Mobile Crisis Center Empowerment
For this blog post I researched the Way station organization. They do a lot of wonderful work to help
people who have a mental illness. The services that provide include homeless outreach, Mobile crisis
center, outpatient mental health clinic, residential Rehabilitation and residential crisis center. The
homeless outreach program is all about finding homeless individuals with mental health problems,
connecting them with services that can help them with their basic needs and treatment for their mental
illness. The mobile crisis center is a number that can be call for immediate help when one is having a

They provide a safe place for them to heal and teach them the Necessary skills they need to live a
productive life. I really like the idea that they reach out to the homeless who need treatment for a
mental illness because a lot of them are suffering and do not have the means to get treatment. The way
station relates perfectly to the gernalist social work practice in a lot of different ways. First way that it
relates is that it uses the empowerment theory. Here is a quote from their website about empowerment
Finding strength within. Encouraging the autonomy of both our consumers and staff using teamwork
to achieve individualized goals and personal growth and development. Assuring accessibility. This
quote was the essence of the empowerment theory because it is talking about using the client s
strengths to help them overcome any obstacles that are ones way of living a healthy life. Also, Way
Station is about helping people find the services that they need. This organization is amazing and
provides a bunch of services that help a lot of people in Maryland. It makes me happy to know that
there is a organization so close to where I live that helps thousands of people in need.it is just
awesome to know there is a place that can many different services that they so desperately

The Church Of England In The Canterbury Tales
During the time period that The Canterbury Tales was written, England went under massive changes
of all kind, specifically religious, political, and medically. The changes of this time inspired many of
the stories and characters as most of them formed their lives around these changes. During this era of
England, the Church of England gained immense amounts of influence, enough to have control over
the King himself. The characters named the Pardoner and the Summoner were both from the church,
or so they pretend. Their stature with the church gave them respect among the other members of the
group heading to Canterbury. The character, the Doctor, took advantage of the sick by telling them that
they need a special medicine that only his friend sells. The plan was that the Doctor would send
people to his friend for a special deal and the Doctor would get a cut of the profit from his friend. As
the church rose to power, they officially had their own military power in forms of knights and squires.
Their influence stretched far and wide, only becoming even larger by the holy wars being fought
throughout Europe. The church turned their knights into crusaders and ordered them to go to places
such as Alexandria, Benamarin, Flanders, and other places around Europe. It was revealed that the
Knight and the Squire were indirectly mentioned as being part of the crusades. It was revealed by how
they were mentioned to have been in those cities at the same time of the crusades.

The National Bureau Of Economic Analysis (NBER)
The business cycle is a series of quantified ups and downs in economies across the world, similar to
the manner in which humans breathe. A positive breath inward to bring oxygen to the lungs, a negative
breath outward to push carbon dioxide out of the lungs, designed to keep the respiratory system at
equilibrium. Without the outward breath, the inward breath would not occur. The business cycle works
in the same manner ¬¬ expansions or boom periods acting as the breath inward, and contractions or
recessions acting as the breath outward. Both are necessary for an economy to function, and one
would not be able to exist without the other. This is the crux of the issue of recessions: they are a
necessary occurrence, not an evil, in the context ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This result again supports both assertions that the 2008 recession follows the same manner of change
as the preceding recession, and supports the assertion that the change in 2008 was of a much larger

during the 2008 recession being equal to 7.26% compared to a 2.84% change for the 2001

Salem Witchcraft Trials Dbq Analysis
Throughout the 1600s to 1700s, the American colonies expanded and developed very quickly despite
societal tension with the Native Americans, politics, economics, and religion. During these times,
tension led many times to conflict. Both Bacon s Rebellion of 1676 and the Salem witchcraft trials of
1692 reflected the growing gap between rich and poor, but were fueled by two different scapegoats
respectively, the Indians and religious superstition. Nathaniel Bacon and his followers were poor,
landless frontiersmen searching for land in Virginia where there were already many plantations.
Frustrated, they were angry that the Virginia s Governor William Berkeley refused to seek revenge on
the Indians for attacking them, their land, and their

The Pros And Cons Of Under Armour
Under Armour has severely limited its product offerings due to its primary target market, which is
geared mainly towards male athletes, aged 12 24. Their lack of diversity is a notable competitive
disadvantage to industry rivals Nike and Adidas. However, we have recently witnessed the growth in
demand for athletic wear apparel 6% (Marc Bain), as well as the growth in female sports engagement
across the United States (Statista). A potential strategic alternative could be to significantly expand on
their athletic apparel line. This expansion would primarily target female athletes within the same male
target range. In order to enhance the success in this field, they should continue to add to the eight
women (Under Armour Roster) who are currently apart of the Under Armour endorsement roster.
Pros and Cons Analysis 1:
In our first strategy we suggest that Under Armour expands their women s line to tap its thriving
market segment. Nike s women s department accounted for $5.7 billion in fiscal 2015 in comparison
to $4.5 billion in 2013. In recent years, women have transitioned to wearing athletic apparel as
leisurewear. Lululemon, a flagship store known for it women s athletic apparel has incurred an
annualized growth rate of 23.5% over the past five years (Soni). There is surely a strong market for
women s athletic apparel. With such strong growth in the industry over the past few years, the
competition is beginning to establish their place in the market. With Nike s and

The Reproductive Right Debate Essays
No other element of the Women s Rights Movement has generated as much controversy as the debate
over reproductive rights. As the movement gained momentum so did the demand for birth control, sex
education, family planning and the repeal of all abortion laws. On January 22, 1973 the Supreme
Court handed down the Roe v. Wade decision which declared abortion fundamental right. The ruling
recognized the right of the individual to be free from unwanted governmental intrusion into matters so
fundamentally affecting a person as the right of a woman to decide whether or not to terminate her
pregnancy. (US Supreme Court, 1973) This federal level ruling took effect, legalizing abortion for all
women nationwide. In a 2006 study conducted by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
495) Abortions were linked to low birth rates of American children, and fear was spread that with the
continuing birth rates, the population would no longer be able to reproduce itself The fear was that
lower class and immigrant children would soon make up the majority. Abortion was seen as a
privilege more available to the higher classes than the lower ones, thus explaining the imbalance in
birth rates. (Linders, 1998) Another key issue in the argument to criminalize abortions was the attempt
by doctors to establish exclusive rights to practice medicine. They wanted to prevent midwives,
apothecaries, and other untrained practitioners from competing with them for patients and patient fees.
Rather than openly admitting to such motivations, the newly formed American Medical Association
(AMA) argued that abortion was both immoral and dangerous. By 1910, all but one state had
criminalized abortion except where necessary, in a doctor s judgment, to save the woman s life.
Should the woman die in that situation, it would not be because of the abortion but in spite of it.
(p.494) In this way, legal abortion was successfully transformed into a physicians only practice.

