- Teachers can use up to 10% or 1000 words of a copyrighted work in a presentation, whichever is less. An entire poem under 250 words or 250 words from a longer poem can also be used. - Fair use allows a teacher to make a single copy of a book chapter, magazine article, or picture for personal research or teaching. Multiple copies can also be made under certain conditions. - When making photocopies, teachers must follow conditions like only making one copy per student and not using copies year after year. They cannot copy consumable materials or to save money.
