other means. In the context of international practice, the
political decentralization aims to give citizens or their elected representatives more power. It may
be associated with pluralistic politics and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It may also take the relatively modest form of de concentration in which officials at lower levels are
given more authority or discretion, but remain accountable totheir chiefs at the center.
Decentralization could also be combined with the devolution ofexecutive authority to local
governments. Delegation is the shifting of functions to semi orwholly independent organizations
outside the core government sector (for example toindependent authorities, or in privatization, to
private firms). The major forms of administrative decentralization are de concentration, devolution

Zespri- the Kiwi Fruit Industry
MEMORANDUM
To: Director of University of Auckland Business School Case Centre
From: Rebecca Machado
Date: 27th April 2011
Re:A critical review of the industry in which New Zealand Company Zespri International operates,
and the company s strategy and business model.
INTRODUCTION:
1409 was the start of New Zealand long and prosperous relationship with Kiwifruit growing.
Ironically, the kiwifruit seeds themselves were brought back by Whanganui teacher Mabel Fisher
after a trip in China. Horticulturist, Alexandra Allison nurtured and sprouted the seeds that have
now turned into an iconic Kiwi industry. Hayward Wright is the man responsible for the start of the
Zespri brand. Exploiting the rich, volcanic soils from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The industry in which Zespri functions in within New Zealand can be broken up into three broad
value generating activities. The first activity is growing of kiwifruit which pertains to the orchards
and includes pest and disease control and harvesting. The second includes the post harvesting
activities including grading, packing and storing. The final stage and perhaps the most intrinsic
stage includes the exporting. This includes the selling and distribution of the kiwifruit to overseas
markets. Zespri International group is responsible for marketing almost all the export quality fruit
from New Zeland. The only exclusion being the Austrailian Market.
COMPANY STRATEGY
Ensuring success was not always easy for Zespri. In fact it can be said that the mere creation
itself of Zespri by the New Zealand Kiwifruit Industry was a branding strategy created to regain
the lost opportunity taken by New Zealands lower cost counter parts; Chile and Italy (cvtb). It
seemed as though the new strategy was a valid attempt to develope and sustain a market
orientation within the broad Kiwifruit industry.Zespri s structure was always said to be from the
Market to the orchard as opposed to traditionally being the other way around (cvtb). The brand
strategy s main aim was to differentiate New Zealand s own kiwifruit as being something iconic
and premium as a product. The aim furthered out to moving Zespri out from

How Television Programs Can Support And Facilitate Word...
Introduction
For many years, parents have relied on using educational programs to teach and engage their
children with new concepts and materials. Conversely, many children have also used television as
an opportunity for learning and language development. For example, the rise of television programs
like Elmo Street and Teletubbies demonstrates this upward trend of substituting media sources for
teaching and learning. However, despite the increasing support from parents toward television
programs, many researchers have mixed reviews on putting our children into viewing long hours
of what they considered unnecessary learning. Thus in what follows of this paper, I will focus on
explaining how television programs can support and facilitate word development. Moreover, I
will also discuss the mixed literacy support for using television as a learning tool and finally, I will
conduct a study that measures, specifically, the relationship between watching educational TV and
learning novel words. Hopefully, with these measures, I will be able to find supporting evidence
that proves educational TV can be a good predictor for word learning.
Throughout the years, one continuous point of debate has been whether educational TV can
facilitate and improve word learning in children. Many studies on this debate have found distinct
and mixed research outcomes. For example, one study has been Mabel s Rice Word from Sesame
Street, in which he found mixed supporting evidence that television

3d Research Papers
New Medical Research shows that 3 D printing can be used to reproduce human cells by bio
printing blood vessels and human tissue. Medical Research has shown that 3 D printing of the
tissue can be a new invasive treatment for individuals that need rapid acting, life saving treatment
and the most cost effective option. There are a variety of different types of 3 D printers.