Man Is The Cause Of Climate Change
Imagine this; Our world with thick coal colored clouds, we re having to wear gas masks to breathe.
Animals, except fish, are going extinct due to not having grass to eat. There isn t any fresh water so
we have to boil our water over terribly hot fires. The nights are freezing cold and the days are
extremely hot with humid thick air, even sometimes there are immensely strong rainstorms of acid
rain. Our world doesn t need to be like this; Man is the cause of climate change due to the overuse of
fossil fuels, using aerosol products, and even deforestation.. sw3The most impactful way man causes
climate change is through burning fossil fuels, we as humans cause air pollution directly through our
use of gases, electricity and transportation. Also air pollution can be caused indirectly, when we buy
our food and other goods it uses energy to create, clean, and ship the item. The foremost way we cause
air pollution is through emissions from vehicles, and even greenhouses use fossil fuels, the greenhouse
effect makes it warmer. How the greenhouse effect works is that chemicals are let out into the
atmosphere then some of the chemicals absorbs heat, some examples of greenhouse gases are nitrous
oxide , methane, ozone, and carbon dioxide. Another way man causes climate change is by the use of
aerosol cans and product. Aerosols effect on Earth s climate is that it will scatter light

1.1 General
Make sure that the circuit breaker is filled with gas and that the first operation is already carried out.
Quite often the local operation of a circuit breaker is interlocked with the disconnector position on the
both sides of the breaker i.e. the related disconnectors have to in open position to enable the local
operation of the breaker. The thermostat for the dehydrate heater should be set approximately to 10
C, if not otherwise stated in the manufacturer s manual. Close the spring charging motor supply
miniature circuit breaker. Generally the charging time should not exceed 15 seconds. Switch the
breaker for local control. Before connecting the control voltage on make sure that no wiring mistakes
are done, resulting a continuos voltage to be applied to the trip coils. 1.2 Necessary testing equipment
*Micro ohm meter for contact resistance checking (with supply cables)
*Timer for timing tests

Jose Marti Rhetorical Analysis
José Martí s Stance on the Government s Role in Ensuring Virtuosity
Through the writings of José Martí, a reader witnesses his strong love for justice, virtue, and duty. His
writings illustrate, with fantastic diction, Martí s profound distaste for those who are not virtuous;
specifically governments that are not virtuous. The theme that is consistently found in the work of
Martí is his belief that the government is ultimately responsible for the acts carried out by its citizens.
He believes that the government creates the monsters which it so desperately attempts to eliminate.
And, in multiple essays, Martí makes clear that he believes the only way to prevent the acts of these
monsters is by the government leading its citizens to a life of virtuosity through their own
demonstration of such character.
Martí follows the several key trials that he believes provide evidence for the government s need to
accept responsibility for what is done by its citizens. In, The trial of Guiteau, the reader learns about
Charles J. Guiteau who was convicted in the killing of President Garfield. In this essay, Martí is
adamant about ensuring that no one forgives the convicted murderer for his deed. In one sentence
Martí states, He does not arouse pity; he does not arouse forgiveness; he arouses no desire to excuse
him and goes on to say, There is no place for him in men s hearts, only in their hatred (95). Yet, the
irony of his statements becomes evident through the sentence immediately following the latter when
Martí explains that Reason demands that his [the convicted murderer] life be spared because he
believes that killing the monster is inadequate way of ending power s nature to grow monsters... (95).
Thus, while Martí strongly believes that no forgiveness should be shown to Guiteau, he still believes
that Guiteau deserves to live because his execution would not change the reason why it happened.
Instead, Martí believes that only the government can prevent what happened by changing what caused
it. Moreover, it could be loosely said that he does not believe the Guiteau is responsible for the death
of the president; instead he believes that the government under which Guiteau lived is responsible.
Ultimately, Martí

Paul Laurence Dunbar We Wear The Mask Summary
A typical problem that has plagued human beings since the beginning of time. Emotions that flutter in
all directions, and consume our inner conscious. What is the typical way of dealing with the problems
that we face? Typically, we mask our emotions. Put them aside to rot in our mind, and eat away at our
own self. As human beings it is the norm. The normal way of dealing with our problems is to not pay
attention to them Stowing them away so we can go out into the real world. Inevitably leaving your
own being to face the problems in a time of loneliness. Waving the white flag: indulging yourself in a
conflict that is hard to face. Feelings of sadness and depression can way heavy on one. Laying a path

Compared to one another, they both get across the point of masking your emotions. Hiding the
feelings, you have on the inside, and broadcasting them positively on the outside. You may feel
sadness, and guilt on the inside, but on the outer layer; you smile, laugh, and enjoy life. Though
Robinson s poem ends in suicide. We can still interpret the theme of masking your emotions. They
both have underlying tones to their stories. Dunbar s is targeting the African American community,
while we get the interpretation that Robinson is speaking of society as a whole. Allowing us to
compare the views of each, and their point of emphasis on what they are trying to get across to the
reader. Overall, both writers to a well job in creating a world that we all live in. Surprisingly, in such a
short amount of stanzas. Both draw the attention of the audience because it is subject that we can
connect to. The feelings that we feel, and our shameless attempts to hide them from others. Even
though they build up their poems in a different way. Dunbar is a mellow tone, and tone of constant
sadness, while Robinson voices happy words, with a dramatic climax. They both hit the point by
building on it in two distinctive ways. Tales that connect with natural human feelings, and well written
ideas of the human psychological

