As part of a suburban, middle class community, I as well as hundreds of other students who are
also part of this community receive a proper education. Consequently, I have never had the
experience of living in the city and attending a school that is on the other side of the spectrum: one
that takes advantage of the word tenure and deprives students my age and younger of a decent
educationeither because of low funding, subsequent budget cuts, or a legislation that just does not
care. However, thanks to the 2010 Davis Guggenheimdocumentary, Waiting for Superman, it is
no secret that the United States has been battling such inequality for several decades. The film
follows a superhero allegory and several inner city kids, all of whom are part of a lower class
community and seem to have their fate sealed because of where they live and their financial
situation. As the movie progresses, Guggenheim presents two sides to this documentary:
personal and impersonal. He specifically uses a definitive structure and emotional appeal to
expose the political and social issues that hinder all children in all areas of the country from
receiving a proper education and breaking away from their poor living situation and a fate that is

When we consider the sensations and perceptions of our mind we find that there are a lot of
connections. The pathways that connect our eyes, our nose, and our ears to our brain are very
complicated. Therefor I have explained them to you in the following paragraphs. We then moved on

The rods of the eye connect with the bipolar cells. The bipolar cells connect to the ganglion cells.
The ganglion cells connect to the optic nerve. the ganglion cell and the optic nerve together form
the blind spot. Then everything heads out to the optic chiasm and into the brain where it splits into
two parts and then reconnects at the back of the brain in the Occipital Lobe.
Sound can be found in waves. These waves travel from the outer ear to the eardrum. There are three
bones inside of the eardrum: the hammer, the anvil, and the stirrup. The sound waves then travel
through towards the inner ear. The stirrup is connected to the membrane known as the oval window.
The sound vibrations travel through the oval window to the structure called the cochlea. The cochlea
is divided by the basilar membrane. The organ of Corti can be found on top of the basilar
membrane. There are fibers located through the inner ear and when the sound vibrations enter the
ear the fibers begin to vibrate and send the signal to the auditory nerve. Thus producing sound that
is interpreted in the brain.

As I walk out to the corner of the driveway to Jillian s car, I hear the jingle of the keys on her
lanyard, like the jingle of bells on Santa s sleigh. I slightly push the key as it glides into the
ignition. I turn the key away from me until I hear the roar of the engine starting like an angry lion
at the zoo. I scan through the radio stations until I find a song I like. Jillian opens the door, and gets
in. The gravity from the hill that the car is parked on causes the door to slam shut. As we pull out
of the driveway, Jillian asks, Where are we going first?

will get to start my day off by getting ready in the bathroom next to my best friend before she