However, with each 3 D printer they each produce their own unique and distinct objects. The usage
of each 3 D printer differs from one another. In the terms of bio printing its provides many benefits
such as providing the production of medication, or a tissue. Furthermore 3 D printing can be also

According to Spiewak, the advantages of bio printing are the ability to integrate vascularization,
ability to generate tissue, controlled delivery of growth genes, precise patterning of cells, ability
to co culture multiple cell types locally, enables fabrication of anatomically correct shapes, along
with allowing fabrication of porous structures (18). On the flip side, some ethical concerns that
many individuals may have on research are the cost, production control, complications, and the
organs made with nonhuman cells (Griggs 20). Individuals may believe that bio printing may
be expensive and only will qualify for the wealthy. However, that can t be determined since the
medical research of bio printing organs is still in the beginning stage and is years of a way of
production of a viable organ for transplantation. Sifferlin notes Dr. Macchiarini research that he
plans to conduct a clinical trial to properly assess the risks and benefits of the procedure, and
document how bodies react to the transplanted devices. Hopefully those trials will show that it s
possible to regenerate not just organs but hope as well. (13.) Every major surgery of course comes
with a risk; however, every individual has the right to take on the risk if they please. Most
individual will not be concerned with the ethical concerns, since saving human life surely
outweighs every

  • 4. The Neurobiological Factors Associated with Depression Essay The Neurobiological Factors Associated with Depression Depression is a mood disorder that affects approximately ten percent of men and nearly twenty five percent of women at least once in their lifetime (1). There are several types of clinical depression, such as unipolar depression and bipolar depression. Unipolar depression consists of primarily depressive states while bipolar depression involves a fluctuation between states of depression and mania (2). Some of the most common symptoms of depression include excessive feelings of sadness, guilt, or worthlessness, a significant change in appetite, insomnia or hypersomnia, energy loss, thoughts or attempts of suicide, and anhedonia (3), (4). While the symptoms of depression are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While some of the findings from these genetic studies are still preliminary, several investigations have indicated that the role of certain neurotransmitters, called monoamines, in depression is immense (7). Neurotransmitters are chemicals in the brain that bind to receptors in order to excite or inhibit the firing of neurons (6). The Catecholamine Theory of Mood was proposed as a major explanation for the cause of depression in the 1960s by Joseph Schildkraut (7). Schildkraut suggested that a deficiency of the neurotransmitter norepinephrine at receptor sites caused depression while increased levels of norepinephrine caused mania. Some evidence for Schildkraut s account was established by the success rate of monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor drugs, which block the reuptake of monoamines and facilitate the release of neurotransmitters such as norepinephrine and serotonin (8). Further evidence has been established by studies that found decreased norepinephrine levels in the cerebrospinal fluid of deceased depressed patients (5). More recently, drugs have been developed that selectively block the reuptake of norepinephrine by the presynaptic cell. It has been found in preliminary studies that the level of depression decreases in these patients, which provides further evidence for the role of norepinephrine in depression. While empirical support for the Catecholamine Theory of Mood has grown substantially, evidence from more recent studies highlights the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Blood Imagery In Macbeth Essay In Shakespeare s Macbeth a play, a man named Macbeth goes through a great transformation; Macbeth goes from being a heroic general in the king s army to an assassin and a tyrant. The theme of the play is never give into evil because it destroys no matter what the benefits are. Blood Imagery is very important in the play; it shows Macbeth s evil ambition in the beginning, middle, and end of the play. In the beginning of the play, blood imagery is very important. quot;Till he unseamed him from the nave to the chaps, / and fixed his head upon our battlements quot;(I.ii.22 23). Banquo s ghost haunts Macbeth, and Macbeth is unable to face it. Macbeth s evil ambition usually leaves Macbeth feeling at peace or safe, but now his ambition has left him with a painful vision of his dead friend. quot; What, you egg! / Young fry of treachery! / He has killed me quot;(IV.ii.79 82). Macbeth has sent his men to catch and kill Macduff, and instead Macbeth s men kill Macduff s innocent son and later his wife. Macbeth is now giving orders to kill woman and children; he has become a complete tyrant. In addition to the middle, blood imagery is important to the end of the play. quot;Out, damned spot! out quot;(V.i.28). Lady Macbeth s guilt has overcome her; every night she scrubs her hands to remove the blood, the guilt of killing. Lady Macbeth pays for her husband s crimes with her life. quot;He s worth more sorrow, / And that I ll spend for him. / He s worth no more. / they say he parted well, and paid his score quot;(V.viii.51 53). • 6. The Ten Commandments In The Scarlet Letter The story of the Ten Commandments in the Bible is a story many know, but sometimes disregard its importance. While the Jews were wandering in the desert, God spoke to Moses and told him to go to the top of Mt. Sinai. Moses, without second guessing, obeyed. When he got