Extending Education System
Extending the Education System
Andy Nesbitt, superintendent of education for the Grand Erie District School Board stated in an
interview in 2011, There is no exact way to measure how many students return for a fifth year and the
number varies from year to year and at different schools. But, on average, he said that 40% to 50% of
high schoolers are returning for an extra year of study (Ruby). Why is this number so high? In 1921,
the Ontario government enforced a tremendous idea that would improve the education system. They
introduced Grade 13, a fifth grade in high school. The fifth year of high school was known as Grade
13 until 1984, when it was renamed Ontario Academic Credit (OAC). It still acted as the 5th year of

It is how much money Grade 13 took to maintain and provide for the students. That is supposedly the
reason the Ontario government took Grade 13 away.Well, the money the government used to fund
Grade 13, is now being used to fund full time kindergarten. Kindergarten does not benefit a child s
future in any way. It is just there to provide babysitting for parents who do not want their child to stay
at home or with another babysitter. Parents have to understand what would be better for their kids.
Something they will never remember, or something which would allow a student to explore the career
opportunities and find out what they want to do, to contribute to the world. I understand this would be
a heavier burden with government spending but I feel students would benefit in the long run. Grade 13
develops a student s mind to express themselves and it would allow students to find their

The Modern Age Of Islam
The Islamic world has tried to become strong again through both secularism and religion, with neither
answer showing a complete, absolute advantage over the other. This is shown through Atta Turk
completely removing Islam out of the newly formed Turkish society, the Baath Party s secular
ideology while still committing massacre, and Hezbollah using a radicalized form of religion to gain
political strength.
The beginning of the modern age of Islam can be marked with Napoleon s conquest of Egypt and the
subsequent conquest by Britain. This defeat indicated to the leaders of the Islamic world that not only
were they defeated by a Western power, but also by an inferior Western power. Thus, leaders of the
Islamic world, such as Muhammad Ali and al Afghani said that to create a successful society, we must
emulate the West to become strong. This ideology held largely throughout the Islamic world until the
creation of Israel. When Israel fought and destroyed Arab nations in the Six Days War, secular
governments were no longer as widely accepted, leading to the creation of Islamic states and the
further progression of Islamic Fundamentalism. Islamic Fundamentalism uses radicalized Islam,
which can usually be traced directly back to Wahhabism, to try and gain power and political influence
over the region through terror. This clearly corrupted thought clashes with the secular, although also in
many cases corrupted, powers of the world. These opposing viewpoints show that there is no

The Importance Of Strict Gun Control Laws
Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the United States yet in 2016 there were 762 gun related
homicides, 3,550 shooting incidents, and 4,331 shooting victims. Despite strict gun laws Chicago had
one of the deadliest years in history, so are the laws really working? Strict gun control does not mean
that the amount of gun related crime will decrease. So, what is the point in making strict gun control
laws?
Gun control does not work. Chicago is a prime example of this, Chicago has some of the strictest laws
in America but led the country in gun violence in 2016. So why are the gun laws not working? For
starters criminals do not care about the laws, criminals break the laws and gun laws are just more laws
they will break. Once somebody decides they are going to commit a crime such as murder not having
a gun is going to stop the person from committing the murder that person will either possess a firearm
illegally or commit the crime without a gun. Trying to ban firearms is also likely to drastically
increase the black market or street value of the weapons since they will no longer be able to buy them
at a store, assuming that they would even be able to pass a background check to purchase it legally,
and most likely lead to even more crime. Between 2000 and 2013 the majority of active shooter
incidents in American was at schools, colleges, malls, and businesses. The people that go to schools
and businesses to commit murder usually want to commit a mass murder and kill as many innocent
people as they can before they get killed or kill themselves. Since they want mass casualties the
shooters do not want to be shot which is why they go where there are a lot of people and where there
are very few or nobody that is armed and prepared to defend themselves and others. Schools are often
a target of people who want to cause mass casualties since there is usually only one armed and ready
person on campus if that which often makes schools a desirable target, but what if all the faculty and
staff member at the school was trained and carrying a firearm then that would drastically decrease the
chances of somebody wanting to commit mass murder at a school since that person s odds of
murdering more than a one person

Grea Great Bosses
LIKE A BOSS
Are you just an average boss or truly a great one?
No doubt there are as many leadership styles as there are the numbers of leaders. However, I bet there
are some people for whom you would immediately work for over and over again.
You ve said things like: love that guy, changed my life, best boss ever.
Are your employees saying the same about you?
With the help of Gallup poll findings, the Harvard Business Review conducted a two year study of the
daily interactions of over 80,000 managers. This comprehensive research uncovered findings of what
brings out employee devotion and optimal performance.
What makes a great boss?
Research found that the ultimate boss separates him/herself from the supervisor herd by focusing on
employee skills and talents. Successful supervisors have an uncanny ability to discover what is
uniquely awesome about each person, capitalize on that individual s talent, and then build teams and
systems around it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the pieces, you can get through an eight hour day and grind on.
Now think about the game of chess. Each chess piece has its own value and moves in a different way.
Chess is a game of strategic thinking. It s only by using the unique aspects of each piece and

Although the New England and Chesapeake regions of the United States were both settled by the

Settlers in the Chesapeake region used force to take possession of Indian lands. The Chesapeake

Jamestown (the first English colony in the New World) was founded by a group of settlers along the

from Catholicism under Henry VIII, Protestantism flourished in England. Some Protestants, however,
wanted complete separation from Catholicism and looked to Calvinism. These Separatists, along with
the Catholics who had not joined the Church of England, came to New England in hopes of finding
this religious freedom where they would be free to have their own beliefs. The farms that they had
been left with were much smaller and less productive. The farmers were in need of more land, and
they had to fight with Indians over land rights. This had led to Bacon s Rebellion of 1676. Although
the rebellion was not successful, it was one of the major economic and political developments in the
American colonies. New England settlers reproduced much of England s economy, with only minor
variations. They did not invest

