I was born on Ramstein Army Base just outside of Kaiserslautern, Germany. My father, an Air
Force Lieutenant at the time, was stationed in the area when I arrived. Growing up an Air Force
brat, I learned at an early age that our lifestyle isn t normal. While most of my friends have known
each other since preschool, I ve lived in two countries and five states and attended seven different
schools. I know I m not typical.
But I ve always identified strongly with the military. It was an integral part of my childhood,
dictating when we would move again and in which state I would receive instate tuition. I am
proud of my background, of the challenges I ve had to overcome and the hardships I ve had to deal
with because of it. It s made me stronger as a person, and I would never choose to redo my
childhood as a civilian.
Just as much as it s shaped my past, the military has also shaped my future. To start, it has
broadened my horizons. Being exposed to so many different cultures around the US has made
me discontent to settle in one area, and I find myself eager to explore the one region I haven t
yet lived: the West Coast. Growing up a military brat has also caused me to shy away from
considering a career in the military. My dad s tales of life at the Academy have scarred me enough
to cross that option off my list. But also, I intend to stray from the military and start life as a civilian.

There were 3,719 accidents involving semi trucks. What if one of those trucks carrying liquid
radioactive waste was involved in one of those accidents? What if the container ruptured? What if
the driver who is trained in what to do was incapacitated? In 2011 according to state agency
statistics, state police dispatchers told callers about 40 times a day it had no troopers to
respond: to accidents, dangerous driver reports, to crimes. Eastern Oregon has a lot of miles to
cover. My best friend s dad is a deputy in Morrow County and he alone is responsible for
hundreds of miles of roads on his shifts. I called a few counties in Eastern Oregon and the
deputies all do go through annual training on what to do in the event of a nuclear emergency, but
what if they are unavailable? Or what if they are a few hundred miles away and it takes them
over an hour to get there? What happens then? The passersby s first on the scene won t know the
proper procedure for dealing with that radioactive waste. They might not see the nuclear waste
placard, or even know what it means. Is it safe for them to get close to the truck and help the
driver? Is it even safe for cars to drive on the highway around the accident? These are questions I

The products of which the countries in Asia supply tend to be stuff like shoes, homewares,
clothes, toys and electronics. I think Asia supplies majority of the goods as many companies
have their factories in China. This may be due to the fact that Chinese are flexible with their