there, God gave him two stone tablets. Each tablet had a list of rules that would help keep the Jews from sinning. After they were listed, there was a flash of lightning, a roar of thunder, the sound of a trumpet, and release of smoke around the mountain. The Jews grew uneasy and shared with Moses that they were afraid. Moses informed them that God was only trying to scare them so that they would not sin. The Ten Commandmentsare significant to both the Jewish followers in the story and to people of many religions around the world. They were the original guidelines for the people who were starting their new lives in a new promised land. These were scary times, especially with so much uncertainty. They had to put their faith in one man: Moses. Moses who himself blindly put his faith in God who promised to lead him to a chosen land as long as they promised to uphold the Ten Commandments. • 7. Star Wars Argumentative Essay Under normal circumstances, when a fairly large franchise film is coming out, you could be forgiven for forgetting about the accompanying video game that inevitably comes along with it. Ranging from painful cash grabs to satisfying tie ins, film inspired games usually appear the afterthought of the Hollywood marketing process. But Star Wars: the Force Awakens isn t a fairly large franchise film, and these are by no means normal circumstances. A little under a month ahead of what could quite possibly be the biggest cinematic release of all time, we fans have not just a shameless tie in but a fully fledged reboot of one of the most loved franchises in Star Wars enormous gaming catalogue. And while that may be as much a result of rose tinted nostalgia and remarkably consistent marketing of Disney as it is anything else, EA DICE s Star Wars Battlefront has quite some expectations to meet now it s finally here. As you more than likely know by now, Star Wars Battlefront is an entirely multiplayer focused game. Players are given the choice between the Multiplayer modes and Battlefront s Missions mode, but the emphasis is placed heavily on the former. Within Multiplayer, there are nine other modes to choose from, varying between the large scale, frenetic 40 player battles of Walker Assault and Supremacy, and the more intimate, small sided modes like Droid Run and Hero Hunt. The push to overthrow Bashar began on social media by a group called, Syrian Revolution 2011 against Bashar al Assad (Gelvin 2015). The group scheduled a peaceful protest in Damascus on March 11th to demand the release of political prisoners, which was not successful. A few days later, 10 school children were arrested in Daraa for making statements against the regime. When they were not released, a large group of protestors took it to the streets in protest. The regime opened fire and killed several. Protests spread from city to city across Syria, eventually reaching the largest cities of Damascus and Aleppo (Gelvin 2015). From this moment the situation has spiraled out of control, turning into a civil war and after international intervention, a proxy war. Assignment #7 This paper will examine the work systems and organizational structure of the Healthcare Employees Benefits (HEB) Manitoba. I will explain the current system in place and present how changes in work and technology may affect potential future changes to the work systems. As well, the potential benefits and obstacles to these changes will be explored. HEB Manitoba is the pension and benefit provider for 70,000 active and retired healthcare workers in Manitoba. It emerged from the consolidation of three pension plans during two mergers in the mid 1990s. Since the mergers, it has grown from 12 employees to more than 150 employees. It has a proto typical hierarchal organization, with 1 senior executive, 5 executives, 25 managers and approximately 120 employees. Some managers have no employees reporting to them, but managers with direct reports average about eight employees each. The departments divide according to job function, including finance, corporate services, pensions and benefits, disability and information systems. The majority of the departments split into further sub departments, with the largest department, the pension and benefits department, consisting of 57 employees. Workflow generally stays within one department, but can cross over between departments. Sub departments typically focus on specific tasks, such as reviewing files for data accuracy, preparing pension calculations, or administering the information network. Arguments Against Capitalism Capitalism is defined as an economic and political system in which a country s trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state. Base on the reading and the fading of the word freedom in the background, the term Capitalism is portrayed in a negative light affecting its connotation. I comprehend that the private sector is recognized as a critical driver of economic growth, which contributes significantly to poverty reduction and higher living standards for poor people, Although, the fading of the word freedom emphasizes that capitalism, controlled by private sectors who provides majority of jobs to Americans, contradicts its representation of the free enterprise system. I agree with the pictures intent to question capitalism due to the fact that capitalism is a system based on the principle of individual rights, and the free market, known as the system of Laissez faire. The picture most appropriately responds to the first question of the Stasis Theory which state, Did something happened? The choice of words used by the author created a sarcastic tone resulting in the reader wondering if something happened. The question responds correctly to the statement because it causes one to question and acknowledge that capitalism represents the free market, the principle of individual rights, and the system of Laissez faire, therefore, the word freedom being faded in the