Evolution By Natural Selection By Charles Darwin
Evolution by natural selection, proposed by Charles Darwin in 1859, requires a population to have
three necessities. These include variation, which leads to differences in fitness, and a form of heredity
for this variation (Bourrat 2014). Natural selection acts solely by accumulating slight, successive, and
favorable variations and cannot produce great or sudden modifications because it can act only by very
short and slow steps (Darwin 1859). Nevertheless, there are always numerous potential selective
pressures in nature that limit a population s evolution and fitness like predation. Plants form the
foundation on which communities and ecosystems are assembled and which food webs are created.
Accordingly, the understanding of factors that establish plant distribution, abundance is essential for
our understanding of ecology at large. As major constituents of most ecosystems and chronic agents of
plant damage, consumers have great potential to heavily impact plant abundance and distribution
(Maron and Crone 2006). Particularly, herbivore populations like Eurosta solidaginis typically sustain
heavy attacks from tortuous arrays of natural enemies (Bergman and Tingey 1979). They frequently
encounter parasitoid wasps and avian predators, which impact the survival of the gallmakers. If a
survivorship varies among gallmakers with different traits, natural enemy attacks can potentially alter
their traits in later generations (Warren et al. 1989). Based upon other experiments

In a first step we have to postulate when the successful exit is going to happen. Normally this period is
assumed to be between 3 and 7 years long. In our case, we make the assumption that a successful exit
is going to happen in 1999. Since we are only concerned about the successful scenario, we go along
with the projection of AccessLine, which is probably overoptimistic, and use its expected revenue of
208M at the time the exit happens. After the IPO, we presume the company will grow at a high rate
for the next five years in the 75 percentile as proposed by Metrick, Andrew and Ayako Yasuda in their
Venture Capital and the Finance of innovation book. We chose five years since the typical firm
reaches maturity within five years after the IPO. Besides, we assume a tax rate of 30.64% given by the
industry average (Damodaran 2013). As a discount rate, we use simply the industry average.
Alternatively, we could use the Betas of the comparable companies. This gives us an unlevered
average beta of 0.5*(1.39+2.03) since both companies are completely equity financed. The risk free
rate was given by 7.1%, if we assume a risk premium of 5.79% (Damodaran for 1.4.13) we get a cost
of capital of 16.9% using the CAPM equation. Because we only have two comparable companies we
opt to do our calculations with the industry wide average discount rate. The operating margin at the
exit date is estimated in a way that we reach a Net

Sympathy By Paul Laurence Dunbar
With it all, I cannot help being overwhelmed by self doubts. I hope there is something worthy in my
writings and not merely the novelty of a black face associated with the power to rhyme that has
attracted attend , by Paul Laurence Dunbar. ( Paul Laurence Dunbar quotes ) Dunbar was a poet that
experienced many difficult encounters with being African American ( Paul Laurence Dunbar 2 ).
Therefore, going through these multiple sorrows in his life is what inspired his greatest works as a
poet. He uses these difficulties to make poetry that can be influential to readers. Many poets have been
influential on American literature, including Paul Laurence Dunbar (Munroe Paul Laurence Dunbar ).

In the poem Dunbar associated his life and experiences with the words he uses in his poem. He
describes the tougher times in his life, that other people can relate too. Dunbar went through a variety
of events where he couldn t do something because of his ethnicity. That is another example of what he
is trying to relate to in Life s Tragedy . In the poem Dunbar uses alliteration and consonance. For
example in line seven and eight, There the potent sorrow, there the grief, the pale, sad staring. The
people he is speaking to is anyone that has gone through tragedies in their life that struggle to find joy.
Dunbar s perspective in the poem is he has gone through too much sorrow and pain in his time, that
when the good things do come it is difficult to enjoy them as you should. For example in line fifteen
till the end he says, We count our joys not by what we have, But by what kept us from that perfect
thing (Paul Laurence Dunbar Poem Hunter). The theme of this poem is to try and cherish the positive
things in life when they come along, rather than always think about the negative that has happened in
the past. Paul Laurence Dunbar s poem Life s Tragedy is spoken in the terms of reflection and

increases so does the percentage of taxes you pay. I would pay the most taxes under the progressive

Colonize Mars
Scientists have been thinking about colonizing Mars and it is an great idea because they could find the
discoveries on Mars. Have you ever thought of going to Mars, it would be really interesting to see all
of Mars features. Astronauts should colonize Mars because we could discover what is on Mars, they
would have a lot of time to prepare and why do they even want to go to mars?
NASA wants to go to mars because Mars is a great place for scientific descovorys. Mars has every
thing we need to live. If you went to mars there would only be a few things we need to live a space
suit, water, food, and clothes. Mars is also a great place to colonize because Mars has the biggest

if they send them at the wrong time they will go right into the sun. Earth is a overpopulated place so if

Ghost In The Christmas Carol
In the book The Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, there are three ghosts: The ghost of Christmas
Past, Present, and Future. The ghosts were sent to haunt Scrooge so he wouldn t be so antagonistic,
dismal, and just plain malicious. I think the most effective ghost that changes scrooge for the better is
the Ghost of Christmas present. The Ghost of Christmas present first brings E. Scrooge to the house of
his co worker Bob Cratchit. The ghost shows Scrooge Bob´s crippled son. Scrooge makes a remark
about if Bob s son Tim is okay. The text states, I see a vacant seat,... and a crutch without an owner
carefully preserved. Stupefaction and horrified scrooge says Oh no kind spirit Tell me he will be
spared. Scrooge realized why the Tim is

Dance Concert Essay
The 2017 Spring Works Dance Concert, presented by Purdue s Contemporary Dance Company,
displayed various dance pieces that had diverse choreographic structures and appeared to be created
from compositional processes that were very similar to the processes we explored in class. All of the
choreographers in this concert exhibited their own works through exclusive compositional tools. For
example, in the work Unlocking Energy , choreographed by Mary Beth Van Dyke, the sustained arm
movements initiated throughout her piece appeared to glide from one motion to the next with ease.
The arm movements in this piece differed considerably when compared to the hand gestures in 12th

For example, the unique production elements, such as: white wigs and upstage lighting, enabled the
audience to immediately become engrossed in the dark meaning of the piece. Additionally, the
compositional tools such as: even phrasing, and fast tempos displayed throughout the piece, made the
overall energy of State of Affairs elevated. At times, it appeared, that even during the parts of the
movements that contrasted with the music, the audience could not look away from the dancers
movements. Without any one of these elements, I believe the piece could be understood in a very
different way, which is not bad but is also not supportive of what the work is trying to portray overall.
Ultimately, Carol Cunningham Sigman s piece, as well as the rest of the pieces in the concert, made

Essay about Adolescent Abortion
Adolescent Abortion Less then twenty five years ago, any women who elected to terminate her
pregnancy usually had to resort to illegal, unsanitary, and unsafe means. Abortion was frequently
considered a criminal offense committed by the woman and the physician performing the procedure.
The Supreme Court cases leading to the legalization of abortion began in 1963 with Griswold v.
Connecticut. The court invalidated a Connecticut statute that made possession and use of
contraceptives by married couples a criminal offense. The case of Griswold was later expanded to
encompass the woman s right not only to prevent but also to terminate her pregnancy. In the case of

The chart that I included on the following page lists the number and distribution of legal abortions,
abortion rates per 1,000 women, and percentage of pregnancies terminated by abortion, by age group
from 1973 to 1981. (Melton 1986:43) The number of teenage abortions has risen since the Supreme
Court decision in 1973, but not as rapidly as the number of abortions to other woman of childbearing
age. From 1973 to 1981, the number of abortions to women aged 20 44 went from744,620 to
1,577,340 a rise of 112%. In contrast, the number of abortions to teenagers increased from 244,570 a
rise of 84%. (Melton 1986:45)
The increase in number of abortions has been greater for older teenagers. Between the ages 15 19, the
number of abortions went from 232,440 in 1973 to 433,330 in 1981, an increase of 86%. Below age
15, the increase was 31%, from 11,630 to 15,240. (Melton 1986:45)
Teenagers between 18 and 19 years of age have the highest demand for abortion services for women
of any age, at 61.8 per 1,000 in 1981. For teenagers aged 15 17 years, the rate was 30.1%. For
teenagers below age 15 it was 8.6. (Melton 1986:60)
The rise in teenage abortion rates has been greater than that for women of childbearing age overall.
Between 1973 and 1981, abortion rates for teenagers between 15 and 19 years went from 22.8 to 43.3
an increase of 90%. For teenagers below 15, the increase was 54%, from 5.6 to 8.6. In comparison

Naturalism and My Antonia
Naturalism is an ongoing literary movement that has been apparent since the 1900 s. It depicts how
the environment, social conditions, and even hereditary characteristics influence and shape the way a
human character will develop. It is believed that there is no escaping this realism, and each situation
one experiences is what will establish the route of life that they will partake. A short story called My
Antonia , written by Willa Cather is merely categorized with Realism and Naturalism, though it is
evident that several aspects portray supernatural occurrences. The specific characters throughout these
excerpts show the reflection of Naturalism by experiencing struggles of deprivation which resulted in
their lives being shaped by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Long Day s Journey into Night, there are several characters that display the literary term Naturalism
. Mary is a mother figure (one of the main characters) who was an extremely troubled individual, with
conjugal issues, sibling oppositions, and substance abuse. This specific character was unable to move
past all of her troubles, nor was she able to move past the fact of what others have done to her. For
example, Mary being the drug addict has issues with her children who infected her other child with
measles, who had died long ago. None of us can help the things life has done to us (O Neill 1651).
This quotation is an ideal example as to how the author made the characters in such a way where they
have realized their life is set in a way that nothing will be able to change. In other words, the social
and physical environment impacts on one s life significantly, also known as Naturalism. In conclusion,
My Antonia by Willa Carther, and Long Day s Journey into Night by Eugene O Neill are both well
known literary short stories that consist of both Naturalism, and supernatural characteristics. My
Antonia consists of both when the main character is constantly haunted by a spirit of a dead man
which is inaccurate when it relates to Naturalism. On the other hand, My Antonia also struggles with
loneliness when they are dealing with constant struggles on their farm that they cannot help, as it is
what life has encoded for them to live by. Long Day s Journey

Taking a Look at the Management Process
An organizations goals and objectives can be accomplished through leadership. Leadership refers to
inspire people to contribute and perform well in the management. It is a role of management and
leading others towards the achievement of the common goals (Channappa, 2012). Daft (2012)
reported that In today s world, industries, technologies, economies, governments, and societies are in
constant flux, and managers are responsible for helping their organizations navigate through the
unpredictable with flexibility and innovation (p. 4). A good manager is needed in every management
because he or she is the one who determine the successes and future of the management (Daft, 2012).
He or she is also the one to persevere unremittingly in facing the failure. As elaborated by Griffin
Ebert (1996), there are four vital steps in the management process which are planning, organizing,
leading and controlling (refer to Figure 1 in Appendix 1). The first step in the management process is
planning. The process starts with managers setting the objectives and identifying the goals to ensure
that mission is achieved (Daft, 2012). Firstly, an overall plan is developed by managers to ensure that
the management runs smoothly and effectively in long term (Daft, 2012). The future of an
organization to be heading and how to achieve them is determined by the manager (Daft, 2012). The
second step in the planning is the managers analyze the risks facing their organization in terms of

Auteurs Film Analysis
The idea of auteurship is one that is surrounded by the domineering presence of the white male, with
little exception: a simple Google search of film auteurs produces thousands of results of websites
listing off the likes of Paul Thomas Anderson, Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese, and David Lynch.
However, one early female filmmaker who, like too many other important women of the past, has
been mostly buried by history stands above the rest. Often viewed in the same regard as male
contemporaries such as D. W. Griffith, Lois Weber used her platform as a universally acclaimed
creator (at the time) to make socially conscious films that advocated the underprivileged. Although her
works are heavily influenced by her belief in Christian charity, they never seem to steer into the
dreaded preachy territory that so many other religiously motivated films fall victim to. ... Show more

and Hop, The Devil s Brew, respectively). Despite these decidedly solemn moral topics, Weber
possessed a deft talent for tempering her serious mission with the understanding that entertainment is
necessary to convey that point. For example, aside from exposing the blot on society caused by
underpaying educators and clergy members, The Blot also has a sense of humor shown mostly through
snarky title cards as well as scenes of suspense (such as Mrs. Griggs attempting to steal a chicken

Funeral s Funeral
On monday I attended his funeral. This was the hardest day in my entire life, I had lost my favorite
person and had to sit in a cold, hard chair, and watch his casket lower into the ground. He had a
beautiful air force ceremony, with the folding of the flag, and farewell son played on the trumpet. Hot
tears streamed down my face as I realized I would never hear his voice again, smell his strong Aramis
cologne, or be able to give him one last hug. No longer will I get to see him pull up to my house in his
cherry red Jaguar, or hear is over exaggerated stories at christmas. I will never be able to cuddle up to
him while eating his beloved spice drops and watching PGA tour, as the burning fire embers die down.
I will always keep my memories of him close to my heart and remember his best days. Living a life
without my grumppop will be one of the hardest journeys I will have to go through but because I live
in the moment and try to remember every single detail of our lives together, I know that he will always
be with me. How I remember all my experiences so vividly because I lived in the moment with him.I
made sure that i wasn t always on my phone when I was around him and made sure I was never
distracted so that I could give all my time to him. I know now more than ever that living in the
moment is so important because now those memories i had with him, are all that I have left and I will
never be able to experience them again. LBI is is an 18 mile island in New Jersey.