background demean the value and importance of the word when the term capitalism represents similar ideals and/or ... • 13. New York s Jewish Museum Crowdsourced Documentation September 16, 2016, Take me (I m Yours) took place at New York s Jewish Museum, as its first ever exhibition made possible by the digital crowdfunding campaign via Kickstarter. With a total $31,018 pledged, 340 backers helped forty two international and intergenerational artists create 400,000+ artworks to be given away during this unconventional exhibition, visitors are encouraged to participate, touch, and even take the artworks on view home with them. Crowdfunding has become commonplace in the art world, but the Jewish Museum launched its first Kickstarter campaign for a number of reasons, of course, in order to fabricate the thousands upon thousands of artworks needed to keep the show fully stocked throughout its run. Also, through Kickstarter platform, it creates a real Receive Me (I m Yours) dynamic for reaching a real community around the museum, staging a online dialogue with its donors, eventually orchestrating a unique network in which participatory behaviours translate the collective online vision into physical space. Take me (I m Yours) aims to create a democratic space for all visitors to take ownership of artworks, and curate their personal art collections, by subverting typical museum practices. Visitors constantly transform the landscape of the galleries, bit by bit, through direct engagement, eventually the exhibition will disappear entirely. • 16. Diffusion Of Displacement Essay Empirical evidence regarding displacement and diffusion of benefits A number of reviews and studies of displacement studies have been conducted since 1990. The first critical examination of displacement was produced by Cornish and Clarke in 1987, and the result showed that overall research stated that displacement is not inevitable, which is not compatible with the traditional criminology predictions (Cornish and Clarke, 1987). In 1990, Barr and Pease examined more research and found out that the evidence witch supported displacement hypothesis was little. They suggested that it is difficult to distinguish displacement from natural offender behavior. Moreover, they also suggested that some forms of displacement could be beneficial, i.e., less harmful crime types (Barr and Pease, 1990). This is the similar idea of benign displacement. Eck made a systematic review of the 33 empirical research and studies on displacement and suggested that there is more reason to expect no displacement than a great deal ... In today s society, many people put work and career pursuits at the top of their metaphorical list of priorities. In a world driven a million miles an hour by commercial success, it is a wonder anyone has time to stop and smell the roses with the people they care about. In Contents of a Dead Man s Pockets , Jack Finney expresses the importance of enjoying life rather than chasing fruitless ambition through extensive symbolism and a touch of satire. Tom s reflection shortly thereafter on all of the time spent on his project emphasizes the colossal waste of his life that his ambitions are. Finney says about these side projects, They were the way to change from a name on a payroll to a name in the minds of the company officials. They were the beginning of the long, long climb to where he was determined to be, at the very top, and goes on to say, And he knew he was going out there in the darkness, after the yellow sheet fifteen feet beyond his reach. These statements establish the connection between the darkness and his project (representing ambition as a whole) for the first time. Tom Benecke decides to go out and chase his ambitions by walking along the ledge on the building. Jack Finney proceeds to set up his satirical scramble for power. Tom climbs out the window and is struck by the shift from the warmth and comfort of his home to the cold, harsh outdoors. Heat Loss Investigation Essay Heat Loss Investigation Introduction ============ In this investigation I will investigate heat loss and heat transfer in different materials and I will also investigate which materials are the best insulators. A material that prevents this heat loss is called an insulator and this helps to keep the object that is being insulated warmer for, longer. Heat is generally transferred in three different methods: Conduction Convection Radiation Conduction is energy transferred from the hotter part of a solid to the colder part of conduction. Because the liquid loses its higher energy particles, the liquid that is left has less energy, so it becomes cooler. I will test two types of insulation to see which is the best at preventing heat loss I will use black card, and tin foil to insulate the beaker filled with water. I will also do this twice one in a small beaker and once in a larger beaker. I will investigate also if I use more water will this affect the heat loss. If I use more water will this hold insulate the water more? So overall I will have four sets of results. Factors of the experiment ========================= In this experiment there are many different factors that could affect my experiment and the results I achieve, the factors are: The amount of water used in each experiment If I use a large of amount of water this will mean that the water will cool down slower and therefore stay warmer for longer. So the more water I use the longer the water will stay warm, so if I use a small amount of water it will cool down quick. Type of Insulation I will use This will change the amount of heat loss significantly. Different types of material insulate differently depending on how efficiently the material

August Schmarsow likens the role of the architect as similar to a conductor in an orchestra. The conductors of space . A quite romantic notion, but why has the trust diminished between client and architect? In the UK, for example, most clients are now seeking developers rather than employ an architect. To which there is certain logic, why employ an external body who will not only cost more, but may start to deploy their own ideas onto the scheme? Surely the client calls the shots because of their larger wallet? Here in lies the problem. • 28. The Characters Being Dead In The Song Of Solomon Song of Solomon Questions 1. The characters being dead in the text can be related to their race and/or their gender. Milkman can be seen as dead because he has no purpose in life; he doesn t seem to know what being black means like the other characters in the text do, and he doesn t realize how him being a man affects the females in the text. Most of the women are dead because they are left behind or controlled by the men in the story. They do not take their lives for their own, so they do not have one; they can be considered dead. However, Pilate could break this trend because unlike the other females she takes her life for herself and controls it. Later on in the story, Guitar can be seen as dead even though it s not apart of his name. He lets his life be controlled by anger and hunger. Despite him justifying his actions with the Seven Days as justice, he does this based on anger and cannot answer Milkman s questions on the ethical view of it. He also seeks to take the life of Milkman when he suspects he s run off with the gold. 2. The song in the novel gives insight on the background knowledge that Milkman is looking for about his family. The events that the song describes can also be applied to Milkman and the people around him. Those who know the Song of Solomon do not question Solomon flying off and leaving behind everyone. As Old Testament generations pass, the gap between expectation and reality widens, and God must establish commandments of His desire for humanity through Moses. His want is for humanity to love Him by way of obedience out of fear of His power. It is not possible for humans to fear or love Godwithout keeping to his commandments. Therefore God s ultimate desire for humanity is obedience, displayed in His readiness to favor those who submit to him and punish though who do not. From the beginning of Creation in Genesis, it is evident that obedience is what God asks of man. The first man and woman are free to live as they please in Eden: working the garden, naming the animals, and eating the fruits. • 38. Observation Of An Afterschool Ambassador Tracy is 11 (almost 12) years old who attends American Preparatory Academy, a charter school focused on academics and citizenship. I chose to observe an afterschool Ambassador program involving the sixth grade. Tracy was a great choice, due to her being an officer, which required her to be more involved in leading the ambassador activity. She comes from a Tongan family and is taller than average, with a weight that would be considered slightly heavier than the national average. Knowing that genes are involved may slow down the impulse to blame people for being overweight. (Berger, 2016 p. 243). She had developed breasts, curves, and appeared to be more mature for her age. Tongan women typically have a higher BMI than caucasian women. The sixth grade was to visit several stations where different learning activities were organized. The first station started with some basic yoga, where each student stood in a Tadasana pose next to their desk. Tracy closed her eyes and balanced with ease, lifting her foot, (advanced move) while concentrating on her breathing. She appeared to have more developed coordination than her peers. The next station used targets and balls for the learning exercise. She was one of the few females able to get the balls into the baskets each shot. When the ball was thrown back to her for the next try, her reaction time was impeccable. Beyond the sheer fun of playing, the benefits of physical activity especially games with rules, which ... • 39. The Flawed System Of American Education The Flawed System of American Education The United States of America used to be known as one of the greatest countries to be apart of. From the jobs to the economy to education people loved to be apart of the American culture. The problem many Americans are facing today is poor education. Since America is viewed as a high profile country many people have prominent expectations on what they are receiving, specifically the education. The fact is that there are major problems with all levels of the education system today. Starting with early education, teachers are quick to say children needs to be medicated or put into special education. Proceeding to the general or high school education where kids are graduating but not prepared for what s after. Lastly how higher education or college can hardly be afforded in today s society. As a result of the failing education system, many parents blame the child or society when in actuality the failing system is corrupted by some teachers, lack of preparation, and lack of affordability in higher education. One of the most popular conversations parents have when their child is born is education. A question that comes up is when should the child start school? The usual age to start kindergarten is about five to six years of age. At a young age kids are like a sponge and learn a lot in the first few years. Teachers are a great influence on the children considering they are at school between seven to eight hours a day. Over time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Resilienceis the ability to remain positive in the face of adversity, which is not the same as not having distress or denying it (Music, 2011). • 41. Motivations and Methodology of Mass Murderers Essay Introduction Mass murder is defined by the FBI as the killing of three or more people in a single event or in the same day (Petersen Farrington, 2007). Mass murderers are complex and can be examined by the many factors that regularly