The Hersey And Blanchard Model As A Situational Leadership...
Developed by Professor Paul Hersey and Ken Blanchard in the 1970s, The Hersey and Blanchard
Model is defined as a situational leadership model which suggests that there is no single optimal
leadership style, and successful leaders adjust their styles based on follower maturity (Investopedia,
n.d.). This represents a direct link to my management style, as I consciously tailor a customized
approach to every new task, based upon the scope of the challenge, the resources at my disposal, and
the skillsets available to me. I m comfortable acting unilaterally, delegating work, or acting as a
participative leader, dependent on whichever approach is best for the task.
Strength 2: Able to Quickly Identify Team Strengths/Weaknesses
Delegating is one of the four leadership styles under the Hersey and Blanchard model, and it is
defined as a style where leaders are responsible for their teams, but provide minimum guidance to
workers or help to solve problems (Spahr, 2015). To delegate work effectively, a leader must be able
to quickly assess the strengths and weaknesses of the individuals he is working with to best ensure the
efficiency and quality of the work performed. I pride myself in a near uncanny ability to quickly
access a person s professional strengths and weaknesses after only a brief period of observation and
work, and if I am ever in doubt, I m not above asking direct questions to ascertain which individuals
are the best resources to use in accomplishing a

Similarities Between Let The Right One In And Twilight
These days scary movies have many things in common, including events, settings, and characters. Of
course, there are just as many differences used to keep the audience interested. Two horror movies Let

more depth and meaning of human spirit, invokes feelings and thoughts that stay with you, long after
the movie is over. These two movies have many similarities, but they also have characteristics to make
them unique. Both movies are based on superficial acts, but Let the right one in has much better

It is completely based on fiction and it doesn t come closer to the reality. In the movie, romance of a
boy Edward Cullen and a girl Bella Swan is shown where boy is a vampire they met in a high school.
However it is not easy to digest that girl is in relationship with a vampire who drinks animal blood
while another vampire James comes in the town who wants to hunt Bella. There is a fight between
Edward and James where Edward gets succeeded to save Bella. The whole story looks unreal and just
a mixture of emotions and horror. Key problem in Twilight is the concept that since Bella loves a
vampire and to get him in her life, she has to die so she will also be a vampire after death. Overall idea
of the movie is good that two different kinds of kids comes closer in a high school and falls in love but
it doesn t look convincing. This movie doesn t show any association of actual human spirit between
the hero and heroine. This film is totally a fiction based film because in real life no one is willing to
die soon to be a vampire after death. It gives a different kind of deceptive message which told you to
go in a relation with a vampire to remove all problems in the

They provide a safe place for them to heal and teach them the Necessary skills they need to live a productive life. I really like the idea that they reach out to the homeless who need treatment for a mental illness because a lot of them are suffering and do not have the means to get treatment. The way station relates perfectly to the gernalist social work practice in a lot of different ways. First way that it relates is that it uses the empowerment theory. Here is a quote from their website about empowerment Finding strength within. Encouraging the autonomy of both our consumers and staff using teamwork to achieve individualized goals and personal growth and development. Assuring accessibility. This quote was the essence of the empowerment theory because it is talking about using the client s strengths to help them overcome any obstacles that are ones way of living a healthy life. Also, Way Station is about helping people find the services that they need. This organization is amazing and provides a bunch of services that help a lot of people in Maryland. It makes me happy to know that there is a organization so close to where I live that helps thousands of people in need.it is just awesome to know there is a place that can many different services that they so desperately ... • 4. The Church Of England In The Canterbury Tales During the time period that The Canterbury Tales was written, England went under massive changes of all kind, specifically religious, political, and medically. The changes of this time inspired many of the stories and characters as most of them formed their lives around these changes. During this era of England, the Church of England gained immense amounts of influence, enough to have control over the King himself. The characters named the Pardoner and the Summoner were both from the church, or so they pretend. Their stature with the church gave them respect among the other members of the group heading to Canterbury. The character, the Doctor, took advantage of the sick by telling them that they need a special medicine that only his friend sells. The plan was that the Doctor would send people to his friend for a special deal and the Doctor would get a cut of the profit from his friend. As the church rose to power, they officially had their own military power in forms of knights and squires. Their influence stretched far and wide, only becoming even larger by the holy wars being fought throughout Europe. The church turned their knights into crusaders and ordered them to go to places such as Alexandria, Benamarin, Flanders, and other places around Europe. It was revealed that the Knight and the Squire were indirectly mentioned as being part of the crusades. It was revealed by how they were mentioned to have been in those cities at the same time of the crusades. The Prologue ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The National Bureau Of Economic Analysis (NBER) The business cycle is a series of quantified ups and downs in economies across the world, similar to the manner in which humans breathe. A positive breath inward to bring oxygen to the lungs, a negative breath outward to push carbon dioxide out of the lungs, designed to keep the respiratory system at equilibrium. Without the outward breath, the inward breath would not occur. The business cycle works in the same manner ¬¬ expansions or boom periods acting as the breath inward, and contractions or recessions acting as the breath outward. Both are necessary for an economy to function, and one would not be able to exist without the other. This is the crux of the issue of recessions: they are a necessary occurrence, not an evil, in the context ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. Salem Witchcraft Trials Dbq Analysis Throughout the 1600s to 1700s, the American colonies expanded and developed very quickly despite societal tension with the Native Americans, politics, economics, and religion. During these times, tension led many times to conflict. Both Bacon s Rebellion of 1676 and the Salem witchcraft trials of 1692 reflected the growing gap between rich and poor, but were fueled by two different scapegoats respectively, the Indians and religious superstition. Nathaniel Bacon and his followers were poor, landless frontiersmen searching for land in Virginia where there were already many plantations. Frustrated, they were angry that the Virginia s Governor William Berkeley refused to seek revenge on the Indians for attacking them, their land, and their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Pros And Cons Of Under Armour Under Armour has severely limited its product offerings due to its primary target market, which is geared mainly towards male athletes, aged 12 24. Their lack of diversity is a notable competitive disadvantage to industry rivals Nike and Adidas. However, we have recently witnessed the growth in demand for athletic wear apparel 6% (Marc Bain), as well as the growth in female sports engagement across the United States (Statista). A potential strategic alternative could be to significantly expand on their athletic apparel line. This expansion would primarily target female athletes within the same male target range. In order to enhance the success in this field, they should continue to add to the eight women (Under Armour Roster) who are currently apart of the Under Armour endorsement roster. Pros and Cons Analysis 1: In our first strategy we suggest that Under Armour expands their women s line to tap its thriving market segment. Nike s women s department accounted for $5.7 billion in fiscal 2015 in comparison to $4.5 billion in 2013. In recent years, women have transitioned to wearing athletic apparel as leisurewear. Lululemon, a flagship store known for it women s athletic apparel has incurred an annualized growth rate of 23.5% over the past five years (Soni). There is surely a strong market for women s athletic apparel. With such strong growth in the industry over the past few years, the competition is beginning to establish their place in the market. • 8. The Reproductive Right Debate Essays No other element of the Women s Rights Movement has generated as much controversy as the debate over reproductive rights. As the movement gained momentum so did the demand for birth control, sex education, family planning and the repeal of all abortion laws. On January 22, 1973 the Supreme Court handed down the Roe v. Wade decision which declared abortion fundamental right. The ruling recognized the right of the individual to be free from unwanted governmental intrusion into matters so fundamentally affecting a person as the right of a woman to decide whether or not to terminate her pregnancy. (US Supreme Court, 1973) This federal level ruling took effect, legalizing abortion for all women nationwide. In a 2006 study conducted by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 495) Abortions were linked to low birth rates of American children, and fear was spread that with the continuing birth rates, the population would no longer be able to reproduce itself The fear was that lower class and immigrant children would soon make up the majority. Abortion was seen as a privilege more available to the higher classes than the lower ones, thus explaining the imbalance in birth rates. (Linders, 1998) Another key issue in the argument to criminalize abortions was the attempt by doctors to establish exclusive rights to practice medicine. They wanted to prevent midwives, apothecaries, and other untrained practitioners from competing with them for patients and patient fees. Rather than openly admitting to such motivations, the newly formed American Medical Association (AMA) argued that abortion was both immoral and dangerous. By 1910, all but one state had criminalized abortion except where necessary, in a doctor s judgment, to save the woman s life. Should the woman die in that situation, it would not be because of the abortion but in spite of it. (p.494) In this way, legal abortion was successfully transformed into a physicians only practice. • 9. Causes Of Man Causes Climate Change Essay Kaisha Struve Wanatee Ms.Murphy Adv. LA 10 21 November, 2017 Man Is The Cause Of Climate Change Imagine this; Our world with thick coal colored clouds, we re having to wear gas masks to breathe. Animals, except fish, are going extinct due to not having grass to eat. There isn t any fresh water so we have to boil our water over terribly hot fires. The nights are freezing cold and the days are extremely hot with humid thick air, even sometimes there are immensely strong rainstorms of acid rain. Our world doesn t need to be like this; Man is the cause of climate change due to the overuse of fossil fuels, using aerosol products, and even deforestation.. sw3The most impactful way man causes climate change is through burning fossil fuels, we as humans cause air pollution directly through our use of gases, electricity and transportation. Also air pollution can be caused indirectly, when we buy our food and other goods it uses energy to create, clean, and ship the item. The foremost way we cause air pollution is through emissions from vehicles, and even greenhouses use fossil fuels, the greenhouse effect makes it warmer. How the greenhouse effect works is that chemicals are let out into the atmosphere then some of the chemicals absorbs heat, some examples of greenhouse gases are nitrous oxide , methane, ozone, and carbon dioxide. Another way man causes climate change is by the use of aerosol cans and product. Aerosols effect on Earth s climate is that it will scatter light ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Jose Marti Rhetorical Analysis José Martí s Stance on the Government s Role in Ensuring Virtuosity Through the writings of José Martí, a reader witnesses his strong love for justice, virtue, and duty. His writings illustrate, with fantastic diction, Martí s profound distaste for those who are not virtuous; specifically governments that are not virtuous. The theme that is consistently found in the work of Martí is his belief that the government is ultimately responsible for the acts carried out by its citizens. He believes that the government creates the monsters which it so desperately attempts to eliminate. And, in multiple essays, Martí makes clear that he believes the only