appear among them, such as violence precipitating events, weapon of choice, and mental illnesses. The motivations and methods for committing mass murderare easily broken down into specific groups, and through the examination of these definitions and specific cases there is much to learn about the mind of a mass murderer. History Throughout history mass murder has not been a problem to the same level and in the same sense as it is today. A related occurrence that is seen in history, which can be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The event of mass murder as known today, postal workers going postal and school massacres, has been emerging as a more regular occurrence throughout the last century (Lester, Stack, Schmidtke, Schuller Muller, 2005). Starting with the Vietnam War era, there have been an increasing number of mass murders, which share a causal link to the increased militarization of American Society. The introduction of semiautomatic weapons in mainstream society gives the opportunity for explosive and gratuitously violent events such as have been seen in recent years (Hamamoto, 2002). The increase in graphically violent war movies and first person video games, full of violent images and massive destruction, lend a hand in the building of a society that is hyperaware of war level violence. Legal Concerns The central legal concern associated with mass murder has been gun control. More specifically the aftermath of Columbine can be examined to show the range of gun control concerns. A result of the Columbine massacre, the most terrible mass shooting in United States history, was the media calling for more gun control and identifying too many guns and too little control as the cause of the attack (Kelck, 2009). It is important to note that while this attack was horrendous, it comes nowhere close to the number of victims in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Thus confirming the superiority of the white race. Conrad further marginalises and degrades the African characters and race not only through the denial of language but also the denial of human form. The disembodiment continues when Marlow encounters the chain gang at the outer station. It is when seeking shade however that Marlow stumbles upon the grove of death. Coming of Age in Mississippi vs. The Jungle Paper Coming of Age in Mississippi vs. The Jungle Paper There is an argument that states that Anne Moody s tale in Coming of Age in Mississippi is a more optimistic tale then that of Jurgis Rutkis in The Jungle and vice versa. This is not the case. When you take the time to analyze both story, you come to find that both have the same pessimistic core. The only difference is the character Jurgis was optimist throughout most of the beginning despite his circumstances yet in the end he loses all hope while Anne throughout was a realist who was determined to succeed. The optimism comes from looking at how she scrapes together the money it took to go to college. Even though she might have grown up with a hard life, she fought for different ways to better it. Her diligence to have a better life is best described by her commitment to the Civil Rights movement. She was willing to go the distance to get the equal rights she felt was owed to her. Political, administrative, fiscal and market decentralization are the fundamental types of decentralization. There are different terms and words for defining the types of decentralization and there may also have various ways to operate them. However, the comprehensive approach is more vital than defining. It can be observed that every country has its own type of functioning decentralization and each local department may have unique combinations. 2.3.1.Political Decentralization Political decentralization involves the transfer of decision making power and accountability to local levels. It often involves some form of devolution the transfer of responsibilities to Local governments that have been granted significant autonomy. The final stage and perhaps the most intrinsic stage includes the exporting. This includes the selling and distribution of the kiwifruit to overseas markets. • 50. How Television Programs Can Support And Facilitate Word... Introduction For many years, parents have relied on using educational programs to teach and engage their children with new concepts and materials. Conversely, many children have also used television as an opportunity for learning and language development. For example, the rise of television programs like Elmo Street and Teletubbies demonstrates this upward trend of substituting media sources for teaching and learning. However, despite the increasing support from parents toward television programs, many researchers have mixed reviews on putting our children into viewing long hours of what they considered unnecessary learning. Thus in what follows of this paper, I will focus on explaining how television programs can support and facilitate word development. Moreover, I will also discuss the mixed literacy support for using television as a learning tool and finally, I will conduct a study that measures, specifically, the relationship between watching educational TV and learning novel words. Hopefully, with these measures, I will be able to find supporting evidence that proves educational TV can be a good predictor for word learning. Throughout the years, one continuous point of debate has been whether educational TV can facilitate and improve word learning in children. Many studies on this debate have found distinct and mixed research outcomes. For example, one study has been Mabel s Rice Word from Sesame Street, in which he found mixed supporting evidence that television ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On the flip side, some ethical concerns that many individuals may have on research are the cost, production control, complications, and the organs made with nonhuman cells (Griggs 20).