way to prevent the acts of these monsters is by the government leading its citizens to a life of virtuosity through their own demonstration of such character. Martí follows the several key trials that he believes provide evidence for the government s need to accept responsibility for what is done by its citizens. In, The trial of Guiteau, the reader learns about Charles J. Guiteau who was convicted in the killing of President Garfield. In this essay, Martí is adamant about ensuring that no one forgives the convicted murderer for his deed. In one sentence Martí states, He does not arouse pity; he does not arouse forgiveness; he arouses no desire to excuse him and goes on to say, There is no place for him in men s hearts, only in their hatred (95). Yet, the irony of his statements becomes evident through the sentence immediately following the latter when Martí explains that Reason demands that his [the convicted murderer] life be spared because he believes that killing the monster is inadequate way of ending power s nature to grow monsters... (95). Thus, while Martí strongly believes that no forgiveness should be shown to Guiteau, he still believes that Guiteau deserves to live because his execution would not change the reason why it happened. Instead, Martí believes that only the government can prevent what happened by changing what caused it. Moreover, it could be loosely said that he does not believe the Guiteau is responsible for the death of the president; instead he believes that the government under which Guiteau lived is responsible. Ultimately, Martí ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Emotions that flutter in all directions, and consume our inner conscious. What is the typical way of dealing with the problems that we face? Typically, we mask our emotions. Put them aside to rot in our mind, and eat away at our own self. As human beings it is the norm. The normal way of dealing with our problems is to not pay attention to them Stowing them away so we can go out into the real world. • 15. Extending Education System Extending the Education System Andy Nesbitt, superintendent of education for the Grand Erie District School Board stated in an interview in 2011, There is no exact way to measure how many students return for a fifth year and the number varies from year to year and at different schools. But, on average, he said that 40% to 50% of high schoolers are returning for an extra year of study (Ruby). Why is this number so high? In 1921, the Ontario government enforced a tremendous idea that would improve the education system. They introduced Grade 13, a fifth grade in high school. The fifth year of high school was known as Grade 13 until 1984, when it was renamed Ontario Academic Credit (OAC). It still acted as the 5th year of high school ... Parents have to understand what would be better for their kids. • 16. The Modern Age Of Islam The Islamic world has tried to become strong again through both secularism and religion, with neither answer showing a complete, absolute advantage over the other. This is shown through Atta Turk completely removing Islam out of the newly formed Turkish society, the Baath Party s secular ideology while still committing massacre, and Hezbollah using a radicalized form of religion to gain political strength. The beginning of the modern age of Islam can be marked with Napoleon s conquest of Egypt and the subsequent conquest by Britain. This defeat indicated to the leaders of the Islamic world that not only were they defeated by a Western power, but also by an inferior Western power. Thus, leaders of the Islamic world, such as Muhammad Ali and al Afghani said that to create a successful society, we must emulate the West to become strong. This ideology held largely throughout the Islamic world until the creation of Israel. When Israel fought and destroyed Arab nations in the Six Days War, secular governments were no longer as widely accepted, leading to the creation of Islamic states and the further progression of Islamic Fundamentalism. Islamic Fundamentalism uses radicalized Islam, which can usually be traced directly back to Wahhabism, to try and gain power and political influence over the region through terror. This clearly corrupted thought clashes with the secular, although also in many cases corrupted, powers of the world. These opposing viewpoints show that there is no ... • 19. The Importance Of Strict Gun Control Laws Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the United States yet in 2016 there were 762 gun related homicides, 3,550 shooting incidents, and 4,331 shooting victims. Despite strict gun laws Chicago had one of the deadliest years in history, so are the laws really working? Strict gun control does not mean that the amount of gun related crime will decrease. So, what is the point in making strict gun control laws? Gun control does not work. Chicago is a prime example of this, Chicago has some of the strictest laws in America but led the country in gun violence in 2016. So why are the gun laws not working? For starters criminals do not care about the laws, criminals break the laws and gun laws are just more laws they will break. Once somebody decides they are going to commit a crime such as murder not having a gun is going to stop the person from committing the murder that person will either possess a firearm illegally or commit the crime without a gun. Trying to ban firearms is also likely to drastically increase the black market or street value of the weapons since they will no longer be able to buy them at a store, assuming that they would even be able to pass a background check to purchase it legally, and most likely lead to even more crime. Between 2000 and 2013 the majority of active shooter incidents in American was at schools, colleges, malls, and businesses. The people that go to schools and businesses to commit murder usually want to commit a mass murder and kill as many innocent people as they can before they get killed or kill themselves. Since they want mass casualties the shooters do not want to be shot which is why they go where there are a lot of people and where there are very few or nobody that is armed and prepared to defend themselves and others. Schools are often a target of people who want to cause mass casualties since there is usually only one armed and ready person on campus if that which often makes schools a desirable target, but what if all the faculty and staff member at the school was trained and carrying a firearm then that would drastically decrease the chances of somebody wanting to commit mass murder at a school since that person s odds of murdering more than a one person ... When the Church of England separated from Catholicism under Henry VIII, Protestantism flourished in England. Some Protestants, however, wanted complete separation from Catholicism and looked to Calvinism. These Separatists, along with the Catholics who had not joined the Church of England, came to New England in hopes of finding this religious freedom where they would be free to have their own beliefs. • 22. Evolution By Natural Selection By Charles Darwin Evolution by natural selection, proposed by Charles Darwin in 1859, requires a population to have three necessities. These include variation, which leads to differences in fitness, and a form of heredity for this variation (Bourrat 2014). Natural selection acts solely by accumulating slight, successive, and favorable variations and cannot produce great or sudden modifications because it can act only by very short and slow steps (Darwin 1859). Nevertheless, there are always numerous potential selective pressures in nature that limit a population s evolution and fitness like predation. Plants form the foundation on which communities and ecosystems are assembled and which food webs are created. Accordingly, the understanding of factors that establish plant distribution, abundance is essential for our understanding of ecology at large. As major constituents of most ecosystems and chronic agents of plant damage, consumers have great potential to heavily impact plant abundance and distribution (Maron and Crone 2006). Particularly, herbivore populations like Eurosta solidaginis typically sustain heavy attacks from tortuous arrays of natural enemies (Bergman and Tingey 1979). They frequently encounter parasitoid wasps and avian predators, which impact the survival of the gallmakers. If a survivorship varies among gallmakers with different traits, natural enemy attacks can potentially alter their traits in later generations (Warren et al. 1989). Based upon other experiments ... Leadership refers to inspire people to contribute and perform well in the management. It is a role of management and leading others towards the achievement of the common goals (Channappa, 2012). Daft (2012) reported that In today s world, industries, technologies, economies, governments, and societies are in constant flux, and managers are responsible for helping their organizations navigate through the unpredictable with flexibility and innovation (p. 4). A good manager is needed in every management because he or she is the one who determine the successes and future of the management (Daft, 2012). He or she is also the one to persevere unremittingly in facing the failure. As elaborated by Griffin Ebert (1996), there are four vital steps in the management process which are planning, organizing, leading and controlling (refer to Figure 1 in Appendix 1). The first step in the management process is planning. The process starts with managers setting the objectives and identifying the goals to ensure that mission is achieved (Daft, 2012). Firstly, an overall plan is developed by managers to ensure that the management runs smoothly and effectively in long term (Daft, 2012). Developed by Professor Paul Hersey and Ken Blanchard in the 1970s, The Hersey and Blanchard Model is defined as a situational leadership model which suggests that there is no single optimal leadership style, and successful leaders adjust their styles based on follower maturity (Investopedia, n.d.). This represents a direct link to my management style, as I consciously tailor a customized approach to every new task, based upon the scope of the challenge, the resources at my disposal, and the skillsets available to me.
